the door of your class finally opened after what felt like an eternity. "yo," vernon who had been waiting for you says as he puts his arm around your shoulders.

"hey," you responded still not making eye contact with him, you were busy queueing songs to play during your travel. once you were done you gave him your other earphone and leaned on him slightly, "thanks for waiting by the way." "always," he smiles at you softly.

as you walked with vernon and looked around your school you noticed the stares you got from certain vernon fangirls. you knew it was kinda unfair for you to keep clinging onto your best friend like this, but something gives you a bad feeling in your stomach when you think of seeing vernon with another person. of course if ever he got with another person you’d stop, but for now, he was yours to keep.

"i think the girls in my class like your cool-guy-stance, they couldn’t take their eyes off you seeing you outside the window," you teased, he was always there waiting for you as long as you guys didn't have a conflict in schedule, he would always be able to get you from class and commute with you to your home. it's been like that since you guys got close in the beginning of college and found out you guys live near each other.

"im flattered," is all vernon had to say. you softly chuckled at his emotionless face. you moved on from the topic and talked about anything interesting that happened that day.

you guys got on your train and you sat on the only available seat. you gave up offering the seat to vernon, he would never take it. he stood in front of you and held the bar at the top to keep balance as you continued on with your story about a girl you dislike.

"and then, when i walked into the room kel said "hi yn!" and she hugged me!?" you expressed your disgust with your tone. "isn't kel the girl that talked shit about you?" vernon asked, super intrigued with your gossip. "EXACTLY- hey vern you missed your stop," you noticed when you took a looked at the train route. "huh- no i didn't?"

"you're going to seungkwan's place no?" seungkwan was vernon’s best friend from highschool. "i'm bringing you home first tho?" he mimicked your tone and rhymed. you laughed slightly and played with the hem of his jacket, "you don't have to bring me all the time.”

you lied. you preferred it when he stayed. train rides were more bearable with him.

he gently held your wrists in his hands and fiddled with the charms of the bracelet he gave you, “i’m not doing this cause i have to, i’m doing this because i want to.”

he was telling the truth. he loved being around you more than anyone else. that isn’t to say he didn’t want to meet his friends it’s just, a few more minutes with you, if he can take it, he will.

you grinned and leaned your head on his arm. he looked down and patted your head with his free hand. you don’t know why but something in you screamed that you wanted something more than this.

vernon got the key to seungkwan’s apartment that kwan gave him after realising vernon practically lives there. also one time vernon had to pee really bad and he was just outside the door knocking profusely— but seungkwan was wearing earphones and couldn’t hear him. but generally it could just be convenient and good for emergencies!

he quickly opened the door and threw his stuff on the floor along with his shoes.

“KWAN,” vernon stands infront of his friend that’s sitting in his living room, head rested on his hands like he was in a midlife crisis (he was). seungkwan slowly lifts his head revealing his bloodshot eyes with the glare that screamed don’t mess with me. vernon calmed down and pushed his suffering friends bangs away to touch his forehead, “you good bro?” “fuck college.” “true that.”

“hey vern,” seungkwan's roommate jeonghan walked in from the hall. they’ve been livng together since college started. "hey.”

“i'm taking a break and what’s up with you? you seem tense,” seungkwan got up from the floor and walked to the kitchen.

“i think i want to confess to yn," vernon stood in the center of the house like a lost cat.

both seungkwan and jeonghan froze. two people that hear at least 5 stories about yn per day. is it actually happening? is their otp actually getting together?

"excuse me?" seungkwan furrowed his eyebrows. "woahhh," jeonghan still stood in the hallway like the standing emoji. "who slipped up first?" he added.

"no one slipped up? i don't even think yn sees me that way."

"you oblivious gremlin- you two are closer than some married couples i know." seungkwan hissed. "that's just how we've always been." seungkwan slammed his hands on the dining table that was separating him from throwing hands at his blunt friend. jeonghan picked up the conversation as he hung his arm on the youngest's shoulder, "okay, why do you want to confess?"

"i can't really see myself being with anyone else."

"that's a good reason."

"i think i only have eyes for her." "okay this is getting cheesy," seungkwan cuts him off.

"but what if yn isn't interested and then our friendship becomes weird and then i have to live a life without her," vernon lays on the couch out of frustration.

"vernon, you and yn already act like a couple what makes you think a label changes anything," jeonghan stated while seungkwan nodded in agreement and took a sip from his glass while his free hand was on his hip. he was serving wine aunt.

jeonghan leaned against the wall and watched the helpless boy sulk, "i'm only gonna tell you this once, you'll never actually get together unless you try. and it's better to try. before you know it, she might be taken away by another guy, yknow?"

"yea," vernon replied defeatedly.

"you guys are close enough for you to try and it would be crazy for her to not have caught feelings, especially with the way she reciprocates your actions." he continued.

“kinda true.”

“unless she’s only close with you to make her crush jealous," seungkwan sips again as both stared at him, jeonghan with a hateful gaze and vernon with a, 'i thought you were on my side' look.

jeonghan instantly got up and ruffed up seungkwan's already messy hair and they bickered about why kwan would even say that. but anyways, regardless of what these two said, it all depended on vernon to make his move.

the typical routine of you clinging onto vernon happened again the next day. your arm was wrapped around his left arm, his right hand held your phone and it was his turn to queue the music today. you were expressing your joy with slightly jumping and tugging his arm over knowing that tomorrow would be the weekend but vernon was thinking about how you two might not be doing this anymore by tomorrow.

as you calmed down there was a silence but vernon broke it, “yknow you’re never going to get a boyfriend if you keep doing this.”

your heart sunk to your stomach, ‘where is this coming from?’ you thought but you maintained your composure and muttered, “i know.”

vernon looked at you, “you don’t want one?”

“i do.”

as you said that, vernon felt the world fall from behind him. could you be talking about the crush seungkwan made up— vernon was practically losing hair and sleep over a sentence he heard yesterday. having a crush on his best friend was one thing. realising he might have been inconsiderate to you was another. he knew how physically affectionate he is with you but he never bothered to ask you, was there someone else in your life that you wanted to share these experiences with. actually that was more or less a question he didn’t want the answer to.

at this point you both stopped walking and the air was heavy. your voice reached his ears but he didn’t know if it felt as sweet as before, “vern?” you stood in front of him reaching for his arm.

eventually he couldn’t bottle his feelings anymore.

he cupped your hands and spoke, “yn i really like you, like since we got close— since i met you probably so if you like someone else just tell me i can handle it,” he can’t handle it, but this was the right thing to do, right?

it was so silent you could hear the breeze.

vernon continued “i don’t want to hold you back, i want you to be with the person you like—“

you launched yourself onto him and hugged him.

vernon couldn’t tell why you did that. was it out of pity? a friendly hug?— you guys hug all the time but why did this feel different from the one last week? in the end, he couldn’t find it in him to care if there was a motive or something of that sort. he just wanted you. in that moment all he could do was absorb it. he closed his eyes and caressed you in his arms.

“vernon?”

“yea?”

“i like you too. you idiot.”

vernon stood there dumbstruck. ‘no way,’ he mouthed.

he would’ve called you out for pranking him if it wasn’t for your overly sentimental voice that pierced his heart.

there was a long pause before he responded, “you sure?”

you slightly parted from the hug to face him, “fuck you mean ‘you sure’? does it really look like i’m looking at other people?” you sandwiched his face in between your hands. his arms were still around your waist and he laughed at your reaction, “sorry, sorry.”

you beamed at his gentleness and he got so lost in your eyes. “do you want to date me?” he said breathily. you jumped back into the hug, “of course!?”

‘there’s no way that worked,’ vernon thought. you two continued your walk to the train, while holding hands! but also vernon’s legs felt like jelly from the shock. he was walking so slow you thought you were going to miss your train.

fortunately you both got onto the train and got to your usual position. you got on your phone with one hand to reply to any messages you had while the other was holding vernon’s.

vernon was also on his phone and he couldn’t fully pay attention to you, “sorry, give me a second i need to tweet this to seungkwan and jeonghan.” you snickered at his seriousness and way of phrasing.

Chapter fifteen

We walked together down the winding country lane until we came to a stile I'd have missed had it not been for Isaiah stopping me. He tugged me back without a word, squeezing my hand to stop me in my tracks. When I looked back at him in confusion he just nodded his head to the little wooden step sticking out of the hedgerow.

He let go of my hand then, pushing me forward with one hand hovering over my lower back, stood closer to me than he needed to be. It was as if he really didn't know what I'd spent the last eleven years of my life doing. Still, I didn't tell him I could manage with the step and I let him help me with his hand on my waist to hold my steady. I wasn't sure why. Perhaps I was letting him play The Man, letting him recover a little of his shattered ego by pretending I needed his help. Or perhaps the little girl in me who still harboured that childish crush was enjoying herself a little too much.

It certainly felt that way when he helped me in silence, only speaking to remind me to be careful when I jumped down to the ground.

When he had followed me over the stile he returned to my side, one hand on my back as he surveyed the horizon, scanning our surroundings for anyone who might be waiting in the long grass. Though of course this was just a field in the middle of the peaks and no one was waiting for us because nobody knew we were here.

"When your brother realises you're gone first thing he'll do is get in the car, ain't many roads an I don't fancy our chances outrunning an SUV do you?" he said a little while after when I'd already done as he'd told me following him halfway through the field of rewilding grass. It had grown tall and came up to my shoulders but Isaiah was a fair bit taller than me and he could see over the tops of the pollen heavy heads which left wheaty flakes in my long brown hair.

"Glad you're on my side," I said with a small smirk knowing full well that he wasn't. Knowing full well how that would wind him up.

"I'm on the "not getting me head kicked in by your brothers" side actually lass," he said taking it upon himself to entwine his fingers with mine again, squeezing my hand a little too tightly as he tugged on my arm to get me to walk quicker, "and if I'm gonna manage that we need to move quicker than this, if they don't see you before bed they'll panic and Tommy will have half the fuckin blinders out in these fields hunting for us... am not getting me eyes cut out cause you wouldn't walk quick enough..."

"Find me a car then soft cunt," I said quietly, the smirk on my lips mirrored by him when my words came out just slightly Brummie, just slightly like the way I might have said them when I was a little girl trying to pick a fight with him because I liked him and fighting was the only way I knew how to get his attention.

He cracked a grin and shook his head, ignoring my comment and tugging on my hand once more, the two of us picking up the pace, falling into a thinner, more comfortable silence then.

We'd been walking twenty minutes before he stopped me at the edge of another field where the dirt track country road split three ways. There was an old fashioned iron road sign like something out of Midsommer Murders, directing pedestrians and motorists alike towards a church 3 and a half miles east, a village beyond that and the villages westerly twin in the other direction. We didn't take either road however and instead Isaiah lead me down a gravel driveway which I assumed from the pungent smell of manure, lead to one of the many farms which littered the midland countryside.

"You still got that gun?" he asked me with a short nod to the gates a little way ahead.

I nodded following his gaze, wondering what we needed a gun for now when there was no one around. Wondering why we'd taken a track which clearly wasn't leading us anywhere but someone else's front door.

I was uncertain now, determined but realising the beginnings of my naivety. I might have been related to gangsters but I wasn't a gangster, I wasn't a criminal beyond my toe dipping into dealing at school. I didn't know what we were doing because I didn't know how to think like a criminal. Isaiah did and that was why he was asking about that gun. He knew what I was doing, I did not.

I looked up at Isaiah quietly, I didn't want to hand it over just in case this was all part of an elaborate trick he was playing on me. What if I gave him the gun now and he turned it on me, marched me all the way back to my brother so that they could laugh at me together.

"S'alright," he said holding his hand up to stop me as I slipped my hand behind my back, "don't get it out, you shouldn't need it, just... be ready in case you do..."

"Wh..." I started to ask him the question, about to point out the silence, the lonely place we were stood but he hushed me with his finger to his lip and nodded for me to follow him further up the path and then off it all together.

He tugged me into the trees that lined the path, pushed my body up against a thick trunk and stood behind me, his body shielding my body completely, one hand resting on the bark just above my nose.

"What are we..." I started but he hushed me again.

"Waiting..." he said with a small smirk on his lips imitating my earlier tone, "not time to go yet..."

"I thought you said we had to be quick..." I whispered, the bark on the tree scratching my cheek as I tried to peer round the side of the trunk. I felt so small squished up against the tree like that, helpless too and so out of my depth that it was getting under my skin and I was growing restless. "We're wasting t..."

"Shh!" he said quickly, his voice quiet as he slid his palm over my mouth to silence me. I almost tried to bite him when I heard the sound of tires on gravel. Suddenly I was even more pissed off that I couldn't see past Isaiah's arm blocking my view and I tried to duck beneath his arm but he caught me, his hand on my waist holding me firm and put. "Alright twinkletoes fuckin stay put eh," he chuckled surprising me when with one hand to my chest he pushed me back against the tree trunk, hardly glancing from my wide eyes as he took a gun from the back of his jeans and fired into the road.

My eyes shot open then, wide and starring at him in shock as the sound of the engine cut out and something, someone thudded stone dead to the floor.

Isaiah was grinning when he stepped back from me, his fingers still brushing my chest to keep me still and hidden. He held his finger up silently, "one second" he mouthed but I didn't want to wait for him so when he turned away and stepped quickly into the road, I followed.

I gasped when I saw it. Not with fear or disgust, not with sorrow - all of which would have been perfectly natural responses to the sight of a dead man lying in the road, one leg crushed by his motorbike.

"Fuck," I said with a stunned little giggle, "is he..."

"Fuckin hope so," said Isaiah then, not even bothered that I'd followed when he'd told me not to, too pleased with his stellar aim to be bothered about anything else, "fuckin hate the smug prick..." he said kicking at the mans head, not to check, just because he'd wanted to for a long time. "Reet," he sighed, "come on then, help us shift it..."

"The body or the bike?" I asked with a small smirk, one which set his off and made me think we were more similar than he wanted to admit.

"The bike," he shrugged, "he lives alone out here, no ones finding him until his next whore visits..."

"Seriously?" I bit back a giggle looking down at the middle aged man who lay dead on his back in the road. It wasn't hard to believe Isaiah, everything about the man was giving "da's taking the divorce well" what with his designer pleather jacket and the blue skinny jeans he shouldn't have been wearing. "He gonna get picked at by..."

"Don't be rotten Syl," he grinned, his disgust at my suggestion curdled with his sense of humour, "probably."

"Well," I said crouching down beside him to help him shift the big up off the mans caved in ribs, "not our problem is it..."

I gazed down at the man who was lying there, something about him so inhuman now. Like he'd ceased to be a man and now he was just something else, something which resembled a man but which was somehow much much less. I picked up his hand, it was warm and limp and the blood which seeped from a graze on his palm was sticky with grit and pieces of dirt.

When I looked up at Isaiah he was watching me, his eyes flickering with sympathy so that when he crouched down beside me I realised what he must think.

"This isn't the first dead body I've seen so don't get soft Saiah..." I said thinking of my mother, thinking that that was much worse a sight than this, a stranger, who wasn't even human anymore.

"Am not," he chuckled, "believe me love the last thing you looks scared..." he said a little less amused then. I noticed the caution in his eyes, hidden behind sympathy, a caution...

He was right, I wasn't scared. I was fascinated, morbidly curious and he could tell... He was probably putting the pieces together, probably realising that I really was twice as bad as my big brother...

The Crying Child witnessed Charolette Emily's Death (a theory) Part 2.

Continuing with my theory, there is one thing that needs to be mentioned. When fans were figuring out what the Crying child witnessed that made so distress. The biggest one is that he witnessed the death of his sister Elizabeth. While yes, seeing your sibling being killed right in front of you is traumatising. We know that Circus Baby's Pizza World was openly opened in one day. With him saying the four animatronics plushies are his friends and the fact that he keeps going back to the Pizzeria itself. It makes sense that It is FredBear's Family Diner that he has a problem with.The reason why, he goes there it's because that where his dad, William Afton to get away from his older brother Michael Afton who keeps making things worse for him.

With the missing Children taking place in 1985, it only make sense that the crying child witnessed Charlie's death rather then anyone else's. Another thing to note that the the crying child's favourite ride was the Carousel, the first and only time we see a caurosel up until FNAF Help Wanted 2 is in FNAF 2 where it's located near Balloon Boy, Scott Cawthon said that Nightmare Balloon Boy is Canon which the rest of the other Halloween animatronics are not, however I do think Nightmarrione whom is nightmare version of the puppet could be know seen as Canon. Another thing I believe that the Crying Child may have seen the death of Charlie is because how connected they are. Let's start with the fact that their father were co-owners of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and FredBear's Family Diner. Charlie's age could be either close to Elizabeth and the crying child meaning they may have hang out with one and another.

Another thing is that Steel Wool is probably telling us that Charlie's death and The Crying Child's death took place in the same year. During FNAF Help Wanted 2, you have to collect 6 memory plushies. Many of the plushies tend to be found in games where they have some associated with. Bonnie is found in bonk a Bon, you gotta make 4 chica related food and drinks to get chica, foxy is found in the log ride and freddy is found in fazerblast after being the place getting burnt down.

However the puppet and the golden Freddy's whereabouts are opposite to themselves. The Puppet plushie is found in a sister location game where you opened the drawers and type 1983 to get it. I thought that this was strange because the puppet doesn't have any connection to sister location nor the year itself, while the Golden freddy plushie is found in the hard mode in Fizzy Faz Night 3 where the staff bots are replaced by the nightmare Bots that look like nightmarionne. So it would make sense If they switch the puppet plushie and the golden freddy plushie since 1983 has always been associated with the crying child whom passed away at the year and is one of 2 kids whom possessed Golden Freddy. This is steel wool telling us that 1983 is not only the year where the crying child head gets his head crush but it was also the year of Charlie's Death and I believe that midnight motorist show us that.

When it comes to midnight motorist, the one thing I do find interesting is how sympathetic Michael is towards his little brother. Through the Mini game in FNAF 4, Michael and his friends keep scaring him which causes him to breakdown and cry but in the midnight motorist he is telling his dad to leave him alone since he had a rough day. I see this as at one point, Michael sympathetic towards the crying child because they are mourning over the lost of their sister. I think that William Afton used Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria as his hunting ground and in order to keep his youngest son from going to the place. He probably had Michael to scare him so he ends up fearing the place, however the crying child isn't scared of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria but rather he's scared of Fredbear's Family Diner and the he witnessed Charlie's death outside and it traumatised him so bad.

Fazbear Frights: What We Found Analysis

Here’s my analysis for What We Found, the third story in Gumdrop Angel. I wrote this as I read so it may be a little different than my previous analysis where I read the story first and went back.

If you’re a Michael Afton fan I highly recommend this. Also, there’s possibly some insight into William Afton, Mrs. Afton, and Henry too, so it’s worth a skim.

Pg 144 '...a place thirty-some years forgotten' Just reconfirming FNAF 3 is 30 years past *one* of the FNAF closings, presumably FNAF 2 location.

Pg 145 "The whole building was giving him [Hudson] a headache." FIX THE VENTILATION BRUH

Pg 148 '...they were able to use salvaged derelict equiptment original to the old pizzerias.' Another confirmation of something we heard from Phone Guy.

Pg 147 "How old are you?" "Twenty-three, same as you." I think this gives us Michael's age during FNAF 3.

EDIT: This kept me awake last night. Obviously this is impossible because he has to be alive for at least 10 years before 1983, BUT maybe its just reconfirming FNAF 3′s year? 2023?

Pg 149 "Hudsan's dad died and his mom married Lewis, a ridiculous balding man who wore plaid vests and smoked a pipe" Did... Did this book just seriously imply Mrs. Afton left William for Henry? Really? (Yes, there's differences; the husband is dead and the man wears plaid 'vests' but it seems very odd to include that detail. This could just have been the writer's own imagination, though.) I have seen this as a fan theory and 100% explains the jealousy aspect of William, but I can't help but kinda hate it. I think this is very important, though, and probably Scott's intention. "This horrible little man [Lewis]... would make Hudson's next ten years a living Hell" This REALLY intrigues me given the context I just went over. The text implies Lewis was fairly neglectful to our main character / Michael stand-in Hudson. Maybe I'm wrong and for some reason Mrs. Emily left and went to William? XD Haha, I'm reading too much into this page. Maybe I'll come back to this later. I figure it's more of Scott possibly including double-details (contradicting stuff with the same character that really applies to two, which has been something I heavily pointed out in previous anaylsis on this blog) Having said that, I'm going w/the former because I can't imagine Henry being abusive (neglectful yes, abusive no) and he's never been portrayed that way in official works like William has in the novels.

Pg 150 "Hudson began to screw up in class...a product of spending the night in fear that his stepfather [Lewis]... [would] beat him just for the fun of it." Ooof. Big confirm on William actually being abusive. Unless we stick with the Henry theory for Lewis (combined with Midnight Motorist Henry theory / alcoholic). "...near-daily beatings..." "his mom started taking pills to get through the day..." So, whoever Mrs. Afton is, she was definetly not paying attention. But then, most people married to serial killers either don't notice because of denial (like this) or because the killer is so manipulative / careful they can't notice.

"Barry, who had red hair and freckles..." Yo?! Is that a description of Fritz?! These friends in the story could be the other kids Michael knew's stand-in's, aka the two gravestones with names he used (Fritz and Jeremy), as shown in the checks for the games and FNAF 6. I've long figured Michael was probably friends with the victims--it makes them easier, although riskier, targets [for William]. The two friends are male, too, like Fritz and Jeremy. If you're curious about Duane's description (our stand in for Jeremy), it's "tight black shirt... muscles... black hair long enough for a glossy ponytail..." I'm not sure if this matches anything found in the novels or contradicts them, though. (The novels = TSE trilogy)

"And so it went... until the night of the fire." For context, this is before FF burns down. We're learning of Hudson's life from his close friends in childhood, his father's death, his mother remarrying, to his abusive stepfather, to his grades slipping to this line. This would be a new fire not seen/mentioned in the games...

Pg 151 "...go to Charlie's for a sundae..." Really. Really Scott. Just gonna use this name again. OK. I'm not even gonna discuss this because it's probably irrelevant. *This is confirmed on pg 158 to be an ice cream shop. No lore relevance aside the annoying name coincidences Scott loves to troll with.

"This is not... an advance into enemy territory, a fight with demons, or a descent into Hell..." Uh, what? What is Hudson talking about? XD I'm only noting it because it seems so out of place. He's probably talking about video games or something.

Another note, although I don't have a specific reference since it is mentioned off-hand many times, is that Hudson keeps referring to his "history" which is implied to have kept him from getting a well-paying job and a girl he's crushing on doesn't know this "history" which is good for him. Seems good old "Michael Stand-In" has done some jail time or something. Edit: On pg 154/155 the girl asks Hudson, "Did you do it?" Seems he may have killed his stepfather or been involved with something else just as bad. Edit 2: No, I was thinking too deep into it. This probably refers to Evan's death at Fredbear's. DUH.

Pg 156 describes an actual "prize corner" in FF! What am I even reading? IIRC this is in FNAF 3, too. So they just hand out these scary gift boxes to people that complete the attraction? (Hudson says he *would* have fun handing out the scary toys to kids when this location opens--kind of a bully thing to do, eh?)

"[Hudson] avoid[ed] glancing in any of the mirrors..." I'm only pointing this out because it could be reference to one of two things. 1) We know because of one of UCN's music tracks, William has a fear of his reflection. Michael probably shares this trait, especially since 2) after Ennard and all... and later on pg 157 it also says, "he never wanted to face: himself" Sounds like guilt, my guy.

Pg 157 "blonde hair... blue eyes..." Hudson shares an eye color with Michael. It's possible Michael had blonde hair as a child and it changed to brown (it's common, something I personally went through being technically blonde/ blue eyed myself)

"He [Hudson] knew from personal experience that toys could turn from fun...to torture ina heart-beat" Fairly self explanatory. Either Hudson's worked at a creepy location before or he doesn't like remembering Fredbear's.

*checks how much is left.* There's still 35 pages (not counting back/front) left of this... This is gonna be a lot of notes.

Pg 158 Hudson doesn't have a car. Poor Mike, probably having to walk everywhere. Especially as a corpse.

Pg 160 This page describes many physical issues Hudson has that prevents him from entering the Navy, all from the abuse of Lewis. Obvious paralell to Michael becoming an undead [because his father sent him to CBPR indirectly causing his condition]

Pg 161 "How's your granny, Hud?... ...Is she still alive?" "I don't think she can die." Does anyone in the Afton family really 'die'? XD

Pg 162 These few pages discuss Hudson's grandmother. She's described as "a seer who claimed to know the future... ...wore big men's plaid flannel shirts with baggy jeans" Um, more plaid / flannel? AGH. STAHP. Lowkey, I would totally headcanon my Aunt Jen like this, though.

Pg 163 "Hudson's mom... the way she was before Hudson's dad had died... never... particularly warm and fuzzy... but... effiencient and responsible..." More about Mrs. Afton, so that's kinda neat.

"Hudson's dad was fun and attentive." There's a good Dad in this series?

"Unfortunetly, he also struggled with mental illness." "invisible low points" (Pg 164) Kinda reminds me of how Henry is described after Charlotte's death in the books.

Pg 164 "When Steven got himself into a bad deal that cost him his small business... he'd taken his life." Oh, it is Henry! SMH. Way to use confusing paralells. So, from our understanding thus far, Hudson's real father, Steven, is our Henry stand-in. His step-father despite being described similar to Henry, is actually our William stand-in. Fair game, Scott.

Pg 164 "...he [Hudson] was locked into a supply closet..." Oh shit, you guys. So, let me go on a tangent here, because this IS important! I just watched a retrospective on Sister Location and FNAF 6 earlier and one theory for Midnight Motorist was the person in the chair was the mother and the kid was Michael. I think this little line may confirm that. In fact, the story may be the key to figuring things out. Obviously, the line is a paralell to FNAF 4's scene in which Crying Child was locked in the supply closet of Fredbear's. I know some people, including Matpat, believe[d] CC was Michael, and in this book's context, it sort of works. This does contradict Step Closer and 1000 other things that make Michael the older brother, but maybe it's hinting at MM? Abusive stepdad (possibly Henry... maybe William is gone at this point), checked out Mom (hey, grey couch lady with Foxybro's font). IDK, but its definetly something to think about.

Pg 165 Lewis is mentioned as calling Hudson "nothing" and saying "you're nothing" on several occasions on this page. Just more abuse, for those accurate fanfic writers like me. Also I kinda wanna watch Morel Orel again. Yall know my fav character is Clay. Yall know.

"You're smoke." <-- Lewis / The text later reads, "...there was some irony, given what eventually happened." BRUH. Why did your stepdad die in a fire? :V TELL ME.

"When his family's house burned down at the end of his senior year..." Huh. Is there a fire we don't know about in the game-verse? Could this explain what happened to the FNAF 4 house before MM house?!

"...it purged Hudson of Lewis and his mother." MRS. AFTON BURNED ALIVE, TOO? Bruh. I can't with this story.

The text later describes the fire is concluded to be man-made and Hudson was blamed for it. Can't say if this ties to Michael, but it IS interesting... TBF, there is a small paralell to draw between Henry in FNAF 6 and his history of suicide in the books, too.

Pg 166 "...this place's [FF] busted thermostat.." I just find this line funny.

Pg 167 "...after three weeks of keeping an eye on the place" Some more timeline context for FNAF 3. We know that Michael worked there a little while before we start playing the game thanks to one of the phone calls, IIRC, so this makes sense. If Michael was accused of [something] and also wanting to hunt down his father, then it makes perfect sense why he's working a dead end job at Freddy's over and over and over. Fun fun fun.

Pg 169 "He hated to think about a functional character [Foxy]" This line is in regards to Hudson not liking the set up of Pirate's Cove and Foxy's hook to scare people. Sounds familiar, don't it? (For Michael anyway.)

Pg 173 "Some big find is arriving tomorrow." SPRINGY BOI! COME ON BOOK, get on with the show?

Pg 176 "Granny was wearing a red-and-green plaid shirt and her baggy jeans." Nothing special, but it was specifically brought up twice. I'm kind of racking my brain trying to understand what the point of this character is outside of "woooo everything is haunted don't you know that" kind of character.

Pg 180 "...dropped the crate on the linoleum with a resounding thud." HEY. Poor Springtrap, just gettin' tossed around like the trash he is.

Pg 186 "If you weren't so stupid, I'd tell you more about it." Springtrap bringing the burn. =:)

"A voice with a burr-like rasp...hint of a Southern accent" I'm going to assume this is because it's Lewis probably in the suit in this story and not our old British lad.

"It's was Mr. Atkin's voice." THE MATH TEACHER? *goes back to check* 'The algebra teacher'. Okay...

Pg 190 Okay, so Hudson hear's Lewis' voice this time. Okay, I get it now. Springtrap in this kind of imbodies all of Hudson's old bullies, including the teacher. He also has PTSD, just FYI. IDK if anyone finds that important, but it's fairly obvious by the line "He wasn't in his bedroom. Lewis didn't just slam his head into a desk; his head had been slammed into the [arcade] game."

"Why did he hallucinate a scene from his childhood?" Oh, it's not PTSD, then. It's just the VENTILATION ERROR. lol Okay.

Just a note, as I'm reading through the more action-based stuff, I kind of feel bad for Michael if he had flashbacks like this guy. They're intense.

So, Lewis' voice finally comes out of Springtrap on Pg 213. There's that.

Pg 220 "You can just stay there [in his room]" Kind of a paralell to Midnight Motorist. Lewis is saying it to Hudson. I really feel like the kid in the MM game is Michael because of this story...

Pg 223 "Heat purges. Fire heals." I'm sure that's Henry's life motto.

The ending was stupid, but most in these stories are. Hudson is hallucinating and is implied to have burned himself alive in FF's oven. Meh? The first half of this one is A TRIP and a little insight into what I 100% believe is Michael's childhood. I think the saddest part of it all is that we never got Springtrap speaking to Michael in FNAF 3--and if it's ever remade I hope we get more of them interacting.

Summary: Due to unforeseen circumstances (and a bit of procrastination), Peter runs out of time to prepare for his Spanish presentation and ends up faking sick to buy himself some more.

He just wasn’t really counting on Tony being the one to pick him up from school.

Apparently it takes a village to write a story lol—thanks to @xxx-cat-xxx, @sallyidss, @fandomsficsandfeels, & @seek-rest for beta-reading and ideas, and @lunannex for Spanish help!

“What if I just like… fake my death?” Peter suggests as he hands his mentor a different sized wrench. “They can’t mark me down for not doing it if I’m dead, right?”

Tony, who is currently bent over their latest project (replacing the timing belt in May’s car), snorts. “As someone who’s been officially presumed dead more than once, can’t say I recommend it. Way too much paperwork.”

Peter sighs. “Can we stage a kidnapping then?” he says hopefully. “Or an alien abduction?”

Tony rolls his eyes. “It’s a four-minute speech, not the end of the world—though I have some experience with that too.” He holds out a hand. “Half inch ratchet.”

“A four-minute speech in Spanish,” Peter emphasizes, passing him the requested tool. “Which is a language I don’t speak.”

“Hence why you’re in Spanish class,” Tony counters. “With all the other kids who can’t speak Spanish.”

“But it’s also like ten percent of my grade,” Peter goes on as his mentor loosens the timing belt and removes it from the engine before handing it to Peter to set aside. “And I have to talk about what I do in a typical week, and it’s not like I can say I go patrolling or come over to the compound, so I’m gonna have to make stuff up—”

Tony interrupts, “Yo veo mucha televisión,” he says sagely.

“—and then what if I get up there and forget everything and just sound stupid?” Peter continues his rant. He groans and passes Tony the replacement belt. “Maybe I should just conveniently get the flu on Wednesday.”

Looking up from the engine, Tony raises an eyebrow at him. “Are you really this stressed about it? Because if you need to focus on school, I could just finish this up myself.”

Peter sighs again and runs a hand through his hair—he hadn’t meant to complain this much, he’d just kind of gotten on a roll after Tony asked him how school was going. “No, no… I wanted to come over—really. And I’ve got three more days to work on it, it’s just like… ugh. I should have taken German instead.”

Tony huffs out a short laugh. “Pretty sure they have to speak in German class too.”

“Yeah but MJ’s not in German…” Peter mutters under his breath.

“What was that?” Tony asks, elbow deep in the engine block.

Peter expels a breath. “Nothing, it’s fine,” he says a bit more audibly, trying to convince himself as much as his mentor. So what if the most observant and shrewd person in his year also happens to be in his Spanish class?

(And so what if he might have a bit of a crush on her?)

Tony chuckles. “You’ll do great, kid,” he assures. “Just make sure you practice.”

Peter forces a smile. “Right, yeah, of course.”

Practicing, however, turns out to be easier said than done.

With finals fast approaching, it’s crunch time for all of Peter’s classes. Whatever spare moments he has over the weekend are spent finishing up his Animal Farm essay for the English summative and cramming for his geometry test Monday morning. The upcoming Spanish presentation hangs over his head, but it’s more annoying than anything else. He figures it should be fairly simple to actually bullshit something and translate it if he just sits down and does it (which, ironically, somehow makes it easier to push off).

He’s intending to work on it Monday evening, but a winter storm hits that afternoon, dumping eight inches of snow and ice on the city. Peter spends most of his patrol assisting with minor traffic accidents and helping stranded motorists scrape ice from their vehicles or shovel cars out of parking spaces. By the time he gets home late that night, he’s too exhausted to do much more than sit on the couch with May and drink cocoa while she watches Grey’s Anatomy reruns.

Oh well. He’s still got time.

Peter tries to make good use of his study hall on Tuesday, but the period ends up being kind of a wash. He spends half the time attempting to come up with something to say that is both interesting enough to make him seem not totally lame while still believable enough to fool MJ, and the other half messing around on his phone and trying to recall the name of the annoying song stuck in his head.

(It was ‘Goodbye’ by The Spice Girls.)

He’s intending to finish the presentation Tuesday evening after he gets home, but then Ned throws an unexpected monkey wrench into his plans just before the final bell rings.

“So I gotta be there early for warm ups, but my mom will pick you up around six, okay?” he tells Peter as they pack up their book bags.

Peter frowns, confused. “...Pick me up?”

Ned tilts his head. “Unless May can give you a ride after all? But I thought you said she was working tonight, right?”

All of a sudden it clicks—tonight is Ned’s first band concert. He’d taken up percussion a few months back in an effort to beef up his extracurriculars for his college applications. Peter agreed to go to the performance weeks ago.

“Oh right right right,” Peter quickly covers. “Six is great. I’ll see her then!”

Ned beams. “Awesome! My sister and her boyfriend are coming too, so we might go out to celebrate afterwards!”

“Yeah, awesome!” Peter agrees, forcing a grin. “That should be really fun.”

(Oh yeah, he’s screwed.)

The concert was cool. Ned hit that triangle with all the required enthusiasm whenever his parts came up, and Peter flashed him loads of encouraging thumbs-ups from the audience. When it was over, they all went out to Denny’s for some mediocre late-night pancakes and the usual Leeds family banter. All in all, a pretty fun night.

When Peter gets home a little after ten, he opens his Spanish doc in one tab and promptly falls into a YouTube hole in another while looking for background music. He’s still grinning when he closes out of his fifth vine compilation video in a row until he checks the time a second later and the grin dissolves. It’s 12:03 a.m.

Oops.

Study hall Wednesday morning will be his saving grace, he’s sure.

So, of course, a fight has to break out right outside of the library.

It’s not too bad—the two instigating students are hauled away by security with a couple bloody noses and black eyes, and a few other kids are taken down to the office for questioning. Peter was far enough removed from the action that he doesn’t have to come along, but the whole debacle eats up all but the last ten minutes of the period so when the bell finally rings, he’s got precisely five words written down:

Hola, me llamo Peter Parker.

(Suddenly all those jokes about faking his own death are starting to sound a lot more appealing.)

Or if not my death, he thinks as he trudges down the hall in the direction of his Spanish classroom, cold dread pooling in his gut, then at least…

He stops walking, glancing sideways into the brightly lit office just off the hall. The elderly nurse is sitting at her desk, glasses half-way down her nose as she reads a paperback novel with the picture of a Christmasy log cabin on the cover.

No. He can’t. He doesn’t lie.

...Unless…

No. May’s at work. She’d have to leave early to come and pick him up.

Okay, but it’s not like you do this often, his brain counters. Hell, you came to school with a concussion and two cracked ribs last month and didn’t say a word about it. May can take one for the team just this once.

Peter slips into the bathroom across the hall and waits there until the bell rings to signal the end of passing period, and then an additional five minutes on top of that to add some credibility to his act. He splashes a bit of cold water on his forehead and around his neck, and then works himself up with some heavy breathing before exiting the bathroom.

Folding his arms over his stomach, Peter moves shakily across the hall back toward the nurse’s office, making an effort to look as unwell as possible. A passing student eyes him suspiciously and gives him a wide berth, so he figures he must be doing something right.

Steeling himself with a shuddery breath, he steps into the office.

“Hall pass?” the nurse asks without looking up from her book.

“Um, no, I don’t have one, uh…” Peter’s heart is fluttering in his chest. “I just… I’m not feeling good.”

Eyes still on the page, the nurse silently taps a finger to a sign on the wall just behind her desk which reads: PASSES REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS.

Peter swallows hard. C’mon, Parker—commit. “Right, but, uh, I came from the bathroom.” He hugs himself a little tighter and looks down. “My stomach really hurts. I was throwing up and, uh… stuff,” he concludes, deciding that in this case, less is more.

The nurse’s expression softens. She lowers her novel and gets to her feet with a small sigh. “Well, there is a bug going around,” she concedes, gesturing for him to sit down on the cot in the back of her office.

Peter keeps his responses vague when she requests more specific information on his symptoms, mostly offering shrugs or short, mumbled answers. She checks his temperature and seems slightly suspicious at his lack of fever, but he makes up for it by getting up suddenly and darting into the nurse’s bathroom.

When he emerges—exactly seven minutes and two new levels of Candy Crush later—Peter makes sure to keep his eyes averted from the nurse’s gaze and his movements slow and a little unsteady, one hand hovering over his stomach. She gives him a bottle of Gatorade and a couple of crackers and tells him to lie down until May comes to pick him up.

“I got ahold of her,” the nurse informs, sounding more sympathetic now. She slides a small garbage bin beside the cot. “She says she’s just finishing something up at work and then she’ll be right over.”

“Thank you,” Peter mutters tiredly. He doesn’t even have to act for that part—between the stress of his upcoming finals and his last couple of late nights, he really is exhausted and he has a bit of a headache. It makes him feel just the slightest bit better about pulling May away from her shift that there’s at least something physically wrong with him, even if it isn’t what he’s claiming.

Under the thin fleece blanket the nurse gives him, Peter manages to drift off to sleep.

But it turns out, today is just really not his day.

“No fever yet, but sometimes with these kinds of bugs that doesn’t come until later,” Peter overhears the nurse explaining in a low voice. He’s lying curled up on the cot, face toward the wall. “If that happens, just remember that he needs to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.”

“Oh, I have a feeling that won’t be a problem,” a familiar voice that definitely does not belong to Aunt May replies.

“Mr. Stark?” Peter’s eyes snap open fully and he sits up in a hurry.

Tony and the nurse are standing together beside her desk, chatting quietly. Tony turns to look at Peter, face straight but eyebrows raised in amusement. “Oh would you look at that—he lives,” he remarks. “Feeling any better, Pete?”

Immediately, Peter wraps an arm around his stomach and does his best to look ill. “Uh, no, not really... but, um wh-what are you doing here?”

“The hospital is a little short-staffed today and your aunt was having trouble finding someone to cover her shift,” Tony explains, keeping his expression perfectly neutral. “She called to ask if I minded picking you up. You know”—his eyes narrow—“since you’re so sick.”

(Peter gulps. He’s starting to wonder if maybe he’ll be sick after all.)

“So of course, I told her I would,” Tony goes on. “I mean, if you’re feeling this bad, we could hardly just leave you here...”

Peter has to force himself to meet Tony’s gaze. “Right. Um, thank you. That’s super nice of you.”

“Well, you know me, Tony Super-Nice Stark,” his mentor says with a small chuckle as he steps closer to the bed.

“Now, with stomach bugs, the biggest concern is going to be dehydration,” the nurse continues. “So you’re going to want to push fluids, especially if he’s having di—”

“Fluids, got it,” Peter cuts her off, feeling his cheeks heat up. He gets to his feet and starts moving toward the door, but Tony halts him by grabbing his arm.

“Hey, hey, slow down, kid,” Tony tuts at him. “You were just looking like you might pass out a minute ago.” He presses his palm to Peter’s forehead and glances over to the nurse, eyebrows pinched together in the semblance of concern. “He’s kinda flushed, right? Maybe we should check his temperature again.”

“It’s fine,” Peter mutters, barely managing to suppress an eye-roll. “I think I just need to go home and sleep.”

“Sleep is probably the best thing for him,” the nurse agrees, nodding. “But going back to dehydration, if at any point it’s been more than five hours since he’s last urinated—”

“Mr. Stark, c’mon…” Peter whines quietly, nudging the man toward the door.

Tony holds up a finger to shush him—there’s a twinkle in his eyes that’s honestly driving Peter mad. “Hang on, kiddo. This is all very important information. In fact”—he pulls out his phone and opens the notes app—“let me just write this down. So you said if he hasn’t peed in five hours…?”

The nurse goes on to happily share her wealth of knowledge regarding stomach viruses with his mentor. Tony nods along to her advice, looking genuinely interested the entire time, occasionally interrupting to ask pertinent questions. Meanwhile, Peter just stands there, quietly dying a little inside.

Finally, she concludes her little spiel and Tony thanks her politely, then asks, “You wouldn’t happen to have a bin or bag or something we could take with us, would you? I just got the car detailed recently—hate for that to go to waste.”

Peter lets out another low groan. “Mr. Stark…”

“Ah, I have just the thing!” the nurse says. She bustles over behind her desk and produces a plastic sand pail with assorted Paw Patrol characters on it. “I get these from the dollar store,” she informs. “They don’t look like they hold too much but you’d be surprised!”

Tony grins. “That’s perfect. Thank you so much, Alice.” Looking to Peter, he asks, “Need the bathroom before we leave?”

Rolling his eyes at his mentor, Peter takes the bucket from the nurse with a muttered “thanks” and strides directly out the door.

Tony doesn’t say anything for the entire walk to the car, but Peter’s mind is happy to fill the silence with dread and anxious thoughts as he imagines all the various ways his mentor might chew him out about this. Stupid Spanish presentation—he should have just winged it after all.

The moment that both he and Tony are seated in the vehicle and the car doors are shut behind them, Peter sets the bucket down on the floor and covers his face with a groan.

“Alright, let’s get it over with,” he mutters into his hands. “Lay it on me.”

“Just to clarify,” Tony begins, sounding a bit more serious. “You’re not actually sick, right? This was just to get out of your presentation?”

“Yeah, I dunno...” Peter admits, feeling defeated. “I was planning to work on it—I swear. Just, well, there was all this stuff due for my other classes, and then the snowstorm, and all these commitments just kept coming up, and I just kinda... ran out of time. Figured if I got sent home I could buy myself an extra day or two.” He sighs deeply, lowering his hands to look up at his mentor. “Are you gonna tell May?”

Tony huffs out a short laugh. “Honestly? I think you’ve suffered enough.”

Peter blinks at him, surprised. “Wait, seriously?”

“You listened to a school nurse describe the BRAT diet for three whole minutes,” Tony says with a snort. “I don’t think any lecture May or I could give would top that.”

“God,” Peter groans, running a hand over his face. “If I hear the word ‘binding’ used one more time…”

“But,” Tony says, holding up a stern finger as he starts the car. “As soon as we get back to your place, we’re finishing up that presentation in time for your miraculous recovery tomorrow, got it?”

“We?” Peter raises an eyebrow at him. “Do you even speak Spanish?”

Tony waves a hand dismissively. “I know French and Italian—close enough. More importantly, I am fluent in the language of bullshit, kid. I once convinced an entire board of investors that not adding a clock feature to the new Starkphone prototype was a philosophical statement about the ‘futility of time as a construct’ rather than an embarrassing oversight caused by deadline crunches, no sleep, and more caffeine flowing through my veins than red blood cells.”

“And how did that go?” Peter asks.

“Sold twelve thousand shares that day. And I got to meet the Dalai Lama.”

Peter just snorts.

“Oh, and there was this other time,” Tony goes on wryly, “when I helped my intern play hooky to get out of a school presentation by convincing the nurse he had the shits.”

Peter leans back against the seat with a heavy sigh. “I’m never doing this again, Mr. Stark,” he mumbles.

Chat Noir was fuming.

Who did Luka think he was, talking about Marinette like that!? 'Amazing'!? Of course, Marinette's amazing! She's way more than just amazing! She's kind and strong and funny and…!

…well, she's kinda weird too, but in an attractive way, if that was a thing. Which was good for Adrien, since she tended to be that way more often than not around him.

Chat paused in his pacing and smirked to himself. Was it bad how self-satisfied he felt when he could get her flustered enough to elicit some of those crazy responses? Was it bad how often he maybe did it on purpose?

Chat took a few steps to lean on the railing of the rooftop he had stopped on to look to the balcony across the way. The lights of the Tour de Eiffel shone brightly, bathing the scene in a replica of yellow moonlight, giving the shared space a charming, almost ethereal glow. The scene was rendered to near perfect by the excited buzz of couples and tourists buzzing around in the parc by Marinette's house and the motorists hurrying along to enjoy the views of the Ville de l'Amour, 'City of Love'.

But all Chat Noir could concentrate on was how he had already been rejected by the girl of his dreams, and now, too suddenly for him to be able to properly wrap his head around, found the girl he himself had rejected had become something of an exhilarant to his insides.

"Marinette! Really? Love m-me!? I…I mean, I don't know what to say…. No, Mar, I don't feel the same way…

"I'm sorry."

He hated that he remembered every word of that conversation.

It was unfair.

Driving through the seedy little town took less than thirty seconds but to be honest, it gave me the creeps. I checked my speed twice, imagining being pulled over by “Jim Bob” who’d regretfully inform us he’d have to take me and “the pretty lady there” down to the jail to pay a fine (cue banjo music) and the Mecca Tavern, crouched at the edge of town, looked a likely Dusk Till Dawn trap, where a gap-toothed grin and MAGA hat were style du jour. 

We didn’t see any cops but we sure felt we were seen, so when the GPS suggested we not go back through the creepy town to return to civilization, for once, I thought it fucking genius.  I turned right to cross over the river on a concrete and asphalt bridge, beside the one made of red and white wood we’d come to see (they were all red and white) and we headed straight at a weird towering wall.  cue Mad Max music

Both went back to their drinks, not noticing Shayne slowly pulling into the café, spotting the two cops as he did so. He slowly drove towards them, his mind racing as he pulled up to them. Vic was the first one to notice, eyeing the fresh dents and broken grill, raising an eye ridge in the process.

An added bonus was that he was gonna be close to the Caprice, which made his fuel plump flutter at the thought.

Nobody except Moira and the other girl, and only Moira would care.

She felt it, somewhere, but her eyes didn’t even flicker. She had learnt not to show that kind of emotion. Instead she nodded and forced a smile as they walked arm-in-arm down the road. They were careful not to step on any cracks.
