(random s5 finale musings) tbh I don't think Marinette chose to keep The Secrets™ from Adrien because Gabriel asked her to. I feel like Marinette keeping secrets like that is so consistent with her character; she hates giving people bad news, she hates rocking the boat, she hates upsetting people, she always chooses to keep any 'controversial' information to herself for as long as she can get away with (examples: bubbler scarf, telling Queen Bee she was benched, confessing to Adrien, warning Chat Noir about Scarabella or Rena Furtive, never told Chat Noir about Chat Blanc, etc) that I just totally believe she would've done it either way. I've seen a lot of discourse about Virginia Kull's portrayal of Sally Jackson in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series, and I'd like to say that I loved her. Don't get me wrong. I love Sally from the original book series, and I, too, would fight the God of War on her behalf. But something that I enjoyed about Virginia's portrayal of Sally that we don't get in the books is the character depth. We don't hear much of Sally's backstory in the TV series, apart from a couple of flashbacks with younger Percy and that scene with Poseidon (Toby Stephens). However, those scenes do an excellent job of showing us that alongside being Percy's mother, Sally is also a young woman who fell in love with a man she could not be with and is enduring the natural consequences of having Percy. She struggles to communicate with him when she's frustrated, gets teary-eyed when she lies to him to prolong the inevitable, and actively sacrifices her happiness to ensure his safety. Virginia Kull's portrayal of Sally Jackson reinforces the character's humanity, imperfections, and determination, and it's everything to me.

I'm incredibly soft about the fact that the people Caleb shares a sending stone with aren’t the mighty nein members who live furthest away, but the ones who live the closest. That, when also taking into account the easy invitation to dinner and request for a spare bedroom (and the mention that Caleb has the worst timing when calling, implying he calls often) makes so much known about their domestic lives. How often does Yasha make a quick call to invite Caleb for dinner to try some new (barely edible) dish? How often do Caleb and Beau stay up late doing research, with him staying the night in the guest room? How often does Caleb call in the middle of the night with a question?

The nein getting together for adventuring is fun, but man, I'd absolutely sit down for a few hours of them just being domestic and settled like this.
