if the agrestes weren't rich i think that gabriel would be the normal one. like gabe's problem is that he stopped running into natural limits due to absurd wealth and his obsessive nature led him to develop some kind of god complex where he won't accept that anything is out of his control. I think that if gabe was broke again and just simply couldn't afford to go on an international goose chase for ancient magic artifacts of untold power, if he had to work a 9-5 to live and couldn't just disappear into his basement lair to commit domestic terrorism and say evil monologues to himself, then he would be way more normal. he'd just be some guy. he might even let himself have a mowhawk again. but I think that emilie would be way LESS normal if they weren't rich. like emilie needs so many people to be obsessed with her so much all the time in order for her to function. and gabe would still have his toxic codependent obsession with her, sure, but that wouldn't be nearly enough. emilie has to be at the center of the world's spotlight at all times because she doesn't know how to exist if she's not performing. anyway all this to say I am so certain that if the agrestes were not disgustingly wealthy, emilie agreste would one million percent be running a massive family vlogger youtube channel

Something that I've been meaning to say about Miraculous's "Rich Girls".............
Before I even go into this, All you Lila, Chloe, and Kagami stans out there I suggest to skip this post, leave disgusting comments and I'll block and report you because I'm saying it now, that I will be saying some things about Lila, Chloe, and Kagami that aren't really pretty. If you like their characters "Yay!" good for you,
Tumblr media
Nobody cares. grow up
So........something has been on my mind lately and I would like to get it off my chest because it's just been stuck in my head and I think it's good if I do make some clear points that clearly people are missing in regards to the show's "rich girls". So Marinette.....has been going through alot this past season and people are saying stupid things like "Oh wE NEeD a NEw LAdyBUg!"
Or "oH MArINeTtE iS teRRiBlE At dOiNg heR jOB!"
Let's dive right into this
I'll start with Chloe first. Chloe bullied Marinette. She has for 7 whole fucking years. Marinette has done nothing to Chloe literally. She hasn't bullied her, talked about her, criticized her, she has done nothing to that girl. But oh! Chloe is some rich snobbish brat that thinks everyone below her should be treated less of a human than she is. Where was her mom when Chlow started to go to school with Marinette? Also Chloe's mom not playing a big part of her life doesn't excuse her terrible behavior and awful treatment she has given marinette and students at her school. Just because her mom is a total snob and shallow person doesn't mean Chloe has to be exactly like her. It's okay for Chloe to express sadness and frustration but what's not okay if for Chloe to lash out all her negativity on Marinette as if Marinette has done something to her. Her parents have really failed her and she has failed herself. She's so full of herself that I'm starting to believe she's delusional. Clinging onto Adrien 24/7 at school like their some type of couple is already mouth-gagging. Like girl, he is not some toy that is all yours and that you can just cling yourself onto. I'm glad Marinette calls her out on her bullshit and handles Chloe's ass and she's not afraid to do so.
And that tacky ass makeup really defeats the purpose because it's makes her look worser than her personality. Tired of these blonde stuck up popular rich girls that think they can just overrule people.
Treating everybody around her like her peasants is clichè mean girl shit. I'm willing to go as far as to say she's a fucking narcissist. Having excessive interest and admiration for herself and treating everybody around her like shit as if she's 10 times more important than they are when in reality she's nothing but a spoiled brat that's jealous because she knows Marinette is better than her.
2nd to last....Lila
Literally 'lie' is in her name. She lies her mouth off and thinks she's fooling every fucking body. Marinette knows damn well she's lying and tells her up to her face in Chameleon. I'm sorry but her lies are ridiculous and the class is so undeniably stupid for believing her bullshit. Yea she's another "spoiled rich girl" her mom is present in her life but we know nothing about her dad. Don't know what happened to him and I don't care to know what happened to him. I know one thing though. Just like in Chloe's case, her dad being absent doesn't make it "okay" for her to be a two-faced person who can pathologically lie to people for personal gain. That's disgusting and weak of a person. She literally frames Marinette and corners her in the bathroom to a wall and pushed herself down the steps to look like she's actually injured. Her fans can try to shed all the light they want on her character but that's never gonna erase all the terrible shit she's done. And once again! Marinette has done nothing to Lila and somehow Marinette is Lila's main target. She lied about her friendship with Ladybug just to impress a boy. Her negativity she's trying to pass onto Marinette isn't working because Marinette is strong and optimistic. I can't believe she had fans, cough looks like a knock-off version of Dora cough. She's so stupid she really thinks Adrien wants to be with someone like her. A liar and manipulative bitch. lol
Kagami.......
"But Jen she's only been a character since season-
Yea I already know how long she's been in the show but that doesn't mean that I'm going to get her the benefit of the doubt. First time she met Marinette she treated her terribly as if Marinette did anything to her. Then again, people like to claim she's from a strict household so that gives her an excuse when it really doesn't. Secondly Kagami in general seems phony, Marinette is trying to be her friend and give up on Adrien just for her!!! and so she can grow as a person!!!!! Kagami chose Adrien over Marinette while Marinette gave up Adrien just so Kagami can have him. Seems like the only reason Kagami really wants to be friends with Marinette is because of Adrien. But let's not get into that.... In Animeastro she acted like she had a problem Marinette was talking to Adrien. I just don't get her at all. One minute she wants to be Marinette's friend (which I believe is completely fake) and then the next she's glaring daggers at her as if she did anything to her.
I don't even want to fucking hear "Oh but Jenny, Marinette didn't confes- SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. Marinette has tried time after time to confess she's always getting interrupted. Kagami thinks of Adrien like some prize to win all for herself after only knowing him for not too long. Give me a break then she's the one who got akumatized over a fucking picture instead of asking Adrien "hey, what's this?" She got salty and got akumatized. In Frozer, Adrien told her that he had feelings for someone else, she jumped to conclusions and thought it was fucking Marinette and suggested him to "switch targets" he told her he wouldn't and she still pushes him to literally kissing him and then getting mad because he rejected it. Girl! Did he not fucking say that he has feelings for another girl and he won't be switching targets. She's really that desperate that she's telling Adrien to get over that other girl, and she's so fucking desperate she tried to kiss him then got mad when he didn't kiss her back. Let's not forget she literally cut out the fencing class picture and left Adrien and herself out. Then she gave us a little "insight" on how she views Adrien in Oni-Chan. "Image of Perfection" she likes Adrien because he's perfect? That's funny. Because for 1, he's not nobody is and for 2 that's a stupid reason to like somebody. Let's not also forget when she literally lied in Miracle Queen about the villain attacking people in love. She knows Adrien likes somebody else so why is she trying so hard to push into being with her? Desperate much? "We're so alike" and Kagami really believes their soulmates? She should just shut the fuck up. She sounds stupid as fuck. How are you "soulmates" with someone you just met not too long ago. Bless her delusional soul. After he rejected her kiss and only knowing him for 2 seasons. Liiiiike......are you that desperate for a boy. I can't wait to see her reaction to when Adrien dates Marinette. Lmao
Tumblr media
It's so funny how all these girls think Adrien's theirs when in reality Marinette is his true soulmate and is gonna end up with him in the end. Adrienette is literally endgame. There's no need for people like Chloe, Lila, and Kagami to get on the way of that. It's also funny how people like to claim Marinette as the possessive one when all these rich spoiled brats have gotten akumatized over him, cling onto him like he's some coat rack, and go out their way to make Marinette feel terrible. And marinette has given Adrien up. The only real clear reason I can see the 3 of them act bitchy towards marinette without a reason would be because they're jealous and don't have the best lives at home and wish to be like marinette.
If I'm not mistaken who's the one that got bullied for 7 years straight and tries her very best to be strong? Who's the one that literally got sexually harassed by Felix? Who's the one who has anxiety? Who's the one who has pressure and responsibilities hunched all over their shoulders? Who's the one that has go around every fucking day to save their city? Oh okay. Everybody always wants to talk about how tough they are without actually going through some real shit. Because I don't recall Lila, Chloe or Kagami going through any of these things while treating Marinette like shit. Kagami is the one that lied to Adrien, Kagami is the one that treated Marinette like crap, Kagami is the one that pushed Adrien after he said he had feelings for someone else /this b*tch didn't even wait/, Kagami is the one that is acting like Lila and Chloe. Let Marinette act like how Kagami did, I'm pretty sure she would've got bashed.
Once they go through all that bullshit then we can chit chat until then, they don't know what struggle is. Spoiled ass brats who clearly don't deserve Adrien because they're immature. They think Adrien's "theirs" they pushed themselves on him as if they can't live without him and they do sneaky shit in order to be with him. Lila and Kagami have clearly showed they would lie to get with him and Chloe does too. Marinette has the courage to let Adrien go, I'm pretty sure if the shoe was on the other foot Kagami would never let Adrien go.
And before people go around saying how it's their parents fault they act do toxically and immature (bc ppl like to give them excuses for their "mommy and daddy" issues) it's really not. Yes, it's partially their parents because they raised them but they also have a big role for their actions. No body is responsible for making Chloe, Lila, or Kagami a better person. No body. Stop putting the blame all on their parents because it's not just the parents I'm pretty sure Tomoe didn't teach Kagami to "lie" in order to get with a boy. Kagami chose to lie to Adrien in Miracle Queen with her own free will. Nobody said "lie to Adrien" Kagami lied that's her fault Nobody told Chloe to bully and belittle Marinette, Audrey is very shallow and brat-like but I don't recall her ever saying "Chloe bully Marinette" Nobody told Lila to constantly lie and manipulate people hell, her mom doesn't even know she's doing it! None of their parents are responsible for certain shit they do so stop pretending like their innocent kids that have horrible parents. I don't have time to analyze if Kagami is like Chloe and Lila or not because I know she is like them she acts just like them. Treats marinette like crap but acts different when Adrien's around. Simple. I tried to give her character a chance in Oni-Chan but after hearing how she views Adrien and how she acted in Miracle Queen I hated her even more than I did before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Truth be told, Chloe, Lila, nor Kagami are nothing without Adrien. If we're really gonna go there. Their just some pointless characters that want to get in the way of things and can't stay in their places. Marinette made this show, she's the center of the plot, without her their is no Chloe, without her there is no Lila, without her there is no Kagami.
Call me absent-minded but I see alot of jealous hoes and I'm not with that shit at all. Sorry not sorry

Thoughts & Reactions to Sole Crusher & Queen Banana!
Here's my 2 in 1! Starting with Sole Crusher. Loved the tourist feel in the beginning, gives it a very different feel and interesting to see it from Zoe's perspective. Aww Zoe's so nice to Marinette right away. And it's awfully sad that she only ever had one friend. :c I wonder who that friend is? Zoe's right about her family not appreciating the baked goods from the Dupain-Cheng bakery. I don't know if she's fully aware of the history there, or if she just knows how picky her mother and sister are. But it was awfully sweet of her to give them to the tour guide to give to her family instead. So Zoe learned: in order to survive, she had to put on an act and be somebody she's not, because her family wouldn't accept her being a decent person that cares about others. When asked about her middle school, her response, "I found a cockroach in my locker!" Might not be true, doesn't sound like it's the only thing at all if so, but sadly it was enough for her mom to not question anything.
Chloe's definitely a lot worse now after Miracle Queen. In my opinion, this is us beginning to see how low she's gotten and will continue to get. As Avatar Aang once said, "When we reach our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change." I'll write more on this in a separate post later. Zoe's sure scared to object to anything and be herself. Not even hesitating to act like a brat when around Chloe. If she didn't end up growing up around Chloe, how horrible are her parents??? We know Audrey is pretty bad, but even then if she had a decent dad she'd likely not end up like this. I suppose we'll have to see, but this poor girl. :/ Rose: Can we adopt her? Lol awww. Wonderful of Marinette to know that after only one brief encounter with Zoe, she knows that the Zoe at school isn't really her, and wants to genuinely help. How can anybody hate that about her? I don't get it. If it's because she doesn't do things how you'd like them...Most things in life won't go as you want them, or be taken by others as you may intend them, so you have to appreciate what's there and the intent of others actions. "But my family made me think that to deserve my place, I had to give up on some of my dreams." If Andre's talking about his parents here, as he said "When I was young", then oof this poor man, no wonder he's so timid and such a pushover. If he's referring to Audrey and Chloe... then that's a huge oof because Audrey knew exactly who she was marrying and should've never ended up with him in the first place if she didn't want to be with a director. So Zoe left because she couldn't stand it in New York anymore around her dad and the kids at her school. She hoped that she wouldn't have to act anymore and could just be herself. It really sounds like she needed to act a certain way in order to survive getting bullied, or worse. Dang, she really must not have met Chloe before then, or heard anything about her if she thought living with her mom and sister would be better. But in a way, it is better for her, because she has Marinette and the kids at school now. And she has Andre who's probably a better parent to her than her actual parents. Which is surprising and also not at the same time. "We end up hiding our feelings deep down in here." Okay so he says that with a booklet that has Emilie's face on it held up to his chest. Now, it may just be nothing but him thinking about his director dream. But. It could've also been any other object he held to his heart, it could've been something without a face on it or at least not her face. And Andre did work with Emilie. So I would not be surprised at all if there was something there that this is hinting at. Hmmmm. Also, I guess that's not Tomoe Tsurugi? Even though it's Kagami's model they used. And she's really pretty, too! Maybe something will come from this, or the animators didn't think it through when they added that image. Who knows. Even Chloe's first thought when she's in trouble is to go to Marinette what the heck 😂 When Kaalki teleported into Adrien's room...had Adrien turned around as it
happened he would've seen enough of her room to recognize it. Instead the portal changed and was outdoors. But lol poor Kaalki slamming against the window! All his things getting sucked in and Plagg's cheese was hilarious. XD Chloe's second thought of where to go: Luka's. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 🤔 "This winner and loser thing doesn't exist!" Sad that Chloe thinks this way at all, who even taught her this? x.x Chat Noir: Did somebody start off on the wrong foot today? Marinette: I'm not finished! Chat Noir: Huh? LOL I laughed so hard at this moment. Did she forget who she is at the moment because even Chat's like what "I will always support you!" AWWWWWW what a good friend! And I think by helping Zoe become stronger, she'll in turn help Chloe be a better person too. But I'll talk about this again later. Poor Sabrina in this episode, my goodness. She works in a tiny closet and has to run along the limo. Chloe's seriously getting awful. Zoe's charm is the cutest one so far! So pretty. Ivan giving Zoe a hug was the cutest thing ever. Like, I don't ship them, but this shouldn't have anything to do with it. He and the rest of the kids care about her and respect her for being open and honest with her struggles, and want to be there for her. It's so wholesome. 😭 I find it interesting that even Audrey in this episode doesn't always know how to react to Chloe. xD But thank you Andre for caring enough about her to keep her in Paris and trying to keep some peace between the two. "For the first time in my life, I feel at home." 😭😭😭😭😭 Just imagine for a minute if Marinette didn't bother to help Zoe, believed how she acted at school rather than when she met her, and didn't tell the other kids about what was going on. Everything for her would be so drastically different. All because Marinette showed some kindness. Now onto Queen Banana. Well poor Marinette can't help but faceplant on the news. xD I can just tell what Alya leaned into say "You okay, girl?" and Marinette mumbling under the cape, "that's what the news is going to see of me, aren't they?" "Afraid so." "groan" Ah okay, Thomas was an alumni of the school. Cool. Poor Andre, he's just doing what Zoe suggested of him and not give up his dream of directing! I wonder if being around Luka and Juleka made Zoe want to put that pink streak in her hair. xD I want Luka and Zoe to be really good friends, that'd be so cool. Chloe being really awful some more. To everybody. I've noticed a pattern and I think I have her figured out pretty well. I'll be writing a in-depth post about her soon! She's making them change the entire movie just for her. xPP I said to my sister, "as soon as she leaves they should just film their original ideas." They do, thank goodness. xD I got so happy that we get an Adrienette scene in this ep! And then I saw he's locked in a cage, willingly, smiling at Marinette while the door shuts and I just burst out laughing. He's not even nervous he's locked in a cage, suspended in the air! Booooooy must like Marinette a lot! "Now let's take care of Adrien and get him out of that cage." OMG thank you, Marinette. While the image of him is comical, it's making me so uncomfortable that someone's up there like that and that someone also being terrified of being locked up in such a small space. Also, how long do you think Adrien would've stayed up there had Marinette not said something? Oh? What a change of pace, when Adrien goes to try to make things better for everyone, he screws it up pretty badly to be what really drives Chloe to get akumatized. She may have cooled off enough on her own as she tells Adrien "I'm fine." ...until he suggests apologizing to everyone. "You promised to stop being rude to everyone. And I told you that we couldn't be friends otherwise." OOF. Okay so her reaction to this really goes into the territory I want to talk about in my upcoming post about Chloe. "Banana BOOM BOOM!" lololol it sounds so funny in German dub xDD Marinette instantly pulling Zoe away from the attack x33 Ladybug's spin move with Chat Noir XD
it's like what's happening we're fighting an akuma not dancing This entire akuma feels like a Donkey Kong game and I love it. Those games are my childhood. Ooof Ladybug needs to be more careful with her Lucky Charms, they can sometimes be massive! Like that giant doughnut in Weredad. I seriously legit thought that the Gorilla was Gorilla, Adrien's bodyguard before the episode aired. XD The best heroes in this show tend to be the ones that have the most self-doubt, have you noticed? Ladybug, Carapace, and Vesperia all expressed serious doubt in themselves being a superhero, but when they suit up they're fierce! Like they were born to be a hero. Don't worry about Chat kissing Vesperia's hand. That's just the way he is, it's not in a flirting way. c: I remember when people freaked out about Rena Rouge and Chat Noir. It's the same as that, nothing more. "Or I'll turn her into baby mush!" LOL Chloe threatening to turn Ladybug into baby food hahaha that sounds so outrageous and weird that it's funny. And yet in this situation, would be actually possible so it's quite disturbing....hm. Dang, Hawk Moth trying to reakumatize her immediately. You go Zoe, speak up for yourself! And good on Andre for putting his foot down about Zoe too. "You may hate me, but I love you. And I'll always love you even if the whole world hates you." OKAY, THAT WAS REALLY BEAUTIFUL. Including the way she convinced Chloe to take the charm. Marinette's literally in hearing range of Adrien as she's talking to Tikki LOL she's like 5-6 feet away maybe? But that's okay, he probably would think nothing of it if he heard Marinette talking lol. I really like Zoe's character, I think she makes a wonderful addition to the show and that her character is extremely important. ;) Again I'll talk about it in my upcoming post! I've really noticed a lot of things when it comes to Chloe that I look forward to sharing my thoughts on sometime early this week. I really don't think things are as clear cut as a lot of people seem to think about her.

Hero Chat: Lila
This is just something for me to write out my thoughts on how to handle the Lila plot in the Hero Chat fic. And in general, but mostly this. Because I discussed using the ‘Lila has some kind of Magic’ plot for why everyone believes her.
I want to discuss both the ‘Magic’ plot and the ‘everyone kinda fucked up a little’ plot. Because both are things I want to talk out.
This isn’t necessarily salt, but it does involve Lila and the class believing her lies and a little of Adrien’s ‘don’t do anything’ plan. So you know.
Let’s start with the Magic plot.
I’m calling the Magic ‘Silver Tongue’, because of course. It was a kind of Magic created by someone who used the Fox Miraculous for selfish gain in the past. They used the Fox’s Illusions to trick their way into fame, money, and power.
Eventually, they created a more subtle version of the Magic. Illusion in just words. Silver Tongue is just words that are believed as much as the Fox’s Illusions. They are also just as real as the Fox’s Illusions, believable, but destroyed if you try to touch them.
What I mean is that as long as the Silver Tongue’s lie is not given proof that it’s a lie, they will believe it. But they won’t believe something they know is false. For example, Alya believes Lila when she says ‘oh, I’m bffs with Ladybug’. But if Lila said ‘I’m Rena Rouge’, Alya would be able to tell it’s a lie.
Which, yes, brings us to Lila. In an ironic twist, she was right about being descended from someone who used the Fox Miraculous, just not a Hero. She actually had no idea and was making it up but hey. Everyone gets lucky sometimes.
The thing that makes a Silver Tongue lose their power, is the realization that they’re lying. Once you know that their words are lies, you won’t be enchanted by further lies. This is why Marinette and Adrien aren’t effected by Lila.
Marinette knew Lila was lying due to her saying ‘I’m bffs with Ladybug’. She knows for a fact that it’s false. Between this and the fact that she knows other lies are false, such as Jagged Stone having a cat or Lila being traveling for months, she isn’t enchanted by Silver Tongue.
Adrien was suckered in at first. But Ladybug showing up and calling Lila out on her shit broke the spell. It would’ve been broken anyway if Lila kept talking about having the Fox Miraculous, as she would’ve made up stuff about it that Adrien would know is false. For example, he could ask her to transform and she’d make up a reason why that doesn’t fit with what he knows. And she’d say nothing about a Kwami. So he would’ve figured it out without Ladybug’s help.
However, while there is Magic making the class believe Lila’s stories, she doesn’t control their reactions to it. Sending Marinette to the back without asking, dismissing her as jealous, and ignoring how uncomfortable Adrien is around Lila? That’s all on them.
There is also nothing stopping them from doing their own investigation, other than the fact that they feel like they don’t need to because ‘Lila is obviously telling the truth’.
When the classmates realize they’d been tricked, they will still feel guilty and apologize, recognizing that they fucked up even if Magic was involved.
-
Now for the non-magical version!
There’s a lot of factors of why Lila’s lies work. Some of it is because she’s good at manipulating the situation, and making up other lies when she’s called out.
Next, there’s the fact that Lila knowing celebrities isn’t that far of a stretch given the classmates.
Chloé and Adrien are actually rich and famous, but are in this one random public school class.
Marinette has gotten the attention of several celebrities and big names in the fashion industry.
Rose knows Prince Ali. And while we don’t really know how often they talk, a lot of people assume they talk a lot.
Then there’s Kitty Section. The band has gotten a lot of attention in the short time they’ve been playing.
Alya runs the Ladyblog, Number 1 source of Ladybug news.
Not to mention the Heroes. Everyone knows about Chloé being Queen Bee. From Alya and Nino’s perspectives, there’s three heroes in class. Other classmates who have been Heroes think there’s themselves and Chloé, making two.
So yeah, Lila, daughter of someone from the Italian Embassy who travels a lot, says she knows some celebrities. That’s kinda believable when compared to the rest of the classmates’ fame.
But there’s also the fact that multiple people expect other people to fact check or say something. For example:
When Alya makes a post on the Ladyblog about Lila being ‘Ladybug’s bff’, Ladybug doesn’t challenge that. Ladybug knows about the Ladyblog and knows how to find Alya. From Alya’s perspective, if it wasn’t true, Ladybug herself would have said something.
Not to victim blame, but Marinette really should’ve done that. If only to keep Lila and her family from being targeted by Hawkmoth.
Rose talks to Prince Ali. She could’ve asked him about Lila. Everyone probably assumes she did. Since she didn’t call Lila out either, he probably told her she’s on the up and up.
I do headcanon that Rose mentioned Lila to Prince Ali, but she didn’t do major digging. It was probably like: Rose: “Hey! I made a new friend! Lila Rossi!”, Ali: “I’m glad you’re making new friends! Would you like to hear about this cool thing that happened earlier?”. It’s the kind of situation where she didn’t ask directly, and since Ali didn’t go ‘who?’, she assumed that it was fine.
Lila’s ‘disabilities’.
From the Class’s perspective, it’s not on them to ask for documentation. It’s on the staff. If the staff members believe Lila has tinnitus and whatever else, then they have the documentation necessary to confirm it.
As for the staff believing it, that’s probably Lila forging doctor’s notes and hijacking her mom’s email. Or giving a fake email on the paperwork.
Lila being out of Paris for months
Like the disabilities, the class doesn’t need to confirm it as the school staff have done that. After all, Lila couldn’t just be skipping class for several months without consequences! The school would’ve contacted her mother, and her mother would’ve done something about it!
Obviously Lila also used the email thing from the disabilities section to fake an email from her mom saying ‘we’ve been traveling lately. Can you email Lila any classwork she needs?’.
As for her mom, we know she’s lying to her about the whole Akuma situation. Saying the school is closed because of all that fuckery.
So yeah, between decent lies, people assuming things are cool because they’re naive kids who like to see the best in people, and a few screwups, it’s easy to believe Lila’s claims.
And once she has a hold on the class, getting them to believe her, she can turn things around on those who try to call her out. Marinette tries to say something? Lila pulls out the ‘I’m being so nice! Why do you hate me!’. And since, from the class’s perspective, there’s no reason for Marinette to be mean other than jealousy over Adrien, they assume that’s the problem.
If Adrien had spoken up, Lila would’ve found a way to turn it around. Maybe she spins it as ‘Marinette’s obviously been telling you horrible things about me!’ or ‘Now he’s making stuff up to protect Marinette!’ . It depends on how dedicated she is to thinking she can win Adrien over.
So yeah it’s not that they’re entirely falling for a bunch of lies without proof. There’s enough plausible to Lila’s lies that they don’t feel the need to search further. Of course if they looked into it they’d find the truth, but for now they’re sitting back.
And of course when they do realize what happened, they apologize to Marinette and Adrien.
-
Side note: Adrien’s view of ‘why does it matter, she’s not hurting anyone?’.
First of all, Adrien wasn’t there for all of Lila’s bullshit. He does know she was lying to impress him and the classmates. He might be skeptical about the tinnitus claim, but can’t really prove that she doesn’t have tinnitus(obviously he knows the ‘how’ is fake, but she could hypothetically have it from something else). And it wasn’t Lila who made Marinette sit in the back, just the classmates assuming she’d be chill.
Adrien didn’t see the scene in the cafeteria where Marinette tried to call Lila out and everyone turned against her. He didn’t see the bathroom scene of Lila threatening her. And no one told him about it.
So, again, from Adrien’s perspective, Lila is just telling grand stories to try and impress everyone. Which doesn’t really hurt anyone. Maybe it will in the long run, if people keep believing her and base all their decisions on what she says instead of thinking for themselves. But that’s a bit unlikely. Also he’s still a teenager and they’re not the best at thinking long-term.
Adrien’s experience with liars is also more limited. He would mostly deal with paparazzi and tabloid reporters that make up gossip for clickbait views. People who saw him hanging with Marinette in ‘Gorizilla’ and tweeted out that she was his secret girlfriend. There’s a line I keep wanting to put into a fic somewhere of Adrien saying ‘If my father stopped what he was doing to disprove every rumor about him having an affair with a model or intern half his age, he wouldn’t be able to get any work done at all.’.
From Adrien’s perspective, it’s not worth it to call Lila out like Marinette was doing. All it’ll do is enrage the class and push them further into Lila’s side. They would be alone. They’d have each other, but no one else.
As shown in later episodes, like ‘Oni-Chan’ and especially ‘Ladybug’, Adrien does come to realize Lila is less of a ‘hey pay attention to me’ liar and more of a ‘I’ll manipulate the fuck out of everyone and destroy anyone who tries to stop me’ liar. And he decides to do something about it. Even if he can’t prove Lila lied, he can ‘make a deal with the devil’ and get her to fix things.
Okay, that’s it now. Goodnight everybody.

Jerk in Sheep’s Clothing Chapter 1
Marinette's feet felt as heavy as stone as she trudged up the sidewalk towards the school. A month ago, her feet felt light and airy whenever she started walking to her first class. She used to look forward to girl talk with Alya and the others, mooning over Adrien, and what other wonderful surprises the day had in store for her. But ever since Lila had returned to school and gotten the class under her spell, Marinette never knew whether she would spin another tale and make everyone mad at Mari.
It was taking all of Marinette's strength to keep things as calm and neutral between her and her friends as possible. She had been trying desperately to relieve some of the tension with only some success. But no matter how tense things were between them, they were still her friends.
Besides, Marinette could not blame them entirely for believing Lila's wild tales. As much as she hated to admit it, the Rossi girl had had a valid point—people believe what they wanted to believe. After all, Marinette had only seen through her lies because of her most infamous fibs of being besties with Ladybug—who was secretly Marinette. If Lila had not unknowingly lied about Mari, would the pigtailed girl have been onto her in the first place?
At first, she had been upset at Adrien for not helping her expose Lila. But soon, she remembered Gabriel, and how he had raised his son to obey without protest, to always been seen and not heard. Marinette could not blame Adrien for following his upbringing, no matter how abusive it was. Victims of those things applied that knowledge to everyone they came in contact with.
As such, Marinette knew that all she could do was hold on and hope, hope, hope with all her heart that sooner or later, the class would see through Lila's ridiculous stories. Because that's what friends did, even if things had been rather one-sided lately. She believed in them. Amd nothing could deter her from that belief.
In her deep trance of thoughts and fears of what drama the day might bring, Marinette did not notice a rock in her path, not until it was too late. The next thing she knew, she was jerked from her train of thought and went stumbling forward. She shut her eyes tight, preparing to feel the hard slap of concrete against her face. But it never came.
It was only moments later that she felt two strong hands on her arms, holding her up. Slowly, she opened her eyes to see a handsome face. The features were chiseled, coated in smooth, tan skin. The eyes were a rich cocoa brown, matching the color of his smooth, shiny hair, slicked back into a feathered style. The half-smile he wore on his face, showing his pearly white teeth, would make any girl swoon.
After a moment, he spoke, his voice deep and charming. "I know we just just met, but no need to fall for me."
Marinette laughed, half at the joke and half at their awkward meeting, as she pulled herself to an upright standing position. "Sorry about that.", she said, tucking some stray hairs behind her ear nervously.
The boy waved it off. "No problem. I'm flattered. Its not everyday that I literally bump into a pretty girl."
That made Marinette's face turn red as her Ladybug costume. They had only just met less than a minute ago, and he had already made a pass at her, and called her pretty. And she thought Chat Noir was forward.
The boy thrust his hand out towards her. "Henri LeRoi."
She smiled and shook his hand. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
His brown eyes grew wide.  "Marinette...lovely name.  Just rolls off the tongue."
He said it again, slower and softer this time.  "Marinette...its beautiful.  But hey...I can't expect less from a beautiful girl."
Now her awkwardness factor had been pumped up to eleven. She looked away, fiddling with her pigtails. She had just been promoted from pretty to beautiful in a matter of seconds. This boy definitely knew how to make a girl blush, as proven by the dark crimson color the skin on her face had taken on.
"So...I better get to Francois Dupont..."
Henri smile brightened. "What a coincidence! I'm starting there today!"
She looked back, matching his grin. "Really? That's great! That means we'll be seeing more of each other!"
"Might I be so bold as to escort you onto the premises?", he asked, in a teasing tone.
Marinette giggled at his hoity play accent and replied, "T'would be my honor, Mousier LeRoi."
And with that, they linked arms and went marching into the school. Marinette's heart suddenly felt much lighter than it had in weeks. --------------- Lila Rossi finished gathering her things from her locker when she noticed Marinette enter the room. Lila always had a sixth sense for when her foe walked in. But the thing that really caught her attention was that the rival was on the arm of a really good-looking dude. He was tall and muscular and dressed fashionably, and he and Marinette were laughing, like they had known each other forever.
"Seriously? You're in Madame Bustier's class, too?"
"It'll be so great to have you there! I'll save you a seat, kay?"
The new boy smiled at her charmingly. "Kay. See ya in class, cutie."
And he winked and shot her finger guns. Imagine Lila's surprise when Marinette giggled as she skipped off to class. Oh, no. She wasn't going to let Marinette have that boy as a friend or anything else. She didn't get that. Time for another play of the victim card.
Once she was certain Marinette was gone, she snuck up next to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around, and Lila put on her best pitiful face.
"Hey...I saw you talking to Marinette. I know she might seem nice, but there's something you should know about her..."
To her surprise, Henri didn't let her get another word in. "Save it. I know about you, Lila. Marinette told me all about you. How you're lying to everyone, trying to turn them all against her."
Lila fumed. The class had listened to her stories. Why wasn't this boy?
"Whatever she's said about me, its not true! She's the one bullying me! She hates me for no good reason! She's just jealous that I've done all these awesome things, meeting princes and rockstars and seeing the world for the past year, and she's just a dumb baker girl!"
Henri raised his eyebrows. "Really? You traveled the world? Because last I checked, your mom hasn’t left Paris in a year."
Lila's face paled. How had he known that? "How...How did you..."
"I looked you up on social media when Marinette mentioned you.", he said, stroking his chiseled chin with a devious smirk. "Didn't find any profiles matching you, but I did find your mom’s official webpage on the site for the embassy she works at. I know its her because she mentioned you were her daughter and posted the occasional childhood photograph of you on the family tab. But the embassy rules on the website clearly state that the members aren’t allowed to take their kids with them on foreign missions. I wonder...if she didn’t take you, where have you really been all that time? Maybe I should go to the address on her profile and ask her. Tell to check in with the school, just to be safe..."
Never, in all her weeks of careful planning and manipulations, had Lila been so terrified. This new boy saw through her ruse. What's more, he held the keys to her demise. This was something that she had been dreading since she returned to school, yet had hoped and prayed would never happen. Her whole world was threatening to crumble right before her very eyes.
But before she lie her way out of her situation, or at the very least, get on her knees and beg him not to follow through on his threats, promising him anything under the sun if he only kept her secrets, the new boy surprised her by simply saying, "But instead, I'll make you a little bargain."
Lila blinked twice, confused with this sudden and unexpected turn of events. "Pardon?"
The new guy folded his arms over his chest, leaning in towards her, speaking softly so their conversation would not be overheard by unwelcome. "Here's the deal...you keep playing that little game of yours, and I'll keep my mouth shut. What's more, I'll steer her clear of her friends...especially that Adrien guy."
Lila blinked again. A minute ago, this guy had been threatening to expose her to the world. Now, not only was he promising to keep silent for her, he was offering to keep Marinette away from her friends, leaving them all to herself. Lila's one eyebrow and suspicions rose. "What's the catch?"
”No catch.", he said. "Just keep doing what you're doing. This way, you can have your crowd of admirers without any interference...and I get Marinette all to myself. Everybody wins."
It all clicked in Lila's mind. So that was his angle. He figured that if all of Marinette's friends were against her, he would have no problems keeping her all to himself, like a dragon hoarding treasure. Of course, when someone offers to not only keep your darkest secrets, but also help you carry on your charade of being special, you don't pass it up. A part of Lila was disappointed that she had failed to turn the boy against Marinette, but she figured it was a worthy sacrifice if it meant no more pigtail girl trying to expose her.
So, she smiled wickedly and said, "Deal." And they shook on it before parting ways. ---------------- Adrien walked into the classroom, double-checking that all of his school supplies were in order, when he looked up and saw Lila sitting in Nino's seat. Nino and Alya followed in after, seeing what their friend saw.
"Oh, is your tinnitus acting up again?", asked Alya.
Lila nodded. "Sadly, yes. But don't worry about Marinette. She'll be just fine." She jerked her thumb behind her, and all three looked towards the back row.
There was Marinette, sitting there, only she did not see any of them. She was too engrossed in a conversation with a boy that they did not recognize, with dark hair and dark eyes and a smile on his face.
"His name's Henri. He just transferred here.", explained Lila. She eyed Adrien with a mean smile. "They look pretty cozy, don't they?"
Nino shrugged. "Well, long as she's got company, I guess it'd be okay for me to sit in her seat."
He and Alya went to sit in the second row without any protest, but Adrien stayed behind, staring at the sight before him. He wasn't sure why, but his inner alarm bells were ringing when he looked at the new guy. There was something about him that sent his Chat Noir super senses tingling.
Marinette looked into her backpack for something, and that's when Henri noticed Adrien's stare on them. Their eyes met across the room, and that's when it happened. Henri's brown eyes narrowed, and he sent a nasty smirk Adrien's way, one that made the model boy's blood turn to ice in his veins. Then, the moment right before Marinette turned back, Henri was back to his former, cheerful, non-threatening self, chatting happily with her.
All of the sudden, Adrien felt sick, his head spinning, his stomach churning, his heartbeat ceasing fir a few seconds before it started beating a hundred times a minute. He didn't know what had just happened or why, but he had an awful feelings that things would never be the same again.

Learning Lesson - ML One-Shot
“Okay, students, line the heck up,” Kara Lahiffe, daughter of Alya and Nino ordered. “You’ve all got a lot of learning to do. Also, raise hands if you have any questions, please!”
Chloe raised her hand in the air, getting a small nod from Kara as approval. “Why are you teaching us about this?”
“Because,” Kara began to explain. “If none of you got the online definition, you should get the explanation on what shipping is from a person who ships people in real life!” she exclaimed, wearing her own Uncle Adrien’s shit-eating grin.
“I have a feeling something’ll go horribly wrong,” Kagami whispered in Rose’s ear. “This is Kara, after all.” that was indeed true, as her scenario with telling some rather insulting humor about everybody the night before the talent show that resulted in her being kicked out of the Agreste, Couffaine and Couffaine-Lavillant, and Kim houses. It was safe to say that with her history in giving everyone’s parents her ‘learning lessons’ and telling jokes, Kara wasn’t the most trustworthy person in either field.
“So, shipping has two definitions,” Kara started, stating the obvious. “The first is the acts or the businesses of a person and/or thing that ships. The second one, however, is a modern slang of the word ‘relationships’ and is used if you think two people would make a good couple.” she explained. “Anyone else get it?”
Luka and Juleka were next to raise their hands, but before Kara could give them her approval, Juleka already began speaking. “So, shipping is basically what Luka and Kagami did with me and Rose?” she asked.
“From what Lilli and Viveka have told me, 100%,” Kara nodded. “Nice job, Uncle Luka and Auntie Kagami. You really know both your facts and your ships!”
And with her very words, both Juleka and Rose’s faces burned bright red at the somewhat-compliment-and-roast she’d made towards them. “She’s evil,” Juleka hoarsely whisper-coughed into her wife’s ear.
“Now, there’s also a song example of shipping, titled the ‘I Ship It’ song -” Kara said again, getting cut off by a chorus of people screaming ‘No!’
“No!” Alya, Marinette, Adrien, Nino, Alix, Max, Chloe, Kim, Kagami and Luka all screamed, getting up and putting their arm out in hopes of stopping her.
“That song is horrible!” Alix cringed. “My niece plays it for me. Thankfully, she’s too innocent to understand most of it.”
“You think that’s bad?” Kagami challenged. “When nobody else in the house will get up, Jade blares that and forces us up.”
“Students, like Teacher Kara said, no talking during class!” the fifteen-year-old scolded. “Speaking of which, is beginning up again... now!”
“I ship people both in my real life, and in my books, TV shows, movies, and most of all, my magical girl anime!” Kara smiled, “Speaking of which, there’s another subject we’ll go to for a minute before moving back to this one.”
Her mother was next to raise her hand, Kara shooting her a thumbs-up so she could ask. “What subject?” Alya asked.
“OTPs!” Kara answered.
“Oh, no,” Chloe began to whisper to Sabrina. “Shit’s gonna go wrong starting just about... now.”
“This phrase is an abbreviation for One True Pairing, which is one ship above all of the others for a single person.” Kara explained. “Like how Mom’s OTP was Adrienette, I have mine too!”
And now, it was Adrien and Marinette’s turn to be embarrassed, as they face-palmed themselves violently and blushed a million shades of red. “When did she start doing this, and what made her this way?” Marinette asked her husband.
“Two words: Middle school,” Adrien responded. “It turned her from a friendly joker into a quirky, overbearingly irritating comedienne.”
“You’ll survive, Sunshine,” Juleka assured Adrien as she rubbed the back of his shoulders comfortingly. Both him and Marinette gave her a weird look in reference to his nickname, so she thought it’d be best to explain. “Got it from Alya.”
“Damn you, Alya and Kara,” Marinette muttered under her breath, looking over to her longtime best friend and giving her the ‘I’m watching you’ signal along with a threatening death glare. “Matchmaking, insult humor, and weird nicknames galore.”
“Question of the day, students; what’s your all-time OTP?” Kara asked. “Let’s start with.... Chloe!” Kara spun around, arm out as she pointed to her arch-rival’s mother.
“I have a good one,” Chloe smirked. “Lila’s face x a rolling pin.”
The other parents began to mutter to one another, all nodding about Chloe’s answer/choice.
“Great choice, Chlo,” Kagami whispered in her ear. “I have a different one in mind, but that one is a solid ship.”
“Next student is... Mister Luka Couffaine, father of my shortshit BFF Jade who is a genius cinnamon roll but still could kill me if she tried, as well the one who made us all go as the Sailor Guardians for Halloween!”
Jade was hiding in the hallway with the others, so she’d overheard it and defended herself. “I am not short!” she pouted.
“You’re only 5′0″,” Maddie, Adrien and Marinette’s fifteen-year-old commented. “Not to mention your cousin Viveka makes jokes about whenever you say you look up to her all the time. You’re short as hell.”
“Now that that’s over,” Kara said loudly as Jade and Maddie quit their arguing. “Luka, who exactly is your OTP?” she asked.
Wearing the world’s biggest shit-eating grin on his face, Luka glanced over to where Juleka and Rose were sitting, giving his sister and sister-in-law a smug smirk. “JuleRose.”
Marinette and Alya burst out laughing at his answer, while Adrien and Nino tried to hide their snickering but failed. Chloe, Sabrina, and Kim shook their heads and blinked, Alix and Max looked at each other in shock, and Mylene and Ivan face-palmed themselves while muttering things under their breath that nobody else could quite make out.
Which left Juleka and Rose to blush with embarrassment yet again, struggling to make eye contact with one another and Luka.
Kara smiled and spoke again, dragging on the question even farther. “Nice choice,” she whispered in Luka’s ear, shaking hands with him. “Also, Juleka and Rose, we all know you two shipped yourselves with one another when you were teenagers. Just admit it.”
“It has been confirmed,” Mylene whispered to Alix. “Alya and middle school have officially corrupted Kara.”
“100% probability rate,” Max confirmed, Alix gently elbowing her husband in the chest. “She’s long gone now.”
“Now, let’s all say our OTPs on the count of three, and stand up,” Kara ordered, all of the adults standing up onto their feet to answer. “One... two... three and go!”
“Maddie and Hugo!” Marinette answered, 100% confident in the statement she’d made clarifying that she proudly shipped her fifteen-year-old daughter with her crush. And so did everyone else, even Tom and Sabine.
“Dammit,” Maddie muttered from the hallway, Jade rubbing her back gently.
“I ship Emma and Rebecca together!” Adrien admitted. Ever since they’d teamed up together during the time that Marinette was villainized into Fashionista and taken her down, he’d admittedly shipped his thirteen-year-old daughter with Chloe and Kim’s fifteen-year-old.
And as for what he thought about their ages? Screw their age difference.
“I ship Maddie and Hugo too!” Rose exclaimed, leaning over to give Marinette a high-five.
“Same,” Juleka nodded.
“I used to ship Max and Alix together,” Mylene admitted. “I’m still proud all these years later that Marc and Nathaniel set them up.”
“I ship Nathaniel and Marc with each other,” Ivan said. “It’s great that they’re finally together.”
“Me too,” Sabrina nodded. Even though she was quite depressed when she and Nathaniel had divorced five whole years ago, she hoped that one day, he’d move on and get with Marc.
It was safe to say that Sabrina approved of NathMarc becoming canon.
“I shipped Chloe and Kim together,” Max answered. “I was thrilled 100% when they began dating.”
“I ship Rebecca and Emma too,” Chloe interrupted, trying to take the focus away from what Max had just said. “Adrien is correct, they are my new OTP. LilaRollingPin who?” she nervously laughed, giving a Marinette-style grin that showed all of her teeth.
“So do I,” Kim agreed.
“Ready for who I ship?” Alix said in a sarcastic voice, everyone else nodding and speaking that they agreed. “I ship... Lila x a boxing glove with a spring in it!” she exclaimed.
“That’s a solid ship,” Kagami nodded. “Well done, Alix.”
“I ship me and my pillow,” Kagami answered. “I’m tired from all of Jade’s waking us up with her I Ship It song and the 2:00 AM study sessions.”
And then, there were two left to answer: Alya and Nino. Kara trusted her parents more than anyone and was confident they’d have great answers, but little did she know it would humiliate her to the extreme.
“Well, what about you guys, Mom and Dad?” Kara glanced to where Alya and Nino sat, Nino on a floor pillow with Alya sunk back in the bean bag.
“Well...” Nino smirked.
“We actually used to ship you with your boyfriend before you two were even dating right now,” Alya blurted out. “Whenever you two would do school projects together, one could see that you two were crushing hard on the other.”
And on that day, Kara Christine Lahiffe lost her shit and become incredibly embarrassed, all because of her trick backfiring on her.
“Yep,” Nino nodded, high-fiving his wife. “In fact, when he came over to our house the day after your show premiered, I spoke with him in the car about how I shipped you two together.”
Upon hearing that, Kara ran away quickly from her house’s living room, into the hallway where Jade and Maddie where, zooming past them and heading into her room to die of embarrassment, all curled up in a ball.
“Called it.” Jade smirked.
“Me too,” Maddie seconded. “Karma’s a real pain, ain’t it?”
“To be fair, my OTP is Kara x Karma,” Jade admitted, joking to Maddie, who snickered. “Aren’t they just the most perfect match you’ve ever seen?”
“Indeed, Jade,” Maddie slowly nodded. “Karma is truly a beautiful thing.”
A/N: So... this was really funny to write XD. Ladrien June 23: The Press
This prompt fill for @ladrienjune is nearly twice as long as what I want to aim for on average for these prompts. It's a bit of a doozy, but I loved it. Warning for blood and dismemberment.
"Don't be bemused, it's just the news," Nadja's voice woke Adrien at seven in the morning. When had he fallen asleep? His eyes opened slowly, spotting the news program. He was on his couch? "This morning's top story; the battle between the Heroes of Paris and Hawkmoth, captured on video." Oh no. Adrien sat up. It hadn't been a nightmare had it? "That's right citizens of Paris, the nightmare is finally over. This video, filmed by Ladybug herself, reveals the battle that ended Hawkmoth's reign of terror." Ladybug had been filming? When had she.. Her Lucky Charm! She must have posted the video online or something.
Adrien got up and searched for his phone as the news report continued, showing the video of the battle. He was glad to have his back turned to the TV; he could hear how violently he and… Hawkmoth had fought, he didn't want to see. Guilt gnawed away inside Adrien's gut. Had he actually Cataclysmed his father's arm? Adrien managed to find his phone, unlocking it and… wow, that's a lot of notifications. His official social media accounts were probably swarming with people saying all kinds of things. He knew better than to check. He switched notifications off; he'd have Nathalie help him make a statement letter.
Wait, could he even do that? His father was… probably under arrest… or worse, if the Cataclysm had spread. Adrien didn't remember much after the battle, only seeing the agony on his father's face after he had turned his arm to ash. He could remember the trickle of blood from where his arm would have met his shoulder, which had seemed… underwhelming at the time. He'd left the battle then, before Ladybug even used her Miracle Cure. It was over, and he didn't have it in him to confront his father.
Or Ladybug… oh god what did Ladybug think of him now? Knowing that he had been lying to her all this time? She probably hated him, and it certainly didn't help Hawkmoth was his father. Adrien opened his text messages. There were several from Nino, which Adrien knew was going to be his friend cheering him up, and nearly as many from Kagami, which he found curious. Then quite a few from Alya, he wondered if he would have to give an interview… There were also some from Marinette, which he was glad for. Marinette always knew how to make anyone feel better. Everybody else in class had sent him some kind of message, and even Luka had sent him something. He started looking through them
Nino: Dude.
Alya just got a video from Ladybug.
You ok?
Seriously dude, it's not late enough for you to be asleep.
Dude.
You're scaring me man.
You're not hurt are you?
God I can't imagine what this is like for you.
I'm here for you man.
I'll be here to talk if you want to bro.
Let me know when you get this.
He sent Nino a message, 'Hey, it was… kind of rough. I've been a bit dazed. I'll let you know when I want to talk about it. Your concern means a lot," and opened Kagami's message. That was a wall of words. Adrien skimmed through. Kagami's mom wanted her to cut ties with Adrien as amicably as possible. Naturally, Kagami was going to continue her friendship with him because one's parents do not decide a person's fate. She'd be free to speak when he was. "Thanks Kagami. I'll let you know when I want to spar."
Suddenly there was a knock on his door, and Adrien went to open it. The Gorilla stood there for a moment, before leaning down and giving Adrien a gentle hug. "Do you want to go to school or somewhere else?" He signed to Adrien, "Either way, I think it's best we get out of the house."
"I'd like to go to school," Adrien answered. He didn't feel like hiding away, and he wanted to see his friends. He could count on Nino and Kagami, and most of his class. He was kind of worried about Chloe… and Lila. But he could handle it.
The Gorilla walked Adrien to the car, shielding the boy from the cameras flashing beyond the gate. They drove, and Adrien was almost intimidated by the paparazzi as they drove past. He had dealt with the like before, but that was as a celebrity. It was different now. Almost like he was a pariah. Adrien was glad for the tinted windows as he continued to check his messages.
Alya: Hey, I just got a video from Ladybug. About Hawkmoth.
That sucks. I'm so sorry Adrien.
I want to punch his stupid teeth in. I knew your dad was an asshole but damn.
I hope you're ok. Talk to you tomorrow?
He was glad she was… supportive. And she wasn't asking for an interview (though that's probably how he should make his statement, when it comes time for it. Alya's a friend, so she's the best option). He opened Marinette's message.
Marinette: Hey Adrien. Alya told me.
I want you to know I think you're an amazing, good person. You're very brave.
I can bring you some croissants, if you want?
Adrien could feel tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. Marinette always knew what to say. He sent a quick "Please," in response to croissants, and then checked his other messages. Notably, Alix had sent him a few supportive memes, Luka had sent him an audio file of an original melody intended to help him, and.. Chloe had sent a message saying she was sorry she hasn't been able to help. Which made him hopeful she wouldn't show more of her true colors against him.
They arrived at the school, and Adrien felt fear grip him as he spotted the paparazzi around the school as well. Thankfully, the Gorilla was able to escort him in and keep him mostly out of sight. Now he just had the day in front of him.

Bewitched Part 3
Ao3
@lenoreofraven
Today’s numbers: Ugly Heart by GRL
“And I wonder does it blow your mind, that I'm leaving you far behind? I wonder does it stop your heart to know you're not my sunshine anymore?” - Ugly Heart, G.R.L
The bee signal is already glowing up in the sky, and Chloe, oh so patiently, keeps an eye out for her heroine in the sky. Ever since Heroes’ Day, Chloe has longed to take up the mantle of Queen Bee yet again, and has had to make do with “heroics IRL”. Mostly, she tried to just stay out of everyone else’s way, even that lame old Lila, who bragged endlessly about her oh so wonderful life but also complained about having every other injury on the planet.
But the moment she saw Dupain-Cheng flock down onto the school below as the latest akuma, she very discreetly made her way out of the school and back to the hotel roof. Granted, she had to use ugh public transportation, but thankfully, she made it safe and sound.
During that time, she kept her eyes on the news regarding the akuma. Apparently, Dupain-Cheng was going by the name Bewitched, was either cursing or brainwashing people into being her friends, and particularly had it out for Lila, Alya… and Adrien.
She tried to pay no attention to the drama that was unfolding around her at school, but of course, that busybody Cesaire wouldn’t stop gossiping about it. And oh, how Chloe couldn’t resist gossip. So she knew pretty much inside and out the… complicated status between Adrien and Dupain-Cheng concerning their “relationship” or lack thereof.
Now, she was well aware of her past with Dupain-Cheng. Chloe bullied her for years, and the two pretty much never saw eye to eye on most things. This past year in particular, the baker’s daughter had been pushing back against her real hard, forcing Chloe to either back down, or try to up her game and fail. There were also times when she actually went out of her way to help Chloe, much to her confusion. So at this point, Chloe decided that it just wasn’t worth antagonizing the girl anymore. She would simply stay out of her business and focus on being a better Queen Bee for Ladybug and Paris.
There was also her own complicated friendship with Adrien. Ever since he started attending the school, he hadn’t been nearly as tolerating of her like when they were kids. He even threatened to break off their friendship after pulling off a prank on Dupain-Cheng. She didn’t want to admit it, but she knew she had that coming. But she also knew that if she didn’t go out of her way to start trouble, he’d recognize her as a better person and want to be friends again. And she couldn’t afford to lose any more people in her life, not like how she nearly lost her mom.
The drama still bothered her, of course, but only because the solution was simple - Adrien needed to stop being a dolt and leave her alone. Find someone else.
She scowls at the thought. Of course, he already tried that, and he tried it with Lila of all people. Ugh, recalling Lila’s nasally, love-dovey voice as she spoke of her new amore, it made Chloe want to pour bleach in her ears.
Thankfully, that didn’t last long, but the soap opera of a non-relationship continued. But still, Chloe chose not to intervene. It wasn’t her business, and she’d only make it worse. And so, she stuck to doing little things with Sabrina and left it at that.
Seeing Bewitched descend on school property for the first time, she started to think that maybe that was a bad idea.
The sound of footsteps landing behind her gets her heart racing, and a smile widens across her face, temporarily erasing her fears.
“Ladybug! You’re finally-”
Her smile immediately fades when she sees the two figures, and none of them are Ladybug. Chat Noir stands, looking annoyed at having to be there with them. Ugh, the nerve! I’ll show that overgrown furball!
The girl isn’t Ladybug, but she clearly has the ladybug miraculous, merged with the dragon. But she isn’t Dragonbug either - her hair is too short, her eyes are a different color, and she doesn’t regard Chloe, her Queen Bee, with quite the same warmth that’s traditional of her hero.
Chloe knew of the rumors that Cesaire had  been posting on her little blog, that Chat Noir had desperately been pining for Ladybug for so long, but she insisted that their relationship needed to stay professional. Someday, it said, they would be official.
Not that she believed they were true, but she can’t help but be suspicious that it had something to do with her not being here right now.
Or it’s nothing. Chloe just wants to know where her hero was.
“You’re not Ladybug! Where is she?
“There’s been a complication,” the new Dragonbug states, “I’m standing in for her now.”
“Well that’s just great,” she retorts, “Dupain-Cheng gets akumatized into one of the most powerful villains we’ve come to face, and Ladybug isn’t here!”
“You can blame this one for that,” new Dragonbug sighs, pointing to Chat Noir. He doesn’t even bother acknowledging Chloe with a glance, tapping his foot on the ground, and looking at his wrist as if he had a watch. To be fair, she isn’t the only one unimpressed; the new Dragonbug looks ready to clock him as well. “If he hadn’t decided his feelings were more important than respecting his partner and doing his job-”
“Marinette and I were in love,” he argues, “If it weren’t for everyone else-”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Chloe interrupts, “Blame Chat Noir for what? Getting Dupain-Cheng akumatized? Or Ladybug leaving? Or… You and Dupain-Cheng in love? What about Ladybug? What about that video on the Ladyblog?”
Something doesn’t quite add up here. About a day or two ago, the Ladyblog thought it’d be terrific news to share a video of a fan secretly recording Chat Noir profess his love to Ladybug. Chloe had no idea what that had to do with fighting Hawkmoth or anything important, actually, but the reactions were intense. Everyone at school the next day was passionately discussing how they wanted Ladybug and Chat Noir to just get together already. Apparently, “LadyNoir” was the number one ship in the class just after “Adrinette”
Ugh, she wrinkles her nose, who came up with these lame nicknames?
She wanted to comment that posting such a silly story in what was supposed to be a well-respected news source was downright dangerous, but she knew she looked like a hypocrite.
And so she stayed quiet about that too.
Maybe, for once in her life, opening her big mouth might have actually proven useful.
“There’s no way that this is just a coincidence,” Chloe points out, “Ladybug isn’t here when Dupain-Cheng is akumatized. Both of them were dealing with stubborn suitors that couldn’t take a hint… unless…” She shakes her head at the possibility, but voices it anyway, “There’s either some sort of conspiracy going on around here, or those two are exactly the same. Which means that Chat Noir is...”
She locks eyes with Chat Noir, and regrets it the moment that she does. Without the cat ears, the glowing green eyes, he has to be-
“Yes, it’s me,” he sighs, “Marinette is Ladybug and I’m Adrien.”
“I suppose we’re just telling everybody now,” the Dragonbug groans, “All that’s left is telling Rena Rouge and Carapace, if they haven’t been caught by now.”
There’s not enough time to sit and process everything, so Chloe decides she will deal with Dupain-Cheng being Ladybug later. That’s not what bothers her.
“You hurt her,” Chloe says, still holding Chat’s gaze.
“You hurt her,” he argues, “All I’ve ever wanted to do was defend her.”
“Well, you sure did a shitty job of doing it, Adrik- Adrien,” she scoffs, “Yeah, I hurt Dupain-Cheng a lot over the years. Gave her hell for the hell of it. And I always thought I’d be the one that end up getting her akumatized. But you…” she bites her lip, looking away. Ugh, she doesn’t want tears. It’s going to mess up her mascara, and that’s not a good look for Queen Bee. “You were supposed to be the better one of us two.”
“There is no us. I only love Marinette, Chloe.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about, and you damn well know that!” Chloe retorts, “You know what? Maybe I don’t know how to be a good friend. And I thought being a better person meant keeping myself out of other people’s business. What the hell did I know?”
The tears that threaten to spill are hotter now, and she has to look away to rub them away. Dragonbug’s sympathetic glance burns at the back of her head, and Chloe can’t help, for once, feeling sorry for her. This is supposed to be a simple retrieval mission, and by this point, Chloe should have already transformed.
“There’s two things that I know,” she finally says, making her voice even. No one is ever going to hear her crack. “One, is that while you’re a gorgeous, pretty boy, your insides are rotten to the core, just like me. Takes one to know one, I suppose. But two, Adrien, darling,” she looks back over her shoulder to stare at him, “Is that I’m going to be the hero Ladybug… no, Dupain-Cheng chose to trust. The one that you’ll never get to be again.”
He has the audacity to scoff yet again. “You’ll never-”
“Shut up,” the Dragonbug yells, tossing the comb to Chloe, “We have work to do. If you’re going to prove yourself to your hero, Chloe Bourgeois, you better get going.”
Pollen’s sweet greeting is the only thing that manages to ease her heart for a moment. Following her transformation, she follows the other two heroes off the roof and down into the city.
Hang on, Ladybug.
--
He’s not the sort to mind silence. Luka finds silence to be beautiful, just as any note he strums on the guitar, or the river of the Seine running below the houseboat, or the song of someone’s soul being happy and airy.
And while Felix is the stony, stoic type, he’s never minded passing silence with him. There’s an understanding between the two of them that allows for quiet to be comfortable, rather than awkward.
This is the first time Luka has ever dreaded the silence.
He’s only glad that Felix is here with him, because he isn’t sure he could bear it otherwise.
Well, Sass, the snake kwami is also there with him, hiding in his pocket. Every now and then, as he’s running, he can’t help but study the bangle that sits on his wrist, and hope that it’s going to be enough to help calm Marinette down. He doesn’t want to fight her, but according to what Sass told him, the power he grants won’t physically harm anyone.
They resurface onto the streets of Paris, with almost no one out and about. He takes a quick scan to make sure that they’re safe to move about. Marinette is almost certain to be heading to Le Grand Paris in pursuit of Chat Noir and Queen Bee, but from what Felix told him about her powers-
“Where could she be?” Felix muses, interrupting his trail of thought. “Kagami would have told us if she was already at the hotel. And Adrien is the only other person she’d be going after to curse…”
“What if she’s looking for more allies?” Luka points out, “What if she’s looking for-”
An approaching shadow from behind him makes him jump and turn around.
“Us.”
In most of the media coverage he saw of Marinette, she was either smirking or condemning the object of her rage with a single glare. The sound in her heart was pretty similar to when they first met, and the time he cheered her up before going on their ice skating date. But it’s far angrier. He hears more shredding guitar and heavy pounding of drums.
That sound instantly vanishes as she regards both of the boys. It’s replaced with the light strumming of a harp and a warm glow lights up her eyes.
“I found you.”
It pains him to hear such a gentle song in a soundtrack of a tragedy. Well, maybe that’s a bit extreme.
One glance at Felix confirms he feels the same way too.
“Marinette-”
“It’s Bewitched,” she corrects, her soft expression never faltering.
“Bewitched,” Luka says, “I’m sorry if we hurt you in any way-”
“You didn’t. Of course you didn’t. I know you two and Kagami, you would never try to hurt me.”
For a moment, Luka forgets the akuma form, and only sees Marinette. Marinette smiling through the pain she didn’t want to share. Marinette, whose heart’s song was full of record scratching and plucked guitar strings. Marinette, who only looked happy when she got news that she was going to China over break, and practically disappeared off the map.
“Mari-” Felix clears his throat, “Bewitched. Please tell us exactly what happened.”
Her lips curl inward, and she averts her gaze. “It doesn’t matter.”
“If it upset you, then it does matter,” Felix argues, “Please, don’t push us away anymore.”
She shakes her head, averting her gaze. “It’s only a matter of time before I find Adrien. Make him see the error of his ways.” A pause before a smile creeps across her face and she has the courage to look at them again. “Once he’s dealt with, we’ll never have to worry again. I promise.”
It’s difficult to hide the hurt in his eyes, and upon seeing him, it seems Marinette is also hurt by it. Her words are supposed to be encouraging, calm like the ocean waves rolling onto the land, kissing sandy toes.
Of course, he knew it was the smart thing not to bring his guitar, but he wished he had it now. If she could only hear the sound her own heart was playing.
“Don’t look at me like that,” she quivers, as though she’s about to cry. “You know I care about you deeply. But I couldn’t ask you to take this on for me.”
“Why not?”
“It wouldn’t be fair.”
“So it’s more fair to pile all of that on yourself?” Felix asks.
“Please, we want to help,” Luka insists.
“You do?”
His nod is immediate, and from the way she melts regarding him, she knows that he’s being sincere and truthful. Slowly, she begins to move her hand from her side.
“There’s one way you can help.”
In a flash, he’s shoved hard out of the way and onto the ground. Looking up, he realizes what Felix just did.
And that he’s now glowing pink.
