Obviously plenty of issues with wicca but one thing I just don't understand is why they had to drag us into it? There are alternative english, non gaelic, holidays celebrated around those times if they were so set on the dates.
The fact that English people, who literally lived through Irelands war of independence decided they were going to slap gaelic names on their neo religion is so fucking tiring. Can they not just leave us alone for a minute.
And I understand that the mixing of 'druidism' and wicca in early stages had an impact, Nichols specifically and it wasn't until later wiccans realised Gardner had lied about the entire foundations of his religion.
(Any supposed "Scottish" past of these people is blatant Highlandism, that justifies nothing btw)
But to this day people are uncritically using the words imbolc, bealtaine, lughnasadh and samhain in a wicca context with no regard for the fact that people just stole from a culture their country had tried to decimate. Is there no thought into the appropriateness of the use of these holidays?
Lá Bealtaine, Lá Lúnasa and Oíche Shamhna were all still celebrated at this point too? While imbolc is presumably subsumed into Brigids day. There were real living people celebrating (and still celebrate) these holidays, they weren't for random English people to take and twist into a god and goddess sex metaphor.
I have personally never heard of people today trying to do something about this but I also would not frequent IRL wicca spaces. So those more in the know, is there any push or discussion about this?

You probably should’ve been a little self conscious about the literal bite mark on your shoulder, but instead you wore it like some sort of badge of honour, along with a strappy sundress to show it off for all to see. You thought it was lovely in a macabre sort of way. The bite was on the cap of your shoulder, and it was blooming purple and blue, the colours looking remarkably striking against your skin and the yellow of your dress.
It was extremely obvious who had given it to you, and you relished in how Bob’s friends reacted upon seeing it. Jake had glanced from you to Bob, surprise on his features before turning back to his game of pool, Natasha had given an approving nod as she handed you a beer, and Bradley had looked away quickly before his stare became too obvious, then moving toward Bob and giving him a pat on the back.
Bob, who seemed so unassuming, did not seem the type to gnaw on his girlfriend, and leave her with remnants of their trysts. But the rest of the Dagger Squad were learning, perhaps much to their surprise, that Bob contained multitudes.
And who was having a very difficult time focusing on anything because his gaze kept drifting toward you, that look in his eyes that made you weak in the knees. He wanted something, and he wanted you. Giving you the occasional kiss on the cheek, or squeezing you around the waist wasn’t enough.
You excused yourself from the group to go to the washroom for the first time that evening, fully intending to only be gone for a few minutes.
Bob had alternate plans.
You were standing at the counter, having finished washing your hands, and were applying a tiny bit more lipstick when the door opened. You didn’t bother looking over and acknowledging at first, but the presence moving behind you commanded your attention.
“Bob!” you said, a little startled. “You know you’re in the ladies room, right?”
“Gender is a social construct,” Bob said in a matter of fact voice, resting his chin on your shoulder, the non-bitten one. He met your gaze in the mirror. “Also, you’re making me lose my entire mind out there.”
“What am I doing?” you asked, looking at Bob in the mirror. You honestly had no idea.
“Wearing this little dress,” he murmured, dropping his head and inhaling the scent of you. The feeling of his nose pressed along your neck had you sighing. “Parading around with my love bite on display.”
“Do you not like that people can see it?” you asked as Bob placed his hands on your hips, gently pressing himself against your ass.
“I love that people can see it. Know that you belong to me,” Bob replied. “It’s just … doing things to me, darlin’. I want to throw you down onto that pool table, make everyone watch as I push your dress up, fuck you until you’re screaming, get your pussy juices all over my cock.”
“Oh my god,” you murmured, bringing your thighs together tightly and closing your eyes. Bob never struck you as an exhibitionist, but you were learning a lot about him since you’d started sleeping together. Things like he could be bitey, and wanted to fuck you in a room full of people.
Bob pressed his hips against your ass, and you could feel his growing length through his jeans. Your heart was racing, someone could walk into the bathroom at any moment. The idea that someone might catch you thrilled you a little more than you thought it might.
Grabbing your throat, just under your chin, he lifted your head, forcing you to watch in the mirror as his tongue moved along the bite mark. You shuddered against him, your hands resting against the bathroom counter, pushing your ass back against his crotch.
You were trapped between his weight and the counter, there was nowhere for you to go.
It was at that moment that the roll of Bob’s hips stuttered against you, and he groaned into your shoulder. He’d finally realized something that you’d been waiting for him to figure out all night.
“You’re not wearing underwear?” he groaned, one of his hands moving just under your belly. “Shit. You’re torturing me, darlin’. Gonna soak the front of my jeans.”
He was still holding your chin, but his index finger made its way into your mouth. You gasped, sliding your tongue against the calloused pad of his finger, nibbling on it slowly.
“So take them off, Bobby.”
“Fuck.”
You kept your gaze focused on him in the mirror, watching as he undid his belt and pulled down the zipper of his jeans one handed, not relinquishing the hold he had on your throat. You groaned softly, seeing a flash of his cock head in the mirror. Fuck, you looked so wrecked already, and Bob looked like he was going to tear you apart.
Bob pushed the fabric of your dress up over your ass, and groaned as he looked down, giving it a very enthusiastic squeeze.
“You’re such a tease, baby,” Bob groaned, grabbing his cock and sliding it against your wet lips. You made a strangled noise, biting back something much louder lest someone outside hear you over the music. Bob continued to drag his cock through the wetness that had collected at your core, even when you pushed back against him. “You’ve spent the whole night teasing me. It’s my turn.”
“God damn it, Bobby,” you whined, your hand clenching into a fist and slamming against the counter.
You rolled your hips, grinding against his thick cock, desperate to get it inside of you. Bob was looking down, watching you move against him, and you watched in the mirror as his glasses began to fall down this nose, the damp strands of hair curling over his forehead.
“You want it bad, don’t you, darlin’?” he asked, lifting his head and making eye contact with you in the mirror again.
“Yes, Bobby,” you breathed, and he clutched at your throat a little harder. You gasped and tried to squeeze your legs together.
“No,” Bob scolded. “Keep your legs open for me.”
“Bobby.”
“Slut,” Bob gasped, and you watched the flush begin to spread against his cheeks. He only ever called you that when he was already too far gone. “You’re my little cock slut, aren’t you?”
“Yes!” you replied in a harsh whisper. “Bob, please -”
You felt him enter you and you let out a relieved sigh, eyelids closing for a moment. You were expecting him to keep going, but all he pressed inside of you was the tip of his cock, before pulling it out and doing it all over again. You whined, a pathetic sounding noise that reverberated off the walls of The Hard Deck’s ladies room, and leaned forward on the counter, pushing back, chasing his cock.
“Give it - give it to me,” you whined. “Please.”
Bob wrapped his free hand around his cock, and pushed it back inside, again, just the tip. You ground against the curl of his fingers, clit moving against the class ring that he wore. And again, he pulled it out.
“Bobby, I’ll scream so loud the whole bar will hear,” you threatened.
He grabbed you, pulling you back flush against him, squeezing your throat so hard that the blunt edges of his fingernails cut into your skin. You made a startled, delighted, almost frightened sound, and grabbed onto his side to steady yourself. You loved when he got like this.
“Do it,” Bob grunted against your ear. “Let them know how badly you want it. Little cock slut.”
He held you tight against him, and searched for your entrance once more with the head of his cock. Bob slammed his cock inside of you, and though you had threatened to scream, no sound came out when you parted your lips.
“Take it. Take it,” Bob groaned, biting at the column of your throat. “Take that dick, darlin’.”
You cried out as he manhandled you, pushing you forward, bending you over the counter. He grabbed one of your legs, behind the knee, and pushed it onto the counter as well, opening you up more for him. You glanced up to look in the mirror once more, unable to take your eyes off of him, watching as he tipped his head back, moaning to the ceiling as he slammed into you again and again.
“Fuck,” you whined, writhing against the counter, not knowing when the last time it was cleaned might be. Not caring. You tried to meet Bob’s thrusts, but there was no way that you could, each snap forward of his hips stuttering against you.
“Is this what you - what you wanted?” Bob panted, his fingers sinking into the supple flesh of your hips. “Huh? To take my dick in that tight little pussy where someone could walk in and see you? See you acting like the slut you are?”
You cried out softly, worming a hand between yourself and the counter, needing some manner of relief. Bob saw what you were doing, and reached for your wrist, pulling your hand away and holding it against the counter. He changed the angle of his thrusts so that the base of his cock hit your clit - again and again and again.
“Bobby,” you keened, feeling tears prick at the corners of your eyes. It was too good, and you were desperate to chase each feeling he gave you, that washed over you.
“Come on my cock,” Bob rasped, leaning over and pressing his lips against your ear. His tongue darted out to lick at the shell of it, before he pulled the lobe gently into his mouth with his teeth. “I - I wanna feel you all over me. Come on it, darlin’. Come on me.”
You slammed your open palm against the counter, crying out as softly as you could, though you were certain that someone would hear you. Your orgasm came in waves, leaving you shuddering and twitching against Bob as you gave him just what he had asked for.
Bob fucked you through your orgasm, your name a mantra on his lips that he cried out toward the ceiling as he came. You clenched around him, wanting to draw every drop he could give you deep inside. He grunted one last time and then leaned over you, letting out a long, shuddering breath.
“Oh fuck.”
The two of you stood there, sprawled out over the counter as you fought to catch your breath. Bob pushed your hair aside and gently kissed your neck, nuzzling at you with his nose.
“You okay, sweetheart?” he whispered.
You nodded, letting out a contented sigh. “Yeah. I - wow.”
The two of you mournfully pulled apart, standing on the legs of newborn deer as opposed to your own, helping each other get cleaned up. You helped Bob readjust his glasses, and he got some damp paper towel to clean you up. The entire time you traded tender kisses and gentle touches, giggling about what you had just done. It was not like either of you, and it thrilled you both.
“I’ll make sure the coast is clear,” you said, pressing a gentle kiss to Bob’s chin before making your way to the door.
Poking your head outside you spotted a wet floor sign in front of the door, and Bradley standing not too far away, more or less pacing back and forth.
“Rooster,” you began, stepping out of the bathroom, and Bob followed closely behind. “What the fuck?”
Bradley whirled around and let out an exasperated, “Finally! Nat thought something might be up so she went to check on you. Came back and told us we should take turns making sure no one else went in there until you came out.”
Bob turned a shade of red you hadn’t seen before, and you bit your lip to keep from laughing.
“Oops,” you said, reaching for Bob’s hand and lacing your fingers together.
“Who’s idea was the wet floor sign?” Bob asked, gesturing to the sign near the door.
“Seresin’s.”
“Of course it was.”
You laughed, pulling Bob a little closer to you as the three of you made your way back to the rest of the group. No one said a damn thing, and new beers were fetched for you and Bob.
The night out had continued, though at one point while Bob was playing pool with Javy you pulled out your phone to text him.
Baby I can feel your come running down my leg.
You watched as Bob reached into his pocket and pulled his phone out. He looked at the screen, eyebrows shooting up to his hairline, before he began furiously texting you back.
Call a cab. If we don’t get u home ASAP im gonna lick your cunt in front of everyone.
/end.

Acknowledgments: Inspired by Vampire (Olivia Rodrigo) and Control (Halsey), and the lovely @sanccharine mishaps gone right series. 🫶 ty for reading this fic ahead of time, and I apologize for any future transgressions in relation to a sequel. ;)

Tumblr media
“Vampires suck.”
“Yeah, well, no shit,” Yoohyeon sighs before throwing her flashcards against the table, “how am I supposed to pass this exam with basic information like that?”
You sit across from the table in a private study booth on the second floor of the campus library. Yoohyeon, your best friend since high school, is studying for her first Vampiric History exam as you are trying, and horribly failing, to focus on your homework for Applied Mathematics For Sorcery.
Your focus falls back to the screen as your phone displays a bright collection of images from someone you followed. Her smile is bright and immortal, given the sharp front teeth that are proudly bared, but that’s not what you’re focused on.
The fourth picture, since you had dared to scroll that far, was the same vampire locking lips with another vampire from a different coven.
The problem was that you had forgotten to block all of your ex-girlfriend’s friends on all social media, and you were currently staring at a picture of SuA kissing someone else two months after you broke up.
You carelessly toss your phone on the table, forgetting to lock the screen, as Yoohyeon curiously eyes your phone.
“Don’t tell me you’re-“
“-She cheated on me, Yooh. How am I supposed to forgive her?”
“You didn’t, and you walked away from her,” She digs in her backpack, presumably for a snack, “as you should have.”
“Is it okay to not be over her?”
“Hey, don’t beat yourself up,” Yoohyeon tosses a granola bar across the table for you before opening hers, “it’s her loss. You’re the coolest person I know.”
A light smile rests on her face - Yoohyeon always knew how to make you feel better.
“Thanks, Yooh,” You say as you grab the granola bar on the table, “do you have any clue how to solve geometry in relation to spell casting?”
“No, so we’re going to go ask Dami for help.”
You shrug before closing your computer and beginning to pack your stuff up.
“Works for me.”
~
“Dami-ah!” Yoohyeon pounds on the dormitory door as you pull your backpack over your shoulder.
Your mind wanders back to the photos you saw earlier as Minji, SuA, and Siyeon partied together as if you all weren’t close a few months ago.
As if it wasn’t your fault that your friend group was split in two.
“Dami, answer the damn door before Yoohyeon breaks it down!” Handong calls from the inside as Yoohyeon continues to rap her knuckles against the door.
“I got it!” Gahyeon yells before the door opens. “You guys could have called-“
“I know, but we wanted to surprise you-“
“-You need help with your homework?”
“We do.” You mumble in defeat as Gahyeon gives you a quick hug.
“It’s good to see you, y’know?” She rubs your shoulder before giving you a reassuring look. “You’re more than welcome here at any time, okay?”
“Thank, Gahyeon,” You pause as you let out a deep breath, “I needed a distraction.”
“You saw Bora’s post, didn’t you?” Gahyeon rolls her eyes before closing the door behind you and
Yoohyeon. “We should throw a party, or like a mixer! It would be so much better than what she did.”
“As long as it’s not in this dorm room, I’m down with the idea.” Handong adds in as she is perched on the top bunk of the bunk bed.
Gahyeon crashes on the bunk below Handong as Yoohyeon hops on the bed on the other side of the room.
“Dongie, have you started studying for that exam yet?” Yoohyeon asks as she pulls out her notecards.
“A bit. Do you want to study together?”
“Please help me.” Yoohyeon sets her backpack on the bed as you set your stuff on the bed next to hers.
Your eyes turn to the desk next to the bunk bed where Dami is studying for one of her more advanced classes.
“Do you need help with math?” She asks while doing a computation on her phone.
“I could use help for Applied Mathematics in Sorcery from my favorite sorceress.” You teasingly say as you grab some materials from your backpack.
Dami raises one hand up, and without breaking attention from her studies, she pulls another chair up to the desk.
“Thanks for that,” You set down your notebook, pencil, and computer, “and I apologize in advance because you’re going to need to re-explain this entire chapter to me.”
~
“Why does everything you say make more sense than whatever the professor was going on in class?” You sigh in relief as you submit a perfect homework assignment online.
“You’re welcome. I’m happy to help with anything.” Dami takes care to emphasize the last word as your phone buzzes.
“I’m sorry,” You pause for a moment to grab your phone from the table, “let me look at this before we change subjects.”
You open up the notification that takes you straight to your text messages.
Unknown Number: Jagi, I’m sorry that I hurt you so much.
Babe, why won’t you answer my texts? I know you blocked me but I missed up.
*Messed ypu.
Fuck, I just miss you, and I’m not sorry about it.
“Who is it?” Yoohyeon peeks over the top of the bunk bed as you toss your phone to her.
Dongie manages to catch it before Yoohyeon’s face does, and they gasp in sync with one another.
“She did not-“
“Oh, she did,” Yoohyeon looks at the alarm clock with a chuckle, “and she’s already drunk before nine o’clock.”
A hand on your right arm pulls you back to Dami, who looks at you with confusion and concern mixed together in her gaze.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m just tired of the constant reminders that I wasn’t enough for her. It makes me wonder if I’ll ever truly be over her, or if I’m just going to miss her for the rest of my life.” You quietly admit as Gahyeon snatches your phone out of Dongie’s grasp.
“What are you-“
“-That’s it! I’ve had enough of them,” Gahyeon spits out before grabbing her phone, “and we’re going to do something about it. Everyone, clear your schedules on October 30th. We’re throwing the best party that this campus has ever seen!”
Gahyeon hands you back your phone, and you quickly shove it in your pocket as she starts typing on her phone.
“This is great and all, Gahyeon,” Handong climbs down the bunkbed to grab something from the mini fridge, “but I’m only okay with this plan if they are.”
Dongie’s eyes meet yours as she quickly places a reassuring hand on your shoulder before bending to grab a drink from the mini fridge next to you.
“I think it’ll be fun, especially with Gahyeon planning it.” You gently move Handong’s hand from your shoulder as you nod at Gahyeon. “Just let me know what I need to bring, okay?”
Gahyeon cheerfully pumps her free hand in the air as the other girls laugh at her antics.
“Okay, Yooh and Dongie, since you’ve got the most experience with party planning, I’ll need you to-“
Your eyes go back to Dami, who wistfully stares at the girls in front of her.
“You don’t have to go, y’know?” You take her hand on your arm and interlace your fingers with hers as you set your hands on the table, “I wouldn’t want you to feel uncomfortable just for my sake.”
“I don’t mind, I promise. I just don’t like going to parties that-“ She pauses until you nod at her for permission, “Bora and Siyeon used to drag me to.”
“If Gahyeon gets too out of hand, Dongie will reel her back in. I want this to be something fun for all of us, a moment to stop worrying about school for a night.”
“Are you sure that school is all that’s on your mind?” Her eyes dare to read within your mind, and despite the turbulence within your heart, you find yourself at peace when discussing such matters with Dami.
“I don’t know if I miss SuA anymore, or if I just miss having someone to tell every silly little thing to.” You confess.
“You know I’m always available to talk to you, no matter the hour or day, right?” She asks as you nod, “As for the other matter, why not put yourself out there again? Just go on a less formal date, something low-commitment, to see if you want to go back into the realm of dating.”
There’s a spark of expectation and hopefulness in her as her eyes linger on your intertwined hands for a moment, but her gaze quickly returns back to you as you open your mouth.
I wonder what that was about…
“For someone who doesn’t do a lot of dating, you have awfully good dating advice,” You tease as a small blush crosses her face, “and that’s not a bad idea. I think it would be good to put myself out there again, just
as a test.”
~
Dates were something of a new area for you, as most of your dates with SuA included staying home and studying or going out with friends and partying. You were also around a group, so you had the comfort of a friend to look at for.
Here, in the coffee shop, it was just you, the coffee cup you were holding on to for dear life, and a cute elven girl named Chou Tzuyu.
“How are you finding your studies?” She asks before tucking a small piece of hair behind her ear.
You were, to say the least, mesmerized by her beauty, so you cough and shyly look away when you notice that she is speaking to you.
“They’re going well, but having an individualized major instead of a set path of study can be stressful at times.” You admit as you recall your struggles with math earlier in the week. “Math has been a struggle for me, but I have a friend who is bright like you.”
“I’m not the only one you get answers from?” She raises an eyebrow at you as you scoff.
“I can do the homework for my humanity-focused classes, but these sorcery classes are kicking my ass.”
You roll your eyes as you think of the pile of math homework awaiting you. “I’m thankful for your help with the history classes, you are a lifesaver.”
“You’re helping me practice teaching when I go for advanced studies at the university, so I am thankful for you as well.”
You take a small sip from your cup as your thoughts wander again.
This is going okay, and she’s really pretty, but I’m not feeling anything special like I did with-
“Why did you ask me on a date?” Tzuyu directly asks as your heart sinks in your chest.
Oh no, she’s going to think this is a rebound and I’m going to lose another friend after everything-
“You don’t have to tell me, though,” She gently grabs your hand before you squeeze your coffee cup past its
breaking point, “but I think there’s someone else you’d rather be here with, no?”
“Huh?” Your eyebrows jump to the top of your forehead as an amused smile dances across her features.
“Oh, you didn’t know that she…” Tzuyu trails off before shaking her head. “It’s not my business, though. You’ve got a great group of friends behind you.”
“Does that still include you?”
“Of course, who else will help you with your history classes?”
You smile before taking another sip from your coffee cup.
Maybe this ‘date’ wasn’t a total failure.
~
You slip through the large crowd of people who have collected in the living room of Gahyeon’s friend’s house. She was out of town for a couple of weeks, right around Halloween, so Gahyeon got permission to do so. The only caveat was that the five of you had to clean up and stay the night to make sure the house was taken care of, but Gahyeon roped everyone into it without much worry.
Without a red solo cup in your hand, you do stand out, but Gahyeon committed to having a dry party that could still be fun without excessive drinking. You had to hand it to her - the set up of the party and the house allowed for all sorts of activities for all sorts of people.
You were in charge of food, so after grabbing another food tray for the spare bedroom, you were trying to make it through the crowd in one piece. While batting stray hands and partiers away, you offer a quick wave to Tzuyu, who stands in the corner by herself.
She joins your side once you break from the crowd, and you make a sharp left as she follows your pace.
“The party’s great.” She says as you knock on the bedroom door.
“You should be thanking Gahyeon. This is all her idea, I just showed up with a few food trays.” You push any praise to Gahyeon, who opens the door with a large smile.
“Thank you!” She snatches the tray from your hands as Tzuyu leans on the doorframe. “You both are welcome to come in - we’ve got plenty of board games to spare!”
“I thought you would’ve been out with the music and partiers, Gahyeon.” You step inside the room before looking back at Tzuyu. “You want in?”
“I think I’ll head back to the living room. Dahyun said she’s challenging someone to a dance-off, and I have money riding on her winning it, so I need to make sure my investment was worth it.”
You laugh to yourself before waving her off.
“Have fun with that, Tzuyu.”
She nods before disappearing back into the hallway.
You turn to look at Gahyeon, who admires you with wide eyes.
“So…?”
“There’s nothing between us, I promise,” You grab a piece of cheese from the tray and toss it in your mouth,
“but it was nice to try to go on a date. I’ve been missing that sort of connection in my life.”
“That’s good-“
“Ah, Yoohyeon, the point of the game is to avoid my property-“ Dongie teases Yoohyeon from the left side of the bed as Yoohyeon folds her arms and huffs.
“Yah, you’re so mean to me!”
“Pay up,” Handong holds out her hand for money, and Yoohyeon reluctantly places the cash in her hand, “now, was that so hard?”
“I don’t like this game,” Yooh pouts before her eyes land on you, “c’mon, we should play a new game so all of us can play together.”
“The five of us can play Monopoly-“ Dami chimes in as Gahyeon sets the tray down on the nightstand.
“-Let’s just play Mario Kart before Yoohyeon owes Handong real money.” You settle the argument by turning
on the Switch as Yoohyeon cheers.
“See, I knew you’d have my back!”
~
Gahyeon and Handong are perched on the bed as you and Yoohyeon sit against the front of the bed. Dami moved her chair closer to the TV so the five of you can play together.
Most of the freeloading partiers have gone home, so there’s no need for the five of you to take shifts to manage the crowd. The only people left are friends of friends who are raiding the last of the snacks and drinks before heading out of the door.
“That was a really successful party, Gahyeon,” You say as the winning animation plays on the screen, “and it looks like everyone who came had a great time.”
Gahyeon smiles brightly before excitedly pulling out her phone.
“I bet the whole party is all over everyone’s socials,” She taps her screen a few times before her eyes widen, “oh shit!”
Your head snaps back, along with Yoohyeon’s, at her exclamation.
Dongie leans over to look at Gahyeon’s phone, and she has a remorseful look on her face.
“Minji was here.”
“Minji was here?” You and Dami say at the same time as Yoohyeon immediately stands up.
“I’m going to go out and chase everyone else off… just in case we have any lurkers.” Malice slips into the last word she speaks as Yoohyeon quickly exits the room.
You want to offer to help, but you don’t think you can face her after everything that has happened with Bora.
“It’s not your fault, you know,” Dami slides off her chair before sitting next to you, “we chose to stand by you when everything happened.”
“You all were friends long before Bora and I got together, and I-“ You pause as tears threaten to fall from your face, “I ruined everything.”
“You ruined nothing,” Dongie reaches towards you and rubs your back for a moment before looking at the phone again, “but I learned that some of my friends weren’t who I thought they were.”
“If I had known…” Gahyeon wistfully says before putting her phone aside, “If I had known that SuA had cheated on you, I would’ve told you right away. The worst part about everything wasn’t hearing it from you - no, we heard it directly from her, and she was proud of what she did.”
Gahyeon sniffles before the waterworks come out, and you find yourself wiping away tears as Handong wraps an arm around her.
“It’s not your fault,” Dami repeats as you lay your head on her shoulder, “I would choose you a thousand times over. I think about how everything played out, sometimes, when I go to sleep, but I don’t regret anything. I met one of the best people in my life after everything that happened, and I couldn’t be more thankful.”
“Minji and Siyeon chose their sides, as we chose ours,” Handong reassures you while holding on to Gahyeon, “and I don’t miss the drama, the fights, and the black-out parties.”
You laugh as you wipe away more tears.
“Those parties were awful,” You reminisce as a memory comes to mind, “I remember having to nearly carry SuA home because she was drunk past the point of walking straight.”
“Forget walking - Siyeon tried to kiss me!” Handong exclaims as you laugh alongside her.
“I do miss them, sometimes,” You softly admit while playing with your shirt sleeve, “and I wonder if things had played out differently, if we’d still be friends.”
“I think those ‘what-ifs’ are better left alone, at least for tonight,” Dami gently wraps her arm around your shoulder as you lean into her body more, “we’ve got plenty of work ahead of us.”

“Babe, c’mon! Pictures are fun.” SuA tugged on your sleeve as you fixed your hair in the reflection of your phone screen.
“I don’t look my best, and you always look so much better than I do.” You pull your sleeve away from her before putting your phone away.
“At least you can see what you look like!” SuA yells before stomping off to go meet with the campus photographer.
Confusion mixed with anxiety makes an unholy cocktail, one that’s worse than whatever is in the red solo cup in your hand. You toss the drink to the side of the yard before throwing the cup away as the thought of SuA’s recent uptick in outbursts gnaws at your mind.
Was it you? Did you say something wrong? Your hair and outfit really was a mess from dancing at a crowded party, and you weren’t in the mood to get photographed. Was that such a grievance in your mind?
You probably struck a bad nerve by looking at your phone, considering her lack of reflection, so it would be best if you apologized so you could move on. You wonder how many more times she’ll run off before you stop chasing her.
You shake off the thought, she’s probably just stressed from midterm exams. You push through the crowd of people in the backyard as you head inside the frat house. Before you lost sight of her, she had been heading to the living room to see the photographer that wanted to take a picture of “the happy couple”.
Only if they knew.
You break through the crowd once you’re inside, and a quick glance to the left tells you that you’re not getting through the line of people waiting to use the restroom. You turn to the right, and are met with a frightening display in the living room.
Your girlfriend, the girl you adored from the moment you met her, had her hands and lips all over someone else.
Part of your heart, part of your innocence, and part of your joy shriveled up and died in that moment, but not just because of SuA.
It was watching two of your older friends, the two people you trusted most, watch the scene in front of them unfold as if nothing was wrong. You didn’t scream or cry, not right away. You simply turned back around, pushed through the crowd of people with more force than before, and got a ride home.
A simple text saying “We’re done” and a few blocked phone numbers and social media accounts were enough justice for you, but the world is a karmic bitch who likes to have the last laugh. Before you blocked SuA, she had posted a video of the scene you had just witnessed, with one simple caption:
“For you, my dear.”
In a sweat, you pull the blanket off of you and sit up on the air mattress. Gahyeon sleeps peacefully to your left (the girls played rock-paper-scissors for the spot and she won), and Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting over the covers on the bed in their sleep.
After rubbing your eyes and grabbing your phone, you glance over to the cot where Dami was sleeping, only to notice that she was no longer there.
Weird.
Turning on your phone, you blind yourself with the power of a thousand suns before looking at the time.
2:33 a.m., and I went to bed at 1:00 a.m. It’s going to be a long night.
Nightmares came and gone, but they were always supposed to be based in fantasy or fear, not reality.
Having the same scenario play out, over and over again, as if you can change anything that had happened, was maddening.
You would usually call one of your friends when you felt like this, but they were all sleeping peacefully, so you decided to look for the other person who would be awake at this hour. Dami was one of the first asleep most nights, so your calls and texts would go unanswered, but she was always the first to text or call you back if she missed your call.
She had always been a pillar of calm confidence, of self-assured belief in oneself, and you question what had brought you two together during orientation to the university. Perhaps you looked like a duckling who had lost sight of its mother, or perhaps she was just as lost as you. Either way, you had found one another and had been inseparable since.
Dami had been the one to introduce you to her friends, and you had gotten along especially well with SuA. Push comes to shove, one night’s confession turns to love, and the two of you were dating. If you were to be technical, everything that had happened so far was Dami’s fault, in a way.
Guilt buries itself in your consciousness as you shift blame from Dami to yourself. It wasn’t her fault that SuA had acted in such a way. The two of you were fundamentally different people - she liked parties and darkness and temporary pleasure, and you liked quiet afternoons and board game nights with friends and working towards a goal greater than yourself. What had drawn you to each other was tearing your relationship apart - you had nothing in common, but yet again, you had nothing in common.
You’re careful to not blind yourself as you check the time on your phone.
2:34 a.m.
You get out of bed, as quietly as possible, before gently opening the bedroom door. You notice that a light
has been left on towards the direction of the kitchen, so you head that way.
A creak in the floorboards underneath you causes you to pause, as if you’re some sort of horror protagonist. You can imagine how they’d jump and scream, but you were simply worried about waking your friends… right?
You walk much slower as the kitchen starts to come into view. A figure stands by the kitchen island while wringing off their hands with a towel.
“Dami?”
Their head snaps in your direction, and you sigh before slipping your phone in your pocket.
“I’m happy to see you because I can’t seem t-“
When you go into the kitchen, their face is revealed in the light, and a scream threatens to break from your lips.
A disheveled SuA stands in front of you, and she’s covered head-to-toe in blood splatters. When she smiles at you, blood leaks from her lips and drips onto the tile flooring.
As your mouth opens, SuA makes a quick maneuver towards you and pins you to the nearest wall.
“You know,” She gasps for air as she eyes your neck, “we could’ve done this the easy way while you were sleeping.”
“Fuck y-“
Her hand covers your mouth as she bares her teeth and plunges them into your neck. You scream into her mouth, but her strength is no match for yours. You’re sure a dagger in the neck would be more comfortable as she carelessly drinks from you.
You had imagined your death before, but it was nothing like this. You had to fight back, one way or another.
As your vision starts to soften due to blood loss, you scan your surroundings for something to help you. On a table within your grasp, you notice that a wooden spoon used for punch had been haphazardly left there without being cleaned up.
I hope no one can tell the difference between two red liquids…
You manage to grab the spoon before the strength in your body starts to give out. Color and brightness and darkness and nothingness swirl in your vision as you attempt to plunge the dagger into her heart.
The coldness of the floor meets your check, and survival instincts kick in as you slowly crawl away. Your vision dances with the cold lighting as you pull yourself towards the light. A strangled cry escapes you as something grabs onto your leg with crawls tearing into the flesh of your thigh.
You’ve lost your weapon, so you can only assume that it has made contact with SuA or did enough to scare her off. Your eyes adjust to the surroundings as your neck burns with the pain of a hundred bee stings. The grip on your leg loosens as you crawl towards what looks to be a phone.
You hope you can get to the phone before you pass out as a wave of nausea causes you to place your head on the floor.
“Did you hear that scream? I think someone next door had too much to drink-“ Gahyeon’s voice is the last thing you remember before your eyes shut permanently.
~
Heat soaks your body as your eyes open to a light being projected right into your eyes.
“I don’t know how much more I can do… the puncture wounds are too deep.”
A soft hand is placed against your neck as the light is pulled from directly above you to the side.
“You’re awake...” Dongie sits to your side as your head turns the opposite way to look at the rest of your surroundings.
“SuA… she-“
“Don’t worry about SuA, she’s dead.”
Your head snaps towards Handong as your breathing quickens.
“Dead-“
“Why would you say that? You’re going to kill them before they have a chance to make a proper recovery.”
Yoohyeon leans on Handong as you start to see more of what surrounds you.
You’ve been moved from the kitchen to the living room, but time has barely passed. The darkness outside starts to creep in as your vision slowly fades to black.
“We’re losing them-“ Handong cries out as someone else walks toward you.
“Dami!”
You push away the darkness as you immediately prop yourself up on your elbows. Handong supports your back with both of her hands as Yoohyeon places a washcloth against your neck.
“Don’t do that-“ Handong begins to scold you before
“It’s okay,” Dami raises her hand before sitting beside you, “we need them awake.”
“Is this going to work?” Yoohyeon softly asks as your eyes dance around, looking for another person.
“Gahyeon is out looking for Minji, Siyeon, and Tzuyu,” Dami calmly answers as you look back at her, “and I just need you to focus on staying awake. We’ll be okay as long as you’re okay.”
Dami reaches for a book as you focus on your breaths.
Do this one thing for them - it’s easy enough.
You fight against the numbness, the pain inside of you as Dami flips through the book with ease until her hand finds the right page.
“Are binding spells safe?” Yoohyeon asks as Handong scoffs.
“Not in the slightest, but they’re better than resurrection spells.” Handong rubs your back before looking back at Yoohyeon.
“Are you serious? We’re using untamed magic-“
“-Resurrection spells are untamed magic, binding spells are unreliable-“ Dami corrects as Yoohyeon raises her eyebrows in disbelief.
“-you have to be kidding me!”
Your head falls back as your resistance starts to fail.
“Dami, hurry up-“
“-I’ve got it.” Dami takes your spare hand and intertwines it with hers. “Do you trust me?”
“I always have,” You mutter as your eyelids flutter rapidly, “and I always will.”
She glances away for a moment before closing the book and tossing it aside.
Dami mutters something in a tongue unknown to you as a soft purple smoke surrounds the both of you.
“Get away-“ Handong backs off from you as you support yourself with your arms.
“They can’t-“ Yoohyeon argues for a moment before Handong drags her away from you.
The purple smoke grows closer and closer around the two of you until it disappears just as quickly as it
came.
Your resolve cracks and crumbles until nothing inside of you is left to fight.
I should have never introduced the two of you, this wouldn’t have happened if I was more careful-
Dami’s voice rings through your mind as her eyes pierce your soul.
It was never your fault, you answer her with your thoughts, and I’d do it all over again if it means I got to be close with you.
You’re out before your head hits the pillow, but not before a small tear runs down Dami’s cheek.

Say Hello
Cullen Family
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the battle for survival when everything changed for the Cullen’s family. Renesmee was on Jacob's back and Alice had shown Aro his future, who looked at the group before him in fascination and a hint of fear. Alice was showed someone who was like Renesmee and the Vloturi soon left to head back to Italy.
While everyone was hugging and celebrating they did not have to fight, no one noticed a little girl sitting in a tree. Apart from Renesmee.
When her parents had placed her feet back on the ground after they hugged her she ran off over to a tree, which caused some to look at her.
When everyone surrounded the bottom of the tree, Benjamin and Zafrina could notice that someone was there. Emmett pushed the tree down and the person hid behind Alice and Jasper while gripping onto his trouser leg. The others looked at them and both Alice and Jasper were shocked to see her. Alice spun around and bent down to her level.
"(Y/n) what are you doing here? Why aren't you with your dad?" Alice asked her and she just shook her head. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of paper handed to Alice, then hid her face in Jasper's legs.
Alice looked at the letter, up to Jasper then to Carlisle who nodded his head.
Dear Alice and Jasper,
I am sorry to have to send her to you on such short notice with everything your family/coven is going though, but after you had left I couldn't look after her without her mother. I would be grateful if you would look after her, as it seems she has taken quick a liking to you after you helped me bring her into the world.
The people in our coven won't want to look after her for two reasons. One being that she isn't of there blood and two because she is different from them. She is not just human or just vampire, but both.
Yours truly,
Carols Sipper.
When Alice had finished reading the letter and looked up, she saw Jasper holding (y/n) in his arms and she was hiding her face in his shoulder giggling at something he had said to her. She looked to Carlisle and he took the letter off of her and read it. He gave it to Esme who read it together with Rosalie and Emmett. Soon everyone had read it and they couldn't believe that she had been abandoned not only by her father, but her coven as well. Rosalie and Esme were the first to approach her as she seemed to be scared.
"Hey I'm Esme and this is Rosalie." Esme introduced herself and Rosalie and they got a little giggle and a small hello in return. Soon everyone had said hello.
Everyone was at the Cullen's house saying goodbye to their friends. As Jasper was saying goodbye to Peter and Charlotte, (y/n) was hiding behind his legs. She had said bye to them and before they left she had pulled them down to her height and kissed their cheeks, then hid behind Jasper again. They were shocked along with Jasper but said thank you and left. Jasper turned around and picked her up, which caused her to giggle, then made his way over to Alice. He stood next to her and they both awed at (y/n) as she reached out towards Alice. She put her small hand over where Alice's none beating heart was supposed to be and said...
"New mommy." Then pointed to Jasper and said "new daddy." After hid her face in Alice's neck smiling.
Both Alice and Jasper were shocked to hear that but none the less couldn't have been happier. They looked at each other and smiled then had said yes to her. Carlisle and Esme made there way over to them and said hello, again, to the new family member.
"So what's your last name going to be?" Esme had asked her, as out of all them (y/n) had warmed up to her the most, after moving her face away from Alice's neck with a smile on her face, she had said..
"Hale."
The end.

Different anon here! About your post about the owl house, just out of curiosity, how much do you think is forgivable due to how Disney screwed them over? I do agree, the arcs feel impatient and couldn’t dedicate the time to the middle of the arcs, but that’s also in part because of how Disney cut the show prematurely short and they were scrambling to tell the story.
No. Zero. Nada. Nothing. Jack Shit. How many more ways do I have to put this: The cancellation is NOT why the show has writing problems. The show has writing problems because the writers are bad storytellers who have no clue how to actually do plot. For just the most obvious, basic example, let's take the end of S1. Belos presents himself as the big bad. Eda, Lilith and King are almost killed because of him and Luz destroys the portal door to make sure his plans cannot come to fruition. By all means, the show is ready to start its story and Luz is ready to start facing off against the Emperor's Coven.
She won't until Hollow Mind. Now you might disagree with me on this because Shifting Tides has her face off against the Golden Guard, Escaping Palisman is Golden Guard and Kiki, Eclipse Lake is Kiki and you even have Terra showing up in Falls and Follies. What are the character's goals in those episodes? Hunter is a surprise villain in Shifting Tides while Luz was just looking for cash, in Hunting Palisman, the two literally had no clue about the other until Luz was accidentally abducted and fighting them is just saving the palisman, not standing up to the coven. In Eclipse Lake, the coven just happens to be here at the same time as Amity, Eda and King and in Falls and Follies, they aren't standing up to the coven... They're getting Eda's love interest back.
The idea of Belos being evil and of facing him AT ALL... Happens in Hollow Mind. And Luz brings it up right after Eda's old wild witch pal says no to fixing Luz's magical cloak. Which, you know... Has problems for WHY Luz is now deciding to yell in public about how evil Belos is.
Instead, that time is spent on Hunter, who really has a very minimal effect on the plot overall. Like... Besides giving screentime to Belos where we still aren't learning anything about him, his relevance is just very low. We also Lumity which NEVER has plot relevance and King gets a few episodes episodes but still not much despite easily being the most important character in hindsight as far as the plot goes. Raeda and angst about that is given at least half as much screentime though and the closest you can come to justifying that is the failed plan of the CATs.
If you REALLY need something not from S2, then just look at Amity. She was already 99% reformed by the time Adventure in the Elements happens, if not Lost in Language and those are her fourth and fifth major appearances. Worse yet, their treatment of Boscha and her friend group is effectively the EXACT same as how they treated Amity's parents. Just an obstacle to be blown aside for Lumity to happen. The flaws in how TOH is constructed from a basic level are there even in S1, it's just easier to ignore them because the show was willing to be fun back then.
None of this even gets into the Collector, who was explicitly chosen to be moved forward in their plans when the show was cancelled. Instead, you know... Not. Just not introducing a character you have NO TIME to do anything with.
Then there's the condemnation of S3's creative decisions. If they REALLY had a plan for all of this stuff, S3 should feel like it's constant payoffs without proper build up as they wrap up loose ends, deal with the threats that are unresolved, etc. like that. Instead, S3 is so desperate for ideas to fill its runtime that the finale starts with a 7 minute dream sequence that actively goes against the character arc, shit as it is, Luz went through during the time from Hollow Mind to Watching and Dreaming.
If the shortening could be used as a real excuse, you shouldn't have been able to cut 80% of S3... And lose nothing. TOH is not bad because of the shortening. It's bad because because the writers are bad storytellers. (Yes, this was technically asking about the arcs but I decided to focus on how they just wasted time in general, especially on characters or elements that didn't matter. I still stand by the idea that TOH either NEVER wanted to end or that it wanted five seasons to cram literally every idea it had into it. Shortening S3 doesn't change the flaws of either approach.

Correspondences, covens and blinds
Correspondences, Covens and Blinds
What no one is telling you about witchcraft and magic
This is going to be a long one, so I'm dropping in a read more cut off. It's also a bit of a test to see if longer content gets any attention.
To help with this tackling this topic, I'm going to step away from witchcraft for a moment and talk about old time Granny recipe battles.
Before the internet, women would exchange hand written family recipes. But then you'd be at someone's house and you'd hear their granny say to a friend "don't bother asking Edith for that coffee cake recipe. She's changing something so what I make doesn't taste as good."
Being young, you'd repeat this to your grandmother (Edith) who would say "Hmph, if she had any business being in the kitchen, she would know." Which you would learn absolved her from all guilt so she could go to church on Sunday feeling superior.
Later in life, you might discover this whole thing came down to who used butter and who used margarine in the recipe. Because if you had any business being in the kitchen, you should know.  Or you might realize Mammaw Edith never mentioned the ginger she mixed with her cinnamon powder. Because we'll, a good cook would have been able to taste it in the cake.
That, my dears, is what a witchcraft blind is. Go back several decades or more when people started making witchcraft spells and rituals public, there was a thought that went - but what if the wrong person gets hold of this?
The answer - create a blind by substituting or slightly changing something in the spell or ritual with the understanding that anyone who had undergone proper training would recognize the out-of-place item and adjust appropriately.
But surely these aren't happening now?
Well, let's consider one such blind that's gone mainstream and probably overtaken the original associations. You may even bump into it in your reading and be a bit confused. Question -  is the wand fire and blade air or is the wand air and blade fire. That first. The one we wall see and know. That was a blind. Older traditions often still use the original alignment - wand air, blade fire.  Newer use the blind - wand fire, blade air.  Reasons can be made to justify both and at this point, both work in ritual when you've got everyone's energy behind them. It's just that for group work, you need to decide going in what the tools are going to do.
But what about smaller things? Spells. Everyone shares those these days like Edith's coffee cake recipe. Well, there was an older book of spells where the author made liberal use of lavender (and other substitutions) as part of the spells. If the reader was been trained in classical correspondences, they'd know lavender didn't belong in that spell and what type of herb should be substituted. Rather like a grandmother who can taste  a recipe and know Edith also put ginger in that cake.
But Tea -  can't people have personal correspondences?
Yes, and most witches do. But this brings me to the covens and traditions (group work) part of the discussion.
When doing group work, it's important to have agreement on what your correspondences mean in order to pull the correct energy together. Think about that coffee cake. If we start with cinnamon but someone adds rosemary (after all we've been told it substitutes for any herb) and someone else throws in oregano because that works for them, we're going to end up with focaccia instead of coffee cake. Perhaps delicious, but not what we were aiming for. We all need to follow the same recipe when working together.
Which is why a lot of older witches who came up through traditions refer back to planetary correspondences and other references for their group or public work. Or they use cultural specific correspondences where those apply.  They provide a consistent basis to work from.
You may never hear about their personal correspondences (or really deep cultural correspondences) because there is a bit of protection in keeping those secret. Or sometimes even leaving a little something out of a shared recipe. This is why it can be useful to have an understanding of classical, planetary correspondences and where they came from, even if you don't always use them. You need to be able to look at those spells people are posting and understand what should or shouldn't be there and why. Also, it gives you a great starting point to writing your own spells.
What many don't realize is that these weren't just for witchcraft. In fact, they were considered scientific and medical when they were developed. Doctors relied on ruling planets, ruling signs and the good old doctrine of signatures (If it is lung-shaped obviously it helps make lungs better) to create cures. You can find Culpeper's Complete Herbal free to read online if you want to explore this for historical purposes. This was a medical text and not only gives you planetary and astrological correspondences for herbs but sometimes recommends what astrological sign should rules the patient for the best results. (I do not recommend Culpeper as a modern medical text. Some of the cures are a bit deadly.)
Not every correspondences was simple and single focused. Or even agreed on by all parties. You'll find some plants fall under two or more planets. Or different parts of a plant fall under different planets.
Or you stumble across something like myrrh where everyone seems to have a different take. Myrrh is sun because the Egyptians used it as an offering to Ra. No, it's Mars because of the Romans. Or Saturn, associated with death and the underworld. Or Venus for it's mystical powers.
Which is why there often is no single, simple answer for "what do I substitute for (herb x)"  The answer may change depending on what the spell is for. Or, perhaps, that wasn't even the correct herb to begin with.
And now, in honor of Mammaw Edith, I’m off to eat some coffee cake.

5 Book Recs Based on Your Favorite Nostalgic Halloween Movie!🎃
Tumblr media
I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts of October is watching all the classic spooky season movies I grew up with. It brings back all those fond memories of childhood fall festivities, Halloween costume planning, and the joy of filling up your candy bucket while trick-or-treating (even if you had to fight your mom about wearing a jacket with your costume because it was too cold). If you’re in the middle of your yearly Halloween movie binge or haven’t had time because of the hot new books dropping recently, here are some ghoulish book recommendations based on some of our favorite nostalgic Halloween movies!
If you like Hocus Pocus (1993), then you might like Dead Man’s Float
Tumblr media
While there might not be a big musical number led by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in the middle of Dead Man’s Float, this story will surely leave you gasping for air. There is no doubt that Hocus Pocus is one of the most classic Halloween movies of all time, as the dubious Max unleashes the iconic Sanderson sisters to enact their revenge on Salem. Shawn Sarles' haunting YA horror novel follows this same hair-raising idea, except this time, a seemingly harmless prank unleashes a ghost with unfinished business and intent on finding its killer. If you’re in the mood for a more frightening version of the classic Hocus Pocus story, I recommend you start reading Dead Man’s Float now!
If you like Halloweentown (1998), then you might like Shadow Coven
Tumblr media
Halloweentown is well-known for its inclusion of literally all things Halloween and its empowering story of a young witch who will go to extreme lengths to save her family and the world from an evil power. Similarly, S. Isabelle’s second installment in The Witchery series, Shadow Coven, centers around a group of witches who must defeat magical and mundane threats to save themselves and their coven forever. While there might not be any friendly skeleton cab drivers, Shadow Coven includes some kick-butt witches just like Marnie and her family that will surely have you reaching for the spellbook this Halloween! Start reading now!
If you like Casper (1995), then you might like Sixteen Souls
Tumblr media
Casper the Friendly Ghost is a staple nostalgic character during the Halloween season. How could you not love the sweet and cute little ghost who falls for the girl who moves into the very mansion he’s haunting? Fans of the movie Casper will have no problem jumping into the spooky yet swoony YA debut Sixteen Souls by Rosie Talbot. This ghostly tale is about sixteen-year-old Charlie, who gets dragged into hunting down the cause behind the mysterious disappearances of several famous spirits by an irritating yet charming new ghost seer in town. Sixteen Souls is sure to give you chills, all while making your heart melt as Charlie must deal with his growing crush and work to save York’s spirits at the same time. Start reading Sixteen Souls now!
If you like Beetlejuice (1988), then you might like Beholder
Tumblr media
Whether you became a fan by watching the 1988 film with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder or the quirky modern-day musical, there is no denying that Beetlejuice has cemented itself as one of the most iconic ghost stories of all time. While Ryan La Sala’s Beholder is much more mysterious and sinister than the joke-filled dark humor of Beetlejuice that we’re used to, both stories explore a world where dark, evil powers must be stopped before they have the chance to take over fully—one just comes in a pin-striped suit with green hair. Start reading BEHOLDER!
If you like Scooby Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost (1999), then you might like At the Speed of Lies
Tumblr media
It goes without saying that any Scooby-Doo! film or episode is a year-round classic. But during the Halloween season especially, there is something even more thrilling about watching the gang from Mystery Inc. kick some monster butt. This undefeatable group of friends is no stranger to solving their town’s mysteries; still, Quinn Calvet from Cindy L. Otis’ At the Speed of Lies certainly wasn’t expecting to get swept into the mystifying chaos of her town’s latest disappearances. Fans of Scooby-Doo! will love this modern twist on mystery solving that we’ve all grown to love, thanks to Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby. And while Quinn might be well on her way to becoming the “it girl” of The Whine, her town’s growing social media platform, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a shout-out to the original it girls–The Hex Girls from Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost. Start reading At the Speed of Lies!

Note
I really like all the various hc you've done for TOH characters, especially the coven heads, and if you're still doing the character ask game I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
🧸 Adrian
💔 🎃 Vitimir
📢 Raine
💌 Lilith
🪀 Eberwolf
Hi! Of course, I don’t mind answering.
Adrian:
🧸: I don’t have many hurt/comfort headcanons for him because I just view him as a pathetic man--not like pathetic mew mew just pathetic. I also generally don’t like how he treats Gus, but he fits is role as villain well. More like your shallow egoistical antagonist. If I were to come up with one, it would be talking himself up after a setback. Adrain is man who prides himself on his ego and his image, but he’s easily shaken after a minor setback so he would look himself in the mirror and talk himself up. Like a get back out there and kill it. Sorry if I don’t have much, I mostly think of this as villain/antagonist viewpoint.
Vitimir:
💔:I don’t have many angst headcanons for him, but I were to pick one it would be his lonely childhood because he could barely make friends due to his heavy interest in potions. On top of fellow peers being afraid of his appearance, he tried never letting it get to him until he found a semi group of friends he got along with as a Coven Head, Sorry if it wasn’t what you were expecting.
🎃: Nothing scares Vitimir easily. Like the other Elder Coven Heads, he invokes fear towards those below him. If I were to pick something that truly scared him, not being able to do his love of potion making. There is nothing more than he enjoys doing is potion making, regardless of how it ruins his health. It’s the only thing that brings him happiness.
Raine:
📢: Their design, I just love their design. Look at their design, I just love seeing another nonbinary character. I love how the BATTs love them and the fact they took a chance Katya. I wanna gush about the angst of Eda’s Requiem in which they were separated from Raine and didn’t know the other part of their plan until later. Though that’s a conversation for different day.
Lilith:
💌: Back when she was the Coven Head of EC, during her night patrol that she would cover for younger Scouts because she unable to sleep, a small black kitten with white underside and paws followed her curious on her patrol around the rim of the castle. Lilith at first tried to take the kitten off of castle property, but they followed her anyways.
Lilith, crouching in front of the kitten: You’re really insistent on being my walking buddy, aren’t you?
Kitten, blinking: Meow.
Lilith, bowing her head: Very well.. Only for tonight. Understood?
They followed her for the rest of the night. If you want more kitten headcanons, feel free to send an ask.
Eberwolf:
🪀: Let’s see...Asides from putting napkins on people’s head while they sleep, they love teaching small animals self defence as they believe they deserve the right to and they just wanna be left alone. They also scare the shit out of Graye because they occasionally drop down from the ceiling before meetings which ticks off Snapdragon.
Snapdragon, pointing at Eber: Listen here! Just because you defy gravity, doesn’t mean you can take my job of scaring the wimps!
j
Eber: *Sticks out their tongue.*
Snapdragon: Alright! That’s it!
Darius, pinching the bridge of his nose: I just want to get through one day.

The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 1 - The Apostate.
I never do these ‘My thoughts on’ posts coz I figured no one cares, but Don't knock it til you try it, I guess. Here are some thoughts I had watching it -
An Alligator ruined that kids little party so I will be calling the covenants new planet ‘Space Florida’ until told otherwise.
Did Din see they were in trouble and rush in to save them, or did he sit back and watch for a while as he tried to remember if this was part of the ceremony.
When The Armorer first said the whole ‘bathe in the living waters’ thing and Din was like ‘but there’s no water?’ I thought it was Mandalorian Idiom like ‘when pigs fly’
I low key hope there are no waters and Din has to realise the only think that makes him Mandalorian are the friends he made along the way or something like that.
I love the Purrgil (I could do without everyone who recognises them from Rebels acting like they’re the only person who’s seen Rebels however) I just love Star Wars, so anything remotely related to the world of Star Wars and I'll lose my shit. If I see a Loth-cat, I hear the word caf, if they reuse a planet, I love it.
They gentrified the pirate cove. The bastards.
Of all the side quests Din has been offered ‘become a Thane of Nevarro, you can even purchase a house’ is my favourite.
The episode paused to give us a truly batshit ‘let me drink in the school’ Monty Python sketch and I request they do this once an episode.
I saw a lot of articles demanding to know what happened to Cara Dune but honestly, they all had the same energy as my Grandma asking ‘are you still friends with Susan from your year 9 English class?’ Like, we worked on a group project years ago and last I saw she was posting shitty all lives matter takes on Facebook.
Considering the First Order is kind of supposed to be a look at this right wing resurgence. (The enemies where once nazis and now they're angsty little white boys who wanna be nazis) it could have been interesting to have Greef be like ‘hey you still friends with Cara?’ and Din go ‘she started saying stuff like ‘I don't always agree with the First Order but every now and then they say what we’re all thinking’ and now we don’t talk anymore”. But, I understand the importance of separating a character from an actor so it’s probably better they don't do that.
I’m glad they didn’t bring back IG-11. I kind of don’t want them to cheapen his heart wrenching death scene, but this is Star Wars, when has death ever meant anything? Can't wait to have him back.
90% sure Grogu was trying to eat the Anzellans
If this season doesn't win an Emmy it’s because they cut out a scene where Din crawled on his hands and knees to get into that droidsmiths.
I hope Din teaching Grogu how to fly becomes a Chekov's driving lesson and Grogu has to fly the ship to save the day.
That dogfight with the pirates was pure Saturday morning cartoon and camp and it’s why I love Star Wars.
I have never been sure if Mandalore was a planet or a planetary system so this episode did kinda clear some of that up. (And it’s always fun to see more Mandalorian places)
Bo-Katan's hair is giving me Halloween Store Ginger Spice Wig realness and I’m sort of into it. I also love how all the other Star Wars ladies are infamous for constantly changing hairstyles and she just went ‘nah, this is the one’
Bo-Katan sitting/slouching/laying on her chair is me every day, sprawled on out the sofa trying to figure out why have back problems. Finally, the representation we need.
Overall, solid first episode. It kind of felt like when you start up Skyrim again after not playing for a while and just spend the first hour or so just remembering where you got up to.
I enjoyed the different in tone to this episode. The first episode of Season 1 showed a lone ranger type, mowing down enemies and having no time for people like Greef. In this episode he is much less bloodthirsty and we see him catching up with multiple friends throughout the episode. I understand the need to up the drama and stakes with every season, but it's also nice to see your character get to enjoy the benefits of their success and character development.
I know some people are mad that the show had no planned ending and will keep going for as long as they want. People have been saying this will make the show ‘aimless’ but the Mandalorian has kind of always been an aimless wander through the galaxy, picking up friends and questing and I think this episode show cased that.
Finally, I saw a review saying that the Mandalorian premiere fails to match the high bar set by Andor and it pales by comparison. That's like saying winter isn't as warm as summer. They’re different things, that do different jobs in the franchise. (Also, I remember when Andor premiered and there were plenty of revies saying it was no The Mandalorian)
It’s too cakes! Two amazingly good cakes! Andor has a prison break episode and it's a gut punch of a saga that makes you feel the need to go for walk and appreciate your freedom after you watch it. The Mandalorian had a prison break episode and it was a fun romp of double crossing and cartoon violence. And we get to have both, and it’s great and I just love Star Wars in all shapes and sizes.
I have more to say but I'm gonna leave it there, I might do one of these for the next episode, but we’ll see. All in all, it was a good solid The Mandalorian episode and I am a fan.

Okay so while I'm thinkin about TOH I want to talk about something that's been bugging me for a while now. And like I just want to preface this by saying this is my opinion and your opinion can be different this really isn't super deep.
 TOH SPOILERS
 so.
 Huntllow
Hunter x Willow has kinda blown up into a big thing recently and like... I dunno. I don't mind it. I don't think it's bad or anything, in fact it's kind of sweet in it's own way. I'm not one to really care about what other people ship, I'm not even mad about things like fucking Lunter (which I don’t like, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be. It’s not lesbian erasure to ship a bisexual girl with a boy just because she’s in a commited relationship with a girl in canon. I’m happy to be getting the wlw representation, but luz would be no less queer for liking a boy and besides... it’s a ship... not canon. As long as people shipping Lunter aren’t being blatantly homophobic I see no problem with it existing.)
I just... okay so Hunter is really not in a position to be in a romantic relationship with the current state of canon. Obviously you can ship Hunter with people, again I do not care, but I just can't really do that. Not with how he is now and what he's been through. Like Hunter isn't even in a healthy enough place to ask for help from people, he doesn't think he really has friends. When he ran from the coven, everyone in the fandom thought he was either going to end up at Willow's place or run into Darius, but that isn't what happened.  And really? We should have seen that coming. If he'd run into Darius the kid would've spiraled even further into panic because for all he knows Darius works for Belos. He wouldn't want to burden Willow, he CANNOT fathom asking for help from anyone.
So what does he do instead? He tries to find a safe place in secret. He knows he'll be somewhat safe at Hexide, but he also doesn't tell anyone he's there. He breaks in in secret and stays hidden. He can't trust anyone. A lot of people have been posting things like "Huntllow canon!!" while presenting screenshots of him blushing around her. I would like to take a moment to remind you that Hunter does not know what being loved and respected feels like.  He also shares a common trauma with Willow, they've both been called the same in universe slur. He relates to Willow and respects her a lot. I'm not sure if he considers Willow a friend yet, but if not her certainly wants to. Whether or not he has a romantic crush, I doubt it would be obvious to him if he did. Hunter likely has trouble understanding any of his feelings for the new and kind people in his life. He's never had people like that before, people who care about him truly.  And sure, he only seems to blush around Willow, maybe he does like her or think she's pretty or cool or whatever, but even still, getting into a romantic relationship right now would be a really bad idea considering he is only just now learning to trust people. If he can't even maintain friendships, a romantic relationship would be exceedingly taxing for him. What Hunter really needs is a solid group of friends to learn how to trust before he gets into anything romantic.
Again, if you like Huntllow, more power to you. I'm not trying to put anyone down and invalidate their feelings about a ship, I just wanted to share my 2 cents. My opinion is not the end all be all and I'm sure I'm projecting a bit onto Hunter as well. Had to hold myself back from bringing up the complexities of being under the  ACE/ARO umbrella and how it could also relate to Hunters relationships because at that point it really truly is just my own headcanons and projections. Huntllow is fine, I just personally would rather see Hunter get a healthy support system FIRST.

name: Charlotte (Charlie) Levin
faceclaim: Florence Pugh
gender & pronouns: Female, She/Her
age: 23
occupation: baker at sweet affairs bakery
BIOGRAPHY
Charlie’s childhood was, for all intents and purposes, pretty perfect. She had loving parents, an older brother whom she adored. The only thing that set her apart from other kids was that she and her family were also witches. Born into a small, close-knit coven on the outskirts of London, Charlie was one of the youngest in the coven, and as such was doted on by everyone. She struggled a little in her learnings, always failing in memorizing spells or brewing potions just right but she tried her best and honestly, life was pretty perfect.
Until it wasn’t.
She was barely thirteen when her coven was attacked by a group of humans- armed with fear and weapons. Charlie only made it out alive thanks to her brother’s quick-thinking and her mother’s sacrifice, allowing her time to escape with nothing more than the clothes on her back and a backpack hastily thrown together with some potions and her family spellbook. She was also given her mother’s protection necklace, passed down four generations and something Charlie hasn’t taken off since. She can still remember the screams though, can remember seeing her brother’s limp body falling to the ground in a heap and her mother jumping in front of her and an attacker, ending her mother’s life as well but giving Charlie enough time to get away.
She didn’t escape alone though (thankfully). One other made it out with her and is the sole reason she’s still alive today--her best friend, Alex. Alex isn’t a witch though, and instead is a shapeshifter who was adopted and raised by another witch in the coven, Esmerelda. Esmerelda was her mother’s best friend and practically like an aunt to Charlie, the two families always together.
The two bounced around after that, homeless and orphaned. Nights were spent sleeping on benches or under bridges, in seedy motels, and they had to steal and fight to get by. Alex kept her safe though, they kept each other safe, and in return Charlie tried her best to not let her anger or fear show at how easily they lost everyone they’d ever loved (as well as trying not to bother him with how often she woke up from night terrors, or how often her anger at their situation would bubble inside her, threatening to explode). And through it all, Charlie vowed to never let anything like that happen again. Alex was her lifeline, her other half.
In the years following, Charlie spent less time focusing on schoolwork, and more time fully engrossing herself in her witchcraft as well as she could on her own (which wasn’t too well) without a coven. She needed to keep them safe- and keep them under the radar. Which is why she started up taking bakery jobs when she was fifteen whenever they’d stay in one town for more than a few weeks. Her mother had taught her how when she was a child and it was a way for Charlie to feel close to the woman she’d lost years ago. When she wasn’t mixing doughs though, she was pocketing free food to bring home for her and Alex.
When they were in they 18 the two decided they’d gotten all they could out of England and the dozens of towns and villages they’d jumped around from over the years. Alex had recently found out that his birthmother was still alive as well, living in America, so with cheap plane tickets (and a little magic) they were off. His mother turned out to be as awful as Charlie had feared, and Charlie wanted nothing more than to fight her, to hurt her in all the ways she’d hurt Alex. But instead she just got them out of there and was determined to make the best of their new life decision. Charlie suggested California first, since she thought it’d be fun to go someplace completely different, but they both hated it and within a few months they were on the move again. Instead of public transit and hitchhiking though, Charlie had a much more efficient idea--and thanks to a hot wiring lesson learned from her brother years ago, Charlie got them an old pickup truck and they headed off again, bouncing from town to town just like they had in England.
Along the way though, feelings were shared and revelations were had. The feelings Charlie had had for Alex for years were reciprocated, and soon after the two officially became a couple, bringing them closer--and making them happier-- than ever.
Less than two months into being a couple though, Charlie realized she was pregnant, tilting their whole world on its axis. They decided to keep the baby and, needing someplace safe to go, when word of Sleepy Hollow hit them, they decided to give it a chance, figuring they had nothing to lose if they did so.

“I Am YEG Arts” Series: Vincent Brulotte
Tumblr media
Ask someone where their favourite place in the world is, and you’ll likely wait a minute while they narrow it down. Ask Vincent Brulotte, and he’ll instantly reply, “The movie theatre!” In 2020, that favourite place also became Brulotte’s part-time office when he joined the team at the Edmonton International Film Festival. Today, he’s the festival’s artistic director, dedicating much of his year to finding new and exciting voices in filmmaking. Never been to the festival? Consider Brulotte your guide. He’s got tips to get you knowing, going, and on-with-the-showing! Get your popcorn ready. This week’s “I Am YEG Arts” story belongs to Vincent Brulotte.
Tell us about your connection to Edmonton and why you’ve made it your home.
I moved here at a very young age and have spent over 20 years calling Edmonton my home. Growing up on the west end of Edmonton, and then living in Oliver for the past decade, I’ve been lucky enough to explore and experience many facets of life in this great city: our arts community, our river valley, West Edmonton Mall… Edmonton is spoiled for activity and excitement, especially during our unimaginably long summer days, and that vibrance is what has kept me here.
Tell us a little about your role with the Edmonton International Film Festival and what makes it special to you and the city.
Since joining EIFF in 2020, I’ve been lucky enough to be named Artistic Director of our 2022 Festival. Helping to lead on programming, festival planning, and community engagement has aided in connecting me with so many parts of our city—there are so many groups and communities that reside here, more than you’d ever guess! EIFF is not only our opportunity to highlight local and international cinema, it’s our opportunity to build new relationships within our arts community and outside of it, too. There are few things that make us feel closer to each other than enjoying a film together, and it’s that sense of community building that makes EIFF so special.
What is it that you love about programming?
There’s a lot to love! It’s an opportunity to keep up with independent and global cinema, to understand perspectives from all around the globe, and to see the stories of thousands of individuals—each with their own point of view and experience in life. There’s a certain thrill in screening a film, adoring it, and then wanting to share it with your friends and family. How often do you text a friend telling them they *have* to watch the same TV show you are? Imagine that thrill, but amplified to getting the opportunity to share it with hundreds of strangers and eagerly anticipating their reactions. Every year our team gets so giddy when we imagine our audience enjoying a film we’ve programmed; it’s truly all about bringing Edmontonians something unique, or compelling, or even controversial.
Growing up, what was the first film you watched that made you want to be part of telling stories?
Raiders of the Lost Ark! It was the kickoff to a three-Saturday family event in which we watched all three of the Indiana Jones films, and I can still feel my grandmother’s hands over my eyes as
they open the Ark of the Covenant, shielding me from revolting sights of faces melting and heads exploding. Our family movie nights were always special, but it was after those weekends that I became furiously obsessed taking to our family computer and doing hours of research about upcoming films, classic films, and awards-circuit films—I had to know it all. I doubt my reaction would’ve been as strong if not for knowing that movie nights meant time spent together as a family, sharing emotions as the film in front of us so expertly manipulated them. I still look forward to sharing films with my family. It’s something that always brings us closer or teaches us something new about one another.
What does community mean to you, and where do you find it?
Community is so special to me. Some could say it’s people linked by a common goal or interests, but I find community within many different parts of our lives. Community means sharing, whether it’s sharing resources, or experiences, or even emotions—I sometimes forget how connected I am to the people around me, even strangers. Community is everywhere, whether you’re waiting in line at a bus stop or part of an audience at an event like Folk Fest, we’re all sharing something, and it doesn’t always have to be interactive or social to feel connected.
How do you stay creatively sharp?
Nothing beats reading—essays, journalism, and anything non-fiction tends to stimulate me most; there’s so much to learn about the world around us, and creativity can spark so strongly when we pull from reality. Keeping up with classic and contemporary cinema is a must for me. I learn something from almost every film I watch, and I try to carry that knowledge with me as I move through my career and life. Most of all, journaling helps keep my writing sharp(ish) and reminds me of how much I’ve both changed and remained the same.
Who’s someone inspiring you right now?
Climate activists are easily the most inspiring people in the world to me right now. Our future is in such dire straits, and securing a sustainable society for future generations is one of my highest priorities and biggest fears. Anyone who is pushing to create green jobs or to eliminate fossil fuel production is doing some of the most thankless work, especially in this region. I hope that our politicians—on all sides—make the commitments necessary to keep us from irreparably damaging our environment, no matter how difficult they seem. I encourage anyone and everyone to put pressure on their local governments and representatives, no matter where they’re from, and put an end to the selfish consumption that’s led us to this point.

What are you most looking forward to about this year’s festival (Sept. 22–Oct. 1)?
I’m most looking forward to this being our first festival at full capacity again! We encourage everyone to take all the precautions they deem necessary, as this pandemic isn’t quite over, but we’re so looking forward to packed houses and roaring crowds as we show them some of the most entertaining and thought-provoking films of the year. Our audience is what keeps us alive, and I can’t overstate how much we think of you as we plan each year’s festival. We hope you’ll enjoy all of our programming and can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
What can someone attending EIFF for the first time expect from the experience? Any tips for being a great film-fester?
Being a great film-fester is easier than you think! It starts with looking through our Program Guide available on our website. Our schedule-at-a-glance is a stylish and convenient way to plan your days—print it out and highlight everything you want to see; it’ll help you visualize your time commitment. You don’t need me to tell you to turn your cell phone off and to keep chatter to a minimum, but just in case… do those two things, please! It not only makes the experience better for you, it makes it better for everyone around you.
If you love a film, make sure you vote in our Audience Choice Awards! So many winners have expressed their immense gratitude for our audience, and it’s such a good way to show a filmmaker how much their story meant to you. Finally, bring a friend! Movies are always better together, and think of how cool you’ll seem when the film you took your friend to wins Best Picture next year. It’s like sharing that win!
Describe your perfect day in Edmonton. How do you spend it?
A perfect day in Edmonton is always a Thursday, everything is open without being too busy. It starts with a cold-brew coffee from my fridge and a Beb’s Bagel from my freezer, because my perfect day involves not spending too much money on breakfast. A walk through Oliver and the River Valley, ending at Walterdale Hill by 11 a.m. would have to be next, followed by reading on the Hill into the afternoon. The perfect day would have to continue at Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre, catching a 2 p.m. matinee and enjoying a late lunch of popcorn and soda. I’d continue onward for a happy hour at Redstar. We’ve got tons of amazing local restaurants in downtown Edmonton, but my perfect day has to include a dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory—it’s all included! Finally, if it’s Thursday, there’s usually a killer drag show at Evolution Wonderlounge. Pop in there with some friends, cheer on some amazing local drag performers, and before you know it it’s midnight! Feel free to use this as a blueprint for your own perfect day; I don’t hold any intellectual property rights to it.

About Vincent Brulotte
Vincent Brulotte is an avid film-lover who joined the Edmonton International Film Festival team as Artistic Director in 2020. His passion is programming, but his talents are endless, and he’s beyond excited to bring fresh ideas to enhance the festival experience for audiences and filmmakers. Interested in finding new and exciting voices in filmmaking, he’s driven by stories both international and local, with a strong interest in voices from the LGBTQ+ community and from BIPOC filmmakers. Most of all, he simply loves movies and believes a good story comes from anywhere and everywhere. Ask him, “What’s your favourite place in the entire world?” and he’ll answer without skipping a beat… “Sitting inside a movie theatre.”

Can I request some head cannons for the volturi where their mate tries to stop another vampire from hurting them but then their mate gets hurt in the process.
ALEC:
alec felt like the world was crumbling around him
he was following demetri through the woods, shouting out names of potential enemies, just to see if anyone was the same direction as you, but demetri had nothing
they came across a field, and the scent of your blood filled his nostrils
alec should've gone around and snuck up on him; he knew that.
but he could not force himself to, he had to get to you
the vampire standing over you looked in his direction and seeing him run towards him, he bit you before running off into the trees
demetri followed him but alec ran to you
he fell to his knees beside you, touching his icy fingers over your head
you'd begun to scream, and the sound made alec feel worse than he ever had before
he pulled you into his arms, and held you close as you screamed and fought against the pain of the venom
alec sat completely still in that clearing for two hours as the venom took over you
demetri returned, bringing jane and felix with him
jane, surprisingly kind in the moment, kneeled beside her brother and put a hand on his shoulder
"you know this was going to happen eventually"
"not like this, they weren't ready"
"brother, someone wanted to kill them. don't you think this is for the best? they're better protected now"
DEMETRI:
he was miles ahead of his friends
you'd been missing from the castle for only two hours
but demetri finally convinced aro that something was wrong
"my king, you don't want anyone to get the idea that someone can come to your home and take your treasures away"
you would've told demetri if you were leaving
so he was tracking you, and you were hours away from Volterra
when he stumbled across an abandoned shack and finally caught your scent, he followed it as well as his mind
your destination is ahead on the left
you were being held by two vampires
one of them held a hand over your mouth and the other cut your arm
he saw red
he didn't get there in time to save you without a scratch, and he would never forgive himself
he killed the vampire covering your mouth first
the other was distracted by the waterfall of blood coming out of you
demetri killed him too
"c'mere petal, oh what happened? how did these bad men capture you, my darling?"
he would probably push for your change sooner rather than later after this
FELIX:
it during a trial
you were meant to be there because you saw what transpired between a few guards
you were the reason they were on trial at all
it was an open and shut case, aro could see that there was a group conspiring against the kings
so when you passed them, reaching out to aro...
one of them grabbed you, holding your throat tightly
he was choking you
your scared eyes found felix, who looked ready to explode at the audacity
aro looked shocked and totally displeased
"guards, kill them all"
felix went to you first, but hesitated when the guards grip got tighter
you needed air, or you were going to die
you clawed at the vamp, but what could you do?
felix flashed around to grab the guy from the back, and in doing so accidentally caused you being thrown across the room
there was the deafening crack of bones breaking, and the distinct smell of blood filled the air
felix finished his job before running to your side
even in times like this the kings had to come first
he would never ever forgive himself for this
he was in the room when you got attacked and he didn't see it
JANE:
it was a fluke
the was a vampire coven that they were interrogating
you had come with them, because it wasn't too far and you liked when jane ran with you on her back
she would struggle to express it, but she likes it more when you're there with her
alec would stay behind, just a little bit to keep an eye on you
she would use her power on one of the vampires, who would scream violently, and land on their knees in agony
but then they started to laugh, and jane heard something else
she stopped, and heard the lingering screams of you in the distance
"what is this?"
"they can deflect powers, and aim it at whoever they wish"
jane would run to you, sending alec back to them with instructions to take the deflector
she would apologize a hundred times
she never wanted you to know what the pain felt like
that member of the coven would be taken before the kings
jane would recommend execution
jane's wasn't really but whateva...

The Witch’s Companion
Imagine settling down in La Push and instantly hitting it off with a group of locals. You have an instant connection with Sam Uley and though you know exactly what the connection is, you find that you would rather have Sam tell you what it is. Only he has trouble finding a way and you find it rather amusing since you already know all about the supernatural realm. After all, you are a part of it.
Tumblr media
Words: 6.3K Author’s Note: This is so bad, but I didn’t wanna trash it. I needed something to post. My apologies.
Since coming into your magic, you've always felt like something was missing. No matter how much you studied or how much progress you made in mastering your abilities, you always felt incomplete. You stayed home long enough to complete your high school education and then worked a few years to earn some cash before deciding to take a chance out in the real world on your own.
Fortunately for you, however, your family knew you'd be leaving the coven and they were more than prepared to send you on your way with funds they had saved up over the years themselves. It was a tearful goodbye, but as soon as you were on the road you felt it in every fiber of your being that you were making the right choice.
You drove for hours on end, not content enough to stop until the moon was high in the sky, and then found the least skeezy motel you could find to stay the night in. Then after paying for the night and putting a sigil of protection on your truck so no one could peek through the windows or break a window without setting off a blaring alarm, you showered and prepared for bed. But as you laid in bed, you tossed and turned as your brain wouldn't shut off. So instead of counting sheep, you got back up and dug out some of your supplies from the bag you kept close to you at all times.
As you sat on the floor with your legs crossed beneath you and a map spread out in front of you, you lit four white candles and placed one on each corner of the map. You took a white crystal on a chain and let it pool in your hand before closing your eyes, then holding the crystal against your chest. With nothing but good intentions and the hope of finding that missing part of you, you rubbed the crystal over your heart before grabbing the chain and letting the crystal hang over the map. And then with your eyes still closed, you twirled the crystal over the map before holding your hand still and letting spirits guide the crystal so you have an inkling of where to drive next.
Minutes passed and when you felt the chain still in your hand, you opened your eyes and found the tip of the crystal pointing towards the North-West portion of the map. So with somewhat of a destination in mind, you packed your belongings and was finally able to fall asleep.
Over the next few days you drove and drove, stopping for bathroom breaks, food and rest when necessary. When you hit the west coast and then started driving north, you were skeptical about where the crystal had really been pointing. But then you get to Forks, Washington and something just feels different. It doesn't feel right, but it's damn near close and you decide to drive around some more.
It isn't until you drive onto the reservation in La Push that it feels like you can properly breathe for the first time ever and you nearly cry tears of relief. But before you can start making plans of settling down, you know there are some things that must be addressed. Because growing up in a coven and learning of every supernatural creature you could, you know La Push is home to the legends of spirit warriors. And behind every legend is truth. So in order to be on good terms with the locals and the elders of the tribe, you know you must ask permission to stay on their lands.
The elders, surprisingly, needed no convincing. They were wary of a witch's presence at first, but after explaining everything to them they seemed to perk up with interest. More than a couple of the elders had twinkling eyes when you spoke of feeling as if a part of you was missing and that you only felt at complete ease once you crossed their borders. They even gave you a few suggestions on available houses in the area and you took your leave after asking them to keep your heritage a secret. You wanted to meet people on your own time and not have anyone seek you out because of what you could do. They completely understood and wished you well.
So a couple weeks later, here you are staring up at your very own two bedroom house. You had some cash put away for this exact occasion, but really it was the elders of La Push who were such a tremendous help in helping you purchase the place. The house itself was practically surrounded by trees and far enough away from any neighbors which granted you all the privacy you needed. So in other words, it was perfect.
You still need furniture and appliances to fill the house, so you've given yourself a time limit of about a week to get everything you need because that's as long as you're willing to stay in a small motel down in Forks. You've already ordered a basic refrigerator and stove, and they're to be delivered in a couple days time. You're still on the lookout for beds and couches, but nothing's caught your eye, so for now you've come to the house prepared with cleaning supplies.
The inside of the house is in pretty great condition, the only thing you really have to do is give it a good dusting, wipe down, and mopping. So after opening up all the windows, you walked around the house with a duster on an extendable arm made sure to dust every corner, nook and cranny of the room. You Windex every glass surface you can before sweeping the floors and then fill up a mop bucket to get started on the floors.
Afterwards, as the floors finish drying, you sit on the porch with a sandwich and Gatorade you had packed into a small ice chest. When you're a little more halfway through, two trucks rumble down the path to your house and you set aside your food in order to stand up and greet them.
Tribal Elder Harry Clearwater is easily recognizable, as is his beautiful wife Sue who is sitting in the passenger seat across from him. The two boys in the truck behind them, however, are new.
Stepping off the porch and meeting your guests halfway, you greet them all with a smile. Sue is the only one to receive a hug whereas Harry offers a handshake. "Hello, Harry. What brings you down here?"
The older man chuckles. "Just wanted to see how you were settling in and introduce you to a few of the young ones."
You finally meet the gazes of the boys behind Harry, taking note of the tribal tattoos on their upper biceps that they're showing off thanks to their sleeveless shirts. Both are wearing cargo shirts and have bare feet which you hardly bat an eye at. "Hello." You wave at them, smiling softly.
"Hey," the slightly shorter of the two smirks, leaning forward and offering his hand, "I'm Paul."
As you grasp his hand, his warmth sends shivers down your spine. "Y/N. It's nice to meet you."
Paul shakes your hand a little longer than normal and you find yourself fighting back a laugh. "Paul, would you let her go? She's clearly not interested." His friend clamps a hand on his shoulder, pulling him back briefly before thrusting his own hand forward. "I'm Jared."
"Hi."
After greeting the two boys, you give a very amused Harry and Sue your attention once more. "So thanks for checking in. I'm just cleaning out the house right now. Getting it ready for deliveries."
"Oh?" Sue perks up. "What did you find?"
"Just a refrigerator and stove for now," you say with a small shrug and sheepish laugh. "I rather have the cabinets and refrigerator stocked with food rather than worry about comfortable bedding. If push comes to shove, I'll happily camp out on an air mattress while I find a decent bed."
Harry chuckles. "I figured you'd be having trouble finding some decent furniture, so I went ahead and went through our storage. Come on," he gestures for you to follow. "Come take a look."
"What?" You stare, wide-eyed, and Sue chuckles before nudging you to follow. You do, with the boys chuckling at your surprise, and you find a wooden bed frame laying in the bed of Harry's truck.
"It's a bit old," Harry then admits, "but it's still very sturdy. It was wasting away in our storage, so I figured it could go to a good home."
"Are- are you sure?"
"Of course," Sue assures you. "We also have a couch and a recliner if you're interested. They're still in really good condition."
"Well yeah! If you say it's in good condition and are willing to get rid of them, I'll happily take them off your hands."
"Excellent. Boys!" Harry catches Jared and Paul's attention. "Go back to my house and have Leah show you to the storage. She'll know what couch and recliner we want to get rid of."
"You got it, Harry."
Jared nods at Harry to let him know he's on it and Paul spares you one last lingering leer which prompts you to laugh and shake your head at him. Then turning to Sue, you ask, "So what do I owe you?"
But Sue is quick to wave you off. "Don't worry about it. Consider this as our house warming present. And," she's quick to cut you off when you open your mouth to retort, "if you feel like you owe us something, then all I ask is that you stop by the health clinic once you're truly settled in. You have a very healing nature about you and I'm sure you'd be a great help to our little community."
Catching her drift, you can't help but chuckle. "Sure thing, Sue."
With nothing else to be said, Harry and Sue help you unload the bed frame and carry it into your house and into the appropriate room. Fortunately Harry has a bag of tools in his truck and instructs you what screws go where since you were more capable of getting down on the floor than he was. Paul and Jared get back right before you finish putting together the frame, so Sue walks out to go instruct them to bring the furniture in.
Afterwards, as you and Harry join everyone in the living room, you smile kindly around at the occupants. "Boys, thanks for bringing the heavy stuff in."
"Don't even worry about it," Jared says. "If Sue and Harry are already this attached, I have a feeling you're good people."
Before Paul can comment, there's a bone chilling howl ripping through the air. It's not too close to the house, but it doesn't stop the boys from awkwardly chuckling afterwards and assuring you the wolves around the reservation are completely harmless. You keep a faint smile in place, nodding along, and force down your amusement at their hasty retreat.
Turning to Sue and Harry, you laugh. "They don't have a subtle bone in their body."
"No they do not," she muses.
A comfortable silence follows the three of you out onto the porch, watching as Paul and Jared drive away in a hurry. Seconds pass before Harry makes it clear they should get going too.
As you follow them to their truck, you say, "Thanks again for the furniture. If I head out now I can probably find a box spring and mattress, and actually sleep in my own house tonight."
Sue smiles. "I'm glad we could be of some help. If you need anything," she then reaches into her pocket, pulling out a small white card, "here's my number. Don't hesitate to call."
You take the card and glance at the number before pocketing it. "I won't. Thank you."
The married couple climb into the truck and as soon as they're settled and the engine rumbles to life, Harry leans out his window. "Don't take too long to let the boys in on your secret. I have a feeling you'll be seeing them more often than not now that two of them know where you live."
"How many are there?"
"Three as of right now," Harry says, "but we're keeping an eye on a few others."
"This pack keeps growing and the vampires will be too scared to step anywhere near La Push."
Harry chuckles. "That's fine by me."
With nothing else to be said and the Clearwater's wanting you to get everything you need before the stores shut down, they bid you farewell and take their leave. Then after making sure you shut all the windows to your house and lock up, you hop in your truck and drive to the city in hopes of getting a box spring and mattress to fit your new bed.
Tumblr media
Over the next few days, you get settled in and you've never felt more at peace. Even your magic seems to meshing better than ever within you and your coven back home couldn't have been more happier for you.
You've kept your promise to Sue, mixing concoctions that were easily added into lotions for aching joints and grinding powered mixtures that could be added to water that acted as a mild pain reliever. The reservation's clinic was mostly used by the elderly and you were glad you could offer them relief for their aching bones.
You've also run into Paul and Jared a handful of times, mostly at the grocery store and once when you had gone to the beach for the day. They had been leaving when you were just getting there and Paul had introduced you to his new girlfriend, but the way he couldn't take his eyes off her let you know it was something so much more. Jared kept trying to introduce you to his other friend, but apparently you and this so-called Sam just kept missing each other.
And it isn't until one drizzly day that you finally meet him.
You sleep in a little later than usual, the overcast sky and drizzling rain keeping you in a sleepy state. Then when you feel like you've laid in long enough, you get up and take the warmest shower you can before dressing cozy and curling up on your couch. Nothing on TV seems to catch your attention, so you turn it off and head into your kitchen. You're not particularly hungry, but you find yourself wanting to make something. So opening up your pantry, you find that you have all the ingredients you need to bake to your heart's content.
With your hair twisted up into a bun and the sleeves of your sweater pushed up to your elbows, you're mixing together the second batch of muffins as the first batch cools next to a peach cobbler. You've been in the baking zone, listening to the distant rumbling thunder, that when there's knocking on your front door it startles you into letting loose a yelp.
There's a bark of laughter before you hear the door creaking open and Paul and Jared walk in, both shirtless and in cut-off jean shorts. A third walks in behind them, this one unfamiliar, but you keep your attention on the two you do know.
Huffing, you set aside the bowl and pick up a washcloth to clean off your hands as you walk around the kitchen counter. "If you catch a cold, I am not helping you. Only idiots would run around barefoot in this type of weather we're having right now."
"Oooh, those muffins free game?" Jared asks, completely ignoring your words and walking around you. "I'm starving."
"Do I smell peach cobbler?" Paul then wonders, doing the same as his friend.
"Hey!" The third individual barks, Paul and Jared freezing at his tone. "Manners."
You smirk as the boys shift nervously and then look towards the still unknown man. "Thank you. You, my well mannered friend, are more than welcome to the snacks. I'm Y/N, by the way."
As he meets your gaze, his small smile falters. His eyes seem to subtly widen, his expression goes lax, and there's an instant connection with this man- a sense of warmth and comfort rushing through you. He feels like.. like home.
You blink and then.. oh. You know exactly what this is and while a little part of you is nervous because you hadn't planned to tell anyone other than the tribal elders what you were, you're also kind of excited.
"Sam?" Paul wonders, he and Jared snickering.
The second you break eye contact with him, he seems to come back to himself. Clearing his throat, he nods at you. "Sam. I'm Sam Uley." He then glares at the boys before sheepishly glancing at you once more.
You flash him a small smile. "Nice to finally meet you Sam Uley. Jared doesn't shut up about you."
"Hey!" The muffled response causes you to look at the boy in question and you roll your eyes fondly when you see his cheeks puffed out with the remains of a muffin he'd eaten when you weren't paying attention.
"So what brings you boys over here?" You ask as you walk back into the kitchen, whipping Jared with a small towel and shooing him towards the table.
"Just wanted to see how you were dealing with our weather," Paul says. "Now can I please have some of this cobbler? It smells really good."
"Have you eaten lunch yet? All that sweet is going to ruin your appetite."
Jared snorts as he takes a seat at the table. "Nothing can ruin our appetites. Trust me."
Paul is still eyeing the cobbler so you sigh and wave him on. "Go ahead. I'm sure you can find the plates and utensils." Then looking towards Sam, you smile. "Would you like to take a seat? There are brown sugar muffins, chocolate chip muffins and peach cobbler if you're interested."
"I, uh, yeah." He grins at you. "I'd like that."
Sam, Paul and Jared take over your kitchen table and instead of being annoyed you can't help but feel a bit of fondness for them. You're well aware of what the connection you had with Sam was and you wonder how long it'll take him to come clean to you since it's obvious all three at your table are shifters- Sam obviously being the alpha.
But putting that off for now, you walk into your kitchen and place some muffins in a bowl to take to the table. Jared is all too happy to immediately start digging in and Paul looks absolutely blissed out as he shovels bite after bite of peach cobbler into his mouth. Sam shakes his head at the two of them, but you find it all rather amusing.
Taking a muffin for himself and eating at a leisurely pace, Sam asks, "So how do you know the boys?"
"Sue and Harry introduced us when they brought over my bed," you tell him. Grabbing a few bottled waters from the refrigerator, you walk them over to the table and take a seat yourself. "Between you and me, I think the only reason Harry introduced us was because I'm a female living by myself. He wants me to have people in my corner should something ever happen."
Sam glances between you and the boys, and seeing as you're not offended he allows himself to chuckle. "Yeah. That sounds like Harry. He's good people."
"Oh for sure," you muse. "I kind of have this sense about people. I can tell who's a good and who's a bad one."
"Oh really?" Paul looks up long enough to spot the waters and take one for himself. "What do you sense about us?"
Jared freezes, Sam tenses and Paul smirks as he takes a gulp of his water. You lean back in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest, and smirk. "Honestly? I get a sense you and Jared are going to be giant pains in my ass."
Jared laughs, but Paul continues to smugly hold your gaze. "And what about Sam?"
Your gaze slides over to Sam who looks equal parts ready to strangle Paul and wondering what your answer is going to be. Eyes twinkling, you say, "That's to be determined."
Tumblr media
Now that you'd officially met Sam and he imprinted on you- though you weren't supposed to know that- it seemed like he was everywhere. You run into him at the grocery store, at the local health clinic, and at the beach. And then sometimes all three of them would show up on your porch to check up on you, but mostly to raid your kitchen.
Usually when you run into them you run into all three, so as you're sitting on the beach and just soaking in the peace, you're surprised to see Sam approaching all on his lonesome.
"This seat taken?" He asks, gesturing to the empty half of the blanket you're sitting on.
You grin up at him. "Do my eyes deceive me or are you actually wearing long sleeves and jeans?"
"Ha ha," he deadpans. Toeing off his boots, Sam steps onto your blanket and sits next to you. He grins at you before looking out to the restless ocean. "So what brings you out here on this cool afternoon?"
You shrug. "Nothing really. Just felt like listening to the waves. You?"
"Same. Had some free time so I figured I'd come out here to decompress. Spotting you was just a bonus."
"Flattery will get you everywhere, Mr. Uley."
Sam chuckles as he softly nudges you with his shoulder. You smile back at him, only to then look back out at the ocean. There's a moment where you and Sam just bask in the stillness of conversation before he's nudging you once more. "So tell me something, Y/N. What brought you out here to La Push?"
"I don't know if I want to tell you," you jokingly admit. "You'll think it's lame."
"No I won't. Come on, tell me."
Glancing at Sam you know you're in trouble at the sight of his small smile and the crinkles at the corners of his eyes. You keep his gaze, sigh with a fond roll of your eyes, and he chuckles knowing full well you've caved. "Have you ever felt like you didn't belong? That something was missing from your life and, even though you had a pretty good life, you knew there was something out in the world you were destined to find?"
"Not until recently," he replies quietly.
Sam's gaze darts all over your face before darting down to your lips and your heart skips a beat. "I, uh," you pause and awkwardly clear your throat, leaning sideways away from Sam for a moment to clear your head. "I didn't feel complete for a long time," you say. "So after finishing high school and working a few years to save up some cash, I packed all the things I couldn't live without and hopped into my truck. I drove in whatever direction felt right to me and it wasn't until I crossed into La Push territory that it felt like I could breathe properly. It was weird." Well not really now that you know why you were drawn to La Push, but you couldn't exactly tell him that. Not yet.
"That's not lame at all. That's- well I can kind of relate," he says. When you glance at Sam, his faint grin morphs into a smirk. "I'm glad you found what you were looking for here in La Push, Y/N. It seems everyone here has taken a shine to you."
"What can I say," you muse, batting your eyelashes at him, "I'm a very likable person." Sam's phone dings before he can retort and he offers you a sheepish smile as he pulls it out of his pocket. He reads whatever's on his screen and sighs, looking at you with an apology in his eyes. "Go. It's fine. We can always catch up another time. You do, after all, know where I live."
Sam nods and pulls his boots to himself, slipping them on his feet and lacing up. "Do you, uh, maybe want to grab something to eat sometime?"
His stammering and avoidance of your gaze makes you smile. You hum, drawing out your answer before saying, "Like one on one or a group thing?"
He shrugs. "More like a date thing."
"Sam Uley," you chuckle. "Asking me on a date and breaking hearts all across the Rez. Who would've guessed.." When he's finally brave enough to meet your gaze, you smile. "It's a date, Sam. Just let me know when and where."
Tumblr media
A date with Sam consisted of dinner at an Italian restaurant in Port Angeles. You had figured it'd be as awkward as first dates normally were, but from the moment he picked you up to the moment he dropped you off at your front porch and warmly pressed a kiss to your cheek, it was as if you and Sam had been doing this for ages. The conversation had flowed easily with quiet laughter here and there, and then you went for a walk around Port Angeles before deciding to call it a night.
The boys, when they took notice of you greeting Sam with a kiss to the cheek, took great pleasure in teasing the two of you. You could tell Sam was wary about it upsetting you, but you merely withheld food from the boys and they were quick to cut it out.
Sam slowly started to show up more often on his own, the casual touches turning into lingering touches, and it wasn't long until those on the Rez realized Sam was no longer on the market. Which was something Sue Clearwater was clearly ecstatic for, but it also led her to constantly nag you into telling Sam your secret since he was clearly struggling with admitting his own.
You've just gotten home from the grocery store, unloading the groceries when Sam pulls up.
Pausing in hauling the bags inside, you wait for Sam. He hops out of his own truck, grinning when he catches sight of you. "Hey, handsome. What are you doing?"
"Missed you." He leans down to kiss the corner of your mouth and you pout when he pulls away. He chuckles and takes the bags from your arms, grabbing another three from the backseat. "You have a good day?"
"It was decent." You shut the door to your truck, walking side by side with Sam up to your front door. Unlocking it, you push it open and let Sam walk in first. "I visited with Sue for a bit at the clinic and took the patients some goodies. What about you?"
"Decent. Got started on a table and chairs this couple want for their kitchen. Made good progress on it without Jared bugging me and Paul."
You laugh at the slight annoyance in Sam's features when he talks about Jared bugging him, but you know deep down that Sam would do anything for both Jared and Paul. He was just lucky right now since Jared was in his last year of high school and he had school five days out of the week which left Sam and Paul enough time to work without being pestered.
With Sam helping you, all the groceries are put away within a couple of minutes. You sigh with exhaustion, but a smile stays on your face because of the company you have. Sam walks over to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and bringing you in against his chest. You sigh again, this time in contentment, and wrap your arms around his waist.
"Wanna take a nap?"
"Oh god," you groan. "Yes please."
Sam chuckles as you drag him to the living room, the sofa big enough to comfortably nap on. You both kick your shoes off and you impatiently wait for Sam to lay down and get comfortable before you lay down in front of him. With your back against his chest and his arm wrapped securely around your waist so you don't fall off, you close your eyes and listen to Sam's breathing to lull you to sleep.
Minutes pass and then, "Y/N?"
"Hmm?"
"I, uh, I need to tell you something."
Your eyes fly open. Is this it? Is this when he tells me he's a shifter? "Okay.."
"But I can't tell you until after the bonfire which I'm hoping you'll attend with me tonight."
Oh. "A bonfire sounds nice," you admit. "But whatever you have to tell me isn't bad, is it? Because now I'm going to be worried about it for the rest of the day."
Sam's laughter rumbles from behind you. "Nah. You have nothing to worry about. Get some rest, sweetheart. We deserve it."
          - - - - - - - - - -
You and Sam fall asleep longer than you had anticipated, and it takes Paul barging into your house and startling you awake to realize how much time has passed. You remain grumpy and half asleep the entire time Sam tells you about the appropriate clothing for the beach bonfire, which Paul finds absolutely hilarious, and he only shut ups about it when you threaten to make him walk back to the beach since he had apparently walked to your house.
When you get to the beach, Sam takes your hand in his and you smile at him before he leads you to where there's already a roaring fire dancing under the night sky. There's a small group gathered around, but the ones who stick out to you the most are the tribal elders who appear as if they're holding court. Sam sits you on a log close to the fire before asking if you want anything and at your furrowed brow he gestures to the table of food that's dwindling down by the minute.
As you tell Sam you only want a hot drink, he leaves you be and you watch as everyone mingles. From across the fire Harry gives you a nod in greeting and you nod back. Your eyes are drawn to Paul who is wrapped around his girlfriend and you can't help but smile at how smitten he is with her. Jared is tossing chips at some young boy, the two of them running around as another unknown female watches them with fond exasperation.
All too soon Sam is taking a seat next to you, thigh to thigh, as his left arm goes around your shoulders after handing you a steaming cup of hot chocolate. You smile at him before snuggling into his warmth and blowing on your drink. Then when everyone settles down and Harry starts talking, you realize he's telling the legends about the Quileute Spirit Warriors.
You've heard the legends about the spirit warriors and cold ones, but never in such great detail and you're absolutely enthralled.
Afterwards, after being introduced to several more people and Sam dropping you back off at home, he walks you up to the porch. His hands are tucked deep into his pockets and he sighs, and you can just tell something is on his mind.
Grinning, you grab him by his belt loops and pull him closer to you. "What's wrong? I could hear you thinking on the drive here."
"Nothing." He automatically shakes his head. You raise an eyebrow at him and he exhales quietly. "I just- I'm curious as to what you thought about the bonfire. Only certain people have the special privilege of attending and I-"
"I loved it." You're quick to assure him. 'And I'm honored I was able to sit in."
"You didn't think it was odd? People turning into giant wolves and cold ones draining people."
You shake your head, smiling fondly. "Sam, I love learning about other cultures and their legends. Honestly, I had an amazing time." His shoulders sag in relief and you chuckle. "So do you want to tell me what else is on your mind?"
He shakes his head. "Maybe another time." His hands reach up to cradle your face and he brings you in to press a kiss to your forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow morning."

As the weeks pass, your happiness with Sam starts to dwindle under the pressure of his secret. For some reason, coming out and telling you all that you heard at the bonfire was true was harder than he had imagined. Of course you could have told him your secret to ease him into telling you his, but you were holding back as well.
Sue and Harry have had enough, however, after Sam snaps at Paul and Jared and starts straining the bond between the three of them. So sitting outside of your house, you wait for Sam to show up. If he won't tell you he's alpha of the Quileute pack, then you'll tell him your own secret and see what happens then.
Sam shows up on time and as he exits his truck, you stand up and walk towards the edge of the porch. He smiles in greeting, but you can see the strain behind it and you sigh. Immediately you wrap your arms around him, pressing your cheek against his chest.
"Come inside with me. I need to show you something."
"Uh oh. Should I be worried?" He says.
"Not at all." You pull back from him, pecking his lips. "But I am worried about how you're going to take it."
Sam's small smile falters, but you don't have any reassuring words for him. Now that it's out in the open about you having a secret too, you can see why Sam held back. It's scary. But it's out there now and there's no way in hell you're going to back out. So grabbing hold of one of Sam's hands, you turn around to lead him inside.
You lead Sam into your bedroom and gesture for him to take a seat on one side of your bed while you sit across from him. With one leg hanging off the side of the bed and your other curled inward, you grab one of your pillows and strip the cover off of it. "Can you rip it open?"
Sam huffs. "What? You want me to rip apart your pillow?"
"Yeah. I just- the feathers," you mutter. "Trust me." He stares at you a moment longer before grabbing your pillow and ripping the top sheet layer of it. You grin and reach in, scooping out a handful of the white and gray feathers. "So, um, please don't hate me."
"Hate you? I can never hate you, Y/N."
"You say that now, but-" Heart pounding, you lay the feathers down down on the bed right in front of your leg. Your hands tremble, but you're quick to shake it out and take a breath. Your smile wobbles as you briefly meet Sam's gaze and then you hold your hands just above the feathers. Concentrating deeply on them, you slowly lift your hands and the feathers slowly follow. You hear Sam sharply inhale as the feathers levitate and then start to twirl in a circular motion. "So, um, I'm a witch," you admit. "And to make things easier for you, I already know the secret you've been struggling to tell me."
"H-How?"
Your hands drop and you finally meet Sam's astonished gaze. "My coven's grimoire. It's filled with all sorts of knowledge of every supernatural creature out there and, though the passage on the spirit warriors of the Quileute tribe wasn't as detailed as what Harry said around the bonfire, it was enough to clue me in on what you, Paul, and Jared were the second I laid eyes on you. Well that and the fact the tribal elders told me when I asked their permission to live on the Rez."
Sam huffs and then does the unexpected. He reaches across your gutted pillow and tugs on your arm until you're crawling over and onto his lap. He holds you tight, chuckling quietly, and shoves his face into the side of your neck. You hesitantly wrap your arms back around him, sighing in relief. "You really should have told me sooner. It's been killing me not telling you about us."
"Yeah, well it's going to get a whole lot easier." He pulls back then, staring at you warily. "I know about the imprint thing too."
Sam's eyes widen. "You do?"
"Yep. Witches don't necessarily have mates, but we do have a sense of things. Since I came into my magic, there had always been a part of me that was searching for something."
"Yeah. Yeah I remember you mentioning that," Sam says.
"Well that something was you." The confession makes you nervously shift in his lap. "Whatever it was, it led me here to La Push. And then I saw you and.. I don't know. You felt like comfort. And home. And I knew-"
Sam cuts you off, grasping your chin between his fingers and facing you towards him. His lips press against yours and it takes a moment for your mind to be brought up to speed as to what's going on. When it does, you gasp and Sam smiles against your lips.
"Don't laugh at me," you mumble. "You caught me off guard."
Sam chuckles, his smile wide and eyes crinkling at the corners. It's one of his more genuine smiles and it feels like this huge weight has been lifted off your chest. "So the alpha and his witch," he muses. "The boys are going to be in for a shock."
"I was thinking more along the lines of the witch and her companion, but the alpha and the witch works too." You lean in and press your lips to his, once, twice, and then one more time. "And can we hold off on telling the boys? I kind of want to shock them with the reveal."
"Sure thing, sweetheart. We'll go at your pace."
"My pace, huh? I like the sound of that."

There had been an unspoken thing between you and Thomas from the first day you met. It was one of those right person, wrong time scenarios. Both of you were happily taken by other people, loving your partners, and leading healthy relationships. It simply hadn't been meant to be and both of you had gladly accepted it. Nothing had ever happened, despite the others insisting there must have, neither of you was like that. So you stayed friends with him, the same way you stayed friends with Victoria, Damiano, and Ethan and it didn't take long for the five of you to grow into a loving group, a chosen family. That was until both you and Thomas happened to have broken up with your respective partners within the same week. It was safe to say that it didn't take long for the meddling to start.
***
"I just think they'd make such a good couple!" Victoria said, pushing the empty beer bottles around on the table in annoyance. "They're basically made for each other."
"Leave it, Vic," Ethan said. The dark of the bar was hiding his features and the fact he was slightly rolling his eyes. "They both literally just got out of relationships, I don't think they're interested."
"But they both ended them so it's not like they've been broken up with," she insisted. "I'm sure they'll get over it quickly enough."
"Yeah I agree with Vic," Damiano added. "It's not like either of them seems all that heartbroken."
"Exactly, which is why we need to act now!"
"I still don't think it's a good idea," Ethan sighed. "Just let them figure it out on their own."
"But they're idiots! They'll never figure it out!"
Damiano couldn't help laugh out loud. He knew his friend was onto something, both Thomas and Y/n tended to be hilariously oblivious when it came to things like these.
"Maybe they just need a little push," he agreed.
"Fine." A deep sigh escaped Ethan. "But don't say I didn't warn you if it doesn't work out."
***
The moment you stepped into the vintage second-hand store you decided it was heaven on earth. It didn't take long for you to sweep through the place like a whirlwind, picking up pieces left and right, leaving Victoria and Thomas standing at the entrance still. You didn't care, this was one of your favourite places and you were not going to be held back because those two were slow. You tried on a dress that looked like an absolute mess on you and you quickly took a picture to laugh at later with the others, before trying on some trousers that you really took a liking to. You were still in them, trying to figure out if you had also grabbed a top that would match when someone knocked on the wood of the changing room. Confused and not certain if the noise was directed at you, you pulled back the curtain to come face to face with Thomas. He noticed you were in your bra before you did.
You raised your eyebrows, overly amused at how he was nervously looking around to figure out if anyone else would be able to see her, but no one seemed to be around. As he turned back, he tried not to let his gaze fall into her chest again, but failed miserably. You laughed heartily, "It's fine, stop blushing, Thomas."
He grinned, more relaxed not that he knew you didn't mind. He shouldn't, this being far from the first time he'd seen you like this.
"Vic told me to give you this dress to try on."
You looked at the piece of fabric he handed you, a gorgeous, velvety black, knee-high dress with a dangerous slit and a plunging neckline. It wasn't something you would have chosen yourself, but you trusted Vic's judgment. The curtain was quickly closed again, removing the trousers you had already decided on and slipped on the dress. It fell in a much nicer way than you had anticipated, easily smoothing itself over your curves and settling perfectly in place. The mirror agreed with your sentiment - you looked gorgeous. Okay, so this dress would do with a bit more makeup and without a bra, but it was a no-brainer that you were going to buy it.
You ripped open the curtain, now facing both of your friends. As soon as Vic saw you, she seemed as smitten with it as you were. Thomas looked stunned in his own way but stayed quiet.
"Fuck, I knew that was your dress!" Victoria shouted, obviously proud of herself for picking it out.
"Where am I ever going to wear this?" You asked, spinning to muster your reflection once again.
"When I take you out tomorrow night," Vic grinned. "There's a gorgeous new restaurant in town but it's fancy fancy, so this will do just fine."
You couldn't help but squint your eyes at her through the mirror. Her suggestion sounded just fine, but the way her eyes flickered made you feel like there was something more to the story.
***
"Wait, so how will you going out with her to dinner help, exactly?"
"Oh, Damiano, stop being so dumb. Obviously, I won't go."
"I don't get it."
"I'll have some sort of last-minute emergency, and since both of you will be out of the house, Thomas will have to step in."
Ethan sighed, shaking his head at his friend's plan.
"Why do you have to meddle so much, Vic?"
"Because those two don't get it. But once they see each other all dressed up, romantic dinner, candles, good wine, it'll click."
"Whatever you say."
***
"Oh my god, Y/n, I'm so sorry!" Victoria burst into your room, Chili cradled in her arms and an apologetic look on her face. "I know we said we'd go to that fancy restaurant tonight, but Chili's been coughing and the vet told me to come in immediately."
You side-eyed the little white dog, looking as happy as can be, but there was no reason for you not to trust Victoria. Right? You briefly petted Chili's head.
"Don't worry about it, we can always go some other time."
"No!" Her outburst surprised you. "I mean, it's so difficult to get a reservation there and you should wear your dress out. Damiano and Ethan are out, but I'm pretty sure Thomas is free, please ask him, he'd probably love to go with you!"
You wanted to scold Victoria, tell her this wasn't happening, tell her you'd be fine just staying home, but she didn't give you a chance to do any of it. Instead, she left your room, immediately shouting for her bandmate. It was the reason you found yourself at a candlelit dinner with the blond man mere hours later.
"You look amazing, by the way," Thomas said. Well, he actually kind of mumbled it into his pasta rather than proudly state it. You felt like blushing.
"So do you, love. But you know I love you in a suit."
Your eyes met, just for a moment, before both of you found yourselves awkwardly staring back at your plates again. You didn't know why you were behaving like this, or why he was, you could only attribute it to the fact that this felt like an overly romantic date and the waiter had referred to you as his girlfriend multiple times already. Neither of you had corrected him. You hadn't minded the single rose that had been placed between you on the table, accompanied by a little wink and a smile by the waiter.
"You know, you make a lousy boyfriend, not even bringing me flowers for our date, " you teased, watching as a shy smile appeared on Thomas' face, his eyes travelling down the table for a second before looking at you again with more than a twinkle.
"I did take you to the nicest restaurant in town, surely that gets me some points?"
The giggle bubbled over your lips easily. Everything came easy with Thomas. He made the troubles disappear with one look, one touch of a hand, a single word, a gesture, his existence. He was your own personal cure to everything.
***
"No, I'm telling you, it worked," Victoria excitedly gasped and she gathered in the kitchen with Damiano and Ethan, trying to stay as inconspicuous as possible. "You should have seen them when they came back!"
"Did you actually wait up for them?" Ethan asked, slightly disbelieving, slightly amused.
"Well, they didn't know obviously! I just cracked my bedroom door open a bit. But they were all giggly and happy and they hugged when they said goodnight!"
"Vic, we all hug all the time," Damiano threw in.
"Not the way they did. I'm serious, this is working and you'll see soon enough!"
"So what's the next idea then?"
"I'm... I'm not quite sure," she admitted. "But I'll figure it out and it'll be perfect."
***
The thunderstorm hadn't been predicted by any of the weather channels. You found yourself standing in front of the patio doors with Thomas, watching the heavy rain disturb the surface or the pool, trees swaying in the wind, a flash of light illuminating the garden in regular intervals. It had only been the two of you home when it had started, everyone else out to meet friends or sitting in a bar with a drink in their hand. You had been having a lazy day, unwilling to leave the house at all, while Thomas had slept for so long no one had bothered trying to wake him so he could join in on plans.
"Do you want to compare our favourite records?"
You had been so focused on the happenings outside of the glass that you almost flinched in surprise at his question. Still, a slight smile, the right kind of look, and you were nodding enthusiastically. Hasting up the stairs, barefoot and in nothing but shorts and the shirt you usually slept in, you went through the little collection you had brought to the summer house, already hearing the first notes of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog echoing downstairs. With a smile on your face, you grabbed a few records and bolted back down to Thomas.
"I still prefer Led Zeppelin III," you giggled, only to be greeted with Thomas' shocked face. "Anything that has Immigrant Song on it is a hit, really."
"Blasphemy! Nothing tops IV, and you clearly have no taste."
"You clearly have no taste considering you think anything Led Zeppelin has put out is better than Fleetwood Mac's Rumours." You barely waited for the first song of Thomas' album of choice to finish playing before interrupting it with the sound of Second Hand News.
It didn't take long for the conversation to get heated. Still, you kept playing your record in the background, effortlessly dodging his effort to change it, even though the whole thing had been his idea in the first place. He was still complaining, explaining, talking to a wall basically, as you danced around the living room, as the music flowed through you, singing along, thunder only happens when it's raining, as the weather outside did its worst.
"I just think it's much too sad, most of it," Thomas finally concluded.
"Doesn't that just make it so beautiful though?"
"No, it just makes me sad," he pouted.
"Maybe you just never listened to it the way you should. In the arms of someone you love."
A heartbeat passed as both of you looked at each other, but then your smile returned and you motioned for him to get on the sofa with you, lying on your side as he slowly but surely moved in front of you. Your arms wrapped around him, spooning him, making you feel safer than you ever have as Songbird played in quiet tones.
Your nose buried itself in his hair, letting his smell fill your every pore, taking over your whole being as you pressed into him, singing along in nothing but a whisper.
"And I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before."
***
"Guys, guys, guys, look at that!" Victoria called out to her friends as they quietly made their way into the house. "I knew it would be such a good idea to leave them alone in the house!"
"Vic, it's not like you made a thunderstorm come along, I'm pretty sure this was not your doing for once," Damiano whispered.
"Doesn't matter! Look at them spooning! We're on the right way, guys!"
"We're not on any way," Ethan threw in. "You keep trying to meddle and the two of them are going their own ways."
"They just need another push. I just gotta think of something."
***
"Hey, they let you feed the goats here!" Victoria squealed as everyone around her let out a groan. The zoo was bustling with people, the five friends surrounded by families, and Vic easily fell in line with the children's excitement.
"Vic, I really really don't like goats," you complained. "I'd rather not get their attention because I got food in my hands."
"Fine. How about you go see the owls over there with... Thomas, and I go feed some adorable goats with Ethan and Damiano?"
The both of you allowed yourselves to be pushed away easily, chuckles on your faces as you walked away from the rest of the group, dodging running toddlers as you went.
"So, this is a set-up, huh?" Thomas grinned next to you as his arm slid around your waist, pulling you closer.
"Oh, as if Victoria has been doing anything these past weeks without hidden intentions." You let yourself mold into Thomas' side, leaning in closer until your bodies were touching as much as physically possible. "She's not half as subtle about this as she thinks. I'm sure she's watching right now."
You didn't turn around, but you felt her eyes on the pair of you, watching your every move and trying to figure out what was going on between the two of you.
"Do you wanna give her a show?" You playfully pinched his site, looking at him from the corner of your eyes just to see a smile appear on his face that was surely mirroring yours. "Make out a little bit?"
"Wouldn't that give it away?" He stopped walking, now wrapping both of his arms around you as you leaned on his chest, looking up at him.
"I'm sure she'd still think it's just a first step in the right direction."
Not waiting for his response, your hand reached up to his face, slowly stroking along the soft skin of his cheek, thumb running over his lower lip as his smile grew, then reaching around, tangling them into his hair and pulling him down to you. His lips met yours in a sigh, warm and lovely, a tingling feeling spreading through you immediately, pressing yourself into him. You could feel his thumb stroking your back ever so slightly as he held you. He wanted more, slowly moving his lips, trying to deepen the kiss, but you pulled away. Close enough to still feel his breath on you, close enough that whispering would be enough.
"Now, we don't want Vic to figure it all out immediately," you grinned before putting more distance between the two of you. He groaned, making you giggle, before taking your hand and pulling you along.
"How much longer are you planning to keep this up?" Thomas asked, shaking his head, but still amused. "We've been together for two weeks."
"Pretty sure she already bought tickets for the cinema for me and her for Wednesday... which she'll inexplicably have no time for so you'll have to come along, obviously. I can give you a hickey in the dark theater, she'll freak."
Thomas laughed out loud, pressing a single kiss to the top of your head.
"Fine. One more date, that's it?"
"One more date."
