melissa young was born in the summer of 1943 in elmhurst, illinois.  melissa’s own mother died during childbirth,  and she was subsequently raised by her paternal grandparents whilst her father continued in his post as a naval recruit.   her upbringing as relatively normal for the time,   attended school,  helped her grandmother with housework and tailoring for family and friends.    melissa never felt as though she was an only child,   with children her age living so close by,   cousins that would appear every weekend with nothing but a ball and string but none of them ever shied away.    naturally outgoing,   melissa won prom queen her senior year of high school where her boyfriend of two years was crowned alongside her:   richard buckley.    neither of them knew what they wanted to do after graduation,    working dead-end jobs in diners and truckstops across america to fund their travels.      they settled into the ‘hippie’ lifestyle quickly,     following the trends over states,   with merry pranksters and the summer of love in 1967.        

02:48am,    march 10th 1968,     chicago illinois.       robin buckley was born,  named after a robin spotted on the windowsill of melissa’s hospital room,  which she viewed as a sign,   an answer to the question that they had been pondering the last 7 months.     melissa and richard already knew that they didn’t want to have any more kids,    robin had already been unplanned and unwanted-     but they loved her.      for the first year of robin’s life,   they stayed with melissa’s family,     all savings they ever had having been blown over the years of travel and partying.      in the fall of 1969,    richard’s family put down a payment on a house in hawkins,   indiana      (which can be found not far from the byers household),     in hopes that a small town with a little hippie scene would help to settle down the two reluctant parents that were all too happy with letting grandparents look after her.      it worked for awhile,     they got clean,   got jobs,   tried to get involved in town activities but couldn’t help but feel like outsiders,     like people were laughing at the efforts to fit in,   to lead the cookie cutter lifestyle that had been expected of them upon graduation.    

it didn’t remain easy,    their connections to their community were still strong,   when thanksgiving and christmas rolled around,   so did the rv’s parked along the street,    anti-thanksgiving and hippie christmas became a staple of robin’s childhood,    the already cramped house ready to split with bodies pouring in for days at a time,    cooing at how much she had grown year after year,    bags full of hand-me-down clothes from their own children,    books that were water stained and missing pages but robin would make it work,    they didn’t really mind;     a reminder that parents didn’t want to commodify her childhood with all the newest clothes—   shirts that were two sizes two big,   pants with holes.   robin learned to sew and stitch from a young age,     to make it work. 

at ten,   melissa returned to work in the laundromat,    helping her grandmother during her upbringing suddenly coming in useful for parents too busy to hem trousers,   to fix rips.     it turned robin into a latchkey kid from the fifth grade,     all too aware of the final notice bills shoved into the mailbox that would go unopened until the lights went out,     lifestyle taking priority over the function of the household.      it all came crumbling not even a year later when melissa was hospitalised for what wouldn’t have been understood yet as a drug induced psychosis,   leaving robin with just her father for two months.     she didn’t mind it—   in fact,   they thought it was easier to talk to richard compared to melissa,   it didn’t feel forced,   and he didn’t force her into conversation either.       it wasn’t really talked about when melissa returned either,    as if life just went back to normal,    robin hiding under sheets when the too familiar red and blue lights shone through the curtains,      with her constant fear of walking into the living room and not knowing where their parents were,     or if they would come home.          as robin got older,    they just didn’t leave.     in a list robin made comparing her home life to a friends,   one of the points was ‘robin’s house smells like dogs even though we don’t have any’,      drugs were a staple in the buckley home,   and it wasn’t rare for robin to return from school,    expecting the house to be empty,    to find either parent called out of work,   or left early,     dancing around the living room,    reminiscing about the good old days.      but it was normal,    it was robin’s normal.      melissa’s greater presence in that sense as robin got older plays a lot into their antisocial tendencies,   having become used to hiding away in their room,    making sure that dinner was on the table,     being a parent to her own parents.       

melissa and robin’s relationship was strained,    as if they could never quite see eye-to-eye.   robin believes it’s because there has never been room for both of them,    for emotions in general to be spoken about if they weren’t something positive,   or feel good.       all of robin’s concerns or worries were just ushered away,   crystals pressed against flesh with what was supposed to be calming mantras filling the air.     melissa didn’t make any effort to understand robin,    but robin never made that effort either,     saw it as a waste of time,    time that she didn’t have.       in chapter 3 of rebel robin,    robin attempts to have a conversation with melissa about life,    about how she,    someone who appeared to be so full of life,   a total ‘flower child’ ended up in hawkins,   and melissa’s reply?    was to tell the story of robin’s conception.      the message was received in robin’s eyes,     not wanted,    that the life they,    and robin hated,     was her fault.    

we get to see another snippet into their relationship through season four of stranger things,    with robin’s comment of ‘believe me,  my mother reminds me daily’   in regards to her speech,   and how things come off.    i do believe that they butt heads a lot within the household,    richard taking a back seat to most of their arguments,    much more interested in the ceiling and returning to the living room.       their relationship had never been good,    acted like acquaintances as opposed to mother and daughter,    but it did turn more antagonistic after robin’s attempt to run away at the end of her sophomore year.     robin worries that melissa doesn’t like her,     that sure,    maybe she’s loved like a daughter,     but it’s expected.     at her core,    she is not liked,    and does not feel like a welcome member of the family.

Aaaabsolutely. Fun fact: I love a virginal romance hero.

Historical:

Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt. One of my faaaavorite books of all time. Winter is a virgin and he doesn't plan on changing that because sex is just not something he super thinks about (I think today he'd maybe read as demi, though he does have environmental factors like being a Quaker and being very aware of how illegitimate children suffer in the streets). He also runs an orphanage by day (one of the rare romances where kids Work--Winter is PRECIOUS with kids but not like soft if that makes sense) and is a masked vigilante by night. His heroine is a society widow six years older than him, very cosmopolitan and experiences, and it's HOT. This book makes me cry, it makes me laugh. It's so good.

Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller. Another book where the hero is a virgin because he's got SHIT TO DO and he falls for a non-virginal heroine in the hotel where he's staying while he does UNDERCOVER SHIT. It's especially good because he's so uncomfortable with how hard she makes him all the time because he's supposed to be Above it.

In Want of a Viscount by Lorraine Heath. Rook is inexperienced because his father was a horrible man who sired a billion illegitimate children. He meets an American heiress who's in search of investors for her company, and they have this kissss, and it's on. BUT. Just because Rook is inexperienced in some ways, doesn't mean he's inexperienced in others. He knows a lot about "fucking without fucking". (He eats a lot of pussy.)

Melissa and the Vicar by S.M. LaViolette. Magnus is a virgin vicar and it is EXCELLENT. He's like. So hot. But so lovely? But also so, so horny and unsure of how to handle it. One of my favorite moments in this book is when he and Melissa have anal sex for the first time (well, his first time) and right after he asks her to meet his parents. As a gentleman should.

In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation by Alexandra Vasti. Henry has been in love with Margo, his best friend's sister, for years. Margo is known for being this wild party girl--what she doesn't know is that Henry is in fact a VIRGIN.

Unclaimed by Courtney Milan. The hero is a virgin and proud, he writes this treatide in the paper about why he's waiting to fall in love... and his enemy gets mad and pays a sex worker to seduce him. Enter our heroine (literally).

Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall. M/m historical! Bonny (the dramatic, excitable one) is not a virgin, but Valentine (the stern, chilly one) is. Which I found delightful. Pretty sure Alexis also wrote Valentine as demisexual.

Band Sinister by KJ Charles. Another m/m historical, Philip is decidedly not a virgin, Guy is and basically doesn't know anything about what he wants lmao.

Upcoming: The Mistress Experience by Scarlett Peckham is out in June and it's EXCELLENT. The hero isn't a virgin, but he's had sex only a couple times and it's been yeeeears since he last had it. He wants to get married and please his wife, so he hires the sex worker heroine to teach him for a month. This book has squirting. That's all.

Contemporary:

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang. Khai is on the spectrum and against relationships, but his mom wants him to get married, so she brings him a potential bride over from Vietnam. (She doesn't realize that Esme is also a single mom, but ssh.) He's a virgin, and I kinda loved this because he's like... not good at sex at all the first time, and they have to talk for him to get better.

Salt Kiss by Sierra Simone. Tristan is a total virgin (he's also 29, which is nice) and has an unfortunate habit of falling in love... easily lol. He becomes the bodyguard for Mark, who runs a sex club. It's honestly very funny to read their dynamic because Tristan has a habit of just SAYING SHIT and when Mark asks him about things he may find "hard to watch" at the club, he's like "ummmm idk MAYBE A BREEDING KINK because I WANNA BREED SOMEONE but i ALSO WANT SOMEONE TO BREED ME idk" and Mark is like ".... uh huh".

Naturally, Mark does in fact totally debauch him, only to send him off to pick up Isolde, Mark's fiancee (who Mark ALSO deflowered in Salt in the Wound, the prequel novella you don't have to read but I absolutely recommend). Then the book becomes MMF.

Paranormal:

Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole. One of my favorite IAD books. Conrad joined a vampire-killing cult when he was mortal, which required a vow of chastity. And then he got turned into a vampire against his will BY HIS BROTHERS and subsequently went completely insane for a couple hundred years. Now he's falling in love with a sexy French former burlesque dancer/ghost. Good for him! I loooove it. "Does Conrad want to see my panties" -- immortal line, pun intended.

Dark Skye by Kresley Cole. The hero of this book is a virgin like... he thinks he's an angel but he's not but he does have wings and they do Add To It.... but he's like a warrior for a super religious country and is as such a huge virgin. He loses his virginity to the heroine through a special sheet with a hole cut it in lmao. It shouldn't work. It... did for me.....

Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert. A werewolf hunter finds out she's a werewolf's fated mate, and oops, he's a virgin! A surprisingly lighthearted and super hot Halloween read.

Heart of Iron by Bec McMaster. This is a historical paranormal. The heroine is a lovely little debutante type with a Secret, and the hero is her werewolf bodyguard. In this series, werewolfitude is passed through bodily fluids, so he's a virgin. Which doesn't mean they don't Do Stuff lmao.

The Thornchapel Series by Sierra Simone. This book is MMF and FF, two separate relationships, in a group of six friends. All but two of them are virgins in the beginning, including Auden (classic Sierra Simone Brideshead Revisited rich pretty boy, baby dom) and St. Sebastian (the poor boy who was childhood friends and More with Auden, and now there's beef as they fall for the same girl and also each other). I really love the unrolling of the tension and the virginity loss stuff in this series. Everyone is SO. SO. HORNY.

Fantasy:

The King's Spinster Bride by Ruby Dixon. The hero is younger than the heroine but very confident and much more experienced in the world, generally, than her. He learns quickly, though.

Sci-Fi:

Many Ice Planet Barbarian books by Ruby Dixon have virgin heroes! Some of my favorites include:

Barbarian Alien. The cold and awkward alien literally grabs this woman who hates his ass and takes her off to a cave and then is like "well I did not think this through".

Barbarian Mine. Tbh I kinda judge myself for liking this one but it is what it is. There's a huge Tarzan and Jane vibe to this one, because the hero isn't just an alien--his dad raised him separate from the other aliens, and then he died when the hero was a kid, so he's grown up all alone and doesn't even know like.... what sex is.......... WELP. HE LEARNS.

Barbarian's Mate. Probably my favorite book in the series I've read so far. The heroine and hero hate each other, and she's never found a mate because, unbeknownst to her, her IUD kept it from working...? So it falls out and she IMMEDIATELY connects with the guy she hates and she's disgusted lmao. She lets him just come all over himself like multiple times.

Ocean Ramsey sucks, a rant and a list:

-she is not an actual marine biologist

-She has no published research and has not contributed to the field in any tangible way

-she is a serial wildlife harasser.

-she cares more about self promotion, her influencer image, and getting a cool gopro shot for Instagram than the health and safety of the animals she interacts with

-people i know who have worked with her can attest to this, but it’s also very apparent in the way she approaches animals, invades their space, chases/harasses them in that she alters how they would normally be behaving.

-exhibit a: illegally touches and rides great whites by hanging on their dorsal fins in both Hawai’i and Mexico. Every responsible diver or tour guide’s first rule is to not touch anything.

-exhibit b: when she is swimming with an 18-ft long, likely pregnant, great white that was feeding off a whale carcass off the coast of O’ahu, it looks like the shark is swimming peacefully next to her. However, you can look at how hard Ramsey is kicking, with powerful freediving fins, to keep up with the shark. That’s because the shark is trying to swim away from her, but Ramsey continually follows her with a gopro in her face. She eventually touches/pets her as the shark swims by.

After this encounter and her post, 60 people went into the water trying to get the same experience. As a result, The shark left the sight and wasn’t seen again. Obviously this is conjecture but I feel like it’s not unlikely that had she been given the proper space the shark could have/would have had more feeding opportunities. Why else would a pregnant great white leave such an enormous food source without returning?

This post by actual shark researcher Dr. Michael Domeier breaks it down really well:

-if you think i’m lying about her being self-involved: a friend of mine did her internship, along with being a bully to her husband and putting instagram shots as the priority, ramsey also tried to copyright her ponytail style. Which is honestly just funny.

-her real name is melissa lmao (nothing against that name it just shows how fake her whole persona is)

-Ramsey will argue she is showcasing sharks aren’t man eating monsters. I do appreciate the awareness she raises for shark conservation. However I would argue her posts are less about shark conservation and more influencer-style #blessed type posts.

-HOWEVER. She does it by basically demonstrating everything you aren’t supposed to do when encountering any wild animal. You can spread this message and awareness without harassing (i.e. interfering with an animal’s natural behavior) wildife. Sharks are cautious and timid, but they will defend their space if they feel the need to. One of these days her or someone trying to replicate her experiences will get hurt.

Tl;dr: melissa “ocean” ramsey is not a marine scientist or animal behavior expert in any way. She is essentially “grizzly man” but with sharks. She is not a shark whisperer. Her content, while doing some good work promoting shark conservation and awareness, does more harm than good by showcasing irresponsible and dangerous interactions with them for likes and views. Consider giving your clicks and views to folks who promote these messages responsibly.

Since Nadia kicked Arman out of the club now, do you think he'll take Thony up on her offer to stay at the clinic? Perhaps the writers won't address the issue again but it seemed like they made a big point of her kicking him out both times (maybe just to underscore the change in the status of their relationship?) Kind of surprised that Arman seemed like he still wanted to save his marriage through most of the ep. Love his character and liked the episode but really Arman?! He still seems confused, lol. I hope the writers don't try to backpedal on the marriage again. Time to move on. I would love to see Arman and Nadia have competing clubs next season! What did you think of the ep?

personally i don’t think he’ll stay at the clinic, though it’d be interesting if he did. i think that bit of dialogue was just to show that thony’s caught onto his marriage issues?

more to the meat: i’ve read a lot of people being frustrated with arman trying to save his marriage and while i totally understand why, i feel the need to defend him a bit lmao. incoming long post about arman/armony under the cut:

k to preface, this is all just my interpretation and me trying to make sense of the show so far, because like i’ve said before i don’t think the writing has been super clear either way. it could all change by next episode and i could change my mind and this could all be moot lmao. and it’s probably worth noting that a lot of these thoughts are mostly based on how the characters have been written this season only (because if i try to contextualize too much from last season we’ll just get into the same consistency issues we’ve already talked about lol)

ok first of all, while i totally get that it would be the most straightforward if characters made split decisions and stuck to them and moved forward and never looked back, i just don’t think humans work this way, and certainly not the characters in TCL lol. they’re all a mess in their own ways, and arman is no different. i don’t think that makes him a frustrating character, just a human one

my understanding of arman this season is that he’s more or less lost control of everything in his life that he knows. aside from the money issues, here’s a brief list of things that he’s lost this season: his place as hayak’s second, his business acumen (being forced out of the gun business and that’s all he’s known), his ability to run the club, his dignity while working for kamdar who’s intent on humiliating him, and now his home and marriage. when your seemingly stable life is unceremoniously thrown into chaos, i think it’s human nature to want to cling onto the familiar and cling onto what was your normalcy, and that’s what i see arman doing. he’s trying to salvage the clientele at the club, he’s trying to escape kamdar and buy the club, he’s trying to save his marriage so he can get back that stability again and piece back together the life that he had before

while it would make things so much easier for us shippers if arman just up and fell out of love with nadia, again i don’t think that’s generally how humans operate. melissa carter has said that she sees arman as being in love with the two women; obviously i don’t think he means to string anyone along, but i think they represent different parts of him: nadia in part represents his old life and the life that made him who he is. they had a life together that worked, they were a formidable business team, their goals were compatible. and like i said, putting back together his old life has basically been arman’s main focus this season. not being able to save his marriage (or at least save nadia from kamdar) would also be admitting that there’s a part of his old life that is lost forever. and while that may be true anyway, i think actually coming to terms with that and accepting the end of something you once loved and valued is easier said than done. he also doesn’t want to hurt her and wants to do the ‘right thing’. there was a really good meta piece written a few weeks ago that explained how blaming kamdar and thony for their failing marriage has been convenient for both arman and nadia instead of facing the core issues in their relationship. i’m not 100% convinced that the writers are leaning into this as much as the triangle/quad, but personally i think it makes a lot of sense. the relationship has its own issues, and i think a key piece is the introduction of thony in arman’s life

meeting thony has shifted his values and changed him from the man nadia married, so much so that even if arman did manage to retain everything from his old life, i’m not convinced that he would be truly happy anymore. i think thony has fundamentally changed arman (like he has changed her). it’s not necessarily that he consciously wants to be with thony yet, but i think the way that she challenges him on his decision-making and has this unfailing belief that he is a good person has awoken a subconscious need in arman to be good. being recognized as a good man is something he actually craves, and imo this is a large part of why he’s so unwilling to cut ties with thony. nadia doesn’t care if he is good or bad; thony does, and the reality is that arman does too. nadia has often mocked arman about having a complex to be thony’s hero; to me this clearly demonstrates a fundamental misalignment of their values and a core cause of the dissolution of their relationship. nadia literally cannot comprehend why it’s important to arman to do good things (helping luca, not immediately willing to sell opioids, etc), especially when they inconvenience their business goals, so she reasons it as infidelity and the silly need to be a hero. but to arman, it’s so much more than that: thanks to meeting thony, i think he’s growing more and more fed up with committing crimes just for the sake of climbing up the next rung on the ladder. the more thony challenges him, the more he craves the reassurance, the need to prove to her and to himself, that his soul isn’t completely rotten so he can live with himself at the end of the day

but i don’t think that arman is really aware or has fully recognized this, especially not this season when he’s been so solely focused on getting his old life back. and let’s not forget, thony has been actively trying to help him get his life back. it’s not like she consciously wants to be with him either. thony herself is too morally righteous and prideful to willingly be the reason why someone else’s marriage fails. in many ways thony and arman just want to help each other without anything in return. there’s a real beauty in this!

moreover i think arman and thony represent to each other some element of unknown that can be exciting but also cause for trepidation. i think they have a love for each other but at this point are they in love? i don’t think either of them would say so. like i said, in its current state, the nature of their relationship is very confusing and hard to define for them both — the physical attraction and emotional connection is clearly there, but they have such different lives and backgrounds that in many ways it doesn’t make sense for them to get on as well as they do. there are so many unknowns and enough excuses why they should be incompatible that i think it’s fair for both to question whether or not a romantic relationship would even make sense or be sustainable. even though this season has shown the boundaries of their personal lives blurring a little bit, it seems they’re both still trying to maintain some distance there. this was evident in their argument in ep5 where they talked about the motel guy threatening her family and kamdar threatening his — their families are still considered separate entities; they still see their lives as separate entities. does it really make sense for thony to invite a criminal into her home life and into luca’s life? does it really make sense for arman to give up on the club and wade into the unknown world of prescription meds? would it all just crash and burn?? maybe, maybe not. but i don’t blame either of them for shying away from it in favour of the lives that they’ve lived and known. and i think this juxtaposition of what should make sense to them vs what actually does is what makes their dynamic so intriguing

i don’t really want to get into the business of predicting what scenes or storylines will come up since every time i do i just end up expecting too much and getting disappointed lol. but if thematically the main development in armony’s relationship from s1 was that they trust each other, i think (hope?) maybe that the main development in s2 will be that they need each other. however it plays out, to whatever degree, romantic or not, i’ll leave up to the powers that be. and i’ll just keep hoping and praying that we get a season 3 so that we continue to see them develop and grow!

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

I'll preface this by giving some MINA LORE: a surprising portion of my new OCs have been cooked up in a strange place - my dreams! I know this might seem a little strange, but it's real! Eve is no different: the original concept for some kind of superhuman characters with red eyes that fight shit, and one whose legs don't move, all of that happened in a dream. As for the visuals, the general vibe is to be inspired off of dolls; and the leg brace is inspired by Ruby from The Path (only real OGs known my GOAT The Path) while the chest brace is inspired off of this one Doll Miku MMD model! (this was true for its first design too)

❤️- What is one of your OC’s best memories? (I hope this is the right question, the heart shows up black on my screen HAHA)

This is a difficult one to answer since most of her old memories are gone, but I think that the one it held onto would be a memory from like, super early childhood; Eve doesn't remember her parents, where she used to live, or any of those things. But she does remember dancing; ballet, to be more specific. Its legs don't move like they used to, but I think whenever she is struggling, it's as if that's the last thing for her to cling onto.

I'm very happy to say yes to that question! 100% the first design, shipped and made just like that HAHA. Iris and Melissa were both made with picrews as their initial inspiration - it was basically like a "twin" maker but i just ended up making two unique characters that looked like an angel and a devil. Everything in her design, from the extremely low-cut dress, to the golden accents, to the red-tinted wings was always just me vibing with that from the start. I still think they're both some of my most interesting designs. As for the vines on their legs, they are part of the body and not part of the outfits. They reflect the powers; softer vines tend to imply powers that are protective, while spiked/sharp vines tend to imply offensive powers. This just turned into "talk about my angel and demon designs" hour LMAO anyways there you go! I'm really proud of them!

do you think any of the current actors have the capacity/are on a trajectory of being a Star™️ in the sense of like 90s movie stars? i feel like zendaya gives me that vibe a bit in her offscreen presence and we’ve already talked about her acting’s growth potential. other than that no one immediately comes to mind. i think you know what i mean but to clarify, when i say 90s movie stars, i mean actors who become household names, whose name is automatically makes me people want to go to the theatre, someone who oozes charisma. like do you think that’s possible in this era or are we too far gone? this obviously for younger actors and not like established folks lmao

It's funny because I've thought about this in the past because I'm always aware that stardom looks different to me than it probably does now but in my view, I agree that Zendaya is probably the closest to that but no one else comes to mind and it's also because movies have changed, basically now, there's Marvel and then everything else that hardly gets any play because Marvel/Disney is cannibalizing everything, so it's basically xyz actor has joined the MCU hurrah! which at least to me only warrants a shrug whereas in the 90s, it would be like all the teen stars you know from your favourite tv shows or that other successful teen movie you like are in this one fun, slasher movie

and you're seeing them everywhere

and the shows in the 90s were, like, defining a generation and the closest thing you have to that now is Euphoria and it doesn't have the same impact as a show like Dawson's Creek

and having that kind of hold generates a desire to see them in other things.

and there was the combination power of a teen actor icon and a teen pop icon so I don't know if I would consider Melissa Joan Hart an icon, but Sabrina The Teenage Witch was popular and Britney Spears was popular so you had Drive Me Crazy

whereas now you wouldn't go to the theatre to see Drive Me Crazy or 10 Things I Hate About You or American Pie or Clueless, you would catch it on Netflix and that just does not generate the same type of star power.

Even the early 00s, the blend of Hollywood and kung fu action movies were having a resurgence in North America because Rush Hour was so successful in '98

and The Matrix had used martial arts

which leads to things like Romeo Must Die in 2000, particularly when there is a history of kung fu movies being extremely popular with Black Americans (i.e. Bruce Lee/Bruce Lee movies in the 70s, Kareem Abdul Jabbar even had an appearance in Game of Death) and there were some crossovers of blaxploitation and kung fu movies, so people were flocking to see Aaliyah in her first film role and I remember it being a huge deal that DMX had a cameo

the closest you kind of get to that now from what I've seen is Megan Thee Stallion twerking in She Hulk and Harry Styles doing whatever the fuck he's doing.

It basically feels like now, actors have, like, cult followings rather than massive appeal? Like for instance, I know that Dylan O'Brien is beloved but it's not like what Leo-mania was in the 90s.

I am almost certainly now going to Switzerland for my master’s in February, and as such am looking for a German exchange partner! My German is probably C1 with comprehension C1/C2, and I’m looking to improve my academic and general German. 

I am a native English speaker, a qualified ESL teacher, and can also offer beginner Chinese...or beginner French, Spanish etc (but preferably English or Chinese lmao). I have experience with fairly advanced students so if your English is great but you just want to improve even more...we can also do that! I also have experience with accent reduction.

i know this isnt an orginal idea by any means but roleswap!narumitsu is just so good

so youll have to indulge me because this lives in my head rent free and i want to write it down concretely somewhere (also this gets LONG so ill pop a cut in here)

alright so:

1. at least in my writing of it, this is also a no-dl6/gregory lives au. but as well at that, miles and phoenix didnt go to school together

2. this means that there was nobody to defend phoenix at the class trial (yes i know the money stolen was edgeworths but shhh lets pretend it was someone elses, kay?) this lead to phoenix becoming not only bitter, but somewhat obsessive over the idea of punishing people that do wrong

(if someone can find that quote where phoenix talks about how he could have become a prosecutor because of the trial i will give u a gentle kiss on the forehead) 

3. Edgeworth was raised by Gregory and ends up becoming a defense attorney

4. in this, Von Karma goes down and Franzy is adopted by Gregory, and she assists Miles in his cases. (she can still have a whip, as a treat.)

5. anyway with that set up, lets get into some cases

6. Larry gets accused of Cindys murder, Miles defends with Franzy

7. Lets say Mia was in the crowd of that trial and decided to contact miles, seeing as he appears to be another uncorrupt lawyer and asks him for his help in taking down Redd White

8. He agrees, and she sets a time for him to meet at her office so they can talk. Mia then calls her sister and updates her on how shes going to recruit another person (Redd White hears this)

9. Much like the original case, Mia gets murdered, but this time, Maya isnt here to be blamed. Instead, its Miles himself, as the name that White heard over the phone (so basically we’re speed running to the “defend yourself in court” part)

10. the prosecutor today is Phoenix Wright.

11. but before that lets go into some backstory actually. Phoenix had encountered Mia previously during the Terry Fawles case. He had respected her as a peer, if not for just her determination and deductive skills. (After all, he was young at the time and solely focused on punishing the wicked) After Diego’s poisoning, he had briefly reached out for condolences

12. but anyway, Phoenix had distantly respected Mia, and now that she was dead, he was going to be tough on whoever he thought murdered her.

13. Miles proves his innocence, although it takes some baiting to get Redd White out of his building and actually into court. 

14. Wright is... not pleased about this, but theres not much he can do. His displeasure for Mias murder has shifted, but theres a new displeasure for Miles, the man who could beat him in court. (”well well well, you managed to save your own skin. But you should hope you get as lucky as you did in your next case”)

15. Next case! We know Miles is a steel samurai fan, so even without Maya it takes very little convincing for him to take the case. (Fran is not as amused but trusts her brother... enough.. to follow his lead)

16. Case proceeds mostly as normal, with Phoenix requiring Dee to re-do her testimony (maybe something deep within him still itches to put the true bad guy away, even if its harder than the accused)

17. I dont think Phonix would deliver the unnecessary feelings line, although there definetely is that moment in the lobby where hes like “hm. maybe you arent a bad person, but that doesnt mean i have to like you.”

18. and now, now now now, we finally get to the part where i somehow managed to put the most thought into. (for context it is nearly 2 am when i am writing this)

19. sleep schedule aside, you couldnt have thought i would made this WITHOUT some good angst, so here we go. case four is similarly structured to the original, but with an extra side of Phoenix angst.

20. Miles wakes up to Franzy shaking him. She points to the television. the news is on, but the voices are drowned out by a distant ringing as he stares at the image on the screen.

Famed Prosecutor Phoenix Wright Arrested For Murder

21. it just doesnt make sense. So he gets out of bed and into the closest clothes he can find and out the door with his sister in tow. He sits in the cold detention room, thinking about the other side of the glass.

22. Phoenix Wright looks dull. He asks what they want. Miles says he wants an explanation. Wright sneers and asks why. For some reason, that pisses Miles off. He slams his badge to the glass and Wright looks surprised.

“Do you know what this is? It’s my attorneys badge.”

“the badge doesnt mean youre a good lawyer.”

“Well Mr Wright, its 2-0, so i dont think you have any right to say that.” Miles glares at him and Wright sits back in his seat. He watches Miles for a long time.

“If im going to defend you, you need to tell me what happened.“ Wrights eyebrows shoot up and Franziska squawks at his side

“What do you mean defend him!”

“What she said.”

Miles narrows his eyes at Wright as he ponders to himself the answer. Why is he doing it? the answer comes to him. 

“Because i dont believe you did it.”

For all his snark, Miles cant bring himself to believe that the man in front of him would kill someone. Theres something about him, either in his eyes or the way he carries himself that makes the idea itself preposterous. Wright looks at him for a long time after he says it.

“Very well.”

21. Miles doesnt seem him until court, but at least he testifies. The next person up, a red head by the name of Melissa Foster, gives a testimony that seems airtight.

22. that is, until he looks over at Phoenix, who is pale as he looks at the woman on the witness stand. Phoenix catches his eye, and very carefully, very slowly, mouths one name.

Dahlia Hawthorne

23. (I really wish i could continue with the more narrative parts of this but im honestly running out of steam and ill get to the point lol. Maybe ill finish it later.)

24. Terry Fawles dies on the stand. Diego Armando falls into a coma. Dahlia Hawthorne walks free. Even after what happened to Diego, Phoenix is convinced he can do better. He sets up a meeting with Dahlia.

25. Doug shows up, trying to persuade him away from it, saying he overheard Dahlia’s plan to kill Phoenix when she arrives. Phoenix is cocky, and the pair fight. Doug gets shoved into the powerline. Phoenix, thinking him dead, panics and runs.

26. Dahlia, having overheard, goes back and finishes him off, drops some poison into his mouth perhaps. With an accidental death with a cause so obvious, nobody bothers to run blood tests (until Miles)

27. Its years later, and Phoenix gets a note that tells him they know what really happened to Doug. Phoenix arrives to a meeting place to find a dead body. He picks up the vial of poison almost absently. 

28. After all, Dahlia had gotten rid of Diego and Mia was dead. Now all she had to do was get rid of Phoenix

29. It plays out similarly to case four, with Phoenix being absolved of the first murder, then confessing to the old one. Miles has gone through the work to save his life once, that he cant not do it again.

30. but happy endings (ish) for all, with Phoenix being freed, Dahlia imprisoned and Miles having a better understanding of both him and Phoenix.

31. maybe more happens but we’re at bullet point 31 so its time to stop for now lmao. uh but yeah! roleswap au..... brainrot really.

Caryl moments you're looking forward to/hoping for in the spinoff (besides the obvious!) - for me it's Daryl teaching Carol how to ride the motorcycle :)

Oh boy, have I been waiting all day to write this. *Cracks knuckles*

Any motorcycle stuff is good tier; Daryl hovering over her with his hands over hers on the handlebars while he shows her the clutch/brake, Carol straddling him on the bike for a quick passionate makeout before they drive off somewhere—In fact that last bit is my ultimate crackheadcanon for the final scene we see of them in the main show. (I dream big)

Helping each other dress down for the night/get dressed in the morning and pausing to kiss each other’s scars. I especially see and love the idea of Carol doing this.

Cuddling and telling stories by a camp fire. And just like, more of them acting domestic as they move from campsite to campsite. The haircut scene from 9x07 was one hell of a teaser and I’m awaiting the feature.

Speaking of hair, Daryl playing with strands of Carol’s hair.

If they end up in another place with running water at some point: mutual shower time, obviously. (Other couples have gotten shower moments on this show, Caryl will be overdue for one or two!) And like, I see them falling into it out of pure convenience initially, because they’re naturally such a unit they’d think efficiency first and foremost :)) Honestly it doesn’t even have to be a traditional shower, they could just be trying to clean up wherever and it turns flirty.

This one’s kinda corny but I’d love to see Daryl take to a pet name for Carol, since she already has one for him. I imagine a standard term of endearment, but coming from Daryl it would be hilarious and adorable no matter what.

Getting stuck holed up somewhere until a threat passes but they find an old bottle of whiskey. And it tastes like shit but it gets them past the time with genuine laughs and carefree canoodling

For that healthy dose of angst, an episode or so where some kind of danger spirals into them getting separated by accident, and leads one or both of them to believe the other could be seriously injured, in trouble or worse, and then the absolute tooth rotting fluff moment of them finally finding each other unharmed, in a deperate embrace of emotions.

Acting super overprotective of one another/threatening potential hostiles they cross paths with for breathing too close to their respective boo

Making cigarettes and smoking them together

Nursing each other after an injury and being just a lil overbearing and cute about it

Turning random tasks into playful contests (just like acorn kick the can) and like making petty bets and shit too that may or may not involve sexual favours :)))

Obviously want to see Caryl + visiting iconic North American landmarks; maybe the grand canyon, and some Mayan ruins would be sick if they end up going that far south. If they come up to Canada and start tearing it up in my neck of the woods I think I would die lol. These would also be such priceless Daryl moments, because our bby has never seen anything outside of the southeastern states.

Stealing neat trinkets and stuff to give to each other as gifts, and being excited to surprise each other with it. Maybe they even give each other matching stick n pokes at one point, Idk

Okay lastly, (and this is sort of a specific headcanon I have that stems all the way back from that image of Melissa holding the guitar, lmao) They stumble across a safe-ish area late one night that has super weird western vibes, and surprise! It’s actually a fucking bar, with a bunch of burly scary lookin people on edge. And just when it seems like they’re all about to throw down they’re like, we’ll chill in exchange for one song. Daryl blinks and Carol is like, fuck it I’ll sing something for y’all if that’s what it takes for us to crash here tonight, so be it :) A couple of dudes with beat up instruments are already at the ready in an elevated corner of the room, and Carol sings some knockoff accoustic piece akin to Ride by LDR. The entire room is just hollering and thoroughly into it, and Daryl stares on with heart eyes and amazed bewilderment at what is transpiring. Cue some flash cuts afterwards of Daryl and Carol smashing beers with these complete strangers and all of them genuinely enjoying each others’ presence. 🎬

Whew, that was a full ted talk. They will be the death of me. I swear, I could watch another decade of their adventures together and it would never get boring. Caryl truly are in their own league. I’m enthralled by the proximity of just seeing them existing, basically.

ngc ramblings part 3- chapter 5

here we are at part 3!!! sorry this one took so long, i originally was gonna make this post include entropy and extus (along with finally talking about face in depth) but it was so fuckin long that im splitting it into 2 different posts! the next part isnt done yet but im like almost halfway done so it shouldnt be too much longer until its out! also before we get into this one:

at the start of entropy zach doesnt waste any time getting right to the point. this place is bigger than the other planets so far, and zach says the music this time around is a melody that “started out normal but then got distorted” played by a violin sounding instrument. even tho i do sometimes forget that this is supposed to be a creepypasta im not surprised that he said it made him feel depressed and unnerved lmao. anyways, this planet has all new level types in it!! no reused ones!! ok now this is epic. the bosses this time around are megalon, battra, and mechagodzilla, but itll be a good while before we get to those guys because this chapter is long as hell holy shit?? buckle up babez <33 now, before i get into the meat of things as usual im gonna talk abt the planet name! entropy basically means “a lack of order/predictability or a gradual decline into disorder” and that's very accurate to this part of the story. at this point, red is pissed off and is getting desperate, which means from here on out things are going to be getting more intense and more unstable. this world is the turning point in the overall story, basically.

now with that out of the way, zach first goes to the worlds quiz level as usual! this time something was different. usually, in the quiz levels there would be goofy ass music playin in the bg (specifically the GH1D0RA cheat music, if you wanna like listen to it ig?) but from here on out its been replaced by the music from the games password screen, which zach called creepy earlier on in the pasta. im gonna glaze over the quiz again this time, but when we get to the next planet ill talk about all of the quizzes in depth all at once. basically all you need to know for now abt what happens here is face asks “do you like mothra?” and when zach picks no (after going on a tangent abt how mothra sucks lmao,, bro i swear im good at the game my controllers just messed up /s), face enters bastard mode and goes “TOO BAD!” and boom now zach cant play as anyone but mothra. zach is pissed for now but little does he know this is just going to become an even more epic gamer bc of this,, youll never get better at something if you never try and all that.

after that, zach moves on to the first level type- the forest. immediately zach gets an eerie feeling from this level bc he has some kinda fear involving forests at night (i can think of a reason why but ill have to talk abt that later just to be sure). hes also not feelin great about being forced to play as mothra, so the pressure of it all is def starting to get to him by now. the music in the forest is woodwinds followed by slow, rhythmic drums and chiming bells. must have been some ominous woodwinds and bells bc it made him feel like he was intruding somewhere he shouldnt be (oh rlly?? u dont say,, everything up until now has been fine /s). getting into the level itself, eventually zach comes across some weird deer-like monsters just vibing and scares them away when he gets close. later in the level he finds more of these weird deer along with a sloth-like creature on some of the trees and some raptor dudes killing some of the deer. zach shoots one of the raptors but thats about it. nothing really happened in this level but zach noted that he didnt feel like he was playing a video game, but instead it felt more like he was exploring a forest in another dimension. thats interesting for reasons ill ~get to later~ (yall must be so tired of hearing that by now omg,, i know im tired of saying it at least. i was gonna wait until after replay to talk about things but i severely underestimated how long this whole project would be, so i might make a post for the “more on that later” stuff before i get into replay. let me know what u think i should do).

anyways, the next thing zach checks out is the first tv screen level so far. these levels just play an animation with some music in the background, and theres a different animation per level. this time around the animation is of a kid with a beaver(?) head licking a lollipop and the music is the GH1D0RA music that the quiz levels used to use. the only thing of note here is that zach says he had a shirt that looked just like that when he was a kid. after that, were off to some of the weirdest fuckin levels in this whole thing imo- the hourglass levels. these levels have an entirely brown color palette, with grandfather clocks standing in the background (the level appears to be in like a hallway or something) and various time measuring things floating in the air. the music is the same as the board (ig cosby just didnt feel like thinking of what theme this place would have lol). after a little bit zach was rlly happy to see actual enemies from the normal game show up! these are basically like aircraft, tanks, etc. thats not the main attraction here tho, bc this level has its own unique mechanic! this mechanic is the colored hourglass items you can pick up. there are three of them, a blue one that slows time down and makes enemies from the past appear, a red one that speeds up time and makes enemies from the future appear, and a green one that made the time flow normally and spawned enemies from the normal game. zach found the blue one first, which caused a bunch of prehistoric enemies based on real animals to show up. after that he found a green one and fought normal enemies again, and then he found a red hourglass. the future enemies here look like aliens to me, and zach says that one enemy reminds him of something he saw in a book once. eventually, a special future creature showed up and zach was suddenly in a boss battle! or a mini boss battle? that description is probably more accurate. this guy doesnt have a face, and he can only attack by shooting a beam from his face, it sure does look cool! after zach beat it tho, he was off to the next level type, which is basically a toxic waste dump.

zach called it grungy and inhospitable, with the music being a synth ambient loop that made him feel dizzy while he listened to it. this is important because this is the first instance of the game making zach feel something *physically*, not just psychologically. all of the enemies here are mutated to some degree, with him first seeing green mummies with bird skulls coming out from vats of toxic slutch and a brownish cow skeleton monster with spider legs. later zach comes across a deer from the woods, drinking some toxic slutch (delinchous). zach got close to it to try making it stopped but suddenly some enemies came out of nowhere and scared it into running right off a ledge and into the slutch. rip :pensive:. after that zach found more mutated enemies (i.e some things with tentacles and some other deformed thing with human teeth) before he finally gets to the end of the level, where theres another miniboss waiting for him!! this ones a toxic sludge monster with a whale skull who attacks with a mouth projectile and by charging into you. the monster sank into the slutch and thats all for this level babeyy!

the next level is another forest, but this time its winter! its still at night, but this time zach doesnt feel off put, which he mostly attributes to the music. he describes it as a gentle, calm song that almost sounded romantic. the entire first segment of this level had no enemies in it, but dw this level is interesting i swear. the next segment starts out just as empty as the last one, but this time its silent. that is, until the music from “unforgiving cold” starts playing. yaa you remember that place!! i think i said it was less interesting than i remembered but its interesting again now bc it was foreshadowing these levels!! anyways soon after the music started up, zach started to come across tons of frozen bodies of the deer from earlier. some were mutilated, some werent, but they were all frozen and covered in snow. eventually zach does come across something living though, a sloth creature from earlier! its just vibing when suddenly the winter versions of the raptors from earlier rush in and fuckin obliterate the sloth thing. those things just blindly try killing everything in sight, and even start fighting themselves before zach finally gets to the last part of the level.

now this is where shit starts to get crayzay. this part opens up to a big empty field with a full moon and the nice music from earlier back. despite the nice music tho, zach immediately starts feeling dread and eventually he finds a lake. the lake comes down from the sky and starts to crack like an egg, a humanoid figure curled up in the fetus position dropping into the lake below and the moon halves disintegrated. this spawned the moon beast, the hardest challenge zachs had to deal with so far. after he finally defeats it, the screen goes to black and the name “melissa” is on screen, written in red. after that, the screen then says kys. the word kill then fills up the screen, layering over itself until it forms a picture of reds face. its now that we finally get to hear abt the whole melissa thing (which makes it sound like shes been mentioned in the pasta before this but thats not what i mean lmao). to summarize, zach had a middle school gf named melissa (also bro middle school?? wadda hell) who often went into “episodes” where she would stare off, expressionless, before trembling and putting her face in her hands. she and zach hung out in a field at night a lot but one night she just stared at the moon the whole time before running into traffic and dying.

NOW its finally later!!! were not done with entropy yet, but this is the end of part one of entropy so i wanna just take a little break to talk about things so far. this planet is FULL of symbolism and foreshadowing. to start off, i think a lot of the questions face asks at the beginning foreshadow things that happen. some examples are “is time slipping though your fingers?” which could allude to the time levels, “do you have any regrets?” which i think obviously foreshadows the whole melissa thing, “is it safe to go out at night?” and “do you find it hard to sleep at night?” both follow the same kinda theme, which i think relates to how the melissa incident happened at night, specifically out at night. i dont think the forest levels have anything too important in them, other than to introduce the presence of an innocent, harmless creature that doesnt deserve what happens to it later (aka the deer things) which might symbolize melissa. more evidence for this symbolizing melissa comes from the encounter with the deer in the toxic dump and the winter forest, where in the former zach tries to stop it from hurting itself but is too late, being forced to watch it die, and in the latter the same innocent thing from earlier is found dead close to where the real incident took place. the two big themes to keep in mind here are death and time, more specifically the past. most of the enemies here are either made from bones or kill other enemies, there's a dedicated time level referencing things that zach remembers seeing at one point (aka that one alien zach recognized), the beaver head had the same shirt as child zach did, it all connects to zachs past and the death of melissa. as for the moon beast, its the most obvious reference for reasons ive already explained. i dont really know what the moon cracking open and dropping a curled up human into the lake could mean other than some other thing melissa related, but i *do* think that the fact that the moon beast is the most difficult thing zach has faced so far is symbolic of the fact that the trauma from this event has followed him throughout his entire life, and its something he struggles with daily. it could even be the reason why he said no when face asked if he could sleep easily at night. the moon beast also has some black fur around its neck, which i think is meant to represent a tire track, referencing and/or mocking the way melissa died.

its so cool how this entire part of the story builds up to and foreshadows the bomb it drops at the end of the part, giving people something to look back on. a lot of ppl say that as soon as the melissa stuff gets introduced the story goes down in quality, and i do somewhat agree with that sentiment, especially if they want the story to actually be scary, but i think the direction the story goes from this point on is so unique and cool. it does follow the whole “theres a ghost in the game” troupe (even tho it was probably seen as a spin on that originally) but it doesnt do the same cliches as so many other gaming creepypastas do and it really takes the concept and makes it its own. i just think its neat,,,

anyways im done gushing abt this story, lets get on with part 2 of extus!! basically zach has a fuckin panic attack and, after taking a few minutes to calm himself down when its over, he decides that he has to finish the game now because if he doesnt its just going to haunt him for the rest of his life. zach has now realized that the game is “alive” and can somehow see his thoughts and memories, so understandably hes pretty freaked out by it at this point. when he keeps playing, the first thing he does is check out another tv screen level. this time, the animation is of a fish dude just kinda standing there with his mouth flapping open and closed and the music is the neptune board music from the original game. the only reason i can think of for why this is here is maybe the game is mocking zach for the panic attack he just had (bc when u have a panic attack you feel like you can barely breathe, if ur lucky enough to have never had one before and u dont know) but thats abt it. its probably just a random goofy thing cosby threw in there.

anyways, the next actual level is the first labyrinth level. this time around, its a gold labyrinth specifically. the music in these levels is a slow, ominous drum beat with female vocals occasionally coming in and (basically from here on out) the monster zach plays as is now half the size it used to be. i think this shows how zachs feeling at this point, like this whole thing isnt just being a big strong monster and beating up enemies any more, he feels small and scared and helpless in the face of something potentially dangerous that he doesnt understand maybe his confusion about the game is the reason *why* theres so many labyrinth levels here in the first place. anyways im getting ahead of myself. personally, i think the aesthetic of the gold labyrinth is very similar to the green temples back on trance. while trance had a more circular and soft theme to it's architecture and sculpture, entropys is much more square or rectangle oriented. despite this, i think that the golden mazes at least are another religious kind of building, and the architecture is just different because theyre two different cultures who just happen to worship the same spiritual figure (aka melissa. did i say that earlier? i think i did,, if i didnt well the religions worship melissa, not knowing she's a dead human or anything. probably).

moving on, zach notes how the gold labyrinth would probably have been impossible to navigate as any of the other monsters, so turns out face being an asshole was a blessing in disguise after all huh? anyways this place is full of weird gold monsters, lava/fire traps, and stone faces (both in more of an easter island head style and in the regular feminine headshot weve seen so far). zach comes across two feminine heads, one that is more adult looking and pure gold, and another one that looks much younger and whos eyes have red irises and blue scleras. this statue apparently looks a lot like melissa did on the night she died, so zach leaves it pretty quickly. i *think* this is the first time we see the color blue associated with melissa? if it isnt sorry abt that, its been a couple days since i worked on ngcr so ive forgotten some of the smaller or more subtle things by now. GOD i keep getting side tracked ANYWAYS eventually zach finds a non-gold enemy and sees it get picked up by like an arcade crane claw. hes curious so he follows the claw, only to see the monster be put in a big gold cauldron and walk out the side of it as a gold monster.

gonna be honest, no idea what the hell this could mean. like? theres been no themes of corruption or good things becoming evil so far so this just kinda. exists,, yea idk lol. im not part of like any discord servers or anything so all this theorizing and analysis has just been me, maybe getting some small ideas from like random youtube comments or something, so if something ive said so far has been unanimously disagreed with somewhere i dont know about it. thats also why this isnt really a definitive or comprehensive analysis (even tho im trying to be as comprehensive as i can).

anyways zach finds the exit soon after and hes on to the next level type (there's so fucking many of them ik dont worry weve almost gotten to all of them now), the indigo cliffs. the background of these levels is similar to the blue mountains from trance, but now the moon and clouds from the toxic dump background is also here (and colored indigo to match). the music here is just a deep rumbling noise. the first “enemies” he sees here are just a bunch of multicolored little guys coming out of a hole in the ground and jumping off a cliff. were continuing the death theme yall!! anyways zach continues, flying over some more weird creatures (tho some of them just look like dinosaurs lol) before he sees a bunch more of the multicolored guys out and about but this time theyre getting grabbed by birds!! wadda heel!!! zach comments on how the multicolored dudes seem eager to die and thinks maybe the moon has something to do with it (like melissa dude wat!!!! that's crazy /s). at the end of the level there were some more multicolored dudes just walking into a creatures mouth so zach attacked the thing and killed it and the levels over yay!

now its time for the bosses babeyy!!! first zach fights battra (basically an evil moth kaiju), the music is varans theme. battra starts off in his larvae form, where he basically just fought by running into you and shooting stuff at you. while fighting this form, zach noticed that the game buffed mothra because his gamer skillz were too cringe lmaoo. he beats the larvae form and battra goes into his second form, where hes basically a stronger clone of mothra (misogyny). zach fights battra and has fun doing it (for once,, good for him) and he wins yay! next hes fighting megalon (a big beetle/bug kaiju), whos music was gigans theme. im tired when im writing this so ill just give you zachs description of how he fought: “strong, persistent, but dumb”. after this, zach checks out the last tv screen of entropy. this time, it shows a big buff guy with a sack over his head hit a womans head with a sledgehammer while shes tied to a table or something. the music for it was the password theme. i think this is probably here because red is getting angrier? like this guy is still here after i triggered his ptsd?? what the hell!!!

anyways before we get to the last boss we have one last level type to get through- the shadow labyrinth. at this point, zach starts to feel drained because no shit sherlock you just had a panic attack and youve been playing this game for fuckin several hours at this point of course youre fuckin drained. anyways zach enters the shadow labyrinth, which is a black recolor of the gold labyrinth. the music is “evil ambience” similar to unforgiving colds music but distinctly different apparently. there werent any enemies so zach just kinda wandered for a while until the lights turned off, darkening the whole screen and (secretly) spawning tons of spooky enemies thatll chase and hit mothra in the dark. eventually the lights came back on and zach started scrambling to the exit. when the lights turned back off, zach was able to find one of the melissa looking statues and stood next to it. it warded off the monsters while the lights were off, so zach was safe. i think this shows 2 things: 1) its a little more validation for my “religion in this world worships melissa” theory and 2) it foreshadows the way melissa wants to protect zach at the end of the game. zach beat the shadow labyrinth a lot faster than the gold one so were done with all the stages now!! now theres only the last boss and red and were done with entropy!

the last boss is mechagodzilla, but when zach starts the level, normal godzilla is there instead!! its whatever tho bc soon the disguise is gone and its just pretty much the normal mechagodzilla fight (but now hes got a gay beam). at about half health tho, mechagodzillas sprite breaks into pieces like gezoras did way back on earth and reforms into not-mechagodzilla. even tho it looks uncanny (and the usage of the face statue on the front is probably there to further mock zach bc melissa) zach beats it p easily and now its time for the chase. ba dum ba dum thats the sound of a chase.

as usual tho, before i get to the red chase its time to talk about entropy as a planet!! i think the best way to describe the layout is “a big forest with a toxic waste dump in it takes up half the planet while the other half is a large religious temple/labyrinth with a dangerous underbelly”. there doesnt seem to be any intelligent life there now (its all dead by now probably) but there was at some point at least because imean the huge labyrinth is there dude!!! i dont have much to say for this section tbh bc i feel like i've already said everything i wanted to, so its time for the chase ig!!

basically the chase with red here takes place in a labyrinth level bc of course it does. this labyrinth, however, seems to be made of some kind of organic matter. is it flesh? organs? nondescript viscera? idk but it's pulsating and bloody. also this time red has wings too!! anyways, basically zach avoids red throughout the maze, red breaks through one of the walls with his big alien tongue, and zach gets to the end of the maze. nothing crazy happens at the end of this chapter (i think it was crazy enough as is) so thats the end of that and now its time for the penultimate planet- extus.

So like everyone in my household clearly knows that I am the Gleek Of The Week every single week. But lately my sister has been questioning my authoriglee by doing Glee related things without me. Listening to Glee playlists when I’m not in the car, watching the Glee concert movie when I’m asleep

Anyway so she comes up to me tonight and starts talking about her rewrite of the entire series. And I got a little lost bc I swear she talked about two different series and also a spin off so I got a little confused but here’s what I sort of remember:

The oldest students are Quinn, Rachel, Mercedes, Mike, Puck, aaand Tina? Bc she tried to order it according to the actors’ ages and most of them were born in ‘86

Meaning Kurt is one of the youngest original members since Chris is the baby of the group and he’d be a freshman at the beginning 

Artie and Blaine aaand I think Santana and Brittany are sophomores

When the first batch graduates, Mercedes, Puck, and Mike go to California while Rachel, Quinn, and Tina go to NY

Rachel doesn’t harass Carmen and doesn’t get into NYADA on her first try but she goes to NY anyway and of course she eventually gets in

Brittana doesn’t happen and Brittany isn’t even bi, but Santana is bi

But the main lesbian relationship is Faberry bc she’s always been a Faberry stan

Oh okay one thing I really liked. Tina and Artie stay together through the start of s2 but eventually they start to grow apart until they naturally break up. But they’d been picked to do the duet during s2 sectionals so they sing I’ve Had The Time Of My Life and it’s like a cute little send up of their relationship 

Santana goes to California when she graduates so Sancedes can hang out and have lots of great duets together

But eventually they both move to NY cause that’s where most of the spin off takes place. I think she basically left Puck in the dust but Mike pops in from time to time in NY

Also Blaine and Artie go to NY

Brody is there for like 5 seasons. We stan Brody in this household 

Finn dies in Kurt’s senior year, and that’s also the year Burt gets sick. So it puts Kurt off going to NY for several months until Burt convinces him to go

The new characters are actually integrated naturally into the story so we grow to care about them without them being shoved in our faces. A no brainer

Kitty isn’t there (which is bull bc I thought she liked Kitty) and Melissa is there but she’s not Marley. But Marley is there but played by Samantha Marie Ware. I did my best to keep up

Oh also Hunter is in NY for some reason?? Bc there had to be an antagonist there lmao

Now onto all the musicals they performed...

I don’t remember if she kept Cabaret or got rid of it, not that it mattered 

They still do Rocky Horror but they go to a midnight screening and act it out with the movie 

I think Chicago was next. And Mercedes’s issue was that everyone expected her to be Matron Mama Morton but she didn’t wanna do that part just bc it was expected. So she gets to be Velma, and Santana is Mama Morton. And Kurt wanted to be Billy but Blaine got that part, and Kurt is Amos. So we get a full version of Mr. Cellophane yay. Also Rachel is Roxie, duh 

She also mentioned Carrie and Heathers but ?? idk when they would be oops. She mostly wanted to throw them in there so that Riverdale couldn’t get their hands on them

Then there was Into The Woods. I know she said Kurt would be Jack and Blaine would be The Baker. Aaand I think Santana is The Witch which I’m all for 

And then in the last season they’d do Grease bc it’d be like a full circle moment since they did “You’re The One That I Want” in the pilot <3 And Jake would be Danny and Marley would be Sandy. But SMW is Marley don’t forget

Oh and Rachel would be at NYADA for a year and a half before getting the lead in this new show. But not FG, just a new show. And so she throws everything into it and drops out of school, puts all her eggs in this basket. The season finale is her opening night and spirits are high and it’s great

And then the next season basically picks up immediately after and the show is a huge flop and closed pretty much immediately and so it’s basically like the start of s6 just for a Broadway show instead of a television show

So Rachel is embarrassed and feels dumb and goes back to Ohio to wallow and be sad. And then the last season is basically just Rachel coaching the new glee club in Ohio and the old characters only come back for like holidays and stuff

And that’s when they put on Grease, when she’s in charge, so yeah

Alpha Louis/Alpha Harry series, 14hrflight/ @got2ghost, 22k (Harry/Louis). SO MANY GENDER ISSUES EXPLORED HERE, WOW!! College roommates come to terms with their identity, and, mannnnn, do I love it when a/b/o gets unstraightened, if you will, chef’s kiss all around.

Nothing You Can Do (But You Can Learn How to Be You in Time), Teumessian, 28k (Harry/Louis). Also known as the pinterest fic, this one is just so soft and lovely, an identity story told through hair (among other things).

genderfluid!harry series, istajmaal, 33k (Harry/Louis). This entire series hits just as hard today as it did when it was written in 2013, a time when people were aggressively trying to make fetch frat boy Harry happen (some of ‘em still are, lmao). Anyway, this is another author I highly rec for all their other fic, but this one does an A+ job of describing Harry’s gender exploration mid-D madness. 

Amor Victorious, HappyPrincess/ @pattern-pals, 38k (Harry/Louis). Another brilliant work from Nina, you feel like you’re on this journey with them, PLUS it dives deep into gender identity struggles, PLUS it throws a/b/o for a loop, all of which equals a big yes from me!

hush., wankerville, 41k (Harry/Louis). One of my all-time faves, this one tackles so many phobias, all while being set in a small-town America high school AU and managing to be the softest, most gorgeous, most hopeful thing in spite (because?) of that.

Time Passed, coffinofachimera/ @belialsmiracles, 66k (Harry/Louis). LISTEN, I WILL NEVER, EVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS FIC, I can only hope the author will bless us with a timestamp or something else entirely, it’s so beautifully done, it makes you think of nothing else for days, it RUINS you for other fic (I highly rec the author’s other work, too). You’ll never look at Tokyo Harry the same way again (or listen to “She” or “Fine Line” without getting more than a little misty). GOLD STAR!
