DP x DC: The Dead Man at the Diner

Danny has a hard time maintaining regular jobs. At this point he’s pretty much nocturnal after years of being attacked at night, and possibly just part of his ghostly nature. He’s odd, and a basic google search brings up various news articles about him getting into fist fights with the mayor of a small town. He barely passed high school and college was out of the question, so who in their right mind would hire him?

What’s a job that would work with his odd hours, doesn’t require a college education, and a possible criminal record and a tendency to be ready to throw down is NOT an issue?

Danny is a cook at a 24hour Diner in Gotham

The man just needs to be able to flip a burger and make breakfast food and doesn’t mind a gun in the face because he’s well used to it. So what if the robber was dumb enough to pull that shit next to the fryer. If he didn’t want something to end up extra crispy he should have stayed out of Danny’s kitchen

Just think of all the folks he would meet.

Sure, the vigilantes of the city would be obvious and you can’t tell me spoiler isn’t dragging folks there to eat. Maybe they notice some weird things about the cook, like he doesn’t breath, his eyes reflect light like an animal’s, or the time he accidentally cut off a finger and it was fine the next day, or maybe the time a robber shot him and he just... didn’t react

And of course the person I think would love a jersey style diner breakfast at all hours: Harley Quinn

Technically she’s not supposed to bring the hyenas in, health code and all that, but everyone else is to freaked out to tell her and Danny doesn’t care. Frankly he spends his break petting them and they like him because he smells like food.

My Hero Academia AU: Ambush Simulation

Aight, storytime:

So awhile back, I was thinking about Episodes 4 & 5 of the anime Soul Eater where the gang is tasked with capturing two villains, the zombie Sid and the guy who resurrected him, Professor Stein.  (There’s also the added stakes that if they fail in this task, they’ll be expelled from school.)  After a somewhat harrowing fight, defeating Sid and losing to Stein, the plot twist is this was never a real fight, Stein and Sid were not villains, and this whole thing was just a test that was orchestrated and sanctioned by the school and definitely skewed more toward hazing than actual education.

And I thought, what if that’s all the Vanguard Action Squad was during the Summer Camp Arc?  Just a test orchestrated by UA that skewed more toward hazing than actual education. (Note:  These are the traditional LoV members, so Muscular, Mustard, and Moonfish are not part of this line-up.) At the very least, that would probably be the meanest ruse Aizawa has pulled. And you can't tell me Principal Nezu wouldn't have been all in for this plan.

"It happened once at the USJ. Despite our precautions, it could happen again. Let's teach them how to prepare...by scaring the absolute shit out of them."

"Ambush Simulation" is playing off my earlier AU comic with Shigaraki being the adopted nephew of All Might and leading a pretty normal life.  The rest of the squad is more or less in the same boat. For context, Touya’s canon divergence is he returned home after the three-year comatose and actually stayed there, but since nothing about that household environment really changed, he’s still an unhinged mess, but that is a whole other kettle of fish best saved for another comic. (Clearly getting a kick out of the prospect of scaring a bunch of kids, including his brother, half to death, though.)  Toga’s home life is rocky at best after ‘the incident,’ but she’s no longer a runaway teen.  Everybody else just kinda fell in with each other.

Their role as a vigilante team was inspired by the series Durarara!, specifically Kadota and his crew for anyone who's familiar. I genuinely forgot the Vigilantes spinoff existed...sigh, it's been awhile and I only recently got back in this fandom. The Vanguard is pretty much living by a 'you're only in trouble if you get caught,' philosophy. (And the nepotism has probably saved all their asses a few times because it doesn't look good for the No. 2 Hero if his eldest son is busted for vigilantism.)

I woke up and Lil Pump was in my bedroom, but my cat wasn’t. I got up and grabbed a bag of treats and opened the door that lead to my porch. He didn’t come in, but around 179 cats and humans dressed like the cats from the Cat movie along with Oboro Shirakumo from the manga Vigilantes, however, did. It started raining despite the fact that I'm queer.

pairing: nemuri kayama / midnight x male!reader

a/n: i really liked the concept of the midnight boys in vigilante, so i had to write for midnight crushing on one of them!

midnight was quite the popular hero amongst young men and she had caught your attention as well with her womanly charms

you knew that you wanted to be a part of her agency and become one of the so called “midnight boys” that were her sidekicks

so once you graduated, you applied for her agency and soon got the job as her sidekick – well, as one of them!

the other boys took you in quickly and helped you get accustomed with working for midnight

and it didn't take long until you got to meet midnight as well! after receiving a call, you and the other boys made your way to a crime scene, where midnight had just helped arrest a criminal

you were smitten the moment you first saw her in person, while midnight felt quite similar. you were quite the handsome young boy, just her type

from that day on, you kept getting more opportunities to work with her, even if it was mostly work such as bringing her a coffee or cleaning her office

but soon, it became clear that, despite you being the new guy, midnight had taken a liking to you, as she kept giving you the jobs that allowed the two of you to be close

though that was all she was doing for you, as she expected you to take the next step and ask her out!

after all, you're the sidekick, while she's the pro hero. you got this job because you wanted to be near her, so now you had to show you had enough courage to ask her out!

My Hero Academia AU: I Know How It Works

An Ambush Simulation Sequel. Minor trigger warning for self-deprecating PTSD references.

Legend has it Mr. Compress still can't find his way out of the woods. But give him credit for calling for help even though he knew Dabi was probably gonna be an ass about it.

Aizawa was my favorite part of drawing this one.  Dabi may not be a villain in this AU, but he’s still an exhausting person to deal with, and the job seems to have been once again delegated to the usual crazy person wrangler.

"Kid, who hurt you? Give me a name."

If you missed Part 1 of Ambush Simulation and are confused about the orange fire instead of the blue, Dabi has gone and turned the temp down for the purposes of not being identified.

The relative humidity and the soil moisture are both factors that affect forest fires. Happy, hydrated plants don't burn easily.

There is also a method to the madness behind the forest fire aside from scare tactic.  After UA’s summer camp, the Wild, Wild Pussycats are planning on hosting a class on forest restoration after wildfires for people with plant-based Quirks.  So they were planning on burning part of the forest down anyway.

Aizawa:  So…your brother——

Shouto:  What I can tell you is he has no fear, no sense, and no restraint, but otherwise my oldest brother is an enigma my family has given up on trying to understand, and it’s probably best if the rest of the world follows our lead.
