i don't know if anyone has noticed this, but every cassandra clare's female protagonist ends up with a guy whose name starts with j.

so i was thinking about he wicked powers and how i want dru to be the first female protagonist to break this "rule". i don't want her with jaime, she and ash are much more interesting.

Rewriting the Infernal Devices in the style of Berserk. Will never learns his curse is fake, he loses his shit when Jem dies (yeah he actually dies) and kills Tessa instead of rescuing her, that way she won't die bc she loved him, she died because he loved her. Her death ensures everyone else will forever hate him and thus not die. Will goes on living and killing demons in the dark without ever telling people he's ridding the world of darkness. He's hated and pursued, this is the life he chose from himself, living with the guilt of having neither saved his parabatai nor his lover, living vicariously through killing, unloved and unwanted, but fundamentally good.

WHY IS JESSA SO ONE SIDED???

Reading clockwork prince made me realize Jessa is so one sided :(

I'm re-reading all tid because why not, and I realized that Tessa doesn't really love Jem. I remembered it being the same type of feelings she had for Will, but in the book it's so clear that it's not. I don't remember if it does grow into love in the next book, but here's some stuff that made me get here:

-So, Jem and Tessa have all that scene after they go get Will from the iftris place which is such a cute scene, and honestly, everything there seems fine.

-BUT when Jem proposes to her, and tells her in SUCH a lovely way that he loves her, it actually never says anything that might leed you to think it's reciprocated, as in "her heart speed up" or "she blushed" or something about the same style. She never actually mentions "love", but tenderness and a strong feeling to protect him.(page 428)

-When Will tells her he loves her, however, it's completely different. You can tell she DOES have actual romantic feelings for him. Also, when she tells Will that she's marrying Jem, he says:

"Do you love him?"

"Yes, I love him. Don't you?"

SO, OKAY. IT'S NOT THE SAME TYPE OF LOVE, TESSA. Plus, in all this scene, she never actually thinks "my heart is with Jem, I'm in love with him". But more like "how much would it hurt him if I just said "WELP I'M OFF WITH WILL BYEEE"" So yeah. Or if there is, it doesn't really seem genuine, but like self convincing? (470)

-Several times she asks herself if "this is what love is" refering to the strong feeling of protection and caring, but nothing that's actually romantic, but platonic.

-And then in page 492, it says: "She willed herself to melt into the kiss" refering to Jem, kissing her. She's forcing herself into LIKING it. Which is juts plain SAD :((.

-In general, we get to see how Jem is absolutely crazy about her, but we never get a clear sight of what Tessa ACTUALLY feels, apart from an incredibly strong friendship. Because comparing it to the way she feels and thinks about Will, the romance lacks.

I find this sad, because I always pictured Tessa feeling the same for the two boys :(

Still, that's not the impression I have of them after reading Tda and Secrets of Blackthorn Hall. Which leads me to think this will develop into actual romantic feelings in book 3?

Anyway, you guys tell me if it makes sense. I'll comment it once I finish clockwork princess and compare :b
