poor shiro cannot catch a fucking break can he. first he gets a crippling disease he's got two years to live. then an angsty wattpad breakup with his boyfriend then he gets kidnapped by aliens and pumped full of alien weed then he crashes on earth with so much walking midlife crisis energy that he gains the skinning puppies to make a fur coat hair, and then he immediately gets shot right back into space by his shittass little brother and weirdo friends with the literal matt clone. then this poor man is made the leader of an alien war, becomes a father to four fuckass teenagers through accidental child acquisition, is forced into the kim kardashian lifestyle by a ginger on drugs, gets kidnapped again, gets cloned, fucking dies, somehow comes back (yeah I'm not really clear about this) then this pathetic wet cat of a man, this stressed jean valjean father of four, experiencing his fourth midlife crisis and millionth mental breakdown, gains that senior citizen swag at twenty five. you could colour match his hair with a polar bear. then he witnesses a walking loreal ad (derogatory) get melted alive, watches a castle get blown up, loses three years in a space time jump and then finds out his ex- fiance who broke up with him right before he left has fucking died in a purple thumb invasion before he got to marry him. but oh no no no that's not the end for this poor sad man. poor guy doesn't get a second to grieve before he is visually assaulted by a less cunty sue sylvester ripoff and her gang of bitchy cheerios (this is admiral s*nda), and yet again made a leader against his will, and shot right back off into space again. then he watches the only other responsible adult in this entire franchise (hot badass space princess who like shiro did not catch a break) sacrifice herself and is left a struggling father. ends up marrying some random fucko. all while suffering through his shitass hot topic brother and blueberry disaster's doomed yaoi romance. oh yeah and he's only got one arm. give the guy a BREAK. FREE my man he doesn't deserve this 🔥🔥

Keith and Lance love pranking Pidge.

Okay, so I mentioned in a previous headcanon that Pidge wanted to prove Klance was canon, right?

Now, Keith and Lance are some pretty silly and devious boys, as we know, so they come up with the brilliant idea to gaslight Pidge into thinking they made the whole thing up. They're discussing their plan in Lance's room, when Keith snaps his fingers and says, "I got it! We should get the other's in on it too! That way it's uh..." And he pauses to count the number of Paladins on his fingers, "Four times more likely!"

And that's exactly what they do, they get everyone else in on it, even the mice.

So one day, Pidge walks into the lounge and everyone is there, and they start trying to talk about how their "experiment" went in regards to Keith and Lance dating, and everyone just gives them a confused look, like "What are you going on about?"

Keith and Lance look at each other and go

L: "Seriously, Pidge, I'd think I'd know if Mullet and I were dating, nothing is going on, what are you talking about?"

K: "Yeah, besides, when have you ever seen us actually getting along?"

And Pidge is baffled, they're so confused as to why the two are denying it.

this is how the rest of the conversation went:

P: "You guys literally kissed... Right in front of me."

H: "I dunno, Pidge, don't you think we'd all know by now? I mean, those two are pretty bad at hiding things."

S: "I agree, I've known Keith for a while, he's like family. If they were dating, he would have told me."

K: "Exactly."

P: "But-"

A: "Yes, and Lance tells me everything about what you on Earth call Gossip every time he invites me to do those fun face masks."

C: "I would've found some trace by now, I'm sure."

P: "Guys I swear! I saw it happen!"

L: "Look, Pidge, buddy, we know you want me and Keith to be a thing, but we just aren't, you we're clearly imagining things."

C: "Quite so. Have you considered that it may have been a dream?"

P: "I... I'm gonna go take a nap..."

Once Pidge has left the room, Keith and Lance burst out into laughter and fall into each other's arms, giggling until their eyes are teary.

Extended Languages Headcanons!

Lance: Cuban Spanish

Hunk: Samoan & bits of Tagalog from childhood friends (helped him learn Spanish faster w Lance bc a lot of the words/roots are similar)

Pidge: some Hebrew (& binary code, Morse code, fuckin Latin, etc.)

Keith: knows simple Korean & the swears (was learning as a kid but oops #deaddad)

Shiro: knows basic Japanese (I like to think that he, like Keith, had a rebellious era so he hated learning but as an adult tries to pick it up again) also some Korean bc tween Keith was feisty

Allura: Garla, Altean (maybe some other planets bc of trade, balls, royalty things idk)

Coran: weirdly a lot?? Apparently went like planet party hopping and picked up a bunch of

I think everyone learns Altean eventually bc it’s the ship and it’s like a dead language 🧍but Lance and Pidge learn the quickest ok the concept of shit talking in another language

They definitely pick up phrases from each other (especially bc they don’t have any one to practice it with and they don’t wanna forget :(

In rewatching s8 i have some thoughts. Why it didn’t work as an ending, and what i think could have been changed.

WARNING THIS POST IS LONG AS FUCK, so strap in if you’re interested.

- The feel of the writing is distinctly off. Not bad, but it doesn’t feel like you’re watching Voltron anymore. It feels grittier and more like a high stakes adult animation than the other seasons. Which, again, isn’t necessarily bad, but the shift is too quick and it could have been executed better if they spent more time digging into the individual characters and their growth during s6/7.

- The issue of ‘there’s always a bigger enemy’ starts to make the plot feel stale. You get bored of a bigger robot, higher stakes, more to lose. They start killing people and planets for a cheap audience reaction when we weren’t all that invested in the first place. It felt like a split second decision by the writers to destroy Olkarion. Something like that needs to be pencilled in from the beginning. There were too many attacks on Olkarion, and as a consequence we got too used to seeing it’s people in peril. There should’ve been a distinct shift where we, as the audience, realised Voltron wasn’t going to be there to save them this time. Whether that’s a writing, animation or atmospheric issue i’m unsure. Maybe it’s just a me thing.

- The Atlas should never have been able to transform. That for me was the biggest investment turn off. Why do we need Voltron anymore if there’s a bigger, stronger robot on their side? If they were going to replace the castle, they should have made it clear and stuck with the intention. That’s not a support ship anymore, that’s something else entirely. I’d gladly watch a show JUST about the Atlas, with Shiro at the helm, but it’s not Voltron.

- Too many things happen at once, and it’s massively convoluted. 13 episodes is not enough time to: introduce a romance, have me actually care about that romance, kill off a main character, form a new version of voltron, redeem three main antagonists, AND cutely tie up all the glaring plot holes of the show. S8 needed to be two seasons at least. If things were spread out and more passion was pumped into the writing, it could’ve worked.

- Allura’s character was ruined. She became a nagging, reckless, martyred love interest. I love her dearly, i have from S1, but they did her SO dirty. Lance, too. They both deserved better.

- I think, personally, that Sendak should’ve been the final villain. Not Honerva. Her arc was rushed and her CORE motivation made little sense. They used the flimsy excuse of her corruption to redeem her love for Lotor, and his name was literally raked through hell and back for a very mediocre payoff. If that was the plan from the start, it needed to be hinted at more.

- There was too much, as i call it, flip-flopping. The alteans are alive, now they’re evil, now they’re not. We can’t get into Oriande, but now we can! Personally, i need explanations, and strict universal rules. If those rules are to be broken for whatever reason - it has to be a show stopping exception and a main event. Everything is excused and explained away when it doesn’t make any sense.

- Now, i actually really likes the subtle art style and animation adjustments in the season, visually it was spectacular so i have no critiques there. If only the plot could have done its outer shell some justice.

AND GET LANCE OFF THAT DAMN FARM.
