I've been thinking about this moment in Bonds a lot.

Because it's the moment, I think, that is the purest of intention, from Daryl's part, during this whole sequence. I know you beautiful Carylers have already been over this with a fine tooth comb, but I gotta play all the broken records. Daryl's not trying to look into her bag, to find the gun (not yet), he's not trying to find out what she's really doing. He's not worried about her, as a friend (who is in love with her), or whatever. He's just told her that it's not like that with Connie and he is very clear about this. He needs Carol to know exactly how clear he is about this. His eye contact could not be more deliberate. And he's not disappointed about it, he's not longing for someone else, he's not trying to change the subject, embarassed, he's not trying to brush her off.

He looks at her with the same stillness (as per MM's recount) and intensity that he does when he tells her that he loves her.

And that long sigh. Good lord that says, Carol you don't understand. He gazes hopefully in her direction when she tells him he doesn't have to be alone. But then she's talking about someone else again, and her dog, and Daryl looks back at Carol, considering this, before knocking the can over, properly this time. He tried.

Also, he has just checked in with Ezekiel in the previous episode, "You gonna ask about Carol?" To which Ezekiel responded, "Nah," and shook his head, and walked away.

Daryl will always ask about Carol.

So he knows the timing is so close to being right for them. It is for Daryl. But he also knows Carol's not at peace, and that holds him back. And so he's just basically begging her to see him. He wants so badly to be enough for her. Through that whole season.

After this, he whacks Carol on the leg. Exuberantly. Even though she's sitting right next to him. He says "Hey." I could obsess over his need to touch her like that.

The force of his gesture reminds me of this:

And Carol's hand immediately goes out to touch herself, where he bumped her leg.

My take on what’s been going on with the fandom regarding Melissa McBride. This will get me blocks I’m sure but you have to be careful who you trust. Listen to people but don’t think they are god. Even actors and showrunners have been known to embellish the truth. I do not believe for a second Melissa is being overrun and underminded. She already left the spinoff once and a lot was put in to getting her back on board. That’s not something AMC or Norman/Scott is going to jeopardize again. A lot of talk is going around about a pro Caryl showrunner and rumors of how the men are trying to block that from happening. For one if AMC wanted them they’ll sign them. They have the power over Scott. Another thing is they are not going to refuse to hire someone over their taste in ships. These are professional people who have done this job before.

Keep in mind about who you are getting the information from. If they use the line “you don’t have to believe me” chances are they aren’t being forthcoming. If they become aggressive when you don’t believe them chances are they aren’t being honest. This seems more about a fandom power play then it does as warning to Carylers to make a movement to AMC.

I’ve seen so much division in the Caryl fandom throughout several platforms. And it’s to much competition that often times makes it unbearable. There’s a few “leaders” who are constantly at odds with each other and fight for their place at fandom Queen. It’s childish and mean girl behavior.

FYI a true leader is someone who uplifts everyone regardless of how they feel about you. Not a dictatorship which some of you are guilty of. I’ve seen you guys shut down people and try to push them out of the fandom for having the same opinion earlier that you have now. So maybe think on that before you judge next time. None of us are ever 100 percent right all the time.

Some of you really need to let that high school mantra go. I don’t believe the ones being the loudest have any true connection to higher ups at AMC or the DD/BOC show. And I don’t believe Melissa is being strongholded. She is an EP and has a say in Carol’s story. AMC official accounts are using the Caryl hashtag. There’s a lot to look forward to. She’s been a part of the show from day one giving input and helping on and off screen even before she was an EP. Melissa was a huge part of season one even without the title. Actors have always raved about how she’s made them better and the same holds true with this show. So you all need to relax. Melissa is valued.

I can tell you this with certainty the one claiming to have this insider information is the same person who would dm a wide range of accounts that seemed to have information and beg them for whatever information they could. And when she got information she refused to share any. Which is what they are doing now. Talking about a female show runner but will not name names. Put your money where your mouth is if you think you have accurate information. And I will tell you this stalking and dming crew members or production members for a tid bit of information is not a source. It’s borderline harassment. You know who you are.

Now in closing this person also claimed that if Carylers were loud enough to AMC that the spinoff would not happen. Yes they were going to waste all that money or sets and contracts. Melissa was also already there when they were trying to make this movement lol. Stop acting like they are the Buddha to the Caryl fandom like you have no common sense and can’t function without them. There are many strong Caryl fans who don’t spread misery on a daily basis you can talk to. To calm your fears or just to talk about happier things to look forward to. These so called leaders seek out emotional people that they can control who are looking for guidance. This was once the greatest fandom in the land and could be again if we would break ties with the ones holding us down. So just think about that before being sucked down with the rest. Great things are coming. I promise you that.

Yes, I was bored enough to map out Daryl’s trek through France. I really just wanted a rough timeline. It’s 19 days by foot. It took him 5 days just to get to Lourdes. I think time for side quests probably balances out time spent on the boat/car/buggy. So he spent about 14 days with Laurent & Izzy.

If you honestly think Daryl Dixon is making heart eyes at a woman he’s known 14 days…You don’t know Daryl’s character at all.

Got swept up by some mist that doesn't exist, except between us. We were close, so close, our hearts alignin' an' I'd a'never known it was too much for me then, if we were only friends, if my hands hadn'ta stopped working like my breath in that moment. And we both know, back then, I ain't had the sense in women enough to think for a second 'bout what I could be startin'.

So when you smiled that way, your little tease and said those things, I was already flakin' an' backtrailin', thinkin' mistakes were ahead a'me. 'Cause I didn't want you to see that in me. 'Cause I'd never felt quite that way an' I couldn't understand it for the life o'me. S'why I was so quick to protest, believed you were jokin' when you said what you said. And why I put up that wall and we laughed and my knees quaked with intensity.

If we were only friends, you wouldn'a

leaned that way against my cell for me, when I came back. I feel that now, seen it time and again, others couplin' up around us, that way they move in the beginnin', like you did. Still, I could be imaginin', was just a sliver of a momen'. Was oblivious then, why you did it. Just saw it. You pushin' yourself, your ... yourself forward, like that, for me. It's the only indication, unspoken, of a spark you wanted somethin' more, that I've ever seen.

Noticed it though, locked it away with the good memories. Why else would I 'ave

driven myself into you? That same way you arched to me, like I'd wanted to, for so damn long, to find some chance to meet you like that, in that way. If we were only soulmates without any other needs?

And we were so damn close to startin' somethin', 'fore you were sent away. All this time and events but still, we never got back what never was, and shoulda been. Was never the same with us for such a long time, tryin' a find you again

with things happenin' the way they did, you runnin', an' me railin' against the wind, tryin' to square up wrongdoin's.

And when that stopped for awhile, I'd lost almost everythin'. Would I 'ave even gone away if what you did hadn't hurt? Not your fault, you was just livin'.

But if what we had was enough, nothin' more'an solidarity? Would I a'stayed away so long? 'Cause that hurt, too, to see you bein' another you, see you finally bein' all the things you needed to, havin' things I couldn't give you, 'cause I didn't know how to.

Would you 'ave tried so hard to push me away, set me up, settle me down with someone who didn't carry the baggage we had, who didn't doubt themselves and every scratch o'hope we'd gathered in the before times, that still haunt the sleepless hours.

This ain't platonic Carol, ain't no cheap romance neither from the dollar bin, not like them ones you been readin'.

It's fuckin' special what we have, and I want more.

And I'll love you with my dyin' breath, and after, the way Rick said, as walkin' dead, even though we ain't them, not yet, not close. There's more. Will always be more.
