It feels a little silly to talk about EKL now when the game's fully released 😂 But here's a WIP shot for one of the comic pages.

Yo, I hate accidentally ctrl+z on a tumblr post, this is my second time writing this.

Ta-da, this is how one of the pages look altogether!

At this point, the handwritten word bubbles was for anything I wanted to animate. The other text was written in my sketches and all word bubbles were added via GUI + programming.

Screentoning has been my savior this whole game. I cannot tell you the relief of just blocking out a single color, going to CSP and setting the layer to screentone mode 😅

Sky of Falling Birds (SFB) will be my next big project after SYVNH. You can read a bit more about it here, but I'll talk about it in detail another time. I'm happy the first draft has been finished at 21k+ words though!

Saintess Alasdair is Dead (SAiD) is an otome jam project I'm working on with @akuakourin and Amiralo as a programmer. ...I'm not sure how much I should be sharing here, but... back in Week #23, this was how my progress looked.

A lot of indie gamedev is about meetings! ...I forget that because it usually feels like I'm just chatting with friends in discord and suddenly we're working on a project together.

Game page and main menu planning for EKL. The idea was to make the game page look like the back of a manga, and the main menu like the cover, spine, and back of a manga book.

Some elements didn't necessarily make it into the final cut.

And as I mentioned before, most of the SAiD demo is done!

Okay, that's everything!! 💦Can you believe half the year is now over... Next week is a holiday so I should finally have time to get some proper devwork done and answer some comments and questions! (I read them all and I appreciate every one, I'm sorry I often can't always answer them;; )

1: Sunrise or sunset?

Sunset!!!! They’re so gorgeous (and sunrises are too cold in my experience and it’s too painful to be awake and they’re paler) but I loooove deeper sunset colors so much!!

13: Talk about a time in your life when you have felt most alive?

There’s a huge Christian music concert every year called WinterJam, and it’s a huge tour and they go through Cleveland so I always go with my youth group. And let me tell you there’s nothing like standing out in the cold getting hyped and then going into the arena and seeing like 10+ awesome rappers, indie groups, hard rockers, and pop singers all belting out their love for God in one night.

No. And I’ll leave it at that.

Nope, two parents, just separately for the last half of my life.

It's been...I don't know, a week and a half? I feel like it's been more than that probably. Almost two weeks more like it. I've been busy recently to be completely honest. The day after my last post, I got home from work and went to bed. I didn't get up until 10AM the next day. After that, this blog left my mind completely. I didn't do much for a week until I decided to look into moving to Philadelphia. I love everything about it, and my parents are on board, so I looked into going to college there. I spent the last week getting everything together and writing essays and filling out applications. I have to take the ACTs which I didn't do when I was still in school, so that happens in April. I'm hoping to get into at least on of the schools I applied to for the Fall Semester. I just barely made the deadlines. I'm talking like, the day before. It was nuts.

So there's that.

Other than that there's really nothing else to talk about. I'm going to Winter Jam tomorrow. It's this Christian Music concert thing. I only care about seeing one guy perform, though, so I'm not sure how fun it's gonna be. I've never been before. My parents have this thing about Christian music because they're really strictly Presbyterian PCA people who don't want us exposed to anything else, which is super shitty. I don't listen to a lot of Christian music to begin with, but concerts are fun!

So, we'll see how that goes. I'm a bit excited about it. It's in Atlanta, and I love Atlanta. I love any downtown area, to be honest. I'd move to Atlanta if I wasn't worried about being stabbed in the night. Atlanta at night is scary. But I like when we have any reason to go into Atlanta. We don't get very many honestly.

If anyone has any good free study websites for science and math, that'd be super great. I'm terrible at both and after taking a Practice ACT exam I found out they kill my score a lot. I need some study help, and all I've got is an old Algebra 2 textbook and Shmoop.com. Suggestions welcome, please and thank you.

I'm planning to come up with a new playlist later this week. Suggestions for topics would be great so I can figure out what sort of music to put on it. I have a couple ideas, but I don't know how far they'll get me. I don't even know if anyone's listening to them. Well, I like making them.....

More tomorrow after WinterJam probably.

LDAH (long distance anon here); hey, each family has its own depressing stuff :) I can get that. But on a lighter note, do you have any favorite music genres? I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music, so anything is usually fine as long as it's not screaming metal rock, murderous rap, or extreme redneck country. As far as rap goes my favorite exposure by far is Hamilton. That really opened my mind to rap music cause I loved the language and structure of the music and words so much.

Hahaha, same. If I have any preference in music it would be toward pop, but honestly I listen to anything. Most of my music rn is through my friend’s Google Play account. I have my own playlist and everything.

I’ve liked rap ever since I won a free christian rap cd at WinterJam in eighth grade. AND HAMILTON IS AMAZING, but I swear that I don’t like it in front of my best friend’s pseudo-aunt because otherwise she’ll speak of nothing else, which is fine for the first 2 hours but not for an entire weekend.

I’m really bad at the names of music artists, though. Mikki, that friend I keep mentioning because she’s my only constant rl friend, and her family are EXTREMELY musically inclined (like they have been recorded for CDs and run the music ministry at their church) and cannot believe how absolute shit I am at names of musical artists.

Oh well, I’ve always enjoyed a song more than a group… except maybe Girl’s Generation which is just a guilty pleasure of mine. Lol.

(I like talking to you. It’s very easy and I look forward to it. Honestly, I’ve been crazy checking my tumblr all day for your replies. hahaha.)
