7 Ways to Introduce the Villain.
Tumblr media
1. The Shadow
A lot of series go with the classic 'ominous shadowy figure in the background.' Here's Silco in Arcane. Sinister voice, sinister dude, sinister intent. Boom, you have your villain.
Tumblr media
2. The Slow Reveal
Other variations of the 'shadowy figure' in which the series draws out the reveal of the villain. Avatar: The Last Airbender doesn't reveal the Firelord until the final season, but his presence is felt throughout the series. He's always this looming threat whose will is carried out by his underlings. (General Zhao, Azula, etc.)
Tumblr media
3. The Fabulous Entrance!
Okay, so we do hear Ragyo on the phone a couple times before they actually show her face, but goddamn, this entrance. It is impressive and terrifying and, it perfectly suits the utter psycho that she is.
There is no normal expression this woman makes when she's 'happy.' She's always smug or angry or annoyed, but this face with her staring, manic eyes and smile still haunts me. Send help.
Tumblr media
4. The Sudden Entrance
Shigaraki kinda comes out of nowhere in My Hero Academia. For the first few episodes, its all lighthearted and fun and dealing with Bakugo's BS and then the class heads off on a field trip and suddenly,
"Oh, shit! Plot is happening!"
This series started off with kids learning to be heroes, and now its tragedy and social upheaval and people's lives are in danger.
Tumblr media
5. The Incognito Entrance
This is when some random nonthreatening dude/lady just kinda sidles into the plot the be the butt of a joke and later turns out to have been one of the villains.
This scene was so weird. Tyki is just minding his own business, scamming people at cards. Then Allen and Lavi show up looking for their friend (the guy currently being scammed), and even though he recognizes them as exorcists and his enemies, Tyki has to sit there and play it off like he doesn't know jack cause if he does anything, he's gonna blow his cover in front of his human buddies. And then he suffers the indignation of being stripped in a poker game in broad daylight because the main protagonist is absolutely evil with a card deck. And then he just walks away from this like it's a totally normal thing, not even really taking vengeance for it. (He went after Allen, sure, but that was more of a job than any personal vendetta.) He's not the main villain, but I couldn't resist pointing out how bizarre this is.
For those who haven't seen D. Gray Man, the guy in the center is one of the main antagonists, and though this is technically the second time you see him, the first encounter was so short it was practically a cameo and he was a Victorian-era, Dorian Gray dandy gentleman, not this hobo riding a train.
Tumblr media
6. The Traitor
Since the Undertaker was more of a neutral party in Black Butler, I don't think he really counts as a traitor. Still, I don't think too many of us were suspecting the morbid jokester Grim Reaper was going to turn out to be a major antagonist later on.
Tumblr media
7. The Protagonist
And sometimes the protagonist is the villain!

Could you possibly write a yandere villain x soft reader fic or headcanons?
Yandere!Villain x Soft!Reader
Omg!! my first request!!! Yes! I absolutely love soft reader so much!!
The Villain loses every time. He loses everything to the Hero of the story. Over and over again. He comes up with very elaborate schemes and evil plans that cannot fail, then the Hero foils his plans. He gets angry. 'How does the Hero do it?' he thinks to himself. The only thing keeping him from winning is the Hero in the end.
Obsessing over and over at what else would work. He goes into civilian life. That's when he finds you. A soft, quiet being who is handing out flyers from your workplace. The Villain doesn't notice you at first. He bumps into you, spilling your flyers everywhere. When the two of you lock eyes, it's like sparks go off in his evil little mind.
If the Hero always gets the girl, why can't the Villain get the girl too? The next time there's a high-stakes robbery, you are in his line of sight. He bolts towards you, shielding you from any damage. He's never sought to protect someone before. He's glad that person is you.
Whether you're oblivious or not, you notice things in Villain's behavior that might seem quite odd, but you grow to love those things about him. He complains a lot about the city, and he wants to improve himself. However, his set role as the Villain has him stuck in his ways.
But, he sees you as an exception. He's head over heels for your kind nature. It almost rubs off on him when you notice how kind he was being to a random stranger. His villainous ways were almost eradicated.
Until Hero got involved. The Hero didn't seem to approve of this sudden relationship. The Villain's tendencies started to creep through. He started plotting more ways to get rid of Hero for good. You became concerned for Villain's mental health. He had spent weeks planning a way to kill the Hero of the city. He had never gone that far in the past, but you were special to him. He needed to keep you safe, even if it meant getting rid of the savior of the story.

Not supposed to be here
Caution: implied death mentions
Villain, hovering above the sky, screams of agony and chaos can be heard echoing from the crumbling building, watching their work proudly come into place.
They then saw something caught their eye on a building window, someone inside the building with a bright color outfit rushing room to room with speed looking for something, wait could that be...
Hero, Hero came to save the day from the building that is about to fall, No.. it can be, why are they here? It's supposed to be Superhero who should show up- but why does it have to be them?
Hero, looking for any civilian who needed help, decided to go on the roof building, hoping that they could find someone to save, instead they meet someone else, someone who is responsible for this chaos.
Villain, with a hover board goes down to hero's level, Hero then immediately went on a defense stance
"Villain, if you're here for a fight I don't have time for it"
"You shouldn't be here Hero, I expected someone else to show up and that person is not you."
Hero is about to argue when they hear cries somewhere down the (n)th floor, Hero immediately takes action to go down but then Villain steps in and blocking Hero's path, Hero tries to go sideways but Villain persists on blocking their way.
"Villain, get out of my way"
"Hero, enough of your heroic act and back away now."
"Are you seriously asking me to stand by and do nothing?"
"I meant that this place is going down, no use of saving anyone in there"
"Someone could be trapped there between the floors, begging for help."
Hero is about to take action but then villain clamped on Hero's both shoulders, forcing them to face villain.
"I'm serious Hero, you're risking your life, this building will soon fall if you don't back down!"
"You're the one who caused this disaster so why do you care?" Hero glares at them
"Because it's not meant for you and yet you came anyway."
"I don't give a crap about who you're waiting for! I need to save someone in there!"
Hero slapped villains both hands away, they use their super strength to punch the roof floor beneath them and falls down to a lower level to find someone.
"Hero! Urgh-- you can't keep doing this!"
Villain hovers down to follow Hero somewhere in the building, while Hero is running to look for someone, an explosion suddenly blasted on the outside wall, revealing Villain themselves
"Villain! Stop following me and get out of here!"
"No, I will not stop till you get out, please leave, it's for your own safety!
"You care way too much for your enemy, for someone like you responsible for this.. is this a way of regretting your actions?"
"Because it is not meant for you! I don't understand why you're risking your life for these pathetic civilians who don't even care about you."
"Well i care!"
Suddenly something interrupted them, a loud explosion coming from below, the floor starts to shake making Hero crouch to avoid swaying a little, the floor breaks and the building crumbles along the Hero inside, the Villain panics and flees away from the building but then thinks again and went back to save Hero but the building is already collapsing making hero stuck somewhere inside.
"Hero! HERO!"
Villain is desperate to save them but then ashes and debris scatters and flying, making it harder to come close to hero.
A few minutes after the fall of the building, smoke and dust surrounds everywhere, ambulance and firetrucks are in the scene, Villain hid somewhere on the smokes so no one can see them, Villain tries their best to look for Hero, calling out their name, hoping that they'll hear their screams or pleas, they're probably unconscious and couldn't hear them so Villain kept searching, not knowing that somewhere beneath the debris, an exposed arm, large crimson pools on its surroundings, unmoving.

My favourite genre of villain is the type that causes mass destruction and murders indiscriminately without remorse but if they misgender someone they’d drop everything to buy a custom made cake with an apology speech written on top

Okay, but that moment when a very poised, calm, in-control villain snaps for a minute and starts yelling, which causes their perfectly-combed hair to shake loose over their forehead as their face turns red with fury, only to a moment later take a deep breath and visibly calm themselves, smoothing their hair back into place with a little comment, “Oh dear, how dreadfully uncivilized of me.”
Very good moments, 10/10, A+!

do you ever think about that villain trope of them sitting in a chair stroking a cat and wonder if maybe the cat is their emotional support animal and they're actually deeply anxious about the villainous monologue they're about to give (or possibly also, they weren't planning on giving the monologue sitting but the cat came and sat there and now they're stuck there)

PROMPT #005
tw: kidnapping
"All these prophecies told us that we should fight each other to death." Hero gleans over the stack of papers spread at the table before her. She unfolded a manuscript, fingers tracing the lines of scripture written in an ancient tongue. "And this one specifically says that I can only win with the power of courage, love and unyielding faith. Seriously?"
Villain leans over the window, arms folding as her eyes are completely fixated on the Hero. "You're aware that you're intruding in my study and currently being held as a captive with no hope of escaping, aren't you?"
"Yes, but none of this made sense!" She puts away the manuscript abruptly. "Couldn't they be any vaguer? The power of love is such an overused trope!"
"I suppose the people back then had a strong adoration for being poetic." Villain sighed and smiled. A cryptic one that may leave some wondering about the hidden intentions beneath it. "Now, I'm not sure what 'winning' means to you, but to me, it means peace and quiet."
An idea sparks up Hero and she jolted, "Getting rid of me could ensure that peace and quiet!"
"Darling, you're part of the problem." She moved slightly, moving away from the window and to Hero. The height differences between them became more apparent as she bends down. "But you're also part of the solution."
"And how is that possible?" Hero quirked a brow.
"You see, my retirement plan includes you." Villain began, "I don't believe we've had the chance to discuss this but I plan to take you to my realm. See if it'll make a difference to the cycle entrusted to us. I'm very much hoping it will, but it's still worth a shot regardless."
Hero's eyes winced at the offer, "For how long?"
"Does it matter?"
"Of course, it does! I have a life beyond this saving the world main mission." Hero quickly retorted, "Friends, families, and my cats. They'll miss me terribly."
Villain's eyes darkened, "And you're quick to assume that I care."
"You will care or I will be very difficult for you to handle."
"Much more than you already are now?" Villain tucked a strand of hair behind Hero's ear, stroking her head gently before returning her gaze back to Hero.
"Yes." Hero frowned at the gesture. The little things that Villain did, these soft little intimate touches never fail to confuse her, now and then.
"Fine, we'll go back every six months to the mortal world. But do remember that we won't stay here for no more than a week." Villain rolled her eyes upwards, "Happy?"
"Kind of." Hero raised both of her brows. "Could be happier if we're having an ice cream sandwich for tonight's dessert."
"Be good and don't wander off again." Villain patted the top of Hero's head. "And I'll get you two of those."

You know those ‘hero has a corruption arc and joins the bad guy’ tropes?
Now here me out: trope where it’s revealed that the hero had never actually been a hero. They were always evil, possibly even partners with the one believed to be their nemesis, and had just been hiding it as a tactic.
Also counts as reverse assassin-becoming-part-of-the-found-family-they-were-sent-to-kill,
where it’s instead you-thought-I-cared-but-me-and-my-‘rival’-are-actually-besties-and-you-mean-nothing-to-me

I love villains that r super evil and trying to take over the world and stuff, but they also care about the hero’s mental health and is basically just their best friend.
Like “Mwahahahah! Foolish hero! You’ll ne- whoa hey u good, bestie? U look like ur about to cry. Ok, how about u just go home and destress. We can do this some other day.”

Why do evil characters who are faking being good have to smile evilly the moment the other character’s back is turned???? Like, you know how much more convincing your act would be if you...didn’t???

MC’s interactions with nearly every consort’s fan club—a rant
Court of Darkness creators—can we please include some more regular POSITIVE female characters beyond Sherry and Violet? Move away from the overuse of the evil/malicious/ dumb fan girl trope? I get the target audience is assumed to want to center themselves around a bunch of men as love interests but that doesn’t mean most of the women in the game have to be set up as antagonists or invisible!
The potential for additional positive female characters is there! Lynt’s mother Norah is the textbook definition of precious. Female professors. Female store clerks and owners with actual names whose function isn’t to make the MC insecure or jealous. Don’t tell me Rio’s mom wouldn’t be as wonderful as her son; or that Sherry’s mom isn’t basically an older version of her daughter.
And maybe…just maybe…female students that are not princesses but are still nice and not totally clueless?
