with all of this like “gender lefties are turning kids trans” bills that are going out, i just think about how hard and how long it took me to get testosterone, after 3 years of social transition, and how many doctors i had to explain myself too.

that now, after 8 years i finally have a birth certificate. and i was fucking Lucky. i live in one of the best states in a liberal city and still had to fight for every drop of respect and the health care i needed.

hours of mandated therapy. dozens of doctors appointments. reading and signing pages and pages describing exactly what would or could happen to my body from taking hormones. weeks and years of trying to find a surgeon that cared. changing insurance and starting over, going through more talks about why i wanted to change my body, thousands of dollars of medical debt.

and again. i’m lucky. i could get access. i had supportive parents. and still, doctors or hospitals or just people in my life were saying “it’s not enough proof for us”

nobody is passing out hormones to kids. nobody and i mean Nobody is preforming surgery on children. Hormone blockers are entirely reversible once stopped. Parents and families know what’s best for their own children. And having states pass bills that keep kids from being who they are will only cause more death.

Like damn. The Truman Show is such a good movie. It’s so.... idk something about the ways in which the movie does give Truman privacy in his realizations, respects his mind in his torment. As he starts to escape, we lose access to him as viewers, and thank god. In his personhood he has always been free-- that’s why they’re watching him, that’s why we’re watching him, and that’s why the movie refuses to violate him in the same way the Show does. Shit man. “you never had a camera in my head” yeah.
