#/vent#personal#internets#like you can see the attempts to not vent and focus on the positive availed me nothing#this is just really annoying how people are outright not seeing the hypocricy of the whole thing#i perpetually feel like i've finished a quest people normally take years on early and now i just... wait here. all alone.#for other people to catch up with seeing the Whole Thing.#unfortunately you only really GET this when either you face this attitude or someone you know does#there is just an illusion that if you sit quietly and nod along the witch-hunters will not touch you#but honestly the only way to really be safe is to become just like them#because again autonomy is a reason to lose interest in being your friend at least and reason to shun you at most#ugh... i really really REALLY do not know what to search for to make me focus on GOOD things#it boils down to bugging my friends to send me good drawings or funny memes to reblog#or to urgently shutting internet down because over two vents per day is kind of an overkill#i just do not understand why the hypocricy of the witch hunters is not painfully obvious#how much more obviously bad things can get than the pure desperation to remove the person for merely the failure to control them?#the silver lining i guess is that trying so hard means i really get on their nerves.#i am just frustrated#how many years should pass until people come to me and say 'hey you was right and btw they bullied me too xD'#like they kept coming to Mico after having previously tossed him away too#they always come back but it is always too late and always at the expense of them facing the witch hunt too!#what it takes a mf to learn from mistakes of others and not their own?#i will just... stay here. and wait. until people realise the corruption of the Whole Thing.#sometimes i wish i myself had more time to be naive

⊹ㅤfor you | equestrian club
Tumblr media Tumblr media
premise. in an annual tournament they scoured the crowd for a sight of their favorite person. once they saw you—they knew. and the moment they win, it would dedicated to you.
note. this is gonna be a little series I guess? next is basketball club lol but I'll probs work on 'kiss your bestfriend' for scarabia before that
Tumblr media
riddle rosehearts
resolve to win is basically rock hard once he saw you in the crowd cheering so loud that he knew you were gonna lose your voice the day after. if riddle wasn't confident he was gonna win he certainly is now.
if he didn't he doesn't know how he's gonna recover from the embarrassment.
I mean of course he's a little pressured now knowing that you're watching so the stakes are a little higher than usual. on the opposing horse, the other person is probably equally confused and mortified by the change of look in his eyes 😰
it's sharper, and definitely most focused. if they didn't know any better, riddle would definitely do anything to snatch that win.
he's torn. like, lowkey; fuck morals and the rules I will run over this sign to get a short cut. cause he really wants to impress you but figured it's a less,,, modest way of doing it.
the other is like normal riddle; how could I ever think about breaking the rules 😡
suprise suprise. his demeanor alone intimidated his opponents and threw them off so he won!
there's over 3 awards from tournaments like these in his dorm but he can't but feel like this one was more memorable than ever.
surpassing his usual limits. it's all because of you, because you pushed him over his bounds this win is for you. he thinks. riddle smiles with his cheeks.
to celebrate... shouldn't he take you out tonight haha...
silver
despite being a little woozy on a horse, silver proves to be a strong contender. lowkey pissing off his enemies with how little regard he seemed to give the competition.
I mean man just looked fresh out of a nap on that goddamn horse!
even though silver looks like he's trying his best (of which you know he is.) comparing him to his teammates would result in silver landing a close second in regards to focus. riddle of course first, he's taking it seriously. sebek on the other hand is confident enough in his abilities to know he's gonna win, therefore he doesn't really care.
silver? well he's just in the silver lining (ha, ha.)
though all the sleep seems to have left him the moment he catches your eyes in the crowd. there's quite literally hundreds of other people and even you don't know how he saw you. he just did, silver admits you have some kind of pull to you that he can't rid of.
which he of course doesn't wanna sever! he's just saying.
even from a little distance you can see his beautiful eyes sparkle in recognition and joy. hell, it's one of the moments you've seen silver express himself even if it isn't verbally. his lips quirk up, his eyes grow a little bit wider and his shoulders square up higher.
as much as silver would just love to relish in his happiness he had a competition to win.
(oh god he had a competition to win! and you're literally in the stands.)
with more fervor anyone's seen in a while it's like his horse understands his sentiment because it quite literally makes a loud 'neigh' battle, war cry of sort and zoom past everyone else.
silver doesn't even approach the stage because once he crosses the line he casually leaps off and jogs towards you. completely disregarding the host in hand with a trophy and medal that would have rightfully belonged to him.
why would he? the only embodiment of his win is right over there. (you.)
sebek zigvolt
of course the statement a few bullets I made over this one is not to underestimate the unmistakable fact that sebek does take the competition more seriously than he let's on.
in terms of focus he just gets distracted but he's going for the win.
but.
out of everyone sebek is most confident in the fact that he'll win. not because the equestrian of NRC has won plenty of times in the past, but because of the fact that it means that as a fae, he'll be representing briar valley in a way.
and in a way he's representing malleus draconia and sebek would never do anything to shame the young master. because all of his wins are dedicated to his glory.
but as many wins he's dedicated to the young lord he can never seem to catch him in the crowd.
sebek does not hold that fact against him. never, because he knows the hassle of being a heir to a kingdom and if attending his competitions meant stealing away the young lords precious time then he won't care. (though sebek believes that his master's faith will be with him without a physical form.) besides, lilia is there and that's all he needs.
he would like to convince himself that when he sees you he bubbles in what he called 'annoyance'. (later on lilia tells him how pleasantly surprised he was with a giggle.) he grips the bridle tighter with an increasingly warming face.
the onlookers spare him a weird look once they realize his tightly contorted face.
what in gods name are you doing here?! sebek never invited you!
agh whatever! he doesn't have time to ponder about a human out of all things. if he wastes it then he'll lose right here and then. sebek doesn't question the sudden burst of energy that accompanies his core but immediately huffs proudly when he crosses first, riddle passing by a few seconds later and sparing him an acknowledgement of a nod.
(interesting. in equestrian sebek has never gotten that much precise control over the path of his horse, which meant versus riddle he never won.) except this time apparently. riddle wonders what changed.
sebek doesn't spare you an action of a turn because he can hear you with his glorious ears from the fae lineage. he casts you a smirk. "did you see me? that is the glory of briar valley," he says simply. "and we do not need your support to win," he adds even though it was not needed.
you raise a brow. "we?"
"yes! were you not cheering for silver and rosehearts just now?" he shakes his head at you. oh this idiot.
"sebek," you say seriously with a laugh. "I went here for you, silly,"
oh.
oh.
steam comically pours out of sebek's ears as he bursts into a fit of splutters and denial. for the first time sebek is flabbergasted by the fact that someone came to cheer him on besides lilia and his admittedly huge signs.
point is you were here and for a moment sebek forgot about his constant wonders of malleus' whereabouts. because you were here.
for once sebek thinks he's won something not in the face of his master nor home. he flushes with a furious look on his face. it isn't so bad...
yes it is!! a part of his mind replies.
notes. OK OK so last song reccs post I had was quite a long time ago so here I am :)) these are more calming songs to listen to but definitely bangers

what about a reader who's *painfully* obvious about their attraction to sev but they still awkwardly try to play it off?
"wow sevika, your shirt looks so.." *trails off with their eyes focused on her exposed waist until they snap out of it* "i really love the color..!"
PLEASEE
men and minors dni
the thing is, you're fooling nobody except yourself.
you're certain that your attraction to sevika is practically undetectable and you're completely subtle about it.
because you always manage to catch yourself before you say something obvious! like three weeks ago when sevika caught you staring at her ass where she bent over to line a shot up on the pool table, and you quickly told her that her pants were 'very flattering.'
or the time you blinked up into her sparkling silver eyes and almost told her they were 'dreamy' but caught yourself halfway through and told her 'your eyes are so d--dope.'
there's no way she knows.
right?
wrong.
sevika finds you absolutely fucking adorable. she fell in love with you the first time you told her her arms looked strong enough to 'pick me-- i mean, pick a lot of shit up.'
now, she's just waiting for you to slip up in front of her so she can tease you until you're a stuttering mess, and then kiss you about it.
but the thing is, you always fucking catch yourself. no matter how awkwardly.
you almost call sevika 'fine as fuck' but you catch yourself halfway though and it comes out "sevika, you look fine aaaaat flying. you'd, probably make a great pilot. v-very focused and stuff."
sometimes, you see her and the word 'pretty' just slips out of your mouth. but you always manage to add on something else, right before it gets weird. "pretty... uh, pretty cool mech arm you got sev."
it's driving sevika crazy, because she's desperate for you to slip up so she can get her hands on you.
it's also driving her crazy, because you seem to be under the impression that you're the smoothest, suavest fucker in all of zaun. she's dying to embarrass you just a bit.
but you never slip up! it's fucking annoying!
so, eventually, sevika decides to take matters into her own hands.
she's walking you home one night, and as she drops you off, you say go to say goodbye to her.
"bye sev, be safe walking home." you say. she smiles and nods, and turns to leave, and right before she does, you speak again. "love-- l-love your, uh, your new choker by the way. it's really cute." you say, catching yourself.
sevika turns back around, eyeing you. you gulp.
"that's it?" she asks. you blink.
"whaddya mean?" you ask.
"i mean, is that all you love?" she asks. your eyes bulge out of your head, and you stutter.
"i-i-i-i don't know what you're, uh, what you're talking ab--"
"oh, damn." she says, dramatically slumping her shoulders and sighing. "i was hoping maybe there was something going on between us. guess i was wrong." she says, shrugging and turning to leave.
you grab her wrist before she can go. "i love you!" you shout. "uh... i mean..." you gulp, your eyes darting around as you try to figure out how to worm yourself out of this one. sevika doesn't give you a chance though, because the second the words leave your lips, she's stepping into your space, cupping your jaw in her hands, and pressing her lips against yours.
you gasp against her, and she hums against you, and when she pulls away, she's wearing a cocky smile. "i know." she says. "you're pretty fuckin' obvious." she says.
you groan, your head falling down to rest on her shoulder as you try to hide your embarrassment. sevika just laughs and kisses your head.
"it's okay. i think it's cute." she says. "though... i might be a bit biased, seeing as i love you too and all..." she says.
you gasp again, your head snapping up to lock eyes with her. she just shrugs and smiles. you huff, pinch her side hard, and then you lean in to kiss the grimace off of her face.

Ok so the saga with my old PC continues and is only fueling my desire to get back into fanfiction lol because I found all of the files from my attempt at making a legend of spyro fan-game! I honestly thought they were lost, I'm so excited to see all this stuff again! This was the "logo" for the game (I know its nearly unreadable lol, so it says "The Legend of Cynder, Shadows of The Past". 14/15 year old me didn't seem to care much for readability, I think I'd just discovered photoshop's layer effects lol)
Tumblr media
Here's a bunch of random stuff I found.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm defiantly going to do a redraw of that last one at some point. That was like, THE thing I remember being super proud of when I first did it. I think it was going to be part of the trailer my now-partner was putting together for the game lol.
Actually, a lot of these were actually just frames from animations, but either the files are either just corrupted, or high school me didn't know how to set fps and resolution properly in the output so I got a headache trying to watch them lol. It's probably the second one honestly. Also I remember my old laptop wasn't able to play back the animation because it would lag so much, so I just had to kind of...guess at timing, and that went about as well as you'd expect. It didn't help that blender used to have this bug where your audio would move around your timeline so it really was just random guessing. I'm amazed anything got done at all, let alone how far we actually got (that is to say, not far at all but we had something playable at least).
I also found the demo files and footage of the "game" running (running at 12fps but running)! I'm curious if they still work, I'll have to download an older version of blender to test them out!
There's actually a lot more but actually finding it is proving to be quite a challenge since this laptop seems to be the digital equivalent of an ADHD "doom box" - meaning nothing is sorted into folders that make even a remote lick of sense to me, it's all just kind of thrown in together lmao.
I wanted to post these though because even though I don't really do 3D stuff anymore, It still made me really happy to see how much progress I've made over the years and how far I've come. Also a few folks who worked on this project with me back on Deviantart have started finding me lol, so in case there's anyone else out there, hello! I'm not dead, I'm still around, I'm just a lot more (openly) queer now lmao.
Image descriptions:
[ID 1: A game title that reads "The Legend of Cynder, Shadows of the Past". The two lines, "the legend of" and "shadows of the past" are written in dark purple text. The purple material is supposed to look like liquid, but instead just looks hard to read. "Cynder" is writen in black, 3D text with red outlines, with the exception of the C. The "c" is modeled as a black tube instead of in a blocky style like the rest of the letters. The inside of the C has a red underbelly, and the bottom of the C ends in a tail, resembling Cynder's from the Legend of Spyro Series. There are 3 white spikes at the top of the C. /end ID]
[ID 2: a 3d render of 4 dragons around a christmas tree. A black dragon at the front, Cynder, is using her tail to hang tinsel, a pruple dragon, Spyro, on the left is reaching up into the branches of the tree. A blue dragon, Ignitus, is hovering behind the tree, his paws outstretched, implying he is placing the glowing star at the top. On his head is a silver dragon, Zerali, balancing on his horns. behind them is a series of floating islands. /End ID]
[ID 3: A render of Cynder with a darker colour pallet than the previous image and glowing yellow eyes, snarling at the camera, guarding a black gem. The sky in the background is blood red and the terrain is flat and barren. /End ID]
[ID 4: A render of an incomplete model of Terrador, a green dragon with brown horns and rocky shoulder decorations. He has no underbelly or wings. /end ID]
[ID 5: A render of a fan character named ekkosel, a blue, anthropomorphic dragonfly with an unsettling, uncanny face and green wings, T-posing. Her green wings are a blur /End ID]
[ID 6: two sketches of a anthropomorphic cheetah heads. One has long ears like a lynx and is labeled DotD design, the other has small, rounded ears like a cheetah usually has, labled TLoC design. /end ID]
[ID 7: A render of Zerali, the silver dragon from the second image, and ekkosel, from the 5th, playing together. In this image, we can see Zerali has a pinky-purple underbelly and shiny gold horns.]
[ID 8: A rendered scene showing a close up of blue ignitus with his eyes closed. He appears to be talking to Cynder, who is in the background, but blurry. The game's logo is visible in the bottom left of the image. /end ID]

“Can I ask you something?”
You stopped absentmindedly browsing the various stalls and narrowed your eyes at the man whose hand was currently intertwined with yours. “Why do you sound nervous?”
“Probably because I’m going to make a mess of this.” He mumbled self-consciously.
You continued to look at him sceptically as you began to walk back to Cid’s parlour. The two of you had wanted a bit of time to yourselves whilst you were free from any missions and had decided to grab some time away. You all suspected the shortage of work came from a petty Cid who didn’t take too kindly to Hunter ensuring that she stopped any further cutbacks on the shares she granted you all.
In a weird way, it had a small silver lining. Wrecker and Omega now had some free time and were running an errand of the scavenging variety for Tech and there had been some time to do something just the two of you. Of course, credits were short, so it took the form of just a casual wander around, but you didn’t mind it at all.
“You know that new hotel that just opened up?” Hunter continued.
“The one that looks too nice for a place like this and is cash only and most definitely a front for money laundering?”
“Yeah.”
“What about it?”
“Well… we’re not on a mission… and uh I figured we could use the time off to get some proper time away with um just the two of us. What do you think?”
Of all the things for him to suggest, you wouldn’t have guess that. You turned and gave him a broad smile. “I’d love to!”
“Yeah?” Hunter asked, his face brightening.
“Yeah!” You confirmed happily and you gave him a quick kiss on the lips. “But what’s the real occasion? Usually booking time on the Marauder works just fine and you don’t get all nervous asking for it. Spill.”
Hunter looked away from you for a moment and rubbed the side of his neck awkwardly. “I don’t know, it’s stupid really.”
“Hunter, I promise I will not think it is stupid. Tell me.” You prompted gently.
Hunter cleared his throat. “I had thought it could be a kinda belated six-month anniversary type… thing….” He trailed off as he awaited your reaction, but you gave nothing away. He hesitated for a moment, taking your silence as a sign he’d gotten something wrong. “That’s a thing people do, right? People who aren’t in our particular situation I mean.”
Your knowledge on the subject was just as limited as his but you loved that he was saying it. The thought had crossed your mind, but you hadn’t expected anything, the cards just hadn’t been dealt in your favour. Until now. Evidently you were silent in your appreciation for too long because Hunter started backtracking.
“I’m sorry I missed the actual day and um things have been a bit hectic, we can just forget the whole thing and move on. We don’t have-” Your finger on his lips interrupted his ramble.
You didn’t think it was possible to love him more yet somehow seeing him pushing himself out of his normal comfort zone for something like this made it possible. “What you have just offered is incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I had just never considered it as possibility given our rather hectic schedule and I didn’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on things. Also, with regards to the date, that’s flexible given the uh other events that day brought.” You said uneasily before you wrapped an arm around his waist and snuggled into him as the two of you continued your stroll. “I love you. It sounds perfect.”
“Good.” Hunter replied softly. He’d pushed his comfort zone further than he ever had before by bringing this whole idea up but your enthusiasm and not feeling entitled to something like this in the first place made him feel much better about the whole thing.
The two of you turned the corner to where Cid’s parlour was and started to slow down. You weren’t quite ready to go back yet. You broke the quiet first. “How exactly are we going to pay for this?”
“Eh I kinda figured with our skillsets… we… um… wouldn’t really need to.”
You pulled back so you were walking more side by side rather than you pressed into an uncoordinated angle at his side and your smile widened. “Law breaking and room service? You sure know how to treat a woman.”
“Does it count as law breaking if the establishment is most likely breaking the law anyway?” Hunter disputed in a good-humoured manner.
“Call it a grey area.” You said with a dismissive wave of your hand.
Hunter hummed and gently pushed you back against the wall. “You’re definitely comfortable with this?” He needed to make sure. In an ideal galaxy, he’d actually have the funds to take you to a place like that and to one that wasn’t involved in money laundering. Of course, in an ideal galaxy, going on a break would involve leaving a home that wasn’t quite as portable as his current one.
“Definitely.” You confirmed, kissing him once more. After a few seconds, you pulled away with an important realisation. “There will be a proper bed!”
“I hear that’s part of the appeal.” Hunter said drily as he left a light trail of kisses along your neck.
“You know what that means though?”
Hunter brought his eyes up to meet yours.
“We could actually sleep for 8 hours! Come on, when was the last time you could say that?” You said playfully.
Hunter huffed out a laugh. “Silly me for thinking something else.”
You pretended to look offended by the suggestion. “Get that mind out the gutter, Sergeant.” You nudged past him and made your way towards the steps that led down to Cid’s. But yes, we gotta earn those 8 hours after all.
Hunter caught up to you and grabbed you and playfully imparted a series of quick kisses on your neck whilst he tickled your sides.
You couldn’t help laughs that left you and you batted his hands away. The good-natured fun swiftly evaporated as you both saw Phee sitting in the parlour entertaining Bolo and Ketch.
You both shared a look of mild irritation. You hadn’t really warmed to the pirate yet, the only thing she had going for her right now was she seemed good with Omega, and you sensed good vibes between her and Tech. The two of you walked over to the bar counter where Echo and Tech were sitting. You tuned into the story she was telling Cid’s two regulars.
“I had no choice but to fend off the Octomorph. Bare-handed.”
You rolled your eyes at the familiar tale and wondered which parts would receive embellishment this time whilst Bolo and Ketch released gasps of admiration.
“This story changes every time she tells it.” Tech said.
“You’ve been listening every time she tells it?” You responded elbowing him in a teasing fashion.
Tech just furrowed his brow at you and went back to his datapad.
Hunter just sighed. “Those two’ll believe anything.”
You glanced at him. It was like being back in this place sucked all the energy out of him and any pleasant mood he was once in was just replaced by tiredness and your heart went out to him. A night away would do him some good. The sound of the door opening, and Wrecker’s laugh caused you all to look towards them.
“Mission accomplished! One compressor, as requested.” He said cheerfully as he tossed it to Tech.
Tech caught and examined it. “Ah. Nicely done, Wrecker.”
“That’s not all we got.” Omega said triumphantly as she dumped the various other things she found with Wrecker onto the table.
Tech wasn’t too impressed. “This assortment, however, could have been left at the junkyard.”
“Easy, quick draw.” Phee interrupted as she examined the pile. “Let the expert take a look.”
“It is a manifold regulator. And a broken one at that.” Tech pointed out as she picked the item up.
You, Hunter, and Echo all shared a look, but small smiles graced your faces. You were still trying to warm up to her but the rapport she and Tech had developed wasn’t lost on you and it made you happy to see.
“Thanks, Clone Obvious.” Phee clapped back. It was then something in the stack caught her eye. “Hang on.” She picked up the flat, circular object and slid back part of it. “These look like coordinate markings.”
Omega gasped excitedly, “Coordinate markings?”
Phee turned back to face her droid. “Mel, take a look at this.”
Mel waddled over and shone a light through it which turned a pale purple.
“I was right. This is a compass.” Phee revealed. “One from long before our time.”
Mel let out a series of beeps.
“These coordinates are in the Kaldar Trinary system.” Phee explained.
Tech entered the name into his datapad. “I have no record of that system.”
“Because the best treasures aren’t usually found on maps.”
“There’s treasure there?!” Omega asked eagerly.
“Without a doubt.” Phee replied. “This compass is a rare find. You’ve got a good eye.” She complimented the young girl.
Hunter’s attention had become more focused on what Phee was saying and he was studying Omega’s reaction to it. He had a sinking feeling that a dangerous and unpredictable mission was heading his way and sure enough, Omega turned around with the enthusiastic request.
“Let’s go check it out. You heard Phee.”
“She says a lot of things.” He replied reservedly as he crossed his arms.
“I can go alone and take the spoils for myself. Or we go together and split it 50-50.” Phee offered as she put her arm around Omega and handed her the compass.
“Please, Hunter. What if there really is treasure there?” Omega asked keenly,
“Yeah. We’re not on a mission.” Wrecker added.
“It could be fun.” Omega said by means to convince him.
“The last time we went after treasure, it didn’t go as planned.” Echo countered.
“Yeah, I’m with Echo on that.” You agreed.
“You weren’t working with a professional then.” Phee said confidently.
“Right. ‘Professional.’” You grumbled with a scoff.
Phee ignored you and kept her attention on Hunter. “What do you say?”
Hunter looked to Echo who nodded in reluctant agreement before he looked to you and started to point between you and him. “We had…” He trailed off as he saw the hopeful and intrigued faces in front of him. His eyes darted back towards yours.
You gave a ‘well, what can we do’ shrug. You weren’t thrilled with this idea, the thought of poking around in a place where it sounded like it would be better left alone made you uncomfortable. Not to mention the other plans you had once had but the squad came first. Guess we gotta raincheck.
Hunter heaved an exhausted sigh and dipped his head in unenthusiastic agreement.
The others began to make their way out, but you hung back as you noticed the way Hunter’s shoulders sagged as he watched them go. You placed a concerned hand on his shoulder.
Hunter appreciated the gesture and brought his hand up to rest it on yours. “What do you reckon the chances are that we find the treasure and get to leave without any trouble?”
You chuckled. “Just remember to breathe and it’s probably for the best that we go. I dread to think what would happen if we left them with Phee and Echo was on his own to supervise them.” With that, you both walked out the parlour to catch up with the rest of the group.
--
You and Hunter were stood in the hallway and watched as he played with his vibroblade, the sight always sent a warmth thrumming through your veins, but you knew he wasn’t doing it for your sake. Omega hadn’t left Phee’s side since you’d all boarded and she was mirroring all Phee did and you gathered Hunter was feeling a bit left out. Something you found rather endearing, but you were sure he would deny any such suggestion.
“How many uncharted planets have you been to?” Omega asked Phee as she copied Phee’s relaxed pose. Her hands were behind her head whilst her feet rested on top of Mel.
“Too many to count.” Phee replied before she sat up straight. “That’s why I need Mel to keep track of all the legends I’ve chased down over the years. That’s the life of a treasure hunter.”
Hunter stopped twirling the blade. “Don’t you mean ‘pirate’?”
Phee turned the seat to face him. “I prefer ‘Liberator of Ancient Wonders’.”
“Yeah, I’m sure the way you ‘liberate’ them is perfectly legit and the cash benefits are an added bonus and not the core reason. Only a pirate would have an attitude like that.” You said cynically with a frown.
Phee just shrugged before she faced Omega again. “Wanna hear about the time I found the Blade of Zakata Par?”
“Yes, I do!”
Hunter sighed as he sheathed his blade.
Aww, I was quite content to continue watching.
He gave you a half smile.
You came and stood beside him and gently pushed your hip into his. You okay?
Hunter indicated over to where Omega was staring wide eyed at Phee as she told her story. “Just don’t really want Omega getting caught up in all that. We still don’t really know her or how trustworthy she is.” He kept his voice low.
“Yeah, I don’t like her all that much either, but we haven’t exactly been amazing role models in terms of the ways to make a living department. Are you sure there isn’t more to it than simple distrust?” You whispered.
Hunter tilted his head at you. “Like what?”
“She looks up to you and now there’s someone else who is getting her attention.”
“She looks up to all of us.” Hunter deflected.
You gave him a pointed look. “Hunter, you know your relationship with her is different.”
Hunter let out a heavy breath. He wouldn’t quite admit to being jealous, but he figured he’d better check his attitude anyway. “What do you suggest I do? I can’t pretend I’m thrilled with what’s developing there.”
“Give Phee a chance. Maybe she’ll surprise us all.” You offered optimistically.
Hunter raised his eyebrows at you. “This is coming from you? Miss ‘only a pirate would have an attitude like that’.” He quoted back to you.
You jokingly punched his arm. “Fine, I’ll take my own advice too. We can both be open-minded together… like people in relationships do.” You added light-heartedly.
Hunter rolled his eyes before he planted a light kiss to your temple and the two of you made your way into the cockpit as the ship prepared to land.
--
You took in the dry, grey, and quite frankly dead, environment around you. It looked like whatever had once thrived here and been completely obliterated. The ground was dusty and cracked beneath your feet as you walked. You let Omega and Phee walk past you and you watched as Omega mimicked Phee in picking up a branch from a dead plant.
“I’m not picking up any signs of civilization whatsoever.” Tech said as he examined his datapad. “Which makes sense, considering this land appears to have been razed and left uninhabitable.”
“Who’d wanna hide treasure here?” Echo questioned.
A rapid beeping interrupted any potential answers.
“What was that?” Wrecker asked.
Echo studied the compass in his hand. “The compass just activated.” He held in in front of him and walked a few paces behind him. As the beeping started to fade, he turned around and walked a few steps forward and the beeping increased. “It’s telling us to go south.”
“Let’s go!” Omega said keenly as she grabbed the compass from Tech and ran off in front.
“Now she’s got the right attitude.” Phee commented. “Wait up, kid!” She called as she ran after her.
You released a distant sigh as the others wandered off too.
“What?” Hunter asked when he realised you had made no moves to follow them.
“I’m just thinking that right about now we would be sitting in a hotel room and scamming our way through a room service meal.”
Hunter exhaled heavily at the thought. That sounded very appealing right now. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m not mad at you.” You reassured him. “If this pans out, we’ll get a better deal out of this than Cid would’ve ever offered us. I’m just thinking about what could’ve been. It’s my way of coping as we do this treasure hunt. Come one, we gotta catch up.”
--
You had been walking for a while and along the way, you had put your coverings up whilst the others donned their helmets since you weren’t sure what exactly would be waiting for you on this treasure hunt.
Omega stared at the compass as the beeping had suddenly stopped. “It’s a dead end.” She faced the mountainside. “Maybe we go around the mountain?” She mused.
“Or it’s telling us to go inside it.” Phee thought instead as she stared at the pile of rocks. She lowered her lantern and walked over to the rocks and slid her vibrosword in the gap in between the first two. One of the rocks fell away and she felt a mild gust of wind blow through. “Big guy, help me move this.”
Initially, Wrecker forgot that this sorta thing would fall back on his shoulders. He turned his helmet towards you first.
You jutted your chin forward in Phee’s direction. Well, I can’t do it.
Wrecker cleared his throat and marched forward and began to push the boulders away. A loud rumbling meant he and Phee had to quickly retreat back as the topside boulders come crashing down to reveal a gap in the mountain.
“Look! It’s a secret entrance.” Omega said breathlessly before she followed Phee inside.
“Oh! It is a secret entrance.” Wrecker repeated in awe.
Hunter didn’t want to linger too long so he tailed after Phee and Omega with the rest of you falling in behind him.
--
Flashlights and lanterns illuminate the small entryway room.
“Whoa.” Omega breathed as she examined the wall in the circular chamber you all now found yourselves in.
You looked at the wall and you could feel a deep sense of history resided in this place and you all definitely didn’t belong here. It made you feel rather uneasy.
Hunter noticed the way your back had stiffened and he gently touched your wrist.
You glanced down at his hand and then at the concerned helmet that was staring at you. I’m okay.
“Hunter, these etchings are easily a thousand years old.” Tech said to his brother.
“Older. Much older.” Phee corrected as she looked at the wall. “If I’m right, which is always, we are standing in the entranceway to Skara Nal.” She revealed as she faced the group behind her, but she was met with blank stares.
“To what?” Echo asked.
“Every pirate out there’s heard the legend of Skara Nal. It traces back to the ancients.”
“You mean the Jedi?” Echo said.
“No, they weren’t here.” You said quietly as you traced the markings on the wall, only half paying attention to what Phee was saying. The Jedi weren’t around when this place was.
Phee studied you curiously as your voice had taken on a tone she’d never heard before and it wasn’t one she expected from you. “She’s right. It’s older than that.”
“So, what kinda treasure’s in there?” Wrecker asked.
“The Heart of the Mountain.” Phee said in a dramatic and hushed fashion. “And we’re going to liberate it.” She faced the wall with the levers and shone her light to get a better idea of what you all would be dealing with. It would seem that each lever was responsible for that portion of the wall and moving them would see the smaller stone cubes with the markings on them align and, with any luck, open a doorway.
A bad feeling sank deep within your stomach upon being here. You really didn’t want to disturb anything, let alone the heart of the mountain.
“How do we get in?” Omega whispered.
“It’s a pattern.” Phee stated. “We need to align the symbols in the right order.” She braced her hands against the first bottom lever and moved it counterclockwise, but she couldn’t reach the one above her. “Some help would be nice.” She said pointedly.
Wrecker moved forward and pushed in the same direction Phee had done with the bottom one. The three symbols fell into place and a rumbling shook the inside of the chamber.
“That doesn’t sound good.” Hunter said nervously as the rumbling continued.
The ground you were all standing on suddenly spun and a door slammed across the way you came in and now your only way out was blocked.
You heard a cracking sound above you. “Wrecker, watch-” You didn’t need to finish your warning as you watched Phee push Wrecker out of the way of the falling boulder. Alright, you had to give her a point for that.
Hunter dashed around the rock to make sure his brother was okay and was relieved to see that he was.
“Booby traps. Now it’s getting interesting.” Phee said calmy as she stood up and massaged her shoulder.
“You’ve just trapped us in here.” Hunter snapped at her before he walked away to assess the new situation.
“Relax. There’s always a way out.” Phee replied breezily. “We just have to find it. It’s part of the puzzle.”
You caught Hunter’s shoulder as he walked past you. You looked at his covered face with concerned eyes. Breathe, remember? We’re all okay. Worst comes to worst, I’ll open the door and we can leave this whole treasure hunt behind.
Hunter took a deep breath and nodded before the two of you separated to continue to scan the room.
Phee caught the way the two of you were looking at each other. It looked like the two of you were having a conversation without any words. She wanted to put it down to couple intuition, but her instincts told her there was more to it, especially because something similar had happened with Wrecker earlier. For now, there were more pressing matters but her curiosity about this was certainly piqued.
Omega kept opening and closing the flap on the compass and it was then she noticed she could peer through the glass. She examined each of the symbols on the stones on the wall and found that some of them were shining with a pale blue light. She gasped, “Wait! We’re aligning the wrong symbols!” She ran up the boulder that had fallen and looked at more of the stones through the compass lens.
“What do you see?” Hunter asked her as he looked at the area that she was.
“Some of the symbols are glowing.”
“Here. Lay the compass on my lantern.” Phee directed as she placed her lantern on the rock.
Omega did so and sure enough, there was enough light being reflected now to illuminate all the symbols that they needed to line up.
Wrecker pushed the middle level clockwise to bring around the correct symbol for that row and then he and Tech pushed anticlockwise again on the lower level to put all three of the glowing symbols in a row.
The floor moved again, only this time, it reopened your original entrance and revealed another one for you to go through to continue your way into the mountain.
“Mel, note the coordinates and wait here.” Phee ordered her droid who beeped in confirmation. “Come on, kid. Time to go exploring.” She led the way and Omega fell in behind her.
Wrecker had shoved his helmet on top of his head and looked towards Hunter. “Looks like we’re doing this.” He said with a chuckle before he started walking.
“My interest is certainly piqued.” Tech mused as he kept his eyes on his datapad whilst he followed Wrecker.
Echo said nothing, he only glanced at Hunter and tilted his head in the direction of the others before he followed his brother.
Hunter looked at you and glanced back at the door behind the two of you.
Wanting to make a break for it?
Hunter grunted a short laugh. “Tempted to but no. Come one, we don’t wanna fall behind.”
You let out another wistful sigh.
“Now what?” Hunter queried as he walked past you.
Now, I’m thinking about the lacy red number that I was planning on wearing tonight.
Hunter stopped in his tracks and swallowed thickly under his helmet. “What?” He asked, his voice cracking.
The modulation of his helmet couldn’t hide the way his voice broke up. You smirked under your mask. “Yeah, I would’ve finally let Lyra give me it after weeks of telling her there was no point and I’d feel too awkward to ever wear it. Thought I finally had an occasion to fight that fear.” You sighed pensively again. “Guess not.”
“Are you trying to torture me?” He rasped.
“No, just simply keeping you informed of my coping and thought process.” You said cheekily as you stepped past him and patted the centre of his armoured chest.
He groaned and he wasn’t sure how but somehow, he was able to get his feet moving and follow you into the passageway.
--
“So, what exactly is the Heart of the Mountain?” Omega asked in a hushed whisper as she led the way with Phee.
“A rare crystalised stone. Some say it’s the key to an ancient power. Which makes it worth more than you could possibly imagine.”
“Sounds like it should be something that should remain untouched.” You muttered.
Phee faced you but walked backwards as she addressed you. “Don’t you have any curiosity? Instead of judging my line of work, why don’t you try and be open minded and try to experience the joy of the puzzle.”
“I don’t like messing with ancient relics. If it’s been here for hundreds of years, who are we to take it?” You argued. You guessed some sentiments expressed during history time at the temple had stuck with you.
“Open your mind.” Phee reiterated before she faced forwards again.
Hunter nudged your shoulder with his. “That you taking your own advice?” He teased.
“Shut up.” You grumbled. “I’ll get there eventually.”
You all walked down the dark tunnel- your only sources of light being your torches- but as you continued walking, you got a cold chill in your blood and you and Hunter both slowed to a stop at the same time. Echo and Wrecker followed your example.
“I have run a preliminary analysis of the minerals in those stone slabs. They predate the Republic. Phee may be onto something.” Tech said before he realised that his brothers had stopped walking and halted also.
Phee and Omega turned around when they noticed that the rest of you had stopped walking.
“Hey, tough guys. Want to pick up the pace?” Phee said.
It was the Omega noticed the way both your hand fell to your blaster with Hunter’s doing the same. “(Y/N), Hunter?” She asked warily.
It was then a deep growl echoed throughout the tunnel and you all pointed your flashlights to the hole in the ceiling. When nothing immediately appeared amiss, you focused in on the Force around you and it was then you sense the creature above you. “Wrecker, above you!”
Wrecker heard your warning a split second too late. The creature had pounced and pinned him to the ground, the only thing keeping the animal’s teeth from his throat was the grip he had on its horns. “It’s drooling on me!” Wrecker complained.
You all fired your blasters at the creature, but they had little effect.
Hunter made to move closer to the animal, but it lashed a paw out and smacked him, causing him to fall to his knees.
You took a second to make sure he was okay and when he got to his feet, you turned your attention back to the creature which had now gone back up to the gap in the wall and was attempting to bring Wrecker with it. You all paused your fire whilst Wrecker punched the side of the creature’s face.
Wrecker managed to rip a horn out which led to the animal dropping him.
Once he was safely out the way, you all continued to fire at the creature which caused it to retreat but the barrage of fire on the decrepit wall meant that a cascade of rocks came tumbling down.
--
You coughed and waved the dust away from your eyes and looked ahead of you. The hallway was now completely blocked with Echo, Tech, and Wrecker on one side and you, Hunter, Omega, and Phee on the other. A less than ideal situation.
“Echo, Tech, Wrecker, are you okay?” Omega asked urgently into her comm.
“We’re fine, but there’s too much debris. We can’t get through.” Echo replied.
“The readings in here are not as clear, but I can track your position.” Tech chimed in as he walked towards another cavity in the wall. “There are small side tunnels throughout. We will navigate a path and rendezvous with you at the other end.”
“Good. Then we’ll keep looking for the treasure.” Phee said into Omega’s comm. She felt you and Hunter pointedly staring at her. “What? That’s what we’re here for. They’ll be fine. Come on. Fortune awaits.”
She’s got a thing for Tech and she’s good with Omega. She’s got a thing for Tech and she’s good with Omega. You chanted inwardly since those were her only two saving graces right now. You looked at Hunter.
“Be open minded and breathe, right?” He said.
“Yup.” You said with a deep sigh before the two of you set off after her and Omega.
--
You all paused as you were greeted by the sight of the cylindrical tunnel but the sound of growling in the distance was too close for Hunter’s liking.
“We need to keep moving.” He said as he stepped into the tunnel first.
You watched him anxiously. Something was off, this felt far too simple. A thought you and Phee seemed to share.
“Hang on. This is too easy.” She said aloud.
Omega shone the compass on the ceiling and gasped. “Look, there are more markings.”
Your heartrate skyrocketed. Oh no. Hunter, stop! You dashed after him.
Hunter’s step faltered slightly.
“Wait!” Phee yelled as she fell into step beside you.
Your stomach dropped as you saw the ground beneath Hunter’s feet completely crumble away and he was falling through the floor.
Hunter acted quickly and threw his grappling hook.
You lunged and grabbed onto it and started to pull. Phee wrapped her arms around your waist to help and Omega held onto Phee’s as she joined the effort.
It felt like forever before you saw him reappear. Once you were sure he was back on solid ground, you let the wire go and kneeled beside him. “You and heights has got to be my least favourite combination.” You said shakily as you held him close to you.
Hunter squeezed you tightly before he pulled away and tenderly pressed his helmet to your forehead. “I’m okay.” He said, though his breathing was still coming through in short pants. That was too close.
“I think we have to find a way to walk across the ceiling.” Omega suggested as she looked through the compass and examined the symbols above her.
“My thoughts exactly.” Phee concurred.
You clenched your jaw so hard that your teeth hurt. You helped Hunter to his feet.
“You’re just making this up as you go.” Hunter said through heavy breaths.
“It’s part of the fun. Loosen up, Bandana. You’re in good hands.”
Now, you were pretty sure your lip was bleeding. You have a free pass to ignore my advice. I used mine earlier.
“We have almost died three times already.” He argued.
“This reminds me of the time I tracked down the Belmost diadem-”
“I don’t care.” Hunter interrupted sharply.
“Ooh. Someone’s in a mood.”
“Phee…” You warned her with a glare.
Hunter sighed and spoke calmly. “I’m only interested in us getting outta here in one piece.”
“It fits.” Omega had been paying little attention to the quarrel and had instead been looking at finding their way across. It was then she had noticed a gap in the wall that fit the shape of the compass and sure enough, the compass had slotted in perfectly. The symbols turned white, and Omega turned the notch so that the tunnel rotated, and the markings were now on the floor. She chucked a rock on them and was pleased to see that it safely rolled across. “All clear.” She went to get the compass, but it was engrained in the wall. “The compass. I can’t get it.”
Phee laid a reassuring hand on the young girl’s shoulder. “It’s served its purpose. Skara Nal’s reclaimed it.”
“Skara Nal has reclaimed it.” Omega repeated with wonder before she started to walk.
“So, we have to navigate this death trap without it?” Hunter asked Phee.
“Good thing you have me.” Phee replied positively before she walked away.
You and Hunter shared a glance as you both drew your blasters and followed.
--
“What took you so long?” Hunter asked as he saw his brothers emerge from the side tunnel.
“Phee thinks we’re getting close to the treasure.” Omega said eagerly before she faced the door the three of you had reached.
The three of them walked over to you.
“What type of puzzle is this?” Tech queried as he shone his torch on the door.
“Don’t overthink it, brown eyes.” She let go of her lantern and traced her hands down the centre of the door and paused when she reached the bottom and pulled out a switch. “Sometimes a door’s…” She trailed off and watched as the door slowly creaked open. “Just a door.” She winked at Omega as she saw the excited look on her face.
Phee shone her light into the vault, and she spotted the target. “There. The Heart of the Mountain.” She jumped onto the side ledge and started to make her way towards it, with you, Omega and Hunter following her whilst the others waited by the exit.
You all paused on the first ledge and watched her go towards to item.
You still had a very bad feeling about all this, and it ran much deeper than any uneasiness you felt towards Phee. You genuinely didn’t think this was going to end well. “Phee.” You called out nervously. “I’m really not sure about this. I promise this isn’t just me giving you a hard time, I don’t think we should mess around with that.”
Phee paid your words no attention and removed it. Just as she did so, a disturbing and violent rumble boomed throughout the room.
Wrecker and Echo turned back towards the door, but it had started to cave in and so they, along with Tech, were forced jump away and cling on to the edge of the ledge.
The room suddenly sounded like it was powering up and it was soon brightly lit up. A large blast reverberated through it and Hunter placed a hand on Omega’s chest to keep her from losing her footing.
Everything started to move, causing all of you to make your way down towards the bottom of it.
“I suspect this is not, in fact, a treasure vault.” Tech theorised.
“What was your first clue?” You shouted over the sound of creaking metal.
“What is it?” Omega asked.
“Good question.” Echo responded.
Another huge blast sounded from whatever it was you were inside, and you all shielded your eyes from the brightness of it.
“It just emitted a massive surge of energy.” Tech said. “Whatever we are standing inside is highly destructive!”
“So what do we do to shut it down?” Wrecker asked urgently.
“If removing the Heart of the Mountain activated it, perhaps we must return it to its proper place to deactivate it.” Tech replied.
Phee possessively clutched the artifact to her body. “Do you know how much this is worth? It’s what we came for! Can’t you find a separate kill switch or something?”
“Our ship’s out there. If that thing destroys it, we’ll be trapped on this planet!” Hunter reasoned.
Phee let out an aggravated huff. “Alright. But you owe me.”
“In what possible world-” Any argument from you was promptly cut off as a familiar growl wailed out and all your eyes turned to the door, and you saw the creature from earlier was making a rather inconvenient reappearance.
In all the chaos of blaster fire versus violent animal, Phee lost her balance and the Heart of the Mountain slipped from her grasp and fell through a gap in the interior of whatever thing you all were in. “You deal with that! I’ll get the stone.” She yelled as she started to climb down after it.
Hunter glanced down after her and then looked over at you as you ducked under a vicious swipe of the animal’s paw and opened fire.
You felt him looking at you. Go, we can handle this. Just make sure she doesn’t get herself killed.
--
“Can’t you do your Jedi trick with this thing?” Wrecker shouted as he kept up his fire at the creature.
Your practice had consisted of the rats that graced the streets of Ord Mantell and whatever animals Cid had you all smuggling, this was a significantly different and more challenging situation. “If you can get it to keep still for two seconds then I’m all yours.” You retorted before you jumped out of the way of its snout. Unfortunately, Echo had been behind you and took the brunt of it as he was tossed to the side. Sorry, Echo!
Wrecker had managed to get to the back of the creature, and he tried to grab its leg, but it kicked him hard in the chest and he was thrown into one of the windows, the glass cracking on impact.
You and Omega focused your fire as you shielded Tech as he attempted to figure out a way to shut down the machine, but it was doing very little to dissuade the animal from its advances.
Wrecker recovered quickly and grabbed the creature’s tail and started to drag it back. “Shoot the window!”
You and Omega fired off a series of shots and the glass shattered which gave him the chance to chuck the creature out of it.
Any relief from having dealt with the animal was short lived since a loud groan wailed throughout the mech.
“Tech, do something!” Wrecker urged as he struggled to keep his balance.
Tech stared at what he assumed was the control panel. “I’m trying, but nothing is working!” He said, his frustration evident.
“Tech, the stone!” Hunter yelled, throwing his brother the object as he and Phee remerged.
Tech caught it but a particularly strong vibration meant he dropped it. He and Omega hastily picked it back up but the initial way they tried to insert it was wrong.
The rest of you watched anxiously as you felt the machine powering the weapon back up.
Tech and Omega managed to get it in, and they turned it and were greeted with the welcomed sound of the machine powering down.
However, you couldn’t catch a break. No sooner had the stone been re-inserted, did it start to crackle and ignite, and you all watched as it melted away. A series of explosions rang out around you and the lights went out and you could feel the machine start to sink to the ground.
“Hang on to something!” Hunter directed. It was then he noticed Omega start to slip away and he reached out and grabbed her forearm and pushed her in front of him whilst you all started to try and get as high as you could.
The machine began to tilt, and you all clattered against the divot you had huddled into.
Hunter found himself torn between protecting you and protecting Omega.
You felt the conflict within him. Omega first, every time.
Hunter swiftly shielded Omega’s body with his own as the machine came tumbling down.
--
You massaged your bruised ribs and groaned as you felt a headache coming on. You were beginning to realise that lack of heavy armour came with a price.
“What are you thinking about now?” Hunter asked as he made sure Omega was okay before he held his hand out to you.
You pulled down your mask. “That telling Lyra forearm and shoulder armour was enough has come back to bite me and I missed out on 8 hours sleep in a comfy bed because of this unsuccessful quest.” You replied unhappily as you let him help you up. And I’m thinking about the more preferred way for me to feel tired out and sore. You chuckled quietly as you heard the way his breathing stuttered.
You all emerged from the broken window and paused at the edge of it.
“This puts us at 0 for 2 in treasure hunting, even with a professional.” Tech said.
“We did find the Heart of the Mountain.” Omega pointed out. “The legend was real.”
“Now that’s the right attitude.” Phee said merrily.
--
On the way back, you had taken down your hood and the others had removed their helmets and the sight of the Marauder was a beautiful one.
“At least no one can ever activate that thing again.” Hunter said.
“So, what you’re saying is, it’s a good thing we came after all?” Phee challenged light-heartedly.
You couldn’t help the chuckle that left your mouth. “Sure thing, Phee.”
Phee gasped. “Did you all hear that! She agreed with me! See what happens when you stop being judgemental?”
“I banged my head; I’m not thinking clearly.” You argued but a slight grin graced your face.
“Nuh uh, we’re making ground.” Phee replied gleefully.
You just sighed and let her have this one. It was easier that way and it, rather irritatingly, felt better than constantly looking for faults in her ways and occupation. You wouldn’t go around calling her a close friend by any means, but you could give her a chance.
You all continued to walk towards the ship.
“Sorry about Mel.” Omega said gloomily into the quiet.
“This happens all the time.” Phee said casually. “That’s why I keep Mel’s memory stored on my ship’s data bank. I’ll have her rebuilt before we head to Vadnay.”
“What’s on Vadnay?” Omega asked.
Phee turned to face all of you as she walked. “I have a lead on a certain chalice. Very ancient.”
“Really?” Hunter said, his tone filled with scepticism. He stopped walking and let the others pass him.
“Legend has it the chalice once belonged to the Kingdom of Elweys, lost over a millennia ago.” She regaled to the group as they walked towards the ship.
You couldn’t help the light laugh that left you upon seeing the utterly defeated look on Hunter’s face. You rubbed sympathetic circles on his back. “Chin up, Sarge. Keep an open mind.”
“You’re awfully cheery.”
You shrugged. “Turns out the whole Jedi teaching of learning to let go actually has some merit. An open mind makes dealing with her a whole lot easier.”
“I’ll take your word for it. I’ll get there though, I’m sure. Looks like she’ll be around more often anyway.”
“Come on, we got a chalice to find.” You said and you took a half step forward, but Hunter’s voice caused you to look back.
 “It was red?”
Your lip curled into a mischievous grin. “Yup.” You stepped back towards him and leaned up. “And quite flimsy. Would probably have torn quite easily.” You added alluringly, kissing the underside of his jaw before you walked away, feeling rather pleased with yourself. An opportunity to get him flustered was always attractive, regardless of the rather irritating overall circumstances.
Hunter released a frustrated growl and walked after you, muttering under his breath. No way would the sight of some ancient chalice be better than whatever you had been planning before all this had happened. Just before you hopped onto the steps, he grabbed your arm and pulled you back and pushed you against the wall of the Marauder, out of sight of the others. He dropped his helmet, cradled the side of your jaw, and looked deep into your eyes.
Your breathing became deeper, and your eyes darted between his and his lips.
Hunter moved first and kissed you. Tenderly, softly but deeply too. There was no mistaking the passion behind it.
You reciprocated eagerly, forgetting that there would be a group of people waiting on you both coming through the door. The kiss lasted for a few perfect minutes before the two of you parted for air and before things got too hot and heavy.
“Have I mentioned how much I wished we were in that hotel room right now?” Hunter murmured through heavy breaths.
“The feeling is very mutual.” You replied back, just as oxygen depraved.
“I wanted this break for us.” He kept his voice low as he nipped at your earlobe and caressed your sides.
“I did too but it wasn’t to be.” You managed to say through a hitched breath. “We knew the squad would always come first when we started this.”
“Oi, lovebirds! Come on, we got a legend to uncover!” Phee called from the doorway.
“One day.” Hunter promised.
“I know.” You pressed your forehead into his. It’s just right now, the opportunity is gone and that’s okay. We can just stick to the day job and grab time together when we can. We’ve managed all this time; we’ll be just fine. You rubbed your thumb gently along his tattooed cheekbone before you picked up his helmet and you both boarded the ship.

Jaune had to check to make sure team rwby was real. So he is hallucinating. So that mean he has gone mad from loneliness
The first time it happens is just after the one month mark.
Jaune has set up a temporary camp on the shore of the golden ocean. Temporary because he won’t be staying long, his friends will land on the too-gold sands any day now and then they’ll all get out of here.
His stupidity can’t have flung him that far back in time. Surely gods don’t hate him that much.
He’s taken to patrolling the shore searching for Crescent Rose whenever he can’t sleep.
Which is often.
The weapon fell along side him, after all, and he knows that Ruby will want her scythe back. He has to fight down the sly little voice in the back of his mind that hisses that he’s just trying to buy her forgiveness. It’s quite literally the least he can do in repentance for murdering her…
Friend? Girlfriend? Jaune’s never been the best at figuring out romantic relationships.
As far as Jaune has seen, he’s the only human sort of person living here. There’s dozens of mice, and he’s long grown used to the fact that they can talk. If there’s people living further inland, Jaune doesn’t know. The jungle spits him back out on the beach whenever he ventures more than twenty feet inside.
Stupid jungle.
So it takes him aback when he spots what is undoubtedly a person peeking at him from behind a palm tree.
Twin silver eyes gaze out of the shadows, a red cape dappled with the shadows of leaves.
“Ruby…?” Her name drops from Jaune’s lips in barely more than a whisper. She smiles, turns, walks back into the jungle.
It takes him a second to remember to breath, because holy shit! She’s here! He’s not alone anymore!
“Ruby! Ruby wait-” Jaune calls, jerking into motion and kicking up sand in his haste. “Ruby thank the gods I-” He chokes out a sob, smiling through tears and pushing leaves out of the way. “I thought I’d never see any of you again”
He steps into a clearing. But nobody is there.
Jaune stops short.
But Ruby was… she was right in front of him he saw her. He saw her! Jaune whirls around, sure he’s about to find his best friend hiding ready to startle him. Because why else would she be missing? Where is she?!
The bright colored pelican bird (Dodo, he’s taken to calling it) squawks, startling Jaune out of his thoughts.
He jumps a foot in the air, and tragically there’s no one around to hear the very undignified shriek he lets out. “Dodo, don’t do that to me!” Jaune reprimands, a hand on his chest.
He’d give more than anything to hear his friends laughing at him good-naturedly. Or heck, even cruelly. What he wouldn’t give to hear another person right now.
A yawn creeps up on him, and he slumps. Guess he imagined the whole thing. The flawless moon hangs above him in the sky, mocking him in its perfection because it’s not right.
He really hasn’t been sleeping well…
Months turn to seasons, and seasons turn to years. Other than the shift of the suns and the perfect moon, it’s hard to tell if time is passing. Jaune tries to keep a tally with a rock, but the waves wash away his effort.
Ruby won’t leave him alone, and as the months pass neither do her teammates. He never saw any of them land, but here they are regardless of all logic.
Not that this place seems to put that much stock in logic.
They never say anything. Just smile and watch him from the tree line. Or the doorway of his hut. Or where the waves crash on the sand.
There’s nothing real about their smiles.
Blake’s cheeks don’t dimple the same way, there’s no warmth in Yang’s eyes. Weiss’s smile is as unfeeling as the day they met, and Ruby’s grin isn’t the crooked one his friend always wears.
And no matter how Jaune tries, he can’t follow them far into the shade of the trees. Dodo squawks chidingly at him whenever he ventures into the jungle and it spits him back out onto the beach.
Part of him wonders if this is his penance, if he’s actually dead. Cursed to remain forever on this beach haunted by the specters of those he’s killed. But that can’t be right, because then where is Penny?
Where is Pyrrha?
The only way he can really tell that the years are moving on without him is the rust that gathers on his armor. It takes him a year before he realizes his hair is at his shoulders again. It’s like nothing has changed since Beacon.
He laughs until he cries.
Pyrrha’s sash frays from constant washing in golden saltwater until he has to untie it from his waist. “I don’t want to get rid of it.” Jaune finds himself speaking to the apparitions, even though they’re one hundred percent not real. He must really be going crazy. “What do you think?”
Blake’s dark hair buffets in the wind and she smiles her empty smile.
“You’re right.” Jaune uses the precious scarps to tie back his hair into a short ponytail. “Guess I finally got that warrior’s wolf tail.” His laughter sounds hollow even to his own ears.
Blake walks into the jungle. Jaune can’t follow.
His shield tarnishes, Pyrrha’s metal going from gold, to bronze, to rust. Jaune blinks and days pass. The suns whip across the heavens as he sits in one place.
His hair is past his shoulders. He’s no longer certain that RWBY aren’t real.
It’s midday and Jaune lays sprawled on the beach, one arm over his eyes, blocking the suns. He’s too tired to remove his armor even if the rust let him. What’s the point of moving if nothing ever changes?
“I’m boiling alive out here,” he groans. He feels weak and floaty, his brain not quite tethered to his body. “Did we make it to Vacuo?”
Weiss smiles down at him, flawless and silent as ever. The humidity doesn’t touch her, even as Jaune burns alive.
“Yeah,” he agrees. His head flops onto the sand. “I never thought I’d miss Solitas.”
Weiss walks into the jungle. Jaune can’t follow.
“How do you deal with this?” he whines, voice like a child even as time weathers his features. He’s battling with tangles in his ever lengthening hair, glaring at Yang’s perfectly coiffed curls as he does so.
Yang smiles at him, eyes empty. She reminds him so much of his sisters, in temperament as well as looks.
“Just stand there, sure,” he grumbles, combing his hair out with his fingers. Why won’t she just help him? Why won’t any of them just help him?!
Yang walks into the jungle. Jaune can’t follow.
His muscles are weighed down by new armor and the weight of years. Crescent Rose is found and tucked safely away. And there, as if she felt her weapon’s call, stands Ruby in his doorway.
“I found it,” he says, voice cracking. She smiles at him, her eyes as unfeeling as the metal of their name. “I finally found Crescent Rose!”
His armor is rusted so that he can barely move, Penny’s blood on his sword has damaged the shattered blade beyond all recovery. But Crescent Rose is perfect.
Jaune is broken, rusting, corroding away mind and body and soul. And before him Ruby stands. With that damned smile on her face.
“Can I leave? Please, I found it can I just-” Jaune doesn’t know who he’s talking to anymore. His friends that can walk away while he’s forced to wait behind? That charge forward into a place they know he can’t follow?
Or himself. The idiot coward failure of a hero who can’t seem even die properly.
Ruby smiles at him.
“I know, I know,” Jaune sighs. He turns his gaze back to the ocean. “I can’t follow any of you anyway.” His voice sounds like his father’s, like his grandfather’s. How long has he been on this beach, waiting?
Unable to just move on?
Ruby turns and walks into the jungle. For once, he doesn’t watch her leave.
Because Jaune is watching the sky above him, hand out stretched, to where two meteors of cool blue fire streak across flawless moon.

Prompt 30 - NDU Verse (Pitchiner and Pitch)
________________________
“Skiing?” “Good God, no.”
“Ice fishing? Snowshoeing? Tobogganing?”
“I haven’t a clue what that last one is, but it sounds truly vulgar.”
“Oh, come ON. It’s like a long flat sled that’s got a big curl up front, but no runners. You can fit like four or five kids on it, you shoot down the highest hill you can find, and you all jump off before you fall into the ravine or hit a tree.”
“Then I certainly haven’t participated in such a thing.”
“Seriously? Nobody ever did winter stuff with you when you were a kid? That’s just sad.”
“Winter weather out-of-doors involves getting cold and wet. I would think you would know me well enough by now to realize that being cold and wet irks me."
Pitch leaned forward from where he was perched on Coz's lap and gave him a rare, affectionate cheek nuzzle instead of a spiteful ear nip. He continued, "If you can keep your mind out of the gutter, I'm sure you can guess my OTHER favorite indoor winter sport, by simple process of elimination."
Coz gave him a shit-eating grin back. "Hmmmm… pickleball?"
That earned Coz a hard smack on the shoulder as Pitch hissed like a scalded cat. “Do you really think my mother would allow such a pedestrian, uncultured, NOISY pastime in her house?”
“Nah, I guess not. Alright, Mr. ‘I’m too sexy for my pickleball’, I give up.  What indoor winter sport does the lofty Black family approve of and you call your favorite?”
With the air of one conveying a secret for the ages, Pitch replied proudly, "Ice skating!"
Coz mulled that over, confused for a minute until he figured out that by "indoor winter sport", Pitch was referring to an actual skating rink. He responded, "Huh. We finally have something in common."
“You skate?”
“Of course I skate.  You can’t grow up on the border of The Great White North without learning how to ice skate.”
“I’m not talking about ice hockey, you oaf.”
“Neither am I! Not to mention being part Russian. It's in the blood. You’d be surprised at what I can get up to when I’m bladed up.”
“Hmmmph.”
“I’m guessing that you and Piki grew up with little silver blades on your feet, to go with the silver spoons in your mouths.”
He'd meant that to sound banter-y, but it was apparently the wrong thing to say.
“If you’re going to be rude, I’m going to skip this line of inquiry.” Pitch started to wriggle off of Coz's lap, but not before Coz saw a flash of hurt quickly cross his bedmate's sharp-featured face. He shot out one beefy arm, circled Pitch's slim waist with it, and hauled him back in, holding him close to his chest.
"Hey. Hey, hey. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I was only trying to say you must have been really cute on skates when you were a kid."
"Hmmph," Pitch groused again, but sounding less annoyed this time. He relaxed a bit in Coz's grip.
"My Russian great-aunt ran a skating concession stall up in Malone when I was little," Coz continued, "and she was really patient with the kids. If I close my eyes, I can see you there, too."
"Maybe in another lifetime," Pitch said musingly. "I doubt that my parents ever wintered  north of Saratoga Springs."
Coz wisely held his tongue this time, resisting the urge to scoff at the notion of rich people “wintering” in spots that saw not even half the snow he was used to. He said instead, “So. You. Me. Ice skating. Interested?”
“You’re on. But ***I *** get to pick where and when.”
“Anything you say, dear.”
_____________
“You do know we could have just driven down, parked at my grandparents' place, and taken the subway here, don’t you?” asked Coz a week later from the backseat of the town car he and Pitch were currently riding in.
“Yes, we COULD have,” replied Pitch smugly, “but I wouldn’t want you all tired out and stiff before we even got to the rink.” Pitch couldn’t help grinning at the double entendre he’d slipped in there, and from the grin and the “oh HO” he got as an answer, Pitchiner hadn’t missed it.
He gave himself a pat on the back. Had this been his twin brother trying to impress Jack Sickle, Piki would have sprung for buying a VIP package with unlimited skate time, never thinking to ask if Jack even LIKED ice skating, finding out the hard way about Jack’s traumatic past experiences with frozen water, and then flailing around for the rest of the date while Jack fell apart emotionally.
Pitch had more awareness of others’ sensibilities than Piki did, or ever would. [Never mind that it had been PROTO who’d told Pitch about how Jack’s sister died.  Information was still information.] He gave himself credit in finding out what Pitchiner considered fun, and had planned this outing accordingly.
And no, this was not a date. He wasn't in love with dating Pitchiner.
Yes, it was Rockefeller Center. But no, he wasn’t trying to make a splash with money the way Piki would have.  Pitch’s current intent was to rent some skates and to do two 40-minute skate sessions with food and hot beverages in-between. Even the round trip limo service that he'd arranged between the NDU campus and midtown Manhattan was a practical concern, not meant to be flamboyant.
Nothing extravagant, therefore. Just something that normal people did at Christmas time.
Not a date.
He promised himself he wouldn’t laugh… much… at Pitchiner’s skating. After all, The Rink at Rockefeller Center was not some glazed-over puddle in the backwoods. Indoor ice skating required thoughtful panache, not mindless brawn.
An hour later, Pitch found himself taken aback.
He was used to looking at Pitchiner with attraction and lust. And quite frankly, who wouldn’t? He was muscled in all the right places and had a handsome face, even with the crooked nose.
Pitchiner in bed with Pitch was one tasty feast of a man.
Pitchiner on the lacrosse field was an unstoppable force of nature, one Pitch had to admire even if he didn’t understand the rules of the game. Not that Pitch would ever admit to such admiration out loud.
But Pitchiner on ice skates… well, “beautiful” was the first word that leapt to Pitch’s mind, and once having leapt there, the word “beautiful” refused to be dislodged.
Somehow Pitchiner managed to convert his formidable muscle and sinew into something tight and focused. He wasn’t showy with his axels and spins. But he stuck every landing, pulled himself into and out of crouches and slides, and dammit, his sensual movements made Pitch regret his extra layers of clothing.
Pitch had at first restricted himself to circling the outer perimeter of the rink, with occasional twirls when he could be sure not to crash into other skaters. Having seen Pitchiner in action, he made up his mind to let loose, just a little.
He put on a bit of speed and caught up to Pitchiner, pulling just ahead of him in the circuit. Wordlessly he held out one gloved hand and was relieved to have Pitchiner reaching back.
Together they skated in silence, hand in hand, keeping pace with each other, complicated feelings on both sides expressed in motion, without words.

★ Popular ★
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've only seen fics of Our Life Now And Forever MC’s being shy and quiet. So I decided to make a fc with a popular MC for fun. It occurs during step one.
BLUE : MC
PINK : Tamarak
ORANGE : Qiu
Tumblr media
★ Autumn Has Always Been My Favourite Season : 1) Popular ★
Yet again you sat on the plastic slippery red chair next to Tamarack. Mrs Murray was talking about… something? You hadn't really been paying attention, of course you enjoyed Mrs Murray's teaching but today…
Today you had been sucked into your imagination and thoughts.
You were popular.
You thought at least, Ma had said you were. She talked about how whenever you were around people they liked to hang around you.
The fact that you were new already dragged a lot of attention to you in the first place.
You knew Qiu was popular but you didn't think you were as popular…
Were you?
You hung around Qiu a lot. Ever since you arrived at Golden Grove you had stuck with him and Tamarack, and they chose to stick with you too.
It was only nature that you'd end up talking to Qiu’s fans and admirers at some point. Maybe they'd turned into your fans too?
Tamarack and Qiu said that you were cool, smart, kind, interesting, and all that stuff but you never thought about it too much. It was sort of hard for you to believe that you were actually all that, originally you thought they were just being nice but… Maybe you really were that and more, enough for people to actually want to get to know you.
Absentmindedly you taped your cool gell pen against the hard wood surface of your little desk.
Tap, tap, tap.
With every tap of your pen you seemed to get further and further into thought.
Maybe because Qiu chose to hang out with you people though you were cool too?
You flipped open you travel sized sketch book and began doodling aimlessly.
You smiled softly looking at it, Qiu and Tamarack had bought it together for your birthday.
It was sort of weird that people wanted to follow you around like minions.
You thought about lunch time. You routine was roughly the same every day but there was always a little fan group around you.
You didn't eaven notice until now.
You traced the edge of the small book. The cover was made of a sleek black leather with little painted on silver stars and moons. In the front page there was a note written by Qiu and Tamarack had drew you a little picture of all three of you.
You were pulled out of your thoughts as you felt someone tap your shoulder.
“What's up?”
You answered without looking at who it was first. You closed your scetchbook at looked at whoever needed you attention.
It was Qiu with Tamarack standing right next to him.
“Oh!”
“Hi.”
“Hey, are you coming it's lunch?”
Qiu looks at you with his trademark smile shineing brightly.
It never failed to make your heart race every time. You smiled softly at the both of them.
“Yeah.”
You stood up and pushed the hard plastic chair back into its place and of your little trio went to the cafeteria.
“Are you ok?”
“You seem spacy.”
“Yeah, you were zoning out for the whole of class.”
“I'm fine.”
You smile happily walking into the cafeteria and up to the line with them.
“Just thinking.”
“About what?”
“Being popular.”
“Popular?”
“What do you mean?”
Tamarak and Qiu both look puzzled by what you said.
“Well…”
You trailed of thinking about what to say next.
“I’ve noticed that there's always a group of people around us… sort of like fans or something. I dunno, it's stupid. Nevermind.”
“No! You've said it now you have to finish!”
Qiu looks at you teasingly and Tamarack bounced up and down on the balls of her feat.
“Yeah! Come onnnn.”
You laugh softly at there antics.
“mmh, ok then.”
“I mean, I think we're like a little exclusive group of cool kids to everyone else.”
Qiu shrugs before his trademark smile returned.
“We are cool.”
“Yeah! Super cool!”
“I guess we are.”

The toybox
I've been meaning to do this for a while, to put together a few pics of the various bits of kinky this and thats that I've been getting over the years. I'll update this as I take new pics and so on. I am informed that this is a lot. I didn't think it was a lot, but it is.
This is mostly meant to be a companion to my ask tasks list so that people who want to get really creative with a task can see what I've got to work with, though this is not gonna be everything I've got about the place so it's still worth asking if there's something not pictured here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So there's the hitty things and the tickly things. Using these on myself can be a little hard but the silver paddle in the hitty things pic is pretty easy to use on myself. I haven't had much success with self-ticking though. I do have my nestie who can be called upon to do some hitty/tickly things too. The last thing on this line is my tens unit, this is new and I haven't played with it much, which is why it's not on my ask task list.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My pile of restraints is far bigger than what's pictured here, but this is what's most effective at what it does. I've got several 10m bundles of rope, two 5m bundles, a matching set of locking pink cuffs with a collar, two spreader bars, and three sets of stocks. One with neck and wrist holes, one with ankle and wrist holes, and the last with all three. I also have a large metal bondage frame that secures me kneeling, bent over with my arms and legs spread out.
The mitts there should really be in with the petplay bits below, but I am also a bit of an escape artist (I don't mean to be, it's just that as soon as I know I can escape, I sorta just do) so these are as useful at keeping me bound as they are good for pet time.
I have tape and cling film about the house, too. The last pic is my collection of gags. From top to bottom, a harness which has a small penis gag, a ballgag (my favourite), an inflatable gag, a good old bit gag, and the bottom ball gag has a long deep-reaching penis attached to it that I'm still trying to get used to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly is the petplay stuff. The first pic is a set of crawling restraints that take forever to get on and needs a second pair of hands to manage. Very fun to play with, when there's enough time and energy to play with it. The last one has some collars (I forgot to take pictures of the leads that came with them too), a tail-plug, some nipple suckers, and a couple of pegs i guess? I do have some clover clamps but they are way too harsh for me to use in ask tasks and online play.
I could take pictures of all the various dicks, dildos, and plugs I've got about the place too, but I'm trying not to push my luck on here. I've got two plugs and a chastity belt that keeps them in place. Because my various holes have varying levels of tightness, I use a realistic dildo for sucking, a somewhat smaller one for my cunt, and a different one for anal. I've got strap-on harnesses too.
I've also got two egg vibrators (for simultaneous front and back), a magic wand (and a harness to hold a magic wand in place), and my two lovense vibrators (an egg vibe and a clit vibe).
If there's anything missing you think I should have, you should definitely let me know, too. I've got plans to catalogue my control-wear and fetishwear, though it might be a bit before I get there with all that.

2003 Gio✨✨
Recently started watching 2003, but the website I was using only had up to season 3, and then the other seasons are wonky and missing episodes.. Let's say I know mostly up until Leo returns from training with the Ancient One and that whole fight with Karai. Besides all that I've adapted my Rise OC Caravaggio into 2003.
Tumblr media
I don't mean simply drawing him in the 2003 style, no, I worked with my friend to adapt mostly his personality into 2003 (as the teetlez often have different personalities in each iteration).
It was a draw between "Paranoid Survivialist" and "Emo" and Emo won the draw, I'll explain more as I go along.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did research and here's the "Emo" parts overall: Gio feels sectioned from society as a mutant turtle (obviously), and instead of allowing any personal connections and positive emotions he's decided it's better to expect the worst and try not to build too close a bond with anyone in his family. He loves his brothers and Splinter but he pushes away from them to remain in misery of the fact only bad things can happen (it gets weird to explain but I hope people get the jist), and the rest of his time when not fighting is spent lamenting pretty much everything. It's never that he's always moping, he's always ready to help fight the Shredder or whatever is threatening New York. And even if he thinks always expecting the worse prepares him for the worse, when really bad things happen to his brothers.. the emotions hit him harder than he thought they could.
Tumblr media
2003 Gio is passionate about a few things, he loves coffee.. and waffles. He doesn't really do video-games or watch television since they are, "mere empty distractions for the miserable reality of existence" as he puts it. On the other hand, despite him trying to push away he has his relations with his brothers✨ Leo is the one who tries to reach out to him the most, he wants Gio to know somebody is there and everything's okay and all that. It does get rough when Leo gets all moody and angy. They begin to fight because Gio tells Leo, "You're being an idiot with your emotions." and Leo just.. that's an infodump for another time. Bottom line Gio doesn't like Leo trying so hard and is repelled by his positive persistence. Donnie likes to spend time with Gio and doesn't mind their three-word conversations. When Gio is bored he watches Donnie work and lets Donnie explain how everything works in whatever he makes. Gio is curious and likes to know information. Raph hangs around the most because Gio doesn't mind Raph's energy and I will say Raph is kinda the sweetest brother. Raph hangs around Gio mostly because he also doesn't mind Gio being more pessimistic but will still try to bring a silver lining. And with Mikey.. Mikey has no idea what to think of Gio based on Gio's attitude and interests. Gio feels indifferent about Mikey. While he would be repelled by Mikey's energy Gio almost feels pity that Mikey seems mostly oblivious to "the inevitable" and Gio maybe grows protective of that. Gio will always go on about never being accepted by anyone or anything and he can't relate to anyone or anything. His brothers have tried but in the end Gio's still right because he's the only one who feels this way about their situation.
Tumblr media
Other things I guess: It's not uncommon for Gio to get lost somewhere new. He's curious and will wander off to look at stuff. The Gio constant has Gio also being able to somehow sense when someone is leaving their rooms at night so he wakes up and either finds them or waits until they return (it gets REAL bad when Leo leaves for 2 months. It's a way he's worried for his family, he stays until they return because he doesn't know if they're safe while they're gone and if they return then it's okay to sleep). Some Gio-in-an-episode details: In the first Shredder attack, that's how Gio got the scar on his face. The Shredder swiped and Gio moved but got that scar. And in "Tales of Leo" Gio tells a story about how when he was younger he was VERY reactive to emotions (insane tantrums, throwing stuff, etc.) and for the most part Splinter would just leave Gio until he was done, but Leo sat there and said he's wait and then Gio would actually talk through his emotions with Leo. Gio closes with, "I'll wait for you too Leo. Until you're ready." And ye✨ In the episodes where the brothers are all in different dimensions, I've planned that Gio ends up in the genderbent dimension (but a drawing will be shown of that only later). In the season 3 finale Shredder fight Gio gets both his wrists either fractured or broken, and (it's a Gio canon event) his shell is cracked. Fixed up with some Utrom Plaster. He just doesn't have sensation in his legs until his turtle power fix up the nerves (because turtles can regenerate nerve tissue apparently).
Tumblr media
This is just to show 2003 Gio lamenting and the difference of Rise Donnie and Gio, and then 2003 Donnie and Gio✨
Tumblr media
And this drawing shows Gio being "Emo" I guess. Some more expressions and twitchy fingers when unhappy stimulation.
A big 'ol infodump in between many doodles of 2003 Gio.
Tumblr media
And yes I HAVE drawn all the 2003 boys. So ye
I like 2003✨

Cyberpunk: Twin Flames - Ch 5
A SilverV fic
Linked psyches. That was Alt's solution for them. Two bodies -- their own bodies. But souls and minds still intertwined -- feeling each other's pain and emotions. Never too far away, never far behind.
There could never be one without the other.
______________________________________________________
I just posted my fifth chapter of my Johnny Silverhand/Fem!V fic over on my AO3. If you are interested in reading, I have put a snippet below. You can also read the rest of my fic over on AO3!
______________________________________________________
“You nervous?”
V flashed Johnny a look. He knew exactly how she felt — not like she was trying to hide it anyways. Her fingers were twitching on the steering wheel as she followed behind Teddy’s dirty van the next morning. The suspension on her truck groaning with the desert hills. She squinted from the sun beating down through her windshield, keeping her eyes on the dirt road. “Just trying to figure out what I’m going to say to Panam.
“She’s a smart girl. She’ll figure it out pretty fast once she sees me.”
Her mouth twitched. “I guess.”
“At least she already knew about me, right?” The Rockerboy shrugged.
“Yeah…” V was grateful when the cat was out of the bag with Panam. It was pretty hard to hide it after she’d almost got zeroed by the relic in front of her. But it was a weight off her shoulder regardless, having to not hide it — to be able to speak about Johnny to someone who didn’t know him from before like Rogue and Kerry. “You never told me how Misty and Vik reacted to you.”
His dark brows furrowed as he thought back, “I mean — they just accepted it.”
“Really?”
“You were flatlining in my arms V,” He said gruffly, his mood souring as he recalled that night just a month ago.
She grimaced, “Right.”
“I mean — Vik definitely fuckin’ hates me." He sucked his teeth, "Not sure if it’s ‘cause he has such a hard on for you or because he’s old enough to actually remember what a bastard I was—“
She cut him off, taking her eyes off of the road to flash him a look, “Vik doesn’t have a hard on for me.”
He arched his brow, scoffing at her. “The innocent act is getting old V,”
“It’s not a fuckin’ act," Her nostrils flared, "You thinking every single person who I talk to wants to get in my pants — that’s getting old.”
He scoffed again, staring out the the window and avoiding V’s eyes, “Sure,”
“Vik is family — he’s saved my ass more then anyone else I know.”
He rolled his dark eyes as he looked back over at her, “And why do you think he does that V? Out of the goodness of his heart?”
“At first, yeah. But now—“
Johnny finally looked back at her, shaking his head. “Nobody’s that good, princess. Everyone’s got a reason for doing something.”
Her back molars clicked together, her mouth forming a hard line. “Way to see the silver lining in everything, Silverhand.”
She felt a flash of heat, anger course through her — his anger. “Just drop it, V.”
“Can’t just order me to stop talkin’ about it—“
“I don’t want to anymore.”
“Well I do!" V raised her voice, tired of him controlling the conversation. "What’s your deal with him? Vik’s my family Johnny, I owe him a fuckin’ lot. And now the most important person in my life, is fuckin’ huffing and puffing because apparently the only possible way anyone could want anything to do with me is to get into my goddamn pants.”
“Fine." He spat, "You wanna know why am I’m mad?”
“Yes.”
He twisted in the passenger seat, moving his body so it was completely facing her. Both his metal and 'ganic hand flinging in the air as he spoke animatedly. “I’m fucking mad because how well he knows you. I hate him and Misty and Panam, all of your stupid fucking friends. Because they know you.”
Her blue eyes were darting between him and the dirt road ahead, “What are you talking about, Johnny? No one knows me better than you.”
“Yeah because of the fuckin’ chip, V.” His voice turned quiet, soft. Uncertainty waving off of him.
Her eyebrows met in the middle, a hard line forming between them. “That’s not true.”
“The chip’s what gave me access to your head.”
“Johnny… I’ve told you things I’ve never told anyone." She blindly reached across, grabbing onto his leg for a moment. "Not even Jack. Tell that green monkey on your back to fuck off, kay?”
He stayed silent, processing, before nodding at her.
Her face turned serious, a flicker of anger shimmering in her eyes before it disappeared again. “And even if someone does want to get in my fucking pants, doesn’t mean I’m gonna let them.”
Johnny’s face softened, “Right.” He looked out through the side window for a moment before turning back to her, “Most important person in your life hey?”
“Oh shut up,” She smirked, before turning her eyes back to the road — searching for Teddy's van again.
“Jackie knew you pretty well. And fast.” He said simply, eyes studying her.
Her bottom lip quivered at the mention of his name, “You spend every waking moment with someone bound to happen. Chip or not.”
They both knew it was a sensitive thing to bring up. Something that they never touched on, hadn't ever really got near. She'd never gotten anytime to really think on it. To grieve Jackie, to miss him. It was a hole that they'd both watched get bigger and bigger in her for some time. So big now, neither of them really knew how to approach it.
“Sorry I’ll never get to meet him.”
Instant tears welled in her eyes, but she kept them glued to the windshield, “Me too.” She croaked, her voice breaking and a couple tears snuck out, rolling down her checks.
“Hey—“ His dark eyes were crinkled with guilt, as he felt a crack of pain in his chest — just an echo of what was happening in her. He reached out and pressed soothing fingers on her wrist. “Picked the wrong topics today. I’m sorry.”
“S’okay.” She whispered back.
He intertwined his fingers through hers, before pulling them towards him. He placed a soft kiss on her knuckles.
V wasn’t sure she’d ever seen him touch so softly.
You can finish the rest of this chapter, or read my whole fic on AO3!

i don't think some people, heterosexual or otherwise (depending on upbringing) are able to comprehend the hellworld that is internalized homophobia if they haven't personally experienced it, especially at a young age.
i'm not trying to create some kind of cool kids 'you don't get it' club, in fact i'm very happy for the percentage of us who aren't straight and have somehow managed to avoid this, be it thanks to loving/supportive parents or the positive reception of non-het orientations online or an unwavering conviction that there is nothing wrong with them (and there isn't!). however, i do find that the lack of this experience can result in a lack of understanding, and that lack of understanding can lead to… callousness at best, disrespect at worst.
it's a difficult thing to talk about, and i think i've retyped this sentence alone like fifty times, but i really think this is a discussion worth having, so here i go. i don't think there are words in any dictionary of any language in the world that i could string together and accurately portray the dread that settles over you, like the world's most fucked up weighed blanket, when you first start entertaining the thought you might be gay. following this, i don't think i could adequately describe the bone-deep, soul-crushing horror of finally admitting defeat—finally admitting that despite your best efforts, despite your sincerest wishes, you are gay. thinking about it now is surprisingly hard, even though it's been just about a decade for me (wow). i guess that sort of feeling—an amalgamation of fear, hatred, disgust, more fear, panic, anxiety, anger—never does leave you, only recedes. okay, what a curious thing to find out just now. but, right, back to the point. it is truly one of the worst things anyone could go through, i think, let alone a child, let alone for at least four-five years before reaching some degree of self-acceptance, let alone alone.
there is this specific memory i have, and i really wanted to talk about it. i was fourteen years old, just having come to terms with being a homosexual (for the three years prior, i'd clung to the bisexual label like a lifeline.) by that i don't mean i'd accepted it at all, i only mean that i'd realized i could no longer kid myself. and the realization had come to me during a run-of-the-mill school day, apropos of nothing. it might've hit me and clicked during math class for all i know. but what i do know, what i remember, is being driven home from school hours later, deep in thought in the back of my grandpa's car, staring out the window and giving myself a very particular mental pep talk: 'love isn't something you will get to experience in life, and that's okay. you need to come to terms with this. there's more to life than love & if you don't start seeing this, you'll be miserable for a long time. what do you need love for anyway? learn to live knowing it'll not come and you'll be fine.' paraphrased, but you get the gist of it. looking back to it, it makes me so… so sad. when i'd called myself bisexual, those three years, even in the fog of intense internalized homophobia, i hadn't given up on love. i'd had this thought in my head, i remember telling this to myself very clearly before tehnički class one october: 'you can still hide this part of you and fall in love with a boy.' yes, i was a dirty freak and an abomination of nature for being into girls, but at least there was the silver-lining of a possible heterosexual relationship. but at fourteen, with that pipe-dream gone, i was forced to face the inevitability of my loveless, miserable, lesbian life. about a month after this, i would try to take my life for the first time. thinking about this chain of events makes me feel feral with anger, for that scared little kid that was me, and for every other scared, suicidal gay little kid in the world.
a little over half a year later, i met my first girlfriend, and though that relationship crashed and burned and left me irrevocably changed as a person after its four-year lifespan, at the time it had shown me that i could be loved (because here i was, being loved) and that i wasn't a lost cause. and only when i felt that sort of love from another person had i been able to start unpacking the absolute mountains of self-hatred and internalized homophobia i had acquired over the years. at sixteen i'd started running a semi-popular lesbian positivity account, and through it i'd developed connections to other lesbians, which also strengthened this newfound belief that maybe i wasn't Something Bad—because, look, there are others like me. i'd also been in therapy for some time, and though my therapist wasn't the best in many ways, and was also a kinda tone-deaf straight woman, she did make me feel more normal when no other adult did.
and i guess what i'm getting at i'd only really started feeling comfortable in my own skin, in my lesbian identity/orientation, around seventeen. at least comfortable enough to say it with my full chest to my real life friends (although i could still only say gay, not lesbian.) so, from figuring out i liked girls at eleven, it took me six-ish years to be okay with it. six years of various degrees of utter inner agony about something i could not change. i don't think some people understand what that does to a person, a kid, a teen. i don't think some people can even begin to understand what it's like. you could listen to us, people like me, talk about this sort of thing for a hundred hours straight, and i don't think you could wrap your head around it even a little. a lot of people have it worse than me, too. a lot of people remain in agony for many more years than just six, well into adulthood. some people die like this. not a month ago, i found myself feeling intensely ashamed of my desires, apropos of nothing. brushing twenty-one years old, thinking i'd overcome this particular burden, it hit me like a train. still here, still lurking. a degree of self-hatred i apparently cannot unlearn. it's devastating. i wonder how long i'll keep carrying this, and i wonder if the answer is 'forever'. you know? i get the feeling, sometimes, that internalized homophobia is trivialized. or at least not at all taken half as seriously as it should be, reduced to being uncomfy with your gayness a little bit. it's so much more than that. i don't know. i feel like i went on several tangents here, on this absolute monster of a post, but i just wanted to get this off my chest. sorry for getting serious do you still think i'm hot

Quick warning, it's a rough draft.

"-And then he had the nerve to tell me that I was using too much pink, and I just wanted to scream at him, because, I'm sorry, are we even looking at the same design right now? Cause I'm pretty sure I'm not the one copying that neon pink eye gouger of a clown dress completely, right, DYLAN?! Ugh, sorry, you already have to deal with this most of the day and now here I am talking your ear off at almost one in the morning."
"It's perfectly fine Gabe. I admit that it's rather nice to see you let yourself be passionate about your work again. However, I feel like you've been dodging what's really been bothering you."
Gabriel looked to the side, he had been avoiding the reason he was still awake at this ungodly hour but he was running out of distractions. Perhaps it was time to face the problem.
"...It's about Queen Bee."
"You mean the mayor's daughter? What about her?"
"You recall that during yesterday's Akuma there was a small accident during the fight that caused her to venom Chat noir?"
"I didn't see that on the ladyblog live stream, did that really happen?"
"Yes, and while she did figure out to undo the magic, she took it quite hard. I found her on that houseboat on the Seine, the one owned by the… Coffees, was it?"
"Couffaine, sir. Their daughter is in Adriens class, the one you said might make a good model for the gothic line once it gets approved for production."
"Right, her family's boat. I tried talking to Queen Bee but she believed it was fully her fault for what had happened. I wasn't quite sure what to say so I ended up repeating a speech from one of Adrien's favorite movies."
"Let me guess, Mr. Silver's speech to Jim?"
"Was it that obvious?"
"The Akuma you mentioned was pirate themed, you were on the so-called 'Pirate Queens' ship and Chloè was in emotional distress about an accident she had no control over. Seems fitting to me."
"Fair enough. It played out almost the same way from there. It was at that moment that I realized just how… how small she was."
"She's just a child, Nathalie. A child I was going to make into a monster all because I couldn't let go of a grudge against those damn heroes."
"It never stopped you with Akumatizing all those other people"
"That's different. Akumatiztion is temporary, undone simply by breaking the item or recalling the butterfly. I never had to know who they were, or what their life was like, just that they were distressed and susceptible. Actively manipulating their thinking to be a villain for the sole reason of hounding that blasted duo? It's not something you can just handwave or lucky charm away."
"Sir…?"
"... I'm done, Nathalie. Done with it all. I'm giving myself till hero's day to keep trying, but If- no, When that fails, then it's over. Hawkmoth dies on hero's day."
"... and what about her?"
"There's more magic out there, we'll just have to keep looking for now. A labyrinth has many deadends, but there's always an exit."
"Sir."
"Sorry, it's become something of a-"
"Sir!"
Gabriel finally looked up at Nathalie to see her looking over at the windows. As he followed her sight, he saw what had her on edge.
Purple sand, flowing though the gap in the windowsill.
YES!!!!!!

Note: This is through the POV of Natemare and Phantom. This is by no means a reflection of what I think about Nate’s recent retirement in general. (All though just like always…I’m still projecting a little bit into Mare sooo….yeah-)
“And The World Keeps Turning”
Fandom: NWTB/Battle Egos
Characters: Natemare and Phantom
Tags/Type: Angst, Hurt/(Some) Comfort
Parings: UHHHHHH…..idk-
Tw: Topics of abandonment
The two entities glared up at the large screen seemingly attached to nothing as it finished off the latest video about their host’s retirement. The void was then silent for a while, neither of them wanting to speak up. That was until Phantom finally decided to cut the silence.
“So….that’s it huh? He’s really done? Sigh. I can’t believe it….he’s just…leaving us here?”
It was rhetorical, of course, seeing that the plug was already pulled. But he guess…it was still worth asking. A deep sigh came from the other before turning around and walking away from the screen.
“Of course he is. I wouldn’t expect anything less of him.”
It was trying so hard to hide behind a very thin layer of apathy but Phantom could hear the malice and hurt in his companion’s voice. Phantom turned to him, not believing in the mask for a second.
“I know your angry, Mare. You aren’t fooling me..”
Mare stopped in his tracks, his fists clenching. But he turned around to face Phantom anyways, a grin on his face.
“Nothing ever get past you, does it? Of course I’m angry. But this…this doesn’t change anything. It’s been like this for years. The only thing that changed is that he finally had the balls to say it up front.”
Phantom’s brows furrowed. He wanted to find some sort of silver lining to this. Any benefit to try and make Mare feel better about this. But nothing was coming up.
“It’s just us and…them now. It always has been and now….it always will be. If luck is with us, they’ll stay engaged enough to keep you alive.”
Phantom knew it was fruitless to even try to advocate for their….ex…host. He wasn’t even sure if he wanted to do so. So he just huffed and walked over to Mare.
“You still have me, k’know? I’m not going anywhere.”
Phantom reassured putting a hand to one of Mare’s shoulders. Mare instinctively flinched but didn’t pull away from him.
“…..Thanks, Crimson.”
But the words felt empty and uncertain. They both knew all things must come to an end.
But some ends come sooner than others.

Superman's kids ranked
Hmm guess the bottom is where I start here (please note I have not been able to read the dailies)
Wait. Actually there's a few unranked kids, so first a pre-ranking ranking:
Unranked (+ "Superman's" kids)
Superman-Red's Twins and Superman-Blue's Twins: they just kind of exist. They don't have any characterization at all since they don't even talk
Carl (Mr. Mxyptlk): He does a little trolling. I feel a bit bad for Larissa Lenox though
twins in Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #55: no. I don't want to think about this story.
Mooki: this isn't superman. He's neat. Robot Merkid
Lyle and Lili: that's not Lois and that's not Kal-El, it's actually his cousin and a lookalike
Superman Jr (Robin (Fred Ashley (Dick Grayson))): i uh wha. Hmm I think I'll rate him exclusively from the story. Anyways it's basically Lois pranking Superman back via blackmailing Robin (she was pretty sure Robin was one of 6 people). Uh Funny and weird I guess but that's what happens when you prank each other via pretend space travel.
Clark Jr. & Lori (Man of Tomorrow #15): they're literally demons. Anyways they're kinda bland because it's "picturesque traditional American values" that are directly opposed to Superman being more due to what they are. (also RIP Post-crisis Lana, the other main Lanas are simply built different; but also it was Neron so ...). At least Clark Jr. wanted to leave smallville
son & daughter w/Lana Lang (Action Comics #492) : R.I.P. you nonexistent kids. You seemed nice
Lois Lane's son from her coma dream (Showcase #9): uhh what a strange character to rate. So I'm just not going to. idk Superman was trying to get Lois to wake up by making her unhappy so it's weird
Orna Kal-El: alan moore did not write orna at all. She just shows up and says no lines.
Van-El: "I don't think you're real" doesn't hit as hard in the comic. Also he's kinda bland.
Extra note on the black mercy thing:why ISN'T Lyla Lerrol still an actress Moore? Please explain
Richard, M'R'R and K'R'K: nothing characters who also expanded the British empire. this should've ended with K'L'L dismantling the British empire
Twins, with Lois Lane (Adventures of Superman #561): they just sorta exist in Supes's dream. Remind me of the more troublemaker versions of Silver Age twins though (probably a reference since it was a Dominus Effect Epilogue)
Lara Lane Kent (Injustice dream): actually a good character. too bad she's basically the conscience of a man who's basically the worst superman ever.
Martha (Man of Tomorrow #15): She seemed nice despite being fake. At least Clark actually being superman in this fake reality means that she actually gets to do stuff. She wants to go to the moon again. That's it. That's the whole character
onto superman's actual kids;
#55: JLA: Act of God baby; I hate him and everything he stands for
#54: The Others (JLA: Created Equal): Unlike Adam they don't feel sad about being misogynistic and have a change of heart after not during the Luthor fight
#53: Adam Kent: according to the text itself Lex only heightened his misogyny
#52: Kara (and the others) (JLA: Created Equal): She's a girl so she isn't misogynistic. Unfortunately it's weird because she's Power Girl's daughter. seems like a nice person though. these 3 might just be because of me just not vibing with the story but ehh w/e
#51: Lar-El and Vara: these 2 are just kinda really bland. doesn't help that they only show up twice. there's the interesting hook of feeling that Superman abandoned them, but it's too little.
#50: The Twins (World's Finest 35)
Tumblr media
I think this basically sums it up. They're basically used as bratty normal babies that Clark gets annoyed by
#49: Bruce Kent: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will complain about the story; evil captain marvel is dumb and it's weird how different characters are affected by the apocalypse very differently. also the "we belong together" line hate when they do that, but that's not about Bruce Kent so it's moot). that's pretty much it.
#48: Jonathan Elliott: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will not). that's pretty much it.
#47: Jonathan Kent (Green Lantern: Darkstars): He exists I guess. has a bit more stuff to him, but he ends up being a good dude despite Belzebeth controlling the darkstars
#46: Lara Kent (Dark Knight/Millerverse): idk her vibes are just off. I like her but then she does something and it's like eugh Frank Miller. and her parents also being OOC does her no favors. Her appearance in the third series made me rank her worse. I do like the thing where she finally touches the ground at the end, but I just really dislike her whole character. At least her dad's more in character in the third one ig. her vibes are off
#45: Jonathan Kent (Future State): he's nice i guess. There just isn't much of him so he's right here. Not a lot of room to be a character when it's just like 5 panels
#44: Jonathan Kent (Space Age): he's nice i guess. Rated slightly higher due to a snowball fight. he doesn't do much
#43: Larry & Carole (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #36) they don't show up much and don't have much characterization besides only one of them becoming a superhero so not ranking those versions. I guess these two at least have some characterization in that they like playing with the space animals and Larry becomes Superman II
#42: Vol: he's fine he's fine. Besides being a character in one of the most batshit insane superman plots; he's just fine. At least he saved his universe and sent Sonn back to the Earth-One Universe. So uhh points for him I guess? He does a bit more than SGFLL 36 Larry and Carole so he's ranked higher. I guess
#41: Krys Kent: I liked him enough but he kinda has nothing going for him. I guess he has a bit of potential in that he could probably learn magic (he doesn't have powers). He seems nice I guess and he also has the fun line near the beginning of the story after Superman throws him, but that's about it
#40: Krys's evil ghost demon extradimensional twin: The villain has more of a character due to talking more, but really he's just evil for the sake of it. Interesting villain... ... ...I guess evil ghost extradimensional beings don't count for Superman's rules
#39: Jor-El II (Action Comics 327): really wants Clark to stop spoiling his kid. He thinks there's no such thing as crooks anymore (he's wrong), but he's always on missions doing Superman stuff I guess. there must be a lot of natural disasters I guess.
#38: Baby Bliss: toddler written during the silver age. At least he helps Clark a bit although most of the time Kal is just confused about the situation and Baby Bliss sometimes does some trickery to Superman. So I'm ranking him near the middle
#37: Lola Kent: points docked for getting with her cousin. Other than that she's good, since she has very similar characterization to pre-crisis superman, who is a pretty good character. but yeah she's down here because of Jimmy Jr. She'd probably be higher if it wasn't for Lucy Lane
#36: Jor-El II: he is a victim. this happened because his mom was a jerk and honestly I'm not sure if Lois really got through to Lois. There's also probably a better way to get through your alternate universe self who's tired of being a housewife. At least his dad was nice the whole time and even apologized about always leaving for missions. Jor-El II's life sucks and I'm not convinced it gets better. ranks low since I didn't really get anything for his characterization
#35: Clark Kent Jr (Superman #404): seems like a nice kid who loves his parents. I like the bit where Lana makes Clark Jr makes Clark gets ice cream but there's really not much here. I will say this was a very interesting imaginary story that I wouldn't mind being expanded on
#34: Superman II (Jorel Kent): he only appears in 3 Superman 2020 stories so he doesn't have much. He really is Superman II. there's not much differentiating himself from his father. Kalel has more going on just because Superman 2020 is about Kalel and not Jorel.
#33: Superman Jr. (Denny O'Neil): He's dead now. Denny O'Neil's take was weird. Still liked him though. He tried heroing even though he caused disasters everywhere he went. I guess he self-sacrificed himself for the good of reality
#32: Joel Perry Kent: He is also a victim because of Ultra Humanite. Idk I think Clark is also at fault here; just tell the dude. However him trying to kill the Vietnamese village is all on him. It doesn't say that Ultra-humanite told him to do it sooo.
#31: Jonathan Kent (Frank Millerverse): he's fine I guess. He felt like the imaginary story kids or silver age superman when he was fighting Darkseid so he ranks a bit higher. like when the supers are like tricksters
#30: Larry (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #39): He is a bit of a scamp so that's great. He does cause Jimmy to go blind and Lana to breathe fire though, but then again Clark didn't explain the black magic to anyone in the family so really that was Superman's fault.
#29: Superman Jr (World's Finest #154 & #157): started as bit of a jerk to Bruce Jr but basically mellowed out. Since he's only in 2 comics there's not much characterization here and his dynamic with his Bruce Jr isn't as great as the Bob Haney version
#28: Kara Kent: Honestly kinda bland. She has a sweet relationship with Bruce Jr, but that's basically it. Like she has half the powers of Superman and complains about it a few times, but that's really par for the course of biological superman kids. Has a bit more of stuff in Generations 2, but nothing really to make her go higher or lower on this list
#27: Supergirl (Ariella Kent)/R'E'L, the Destroyer of Worlds: reading the dc one million issue again it's not bad but the comedy doesn't land as much as it wants to. despite her crying in that one scene I just don't like her as much as the others unfortunately :/
#26: Johny Kirk (Superman Jr): Nice kid, unfortunate circumstances though. Also his ending was horrible. Where does he even live now. Like he totally should've stayed being adopted by Superman
#25: Tommy: he's just a little guy and unlike almost everyone else that's main canon, he gets a happy ending. Clark could and should check on him from time to time though. Also since he's powerless I find him more interesting than Johny
#24: Jonathan Kent II (Kingdom Come): All things considered he's pretty cool. Most of it is due to cribbing Phantom Stranger's style but he's alright. Do like how he has Hypertime powers; But other than that he's kind of just the monitor from COIE
#23 Larry and Carole* (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #23): basically more subdued versions of the twins with lady luck, so they're less fun but also they don't seem to purposefully mess with their parents like their earlier counterparts. They also have belts that can be switched on/off to stop them from having superpowers so that's interesting. They're fights also seem more playful than anything
#22::Jonathan Samuel Kent: there's a lot I do NOT like about him but there's lots of good bits and pieces. I unfortunately have to concede that he's not the worst jon.
#21: Twins, with "Lady Luck" in Superman #131: the twins are menaces. But in a fun way. They keep on fighting and messing with each other (& their parents). It's great
#20: Joan Kent: I liked her enough, Liked how she tried to trick Larry at first, although unfortunately that doesn't work and she kinda spends the whole story kidnapped by Ironclaws. I do like how she argued with Larry while Larry was evil, though it seems like they had a soft spot for each other even before Larry turned good. but she ultimately doesn't do much so I had to rank her lower. If it was more of a Joan story than a Lois story she might be ranked higher
#19: Clark Kent Jr/Superman Jr/Superboy (Superman #192 & 194): I liked him more in 192 where he was a bit more mischievous, and then started talking in gigantic words, but he was fine in 194 as well. He was even able to outsmart Lex Luthor. He'd probably be higher if he stayed more mischievous or was still using gigantic words in his vocabulary. I do really like this imaginary story plot though.
#18: Jor-El II/Nightwing (Superman #166): Good character but not as good as his brother, he's basically a kid Superman but he doesn't feel as developed as Clark Superboy. That's probably why they focused more on his brother. He teased Kal-El II at the beginning a bit too much, but he basically stops after Clark tells him to stop
#17: Pyrrhos: Pretty good villain all things considered. don't like that he was the one who killed Darkseid but that's because I read Kirby's New Gods. I liked him enough
#16: Clark Kent Jr./Superman Jr. (Bob Haney): He's great. His dynamic with Bruce Jr. is also great. He's more optimistic and more of a reader than Bruce Jr. I feel like Clark Jr is like a more hotheaded Clark. Even at their most confrontational Batman Jr. and Superman Jr remain friends. points docked a bit due to not really existing without Bruce Jr. He does have a bit of an inferiority complex ("generation gap") due to only being about half as strong as Superman so characterization bonus
#15: Cir-El is neat; the whole weird Mia thing was not. But it's ok cause I'm ranking his kids not his not kids. Kinda suffers for only being in like 13 issues, but i enjoyed her existence while she was there. Like how she kept on thinking of Superman (and Lois) as her parents even after the truth was revealed
#14 Lara Lane Kent (Adventures of Superman #638): liked what little there was of her. She seems like a neat character. Best part was the Calvin and Hobbes homage.
#13 Kal-El II/Flamebird/Kalel Kent (Superman #166): Good character, having no powers while your brother and dad do, gives ample reason for an inferiority complex. I also like how it showed he was a bit smarter due to him deciding to read more books and studying which wouldn't have happened without his inferiority complex about no powers. Also like how he kept messing up with the secret identity bit by accidentally calling Nightwing Jor when they were in Kandor
#12: Laura Kent (Superman Family #200): She's neat. Wasn't born with powers but developed them later, but like in the same day. She seems interesting enough. It ends before she can tell her parents she got powers so unfortunately she's not as high as she could be. Good character from what little we see of her though
#11: Super-Baby (Superman #224): EVIL baby. L.E.G.I.ON. ripped off this guy when they cooked with Lyrl. I like how he completely took over the villains' operations once they made themselves known. Guess he wasn't as intelligent as he thought since Superman specifically booby trapped the springs which was how to make the actual puzzle. Fun villain; just a normal baby know though
#10: Carol and Jane Kent (Secret Identity): only show up as actual characters in the last issue, but it does a decent amount building them up in how their similarities and differences to their dad. Them being less scared than Clark makes sense since they had each other.
#9: Zod (DCAU/A Better World): I actually like this kid quite a bit. Neat powers is a bonus as well. when they focused on him it was actually quite an enjoyable read
#8: Jon Kent (Son of Superman): I actually really like this Jon. He's also kinda funny sometimes. He kinda reminds me of what current Jonathan Samuel was TRYING to be but actually succeeding. It helps that the world he lives in is like our current world but a bit worse. (Some of the characters in the elseworlds feel OOC but other than that I like the story). Jon's just a good character all around.
#7: Osul-Ra & Otho-Ra: these two are pretty close in ranking since sometimes I like Otho more and sometimes I like Osul more, so I'll just put them in the same section. Depending on how other writers write them they may move up (or down). Osul has the Old God stuff while Otho has the more brash stuff.
#6: Lisa Kent/Superlass (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #91): I just like her as a character. She's nice and a bit brash at times, but honestly all around she seems to just want to help. despite the imaginary story having the end and feeling like a tragedy, it feels more hopeful than certain other stories here. She probably should've asked Lois if she wanted to be cured first though
#5: Kara (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #20): Honestly this one was just a tragedy of miscommunication, but also Kara and Kal DID ignore Lois a lot which while understandable, but uh yeah. Honestly I blame Lois having to quit her job and the midvale investigator mainly. Kara's basically mainline Kara here, which unfortunately includes the not being adopted (yet) part
#4: Laney (Superman 215): I feel like Laney has more Lois than previous lois kids with superman so she's ranked higher. She's more impatient and curious. She also kinda sorta gets a happy ending though she and clark are mourning and going through grief the whole time. ...I hope other Lois doesn't feel bad about this whole situation, but that's not me ranking Superman's kids. That's me talking about the story
#3: Christopher Kent: Yeah he's great. He's just a really nice kid, who has trauma and also has a bit of trouble fitting in. His age up while weird at least gave him cool powers... eventually. And also I think they fixed it? Mon-El taking him under his wing at the finale was neat too. Bring the actual him back
#2: Jonathan Lane Kent: I wasn't expecting to like him so much. He really develops as a character. and eventually could even be called a hero. Plus the only reason he was even evil in the first place was because he was raised young by Harvest so him eventually actually being a hero makes sense. Weird character though
#1: Gregor Nagy: I actually really like his one and done story. bring him back.
Also:
Tumblr media
this is why he's peak. It's ultimately about not feeling like you fit in the world. bonus points for having a completely different power set that's also cool
#0: Jimmy Olsen. obviously. I will have to say Superman was a jerk due to a misunderstanding but Jimmy being the GOAT that he is doesn't mind not being Superman's son. And despite not having a happy ending as a superman son, he does gain/regain 2 other dads

One day you're arrested for trying to escape from prison. When you ask what they mean, apparently you were sentenced to 12 consecutive life sentences in your past life.
(A response to a writing prompt)
“You.” The alien guard pointed their single thin finger at me, directing me out of the spaceport’s line. I threw up my hands in that typical annoyed fashion that most customers gave after being inconvenienced, making a small song and dance out of the situation. Inside, I was shitting myself. Why was I being singled out? Did I accidentally pack a teleporter in my suitcase or leave a Blackhole ray rolling about in it? Even if those two things didn’t exist, my anxious mind was still convinced they could have somehow materialized just to get me into trouble.
“Yes?” I asked, standing by his side. Ew, The Vapia’s were always hard to look at. Tall, thin alienoids with fat palms that held only a single finger that they waved around like a magic wand. Their silver skin grainy, looking like sandpaper. I would usually have felt rude for thinking something like that, but I saw his finger retract back into his palm, clearly as repulsed by me as I was by him. Guess that’s what happens when you’re dealing with a new alien race. Humans and Vapia’s had only met fifty or so years ago, so neither party had gotten used to this whole interaction thing.
“You’re leaving your designated prison. Do you have an exemption pass?” He impatiently tapped his foot on the floor, as if I was the one ruining his day. What prison? Last I checked, Earth wasn’t classified as a prison, only as uninhabitable. Which wasn’t a prison, technically.
“I’m a human. This is my home.” I said sharply, before feeling my tone might have been a little too much. “It’s ok, I forgive you for the misunderstanding.” I tried to be as friendly as possible, offering my passport to the man, who only leaned into the microphone by his neck. “We have a code 204. Going to need a superior officer. Someone that has notes on Subject 20S2’s file would be appreciated.” After that quick conversation, he gave me a nod. “Wait, a little longer.”
“Seriously? My flights in like four hours! I need to get in there and grab lunch.” Sure, four hours wasn’t really rush time, but I hoped the alien might have just felt awkward about my urgency and let me through. People sometimes didn’t think too deeply about things when a person looked stress.
“Plenty of time.” He murmured. So, we stood there, not even engaging in small talk. As aliens and humans passed, they gave me dirty looks. Like I was some space pirate who had been caught mid raid, rather than a poor soul that got caught up in some accidental incident.
The superior officer sauntered over before studying me. After a quick stare, she pulled out a small scanner. “I’m officer Atioa, Open your mouth.” She gave the order and waved her finger. I had forgotten all about their telekinetic abilities, my mouth being forced open as she pressed the scanner against my tongue, waiting until she heard a chiming beep! Pulling the device away, she discussed the results with her other officer in their own language.
“So, can I go?” I asked, rubbing my jaw, feeling a little sore after that. I wonder if I can sue them for that? Might at least get a free lunch voucher or something from the spaceport for the harassment.
“No, prisoner 20S2, you cannot leave. You were sentenced to twelve life sentences, don’t you remember?” She stated, as if that was something I should remember.
“No? What do you mean, twelve? How can I serve twelve? You only live once…..”
“Not with our race. It seems you tried to cheat the system by reincarnating into a human body. Did you think you would be able to avoid our detection by hiding amongst the humans? In a way, it was clever. We kept you imprisoned on our planet for eight life cycles. So, you moved to Earth, assuming we wouldn’t track you. We did, however, track you, and we altered your prison sentence to be undertaken on Earth. You really don’t remember this?”
“That is a really fascinating story, but I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Perhaps the change into a human body removed his memories? He seems far more dense than Blood Hand.” The other guard muttered.
“Blood Hand? That sounds cool. Maybe I am Blood Hand? I have that bad boy attitude. You know a Trixqlian said I was the baddest human she had met. Weird thing to say at a shooting range, but I think she was totally into me.” I puffed my chest out, remembering that day fondly. It had been going so poorly, too. I hadn’t made a shot all day, and she flirts with me. Guess I made one shot after all.
“Blood Hand murdered over two hundred people.” Atioa grimly stated, glaring down at me.
“Ah, then I’m not him. I’m a bad shot, can’t hit anything. I can’t even find my gun half the time. It’s a hunting gun too. Not a killing people gun, although I suppose you could kill people with it. BUT I DON’T.” I was sweating, feeling the two aliens peering down at me before muttering again amongst themselves.
After their discussion, they turned to me. “We don’t know what to make of you. You don’t look like a threat and we don’t believe this is an act. Blood Hand would never allow himself to look this stupid. If it’s true you lost all your memories, then perhaps we will need to review your sentence. As it stands, you cannot travel until that process is finalized.” Even if Atioa’s words weren’t ideal. It was better than being dragged away to some secret alien interrogation facility.
“Sure. When should I expect an update?”
“Fifty years at the earliest.” The other guard said, clearly not understanding human lifespans.
“I’ll be nearly dead by then. Can’t we speed this up?” I asked, hoping to clear up this misunderstanding.
“If we find something substantial in our investigation, we will inform you earlier. Until then, remain on your prison planet.” Atioa left, and the other guard returned to his duty, leaving me standing awkwardly in the spaceport. I doubt I was going to even get a refund for this, since being an alien criminal in a past life wasn’t on the insurance policy. Still, it was better than any alternatives. At least I still had two weeks off work, even if it was now going to be spent lounging around the house, watching alien dramas on tv.
