This Week in BL - There's so much airing even I'm struggling to keep up

That's why I'm late.

Aug 2023 Wk 3

Ongoing Series - Thai

Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 6 of 8 - Oh no. I am totally in love with the escaped young master & his smitten bodyguard. How did that happen? (Be careful P’Thee the broken ones are the most tempting. Tin understands.) NO SINGING! Trust Thai BL to destroy any moment of sentiment I might have by picking up a damn guitar. And we finally get Charn’s Batman villain origin story. Good use of back hug! This is a GREAT show. Melodramatic as fuck, but GREAT. Gotta say this pair in NOT Thailand’s best kissers but not everyone can be Zee++. Still I think that + singing + a touch of overacting is likely to keep this out of the 10/10 club.

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 1 of 12 - Rich /poor dynamic with characters & set up exactly as expected. Chimon is great. Perth is good too. A real rich-kid bully, Heirs level or Japanese F4 evil. All the teachers are also corrupt (that’s kinda a Thai thing, I think because they can't call out the government). I gotta say, Marc is doing a bang-up job as the jock friend, too. And the kiss twist was fun. All in all, this is good. And you know me, I love a high school BL.

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Sat YT) ep 1 of 12 - The time travel historical romance many of us have been waiting for. Adaption of y-novel by Violet Rain, from the producers of Lovely Writer. Heartbroken architect is transported to the 1930s. Nonkul (actor playing Jom) keeps reminding me of Cho Han Gyeol from Love Mate. It’s a bit slow to start but interesting when it hits its stride. The pacing feels like a Chinese historical (makes me wonder if this with be 4 or 6 act structure). Nonkul is a wonderful actor. They weren’t sharing the screen for long, but the leads seem good together. I’m in.

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 2 of 10 - Well. It’s entertaining, I'll say that for it. Addiction. Manipulation. Queer as folk & all that jazz. (No jazz for you, Thailand. Oh no! I’m giving them ideas.) I would like it to turn out that Mew is actually manipulating everything. This is his revenge con on Top. Mew is, after all, supposed to be "the smart one." Gotta say, this is darn near perfect casting. But honestly? This show could just be about Ray & Sand. Their story (and them in it) is easily the most riveting. Sand better be careful, the wildly broken ones are always the best in bed, because they don’t care ao they have no shame and that's HOT.

Hidden Agenda (Sun GMMTV YouTube) ep 6 of 10 - I like how soft Joke’s version of seme flirting is. It’s mellow, like his voice gets with Zo. I also liked Zo casually chatting to his friends about how he feels about being flirted with. His friends gave good advice & were supportive. Oh no! A boy in a BL went into the rain ALONE. What ON EARTH will happen next? The argument was interesting, because it gave us insight into Zo’s maturity & ability to handle a relationship. I’ve been wondering why anyone would like him, and now I know. Joke & Nita’s backstory is fun. I like the gay boy protecting the straight girl reverse beard action. On a complete aside, I really like Dunk’s makeup in this series. It’s very Kdrama.

Low Frequency (Sat iQIYI) ep 7 of 8 - The house ghosts trying to help are cute. The plot is at least... a plot? I don’t know. Dias Ex Mafia is a new one on me. (COME ON THAT’S A GREAT PUN, PRAISE ME!) I’m ready for this show to be over.

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 7 of 12 - Honestly, the whole time I’m watching this I’m just thinking I wish JaFirst got better scripts. Speaking of, I don’t object, but these characters sure moved into sex fast. I really don’t quite understand how Daddy & Hot Doc got together so fast either. It feels like their story was meant to be spread out into the other episodes but didn’t get cut in properly, so it ended up all in this one? Or is it just the pacing is particularly bad in this show?

Dinosaur Love (Sun iQIYI) ep 8 of 10 eps - I have no idea what is going on. What are all of Dino’s friends doing? What do they want? what’s their point in the story? I’m even annoyed by Peak, and love him. Sex scene which they tried to make sexy. Operative word being tried. Although, there was some interesting after sex discussion about mechanics. And there was a cute bathtub chat about pet names. But this show is a lotta work for very little pay out.

Wedding Plan (Wed YT & iQIYI) ep 5 of 7 - I like the sunshine sides? PUNCH LOM 2023! Trash watch here!

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 1 of 10 - Pushy older bro is Earn from Love Sick, yay! And he’s the hyung of a side couple, which is "best friend’s older brother" trope! My favorite!!!! Have we seen this in BL before? I don't think so. Anyway, DOUBLE YAY! The main couple… eh. You know I loathe stalker characters. And I viscerally HATE this one. Almost as bad as SCOY, not sure I can take it, actually. The squealing of "Tammy!" is worse on my ear than any off-key guitar strumming. I may have to DNF or fast forward through all his parts… but he’s the lead. What to do? I do like the “Chinese” businessman actor. He very cute. (On an aside, I was just reading about commercial real estate as the loophole for foreign property investors in Thailand. Cool plot point.) I’m getting a Taming of the Shrew vibes from this. Just me? For now it's living at the bottom of the list for sheer unadulterated loathing of Phumjai. Not the actor, he was my favorite and only good thing about Our Days. But this character? NO.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 5 of 8 - This is basically the gay Boys Over Flowers of my heart. Or as close as I think we’ll get from BL. I like both of the 2nd leads, even though I suspect Simon of actually being into everyone’s fav hyung. Cute to see the Mr Heart boys back on my screen, oh so briefly. Such a Taiwan trick, reusing a beloved couple like that. Nice gimmie to the fans. Meanwhile, Choi Jun - boy sure knows his angles but his motives? Please don’t let this be another arranged marriage beard situation? I can’t take 2 in the same month.

Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 8 of 10 - The boyfriends ep! JC is biggest simp spoiling his baby EVER. Taiwan = the sappiest of saps. “Owning the same key” is such a cute way of putting it. Also I love the "knew all along" twist, made me happy. The angst is silly but that's normal in Taiwanese BL.

Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 3-4 of 10 - Pair 1: Lee Hyun is such a wide-open, bleeding, no-shame romantic. It’s kinda great. Boy has a poet’s soul & NO artifice. J-Min is startlingly good, very nuanced. I know I keep saying that, but I’m v surprised by his skillz. And… add in creepy stalker, goody. Pair 2: The "other student couple" I’m not into, also NO SINGING. Pair 3: The underwear gift was so fucking funny. “I’m going reap the boxers I sewed” is next level script excellence. These two are brilliant at gayest-of-gay flirt-negging, I'm INTO IT. One of my housemates said, in response to my audible cackling, "You seem to be enjoying your shows extra much tonight."

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 2 of 8 - Oh I love love love them. It’s so old school yaoi and SO JBL. No other country could produce this kind of show. I love this little feminist aspect where the weatherman treats his boy like a 1950s housewife & said boy thinks that makes him an indentured servant. Clocks. But also, the way our weatherman LOOKS at his boy. He is so in love. (It looks like we skip next week for holiday reasons?)

Sing My Crush (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 8 - It remains enjoyable.

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 6 of 12 - At least we know Minato actually desires Shin, he just won’t do anything about it. Also, Minato chose the perfect person to come out to. That's nice for him. Finally, Shu & Asuka are glorious. Sides are winning these days.

Stay Still (Hong Kong Tues YouTube) ep 3 of 5 - A proper faen fatal has entered one of our couples. She won too, since she ended up marrying the boy. Still not sure about this show (and it should have convinced me by now). I definitely like the tattoo couple better than the reunion couple. Still, not a lot happened in this episode and this is short series, they don’t have time to waste. It remains intriguing but not... erm... good.

In case you missed it

River Knows Fish Heart is leaving Gaga soon. It's a decent little bully romance Chinese BL (pulp) - yes, you read that right. Actual CBL. Not great, but if you're into the CBL stuff, especially the early stuff, this has some of that tenor only made in 2018 (I have a feeling it was shot in 2017 and skated through). Anygay, just staying. Catch it before it disappears because with CBL once they gone, often, they gone forever.

Friend. Boy Friend a new Thai BL pulp was supposed to start airing on Aug 19th. I can't find it. Neither can MDL.

Next Week Looks Like This:

Everything from Thailand seems to be dropping on Sat & Sun this month. It's a good thing I got quiet weekends for a while. Also the BL firehose is upon us, so much content.

8/22 Kisseki: Dear to Me formerly known as Miracle (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) 13 eps - From screenwriter Lin Pei Yu (We Best Love, H3: Trapped) features a student doctor forced to take care of a gangster. I love the premise and like the writer.

8/23 Why R U? (Korean remake iQIYI) 8 eps - I find everything about this hilarious. I mean if Korea remakes it, we lose all the sexy and then... would we have a story at all? No we would not. Not even for 8 short eps. It’d be like one of those mesh shopping bags.

8/24 Man Suang (Thailand movie, domestic cinema release) - historical drama about Thai burlesque with KP’s MileApo.

Hey Lovelies, I'm late again, but I'm kinda glad today. Do you know why? Well, because sometimes there are only so many things we can do in a day. Sometimes all we can do is get up in the morning, and feed ourselves, and the rest of the day is a bust.

Sometimes all we do is work, and we can't remember to drink water or take our pills. Sometimes we can do a lot! Sometimes we can do all the things.

So just remember, whatever YOU did today is enough, okay? You're making progress, bit by bit in whatever you're dealing with right now, and it doesn't have to happen all at once. Look at what you did today, and be proud of yourself because you made a huge, or a tiny step forward, and that is STILL A STEP FORWARD, and you can be proud of yourself for that.

One of the hardest things that I struggle with is that I have started to understand my own boundaries, and my own limits-- and sometimes other people don't respect those (none of you, don't worry). There's going to be people in this life, sometimes people close to you, who are supposed to be supportive, but they're dealing with their own struggles and sometimes try to push you past your boundaries for their own sake.

This is just a gentle reminder, that even if THEY tell you that you/what you're doing isn't good enough, that's absolutely NOT true, okay lovelies? You are doing enough. You are going at your own pace, and that is perfectly acceptable, and absolutely necessary for you to keep going.

Don't destroy yourself for their piece of mind. You deserve better than that. Go at your own pace. You're doing great. Be proud of yourself-- I'm proud of you. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday/Early Saturday Lovelies. Take care okay?

Moonlight Chicken Ep 8 (Finale) Stray Thoughts

This brings us to the end of finale week, and I couldn't ask for a better show to close us out.

Yesterday, Alan opted to stay with his family instead of compelling Wen to take care of him. Also, Jim and Wen went on a cute date..Jam came to the house to tell Li Ming that she wants to remarry and also wants to be a mother to him now. Li Ming did not want any of this at all because they have never been close, she didn't raise him, and be doesn't want her making decisions for him.

Meanwhile, Jim accidentally outed Li Ming to his mom as Jim struggled with his own fears and insecurities about Li Ming. He and Jam had a not-great conversation about it, and so Jim went to talk to Wen about it. Wen gave Jim some perspective, and Jim gave Wen probably the best sniff kiss we've seen in a very long time.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Hong passed away, and we spent the back half of the episode on her funeral. Khaotung destroyed us with his performances, and the funeral opened up all of the characters to think about where they are. Li Ming and Jim reconciled. Jim cleared things with Alan, who met Gaipa at the funeral. Heart and his family came to the funeral. Jim finally decided to let go of the restaurant and set down his burdens.

We just started and I'm already crying! Jim feels so much lighter now that the restaurant and Li Ming aren't weighing him down. He's also finally acting like a gay uncle. He's helping guide Jam away from Li Ming and assuring her he'll help his nephew.

Chapter 8: The Self-made House and Home

It's such a relief to see Li Ming comfortable around Jim again.

Big fan of the "Person's for Men" hoodie.

I love Wen. I want to be this bold in love.

Fourth has incredible chemistry with Lookwa. I get why they paired them twice. Jam has had a messy romantic history her son has witnessed. I get why she values his approval.

There are so many people like Gaipa, who went on to get degrees that they don't necessarily get to use. I don't think they should be ashamed of the lives they've built.

I like that Wen and Gaipa never turned nasty with each other over Jim.

This party was so sweet. Saleng is being that cousin again. Li Ming taught Heart how to cut chicken. Wen made fuck-me eyes at Jim. Jim basked in the warmth of his little family.

I like how double-speak is a constant character trait of Alan's.

Heart's mom is really trying. I'm glad they told her about the school Heart wants to attend.

Heart and Li Ming are so adorable that it almost hurts. Fourth is all about kissing the homies.

I see Earth and Fourth aren't just gonna give me a break. "When did you know yourself?" is really the question. I don't mind Li Ming not answering, but the way he answers tells me he always knew about his uncle and chose to live with him because he didn't want to figure himself out with anyone else. I'm so glad Jim reiterated that there's nothing wrong with him, even as Li Ming gives the kid answer that getting money is more important.

That hug from behind? I think that was inspired by all of the GMMTV actors hugging Aof that way. Gosh, Fourth is really a special talent.

Big fan of this last minute complication in Wen's promotion.

The "Welcome Back Foam Fest" shirt is foreshadowing Tinn's fantasy in My School President.

First and Khaotung are so powerful. They sailed an entire ship in two scenes.

Kinda like the idea of Jim with a food truck.

Oh, I'm crying because of Mark Pakin again. Leng got the necklace back, and is working well enough that Praew can focus on carrying for their son, Jason.

Jim took Wen to meet his sister's new family and called him boyfriend. Wen is giddy in his seat over it.

I said this earlier, but Lookwa and Fourth work so well together. I like how she immediately tried to use sign to thank Heart. You can see her making the decision to get the money for Li Ming to go with Heart to America.

They really did the thing with Heart and Li Ming. I see why GMMTV greenlit them for Our Skyy 2 even before My School President released.

I really love how Aof's compassion and empathy infuses his characters. Yes, Jam was not a good mother to Li Ming, but she's trying to do right by him now. Life is the future, and she's doing what she can now to help Li Ming the way he wants to be helped.

They saw the shift in demeanor when Li Ming stopped being so angry and knew that Fourth and Gemini could carry a show.

I really love Alan joining their little family at the end here. Of course Saleng is going to tease Gaipa. I also like that Wen is learning sign language as well. What a beautiful final shot.

What a pleasant epilogue. Loved the metaphor about there being nothing wrong with the DVD, and rather it just being the player. You are still capable of love. You just need to try a different player.

Final Verdict: 10, Must Watch. This was Aof's best work so far with his best cast. This show managed all of its threads flawlessly without a single missed beat. Everyone is dialed in the entire time to tell a story about the families we build and the love we bring to our communities. In so many ways this feels like Aof in conversation with Boss from I Told Sunset About You. I have such high hopes for the future of queer storytelling out of Thailand after the last week.

alright, I know, I'm late to the party because it's been literal days but here are we are ready to talk about ep. 7+8:

do you all know that football meme, that "they had us in the first half"-meme? that's how I felt after the first 17 minutes of ep. 7... my lord I was so sure jihyun was fine and then they pull this shit on us I was genuinely scared.. so thanks to jaewon for putting me out of my misery by saying he just almost died

I was actually kind of shocked that something genuinely serious happened, because I thought it would be enough for jaewon to back away from jihyun if there was just the tiniest possibility of him getting hurt but I guess we went the drastic way, anyways I'm really glad he's alive

also seeing what the accident did to jaewon was so painful to watch.. he looked so bad and to see how his "friends" just glossed it over and being like: "oh I'm glad you're back to your regular self" like wtf are you saying, do you see him?? he was barely present the entire time, literally just a shadow of himself

we literally only saw his impression change twice - both times involving jihyun - once, when he's about to punch taehyung and the second time when jihyun speaks about his behavior in the surf club

what I also liked was how hard jaewon tries to get jihyun away from him but when they properly meet again in front of the classroom he can't even say no to jihyun asking to talk

well, back to the seniors.. they - emphasis on eunji and taehyung - are still assholes like wow you really don't even have the slightest bit of empathy left in you, have you? I found it pretty crazy how well you could tell in these episodes that neither eunji nor taehyung actually care for jaewon like at all, it feels like they see him as a trophy to carry around and show off and boost their egos with

that being said, I'm so glad taehyung got punched and eunji got absolutely devoured by jihyun, serves them right

taehyung is just so insensitive and childish, he makes me go insane, what was he expecting when he said that about jihyun? that people would clap?? no you idiot, be glad jaewon didn't break a bone or two

and eunji?? is she not embarrassed? her entire behavior is so embarrassing oh my god.. I know she can tell that jaewon doesn't want to be with her because she's not stupid, she just doesn't want to accept it, she can't accept being rejected and left and - what's even worse for her - she can't accept being left by jaewon for another man and I get it, it kinda sucks but you gotta face reality at some point, babes

and considering all that, it's so funny to watch how jihyun gets her blood boiling by simply existing, like she hates him so much and it's so amusing because jihyun couldn't care less, he just doesn't care

so the whole scene of them in the park was so satisfying to watch because with how the characters are positioned - eunji standing and jihyun sitting - and with the camera angle - looking up to eunji and down on jihyun- it's supposed to seem like she is above jihyun and then he just complety verbally destroys her because she already came into the conversation insecure, trying to cover it up by provoking jihyun but just didn't work

I genuinely believed in her redemption arc but at this point I don't think that's happening anymore

alrighty, next up, how sassy did jihyun get after literally almost drowning?? I really liked how he was joking around with his friends talking back to them and all that

and seeing his determination to get jaewon back was great, like he's better than me because I could never, he has a goal and he wants to achieve it

the thing that also stuck with me was him saying "I want to heal his wounds." which we all know he said with good intentions but I think jihyun also has to learn that the only person able to heal jaewon's wounds is jaewon himself, yes he can be there for him and be his support system but jaewon has to want this himself

I also really liked that we saw more of joon pyo in these episodes and he could redeem his "annoying childhood best friend"-image.. he's just a really sweet guy who, yes, is a bit much and a little awkward at times, but he has a good heart and really cares for jihyun

now onto the last bits of ep. 8: that hurt, it really hurt.. I get why jaewon pushed him away, I really do but that was not it, bestie.. I wanted to give jihyun a hug so bad

but honestly even though that was quite painful and I think jihyun might be a little thrown off, I think he's gonna keep pushing.. he was so sure about getting his man back I don't think he's stopping now

what I'm saying is, I hope they get back together and we get a happy ending on wednesday because otherwise.. well idk what I'd do otherwise

So I watched the Miraculous movie.

For the most part, I loved it! The animation was gorgeous, Adrien wasn't walked all over by his dad, the LadyNoir moments were adorable, the villains were actually threatening-

Butttt

Those last 30 minutes were kinda jumbled together. My first problem was them bringing back Adrien's selfish jealousy. In the show, we get so many episodes where he distracts from the fight by complaining to Ladybug about how his feelings are one-sided. Except, the movie is worse cause the city is in litteral flames, LB is dying on a sidewalk trying to call him for help, and he's ignoring it like that isn't the way they communicate to each other for help?! Then he shows up to the fight and sees LB laying on the ground, and still takes a dig at her for liking someone else?!!?!? I do not miss this version of Adrien, let me tell you.

I didn't notice until Chat Noir used his cataclysm, but that and the lucky charm were never explained in the movie (the lucky charm wasn't even IN the movie...well, kinda), so I felt like that was a mistake. New viewers to this world were probably so confused as to how Chat destroyed the eiffel tower randomly. And the magic pink hand thing that I guess was the miraculous ladybug wasn't explained either, other than a voice-over saying she has the power to create. There definitely needed more explanations on their powers.

Okay, so Hawkmoth is defeated. I loved how human they made him, and how he explained his motives in a very real way. But him being unmasked brings up so many questions about the (maybe) second movie. Also, where did he go? Is he in jail? They never said.

And now LB and CN know each others identities, which would be great if this is going to be the one and only movie. Judging by the end scene, I don't think it will be. One of the appeals of the show is the secret identity crisis, and the back and forth between the love square. But that's gone now, so I'm confused about how the next movie is gonna go. I'm assuming Myura is gonna make her appearance, but if she already knows Adrien is Chat Noir, wouldn't that make it too easy?

Over all, the movie is an 8/10 for me. I just wanted to share my thoughts about the ending. I'm excited to see how they do a second one, but please, NO MORE SELFISH JEALOUS ADRIEN!!!

I just finished reading your posts. Very thoughtful analysis. I only had looked at your images before following you a few days ago. 😊 I swear some of the images/moments from the final episode will be seared into my mind (forever) such as Hawk being in the hospital bed with Tim and Lucy telling Hawk I am leaving. Poor Hawk. Kinda. I didn’t want some overly “moral” ending re Hawk gets outed and his life is destroyed. Gets caught at a restroom and his name gets in the papers. Hawk did partially atone by some deeds done in episode 8, taking care of Tim and coming out by 1986 standards.

Someone told me Showtime sometimes does an update on characters after the show has gone off the air, like one year later. Have you heard that ? I really don’t need that though I jokingly said Hawk needs to go to rehab as he is still drinking, sex addiction (hope he stopped with anonymous hookups, risk getting arrested, risk getting sick) and his life has crumbled away. Not sure what happens to his career and reputation.

Did that homophobe inCalifornia tell ppl in DC that Hawk is a “homo?” It’s 1986 and we were under the Reagan administration. Hawk would become box office poison in DC. I also wondered if Hawk wanted to deed his house on Fire Island to Tim as some sort of amends for doing financial & career damage to Tim re 1957 incident. Hawk has the money though Ms. Lucy might clean him out.

So sorry the series is over. The writer had said a lot of things would be left unresolved. When I had read that awhile back, I thought it sounded like a soap opera. Crap. Well, I knew we wouldn’t get a Hollywood ending with things resolved and everything turns out great.

I haven't heard of Showtime doing a character update on previous shows, but prior to Fellow Travelers I don't think I've watched a Showtime series since Queer as Folk. That sounds like that can't possibly be correct but I genuinely can't think of another Showtime series I've watched. They certainly didn't do a character catch up for Queer as Folk, I wish they had because I would like to know if Brian is happy 🤣.

As for the Hawk question, I don't really know that by the time we reached the end Hawk cared rather or not people knew. I think the prick at the gala was kind of his coming out type moment anyway. He left no doubt what his relationship with Tim was, and he probably figured that asshole would tell people. I just think he was done. And the reality was there weren't any reasons left to keep pretending. Tim was dying, Lucy left, what reason would he have to keep faking it? I doubt he went to Milan, I tend to think he quit his job all together. His life had changed. He made good money, probably had a nice pension. I just think he called it quits. Moved back to D.C, spent time with his daughter, thank God he still had his daughter, and learned how to be his true self. That's my hope anyway. There wasn't a need to go back to the way it was before, and I don't think he did.

Ranking all Dcoms I have Seen

Hello friends!!

I-I’m…. alive?

So sorry for the long hiatus but, well, you know how school is (it kinda sucks)

Anyway, I’ve decided to start branching out from pure Z-O-M-B-I-E-S content, so for the return, I’m going to be ranking all dcoms I have personally seen with a little snippet of my thoughts about them. Alright,

1. Zombies 3

Amazing, beautiful, absolutely perfect, un ironically hilarious, great songs, out of pocket story. I love it.

2. High School Musical 2

Same as previous, but more gay and slightly less interesting characters.

3. Descendants

Best descendants movie by far, but Mal and Evie > Mal and Ben for sure. Still, a good watch overall. A really interesting and dynamic main cast too.

4. Teen Beach Movie

Very funny, great music. The only reason it’s below Descendants is because I viscerally hate the two main characters.

5. Adventures in Babysitting

I actually liked the Disney remake, which I didn’t expect to. It may just be because I really like Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson but who knows.

6. Princess Protection Program

Really liked this movie when I was a kid, although looking back I don’t really understand why. I wouldn’t want to watch it nowadays but I still think it’s good.

7. Cow Belles

Good movie, my mom and I watched it together a lot. Reminds me a bit too much of Liv and Maddie though.

8. Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!

Honestly a comfort movie for me. It’s not exactly “good” in the slightest but I watched it a lot when I felt sick or anxious so whenever I watch it today it tends to make me feel safe. Also I really liked Good Luck Charlie.

9. High School Musical

I mean it’s alright. A little overrated considering there’s only like… 4(?) good characters.

10. Radio Rebel

Pretty funny at some parts but also just suuuupeer dumb. It’s fine.

11. 16 Wishes

Honestly everything Debby Ryan starred in kinda blurs together for me. Also this one apparently isn’t technically a dcom? It’s okay though.

12. Zombies 2

Good, but not Zombies at it’s best. That’s pretty much all.

13. Descendants 2

Okay descendants… you’re getting worse. You can stop here. The only thing I really remember liking about this movie is Mal and Evie’s relationship getting expanded upon.

14. Zombies

Yeah it’s okay. Not near as good as 2 and 3 but like, I’d watch it happily on my deathbed or whatever.

15. Descendants 3

Had one really good song with Mal and Hades and that’s about it.

16. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie

Pretty good, actually. I really enjoy the Russo’s family dynamic so seeing them in stressful situations like this and how they responded was fun.

17. Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure

Worse than all the regular HSM movies, but it stars Sharpay so obviously it’s still alright.

18. Cloud 9

I think I remember liking this movie solely cause it had dogs in it.

19. Camp Rock

It’s… okay.

20. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension

Yeah I didn’t like this movie. I mean, like I could watch it again and be pretty happy but I really just did not enjoy the plot. Reminds me of that one futuristic sci-fi Jessie episode but worse.

21. Frenemies

Uh… I think I liked this movie? I dunno it was okay.

22. How to Build a Better Boy

This movie creeped me out so much when I first watched it. Will never be watching it again. Had a nice song though.

23. Bad Hair Day

I don’t remember much about this movie other than that I didn’t hate it but like, I also reeeaaaally didn’t like it. So…

24. Zapped

This movie also creeped me out, less than How to Build a Better Boy did, but the plot of this one somehow was worse.

25. Teen Beach 2

Everything about this movie is good except for the ending. It’s like Bayonetta 3, amazing until the ending destroys every last bit of happiness your soul contained.

26. The Cheetah Girls 1, 2, and One World

I don’t actually know if these are good movies or not, I literally just don’t remember one single detail from these movies other than than that Raven-Symoné was in them (and don’t get me wrong, I love Raven-Symoné). I watched all of these movies one day when I was sick out of school and then never watched them again.

27. Invisible Sister

I think I fell asleep halfway through this one? I don’t know, but I’m not a huge fan of the two main actors either.

28. The Suite Life Movie

Literally so bad. Look, I’m not normally a fan of movie specials for shows, but this was the absolute worst. I wish I had never watched it.

29. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

Horrid. Horrid Acting. Horrid characters. Horrid Music. Horrid story. I hate it.

Anyway, there’s some stuff I would probably move around if I had seen more of these movies recently, but some I legit haven’t seen since elementary school.

Asked for tickles from my boyfriend (ie hid some of my face and quietly asked him if he minded "doing the thing" and like before that he had kinda been tickling me just tiny bits but after I asked he goes "I knew you wanted me to do that" like I had just proved him right and then he did cause hes sweet and amazing and hrnwhhe but later I looked at him and I said "how did u know I wanted u to do the thing" and he said it was how I was giggling when he hadn't even done anything and I was like man OK fair enough that'll do it

But yeah he's great he's getting rly good at tickling me cause it took a hot second cause a lot of people go for hard squeezes and pokes but those don't work well for me, like 1 or 2 is fine but then they just hurt, i prefer light touches like scribbles and stuff, and we've talked about this (he knows I like being tickled) and he's getting so good at it like I can tell he's picking up on what spots r more ticklish and what spots I rly like and what like ways to tickle me like ugh he does this rly light pinching thing and that shit tickles so bad it's amazing and like just generally he's getting rly good at it.

And when he tickles me he looks at me a lot like I'm cute or something idk it's just there's something in his face and the way he's looking at me that flutters me so damn bad like I already tend to cover my face when he tickles me but I'll like open my eyes and he's looking at me andbhanshwjwh

Literally laughter is such a good sound and the fact that everyone's sounds different is amazing it's like our own little happy music yknow.

I struggle with my laugh when I'm tickled cause I don't think it's very cute, it's rly wheezy and generally just not what I expected ig, but I'm trying to like it, cause it's such a happy sound, why would anyone hate such a happy sound

So yeah, just remember that ur laugh is so gosh darn cute I don't care if ur loud or quiet or giggly or wheezy or if u snort or giggle or squeal or if you sound like an elephant singing the blues cause it's literally such a pretty sound

avm ep 29 predictions

ahh i know it's a bit late to be getting predictions in (literally less than an hour before the episode release orz) but if any of this stuff happens, i wanna be able to say i called it so here we are

predictions in chronological order of when i think they'll happen in the episode (under the cut tho cos this post is quite long)

major predictions (stuff i really think will happen / otherwise put a lot of thought into)

this place is where mango tested their command block staff and that's why it's all messed up

this theory was actually proposed to me by my brother, who suggested it after the first teaser gif for this episode was released (the one with all the flying animals)

at the time, we wanted to come up with a reason for all the weird stuff going on in the teaser but now that we've gotten the second teaser gif and the name of the episode, it might not hold true anymore since it looks like the episode will focus more on note blocks

anyway most of the reasoning behind this was just. the mobs kinda look like they're flying as if they were in creative mode cos they're just floating

so i joked that this is what it would look like if you ran /gamemode creative @/e (as in the command affects all mobs and players)

finally getting info on what happened to purple before current arc (episodes 20 - now) / before they met the colour gang

i really want to know what happened to them after ep 10, after they got dragged offscreen by the villagers,,,, i've come up with 3 possible scenarios and if any of them end up being canon i will SCREAM

scenario 1: they got put in the jail cell blue and green were put in and remained there for an unspecified amount of time, which probably made them very lonely and desperate for connection. this is now a great time for mango to come in and rescue them, thereby indebting purple to them forever

scenario 2: they got exiled from their own desktop by the villagers, who basically kicked them into the nether and destroyed the portal after them. maybe they're desperate to go back, and that's what mango offered them in exchange for their loyalty

scenario 3: exile again, but they go and live on the colour gang's desktop while they're still going through the events of portal arc (eps 8 - 14). you ever wonder how they got onto the colour gang's desktop to be there for the events of vs league of legends? yeah

i also really want to know how they met mango, but particularly when they met

^ i go into more detail about this in my timeline post (link coming soon but essentially the timeline of events for purple goes creation -> ??? -> ep 9-10 -> exile / imprisonment -> met king, agreed to serve them -> vs league -> still working for king / inner conflict -> current arc) but i think it would be very interesting for them to meet mango before vs league, since that way, mango likely forced them into betraying the colour gang in the parkour plan, which means they never chose between the colour gang and mango :"

i really hope we find out why they chose to follow mango,,,, like what did mango offer them that was so important to them that they ignored all the warning signs saying mango never really cared about them? (notable examples include mango shoving purple aside immediately after giving them a headpat in parkour, and the scene where mango blasts purple through a wall using the staff in ultimate weapon)

^ personally, i think initially they might've wanted power but it quickly became more about affection / friendship / validation, and mango knew and exploited this to keep them loyal and controlled

as for their backstory, i have absolutely no idea SHDJSHD but this episode is probably the most information we'll ever get on purple so might as well hope for it

also maybe they could convey all this to us using the same visual speech thing that red and second did in lush caves? it's quite complex information so i don't think gestures will be enough here

why i think green is in a good position to forgive purple

they've got the most information on purple in general, since they saw the mission briefing in parkour and they were there for the events of episodes 9 and 10 (villagers and the end)

from what they told blue and yellow in ultimate weapon, they know that purple's serving king and they're not equals since there was a frame in their visual explanation that showed purple kneeling in front of mango on their throne, then another frame of mango commanding them (timestamp 3:30 if you'd like to see)

^ so like. maybe they'd believe it if purple told them they didn't actually want to betray the colour gang but they were forced into it / they still want to be friends

they actively extended friendship to purple in vs league (they held their hand out to purple after second initiated their introduction, and they stayed back to encourage them to join in the match at the end)

purple sacrificing themself to defeat king

i really don't want this to happen actually but i can see it so clearly it's awful

look. it's just that purple is so loyal to mango despite how badly mango treats them, so if they do end up joining the colour gang i just. i wonder if that loyalty will carry over with the same intensity

second rediscovering their powers in the fight against mango

mm i actually didn't come up with this theory independently (i think maybe i saw a post by @/tulipsempai that made me consider it?) but i think it's an interesting scenario

i feel like it's fairly likely cos it feels like something that would happen in canon to give the colour gang a fairer chance against mango (since they're very overpowered right now, with both The Blocks and the staff)

but also i don't want it to happen cos it would go against my headcanon for how second's powers work,,,

basically, i think that their powers will only activate if they die, and i don't want anyone to die next episode ashjdg

anyway i don't think mango will kill anyone cos they'd just respawn back at the desktop, so it'd be more beneficial to keep them prisoner so they don't cause trouble yknow

the end portal texture theory

so you all know how the black hole that mango made with the staff in ultimate weapon had the end portal texture on it

i think there's absolutely no reason why it should look like that, unless it's really an end portal

the reasoning behind this is that if it was just a black hole, it could've used the night sky texture that was used for the witch's portal potions in ep 21

therefore, the end portal texture must mean something, right? (i really hope it's not just to look cool asjhdgh)

additional theory courtesy of @nano-blob, who i presented the end portal texture theory to first: what if everyone gets sucked into the black hole for an Epic Finale Battle in the end (which is actually still plausible since mango probably made another black hole at the end of the raid, judging by the motion and the visual effects)

minor predictions (a fair chance of happening / what-if scenarios / not much impact on how the episode as a whole will go)

purple didn't run into this portal for any particular reason, they just wanted somewhere to be alone and cry

green being mad at first then sympathising (maybe upon seeing that they're upset?)

^ alternatively, green telling purple that they got a taste of their own medicine and that they deserved it ("now you know how it feels to be betrayed, huh?")

purple thinking that green came to kill them but actually green's just concerned about them

green offers their hand / an opportunity for friendship to purple and they refuse initially cos they don't think they deserve it after the betrayal in parkour

green pulling some kinda pied piper deal with the noteblock they have in the second teaser (like using it to communicate with a bunch of mobs and rally them against mango)

it's possible that the colour gang might not defeat mango this episode, and we might have a final episode of just them fighting against mango

purple helping the colour gang fight / defeat king!!!

colour gang being distrustful of purple and green has to explain why they're friends again / why they've decided to trust purple now

wishful thinking (i want this to happen SO BAD but i know there's a very real chance of it not happening)

i'm sure you all can tell but i really really want purple to be emotional this episode,,,,,, a lot of things have happened to them tbh and they deserve to let it out

purple using invisibility potions to hide but they still give themself away cos green can hear them crying,,,,,, we've never seen their inventory so i don't think they have potions anyway but GOD IF IT ISN'T ANGSTY

purple joins the colour gang permanently and they go back to the desktop together,,,,, look i just want them to be friends so bad asjhd (also i need more canon purple content please)

i know it's not gonna happen because of what we saw in the teaser but i'm still audgdsu over the idea of one of them falling into powder snow and the other having to save them (either way works but man,,, it would be such a good plot device to show green that purple still thinks of them as friends / doesn't actually want to hurt them) (alternatively, to show purple that green doesn't want revenge / that they're just concerned for them)

^ the above theory was written before we got the teaser gifs that confirmed they're not in a snow biome, but an alternative version that could still work in the current setting is either purple or green getting into trouble and having to be rescued / needing help (trouble is very vague cos idk what's going to happen next ep)

other theories (varying probability and coherence but i thought they were interesting)

my sister proposed the possibility that this place is a trap before the teaser came out, and initially i refuted it cos i thought that purple running into this particular portal wasn't planned on their part (ie. they only came here because they were upset and wanted to run away after being betrayed). but now it's actually looking more likely cos of the noteblock trees and the episode being called note block universe?? it probably means nothing but well. it's green and their main thing is making music,,, it's just that the correlation is too strong and i don't like it

a scene where purple tries to hide from green behind a tree or smth but gives themself away cos they tapped a note block seems to have an ok chance of happening to me but also?? i feel like that's not enough of a reason for the trees to be note blocks cos it's too weird to have such a simple purpose

^ that was written before we learnt that the name of the episode is note block universe and therefore the main focus will probably be note blocks, but i think it's still an interesting scenario

Anime recommendations pt2!

Since the first list (here!) did super well I thought I’d share some of my other favourite animes. I hope you can find some new animes to watch or see some of your favourites here! Please feel free so send me any recommendations, I’m always down to check out some new anime. In no particular order, let’s get started!

1. Free! (37 episodes, will be more)

This was my first sports anime and it’s just so pure. It follows a highschool swim team, focusing on their lives during the past and present. I love all of the characters and how each season touches on different points in the characters lives. It gets much deeper than I expected from a swimming anime. Overall, it’s one of my favourites and I highly recommend it.

2. Magi (50 episodes)

Where to even begin with this one? If you are looking for an intermediate length fantasy anime with loveable characters and modeled after 1001 Arabian Night, this one is for you. I truly loved the magic system and the magic in general in this show.

3. Erased (12 episodes)

WOW okay I love this one so much. I don’t wanna spoil too much with this summary because this had anime has lots of twists and surprises! Basically our protagonist Saturo Fujinuma is sent 18 years into the past to prevent the death and abduction of his classmate Kayo while protecting his loved ones in the present. This anime had me hooked, I binged the entire 12 episodes in one night and then rewatched it immediately with my roommate. If you are craving a murder mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat, this one is for you.

4. Death Note (37 episodes)

This is an anime classic and no one can tell me otherwise. If you aren’t familiar with death note, it follows Light Yagami who acquires a special notebook that grants him the power of life and death. If you are looking for a darker anime that keeps you on your toes, highly recommend.

5. Maid Sama (26 episodes)

A shoujo classic! Basically Misaki is the student body present at a school known for its delinquent boys and keeps them in check, butttt Misaki’s family is poor so she works at a maid cafe. One day one of the boys at school, Usui, finds out she works there and shenanigans and romance ensues. If you are looking for a funny and cute romance I recommend this one.

6. Owari no seraph (24 episodes)

I am weakkkkk for the light and dark hair protagonists. Usually I am not one for vampire anime but I did really enjoy this one. It’s basically the vampires against mankind in an all out war, complete with great action scenes and animation following two childhood friends. This has fight scenes, cool weapons, interesting story lines, and a sprinkle of politics to keep you entertained.

7. Assassination Classroom (47 episodes)

A class of middle schoolers tasked with assassinating an alien threatening to destroy the planet? Count me in. The basic premise is this rando alien dude threatens to destroy the earth in a year if this group my middle schoolers doesn’t kill him by then, and he becomes their teacher for the year? It sounds whacky but the characters are really fun and watching their growth makes it a fantastic anime. Did I shed a few tears at the end? Yes, yes I did.

8. Seven Deadly Sins (on-going, 72 episodes)

At first, I tried this anime and I didn’t really love it, but I gave it another chance and what a great decision that was. It starts out in a fantasy world filled with magic and knights, focused on the legendary group of knights and how they betrayed the capital and the story just evolves from there. Honestly the magic and fight scenes are super cool and I gotta say I have a soft spot for the characters.

9. Jujustsu Kaisen (24 episodes)

I think everyone and their mother has heard of this one or at least seen Gojo everywhere on social media. The fights scenes, the characters, the magic system, all absolutely insane. I kinda went in knowing nothing other than that facts that Gojo was hot. If you are looking for awesome fight scenes I highly recommend.

10. Anonhana: The Flower We Saw That Day (11 episodes)

Well this one actually broke me. When I say I sobbed at the ending, I mean I SOBBED. This short anime is so heartbreaking, I didn’t realize how much I was enjoying it until the end hit me like a ton of bricks. This anime focuses on a group of students who lost a friend during their childhood and have since drifted apart. Suddenly the ghost of their dead friend is back and haunting the main character, bringing the group back together to help put their lost friend to rest. Just get your tissues ready.

11. Banana Fish (24 episodes)

Speaking of anime that broke me.... this one hurt so bad. This anime come with a lot of triggers warnings for disturbing themes and violence so pleased be advised if that makes you uncomfy! I honestly have no idea how to summarize this one, but it centers around Ash Lynx who is a leader of his own gang in New York City after being taken in by a godfather of the mafia. Ash begins to investigate “banana fish” which is where things take a turn for the worse. Ash meets Eiji, a Japanese photography assistant who is covering American street gangs and their story goes from there. Overall, I loved this one with my whole heart, even if it left me feeling empty inside.

13. Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits (26 episodes)

At first, I was a skeptical about this one but I have to say I ended up loving it. For fans of Kamisama Kiss, Yona of the Dawn and Snow White with the Red Hair, this should be your next watch!! The characters are what make this show as amazing as it is. This show follows our main protagonist Aoi who has always been able to see spirits from the Hidden Realm, known as ayakashi. Her grandfather had the same ability and when he passes away Aoi is left to pay off his debt to the “Master InnKeeper” in the Hidden Realm. The romance in this series is present and really cute, but it mostly centers around Aoi and the ayakashi she meets.

13. Sk8 The Infinity (13 episodes)

This one aired last winter season and I fell in love. The animation, the characters, the storyline, a 10/10. The story starts off so simply with Langa moving to Japan and meeting Reki who teaches him to skateboard. Based on the gif above.... you know this one is fruity and we are absolutely here for it. Renga is one of the cutest pairings I’ve seen in a long time and I just love them to bits. I recommend the dub for this one, its hilarious and the voice actors seems to be having a great time with it. (psst!! if ur looking for a good Renga fic after watching sk8 I recommend (the first time) he kissed a boy by @buzzcutseasonart (buzzcut__season on ao3))

12 Anti LO Asks

1. its victim blaming of hades to tell minthe its HER fault she "couldnt get over him". like? you lied to her! youre the one who blurred the lines to date her! you were just as toxic to her if not more so by controlling where she lives and her job, all while never defending her to your cruel family! you had all the power over her while she had nothing! you dumped her for a 19 year old and dont care she crippled minthe! i wont excuse minthe's actions, but hades is ultimately the worse of the two IMO

2. you know why fans claimed "Minthe should've reacted better"? since the first episode Rachel has been drilling into their heads Minthe is an irredeemable monster, and her not bending over backwards to H/P means she deserves the absolute worst. Minthe reacting how anyone logically would doesn't matter when LO is designed to coddle H/P, and anyone against them must suffer for it, even if the victim to H/P's actions. they never wanted her to be "redeemed", they want her head on a silver platter.

3. i know this is not what she intended bc the only characterization rachel has of hxp is "the best over everything" but uh, does she know having hades control all the petroleum and gasses and whatever else is actively destroying the planet, right? like hes helping the very thing persephone draws her power from and what she's connected to be destroyed to appease hes need for wealth and power. its kinda gross hes being romanticized while he commits horrible acts like this for his bank account.

4. its not impossible to go opposite in their original myth personalities and still have it work. like in hades game, sisyphus is one of the most likable characters, achilles is gentle and kind, ares is calm and rational, etc, but it makes sense within the context of the story. LO in comparison goes "all these loving mothers are evil because i said so! this beloved god is now evil because i said so! minthe is evil because i said so!" and that's about it in terms of logic to these wild changes.

5. I can kinda get behind anon's theory about the flower nymphs looking like P to help her be undetected, the problem is there are also unrelated women in comic who are bright pink and look just like her, with hades even confusing them for her! if i had to bet the only reason they look like that is because rachel just wanted daphne to look like her to hammer home apollo is "obsessed" with P and to fake them as her "real family" over demeter. also just laziness in designing characters in general.

6. its weird hades and persephone are well aware what they're doing is bad even openly admitting it and yet the narrative is so hellbent on excusing their bad actions?? like hades being the major toxic factor in his relationship to minthe, persephone killing people, or hades wanting to bone an eternal 19 year old? like rachel you know thats not how character growth works, right? you cant show they have horrible flaws and leave them to never grow and learn from it, that's not good writing at all.

7. what i also dont get is the hierarchy makes no sense? like zeus is framed as the top god, but that would mean hades cant be the most important man ever so rachel also made him equal rank with zeus (and i guess poseidon too) so?? how does zeus have all that power over them then if theyre all equal? is it because zeus swallowed metis? also how are the fertility goddess so powerful and rare yet so easily taken down? how are they overpowered and super weak at the same time? i just dont get it.

8. Re reading chapter 144 and other anon is right we do see the pomegranate pin on Hades outfit (so Hades gifts it to her)

But also some things to note

During the makeout session persy begins to disappear in butterfly form and hades is like "no don't leave!" And he grabs her, preventing her from leaving. Which is..kinda Ick considering they were on their way to having (public) sex and he doesn't want her to leave which seems like he's not really respecting her boundaries? (because if she does he'll "be lonely")

The pomegranate pin is Hades' to begin with so technically one of Persephones symbols is not hers (yes I know in the original myth she ate it in the underworld / was forced to eat it but still its supposed to be her symbol)

Hades notes that he "doesn't want to overstep his boundaries as host" because Persephone is a guest (too late for that)

Persephones main concern (after what a week or 2?) after being raped is when Hades wants to stop her reaction is "dont you want me anymore?"

Girl you aren't even dating ...??

Persy's literal one and only concern is that she thinks if she doesnt sleep with Hades right then or when/if he wants to that "she wont be able to give him what hes used to" ... Which is reinforcing that she went to therapy to get "over being blocked" in regards to having sex

Although Hades does mention that she shouldn't feel like she needs to please him and that a kiss can just be a kiss which would be nice

(And yet his thinking of marrying her amd he's known her for 2, 3 weeks? ... And he says "the beginning of a new relationship is exciting and scary" so hes basically indicating thay their dating at this point, I think?)

And later the nymphs in the store are like "do you wanna be the dominatrix of the bedroom?? Buy this lingerie!" And persy does. So??

Meanwhile Demeter is very worried for her daughter who is busy sitting in Hades lap in a pool.

9. Can we talk about how anons are making fucking flow charts for the LO Timeline cause it's so ridiculously jumbled?

10. im not even against rushed relationships, ive known actual couples who met and were married all within the same year and it worked out great, the difference though is these were people who had their own lives and previous relationships. the issue with LO is RS designed it so Persephone can NEVER have relationships or a life outside of Hades, and if they did get married offscreen, it's framing their marriage in a toxic and unbalanced light. That's not a romance, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

11. i feel like there's a difference between drawing an interesting hooked/aquiline nose versus whatever the hell RS puts on Hades' face. It honestly looks like he's in between morphing into a bird half the time since it just looks like a beak over an actual facial feature.

12. are there shareholders or a board of advisors or something at underworld corp? because if there is id say they have more than enough reason to kick hades out and strip him of his titles/shares because of all the shit he's caused by being guided by his broken pp over thinking with his head. liking dating TWO employees? and getting one of them phsyically crippled by the other bc he can't be honest with either of them and she's a walking time bomb? he's a walking HR nightmare.

My Top 20 Anime of 2020

So in terms of my personal life, 2020 was the absolute worst year I’ve ever been through by a large margin even before COVID-19 destroyed the world and so many other major events piled on to just bum me out even further. But yo anime went kinda hard, even despite several delayed productions. Enough good shows existed this year and I’m into the alliteration of “Top 20 of 2020” so I decided this should be a top 20 instead of a top 10. Sometimes the resoution of these photos is shit, deal with it. Anyway yeah, let’s get going.

20. Akudama Drive

This show is cool as fuck and hype to watch, Swindler based, it’s really impressive how well this show managed to maintain its pace and energy throughout 12 episodes, even in spite of the occasional misstep it still felt really consistent.

19. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou

Once again prefacing this with I’ve never seen other Higurashi things, but this series is pretty enjoyable when it’s being a slice of life and really enjoyable when it’s being a horror thriller. I’ve seen some statement about the next half of the show being some “answers arc” so that sounds like it could make this a way more satisfying watch, looking forward to it.

18. Adachi to Shimamura

I’m just a yuri cuck and this show is a really pretty slice of life yuri show.

17. Munou na Nana

Not always super interesting and lowkey the ugliest show on this list but Kyoya + Nana and especially Nana + Michiru are very top tier character dynamics.

16. Deca-dence

Sorta just a fun and exciting watch with really great visuals tbh, also Tomori Kusonoki based as fuck.

15. Mewkledreamy

I like magical girls.

14. Healin’ Good Precure

See above, but there are more magical girls.

13. Somali and the Forest Spirit

We did get good traveller shows this year pog.

12. BanG Dream! 3rd Season

Not as good as s2’s second half but s2’s first half dragged that season down so s3 is better overall. RAS are the best band to ever exist.

11. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

God remember when I was sitting there denouncing the first season because it was just sorta inconsistent and boring a lot of the time? Yeah s2 doesn’t really have that issue, so the show’s just actually funny and entertaining and Ishigami gets some pog character moments too. Coolio.

10. Dorohedoro

Funniest anime I’ve ever seen? Maybe.

9. Princess Connect! Re:Dive

At its weakest when it’s not focused on its main 4 but those main 4 are all the most endearing fucks ever, I can’t believe I like a male MC in a gacha girl anime.

8. Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story

Disappointing in some ways, namely just character writing and how the plot was paced out, but I still like the structure a lot and the audiovisuals are so fucking strong that this show’s just always gonna be real fun for me as a Madoka simp.

7. Maoujou de Oyasumi

Honestly can’t believe this show stayed as good as it did, but it did, so I loved it. Inori Minase’s best vocal performance.

6. Taiso Samurai

How in the hell did the gymnastics family dramady show turn out to be one of my favourites of the year.

5. D4DJ: First Mix

It’s so fucking charming and cute and the animation is so expressive and I love Muni and this show’s not over so maybe the finale cocks it all up but tbh I have faith we’re gonna be in for a good time as we have been for the first 9 episode.

4. Eizouken ni wa Te wo Nasu da!

My thoughts on this show soured throughout the year as I tried to remember just how much I loved everything about it yet my mind barely moved past episode like 4 or something, and honestly maybe this position would move down quite a bit on a rewatch, but fuckin, show’s still visually splendid as hell, characters are dummy endearing and have amazing chemistry, this show still made me cry most episodes just from excitement, it’s a good time.

3. Koisuru Asteroid

This show gets dismissed by so many people as just another mediocre Kirara show but it’s not! It’s fucking really amazing! It pays a lot of attention to its character writing and actually sets up on and follows through with a narrative that has themes and lets the girls grow and develop and it’s really fucking good! Give it a fucking chance!

2. Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club

Oh wow I put the Love Live thing in the top 2? What a shocker. Basically though Niji was able to quell all the fears I had for the show and blow me away in just about every element, I loved close enough to every episode.

1. Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? Bloom

I loved every episode as opposed to close enough to every episode lol. I’ve said this before but this show physically hurt me to watch it because my face muscles would get so tired from smiling ear to ear for entire episodes. Literally posted my Season in Review for Fall like 3 days ago and that put Gochiusa as Anime of the Season over Love Live so there’s further explanation in there if you care pog.

Movie of the Year – Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul

Bondrewd is the literal best anime villain ever.

Girl of the Year – Setsuna Yuki

Don’t be surprised.

Boy of the Year – Bondrewd the Novel, Sovereign of Dawn

Remember 2 sentences ago where I called him the literal best anime villain ever. Yeah scratch out “anime”, this dude’s just the best villain ever.

just wanted to ask how you are and what you think about the euphoria s2 finale? ♥️ i saw it yesterday and i don't know how to feel

hey anon!

i am currently not well™ but it has nothing to do with euphoria. i guess i liked season two as a whole but to me season one will remain the superior season. the finale felt kinda lackluster to me and i don't really know why. like, there were parts that i really enjoyed and parts that left me feeling indifferent, which is a rare thing when it comes to how i feel about an episode of this show. if we're talking about all of season two, here are some of my thoughts:

1. rue - still the most well-written character of the entire show with one of the best, most realistic and most tragic arcs i've seen in a long time. i'm happy that she's trying to not destroy herself and her relationships anymore and i hope we'll see more of her doing her best to stay clean (beyond the rest of the school year) in season three. i just want her to be happy and healthy and safe.

2. jules - she was one of my faves in season one and she still is one of my faves but i'm kinda disappointed with how little she had to do in season two and i think it's weird how quickly people decide to hate her. she's flawed like everyone else in this show but to me it seems that some people just really love to hate her whenever she ends up making a mistake.

3. nate - the prospect of him getting a redemption arc in season three bothers me to no end. yes, he's traumatized and i can empathize with that a lot. yes, even the worst characters probably deserve a chance to redeem themselves to some degree. HOWEVER: the fact that he called the cops on cal doesn't make him an overall good guy all of a sudden. like, remember that he threatened maddy with a fucking gun two episodes ago??? remember that he treats the women in his life like property??? remember that he's a horrifyingly skilled manipulator in general??? no??? bc i do. his trauma may explain his behavior but it sure as hell doesn't justify it.

4. maddy - don't know if i've ever said it here or anywhere else but she is my no. 1 fave of the whole damn show. i love her - always have, always will - and like rue, she deserves the world and more. the END.

6. cassie - i guess she stole the show this season ... in a very annoying way. it's interesting that the stuff she had to go through in season one wasn't really mentioned in season two - at least not verbally. idk. she felt like a different character right from the beginning of season two and i'm not sure what to do with that atm.

7. lexi - the unsung hero of both seasons. was her play ridiculously cool? yes. was it also problematic? yes. do i care about her little romance with fez? nope. do i care about her friendship with rue? ABSOLUTELY.

8. kat - who??? like, where was she in the last couple of episodes? they really pushed her into the background this time and i don't like it at all.

9. fez - no words, tears only.

10. honourable mentions: ali (another fave of mine, i hope we'll see more of him in the future), ethan (underrated as fuck), elliot (overrated as fuck), gia (i need an episode that is focussed on her), faye (i had a feeling she'd be a good one in the end), suze (the comic relief i didn't expect but desperately needed), leslie (she's trying her best, okay?) and ashtray (my heart is broken).

TL;DR: i don't know what to feel either but this ask was a great distraction, so thank you for that <3

Time for this thing to get wrapped up! Let’s start with season 8! After a pretty mediocre S7 that was a follow-up of a great S6, I’m hoping for something better. But, well. The general consensus seems to be, that this season sucks. But lemme paint my own picture first. Episodes 1+2 let’s go! :

Was the Tv-show a refernce to the 80s Voltron?

I like Altean Evangelion pilot’s design

Lance has got some angst to work through

Okay, it is a direct refernce to 80s Voltron. And Lance is not supporting Kallura,

And I guess that’s also an Allurance and Klance moment, cause Hunk joked about a love triangle

(Yes, for a love-triangle there needs to be at least one queer person. Y’all just don’t get shapes)

Was the comment about “getting Allura a little wrong” supposed to be about the change of her skin colour? Cause if so. Well. yikes

Does anybody else think, that it’s weird for the Garrison to send these kids back into space, to end a war?

Gosh, why are Shiro and Keith so serious?

This episode is very clearly pushing Allurance, but I’m just sitting happily over here, with my Romura crumbs

6) Omega Supreme with a piccolo, just because I think its funny, because Piccolos are the smallest woodwind instrument, OS is one of the largest autobots, and I dont think he would understand the concept of a musical instrument. Omega Supreme is a my second favorite TF! He gets more cameos than Metroplex, and like Metroplex, is used also mainly as a “wow cool robot” factor (like in Seige he literally does nothing as Cybertron is being destroyed, and only appears to pop out of the ground, only to not be heard or seen again LOL), but I love the story he gets in G1 and TFA. I think its something to say that OS is said in G1 to have his emotions wiped out, but he is the only TF I think who has tears. I wish his journey of discovering emotions again was expanded upon, but hey, its G1 lol.

Like Metroplex, I have a lil fanfic idea for him, in which he gets stuck in a human sized holoform that looks literally like as I drew him, chibish and more friendlier, and learns what it means to feel in a middle of nowhere town in the US.

7) Cyberverse Astrotrain with a harmonica. My third favorite TF! I love all forms of Astrotrain honestly, but Cyberverse had it right when they made him an absolute giant compared to everyone. I never want to see normal sized Astrotrain EVER again!!! It was actually a screenshot of him towering over Megatron that made me want to watch Cyberverse LOL mmhhmhmhmhm big boye time,,,,,bIG BOY TIME,,,,

I like his dynamic with Dead-End, just both being grumpy and jerks to others in general. I wish there was more Astrotrain, like whne he flew off with Megatron X, i was like nO KING COME BACk LDJHFKLSDHGLKSDNGLKSG!!!!!! If the Cyberverse movie doesnt have him I will cry lakjfslkgsg.

8) Cyberverse Clobber with a trombone! Probably tbe kind of person who doesn't know how to play music, probably makes audials bleed but if she enjoys it she enjoys it. Clobber is,,, just a cute character who seems to have just fallen in with the wrong faction, was happy to see her become an Autobot, ahahah. She's big, strong, and kinda dumb and unconfident but a nice person who means well, so basically she checks all my boxes for characters I like lol. She just want to vibe with Lockdown and Hot Rod, I think their small amounts of interactions are great Also I appreciate big dumb girl solidarity bc dang, me too queen

9) Cyberverse Arcee. with an electric guitar I think she's may favorite Arcee. Idk I like unapologetically Head Empty No Thought characters. Like she's just here to have a good time!! Just taking selfies with Earth animals, no thoughts, just vibes.. I love her dynamic with Grimlock, whose smart but also head empty at the same time. Like he's book smart bc he knows how to build and things, but idk maybe spending all his time with Arcee made them have 1 collective braincell. Or he's just a fun dude too! Im just saying Arcee and Grimlock would go on journeys with Meteorfire and Cosmos!!!!!!!!

10)Cyberverse Grimlock with a xylophone! I was never a huge fan of the dinobots, but I actually grew to like Cyberverse Grimlock! He has a posh voice, is self reliant and technologically smart, and likes going on adventures. I think he has a fun dynamic with Arcee and I like how Head Empty they both are XD Spoilery opinion bit!!! He has an interesting story, in which his g1 personality returns due to being stuck on prehistoric earth, alone, and adapting to Earth life, that being dinosaurs! However I feel that the episode, "King of the Dinosaurs" (for me) personally highlights one of the gripes I do have with Cyberverse: timing with emotional beats. The whole episode is how he got there, what he did, and Bumblebee and Windblade chasing him down after reactivating him, as he tries to look for his dinosaur friends and the world he once knew. At the end he is told that its all gone, and personally I f e l t for him as he calls for "Friends?" in regards to the long gone dinos, and how his final recording was for them to be strong in the face of inevitable death. But within the minute he's just like "lol oops sometimes I be like that :D" Like I get Cyberverse is a light hearted show and has like a 11 minute run time, I do! I just felt a bit jarred at how quickly certain concepts, (not just this one), get resolved. But thats just my opinion and I do like the concept, its just, aaaaa ^^;;;
