hello this is Anon again. could you please direct me to your favorite Ace Attorney fics? I’ve read pretty much all the popular ones so I’m looking for some more niche ones :) thank you!!

Oh Anon… You sweet, sweet summer child. You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into.

I was already planning on doing an Ace Attorney fic rec list because I wanted to share some of my favorite ones (A lot of the ones I read aren’t on many of the regular fic rec lists, so I wanted to share some ones that I feel like are really good and maybe don’t get enough recognition) So I am very glad you asked Anon, gives me reason to actually continue on my fic rec list! I love sharing my favorite fics!

Most of them are Narumitsu, couple are Krisnix, and some are both. Also a couple stragglers out there without a ship as well. There will also be some smut ones (Don’t judge please lmao) (Also, just saying. There’s no good Krisnix in this fic list, all of it is seen as toxic, I ship them as Toxic Tragic Yuri and they’re not good as a real relationship. Just a disclaimer)

Some will have big blurbs about them from me explaining their plot a little and what I like about them. For others, I’ll just post them because I don’t really feel like talking about them in detail. But I promise they’re all good!

I’m not going to link them this time, cause I dunno how to do that without making a huge mess cause there’s so many and I don’t want my post to be wonky. And I’m also not going to categorize them because I’m eepy and didn’t get enough sleep last night, so you can figure it out yourself Anon lmao.

(But if you can’t find any, please tell me I’ll help)

So, without further ado… Here are my fic recs!

Fics:

Perfect by Sideblog: My absolute, all time favorite AA fic! Ever! Literally ever! I don't really wanna talk about the plot because that basically spoils the whole thing and I don't wanna do that to you, you just gotta read it! It is beautifully written and has an amazing concept that I would never think of in a million years! Seriously, so criminally underrated to the point of I have no idea how it doesn’t have like 15,000 hits on A3O. Even though I didn't explain much of the plot, just know that it is incredible and absolutely worth a read. I come back to it sometimes to read it because IT IS THAT GOOD. When I first saw this fic I didn’t really know what to expect because there weren’t any warnings or practically anything. Very mysterious fic. So glad I read it, though. When you get done reading this Anon, you gotta tell me what you think.

El Capo A Fine by tellezara: There’s something incredible about specialized Au fics in which you can tell that despite whatever the Au fic is about, the writer has an absolute love for the subject. This one is about musical instruments and Ace Attorney characters being part of an orchestra, and you can tell that this person has done orchestra before (Or at least thoroughly researched it and has a love for it) because they put in so many facts and interesting tidbits about instruments and the orchestra world that I never knew about and I loved learning about all of it. Fics like these are very special in my opinion because those people write it out of pure love for whatever the subject is and whatever the fandom is. Anyway, fic good. (Makes me wanna write an Ace Attorney choir fic, that’s my speciality)

The Miraculous Disappearance of Phoenix Wright by JJsADragon: Was on a road trip when I first read this and literally could NOT. STOP. READING. HAD ME GRIPPED. EDGE OF CARSEAT. The whole plot is basically a parody of "It's A Wonderful Life" where Phoenix ends up in a universe where he was never born. Which, as you can guess, causes a myriad of problems for the legal world and world in general. I had no idea where the plot was going, didn't know how it was going to end, and WAS TERRIFIED. But. I kept reading anyway. IT IS THAT GOOD.

Miles Edgeworth: The Ace Attorney by Charybdia: I SPENT AGES. AGES. Looking for a good, finished Ace Attorney roleswap fic. And when I found this one I STRUCK GOLD. SWEAR IT. Amazing, love this one. Still come back to it. IT’S GOT OBNOXIOUS THEATRE KID PHOENIX WRIGHT, HOW CAN I NOT LOVE IT? It also is accompanied by art Also, also, We get good friend Larry Butz. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?

Carpe Diem (make your lives extraordinary by Elysya): A high school Au featuring theater kid Phoenix, debate kid Miles and third wheel Larry. I loved this one. It’s also just super interesting. The developing relationship between Phoenix and Miles is one that I really like as they’re both messy teenagers and really gotta work out their flaws if they wanna be together.

Begone Dull Care by VivaRockSteady: A good Au fic surrounding patient Miles and nurse Phoenix. Goes into good detail about recovering from suicide and depression, and recovering from other mental health issues. Also check out some of the other fics by this writer. One is an Au of the Truman Show and the other is a Roman/Greek Au that I found incredibly interesting.

if you leave the light on by AngstinSpace: A very good fic. I was reading this one in my study hall and my teacher was playing calming piano music that was kinda sad/melancholic and I started tearing up in class because I was feeling all the emotions. Girl this is good, go read it.

I used to think people were good but now I just think they’re people by thebirdsandtheboxes: SEVERELY UNDERRATED. Super good and goes very in-depth into Phoenix’s disbarment period and how he and his friends and family react. Also has some good Asexual!Miles moments.

This man is not your boyfriend by its_ok_inside: AN AMAZING FIC CENTERING AROUND PHOENIX HAVING AMNESIA AND MILES HELPING HIM DEAL WITH IT. Hilarious. Super funny. I love it. Also is accompanied by some artwork. FUCK YEAH THIS FIC. A classic.

Surviving You by pantswarrior: I’m pretty sure this is an older fic that got moved, and it kinda shows that in its writing (Yk those fics that you can tell were written in the 2000s/early 2010s based on their vocabulary and thoughts on gay relationships? Kinda like that) but it’s good. Very good.

A False Start by theacegrace: A phenomenal fic centered around Bratworth!Miles meeting Feenie!Phoenix and Miles praying that Phoenix doesn’t get accused of murder when he sees Phoenix with Dahlia. Loved this one so much and came back to it a couple times.

Chicago Noel by canonlacrush: A classic. There used to be an Au a while back that everyone was obsessed with and it was a bakery/mafia Au. I wish there were more fics that catered to that Au but they’re hard to find. Anyway, this one is great.

Maybe In Time You’ll Want To Be Mine by YourAverageBystander: A time loop fic that I absolutely adore. Y’all really gotta key in on these Ace Attorney time loop/time travel fics, there’s a couple in here. THEY ARE A TREASURE.

Turnabout Sole by CollaboralDamage: An awesome bodyswap fic. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND BODY SWAP FIC IN THIS FANDOM?! And this one is good. Very good. Liked it a lot.

Shared Work Space by nerdyskeleton: I think the fic’s summary works best here “It was the best of times, it was the worst of time when Miles Edgeworth discovers he likes to be called Daddy”.

Shear Luck by TopazEstrella: One that I didn’t really know what to think of when I first kept seeing it on my search for Narumitsu fics, but I’m very glad I read it. It’s different, but I like it. Has some Krisnix in it.

The Illusion Of Control by Ekat: Amazing. Loved it. Takes place in an alternate universe where Miles died and Gregory didn’t. Has a lot of found family dynamics featuring Mr. Edgeworth, Phoenix and Ray.

Tight Lesh by Ensiy: I come back to this one often. One of the only fics that has good Kristoph and Miles interaction. They’re both catty bitches to each other. Has some Krisnix in it.

Out of Order by canolacrush: A super cute fic where Miles gets a haircut and Phoenix gets a crush. I re-read it a lot because it’s super cute and really fluffy.

With The Phases Of The Moon by Puddor: One I come back to often for a couple of moments. Really love it. One of the good Werewolf!Phoenix and Vampire!Miles fics.

You Ever Been In Love? by hechima: Loved this one a lot. We love the Wright gang trying to matchmake. A classic in terms of AA fics and for good reason.

Observe and Record by MAVEfm: An introspective Miles fic detailing him and his personal journal. I really like this one. Has some Krisnix in it.

Pressing Pursuit ~ Cornered by viviaciousbarkbeast: Love this one. I think this was one of the first AA fics I’ve read. Has some Krisnix in it.

That Man by Sunshine_And_Starlight: A really good fic. It has one of my favorite tropes and I come back to it for certain moments that I really like and wanna read again.

A Badge Of Honor by sunsmasher: Really loved this one. I also come back to re-read it cause it’s just so funny and awkward and hilarious.

Awkward Business by hechima: I’m a sucker for this trope! You’ll see what I mean when you read it. It’s all gold! I still come back to this one.

wait (they don’t love you like I love you) by Samioli: Super good fic detailing Miles finding out about all Phoenix’s past relationships.

parallelogram by zombiekittiez: Such a slay fic, has a strange premise at first BUT we get Shakespeare references so that’s a big plus.

All There Is by sunsmasher: Loved it. A really good look into Krisnix as a relationship and dealing with sexual trauma.

London, 2021 by syailendra: Has a lot of good moments. I come back to this one a lot. Has some Krisnix in it.

Sketched Memories by gen: LOVED THIS ONE. OBSESSED. You just gotta read it. It’s a recent one but VERY GOOD.

Archaeology by sunsmasher: Everyone eats pizza, and truamadumps. Just a typical day at the Wright Anything Agency.

Dancer In The Dark by klaviersimp: Ahhh, I love this fic a lot. It holds a special place in my heart. Little suggestive but I like it.

dig my nails into the wound by gavinnersworldtour: A very good Krisnix fic. Delicious. I love this one.

Temptation by crayoncompanion: An interesting one that I can’t help but really love.

Hot, Sticky, Sweet by mutxnts: A really good fic. I CRAVE a continuation but it’s a one-shot.

Sin. Eater by potatomin: A very good Demon!Miles and Angel!Phoenix fic. Makes you want more.

romance is not dead (if you keep it just yours) by Samioli: This one was just sweet. I liked it a lot.

just desserts by riskphee: YES. YES. Love this one. I still come back to read it.

Thrown Through A Loop by savitaraandsigh: Another time loop fic that I absolutely adore.

And that’s most of them! There’s definately more, but those are the ones that really made an impression on me and that I think about a lot (And also the ones I could find easily without having to check every one of my bookmarks) You can find more that way if you want though! By looking through my bookmarks on A3O that is. That’s what I do sometimes with other A3O members and it’s worked out well (Look for the Buddy Daddies fics in my bookmarks, that’s where most of them start but definitely check my bookmarks, there’s a couple good ones I can’t find at the moment that I know are in there). But I also recommend doing your own research too, it doesn’t seem like fun but when you end up finding one of the hidden gem fics it’s totally worth it.

Here’s some advice, buddy, try to start at the beginning, like go all the way down to the last folder on A3O, but maybe first search for an AA tag that you know will have a smaller fic pool and go from there. And when you find an author you like, try and check out if they have some other AA fics. Most of the writers of the fics I have recommended have more Ace Attorney fics in their arsenal that I’ve read and enjoyed and just didn’t wanna put on here, so check them out!

Btw Anon, if you want the more… Darker fics that I like (There aren’t many, but there’s a couple) DM me because I don’t wanna give those out publicly since it just makes me sorta uncomfy and I don’t want others to be uncomfy. This also goes for smuttier fics that I don’t feel like sharing at the moment.

Sorry if this was a lot Anon, I just love fanfiction, it’s definately one of the more interesting art forms out there, and think a lot of the ones I read deserve to be shared!

Ayoooooo, the Miraculous salt fandom really is a different breed of toxic and hateful. They rly ought to tone it down bc Lila Rossi isn’t coming back. I don’t like Lila either but they just make so much hate content and not just slipping past the filters that it’s baffling.

Everytime I read or look for crossover content, this is exactly how I feel bc I don’t want to see any miraculous characters or even a mere mention in them. I feel like going into a trap filled maze these days.

The Miraculous Plague Fandom is filled with a lot people who have nothing else better to do but be oxymorons. Ignoring or taking a break from Lila is not their strong suit. Lila took two breaks why can't this fandom try that instead of consuming their curse of hatred. You even got that Mariah Chloe voice over being asking what with people hate towards Lila. Then you see a gang of losers (even constructing their comments in a mask to shut down her or anyone's interest in Lila) being static same old scrubs but it figures.

It's amusing to me. There's video saying she's an aimless antagonist with the usual crap that reels in Lila haters usually to wank to or increase their extreme seeethery. But what makes me laugh is observing how aimless this stupid moronculous fandom ironically is. The folly of the aimless miraculous maleficent plaguedom.

They are just a bunch of Ripslingers to Dusty Crophopper (if you're familiar with that movie or the game). Or I can say they want to be brave but will disperse when someone says some messed crap against her without realizing that would affect many things. From hating the writers crap and how things are going to wanting the worst done upon Lila by the writers.

Like HUH. They dislike to loathe the ml&cn writers or characters and spam all this here's what I'll do or rewrites AUs whatever but they would want who they hate to make things worse in a leave fandom inducing way, after this Recreation crap. Loathe writers but wants the show to be better or reboot or be within their standards but wants to stuff in their minds some loathsome crap against Lila. REAL INTELLIGENT, EH?

For a plague filled fandom that thinks they truly know what's up. Well... They ironically found a way to be more dumb or pathetic than characters in the show ever can be. Makes since though because they haven't realized Lila's existence is the true attack upon this miracle plague fandom but they are distracted and fooled themselves so badly that they might not ever see or let go.

Sucks though cause I know around several more characters from other series that get treated just as bad or even worse for bigger dumb reasons (Prosecutor Godot/Diego Armando, Shadow in his own game or the game itself, Princess Elise, Wallflower Blush, Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan, Sasuke Uchiha, his parents, and his clan). Fandoms tend to ignore context and latch onto to manure and bandwagon the propaganda against this character train. Even if you show it was never like that, it's almost always too late. Many are just completely incapable of understanding. They pick what they wish is valid. If it doesn't meet their interest... Well Compromise Doesn't Exist. Conform and boot lick or Resist or Die trying (I think I'm gonna start calling the ladyplague fandom, Leaf Villagers or shinobi drones).

That fiance death thanks to this accursed fandom wasn't even enough to gets these buffoons to chill or rethink or lay in grass. Soon as she faded into memory, the true nature of the ladyplaguedom showed their faces. Instability of handling Lila even made some completely turn their back because they didn't get what they wanted despite they could be better and let go but nope as you know the splurge of salt fics through the years (couple to few years on here, like almost every week searching Lila Rossi and there's like a cluster of salt prompts or salt fic links or memes to mock her. It was annoying.)

Other sites the hatred is strong too (twitter reddit but deviantart specifically where Sunset Shimmer makes her bleed or Kagami and Marinette I think punch her stomach and she's damaged. Reactions to Lila by other characters from other shows or being destroyed or harmed by them. Other forms of vilification or dehumanization). YouTube was slightly less until defenders or neutrals vanished or went inactive (1-5 channels).

It's technically worse here.

Though surfing and tragically find people going out their way to have or prompt rape fics of Lila . Guess what? It's the main heroes Ladybug and Cat Noir doing it. And then November of 2023 some scrum prompted scum to make a story of Lila being violated by Adrien because Lila got Marinette expelled. Then later on the recents feed another days later on lila rossi search. A disgusting ask with the user then replied with the after affects. Crap like this related crap on A03 too (but figures heck some person had Adrien violate Marinette too. What is with people making this ruined destroyed one that? Like why?)

Revelation really solidified why this maggot infested fandom deserves to be derided but let them be distracted by Confrontation and think they achieved something. Lila starts doing cosplay and it destroyed this fandom but really it was just a Cerise on top the Lila cake of Revelation. She can do the same dang thing without being Cerise but stupid viewers want to go too deep into it. So deep that they discovered a new reason to want to hate clown or fear her. So deep that they go out their way thirsting her to be an adult and so deep they can't see why that should not be quenched for.

Stupid humans so bored or absolutely pathetic that they actually found the ultimate way to spit on that woman fan of Lila.

Kind of fascinating.

Hating so much without thinking beyond.

TRUE FLOPS

Idk. Perhaps you go on a blocking everyone spree or tag. Tumblr tagging is weird. it doesn't always like specifically show up with results to what was searched.

Like if you search umm "fugly fandom", results may show that or "fandom" or "beautiful fandom" or some ice cube image and one of the tags say "fugly ice" which cross tags it presence. I guess search tags here kind of works like an "and or" statement.

All I can say is do what you can to avoid or ignore ML it on social media.

Can you tell me what’s been happening in ML since Miracle Queen?

I jumped ship back then because of Fandom Drama and Toxicity, and I can’t get ahold of the show itself because my internet is shit right now. I want to rejoin the fandom and catch up, but it isn’t easy to figure out what’s going on. Especially since my only available avenue for Fandom News is the… Uh… (be nice be nice be nice) Mess that is Tumblr.

Can you help me out?

Well we are well into Season 5 now. But I will try and summarize everything that happened that was important.

TIME FOR A GALE RECAP!

Season 4

-Luka and Marinette broke up in the first episode, Kagami and Adrien in the second.

-Jagged stone is Juleka and Luka's dad.

-Alya finds out that Marinette is ladybug because Marinette tells her

-Hawkmoth calls himself shadow moth

-The Peacock miraculous is fixed

-Ladybug gets a new form when she uses lucky charm.

-Ladybug can create akuma repealing charms

-Gabriel bottomed for a clown

-Turns out Fu wasnt the worst guardian because Su Han exists

-Chloe has a half-sister named Zoe who is basically her but not evil.

-Zoe becomes the new bee

-Chloé is back to season 1 self but now even more cartoonishly evil

-Felix returns and figures out Gabriel is shadowmoth immediately.

-All of the class gets their miraculous hero time at one point. (Four of them get it in one episode near the end of the season.)

-Alya gets the fox permanently, then has to pretend she isnt rena rouge anymore because plot.

-Alya gets to use the ladybug miraculous for a day

-Ladybug and chat noir are said to be couple of the year but ladybug hated the idea so much she yeets chat noir into a garbage can

-Kagami reads manga and is best girl this season

-Nino reveals to Adrien he is carapace and Alya is Rena Rouge because he thought Chat noir was a slut

-Sabine got akumatized due to racism

-Tikki is actually a hunger gremlin but gets over it

-Luka finds out Marinette is ladybug and Adrien is Chat noir but lies about knowing

-The 100th episode was a what if episode where Gabriel wins but not really. It was terrible and not worth viewing

-Adrien quits being chat noir due to all of the crap and feeling not valued only to come back as Chat Walker and Ladybug falls for him. He ends up returning as chat noir even though nothing really changed.

-Then there is an episode where Gabriel makes all of Paris act risky thanks to an akuma.

-Adrien tells Marinette he doesnt want to be a model

-Marinette trying to confess to him but plot interferes

-Felix appears and swaps places with Adrien and finds emilie in the basement

-Felix gets the dog miraculous and manages to snatch all of the miraculous except Ladybug and Chat noir's

-He trades them for the peacock which Gabriel agrees too

-Ladybug breaks down and almost gives up but chat noir is there to bring her back up

Season 5

-Bunnyx returns and they help her stop Monarch (cause thats his new name) from time travel.

-Nathalie realizes she has terrible taste in men and yells at Gabriel for his obsession with teenagers

-Adrien gets to stop being a model, but gets turned into a Siri

-Lila is doing evil s*** this season

-Ladynoir had a family in a dream

-Gabriel pretends to be a parent

-Nino makes a secret group to fight Monarch... ends up recruiting Lila and Gabriel

-Kagami and Luka are sick of bulls*** and try and pair up Marinette and Adrien

-Adrien realizes he's been in love with Marinette since the statue scene

-Marinette realizes she is in love with Chat noir

-There is a kwami swap episode that was ACTUALLY good

-Nathalie was actually Lara Craft in a past life

-The Kwamitoga is actually useful

-Joan of arc had an enemies to lovers slow burn with her Chat noir

-Marinette and Chat noir end up going on a date and Andre is NOT having it

-Marichat Kiss TWICE

-And the next episodes in order is a two parter where Zoe apparently gets the cat miraculous and Alya gets the ladybug miraculous again

What would you think if an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again. Meanwhile, in New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette.

Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe” and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her.

I think I've seen this scenario sent to multiple creators of the ML fandom or people who clearly said they didn't care or like Chloé. What are you up to, anon? What do you really want from me? An honest opinion? Approbation?

Seems like a quite complicated scenario whose main purpose is to absolutely redeem Chloé after the events of season 5 and make us feel sorry for her.

Look, if you want to write a fanfic based on this, go ahead. You don't need my approval! I'm sure you'd make some Chloé stans very happy with it, and if you have fun writing it, all the better, it's the purpose of writing fanfics! Because honestly, I won't.

More rant undercut. Some very hot takes, but I don't care anymore at this point.

I like some fanon redeemed Chloé very much - heck, in my own AU she does change for the better and have a quite solid arc and background - but canon Chloé isn't changing and you need to accept it. From some spoilers I've fallen upon, she clearly has no regrets and will be selfish to the end. I mean, the last thing she does is calling Marinette to try and hurt her by telling her that Adrien will leave for London, hoping to make her suffer/cry one last time before she leaves Paris. And that is a huge bitch move, which proves once more that she has nothing heroic in her and should stay away from Marinette and the whole cast.

Do I think André is getting away with his actions too easily? Yes, definitely. And Audrey is a real bad mother, but putting all the blame on them for Chloé's actions and attitude and calling it "trauma" is pushing it. Chloé chooses to be a bitch, she chooses to help villains and terrorist, she knows people will get hurt with her actions but she doesn't care and even enjoy it. As long as she gets what she wants and feels superior to everyone, it's fine to her.

And when it comes to her father distancing himself for her, well good for him. Way too late in terms of narration, but still. Chloé is toxic to him. She keeps treating him like a mean to her ends and an ATM, and when he tries to reason her or grow some spine, she attacks on his insecurities and threatens to leave. I think most people overlook that if Audrey leaving for New York affected Chloé, it also affected her father. We see how horrified and desperate he gets in "Malediktator" when she's ready to leave on a whim, because he told her that he couldn't reasonnably ban a 14 years old and the whole class from Paris! Chloé's age shouldn't be a shield to call her out on her BS, she's toxic as a friend and as a daughter, because FREAKING YES, CHILDREN CAN BE TOXIC OR EVEN ABUSIVE TO THEIR PARENTS. And it's not always said parents' fault!! Sure, André is responsible for Chloé being spoiled rotten, and showing her a bad example, but it doesn't erase that his own daughter is treating him like shit, squeezing him for the 3 classics money - fame - power and will throw him away like trash when she has no more use of him. Not gonna expand on André's redemption arc here or it would get too long because, oh boy, do I have things/flaws to point out about it too...

Post seasons 3 to 5 Chloé might be able to change, but she should do it on her own and away from her victims. It's not Marinette or anyone's job to do it for her.

I think the biggest problem with fandoms is that people fall victim to toxic positivity/negativity.

People join fandoms to talk to people who like this media, to tell people why they like about it, how they reacted to certain things, make fan theories, etc. It’s why I join fandoms anyway. And people are allowed to have different opinions than me about said media, because it’s just that. An opinion. But the problem arises when people think that their opinion is the right one, and act like anyone who doesn’t share said opinion is wrong. While this is most prevalent in negativity, it’s also seen in positivity. I constantly see people praising a series to no end, claiming that it’s perfect and taking offence whenever someone points out it’s flaws. Meanwhile others will talk non-stop about its flaws, never recognizing it’s positive aspects. This can cause people to think that their opinion is wrong, and will gravitate toward this way of thinking and ultimately ruin the enjoyment of others. Take Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This show is amazing, but it got so much hate when it first came out because it was different, and everyone was jumping on the gate train. This caused the show to get cancelled, with people now realizing how good it is. As for positivity, Teen Titans. It’s an okay show, but is not perfect. But tell that to anyone who preaches it’s perfection, and you’ll be burned at the stake.

Keep in mind that I’m all for criticism, but it needs to be done carefully. If something is flawed, those flaws should be explored and talked about, not shamed and demonized. People will confuse criticism with hate, claiming that a show is garbage because it’s not perfect. Believe me, I’m a Miraculous Ladybug fan, I know a thing or two about toxic negativity. Criticism is healthy, but it becomes toxic when you use it to justify hate.

Update and Upcoming Projects~

Hello, hello~! It’s been so long since I last made an update, haven’t I? O: Anyways, I just wanna say that it’s now been 1 month since I've been living in Texas and so far, there have been a few ups and downs. First off, I’m living off the countryside, so you can guess what creatures I’d been running into lately. XP Secondly, I still wanna say that I am very sorry if I've been acting slow or been inactive lately. Lots of work to do in and around the house.

As for artwork and other projects, I just wanna say that as always, I am taking my time doing them as much as possible. Thankfully since my BF now has a new job working Mondays-Fridays, I’ll have all the free time to take care of myself. :) Speaking of taking care of myself, I had to back away from a few areas that were making me out to be a toxic and shitty person. ^^; One of them unfortunately being the Miraculous Ladybug fandom. More on that later.

All in all, while yes I may still be slow, I will be also working on a few projects here and there. My goal this spring/summer is to actually get back on track and be more active on every social media I have. Even if it’s something pretentious like Twitter, but that’s where I share my art, so what’s the damage there besides politics? =P I’d often been meaning to focus more on original content instead of fanmade stuff since I wanna learn to expand myself a little out there with my own creativity and see what I can bring to the table.

And now onto Miraculous Ladybug…

I figured that now is the time I go on an indefinite hiatus from it. I’m really sorry to anyone who has followed or watched me only for Miraculous-related content, but as of now, I don’t know how much longer I can take from it. The fandom has caused more harm than good with rabid Love Square shippers, character bashing, and not to mention,

an actual fucking su**de!

Yeah as you can say, it really did fuck a lot of people, including me. Once I get down to finishing S4, that’s when I will call it quits for now.

“But wait, what about your @pro-bee-sisters blogs and your AUs and fics?”

Those will not be canceled thankfully, but they will either be also on hiatus or still be a WIP. It honestly depends how my schedule and my day goes. In fact, I still plan on doing fanwork for the show since I have a lot of ideas for it, but for now, I’m gonna have to take a break from the show until the fandom either A; learns to chill the fuck down (Highly doubtful, but still) or B; begins to die down slowly as possible

This is probably a stupid question, but what is a miraculous salter?

I only really interact with the fandom a little. Mainly fics, like three tik tok mlb skit creators, and this and one other blog. So I'm really confused by an mlb salter? Is it just a person who constantly bad mouths the show and is never satisfied by anything?

Miraculous Salter is a term for certain people in the fandom who really do go the extra mile with certain things! In a bad way, in a very bad way..

Character Salting and Bashing are terms in the fic world to describe the action of taking a prexisting character and taking a metaphorical shit on their character. They basically take the negative traits, crank it up to eleven normally, and have their way with that in a story.

Of course this isn't always a bad thing! There's many people who write saltfics(where characters are salted) and are awar e they are doing that and know the difference between their characterization that they are fully aware they're making and canon where they're explicitly different. s have verbally attacked many other blogs and spitting very angry words with many other writers for differing opinions and over all have a nasty attitude about most things in miraculous that don't center around their favorite character.

There was a big boom in Miraculous Salters Around After Chameleon, which was where Lila turned the class against Marinette. The status quo was returned of course, but many fans were absolutely infuriated with how the characters acted while manipulated, many taking it personally.

And so stories about Marinette leaving the class forever for being horrible people happened, or Marinette doing something.. very drastic for the harsh 'bullying', etc etc the list goes on but

very common salt 'tropes' or characterizations common in the worst of it is Alya being an abusive and toxic friend who only cares about herself and her work and is willing to destroy Marinette's life for something more interesting, characters like Kim and Alix become dumb attack dogs, and Chat Noir/Adrien is characterized as a sexual predator- misogynistic- and more-

And because salters make these characters 'villains' they often give them 'karmic justice' as in, they just rip each character apart via Alya losing her entire job, family, and sometimes life- Adrien gets fired from being Chat and exposed to the entire world as a 'terrible person' and all of the class's dreams are crushed- and its supposed to be seen as a Good thing by the salter.

There's often tropes salters use that would seem Good but in actuality really aren't- like Chloe Redemption- where yes- yay redemption- but they use Chloe to step on other characters and she's characterized with very familiar traits.... fan of ladybug.. die hard friend to Marinette.. understands her boundaries, confident, and is fluid with many miraculouses....

sounds like Alya doesn't it? It's cause they give Chloe basically ALYA's personality. This is where it gets really complicated but there's basically this underlying racism involved with Alya salt which I wont get into but god- replacing the poc character with a white character and claiming the poc is evil after giving the white character the poc character's personality is uh- real bad-

ESPECIALLY WHEN PEOPLE CLAIM THEIR SALT IS TRUE. Like they'll point at this demonic version of Alya and say "this is true and present in canon" and its- ridiculous utterly ridiculous..

Characters are allowed to have character flaws! That's a part of characters! But many salters have this idea that flaws and mistakes are eternal, and make every single bit of someone and thus must be punished for the rest of their lives like- WHAT 14-16 YEAR OLD ISN'T ENTIRELY STUPID SOMETIMES-

But yeah, that's a deep dive uh-

TLDR:

Miraculous Salting is not entirely bad as long as you keep it at a very moderate level and are physically able to tell what's fanon vs canon. It's a type of trope where you take a character and blow them out to a negative proportion- and.. yeah.

Miraculous Analysis: Poor Little Rich Kids

Greetings Miraculous fandom,

Season four has come and gone. We have confirmation of season five coming out this summer. I decided to start a small series analyzing the show and all the little bits and pieces that make it so unique.

In today’s breakdown, we will discuss the trope of the “rich kids that have problems” and apply them to the children of miraculous who fall under this umbrella. We’ll go over the personalities, motivations, characterization, and how I feel they are included in the show and their overall impact.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

Adrien Agreste:

Here’s the secondary protagonist of the show and one whom everyone seems to worship the ground he walks upon. Adrien has shown himself to be a very compassionate boy with values and motives around pleasing people, making them feel good, and making allies and friends in order to not feel lonely. He follows every order his father or other parental like figures in his life tells him. When in his superhero alter-ego, he shows off his true feelings and isn’t afraid to flaunt his skills, flirt with his partner, and feel inferior whenever she includes other heroes. With the power of destruction, he is easily one of the most powerful miraculous users in the show.

So why does he feel so one-dimensional?

True, as a fandom, we speak so highly of Adrien and never want to place any blame on him. If Ladybug rejects him, we want to pet him and make him feel better. If he feels replaceable, then we point out how Ladybug made him feel this way. Any ill actions that Adrien has committed get swept under the rug in favor of blaming our true main character. Have we all been blinded by this so called “sunshine child” that we forget that we are supposed to see the faults in both of our mains? Now that we learn that Adrien is a sentibeing, we are more inclined to place our sympathy upon him since he was created to be perfect.

Therein lies the problem; when you give so much to a character who never has to suffer, why should I, as the viewer, feel bad for him? Things are going to work out in the end, he’ll get the girl, he’ll save the day, and maybe the show will revive his mother or whatever. In another show, people would call Adrien a brat for some of the ways he’s acted around Ladybug/Marinette. Instead of fantasizing about what he could be, we need to take off those rose tinted glasses and face his flaws.

Chloe Bourgeois:

Well...let me get this out of the way first; I didn’t want a Chloe redemption arc. I felt like every show needs a mean girl character type to bring balance with our main female lead. Chloe came from a household that is pro “spare the rod, spoil the child” method of parenting. It’s the constant coddling, constant praise, and constant attention seeking behavior that we’ve come to know with those kinds of characters. So when season two was building up for her to be a “good” girl, I merely rolled my eyes. I know Chloes in the real world and when you give them exactly what they want, they tend to either be better or get worse. A lot of people had issues when she became laughably evil in season four and then teamed up with Lila.

Well what did you expect from a girl who’s never been told no for her own life?

I’m surprised to find how many people defend her toxic behavior and abhorrent relationship with others. Did they want Chloe to be a hero because it would “fix her attitude” or did they just want her to a hero cause of this new trend of redeemable characters? I dislike Chloe and her elitist views make for good commentary on behavioral development. Had she received the proper discipline and attention as a child, would Chloe be a vastly different character? Her bad traits outweigh her good ones though, making it hard for someone to feel bad for her. Sure, she can be self-less...when she wants to. She can think about others...when it benefits her. She’ll work on a team...if she doesn’t have to do work. How can I like someone who has the capability to show me she can do good, but continues to relapse into her old habits?

Kagami Tsuguri:

Kagami is an example of sheltered parenting and placing high expectations on children. However, unlike with Adrien where it feels like the usual, the show surprises me by adding her motivation to develop friendships and meaningful relationships. At first, Kagami came off as a rude individual with blunt remarks and gave everyone the cold shoulder. Then she started becoming an Adrien love interest and started a friendship with Marinette. I believe the relationship she had with Marinette to be better than the one she attempted with Adrien. There was no chemistry between the two. Her good traits, however, outweigh her bad ones. We’ve seen her get jealous, be opposed to lying, and hesitate to bond due to social differences. Going back to her home life, we only know about her mother and their family reputation for being swordspeople. Her superhero side is shown to be quite headstrong, but loyal to a fault and trustworthy. Even with little to no knowledge about her, Kagami comes off as one of the more likable rich kids.

How is it that a female who comes from the same background as Adrien be a more fleshed out character in civilian form? Is it her heritage? Is it her true friendship with Marienette? The way she puts herself out there to help others and improve her skills? Her impact, while just a splash in a larger puddle, made huge waves despite the hate she seems to get from the fandom.

Felix Graham de Vanily:

Here we reach the climax of the anti-hero. Felix was introduced to be the twin cousin of Adrien and shown to be somewhat of a sneaky person. He impersonates Adrien, figures out the secret identity of Hawkmoth, tricks Ladybug into trusting him, and beats all the heroes at their own game. Sure he’s snide, conniving, and tricky, but there’s some good underneath the layers. He adores his mother, does care about Adrien, and is even shown sympathizing when his fellow sentibeings are being destroyed.

I’m actually quite neutral to his character. I haven’t seen what he could do when he really lets loose and his motives are still foggy. Do I get angry at him for causing the end of the world without knowing? Do I cry for him because he’s a character under stress and circumstances that he’s trying to control? Felix is vague, not much to him and kinda underwhelming until something pops up later. Knowing him, there will be a lot of changes in the next season should he return in style.

Please note that this is my critique on the characters and take it with a grain of salt. I love Miraculous and want to continue to look at some of the smaller details within the show.

I like being in an active fandom again. It's been a long while for that, the last one was Steven Universe and that kind of petered out for me at the end, since in my opinion they needed more time to tell out the final story.

...Something which I see happening again right now, tragically, with The Owl House.

But I'm getting off track. My main fandom, now, is Miraculous Ladybug. I've even started to write stories with the characters, they inspire me simply because there's so much untapped potential in them. I've also blown through probably over a million words in fanfiction that others have done for the series.

I didn't watch the series from the start. Fan works were my entrance to it, and my views on it have changed over time. Because I have the characters roaming around in my head as I develop thoughts which I hope to turn into words, I suppose I figured now would be a good time to let out my opinions on things.

I've seen how toxic the Love Square truly is, how it doesn't seem to be getting much better, in that just how wonderful Lukanette stories and art can be.

Because I want only good things for Marinette, and as others who have been labeled as "salters" prove more eloquently in their posts, she gets the short stick far, far too often in the series. The two main ships that I support for her (Lukanette and Marigami) are the ones that I believe would be beneficial for her.

I don't like Chloe, nor do I believe she can change at this point. She is a racist, a bully, and certainly does not deserve to be a hero again.

I hope that Sabrina can be saved, simply because I've been in her "trapped" position before. One of the first stories I wrote is her atonement and I have a soft spot for the bespectacled girl.

I greatly dislike Lila and believe she is pure evil.

I don't truly believe Alya is suited to be Marinette's best friend.

In all honesty, I think Marinette would be better suited towards the students who are more into arts than anyone else in the class. Tilting her towards them is a story idea I'm exploring.

Because of that I actually believe Juleka would be a great best friend for Marinette.

Luka is better suited to be Marinette's boyfriend.

In fact the Couffaine family in general, I think, would be great for Marinette.

I blame Fu for this, but giving Adrien any Miraculous was a bad move in hindsight because of his high profile, and that's not even getting into the stuff with his father.

Adrien is a lot closer to how his father acts than he realizes.

The end point with Hawkmoth will be a hollow victory just for the damage it's going to cause.

However I don't think that Hawkmoth is a "bad" villain as per se, like there's more that can be done with him and Nathalie and while he's evil, he's a complex evil.

Also while we're on the subject though, #FreeNooroo

So, that's a lot of my views on the series, and how I write or develop fic ideas for it. Because of that all, it makes me what could be known as a "salter", and if that tag does apply to me then so be it.

A lot of my plans for writing is so Marinette can end up supported, with less stress, and happy. Watching the series can be an exercise in frustration in that way, and knowing where things end up...if it means I'm on the other side of a dividing line, that's alright with me.

Cat’s Definitive Ranking of Every ML Episode as of 4/22/21

Are you guys ready for this? I did the thing. You’re all welcome. Don’t ever ask me for anything again. You can watch me get progressively more unhinged in real time.

Now, just to preface this, I did not give this too much thought. Most of these are just my gut feelings. I went through every episode and just made some snap judgments based off the lasting impressions I’ve been left with. These are my opinions. If you don’t like them, tough. And also I don’t care. Go spend 4 hours making your own damn ranking. And shut the hell up. Anyway, this is probably the longest post I’ve ever made, so I’m gonna put it all under a read more. Click on it if you have an hour to read it. Okay, here we go!

1. Origins II- Good starting point for our heroes. Good establishment of canon ships and character dynamics. Umbrella scene literally stole my wallet. Cannot emphasis enough that I am whipped for the umbrella scene. I wrote a whole ass AU just to say how whipped I am for the umbrella scene. In the Rain will play at my wedding. Jk. Weddings are for suckers. But dammit if I don’t want these kids to get married. 10/10

2. Origins I- Good introduction to lore. Good introduction to characters. Good establishment of status quoyo. Just good. 10/10

3. Simon Says- Listen, I am nothing if not a shipper at heart. This episode just sparks joy. And the whole series almost ended when Gabriel almost jumped off the roof. I was really rooting for this one. This was the episode where I saw Ladrien and went yes, ma’am, I’ll have one of those. 10/10

4. Evillustrator- Are you all surprised? Cat, the MC-skeptic ranked the pivotal MC episode so highly? Well, let me tell you all a thing, I started this fandom out a MC shipper because of this episode. Their first interaction is gold. I don’t deny that. I enjoy it. This is the MC dynamic I fell in love with. Yall toxic shippers ruined MC for me when you opened your mouths and spat in the face of Ladrien and baselessly declared MC the sin-ship. We all know it’s Ladrien. Stop kidding yourselves. Boy in leather catsuit? Please. Basic ass vanilla bitches. I’m getting off-topic. Solid episode 10/10. We love to see it.

5. Stormy Weather- Baby’s first Miraculous episode. It holds a special place in my heart. It’s a solid episode. Good establishment of what the show is. Fun villain. Good times. Fond memories. 10/10

6. Riposte- Listen, I know I’m an Adrinette stan, but hear me out: Ladrien. It’s just so good. And Kagami was compelling in this episode. It was just really solid. It’s my favorite s2 episode. If you ask me if I want to rewatch Riposte, the answer is always yes. 10/10. We stan.

7. Gorizilla- Okay, so this episode has some solid Adrinette in it, but the real reason it ranks so high is that fucking Ladrien trust fall. I stare at that scene for hours, you guys. HOURS. It is absolutely just *chefs kiss*. Sometimes when I need a pick-me-up, I just go watch gifs of that catch on loop. 10/10. Beautiful. Radiant. Carefree.

8. Gang of Secrets- I have been keeping most of my opinions to myself about s4 (mostly because I’ve backed way the hell out of this fandom), but GoS was pretty solid. Gotta say, it’s the first episode in a long time with this show that made me actually excited to see what happens next. Most other episodes I was like, okay, that was cute. The show is still meh overall. But GoS really got me like oh shit, is ML good again? 10/10 for making me feel things again.

9. Oblivio- Told you guys this one was probably rated higher than I thought. Oblivio is just really fun. There is good Adrinette. That “No wonder I fell in love with you” paired with the softest of Adrien smiles just sends me. And the kisses. The unquestionable trust. These two kids literally woke up together alone in an elevator with no memories and said welp, you’re my boyfriend/girlfriend obviously, I don’t make the rules. Honestly, how anyone could argue that these two dorks aren’t made for each other after that episode is beyond me. 9/10

10. Backwarder- Okay, I know I am weird and alone for this one, but I really liked this episode. It got a lot of shit for the constipation capsule thing at the end, but like who cares? We finally got some more backstory on Fu. He got a love-interest who is dope as hell. This episode is my favorite lucky charm use ever. Like that queen DID that. I like Backwarder, guys! Fuck off. 9/10.

11. Kwamibuster- We all know I am a Marinette-stan by this point, but our girl was SHINING this episode. This bitch said gimme all them and let me go whoop this bitch’s ass, and she DID. Hawkmoth could never. Multimouse is a gift, and Marinette is a boss ass queen. 9/10

12. Chat Blanc- Listen, this episode was very good. I enjoy the idea of my children being happy in another timeline somewhere very much. We got all 4 sides of the square in an episode. It’s just really solid. I know this is the fandom’s favorite, and everyone is gonna shit their pants because it didn’t make my top 10, but this is my list. So, I put it at number 12. It’s good. I like it. It just didn’t steal my wallet like other episodes did. Put the pitchforks down. It’s gonna be okay, you can still love it more than me. 8/10

13. New York Special- I know everyone felt some type of way about this special, but I wasn’t mad at it. My perception of it might be clouded because I watched it in Disney World where I was chilling and having a great time, but like this special really did somethings for me. The Adrinette was top tier. Tippy top tier. Even though they hurt us in the end, I am okay with it because it just means the children will grow and come out stronger. I don’t care if it’s not technically canon. Ask me if I give a fuck. I don’t. I had fun here. 8/10. Solid.

14. The Collector- This one might shock a lot of you, but let me paint you a scene. It’s the first episode of s2. We have just come off a 2 year hiatus. The fandom is thriving. We’re hungry for canon content. We have hopes and dreams and expectations. Everyone is going wild with theories. This episode confirmed something that was long since obvious (in my opinion) and ended the stupid arguments people had been having. It made Gabriel actually seem semi-competent. We got our first taste of how Chat/Adrien will react to his dad being Hawkmoth. We got a peek at their life. Adrien’s isolation and sadness. They were so close to figuring it out. The battle was epic. Like Collector really had them on the ropes there for a second. It’s a solid episode, yall. I’m not wrong. Hate me all you want, but this episode brought it. 8/10

15. Despair Bear- Is this episode up this high because of the Adrinette slow dance scene? YOU BET YOUR ASS IT IS. Okay, but fr though, shipping aside, this episode gave us hope that Chloe was actually gonna redeem herself. I mean, she didn’t but, we didn’t know that at the time. Seeing her run around trying to be nice was fun. And then she actually did something good, and we had a moment of okay, she’s capable. We’ll get there. We didn’t. But what a ride this episode was for making us think she would. 8/10

16. Startrain- Cat, you’re just ranking all the Adrinette episodes highest. And? What of it? Are you surprised? You clicked a blog that has simping for Adrinette in the description, and you’re surprised all my favorite episodes have Adrinette? I’m not wrong, you’re just an idiot. The Adrinette nap cuddles aside though, this was a pretty good episode. If you don’t think too hard about the whole space thing, we got a look at Max’s life, his mom is a driven, smart lady doing her best. Adrien rebels against papa for once. Alya stops a Lila scheme. Chloe gets to play the hero. Alya and Nino actually investigate like the heroes they are. Gabriel gets to realize what a dumbass bitch he is. I mean. Guys. Startrain is solid. 7.5/10

17. Sapotis- This one shot up in rank for me after GoS, but tbh it’s always been a solid episode. Alyanette sleepover? Check. Alya becoming a superhero? Check. It’s a fun episode. And looking back, it’s nicely called back to later in GoS. We love it. 7.5/10

18. Sandboy- Idk why I enjoy this episode as much as I do, but I do. Sandboy is a cute bean. I love his aesthetic. We also get hilarious looks at everyone’s nightmares. “Plagg, who turned you into a sock?” cracks me up cause like Adrien, bby, no XD And Chat Noir’s nightmare. I think it would have been interesting though if since Sandboy dusted the Agreste mansion, if we got a peek at Hawkmoth’s nightmares. It would have been a nice hint of plot to go along with Master Fu’s nightmare. Also Plagg giving the akuma the slip like the clever boy we know he is deep down? 7.5/10

19. Furious Fu- If you guys haven’t realized by now that I love Fu, idk what you’re doing. Pay attention. I know that some people don’t like him, but I’m just gonna say it, you’re wrong. Fu took care of the Miracle Box for over 100 years, and this episode kind of gives some insight to what the Order was like. Very strict. Lots of rules. And ya know what, Fu said fuck the police, I’m gonna befriend these little magical demigods, and fuck off! Like what an absolute legend. I was really happy to see him living his best life, and that he and Marianne got married because it’s what he deserves. We love to see it. 7.5/10

20. Gamer- People like to shit on Marinette in this episode, but like honestly, if I were in her shoes, I’d have probably done the same thing if I had the skill. Ain’t nothing wrong with a girl trying to spend time with the boy she likes. And Tom and Sabine being absolute shipping trash. I love them. And the awkward Adrinette. The introduction of the lucky charm that Adrien STILL carries. Wholesome. This was a good episode for their friendship, and we love to see it. 7.5/10

21. Christmaster- Okay, I know a lot of people hated this episode when it aired, but I thought it was really funny? Everyone skidding around in the ice rink was hilarious. If you don’t take this episode seriously, it’s really fun. Chris is pretty cute, and damn right Ladybug is the best kid in the world. Idk. This episode is fun. I’m not mad at it. Sue me. 7.5/10

22. Weredad- What? Another MC-heavy episode in Cat’s top 30? Listen, I don’t hate canon MC. The fans just annoy me. This episode was funny. The secondhand embarrassment and cringe was real. Plagg taunting Adrien because he knows the secret was great. Marinette being a self-saving queen was great. It’s a good episode. I like MC, you guys. I do. I swear! 7.5/10

23. Miraculer- This episode was interesting to me, and I think it’s still a good development episode. For one, Sabrina finally got her own akuma episode named after her. Secondly, because it’s a big step for Chloe, just not in the way we expected. It totally makes sense that Chloe can’t have her Miraculous back because literally everyone knows her identity. Can’t argue that logic. And she is the first person to ever refuse to become akumatized, so like mad respect. I know a lot of people had high hopes for redeemed Chloe (myself included), but I think watching a character fall from revering someone to hating them is also an interesting path. The friends to enemies arc as it were. Idk. I liked this episode. It was an opportunity for Chloe to grow, even if she didn’t in the end, but we’ll talk about that later. 7.5/10

24. Lady Wifi- I like Alya. I feel like I don’t say that much, and people make some assumptions because of MDCSP, but MDCSP is just a concept I wanted to explore. It doesn’t really reflect how I feel about any one character. Except maybe Lila. And Gabe. But every other spite fic I’ve written branching from Chameleon, the class has been fine. Alya has been fine. So, let it be known that I like Alya. Lady Wifi was a fun episode. Putting aside the fact that she thought Chloe was Ladybug for no reason, I like her akuma. I like the interactions we get with LadyNoir in this episode. After GoS, this episode gets a bit funnier. It’s solid. 7/10

25. Dark Cupid- I don’t have much to say about this one. LadyNoir. That’s it. That’s the tweet. Send it. 7/10

26. Volpina- So many things about this episode. It introduced a new antagonist who we didn’t exactly 100% know was going to be an antagonist at the time. This episode sparked a lot of fun fan theories for a while. Who was Lila? How was she going to shake things up? Not to mention this episode gave us a taste of plot and lore, and set up Marinette meeting Master Fu officially. Lots of intrigue sparked from this episode. And that LadyNoir door scene? OOOOOO 7/10

27. Hearthunter- One word: Adrigaminette. This episode was so cute for them! I loved seeing them all goofing and running around together. Adrien and Kagami being absolutely in love with Marinette when her hair is down. They both love her, I don’t make the rules. Not to mention, Marinette takes a big step by letting her friends be happy without her. Kagami not wanting to hurt Marinette. The drama!! Gabriel being a messy ass bitch to his friends. It loses points for the abomination of an akuma, but overall, I wasn’t too mad at it. Yet. 7/10

28. Glaciator- More MC in Cat’s top 30? It’s more likely than you think. Listen. Listen… Listen. MC is fine. This episode was the closest thing to fanfiction that we got. The balcony scene was really sweet. I was drinking the irony. We got introduced to Andre the icecream fraud. Andre the please just give me the flavor I asked for man. I could have done without Chat pouting, but the LadyNoir in the end was pretty good. I wish they’d done more with Ladybug’s feelings for Chat. Had her question herself a bit more after this one, but overall, it’s cute. 7/10

29. Zombizou- A lot of people started hating Mlle. Bustier after this episode, and like I can kind of see it, if I squint, but I did not draw that same conclusion from this episode. Mlle. Bustier just wants good things for all of her students. They’re 14 ffs, she just wants to be a good influence on all of her students and wants them all to be successful. But go off, I guess? Plus, this episode was basically just a spoof on zombie apocalypse movies. We got so many things. Julerose, Myvan, DJWifi. Chloe actually showing some depth and emotion. LadyNoir. We won this episode, babes. Sorry you didn’t get the memo. 7/10

30. Timetagger- Okay. This is the last episode in the ones that I’d venture to call “good.” Number 30. I enjoyed Timetagger. I know people have feelings about timey-wimey bullshit, and like I’m not gonna lie and say I’m thrilled with it either (I mean, I changed the rabbit’s power in MDCSP) but that being said, Timetagger was so sassy. Bunnix was cool as hell. We get to see that LB and CN are still doing the thing in the future. So many questions sparked from this episode. It was fun. Idk. I liked it. That’s all I got. 7/10

31. Malediktator- Okay, from this point on, less comments because this is the section that are more or less just meh to me. Like they’re fine. This episode was fine. Chloe was fine. Chat playing with the laser was cute. 6.5/10

32. Mayura- Adrien’s speech at the end. Nuff said 6.5/10

33. Ikari Gozen- Ryuko/Ryuuko. Gals being pals. 6.5/10

34. Reflekdoll- I talked about this earlier, but I don’t hate this episode. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. Sue me. 6.5/10

35. Anansi- Nino is the goodest boy. Also I need more of the gang taking Adrien on adventures via Facetime. Stat. 6.5/10

36. Shanghai- This one is new, and tbh I still haven’t watched it with subs, but I had a good time. Fei was cute. The boy squad was cute. Adrien bonding with Great Uncle Cheng was cute. Hawkmoth getting literally dunked on was *chefs kiss* 6.5/10

37. Gigantitan- I love overly supportive, ride-or-die girl squad. 6.5/10

38. Party Crasher- Idk why this episode was funny to me. Kim is the purest bean. We don’t deserve him. 6.5/10

39. Desperada- This episode was an emotional roller coaster, and even though we all collectively hate Aspik’s stupid egghead, we love the Ladrien this episode provided us. 6/10

40. Oni-chan- Listen, I loved seeing Lila get a tiny bit of karma even if she made it up in the end. I loved Chat going off on her. I loved seeing her get outsmarted in the end. 6/10

41. Frightningale- My good lesbian Clara Nightingale. We stan. 6/10

42. Style Queen- I like Audrey in a “she’s the worst person I’ve ever met, I want to travel the world with her” kind of way. She’s funny to me. Idk. I love her firing everyone. She’s the one I love to hate. She’s the worst, but we love her for it. Plus this episode gave us Plagg’s adorable little Cataclysm that destroyed half the city. 6/10

43. Gamer 2.0- Chat confidently strutting in heels made this episode worth it. And we get to see the beginning of Marinette being overwhelmed. Plus it was the return of gamer!nette. 6/10

44. Troublemaker- I don’t hate this episode as much as the next person either. It was fine. Jagged is a manchild, but we love him for it. He’s a Marinette stan which like mood. The Adrinette at the end was cute. I wasn’t mad at it. Idk. It’s fine. 6/10

45. Reflekta- Where are all my Juleka stans at? I loved the LadyNoir banter in this ep. V. cute. 6/10

46. Dark Owl- This episode was fun. And it really shows their level of trust. Plus Plagg and Tikki interacted. 6/10

47. Timebreaker- Have I ever mentioned that I like Alix? I like Alix. 6/10

48. Silencer- I don’t hate this episode as much as you’d expect me to, and that is 100% because of the LadyNoir. 5.5/10

49. Prime Queen- Chat purrs. 5.5/10

50. Syren- I think the fish power-up is adorable. Ondine is a gem. Kim is a pure bean, but we been knew. 5.5/10

51. Befana- I like Gina, but this episode fell flat for me. Almost as flat as the animation. 5.5/10

52. Reverser- Another episode that everyone hates that I am actually fine with. This episode made me like Nathaniel more. Probably because I was previously indifferent toward him. Marc is cute too. 5.5/10

53. Mr. Pigeon- Marinette is one clever girl. And the Adrinette hand-touch. 5.5/10

54. Felix- Felix is a gremlin of chaos. A true chaotic neutral. He gives his uncle the finger, and I think that’s beautiful. 5.5/10

55. Truth- Bet you expected this episode to be higher. While I did enjoy watching toxic people’s world crumble, this episode still gets a meh from me dog. 5/10

56. Lies- The Adrigami was cute, and I respect Kagami as a character. The akuma could have been better tho. 5/10

57. Princess Fragrance- Not much to say here. 5/10

64. Catalyst- I know I ranked Mayura way higher, but Catalyst fell flat for me. Like it was fine. Wasn’t as into it though. 4.5/10

65. Puppeteer- One of my favorite lucky charm uses. 4.5/10

75. Captain Hardrock- I’m gonna be honest. My apathy for this episode has grown into loathing. Toxic stans are 100% to blame. Birthday ruining, bitches. This is the reason I threw a breakup bash after Truth. Yall deserved it. 3/10

76. Christmas Special- I didn’t hate this episode as much as everyone, but it still wasn’t great. 2.5/10

77. Stormy Weather 2.0- This episode was really dumb. It didn’t need to exist. 2.0/10

78. Queen Wasp- Why did we give Chloe a Miraculous after this episode? 2/10

79. Animaestro- Did we really need a self-insert? Did we really? 2/10

80. Puppeteer 2.0- Listen, this episode would have made more sense in s1 or at the very latest early s2. Adrien gave a whole ass speech on how great Marinette is, then he turns around and is like idk if she likes me… Clean it up. 2/10

81. Miracle Queen- I could talk at length about how much I hate the ending of this episode and what they did with Chloe and Master Fu, but we’re just going to remain calm and give it a solid 1.5/10

82. Frozer- This episode made no goddamn sense. I call bullshit on so many things. Just ugh. 1/10

83. Chameleon- Surprisingly, even though this episode sparked many, many spite fics out of me, it’s not my least favorite because at least Ladybug semi-redeemed this episode. Still really dumb and ooc tho. 1/10

84. Feast- Okay, okay, okay, here we are. Bottom of the barrel. Cat’s most hated episode, and you wanna know why? You want to know why this episode fills me with the rage? Because we spent two fucking seasons building up all this mystery and lore and intrigue surrounding Fu’s big mistake, and they dropped the fucking ball! They did my mans so dirty! They could have really deepened his character, deepened the Order, deepened anything other than whatever fucking affair Gabriel and Nathalie have going on, but NO. They made it some stupid, bland-ass thing that got resolved magically in the end, then just ignored it for the rest of the season. I will never not be salty about how they did my boy Fu in this show. I’m happy he found his peace, but fuck if I’m not livid about how they did it. Whatever. Chat being done with Ladybug’s shit when they’re about to get eaten was funny I guess. .5/10

As far as I'm aware there just plain isn't a fandom safe from the drama and toxicity and fighting. PJO is the most chill one I'm in but that's cause I heavily curate my experience to avoid the bigger drama and hit the block button when people are doing stuff I don't like. It's definitely not nearly as bad as the Fablehaven fandom used to be (maybe it still is, idk, I have half the fandom blocked cause of past drama, I stick with the group I know don't cause drama now), or the miraculous ladybug fandom is now.

But oof, yeah there are wild ships out there. I always check tags on stuff before reading for that reason.

And I completely feel you on the myths. It's painful listening to the stuff people say sometimes, and every time I do more research on myths I'm not familiar with for ATLOP I want to cry.

Hera deserves better like stars alkjdsfa you can barely talk about her (or Zeus) without people insisting they're horrid. They're literally amazing, love Them both (Rick is just mean to Them in his writing).

But alkjds, I'm very flattered you consider my blog a safe space. I do try hard to make sure my tag system makes it easy to avoid posts you don't want to see.

I edited the ask slightly to make it clear this is about apologists making excuses for Chloé's behavior and not fans who just feel frustrated over not getting an arc they wished to see.

It doesn’t give Chloe the right to degrade and abuse people. Im not sure if Chloe needs to hit rock bottom before she turn things around or this is heading towards a corruption arc. However im also annoyed when parts of her fandom claim it’s misogynistic that she doesn’t get better.

Because sometimes bad people stay bad and never get better, it would be a very powerful lesson to teach kids who are in toxic abusive relationships especially with childhood friends that sometimes you have to let them go and cut them off because they’re causing you harm. It was very powerful of Adrien to stand up to Chloe multiple times as an abuse victim and not let her drag him down to her level. All the people mad at him for queen banana don’t realize that Adrien can’t make chloe a kinder person. No one can make someone mean good.

Plus the show is chock full of actual good and kind girls with positive supportive friendships so having one or even two female characters turn out bad isn’t sexist to me. Same with people who claim Zoe is a Mary Sue and it’s wrong that she’s replacing Chloe. Which is weird because Zoe can’t replace what Chloe never was, a friend to the main cast. Chloe was never close with the class or their friend even if she tried to be involved in their projects he never tried to get along with the others.

Plus Zoe made a mistake by trying to emulate her family and be a bully but eventually realized being awful like them wasn’t worth their approval. Whether she’s a better hero or deserves the miraculous is another discussion but we’re talking about Chloe here. If she continues down the path of selfishness and hate becoming like her mother and her sister Zoe, who also comes from an abusive family, doesn’t that just means one overcame their trauma and the other didn’t.

Sorry for the rant just I’m so tired of seeing the tag be cluttered up by Chloe apologists who won’t stop crying or complaining about her character.

With what the canon actually gave us, Chloé's arc could have gone, and could still go, either way on the redemption/corruption scale. Yes, Chloé messed up royally in the season three finale, but she was under duress to a degree. While Chloé showed few signs of becoming a selfless hero, since most of the people she helped as a hero were people she put in bad situations to begin with or she helped out to get to hang out with Ladybug, she's also showed no signs of becoming a true villain the same way Lila has. We can clearly see Lila developing into a supervillain, but Chloé is very much stuck in the middle and could go either way if she suddenly got superpowers with no strings attached.

The real issue here is Chloé's civilian life. She's never been kind to her classmates and goes out of her way to make sure they have a bad time. This has never been influenced by whether or not she had a Miraculous, so obviously something not-superpowers-related needs to happen for her to see anything wrong with what she's doing.

And there's a real chance Zoé is meant to be that thing that makes Chloé see. Chloé could see how her sister was forgiven and welcomed by her classmates and realize how easy it is to stop being awful and get validation and friendship from the class that way. This realization might make her look down on the class as gullible fools, like Lila, or it might make Chloé want to belong and try to adjust her behavior, having her follow Zoé's lead.

Of course there's still a chance that Chloé will just keep swinging between sitcom arch nemesis and not-quite-a-supervillain, that she'll still be used as a civilian life obstacle for the heroes to overcome and she's not meant to be redeemed or corrupted. In this case I can see this fandom discourse continuing for years to come, since it's the uncertainty of Chloé's role that's fuelling it so much.

Crying misogyny every time your favorite female character is treated in a way you don't like, when it’s used in a way that’s clearly just a buzzword meant to manipulate people, is something I'm just so done with. In the case of Miraculous, though, it's especially misguided, with how much the creators clearly try to be feminist. It's one thing to say something they did fails at that goal and leans into sexist attitudes and another to say they're being purposefully misogynistic because the show isn’t to your tastes. Because, let’s face it, a lot of the show’s attempts at being progressive have been tone deaf, but it usually seems to happen by accident and sometimes, at least with Fei’s design, they seem to be willing to amend a mistake when it gets pointed out.

Also, because sexism and feminism are about gender politics, the thing with discussing sexism is not actually comparing a female character with other female characters, it's about comparing a female character with male characters. If a show aims for gender equality, a character's gender can't influence how they are treated. This means we need to see if we can compare Chloé's character to a male character and find equality.

And we can. Miraculous Ladybug has a male character who causes others pain on purpose. This same character has several chances to stop being awful with "not being awful" costing him nothing. He even shows a softer side in 'Style Queen', just like Chloé in that same episode, but ultimately tosses that change aside when he finds something he thinks can help him gain his goals, like Chloé does in 'Miracle Queen'.

I am of course talking about Gabriel Agreste. I have repeatedly said that Marinette and Chloé are mirrors, what the other could be if they changed how they view other people and themselves. Gabriel is a foil to Marinette, so he naturally mirrors Chloé as well. However, Gabriel's arc has a similar forwards-and-backwards beat as Chloé's does. Even Chloé Apologists recognize the similarities between the two, since I've seen them voicing concerns that Gabriel might get redeemed while Chloé doesn't, because they think Gabriel having sympathetic aspects is a sign of a redemption arc for him like it supposedly was for Chloé. Instead, they are still both firmly in the area of antagonists and villains.

Although I will concede one key difference: Chloé is still way more likely to get redeemed than Gabriel.

I also think that, even if Chloé does get redeemed eventually, it’s still important that Adrien didn’t just hang on waiting for it when she spent so long proving again and again that she didn’t want to change. Because the other characters couldn’t know for sure if Chloé would change. Just like in the real world you won’t know for sure if your toxic friend will ever change, so you might have to let them go for your own sake. Even if they might get better one day, even if you’re not their target, it’s not on you to stand by them when they do things that are against your personal ethics.

I feel like everyone complaining about toxic fandoms just... they’re just young and don’t know the truth.

Dude- every fandom is pretty toxic. You have the crazy shippers who send threatening messages, you have the stans who REFUSE to admit their favs can be bad, you have the people attacking others for ships.

Trust me, some fandoms... I honestly think one of the most toxic I ever was in was Lovestruck actually. I saw so much hate in that fandom, I saw people getting threatened because they liked on route over another. I got called homophobic once.

Lovestruck was toxic.

Miraculous Ladybug is toxic. With all the salt, and the hate... it’s toxic.

Marvel Cinematic Universe? TOXIC. Just mentioned Civil War ANYTHING and there will be a knock down fight.

Naruto? Ooooh boy, that’s a shit storm and a half. The pairing wars ALONE give me flashbacks.

So when people claim that MHA is toxic I laugh. Cause dude- it might be but so is every other fandom out there. It’s just popular now so everyone hears about the crazy ass shit going down more.

But given places like the Star Wars fandom that bullied actors off social media, the Mass Effect fandom sending things to Bioware to try and force them to change the ending of a published game, the fucked up Voltron fandom...

I think MHA is just like every other one.

Let the Sunshine In - Chapter 6

Masterlist (because I finally learned to make one)

Five years ago Jason would have said he felt like death. Now Jason would have welcomed death with open arms if he thought Ra’as wouldn’t just track his body down and resurrect him again, even more broken the second time around.

Also, saying that you felt like death usually implied that someone was listening, which definitely was not the case. He felt like a ghost in a number of ways, a specter trapped between heaven and hell, desperate for someone to notice him, confirm that he existed. But the feeling of emptiness, of invisibility was put aside in the name of anger. After all, anger reigned supreme in his mind.

As each day passed, thoughts of Marinette slowly faded. It couldn't have been more than a week since he’d left her house, but the memories felt years old, a fleeting moment of light that could never have been permanent. It was almost easier that way, so he couldn’t reflect on how badly he’d messed up.

Not that Jason had any time to reflect. Each day without Marinette meant that the anger was becoming stronger and more frequent. He found himself blacking out for large chunks of time, and when he woke up he would wake up in the Red Hood mask, covered in blood that wasn’t his.

A part of him didn’t know why he even bothered with the costume - he was already a monster, no one could deny it. Part his reasoning for the costume was simply habit from his days as Robin, but a large part of his motivation was the thought of Marinette stumbling across him in the street. Just imagining the look of horror on her face was enough to shatter what little sense of self he had.

Maybe Marinette meant more to him than he was willing to admit.

So, Jason existed, even though he didn’t want to. It only took a week for Paris to start talking about him consistently, so he watched the news, monitored what he did when he wasn’t in control. It seemed that he hadn’t killed anyone yet - or if he had, the Miraculous Cure had brought them back. Apparently he lost consciousness during akuma attacks, and on several occasions he’d simply shot the akuma down, disappearing while Ladybug and Chat Noir dealt with the aftermath.

In theory the fact that he hadn’t shot anyone should have been some small consolation, but he couldn’t avoid that suspicion that he wasn’t actually helping the French heroes. He’d dealt with enough in Gotham to know when something was playing head games to accomplish their own means, and whatever it was that controlled him during his blackouts wanted something sinister.

Weeks passed just like that, Jason slowly losing himself day by day to the anger, the destruction he caused.

The nothingness.

Disguises, masks, his life was pushed into the shadows. He didn’t even think that he could actually call this living. Jason chuckled to himself, the sound cold and empty. His miraculous second chance at life left him in even worse shape than before Bruce found him, cold and hungry and completely without the will to live.

Jason didn’t have much hope for the future - really, he had a single hope. When the time came, he hoped that next time he stayed dead.

She couldn’t understand - Marinette had known Jay for less than twenty-four hours, but the memory of him still haunted her. Did he have a safe place to stay? Was he eating enough? Had he fully succumbed to the influence of the Lazarus Pits yet?

Shaking herself, she turned her attention back to the issue at hand: Red Hood, the mysterious new vigilante. He had dodged any efforts she or Chat made to follow or talk to him, so they decided to split up and look for him outside of an akuma attack. It was doubtful that it would yield anything, but Marinette knew that if that hideous outfit she’d been forced to make was visible, she would spot it. The jury was still out on whether or not she would destroy it - if the opportunity presented itself, she would be more than tempted.

Swinging around the city until it was dark seemed like more than enough, though. Pausing on a rooftop, Ladybug spoke into her yo-yo. “I think it’s time to call it quits, Chaton. We both need to get some rest.”

“Brilliant idea, M’Lady. Don’t worry, we’ll find him soon.”

“I have no doubt about that, Chaton. After all, I can’t just let him steal my colors like this.”

Chat Noir let out a surprised bark of laughter. “I don’t know what happened to bring you back to yourself, Bugaboo, but it’s nice to have the old you back.”

“It feels nice to be back, Kitty. Now sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”

“Oh, you’re trying to steal my lines now? Just you wait, my new jokes are going to be insuf-fur-able.”

The two bantered a bit before finally saying goodbye. Detransforming, Marinette clambered down the building’s fire escape. It was dusk, so she probably should have gone straight home, but there was a grocery store not too far away, and she needed a few things.

“Bonjour,” the tired shop owner called upon her entrance.

“Bonjour!” Marinette replied, mentally making a list of things she needed. She was content to browse the shelves idly, despite the dwindling sunlight. It was a smaller store, and a handful of others milled around as well.

Marinette was staring down the produce and deciding what she wanted to make the coming week when the shopkeeper yelled, “Stop! Thief!”

Instinctively dropping her basket, Marinette launched herself to the doors of the store where someone was attempting to flee. He got caught up in a crowd on the sidewalk, which gave Marinette more time to catch up to him.

The closer she got to him, the more she recognized an eerie situation permeating the air. Now with completely different intentions, Marinette pounced, catching Jay’s and in hers.

She hauled him into an empty alleyway before demanding, “Jay? Are you okay? What’s going on? Why did you leave? Especially if you have to steal!”

Seeing him like this hurt, definitely more than Marinette could have ever expected it to. His eyes widened when they met hers, full of emotions - pain, fear, and regret swirled in his eyes before that same toxic green clouded them and anger reigned supreme. Snarling like a feral animal, he lunged towards Marinette with hands outstretched.

Marinette had been dreaming of finding Jay again for weeks, but this wasn’t how she’d pictured any of it happening. She dodged instinctively, and her stomach twisted when his jacket fell open just enough to see the familiar bullet proof material he wore underneath.

So, it seemed she’d found Red Hood after all.

None of it made sense just yet, but some of the pieces were starting to fall into place. All along it had seemed like Red Hood had been attempting to help in his own, destructive way, but he had never spoken, and his movements were always jerky, uncontrolled, not at all the way that Jay moved ordinarily. As someone alive because of the pits, he was probably drawn to all of the errant Miraculous energy.

It wasn’t fair. Overwhelmed by the injustice of his situation, Marinette’s body took over. She ducked another of his lunges and pivoted on her heel, her other one connecting solidly with his temple. He crumpled on impact, leaving Marinette panting and slightly regretting her hasty action. But her recently unleashed emotions burned within her.

Screw the Lazarus Pits, screw Jay’s anger, and screw Hawkmoth. Neither of them had asked for any of this - neither of them deserved any of this.

She went back in to pay for the food she’d dropped and he’d stolen before calling a taxi.

“Marinette, what are you thinking?” Tikki asked, flitting around her head while they waited.

“I’ve been complacent for too long. I understand why I’ve done what I’ve done, but no more. Hawkmoth, whoever did this to Jay, they better watch out because I’m taking our lives back.” Marinette glanced to the bag she assumed held Red Hood’s helmet. “But only after I burn that awful helmet.”

Tikki couldn’t reply because it was then that the cabbie arrived, but she settled in Marinette’s purse, practically glowing. Finally.

Hey guys, I know it's been forever, sorry about that. I had a wicked case of writer's block, which was compounded by the fact that I only have the loosest of outlines for this fic.
