The soft crackling of the firewood was the only sound audible, you and Aemond basking in each other’s silence with a book in your hands, occupied devouring the several pages. Before the Dragons was clutched between Aemond’s nimble fingers, while you resorted to something more debased–A Caution for Young Girls.
‘Are you this depraved?’ was your husband’s question as you plucked the book from the shelf of the library to which you just bit the tip of your tongue, flashing him a sheepish smile. You weren’t–you were just curious what all the fuss was about.
It was the whispers of your ladies-in-waiting that eventually piqued your interest to the point you had to read that book.
Aemond sat in an armchair in front of the fireplace, clad in his nightwear not wearing his eyepatch, and you sat between his parted legs with your head leaning against his knee and your body illuminated by your emerald green nightgown, your own legs crossed.
Besides the sounds of the fire, you occasionally heard him huffing or humming whenever he read a part that obviously caught him by surprise.
You hadn’t even read more than one quarter of the book, but your blood was already boiling–and not out of anger. At some point, you were so aroused, you couldn’t even focus on the pages in front of you anymore, rereading a paragraph without the words settling into your brain.
It was the explicit way of phrasing different acts of depravity that scattered your brain, one in particular catching your attention. The position Lady Coryanne Wylde described was lewd with her sitting astride her paramour, but the positive effects it had got you curious.
Aemond and you had been married for less than six moons. It was an arranged marriage, but you two had quickly figured out how well you got along–especially in the privacy of your marital chambers.
But you had never gone further than lying on your back and having him between your legs, and while you truly admired the sight, your body longed for something new.
The thick book was quickly placed aside with a dumb thud filling the comfortable silence, catching your husband’s attention. “Are you done?” He asked, spotting his raised eyebrow as you shifted to kneel between his legs.
Both your palms lay flatly on top of his sturdy thighs close to where they met his abdomen, muscles flexing with you squeezing them. You had your bottom lip slightly pushed forwards into a pout, furrowed brow looking up at him.
“No,” you replied succinctly.
Aemond, being the careful observer as always, was able to fathom the reason for your distraction very quickly just by the way the pads of your thumbs drew lazy circles over the insides of his thighs, terribly close to his member and making it impossible for him to focus on his own book anymore.
The outline of his half hard cock already was poking through the thin linen of his smallclothes, causing you to shiver with desire at the thought of pulling down the only piece of clothing that stopped you from fisting it.
“Mhh,” the purr always managed to send a shiver down your spine, the epitome of his dominance and control over you. A sly smirk on his lips indicated he had caught you staring. “What is it then? What do you want?”
You’d never been good with words, so you settled on showing him instead.
Maybe it was because you were afraid of being rejected by him, though there wasn’t a reason you should be, but you slowly and carefully crawled onto his lap. Only when there did not come any objection from him, you grew bolder, and more aroused. Especially, because you felt him hard and ready beneath you, cock nestled snugly against your mound.
With your legs parted to accommodate the width of his hips, the silk of your nightgown was rucked up around your hips, revealing the dampened spot in the front of your smallclothes to him.
It seemed as if he had not lowered his eyebrow once ever since you had placed your book aside, this time looking at you with an expression that was just screaming ‘are you serious?’
You blushed under his intense gaze, more so when you noticed the purple of his eye completely eclipsed by black.
Your hands flew to his shoulders for leverage and his found solace on your hips as you started to rub your hips against his, his gaze not leaving your body once though he was not quite sure where to keep it–flickering from your face to your breasts to your womanhood and back up again.
It was the first swiveling of your hips that had Aemond taking in a sharp breath in unison with you, but even if it spurred you on, you kept on grinding slowly against him.
“You truly are depraved, huh?” Aemond mused, the corner of his lips curled upwards into a smirk.
“Is it depraved that I want my husband?” You protested in feigned offense, never once stopping your movements. “... in this way?”
This had him scoffing, and instead of replying to you right away, he trailed his hand towards your clothed cunt, thumb pressing against your sensitive pearl. It happened in tandem with your hips rutting forwards, inevitably pressing further against his digit which caused you to moan, grip on his shoulders tightening.
“Tis, because you’ve read this debased shit before.”
It was not the first time you had heard him speaking like that, and the initial surprise was quickly replaced by desire. That side of Aemond often was something solely reserved to you. Outside of your marital chambers, he was the well composed Prince, second son of King Viserys Targaryen, but dropped the façade in the safety of your quarters.
And even though his words were harsh, you knew they were not meant to hurt or mock you.
“Oh, is that so?” A hint of teasing was laced within your voice. “Because I have not heard you complaining about my depravity this morning, husband.”
As you tried to still your hips, your husband was quick to squeeze your flesh and guide you along his throbbing member on his own accord, his breathing labored by now while yours was interrupted by the quietest of moans every now and then.
Your hooded eyes were fixed on his features, and you spotted the tip of his tongue pressing into the inside of his cheek, clearly at a loss for words, prompting you to fuel the fire even more.
A hand left his body to brush the tresses of your hair over your shoulder, twirling it around your palm to smoothen it out. With your head slightly tilted downwards, you flashed him the most innocent look you could muster, tongue darting out to wet your lips.
“As far as I am concerned, I thoroughly indulged you with it.”
Before you could say anything else, Aemond brought his hand up to your throat, applying a good bit of pressure to it while simultaneously bringing you closer to his face. A trail of goosebumps prickled on your skin, and no matter how badly you tried, the anticipation that bubbled in your stomach pushed a grin onto your lips.
You expected him to say something cold-witted in return, not letting your teasing go without a punishment, yet it did not come. The sudden kiss that followed the forced proximity was every bit as passionate and breathtaking as the kisses you had shared before, doing nothing but making you greedy for more.
Everything after that happened in a blurr.
With your hands entangled in the long tresses of your husband’s pale mane, he was the one responsible for pushing down his smallclothes to free his cock. It slapped against his lower stomach, painfully hard and begging to be buried inside of your core.
The hand that was not occupied with fisting his member made quick work of pushing the linen of your smallclothes aside to grant himself better access to your soaked cunny, and with two fingers easing into your entrance, you didn’t have any time to admire the sight of his pretty cock, pale and curved slightly to the right with a bright blush covering the bulbous tip.
“So fucking soaked,” Aemond noted, eye glued to where his fingers disappeared inside of you. “All this for me, mh?”
His fingers were working you open, while you hovered your hips above him, keeping them lifted to make it easier for his hand. Instead of replying, a shuddered breath escaped your lips, intensifying each time his fingers brushed the sensitive spot inside of you.
“S-Seven h–”
The word caught in your throat when the stretch of his fingers was replaced by his cock, one hand gripping your hip to help you lower yourself down on him. No matter how often you bedded each other, you were certain that was something you would never get used to.
It was delicious–his girth allowing you to feel every ridge and even the slight curve on your way down.
Once you were fully seated on top of him, you rocked your hips back and forth to adjust to his size and get used to the unfamiliar angle, the tip of his cock hitting spots within you that had you feeling filled to the brim.
You eventually settled forward, leaning over him to brace yourself with your arms slung around his neck, head dipping low to connect your lips in a kiss that was shy of gentleness.
While his tongue swirled around yours, your walls clenched around his solid weight inside of you. Quiet grunts of him turned into desperate growls, eagerly drowned by your mouth on his.
His forehead tipped against yours as he pulled back to catch his breath, a strained ‘move‘ slipping past his lips. The tone of his voice made it difficult for you to decipher if it was meant as encouragement or a warning, but you still obeyed.
Both his hands landed on your hips again, tightly gripping your flesh in an attempt to keep himself composed enough to not flip you over and fuck you into oblivion. You knew your pace was not sufficient for him, too slow and calculated, but with the new position, you needed a few moments to adjust, especially to the control it gave you.
Your hips moved faster, the swirling turning into grinding, and when Aemond’s head tipped back with a raspy “Fuck,” kiss swollen lips slightly agape, you felt a surge of boldness and confidence soaring through your veins.
Blissful moans started to pour from you as you built up a rhythm, tips of your fingers burying themselves into the plane of his broad shoulders. He barely hissed at the pain, too occupied dragging down the neckline of your nightgown to free your tits, one perky bud immediately embraced by his lips.
You continued grinding down on him, sucking his hard member in with each movement, sobs and moans of pleasure steadily streaming out of your mouth. Your eyes squeezed shut in delight, the fire inside of you causing you to tear your eyes off the Dragon beneath.
The angle in which you ground your hips against his allowed you to rub your pearl against the base of his length, the wispy, silver hair at it massaging it enough to slowly tighten the knot inside of you.
The fire in the fireplace was almost extinguished, safe for a very few fragments of wood more annealing than burning. It made you terribly aware of the wet squelching sounds of your bodies meeting that bounced off the walls of your chambers.
When you opened your eyes again, you were greeted by a sight that was truly created by the Seven. Both of Aemond’s eyes were squeezed together, brow scrunched with the most delicious groans and grunts leaving his lips.
“Aemond,” you whined, and just the desperate tone of your voice was enough to have his lids snapping open again. He knew what you wanted, he could tell by the way your core clenched around him that you were close to peaking. And as on cue, he planted his feet firmly onto the ground and his hands at the curve of your arse.
He lifted your hips a bit to allow him to pound his own up into yours, taking over where you couldn’t anymore. “Do it,” he purred. “Let go for me.”
That seemed to be enough for the taut string inside of you to snap, the pleasure within your soaring to the point you screamed his name.
You clung to his shoulders, but yet maintained to ground yourself against him as your trembling body was determined to ride him through his own release. And with the ridges of his stomach tightening, you knew his peak was tingling just at the base of his cock, only needing a few more thrusts to spill himself inside of you.
“Gods, Aemond,” you whined, post orgasmic haze making you more vocal than normal. “Just-Just like that.”
That elicited a growl from him, the snaps of his hips increasing to the point your breathing became hiccuped, catching in your throat with little to no time to fill your lungs with air.
“That’s–fuck–that’s it,” the words were a pant, elongated and strained.
And then, his hips stuttered as he felt his cock spending itself inside of your trembling walls. He was twitching so much, it forced him to stop moving, stilling with you fully seated on top of him.
You took it in your own hands to help him through his euphoric state, rutting your hips against his. When your pearl brushed his hips yet again, Aemond scoffed at the ensuing moan that left your lips, the first sign the repercussions of his peak slowly subsided.
He leaned up, pressing a sloppy kiss to your jaw, his heavy breathing fanning across your flushed skin.
And as you tried to peel yourself off his lap, a sturdy arm snaked around your waist to keep you in place, your husband tutting at the feeble attempt. He leaned forwards, steadying your body with his arm, and gathered the book from the ground, handing it back to you.
A puzzled look was written all over your features, which had Aemond scoffing.
“We are not done yet,” he purred. “I want you to read to me… and we will do whatever act is described next.”

I remember the first time Rafe Cameron hit me.
It was a couple days after my eighteenth birthday, the two of us alone at Tannyhill. I hadn’t spoken to him in those days out of irritation, the memory of my birthday ending in disaster haunting me every time I closed my eyes.
Rafe threw me a big party at one of his father’s empty properties, the unused house filled with teens and young adults, drinking and singing along to music of my choosing. There was a table stacked with gifts from both friends and strangers alike, the phrase “happy birthday” was imprinted into my mind from the countless times I heard it that night.
I wore a pretty, pink dress–one that Rafe bought me specifically for that day. He told me I looked like a princess, and that was all the convincing I needed to put it on.
Rafe was supposed to drive me home that night after the party died down. He was supposed to kiss me sweetly on my doorstep before I went inside and tell me how beautiful I am.
Instead, he drove us deep into the Cut, claiming that he needed to run a quick errand before he dropped me off. I already knew where we were going–he had taken me plenty of times before–and it annoyed me greatly.
He was already high enough, his blown out pupils and constant sniffing the only evidence I needed to know. The fact that his priority was going to his drug dealer’s house made me upset, and I let him know that.
Rafe was irrational when he was high, but I didn’t think he would kick me out of his car and leave me stranded at the house of the guy that supplied his blow.
It was dark out, the moon high in the sky as the night stretched on. All of my friends were drunk off their ass, my parents were asleep, and there were no car services running in that area at two in the morning. My boyfriend was long gone and despite the offer, I refused to get in a car with the man that sold drugs to teenagers for a living.
It was a relief when Kelce pulled up to me on the side of the road that night. I don’t remember how long I had been walking, but I do remember how grateful I was.
I also remember how much I wished I just kept walking home instead.
“Go away, Rafe! You’re scaring me!” I yelled from behind the door. The wood vibrated against my back as the man on the other side beat against it with his fist, my heart jumping every time it connected with the surface I pressed myself against.
“Open this fucking door!” Rafe’s voice was loud and angry even through the thick wood of the old house.
My heart nearly jumped out of my body when he shook the doorknob with a terrifying strength, the entire frame shaking violently as he pulled against it with what I’m sure is his entire body weight. My hand flew to my mouth to keep the fearful yelp from escaping my lips after I felt the force of his foot kicking against the door.
I felt like I was in a horror movie–like I was Wendy and Rafe was Jack. I could feel the eyes of the audience watching in horror as I hid in a room with my boyfriend on the other side out for my blood.
The sound of the door frame splintering drew a scream out of me, one that I couldn’t hide as I flung myself off the door. There was nowhere I could hide from the blonde on the other side, the room bare of any hiding spots other than the long table in the center. I ran to the part of the room farthest from the door, eager to put as much distance between the pulsating door and I as possible.
I watched in horror as the door flew open a few yards away, the wood by the handle splintering as Rafe’s foot made contact.
“Rafe, please!” I squeaked out when he caught my eye. The fuming nineteen-year-old ignores my pleads, long legs making record time as the long strides carry him to me. “Please! Just–just calm down!”
I moved around the table, nearly stumbling over my own feet as I held my arms out in defense against Rafe who was fast approaching.
“You’re dead.” Rafe grits through his teeth. His finger raises to point at me as an aid to emphasize his point, the other hand shoving the chairs I moved to block his path back under the table carelessly. “You hear me? You’re fucking dead!”
Spotting the open door just a few feet away, I take a final glance at the man before making an attempt to bolt for it.
I knew I wasn’t fast enough–the move was quite predictable and I‘m sure Rafe saw it coming from a mile away. I barely took four steps towards the frame before I felt his fingers grip the back of my shirt, the movement jerking me backwards and right into Rafe’s arms.
I felt my body hit the wall shortly after, the hard surface colliding with my body leaving a sharp pain in my side and arm as I’m thrown against it disgracefully. I don’t get the chance to recover before I feel a familiar hand make contact with the side of my head and press it into the cool surface of the wall. My body shivers from the sudden change in temperature, cheek flat against the patterned surface as Rafe holds me there in a bone crushing grip.
“You think I’m stupid? You thought I wouldn’t find out?” The blonde says into my ear roughly, the feeling of his breath brushing against my ear giving me goosebumps. I shook my head the best I could under his hold, wincing as he pressed my head harder into the wall.
“Rafe, it’s not like that–”
I feel Rafe’s fingers move from the side of my face and take home in the roots of my hair, nails scratching against my scalp as he grips the strands by the base. He yanks me away from the wall by the hair balled up in his fist and I yelp in pain.
“Huh?” Rafe forces me to meet his gaze, eyes glaring down at me angrily. “It’s not like what? You weren’t texting my friend behind my back? I’m imagining shit now?”
“Yes!” The worse slipped out faster than I could stop it, regret immediately filling my body as I held my own hand over Rafe’s that has found home in my now tender scalp. “No, Rafe. You’re just–it’s just a misunderstanding!”
Rafe digs into the depths of his pocket, scoffing at me in disgust as he does so. He pulls out a phone; my phone. The pink case catches my attention immediately as he unlocks the device with my own scared face.
He already knew the passcode, the action was just one to show his power over me in the moment.
I watch him silently school through my text messages as I tremble in his arms, struggling to hold myself up in the strange and uncomfortable position. The screen reflects off his blue eyes as he reads through my conversations, the concept of privacy no longer.
“‘Thanks for the help, Kelce. I really needed that.’” He reads off the text I sent to his friend late last night. His eyes flicker up to mine, the depths of them filled with jealous rage as he forces me to stare into them. “What the fuck were doing texting my friend at two in the morning?”
“I was texting him because you left me stranded in the Cut with your drug dealer at two in the fucking morning, Rafe!” I snapped at him, the fear quickly turning into anger and frustration as he accused me of doing anything else. “Not that you would remember; you were too coked out to care about anything but yourself.”
I should have left him right then, but I didn’t. And It was no surprise that it would continue to happen.
Instead, I sit behind these grand, white walls of Tannyhill, eyes glued to the picture frame on Rafe’s desk.
He was working silently in front of me, fingers making quick work of the keyboard as his own eyes flicker back and forth from the computer screen to the papers spread across the dark wood of the desk that was once his father’s.
I looked so happy in that pretty, pink dress. A smile that stretched a mile wide grazed my lips as Rafe embraced me from behind, a fond look in his eye as he looked down at my glowing face.
The memories of those days would flood my mind the moment I set eyes on this house, which is why I couldn’t stand being here. I couldn’t live a life in a house where I can remember every room I’ve been beaten and berated in during one of my boyfriend’s coke induced rages.
Sighing heavily, I tear my eyes away from the picture and lean back onto the firm couch I was seated in. I try to hide the wince caused by the sharpness in my side as I move, ribs flaring up in pain once again.
Rafe does not take being disrespected lightly–not by anyone. I already knew that before I said what I did a few nights before, and I also knew the consequences.
I shouldn’t have been surprised when I woke up just a few hours later with him standing over me, the darkness of his looming figure making my heart stop for just a few seconds before I realized it was him. I should have known he would show crossed on God-knows-what, the mixture of substances increasing his hostility tenfold.
I didn’t fight against it when he ripped me out of the bed with a fistful of my hair, or when he threw me against my dresser, the sharp corner digging to my side as I was shoved into the piece of furniture. Rafe is bigger than I am, his strength outmatches mine dangerously; there was simply no point. I didn't cry out for help when his calloused palm struck my face the first time, nor the second time.
When he told me to apologize, I did. When he went through my wardrobe and ripped apart all the outfits I’d been scolded by him for wearing to work, I said nothing. I stood silently as I watched the ruined fabrics pile up on the ground in front of me. When he told me that I was lucky to have him because no one else would want a girl that dresses like a prostitute, I didn’t argue.
I didn’t resist it because it would only make things worse for me. It always did.
He kissed me goodnight and I kissed him back like nothing happened, the ache in my side burning hot as he traced the stinging skin of my cheek where his heavy hand met my face just a few moments before.
I used to fight back in the beginning. I would kick, bite, scratch, scream. I would threaten to leave if he did it again, to tell the police and give them all the evidence.
“Who would believe you?” Is what he told me, and he was right.
Who would believe some random, middle-class girl over Ward Cameron’s son? On what planet would Ward ever allow his family’s name to be tainted by his son being arrested for hitting his girlfriend?
The defeat I felt is something I still cannot describe.
“Laia?” I snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of Rafe’s voice. My eyes land on him behind the desk, a hum leaving my lips in response. “You okay?”
I nodded my head, afraid that I’d whimper in pain from the rib that is surely bruised by his own doing. I pulled my hand away from the sore spot slowly, teeth clenching together to keep my face expressionless.
It doesn’t go unnoticed by my boyfriend, blue eyes flickering down to the hand that I’ve removed from my side and back up to my face. He says nothing for a moment, just allowing our eyes to hold each other tensely.
“Come here.”
I stare at him for a long few five seconds before moving, ribs screaming as I stand up from my seat on the leather couch. I walk over to the blonde behind the desk, awkwardly standing in front of him as I await further instruction.
Rafe reaches forward to place his hands on my waist, the warm prints of his fingers pressed firmly into the skin under my top as he pulls me closer. He angles me sideways slightly, hand moving to lift up my shirt. He just stares silently for a minute as he analyzes the bruise, eyes glued to the large spot spread over my skin.
I knew exactly what it looked like; I’d been staring at it for three days and watching it change color as the time passed. It was big and splotchy, a mixture of yellow, red, and purple in a somewhat rectangular shape displayed across my left rib cage. It was nasty, and I’m sure Rafe thought the same.
“Damn, baby…” He finally breaks the silence. “I did this?” He looks up at me, eyes meeting mine as he waits for an answer.
I nodded my head again.
Rafe drags his gaze back down to the bruise, a look of both awe and pity covering his face. I flinch when his fingers move to trance over the perimeter of the bruise, sucking in a sharp breath of both pain and surprise from the lack of warning. The hand that grips my waist tightens, keeping me still as he studies it closer.
Leaning into me, he brings his face to my side. I feel his soft lips press into the discolored skin, a gentle kiss that leaves me breathless for a moment. The gesture was something he did often; sweet kisses to cover the bruises he leaves behind.
It was poetic almost–like a band-aid over a bullet hole, or a drop of water in a wilted garden.
“You know I love you,” Rafe pulls away slightly, eyes peeking up to stare into mine. “Right?”
“I love you, too.” The words leave my mouth quietly, the phrase feeling at home on my lips.
The blonde leans back into the chair and pulls me with him, his once open lap now occupied by me as I’m given no choice but to sit. The hand that was used to trace over the ache in my side rises to my face, the same palm he used to strike me now cupping my cheek warmly, thumb stroking over the skin softly.
I’m tempted to lean into the familiar feeling, but I don’t, instead sitting stiffly on his thighs as he caresses my face.
“You know I don’t like doing that–I hate it.” I nod my head at him wordlessly, the sight of his striking, blue eyes leaving me unable to speak. “But you just don’t give me a choice. I just…You make me so angry sometimes, Laia. And–and you do it on purpose.” He looks at me with an expression of both exasperation and desperation, head shaking from side to side as he speaks.
He wasn’t wrong–sometimes I did make him mad on purpose. Never over anything serious, only things like calling his favorite show boring or saying his outfit didn’t match. Little things that we would laugh about later.
This wasn’t one of those times.
I nodded anyway, choosing to maintain my silence in place of verbal response. It was just easier to get through it that way.
“All of our actions have consequences, baby.” He continues on, the familiar phrase vibrating against my eardrums. “You knew better than to say that, but you did it anyway. Do you not respect me?”
“I do…” I say quietly, a defensive tone barely present in my voice.
“So why would you think it’s okay to say something like that to me?”
I didn’t know how to respond to him truthfully without him getting angry again. I said it because that’s what I thought at that moment.
“I said I was sorry…” My eyes dropped from his gaze, instead choosing to hold contact with my own hands as they twitched nervously in my lap. “I just…you were calling me names, and–and it made me really mad because I didn’t do anything wrong!” My voice barely raised an octave, but it was still enough to convey my frustration.
“You’re right.” Rafe nods his head at me in response. “You didn’t do anything wrong. You looked very beautiful in that outfit and it’s not your fault that other guys can’t keep their eyes off you. I was being mean and I’m sorry for that.”
Rafe traces over my lips with his thumb, the warm digit gently smoothing out the pout that had appeared on my face.
“But it’s not safe for you to be dressed like that around a bunch of gross, strange men you don’t know all day. You haven’t heard the things they say about you, but I have. It makes me sick.” He says with concern.
I look at him confused, unsure of what he’s talking about. All my customers have been nothing but respectful towards me, the implication of them being anything else but that leaving me puzzled.
“It scares me to think about what could happen if I weren’t there to watch over you…I just want you to be safe. I know you think I’m hovering; I know you think it’s annoying and ‘controlling.’” Rafe’s worry seems to be genuine, the crease between his brows deepening as he looks up at me in his lap. “I know that. But how else am I supposed to make sure nothing bad happens to you?”
“I can take care of myself, Rafe.”
“I know you think that, Laia. I’m not saying that you can’t, either.” My boyfriend shakes his head at me as he speaks. “You’re a smart girl, but you don’t know everything. I’m a guy–I know how guys think. Sometimes I know better than you do, and sometimes you should listen to me. Okay?”
I say nothing for a moment. There was a slight tension in the air and I could feel his eyes on me.
My eyes remained fixated on the fingers in my lap, nails picking at each other mindlessly. My gaze is pulled away from the digits by Rafe’s knuckles underneath my chin, my eyes forced to keep contact with his instead as he awaits my response.
“Okay?” He repeats the word a second time, not accepting my silence as an answer.
“Okay.” I say quietly.
Rafe nods his head at me, the fingers keeping my chin in place moving to tuck a loose braid behind my ear.
“And I’m sorry I hurt you this bad; I should have been more careful.” He says, referring to the big, fat bruise hidden beneath my shirt. “I was high and I–I shouldn’t have come over when I was like that. I went too far.”
Rafe says that every time this happens. He always has an excuse, whether he’s sober or higher than the moon that lights our sky at night. But I always accept it.
Maybe I was stupid for that, but it would be a lie to say that I cared.
He was remorseful every time, I could see that it hurt him to see the pain he caused me after he finally calmed down. He would always apologize, and I would accept it because I knew he was really sorry–even if I knew it would probably happen again.
I loved him too much to leave. I’d been with him for almost four years; he was my first kiss, my first date, my first–and only–boyfriend. I promised myself to him, the diamond ring with our names engraved inside had been sitting heavy on my finger for two of those years. I helped him through his darkest moments; through his cocaine addiction, when he got kicked out of his house, when his dad died. I was there for all of it.
This relationship meant too much to me to let it go–Rafe meant too much to me. It’s why I allowed so many things that people say I shouldn’t, why I allowed myself to be treated in a way that would make me pity someone else if they were going through the same thing.
I was strong enough to handle it all, even if it left me feeling drained at the end of the day. To me, it was a small price to pay.
“I don’t like being so rough with you, but I feel like it’s the only way you’ll listen to me.” Rafe sounds disappointed, though I’m not sure if it’s in himself or in me. “I don’t like it, but if that’s what I have to do, then that’s what’s going to happen. Clearly, it’s working.”
Rafe’s eye’s trail down to my outfit, silently approving the choice. The big, pink sweater I found at the back of my closet was far from seasonal, but I needed something to cover the bruises that littered my arms and body. The plaid skirt I paired with it was something Rafe bought for me a few weeks ago; I chose it because I wouldn’t have to worry about him not liking it.
“My sweet girl…” He says softly. His strong arms wrap around me firmly, careful to avoid the spot that I’d been nursing all day. “You’re just so perfect for me.”
I allowed myself to melt into him, the stiffness of my body gone as I accepted his warm embrace.

Words floated and spun in your head, an elaborate thread of language that you did your best to weave together as you wrote each word that crossed your path in the book before you. You wrote out each one in the English alphabet, translating the syllables you read aloud into a full word you could understand by connecting the pronunciation to its English counterpart. The process was absolutely time consuming, and it worked. Days passed since that night with Namor, and you had only thought of translating and learning the ancient language.
Something about that interaction seemed to have changed everything you had grown accustomed to. The women let you bathe on your own, you were given simple but still very elegant dresses, and they even smiled at you now. They may have been false but the faint welcoming energy made you feel.. happy? The young girl who had been previously frightened of you, now looked in your eyes and gave you a grin that felt like the warmth of the sun you missed.
You did your best to speak to them, writing and translating simple phrases like “how are you?” or “good morning/night” for whenever you saw them. You didn't know if your accent or pronunciation of words was correct, only going off of what you had heard those around you spoke like. Yucatec Mayan was very different from Spanish, though some words were alike. You delighted in glee when you translated a word and saw it was one you were familiar with.
The book you were given, Le Ujo’, was the main occupant of your time. You had only been able to translate a page or two, but even then you were able to make out the story within the papers. It focused around a girl, a girl who was like the moon. Her personality was described as cold but warm to those who saw past it, something about the few paragraphs you were able to read made it remind you of yourself. Her features were described almost identically like yours, you were half convinced it was written about you. But it couldn’t have been right? The pages were crinkled and worn, ink stains and blotches adorned it and so you believe it must’ve been a few decades old.
You did wonder where it came from, if the story was a part of the ancient Mayan culture that the world had long forgotten. If Namor and his people truly were still well preserved in time, they must’ve had a thousand stories to tell. The anticipation to quickly learn the language and demand to be told them all made your heart pound, it kept you going.
Being so busy now gave you less time to wander of the world you’d left behind, the subject still felt like a dagger in your heart when you did. It was only at night when you lay awake, causing a fit and moving every 3 seconds due to the unbearable thoughts of your mind, was when you’d wander back to your family and friends.
You came to think you understood Namors motives in keeping you hidden away here. Why he kept his people safe, their secrets and thriving life. These people were his own family, people he wanted to protect. The risk of a human running to the hills and telling everyone your secrets is not something you’d want to happen to you if you so graciously invited someone into your own home. You were so grateful to witness everything you had, but you still wondered why he hadn’t just left you on the beach. He explained his reasoning but it still irked you, how did he know about the men? About what they wanted to do to you? He said he felt connected to the sea, maybe the ocean called and told him. Maybe he felt what you did in your own bones, connected to that ancient spirit that resides in the depths of the waves.
The strangest thing was that when you thought of him, you felt that longing you always felt when looking at water. To urge to go to him and simply be there took a hold of you each time, it made you burn in either embarrassment or rage. You were unable to tell between the two.The resentment and the part of you that was simply human fought against each other day and night.
You tried not to dwell on that topic, the argument ringing bright and clear in your mind as you still tried to continue with your studies. But as much as you tried, you couldn’t ignore the pounding heart and rapid heating of your cheeks as your mind always managed to drift back into thinking of him.
~~~~
You sat in your chair, back and neck hurting as you craned your head into the book. Your wrist ached as you wrote down each letter without having to look back at the parchment paper made to help you. You managed to memorize each symbol, calculating the letters into place and quickly jotting them down as you got them. You’d make sure you were right when you finished.
The sound of a whistle and the sweet gentle call of your name broke your train of thought, making you shoot your head in its direction. There at the entrance of the room was the young girl, Nikté.
You learned her name when she first saw you reading the mayan book, eyes going wide as she suddenly began to talk frantically. You obviously hadn’t known how to tell her you didn’t know what she was saying, so you resulted in trying to write the word “learning” in her language. She nodded her head immediately after, that smile across her lips as she introduced herself properly at last. From then on, she visited you often, always coming into your room to tell you when food was ready, when the bath water was on its way. Though you mostly communicated by saying one word, it made you feel less alone. As if you had made a friend.
You stretch your arms, holding them above your head as you greet her, “Hola.” Smiles paint both your faces as she makes her way towards you. Her long black hair flowing behind her, the jingle of her jewelry is heard throughout the cavern as she appears in front of you. “Hola.” She replies, politely bowing her head to you.
You didn’t know what time it was, having gotten lost in your studies and skipped the time in which they brought the bath water to you. You stood up from the chair to stand at her height, bowing your own head to her as well as continuing to stretch by bending parts of your body you felt knots in.
Usually, she would sit down after you greeted her. Helping you with word accents and such but today she did not even look at the table.
“P'isib u janal?” You asked, ‘food time?
She shook her head, when she did you noticed the smile on her face. It was wider, happier, lovelier.
“Taal u.” She simply says, reaching her hand towards yours. The cold blue skin greeting your own made you shiver. She intertwined her fingers with yours, giving you a soft squeeze before nodding her head to the direction of the door.
“Taal u.” Come.
~~~
She led you through the halls, still walking hand in hand with you as you suddenly came to a stop before the room you had seen her and the two women weaving your dresses.
“Pa’atik.” She told you, Wait. She let your hand go, going inside of the dimly lit area and leaving you out in the hall.
The faint dripping of water, loud voices, and laughs were the constant noises you heard here. It had become second nature to block them out but you decided to listen to your surroundings as you waited for your friend. The rustle of fabric, the jingle of jewels, and what sounded like a hushed argument came from the place you waited outside of. You fidget with your fingers, wondering what you were even waiting for. The urge to walk back into the room and continue reading consumed your being, and it took everything in your body to stay planted where you were.
A minute or two passed when you were suddenly pulled inside the room. Your heart leaped out your chest and you let out a small scream as you were suddenly sat onto a plush chair in the middle of the room.
Nikté’s eyes greated your own, crinkled by the smile of her face. Her long fingers made their way through your hair, softly beginning to detangle it as you stared at her in confusion. You drifted your gaze as she made her way behind you, trying to take in your surroundings as this was your first time in this room.
You had only ever seen the guards, Nikté, and the two women during your stay here but the sight before you made you realize how you truly didn’t know the strange world you were in.
At least 10 women stood in the crowded space, all handling either jewelry or large amounts of fabric. Shining, glittering, or sheer, the yards of silk flowed off the tables around you and onto the floor like water. They flooded the room, a carpet of colors decorated the floor and your eyes went wide. You’d only ever seen such fabric of high quality in boutiques while shopping for dresses. Where did they even get these from?
You looked at the beautiful patterns and colors before you. White, black, and red colored dresses caught your attention. Each unique and with a personality of their own, all with different skirts and necklines. You wondered who or what they were for, enamored with the intricate details of them all. Patterns of flowers and ocean waves looked to be hand woven into the hems , rising up and up like flames and scattering across the bodice of each.
You couldn’t take your eyes off them, so entranced by their beauty you did not even notice the layering of beads upon your body. Heavy earrings were placed on your ears, pure jade decorated with gold and a matching necklace. The same type of jewelry they would dress you in to present you to Namor. You felt them, but didn’t truly notice until you looked away from those dresses and into a mirror. A large vanity style mirror was hung on the wall before you, you stared at your reflection.
Something about you changed. The last you had seen yourself in the mirror was the first day you were here, you could still feel that small piece in your hands as you flexed them. Back then you were scared, utterly frightened and confused of everything, but now you weren’t. Though still in the dark of several things, like where these beings around you even lived and came from, you seemed happier. The once deep bags of your eyes seemed to have filled out, you carried yourself taller, and the jewelry you once dreaded to see now made your stomach whirl in nervousness.
You were going to see him again. You swore to not think much of it but you kept remembering the book. You didn’t know if he picked out for you personally, but you wondered if he remembered reading about the girl who looked and acted just like you. You wondered if that's why he chose it. He even translated the symbols for you and wrote down their phonetic sounds. You began to think of that night and tending to his wounds. Reminding yourself of those things he said that made your heart skip a beat, stupid stupid man.
The anger you held for him kept you sane, or that’s what you’d like to believe. You didn’t know why you couldn’t stop fidgeting. Your knee bounced up and down, you bit your bottom lip, and you stared blankly at the mirror as you watched Nikté brush and place small pearls in your hair. She hummed softly, the water of her mask swishing with her as she moved her head side to side in the rhythm of the song she sang.
So sweet, so soft. Everything about her reminded you of the sun. The warmth of her voice and smile, the brightness of her eyes and laughs. She reminded you of Adeline. Though your friend on land was rather vulgar and half insane, she could be the nicest person you’d ever known when she wanted to. The sunset on the beach before you came here played through your mind, the way she looked at you with pure joy on her face made your heart ache. You got lost in the memory, going misty eyed before you felt a tap on your shoulder.
“Terminado.” Finished Nikté says, leaning over your shoulder to whisper it into your ear. You focus your gaze back to the mirror before you.
The front of your hair was covered in pearls appearing to look like a makeshift crown. The tiny beads reminded you of the fresh morning dew that coated the soft petals of flowers on that land you missed, small and delicate. The rest of it was loose and neatly pinned back so it stayed away from your face. All but two strands of hair poked out before your ears to frame your features.
You could almost die at the fact they made you look so pretty to only see him. Gave you such fine accessories and clothes for a man you didn’t even want to care to see. You recalled how he basically admitted he dressed you, the fact he might’ve wanted them to make you look beautiful made the skin on your cheeks burn.
How dare he make you feel this way after keeping you down here? What next, was he going to try to woo you in marriage?
The sudden thought made you burn even hotter, something inside you screamed in either delight or in fear. You couldn’t tell the difference. You quickly shook the thought away, simply looking back at the blue skinned girl behind you and smiling.
~~~~
Anxiety filled your gut as you were led down the now too familiar hall to Namors hut. The seconds felt like minutes as you attempted to work up something to say when you’d see him.
Do you thank him for the book? Pretend as if it meant nothing to you when in fact it meant everything? Do you ask him about the wounds, if they healed? Hell, why did you even care so much about what to say?
So many words, ideas, excuses came to your mind.
You were so captured by them that when you blinked you were suddenly in front of the curtain that separated him from you. There, just behind that flimsy piece of fabric, was the man you tried desperately not to think of day and night.
You felt as if your lungs were going to collapse from the air that had been sucked out. Fear, terror, anxiety, and a thousand more emotions shot through you as you made the decision to finally enter.
He was sitting lazily against the same chair he had sat in during your first meeting. His back was straight but his shoulders were slightly hunched as he held a pen in one hand and a piece of that same parchment paper you had in your room. He looked tense. A stern look rested on his features as he read what was before him.
Gold adorned his neck and shoulders with thick pauldron-like armor that sat atop them. Each layer was extremely detailed, either scaled or sharp edged swirls came together to resemble something that looked to be an ancient painting of a dragon. Hints of lapis lazuli coated the edges as a necklace of gold and shimmering pearls connected the two pieces of armor together, floating across his toned chest. Not a thing out of place. A white and red edged cape hung from him, flowing off and around like those fabrics you'd seen earlier. Smooth and soft like water.
You stared at the figure before you in absolute awe. Again, the only word you could even think of when you saw him was Ethereal.
He still hadn’t noticed you as you continued to take him in. So different from the last time you saw him, that weak and vulnerable air around him was once again powerful and tense. He never exactly told you what he was, you only found out he was a King through the people around you, but he really did look like a God.
You cough, placing your hands behind your back as you call for his attention. You straightened yourself as best as possible, trying to appear as unbothered as you could in the presence of him. Though if he started talking and you heard the voice that rang through your mind and made your knees weak, you didn’t know if it would’ve been possible to keep the act up. .
Namor looks up at you, his eyes scanning your body and face before that smile he always wore when he saw you appears.
He says your name. The thick and gruff accented voice made it sound so perfect, as if it were a piece of art specially made for him and only him to ever say. You braced yourself to feel your knees buckle, but instead the sound soothed you. It caressed a place deep down inside your gut and every tensed nerve inside you calmed. Every bad thought drifted away like smoke in the wind. How strange.
“You know, you never told me your name.” Were his first words to you after that.He lifted from his chair ever so gracefully, the fluid motion of his body drew you in as you stepped further into the room.
“I don’t think you ever asked.”You replied.
“No, I did not.” He chuckles. “It was actually Nikté who told me. It is nice to see you are making friends.” He gently nods his head, greeting you the way he always did.
“Did she now?” You nod your head in return as you stop behind the chair across from his. Your eyes met his, the dark of them swirled with a flurry of emotions. You didn’t look away this time. You didn’t roll your eyes and run away from him like you had before. No, how could you? You made it this far, why turn back now.
“How are your wounds?” You ask him, looking away and taking a seat on the chair in front of you. You grabbed a piece of melón that was gently set in the bowl of fruit on the table, realizing you hadn’t eaten at all this morning.
“Take a look for yourself.”
You look back up and into his direction too eagerly. He begins to pull away the fabric at his sides, the golden skin at his waist peaking out beneath. Smooth, unmarred skin was revealed to you and your eyes went wide.
“What?” You whisper to yourself. “But- that type of injury should have taken weeks to heal. There should be scabs, o-or at least a trace of scars— How did that even heal so quickly!” You question, brows furrowed in confusion as you stare at his waist. Impossible.
He simply laughs at you, hands falling away and the cape back into place. “That is actually the reason I called you here today.”
You looked back up at his face, seeing a playful grin set upon his lips. You lifted a brow, “Called me here? What? Like I’m your pet?”
Silence. The grin was wiped clean off his face, replaced with an emotion you could not quite read. You were going to ask if he was okay, worry spread through you as you realized you might’ve offended him. You considered apologizing for what you said, mouthing opening to say the words until he smiled.
His cheeks curved up until the crinkles at the corners of his eyes and the smile lines at his cheeks were on full display. He laughed, practically howling as he held his stomach.
You sank down and embarrassment filled your veins. That laugh would ring throughout your mind later, you knew it. It made your stomach do flips and your heart pound at the sound. He continued to shake with laughter as he set himself back down onto the chair before you. Slowly wiping away small tears that fell onto his skin.
“Pet! That’s funny.” He manages to say in between breaths, eyes open fully and set on you now.
“It wasn’t That funny..” You mumble before biting the fruit in your hands. You chewed as slowly as possible, savoring the bittersweet taste of the melón that soaked in your tongue. Its juice coated your fingers, the slippery texture almost had it falling from your hands.
It tasted like summer. Memories of your mother bringing you fruit after playing with friends on hot days rang through your mind. You did your best to focus on those times, doing and thinking of anything to ignore his gaze on you. It reminded you of why you even let yourself be here, your silly goal of somehow convincing him to let you go back to that life you missed. You won’t let your emotions keep you away from that. Or, at least you’ll try.
He snickered, clicking his tongue as the wide smile stayed. He shook his head as he did, the last few laughs falling away. “No, it was funny.”
You huff, rolling your eyes before taking an even bigger bite of fruit. “So, why am I here?” You ask, mouth half full. Juice spilled from the corner of your lips, seeping out and dripping down onto your chin. The orange colored sap slid down down down, onto your collarbones and the necklace you currently wore. You were too busy looking at him spitefully that you hadn’t noticed he was studying the way it that stuck to your skin.
You were about to say something, something snarky and no doubt stupid when you saw him staring at you. But it quickly faded from your mind as you saw his arm reach up. A strong calloused hand made its way towards your face, holding itself in a cupping position. Your body froze as you stared at the person it belonged to. His eyes were intense, set on not your own but rather your lips. His hand reached your face, cupping your chin softly. Much softer than anyone has ever held you. His thumb swiped across the corners of your lip, wiping away the stickiness on your chin with it as well.
“You are here because I have decided I need to show you something. A way of saying thank you for the other night.” Namor replies, his eyes slowly studying your face. You felt flushed as you watched him, your fingers dug deeper into the piece of fruit you held. The soft unbruised melón was now intended by your fingers, a darker orange where you held it than the rest of its untouched counterparts. He continued to hold your face a few seconds more, the warmth of him made you want to nuzzle into it. It took everything to resist.
Chills went down your spine, goosebumps spread across your skin when he gently brushed it away. Your mind was blank, everything you ever thought of was gone, it only focused on the lingering warmth on your cheek. His presence seemed to do that to you. Like if your mind was a compass and he was north.
You stared blankly at him, the unexpected action left you going crazy. Feelings bubbled in your gut, thoughts you didn’t even want to have about him all rushed and played in your mind.
God! What was he going to show you? Surely it wasn’t anything like.. that.. right?? This is only your third real conversation!
You tensed, blinking slowly as you finally gulped down the chewed fruit in your mouth. You forced yourself to breathe, slowly and steady.
His lips began to move, he was saying something. But you didn’t hear. Your ears rang as you slowly tried to pick up the scattered parts of your brain and put them back into place.
“Huh?” You managed to force out when you noticed that he was finished. Not having heard a single thing.
Whatever he said must have been very important because he suddenly stood. The action startled you, jumping slightly at it.
“I said to follow me. I need to show you something.” He says calmly, as if what he had done to do had no effect on him whatsoever. Well, why would it? He definitely knew what he was doing. Bastard.
“Oh okay.” You mumble in response, your voice faint as your eyes follow him. His strong back was turned to you as he walked out the hut, he didn’t even wait to hear your response. He was gone and you were left staring at the gentle swaying of the curtain before you.
You softly cursed him before taking the final bite of fruit in your hands. He really was going to be the death of you.
~~~~
“That’s absolutely hideous.” You say, voice painted in disgust.
A big metal suit stood before you. It was made of chunky metal, covered in wires and lamps and a large oxygen tank. Not only that but it was quite wide. No doubt that it had many layers residing inside of it, most likely designed to protect the person who wore it. It was rounded at the edges with a thick type of plexiglass helmet resting upon its top. It reminded you of a high tech space suit, the white paint of it like those you’d seen in movies.
“Ah, so now is when you care about something being attractive.” Namor says. You can’t see him but you could tell he had a shit eating grin on his face. You shook your head before turning to look at him. You glared, showing no amusement at his response.
You both stood outside his hut, near the body of water that surrounded the rocks of the cave. The glowing pools made the suit look blue, reflecting the light that showed upon it. You both were covered in the royal colors as well, the soft glow lit his eyes in a way that looked like they were swimming with stars. Though the shadows on his face made him look more menacing, his sculpted sharp features were more intense. The complete opposite to the softness of his eyes.
“What’s it even for?” You ask, tilting your head back to the strange thing before you. You tried to examine it even farther, attempting to figure out its intended use but instead more questions popped up inside your mind.
Where did it come from? Who made it? Why was it here? Where did they even keep it?
You placed a hand on the cold metal, smooth and slick. The suit looked new, as if no one had even dared touch it before you did.
“Deep sea exploration.” The male behind you says.
“Deep sea- what?” Your eyes went wide as you whipped your head to him. He chuckles, gently making his way towards you and the suit.
“I need you to get in it. Only if you want to see what I have to show you.” He sounded so calm, as if that request wasn’t something incredibly bizarre. You stared at him in disbelief. Your brows furrowed and you wanted to call him crazy.
“What would you have to show me that requires a deep sea exploration suit anyways?” You ask instead, emphasizing the words he used.
He gave you a sly look, mischief swirled in his eyes and smiled before looking away from you. “It’s not something I can really say, only show.”
You roll your eyes at him, sighing before backing up to take in the suit's entirety once more. You grimaced as you felt a tinge of fear inside you, it sent a chill down your back. You can’t imagine where he wants to take you in that. But, if his people lived in water, if they thrived there then, maybe… maybe you could trust him with this. He saved you once, let you heal him besides his protests, gave you a book you couldn’t be more grateful for. You had few reasons to trust him, but something told you they were a part of something grander than you knew.
‘Trust him..’ That call inside you roared at you.
If anything were to go wrong, he’d be there.
He’d be there, the words rang through your mind. They put you at ease, and you grabbed a hold onto that.
“I mean I guess but..” You begin. Even though calm soothed your mind, just agreeing to get in the suit made your bones cry out. Fear and excitement whirled inside of you, it made you want to crawl out of your skin and run from the leering unknown of what he was to show you.
You can trust him..’ You repeat to yourself, to your crying nerves as you turn to look at him.
“How am I going to get in?”
~~~~
The suit was not as heavy as you thought. Though hard to navigate in, the small light that it illuminated gave you a tiny sense of security in the dark of the ocean.
Namor helped you in, giving you a small lift as you climbed inside. Though he first insisted on flying you up, grabbing your waist before you began to protest. You trashed and pounded at his chest, demanding that he let you go, he merely laughed before bending his knee for you to step on.
You asked what he was going to wear, if you really were going to such a place where something of this sort was required surely he needed one too. He simply said “You’ll see.”
That was when you learned he could breathe underwater. You stared in shock as he led your metal arm through underwater caves, smiling and talking as if the fact he could do so was absolutely nothing.
You tried not to think about it, that night he saved you, but began to think you should have. You never acknowledged how he did it, the fact he simply had was enough for you. Though this would never have crossed your mind. You supposed it made sense, he was a King— a God—, to his people who could do the same. But even then it still puzzled you, they had blue skin and he did not. They had gills, he did not. His ears were pointed, theirs weren’t. He even had wings on his feet, hell. But perhaps it was seeing him in his natural habitat that surprised you. You’d only ever seen his people, never him.
There may have been a millisecond where you thought you understood him though, what he was. But in fact, you knew nothing even when you felt as if you knew everything. And maybe you did, maybe you just needed reassurance.Maybe you just needed him to say the words himself, to tell you. To soothe you. Because the way he spoke, the way words slid off his tongue and into your soul, made you feel as if a piece inside of you was missing. And his presence was the place they resided, so whenever you were near you felt whole. You felt as if you were home, as if you could trust him. Despite every nerve in your body and thought in your mind, the piece that called you to him was stronger than any force.
Even when the cold and incredible dark of the water surrounded you, even as it still sent a disgusting wave of fear over you, looking at him made all those feelings wash away. You did nothing but watch him lead you down into the depths the entire time. You watched him swim so gracefully it put the gentle swaying of the seaweed to shame.
You didn’t know how long the journey to your destination was, you didn’t even know where you were going. Only following Namor’s lead, you waited and waited to come to a stop. To see something that would indicate something was near.
You were about to ask, where he was leading you, how far and deep in the ocean were you going. That was until the gentle glow of blue lights illuminated him and your view. You watched his smile light up.
He swam faster, leaving you trailing behind as he seemed to perch atop something that looked like a building. You were going to cry out, tell him to come back but the water seemed to push you into his direction. You were beginning to drift away, the control of the suit slipping from you as fear took over once again. But he caught you, gently grabbing your hand before turning you around to see what he had been admiring.
What you saw then made everything come into place. You were so thankful for those fragments of culture that I saw in the cave, believing that was all he had to hide. But this… you now finally understood why he’s kept you there. If you even muttered a word about the cave, what you’d seen, someone might have come looking. Might have found this, you could never do that to them. No this… this was something pure, untouched and different from the world you knew. You would have given every life you could live if it meant to have seen this only once.
He called your name, but you couldn’t look away. A smile began to make its way onto your face, pure utter joy and wonder exploded inside your chest. It filled you, the cold around you seemed to fade and every worry was gone.
“Welcome to Talokan”
It was a city, an underwater city. Ancient mesoamerican architecture sprouted from every inch of the rocky walls and earth, carved carefully and beautifully. They were everywhere, on the seafloor and above. Round, squared, or sharp edged, those buildings covered every inch before you. Large natural plants decorated the surface of them, glowing in a natural blue light that seemed to come from their veins. Weeds swayed with the motions of the water, dancing to the harmonies of life around it. Fish and jellyfish carried that same blue glow as the plants. They floated like beautiful balls of light around you.
A grand pyramid was in the middle of it all, dyed red with hints of green. It loomed and towered over the city. But instead of being separated from everything else, it welcomed the surroundings. United rather than apart, it seemed to compliment the buildings around it rather than the other way around. It spread out, the structures bordering it were parts of it. You couldn’t tell where it ended and the rest started.
That was not the centerpiece though. No, how could it be?
It was the giant, beautiful ball of glowing light.
Huge and brighter than anything you’ve ever seen, it looked like the sun. Its light bounced off every surface, illuminating what you saw now. The glow filled your soul, your heart. That call you always felt when looking towards the ocean, it thrived there.
You hadn’t noticed the whales until one passed over you. A giant, beautiful creature whose song echoed around the walls of the city. So grand, so amazing. You’d never seen one so close.
Though there was something strange about it, you looked closely thinking that the spots scattered across their skin were abnormally large barnacles, but how wrong you were.
It was people. People who rode and grasped the back of those large magnificent creatures. People who could breathe underwater and had gills as well.
You hadn’t exactly caught a good glimpse of what they looked like in water, only having seen them as blurs in the shallow pools of the cave. But you saw now. They looked like any other person on land. Tan, pale, or dark skinned, they looked so human.
Maybe they once were, maybe their ancestors felt the gentle kiss of the sun on the land above. The feel of air filling their lungs and the crisp scent of spring flowers. You wondered what happened for them to end up here.
You once yearned for the water, for what resided in the depths of the unknown expanse. Being here made you think this was it. That this was the place that called and called you every time you set foot on the shore. Was this truly it?
You began to think the pressure of the water was getting to you, that the suit would give in and you’d suddenly wake up in that small hammock of your room. But no, this was real. You grasped the hand that held yours, grounding yourself as you felt like you were floating in absolute bliss.
He called your name again, so smooth and gentle even in the ripples of sound underwater. You responded this time, having to look away before your heart exploded out of your chest.
“Would you like to see more?”
“Yes.” You replied quickly and breathlessly, nodding your head. Tears fell on your cheeks, ones you didn’t even know had formed in the first place.
Namor saw them and gripped your hand tighter. The gentleness of his eyes spread to his face, a soft genuine smile appeared. Real. No sign or hint of wit or mischief. That tense look he constantly wore was gone, vanished like it had the night he was wounded. But it wasn’t vulnerability that took over, it was something you couldn’t quite place.
A longing inside you grew as you tried to figure it out. It consumed your soul and being as you looked at him. Then it clicked.
Fondness, that was it.
You’d been here no longer than a minute but you knew what you were to see would change every emotion you had towards him. Every sliver of stubbornness and anger melted away with that look he gave, gone never to return. It is so easy for humans to surrender to their emotions, so easily influenced by other memories. At least you can say you tried.
You looked back to the world before you, taking a small leap in the water. Soon after he led you further by the hand, beginning his swim once more.
~~~
There was no excuse you could make up to go back to the life you knew before this. Not a single thought or idea could compare to what he just showed you. Why would you even want to leave after experiencing that? Namor showed you the secrets of his world. How unfair and ungrateful would you have to be to deny what he offered you. It was all you wanted and more, a life in the ocean. To be with the water forever.
You believe that if he had shown you Talokan when you first arrived, if he had been honest about what he wants to protect instead of just saying you need to stay with him, you would have said yes without a second thought.
Your blood sang along with the song of the people you heard down there. That ancient voice that kept you awake for years and years came from Talokan. That was it’s home, you knew this now.
You recalled the city and its heart. That giant ball of light made of vibranium, he had explained to you.
“It brought the sun to my people.”
His people. People who lived and thrived in that ancient and forgotten world. You saw children and adults go about their day. All laughing, smiling, trading goods, or playing sports. It was no different than the land above, they were just like any other society. They had their love, lives, people to protect.
You marveled at it even now, seeing beings with gills and swimming skills that would put those who trained their whole lives to shame.
They greeted you and Namor like old friends, wide grins on each of their faces. They weren’t afraid of you, no. They went up to you, bowing and placing their left wrist upon their right, a salute of some sorts to their king before coming and gently touching your suit. They examined you as you did them, not a hint of malice or disgust in their faces. But rather joy and wonder, you tried to listen to what they told you. Syllables and words you didn't know or understand crowded your ears as when all began to talk at once. You tried your best to keep up, but you only understood the few words Nikté had said to you.
Regardless, they all looked so happy. So free.
In a world where all the rules from that up above never existed you begin to fantasize living there.
As yourself, as the person you always wanted to be. Unbound from the shackles of expectations from family and friends. All that you would get judged for around from those on the surface, your gut told you that they never would down in the ocean below.
But, you had family and friends like they did. You had people who missed you, who worried and cared. What would happen if one of those smiling beings you saw had been in the same situation as you? You’d want them to come back home. Why would you keep them away from everything they’ve known?
It had been a few minutes since you returned to the cave with Namor. You sat at the edge of the rocky floor, feet dipped into the water below. He sat next to you, covered in the cape he had previously worn now acting as a towel.
No words had been exchanged since he had told you it was time to come back. Your mind was still in that city, so was your heart. You kept your eyes closed, burning everything you had seen into your mind. Like the amber which once encased the bones of the past, like the way these people upheld and cherished their undiscovered lives.
You kicked your legs back and forth, the splish splash of the water filling the silence of the cave. You hummed to yourself, that same song Nikté sang earlier.
“I know that melody.” Namor suddenly spoke, voice no louder than a whisper. You turn your head to him, only to see he was already looking at you. He was so close, his shoulders nearly touching your own. His hand almost overlapped your own as well, his pinky looked as if it was reaching for your own.
You give him a smile, “Nikté said it was called K’iino’. That means sun right? Was- Is it about the vibranium sun?” You ask.
He nods, a smile grows on his own face at your words. You nod in return. Silence spread throughout the cave again.
You tensed, body stiff from containing all the questions building inside you. You did your best to not say anything, not wanting to pry at him and his reasoning. But you needed to hear him talk, to feel that warmth his voice brought throughout your body. You needed to know, to know why he showed you such a secret. He told you himself, he could not risk his people being compromised.
“Why did you show me Talokan? I don’t— I would have been fine in the cave you didn’t need to show me. I’m just a human from land. I highly doubt I have the right to be shown such a thing-“ The words you had been holding in finally burst, flowing freely before he cut you off.
“Why do you think I gave you the book?” He says.
You quieted. Why did he give you the book?
You blinked at him, mouth in an O shape as you considered the question. You’ve thought about it of course, but never came to a conclusion. Your mind would mostly drift off when thinking about him, about the girl in the book. You never tried to understand exactly why he gave it to you. You assumed it was for you to simply learn the language, obviously that was not just it.
He saw you pause, his brows furrowed and a troubled look flashed upon his face. He shook his head immediately after, brushing away whatever he had been thinking of. Namor finally looked back into your eyes, a flame burning bright in them as he stared intently.
“You had the right to know. I don’t want you to think that I am keeping you here as a prisoner. I don’t want you to feel like one. You are allowed to do what you like, what you please. I gave you the book so…” He paused, trying to find the right words to say. “If you read the whole thing, I had a feeling you would be able to understand why I am keeping you here. If I showed you Talokan, you’d understand even better. I needed you to see what I have to protect, what I am protecting. And that I could protect you too.”
A wave of emotions was sent over you as he spoke those last few words.
Protect you too.
But what was he protecting you from? You weren’t Talokanil, you had been exposed to the world above. You’d lived in it, you came from it. You were born from the dirt and ash unlike those he called his people. You thought of your own people actually.
How similar the lives of both civilizations live. How a mother or father of someone might go so far as to protect their children. Talokan was his, he was their King. Their God. But you had a mother of your own too, a father. Siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles who you know would worry for you as much as he would for a single one of them.
“What would you do if one of your own people got stolen? If the person who held them locked them away where you have no chance of finding them. what would you do?” You ask.
“I’d tear the world apart to find them.”
“And what is to say my family won’t do the same for me?”
He froze, the burning in his eyes stopped. A cold seized over him as he looked stunned. For just a split second, sadness flashed against those brown orbs and you didn't look away.
He said your name, softly and gently. It almost broke your heart to hear him say it. “You want to leave? After I showed you-“
You cut him off, “No! Never, I could not do that to you. To Nikté, to all those people down there. I would never.” You explain. “I just..I simply ask for a week on the surface every month. On land, I have no doubt people are looking for me. I just— I need to let them know I am safe. That I am cared for. I will not tell them anything about you or what I know. I just don’t want them to think I ran away forever.”
Namor tenses and he backs away from you. The close proximity you once shared now distanced. He sighs heavily, throwing his head back. He’s thinking, the lids of his eyes twitching as he knits his brows.
You bite your lip, fidgeting with your fingers as you anxiously wait for his response. The silence between you two is drawn out, the sound of your mingled breathing filling your ears. You do nothing but look at him, study him.
His jaw is clenched, tight and firm. It was so sharp and pointed. Perfectly complimenting his ears. He really was beautiful.
You considered telling him to forget your offer, that you’d be fine without it and quickly storm back to your room. Until he lifted his head, rolling it around his shoulders as a faint crack came from the tensed area.
He sighs again,”One day.”
“What?”
“One day, every month.”
You stare at him again, seems to be the only thing you can do around him. It took a few seconds for the words to truly process into your mind.
“Five days.” You respond, one day was absolutely nothing.
“One.”
“Four!”
He gave you a long look. Something told you he didn’t want to fight. And neither did you. You huff, glaring at him and slightly pouting.
“Three. Three days.” Namor says, voice gruff and somewhat defeated.
Three days. Three was good, right? Longer than one, shorter than a week. It was enough time for a weekend, a weekend with your family every month. Enough time to feel the real warmth and heat of the sun upon your skin. Enough time to feel the grass and dirt to last you until the next month.
“Fine.” You agree. You open your arms to stretch your own tense muscles. You could still feel the weight of the suit on your shoulders, the way it moved in the water.
A yawn escaped you, eyes suddenly growing heavy as you turn back to Namor. He never stopped looking away from you, that soft look from before was there. So gentle, so sweet.
He looked so happy in his city, with everyone. Though you cannot say you truly know him, a piece inside of you did. And it scared you, just how at ease he made he feel. You thought of today, of what he had shown you and how he looked at you. You could still feel his hand on your cheek. Though only the ghost of it, it was still there. Has it always been there?
“You’re tired.” He says, his voice like a lullaby. Sleep called you, he was its companion. That warmth and comfort he brought you doubled now in your drowsy state.
“Mhmm.” You hum in agreement, nodding as well. Your eyes looked down, upon the expanse of him. His tanned skin, the muscles of his body. Giddy feelings swelled inside you, heat grew in your cheeks as they drifted to his left abdomen.
No wound. No scars.You had forgotten about that, when it was the entire reason he even showed you his home.
“You never told me how you healed so quickly..” You begin, eyes looking back up to him. But the second you did, Namor had begun to move.
He swiftly stood up, leaving you staring at his knees. More strong muscles in your line of vision. You could drool.
“That.. Is a story for another time. You must sleep.” He tells you, reaching his hand out to you.
The golden cuffs on his wrist shone in the soft cave light. Glinting and glimmering, you grabbed it. His rough skin welcomed yours, and it almost burned to touch him.
He pulled, a low grunt leaving your lips as you hauled your tired self up. It still felt like you were in the water., arms and knees growing weak at the sudden weight of gravity. You went at the sudden change of position, steadying yourself by squeezing his hand. He squeezed back.
The action had you burning even hotter, rushing to look back into his eyes. Something, anything to ground yourself. To let you know this was real.
And it was. That look in his eyes didn't change, it didn’t waver not one bit. It made warmth spread across your chest. You wanted to hold onto it a bit longer, to never let go of the hand that held yours. But he did.
His hand left yours, leaving a brush of emptiness against it. You almost felt sad, until you saw it come into your line of vision.
He cupped your face as he had earlier. Your body came back to life at it, every ounce of sleep left as he pressed against you.
You could melt in his hands. Your heart pounded in your ears at the flame of his touch. You wanted to speak, to say something. Anything to not let the moment pass and keep it going. You could stay here forever.
But nothing came out, not even a whisper or gasp left you as you opened your mouth to him. You just stared as you had before.
“Rest.” He tells you. “We will talk tomorrow.”
No. You wanted to say.
Now, I want to talk now. I don’t want to leave , not right now.
But sleep washed over you as he pulled his hand away. You clung onto the remanentes of warmth on your cheek. Your tired to fight the sleep that overtook you, but it was too much. You eyes were closing, you couldn’t even think straight.
So you simply nodded, bowing slightly before sluggishly heading back to your room.
~~~
Nikté pulled each pearl from your hair, combing her long fingers carefully through every strand. She massaged your scalp as you kept your eyes closed. She continued humming her song, you almost fell asleep right there.
She kept going, the melody of her voice slowly send you drifting off in the chair of your room. The bed was so close, you wanted to tell her to leave you. To drift off into the world you saw each time you closed your eyes. But you don’t think you would’ve even have enough strength to lift yourself up. To wrap yourself in the blankets waiting for you.
You just knew you needed to go back, to Talokan and to him. Only in your dreams will you find them, and that was enough for you at that moment.
You couldn’t wait any longer, finally giving into the darkness. Knowing you’d be happy to greet what awaited you, you finally slipped into the unknown. Hoping to dream about the sea. The ocean.
Summary: It seems like it was fate for the Sully family to seek uturu with the Mekayina people of Awa’atlu because if they hadn’t, Jake and Neytiri would never have found their Omega.
Note: Hey everyone. This is a request made by @thatonepansexual2000 (happy belated birthday!!!) and it turned out to be a really, really long story (11,525 words to be exact). So, if you really only want to skip down to the smut, scroll until you see where it’s boldly indicated. This is also the first story I tried adding a couple of photos throughout so let me know if it helped or hindered, please?
On a completely different tangent, first, I’m taking on an idea about Omegas that I saw on TikTok (here is the LINK to see the video if you’re curious) about omegas having at least one or more defensive traits against aggressive Alphas which I will reveal in this story. Second, I will be having Jake and Neytiri speaking in English words here and there throughout the story but since the Metkayina don’t understand any other language but their own, I’ll be labeling any and all spoke English tawtute words and phrases with a ~ on either end ~.
Na’vi Translation: ● Eywa’eveng – Pandora (moon around Polyphemus) ● Makto – ride | to ride, often used in conjunction with an animal (i.e. Toruk Makto as rider of Toruk) ● Oel ngati tse’a – “I see you” (physically) ● Paska’sngap — (NON-CANON / of my own creation) exact translation would be ‘honey sting’, a type of large bee that makes very sweet honeycomb ● Paysyul – water lily | inrigo lilliam ● Sa’nok – mother ● Sempul – father ● Skxawng – moron | idiot ● Tsaheylu – neural bond made through the connection of two neural queues ● Tsahìk – the spiritual leader of a Na’vi clan, and the most important member next to the clan leader ● Tsmuke – sister ● Uturu – sanctuary | place of refuge ● Vrrtep – demon (used in degradation towards Avatar drivers and Recombinants)
Toruk Makto.
Even the smallest and most remote of the Metkayinan clans knew the tales of the mighty warriors brave enough – or in your parents’ opinion, stupid enough – to make Tsaheylu with the impressive and gargantuan creature known as Toruk so of course Awa’atlu did too. You had been young, only a mere eight Eywa’eveng cycles old when the sixth Toruk Makto, a vrrtep by the name of Tsyeyk Suli, a tawtute said to be from a faraway star had taken up the mantle and brought together many clans to bring peace back to the world after the beings known as the RDA had begun to destroy the forests – just for a rock of all things! And from then on, you had grown up hearing the stories of his battle prowess, coming to admire the man and his mate from everything you had ever heard. And now, just over fifteen Eywa’eveng cycles later, the sixth Toruk Makto was poised tall and broad upon the beach of your village as only a forest Na’vi could, his mate and his children surrounding him with their colorful ikran standing guard, seeking uturu.
He was here! In person! His mate too!
Your younger self would be giggling in utter joy.
You carefully wove your way to the front of the gathering crowd of your village and watched in silent awe as the sapphire blue skinned forest Na’vi cautiously stepped forward on the white sands, Jake’s hands raised in supplication.
All six of the Suli family members were beautiful, in their strange forest way, all lean limbs and thin tails with their long black hair left down and loose in many tiny braids decorated with colorful beads and feathers and things. Their attire, though intricately woven, would be terrible in the water. Ao’nung and Rotxo pushed passed you, approaching closer to the newcomers and while the two male children extended the formal courtesy, your Olo’eyktan’s only son did not, sneering at the darker skinned boys. Even Rotxo played into his best friend’s arrogance teasing them about their whip-like tails only to be berated by Tsireya, Ao’nung’s younger sister.
You smirked to yourself.
Finally, your Olo’eyktan – Tonowari – made his appearance, coming in low overhead on his tsurak in a grand display and was standing tall after he dismounted the angry creature. The proud Na’vi strode forward confidently in his brightly colored clothing, a piece you had been commissioned to create by his mate. Speaking of, you turned when you felt a soft touch at your elbow and bowed your head in respect, stepping back from your Tsahìk to allow the woman to pass and pass judgement on the newcomers, also wearing one of your commissioned pieces around her neck and covering much of her upper chest. It was some of your best work, if you said so yourself.
For a long moment, you feared the Sully’s would not be allowed to stay, especially when Neytiri and Ronal hissed at each other but Jake pleaded for a chance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You held your breath and watched avidly at the silent conversation between the mated pair that were your leaders, offering a silent prayer to Eywa that the Tsahìk would be merciful for once in her life as she was known to be cold and unbending. Finally, Ronal’s slump of her shoulders revealed her reluctant submission to her mate. You released your breath in a whoosh and flinched when the older woman raised a brow your way. Tonowari turned around and announced aloud for all to hear, “Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea so they will be like babies taking their first breath. Teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless.”
“I give them a week,” whispered harshly into your ear.
You turned and scowled, smacking your older brother’s tattooed side with the back of your hand. “It has been decided, Koa,” you hissed quietly. “Respect your Olo’eyktan and your Tsahìk’s decision.” He rolled his bright blue eyes and swung his thick tail around, lightly smacking the backs of your calves. You hissed at him and shoved him in the chest, watching him laugh in response. The Sully family passed you by right then and you glanced up, meeting a pair of honey yellow eyes and blushed at the curiosity sparkling back at you from the dark-skinned matriarch you were aware of for her bravery and archery expertise. You bowed your head and offered the respectful greeting, murmuring shyly, “Oel ngati tse’a.” The corner of her mouth quirked up and she bowed her head in response but moved on quickly to keep up with the rest of her family.
You colored to yourself, your inner child squealing with glee.
The next time you saw one of the Sully’s was the following morning as you made your way down the beach with a small basket of fibrous strings, shell pieces, sea glass, and unpolished pearls balanced upon your hip, heading to the marui pod you preferred to work out of on more clothing pieces you had been commissioned to create for others. That was when you noticed Toruk Makto heading down to the water behind Tonowari, your older brother and another warrior and couldn’t help but rake your gaze over his beautiful sapphire body so different from any of the men you had ever known growing up. “ ‘Ey, ma’tsmuke,” Koa called in greeting as you slowly approached the group, raising an arm and tugging you into a half hug while you respectfully greeted the other three men, bringing two of your fingers from your forehead downward. Your brother added on, “ ‘Ey, I need you to tell our sa’nok and our sempuls my mate and I wish to host supper tonight for everyone. Pua and I have news.” You twitched a wide smile in acknowledgement of his request revealing your teeth for a moment, blushing and ducking your head slightly when you saw The handsome Jake Sully looking your way.
“Oh, you have two sets of upper fangs?” Toruk Makto suddenly asked when he saw your brief smile.
Tumblr media
All three of the men born of your clan froze, surprised at his abrupt and, technically, abrasively insensitive question that was not considered polite to ask of strangers. Your Olo’eyktan answered him, broad teal shoulders rolling back to appear even bigger in an instinctual show of Alpha protectiveness of his clan member while your sibling surreptitiously eased his body in front of yours, his own impulses to keep his little tsmuke safe from possibly being attacked kicking in, just in case, despite your natural ability to secrete neurotoxins from your throat and pelvic sweat glands should you ever feel threatened. “It is because she is of Omega designation, Tsyeyk Suli,” Tonowari replied, having scented that the forest Na’vi was actually Alpha in nature. The taller male added, “Do the Omatikaya People not have them that you ask such things?”
Jake blushed and ducked his head slightly in embarrassment of his ignorance, replying, “Ah, yes, I apologize. Tawtutes don’t have designations at all and the Omega births have always been rare for the Omatikaya, usually only between one to three every sixty cycles, according to the Tsahìk.”
You flushed, murmuring shyly, “Omegas make up almost a third of Awa’atlu.” You saw Jake’s attention come back upon you and colored once more, your blue gaze sweeping over the handsome older male, your paddle-like tail twitching in interest. You could feel your brother take notice of your shy curiosity of the newcomer followed by the heat of his stare into the side of your face. You elbowed your sibling in the side to get him to stop being obvious only to realize golden eyes were taking in every single inch of you. Feeling self-conscious suddenly, you whispered, “I’ll leave you to your lessons, Toruk Makto. Have a good day.”
“Oh, just ‘Jake’ is just fine, ~sweetheart~,” he corrected you with a grin, that last word spoken in English and leaving you feeling confused as you did not understand. “See you later, maybe?”
You nodded awkwardly, ducking out from behind your brother as the four men made their way into the water, you watching after them and swallowing hard as you took in the broad shoulders and sculpted muscles of the darker skinned male, his scent blowing back towards you with a sudden breeze and making your pupils dilate and release a quiet whimper from the back of your throat. Awa’atlu had an almost even number of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas at any given time and while your instincts enjoyed the scent of certain Alphas in your village, none of them had ever appealed to you like Jake’s was doing right now. A shudder ran down your spine and a slight heat settled in your lower belly. You shook your head as if to dispel the way your body was reacting and hurried down the beach to start working for the day. And this is where you saw Jake’s mate attempting to learn to ride an ilu only to, unfortunately, get thrown off and release a curse as she surfaced. Further out in the water, you could see your Tsahìk upon her mount shake her head, probably roll her eyes too while she was at it, if you had to guess. You felt a slight wave of pity for the foreign woman but continued on your way, not knowing how assist.
Getting to your work marui, you ducked through the curtains and lowered your basket to the woven floor, greeting your older sister warmly. “Koa told me he and Pua have news,” you told her. “Did he tell you anything, Le’anu?”
Le’anu grinned and her tail thumped upon the mat beneath her, replying, “Just expect to hand sa’nok a cloth when she starts crying.” You smiled as your tsmuke added, “I bet Pua is pregnant.” You squealed in excitement for your brother but reminded yourself you had work to do and turned to the half-finished project waiting for you. You opened your curtain doors to let the bright morning light inside and got started, sitting beside your older sibling.
The two of you worked hard on your craft side-by-side as you were both gifted in the art of decorative weaving, creating clothing and jewelry for others throughout the day, mending pieces and stocking up on bits and bobs and all such materials you would need. You only took a break when Tsireya brought the Sully children around and stopped to poke her head inside to say a brief hello. “Oh, that is so beautiful,” the pretty pre-teen gushed, taking in the skirt you were creating. Turning to the foreigners, she added, “These two are our best weavers in the whole village. They often get commissioned to craft all sorts of pieces. She made my sempul’s cape at behest of my sa’nok. She also designed Ao’nung’s dagger sheath.”
“That was Le’anu,” you objected softly, not noticing the Sully matriarch slipping in behind her children, taking a break from Ronal. “She is better at leather than I am.”
Your older sister saw the youngest Sully inspecting some of the beads in the basket closest to her and added, “During the stormy seasons, lightning is known to strike up and down upon Awa’atlu’s beaches, sometimes multiple times and it creates these; we call them sea glass. If we also have the foresight to create dye and throw it all over the sand beforehand the storm hits, it can change the sea glass’ color, which is why there are so many variations. We don’t always get all of the glass during the season so sometimes our divers will find random pieces throughout the long cycle along with the shells and pearls and coral bits you see in the baskets around you and in the clothing we design.”
A wave of Alpha pheromones suddenly washed over you and you stiffened, a shudder moving down your spine.
Looking up, your mouth went dry as your blue eyes met honey yellow. “Your work is quite exquisite,” Neytiri commented, indicating the garment in your lap.
Tumblr media
You flushed, whispering, “Thank you.” You looked over her choices of clothing and your brow twitched as you realized both her chest covering and her tewng would be perfect for her home habitat , they would be terrible in the water. Biting your lip, you set the skirt aside and grabbed your measuring rope. Meeting the curious eyes of the Sully matriarch, you asked, “May I take your dimensions … please?” Neytiri’s ears flicked forward before flicking back, her tail flicking as you noticed a tinge of sadness in her gaze. Still, she considered your softly spoken request before slowly nodding as she realized you would be coming closer to her. She watched you avidly as you rolled up onto your feet nimbly and stepped towards her, timidly guiding her as you needed. Your tsmuke, seeing what you were doing, grabbed a spare cloth and an ink pot and began to make markings upon the cloth with a bone quill. With another gulp to steady your nerves, you carefully wrapped your knotted measuring rope around her hips just above where her sea-soaked tewng sat and another wave of pheromones floated up your nose as you caught Neytiri’s natural aroma; what you didn’t notice, with your eyes lowered to the task at hand, was that she was scenting you right back. Until you realized she was leaning towards you.
You shyly met Neytiri’s gaze, seeing her own eyes narrowed in on you with exact precision. If it had been anyone else, your sweat glands may have started to itch in preparation for defense. Under the beautiful matriarch’s scrutiny with her lovely smell wafting off of her skin, however, it had you feeling a warm tingle pooling low in your belly, which she responded to with a welcoming purr.
Right in front of her own children scattered around the marui as well.
“Nineteen knots,” you told your sister, hearing her scribble the symbol on her writing cloth. Your limbs trembled as you moved the measuring rope from around her hips to her torso just beneath her breasts so you could make her a decent chest wrap as well as a Metkayina-style tewng to allow her better movement within the water. “Seventeen knots.”
You took a few more dimensions and your tsmuke wrote them down and were finally finished with her.
“Me next, me next, please,” the littlest Sully child cried happily, taking her hand out of one of the baskets of seashells she had been readily picking through. In her enthusiasm, she nearly knocked the hamper over in her haste to get up to be measured for her own new set of clothing. Luckily, the oldest Sully teen lurched forward and caught it before it tipped completely over, apologizing to your older sister for his sibling’s antics. The littlest girl bounced to her four toed feet and pushed herself against her sa’nok’s hip, smiling brightly up at you. You couldn’t help the pleased grin that spread across your turquoise lips at her cheerful eagerness and her glowing excitement. Neytiri stepped back with a look of satisfaction as you continued with your more welcoming air, so unlike most of the rest of your clan, and performed the same measurement movements on her youngest.
You looked at the three darker skinned teenagers in question of who wanted to go next and Kiri surprised her mother by pushing herself to her feet with a roll of her eyes and heading towards you first. She had assumed Neteyam would be the one to lead the charge as he always was. The older woman could tell that her teenage daughter was nervous but you smiled at her and asked if you could take her measurements like you had on the matriarch and the youngest of her family.
“Your work is impressive,” Kiri agreed, holding out her arms so you could wrap the knotted rope around her hips, looking over your own outfit as you measured her for a new one.
You flushed and thanked her, adding quietly, “I could teach you how to do the same weaving techniques for yourself, if you’d like.” Neytiri felt relieved seeing her daughter’s eyes light up at your friendly proposal and agreed with a small smile and a nod. Her heart felt like it was warming to you when you didn’t even bat an eye when you spotted the extra finger or the hairy brows upon the teenage girl. Nor did you react negatively to Lo’ak, treating him a little more reservedly than Kiri but still smiling slightly and speaking quietly to him. What surprised Neytiri for a moment was that you were even more timid when you finally got around to taking the dimensions of her firstborn son, not quite meeting his gaze and being careful not to touch him too much. Until she noticed you surreptitiously scenting the air around him as you took his dimensions and she realized after a moment that you were a touch skittish not because he was an outsider but because Neteyam was coming into his Alpha designation. Then you looked up at Neytiri and blushed before looking away. “It will be… not quite a fortnight before we can complete a set of clothing for your family on top of all our other work,” Le’anu told the matriarch when you drew away from Lo’ak. “We will have Tsireya bring you around here after everything is completed so we can make sure everything fits and is to your liking. We will also need to measure your mate as well.” Neytiri nodded and the six of them finally moved out of the marui after the sapphire skinned woman promised to bring Jake around later that day. She heard, “I have never seen you so loquacious before, tsmuke. Look at you, coming out of your shell for the newcomers,” and smiled to herself.
Same Day – Later
Neytiri was already in her new marui later that afternoon, looking around the pod that was both similar and contradictory to the kelkus she had grown up in and then made with her mate and her children back in the forests she had abandoned to keep her family together and safe because of the vrrtep being brought back from the dead to plague her precious world once more. The weaving was similar but of a slightly different material than she was used to. And the sounds of the waves crashing upon the beaches had been more distracting than her youngest son’s obnoxious snoring and had left her sleep feeling unfulfilling. Thinking of her children… Her children were still out with Tsireya and Ao’nung, having gone back to their lessons after their fittings but Ronal had ended her’s a little earlier, a frustrated scowl upon her turquoise face at Neytiri’s lack of progress. The sapphire-skinned woman hoped Tonowari would do the same for her mate so that she could talk to her beloved – about you. From the stories her own sa’nok had woven about Omegas when she had been a childling and from what she had heard about the Metkayina and what she had observed personally today, it appeared that the practice of triads was something just as openly practiced across Eywa’eveng whenever an Omega was involved.
And as both she and her mate were of Alpha designation…
When she and Jake had first gotten together, nearly sixteen Eywa’eveng cycles prior, Neytiri had had to explain the difference between the secondary designations, trying her best to educate her mate on everything he needed to know, getting more and more frustrated by his endless questions until she had foisted him off onto her mother. She was lucky that Mo’at had a way of clarifying things of that delicate nature so that Jake actually understood a little better than he had from his wife. Her sa’nok had then warned both Neytiri and Jake that with two Alphas entering into a mated relationship, they could have a rough time of it, both having dominant traits within their natures, especially during their ruts. This had led to Jake’s and Neytiri’s private discussions about what should happen between them if they were ever to meet an Omega that called to either of them. At first, Jake had been adamant that he would want no other woman save his mate, and while that stroked Neytiri’s ego to no end (take that Ninat – who just so happened to be an Omega), Neytiri had no such delusions of not wanting or needing an Omega if one called to her instincts, having already gone through her first rut before ever meeting Jake and having felt the instinctual need to find, claim, and breed an Omega. Her beloved mate had, reluctantly, changed his mind once he had gone through the five days of nearly unbearable need of his rut.
Lo’ak had been born shortly thereafter.
And your scent had called to Neytiri fiercely. She wanted you. Badly.
“~Ugh, what a fucking day…~” came a familiar growl in English. Neytiri looked up eagerly, her pointed ears swiveling forward and her thin tail twitching in anticipation of both being reunited with her mate after such a stress-filled afternoon and the impending conversation she wanted to have about you.
Jake appeared at the front flap of the marui, gingerly holding his hands in front of him, a foul-smelling paste stinging her nose from where it lifted from his friction burned palms. Trying not to sneeze, Neytiri asked in her mother tongue, “Are you well Ma’Jake?”
“So much for me being Tsurak Makto,” he replied, showing off his new wounds from being thrown off the irritable creature again and again and again with no success – not today at least. He huffed and plopped himself down beside his mate, pulling her into his arms as he asked, switching to English halfway through, “How much better luck did you have, ~baby? You’re always such a natural, I’m sure you did loads better than me~.” Neytiri huffed and her tail flicked in irritation as she scented her mate and smelled nothing but the sting of salty seawater and tsurak – so unlike the smells of the forests of Pandora. It was also nothing like the wonderful aroma of unclaimed Omega, which reminded her of earlier and had her spine straightening and her poor mood lifting briefly. He immediately noticed; “~What’s up, baby~?”
The forest woman grinned slightly and admitted, “I met an Omega today. A shy little thing but pretty and welcoming.”
This piqued Jake’s attention, his ears pivoting forward as the memory of briefly meeting you on the beach this morning, swam through his mind’s eye. “Oh, really?”
Could it have been the same one he met?
Neytiri nodded, her wooden beads within her multitude of braids clicking together quietly with the movement. She added, “She is a highly sought after artisan of the clan because her weaving is lovely. She took our measurements – the children’s and mine – today to fit us with clothing better suited to the water,” here her smile dipped touching her tweng that she had had crafted back in her home village and one of the few reminders she had of where she came from, suited for climbing trees and riding her beloved ikran. Jake kissed her forehead, sensing his mate’s homesickness and silently urging her to continue her thought. After a long moment, Neytiri continued with, “She was also more welcoming than any of this tribe that I have met so far. Even more so than your Tonowari.” Jake blushed a little at his wife calling out his adoration for the island Na’vi. “And, oh, she was so sweet smelling, Ma’Jake. I purred.”
Jake felt himself sigh in relieved happiness at that.
He so wanted this to work, to not have any of them be seen as an outcast or outsider as he had been when Mo’at had first given him the probationary status to learn the ways of the Omatikaya. If his children could learn to adapt to their new environment – if he and Neytiri could as well – then perhaps they could be safer than they had been in the forests.
And with an unmated Omega calling to their senses?
“I met an Omega today, too,” Jake announced quietly, hugging his wife into his chest and kissing her forehead once again. “I wonder if it was the same as yours.” She hummed and tucked herself more into her mate’s side, humming. “Apparently Omegas make up almost a third of Awa’atlu but this one… her scent…” Looking at his wife, he added, “I… I really just want this to work, ~baby. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. By any means necessary.~”
Neytiri sighed, her honey amber eyes welling with tears slightly as she ran her three fingers over her tewng. She did not want to give up her ties to her home, had not wanted to leave the only thing she ever knew but they were here now, in Awa’atlu.
And so were you.
Neytiri shook off her homesickness and considered her mate’s words for a long moment and then sat up slowly, regarding her husband carefully, an idea forming in her mind. She spoke plainly to him, “You wish… to fit, yes?” When her husband nodded, his golden gaze turning curious, instead of answering his unasked question, she pushed herself up onto her feet and regarded her clothing once more. “We need to get your measurements as well,” she commented, her facial features showing both her pain and her hope making a bittersweet combo that cut Jake deep for a moment. “Shall we see if my little Omega is available?” the Sully matriarch asked. “And if she is the same one you met?” Curious as to the plan he saw forming within his other half, Jake lumbered upright with a weary groan, stretching his arms above his head and grinning as she leered at him before following her out of their new kelku and through the village. Jake took in everything around him as he followed his mate to the marui where an Omega was finishing working on a weaving project.
“Oh, you have returned,” you spoke up, your voice as soft and inviting as it had been this morning, paired with a shy smile once you noticed Neytiri hesitating within the doorway of the marui, her amber eyes taking in the fact that you were alone this time. “Ah, I am sorry but my tsmuke and I have not yet started on your family’s clothing.”
The sapphire skinned woman stepped inside with a growing smirk. “You have one more set of measurements to take,” she reminded you and stepped aside to allow Jake’s large body to follow her inside. And because the two Alphas were watching your reactions closely, they watched your ears twitch forward as your pretty, blue eyes took in the one known as Toruk Makto, your turquoise cheeks darkening in a flush before your gaze quickly dropped, sweeping over his muscles before flicking back to Neytiri and doing the same to her.
Jake’s nose flared as he scented you and then he looked at his wife over the top of your head, his pupils dilating.
Neytiri grinned to herself.
Perhaps… moving here wouldn’t be so bad after all.
“May I take your measurements, ‘Just Jake’?” you asked softly, having grabbed the knotted rope you had used upon the rest of the Sullys that morning. He barked out a laugh at your quiet tease of his own words from that morning, and spread his arms in invitation, watching you tentatively step towards him, your turquoise cheeks darkened in a slight flush. You swallowed as you had to wrap your arms around him in order to find out his hips were twenty-one knots around.
Instead of feeling jealous of you, like she had when she had seen Ninat flirting with Jake oh so long ago, seeing you close to her mate was, surprisingly, intriguing.
Was it because you were an Omega?
Or was it because you seemed to be interested in both her mate and herself?
You dropped the rope and stepped back, smiling shyly up at Jake. “I told your wife, my sister and I should be able to get new clothing ready for you all, hopefully in less than a fortnight,” you murmured. “We will have other minor projects to attend to during that time, mending’s and the like.”
Jake nodded, “Do you need anything from us?”
Oh… not many had asked you that.
“If you prefer certain colors, that would be helpful,” you replied. “That way, you and your family like what my tsmuke and I create.” He grinned and watched you take out the cloth patch with the symbols from earlier, adding Jake’s dimensions to the list. Neytiri came up beside you and assisted her mate with the best color choices each member of her family preferred. You smiled and used different colors next to each set of measurements and thanked them with grins.
“I apologize but I have to go now,” you announced regretfully. “Koa, my brother and his mate, Pua, are hosting dinner for the family tonight to share news and I have to collect my parents.” You grinned to yourself, realizing your sister had been correct earlier. You usually weren’t this talkative with people you either didn’t know well or weren’t comfortable with, especially unknown Alphas, often coming off as very quiet and withdrawn. But with Neytiri and Jake… you felt surprisingly comfortable with them even though you didn’t actually know them well. You were surprisingly eager to change that fact.
Jake and Neytiri grinned and nodded. The male spoke up, suggesting, “Perhaps we could see you tomorrow, ~sweetheart~? Just to hear your family’s news, perhaps?”
You nodded, flushing at the repeated English nickname but not hating it in the least. “I would… I would like that,” you agreed. “Have a good night, Sullys.”
As Jake and Neytiri walked away after waving goodbye to you, she turned to her husband, whispering in English, “~I like her, Ma’Jake. Shall we build our relationship with her as we did ours?~” He grinned in agreement.
You found yourself seeking out the two oldest Sullys the next day with the news that your brother’s mate did indeed confirm she was pregnant. You were so absolutely excited to become an aunt to the first new baby of the family, to which they offered their congratulations to be passed onto Pua. After that, almost every day you found yourself in their company at one point or another because they sought you out or you inadvertently found yourself taking a path leading to where you had heard or knew one or both of them were said to be. You found yourself looking forward to spending time with one or both of them, either by teaching them your cultural differences from their Omatikyan ways or having them assist you in gathering materials to hone your craft. You refused to let them see what you were designing for them, though, as you wanted it to be a surprise.
You really hoped Neytiri especially liked what you were designing for her.
The day you and your tsmuke finished crafting the Sully family’s two new sets of clothing each, you were excited and nervous for their reactions – especially Neytiri’s as she seemed to be having the hardest time adapting to her new life here in Awu’atlu and you wanted her to have a piece of home even with her new finery. Lo’ak had surprised you by teaching you and your sister on how to doing a tawtute fistbump after he verbally thanked you for all your hard work the two of you did for them to make them clothing that would be better suited to their new life. You still didn’t see the point of it but you were glad he was pleased to share in some of his cultural nuances.
Distributing the tewngs and chest coverings, you watched carefully for Neytiri’s reaction closely. Her honey yellow eyes widened within her beautiful sapphire face and her jaw slackened as she looked at all of the different chest coverings you had formed for her, noting the floral designs you’d woven specifically for her.
“This is wonderful, paysyul,” she murmured, making her own nickname for you and surreptitiously wiping at her eyes, a huge smile upon her lips, hugging her new clothing to her chest. “I will wear these proudly.”
“What do we say, kids?” Jake prompted his children, admiring his own creations with a grin.
The four young sapphire-skinned Na’vi all chorused happily, “Thank you!” Tuk even hopped into your lap to hug you tightly, gushing about how pretty you and Le’anu had made her outfits and requesting that you teach her how to weave her own clothing just like you had done.
If it was possible, you spent even more time with the Sullys after that, not just with Neytiri and Jake, though you enjoyed their company very much, the matriarch showing off what you had created for her while still learning to adapt to the ways of water. She seemed to be more receptive to your guidance and so you often spent your evenings in the Sully mauri, helping her prepare dinner and entertaining the children with stories you had grown up with. Lo’ak, and Tuk shortly thereafter, had started to call you “~mom~” in English, though the boy’s tone was a bit more teasing than the seven-year-old’s was, but since you didn’t understand the tawtute language anyway, you weren’t sure what it meant. It didn’t help that everyone refused to translate, the adults and teenagers sharing secretive smiles amongst themselves.
It wasn’t long before your siblings, especially your tsmuke Le’anu, noticed as you seemed to blossom further out of your shell, the more time you spent with the mated Alpha pair and their brood, so much so your own parents caught wind of your growing feelings for the Sullys.
Jake and Neytiri were within their marui by themselves, escaping the rain that was pouring down from the sky when three adult Na’vi approached, pausing upon the bouncy walkway – one woman and two men. The mated pair looked at each other and then greeted the newcomers, bidding them enter their kelku to escape the weather, which was accepted gratefully. The woman was the shortest of the three and the most heavily tattooed, standing at barely the males’ shoulders, black ink decorating her face, her arms all the way down to the backs of her fingertips, and up her sternum, her hair pulled back but left down to curl over her clavicles and shoulder blades. The male on the left was leaner compared to most Metkayina men with tattoos on his chest, his ribs, his hips, and around his ankles, his hair twisted into a tail at the back of his head so his curls remained off his shoulders. The male on the right was tattooed over his chest and down one arm only while he had the sides of his head shaved, his long hair over the middle of his scalp braided back and tied up into a bun. Together, they were an imposing sight but upon scenting the air, Jake and Neytiri realized they were an Alpha, Beta, Omega trio that smelled similarly to you.
Your parents.
“What can we help you with?” Jake asked, pulling the stone kettle carefully from the fire and serving his guests Omatikayan tea.
The male on the right spoke first, not touching the drink, his voice deep and commanding, “My name is Ka’nün, my mates La’xsi,” the female nodded in greeting, “and Ro’nho.” The male with his hair pulled back in a tail grinned and waved a little, a little more welcomingly and the Sully pair could see that he was your biological sempul in the same blue color of his eyes and the way his mouth curled in the same way yours did. “We have heard you two are interested in our younger daughter. We have come to ask of you… is this true? And if so, have you been taught the proper way to court a Metkayina Omega?”
Ah, straight and to the point then…
At the shared look Jake and Neytiri shared, the three turquoise skinned adults all collectively sighed and leaned forward, prepared to teach these newcomers the proper way to court you. Although Ka’nün and La’xsi both thought that all Toruk Maktos were reckless and possibly foolish, they were also impressed with their bravery (borderline stupidity) and if he and his mate were interested in you, they were going to do it right, damn it. So, the two eldest Sully’s learned how to initiate the proper ritual to officially proclaim interest in courting a Metkayina female going into detail about what exactly needed to be done and the significance behind each detail.
Over the next week, together, Jake and Neytiri gathered a large number of thick fronds from deeper inside the island and wove it into a basket large and sturdy enough to fill with food to feed at least six Na’vi. Then, they had to catch, gather, kill, and prepare a meal for their intended Omega to prove they would make excellent providers. Once the meal was ready, the two of them would need to present it to the intended party’s parents for inspection. If they approved, it would then be presented to you for approval and the more elaborate the meal, the more serious the proposal to court with intention of mating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the thing the two of them were most determined to get for you was honey from a Paska’sngap hive as it was the ultimate courting gesture.
Honey from a Paska’sngap hive was difficult to come by as the bees — which were half the size of an adult Na’vi’s skull — were harmless by themselves and usually didn’t attack unless it felt threatened. An individual bee could sting up to three times before it died and each sting would release a bit of toxin which would take about a day or two to recover from after their stingers were removed from your skin. And typically, a Na’vi could survive a handful of stings but multiple stings from a dozen or more Paska’sngap’s could result in enough toxin in their bloodstream to act as a paralytic so that bigger creatures could be able to eat the helpless Na’vi. Even more stings than that – say, if the whole hive stung you – that much toxin could stop your heart. Foraging for honeycombs was usually a test of endurance, skill and speed as the bees could swarm in defense of their home and easily overpower any being.
It was worth it if it was for you.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending on how you looked at it… fate had other plans the day they were finally ready to officially propose courting you.
You had woken that morning feeling warmer than normal, a tingle running throughout your limbs that happened once every four lunar cycles or so and you should have known it was coming if you hadn’t been so distracted by the pair known as the Sully parents as you learned about them and taught them your ways. As you were unmated, you still lived with your parents so when you and they all realized what you were starting to go through, your Omega sempul had scooped you up and had taken you to one of the huts in the deeper parts of your island home designated for unmated Na’vi, your Alpha sa’nok bringing your sleeping mat and blankets so you could build your nest and your Beta father making sure you had baskets of fruit and dried meats and several water skins. Your Omega sempul carefully laid you down on your bedding once it was arranged. The heat was increasing within you, a particularly sharp shoot of pain causing you to gasp and curl up tightly on top of your soft coverlets. Your mother wanted to help you, to soothe you in your time of need but her Alpha pheromones were playing havoc with your senses, so she and your other father retreated, leaving you with Ro’hno who gently took your hair and braided it up and away from your face, purring as soothingly as he could.
“You’ll be alright, little one,” he murmured, taking one of the waterskins and bringing it to your lips. “In a few days, this’ll be over. We have food for you, water, your blankets and bedding. I can come back tomorrow to check on you.” You nodded, your body wracking with need and causing both a tight discomfort and heat to pool low in your belly, sweat forming on your back and an throbbing building in the base of your spine.
Your sempul retreated from the marui then and you settled into your nest, moving it as you see fit, shimmying your body over every piece your sa’nok touched and replacing her scent with yours, trying to ignore the achiness in your limbs and the slight pulsing of your cunt which would only get worse when you started playing with yourself. Your instincts craved for a partner – or two, your mind supplied, thinking of two sapphire-skinned Na’vi in particular – to fill you with their cock. The substitution of your fingers wouldn’t really ever minimize the yearning, no matter how many times you brought yourself release during your previous heats, your slick pooling beneath your body again and again and again. As it did every time before, the warmness built up further within you and you struggled to removed your chest covering, fingers fumbling to undo the knots at the back of your neck and down one of your sides before doing the same to your tewng, casting both aside, before you struggled to remove your necklace, belly chain and bracelet too, the weight of the materials on your skin too much to bear.
Panting from exhaustion, you let yourself relax in your nest and let your mind wander, bringing one of your hands lazily to your breast and shivering at the pleasure that shot through you. Your cunt fluttered with your body’s compulsions to breed, trying to cling to something, anything, as more slick dribbled out of you.
You sighed in submission and gave in. You caressed your other hand slowly down your turquoise belly towards your needy cunt, your eyes rolling in your head as satisfaction raced through your body.
Elsewhere, Jake had loaded up most of the food and stepped out of the way to allow his wife to do the finishing touches, wondering if his dreads needed touching up before he went to you, a slight surge of vanity and self-consciousness having him flexing in the mirror and touching the slightest curve of his tummy. “Ma’Jake… do you… do you think she will reject us?” Neytiri asked softly, referring to you, as she finished packing the basket with a bowl of your favorite fruit and the jar of hard-earned honey, slowly looking up at her mate, her nervousness showing in the flicking of her tail and the droop of her pointed ears.
The large male immediately turned away from the mirror and reached out to the love of his life, tucking his fingers beneath her narrow chin, making her large honey yellow eyes meet his golden gaze. He replied just as quietly, “I would like to think she would not reject us, Tiri. She seems to enjoy spending time with us most days, even if it is putting up with my ~bull shit~.” This caused Neytiri to crack a slight smile. He continued, saying, “However, we will know for certain her reaction after we present her with this as a united front. Have a strong heart for me, ~baby. We got this. Yeah?~.” She nodded and they pressed their foreheads together, breathing in each other’s scents and steadying their nerves.
Taking their basket to the marui you lived in with your parents and unmated older sister, your father – Ro’nho – met you at the entrance with a grimace.
“Eywa… apparently… has had different plans for my youngest daughter today,” he announced, meeting their gazes solemnly. “She’s been moved to a special marui our unmated sometimes retreat to at the edge of our village when their heats and ruts hit.” The mated pair shared a look at this surprising news and the extraordinary timing. His blue eyes, so like yours, took in the basket they had slaved over creating for your courting gift and smiled. Lifting his eyes, he added, “I am pleased it was you two. She’s blossomed more in the last three months than in the last twenty-three Eywa’eveng cycles of her life. I have never seen her so happy except when she is with you both and your children. Come, follow me.” He led the two Alphas away from the marui and down the walkway, guiding them into the island where you were apparently located. Finally, Ro’nho stopped once they were deep within the heart of the island and pointed. “She’s there so this is where I leave you both. Good luck.”
The area the Sully duo found themselves in was simply beautiful, lush and colorful with a multitude of trees and flowers and a couple of waterfalls off to the side roaring over a rounded cliff into a crystal-clear pond that wound down into a small river that the two of them could easily step over with their towering height. Beside the picturesque view near the bank was a spacious marui off to the side built amongst the giant mangrove-like roots of the trees and elevated off the ground, much like the ones the Omatikaya were known for. Neytiri grinned, excited to get in there, not only to explore but she could smell your scent wafting in the air.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ro’nho wandered away, his heart thumping in his chest and wondering if he had done the right thing by allowing The Toruk Makto and his mate access to his only biological daughter, during your heat. It wasn’t your first one by any means but the first one you would at least have partners to ease the pain. You might even come out of this with two mates and a baby on the way. He smiled to himself and kept walking, leaving Jake and Neytiri with you.
The mated pair looked at each other, your potent scent beginning to fill their lungs, your muffles noises now beginning to tickle their ears above the roar of the waterfalls, and their courting gift hanging between them. At least they were coming prepared.
“Are you ready for this, ~baby~?” Jake asked his wife.
Neytiri nodded and stepped forward first, grinning and eager, dragging Jake along with her and approached the marui, your scent and your moans getting louder the closer they got to you.
Inside, your thumb circled your clit as your fingers worked tirelessly within your warm wetness, your pleasure coiling tighter and tighter within your belly. Only for something sweet and floral paired with the scent of wood and fresh earth tinged with the smell of the rain on the wind to drift into your nose. Then another scent joined the first, something smoky paired with something you remember Jake having describes as metal and gunpowder and tinged with the smell of something musky.
Alpha scents.
Both of them – ones you knew well.
You whimpered and your ears swiveled forward as you heard them approach, your turquoise knees subconsciously spreading slightly, eagerly, the closer they got. They were here! During your heat!. You lifted heavy eye lids and focused upon two sapphire skinned bodies as the marui curtain was pulled back and they stepped into the marui, a large, freshly woven basket held aloft between them. They both instantly sucked in a sharp breath as his and his wife’s eyes dilated at the seductive scene you made, all loose teal limps spread out in your nest gleaming with sweat, your wide paddle-like tail off to the side and twitching in interest, your breasts heaving, and hairless cunt glistening with slick. Their scents washed over you and you whined, curling your fingers within you faster without a thought about their eyes upon you in such a compromising position.
“Fuck, ~sweetheart~,” the male Alpha groaned, feeling the blood rush to his cock as he greedily took you in. “~Don’t you just make a pretty fucking picture~.”
Neytiri flicked him with her tail, muttering, “Ma’Jake, she does not understand the tawtute language.” Her husband blushed at this reminder and the two of them lowered the courting basket, watching as you stared at them with hazy eyes, your fingers still pressed inside of you. To you, she explained, voice a little shaky as your aroma started to affect her, “My skxawng husband was complimenting you, paysyul. You are… very appealing like this.” Kneeling down by one of your ankles, Jake followed suit at your other one and you could see the way his tewng bulged with his visibly swelling cock as he was also influenced by the scent of your heat and the pheromones you were excreting.
The male Alpha added, “~Sweetheart~, we had hoped to do this the proper way… but…” He gestured to the basket, “will you allow us to help you? We will make you feel so good. I promise.”
Neytiri leaned forward, still not touching as she nodded, her pupils dilated as her gaze glued to where your fingers were buried. You sucked in a deep breath and their combined scents made the need within you stronger, your cunt tightening upon your fingers. “Ohhh,” you moaned wantonly, “yes, please. I ache so badly.” Immediately, Neytiri pounced forward and caught your wrist, pulling it free of your body. She shushed you when you wined in protest, only for it to cut off as she brought your slick coated fingers to her mouth, licking them clean rather greedily, purring once more. “Please,” you begged before glancing over at Jake, not wanting him to feel left out. The male Alpha smirked down at you and moved closer so he could have an easier time leaning down and kissing your lips. You sighed into his mouth and allowed your hand that had been upon your breasts to cup his strong jaw. Only to squeal as curious fingers slid inside of you. Neytiri, not to be outdone by her mate bullied her way between your legs and slid her own fingers into you, drawing your attention back to her. You raised your hips into her touch and rutted against her hand, her thinner fingers so different than your own and causing you to feel that much more. “Oh, please, please,” you begged, clinging to Jake and the mat below you.
Jake moved to kiss you again, only for Neytiri to growl lowly. He shot her an unimpressed look, reminding her, “~Baby, we promised to share~.”
Neytiri’s ears flicked back and her nose flared in agitation but she nodded and added something else you didn’t understand. The male Alpha immediately smirked once more and scooped you up, settling himself into your nest with you on top of him, resting in the cradle of his thick thighs, your back against the muscles of his chest. With his scent that much more around you, you grabbed his arms and wrapped them around your belly, burying your nose into his bicep and breathing deeply, making him chuckle. The Alpha female purred and leaned over top of you, sandwiching you in between their sapphire bodies and lowered her mouth to yours now, kissing you much more ferociously. You whimpered and clung to her shoulders, flexing your spread legs in invitation.
“I have what you need,” the older woman assured you and sat back, removing her chest covering that you had made for her before untying her tewng and drawing it away from her body. You watched avidly; your blue eyes glued to her movements.
Because she was a female, Neytiri had the same parts as you: breasts, cunt, and a womb. Because she was an Alpha, she also had a slit on the front of her pubic bone that was only supposed to open during her rut or her Omega’s heat. The seam of her front slit was spreading now and the flesh on either side was beginning to swell on either side of the opening, revealing something pink within. Carefully, you reached out and caressed the fleshy bulge and finding it soft and a bit squishy.
“That is where Tiri’s seed is, ~sweetheart~,” Jake told you softly into your ear. “And that thing within her slit? That is her cock. Why not coax it out?”
You hummed and met Neytiri’s eyes. She rested her hands on your knees and nodded encouragement. You cautiously pressed your fingers into the top and bottom edges of her slit and caressed the crown of her penis, finding little nubs all over the pink head. She grunted as her cerulean striped length began to slide out into the open blossoming under your careful strokes, the bioluminescent freckles glowing upon her shaft that was slowly filling with blood as you ignited her lust further with your tender ministrations. “Yes, paysyul. Just like that,” she encouraged you. You gulped as she continued to slide further and further from her sheath and thicken, revealing noticeable ridges decorating the underside of her penis. And towards the base of her cock was a ring of flesh, slightly thicker with more of those little nubs and a heavier smattering of her glowing spots. You realized it was her knot. “I am going to put this inside of you now, if you want that?” she asked for assurance.
You nodded quickly, eagerly, a breathy “Yes, please… Tiri,” falling from your lips. She grinned, enjoying hearing her nickname from you.
Sliding forward, her cock, about maybe ten inches long and four inches towards the base, nudged your opening, gathering your copious amounts of slick and coating herself with it. Meeting your gaze, she hooked her hands beneath your knees and slid forward slowly, gritting her teeth at your tightness. Your nails dug into Jake’s forearms as you moan, body beginning to tremble as your cunt stretched around her invasion.
“~Easy, baby, easy~,” Jake murmured, soothingly, kissing the side of your head as he glanced between his wife and the way it slid into your pussy. Murmuring to you as his mate’s pelvis came flush with the juncture of your thighs, he asked, “How do you feel, ~sweetheart~?”
“Good,” you gasped, your blue eyes rolling. “Full.”
This caused him to laugh quietly and you struggled to meet his eyes. “If you think you feel full with Tiri’s cock in you, I am going to absolutely wreck your ~pussy, sweetheart~. I am… quite a bit bigger.”
“She is so tight Ma’Jake,” Neytiri moaned, her honey yellow eyes half lidded her jaw slack.
Jake chuckled, “Make her feel good, ~baby~. You know how bad your rut can get.” His wife nodded and slid out partially from your warm, wet depths, grinning as you whined in protest. Only to wail when she thrust her cock back inside. “~That’s it, baby. Make our Omega feel good.~” He reached out and fondled one of your breasts, tweaking the nipple between two of his thick fingers.
You whined, lifting your hips to meet her thrusts, begging aloud, “More, more, please!” You wanted it. The full feeling. The need turning to indescribable pleasure. Tears were starting to well in your eyes as you dug your heels into your bedding and sped up your movements, an itchiness, a demand for more, more, more driving you forward desperately. Your fangs began to ache in your mouth and you shoved yourself up and away from Jake’s touch, sliding yourself up onto Neytiri’s thighs and beginning to ride her frantically, shoving your face into the unmarked side of her neck and nuzzled her there, scenting her as you bounced over her frenziedly. Her scent was sweet and floral with the underlying smell of wood and fresh and the rain on the wind, one you would happily drown in. You moaned and moved your mouth to her gland, sucking upon it as you urgently continued to ride Neytiri’s cock.
You were finally close.
So, fucking close.
A harsh little tug to your tail from was what did it for you.
You let out a harsh but pitiful whine, feeling the expectation build within your body as you finally crested the peak of your pleasure, the coil snapping free as your orgasm washed over your senses like a destructive tidal wave during the stormy season. It was nothing but blinding sensation, a shock to your system like you would imagine getting hit by the bolts of light in the sky would feel, robbing you of all self-control. A low growl rolled out from within your throat and before you could think, you had sunk your double set of fangs into her neck, nearly foaming at the mouth when you finally tasted her blood gushing past your lips. You spasmed, your inner walls clamping down upon her cock with a muffled wail and you felt her slam your hips down upon her, your cunt eagerly wrapping around Neytiri’s knot greedily and sealing her deep inside as her knot expanded, forcing her own climax, her cock spurting deep within you, filling you with her seed. With your sharp little fangs still embedded in her neck, she shot Jake a smug look over your shoulder and haughtily bit down on one of your own glands, marking you as hers in return before her husband could.
Behind you, Jake grunted as he fisted his pulsing cock, cumming right along with the two of you, his tewng cast aside after you had started to ride his wife.
You pulled away from Neytiri, licking softly at the wound you had made in a hope it would stop trickling blood soon, what with the coagulability Na’vi saliva possessed. “I am sorry, if I hurt you,” you whispered shyly, wondering if you should apologize for marking her without her consent as well. She hummed as she cleaned your new mark upon your neck, nuzzling your cheek and kissing you softly.
“No fear,” she replied. “I hoped you would mark me. But my skxawng and I come as a pair. Will you mark him as well?”
You turned around, whining slightly as it tugged at the knot deep within you to look at Jake and see the hope in his golden eyes. “If you would have me, yes,” you whispered, shuddering as you felt Neytiri’s cock pulse within you. “Ohhh,” you moaned. “How long does this usually last?”
Jake and Neytiri shrugged, the male Alpha replying, “We are not sure as we have never been with an Omega before. Are you not comfortable, ~sweetheart~?” You didn’t want to complain. You already felt loads better than your previous heats now that you had Neytiri inside of you but you were a little uncomfortable in this position. Jake must have seen your face because he helped you and his wife down onto the mat onto your sides where you could relax a little better. He then offered you both a water skin as he took a soft cloth and gently wiped you clean of sweat and residual blood.
“Thank you, Jake,” you murmured, smiling shyly up at him before blushing and realizing he was as naked as you and Neytiri were. And then you noticed his cock, flaccid now that he’d jerked himself off but still impressive compared to other male Na’vi’s you had seen in passing. Sometimes, when you or your sister were fitting a male for a new tewng, you got a peak of what he was packing and from the looks of it, even now, Jake was putting them all to shame. You hid your face into Neytiri’s neck as you added, “Ah, I see what you mean, Jake.”
He chuckled, retorting, “No worries, ~sweetheart~, it will fit. The kids are proof of that. ‘Ey, Neytiri?” She giggled at that.
The kids.
You flushed.
“Ah, they… your children will be alright to accept me?” you asked softly.
The mated pair glanced at each other and laughed, your ears twitching with dubiousness if they were laughing at you or not. “~Sweetheart~,” Jake told you soothingly, running his thick fingers through your hair, “Lo’ak and Tuk have both started calling you the equivalent of sa’nok in English. That is what ~mom~ means. We just did not want to pressure you before you had chosen us.” You gaped in surprise before you blushed once more, this time in happiness at being so accepted into the family of foreigners you had come to care for. He added, “I hope this does not scare you.”
You shook your head, grinning to yourself. “No, I am not scared,” you assured them. “Your children are wonderful.”
Neytiri grinned and touched your belly. “We may have one more soon,” she reminded you.
You shifted against her and her knot finally popped free, Jake swooping in to help ease you off his wife and to wipe you up gently as your slick and her cum poured back out of your body. You grit your teeth as he soothingly washed your nether parts clean. “Just sensitive,” you told him at his worried glance, “and a bit sore. I have never taken anything bigger than my fingers before now.”
His pupils dilated at that.
“Oh, really now?” he smirked and leaned forward, kissing you. “Guess that really makes you, ~our girl~.”
You adjusted yourself onto your knees and cupped his jaw, allowing him to pull you up onto his lap, his cock resting beneath the curve of your backside as your tongue played with his own. His possessive hands hugged your hips as he devoured your mouth hungrily. And just like that, your heat kicked back up, no longer satisfied with just the one orgasm previously. Your body thrummed with rebuilding need and your cunt began to slicken up once more in preparation for another round, this time with your other mate.
“Our sweet little paysyul,” Neytiri agreed, moving out of the nest for her husband and you.
“Thanks, ~baby~,” Jake panted, grinning at his wife as he maneuvered you into the proper presentation position, on your knees with your shoulders down, ass up, your slick little pussy on display for him. “~Fuck, sweetheart~,” he groaned, stroking his cock to life at the carnal picture you made, just for him at this moment. “You ready for me, ~sweetheart~?” You nodded eagerly, only to feel the sting of a hand upon your backside. “Words, ~sweetheart~. Use your words.”
“I am ready for you, Jake,” you replied, wiggling your hips in invitation.
He smacked your other cheek before soothing the sting with his warm palm and then lining himself up with your entrance. “Be a good girl, ~sweetheart~, and breathe. I am bigger than Neytiri and you have to tell me if it hurts.” You verbally agreed as gasped as he started to push forward. “Breathe, ~sweetheart~,” Jake reminded you through gritted teeth. You nodded and Neytiri leaned down, putting her face nears yours and having you focus upon her to match your breathing with hers. It helped as your male Alpha inched his thick cock further and further into your warm, wet depths. “~Fuck, sweetheart, you really are tight~,” he groaned, reaching under you with one hand and circling your clit with his index finger, causing more slick to seep out of your entrance and ease his way deeper inside of you. He growled, “Ohhhh, yes.”
Finally, his hips were flush with the curve of your backside and Neytiri praised you, caressing your cheek affectionately.
You panted for breath, feeling even more full than when you had had her cock inside of you. Jake was practically splitting you apart he was so big! It hurt being stretched so wide but it felt so right. This was what you needed, what your body needed, what it was made for, your hindbrain preening in accomplishment at taking both of your Alphas’ cocks though you weren’t entirely sure if you would be able to take his knot. But if you could take his cock once, you could take it again, proving that exact thing when he began to slide out of you only to thrust back inside.
Then again.
And again.
And again.
“Ohhh, Jake,” you slurred as he invaded your depths, the warmth of your heat spreading throughout your body. “Please. Oh, please.”
He gripped your hips harder and speared into you faster, grunting, “Yeah, ~sweetheart. That’s right~. Take it. Take it like a good girl, yeah? Take this cock.” You whined in agreement, the coil beginning to tighten within your belly as the heat spread further and further, the itchiness you felt with your female Alpha making its presence known again. Neytiri watched avidly as her mate fucked into you like a well-oiled machine, her tail swaying in appreciation at watching her husband’s muscles bulge and gleam with sweat as he worked into you tirelessly, a creamy ring forming just above his knot. Jake continued to babble, “Maybe one of us will get you pregnant during this heat of yours, yeah? Would you like that, ~sweetheart~? Hmmm? Getting pregnant with mine or Neytiri’s baby? Your belly swelling with our child? Add to the Sully clan? You would be such a good sa’nok, yeah… So good with our other kids. Gonna give you one of your own.”
You whined out a ‘yes, oh please, yes’, your inner walls fluttering around his thick shaft at the picture that evoked within your mind. And you found you wanted it. You wanted what he described.
Neytiri grinned. “Do it, Ma’Jake,” she agreed. “Get our sweet little paysyul. We could use another baby now that Tuk is becoming more independent.”
With his wife’s encouragement and your agreement, Jake pulled out of you just long enough to flip you onto your back and thrust back into your body. You wrapped your legs around his hips and clung to his back, your fangs aching within your gums once more with the need to bite and claim your other mate, the need, the fire of your building pleasure burning you from the inside out. You buried your face into the crook of his neck, the smoky, musky scent of his paired with metal and gunpowder filling your lungs. Now slightly more familiar with that feeling you allowed yourself to lose control this time as your orgasm burst through you and your fangs broke the skin of his scent gland, permanently claiming Toruk Makto as yours.
“Good, little paysyul,” Neytiri purred, nuzzling your cheek as you relaxed back into your nest with her husband on top of you. “You did very well.” She pushed at Jake’s shoulder, and he rolled off of you, bringing you to lay on his chest. She tipped a water skin into your mouth carefully before doing the same to her husband and stroking both of your cheeks. “Are you hungry? Perhaps I can offer you something to eat?” Your stomach grumbled lightly and you blushed.
At least you knew both of your two new mates would take care of you.
Ok may I shall make request,
It’s basically a fluffy hyperfixation I had that I wish to make true but I am no writer sooooooo-
Plz?
Request: Do you do muzan stuff I hope you do- ok ok listen, muzan finding a child (y/n) in the middle of the woods and some how fell in love with the sweetheart, like loves us so much he will literally have the upper moons be body guards for this little human child-
And when I mean fell in love I mean platonically- I hope this is good- you can change whatever you want, your the writer!
Yes, I love the idea! So cute! Also, I'm weak for anything related to Muzan or the Upper Moons.
I tried my best to fit everything into one story, but I hope you like it 🥺!
Adoption (Muzan + Upper Moons + Child! Gn! Reader)
Tumblr media
"You will look after my child until I get back."
Muzan glared at the Upper Moons as he made his order clear. His gaze only softened when he glanced at (Name)’s sleepy form in his arms. Muzan brushed a strand of hair out of their face, admiring how adorable they were. He would never admit that out loud, though. At least not in front of his subordinates.
"Not even an ounce of harm should come to (Name), so make sure you attend them correctly."
Muzan had to leave to investigate a lead that could bring him to finally find what he had long been searching for: the Blue Spider Lily. That led to a problem: he had to find someone to take care of (Name). A frown appeared on his face because, in all honesty, he didn’t want to leave his child with the Upper Moons. (Name) was human. Fragile. His subordinates, some more than others, could be a menace to the safeness of the little one.
He had no other option, though. They were the only ones strong enough to protect (Name). Muzan rubbed his temples, trying to calm down. The memories of when he found (Name) were still engraved in his mind.
——————————————————————————
The demon lord was walking around the forest, trying to find some sort of information about the whereabouts of the Blue Spider Lily. It had been snowing since the morning, making walking around the area at night difficult. Even for him. Still, he wasn’t going to let any sort of valuable information go to waste without checking it first.
Like always, it was useless information. His face turned to one of pure anger as he hit the nearest tree, which made some fragments of snow fell on top of him. Muzan brushed it off his clothes, his red eyes narrowing. He only cared about one thing right now: his and his subordinates' constant failures to find the flower he desired so much. And that was the sole reason behind his anger.
He was about to leave when a mumbled crying noise got his attention. A child. A small one, too. Muzan got closer, trying to see what was going on. And he found (Name). The human child was covered in snow, sobbing, shaking, and trying to warm up. They were quite young—around four years old. As soon as their eyes met, they stopped crying.
"Dada!"
The child wrapped their tiny arms around his leg, their (e/c) eyes fully focused on the man in front of them. Muzan wasn’t the type to feel sympathy for anyone, but his cold heart slightly melted as the human child called him father. He decided to pick them up, wrapping his arms around (Name). Muzan tried to warm the child's body, his free hand cleaning the snow off their shoulders and hair. It wasn't long until he heard a grumble from the little one's stomach.
"Let’s get you something to eat."
——————————————————————————
Now, Muzan had fully adopted (Name) as his child. All the demons knew about it since he told them. They also remembered that meeting very well. His announcement included two things: a phrase about adopting (Name) and some threats. Just in case someone decided to hurt his child.
Muzan stopped recalling the past. He had things to do. So, he finally tucked (Name) in their bed, leaning in to kiss their forehead. After that, he sat on the edge of their bed, giving instructions to his subordinates. (Name) kept peacefully sleeping the whole time, unaware of what her father was still talking about with the Upper Moons.
"If (Name) has even the slightest complain about any of you, be sure you’ll never live to see another day."
After the threat, Muzan promised himself to go back home quickly. He would check if the information was authentic, and he would return. After all, he never fully trusted the Upper Moons. Muzan put his hat on, staring at the door of (Name)'s bedroom. His eyes met a drawing (Name) had made of them, making him smile for a mere second. Then he left.
——————————————————————————
The time (Name) was able to share with the Upper Moons went by without incident. All of them acted in different ways, but the demons grew to adore the little human child.
Kokushibo acted like a guardian, not allowing anyone to hurt (Name). The Upper One was once on a walk at night with the child. As soon as they kept walking, a group of kids slightly older than (Name) crashed into them, making the little one fall to the ground. The situation didn’t end well. At first, Kokushibo asked several times for them to apologize. When they didn't, he didn’t hesitate to unsheathe his katana. A warning look in his six eyes.
"I’ll not repeat myself anymore. Apologize to (Name)-sama or face the consequences."
The kids were quick to bow now, apologizing to (Name). Once they finished, they flew away with pale faces filled with cold sweat. (Name) turned to Kokushibo, thanking him. Their eyes glinted with admiration, and their adorable smile was back on their faces.
"Whoa, you are amazing! Dad has such a strong warrior by his side!"
Kokushibo couldn’t help but crack a slight smile as the child praised him, picking them up in his arms as they carried the child back to Muzan’s house.
Douma loved playing with (Name). He was the most outgoing and affectionate of them. The Upper Two liked to make sure the little one was happy and entertained. He bought (Name) toys, tickled them, read them stories before they went to bed, and even took them to the Eternal Paradise Faith. His followers whispered and looked at the child with confusion, unable to fathom where they came from. Still, they treated (Name) with the uttermost respect. After all, their Lord Founder's guests were their guests too.
"(Name)-sama, look! I made an ice sculpture of you! Isn’t it cute?" The Upper Moon placed a small sculpture on the child's hands, signaling them to look closely at it. An excited expression in the Upper Two features.
"It is! Is super cute!" (Name)'s bright smile as they admired their present was contagious, which made Douma smile back at them.
Much like Kokushibo, Akaza was like a guardian for the little one. He was always around the kid as much as he could, trying to avoid other demons from hurting (Name). Akaza always stayed by their side as they slept, alert to any sound. One of those nights, Douma tried to enter (Name)’s room to sleep by their side, wanting to give affection to the child.
"(Name)-sama is sleeping. Get lost." With that, Akaza closed the door in Douma’s face, not allowing the Upper Two to even speak before doing so.
Hantengu used his clones around (Name) since they were able to take better care of the child than him. Sekido was the scariest one for (Name). Not only because he acted like an authoritative figure but also because of how easily he got angry. Patience was not his strong suit, but luckily Aizetsu was always by their side to calm Sekido down. Meanwhile, Urogi and Karaku cracked jokes around (Name), wanting to make them laugh. Urogi also loved taking (Name) in his arms as he was flying, always making the kids' eyes widen in amazement. Their little hands held onto him as they giggled.
"More, please!" (Name) always begged when Urogi landed, wanting to experience that again.
Gyokko spent his time with (Name) doing more creative activities. He taught the child how to paint and draw, although only the basics. (Name) loved his explanations, admiring his work as he taught them. The child got closer to the vase he was painting, and when he was about to tell them to step back because of how easily it could break, (Name) said something.
"Your work is so pretty!" That was such an ego boost for Upper Five that he even allowed the child to paint one of his vases.
Daki was the most reluctant to bond with (Name) at first. She didn’t want to interact with the human that now had Muzan’s full attention, not understanding what was so special about them. Still, she was unable to avoid the kid when, one day, they grabbed her leg, giving her puppy eyes and the most adorable look she had ever seen. The Upper Six melted, hugging the child.
"I’ll be your older sister from now on!"
Since then, Daki started pampering (Name) a lot. She bought them cute, expensive clothes. She made sure (Name)'s outfits were always up-to-date with the latest trends. Daki would brush the child's hair, loving to see how shiny it got each time she brushed it. When Gyutaro was out too, they went out for walks or even to food stalls
All of this led the Upper Moons to want to spend more time with (Name), becoming both attached and protective of the little one.
But soon, Muzan came back. The demon lord was quick to snatch his child away from them.
"Your work here is done."
The Upper Moons were all devastated when Muzan told them that. Some showed it more than others. Daki was even about to whine, but then (Name) spoke.
"Dad, I want to see them more often. Please."
(Name) begged, not wanting to say goodbye to the Upper Moons. Muzan sighed, but he ended up agreeing. He would go to any lengths for (Name), after all.
to have your hand... and,
Tumblr media
summary: this prompt but as a fic !
pairing: jacaerys velaryon x fem!reader
notes: no warnings for this one ! just a simple fic that was supposed to be posted for my 1k special ! <3
"I believe you'll head to Y/N's chambers, Jacaerys?"
The young man glared at his mother's loud voice that caught the people around them's attention. Lucerys snorted at that, keeping his stare in front of him to avoid angering his older brother.
Jacaerys groaned, "Mother."
"I heard their exchanging letters!" Joffrey beamed loudly making Daemon raise his eyebrow at them. Their eldest son exchanging letters with Alicent's daughter, how peculiar.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Joffrey." Jacaerys says, looking away from the teasing looks of his mother and brothers.
Rhaenyra rolls her eyes jokingly, smiling warmly at her son before shrugging. "There's no need to hide it, Jace. Although I don't think her mother would be in favor, it's best you two have fun for now but-"
"Remember your responsibilities, Jacaerys. You are my heir." He purses his lips quietly, nodding at his mother's words.
A round of silence hit their carriage, neither of them wanting to speak after Rhaenyra's small talk with her son. That was only until she speaks once more.
"By chance, do you know what your brother wrote in those letters-"
"Mother!"
The carriage erupted in laughters upon Jacaerys' frustrated call, Lucerys taking the moment to make up for his older brother teasing him with Rhaena.
"Ñuha hūra, Jace." My moon.
He looked at her confusedly, Daemon smirking at the side while Rhaenyra does not explain what it means. Lucerys points out his expression, resulting in laughters. Once more filling the carriage with the three brothers barking playful insults with each other.
All the while you were cooped up in your own mini library in your chambers to even bother with the world.
You had your leg propped up on a small table, sipping some tea with a slice of cake, everything was peaceful.
You had been reading a book about the history of Westeros, freshly starting on a chapter about the Targaryen Heritage with a passage written in High Valyrian.
Your forehead scrunched in slight confusion, not really that fluent in the language.
As you tried to pronounce the first sentence in the passage, you remembered that your father's daughter would be coming back to the Red Keep. Meaning, she would bring her family with her and by extension of that, the brunette know-it-all menace that is Jacaerys Velaryon.
You hastily got out of your sitting position, running over to your cabinet to grab a piece of additional clothing when someone knocks.
"What- Jacaerys?"
"Jurnegēre syt issa?" Looking for me?
He chuckles seeing you roll your eyes at him, obviously trying to decipher the short phrase he said.
"Nyke ūndegon aōha bartos ēdan grown rōvykta." You replied with a playful glare, pulling him inside of your chambers and slamming the door closed. I see your head had grown bigger
Jacaerys took the sweet liberty in snooping around your room, going from one corner to the other as he inspected whatever little bits and pieces were lying around. He hid a small smile upon seeing the same bracelet he gave you on your bedside.
His eyes eventually see the book sprawled open over you desk. "You're reading?"
You huff at him, walking over to the male and closing the book quickly right before he could make a remark about you studying. "Nothing really."
When he remembers the contents written in the page that the book was opened on, he realizes something. You were reading in High Valyrian. He smiles to himself with that thought, thinking that you'd thought of him enough to review High Valyrian again but it was truly just a small portion of the book regarding the language itself.
The book finds itself in Jacaerys' hand; the older man sitting on the seat you were previously in and opening up the book. He read the title of the book out loud and amusement could be seen on his face. You simply watched him with a raised eyebrow, waiting for him to say something.
"I'm guessing you've been reading for a few days now, studying. You're still bad at it though."
"Do you not have things to do, Jacaerys?" You reply, mildly annoyed.
Jacaerys shrugs once more with a teasing look, flipping through the pages of the book. He juts out his lower lip while nodding, stopping at a specific page.
"Rȳ se Zōbriēdar rāenion, pōnta raided se gaomagon," Jace reads out, expectingly staring at you as you leaned on one of the bed posts. Setting aside whatever you were thinking to translate the phrase Jace read out, it took you a lot of minutes and you still hadn't figured it out.
The brunette male chuckles at you, shifting his gaze away from you and back to the book. "Through the blackwater bay, they raided the keep." Jace answered himself.
"I knew that." You joked.
"I'm sure you did."
The hours passed by fast. By this time Jace was laying on your bed, dictating passages in High Valyrian— not all that fluent.
You, on the other hand, was just listening to him teasing you every now and then about not being overly fluent in the language even though he was the same as well. He gone through a big number of the books you kept in your room, not really caring enough to thoroughly read it but would just skim through the fragile pages.
"Gods, that was an easy one, Y/N." Jace groans.
"Oh, forgive me. I do not have a private tutor teaching me High Valyrian anytime my heart desires," you reply with a roll of your eyes, patting your face with a puff. "Se nyke don't emagon muñar bona ȳzaldrīzes se udrir naejot bodmagho issa... I mean, I did. but King Viserys is gone long before I could be fluent." And I don't have parents that speak the language to teach me.
Jacaerys felt apologetic for a second, thinking that he may have made you feel bad about yourself.
"But your brother, Prince Aemond, has a tutor... why not just join him?" He took careful steps towards your dresser, looking amused at the powder you were patting on your cheek.
"He's a man, if you can't tell. And besides, mother won't allow it."
"What- what does him being a man have anything to do with it? Your mother-"
You sighed loudly, cutting him off. "You're a man, Jacaerys. Of course you wouldn't know."
He immediately backed off of the subject, raising his arms up in defeat to which you see from the reflection of the mirror. You scoff playfully at him because of it.
"Is it okay if I ask what's that you're putting on your face?" You raise an eyebrow.
When you placed down the puff, showing him the container of the powder, Jacaerys pushed you gently to seat beside you on the cushioned chair for your dresser. You scooted quickly, letting him inspect the small jar with curiosity while you continued explaining.
"Ziry iksos gevie," Jace says in acknowledgment, body stretching to the side to watch you. It is beautiful.
"Nyke gīmigon." You replied with a smug grin. I know.
Jacaerys let out a playful laugh, rolling his eyes. "Yn nykeēdrosa quba rȳ gaomagon se udrir." But still bad at using the language.
Laughter fills the chamber as you kick his leg hard, Jacaerys laughing at both himself and you. He puts his elbow up on your dresser, watching you in an amused look as you quickly went back to focusing on your face.
"If you want..." he breathed, "You can visit Dragonstone anytime. I'm sure Maester Gerardys is more than willing to have one more student."
You promptly halted your movements, furrowing your eyebrows. "Do I speak Valyrian that bad?" He shook his head with an embarrassed smile, joking with you and saying yes before he apologizes lightly.
A thought runs through Jace's head as he watches you laugh. Blinking shallowly before he falls silent in contemplation.
"Ahh...naejot emagon aōha ondos se jorrāelagon." He spoke softly, not meaning for it to be as audible as it was. Ahh... to have your hand and your love.
You put down your puff on the dresser, firmly and slowly turning to glance at him making Jacaerys tense up. He was scared that you may have heard him and started feeling awkward.
"That was not what I taught you, is it?" The two of you turned abruptly to the foreign voice inside of your room. The color on Jace's face dropped, his mother's stern stance by the doorway.
The older woman had her eyebrow raised, arms crossed on her chest before the side of her lips slowly raises into a sneaking grin.
The Grimm Variations, Episode 5*
Tumblr media
A new Netflix Anime has caught my eye. It's Called the Grimm Variations; which feature retellings of Original Brothers Grimm fairytales. But rather be a beat for beat, they are more reimagined. A "What If" kind of thing. I figured I'd share the original Fairytales these stories are based on for those interested.
Edit: I got the order of the episodes Mixed up, so I'll share them in the order I saw them. This one was Based on the Classic story Hansel and Gretel. A staple Fairytale for Kitchen Witches. Two children from a poor household trying to be driven away by their mother to save money. She keeps trying to lose them in the forest and they keep managing to find their way back. Until, one day, they don't and stumble into a Witch's Sweet Bread House. A common misconception about the story though is that Hansel and Gretel leave bread crumbs to find their ways home. So "Bread Crumbs" is a common turn of phrase used when describing clues left by others on purpose. However, they found their way home using stones. When they tried using bread crumbs, that's when they got lost as the wildlife ate their trail.
Hansel and Gretel
Near a great forest there lived a poor woodcutter and his wife, and his two children; the boy's name was Hansel and the girl's Grethel. They had very little to bite or to sup, and once, when there was great dearth in the land, the man could not even gain the daily bread. As he lay in bed one night thinking of this, and turning and tossing, he sighed heavily, and said to his wife, "What will become of us? we cannot even feed our children; there is nothing left for ourselves."
"I will tell you what, husband," answered the wife; "we will take the children early in the morning into the forest, where it is thickest; we will make them a fire, and we will give each of them a piece of bread, then we will go to our work and leave them alone; they will never find the way home again, and we shall be quit of them."
"No, wife," said the man, "I cannot do that; I cannot find in my heart to take my children into the forest and to leave them there alone; the wild animals would soon come and devour them." - "O you fool," said she, "then we will all four starve; you had better get the coffins ready," and she left him no peace until he consented. "But I really pity the poor children," said the man.
The two children had not been able to sleep for hunger, and had heard what their step-mother had said to their father. Grethel wept bitterly, and said to Hansel, "It is all over with us."
"Do be quiet, Grethel," said Hansel, "and do not fret; 1 will manage something." And when the parents had gone to sleep he got up, put on his little coat, opened the back door, and slipped out. The moon was shining brightly, and the white flints that lay in front of the house glistened like pieces of silver. Hansel stooped and filled the little pocket of his coat as full as it would hold. Then he went back again, and said to Grethel, "Be easy, dear little sister, and go to sleep quietly; God will not forsake us," and laid himself down again in his bed. When the day was breaking, and before the sun had risen, the wife came and awakened the two children, saying, "Get up, you lazy bones; we are going into the forest to cut wood." Then she gave each of them a piece of bread, and said, "That is for dinner, and you must not eat it before then, for you will get no more." Grethel carried the bread under her apron, for Hansel had his pockets full of the flints. Then they set off all together on their way to the forest. When they had gone a little way Hansel stood still and looked back towards the house, and this he did again and again, till his father said to him, "Hansel, what are you looking at? take care not to forget your legs."
"O father," said Hansel, "lam looking at my little white kitten, who is sitting up on the roof to bid me good-bye." - "You young fool," said the woman, "that is not your kitten, but the sunshine on the chimney-pot." Of course Hansel had not been looking at his kitten, but had been taking every now and then a flint from his pocket and dropping it on the road. When they reached the middle of the forest the father told the children to collect wood to make a fire to keep them, warm; and Hansel and Grethel gathered brushwood enough for a little mountain j and it was set on fire, and when the flame was burning quite high the wife said, "Now lie down by the fire and rest yourselves, you children, and we will go and cut wood; and when we are ready we will come and fetch you."
So Hansel and Grethel sat by the fire, and at noon they each ate their pieces of bread. They thought their father was in the wood all the time, as they seemed to hear the strokes of the axe: but really it was only a dry branch hanging to a withered tree that the wind moved to and fro. So when they had stayed there a long time their eyelids closed with weariness, and they fell fast asleep.
When at last they woke it was night, and Grethel began to cry, and said, "How shall we ever get out of this wood? "But Hansel comforted her, saying, "Wait a little while longer, until the moon rises, and then we can easily find the way home." And when the full moon got up Hansel took his little sister by the hand, and followed the way where the flint stones shone like silver, and showed them the road. They walked on the whole night through, and at the break of day they came to their father's house. They knocked at the door, and when the wife opened it and saw that it was Hansel and Grethel she said, "You naughty children, why did you sleep so long in the wood? we thought you were never coming home again!" But the father was glad, for it had gone to his heart to leave them both in the woods alone.
Not very long after that there was again great scarcity in those parts, and the children heard their mother say at night in bed to their father, "Everything is finished up; we have only half a loaf, and after that the tale comes to an end. The children must be off; we will take them farther into the wood this time, so that they shall not be able to find the way back again; there is no other way to manage." The man felt sad at heart, and he thought, "It would better to share one's last morsel with one's children." But the wife would listen to nothing that he said, but scolded and reproached him. He who says A must say B too, and when a man has given in once he has to do it a second time.
But the children were not asleep, and had heard all the talk. When the parents had gone to sleep Hansel got up to go out and get more flint stones, as he did before, but the wife had locked the door, and Hansel could not get out; but he comforted his little sister, and said, "Don't cry, Grethel, and go to sleep quietly, and God will help us." Early the next morning the wife came and pulled the children out of bed. She gave them each a little piece of "bread -less than before; and on the way to the wood Hansel crumbled the bread in his pocket, and often stopped to throw a crumb on the ground. "Hansel, what are you stopping behind and staring for?" said the father.
"I am looking at my little pigeon sitting on the roof, to say good-bye to me," answered Hansel. "You fool," said the wife, "that is no pigeon, but the morning sun shining on the chimney pots." Hansel went on as before, and strewed bread crumbs all along the road. The woman led the children far into the wood, where they had never been before in all their lives. And again there was a large fire made, and the mother said, "Sit still there, you children, and when you are tired you can go to sleep; we are going into the forest to cut wood, and in the evening, when we are ready to go home we will come and fetch you."
So when noon came Grethel shared her bread with Hansel, who had strewed his along the road. Then they went to sleep, and the evening passed, and no one came for the poor children. When they awoke it was dark night, and Hansel comforted his little sister, and said, "Wait a little, Grethel, until the moon gets up, then we shall be able to see the way home by the crumbs of bread that I have scattered along it."
So when the moon rose they got up, but they could find no crumbs of bread, for the birds of the woods and of the fields had come and picked them up. Hansel thought they might find the way all the same, but they could not. They went on all that night, and the next day from the morning until the evening, but they could not find the way out of the wood, and they were very hungry, for they had nothing to eat but the few berries they could pick up. And when they were so tired that they could no longer drag themselves along, they lay down under a tree and fell asleep.
It was now the third morning since they had left their father's house. They were always trying to get back to it, but instead of that they only found themselves farther in the wood, and if help had not soon come they would have been starved.
About noon they saw a pretty snow-white bird sitting on a bough, and singing so sweetly that they stopped to listen. And when he had finished the bird spread his wings and flew before them, and they followed after him until they came to a little house, and the bird perched on the roof, and when they came nearer they saw that the house was built of bread, and roofed with cakes; and the window was of transparent sugar. "We will have some of this," said Hansel, "and make a fine meal. I will eat a piece of the roof, Grethel, and you can have some of the window-that will taste sweet." So Hansel reached up and broke off a bit of the roof, just to see how it tasted, and Grethel stood by the window and gnawed at it. Then they heard a thin voice call out from inside,
"Nibble, nibble, like a mouse, Who is nibbling at my house?"
And the children answered,
"Never mind, It is the wind."
And they went on eating, never disturbing themselves. Hansel, who found that the roof tasted very nice, took down a great piece of it, and Grethel pulled out a large round window-pane, and sat her down and began upon it.
Then the door opened, and an aged woman came out, leaning upon a crutch. Hansel and Grethel felt very frightened, and let fall what they had in their hands. The old woman, however, nodded her head, and said, "Ah, my dear children, how come you here? you must come indoors and stay with me, you will be no trouble." So she took them each by the hand, and led them into her little house. And there they found a good meal laid out, of milk and pancakes, with sugar, apples, and nuts. After that she showed them two little white beds, and Hansel and Grethel laid themselves down on them, and thought they were in heaven.
The old woman, although her behaviour was so kind, was a wicked witch, who lay in wait for children, and had built the little house on purpose to entice them. When they were once inside she used to kill them, cook them, and eat them, and then it was a feast day with her. The witch's eyes were red, and she could not see very far, but she had a keen scent, like the beasts, and knew very well when human creatures were near. When she knew that Hansel and Grethel were coming, she gave a spiteful laugh, and said triumphantly, "I have them, and they shall not escape me!"
Early in the morning, before the children were awake, she got up to look at them, and as they lay sleeping so peacefully with round rosy cheeks, she said to herself, "What a fine feast I shall have!" Then she grasped Hansel with her withered hand, and led him into a little stable, and shut him up behind a grating; and call and scream as he might, it was no good. Then she went back to Grethel and shook her, crying, "Get up, lazy bones; fetch water, and cook something nice for your brother; he is outside in the stable, and must be fattened up. And when he is fat enough I will eat him." Grethel began to weep bitterly, but it was of no use, she had to do what the wicked witch bade her. And so the best kind of victuals was cooked for poor Hansel, while Grethel got nothing but crab-shells.
Each morning the old woman visited the little stable, and cried, "Hansel, stretch out your finger, that I may tell if you will soon be fat enough." Hansel, however, used to hold out a little bone, and the old woman, who had weak eyes, could not see what it was, and supposing it to be Hansel's finger, wondered very much that it was not getting fatter.
When four weeks had passed and Hansel seemed to remain so thin, she lost patience and could wait no longer. "Now then, Grethel," cried she to the little girl; "be quick and draw water; be Hansel fat or be he lean, tomorrow I must kill and cook him." Oh what a grief for the poor little sister to have to fetch water, and how the tears flowed down over her cheeks! "Dear God, pray help us!" cried she; "if we had been devoured by wild beasts in the wood at least we should have died together."
"Spare me your lamentations," said the old woman; "they are of no avail." Early next morning Grethel had to get up, make the fire, and fill the kettle. "First we will do the baking," said the old woman; "I nave heated the oven already, and kneaded the dough." She pushed poor Grethel towards the oven, out of which the flames were already shining.
"Creep in," said the witch, "and see if it is properly hot, so that the bread may be baked." And Grethel once in, she meant to shut the door upon her and let her be baked, and then she would have eaten her. But Grethel perceived her intention, and said, "I don't know how to do it: how shall I get in?"
"Stupid goose," said the old woman, "the opening is big enough, do you see? I could get in myself!" and she stooped down and put her head in the oven's mouth. Then Grethel gave her a push, so that she went in farther, and she shut the iron door upon her, and put up the bar. Oh how frightfully she howled! but Grethel ran away, and left the wicked witch to burn miserably.
Grethel went straight to Hansel, opened the stable-door, and cried, "Hansel, we are free! the old witch is dead!" Then out flew Hansel like a bird from its cage as soon as the door is opened. How rejoiced they both were! how they fell each on the other's neck! and danced about, and kissed each other! And as they had nothing more to fear they went over all the old witch's house, and in every corner there stood chests of pearls and precious stones. "This is something better than flint stones," said Hansel, as he filled his pockets, and Grethel, thinking she also would like to carry something home with her, filled her apron full. i! Now, away we go," said Hansel, "if we only can get out of the witch's wood." When they had journeyed a few hours they came to a great piece of water. "We can never get across this," said Hansel, "I see no stepping-stones and no bridge."
"And there is no boat either," said Grethel; "but here comes a white duck; if I ask her she will help us over." So she cried,
"Duck, duck, here we stand, Hansel and Grethel, on the land, Stepping-stones and bridge we lack, Carry us over on your nice white back."
And the duck came accordingly, and Hansel got upon her and told his sister to come too. "No," answered Grethel, "that would be too hard upon the duck; we can go separately, one after the other." And that was how it was managed, and after that they went on happily, until they came to the wood, and the way grew more and more familiar, till at last they saw in the distance their father's house. Then they ran till they came up to it, rushed in at the door, and fell on their father's neck. The man had not had a quiet hour since he left his children in the wood; but the wife was dead. And when Grethel opened her apron the pearls and precious stones were scattered all over the room, and Hansel took one handful after another out of his pocket. Then was all care at an end, and they lived in great joy together. My tale is done, there runs a mouse, whosoever catches it, may make himself a big fur cap out of it.
Gay Mermaid Books!!
Are you excited? 'Cause I'm literally so excited -- who doesn't love a gay mermaid book? Honestly, I think mermaids are a little underrated as fantasy creatures, and so it's time we change that. And be gay along the way. 'Cause why the fuck not, right?
I've compiled this list with all the gay books with mermaid and mermaid-adjacent creatures I've read before. I've also made a GoodReads Shelf with more books, as some lovely people from SaphLit (a sapphic bookclub you should definitely join!) contributed. I haven't read the ones that aren't here, though!
The Deepwater Bride, by Tasmyn Muir
If you're a veteran of queer books, you've probably heard of Tasmyn Muir! She's the author of The Locked Tomb Series, which starts with Gideon The Ninth and is about gay necromancers in space! It's a wonderful series, but before she sat down to write that, Ms. Muir penned this novellete, which is featured in the July/August 2015 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.
This is a more Lovecraftian take on aquactic creatures. The Deepwater Bride follows a young girl who can see the future, and the weird things that begin happening in her small town. All the while she's falling in love (with a girl, duh)!
This one will give you Ms. Muir's traditional cheeky style, which includes phrases such as the iconic "the drowned lord who dwells in dark water will claim you. the moon won't rise tonight, and you'll never update your Tumblr again". Not to mention, it's a quick read, and still takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride that will leave you wanting more.
Aquicorn Cove, by Katie O'Neill
Another quick read, Aquicorn Cove is the sweetest graphic novel you'll read. It's a middle grade, but like Ms. O'Neill's other work (The Tea Dragon Society, which you should also take a look at, by the way), this one can be enjoyed by all ages.
Aquicorn Cove follows Lana, a young girl who comes back to her family's seaside town to help clean up after a storm, and soon discovers the aquicorns - seahorse-like sea creatures. And, don't worry, there will be mermaid-like creatures as well!
This one is extra special because of how cute and fluffy it is - if you're looking for a nice, comforting read, look no further! Aquicorn Cove will fill your heart and make you feel warm and fuzzy inside!
The Girl From The Sea, by Molly Knox Ostertag
The Girl From The Sea is also a graphic novel! This one follows Morgan, a 15-year-old who terribly wants to leave the island she grew up on. But everything changes when she meets a selkie called Keltie, and her desire to leave seems to lessen...
What I really loved about this one was the introduction to the mythological figure of the selkie. It's so rarely seen in modern SFF and I thought it was lovely to see it here. Not to mention, the art is super sweet and it follows that queer first-love plot-line every gay person needs to read every once in a while. Definitely recommend!
Ice Massacre, by Tiana Warner
This is the first book in a trilogy I haven't completed yet, but this first one impressed me so much, I couldn't help but recommend. It follows Meela, who lives in the fictional Polynesian island of Eriana Kwai, which has been attacked mercilessly by mermaids. As a solution, the elders send groups of young men out to sea to try and kill them, but it hasn't been going well - the men fall prey to the mermaids' songs. Now, Eriana Kwai is trying out a different strategy - sending young women, and Meela is among them. But she might not be as immune to the songs as all the other girls are...
Ice Massacre is action-packed and is perfect if you're in need of a post-Hunger Games-revival fix. Most of the story follows the girls in the boat, as the situation progressively gets more and more dangerous, and it definitely feels like reading about Katniss in the arena. Although the story does skew a little younger, I do think it's a good read, and it had me totally hooked from start to finish!
The Deep, by Rivers Solomon
This is definitely the most interesting of the mix, and the one I recommend the most! The Deep follows an underwater, mermaid-like people, descendants of enslaved African women who were thrown overboard slaver ships. Because of their painful history, they have designated someone to hold one to their collective trauma: Yetu, a young mermaid, is their historian. But this role can be more draining then it seems, and Yetu might find herself wanting something else.
The world building in this novella is just so unique! And it draws you in. The writing is very atmospheric, making you feel like you're in the ocean (and I'm super scared of deep water, so that was a weird experience lmao). Not to mention, Mx. Solomon seemlessly weaves in themes relating to slavery and the Black experience, not to mention the queer representation. It's definitely a must-read!
“For Eternity”
Word count: 2,044
Chapter: 1/1
TW: DEATH AND BLOOD
Ever heard of the phrase, “once in a blue moon?”
You all should know by now what happens to the Robotnik family.
On a moonless night, the young hedgehog’s ship was attacked. Screams and yells of mobians and humans filled the air, accompanied by cannon fire and the clashing of swords.
These attacks were done by the Royal Navy themselves. But what would they want from an old scientist? Nothing probably, if the scientist wasn’t a rouge one. He ran away with his granddaughter, Maria, and his lab crew. He abandoned his role as a royal scientist to focus on the ill Maria, who grew worse by the month. But, what’s this? He also had a living secret project who also accompanied him? Now this is what the Royal Navy really wanted.
The young hedgehog and his sister hid in the deepest corner of Gerald’s study, surrounded by knocked off books and papers by the rocky ship. Above them was where Gerald was destroying his years of work. Burning papers and documents while smashing beakers containing colorful liquids. These actions were soon interrupted by the collapsing of the lab’s door. It was the captain of the Royal Navy. He grabbed Gerald by the collar, and dragged him out onto the main deck. He was surrounded by mostly men, but some large mobians were scattered. Gerald explained why he ran and pleaded for the mercy of his granddaughter. His words were loud enough for Maria and Shadow to hear below. But all went silent until the Naval Captain shouted “Aim.”
Maria knew what was happening next. She freed herself from Shadow’s grasp and scrambled out of the corner, running up to the main deck. Shadow yelled her to stop, struggling to follow her with his trembling legs. As soon as he reached the first step of stairs, *BANG.* He froze, making sure he was still alive. He then forced himself up the stairs and yelled for Maria. Laying there on the deck was his dead creator, punctured by multiple gunshots. The rain struggled to wash away the blood flowing from the body.
Shadow was able to stop staring at the corpse and looked up to see the Naval Captain holding Maria by her golden hair.
“LET HER GO!” Shadow said, trying to hold back the fear in his voice.
The captain ignored him but was intrigued to finally see what Gerald’s life was truly dedicated to. A small, dark, puny, hedgehog. With Maria still in his grasp, he raised his other hand and walked toward the front of the ship. His crew slowly walked towards Shadow with guns cocked and swords in hand. Shadow wasn’t ready for a fight. He never had proper training. Or even the courage. But for family? Anything. He slowly managed to form a green flaming spear from his hands. The crew was amazed and delighted to finally have an interesting fight. The Naval Captain was looking at the horizon but heard everything. The yelling of men, clanging swords, gunshots, the buzzing of the spear, and finally the thuds of bodies hitting the deck. He turned around seeing all his men lying dead, some still holding on to their weapons. All that was left was the small, thing, holding a spear, looking him dead in the eyes. Its red eyes pierced through him, glowing like the rest of its scattered red stripes on its body.
“I SAID. LET. HER. GO.”
The captain turned around facing Shadow. He was standing by the guard rails of the ship. Shadow moved a step closer but halted when the captain stopped turning around. His right arm was lifted over the edge, revealing the dangling girl.
“Save yourself.” Maria whispered.
Shadow froze again at the sight of his sister hanging from the captain’s grasp. He didn’t know what to do or what would happen if he did. He was trapped. He clenched the spear and was about to lunge himself at Maria to try to catch her. As soon as his eyes left Maria’s, the captain let go.
“Goodbye, Shadow.” Maria whispered again as she was descending towards the angry waters below.
“MARIA!!!!” Shadow shrieked. He was going to run but he couldn’t. He was too scared and overwhelmed by the sight of his sister disappearing. His whole body was shaking and his teeth were glued together. He was useless. He could’ve done something. He could’ve saved her. He was lifeless. Just a thing. A weapon. He destroyed life only for his to be taken.
Shadow was so consumed by his thoughts, that he didn’t realize the captain was out of sight. He then noticed a blur coming straight towards him. He quickly lunged his still fiery spear into it. He was saved. The captain’s pocket knife was inches from Shadow’s nose, but the spear was feet deep into his own chest. Pain and anger filled his eyes as he started slowly dying.
“You…will be..reminded of this pain…for eternity…” said the captain with a strained voiced. He quickly slashed his knife to Shadow’s right eye. Shadow yelled in pain as he covered his eye with his hand. With his last breath, the captain pulled out a vial of a light blue powder and broke it in front of Shadow with his bare hand. The powder was released into the air while the captain’s body slammed into the ground, finally dead. The storm ceased and behind the dark clouds was a large, bright moon, giving light to the corpse ridden ship.
Shadow now had both of his hands on his eye, trying to keep the blood at bay, whimpering and grunting. Unnoticed before him was the light blue powder, now a floating substance, wavering in circles. The bright moon slowly turned blue as the substance surrounded Shadow’s head. Then suddenly, the blue moon glowed and the air made a loud boom. Shadow released his hands from his bloody eye and watched as the light blue magic absorbed into it. This took the wind right out of him and make him fall to his knees. He could feel a stinging pain in the right eye but, at the same time, it was also soothing. He blinked a couple of times for the feeling to go away. He could see.
The blue moon dimmed until it was to its natural cream color. Everything was calm. No wind, no crashing waves. Just the creaking of the ship and the deep breaths Shadow took. He was the only living thing left. He should be dead. He should’ve been the one who was shot. He should’ve been the one to meet the sea. But he was there. Alive and alone. With nothing but a beating heart. Shadow was able to see himself in the pool of blood that was made by the dead naval captain. His eye was still there but it was only a light grayish, blue-ish color. Like a blind eye, but still seeing. There was no scar around the eye. Shadow slowly raised his hand close to his eye, but it stung him. He closed it to open it again and see it glowing a light turquoise blue. The iris was still black as the night. But what was truly different was that the eye was moving like the sea, drifting back and forth. And surrounding it, were big and small blue circles. They were swirling around the eye like tiny fish in a whirlpool. It was surprisingly beautiful and mesmerizing. The ocean waves started to knock against the ship, making the young hedgehog realize he was alone again. Just him. And the ocean.
The hedgehog hoped he’d never have to tell this story. Or be reminded of it.
But that changed on one starry night, years later, on a blue moon. It was the love of his life who listened to every word. A blue hedgehog, with emerald eyes, stared lovingly and worriedly at his cursed captain.
“I think I should stop there.” stated the hedgehog captain.
It was quiet between the two. Until the first mate broke the silence.
“May I see it?” He said. He believed his captain’s words were true. That his eye was beautiful and mesmerizing. But, he wanted to be the one who said it. To be the one who said it with his whole heart. And meant every word.
“Please, Shadow?” He begged again, setting his hand on his captain’s cheek, gently caressing it with his thumb.
Shadow was scared of what people might think of the true appearance of his eye. But seeing his first mate in front of him, didn’t make him feel nervous. He was calm. He even wanted to just melt as he looked at him. Shadow took in a small breath and removed his eyepatch. He tried not watch as his first mate’s eyes gradually grew wider, and mouth slightly agape. He was staring in awe and thought how the words “beautiful” and “mesmerizing” weren’t even close to what he was seeing. It was magnificent, stunning, charming, fascinating, handsome, hot, dazzling, ….wait what?
Shadow wanted to stop staring at the sea below them and look at his first mate’s eyes like he was doing to his. He took in another small breath and placed his head into his mate’s hand, closing his eyes. This made his first mate slightly jump, like he was woken from a trance. Shadow then held the blue hedgehog’s hand tightly, wishing he could never let go. He finally opened his eyes to meet his love’s.
“Do you still love me?” purred Shadow with slight worry in his words.
This took the blue hedgehog aback. Did he not know that he loved him? That he would do anything he asked even if he wasn’t his captain. He would even spend his only wish from the Master Emerald to always see his smile.
“For eternity. As for I, Sonic the Hedgehog, would always love and be there, for my captain.” Sonic proudly exclaimed as he took Shadow’s hands. Shadow chuckled as he shed a tear from his glowing eye.
“Woah, woah! I didn’t mean to make you cry, captain!” Sonic quickly leaned forwards to swipe the falling tear.
“You know you can stop calling me that right? We are alone-“ explained Shadow.
“As you wish, Shads.” Sonic said with a smug smile.
“I take that back.” Shadow rolled his eyes as he knew what he was getting into.
They both laughed as Sonic still had his hands holding Shadow’s face. He still couldn’t choose the word describing Shadow’s eye, but all he knew was that it truly was beautiful. He wanted to look at it everyday. To look at Shadow everyday. Just like how the Sun and Moon meet at sunrise and dawn to embrace in each other’s beauty. It was fate. Sonic gently pulled Shadow closer to meet his lips. He never wanted this taste to leave.
The cold night air shifted as the sun rose from the horizon. The warmth between the hedgehogs increased as the sun grew bigger behind them. They never wanted this to stop. Sonic was begging Chaos for a wish to never let his lips separate from Shadow’s. As for Shadow himself, oh yes. He felt the same. He never wanted to let go of Sonic’s hips, like a link to a chain. But, he needed to attend back to his ship and crew. It was morning and some might worry to realize that their captain, and his first mate, went missing overnight. Shadow let go of Sonic’s hips and tucked his hands under Sonic’s, making him let go of his face.
“Aww, it was just getting good…” Sonic whined as he made a pout.
“Heh, don’t get your quills up in a twist. I’m still here. But we have a ship to sail and a crew to look after. If we get our jobs done, then there will be plenty of time to continue this tonight.” Shadow explained as he began rowing the jolly back to the ship.
“YIPPEE!! I love my job.” Sonic put his hands behind his quills and laid back on the boat’s side. Shadow rolled his eyes again and sighed, releasing a chuckle.
“I hate you, hedgehog.”
“I love you too.”
i quite honestly believe that nobody is immune to making up bullshit
i don't even believe im immune to making up bullshit, or you, either
and when we make up bullshit, we can sometimes trick ourselves into thinking it's true
i want to use a particular comeback i heard a terf say as a sort of case study here to explain what exactly it is that leads people to making up bullshit
the bullshit im talking about here is "Only gunk comes out of trans women's breasts", said in retaliation to someone asserting that trans women's breasts can produce milk
this bullshit may sound reasonable to someone who has reason to believe in it. but it starts falling apart if you think about it past the surface level, or if you're a biologist. it just doesn't make any sense. firstly, what even is this 'gunk'? that's not a very scientific term. where does it come from? what's the difference in biology that causes this 'gunk'?
of course, there are no answers to any of these questions, because clearly whoever said this did not understand what they were talking about.
but why would someone lie like that? well, you could say it's just because it's a lie that can be used to argue for their side, and you wouldn't exactly be wrong in saying that, but i think it runs deeper than that. in fact, i theorize this person genuinely believed what she was saying, despite having just made it up. so how does that work exactly?
well i believe there's two major factors that went into convincing this person the thing she just made up was true, actually. the first is her existing worldview and beliefs, many such beliefs being socially conditioned from youth. it's bioessentialism, and the general belief that men and women are almost like different species, in mind and body. it's an understandable belief, honestly. i remember back before i cracked and i was just beginning to research about trans people. the fact that trans women grow breasts and don't just have them inserted with surgery was a fact that blew me away. i honestly didn't even believe it at first. it felt too out there to be true. but it's true. male and female bodies just aren't as different as society conditions you to think they are. another fact i found kind of amazing is just how little differences there are between males and females before puberty. the differences are literally so minor. i thought there would've been more. but like, it makes sense, we're all made from human wombs. men aren't from mars and women aren't from... uh... uranus? i honestly forget the phrase.
this social conditioning very likely played a big part in how this person came to believe in their own lie. because the lie simply fits with their existing worldview, ideas that have likely been put into their head since a very young age. and when they learnt that trans women can objectively grow their own breasts, their mind must've jumped to "There is no way they're the same as a cis women's".
and there's another reason. im not gonna talk about this one as much, it's quite a simple reason. it's because she likely wanted to believe it. along with bioessentialism a thing a lot of terfs seem to carry with them is a sort of specialness to women, if that's a word. it's probably not. the belief isn't exclusive to terfs either. it's a kind of opposite to the commonly held beliefs that men are the special ones. now, i want to clarify here, this is not me saying that women can't be special, but i've noticed a lot of terfs seem to romanticize certain very normal traits commonly seen in women, like child birth, or being connected to the moon (which is actually false btw, women have no connection to the moon, id love to explain to you in depth how this falsehood spawned and grew in popularity, but this post is already long enough). honestly, im not entirely against these kinds of beliefs, though they are a little strange to me. and they likely played a role in how this particular terf convinced herself her lie was truth. because she wanted to. because she likely sees breastfeeding as one of these special unique female traits that men could never do, and since she sees trans women as men, and then learns that trans women can actually breastfeed, too. her mind probably rejected the idea outright.
now of course this is still just a theory, im no mind reader. but putting the pieces together, i find it likely that a mix of a socially conditioned worldview where her lie makes sense, and reason to want to believe her lie, were both major factors in her making up bullshit, and then believing in her own bullshit. she spread misinformation to herself, how fun.
now, i want to come back to the beginning of this post. i may have just spent an unnecessarily long time dissecting why someone might possibly have believed in their own lie, but the point of this post im trying to make is that this can be you, too.
sure, maybe you're not a terf. maybe. but i really do believe that anybody is capable of making up bullshit under the right circumstances. even me. maybe what im saying right now is bullshit, after all, im still only speculating here.
sure, the worldview and beliefs that may have tricked this particular person aren't great. but any set of beliefs could do the same, even if they're 'correct' beliefs.
things exist in this world that could make your beliefs look wrong, no matter what they are. the world doesn't twist itself to anyone's worldview. and sometimes, when we're put under certain circumstances, our worldview, our beliefs, and whatever reasons we have to want to believe something, they can lead you to making up bullshit and tricking your mind into thinking it's true.
so please, think about where you got the facts you state from.
and you know, this post was just supposed to be about making up bullshit, but ive realized this relates to more than just making up facts, it relates to believing in facts. how some things can go unchecked due to our biases, how we can look needlessly for anything that affirms our beliefs. and nobody's immune to this. nobody. we're all susceptible to our own biases. and that's why we need to look out for them. admit that you're biased, admit that you're emotional, and maybe then you can work through your biases to an extent.
ultimately, i could've just started this post off like that. "We're all BIASED and we must ADMIT to ourselves we are BIASED to work through them! thANKS FOR READINGGGG!!!!!! :-DDDDD" the post could've been that simple, but i extended it out to an absurd amount of words. eh, whatever. i enjoyed dissecting that particular case of bullshit. hopefully someone gets something out of this unnecessarily long post.
just checking in, i hope your july has been going well!! 😚🫶🏻✨️💕 it's been raining and storming where i am but i think we're finally getting some sunshine
a mister dobyne for u 🤏🏻
Tumblr media
oh boy, it's finally a glorious, rainy day off for me here, and after several (very nice) demands for more Jimmy content, I'm gonna drop another drabble. Sadly, it is mostly just another tease because there's a lot of story setup and development that Mr. Dobyne and his professor need to go through. This is ROUGH in an editing sense, gang, and I'm sorry I can't be pumping out several thousand words a day for you. You know I wish I could! Instead, please enjoy the brief buildup to some naughty, dirty deeds in the Hamptons... WC 799 (see Common Education Masterlist)
Tumblr media
Kelly is being flirtatious by the beach bonfire. You can’t blame her. Jimmy is a good-looking man sat beside her on a slightly chilly evening in the Hamptons. She’s twenty-years-old. You likely would shoot your shot as well…if you weren’t his professor. Jimmy is, however, closer to your age than Kelly’s and not even remotely paying attention to her.
His gaze is locked on the dancing flames and spitting embers. He looks lost, not only in thought but in purpose. He’s trying—he is really, really trying—to be a student in the traditional sense, to be social and spontaneous, but that’s just not Jimmy Dobyne. It’s written all over his faraway face: I don’t belong here. I don’t like this.
Someone shrieks about skinny-dipping, and the lot all strip like the wind is punishing them for every second’s delay, all except you and Jimmy. Neither of you are even the oldest out here. Some PhD fellahs working as TAs have been hanging around all weekend.
Kelly, skinny little thing she is, jumps into the sand beside Jimmy, knocking him out of his reverie. He’s startled to find her bare-breasted in front of him and begging for company.
You’re not sure you’d blame him if he chose to go. This is one of those quint-essential, youthful rights of passage—or so you’ve heard and read about—but he passes. Jimmy says ‘no’ as politely as possible to the half-naked twenty-year-old pouting over her dangling, perky tits.
You sit as shocked as Kelly, but the girl runs off the the water after shoving down her shorts and thong to moon you and Jimmy, the only two left by the fire.
The group is loud in the softly cresting waves. The echoes take away very few of the vulgar and stupid phrases they all shout at each other while limbs get accidentally or purposefully groped in the dark. It’s as unappealing as you thought it would be. Your grimace shows.
“You wanna go for a walk?” Jimmy’s voice cuts through your disgust.
Not disgust, actually, but not jealousy either. You realize the sinking feeling in your gut is mainly frustration that the kind of self-confidence and indifference to shame is wasted on the young.
“Teach?” Jimmy tries again.
“Yeah,” you jump up, “yeah, that would be nice.”
He walks along the sand with his hands in his pockets, and in the dim moonlight you are struggling to see. His footing is sure, his bare soles rough enough to easily traverse the sharper, grittier sands toward the dune line. You fumble around in the dark, almost toppling when your step sinks unexpectedly to the left.
Jimmy grabs your hand. “I gotcha.”
You grip him and try to correct but fail.
“Woah, girl,” he soothes.
“Jimmy, I’m not a horse,” you snip back, on the verge of laughing.
His other hand steadies your elbow, and he waits for you to get upright again. “No—“ you can hear the smile in his voice “—but y’are as stubborn as a mule.”
Giggling breaks past your lips, inevitable as the waves.
“Flattering,” you mumble and hope the sea-breeze takes the word.
“True” comes the firm reply. “There’s a spot to sit right up there,” Jimmy offers, leading you to a flat rock.
He can’t possibly have planned it, but the moon sits just above his head as you look up at him, light shining through his short, blowing hair.
You can still hear the louder, playful screams from the water, but the noise melds into the roar of the ocean well.
“Beautiful,” he says after a long moment.
“It is a nice night…”
Jimmy snorts. “For someone so smart…Wish you would listen to me like I listen to you.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t hear anything else over the wind. Did you—“
His lips capture yours, leaning you back down almost flush with the rock, his knee by your hip as one big palm braces your head, the other bracing his (and your) weight. His words get rougher with the added scratching of your nails along the the back of his shirt.
“Ya goddamn know I want ya, Teach—“ and that’s evident by the hard bulge pressed to your thigh “—wanted ya to claim me in front of that girl. Can’t have her thinkin’ she’s got a chance around you.”
You would say he’s drunk, but you’ve watched him have one solitary beer the whole night. He hasn’t been staring though; he’s barely looked at you the whole night, and suddenly it dawns on you that Jimmy ‘Subtlety’ Dobyne spent all those hours ‘lost in thought’ thinking of you.
From the way he moves, with precision and purpose, he’s been specifically thinking of what to do with your body (and his) at the first opportunity.
Tumblr media
A/N:...and then, they fuck obvi, and we WILL get there, I promise. Two POTS of passionfruit green tea later and I am screeching like a banshee for these two. It's going to happen. Thank you @whiskeytangofoxtrot555 for the gentle nudge! I really am sorry I haven't produced much lately.
Alright this is gonna be wordy and a little all over the place but I love seven so much I will never pass an opportunity to talk about it (this is the first anon, btw)
first, I love anything piano based (my fav insturment <3) and I'm also a big fan of Taylor's head voice.
I think seven is the most unique song she's ever written. In terms of production, lyrics, storytelling and the subject of the song. She's never written anything remotely like this and probably never will. I don't think I've heard anything like it from any other artist as well. The song has a certain type of wisdom in it that everyone knows but few can articulate so beautifully.
I love the fact the production sounds like summer. I wish I had more knowledge in music to properly explain it, but something about that piano-based upbeat melody really takes you back in time to your first summer vacation from school.
I'm a big fan of words, storytelling and poetry so the main reason I love it so much is the lyrics
The "please picture me in the trees" to "please picture me in the weeds"
"I hit my peak at seven" and the little pause before "feet in the swing" because it's both literal and metaphorical. She swung so high she reached seven feet (obviously not really, but she was a kid and they only speak with hyperboles), but she also peaked emotionally at that age - she was the freest she's ever been, a ferocious child not bound by expectations and social norms and voices that implore she should be doing more. Everything in this sing is both literal and metaphorical.
I am so in love with the lyric "are there still beautiful things?" I want to tattoo it. I feel like this lyrics is the thesis of The Catcher In The Rye and I enjoyed the book and I love it when works of literature parallel. It's one of the most relatable lines she's written becasuse are there still beautiful things? Is there anything beautiful in adulthood? Is there still beauty in the world when you can no longer swing so high you fly above your hometown, or when you realize that fairytales and prince charming don't exist? When your life expand beyond the simplicity of drinking sweet tea and braiding your friend's hair, could you ever find this simple, unfiltered joy again?
I have a tattoo referencing "I love you to the moon and to saturn" it's just a very wholesome lyric.
I think knowing Taylor and what she's being through helps appericate this song more because "I used to scream ferociously anytime I wanted" hits different when it comes from the woman who had to sit quietly and politely, and be a good girl as people made jokes on her expense. It's also something she talks about in Marjorie, "Never be so polite, you forget your power / Never wield such power, you forget to be polite" I love the way this part of the song is phrased, the fact it's both "please picture me running through the fields as a child" and "when I was a child I could throw a tantrum in the grocery store". (I just love when Taylor does this, like with the line "your hometown skeptics called it - champagne probelms" it tickles something in my brain). She wants to be remembered in her freest form, rather than what she was forced to grow up into.
And then, obviously, there is the verse discussing child abuse. I know that spoke to many people and I find it beautiful.
I love that even this story within the song helps demonstrate her naïvete. She was so young, she couldn't fathom the idea that a father could be cruel to their child, she had to find another reason and the most logical one was ghosts. And that brings me back to "are there still beautiful things?" because when she was a child the thing that bothered her the most was whether snow white's house is near or far away, and now the questions she asks herself are more like "will I survive this?" "Would they believe me if I come forward?" "Will it be ok?" There is no going back once you learn and experience these kind of things.
I'm obsessed with "I think you should come live with me and we could be pirates, then you won't have to cry" because a. I love pirates and b. It's just so adorable! This lyric makes me wanna eat drywall.
I also really love "though I can recall your face, I still got love for you // just like a folk song, our live will be passed on" It's been so long since she's seen her friend she doesn't actually remember them but this love is still deep inside her and it's passed down onto everything, it's in the sky and in the trees and in the sun. It's the kind of love that never fades. I especially like when she sings "and just like a folk song, out love will be passed on" because I really love the way she sings it.
I've had a blast writing this lol
and i had a blast reading it! thank you so much for sharing, you articulated all of this very beautifully and i think captured why so many fans love it. hugs to you anon :*
Twisted Tonelico (A Twisted Wonderland x Ar Tonelico Tale) pt. 4
Tumblr media
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4(End of Book 00)
Book-Prologue Phase 00:  Zenva ryushe tes gyas gyenel ciel
A little girl of eight years opened her eyes. She woke up to see herself in her bedroom, surrounded by her favorite plush toys. The room was an off white color, with sprinkles of Mauve colored flowers and butterflies on the walls. There was a mauve colored circle carpet near the bed. Her bed was fairly big for her age, designed a bit off leveled to make her comfortable.
A knock came at the door followed by a voice. “Meryu~. You up?~ Time for breakfast!!”
“Coming,~” little Meryu yawned.
She got up from her bed, and went to get ready for the day.
Meryu came to the dining room. It was a simple styled room, with semi pillar wall protrusions; the color of brass to contrast the pale lavender walls and ceiling. The dining room table was a burgundy set; decorated formally for a well off  family to enjoy. Or in this case, a young girl and her main guardian, one who oversees all of Sol Ciel.
Little Meryu looked to the head and saw her guardian greeting her formally at the table. She was a young girl, who looked no older than fifteen. Her hair was long, down to mid back with two braids on separate sides in her hair. And two golden outlet-like hair pieces protrude atop her head. She may look youthful; however, contrary to her appearance, she’s over seven-hundred and thirty nine years of age. This woman is Lady Eolia, also known as Shurelia. An Origin Reyvateil of  the Tower of Ar Tonelico.
“Good morning, Meryu,” Lady Shurelia said.
“Morning, Lady Syureli,” the little girl replied, rubbing her eyes away from sleep.
“Did you sleep well last night?” A nod was her answer. “Good. Now come and eat, ok?”
Meryu did as she was told, and came to sit beside her guardian and eat. Every morning was always the same. So simple yet so comforting. All Meryu knew of the world was her guardian and the enormous Tower they resided on above the dreaded Cloud Sea. It was lonely at times when Shurelia had to leave for her administrative duties, but she didn’t mind as she allowed Meryu to accompany her in her duties.
The silence slightly bothered Meryu as there is usually commotion coming from the people of Platina in the palace. She didn’t mention it out loud, but she looked up to see Shurelia, only for the Origin to be gone. Meryu, now her age of nineteen, panicked as the world shifted to the garden park within the Tower. She looked around frantically, wondering what was happening. She ran til the sound of galloping hit her ears. The girl turned, coming face to face with an all black chariot and its two steeds ascending upon her-
Meryu jumped up out of her sleep, breathing heavily. Her blood was still ringing in her ears as she woke up from her nightmare.
“MS. MELENAS!! YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN!! FOLLOW MY BREATHING, OK!!”
She took shallow breaths before following along with whoever beside her ordered to do. After a few minutes, Meryu’s breathing had even out enough for her to process where she was.
Despite being nighttime, she appeared to be in a recovery room of sorts thanks to the light of the moon showing through the open windows. Beside her were the Headmage and a… ghost wearing a nurse’s hat? Oh, I’m still in this strange world, She whispered in her mind. Meryu looks down at her hands in her lap, disappointed at not being home with Shurelia.
Dire Crowley sighed in relief. “Thank goodness you have awakened! You collapsed after you sang your little… song in the Mirror Chamber, so I feared that you may have exhausted yourself.”
“...I…collapsed?” she raised a hand to her head.
Rrha ki erra chs diasee yorr sos ciel
Meryu’s head began to pound when she heard that phrase echo again.
Both men beside her panicked. “Ms. Melenas!”
“I-I fine, sir. I promise.” she waved away their concerns. Clearing her throat, Meryu asked: “You said I collapsed?”
“Yes,” Dire responded. “I’m not sure how since it happened so fast. I ordered some of the staff to bring you after to make sure you were alright.”
“I see…” Nervously, the girl asked. “So, what happens now? What will happen to me since I cannot go back?”
“Since you cannot return home at this moment, I will provide you with a living space until then.” This news shocked Meryu. “Of course, since you aren’t assigned to any dorm, you will need to earn your keep.” Oh… so there’s a catch.
She gives the Headmage a nod. “Ok.” And gets up from the bed, slightly stumbling at first. The ghost nurse helps to keep her steady, and she thanks him for the assistance. “So, Mr. Crowley. Where will I be staying for now?”
~To Ramshackle Dorm~
“Oh my…”
Meryu was left speechless, or rather, she was left bewildered. The place Dire Crowley offered for her to stay was a rundown, and supposedly abandoned dorm outside the main building. Webs dangled off tree limbs, wooden door blinds hanging on their last hinges, and splintered flooring as far as the eye can see.
As sweat dropped on her head as Meryu ‘thanked’ Crowley for the housing, she was surprised by him opening the doors to show her inside the abandoned dorm…
Only for Meryu to meet MORE ghosts who live IN the building!!
There were three ghosts, all varying in appearance in size and shape. they zoomed to the entrance, ready to scare. But, they also seemed excited about visitors coming by the rundown dorm.
She jumped at the sight, slightly hiding behind Crowley. “Are you alright, Ms. Melenas?There is nothing to be afraid of. They are quite harmless.”
The ghostly trio halted in their tracks. “Why hello, Headmage! Got fresh meat to bunk with us?~”
Said man cleared his throat. “I do indeed have a new student. However…” He stepped aside for the ghosts to meet Meryu, who waved at them nervously.
“Huh? A girl? In Night Raven College?” the thinly, slim ghost of the three said.
The other two, both round but different in stature, were shocked by their friend's statement. “Well that’s first!” The larger one laughed.
“This is Ms. Meryu Melenas. I do hope you three don’t mind her staying here for now.”
Meryu, still nervous, curtsied. “Hello, Mr. Ghosts. I’ll do my best to be a good roommate.”
The smaller ghost played along and bowed. “Aww! No need for formalities, Miss! I’m Albert, but you can call me Al.” He hikes a thumb to his two buddies. “Big Guy is Benedict, and this is Curtis!”
With introductions over, Crowley guides Meryu through some of the basics of the ‘Ramshackled’ Dorm, with the Ghostly trio adding their own commentary here and there. After familiarizing herself with the dorm, Meryu is shown the only available room that isn’t too messy for her to stay in. The room was-like everywhere else in the dorm- old and covered in dust. There was a bed in the center of the room upon entry, with a partially covered easel with a painting underneath on its right. A huge, rectangular shaped mirror sat high above the wall near the windows. The small rug, while dusty, seemed partially torn on the ground.
“This will be your living space for now,” Crowley said. “While it may not be much, I do not wish to have you alone on the streets. Aren’t I so generous!~”
The place has seen better days, but Meryu is fine with the accommodations- though she isn’t sure a gracious host would let ANYONE live in a place that would fall apart any moment. “Thank you again, sir.”
He and the ghosts bid her good night, leaving her alone with her thoughts. Soon she yawned. ‘Who knew I would get tired again. Then again, it has been quite a night…’ She gazes out the window to the moon above, wondering about her home, Sol Ciel. ‘I wonder if Lady Shurelia knows I'm gone?’ She shook head. ‘I shouldn’t think that! For all I know, this could’ve been a dream!’
Meryu plops down on her bed, dust flying into the air and in her nose. A sneeze later, and she continues to gaze up at the outside, watching the moon and stars shine before falling asleep once more.
Tomorrow is gonna be a new day, and an unexpected start for this lone Reyvateil from another world.
A Clash of Kings - 52 SANSA IV (pages 678-688)
Sansa gets her first period.
-
Sansa dug her nails into her hand. she could feel the fear in her tummy, twisting and pinching, worse every day. Nightmares of the day Princess Myrcella had sailed still troubled her sleep;
*recalls Sansa vs. nightmares of the bred riots (tv edition)*
Oh dear. I don't think that's fear in your tummy, sweetheart.
They had hemmed her in and thrown filth at her and tried to pull her off her horse, and would have done worse if the Hound had not cut his way to her side. (...) Try not to be afraid! he said.
Stop making me like you asshat! Ooooh, that's cheating! Sorry, I just, really like that he said try not to be afraid rather than don't be afraid. It just feels more comforting and less demanding on an already stressed young girl.
"Give your Florian a little kiss now. A kiss for luck." He swayed toward her. Sansa dodged the wet groping lips, kissed him lightly on an unshaven sheek, and bid him goodnight.
I'll give you a "kiss" *hefts steel chair* come here >:3
Turning back to the stair, Sansa climbed. The smoke blotted out the stars and the thin crescent of moon, so the roof was dark and thick with shadows.
I know I've been having fun with 'interpreting' the visions and dreams and stuff the past few chapters, but we do all (myself included) need to remember how hind-sighted visions are. In a narrative it's easy because the author often wants the events to tie together in a certain way, but even then there is always room for different interpretations.
Take for instance this chapter. We are being reminded multiple times that King's Landing is being bathed in smoke. King's Landing which is on a salt water coastline. Born of smoke and salt could now fit basically anyone in or around King's Landing at this point in time.
Case in point: Sansa has been weeping a lot (extra salt for the salt checkbox) because she's getting her first period (if I have my chapters and events correct) which is a "gateway" to womanhood in many cultures, and reflects more viscerally the idea "kill the boy and let the man be born" train of thought. If we wanted to do some crack takes, we could use this to say Sansa is Azor Ahai Confirmed.
She's not, probably, but we could say it.
Hell, Cersei could be Azor Ah-hoooo my gosh someone find a fic author and make that happen! X'D Azor Ahai!Cersei XD
... and just like that Sandor's made me dislike him again. He's so grumpy. And not in a fun way.
...Damn that's a violent period dream. For a second there I was kind of reminded of Dany's first vision through the doors, it was the "Women swarmed over her like weasels" I think, but the phrase from the vision described the men as "rattish"
Gods, Sansa is so terrified. First periods are always scary, even when you know what's going on because it's this change that you can't really wrap your head around until after, and for Sansa it's more than just that, it's another layer of illusionary safety being violently torn away from her.
Also, just as a point of interest, Blood is a Protein Stain. Cold water and a cake of your normal hand soap will remove most fresh stains from clothing and sheets, don't use hot water, warm to hot water actually makes fresh blood stains set. For older stains, glycerine can help to break them up, just dab a bit on the stain and give it a light scrub before washing with cold water and soap.
And when I say glycerine, I mean the stuff from your first aid kit for wound care, also called glycerin or glycerol. not the nitro for exploding stuff.
Queen Cersei laughed. "Wait until you birth a child, Sansa. A woman's life is nine parts mess to one part magic, you'll learn that soon enough... and the parts that look like magic are the messiest of all."
Not super looking forward to Cersei's POV's, cause I've heard things, and I would like to pretend she actually has some intelligence a little longer. Look at this scene. My gosh. For a moment there I almost thought Cersei gave a shit and was commiserating.
This woman has some opinions, and not all of them are complete trash, but damn she needs some therapy... but damn everyone in this series needs some therapy.
"Joffrey will show you no such devotion, I fear. You could thank your sister for that, if she weren't dead. He's never been able to forget that day on the Trident when you saw her shame him, so he shames you in turn. You're stronger than you seem, though. I expect you'll survive a bit of humiliation. I did. -"
So first of all, I understand that had Arya not been in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing, the situation would never have been possible BUT, consider for a moment, that it ALSO could have been avoided if Joffrey hadn't been such a piece of shit! So really he brought that shit on himself then made it everyone else's problem by being an insufferably self-absorb, overly entitled, rich little white bo-
... Joffrey isn't just a dude bro. He's Elon Musk with a violent streak.
I need a moment...
...
Where was I?
Second of all! Oh look, Cersei is Pro Cycles of Abuse. "I suffered so every one else should suffer too. It's equality UwU"
*Kicks Cersei off a tower* This. Is. SPARTA!!!!
Moon 401...
THE MOUNTAIN IS NO LONGER ALONE
Tumblr media
LEX -- CHILDISH 14 MOON OLD SHE-CAT -- PREGNANT ROGUE
Lex's breathing is heavier this high.
Of course, that was kind of the point of running this way. Plus, all these shooting stars seem to be directing her to scale this mountain, and that seems auspicious enough to her. Though she can admit her paws hurt far too much for her to brave this path again soon. She hopes the Splitshatter Mountain has prey. Last she heard, from a friend of a friend, it was haunted. Which is stupid. Ghosts aren't real, and there isn't a clan on this mountain to talk her ears off about Starclan. Maybe the hauntedness would keep him off her back.
Lex wheezes and rests against a boulder, eyes drooping from exhaustion. This is going well, really, but she isn't used to all this extra weight. She swears she must be carrying twelve kits because her mother never said she and her siblings were THIS HEAVY. Her paws find an ancient path once she shoves off that boulder, the moonlight on her shoulders urging her to follow it. So she does.
It's pitch black as she treads the worn indent in the hardpacked dirt. The moon shimmers behind the mountain, and the stars seem ever more distant in the thick shadows. A snap from behind her causes her to whip her head, but when her eyes scrape the darkness behind her, she sees no one. Ghosts still aren't real, so she turns back to the path and starts moving faster for fun and not the sizzling uneasiness rising on her pelt.
The stretch of rocky terrain between the split sides of the mountain are lush with little hidden dens, Lex finds. She wonders why no one lives up here, as its obvious cat paws scraped into these stones and slapped mud down to weatherproof each little alcove. Who would bother making dens and just abandon them? That's weird. Lex doesn't have much tome to admire the craftwork though, because those annoying clannies from the base of the mountain stride confidently out from the shadows and into the blade-sharp stretch of moonlight Lex had sat in.
She faces the battle patrol, her heart sinking like a rock. There are seven well-trained warriors, and she's a young, heavily pregnant molly. Lips trembling, she opens her maw. Before a single syllable could fall out, the patrol's eyes blow out like Lex was a mountain lion. The tall, broad silver tabby in the front takes a step back, mouth falling open in shock and horror. Lex doesn't move. Lex doesn't move, not even when she feels a whisper-light claw settle on her shoulder and a muscular cat's neck stretch forward just out of her periphery, not even when a crackling, decrepit voice hisses in a language Lex doesn't understand. Luckily--or maybe unluckily?--Lex can read lips, and ehe can tell some goober in the back of the patrol translated the phrase and mouths it breathlessly, a simple "BE GONE".
There is a tense moment, before the handsome tabby twists like a fresh kit and barrels back down the mountain. His posse follow after a second. Once she can't hear their scrabbling claws, Lex makes to turn, but the pressure at her shoulder grows suddenly and she falls forward, head slamming against the ground and knocking her out.
She awakes the next evening, alone. The moon is bright enough to permeate the crevasse, so Lex is perfectly able to see the three trembling newborns set at the edge of flat ground. Silver and black, like that tabby tom. With curious, confused eyes she stalks forward. She hardly notes that she must have slept for almost a full day, the tiny scraps of fur are much more interesting. The second the kits smell milk, they begin mewling and pawing around. "Well," Lex murmurs as she pulls the little pathetic things to her belly, "I can't leave you here. Let's hope that was a bad dream. I was kinda tired."
Her head bends down to lick each kit clean, and she names them. Whisper, Spore, and Rubble. Whisper, because the wind through the split seems to whisper like chatty cats. Spore, for their dozens of little spots. And Rubble, for the, uh... rubble around here, and how rugged this little kit already seems to be.
As Lex's head rises, she doesn't notice the way five bright stars frame her silhouette. They crowd in the sky nearest to her, shifting in such a way one must assume they had always been there. The kits cannot see and cannot comment on this, but the shadows know. And as the moon makes its way across the sky the shadows deepen, even as Lex carries each kit into the biggest cave between boulders, moss growing thick in a bed across the ground. The four settle, and as Lex rests her eyes, the mountain seems to shudder.
There is no clan, but the mountain is not alone anymore.
