I’ve now been able to read the full post (was using Twitch on my phone so I couldn’t see most of the details), and apparently Magical Girl Wind and I are practically the same age.
So I’m requesting some Reader who is also a high school sophomore and has class with magical girl Wind.

Masterlist
For those who don't know, Magical au is an au that I've been working on with @cafecourage
You can find it under the omurice tag on their blog!
We spent way too much time on it guys- it’s consumed us.
For the record, it’s also modern au! So to highschool we go!
Content under the cut!
It was happening again. Another monster attack.
You sighed and watched the television as it played in the corner of the room. Most of your classmates have given up on watching the documentary and had pulled out your phone to view the livestreaming of the current attack.
It was in the middle of the main city. Try as your teacher might, he couldn’t get all the kids back on track and had given up after ten minutes when the current hero on the screen Jack as they called him, short for Jack of All Trades, was flung right through a third story window.
Wolvesbane howled in delight of the adrenaline rush and jumped into the upcoming swarm of currently faceless, three foot tall, white humanoids that used to be the thought of common citizens.
You bite your lip and twiddled your pencil between your fingers. Your desk partner, Link, had his eyes glued to the screen. He was just as tense, if not, more so, than you were.
When the heroes had started appearing with the attacks he had taken to them like a duck to water. He idolized them and wanted to know as much as he could and he was always worried about them whenever he saw them get hurt.
That’s why he was sharing his phone screen with you as you both watched the carnage on the streets. Wolvesbane was ruthless when he wanted to be.
Suddenly, he gasps and it scares the living daylight out of you. You jump in your seat and smack his shoulder on impulse. “Dude!”
“Sorry.” He points the screen. “I think I’ve seen her before.”
You look. It’s just a girl who’s been cornered. You don’t recognize her. “Who’s she?”
“The sister of-” He pauses weirdly before he says. “-a friend of mine. Wild says that she had an important interview today. Wild’s been telling all of us about it. He was so proud of her. She got caught in the middle of this. Look! There she goes!”
You don’t really know who Wild is. Link talks about this little.... club or something that he’s a part of. They’re all named Link somehow. So they go by nicknames. Which makes sense to you, but you don’t know these people. So why would you know who’s he talking about. But still, there’s a connection there between Wind and these people at is stronger than you can explain with words, so take his at face value. You look back at the screen.
The girl on the screen runs off behind a building and the monsters subsequently follow.
Link looks uneasy. “I hope she’s ok. If she gets caught, it’s over for her. Apparently, she was really hoping for that job.”
You sighed and shake your head. “If the heroes notice her, then she might have a chance. But there’s only three on them on the cite-”
“This just in! The Avatar as appeared on the scene and has split into his four copies!” The newswoman interrupts you. “From three to four to seven in moments, this could spell the end of the attack and soon we can resume our peaceful day. We need to follow this closely. Reminder for everyone to stay away from the capital until this gets sorted out. Lock all doors and windows. Do not stand too close to glass and keep a clam mind. These monster feed off negative energy and panicked or enraged thoughts. Please keep our fellow citizens safe by keeping yourself away from the damage zone.”
You purse your lips and bite the inside of your cheek. Same reminder as always. All these monsters ever seem to do is feed off of negative energy. What do they need it for? Where does it go? What does that even mean?
Link sighs a little in relief. “They might actually have a chance to end this quicker.”
“I hope so.” You sigh as well and lean back a bit so that you’re not taking over his personal space. “If it goes on for longer, we’ll have to stay in school until it’s over. Then I’ll miss my bus to get home and my mom is going to throw a fit.”
“I need to get out there.” Link whispers.
You look his way and raise an eyebrow. “And how exactly do you plan to do that? The entire place is blocked and they’re not to let you get through. They need the heroes to step in. We’re just high schoolers. We’ll only get in the way, or worse, we’ll become part of the hoard.”
Link frowns and looks your way. “About your mom... I walk home. You can come over and we can work on our geography project. Just text your mom and then she’ll know where you’re at.”
“That won’t work if were all kept here anyway.” You slump over with your fist in your cheek. “That’s a bit hard to do if we have to stay in the school building.”
“But we can still work on it.” Link points out, glancing at the screen ever so often. “At least it’s an excuse for why you would have missed your bus.”
The Captain has also joined the team of heroes. Rarely are there so many at one time. This is either worse than they want to admit or the heroes are just close enough to handle it this time around. Right place, right time sort of thing.
Link seems to look up him the most, so you don’t take it personally when he ends up being glued to his screen again just to see the shapeshifter at work.
You hum and pull out your phone, already texting your mother to let her know you’ll be late.
“Alright. I’ll take you up on your offer, but I’m expecting snacks.” You tease.
Link smiles a bit tensely. “If my sister is home, the I know she’d make some for us anyway... and then tease me relentlessly.”
“She can’t be that bad.”
“She’s worse than my brother... And he’d have a field day with it.” Link pouts and crosses his arms. “They still treat me like a little kid.”
“You’re the youngest.” You say with a soft shrug. “They’re just looking out for you. It’s not like they’re being malicious with it. I’ve seen them. You’re their entire world, Link.”
Link looks your ways and drops his bitter façade. “You think so?”
“I know so.” You smile and poke his shoulder with your pencil. “Think anyone’s getting any work done this period?”
“Nope.”
“Yeah, I don’t think so either.”

Sam and Paulina are assigned as partners for a school project.

heyo bro
“I don’t get what the big deal is.”
Sam stared at Paulina, who was standing in the middle of the hallway twirling her hair between her fingers.
“You don’t get what the big deal is? Your boyfriend literally just beat someone up!”
Paulina scoffs. “He’s not my boyfriend! And that kid was a loser anyway. His family is just a bunch of freaks.”
Sam looked at Danny who was still laying on the floor, his breath wheezing from when it was knocked out of him. “He’s not a loser.” Sam mumbled.
“Excuse me?” Paulina looked over her nails.
“He’s not a loser!” Sam stomped up to Paulina, her face inches from the other girl’s. “He’s really nice and actually likes hearing about things I want to talk about! Unlike you.”
Tossing her hair over her shoulder, Paulina turned her nose up into the air. “That’s because all you like is that spooky ooky goth stuff. No one wants to listen to you talk about ghosts and spiders and witches.”
“He does.”
“That’s because he’s a loser.” Paulina poked a finger into Sam’s chest. “Why don’t you just drop him and this freaky goth phase and come hang out with your real friends.”
“You are not my friend.”
Paulina froze. “What?”
“I don’t know what bug crawled it’s way up your ass Paulina, but if this is how you’re going to treat people now I don’t want to be your friend anymore.”
She watched as Sam walked away from her and helped Danny off the ground. Sam whispered a few things to him and he nodded. They began to limp their way to the nurses office.
Paulina clenched her fists together and her throat tightened. That’s fine. She didn’t need Sam. She had plenty of other friends. What did one falling out matter? She turned around and stomped her way in the opposite direction towards the cafeteria.
She didn’t need Sam Manson.
QQQQQ
“But Mr. Lancer!” Paulina whined, her hands resting on the top of her desk as she stood up in protest.
“I’m sorry Ms. Sanchez, but you and Ms. Manson will be partners for this project.”
Sam raised her hand. “I’d rather do my project on my own than work with her.”
Lancer pinched the bridge of his nose. “You two are partners for this project, end of discussion.”
“But-” Both girls chorused.
“That’s enough! Ms. Sanchez, take your seat.”
Paulina huffed and crossed her arms as she sat down. Why did Lancer have to assign her and Sam to work together? Hasn’t he figured out that they hate each other yet?
Her gaze flicked over to where Sam was sitting. She was angrily scratching something into her notebook. She paused and her eyes met Paulina’s. They stared at each other for a moment before Paulina sneered in her direction and looked away.
Paulina sat angrily stewing in her seat until the bell rang. She grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulder, heading out of the classroom at a brisk pace. She was putting the combination into her locker and had just gotten it open when Sam walked up and pushed it closed.
“What do you want, Manson?” Paulina snapped.
Sam rolled her eyes. “We’re supposed to work on that project together, remember? When are we going to meet for it?”
“I don’t know. Why don’t you just do it on your own and write my name on it.” Paulina twisted the dial on her locker again.
“Nu uh. If we’re forced to be partners you’re gonna help with it.”
Paulina groaned and opened her locker again. “I guess we can start working on it today after school.”
“Great. I’ll meet you at your house when school is over then.”
“What?” Paulina squawked and turned towards Sam. “Why my house?”
“I don’t want my parents thinking we’re friends again.”
Paulina just stared at her but frowned when Sam pushed the locker closed again and started walking away. She clenched her fists. As if they would ever be friends again.
The rest of the day passed by both too quick and slow at the same time. She dreaded having Sam come over and having to talk to her so much that even though the day dragged on and on, when she was at home and a knock sounded on the door it felt like she had just been standing at her locker.
Paulina opened the front door, a bored look on her face when her eyes met Sam’s. They stood there for a moment before Paulina waved her in. Sam stepped in, looking around and Paulina closed the door behind her.
“So what is this project we’re supposed to be doing anyways?” Paulina led the way to the kitchen where her backpack sat on the table.
Sam sighed. “You weren’t even paying attention when he went over it?”
“I was too busy being angry at Lancer.”
Rolling her eyes, Sam set her backpack on the table and pulled some papers out. “He wants us to find a screenplay to go over. We have to read it and analyze it like we would for a book in class but he wants us to perform part of it in class.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know Paulina!” Sam threw her hands up in the air. “Why do they make us do anything? Now pick one from this list.” She threw a piece of paper at Paulina. “This is a list of plays I thought we would both be interested in.”
Paulina stared at Sam, stunned that she’d even consider Paulina’s interests when they clearly hated each other. Slowly, she looked down at the paper, her eyes scanning over the list. One popped out to her.
“Isn’t this one a musical? Does that count?”
Sam peered around at the paper. “I would think so. They’re basically plays, just with songs. I can’t see why it wouldn’t count.”
“Hm.” Paulina pursed her lips. “If we do this one are we gonna perform a song or a different part of the musical?” She looked over at Sam. She had a dangerous, determined look on her face.
“Only if we want to blow everyone else out of the water.”
Paulina stared for a few seconds, her cheeks heating up. Then she coughed and looked back at the paper.
“Yeah, okay. Let’s do that one.”
QQQQQ
“Why are they all named Heather anyways?”
Sam shrugged as Paulina squinted at her copy of the script.
They sat in the middle of the stage in the empty auditorium. The rest of their class was in the library, but Mr. Lancer had given them permission to go over their own project in the auditorium.
“What I wanna know is why there’s always so much drama in musicals set in high schools.” Sam wrinkled her nose. “Like I know we have the A-Listers and everything but this in here is so excessive.”
“What, you don’t like drama?” Paulina rested her chin on her hand, shooting Sam a smile.
“I don’t like high schoolers killing other high schoolers.”
Paulina’s smile fell. “Oh.”
“Yeah.” Sam looked down and away. She took a deep breath and stood up with her script in her hand. “Anyways. Let’s figure out which part we want to perform for the class.”
Paulina took a look at the list of songs they had. “What about Seventeen or Shine a Light? I listened to those a couple times and they both have different tones but they seem like they’d be fun to sing.”
Sam nodded. “And there’s not much about sex in either of those. That’s another thing, why do musicals about high schoolers talk so much about sex?” She faked a gag. “I think those are good choices because some of those songs would be so embarrassing to perform in front of the class.”
Paulina frowned. “If this one has stuff in it that makes you uncomfortable why’d you include it on the list?”
Sam shrugged. “I figured it’d make Lancer squirm. He didn’t actually give any specifications on what we could pick anyways. Now let’s get started. Which part do you want?”
“Oh oh! Can I have the lead part? That is, if you didn’t want it?” Paulina started standing up from where she sat on the floor.
Sam shook her head. “You can have it if you want. Want to practice Seventeen first?”
“Sure.”
The music started playing after Sam hit a button on her phone and it filled up the room.
Paulina took a deep breath.
“Fine, we're damaged
Really damaged.
But that does not make us wise.
We're not special.
We're not different.
We don't choose who lives or dies.”
Paulina looked up at Sam as she sung the lyrics.
“Let’s be normal. See bad movies
Sneak a beer and watch TV.
We'll bake brownies,
or go bowling --
Don't you want a life with me?
Can't we be seventeen?
That's all I want to do
If you could let me in.
I could be good with you.”
Paulina’s cheeks flushed but she continued singing.
“People hurt us.”
“Or they vanish…”
Goosebumps traveled over Paulina’s arms as Sam’s voice rang out towards her.
“And you're right that really blows.
But we let go…”
Sam looked up and met Paulina’s eyes and it felt like Paulina was electrocuted. She pulled her eyes away and looked back down at her paper. They finished up the song and Paulina kept staring at her paper until Sam left out a breathless laugh.
“That was so cool! I’ve never really thought about doing theater or anything because it’s not very, you know, goth. But that was exhilarating!”
Paulina watched as Sam laughed and smiled. She could feel herself falling in and laughed herself.
QQQQQ
Paulina and Sam laughed as they walked out of the school together. Their project was due in two days and they were heading to Sam’s house to practice their song a bit more.
“I can’t wait to see Lancer’s face when we discuss what the musical is about. Do you think he’ll-”
BOOM!
Sam got cut off as something exploded ahead of them, sending both girls sprawling to the ground.
Looking behind them from where she was on the ground, Paulina saw a giant animalistic ghost. It looked somewhere between a cross of a snake and a cat and it looked like it was about to shoot another blast off from it’s fangs.
Just as the blast was launched towards Paulina, something crashed into the side of the ghost's head, sending the shot soaring into the sky instead.
“Run! Get out of here!” Phantom shouted as he shot back at the ghost.
She stood up shakily but didn’t run away. She looked around the front of the school for Sam, where she saw the other girl in the middle of the sidewalk holding a...lipstick? With a determined look on her face.
What was she planning to do with a tube of lipstick?
Paulina had begun inching her way over to Sam when a green blast came out of the lipstick she was holding onto. It shot into the ghost a couple of times, distracting it from Phantom’s attacks for a moment.
It bared its teeth at Sam but Phantom punched it in the side of the head. Snarling, it batted Phantom away, sending it flying across the parking lot and it faced back towards Sam.
Paulina felt like everything was happening in slow motion. When the ghost bared its teeth again, when another ball of ectoplasm started dripping from its fangs, when Paulina ran desperately across the parking lot and barreled Sam out of the way and onto the ground just before the blast created a crater in the ground where she stood a moment before. The ghost started snarling at them again.
“Hey ugly!”
Phantom viciously threw another ectoblast at the ghost, stunning it before finally pulling it into his thermos.
Paulina gasped and turned back to where Sam was still laying underneath her.
“Sam! Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m-” Sam paused, frowning and her face flushing before she spoke again, looking over Paulina’s shoulder. “Shut up.”
“What?”
Sam groaned. “That dip is making faces over there.”
Paulina turned around to see Phantom making kissy faces at them. She raised an eyebrow at him and he paused to give her a grin.
“Okay well, my job is done. Have fun you two!”
And he jumped into the air and flew away.
“Seriously though.” Paulina crawled off of Sam and helped her up. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Why’d you do that anyways?” Her brows furrowed. “I would’ve been okay. You didn’t have to do anything.”
Paulina gaped at her. “It was about to attack you! It tried! It left a crater in the ground where you were standing! Why wouldn’t I have done anything?”
Sam looked away. “I didn’t think you cared.” She said softly.
Paulina’s stomach plummeted. “I wouldn’t have two weeks ago.” She whispered. “But then we got paired up for this project, and I realized that you’re actually very cool and that I was just really dumb in middle school.”
Sam looked at her.
“And I think I’ve always sort of missed you. But I decided to never stop being mad so I never figured that out.”
“I guess I did the same thing too.” Sam said. “I could’ve decided to talk to you on my own and talk things out after a while but I just didn’t want to.”
“But it was my fault. I was the one being a terrible person.”
“Are you going to continue being a terrible person though?”
Paulina’s mind went back to the first time Sam’s rage had been bestowed upon her, when one of Paulina’s friends beat up one of Sam’s friends. She didn’t want to be the cause of that again.
“No.”
“Well.” Sam smiled. “That’s the important part. That you’re capable of change.” She picked up her bag from where she had dropped it during the attack. “Now come on, my mom was gonna make cookies when we got home.”
Paulina smiled back at her and held up her arm to the other girl. Sam looked at it and linked her own arm with Paulina’s. Together they walked away from the school.
QQQQQ
Sam and Paulina’s chests rose up and down as they held their arms up into the air after performing the piece they picked from their musical. The class clapped for them and they lowered their arms and bowed.
“Very nice, Ms. Sanchez and Ms. Manson. Though, I wish you had picked something more appropriate than.” He squinted at the sheet they handed him. “Heathers the musical.”
Sam snickered. “Of course, Mr. Lancer. We’ll try to keep that in mind next time.”
Lancer gave her a look. “Yes, be sure that you do. Alright up next we have-”
Sam and Paulina walked back to their desks and sat down. Paulina shot a look to where Sam was sitting with Danny and Tucker, who were both making kissy faces at her while she swatted at them. Sam’s gaze met hers and Paulina waved at her before blowing a kiss to her across the room.
Sam’s face turned the brightest shade of red Paulina had ever seen it and she opened a folder and stuck her face inside it. Danny and Tucker were both teasing her even more, seemingly losing their mind about it. Paulina giggled at them and turned her focus back to the front of the classroom.

Paint My World in Shades of You (Vincent x MC)
a/n: Happy birthday Vincent <3
[Characters]: MC, Vincent, Theo
[Genre]: Fluff, Hurt/Comfort
[Warning]: None
{Paint my World in Shades of You}
I was sitting in Vincent’s room on his couch while he painted. His eyes were trained on the beautiful arrangement of flowers that rested against the window.
My eyes were trained on him; I was obsessed with his side profile. I loved the way his eyes shone with concentration, and his jaw relaxed and tensed as he worked. Suddenly, his serious expression lit up in laughter.
“When you look at me like that, I can’t help but lose focus.”
“Ah—I’m so sorry! I just—” My face heated up considerably, I must be a roasted tomato by now, “I really like watching you paint. It fascinates me so much how you create such wonderful paintings, and I was… taking mental notes of your technique,” and your face, and your arms, and your fingers, and-
“Have you painted, too, in your time?”
“Mmhm,” I nodded with enthusiasm, “though I’m still very much a beginner. I enjoy painting with a friend more than I do when I’m alone.”
“Oh?” Vincent set his palette down and faced me fully, “I can get you a canvas if you want to paint with me.”
“Right now?? I mean I’ve never worked with oil paints before… just acrylic and watercolor.”
Vincent rummaged through his supplies behind his desk, taking out a case full of paint tubes.
“I’ve got watercolors right here,” he shot me an excited smile, and my heart fluttered. How was I so lucky to have such an adorable boyfriend?
I wasn’t used to painting on large canvases— though it was still small compared to his— so I felt pretty intimidated just staring at the blank white abyss in front of me.
“What’s wrong?”
“I… don’t know where to start,” I looked back at him sheepishly.
I waved my paint-less brush on the canvas, shifting my gaze between the flower bouquet and the canvas to make a mental sketch. I caught sight of Vincent’s work in progress, and I had an idea.
“Hey Vincent, do you mind if I… copy you?”
“Hm?” He quirked his head to the side.
“I want to learn how to paint like you, that’s how I’ve always learned actually— by watching others.”
His eyes widened, and he stuttered uncharacteristically. His gaze softened, as a small blush crept up his cheeks, and he looked back at his own unfinished work.
“Well, if that’s what you want to do, then I’m all for it.”
“Yay!” I clapped my hands in excitement.
Vincent didn’t have an extra easel, so he suggested I use his. But I insisted that I can work without one. I brought a stool and dragged it close to his and started watching his every move.
“So first, I mixed these colors…” he stretched his arm out to display his color palette. It was a beautiful mess of oil paints, with a large white spot in one corner.
Time flew as we enjoyed the moment in each other’s company doing what we both love.
“I’m not sure how to make this shade…” I pouted, staring at my messy palette.
“The trick is to get a bit of ochre yellow in the mix, and then…”
We talked on and on as we painted together. I tried to keep my focus on the bouquet, but I always ended up leaning over to see Vincent’s own painting.
“Your painting should capture how you see the world, MC.”
“I know… but I can’t get it to stand out the same way yours does,” I confessed.
Vincent’s soft laughter eased my anxiety. I mixed some colors together blindly to try to create the right shade I’m looking for.
“Hey! That’s a great shade of purple you got. How did you make it?” He asked me with child-like curiosity and excitement.
I told him honestly that I didn’t know how, and we sat and experimented together. In a way, it gave me a confidence boost to see him try so hard to replicate the shade that I accidentally made.
Clearly, I had lost track of time because the sun was gone, and the lamp in Vincent’s room was the only source of light left. I didn’t even notice the change, so when I looked up from my work, I had to rub my eyes to adjust.
“Oh boy, I didn’t realize I was so focused. I think I got a small headache…” I brought a hand up to apply pressure on my forehead.
“Are you ok, MC?” Instantly, Vincent was by my side, one hand caressing my arm as I sat on his couch to regain my bearings.
It took a second, but the world stopped spinning. I took a deep breath and looked up, smiling to reassure Vincent. Worry was written all over his face, bordering guilt.
“Don’t look so down, Vinnie~ It’s nothing serious,” I giggled, scratching the back of my head.
I looked between my canvas and his. I was really proud of how it turned out! His painting definitely had better defined lines and clearer contrasts in all the right places. Mine was less impressive in my eyes, but still a full image of the bouquet, no less.
“What do you think of my painting?” I nodded towards my canvas.
“It’s beautiful just like its artist,” he brought my paint-stained hand up to his lips and gently kissed my knuckles.
“Oh you…!” I punched him jokingly with my free hand.
“Mm… I meant it,” he laughed along, shielding his arm from further assault, “I’m a lucky man to be able to share my passion with my sweetheart.”
“Vincent, you’re too sweet.” I wrapped my arms around him, hiding my tomato-red face in his chest.
I felt his arms wrap around me, too, and we sat there in comfortable silence. The smell of oil paints and flowers wafted in the air around us, as his arms squeezed me securely. It was like we were left in our own bubble and time itself had stopped for us to enjoy this moment. I pulled away eventually, needing to wash my hands and help Sebastian with dinner. Looking outside again, I realized I was already late… woops.
“I have to go prepare dinner with Sebas soon, so I’ll see you later?”
I reached up to plant a kiss on his cheek. He turned his head and captured my lips with his. How am I supposed to say goodbye like this? The thought of leaving this room, this bubble of ours, felt like I was leaving a paradise behind.
“Don’t go just yet…” He pleaded with his eyes shimmering under the glow of the lone lamp.
“How about this: I’ll go wash my hands, then come back to clean up with you. Then, we’ll walk together to the kitchen, deal?”
He nodded, “Deal.”
I went to the guest bathroom room across the hallway. Paint was a lot harder to wash off than I thought. I scrubbed at it with soap, making sure not to damage my skin in the process.
It took a solid while, so I hurriedly dried my hands and made my way back to Vincent’s room. I was standing outside when I heard—
“…and what do we have here?” A chuckle, “Were you teaching a kid how to paint?” It was Theo.
Theo and I… didn’t get along. Maybe our humor just didn’t align, maybe he didn’t appreciate walking in on us that one time when he… shouldn’t have. And maybe I was too sensitive for his bluntness. But we made an unspoken truce to avoid conflict with each other for Vincent’s sake. At least, I thought we did.
Before Vincent got a chance to speak, Theo was already inspecting the foreign painting in art-dealer mode.
“Hmm… the colors are dull, and the strokes are uneven. If they thought they could imitate you, they’ve clearly got a long way to go,” he scoffed.
“Theo, that’s not—”
“And who asked you, huh?” I couldn’t stand aside and let him talk about me or my painting like that. It meant a lot to me; it embodied my precious time with Vincent.
“So the pup wanted to paint, eh? I guess I shouldn’t have expected much, then.”
I was about to give him an earful, but Vincent stepped in.
“That’s enough, Theo! MC and I painted this together. So, if you think it looks like a child’s work, then you’re saying that about me, too.”
“What…? No! I didn’t mean—” He shook his head, choosing to stare at the wall instead. He sighed, scratching the back of his head sheepishly, “I’m sorry I said those things, hondje. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Well, that was fast. At least he’s being civil about it.
“I-it’s fine… I’m just an amateur anyway,” I hugged my arms, looking away as I tried to calm myself. I was shaking, whether it was from anger or embarrasment, I didn’t know.
The silence was killing me, so I made to start tidying up my station. I blinked away the oncoming tears—I had nothing to cry about! I enjoyed painting with my boyfriend, and Theo apologized.
So, I kept blinking. Discretely.
Or at least as discretely as I thought I was.
Theo dropped the supplies he brought in for Vincent, talked to him for a bit, and left. I wasn’t paying attention to their conversation.
“MC…”
Vincent’s voice broke me out of my thoughts. I sensed the guilt rising in his voice, so I rushed back to hug him in reassurance.
“…don’t worry, Vinnie,” I nuzzled my head into his chest, not realizing my tears had spilled onto his apron, “it’s not like I’m a professional artist anyway, he was just stating his opinion.”
His strong arms wrapped around me firmly, rocking me back and forth as he spoke.
“You are an artist just like me, with your own unique view. That, in itself, is a valuable treasure that no one can take from you,” he pulled away to stare into my tear-streaked eyes with his own saddened cerulean eyes.
Then he smiled gently, soothingly, “Art isn’t about perfection, it’s about self-expression… about sharing your world on a canvas. Today, you shared a piece of your world on my canvas, and it is my greatest honor.”
I was speechless, I couldn’t find the words to express the pride, the elation, the utter admiration I had for Vincent and his ability to always say the right things to cheer me up.
“…Thank you, Vincent. I-I really appreciate it,” I smiled brightly up to him, and my tears flowed freely down my cheeks.
He brought his right hand up to wipe away the tears, using his thumb to caress the side of my face. Try as I might, I couldn’t blink back the tears fast enough before they spilled silently down my face. I wasn’t mad, or sad even. I was just really extremely happy. It’s hard for me to explain though, and Vincent held my face in his strong hands and kissed every tear as they fell.
“We should do this again,” he declared, his hold on me never faltering, “I want to display your paintings all over my room until every part of it is immersed in the world you create.”

Jaune sat on the rooftop of the dormitory, looking at his hands underneath the night sky thousands of stars glancing down on him. Today he had under-covered his semblance, and won his first combat class fight.
--------
Finding his semblance wasn’t a particularly impressive affair. Jaune had been chosen to fight in combat class, against Sky Lark from Team CRDL, and they had fought a evenly match spar against each other.
But, in the end, Jaune was being pushed back by Sky’s superior range, the boys halbert-gun giving him the extra foot or more to strike at Jaune to push him back.
Not that Sky was a particularly strong opponent, he just had range and some leverage. He wasn’t fast like Ruby, agile like Ren or Blake, strong like Nora or Yang, skilled like Pyrrha, or had a powerful semblance like Weiss. Just more skilled, and better conditioned.
A proper opponent for Jaune really.
Even as he was being push back, Jaune didn’t feel very tired, just infuriated.
Sky wasn’t much of a talker, but he had a smirk on his face as he pecked away at Jaune’s defense scoring the occasional hit to Jaune’s aura, slowly but surely wearing away at him.
In a display of impatience, against Pyrrha’s training, Jaune tried to bash Sky’s halberd away, but the other boy maneuvered his halberd back and then quickly stabbed his halberd at Jaune’s stomach and fired a shot that had him rolling onto his back.
Jaune laid on the other-side of the arena annoyed and bitter, as Sky smirked down at him from the other side. He rose to his feet as fast as his limited training let him.
Sky gave no reprieve though, taking great pleasure in dismantling his opponent, rushing across the arena.
In that moment time slowed down, as Jaune hyper-focused. His adrenaline pumping at the max and his powerful aura improving his sense. He just wished he could finally stop this guy!
What happened then wasn’t particularly flashy, explosive, or loud.
Jaune in a moment of unconscious action as his instincts empowered by his very Soul guided his sword and his hand. He held Crocea Mor’s straight out before flipping it and holding it blade downward then plunged the blade down to the ground as Sky charged at Jaune.
There was a slight cracking as Jaune hit the tip of Crocea Mors into the concrete floor. That Crack went forward ten feet before stopping in-front of Sky Lark creating a pothole in the ground.
It wasn’t very deep maybe a inch deep depression and less than a foot across.
It got the job done though, as Sky Lark assured of his victory kept charging even as Jaune stabbed his sword down, arrogantly assured of knowing Jaune’s fighting style like the back of his hand.
He easily tripped into the pothole falling with a surprised look on his face. He managed to get his halberd in front of him halting his fall, but Jaune saw the opportunity crossing the arena quickly to deliver a powerful two-handed strike to Sky’s head.
The other boy was KO’d immediately.
------
Jaune laughed to himself on the roof, nobody could have believed what happened, not even himself, not tell Nora started running and jumping everywhere.
His teammates were so proud of him, and Pyrrha was downright hysterical with pride.
Ruby too, he even thought that Weiss cracked a smile.
After class though, Ms. Goodwitch held him back.
------
“Mr. Arc, what did you do? You’ve never shown something like this before. So I’d appreciate it if you explained it to me, to prevent any injures or accidents, of course.” Ms. Goodwitch looked at him with stern green-eyes.
Jaune gulped nervously. “Um, I won?”
Ms. Goodwitch rolled her eyes goodnaturedly, and shook her head. “No, Mr. Arc, I mean what did you do in your fight with Mr. Lark?”
“I hit him with my sword?”
Ms. Goodwitch sighed. “I mean the part where Mr. Lark tripped.”
Jaune scrunched his face pensively. “I don’t know? I thought he just tripped.”
“Acts of the Brothers are uncommon, unless your name is Qrow Branwen.” Ms. Goodwitch said with a sigh.
Jaune didn’t know who Qrow Branwen is, but he must be very unlucky.
“Come, Mr. Arc, look at the replay of the fight.”
Jaune turned his seat away to look at the large holographic screen in her office.
It showed the fight, but then she paused it when Jaune touched his sword to the earth.
“That right there, Mr. Arc. What was that?”
Jaune looked confused for a moment, thinking intently. Then he started to remember and explained. “I don’t know, I just did what my gut told me to do. Like if I did that it would cause something that would help me.”
“Hmm, lets continue.”
She played the rest of the video, Jaune’s eyes widening as he watched the cracks spread into a depression in the concrete.
“I did that?” Jaune asked pointing at himself.
“I suppose you did, less you had a guardian spirit to watch over you.” Ms. Goodwitch looked at him. “Did you feel anything else when you did that? Like possibly a pull on your aura, or feeling in it?”
Jaune thought some more. “Yeah, I think I did, like when I did that it was like the most natural thing it the world, like moving a third arm I never knew about but always used.”
Ms. Goodwitch tapped a finger on her desk, clearly in thought.
“Mr. Arc, I have a theory. If you would accompany me to the classroom, we may be able to confirm it.”
Jaune looked at her confused, but shook it off and followed her trying to piece together what was going on.
They arrived at the arena with Jaune looking the cracks and the pothole.
“Do you think you could possibly reverse what you did, Mr. Arc? It is perfectly fine if you cannot, but if I’m correct in my assumption then it should be in your capabilities to do so.”
Jaune felt at little shock, that Ms. Goodwitch believed he was capable of anything, but it was mixed with excitement. Excitement that he might have potential to do something other than swing a sword.
“Just do what feels natural to you, and of course, your aura. Let it guide you and it should come with ease.”
Jaune nodded and once again unsheathed Crocea Mors, It feeling surprisingly nice in his hands, and strangely tinglingly like a build up of static electricity was covering it, like it was eager to be used.
Jaune pressed the tip of the blade into concrete, a trickle of his reserves flowing into the stone, and then he felt like a dial with ticked. He pulled the sword up and reversed his grip to point it into the air.
There was a slight growl from the earth as it sealed back, but it all went back together, like there was never any damage at all.
“Well, well. Looks like my assumption was right after all. Come back to my office Mr. Arc, I’d like to do a couple more test and try to impart some wisdom onto you.”
Jaune looked at her excitedly, almost not noticing her words, but followed back with enthusiasm.
-------
Back at the office Jaune was excused from the rest of his classes, Ms. Goodwitch turned out to be a Dr. in Semblance theory and study, so she had the authority to remove him from class under that authority to study a potentially semblance with unknown limits or capabilities.
She moved them into a room adjacent to her office, a large arena like room, but half of it was filled with various tools, items and devices.
She turned on a holographic recorder and a robotic assistant to record them and write down anything they said.
“Why do you need that?”
“All Doctors have bad handwriting.”
------------
Jaune looked at the pot of soil before him.
“I want you to try and divide the soil without attacking it, you may use your sword.”
Jaune pressed Crocea Mors to the dirt and it trickled down like before the soil dividing in half with far less effort than the concrete.
“Fascinating, did you notice any differences?”
“It was easier.”
“Do you think you could move it? You may use you’re sword.”
Jaune looked at the soil. There was not harm in trying.
Tapping tip of against the soil and then lifted the tip up, the soil following up behind it.
“Hmm, do you think you could have it follow you?”
Jaune felt with his aura and so far nothing felt wrong, or even off.
He swung the sword soil following the tip. Other than a trickle of aura to keep it there.
He did some sword fighting with his shadow and there was no noticable change in control of the soil.
Even if he ran, jumped, or dropped his sword, though it became much more difficult to control, he remained in control of the sword.
Jaune explained it to Ms. Goodwitch when she asked.
“Could you try shaping it?”
Jaune nodded and held his sword out, and tried to picture a circle.
It took some aura but it became a circle, well actually a circle cylinder.
He made it in to a sphere.
He made all the basic shapes he could.
“Try making something more detailed if you can.”
Jaune nodded.
He focus his attention on the pyramid of soil and tried to imagine a copy of Crocea Mors.
Jaune shook this time as exertion became more difficult as the more complex the form. He grabbed his forearm with his left hand, keeping his sword steady as he modelled.
It was much more tiring but it was done.
“Do you feel any fatigue?”
“Yeah, that actually took something out of me.”
“Do you need to take a break?”
Jaune thought about it, but shook his head. “No, I just need a breathe.”
Ms. Goodwitch looked a little concerned. “If you believe so, when you’re ready, I’d like to do a last test on the soil.”
Jaune let the soil fall into a formless glob in the air. “Hit me with it.”
“Try and create a detailed model of person, or as close as you can without straining yourself.”
Jaune smiled and nodded.
He focused on dirt and steadying his sword-arm with his other. Now, who to model?
Snow Angel.
He tried to form the mass of soil into the likeness of Weiss.
It didn’t work, too lumpy. Not enough detail, trying to move it in one place destroyed another.
Agghh. ‘What if I pour more aura into?’
Jaune focused on his work and trickled some-more aura into it, pouring more and more in, it didn’t work.
If anything it made it harder to move, but he couldn’t stop, something was telling him something was going to happen if he kept going-
KA-PLUMP!
Purple rune formed into front of Jaune as his work exploded all over him, covering him in a dusting of soil.
Ms. Goodwitch had a worried smirk on her face. “I assume that’s a no?”
Jaune gave a nervous laugh.
“Now next question? Do you think you could clean this up?”
---------------------
The answer was yes. He could even remove the soil out of his clothes.
----------------------
The next several hours were spent testing his abilities on different forms of earth and minerals.
He could move and control sand, mud, and loose earth with no difficulty, changing their shape with ease. But, he couldn’t shape stone and harder more solid material.
He could make a rock float easily, repair cracks in it and make it fuse to other stone, but he could not make it change shape. Not without breaking it down into smaller ones and then reforming it. Which was much more exhausting than controlling in shaping mud, which was harder than controlling sand or soil.
The only thing he couldn’t manipulate out of tests was earth dust strangely enough.
“I suspect that is due to Dust’s anomalous properties, if you expand your control of your aura you may be able to incorporate into your semblance.”
Jaune nodded feeling tired, swinging his sword around and making his aura do things was pretty tiring after awhile.
“Anyway, Mr. Arc I’ve come to the conclusion that you have a very powerful and rare form of Telekinesis specialized in manipulation earth. You are a Geo-Kinetic.”
Jaune nodded, but a question came to his mind. “Hmm, but why do I feel more comfortable using Crocea Mors when I use my semblance?”
Ms. Goodwitch nodded. “That a good question, I have no conclusive evidence, but I have a strong theory.”
“Which is?”
“I suspect it’s a form of placebo effect and muscle memory, you channeling your aura into the sword likely makes it feel more like a point of focus, like a brush for painting. It feels more natural to you as you’re aura is more used to being in your sword. If you practice your semblance with out it you’ll likely feel just as comfortable, if not more, using your hands or gestures.”
“Huh,” Jaune then stifled a yawn. “Well, thank you Ms. Goodwitch. You’ve been a great help to me.”
“It’s my duty, Mr. Arc. As not only your instructor, but as a fellow telekinetic. Have a pleasant eveinnnngy,” Ms. Goodwitch blushed. “Oh, darn now you got me doing it too. Make sure to come around every so often to give me updates, and I’ll make sure to impart so tips to you to help with your semblance.”
---------
Explaing his semblance had been pretty simple.
“I can control earth.”
“It took you four hours to figure that out?” Yang asked.
“It took four hours to figure out what kind of earth I can manipulate. Which is all of it, minus earth dust.”
Weiss looked smug at that.
Blake then surprisngly spoke up. “Are you sure it’s a good idea to advertising your semblance to us?”
Jaune thought about it. “It doesn’t really matter, like all I’m saying is I can control like earth and stone. Not like that advertises any weaknesses. Plus I can only imagine as I get better with it, it will only become more obvious.”
A gauntleted hand smacked his shoulder, nearly bowling him over.
“Well, Jaune, I’m proud of you. With your semblance, Team JNPR is stronger than ever. But, that doesn’t mean you get to slack off now, with your first victory it’s time to move you’re training to the next stage.”
A bead of sweat dropped down Jaune’s forehead.
“Oh, joy.”
----------
Which brings us to Jaune looked at the stars.  Even tired to the bone, from fatigue and aura exhaustion, Jaune could not fight back his excitement for whats to come.
He had a victory under his belt, a semblance, good friends, and Ms. Goodwitch actually seemed to not hate him!
The future seems bright.
AN: I can’t believe Jaune got a fucking power up.

WARNINGS: therapy and suicidal thought mentions, ALSO SMUT
Previous chapter: Questions Lead to Answers
Please Read!! Hi, so I just want to let you know that this will not be the last chapter, there will be more! And please, please, pleaseeeee (if you can) go read the Marvel Aliens Comic. It will help with the understanding of "therapist/shrink Bishop". And plus, it's good. Also Tw for Suicidal thought mentions and Therapy in general. (Also one more thing. The grammar fucking sucks (I think and I know) and none of this makes a shit bit of sense)
Words: 4.8k
enjoy!
When you wake up from Cryosleep, Bishop is nowhere to be found, just like you expected but you couldn't worry about him right now, you had to be on time for the next sleep, back to earth where you heard you would be hooked up with a new therapist like every marine and crew member was. You didn't exactly know why but you rolled with it.
As you were preparing to go to sleep in the second cryo, you heard a familiar voice talking and then walked in, it was Bishop, half-naked of course. He hopped into another sleeping chamber, but before his shut, he had a few last words. "Y/n, I left something in your bag…" and then he shut his lid by himself. "Something in my bag? What?" You whisper as you are being shut in, and there goes your second sleep.
You wake up… in a hospital? You suspected everyone did but you weren’t sure. You groggily sit up, trying to really see where you were. Yep, a hospital room with one nurse sitting in the back of the room, right next to you. "Hello?" You say and the nurse gets startled. "She's awake!!" The nurse called and a bunch of doctors rush in. "Woah- woah, woah, woah, what's going on…" you say tiredly. "Well, you have been in a coma for 2 days and we are going to let you go in 2 days. Is that OK with you?" "Yeah that's fine." You say, not really knowing what's going on.
_______________________________
The 2 days have passed and you are ready to go to your new home, a lovely little one-bedroom apartment. You get in a taxi and you are off. While you are sitting with all your things, it pops in your brain, that "thing" Bishop had given you. You can't get it now, as all your things are in the trunk of the taxi.
You arrive at the new place, feeling a little nervous, but you calm yourself. It's only 2 stories, and it's the only apparent in a few blocks. The only one you could get. You step inside. Yours is on the top floor, but stairs were all good to you. You get up there, and unlock the door.
It's beautiful! It's the perfect apartment to you. You sigh. There's a couch in the middle of the place, up against the wall, and you sit on in, grabbing your stuff and opening one of the bags. You don't know what you are looking for, but you knew you were looking for something foreign. "Aha!" You say as you found it. A chip.
"A chip?" You whisper. You get up, chip in hand and head over to your computer, in your bedroom. You plug the chip in and something pops up.
WEYLAND-YUTANI CORP
W
BUILDING BETTER WORLDS
A bunch of information came up.
BISHOP-MODEL- 341-B
And other things like relations, hyperdyne information, and others you had no care about. "It's… it's you…" you say softly. He had given you a copy of himself, his system.
You wanted to start crying. You were grateful for this, but you had no way to put this to use. That was the sad part. You leave your computer open and lie down on your bed. It's not the most comfortable, but it's something. You fade off to sleep after almost 30 minutes of pondering.
The next day
You stumble out of bed, staring at the ceiling. You had almost forgot you had your first session of therapy today. To say you were nervous would be an understatement.
You left your apartment, saying goodbye to the only plant you owned, on a tiny windowsill. You called a taxi and waited out front. Every moment that passed, you spent worrying about who you would get, what you would talk about, ya know, stuff like that. The taxi arrived and you headed off, not thinking anything of the trip until you saw a sign that said: WEYLAND-YUTANI CORPS
"Ah fuck" you mutter. You really didn't like the Weyland-yutani corps cause you thought it was really fucked up. What they were doing there behind closed doors, but you held up your end as a loyal Crew Member and Science officer… like Bishop.
You get out of the car and feel the air around you, it's nice. You step into the big building, guards letting you in and escorting you to the office where you would wait for your new therapist. You fill out all of the forms you need and sit and wait.
Almost 30 minutes later someone comes out and guides you to the office and walks away without saying a word. Anxiety was tearing at your chest, you felt like you were being pulled down but then the door opened. A tall, about 5'10 man looks (up/down) at you and a shiver goes down your spine, it's a Bishop model. "Uh-" you stumble on your words. "Is something wrong?" He asks and you shake your head and walk in as he holds the door open for you.
You go to sit down at a chair across from another chair on the other side of a dark oak desk, the big Weyland-Yutani corps logo and a blue-green wallpaper all around the room. The Bishop model comes to sit down across from you and grabs a laptop from a bookshelf in the side of the room. He opens it and jots down a few notes before striking up a conversation.
"Hello miss L/n, how are you doing today?" He said and you shivered in your seat. That beautiful voice. But it wasn't like the model that you meant. "I'm fine" you said blankly, wanting to say more, like you knew him, but you didn’t. "I- I mean I'm good!!" You change your mood so he doesn't suspect anything is wrong.
"Sorry to ask again but, is there something you want to tell me, to talk about.?" He says looking up at you with beautiful eyes. "Shit, uh… well… i- this is kinda hard for me cause I knew another Bishop model. And well…" you didn't want to give all the details because you honestly didn't want anybody knowing about your sexual relationship with the synthetic. "Ah, 2 other people that I've met with have! My model seems to be popular" He smiles.
You smile gently then peer over him to see a picture of some… familiar Marines? And was that… you? "Bishop?" You ask "yes miss L/n?" He says. "Can you tell me about that photo behind you?" You ask and he nods. "Well, that's supposed to be me before my memory chip was taken out, no one knows where it is so I was transferred to the therapy unit, given a new chip, and here I am!" He put his hands in prayer position, just fingers touching.
"Do you- do you see that woman on the side?" "Yes, she kind of looks like you!" He smiles. "That's because it is! Oh Bishop, before you gave me… I mean you lost your chip, we were friends!" You smile back "oh… you are a beautiful woman miss L/n. I wish to get to know you better!" He says and you blush hard. "Same?" You blush.
You begin to talk about the things you would normally have talked about with a random person, but a little more comfortable. He asked you things like any suicidal thoughts, or any thoughts of hurting others or yourself, things like
that. You talked about your friendly relationship with Bishop and the Marines, and how you met Bishop and the others. Overall it was a comforting talk. He made you feel safe.
The end of the meeting finally came and you felt great! You found this very helpful and calming. He taps your shoulder on the way out. "I never caught your name." He says. "Y/n!" You reply. He smiles. "Such a beautiful name" and you blush. You smile at him and walk out. You felt amazing! He shuts the door behind you and you smile and blush as butterflies fill your stomach.
You walk out of the building with no care in the world. You felt free, not locked up in the Sulaco, or in your apartment, the only difference would be you could leave your apartment any time unless you felt unsafe. You sit down at the desk with your laptop and see the same stuff as yesterday. "Shit." You say as you had missed the opportunity to tell him about it.
You stare blankly at the notes, not seeing anything wrong until you scroll down the page. "What?"
⚠️ERROR
CHIP MAY BE DAMAGED
PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS ⚠️
"Hm?" You say as you take out the chip to inspect it and you see a tear on the side of the chip. You pay no attention to it as you need to sleep. You put it down on the table and head to your bed. You lie in your bed, thinking of him, Bishop. All the things you could have talked about, showed him. Maybe next time you can. You finally fade off to sleep.
A week later
"RING RING RING" the alarm sounds. "Oh fuck off" you reply to the ringing in your head. You slowly get up from the bed, knowing what today was. Another meeting with Bishop. That lit you up with joy. You had a great idea… probably not the best, but to you it was great. You went over to the computer, grabbed the chip and put it in your pocket. You got some clothes on and rushed outside, forgetting breakfast, as you were too excited for the day. You reach for your phone to call a Taxi and it's there within minutes.
Inside his office______________
"Hello Y/n!" He starts the conversation, which you knew could go two ways. "Hello Bishop! How are you?" You ask. "Oh i'm just fine! How are you?" He returns. "I'm good! I have something to show you!" You say as you pull the chip out of your pocket. "What could that be? He asks and then he sees it. "Hm? A chip?" He asks "mhm! Yours. It's your missing chip. Look, you're not going to remember this but you gave it to me before going into our second cryo sleep." You say shyly, feeling connected to him, but also feeling difficulty to breathe, not knowing how he is going to react.
"No, sadly I don't remember, but I am going to need that." He says, holding his ground. "Fuck. Bishop, please understand, this was basically a gift… please, please notice that." You cry. "I'm sorry Y/n, please give it here" he laments. Before you could say, or do anything else, you got an idea, and not a good one. "No." You say as you get up and walk out of the room. "Fuck fuck fuck!" You say as you start to speed walk as you see he is right behind you.
You turn a corner but he sees you. You head towards the exit of the back rooms. He follows and you run out of the exit, hiding behind a side wall. You grab your phone and call a Taxi. Within 5 minutes it's here and you bold out from behind the wall, Bishop watching from behind. He just stands there, knowing you are going to try to get away, but he has a task that he needs to fulfill. Getting that chip. You hop in the car and you are off.
A few minutes later you are close to your house but you see a car behind you. You are in the back seat of the taxi, so you can easily turn around but you already knew who it was. It’s been a few more minutes and you knew it was him because why would anyone be following you this long? You reach your apartment and say thank you to the already worried driver and run in before Bishop could get out of his car.
"Shiiiit" you whisper as you run up the stairs, looking out for him through the space between the railing and he's already there, about to come up the stairs. He looks up into your eyes and a chill rolls down your spine. You run into your apartment, making sure he saw which one it was. You leave the door wide open and run into the closet across from your bedroom. Your bedroom door is shut and you hope he thinks you're in there. "Y/n?" He calls and you giggle.
You guessed he heard you because you could hear footsteps coming to the bedroom door. You slowly walk towards the inside of the closet door, plotting how you are going to go through with this. You know about Weyland-yutani synthetics and most of their anatomy. You remembered that there is a slot in his neck and you have to be careful because it could damage him if you are too rough. You plan it out within the next few seconds. You burst out.
You grab hold of his neck and wrap one leg around his torso. You're eying the slot behind his ear, barely covered by his ear. You snatch it out before he has time to react and you grab the other chip from your pocket as the other falls to the ground. You shove it in the slot and just before he can lay a hand on you, his
arms drop to his sides and you jump off of him backing away into the corner of the room as he turns around.
He's seeming to scan the room and then his beautiful eyes lock with yours. "Y/n?" He says and you nod happily. "How? How did you get me? Ho-" he said as you cut him off with a hug "doesn't matter, I missed you Bishop" you hop up to kiss him but he pushes you off. "Bishop?" "Sorry Y/n, something happened, I'm not sure what it is" He walks out of the room to go sit down on the couch in the living room, just leaving you in the closet. "What the fuck?" You whisper to yourself. He did not just do that, you thought.
You walk out of the closet slowly and walk over to the couch to sit next to him, to see if you could make things a little less awkward. "Hey… are you ok?" You ask softly. "No actually. Something in my system is off. I'm trying to figure out what it is at the moment. Sorry for any discomfort that I may have caused back there." He said unsure of himself, but you could tell that he knew what he did back there and that he was sorry. You easily forgave him and tried to sit beside him on the couch.
You try to get closer to him and he let's you. You rest your head on his shoulder and he pushes you off, again.
"Bishop? What's wrong, you weren't like this before." "Again, I'm sorry Y/n something in me is twitchy. I'm trying to resolve the problem right now." He says, staring into space. "Your chip?" You ask, remembering the warning on the computer screen when you plugged it in. "Maybe, do you think it's damaged?" He asks "well I was looking at it yesterday and it had a tear in on the side.
I could try to repair it? You say and he nods. "Can I?" You ask as your hand reaches up to his neck and he nods. But before you could take it out, a large hand hovered over your neck, then softly grabbing it and pulling you closer to him. He kisses you, pulling you in, gripping your hair, or what he could grab. You missed this, you missed this greatly, and you never wanted it to end but it had to, you knew it was a glitch. You reached your hand up to the back of his neck and behind his ear and pulled the chip out.
He went blank, and you pulled away from him, looking at his glassy eyes. You hop up from where you're sitting, making sure he's ok, and you walk to your room. You inspect the tear on the chip and try to push it together but nothing is working. "Fuck" you mutter. You go over to get the glue from the corner of the table. You had a gut feeling you would fuck it up even more, but you only wanted him back and that's what was driving you.
You smeared the glue around the crack and smushed it together with little force but it stayed and your mood lightened, honestly thinking this was gonna work. You ran to the living room, excited for this to work. You hopped on the couch, Indian style in front of him and hugged his lifeless, synthetic body. You reached over and gently plugged the chip into the socket and he awoke.
As he began to blink, he started to gaze around the room until he found you. "Y/n, did it work?" He asks. His first words since you put the chip in. "I think it did!" You shake happily. He leans in for I kiss and you happily kiss him. It doesn't last long but it's something alright!. He gets up from the couch without warning and goes to the kitchen. "What are you doing Bishop?" You ask and he looks back at you and winks. "Hm…" you whisper to yourself and turn on the TV.
A few minutes later
Your favorite show is on and you are comfortable where you are at. Bishop strides into the room with a plate in hand. "Awww… you didn’t have to!" You say and he nods gently. "Well, you have helped me and now I shall give you something back." He says and you blush. He walks over to you to give you your favorite food. "How did you know this was my favorite?" "I have no clue, but I do know how to cook and make some things." He laments and you smile widely as you take the plate and dig in.
As you finish your meal, he is hooked to the TV screen. "It's a good show isn't it?" You laugh as his eyes are wide open, barely
blinking. "Oh my gods Bishop, you are hooked," you say as you lean onto his shoulder. He doesn't stop you this time and you smile. "A very good show" He murmurs. "I know right. I'm obsessed with it." You say and he chuckles. His hand reaches to your leg and gently glides up and down. "Oh Bishop let's move this to the bedroom." You smirk "Oh? Alright," He picks you up in bridal style.
You gasp but you are ok with it. When you reach the bedroom, he lets you down onto the bed slowly. He unbuttons his shirt and throws It aside. You reach to take of your shirt but he's already there, ripping it off with no hesitation. "Bishop- that was one of my favorite shirts," you say, a little angry. "My apologies Y/n'' he says as he kisses you deeply and you kiss him back. "Apology accepted" you smile on his lips. He takes one breast in hand and fondles with it slowly. "Oh…" you moan and he smiles and pushes his tongue against your teeth and you let him in.
Before you could do anything else, he pulls off of you and pulls his pants and boxers down and you see him. All of him. Fully hard, pressed against your leg. He slowly pulls down your pants and underwear in one and he sees all of you. You smile nervously and he nods. "I won't judge, I've seen you before, remember?" He says and you nod. His large hands push your legs apart and pushes you up to the bed frame, holding you up 4 inches above the bed, arms wrapped around your torso so you don't fall.
He starts a trail of kisses up your leg and you shake a little, knowing what he is going to do. He reaches your sex. "Is this ok?" He asks and with a quiet "mhm" his tongue delves into your folds and you let out a gasp. His tongue circles around your clit slowly and your knees shake. One of your hands reaches over to grip his hair and the other, to grip the sheets for support. His slow circles got faster until you couldn’t take it anymore. you're shuddering, and quivering under him.
"Bishop… oh! I'm gonna-" he cuts you off applying the perfect amount of pressure to your clit and you explode with pleasure. "Ah-AH!!" You scream, knowing you have neighbors but you couldn't give a shit right now. Your chest is rising and falling as you are still in his arms, coming down from your high. "B- Bishop… you're too good for me" you laugh and he rises from your heat and smiles.
He sets you down on the bed gently and grips the sides of your waist. His cock is even closer to your pussy than before. You move your hips closer to his stomach and he takes the hint as he lines himself up with your entrance. You moan out for him to continue and as soon as you know it, his tip is in, letting you adjust to his size. "Please" you moan with soft eyes looking into his. With a snap of his hips, his cock is all the way in you, and you scream out his name.
"Are you ok with this?" He asks. "Mhm!" You say, holding back tears. He slowly starts to thrust and he leans down on you and buries his head in your neck. everything that is coming out of his mouth are moans and grunts. Your eyes roll back into your head and your head is chin up. "You're doing- s- so good." You call out. He smiles, leaving a trail of kisses up your neck as one hand makes it to your neck and grips it lightly. He speeds up his pace and the pain quickly turns into pleasure.
You wrap your arms around him as he's pumping in and out of you, your nails digging into his back, feeling around it but also trying to get a grip on him. He sucks on the skin of your neck, leaving a light bruise there, and you moan softly. As he's pounding into you, you notice that the bed frame is wiggling out of place but you couldn't care less. Every thrust is hitting your G Spot and a single tear falls down your face.
One of his hands reaches down to your clit, while the other tightens around your neck slightly, to a comfortable position. "Ah! Bishop!!" You yell out and his thumb speeds up against your clit. Your legs begin to shake, and your hand grips the sheets. He grunts loudly, and his thrusting speeds to an unhuman pace and you are in a heaven on earth. You are moaning
his name, quite loud but you didn’t care if anyone heard.
"D- don't stop" you moan out and he grunts as he pounds harder into you, a finger faster around your clit. His thrusts were getting sloppier and sloppier as he began to grunt even more. With one more thrust came a loud "CRACK" from the back board of the bed frame. You couldn't think straight with all the pleasure coursing through your veins, making you feel ecstasy."f- fuck… the bed frame!" You say bet he shushes you. "Im- i- im-" you try to make out but he whispers in your ear "Please do my love." As he applies more pressure to your clit. And you cum violently around his cock, moaning his name, and scratching his back wildly.
As you are cumming around him, a hot liquid shoots into you and you quiver under him one last time. He falls on top of you, not too harshly, but hard enough to make you squeak. You try your best to push him off of you but he won't budge. He finally notices he might be hurting you and pushes himself up. Right before he could say something, or smile even, you pushed him off of you, and under you. "Y/n?" He smirked and you positioned yourself over his cock, hovering on top of it, looking into his cow eyes.
"I'm not done, Bishop" you sigh and smile, a little self conscious but you knew he wouldn't judge. You moan as you lower yourself onto him and his head flies back onto the pillow and he lets out a low groan. You position yourself so that you are sturdy enough to start moving. You start to move up and down on him and he grabs hips gently. He's helping you move on him and you start to smile, one hand playing with your clit, and the other on his soft chest.
"Oh!" You shout and he grunts, you assume to speed up, so you do. He's moving his hips to the rhythm of your pumps. You flung your head back, do to all the pleasure and body heat emitting off of you and him. Every thrust he made would send you into a galaxy full of stars that you've never seen before. The pace was perfection; The strength was immaculate; The feelings that you felt were like nothing you had ever experienced before, and all you could think about was hoping this moment never ended. He's perfect. He's lifting you up and down his shaft and everything goes numb for a second but you are holding on perfectly.
You look into his eyes as he looks back into them with a gleam in his. You keep a stare on him while he's making you feel like you could explode. You rock your fingers around your clit even faster than before. You are a moaning and panting mess above him, but you held eye contact with him until you couldn't see straight anymore. "Im- MPF," you say as you pulse around his cock, cumming for the last time. As your walls are gripping his length, his legs are slightly convulsing under you. He left you buzzed. You wondered if he could actually feel something, or what it was like for him.
As you are coming down from your high, he's trying his best to sit up. He does and hugs you while you are still on him. You breathe hot against his neck, panting, and slowly letting go of your grip on him. He begins to massage your scalp; it feels amazing. Then without warning, he lifts you off of him and you gasp. He sets you down beside him and you get under the sheets but he just lies there. You snuggle close to him and he stretches one arm around you and you bury your head into his underarm.
"Hey bishop…" you say and he turns his head your way "How did you emit that much heat when I was riding you?" You ask and he chuckles "Ok, so let me make it simple; it's kind of like when a computer heats up because there is too much going on in the system processor, or anything else that would make it slower or heated." He says with a wide smile. "Oh… was I overheating you?! I'm so sorry!" You cry but he laughs again "no, it's not your fault, it's all the energy building together in me." He says and you connect the dots after a second. "Wait, wait, wait, so you're telling me-" you say but he cuts you off with a nod.
"Yes, when I participate in sexual activities, such as intercourse, my system will
create sudden bursts of energy. It does not hurt me but I do feel it. It's… pleasuring, so I can produce a human-like orgasm." He laughs once more. His laugh is so sweet. "Wait, so have you ever Masturbated before?" You ask and he nods "Yep, multiple times. Just to feel something, anything really. It's not a required function, it's just something I do to "feel good,"" He answers. You thought it was quite sad that he only did that to feel, but it also made you glad that he could actually do something like that, to take care of himself, his body, like that.
He slowly sits upright on the bed and you frown "What's wrong?" You ask and he shakes his head. "Nothing, I just don't sleep." He says firmly and you forget he's a synthetic for a split second. "Well, what are you going to do all night?" You ask. "I think I might watch that show and make you something in the morning." He smiles and you yawn "I'd like that very much." You smile back, hugging him one last time before laying back down and heading off to sleep.

Yay For 10 Years!🎉🎉
Tumblr media
*Psst, click the image for higher quality!*
I have zero shame in saying that this show (and all related media) has changed my whole life in so many ways! I’m also not shy about the fact that my heart belongs to Yuri (I think he's so cool!) so of course he was the obvious choice for who do draw and write a short, light hearted fic about (which you can read below the cut!)💚💙
I hope everyone has had a lot of fun on this day!
“Let’s see here… Kotetsu Kaburagi damage report… Kotetsu Kaburagi damage report… Kotetsu Kaburagi... damage report…” Yuri exhaled, massaging the bridge of his nose in exasperation as he leafed through a mountain of crinkled, coffee stained documents. It was of little to no surprise that the pile of paperwork that had been left on his desk while he was away on his lunch break could mostly be attributed to the more reckless half of Sternbild’s prized crime fighting duo. With  a sigh Yuri lifted the receiver of his phone, intending to politely  remind Tiger once again not to use his paperwork as a coaster. However,  before he could dial the number it had begun to ring.
“Justice department, Yuri Petrov speaking.” he answered, suppressing his annoyance and replacing it with his usual polite tone.
“Good afternoon Mr. Petrov, it’s Agnes. As you might be aware, today is the ten year anniversary of the Justice Tower’s remodeling.” She explained.
“Remodeling?”
“Yes. Ten years ago today all of the walls were repainted and appliances replaced to give it a more modern look to reflect a new era of Heroes.” She stated, as if that really explained anything at all.
“That is quite lovely to hear Ms. Joubert. The paint is, uh, a very nice color.” he stated politely, not even sparing a glance at the boring grey walls that surrounded him.
“Look, you don’t have to flatter me, I couldn’t care less about the paint color either. The sponsors are complaining that the returns on their investments are decreasing so we need to drum up some interest and we need to do it fast. Anything can be a reason to celebrate if you look at it right way, right? I mean, do you have any better ideas?”
“Ms. Joubert, I’m merely a judge… I apologize, but I don’t see what this has to do with me.”
“Yes, precisely! You’re a judge, bringer of justice, upholder of the law!” she passionately proclaimed “Apollon media stands for justice, as such it’s only natural that we feature a man of true justice like yourself..”
Yuri elicits a sound of smug approval and leans back in his chair “Well, I suppose when you word it in that way I may be able to see your point.”
“Fantastic! So, of course our main heroes are our star attraction, our second league heroes are a nice side dish, but you’re probably somewhere right below that when it comes to your importance in delivering justice. ”
“Oh… is that so?” Yuri asked as his briefly amused tone fell flat at her backhanded remark. Was she trying to insult him?
“Precisely.” she said as though she believed she had just bestowed upon him the complement of the century. “I was thinking, in a way you’re kind of like a minor hero yourself so maybe we could spin it as something like a ‘Meet Sternbild’s Hidden Heroes!’ segment. Of course we’ll save all the big questions for our real heroes but maybe at some point we could get your perspective on what you think of the decor of the tower and what it’s like to be a judge.”
As he began to feel the backs of his eyes grow warm he made the quick decision to end the call there before he lost his composure. “Agnes, you always have incredible ideas and I wish you all the best with pursuing that. Thank you for the information, I'll think it over. I’ll be returning to my paperwork now but please don’t hesitate to contact me again when you are in need of further assistance.”
“Oh, you're doing paperwork? In that case, this is actually a great opportunity. Stay put and act natural, I’ll be there in just a minute with the supplies and the film crew.” Agnes made a point of hanging up quickly before he even got the chance to protest.
Just as she’d promised, Agnes and her posse were barging into his office and shoving cameras in his face before he’d even been able to sign off on the first document. She wasted no time in bounding right up to his desk, turning towards the camera.
“Would you look at that, Sternbild’s very own Judge Yuri Petrov, hard at work as usual!” She gracefully spun around and held the microphone out to him “So tell us Yuri, what are you working on currently?”
He pursed his lips, just barely masking his disapproval. He had never been one for interviews, especially not while presenting simply as Judge Petrov, so he figured it best just to blurt out a few simple answers and get it over with quickly. “Well you see, Wild Tiger has again destroyed more property in one week than a group of delinquents could in their entire lifetime." He motioned to the papers in front of him "As you can see, I have a lot of damage reports that I need to-.”
It was rather frightening how suddenly Agnes was able to snap out of her charming, professional mode. “Hey! Take your job seriously!” she shouted, slamming her hands against his desk. “You’re supposed to say ‘Heh heh, I’m sure you would love to know but that’s confidential.’ and wink at the camera or something like that.”
“You’re right, my apologies." Yuri said. He tucked a lock of his hair behind his ears, shuffled his papers, and started again. Sorry, I can’t tell you what I’m working on as doing so would violate the code outlined in article 371 B of the Sternbild judic-”
“Ugh, forget it, moving on. Ahem, soooo Mr. Petrov, why don’t you tell us a little bit about what led you to become a judge and why serving justice is so important to you.”
“Ah, well that one is simple.” he said, putting on the vaguest semblance of a friendly smile “I believe that justice is important.”
Agnes nodded her head, the microphone still pointed at him for a moment longer. That is, until the moment passed without him saying anything else. “I-is that all?”
“I’m not sure what else can really be said on the topic.” he stated matter-of-factly.
“Jeez, who hired this guy…” she muttered. “Well, can you at least tell me what you think of the new penholders?”
“Aren’t these from ten years ago?”
“Well they’re newer to you because you only started working here just within the past two years.”
“Mm, I see… but couldn’t the same have been said for the pen holders that were here before the renovation if they were still here now? Does being new to me really make them new?”
Agnes lowered the microphone and gave him a look that would make even Lunatic tremble in fear. “Alright, I had hoped we could avoid it but you’ve left me no choice but to resort to plan B.”
The words “plan B” didn’t leave the most pleasant feeling in Yuri’s gut and, for a moment, he almost considered interjecting and asking to restart the interview. However, Agnes already had her mind made up and was knocking his paperwork and carefully arranged pens aside to make room for a large box displaying the company logo. She rifled through the contents, producing a large cupcake bearing red and green candles in the shape of the number ten among other various party related items.
“Bring it in.” Agnes motioned her crew closer to get a better shot as she rounded the corner of his desk and placed a large, blue and green party hat on his head, pressing it down to try and make it sit smoothly atop his curly hair. “You like these colors, right?” she asked, as if the colors were what might be wrong with this.
“Well, yes but…” he started, but she silenced him with a simple wave of her hand.
“Alright, great. Here, put this in your mouth.” she said, shoving a party blowout, rather reminiscent of Sky High's suit, towards his lips “Try not to get any lipstick on it, we need to reuse this for next year.”
“May I ask why you are making me do this?” Yuri asked, his resolve wavering.
“I’ve decided we’re doing a magazine interview instead. I’ll write out all of your answers for you, we just need a few photos of you to accompany them. Now, pretend like you’re having fun!” she reached back into the box, grabbed a handful of confetti, and sprinkled the colored paper over his head. “Cain, go go go!” she instructed, hoping not to have to waste all of their confetti on just one shoot.
Yuri complied, albeit begrudgingly, but only because it seemed to be the only way to put an end to this save for burning the place down. He gave her the smile she requested, posed with the cake, and shuffled his papers around a few more times to make it look like he had been working.
“Alright, that’s a wrap.” Agnes said at last “This should be enough to work with." She said as she began to pick what confetti she could from Yuri’s hair and place it back into the box.
“Ms. Joubert, I must ask, will something like this really be helpful to our image?” Yuri sighs.
Agnes closes up the box and sets it on the floor beside his desk.“Well, it will be interesting, that’s for sure.” she answered vaguely, “Thanks for your time, I think I can use what I got. I saw you eyeing it so you can keep the cake as compensation, just have the other stuff back to me by this evening.” She had already turned to leave before another thought popped into her head “Oh, and Yuri?”
Yuri, rather reluctantly, looked up with a questioning look. He prayed it wasn't another weird question or dumb photo idea.
“Maybe try to be a bit more cheerful sometimes, with an attitude like that people are going to start thinking you hate heroes or something. Plus, you actually look sort of pleasant when you’re smiling and having fun, even if you're just faking.” she shrugged. “Anyway, I’ll have a copy of the issue on your desk when it comes out.” she said, waving her crew after her and closing the door behind them.
Yuri, now alone in his trashed office, exhaled a sigh of relief at her departure. “I suppose the public wouldn’t be too pleased if they thought their judge hated heroes.” he remarks to himself as his glowing fingertips make contact with the candle wicks and set them alight. Once his hand had cooled he brushed it across the surface of his desk and collected the remaining confetti, repeating Agnes’s words from their phone call earlier about how anything can be a reason to celebrate. He took the stack of papers and shoved it into the bottom drawer of his desk. In a swift movement he sat back and tossed the confetti into the air above his head in celebration of ,what he just decided, was going to be a well deserved and much needed day off. As the scraps of paper rained down on him he recalled  her other words and smiled to himself.

Author notes: fucking finally, I'd say. Sorry it took me so long to post it after I decided to revamp this series. Here goes my belated 300 special med student!Kuroo. Please note that this is written based on the med school model we have here, in wich we get the MD degree right away, without the pre-med division they have in USA.
PS: DAI¹ stands for diffuse axonal injury, a type of brain damage caused by violent shakes (acceleration/deceleration/shaken baby syndrome) of the head. No worries, banging your head against a hard surface isn't supposed to give you it. If you get confused by any medical terms, pls hmu!!
Warnings: me trying to be funny. Cursing (reader swears like a sailor here).
I – Lehninger principles of biochemistry
Previous || Next
Your head was throbbing. The professor's voice dragging through your ears made the discomfort you felt even bigger.
The first class of the day have barely started and you were already regretting leaving your bed.
You let out a shuddering breath while your fingers found their way to your temples. You massaged the area, trying to ease the headache.
"You look like shit" the voice came from your right. Shirabu gave you a sideways glance before going back to his notes. "Let me guess, your neighbor again?"
"Yeah, the bastard was up all the night. I still can hear his bed pounding into the wall and the girl trying to muffle her voice" You groaned.
"Ew. Gross" The blonde's face contorted in a grimace "Am I the only one weirded by the fact you never saw the guy?" He asked frowning.
"Hell, no. But I don't think I wanna meet him anytime soon." Your reply was earn; you wouldn't know how to react if you ever saw the said man. "Besides, the guy has this strange schedule. He leaves early in the morning and comes back late at night, it's kinda weird"
"Weird is the way you know him so well and never saw him before" You ignored your him and turned your attention back to the professor. Twenty minutes into the lecture, the door was open and a raven hair peaked from it, sitting on the desk available in the front row.
You mood automatically got worse just by the sight.
"You're staring" Shirabu's uninterested voice ringed in your ears again "Why don't you admit you have a thing for him already? It would make our lives a thousand times easier"
"I just dislike him. I can't stand that dumbass" You retorted grimacing while scribbling down in your notebook. God, you hated biochemistry.
"Yeah, keep repeating that and someday you'll believe it."
"Why you all keep saying it?" You winced at the high pitch of your whisper "The guy ain't special. He is an asshole, honestly"
"Deep down you only say it because he told you were 'just okay' in our first week of freshmen year" The male gave you a pointed look. "I know it's you just being petty, but it's pretty obvious you have a crush on him"
"Hell no, I'd rather have the whole Lehninger shoved down my throat" Your classmate scoffed by your side, resuming to his notes.
"By the looks Haruno-sensei is sending in our direction, it's going to happen anytime soon."
Tumblr media
"For this term, you'll send me an essay about peptides with especial focus on physiologically active ones and their major role on human organism." The professor said, sending a stern glare though the class. "Pay attention to the next slide. It contains a table with the pairs I've assigned for this paper"
What the hecking heck?
Your mind went blank but you still heard Shirabu snickering by your peripheral. For such a stoic man, he was pretty out of character today. That little shit.
"Beware the addressed pairs won't be changed in any circumstances. Don't even bother to try" The woman said as she addressed the whole class a cold glare. Goddammit med school and its goddam professors. "You now can discuss this paper. Remember this essay is worth half the grade"
"Fuck" you cursed as your forehead banged onto the thick textbook.
"Whoa, be careful" The teasing voice made you painfully groan "We don't want this pretty brain of yours getting a DAI¹ before we start this paper"
"It's too early in the morning to deal with you, Kuroo" Your retorted came muffled as you pressed your face even flatter into the book.
"It's too early in the morning for you be ranting about everything but you don't hear me complaining, kitten" He jabbed at you, laughing it off as mere teasing "Is it fine if we start the paper on this weekend? I gotta volley practice the whole week."
"Sure. Wanna meet up on the public library?" You asked gathering your things, as you turned to Shirabu and saw him cocking an eyebrow at you.
"Fine by me" The male scratched the back of his neck, giving you an awkward glance "Actually, I wanted to ask you phone number" You stiffened "Aw [Surname]-chan, C'mon! You know it's easier."
"But what for? You already have my institutional email"
"You're too formal for your own good, woman" He handed you his phone, nudging the device into your palms "Where do you think this strict act is going to take you?"
You rolled your eyes at him again.
"Actually, Kuroo-san" You made a pause, voicing the words with candour "I want chaos and world domination. But in order to do it, I need to overthrow the dean first" You said while punching the numbers onto the chapped screen of his phone. The ravenette snorted at your reply.
"Oh shit, you're so weird!" And he left out a hyena laugh.
"Way to impress a girl, huh"
"Only the ones I'm trynna woo" The male smirked when he saw your dumbfounded face.
"Huh? Big words coming from a nerd" You brushed off his provocation. You knew he didn't mean it, but you couldn't prevent your heart to skip a beat.
"Oi, [Name]! What do you mean?"
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, the week went smoothly. No Kuroo incidents nor professors bitching over the struggling students.
It was saturday and you were more than ready to spend a whole day inside the library with the ravenette.
Sarcasm? Check.
It wasn't like you hated him. If you were to be honest, it was the other way around — but you would never give Shirabu the taste of being right.
Kuroo just had a special way of getting under your skin. He knew what buttons to push and how to make feel flustered.
You were indeed whipped for him in your first year, but he was an asshole back then — It was kinda comprehensible though: being new to the infamous uni life, freshmen were always seeking acceptance from other people.
Kouhai trying to impress their senpai.
Jocks trying to make a number on the female population.
You trying to grab the attention of that hot guy from welcome ceremony — yes, the one who ended to be the bane of your campus existence.
Yada yada.
But when Kuroo turned you down — without you confessing first, you may add —, your pride was incredibly hurt. You then declared war. Best way to rile up a med student? Make your grades better than theirs.
But of fucking course Kuroo wasn't your regular med student. The competition only provoked meaningless banter — and it annoyed you even more because you couldn't get into his nerves the same way he did to you.
"Oi, [Surname]! You good there?"
"Yeah, yeah, get back to the damn peptides" You definitely despised biochemistry.
You rummaged through the books sprawled over the desk, searching for your Lehninger copy.
"Where the fuck that huge ass book went to?" You murmured, getting ready to go check on your backpack.
Glancing towards your classmate's direction, you spotted it under one of the textbooks he was using, but before you could reach for it, you felt hands gingerly wrapping around your chin, making your eyes lock into his stare.
"What are you doing?" You knew the warmth in your cheeks wasn't being provided by his body temperature.
"Conducting an experiment" He said as you melted under his attentive stare.
"Huh?"
"You know, they say exchanging looks causes an increase on Oxytocin synthesis in hypothalamus" The male smirked when a vein popped on your head, your brain recalled that science paper about the physiology on human and dog interactions. You wanted chaos and world domination — but in order to make it, you had to kill Kuroo first.
"Are you fucking calling me a dog?" You squinted at him, ready to fight. He laughed as your slapped his hands off of your face.
"Oh, come on, it was just a joke. You know the hormone of love doesn't work this way." His hyena laugh made presence as the bibliothecary gave you two a dejected stare.
Just a joke, huh?
For a med student, Kuroo Tetsuro would make a shitty doctor if he didn't know how bad his smile was for your heart.

Anime! Fictional! BTS x Real World! Reader- Welcome To My World~ Episode 1
HEY HEY! IM SO EXCITE! Btw who here plays BTS World? This is very loosely based off that.
I need to download it again tbh.
CHECKOUT MY MASTERLIST HERE!
Leggo!
...
What does it mean to escape? To get away. If it means leaving behind all you know, all you’ve been raised to know, all you’ve been led to believe, with just yourself and the clothes on your back. Scary, but thrilling. Terrifying, but inviting. Unbelievable, but definitely possible....
...
On a early Tuesday morning where the sun was barely grazing the orange sky, you sat by your windowsill. You were dreamily staring out into the halo that was a mixture of red and orange. The halo of greyish clouds matched your mood to a complete tee. The aesthetic beauty of nature wasn’t enough to make you smile or even blink twice, however. It was always like this though. Yet something about this scene made you go sour.
Releasing a sigh, you stepped away from the window, shutting the curtains. Another day, the same thing. All you could do was attempt to power through.
As you lazily pulled your shirt over your head, you had managed to dodge that annoying dog. The little brat wasn’t even yours, but your oh-so loving step-sister’s. He always had a affinity for making your room a hot mess.  Only yours in particular.
“Get out of here you little-.” you chased the dog out of your room, slamming your door as it scurried off. “What did you screw up this time?” you curiously scanned the room. Everytime that little fluffy beast rammed his little head into your personal space, something would end up broken, ripped, shattered, or completely destroyed beyond repair.
You almost screamed when you saw a familiar book cover on the floor. You instantly dropped to your knees, praying to yourself that it wasn’t true. The cover had a pretty violent looking rip along with the first few pages.
Your absolute reason for waking up in the morning was tarnished. A signed cover of BTS Universe Issue #1. Probably your one and only favorite series on planet Earth. You gingerly picked up the book, trying to inspect it with hopes that the damage was minimal. As little as this was, you almost felt like crying. However there was no time, you needed to tape up the pages and fast! Who cares if you missed breakfast.
...
“Morning Y/N!” Your step-dad greeted you in the kitchen. “You were upstairs an awful long time, I was about to send your mother to see if you were still up playing that game of yours!” he smiled warmly.
“Thanks Mr. Chai.” you replied politely. “I’m sorry I’m so late.”
“You know...Y/N...you could call me Dad.” he set a plate down on the table. “I know I’m not your father, but I want to be the best father-figure for you because I know...you haven’t really had that.”
You had to stop yourself from saying anything else. You haven’t had the best parental relationship, and your new step-dad really was trying. Maybe it was just his daughter that drove you nuts.
“Thank you.” you replied, smiling. “...Dad.” you winked, making finger guns. “Geez! You made a lot of food for just the four of us”
“ Well you ain’t see muffin, yet!” he winked. “You and Nari have a busy day today. She auditioning and you, my friend....well I don’t know exactly what you have planned for the day.”
“I’ll tell you if we can skip the food related puns.” you sat down at the table. It was a rule that everyone waited for everyone else. Even though you had taken the extra time to repair your copy of BTS Universe, you had seemed to be the first person down the stairs. In all honesty, you were just going to hang out at the comic store until Nari called to tell you she was done.
“Hey now, Donut kill my vibe!” he continued, laughing. “I have a million more of these, come on. Don’t go bacon my heart, Y/N.”
“Good job Y/N, you’ve gotten him started.” You mom came down the stairs in her little blazer and pencil skirt. “Whatever will we do now.”
“He did it himself, the guy’s an animal! You married a wild child, mom.” you joked. “He might just be a serial killer.”
“Don’t you mean...cereal killer?” he held up a box of Raisin Bran to make his point. You could only shake your head as your mother and step-father laughed together. Food related humor so early in the morning had to mean today wasn’t going to be a horrible as it started, at least for you.
“WHERE ARE MY THIGH HIGH BOOTS!” you heard a screech from upstairs. “THEY BETTER NOT BE IN YOUR ROOM, Y/N!”
“...WHY WOULD I WANT TO WEAR YOUR SHOES!” you yelled back after taking in a deep breath. “NARI, IF I WANTED TO BREAK MY ANKLES, I’D HAUL MYSELF DOWN THE STAIRS.”
“When will you two get along?” your mom shook her head. “It’s been three years.”
“We don’t not get along.” You shook your head. “Not my fault she’s difficult.”
“I can think of a few times you’ve been difficult yourself, young lady.” you mother pointed a stern finger at you. “Like when you locked yourself in the room to read that silly cartoon of yours.”
“It’s not silly.” you defended yourself.
“Oh come on!” Nari’s voice voice could be heard alongside some loud footsteps. “I think it’s cute to be honest. Y/N here actually has a hobby besides stalking celebrities online.”
“Shut up, Nari.” you grumbled. “And keep your dog out of my room! He ruined my signed copy of BTS Universe!”
“Dorie got out again?” she seethed, looking annoyed. “I really have to put a bell on that dog.”
“Yeah.” you sighed, you bummed mood returning. Everyone knew just how much you loved that edition. You kept in in a super special display case, you cleaned the case every week, you kept your other issues on their own bookshelf along with your figurine and digital visual novel editions of the series. You were even on the buyer’s list for the special early anime release. You LOVED this series. Not even Nari dared to disrespect something as important as that, and she loved getting under your skin.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to find another one.” your mother set down a bowl of cereal in front of you along with a muffin. “Now eat, you have a big day today.”
“Yes mam.” you replied, helping yourself to some cereal.
“If you want, you can take a muffin or bagel with you.” your step dad said.
“Dad! I can’t, I have to be super focused remember? Breakfast will just slow me down!” Nari scoffed.
“Not having breakfast will make it even worse, dummy. Dude, you’re gonna pass out on stage.” you threw a tiny cereal piece at her. “Eat something.”
“I’ll eat later, I just have my eye on the prize and nothing is going to stop me.” Nari stood up determined.
“Will you at least eat some toast, crazy girl.” your mother said. “Y/N’s right, you need to at least have eaten something to calm your nerves. Y/N make sure Nari eats something before you two go your separate ways.”
“I’ll try, no promise.” you shrugged. “Nari, if you’re done, then get your stuff and let’s go.” You promptly finished your cereal and went to go back upstairs. “You got ten minutes.”
“What’s her deal?” you could hear Nari ask, followed by an sudden whispering of your mom stating exactly what she thought was wrong with you. Your bet was on ‘everything’.
You walked back into your room, grabbing your purse from your desk. You eyed your taped up issue of BTS Universe #1. There was no way you were going to find another issue like that, and that damned dog just treated it like a loved toy. You grabbed your phone and shoved it into your purse. You went over to where the issue was and placed it on your desk.
“NARI LET’S GO!” you shut the bedroom door behind you as you walked out the room.
...
You sped to a stop outside the building. Nari was shaking in her shoes. She seemed hesitant to even open the door.
“Call me when you’re finished so I can pick you up.” you said, getting ready to unlock the doors.
“You’re leaving me!?” Nari looked like she was about to explode.
“Hello?! It’s idol trainees only?” you raised an eyebrow. “I can’t go in there with you. Nari what’s the problem?”
“...Um...I’m nervous alright! I’m giving up almost everything and if I don’t get chosen...I’ll just prove my dad right. I need this.” she stared down at her hands. “I’m not used to being a reject. I don’t know how you-”
“You wanna leave here with two working legs, I suggest you don’t finished that sentence.” you cut her off. “I’m not a reject.”
“That’s not what I was gonna say. I’m saying I don’t know how you deal with nerves like this.” she looked like she was gonna pass out.
“...You just do.” you nudged her shoulder. “You just go for it and hope. Go for it.”
“...Okay, I’ll try.” she opened the door. “...Thank you.” she stood up. “I’ll call you when I’m all set.” she shut the door.
“I’ll literally be at the store around the corner.” you replied before driving off. You watched in the rear view as she took her sweet time going into the building.
...(Later on)
You trudged behind Nari as she ran through the door. She seemed happy, so that must have meant the audition went well.
“I’m gonna take a nap.” you called to your mom and step-dad. “See you guys at dinner!”
You didn’t wait for them to reply before you closed the door. As you walked over to your bed, you noticed a disc laying on your bed. Just a random DVD. The closer you got, the font on the front got clearer.
“BTS World?” It didn’t look familiar in the slightest. “It’s called BTS Universe, Nice try Nari.” you wrote it off as a stupid prank by your oh-so-loving Step-Sister. It was only then you realized Nari was with you all day.
You took another look at it, gently taking it in your hands. It looked like it was glowing.
Call it curiosity, but you needed to know.
Your laptop was sitting at the edge of the bed, so you put the disc in.
“State your name.” a voice came out of nowhere.
“What?” you looked around in shock. The voice sounded like it came from right behind you.
“Please state your name.” the female robotic voice repeated.
“Y/N.”
“Are you sure that you want Y/N as your name?”
“Um Yes?” you raised an eyebrow. You still didn’t know what the fuck was going on.
“Would you like to start a new game? You don’t appear to have any saved filed under the name Y/N.”
Maybe you were sleepier than you thought, but you ran with it. “Yes.”
“Starting new game....now”
Your screen began glowing a bright blue, a vivid, saturated blue. It was like your screen had turned into a flashlight.
“What the fu-” you suddenly stared at your hands, the very tips of your fingers turned pixelated. “MOM!!!” You tried to scream, only to have it come out in the form on an echo. You felt your feet leave the ground as tiny little pixels moved towards your computer. You could see the color draining from your walls, leaving everything white. It was like an earthquake ran through your room...only through your room.
Then...everything went dark.
...
(Why hello there...LET US PREPARE. I’m gonna go through with it this time, I swear on my bacon! The guys are coming next chappie!)

Part 1 > Part 2 > Part 3 > Part 4 > Part 5a > Part 5b > Part 6
Seattle, January 2021
Gabriella Torres stepped out of her rideshare and studied the house she stood in front of. A small shingled house, hunter green, the grass browned from the cool weather and the paint of the white front door chipped from years of neglect. She knocked.
A woman with a black lacquered cane opened the door with widened eyes, pale, as if she had just seen a ghost.
“Hi, I’m looking for Calliope Torres-”
“She doesn’t live here.“
“My name is Gabriella Torres. Aria Torres is my mother—was—my mother.”
The woman sighed and eyed the young woman. “You're a spitting image of your mother. Come in.”
The sunroom of the house was clean, sterilized. It still smelled of cleaning products and polish; it was well tended to, unlike the exterior of the house.
“Can I get you a coffee or a tea?” the woman asked.
“Water, please, if you wouldn’t mind,” Gabriella answered. She took the glass the woman offered her and took a generous sip.
“What did you say your name was again?” the woman asked, taking the seat in front of her guest and leaning her cane against the side table.
“Gabriella.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-two.”
The woman paused in thought.
“I’m sorry to come out of the blue, but I thought you would prefer meeting in person rather than starting a paper trail…  Aunt Calliope.”
Calliope nodded in agreement and cleared her throat. “So how did you find me?”
“I just started grad school at the University of Washington, I’m doing my masters in library studies-”
“Impressive,” Callie nodded, glad and relieved to learn her niece was educated.
“Thank you. I was in foster care my whole life, you see, I knew nothing but my mother’s name. I swore to find her one day and I searched for her for years and years. Then, finally, I came across her obituary and I found out she lived in Miami… and, well, my research led me to you.”
“So you know who I am…” Callie cleared her throat and picked at the cotton of her pants.
“You’re Calliope Torres. You were the head of the Torres Crime family. You were responsible for the Miami Mob Massacre of 2013 when all of the heads of the city’s crime families were murdered.”
“Allegedly,” Callie corrected.
Gabriella nodded in agreement. “Early in 2014 the Feds gathered enough evidence to put you on trial-”
“Alex Karev and George O’Malley came forward and turned themselves in, in an attempt to put me away,” Callie informed. “Even after I paid them a very generous amount of money to leave town. It seemed that it wasn’t enough for two men who felt overpowered by a single woman.”
“You were on trial for 21 days,” Gabriella continued. “Until you were proven not guilty. After 21 days they were going to let you walk free, you were free—then you were showered with bullets on your way out of the Miami courthouse. A man named Robert Stark was arrested; he claimed you destroyed his life over unsettled debt.”
“And yet he’s still in jail and I am not,” Callie couldn’t help but smirk.
“My mother perished that day, and you were airlifted to Miami General with life-threatening injuries,” Gabriella added. “Some articles reported that you wouldn’t make it out alive, while others rumoured you would never fully recover. You were mentioned in the papers for months, until suddenly you weren’t. New leaders of the other crime families began to take their place, and new gang wars plagued Miami. By the time you walked out of the hospital a free woman, you were old news and the Torres empire had crumbled. You’ve been laying low ever since.”
Gabriella was nothing but correct in her explanation. The Torres empire crumbled, and it crumbled hard. In Callie’s absence, and Alex and George’s incarceration, other members of the corporation fought for themselves, fought amongst themselves, stole for themselves, until there was nothing left but a few skids of canned peaches scattered across the city. The Torres mansion was looted and then destroyed by opportunistic rival families. The Torres name became irrelevant. A name no longer feared. A name no longer remembered, despite the damage it did in the past decades. Bigger crimes flooded Miami, and though grudges still existed, seeking revenge against the Torres family was no longer a priority.
Callie remained silent. It had been years since she lived that life, it was hard to believe its vibrant contrast to the life she lived now.
“Sorry,” Gabriella brushed. “I was just searching for my mother, I didn’t mean to uncover so much more about you.”
“You’ve done nothing wrong,” Callie reassured. “That was my past, and I will take what I did to my grave.”
Gabriella remained silent.
“So what do you want to know about your mother?” Callie asked.
Gabriella released a sigh with both grief and relief. Grief of the loss she had held in her heart for so long, and relief that she was finally going to get some answers.
“I want to know why my mother left me at the hospital that day, knowing she had the means to raise me.”
“I can’t answer for the dead,” Callie shook her head.
“I know that, but you at least knew her…”
“And I know giving you up was probably the best decision she could have made for you.”
“What?” Gabriella asked with furrowed brows. She spent her life in poverty. She was alone. She moved from foster home to foster home. The closest thing she has to a family is an old college roommate.
“My sister Aria was… impulsive. Especially when it came to money. She and my father would always clash on her irresponsible spendings. I believe she had you the year she just about had it with our father and so she disappeared for a year to travel across the country in a van with some friends. She was in no state to raise a child, even if we had the money.”
“But I grew up poor, without a family-” Gabriella began to argue.
“Do you think a crime family would have been any better?”
“Maybe,” Gabriella shrugged.
“It cost us your mothers life,” Callie reminded. “It nearly cost me mine.”
Gabriella remained silent.
“A life of riches is far from a fairytale when it’s funded with bloodmoney.”
Gabriella avoided her aunt’s eyes.
“So if it’s money you want from me I no longer have much of it,” Callie admitted.
“I don’t need money,” Gabriella promised. “I just wanted answers.”
“I’m afraid I can’t answer anymore than that,” Callie replied. “I didn’t even know my sister had you until this morning.”
“Would you have stepped in if you knew back then?” Gabriella asked.
Callie paused in thought. “Probably not,” she answered honestly. She believed the mob was no place for a child.
They sat in silence for a moment. Then Callie glanced at the clock.
“Then I won’t take up much more of your time,” Gabriella promised and stood from her seat. “Thank you for your time.”
Callie simply nodded.
“Can I ask how you found out where I live?” Callie asked before the younger woman could leave.
Gabriella signed. “Seattle Grace held a Gala last week. I was sorting the newspaper section of the library when I saw your face. Your hair is much shorter now but I had studied the family so much I recognized you right away… it wasn’t hard after I ran a search for you in Seattle.”
“What newspaper published that article?” Callie needed to know: if her niece could recognize her, how many more people could.
“Seattle Local. Don’t worry, I’ve already shredded as many copies of the paper as I could find,” Gabriella reassured.
“Thank you,” Callie sighed in relief.
“Can I ask you one last question before I go?” Gabriella asked.
“You just did.”
“Do you think there are people out there who still want you dead?” Gabriella proceeded to ask.
“I know there is,” Callie nodded. “Dozens of them.”
“How do you bear it? How do you live in fear?”
“I don’t,” Callie answered confidently. “Knowing my life could end at any moment is what makes every day so worth living.”
000
There was one part of Gabriella’s story that was missing; one part of the Calliope Torres story that was very private and protected from the public eye. Down a long hallway, two feet and a cane dully tread across grey terrazzo floors. The door at the end of the hall held a plaque, yielded the Seattle Grace Hospital logo and the title Chief of Surgery. She opened the door.
Large windows letting in lights from the Seattle Skyline also enclosed the spacious and personalized office. The walls were decorated with various frames, some with photos, others with accomplishments and awards. One of which was the 2014 Carter Madison Grant and a photo of a small clinic in Mawali.
Arizona Robbins glanced up from her laptop and over reading glasses arched a single eyebrow.
“Sorry, I’m late,” Callie apologised.
Arizona smirked and motioned for her lover to come closer with finger.
Callie rounded the cherrywood desk and gave her wife a kiss.
“Hmm,” Arizona hummed with satisfaction.
“Missed you.” She said this every day.
“Missed you too,” Arizona replied with a smile. “How was your day?” she asked, pushing her chair back to make room for her wife.
“Well…” Callie leaned her cane against the desk and pushed the laptop back to sit on her wife’s desk, “I had a visitor at the house today.”
“A visitor?” Arizona repeated, intrigued. “We haven’t had a visitor in a very long time. Who was kind enough to send you a hitman this time?” she asked sarcastically.
“Not an assassin,” Callie informed with a small smirk. A very small part of her missed when an assassin or two would shake up their home. It had been so quiet the past few years since they moved to Seattle, Callie could almost say she was starting to get bored. She and Arizona had become so good at silently putting hitmen away; they made great fertiliser for the flowers in the back garden.
“Really?”
“Yeah, it turns out I have a niece. It looks like Aria forgot to mention she had a kid twenty-two years ago.”
“No way…”
“She looks just like her, Arizona, if she’s a con artist she sold it really well.”
“How’d she find you?”
“She saw a photo of me in a local paper, from the Gala.”
“Oh, Calliope… I didn’t know you’d be photographed.”
“It’s fine,” Callie shrugged. “I’m sort of glad she found me. It was nice talking about Aria again.”
“Are you going to keep in touch?”
“I didn’t want her to feel obligated to keep in contact. She’s a smart girl, she’ll come back if she wants to.”
Arizona gave her wife a sympathetic smile.
“Anyways, tell me about your day…” Callie encouraged her wife.
“I think I’d rather save the talking for later,” Arizona said with a smirk.
“Oh…” Callie chuckled and moaned when her wife pressed their lips together. Arizona’s hands were on her waist and they slowly made their way up her shirt as they kissed.
“You called for me, Doctor Robbins?” Callie teased, between kisses.
“I did, and you’re late,” Arizona played along. She loved her wife for a hundred million reasons, and one of them included how ungodly good she was at getting her off.
“I’m awfully sorry,” Callie apologised in her bedroom voice.
“Y-you’d better be,” Arizona gasped when her wife’s mouth wrapped around the skin on her neck and began to suck. “D-don’t leave a mark…” she scolded, “again.”
Callie smirked and slipped her hand into the white lab coat and down the navy blue scrub top. She cupped her wife’s breast; soft, warm, and a bit more plump than she remembered.
Arizona felt wetness begin to grow between her legs. Slick. Heat. Then a gush of fluid like the breaking of a damn.
“Callie!” Arizona shrieked.
“Arizona...” Callie gasped when she felt the wetness run down her leg, “was that?”
“I think my water just broke,” Arizona said with widened eyes.
“It’s a good thing we’re already at a hospital,” Callie chuckled and took her wife by the hand before leading her towards the maternity ward to have their baby.
Callie and Arizona rushed down the aisle, hand-in-hand, away from the altar where Elvis stood to officiate. With no family left between the two of them, they spent their wedding night celebrating their rather spontaneous wedding with a rather expensive bottle of wine and room service.
Overlooking the city of Las Vegas, a city also once ruled by crime families such as the Torres’s, Callie held Arizona in her arms as they watched the night lights.
“I never pictured myself getting married,” Arizona admitted softly.
“You’re telling me this now?” Callie arched her eyebrow, taking hold of Arizona’s hand that was now weighed down by a wedding band.
“No, Calliope, I mean… I never pictured myself getting married in the white dress and large crowd. But this… this was perfect.”
“Oh…” Callie smiled mischievously and planted a hot kiss on her wife’s neck.
“Callie!” Arizona squinted her eyes and stopped walking.
“Breathe…” Callie coached.
“I am breathing,” Arizona gritted through her teeth, freezing for a couple of minutes before gathering up the strength to walk again.
“We’re almost there,” Callie reassured.
Arizona puffed air out of her cheeks and followed her wife’s lead. Moments later, she found herself on a hospital bed, monitors attached to her belly and her wife by her side.
“Push,” Arizona encouraged.
Callie let out a long grunt as she pushed against the resistance band that Arizona was holding behind her. She took three bullets in her arm, two in the gut, and one in her femur which left her with a permanent limp. She had accepted her fate of the cane, but she had yet to give up on rehabilitating her dominant hand.
“Good,” the physiotherapist praised. “You’re really motivated today!”
“Motivated to use my good hand in bed again,” Callie pushed against the purple band again.
“Callie!” Arizona gasped, not impressed with her lover’s vulgarness in front of the physiotherapist.
The therapist couldn’t help but chuckle, “It’s good to have goals.”
“Let’s see how your baby is doing…” Doctor Carina DeLuca snapped on a clean glove and placed herself between the patient’s legs. “Oh…”
“What?” Callie and Arizona said in unison.
“When did you say your contractions began?” Carina  asked.
“I guess, this morning…” Arizona thought out loud.
“This morning?” Callie repeated with disbelief. Her wife had been in labour all day and she didn’t receive a single text of mention.
“I thought it was just a stomach ache from all the poundcake I ate for breakfast.” Arizona admitted.
“Did you eat the whole coffee cart too?” Callie teased.
“I only had three...” Arizona defended, “this time.”
“Move to Seattle with me,” Arizona said, her head nestled on her wife’s chest. Las Vegas streets were loud but she could still hear Callie’s pounding heartbeat.
“Seattle?”
“They’ve offered me a job as an attending… if I accept it, we can have our own life there. Just you and me, far away from the craziness in Miami. You don’t belong there anymore, we don’t belong there anymore. We both need a new start, somewhere we can raise a family.”
“You want kids?” Callie asked, surprised. With all the commotion, they forgot to talk about having children.
“I want a family, whatever that may look like. I’ve never had one and I want one with you.”
“You can start pushing on your next contraction,” Doctor DeLuca instructed.
“Callie, I’m scared,” Arizona told her wife.
“You’ve made it this far, Arizona, I believe in you.”
“What if we lose this baby too?”
“We can’t think like that right now, Arizona, you need to focus on having this baby, okay?”
Arizona nodded her head and grunted as she pushed as hard as she could.
The house was so quiet.
With Lucy’s passing, there was no longer pitter patter of paws against the hardwood as she played around the house. Now their house filled with the noise of Arizona turning the page of her newspaper, and Callie watching car review videos on her phone.
“You think it’s too soon to get another dog?” Arizona asked.
“I don’t know if I want another dog,” Callie admitted.
“Can I finally have my chicken coop, then?”
“No…” Callie slowly shook her head.
“Well, we’re certainly not getting a ferret, Calliope-”
“I’ve been thinking… it’s a good time to have a baby.”
Arizona’s face brightened into a smile. “A baby?” she breathed out.
Callie nodded, “A baby.”
“Your baby is almost here…” Carina announced.
“Really?” Arizona phanted.
“Do you want the mirror?”
“Oh god, no,” Arizona shook her head in denial.
Callie couldn’t help but laugh.
“Don’t you dare laugh,” Arizona scolded her wife. “You owe me a new vagina after this!”
“I’m sorry…” the doctor repeated herself. “Please stay and use the room for as long as you need to.”
“Thank you,” Arizona nodded at the doctor and continued to console her wife.
Callie watched the doctor leave with blank eyes. The news hurt her more than she thought it would. She didn’t even know she wanted kids until she married Arizona, and now that she found out she couldn’t, she was heartbroken. Her life of crime, the bullets of revenge, had already taken her sister from her; she was saddened to learn it also took away her chance of having children of her own.
“What do you need from me?” Arizona said softly.
“I don’t know,” Callie shook her head.
“I’ll have them, Calliope, I want to have them,” Arizona offered for the hundredth time.
“I…” Callie gulped to rid of the dryness in her throat, “I thought we could have some of yours and some of mine too.”
“Oh, Calliope…” Arizona sighed in defeat. “It would have been amazing to have a little you running around the house, but I promise you they will be our babies no matter what.”
“She’s here…” Carina announced.
“It’s a girl?” Callie asked with surprise, relief and excited butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
“It’s a girl,” Carina confirmed.
Callie and Arizona smiled at the crying infant. Carina placed the child on Arizona’s chest and Callie wrapped her arms around her family. She was so little yet so loud, and mighty. Her hands were bronze like a Torres and her eyes were blue like a Robbins. She was there and she was theirs.
“I love you…”
“What?” Callie said past dry lips. She thought she would never see Arizona Robbins again, let alone have her visit her hospital room every day for the past three months.
“I love you,” Arizona nodded her head. She had known, deep down, for a long time. But she was at the airport, ready to leave for Africa, ready to truly move on from her tango with the mob and start a new life, a new clinic, for children in a new land, Malawi, when she saw the Torres heir fall to the ground in front of the courthouse. She hated that she had to see Calliope Torres get shot multiple times on television to realise it. She loved the notorious boss and she couldn’t leave Miami without her.
“Arizona, you can’t-”
“You’re not my boss, Calliope, you can’t tell me what I can and can’t do anymore-”
“No, Arizona, you need someone... normal,” Callie defended her stance. “Someone who can give you the easy life you deserve. Someone who doesn’t have a past-”
“I know your past, Calliope, and I know the kind of woman you are deep down. Do you think it was easy to let someone else run my clinic in Africa, to turn down a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I can spend three months in this hospital with you? I know love isn’t easy, but I choose it because—because life without it is dull and cold.”
Callie eyed her lover.
“I know there are people who want you dead...” Arizona continued, “that danger will follow you, but—why live in fear when we can take our chances at being happy?”
“Jeez, okay, enough with the dramatics,” Callie teased.
Arizona gasped, offended, then laughed. Her speech was quite cheesy.
“I love you too. I’ve known for a while,” Callie admitted. “But I want what’s best for you. That’s why I let you go...”
“And I know what I want,” Arizona countered. “That’s why I came back...”
Callie cradled baby Sofia as Arizona finally fell asleep in her hospital bed. Sofia had that intoxicating new baby smell and Callie soaked in every minute of it. Swaddled in her hospital blanket, Sofia was content and happy to be in her mother’s arms.
Callie glanced at Arizona and watched her peacefully rest. She deserves it. Arizona let out a soft snore and it made Callie smile. Her mob career started in her father’s hospital room. Her love for Arizona blossomed in her hospital room. Now their middle family had grown by one in the hospital room.
Callie Torres was working in a cubicle, in an office, on a floor, in a building full of cubicles. She was the daughter of a notorious crime boss and she was in an office working a nine-to-five desk job. Despite her upbringing, she went to college. She attended Penn State, the first in her family to go to college. She told herself that she needed space from the mob, but deep down she knew she left home because she resented her father for not being a good husband to her mother. Over a decade later, she still blamed him for making Lucia Torres flee. So Callie moved away, to a city where nobody knew her name, and for four years she studied literature, made an honest living, and lived a modest lifestyle. She was set. She had financial independence from her father and no ties to the life he lived.
Until a single phone call changed her projection. She came back to Miami after years of avoiding the city and the chaos within it. Giovanni sent one of the drivers to pick her up at the airport and she felt helpless in the backseat of the Cadillac. She hated it: the feeling of being the young woman with no independence, thanks to the nature of the family business. There was a reason why she moved out: to be able to do things on her own.
The short car ride felt like hours, but soon she was at Miami General: pushing through a crowd of news reporters hoping to get information and FBI agents hoping to find dirt that will finally warrant the arrest of the biggest mob boss in the city. The FBI were always around—ever since Carlos himself was a child—but they could never find enough evidence to take the family court. Thus, they tried to get close whenever they could. It disgusted Callie. Her father was ill and all people cared about was exposing him.
She ran to his bedside the moment she squeezed past the door and took his hand into her own.
“Calliope…” he coughed up.
“I’m here, papa.” Callie soothed, combing what was left of his hair with her fingers.
“You came home,” Carlos smiled.
“Of course I did. You take it easy, okay?”
Carlos closed his eyes and nodded his head. He was weak, and he drifted off to sleep shortly.
“Miss Torres?” a soft knock came from the door. “I’m Dr. Teddy Altman, your father’s surgeon.”
Callie turned around and stood to politely shake the woman’s hand. “Call me Callie,” she insisted. “Can you tell me what happened? ”
“Callie…” Teddy sighed, “From the looks of things, your father has had heart failure for years.”
“He’s never mentioned it...” Callie insecurely crossed her arms, “Is he going to make it?”
“He’s responding to the ‘tropes, the medications we’re giving him, but that’s all I can say for now.”
“Is he going to make it?” Callie repeated.
“It’s hard to say…” Teddy trailed off, “But I can tell you that we’re doing everything we can.”
“Is he going to be treated just like everyone else?” Callie asked. She knew the doctor wasn’t oblivious to who she was taking care of. A high-profile man like Carlos Torres drew attention wherever he went.
“We provide treatment solely based on the patient’s clinical needs...” Teddy promised, “without moral discrimination.”
She stayed by her father’s side—only going home to get cleaned up and sleep. When she wasn’t tending to him, she was making sure his casinos were running smoothly. She became a frequent customer at the cafeteria, and even the girl at the coffee cart knew how she took her coffee. She didn’t know if it was love or guilt that made her stay by her father’s side. She felt guilty that she had deserted the family, all those years ago. And if she didn’t keep her head down that day, she would have ran into the blonde-haired blue-eyed surgical resident that stood in front of her while she waited for her coffee.
“How are the casinos?” Carlos asked one day, when he had the strength.
“Don’t worry about them,” Callie insisted, “I’ve made sure Alex and George stay on track; you just work on getting better.”
“You’re getting involved with our operations?”
“Yes, it’s fine, everything is fine.”
“You know, I always thought it would be you that I’d leave the casinos to…”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t cut-out to be a boss,” Callie hung her head in shame.
“Don’t say that, mija, I’m so proud of you,” Carlos admitted.
“You are?” Callie questioned softly.
“Always,” Carlos promised. “My smart, beautiful, girl.”
Callie wiped the tears that trickled down her cheeks and held onto her father’s hand.
Later that evening, Callie was leaving her father’s room to go home when she realized the watchman that usually guarded the door was not at his post. She grabbed her phone to call Giovanni and sighed in relief when he told her that he would fire the man for leaving his post and send over another member of his security team immediately.
In the meantime, Callie waited by her father. It was highly unlikely that any harm would come, but she still had an unsettling feeling in her gut—which amplified when she heard the door open, and she turned her head in time to see a grey-haired man.
“You must be his little girl,” he chuckled.
“What do you want?” Callie asked harshly.
“Well…” he shrugged his shoulders, his hands in his pockets. “I’m here to take him out. I don’t want to hurt anyone else, but now that you’re here... I don’t have much of a choice.”
Callie stood from her seat and took a step back. She was scared—initially— then anger sparked within her. Suddenly, she wanted to get him before he could get her or her father. She quickly weighed out her options. She was unarmed, and had been for years. She knew he had a gun, she could see the outline in his pants. She glanced around the room and in a matter of seconds she had a plan.
She grabbed the flower vase from the nightstand behind her and threw it across the room. Distraction. He lifted his hands to block the glass from hitting his face, and she rammed her right shoulder into his sternum, pinning him against the wall. Attack. The impact caused a couple of his ribs to break, and the noise of the vase shattering onto the floor caused the nurses to start peering into the window. He was able to strike her cheek with the gun, causing the skin to break, but she didn’t feel the pain. Her adrenaline was pumping through her veins and she wanted nothing more than to see him dead.
“Bitch,” he spat, trying to point the gun at her head, but bone-breaking strength pinned his body against the wall. The Torres heir was stronger than he thought.
Callie groaned and struck her elbow against his windpipe. Once. Twice. Three times. The sound of his cartilage breaking from impact. At this point, he was still alive, but the injury to his neck narrowed his trachea and he struggled to take the faintest breath of air. So Callie stepped back, letting him fall to the floor, and she kicked the gun out of his hand. She glanced back, her father was still asleep. She looked forward, the nurses had called security and they were waiting outside the door. She opened it, stepped outside, and a nurse walked to her side.
“You want me to look at that, Miss Torres?” the nurse asked.
“Look at what?” Callie mindlessly asked, still in shock from the events that took place moments ago.
“Your cheek is bleeding…”
Callie took a seat on a nearby chair, exhausted. She couldn’t believe it. She won her first fight.
“What should we do with him?” one of the security guards asked, wanting to be of assistance but also not wanting to get too involved with the mob.
“Leave him. Someone will be here to clean up shortly,” Callie sighed. It was only now that the blood from her cheek trickled down her neck that she realized she was bleeding. “I’m sorry for the noise…” she told the hospital staff, and the few patients that watched the scene unfold, “But nobody saw anything, right?”
All watching eyes turned away and went about minding their own business. Except the nurse who had offered to help, she had gone to get a dressing kit and returned to tend to Callie’s injury.
When Carlos Torres came to consciousness and learned of his daughter’s doings, that Callie was managing the casinos quite well and taking care of business in his absence, he knew what to do before his inevitable death. With her father’s ring on her finger, Callie Torres took her place behind the desk in the office she was forbidden to be in at her childhood home.
“I can’t believe she’s home…”
“I can’t believe she’s ours…”
Callie and Arizona cooed at the sleeping infant in the crib.
“We should go to bed and get some sleep while we can,” Arizona suggested. “She’ll be up wanting a feeding before we know it.”
“You go to sleep before she needs you. I’ll stay up a little longer, just in case she needs anything else...” Callie volunteered.
“We’re across the hall, Calliope, she’ll be okay on her own for an hour or two,” Arizona promised.
“I don’t mind,” Callie insisted.
“Come to bed with me, please?” Arizona pleaded.
“Arizona, I…”
“What is it, love?” Arizona asked, placing a soft hand on her wife’s arm.
“I think I’m scared…”
“She’s safe here,” Arizona promised.
“What if something bad were to happen to her, to us, to our family? I don’t want her out of my sight. I know you we’ve been safe here but you know my past-”
“I don’t think it has anything to do with your past, Calliope,” Arizona couldn’t help but smile. “That’s called being a mother. We’re going to worry about her for the next eighteen years, at least. We’ll have eighteen years to worry about her so please, can we go to bed for now?”
Callie sighed then nodded her head in agreement. Why live in fear when we can take a chance at being happy? She had chosen happiness these past few years, she took a vow to choose happiness with Arizona. Now she vowed this: if anyone laid a finger on her baby, she would hurt them before they could hurt Sofia.

Episode 2 dives into Yohan’s past and how he became the monster he is today. The episode also adds a surprising meeting at a charity function and a bomb explosion.
The Devil Judge episode 2; The Yellow Porsche
Dinner and family gossip
The episode begins as a continuation from the last scene of the pilot episode. The 3 judges gathered together and Judge Yohan invited his colleagues for a meal. Jinjoo seem unaware with the tension between Gaon and Yohan accepted the invitation. Gaon not saying anything, Yohan mentions that he didnt have to go but eventually accepted. Back in the office, Gaon asked Jinjoo is it ok for someone to yawn while crying. After that Jinjoo added new information, she said that Yohan is basically a rich guy an heir of their family and the dinner will be a gourmet. During dinner, they get to know Yohan personally moreso on Jinjoo though and Gaon keeps quiet. Yohan mentions during dinner that he hunts. Yohan mentions that he is similar to a animal with the way he eats. Gaon says that Yohan is a pampered prince since birth then a flash back of him at his home that says otherwise. Dont judge the book by it’s cover Gaon. His late father is a loan shark and father’s his father’s footsteps.
Since they’re talking about family, Yohan mentioned about Gaon’s family who was in neck-deep with debt. Gaon is pissed that Yohan has been looking at his records. Yohan added that Gaon’s father lost his money to a con artist which led to his father committing suicide. Yohan’s father was in a money lending business and tells Gaon that everytime his debtor killed themselves he goes to confess.
The Yellow Porsche
While Gaon was walking home on the opposite side of the road we see a man driver a yellow Porsche. He was driving quite fast and was about to meet someone. While the man was driving, he talking to someone on the phone discussing something about having something set. We see homeless people out on the street eating their meals beside a truck with the Social Responsibility Foundation signage. The man continues to drive and drives into them, blinking his lights and honking at them. Driving madly he has hit a homeless man and Gaon sees the incident across the street. The man steps out of his car and does a insincere apology to the homeless man.
The porsche guy shows up yet again and on the otherside a child at backseat with the mother driving. The 2 cars got into a accident and Gaon saw it. The porsche guy does the same thing like the first time and just leaves without taking care of the victim. Gaon mentioned that he’s seen the car before and the driver gets pissed with how he doesnt like it if people get in his way. Soohyun and Gaon tries to catch the culprit, we then see Yohan driving his luxury car trying to catch him as well. Yohan eventually stopped him and damaged his car. Yohan ended him by finding stash and giving out a public transportation card after. Soohyun is shocked to witness this scene of Judge Yohan acting like this in the flesh.
The yellow Porsche guy happens to be a CEO at a food company. He did taste testing with a dislike reaction. One of the staff said that they try their best to scout top head chefs despite the lawsuit threat. He’s been trying to get the exact recipe with spending his own money but couldnt copy despite having top chefs. He’s copying someone else’ recipe but the CEO/Chairman is never satisfied. The CEO is hiding pills on his desk and his reminded by the flashback scene of him and Yohan. Once the ceo guy leaves he meets Yohan again. Yohan reminds him about his public transportation card. Yohan compares him to a fresh bait.
President and Ministry of Justice
Both important figures were discussing the results of the 1st trial and how its a joke to have 235 years worth of imprisonment. She asked if it was a plan conducted by the President. Ms Cha pointed out Yohan’s fake crying while calling out the victim’s names but President defended Yohan and tells her it was difficult to shed a fake tear or try to act. They both also talked about how the President is leading a country who’s currently in danger. President realized something about her comment stating that the loss of Chairman Joo is a big deal for her, also adds how she was able to put countless Chairman’s behind bars. So why would she get so upset about Joo? Hmm. The President is beginning to become curious about their relationship and jokes that he used to be an actor with wild imagination. He also stated if the trial orchestrated by her but the foundation wont approve. Ms Seo didnt seem unhappy. Ms Cha then meets up with Mr Seo afterwards with Ms Jung not allowing her to enter. Ms Cha made a rude comment and eventually made her enter. Ms Cha is mad and asked why Mr Seo teamed up with Yohan behind her back. Mr Jeo says that having the public’s back may not be so bad which came to Ms Cha’s conclusion, President Heo convinced Yohan on his own. Ms Cha wont just watch as people turn their backs on her and she’ll definitely do something about it. Mr Seo then requested her to leave.
Ms Jung asked Ms Cha if the 1st trial was that bad, but the ruling party gave a 17%. Since the Ministry of Justice is the next in-line for the Presidential position, for sure many companies will be in-line to support her but why the fuss about Chairman Joo. She apologized once again for crossing the line since she’s just a mere secretary, hehe.
Gaon thinks otherwise
Gaon and Jingho talks about Yohan and how surprised Gaon was that Yohan didnt let Chairman Joo off the hook. Itll be harder to find the motive and think that there’s some deal behind it. Looks like everything went well with the trial but still they cant mess it up and Gaon will look further into it. He’s still bugged with the doctor and Yohan from the first trial. Jang Kiyoung who is a witness, Gaon asked Yohan if he trusts what he said. Gaon commented how weird it is for him to change their statement and Yohan said he must’ve have a guilty conscience. Gaon is still isnt convinced as it seemed that he had another intention. Citing an example on making the defendant deliberately look like he murdered the victim. He also added that Yohan looked happy to get along with him. He observantly noticed how different he acted then all of a sudden after that, Yohan became quiet. Flashback of the witness scene and Yohan commented howcome Gaon kept focusing on him and asked if what he’s doing is intentional. Because of the way Yohan said his words, Gaon thinks that’s the reason why the defendant changed his statement and admitted professional negligence.
Yohan answered acting like what the fuss was about because it turned out well. Yohan only cared about the trial turning out right but Gaon wants constitutionalism.  Gaon asked if there is another reason and Yohan said its like a unjust game. It looks like Gaon just wants justice for the victims (especially with his backstory) and Yohan gave him a reality check. Gaon stormed out with a recording on hand.
Soohyun starts investigating on Mr Jang Kiyoung the witness from the first trial. Then we see someone else spying on Soohyun and informing whoever he’s speaking to, eventually finding out to be Yohan. Yohan said that Gaon came to see him too. Yohan thinks to why there’s a courageous witness. Yohan also was able to find the spy device under his desk. Gaon is in trouble. She eventually calls Gaon and finds comments on online articles after searching about Mr Jang stating how Yohan is called the devil. The more they seem to be connected.
Charity Show
Gaon and Jinjoo were called at Yohan’s office, they were invited to be at the production’s and the Social Responsibility Foundation charity fashion show event. The charity will be donating millions of dollars. Another tense eye connection happens between Gaon and Yohan...Awkward... Gaon looks away and Yohan observed the reaction. Jinjoo also mentioned how the chairman of the board is famous as the nation’s advisor. Gaon being the textbook judge declined, he says that its wrong for a judge to be at a event like that while looking at Yohan. The head producer invited them because they want the public to receive a sense of hope. They arrived at the event and the host asks them a question each especially to Yohan. The host states that the public shows a strong trust with Yohan and is watching him closely. Yohan promises that he will fighting for Korea’s just society with his life on the line. Jinjoo gets introduced to Mr Seo who is acting like a disgusting prick by Ms Jung and she’s left alone with him. Yohan saves her on time.
Yohan and Ms Cha meets at the event and congratulates him despite the surprise. They both pose for the camera and Ms Cha asked if he plans to do that again.
Yohan and Ms Jung meets once again too. Ms Jung warns Yohan that the owner does not like twist and turns.
Ms Cha introduces her husband and eventually her son who is the same guy from the Porsche incident. Oops. Plot twist.
Ms Jung talks to Mr Seo and makes a observed statement. She says that Yohan is not tamed enough. You can never tame a monster.
Gaon visits a pastor
Gaon continues his investigation on Yohan starting from his past. He visits a church talking to a pastor who knew Yohan and says how different he is from others. The pastor notices how Yohan has a gloomy expression on his face and kept quiet most of the time. A flashback of a young Yohan smashed a bird on the head during class to stop it from flying around. The classmates started calling him names and a monster. They continue to treat him as a invisible classmate. The pastor calls him a devil but its nothing compared to what happens next. The classmates started treating him badly and yet they're the ones acting like a monster. An incident at school happened when the items of the upper class kids were missing and the blame was on them, Yohan was the cause of that incident. At that moment, Yohan eventually became like a devil.
After the event, Gaon went back to Yohan’s office to check on the spy device but eventually Yohan caught him. While they were talking Jisung hears a beeping sound only for Gaon to realize that its a bomb. The bomb exploded and Gaon saves the both of them.

The Freedom of Expression Ep 25 - Installation of statue kneeling in apology to comfort women statue.
K: Hi, this is Dir en grey's Kaoru starting this week's episode of The Freedom of Expression. Joe san, Tasai san, welcome. Well, this show..im sure the viewers will realise this, but this show has a super low budget.
J, T: Hahaha
J: You're admitting that? Finally?
T: You noticed slightly.
K: Um, we usually record three episodes at once, but for the first one, it takes ages to get the recording started.
T: Hahaha
K: Like, (*imitates trying to fix equipment*) 'Huhh?', 'Oh, come on!'
J: Thats right.
K: They can't get the setup sorted at all, and we three are always just sat here waiting.
J: Yeah, I mean, its getting there, but it does take a while.
K: I mean, look at this! There isn't even a mic stand! You have to place it directly on the desk, and its fallen over how many times since just then!?
J: Its a rare sight these days.
T: For sure.
K: Well, anyway, this kind of analogue is what we have..
J: Yes, yes...let's get on with it and put our hearts into it.
K: Yes, lets do it. Um, also, today..we're recoding this on August 2nd..
J: Yes, and..
K: Tomorrow! Well, really its only in about ten more hours. Well, its on here too...(*gestures to board set up on the desk featuring new single info*)...Dir en grey's new single "Ochita koto no aru sora" will be released.
J: Congratulations
K: Well, its a digital release...(*mic falls over*) ..Look!
J: Oh, that. That was quick!
T: Amazing, it happened like magic!
K: Hahaha
J: Its like it was trying to.
K: Its because I touched the desk. Anyway, the single will have been released. I'd like everyone to listen if they can.
J: But its the first digital release for Dir, right?
K: Yeah, the first digital only release.
J: Digital only, yeah...as a result of the effect of corona.
K: Well, when we first announced it, stores were trying to implement self-restraint and stuff, so people wouldn't be able to order copies in store, and we didn't know how long this would go on. There would be people who would have to go directly to the store to pick it up, so in order to get it to everyone who wanted to hear it, we thought we should release it digitally. So its only digital.
J: Is this like a message from the band that you are still gonna release material even in times like these?
K: Yeah, like, we could have waited until we were able to release it with packaging, like postponed it without announcing it, and just released it after everything had calmed down, but as a band, we thought that keeping active, and making new material will give is that link to the future. So we decided to release.
J: The message is just recieving the song, right? I think its really important that the band stays active, so thats the basic message, right? Of course we want everyone to have a good listen to the song.
T: It was cool.
K: Oh, did you listen already?
J: I've listened too.
K: Oh, thank you.
T: The B-side was also cool.
K: Thank you. Ok, well, for today's theme, can I ask you Joe?
J: Yes, well its this news, it appeared in the news at the end of July. In the north east of South Korea, in the province of Gangwon-do, there is a place called Pyeongchang. Its been reported that in the S.Korean Botanical Garden there, a statue seemingly imitating Prime minister Abe kneeling in apology in front of a comfort women statue, has been installed. So, this has become news. After this was reported, Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga said at a press conference on the 28th of July, 'We have not confirmed any actual connection', as well as, 'Its unforgivable in terms of diplomatic relations', and other such strong comments. On the other hand, the S.Korean foreign ministry made the general statement that, 'There is a need to consider international relations in terms of foreign leaders'. They do not support the installation of the statue, but did not outline any specific counter-measures against it. Appearing as a commentator on a TV talk show, lawyer Hideki Yashiro pointed out his opinion that as it gets publicity, being in the Botanical Gardens where the public are free to enter, the statue cannot be viewed in the same way as a private garden installation. He pointed out that failing to intervene when an action to damage diplomatic relations takes place in such a facility, is seen as if its the state's own view, and that the government refusing get involved due to the land being privately owned is unforgivable. Well, this really is 'Freedom of Expression'. The owner of the Garden used his own money to make the statue, but internationally it can been seen as quite offensive. This has become quite a talking point in Japan and online, and similarly, it also has in S.Korea too. Those who think that Japan should be made to apologize, and those who think this is bad timing and could end up worsening relations futher. Even in S.Korea people are split about it in this way. This is the news.
T: I see
J: This is a difficult issue, isn't it.
T: It is difficult.
J: In what way should we consider this issue? How do you see this news, Kaoru?
K: Hmm, its extraordinary isn't it?
T: Absolutely...but this place Pyeongchang, it was in the news during the Pyeongchang Olympics. There were those 'Bullet Men' statues put up all over, depicting the perfect male form. It became news, like, is this art? What is this? So, this is also in Pyeongchang, so I wondered whether its just Pyeongchang culture or something?
J: Saying like, Pyeongchang makes a lot of statues?
T: Yeah.???*1
J: I see. But the head of this garden created this with his own money, surely there isn't much of a sense of it being art. Persisting with creating this message and putting it in the botanical gardens, doesn't necessarily mean it was made by the state, and I think it would be quite difficult for them to order the removal of the statue. Saying 'You have to remove it', even though it was built with private money, would be quite difficult. But on the Japanese side, Suga san was saying in regards to diplomatic relations 'Why are they deliberately making our country's Abe kneel in submission like that? Well, Suga has said that if this is true, it would have a severe effect on Japanese/S. Korean relations. He's making quite strong comments about this, but I think this may be a performance on Suga's part to maintain support for the increasingly unpopular Abe administration, by criticising S.Korea. He's moving away from freedom of expression to try and maintain his own popularity. So when you ask 'what is the core of this problem?', as soon as it blows up like this online, it becomes difficult to tell. There was a similar occurrence at the Aichi Triennale, and it also blew up online then too. Before you could really get to the bottom of the question of freedom of expresion, it kept on blowning up into completely different issues.
T: Yeah.
J: First it was all about Tsuda Daisuke's blonde hair.... This type of thing came up at this kind of time again, and I somehow thought it would've been better if a proper debate had been able to take place. Well, because there various ways to feel about this.
T: But in the end, I think this will end up hurting S.Korea, cause I know there are various opinions about this, but if they really want Abe or Japan to apologize, if they do it in this way, it may cause a gap to open up between the two sides. I don't think they've thought about it that far.
J: I see.
T: Conversely, it won't end up with any national benefit to the S.Korean people. It seems like it might hold back progress.
K: Well, but..
Kami: Uh..Isn't this quite subtle?
J: Mm, whats your view, Kami?
Kami: In my view, well, Japan and S.Korea don't have a great relationship, do they?
J: Yeh, they don't. Relations are continuing to worsen.
Kami: Because state promises were not kept, thats natural. I agree, that promises should be kept, that goes without saying. But the kneeling statue is probably Abe, right?
T: Well, yeh.
Kami: I think Abe has a lot to apologize for to the Japanese people too.
T: I see
J: Ahh
Kami: But no-one gets angry about that. Breaking promises is sickening, but like, its probably Abe kneeling on the ground right? If this was the Emporor, the symbol of Japan, that would be really bad, wouldn't it? It would be making a fool of all Japanese.
T: I see
Kami: But its Abe, isn't it? Haha.
J: You're really coming down from above today aren't you, Kami?
K: He's really emphasising this, isn't he?
J: He is.
Kami: But all those lies about the Sakura Party, giving money to his friends, using tax money to do it...
T: I see, I see.
Kami: Doing that type of thing, really, he should apologize for it to the Japanese people, I think.
T: I see.
K: But I bet if Kami was invited to the Sakura Party, he would go.
J: He would.
K: He'd recieve money and stuff..he'd go.
Kami: Of course I'd go.
J, K, T: Hahaha
Kami: I'd do the V-sign and get a photo together.
J: Kami, you're trivial!
Kami: Yep, I'd soon be won over.
J: You change a lot, don't you, Kami?
Kami: I'm affable.
K: Affable? haha
J: Such positive thinking, right? haha.
Kami: I'd want to give off a favourable impression.
J: He has quite a way with words, being able to express that in an affable way.
T: Affable, haha.
J: They do say that these kind of fence-sitters are unprincipled. He said he was affable! Next time Im asked, I'll say Im affable.
*mic falls off desk*  Ahh, eventually!..The mic just naturally falling here. Essentially, I think he does have things to apologize for to his citizens. And Suga san at the press conference, for sure, there is the problem of how this case will affect international relations, but in regards to the anger of the citizens of this country, he should apologize for things that are slightly different. He should make time for it.
T: Well, there is that too.
J: I started to want to say that. Kami's anger is also quite right.
K: Oh yeh, as for our conversation, I just wanted to go back to what we spoke about previously, in our live broadcast before, we wanted people to ask things to Kami.
J: What was all that?
K: I think we talked about it.
J: What were the questions?
K: What were they?
J: Oh, is it this? *points to a section in his notes*
K: Ah, can I ask?
J: Questions for Kami.
Kami: I'll slip up if im put on the spot too much.
K: Oh, please slip up.
J: We want to see you slipping up.
Kami: Ahh.
K: Q) Kami, how can you become a god?
Kami: A god? Thats easy.
J: Do you have to study?
Kami: Use a voice changer.
J, K, T: Hehehe
J: How do you respond to that?
Kami: Yeh, of course the timing of your jokes is important.
K: We kinda already knew that.
J: Well, yeah. I feel bad that we couldn't get this point rolling more.
K: But the viewers probably found it interesting. They'll be wondering what a voice changer is...
Kami: No, they are not in the position of a god.
J: For sure, they may wonder about why a voice changer..But some people might be like, Ahh, I see.
K: Well, they'll probably be drawn into it. Like, 'I just have to change my voice?'
J: Yeh, yeh, yeh.
K: Ok, well I'd like to finish here for today. Please subscribe.
J: Please do.
K: Ah, also, please check out the new single. Thank you very much.
J: Please excuse us.
T: Thank you.
*1 Couldn't catch.
* Sakaura Party refers to a dubious annual Spring party Abe used to invite all his cronies to.
This is a touchy subject, so do please let me know if you think I've gotten anything wrong.

Love and War Act I - LDH
Tumblr media
theater kid! hyuck with some enemies to lovers realness
word count: 3.2k
warnings: a lot of swearing and a lot of hatred, possible nsfw in future chapters
notes: in part based on this post
part of a series: yes, this is part 1
in which you really, really, really can’t stand lee donghyuck
Act I, Scene I: An Introduction of the Situation
You’ve never hated a musical more.
In an effort to ‘generate student interest in the arts’, Neo Culture Tech’s very own Mr. Taeil Moon, head of the fine arts department at what can only be described as a STEM college preparatory school, had put word out that this year’s fall theater show would be an entirely student-produced musical. Whether it was to elevate NCT’s arts up to the level at which they’d have to get the same funding as the robotics team or whether it was to truly cultivate creativity, nobody was sure. Still, the play persisted. From the actual dialogue, to the songs and their composition, to the dances choreography, everything was to be a bona fide effort from students across the school, not just in the theater department. Before anyone could say anything, the band and orchestra students were forced to create and compose scores and songs while the choir kids had to write lyrics for their semester project. The dance team had to choreograph everything and the art students were told they’d be making the posters for the show.
All of this, of course, was to come after the actual play had been written by the students in the Theater IV: Theater Productions class.
If only you’d stayed in Theater III.
Regardless, every good story starts from the beginning. And at the start of this one, there was a group of 13 potential starring roles in the tragedy? Comedy? Romance? Of Mr. Moon’s Theater IV musical production.
The official Theater IV roster was - and is - as follows:
(Name) - (Nickname)
Julia Choi - (Lia)
Renjun Huang
Lucy Hwang - (Yeji)
Somi Jeon
Chaeryeong Lee
Donghyuck Lee - (Haechan)
Jeno Lee
Jaemin Na - (Nana)
Jisung Park
Joanne Shin - (Ryujin)
Hussey Shin - (Yuna)
Chenle Zhong
13 is a decent amount of people able to give input on a play - from characterization, to plot, to underlying themes, there’s a place for everyone. If all of you worked on it, it could’ve been done at the speed of light, with ample time for revision and practice. Playwrighting wouldn’t have been harrowing. In fact, the project seemed fun at the beginning, and it was something you were genuinely looking forward to. After all, you genuinely liked everyone in your class… or, at least, almost everyone. Still, with 11 other people besides you and him, you would have ample buffer for the brain damage you were sure he would inflict upon you simply due to proximity.
You forgot entirely about Murphy’s Law.
Jeno, Renjun, Somi, and Chaeryeong were the first to opt out of writing the play, gently reminding Mr. Moon that they were tech theater students, and would much rather design and build the set. It didn’t take long after that for Jaemin, Ryujin, Jisung, and Yeji to choose choreographing with their dance teammates over being playwrights. Yuna was quick to state that she’d rather make the posters in her art classes, and both Lia and Chenle decided that writing lyrics in choir would take up enough of their time as it was.
At the start there were 13.
You were happy, looking forward to talking about settings with Somi and comedic effect necessities with Jaemin. You weren’t only in theater to act - you were in the program in order to satisfy your need to create. Creating an entire play from nothing made you more eager than anything.
That is, until 13 dwindled down to 2 with alarming speed.
Act I, Scene II: The Devil Incarnate
“Her royal highness is finally here!” Donghyuck faux cheers as you walk into your English Literature class right before the bell rings. The smirk in his tone is not lost on you, though you do mentally revel in the fact that nobody laughs at his stupid declaration. His seat is to the right of yours, but that doesn’t keep him from angling away from the board just to prop his feet up onto your desk. You don’t grace him with a response, only rolling your eyes before shoving his sneaker-laden feet off your desk none too ceremoniously and dropping your backpack onto the floor beside you as you slide into your seat.
“What,” He starts, evidently hellbent on annoying you at 8 in the morning. You don’t turn to look at him, though you can distinctly see his shit-eating grin out of the corner of your right eye. Donghyuck leans towards you, his face coming far too close to you for your own comfort. You hope he’ll get the hint from your silence and leave you alone, but he continues speaking, much to your chagrin. “No snarky response from our resident ice queen today? Is your tongue frozen solid, princess?”
“Call me princess one more time, and you won’t even have a tongue left,” You threaten, still facing forward in your adamant refusal to look Donghyuck Lee in the eyes. He lets out a short laugh and leans back, finally properly settling into his own seat, pleased at his success at pissing you off. Before either of you can try to insult the other again, Mr. Suh rushes into the room, his Staff ID askew around his neck and his glasses sliding down his nose. The door flies shut behind him, and you straighten your back.
Class has officially started.
“You were only three minutes late today, Johnny,” Beomgyu calls from the back as your teacher is getting himself settled, and you turn to see your classmate holding up his watch, mirth in his eyes. “It’s a new personal record.”
As if cued, the rest of the class bursts into a round of applause, with Donghyuck whistling with his fingers beside you. Mr. Suh - better known simply as Johnny to his students, due to him being fresh out of his undergrad - can’t help but chuckle at your class’ antics, doing nothing but shaking his head and pushing his glasses up onto his face.
“Alright, before I get called down to the front office again, let me fill out attendance,” Johnny says eventually, finally sitting down at his computer. While he starts calling out everyone’s names you rifle around in your backpack, searching for your copy of The Taming of the Shrew, the book you’re all currently reading in class. Though it has some… questionable moments and themes, you can’t help but love it - you daresay it’s your favorite required reading book yet. Just as you find it, Johnny says your name.
“(Name),” He says, and you straighten yourself out, your copy of the Shakespearean play gripped firmly in your hand. “I’m h-”
“She’s here. Didn’t you feel the frost when you came in?” Donghyuck beats you to it, and you finally whirl around to glare at him, raising the hand holding the book up high as if you’re about to beat him with it.
“Donghyuck Lee, I fucking swear -”
“Alright, alright, alright,” Your teacher raises his voice, coming to stand between the two of your desks. “I’m going to ignore the swear word this time because Haechan’s being annoying -”
You lean back to meet Donghyuck’s eyes, sending him a smirk that directly contrasts his wince.
“- But you know better than to let your emotions get the best of you on things like this.” Johnny finishes, his words now aimed at you. You sigh, lowering your book to rest on your desk and slouching back into your chair.
“Now behave, you two, got it? Act like actual people for once.”
The snickers of your classmates behind you cause your face to go red, and your anger at Donghyuck flares up again alongside your urge to crawl into a hole and hibernate. Still, through a furrowed brow and clenched teeth, you nod your agreement.
“Yes, Johnny.” You say at the same time Donghyuck mutters a “Sorry, John.” Both of you slide down even further into your seats.
Neither of you say anything to each other for the rest of class, though you make sure to send scathing glances his way whenever your eyes seem to meet. To his merit, he manages to flip you off effortlessly every time Johnny turns towards the board. By the time class ends and you’re packing up, the two of you are seething silently, anger emanating off of your persons. Donghyuck jostles you on purpose on your way out of the room, but before you can give him a piece of your mind out of Johnny’s earshot, he’s halfway down the hallway on the way to his next class. Still, you train all your angry thoughts in his general direction, praying he’ll trip and fall flat on his face, or something.
Jeno, who’s just walked out of the classroom next to yours, makes his way to fall into step beside you as he always does. He follows your red hot gaze towards Donghyuck, who’s currently leaning against a locker and talking to Renjun.
“You shouldn’t let him bother you so much,” Jeno finally says, and you roll your eyes before looking up at your friend. “It gives you too much grief.”
“He shouldn’t be bothering me so much.” You counter, and a small smile crosses Jeno’s face as he shakes his head in both amusement and disbelief.
“I guess you aren’t wrong.” He acquiesces as he pulls open the door to the chemistry classroom, letting you walk in before him. The two of you share a lab table and you pull his stool out along with your own as you orient yourself.
“I still can’t believe you and him are friends,” You tell Jeno as he sits down beside you. “You’re so you and he’s so… him.”
“We have, like, 90% of our interests in common, (Name),” Jeno laughs, knocking your shoulder with him. “If the two of you stopped going at each others’ throats for even a moment, you might even learn to like each other.”
You can’t help the fake gagging noise you make at the suggestion, and your friend rolls his eyes at you, though not before laughing. As the rest of your classmates start filtering into the room, the two of you switch smoothly to another topic of conversation - “Can you believe Moon’s making us do all of the play stuff this year?” “I don’t know, Jeno, it seems kind of cool to me.” “I mean me too, but damn… imagine the hours I’ll be putting into set design this year.”-  all thoughts of the devil himself banished from your mind.
Act I, Scene III: Murphy’s Law
You’re almost at the door, deep in conversation with Hyunjin about a protest she’s planning when Mr. Jung calls your name, stopping you in your tracks.
“Yes?” You ask after motioning for Hyunjin to go on to lunch without you. You haven’t done anything wrong that you can think of - not recently, you note, remembering the time you really had almost set Jeno on fire - so you can’t help but be confused about why he needs to talk to you. Before you can ask, your teacher holds out a slip of paper for you to take.
“The note Jaemin delivered earlier is for you. He said it isn’t urgent, so I figured I’d send you during lunch instead of during class.”
You relax your shoulders almost instantly before taking the bright orange piece of cardstock from Mr. Jung’s grip. You head out of his room - though not before thanking him - and unfold the note immediately after walking into the hallway.
Please come see me at your convenience! - Moon :)
♕ ♕ ♕
You get to the black box room before Mr. Moon does, causing you to lament not buying your lunch before coming to meet him. As you wait, you pull out your book, determined to at least do something with your time at the moment. Katherine and Petruchio are in the midst of hurling insults at each other when the sound of footsteps startles you out of your book, and you lay it down beside you just in time for Donghyuck to walk in and drop his backpack onto the floor by the door, his eyes trained on the phone in his hand.
Wait.
Donghyuck?
“What the hell are you doing here?” Your tone is biting at best. He looks up from his screen in surprise, though his expression quickly morphs into one of clear disdain once he sees that it’s you who’s speaking.
“Got a message from Moonie. What the fuck are you doing here?”
You hold up your orange slip, only just noticing the identical one hanging between two of his fingers. His eyes dart down to his own again before back up at you, seemingly still waiting for a response.
“Same here.” You respond, and he sneers at you. Donghyuck looks like he’s about to say something - likely hurl an insult that’s completely unrelated to the situation - but, with spectacular timing, Mr. Moon walks in through the door, a large soda in one hand and a fast food bag in the other. Donghyuck finally sits down, his backpack still by the door.
Your theatre director places his food on the desk in the corner of the room before leaning against it, placing his hands against the edge of the table for balance. He surveys the two of you, both of you on different sides of the room, for a moment.
“I guess you’re wondering why I’ve called you here,” Moon finally says, his words directed at you both. You nod while Donghyuck says a quiet “Yep.”, neither of you looking at one another. Moon nods himself before pushing himself off of his desk, reaching over to grab ahold of his rolling chair.
“Come,” He looks at both of you, nodding towards the center of the room. “Bring your chairs in.”
You stare at your director for a moment before sighing, careful not to let Mr. Moon see you rolling your eyes. Reluctantly, you stand up, grabbing your chair and moving to sit in front of him. Donghyuck follows suit, managing to put as much distance as humanly possible between you while staying close enough that Mr. Moon won’t reprimand him.
“You both know how your Theatre IV class is meant to be the ones writing the musical itself, right?”
The two of you nod, and you can’t help but wonder what direction Moon might be going in. There’s thirteen people in your class - why is it just you two he’s called in?
“Out of everyone in the class, you two are the only ones that aren’t either tech theatre students or double dipping when it comes to fine arts.” Your director continues, his words coming out slower than usual. It almost feels as if he’s trying to force the two of you towards the conclusion rather than telling you what he means to himself. Still, you know your expression is one of confusion. Mr. Moon winces almost imperceptibly before sighing and leaning back, rolling back-and-forth ever so slightly with his chair.
“When it comes to this year’s musical, students can only work with one of the departments, because having anyone work on two parts of it would be way too much work,” He finally says, leaning towards you and Donghyuck again. Silence falls over you as you furrow your brow, trying to figure out what Mr. Moon might mean.
It hits both you and Donghyuck at the same time.
“There’s no way I’m working with just him -”
“Moonie, c’mon, do you really hate me this much -”
“Stop.” Moon says, his voice rising easily in volume. He puts both of his hands up in emphasis, and you realize you’ve leaned further forward than you’d realize. You settle back into your seat, though not without returning the scowl Donghyuck is sending you.
“If I didn’t think the two of you could do it together, I would’ve just written the damn thing myself,” Your director says, glancing sharply at both of you before continuing. “You’re my two best students - you both know this. I’ve seen you put your differences aside to act together on stage. This shouldn’t be any different than that.”
You stare at Mr. Moon for a long moment, weighing your options. You can say no, you know you can - though he’ll advise strongly against it, Moon will ultimately let you back out of the musical’s production if you ask - but your ego refuses to let you. That, and you’d been genuinely excited to work on it before, and you’d rather die than let Donghyuck, of all people, take something you care about from you. That, and you don’t trust him to write a good play worth performing. You’ll be damned if the fine arts department has to count on him in the end. Hell, you’ll write it by yourself if you have to.
“Fine,” You say, raising a hand up to rub your temples out. “But I’ll only play nice if he does, too.”
“You act like I’m the one who finds it difficult to interact normally with other people.” Donghyuck scoffs, and you shoot him a sharp glare. He returns it evenly for a beat too long before finally tearing his eyes away and hanging his head. You watch as he runs a hand through his hair and throws his head back, groaning loudly as he does so, almost as if it pains him to say his next words. When he finally looks forward at Moon again, he sighs before speaking.
“I’m in,” He declares, throwing you an unreadable look. “Let’s get this over with.”
Moon’s face lights up immediately, and, for a moment, you don’t regret what you’ve just agreed to.
“Brilliant!” He claps, standing up from his chair. “We can discuss it together as a group during our next class, but I’m glad we have this sorted out. Now,” He says, moving his chair back over to his desk before settling back down in it. “I have to eat lunch, and I’m guessing you both do too. Scram.”
You get up, placing your chair back from where you got it before gathering your things. Donghyuck avoids looking at you, and you return the courtesy. He gets to the door right before you do, stooping down to pick up his back. Both of you wave goodbye to your director before stepping out into the hallway.
“When should we meet to talk about the planning and shit?” You ask, keeping your tone as steady as possible, though you know your eyes tell your feelings. Donghyuck rolls his eyes outright.
“How about we figure that out in class? I’ve talked to you enough for the time being.”
You make a sound of disbelief, flipping him off as he turns to walk away from you.
“You’re a grade A dickwad!” You call, staring at his back.
“Whatever, you frigid bitch!” He yells back, not bothering to turn around and look at you.
You sigh once he’s out of sight, dropping your head into one of your hands.
This is going to be a lot harder than Mr. Moon thinks it’ll be.

Next Chapter : Chapter Guide
“Thanks for coming out to meet with me again,” Dr. Garaki smiles pleasantly at you as you take a seat across from him in his office. His chair was much taller than yours to make up for his short stature. The expensive microscope and box of blood samples from your previous visit were nowhere in sight. The only thing on top of the desk was a copy of the proposal you had emailed him a few days before. The doctor puts a hand on top of the papers. “I’d like to talk about this.” You nod your head, trying to read the man’s face to predict how the conversation might go. You had to be ready for anything.
“I’ve never read a proposal quite like this before,” Dr. Garaki taps a finger on top of the document. “You made a lot of bold assumptions.”
You keep a look of confidence on your face as you reply. He still hadn’t made any indication about how he felt about the wild hypotheses you’d written for him. He just had the same cheerful smile on his face. "What you showed me the last time I was here was several steps ahead of any of the current research I could find,” you explain calmly. “Without knowing what was in that mystery fluid you used, I had to fill in some blanks.”
The doctor stayed silent for a moment and you hoped that he wasn’t about to throw you out for ignoring basic scientific standards and stepping into the realm of mad science. Never in your wildest dreams did you think you’d ever submit such an absurd proposal, but Dr. Garaki seemed like an odd enough man to actually appreciate it.
“You believe I have access to samples of All For One’s DNA.” The doctor finally speaks.
“No,” you still manage to keep your voice level. “Well, I honestly don’t know. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about for a while. All For One is the only true example of a person possessing multiple quirks. Because of that, it stands to reason that his ability to give and receive quirks, and therefore his actual DNA, could be the key to creating Nomus.”
The doctor continues to stare you down. “And if I DID have access to All For One’s DNA, you think the next logical step…”
“…is to try and create a Nomu ourselves, yes.” You finish the sentence for him, praying that it would make the statement sound less insane if you were the one to say it. The doctor raises his eyebrows, the unreadable smile still on his face.
“I obviously made a lot of assumptions about how to accomplish that task too. Plus, it would definitely be unethical to do human trials,” you press on. “But besides the most recent attack in Kyushu, the Nomus themselves hardly seem human anyway. Perhaps the human component is small enough that simply using All For One’s quirk to splice human DNA samples together is enough. We would just need to create some sort of vessel to hold all that power”
“And the applications for such research?” The doctor continues to question you even though you must sound like you’re out of your mind by now.
“Limitless,” you declare. “If we can understand the way in which quirks mutate or combine over time, we can eliminate the weaknesses and drawbacks of certain quirks. Take the number one hero for example. Endeavor’s body clearly has a heat threshold. I noticed it in his fight with that high-end Nomu. He’d be unstoppable if he also had a quirk of heat-resistance or something. And the way things are going now, quirks are getting stronger and more complicated. The number of people born with quirks that cause damage to their body or affect their quality of life is increasing. We could solve that problem completely if we understood quirk inheritance on a microscopic level.”
“You sound like a true advocate of science,” the doctor nods. “Some people might question the morality of genetically modifying, enhancing, or manipulating quirks though.”
“I’m just saying what would be possible,” you shrug, “What people are able to legally do with that information would be up for debate when the time comes, but that’s nothing new in the field of science”
“True, true!” The doctor nods his head in agreement. “And like you mentioned, there are a lot of assumptions we need to address before actually going through with a proposal like this.” He slaps his hand on top of the document again before hopping out of his chair. “I’ve been thinking of how we can utilize YOUR quirk in my lab,” he beckons for you to get up and follow him. “I understand you can observe information about your surroundings in extreme detail.”
“Yeah,” you confirm the information while following him out of his office and through the halls of his hospital. He stops at what appears to be a supply closet and unlocks the door with a key he pulls from his pocket. You were surprised to see the small room contained a hidden elevator.
“This is for employees only,” the doctor explains once you’re both inside. He pushes the single unmarked button and the doors slide close. You assumed the elevator went down because when the doors opened back up, you were in a dimly lit basement laboratory. It was set up like most of the other labs you’d been in before, but there was just something a little creepier about it that you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
“Nobody else is down here?” You ask as you continue to look around.
“This is actually a secondary lab,” Dr. Garaki tells you. “My main lab is in a different location.” The strangeness of the situation continued to build, but you kept your feelings to yourself. There’d been something off about the doctor since the first time you’d met him, and now you were committed to figuring out what it was.
“I don’t mind using my quirk,” you tell him, “but the length of time I’m able to use it is pretty limited.”
“Limitations can be overcome,” the doctor chuckles before hurrying over to one of the work stations where a microscope was set up next to a giant monitor. “A lot of people don’t realize their quirks can work harder and longer with a certain type of fuel to keep them going.”
“What like Popeye and his spinach?” you joke.
“Exactly like that!” the doctor nods enthusiastically, his large glasses making his eyes look bigger than they actually are. “If we monitor your brain activity while you use your quirk, and take blood samples before and after, we could learn a lot. You should also try to use your quirk every day. Make a note if there’s a difference when you use your quirk in the morning or in the evening, or if anything changes depending on what you eat or the type of weather.” You can’t help but laugh.
“You actually want me to do that?” you ask.
“Just a suggestion,” he shrugs. “I would like to try a couple things today though, if you’re up to it.”
“Depends on the couple things, I guess,” you say hesitantly. He explained that he wanted you to use your quirk to watch videos on one of the computer monitors in one minute intervals. Each minute long session would be under a different condition and there would be a short test between each condition to record how much information you’d observed with your quirk. As your quirk only lasted about 5 minutes, he decided to do four tests in order to have the best results. The first test would be the control. The second test would be taken with noise canceling headphones in order to see if the number of visual details increased if sound was taken away. The third test would be taken while standing between two heaters to see if temperature made a difference. The fourth test would be taken while jogging on a treadmill to see if physical exertion effected the results. The doctor sat you in a chair in front of the monitor for the first test and pressed play. Next thing you knew you were being shaken awake by the doctor. You open your eyes and realize that you’re on the ground.
“Oh thank goodness! You’re awake!” The doctor sighs in relief. “You must’ve overexerted yourself. You had a dizzy spell and passed out after the last test.” You blink a few times and glance around the lab, trying to remember what happened, but of course you couldn’t. You’d just lost consciousness after using your quirk, so all the information you’d gathered had been wiped from your mind. You’d always been a bit apprehensive of the doctor, but now you were honestly feeling scared. Never in your life had something like this happened, so why would it happen now?
“Are you feeling better now?” the doctor asks, “Can you stand up?” You take a deep breath and nod your head. You felt perfectly fine aside from the memory loss which you were used to.
“Well, I guess I hit my limit for today,” you laugh even though you were still creeped out. “Was there at least any interesting results from the tests?”
“You observed a lot more than I imagined!” The doctor nods his head enthusiastically. “Although the amount of information you recalled from each test was about the same.”
“Would you mind if I look at the notes?” you ask as casually as you can. The doctor frowns.
“Unfortunately I didn’t take notes,” he tells you. “I used a timer to record how long it took you to describe everything you observed.”
“I see,” you say calmly before shrugging. “Oh well. Was there anything else you wanted to do with me today?”
“No, no!” The doctor waves his hands, “Of course not. You should get some rest. Are you going to be all right getting all the way home? Perhaps one of the doctors upstairs can take a look at you.”
“That’s okay,” you smile appreciatively. “I’m actually staying at a friend’s place in the city today. I can rest there and go home in the morning.” The doctor nods in understanding as you both head to the elevator and go back up to the main hospital. He walks you to the door and waves goodbye, promising to keep in touch so that you can make plans to meet again soon. As soon as you’re outside, you reach into your bag to get your phone only to find that it wasn’t in the pocket you normally kept it in. Where you just being paranoid now? You open up your messages and type one to Hawks that asked “Where are you?” Once he answers, you hail a taxi, not caring that a bus or train would be cheaper. You wanted to get to your boyfriend as fast as possible.

Damage | Jack Avery
Warnings? Angst? Idk this isn’t good I’m sorry
Requested? Yes! I hope you like it and if you want a part 2 pls let me know!
Summary: Jack and you have been best friends since kindergarten. You two grow up together and eventually you become the photographer for his band Why Don’t We. During your job, you and Jacks bandmate Daniel get together. After a long time of dating though, Daniel gets jealous when fans continue to ship you and Jack and Jack’s feelings can’t help but resurface.
Word Count: 2,308 (it’s a long one with a lot of exposition)
Part Two is here
Five Years Old
“Jack! Come downstairs for your playdate!” Jack comes barreling down the stairs, nearly ramming straight into his mom and she laughs lightly.
“Momma who's coming over?” He asks and she squats down to talk to him.
“Momma's best friend has a daughter your age and we think you guys will be best friends.'' Just as she finishes talking, the doorbell rings and Jack goes running again. His mom takes off after him to catch up just as he's opening the door.
"Hi Jack! Did you get taIIer?" (y/n)'s mom greets Jack warmly and he smiles.
Jack's mom greets (y/n)'s mom and the two get caught up just long enough for Jack to stare curiously at the other girl. Before the two can get too antsy and run off, (y/n)’s mom introduces (y/n).
“Jack, this is (y/n), (y/n), this is Jack,” The two wave shyly at each other and the two moms smile fondly at the sight.
“Why don’t you two go play outside while we catch up?”
Jack turns around and speeds off, (y/n) close in tow. He swings open the backdoor and straight for the giant play set in the back. The two run around, playing a sort of chase, up and down the slide, before getting tired and settling on the swings.
“What’s your favorite color?” Jack asks.
“Pink!” (y/n) exclaims. “What about you?”
“Green.”
The two go back and forth like this and by the end, they’ve decided they’re best friends. When (y/n)’s mom comes to get her a few hours later, she protests, insisting she never wants to leave. The two hug tightly and part with the promise that you'll be over again soon.
12 Years Old
"(y/n)! Jack is here!" (y/n)'s mom yells up the stairs.
Before she can respond, her childhood best friend comes barging into the room. He plops onto her bed, instantly relaxing and she turns from her spot at her desk to look at him.
"What's up?" She asks.
"How am I supposed to ask Anna to the dance?"  He sighs dramatically and she smiles. She  stands up and lays down next to Jack.
"Just ask her. She obviously likes you." She responds and he rolls his eyes.
The first school dance of the year was this friday and Jack had been freaking out about asking his crush to go with him for weeks. (y/n) had been trying to convince him forever but he insisted she was going to say no.
"What if she says no?"
"Then you're sad for a bit and then you get up and party at the dance with me." That cracks a smile and the two are back to their normal activities.
16 Years Old
“What do you think we'll be doing ten years from now?” (y/n) asks Jack as she rolls over on his bed to face him.
“I'll be a famous singer and you'll be a photographer. We'll travel the world together and live out our best lives.” She smiles, and Jack turns back around to continue working on his new song.
As he works, she takes a few Polaroids of him and judges which ones to keep, add to her portfolio and which ones to give to Jack. Just as she sits back down, Jack's mom comes in and knocks on the door.
“Dinners ready! (y/n) are you staying the night?” She asks and (y/n) looks over at Jack who nods and she copies the action.
“Sounds good,” His mom says before disappearing again.
Ever since Jack and (y/n) hit middle school years, they ended up sleeping over at each others houses. Their moms decided that they trusted the other enough for sleepovers, and soon they became a regularity.
"We'll always be friends right?" (y/n) asks once the two are settled for bed after dinner.
"Always." He smiles and it goes straight to her heart.
Present Day
"What do you guys have going on today?" (y/n) asks as the boys gather in the living room to leave.
"Meetings, interviews, more meetings." Daniel says while sitting down next to you and pecking your cheek. "You?"
"A photoshoot and that's it.'' She tells him and he nods.
"Have fun my love." He says kissing her and standing up again. Jack comes up and kisses the top of (y/n)'s head and tells her to have a good day before leaving with the rest of the guys.
3 years ago (y/n)'s best friend had joined a band and ever since they've taken off. Millions of followers, several eps, an album, and another tour coming up here you were. Her best friend had traveled the world and she fell in love with his band mate. Life seemed perfect.
Ever since Jack had taken off in his career (y/n) hasn't been far behind. At the beginning of the band's career she had taken all of their photos. Overtime other artists and influencers have reached out to her and asked her to take photos for their own profiles. She had begun to take off with Jack by her side.
That was also how she met Daniel. (y/n) first started staying with the band shortly after they all moved to LA and she picked up a few photography jobs. Daniel and her hit it off right away and three years later they were here. Taking on the world by storm.
The boys seemed to have never ending meeting that was starting to take a toll. Zach looked like he was going fall asleep, Daniel wouldn't stop tapping his pen on the table, Jonah was doodling, Corbyn was on his phone like he was still in high school, and Jack was daydreaming. They were usually better than this in meetings, but it felt like they had been going in circles for days.
"Last two things," The execs say and an audible sigh can be heard around the room. "Your opener and your photographer. Who do you want?"
"Wait, we can bring a photographer with us?" Daniel perks up and Jack does the  same.
"Whoever you want."
The boys come home that day more excited than ever. (y/n) had just gotten home from her shoot and was flipping through the photos she had taken when they came practically crashing through the front door. The loud noise causes her to jump, and she spins around to see them bounding through the door.
“(y/n)!!” Jack and Daniel both yell at the same time and she sits up quickly.
“What’s up?” She asks confused as to what the big commotion has been about.
“You free for the next few months?” Jack asks.
Once the boys settle enough to explain that they would pay (y/n) to tour with them and take their pictures she practically has the same reaction as they did. She had been wanting to do a tour with an artist for as long as she could remember and now to have this opportunity especially with her best friends was a dream come true.
We work out the details and (y/n) leaves the house practically screaming inside and out. This was everything to her and she couldn’t believe this was actually going to happen. She was also so excited to travel with her best friends and essentially make great memories for months.
Two Months Later
“Do you have your laptop?” (y/n)’s mom asks, frantically turning around to look around her near empty apartment.
“In my backpack,” She tells her.
“Your chargers? Enough film? Your SD cards? Did you pack enough socks?” She asks and (y/n) sighs.
“Ma,” She says and her mom smiles. “I got it.”
“Okay baby I love you,” She says and (y/n) hugs her mom tight and promises to call as much as possible. Just as they let go, (y/n) hears the shrill beep from the boys car and grabs her bags.
She heads down to the car, where Daniel and Jack meet her. They grab her bags and put them into the trunk before climbing back into the car and diving head first into a summer they would never forget.
“Are you serious?” She asks.
“Dead. Come on!” Corbyn begs (y/n) and she rolls her eyes but holds her camera up regardless.
Her and the boys were stuck in the airport for at least another half an hour and came up with the brilliant idea to snap some photos while they waited for the plane. Corbyn grips his favorite pillow in his arms, offering a pleading look towards (y/n) as he insists it’ll be a perfect photo for his instagram. She relents finally, and kneels down, getting the perfect angle and snaps shot after shot.
“Flight 247 to Las Vegas now boarding,” The overhead speaker announces and Corbyn and (y/n) spring up.
Corbyn grabs his stuff and she follows, running over to where she left hers to find it gone. Her heart drops for a second before she hears a whistle. She snaps her head to the side, seeing Jack raising her backpack in his hand and she smiles gratefully before running over with Corbyn just behind her.
“Gonna need this to start the best summer ever,” Jack says, handing the backpack over with a wink and (y/n) sighs.
When we land in Las Vegas, we head to the hotel first, dropping off our suitcases and getting everything settled. While (y/n) would get her own room, the rest of the boys had to share one way or another. But they were always on the same floor and ran around to hang out with each other in one room.
“(y/n)! My beautiful!” Daniel yells walking into your room. “Wanna explore?”
“Would love to.”
Daniel and (y/n) head out together with a quick message to the groupchat where they would be. They decide to catch an Uber to the venue and dinner somewhere close considering they haven’t eaten since before they had taken off in Los angeles.
Just as they get to the venue, Daniel takes her hand, carefully intertwining their fingers and leads her around the place. She can’t help it, and takes out her phone and snaps a couple of photos as Daniel walks in front of her and when he hears the familiar click of a camera, he turns around.
“Oh come on,” Daniel jokes and (y/n) smiles sheepishly.
“I can’t help it! You look great and the lighting is unique.”
She gestures for Daniel to move and she plops down, snapping a few photos. When Daniel has had enough, he moves towards the girl and pretends to come at her like he’s gonna tackle her. She falls back and Daniel ends up hovering over her, a wide smile plastered across his perfect features.
He leans down, placing a light kiss on her lips and (y/n) reciprocates by leaning up to deepen it. Just as she goes to reach her arms around Daniels neck, someone clears their throat. The two separate and Daniel rolls over to sit down next to her.
“Am I interrupting?” Jack asks walking over.
“A little,” Daniel says and (y/n) rolls her eyes. She raises a hand and Jack helps her up.
“What were you guys doing?” He asks once she’s standing.
“Oh I was just taking some photos of Daniel,” (y/n) explains gesturing to the scene around her and Jack nods. Over the years he had gotten used to spontaneous photoshoots and could practically spot a perfect picture spot as well as she could.
“By the way, the fans are obsessed with our photos on instagram,” Jack mentions and Daniel tilts his head to the side. By now he’s moved so he has an arm around (y/n)’s waist and is staring curiously at the younger boy.
“Corbyn wanted to use my camera so I let him take a few photos of me and Jack,” (y/n) explains looking at Daniel. “How bad are the comments though?”
“Well,”
For the past three months, every time Jack and (y/n) posted a picture together on either one's social media the fans went nuts. They “shipped” Jack and (y/n) like crazy and blatantly ignored (y/n)’s current relationship with Daniel. Some fans really just had no boundaries and Daniel was honestly getting tired, (y/n) was hoping to do damage control, and Jack was hoping his secret crush of 13 years wouldn’t get out.
“Come on man, did you really have to post the photos? You know how bad the fans have been,” Daniel complains and you turn in his arms.
“Woah, it’s not Jack’s fault they have no boundaries,” (y/n) says defending her best friend.
“And you can’t tell me what I can and can’t post,” Jack snaps back.
“Jack chill,” (y/n) says fully stepping out of Daniels arms to get in between the two boys.
“What’s your damage?” Daniel asks and Jack takes a step forward causing you to take one back.
“I think you know exactly what my damage is. Don’t act like you didn’t ask for this.”
“You had your chance man. Don’t act all high and mighty now,” Daniel says and Jack rolls his eyes.
“You’re one to talk,” He declares and pushes past Daniel and storms off. (y/n) stares at where Jack walks off for a second, shocked at the random argument that occured before turning towards her boyfriend.
“What the hell was that?” She asks.
“Something you don’t want to get into,” He responds before walking away.
(y/n) stands there for a moment, unsure of what to do or even who to choose. What was that argument even about?

1826 Wednesday 18 January
7 11
Went into the stable went out at 8 40/60 - walked to yewtrees wood - found that in spite of our notice 3 carts, Gill's Luke Aspinall's and Wid[?] Holland's had been leading rubble along the road since Saturday - I saw Gill's cart leading this morning - Walked direct to H-x [Halifax] to speak to Mr. Parker - he and I went to Mr. James Briggs - our notice to discharge them from using the road till reasonable compensation was made for the same, - good for nothing because it was not stated that we should summon them before 2 magistrates in 10 days from the date of it - they were not trespassers - we could not stop them from leading we could have damages adjudged and then distrain upon the clerk to the trustees of the Brighouse road for payment - Mr. Parker to write another notice -
Went to Northgate - had breakfast there at 12 - ate a very hearty one - Mr. Parker called and brought me the notice and a copy of it - staid at at Northgate till near 1 - walked quickly home - 1/2 hour talking to my uncle and aunt - sent off George with the notices to Mr. Washington to be served this afternoon
Came upstairs at 1 3/4 - found a letter on my desk from M- [Mariana] (Lawton) 3 pages and the ends - continuing her observations on my letter to her mother (she wishes me to omit the 2 principal passages) and a copy of what I wrote M- [Mariana] 25 July 1824, on the subject of what I then said to Mrs. B- [Belcombe] about this settlement business - first thought of writing another letter but short - then made up my mind to leave out what M- [Mariana] wished, and make another little alteration or 2, leaving out the professions of regard for M- [Mariana] and wrote M- [Mariana] 3 pages and the ends, and crossed half the first page stating what these alterations were - somehow not quite pleased with this letter - said I have given M- [Mariana] pain - was heartily sorry - thought the subject had best be laid aside even between ourselves - I would not name it to her again - 'Do as you like - 'tis right - I shall be satisfied' - bade her do as she liked about the fifty pounds meaning she might them to her mother if she liked -
Felt very bilious - could scarce see to write - drank a couple glasses of cold water which did me good - Dressed - Dinner at 6 50/60 - Did nothing afterwards - Frosty early in the morning - began to thaugh about or between 10 and 11 - a little hazy rain - but it held off in the afternoon - a regular gentle, ground thaugh - the little thin covering of snow opposite and about the house gone by 4 p.m. Barometer 1 3/4 degree above changeable Fahrenheit 35 1/2° at 9 1/4 p.m. at which hour came up to bed then wrote all the above of today which took me till 9 40/60 - the frost began on the 30th ultimate and has continued most severe till now the 19th day - read from page 19 to 34 no. [number] 27 Edinburgh Philosophical Journal - E..O. -
