I just want to say that anyone who thinks Steve would be a republican is 1) wrong, and 2) Steve blew up 3 huge murder airplanes and exposed an entire government in the span of like, 3 days, after he found out about Hydra. Steve would take ONE (1) look at the GOP and clock every. Single. Fascist and white supremacist in under 5 seconds.
You think he'd ever ever support them? You think after he pledged in 1945 to "Not stop until all of Hydra is dead or captured" he'd just turn around and be like "fascism is okay, actually." ?????
You think Steve after living through the Great Depression, coming from a single-mother 1st Gen immigrant household and chronically ill background would be like "Actually guys, capitalism rules!" I have to laugh.
Steve was coming of age when the American Socialist party was being formed and gaining alot of traction due to the depression. Steve lived in extreme poverty, Steve in the comics is a socialist. It's a thousand times more likely Steve would be a leftist than he would ever EVER be a republican.
Also. The disrespect to an Antifa character?? And call them a republican??

i hate it when people make the joke like "oh steve rogers is a right-wing conservative" like shut up shut up Shut Up!!! just say you know nothing about steve rogers and go! steve is actively cussing out his landlord for putting the rent too high. steve is beating the shit out of neo-nazis. the first time steve is talking about the 40s at like colombia or whatever and some dude asks "what do you think would've happend if hitler won?" he's halfway over the table, about to beat the shit out that man, before he realizes that civilians are off-limits. tucker carlson hates him! steve rogers is at every anti-war protrest he can find. the first press confrence the avengers do, steve leans into the mike unprompted and says "unionize. they wouldn't hate it so much if it didn't work." then two seconds later leans in again and says "also, i dont agree with what we're doing in the middle east. stop using my image as propaganda. i will sue." stevie, babyboy, get behind me.

From Ice and Ashes (Steve Rogers / Stucky Fanfic)
Steve asks: “How do you move on?”
Sam’s eyebrows shoot skyward. He whistles air out from pursed lips. “Do you want the therapist answer or the real one?”
“Surprise me.”
“The truth is – you don’t get over it,” Sam says, his voice low. “Not when it’s that close to your soul. Not when he’s someone you built yourself up around. Maybe you fall in love again, maybe you don’t. It won’t feel the same. He’ll always be coming up in your peripheral.” As the bus pulls to a stop in front of them, Sam grips his shoulder. “But you still gotta keep living your life. For his memory, yeah. But mostly for yourself.”
_____
Steve Rogers learns what it means to be a queer hero in a complicated modern age. He tries to move on from the pull of the past, and his lost loves, but fate rarely lets him catch a break.

WIP- a Stucky G-rated gift
My cousin, D, is AMAZEBALLS. She’s just as into fandom as me. So for the holidays I said I gifted her a “Coupon” for a story written to her specifications. I’m finally getting around to making it a reality:
The prompt:
Rated G, Captain America - Stucky, with pre or post serum steve, hyper leftist Steve. 3rd person not knowing the main couple is a couple due to their own bias. Couple either leaning into them not knowing and messing with them, or saying HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW???
The plan/outline!!!
Told from the perspective of the news media!!! - Rated G - Stucky, a third person THE MEDIA being oblivious- "BEST FRIENDS" "ROOMMATES" "BROMANCE."
NYTimes - Steve Calling out America's Oligarchy, and ACAB - aka the defenders of the status quo)
20/20 - ADA (skinny Steve, need I say more???), Vaccines and Autism (been around for years and it's NOT because of vaccines- you realize what you're saying anyway? that a dead child is better???),
60 minutes - America's Colonialist War industry, Veteran's Affairs, (and the Sokovia accords. Maybe?)
Washington Post - Running the DC Memorials - Friendship with Sam, marching with BLM (handing the microphone to Sam; but a big proponent of reparations and giving credit to the US Black Panthers)
Smithsonian Magazine- America's History Lesson! like holy crap. uber leftist Steve. learning from primary sources
The View - Abortion, mother was a nurse, Republicans/conservatives/Christofascists saying he's been brainwashed - that freezing him rattled his brain. Calling for the Smithsonian to pull down their exhibit.
The Tonight Show - Book banning/burning, fierce Library supporter, all the neo-Nazis ("didn't I do this already???"), Announcing he's President of Antifa
Good Morning America - America's Champion, causes great and small. NOW at PRIDE and the best ALLY!!! CAPT as king(?) of PRIDE – LIVE TV KISS WITH BUCKY
SNL - "BEST FRIENDS" "ROOMMATES" "BROMANCE", Lil Nas X is the singer (OMG SHOULD THEY KISS???? Like duh, yes), President of Antifa (take two)
PBS The news hour - the media calling Steve the most high-profile ALLY at the PRIDE march (because he's known to go to every protest/march) Kissing Bucky- called a product of a "less toxic" time- ignoring anti-sodomy laws of course. First interview Where bucky has spoken- why? He loves sesame street. AND STUCKY GIVE THEM THE SCOOP OF COMING OUT
OUT Magazine - AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES??? HOW DID WE NOT KNOW??? History, more diverse and queer than most people think

(1) “Ah yes, you’re so different from Joaquin Torres. He’s got wings, you…also have wings. But hey, at least you got a metal frisbee to make you stand out!”
(2) “Nothing says America more than fighting the evil leftists who want a world without borders and stopping the forced relocation of people. Hell yeah!”
(3) “You know, the Avengers could’ve really used your help against Ultron. Even Steve Rogers took a break from finding Bucky!”

See there was a real opportunity to force Steve Rogers to reevaluate his WWII era beliefs about America but you all had to be like "it's fine Steve is totes a leftist!" instead so I am no friend to Captain America fandom.

John Turturro and John Goodman in Barton Fink (Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, 1991)
Cast: John Turturro, John Goodman, Judy Davis, Michael Lerner, John Mahoney, Tony Shalhoub, Jon Polito, Steve Buscemi. Screenplay: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen. Cinematography: Roger Deakins. Production design: Dennis Gassner. Film editing: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen. Music: Carter Burwell.
The Coen brothers are nothing if not audacious, and attempting something so outrageous and anomalous as Barton Fink at the beginning of their careers -- it was their fourth feature, after Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), and Miller's Crossing (1990) -- shows a certain amount of courage. It's a melange of satire, horror movie, comedy, thriller, fantasy, and fable that had many critics singing its praises. It was their first film to receive notice from the Motion Picture Academy, earning three Oscar nominations: supporting actor Michael Lerner, art directors Dennis Gassner and Nancy Haigh, and costume designer Richard Hornung. And it was the unanimous choice for the Palme d'Or at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival; Joel Coen also won as best director and John Turturro as best actor. Evidently it took everyone by surprise. But although it's a provocative and unsettling movie, there's not enough of any one element in the melange to suggest to me that it's more than the work of a couple of extraordinarily talented writer-directors riffing on whatever comes to their minds. Barton (Turturro) is a playwright whose hit on Broadway in 1941 gets him a bid to come work in Hollywood. There, studio head Jack Lipnick (Lerner) assigns him to write a wrestling picture for Wallace Beery. Stymied in his attempt to come up with a screenplay, Barton decides to pick the brain of a famous novelist who has also come to work in Hollywood, W.P. Mayhew (John Mahoney). The playwright, the studio head, and the novelist are all caricatures of Clifford Odets, Louis B. Mayer, and William Faulkner, respectively. Each caricature is well-done: What we see of Barton's play is a deft parody of the Odets-style leftist "little people" dramas like Waiting for Lefty and Awake and Sing! that Odets was known for. Lipnick is a rich, sentimental vulgarian with a mean streak, who like Mayer was born in Minsk. And Mayhew not only goes by the name "Bill," as Faulkner did among his friends and family, he also has a wife back home named Estelle, just as Faulkner did. Moreover, he is an alcoholic who is looked after in Hollywood by his mistress, Audrey Taylor (Judy Davis), who is clearly based on Faulkner's Hollywood mistress, Meta Carpenter. But then we have the turns into horror-fantasy when Barton tries to hole up in a Los Angeles hotel and makes friends with his next-door neighbor, an insurance salesman named Charlie Meadows (John Goodman). Good-time Charlie is later revealed to be a serial killer named Karl Mundt -- another of the Coens' in-jokes: The real-life Karl Mundt was a right-wing dunce who represented South Dakota (neighbor state to the Coens' Minnesota) in Washington from 1939 to 1973. Clearly, Barton Fink is not without a certain baroque fascination to it. It's the kind of film you can spend hours analyzing and annotating. But this makes it, for me, little more than a fabulous mess.

“Steve was a socialist and used to drag Bucky to protests and rallies!”
The fuck makes you think Bucky wasn’t also a socialist and wanted to go to protests and rallies, without being dragged?
You think someone with as strong of opinions as Steven Grant Rogers would’ve been Best Friends For Life with someone who didn’t share at least most of the same political opinions as him?
You think with Steve being dirt poor and heavily disabled (the reason everyone uses for why they think Steve is a socialist) Bucky wouldn’t have developed socialist ideals since they’d help his Best Friend For Life, if implemented?

-steve was an artist in nyc in the 30s!!! this means he was SURROUNDED by the leftist art scene in nyc and most definitely an FDR new Deal socialist!!! at art school he was likely surrounded by queer people - performers, artists, musicians, painters. in canon he lived in a historically queer neighborhood of Brooklyn!!!!
-he was a chronically ill disabled man during a time period where eugenicists openly campaigned on the streets in NYC for his extermination/sterilization!!! because he could hardly work and during the Crash/Great Depression this was tantamount to treason to some people. they would see him as "living off the system" with "nothing to contribute".
-his mother was an irish immigrant during a time period in the USA when irish people were treated as subhuman!!!! he was raised by a single mother!!!!! his mother died when he was a teenager!! he was impoverished!!
-he was impoverished and could not afford his own medicine!! he had asthma which was classified as a "mental illness" back then!! he had a bad heart from rheumatic fever (holy shit he must have been SO sick!!). rheumatic fever comes from untreated strep throat so he must have been so so sick and unable to afford treatment! he would have suffered a lifetime of swollen joints, heart valves, and blood vessels because of that! he was deaf in one ear and had pernicious anemia (he cant absorb b12) which must have been torture back then!!! he must have been so tired all the time, unable to move from sore joints, deaf, fatigued from no b12, dizzy from asthma, heart trouble from rheumatism and poor lungs.
-steve rogers was bi and disabled and a socialist and proud of it!!!! he was righteously angry for his circumstances and was compassionate towards the struggles of others which he could not comprehend (he sympathized with Peggy/feminism, he formed a commando unit with Gabe Jones -a black man- and Jim Morita -an ethnically Japanese man- during WWII when soldiers were still segregated & Japanese people were put in internment camps!!!, he was best friends with Bucky who was based on a canonically gay Jewish Marvel character!!!!)
-he was against the Accords because he saw the dangers of state-sanctioned violence (WWII, concentration camps, people wanting to kill disabled ppl/Jewish ppl/Japanese ppl), and he didnt trust any countries (THE USA ... infiltrated with Hydra, planned on mass murdering millions with the helicarriers in CATWS). he believe the will of good people usurped nations' agendas and had good reason to even if his logic was not 100% flawless!!!
-he sacrificed his friendships, standing in the world, and home to save one innocent man - Bucky - from persecution!!! He knew the whole reason he was even alive to be Cpt America in the first place (and to save millions in NY and stop Ultron in Sokovia) was bc Bucky saved him first!!! all through the 30s-40s!! Bucky fed him, cared for him when he was sick, was his moral and emotional support and loved him!!! there would be no Cpt America w/o Mr America!!!!!
-he was alone and on the run for two years without a home after installing Bucky in Wakanda!! he was alone when he returned from 1944 until the avengers were formed!! he was alone for 5 years after the Snap!!! he was alone so much of his life!!!
-he volunteered to return the infinity stones himself and be gone for who knows how long!!! he did this bc he loved his friends and it was a dangerous mission that might last a lifetime and he was stricken at the thought of losing any of them ever again (he believed for 5 yrs he personally failed and got half the universe killed during the Snap). who knows if he's still lost in the timelines, if old steve is the "real steve", or smth else!!
-he entrusted Sam with the shield (Steve loves Sam and knows hed be the Cpt America Steve couldnt be himself) and he trusted Sam with Bucky, and Bucky with Sam!!! he knew they would look out for each other until he returned home!!!
HE'S BEEN A GOOD BOY THE WHOLE TIME !!! leave britneyYYY ALONE lmao steve slander is
