Hi Hi could I request Kuroko, Kagamai, Akashi, Midorima and Murasakibara reaction to their s/o who's into photography and loves to take photos of them because they think their the most beautiful muse. They say things like "the light is hitting you perfectly please don't move until I take this picture." something like that lol
A/N: anon…this, THIS is a masterpiece of an idea and I love you for it (๑♡⌓♡๑) please enjoy! ♥️

Kuroko:
Tumblr media
ok so the first time you took a picture of him was during lunch break
since he usually likes to spend his free time in the classroom while eating his homemade bento, the moment you became a couple you’d always join him
one day you were a bit late because one of the teachers had held you up, so you quickly texted him an apology for your delay and told him you’d be there soon so he can start eating without you
when you finally arrived, you immediately proceeded to apologize but promptly shut your mouth as you saw the scenery before you
Kuroko was reading one of his many novels, his elbows propped on the very edges of his desk, bento box and chopsticks untouched before him, blue eyes fixated on the text before him
everything about this was perfect as is, but what really gripped you and made you unconsciously reach for your camera, that you always had dangling from your neck, was the way the morning sun hit his face casting an ever so small shadow that only further accentuated his beautiful and calm facial features
as if in trance you gently push the small button on top of your camera and the shutter goes off
surprised by the sudden sound he turned his head in your direction and wanted to greet you but you cut him off even before he uttered a single syllable: “Tetsu, don’t move! The way the sun hits the back of your head right now is perfect…I just need to take a picture so bear with me for a moment.”
the way you had your left arm outstretched to stop any of his movements while your eyes were hidden behind the small rectangular object didn’t stop your boyfriend’s light blush to spread across his cheeks
he wasn’t used to being the only one in a photo so that alone made him a little nervous and embarrassed, but your silent comments and compliments on how his hair looked even more remarkable under the sunlight or how his facial features managed to perfectly cast shadows on his face that made him look more mature made his heart race faster than any game
luckily for your lover, this situation showed him another side of you that he rarely got to see, and who was he to interrupt your adorable mumbling just because of his embarrassment?
.
since then you used any and every opportunity to take his photo, whether it was in Maji Burger as he drank his usual smoothie or when he waited for you in front of a fountain in the park where you scheduled your date
when he finally asked you about it you proudly announced: “I’m sorry, but I can’t help the fact that my lover is such an amazing model for basically any type of photo! I always thought that you were hiding your beauty beneath those bangs and turns out I was absolutely right!”
you continued showering him with compliments until he couldn’t take it anymore and shut you up with a gentle kiss
“If it weren’t for your keen eye, I could’ve continued hiding myself and avoid the other’s gazes”
“Do you hate being the center of attention that much?” you whispered out, your eyes directly peering into his own big ones
with a smile he gently caresses your cheek and answers: “Your attention is all I need.”
Kagami:
Tumblr media
Kagami was aware of your fascination for photography, I mean how could he not be when every time the two of you were out together for different reasons, you’d always take your camera with you and snap a photo or two
what he wasn’t aware of though, was what or better said who the subject of your images was
every time you reached for your camera the lens was always aimed in his direction and it never bothered him, because he figured that you were taking a photo of the scenery behind him so he never bothered to pose, smile, or anything of that sort
one day though it made him wonder whether his presence might disturb whatever images you’d taken so the next time you aimed your camera he turned his head, looking directly into the object’s circular lens, and just as he was about to say something the familiar sound of the shutter shut him up
“Perfect…that might be the best one yet” you silently praised and smiled to yourself
W-Wait a second…
“(Y/N)?”
“Hm?”
“What did you just photograph?”
you looked at him with slightly wide eyes, confusion spreading across your face as you answered: “Why of you of course”
and that’s when it clicked
all this time you’d taken pictures of what he thought to be the nature and scenery but in actuality, it was him you’d focused on
“W-Wait! You mean to t-tell me that I wasn’t in the way of your photos a-and that you actually photographed–“
before he could finish his sentence he realized something else that made him blush even harder
Perfect…Absolutely breathtaking…I’m so glad that I took my camera with me…The lighting and wind make you even prettier…What tranquility and gentleness, I’m in love…You’re so beautiful
all these comments that he’d brushed off, thinking that they were some kind of weird quirk of yours that resembled his captain’s whenever he talked about his samurai series, now made perfect sense
when the reality of the situation hit him he couldn’t help but bury his face in his hands and grunt at his stupidness, meanwhile, you tried to wrap your head around what Kagami had been believing up until today
looking at him being that frustrated with himself made you chuckle, but it also made you feel bad since you never directly told him so you decided that now might be the best time
with a gentle smile, you once again raised the camera to your face, waited until his figure became the focus and blurred the background, and gently pressed down the shutter
the sound made the young man beside you flinch and ever so hesitantly glance up to you with a dreading expression on his face
after pushing some of the buttons you cozy up to your boyfriend until your shoulders touched and showed him the image you had just taken with a proud smile
“I’m sorry for not telling you about it, but if I shared the fact that you’re my muse with you, you probably would’ve never allowed me to take any” you reasoned as you looked into his eyes and observed the way his cheeks reddened the moment you called him your muse
“I’m your muse…?”
you nodded and showed him a few other photos that all showed him do average everyday things such as eating something, chatting on his phone, warming up, etc. and even though they weren’t that special, the way you managed to capture him, his expression, and even some of the background made them all look professional
“Taiga, you’re such a nice guy that you would’ve probably offered to be my model if I had asked you to, but I wanted to capture that raw beauty of yours, the one that you display on every basketball match and that was the only way to do it…or at least that’s what I thought”
you paused before returning to the most recent image
“Having you being aware might be better after all…just look here at the way your eyes sparkle and your posture, both tense and relaxed at the same time gives off the impression of confidence and a tinge of uncertainty, both summing up your profound character that I love so much”
listening to your explanation made his heart beat harder against his chest and to stop you from fawning even more he covered your camera with his big hand and murmured: ”I-It’s fine already…I get it”
after seeing yet another unexpected expression on your boyfriend’s face you tried to get another shot of him, but this time he tried his best to avoid you and the two of you ended up chasing each other around the park, attracting the attention of many fellow visitors, but to you, it was as if only Kagami and you existed
Midorima:
Tumblr media
one afternoon during the end of basketball practice, you had joined your green-haired boyfriend with his supplementary exercises, observing him and the perfect way he shoots one three-pointer after the other
you’d asked him long ago whether it was alright with him to take his photo and despite the many protests he’d agreed under the condition that it happened during basketball practice
unfortunately, the way he played didn’t manage to ignite the spark you needed to snap that one photo you’ve always been hoping for, neither his skills nor his playstyle were to blame for that, there was just something missing that you couldn’t name
the way you sighed caught Midorima’s attention and made him stop mid-throw so that he could take a glance in your direction and when he saw the disappointed face you made it made his heart ache
“Is something the matter (Y/N)?” he suddenly asked as he sat beside you, towel in one hand and his drinking bottle in the other
you shook your head and tried to play it off, blaming your bad mood on one of your earlier classes and the complaisant boyfriend he was he let it go (also partially because he was afraid that if he prodded further you’d get mad)
out of the corner of your eyes, you could see how he took off his glasses and started cleaning them
and that’s when your heart throbbed
the way his long fingers carefully handled the fragile black frames, the skillful and cautious way he removed any speck of dust from the glass, mixed with the way some of his green hair’s strands stuck to his slightly sweaty forehead, and lastly his beautiful long eyelashes were what won you over
before you knew it, you had grabbed your camera and had taken a photo of his profile, the shutter’s sound startling both him and you
“D-Did you just take a ph–”
“Shush! Stay just like that!” you blurted out, your hand on his chest to restrict his movements and keep him in that exact pose he was right now
with a reluctant expression on his face, he avoided looking in your direction, hoping that you wouldn’t notice the light blush spreading across his cheeks, meanwhile you smiled to yourself at his futile attempt and once again snapped another picture…
.
thanks to that one coincidental photo you managed to take back then, you finally knew what you have been missing all this time, namely your boyfriend being himself and not the Midorima Shintaro from Shuutoku who never missed a shot
in order to achieve that “normality” you had to take as many sneaky shots as possible, but they unfortunately never stayed as secretive as you would’ve wanted them to be because he either caught you mid-photo or your own comments betrayed you
Just like that Shin, look more to the side!
Leave your glasses be, you’re even more beautiful without them!
Don’t touch your hair! The way it is right now compliments your face perfectly!
Even if you scowl at me, you still look good!
he’d always run up to you afterward, blushing at the entire situation and no matter how much he ended up protesting, scolding you, or trying to take the camera from you to delete the photos, he never truly was upset about it
the reason Midorima let it all slide was because he enjoyed the way you smiled when you looked at the images you’d taken
the way your eyes practically sparkled mixed with the slight flush of your cheeks made his heart race every single time
“Is something wrong Shin? You’ve been staring at my face for quite a while.”
embarrassed of being caught by you, he squeezed your nose and stuttered: “I-It’s nothing, k-keep looking at y-your photos!”
Murasakibara:
Tumblr media
taking Murasakibara’s pictures wasn’t an issue, you simply asked him and he agreed with no resistance whatsoever
you were over the moon at first and even made sure to have your camera with you at all times so that when an opportunity presented itself you’d be ready
from a pedestrian’s point of view, you looked like a cute touristic couple which consisted of the somewhat bored boyfriend, who agreed to have his photos taken for your happiness, and you, who couldn’t hold the excitement of being together with this young man back while happily snapping one pic after the other
their thoughts weren’t that off from the truth, you truly were delighted to be able to practice your hobby, and even having the tall young man as your model made it even better
thanks to the amount of muscles he’d gained from his daily basketball training, his height, his beautifully long and purple hair, his constantly relaxed expression, and his surprisingly gentle facial features, your boyfriend was already photogenic as is so any photo you took was downright breathtaking
and yet, those fulfilling feelings were rather short-lived
as time went by and you shot one photo after the other you came to realize that you hadn’t managed to take a single photo where he genuinely smiled or grinned
getting him to do either was nearly impossible, even for you
all you ever managed to summon was a very loving and gentle smile that resembled that of an angel; it was so pure that you could read all of his emotions from it, but that smile was reserved for your cuddle sessions that always ended up with him almost crushing you with his embrace and his low giggles as the result to your mixed reactions
“(Y/N)-chin, let’s go over there and sit down…I can’t walk anymore”
you giggled and took his hand that he’d extended to you, following him to a bench that was protected by a couple of trees, which cast down a perfect shadow on the wooden surface
the young man plopped down as if he’d ran for hours without a single break and wrapped his big arms around your waist, burying his face in your tummy
his childish behavior made you giggle and you softly caressed his head
“Didn’t you want to eat your snacks?” you asked after a short while, only to receive a silent growl as an answer
“Let me stay like this for a while…please”
his cute way of pleading with you only broadened your smile, which turned it into a grin as soon as an idea popped into your mind
with one hand still on his head, you used the other to aim the camera lens at the young man’s head as you asked your lover to look up at you
it took him a short while to comply because he kinda had the feeling that you wanted to ask for yet another photo, but he ultimately gave in and cast his purple eyes up to you
still smiling you glanced at the small screen on your camera in order to make sure that everything was perfect when you subconsciously blurted out: “Everything about you is charming Atsushi, the way the wind caresses your hair, perfectly accentuating your gentle face’s features…I’m so glad to have you as my muse”
your eyes went wide as you noticed the change in his expression
his cheeks had taken on an unexpected shade of deep red, one that you’ve never seen on him before; his eyes were a bit glassy and maybe equally as wide as yours, and his mouth was slightly agape
“Wha-! What are you saying (Y/N)-chin?!” he screamed out and once again hid his face before you could manage to snap a picture of this rare expression
“Atsushi, wait don’t hide! Let me take a photo!”
your protests fell on deaf ears and no matter how much you struggled or tried to loosen his grip around your waist, his strength made sure to make all of your attempts futile
“I-If I let you see me like that…I won’t be cool in your eyes anymore a-and I don’t want that” he finally admitted in a low voice
it took you a short while to comprehend what exactly he was trying to say; and when you did you couldn’t hold your laughter in any longer, ruffled his hair, and kissed the top of his head, waiting until he had regained his composure and returned your affectionate gestures
Akashi:
Tumblr media
having the famous Emperor as your lover was like a dream, but when it came to keeping things a secret you were at a clear disadvantage because this man read you like an open book
no matter how hard you tried to act innocent or clueless, he’d always be able to add two and two together and expose whatever you were hiding within a matter of minutes
same goes for your fondness of photography and the fact that you had your eyes set on him as your muse
one day when you visited his home the two of you were in the living room and he was playing a round of shogi against himself while you sorted your camera’s gallery
when you took a glance at the young man your heart throbbed
the soft light of the sun that managed to come forth between the many clouds of that day shone right at him; in order to block the light from disturbing his vision, he’d leaned his chin on his hand and let his fingers extend to the corner of his mesmerizing eyes; a soft smile adorned his lips as his left hand stretched out to move one of the many wooden pieces before him
you couldn’t help it and immediately proceeded to take a picture, successfully catching him off guard
“Did you take a picture of me?” he asked without shifting his line of sight from the board, a hint of amusement in his voice
“Mhm, I did…sorry” you apologized before sighing to yourself, “it’s just that you looked really beautiful and I thought it’d be a shame if I didn’t use the opportunity.”
being called beautiful was something he wasn’t used to, so as he heard that word pass your lips, he froze up and finally tore his attention away from the game, and now gazed at you with a warm smile
“You can take more if you’d like.”
“R-Really?”
and with that, he became your conspirator in your mission to take as many photos of him as your camera’s storage could handle
.
“Just like that Sei…look more to the lef- yes, perfect!”
you spat one command after the other as the young man before you held onto the reins of his gorgeous white horse and let his hand gently run along the animal’s head
after snapping a few more photos you looked at them in silence, an unusual scene for your boyfriend
“Is something the matter (Y/N)? Aren’t you satisfied with these?”
your head shot up and you violently shook your head, explaining that it was nothing and you were just lost in thought; even though he quickly realized that you weren’t telling the truth, he chose to keep silent until you were ready to tell him what truly bothered you
unexpectedly, your silence lasted longer than he’d hoped for and no matter how unique he tried to organize these little photo sessions you did, your mood never seemed to improve which frustrated him
when he saw you sitting on the couch all sad and unmotivated while you scrolled through your camera roll, he immediately turned around and went back outside to his garden to mull over ways in which he could help you out
so to distract himself, he picked up his basketball, started dribbling, and began perfecting his shooting
the sound of the ball hitting the wall caught your attention, causing you to get up and search for its source
when you opened the front door you were greeted by a similar sight as the one back when you’d first taken Akashi’s photo which made you smile
“Sei-chan, that’s what I was looking for” you whispered as you subconsciously took a photo of the exact moment where the young man jumped and gently threw the ball against the wall, simulating a layup shot
still unaware of your presence the young man wiped his sweat with his shirt’s collar and the moment he felt your arms wrap around his body he jumped ever so slightly
before he could ask you anything, let alone say something, you kissed his cheek and whispered: “I knew it…you’re always beautiful, but the moment you shine the brightest is when you’re being yourself”
moved by your words he turned around, returning your embrace and kissing your lips as he then proceeded to hide his blushing face and glassy eyes from you by pressing you closer to himself

E'LAST WonHyuk X Y/N , fluff slight angst
Enjoy~
From : Seungyeop ^~^
-goodluck on your quiz today! see you later for dinner~
you smiled at your childhood friend's message and replied him happily. even though Seungyeop was 4 years older than you, you have always felt like he was your bestfriend. in fact, you had more than bestfriend feelings for him.
you were too focused on your phone, you didn't notice the person in front of you and accidentally bumped into his back.
the two of you gasped in shock. you rubbed your forehead and looked up. the boy had turned around to look at you. you quickly bowed and apologised before rushing into the university.
Wonhyuk stayed frozen on his spot even after you went inside. he blinked, trying to process what had just happened. his whole face and neck turned red when he realised that he had just 'interacted' with you.
"Wonjun.... y/n just talked to me!"
Wonhyuk shook his friend's shoulders. Wonjun who was stuffing his cheeks with a butter bun almost choked.
"what? didn't y/n just apologised for bumping into you?". Wonhyuk ignored his remark and continued shaking his shoulders.
"this is a sign! a sign that i should stop crushing on y/n in secret and start trying to get closer!"
Wonjun swallowed his breakfast and gave a thumbs up. "i'll support you!". Wonhyuk ruffled Wonjun's hair excitedly and went to his first class.
you were revising for your morning quiz before class starts when a tall shadow loomed beside you. you looked up and saw a rather goodlooking boy smiling at you. you scooted to the side a bit to give him more space.
"you don't remember me?" the boy suddenly asked in a soft voice. you raised an eyebrow, kind of annoyed that your revision time was interrupted.
"i'm the person you just bumped into earlier."
you bowed your head again. "i'm sorry again, uhh?"
"Wonhyuk!"
"i'm sorry again, Wonhyuk."
you gave him a small sorry smile and turned back to your book. you didn't know a person could be so petty and hold a grudge against you for bumping into him. he wasn't even hurt.
Wonhyuk sat beside you and took out his books. you glanced him from your side-eye. "you take this class too?" you couldn't help but ask.
Wonhyuk smiled and nodded like a cute puppy. "i see, goodluck for the quiz!". Wonhyuk thanked you and started reading his book.
in actual fact, he buried his face inside his book because he didn't want you to see his red face after talking to you. he was extremely happy when you called his name.
he covered his mouth from smiling too widely and tried his best to school his expression and focus on his revision.
after the first class, you had some time before your next one. as usual, you went to the cafeteria to get some early lunch. you bought a hamburger with french fries as the side and sat at an empty table.
you had friends in the university but they either have classes during this timing, or they are just getting ready for their first class in the afternoon.
you took a picture of your meal, wanting to send it to Seungyeop. a familiar looking boy suddenly stopped beside your table.
"can i sit here with you?" Wonhyuk asked as he carried a bowl of hot noodle soup. you were a bit surprised but nodded anyways.
Wonhyuk thanked you and placed his bowl before blowing on his fingers which were almost scalded from the hot bowl.
you put your phone aside and slowly unwrapped your burger as you scanned Wonhyuk's expression. he really looked like a puppy trying to stay calm.
you misunderstood him. you bit your lips and collected your courage to ask him.
"uhmm, are you perhaps still angry at me for bumping into you earlier?".
Wonhyuk who was happily eating his noodles looked up at you. he quickly bit the long noodles so that he wouldn't choke on it.
"hmm? nope. it was just a soft bump, no worries!"
you frowned and searched for any signs of lying but he was indeed being sincere with his words.
"then why are you suddenly... always where i am?"
Wonhyuk blinked at you question and scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"i wanted to be your friend." you were surprised at his reply.
"why?" you saw Wonhyuk's shoulders slumped down sadly. "i.... can't?".
if he was a puppy, his ears would be drooped. his little pout poked your heart.
"of course you can! here we are friends already!". you said and pushed your french fries closer to him.
when Wonhyuk smiled again, you sighed in relief and bit on your burger. you hummed in delight at the savoury taste.
Wonhyuk chuckled when he saw your face.
"you got some sauce here." he said as he passed a napkin to you. you laughed and took the napkin before thanking him.
"this is the right way to eat delicious food!" you said and took another big bite of your burger before wiping the smeared sauce again.
Wonhyuk refrained himself from squealing. he found you really cute. he really has a big big crush on you.
you quickly rushed out of your class, excited to meet Seungyeop for your planned dinner. the restaurant was near your university so you could walk there and reach in about 10 minutes.
when you arrived, Seungyeop was already in front of the restaurant, waiting for you patiently. you smiled at his handsome presence and quickly approached him.
"Seungyeop Oppa!"
Seungyeop looked up at the direction of your voice and flashed a cute smile.
"have you been waiting long?" you asked as the two of you sat on a table by the window.
"nope, i just arrived too. i was actually worried i would be late." Seungyeop replied and passed you the menu.
"order whatever you want, it's my treat!" you raised an eyebrow and chuckled before ordering anyway.
Seungyeop's eye widened when you ordered more than usual.
"you didn't have lunch?".
you pursed your lips and frowned. "i did, didn't i send you the picture of my meal just now?".
"hmm? did you? i don't think i received it.".
you checked your phone and saw that the picture did not send. you finally remembered that you were interrupted by Wonhyuk earlier. you facepalmed mentally.
"i ordered a lot because it looks to me like you have not been eating well."
Seungyeop blinked and rubbed his nape embarrassedly.
"you caught me. i'm just in the middle of a new project, so i don't really have time to eat lunch properly. but don't worry, i still eat. you know the cafe opposite of my workplace? the owner is kind and would always give me extra pastries."
you sighed and shook your head. "i really don't want to nag you, but you should have proper meals to have energy to do your work, right?". Seungyeop was saved when the waiter came with your food.
"let's eat!"
Seungyeop changed the topic and asked about your school life. you told him things were as usual, but you made a new friend. he was glad to know that another extrovert kid adopted the introverted you. you rolled your eyes at his statement and pouted.
"hey, i'm not that little girl who can't speak up anymore, okay. i just don't feel like talking when it's unnecessary."
Seungyeop laughed out loud and stretched his arm to pat your head.
"you are always my little girl!" your face warmed up when he said that but you were a bit upset. he still considered you as a little sister. you hmped and ate your food quietly.
it's been almost 2 weeks since you got closer with Wonhyuk. he started sitting next to you whenever you had the same classes. sometimes his bestfriend, Wonjun, would join too. he was a cute friend. you would always poke his cheek when he spaced out.
Wonhyuk would laugh when Wonjun looked at you in a daze after you poked him and pull him into a bear hug.
"i know, he is just so cute, right?". you nodded at Wonhyuk's words.
Wonjun playfully pushed Wonhyuk's arms and pouted. "hey Hyuk, i'm not only cute, okay?" Wonhyuk chuckled and pinched Wonjun's cheek. Wonjun looked at you, asking for help. but you pinched his other cheek instead. "tofu.."
"ah right, y/n! how did you do for the biweekly quiz? i bombed it.." indeed you almost scored fullmarks. Wonhyuk was amazed and begged you to tutor him.
"please please, i can't fail this module. i don't want to repeat such a dry subject!!"
you had to refrain a laugh at his words. you agreed to help him, you couldn't reject him even if you want to. he had been a good friend to you, so you wanted to help him.
the weekend you planned to tutor Wonhyuk finally came. you didn't really think of what to wear and dressed as usual.
Wonhyuk on the other hand wrecked his closet. he ended up wearing a beige shirt with a pair of white pants. he looked pure and clean, presentable for his first 'date' with you.
Wonhyuk jogged to you when he saw you in front of the place you set. "ah thank you for waiting for me!".
you glanced up at the familiar voice and unconciously took in his whole look. you raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. "you look good today, going somewhere after this?"
Wonhyuk's voice got stuck into his throat at your sudden compliment. he felt his ears warm up.
"uhh i uhh i, thank you, i'm just meeting you today". you didnt ask further and went to an empty table.
the both of you ordered some food to accompany your tutoring session. you started with going through the topics that were tested in the previous quiz.
after Wonhyuk understood the questions he did wrong, the two of you revised the newer topics that were going to be tested next together.
"wahh i feel so productive today. and i think i understand better after you explained! you are my life savior, y/n!!"
you chuckled and patted his head lightly, not wanting to ruin is cutely curled hair. "you can always ask me if you have any difficulties!".
Wonhyuk's body turned stiff at the contact. his eyes widened, not blinking even once. he gulped and finally snapped out of his daze when you started packing up your things.
"are you going somewhere else?" Wonhyuk asked sadly. you zipped your bag close and turned to him.
"hmm? nope, i was actually planning to walk around the town for a bit. if you don't have anything after this, do you want to join me? i actually get lost easily hahaha".
Wonhyuk's eyes brightened at your invite and quickly nodded. "i never get lost, you can rely on me!!".
you didn't have anything to buy in mind, you just liked window shopping. you walked side by side with Wonhyuk and had small conversations in between. it was mostly Wonhyuk who asked questions or commented on the things around you. it was very lively hanging out with Wonhyuk like this.
"do you have anything that you like ? i wanna repay you for helping me study."
you chuckled and shook your head. "didn't you pay for the food just now? and i help you not to get something back, it's just me helping my friend out."
Wonhyuk ignored your words as he scanned the area. "ah do you like plushies?". you nodded. Wonhyuk smiled and naturally grabbed your wrist and pulled you to a claw machine.
"which one do you want?". you scanned the plushies and a cute orange fox one caught your attention. "that one!".
Wonhyuk inserted a coin and the background music grew louder, attracting some passer-bys. he stuck his tongue out as he focused on winning you the fox.
he was skillful and lucky, Wonhyuk passed you the fox plushie with only 1 try. "woww you make it look so easy!". Wonhyuk patted his own shoulder and winked playfully. his gaze went behind you for a second before he inserted another coin.
"you are getting one for you too?". Wonhyuk only hummed in response. this time he won a pink rabbit. Wonhyuk then walked past you and squatted in front of a little girl.
apparently the girl had been staring at the plushies since earlier with a sad face. "hey little miss, i won an extra plushie. it's for you." the little girl was maybe about 5 years old. her eyes sparkled as she looked at the plushie.
"can i really have it?" she asked carefully. Wonhyuk nodded and shook the rabbit plushie. "if you are unsure, you can go ask your parents first!"
the little girl thought for a while and went into the convenience store nearby, bringing her dad to the both of you. the girl's dad thanked Wonhyuk and accepted the gift. he wanted his daughter to be happy.
he offered to pay for the plushie but Wonhyuk rejected, saying it was really a gift for the girl. the father and daughter thanked him again before leaving.
"oh! you are really a good older brother huhh!" you teased Wonhyuk and gently carressed the back of his head as if you were consoling a little kid even though he was way taller than you.
Wonhyuk gulped and grabbed your wrist. "please stop.. or else i won't be able to control myself". you blinked in confusion at Wonhyuk's sudden serious expression.
"ah??"
Wonhyuk quickly let your hand go and gave you his usual smile as he sighed in his heart. "nothing, i just didn't want you to ruin my hair". you chuckled.
"ahh i thought you were angry at me for teasing you. i'm sorry. you were just so charming being good with kids." Wonhyuk once again felt his whole body warm up at your words.
*please... i am so weak for your compliments*
you were happily texting Seungyeop when Wonhyuk suddenly ran to you with a huge smile.
"y/n! y/n! i did wayy better for this quiz thanks to you!!" he exclaimed and almost pounced on you like a big puppy. you put your phone aside and clapped your hands as you congratulated him. "i just helped a bit, you were the one who did a very good job!".
Wonhyuk grinned and tapped his chin. "can we go eat together later? to celebrate my improvement!"
you checked your schedule and you had free time. you agreed to Wonhyuk's request and planned to meet each other in front of the school entrance after your last class.
even though the two of you were celebrating Wonhyuk's achievement, you ate alot more than him. you were starving because your class ended late.
you were enjoying your food when you felt Wonhyuk's gaze on you. you looked up in confusion and saw Wonhyuk propping his chin on his palm as he looked at you with a soft smile on his handsome face.
"w--why aren't you eating too?" you stammered as you felt your face grew warm at the affectionate gaze.
Wonhyuk sat up straight and pursed his lips as he thought of his decision.
"i like you, y/n. can i be your boyfriend?".
you blinked. once. twice. you almost choked on your food and coughed loudly. Wonhyuk quickly passed you a glass of water. he sighed in relief when you had calmed down.
"i... i'm sorry Wonhyuk." Wonhyuk bit his lips and gulped down his disappointment.
"is it because i'm too loud? or i'm too tall? or i'm annoying? or because i am a year younger than you?"
before he could continue, you frowned and held a hand up to stop him. "you're younger than me??".
it was Wonhyuk's turn to be confused.
"huh? don't tell me you didn't know i'm a first year?".
you shook your head. "i know you are not a 2nd year, i thought  you were my age and just entered late. you speak so casually to me, so i assumed we were the same age."
Wonhyuk massaged his temples. "i thought you knew my age and was okay with me being casual. let me ask you something, do you remember when was the first time we met each other?".
"when we bumped into each other?".
Wonhyuk sighed. he knew it. you really didn't remember him.
the first time the two of you met each other was during Wonhyuk's university orientation. you were the senior assigned to be his group's facilitator. well he didn't blame you for not remembering him specifically because there were around 10 other juniors too.
Wonhyuk fell for you at first sight. it started as a cute crush, but as he got closer to you, he began having deeper feelings.
you finally remembered about the orientation. the original facilitator was down with fever so your friend begged (dragged) you to be the substitute. you were sure you wouldn't forget such a cute and handsome boy, but again, you liked Seungyeop so you weren't really interested in other boys.
"i'm sorry, Hyuk. it's not because of you. it's just that i already have someone that i like."
Wonhyuk licked his lips and bit them after hearing your reason. he would rather have you reject him because of his shortcomings, that way he could at least change himself. but your heart already had someone else.
"can't you, create a small space for me too?". Wonhyuk asked softly with a sad smile.
you didn't know how to respond so you just kept your head down and poked on your food. Wonhyuk sighed and chuckled.
"alright, i get you. so let's forget what i just said and enjoy our food!".
he was smiling widely but you knew he was hurting. you knew that feeling well. very well. you didn't want to hurt him further so you really acted like nothing happened.
the next few days, Wonhyuk treated you as usual. nothing felt awkward at all. you even wondered if what happened the other day was just a dream you had.
if it was not for Wonhyuk always dragging Wonjun along, you would really think that the confession didn't happen. Wonhyuk would avoid being with you alone. maybe that way, he could hide his pain better.
the three of you were doing your assignments together at the study corner. Wonhyuk almost dozed off and decided to buy some drinks to keep him awake. after asking you and Wonjun your drink choices, he left the two of you together.
"ah cutie Wonjun likes chocolate milk?" you teased and poked his arm. Wonjun's frowned and clapped his hands firmly as if asking students to pay attention.
"y/n, listen. i know i'm cute, but that doesn't mean i like being cute". you looked at him with a sad pout. "sorry for making you annoyed."
Wonjun panicked and quickly waved his hands. "no no, oh gosh no i wasn't annoyed. uhmm ok ok you can call me a cutie!".
you blinked at his reaction and chuckled before nodding your head. *i'm dead if i make y/n feel bad.* Wonjun thought as his gaze turned towards Wonhyuk who already came back from his 'errand'.
Wonhyuk raised an eyebrow when he saw your smile for Wonjun. it was actually a sisterly smile but Wonhyuk had never seen that expression on your face when you were with him, so he felt a bit jealous.
he placed the drinks on the table abit too hard, startling you and Wonjun. he gave a smile that wasn't a smile and chugged on his bottle of cold drink. Wonhyuk calmed his heart down but he had a sudden 'realisation'.
he poked your arm and directed you to come closer to him. you felt your scalp tingle when Wonhyuk leaned close to your ear to whisper. his warm breath against your skin made your whole body warm too.
"y/n, is the person you like Wonjun?". you blinked in confusion. "huh??". Wonhyuk leaned away and sighed in relief. he chuckled at your reaction. "i guess not."
you read the message Seungyeop sent. he wanted to meet up with you at the cafe opposite of his workplace. you've been to his workplace once, but you still had a hard time going there. your lack of sense of direction was really not helping.
you opened the map of your phone and tried to navigate your way there. halfway through, you stopped on your tracks and scratched your head in confusion. you've been walking for almost 20 minutes but you have not reached yet. perhaps you walked the wrong way?
you were thinking of what to do when a hand gently patted your shoulder.
"i uhm saw you being lost, where are you going?" you were instantly relieved when you heard Wonhyuk's soft voice.
"i'm going to X cafe but i don't know if i'm going the right way". Wonhyuk who initially had an earpiece in his ear while the other was dangling against his chest took out both and kept it in his pocket.
"ah you are lucky today! i'm going there too, for my part-time job. and don't worry, you were in the right direction". your eyes brightened at his words.
you walked beside Wonhyuk quietly. he also didn't talk much, he was really just leading you to the cafe. when the two of you arrived, Wonhyuk opened the door for you before following behind.
"oh Seungyeop hyung!" "Seungyeop oppa!"
you and Wonhyuk paused as you looked at each other. "yo--you know Seungyeop oppa?". Wonhyuk grinned and nodded happily.
"Seungyeop hyung is a regular here! whenever he finished work early, he would come here and wait for Yubi noona and walk her home! oh right, Yubi noona, why are you sitting here?"
there was a beautiful petite lady sitting next to Seungyeop. you sat opposite of Seungyeop while Wonhyuk remained standing beside you.
Seungyeop gave a small smile as he reached out for Yubi's hand and interwined their fingers.
"the reason i wanted to meet you today is to introduce you to my girlfriend. we've known each other for almost a year now, and i want you, my little sister, to be the first one to know about our relationship!"
you felt your heart drop to your stomach. you gulped and gulped until your mouth turned dry. huh? what is happening? why is this so.. sudden?
"so, she is the kind cafe owner?" Seungyeop nodded shyly and tightened his grip around Yubi's hand. you slowly nodded and forced a smile.
"ahh congrats on your relationship" you managed to say in a calm tone. Seungyeop and Yubi thanked you.
Wonhyuk was also happy for his boss. "congratulations!! i hope your love last forever! y/n, next time when you meet Seungyeop hyung, you can hang out here!"
you didn't hear a single thing he said. your mind was still blank. Wonhyuk noticed your shaking fists under the table. his eyes widened and looked at your face.
even though you were smiling, the corner of your lips were slightly trembling. Wonhyuk finally understood. he slapped his mouth mentally and thought of a way to help you out.
Wonhyuk acted like he just received a message from someone.
"oh no noona, i don't think i can't work today. my professor just texted, he wants to meet me and y/n for our project now!!".
"now? it's late and the two of you haven't eaten anything yet." Seungyeop frowned slightly in confusion.
Wonhyuk only gave a sorry smile and tapped your shoulders softly. "let's go, y/n!"
you were in a daze when you followed Wonhyuk out.
"they kind of look good together." Yubi whispered at Seungyeop. Seungyeop chuckled and looked at your backs. he was a bit sad if his little sister were to have a boyfriend already.
you walked behind Wonhyuk silently. he didn't ask you any questions and let you sort out your thoughts. after a few minutes, the two of you reached a nearby park. Wonhyuk led you to a bench.
"you rejected me because you like Seungyeop hyung?" he finally asked. you chuckled, mocking yourself.
"i knew it was impossible. he treats me as his little sister. but i had a bit of hope. but that hope is gone." it hurt Wonhyuk seeing you heartbroken like this. he sat beside you and pursed his lips.
"you don't have to hold back your feelings". your heart clenched so hard when he said that. one tear. two tears. tears kept flowing down your cheeks non-stop.
you covered your face with your palms to muffle your sobs. your whole body shook hard. Wonhyuk really wanted to cry when he heard your cries, but if he also cried, then there will be no one to comfort you.
he hesitated before pulling you into his chest. he carressed your back gently. "it's okay. just let it all out." you sniffed and took a deep breath before pulling yourself away slowly.
"i rejected you when you confessed to me. why are you still so kind to me?". Wonhyuk looked at your tear-stained face. the corners of your eyes were red from crying. he smiled and took out his handkerchief before wiping your face.
"i like you." Wonhyuk only said these 3 words.
you took the handkerchief from him and wiped your own face. "i'm sorry for hurting your feelings, Hyuk."
"why don't you be my girlfriend, then?".
you blinked and stared at him. you frowned and shook your head. "i don't want you to be a rebound. you deserve better than me." Wonhyuk carefully reached for your hand and held it tightly.
"you are the best. there is no one better for me. i like you. it's fine if i start as your rebound guy. i can always make you fall for me when we are together".
you sighed and looked up at Wonhyuk.
"will you give me more time?"
Wonhyuk smiled and nodded. "i will always be waiting for you". "thank you"
"wait so, you are guys are together now?"
Wonjun asked Wonhyuk with wide eyes. Wonhyuk hushed his bestfriend and looked around them.
"i said almost!" Wonjun whistled.
"that's just as good as already!".
Wonhyuk slumped in his seat. "do you really think y/n will accept me ?".
Wonjun raised an eyebrow. "why not? you are amazing!"
Wonhyuk chuckled and patted his friend's back. "thanks bro".
Wonjun quickly nudged Wonhyuk to sit up. Wonhyuk was confused but soon understood when he saw you walking towards their table.
"Hyuk, can i speak to you alone?". Wonjun quickly stood up and pulled you to sit on his own seat.
"take your time~" he teased and walked away.
Wonhyuk chuckled at Wonjun before focusing on you. you were still embarrassed at his affectionate gaze and looked away for a second.
you took a deep breath before facing Wonhyuk again. "i think i am ready to uhm try out being in a relationship with you."
Wonhyuk's smile widened at your words. "really?" you nodded shyly as you looked down. "but i'm not sure if things will go smoothly.."
Wonhyuk hummed and shook his head. "it's fine, i'm here. i never get lost so i could always lead you. don't worry". you smiled and thanked him again.
"i will try my best to have the same feelings as you."
Wonhyuk took your hands into his and carressed them with his thumb. "thank you."
.
.
"happy graduation, my love!" Wonhyuk congratulated you and enveloped you into a bear hug. you giggled against his chest and hugged him back.
"yup, you look good together~" Yubi chirped from the side. Seungyeop stood with her with a small pout.
you pulled away from Wonhyuk and accepted flowers from Yubi. "we do, we do!" Wonhyuk replied.
he grabbed your shoulders and pulled you away from the crowd. "we are going to excuse ourselves for a while, meet us at the entrance!"
you were confused but followed Wonhyuk anyways. he took the two of you to somewhere with lesser people. he took your flowers and set them down before hugging you again.
"i wanted to hold you longer. let's stay like this for a while" he carressed your head lovingly as you wrapped your arms around him.
"i'm going to catch up to you and graduate next year." you chuckled and patted his back.
"Hyuk, thank you for being my pillar these past few years. without you, i'd sure be in a slump all by myself after my first heartbreak. i really really like you so much".
Wonhyuk pulled away to look at your face. he smiled and pecked your forehead.
"i knew i could charm you".
you laughed at his words and rolled your eyes.
"yes, indeed you are very charming".
Wonhyuk chuckled and nuzzled his face against your neck like a puppy.
"i like you very very much too, y/n".

The end has arrived, let the darkness take over you
Frank Castle x Male Reader
Request - Okay good i wanna request for a male reader being punisher's sidekick his backstory is that he came from a poor family single mother 2 siblings and a deadbeat dad he wanted to become a doctor to make money for his family and then family got killed during a crossfire between 2 gangs while going shopping so now he wants revenge he gets a knife buys a gun and starts tracking them down and along the way he comes across frank who's badly injured and unconscious so he drags him away to somewhere safe
Tumblr media
All your life you grew up poor. Your mother did everything to have food for you and your two siblings, she worked odd jobs to make sure she can buy clothes and food for everyone. There were moments, that everyone went to bed without eating anything. But your father is a piece of shit, he used to abuse you, mom, and your siblings verbally and physically. You started to fight back. You threw his stuff out then changed the locks. He hasn't come back around for a long time and you want to keep it like that.
You want to be a doctor to help people and provide for your family. Your mom would take you and your siblings to the library, you would start to read medical books old and modern. She knows you want to be a doctor, she wants to help you achieve your dream.
Later, your mother takes you and your sibling's shopping, to buy clothes.
”Y/N, here you can finish reading it at home,” Your mom said.
She gave you the medical book, the library doesn't allow people to check out.
”Mom, you stole it?” You smiled.
”Shh, it's our secret. I know you will be a good doctor and we will always support you. It will be hard but you are strong men and you will make it” She said.
You hugged your mom and she kissed your head. Your siblings hugged you too and you hugged them back.
While walking with them to the store, suddenly there is a shoot out between two gangs on the streets. Bullets start to fly everywhere, people start to run for cover.
You get hit in your arm with a stray bullet, you fall down and hit your head and you passed out.
-At the hospital--
You wake up and your arm is in pain. The IV is in your arm and you look around, the cop walked in.
”Where is my family? My mom-”
”I’m sorry. But you will have to identify your family at the morgue” She said.
Tears start to form and you are stunned.
”W-what happened,” You said.
”There was a shootout between two gang rivals, six people died now we are trying to identify them,” She said.
Your heart starts to race, that's the only thing you can hear is your heart. Later, they take you to the morgue and you see your family. You broke down and start to cry, you kneed down and kept crying.
----
What happened between the two gangs and six people died, the news kept talking about it non-stop. But the cops are taking too long to arrest anyone.
You want revenge, you collected newspapers, booked marked social media talking about the crime, and Google the videos of the crime. You go back to the crime scene during late hours. You searched for clues. You know about the two gangs and no one got arrested, that made you angry. You want to take the law into your own hand and do something about it.
-The next night-
You want to buy a gun and a knife. You know where you go and you bought the items, without any trouble. You start to stalk the first gang The blue reapers, you look at them, and you are filled with rage. Now, you start to think about how you will lure them and kill them.
You really don't have a plan. You are just going in there with a gun and knife against a gang. You are standing across the street watching them. Before you left, you heard a huge sound towards the dumpster. You walked towards the dumpster and you see a guy badly beaten up. He is conscious, you did try to wake up him but it didn't work, you tried to pick him up. You take him back to your place and you start to clean his wounds.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✫
-Next Day-
Frank wakes up and his body is feeling sore. He did struggle to get out of bed, he walked out of the room and he sees you.
”Who are you?” Frank asked.
”I found you unconscious in the alley. I took you here, to stitch you up and you don't need major surgery. My name is Y/N” You said.
”Thank you,” Frank said.
”Don’t worry your gear is fine. It's in the living room... I know who you are” You said.
”You know who I am?” Frank asked.
You nod.
”Help me. Train me, I need to get revenge for those who killed my family. Please train me-”
”I won't train you,” Frank said.
”Why not? I want those two gangs to fall apart. If we don't stop them they will kill winning and kill more people” You said.
”You don't want this lifestyle. The answer is no” Frank said.
”Just give me a chance. I saw you do it before you fight them then kill-”
”I said no!” Frank yelled.
Frank puts back on his gear and left. You sighed and start to think about what to do.
---
A couple of days has passed by, Frank hasbeen thinking about what you said. Frank started to keep an eye on you, but you didn't notice him following you. Later, you found out the first gang’s hideout. You are being reckless, you only have one gun, and there are more than ten people inside the bar.
Frank can see what you are doing. He sighed and called you a dumbass in his mind. Frank moved rapidly, grabbed you by your hoodie, and slammed you hard against the brick wall in the alley.
”What the fuck is wrong with you!?!” Frank growled.
He doesn't let go of you.
”I want them to pay!” You yelled.
”With one gun!? Once you pull out your gun the next you have a bullet in your fucking skull!” Frank growled again.
You and Frank glared at each other.
”Help me stop them. You have the skills and you can be my mentor” You said.
”Go home, before I break your kneecap,” Frank said cold.
He let's go of you and you really want him to train you.
”I work alone,” Frank said.
Frank made sure you walked away. You did go home but the landlord kicked you out because you haven't paid your rent in months. You grabbed your clothes and a family picture and left. You didn't want to go to the homeless shelter so you slept in the park.
---
Frank knows what you're going through and he changed his mind. It wasn't hard for Frank to find you. He did take you to his small apartment which you're grateful. You do sleep on the floor on air a mattress.
Every day Frank showed you how to properly clean a gun, take it apart then put it back together and how to hold a gun. Next Frank would teach you how to pickpocket and it's not easy for you. Because you have to be silent like the wind but you keep messing up. But Frank starts to teach you how to fight but he is not a nice mentor. He hits you hard and he doesn't take it easy.
”Do you think they will go easy on you? Remember, on their mind, they want to kill you either you kill them first or they will kill you” Frank said.
”I won't forget that” You said.
Frank starts to punch you and you start to block his blows. You punched him in the jaw, he almost fell and he is bleeding.
”Not bad, Y/N. Let's keep going” Frank said.
You couldn't help to smirk.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✫
Weeks went by you have been killing gang members one by one from both sides. Frank does go along with you for backup, you didn't feel bad for killing them. They killed your family and they must pay. You finished killing two people on your own, you are covered in blood.
”Sloppy but remember don't leave any evidence that belongs to you on the crime scene. Let's go” Frank said.
You and Frank leave the dive bar. Across the street, there are security cameras and it caught you leaving the bar bloody.
--
The cops found out that you and Frank have been killing gang members. They want to arrest you and Frank, but they can't find your location. Frank has taught you how to live off the grid.
--
You are ready to kill them. You and Frank did set up a trap to have both gangs in one place at the warehouse. They want revenge because you killed their friends.
”Who the fuck are you?” He asked.
”You don't care about my name. But I’m here to kill all of you” You said.
They just laughed at you and you are glaring at them. You take out your gun and shot one of the guys in the head. His body dropped now everyone stopped laughing.
”You fucking asshole!” He yelled.
Everyone took out their guns but Frank is on the rail, he is using his sniper rifle. Now everyone is starting to shoot, you run and hide behind a shipping crate. You hid your weapon and you take out the Submachine gun.
You come out and you start to kill them. You were going to load but the guy hit you and you dropped the gun. You take out the brass knuckles and put it on. Now you start to fight and you punch him in the face. He killed your family, you got on top of him and you snapped. All the rage you locked inside came out, he is bleeding out fast but you broke his face.
You grabbed your gun and the bullets, you loaded your gun. You start to shoot and more bodies start to drop. Frank run towards you
” Let's go now,” Frank said.
You followed him outside and locked the doors. You and Frank blocked every exit earlier and left bombs inside. You and Frank get away from the warehouse, he gave you the remote.
”When you are ready,” Frank said.
You didn't say anything and you pressed the button. You and Frank watched the warehouse explode.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✫
You and Frank go to a small diner to eat. You did burn your clothes because it had blood and put on different clothes. You and Frank don't say anything and just kept eating.
”What is your next move, Y/N,” Frank said.
He takes a huge bite from his burger.
”I have nothing else left for me here. We are wanted so I thought maybe I can tag along” You said.
He starts to think and he drinks his soda and you started to eat again.
”Okay, you can come with me to Canada. I have a friend who can help us” Frank said.
You nod.
--
You met Logan, he has been friends with Frank for years. They trust each other now you're friends with Logan. You told him what happened to your family and he understands the pain and he didn't judge you. Logan told you and Frank that the cops is after you two. But you didn't care, now you want to figure out what you will do with your life.

mixtape - track eleven
Tumblr media
| masterlist | faceclaims | playlist |
I was hiding from myself too. I was hiding from the part of my brain that was like ‘what are you gonna do now?’. Like, there’s a part of your brain that does thrive off of feeling like shit.
The voice shifted, just for a moment.
Yea-
It was a tiny sound in the back, from behind the camera. It didn’t even form a full word before Ethan continued talking, but Indy flinched anyway. It was always worse when she was unprepared for it.
In her distraction, she’d streaked her concealer too far past her eye and sighed, using her finger to pat it in, ignoring the way it splotched. It probably wasn’t the right shade, and it was definitely expired, but it was enough for her to look like maybe she had slept in the last two weeks.
She hadn’t. Not really. Every time she closed her eyes, even to blink, he was there. Sometimes, she welcomed it. But in that moment, standing in her mirror in her scrubs, she didn’t want to see his face. She didn’t want to hear his voice. Because she had to keep it together for 16 hours. 12 hours at the hospital on the peds floor, and another 4 at her shift at Jet’s afterward. So she kept her eyes open, took a deep breath, and walked out of her bathroom.
On the other side of the country, Grayson’s eyes were closed.
He wasn’t sleeping. It was 4 in the afternoon, which was the earliest time he could consider himself done with work for the day and escape to his bedroom, closing the door behind him. It only got down to the high forties in LA, even in January, but he climbed under his comforter anyways, pulled his baby blanket up by his face.
Time seemed to crawl by while he lay there alone. He rolled to his side, pulling his pillow down to wrap his arms around it, and when he opened his eyes, he wished he hadn’t. On his nightstand, turned towards him, was the frame that Indy had gotten him for Christmas. He wished she hadn’t curled up so much when he’d taken it. He wished he could see her face more in the glossy material, wished she had given him a picture of just her instead. When he squeezed his eyes shut again he could see her face better, every feature committed to memory. So he looked. He focused on the different shades of blue in her eyes and pretended like she was in class, and that he was on her couch waiting for her to come home.
A knock sounded on his door, and his heart tightened.
Ethan stepped in the room with a bag of Monty’s and a hopeful smile.
Grayson didn’t move.
“I brought you dinner.”
Nothing.
Ethan sighed, dropping the act. He was giving up on it earlier and earlier these days.
“Bro, you’ve gotta eat. You didn’t eat lunch.”
“Not hungry.”
“Bullshit.”
“I’m not.”
“Well, tough shit then, cause I’m not leaving you alone until you eat at least some of this.”
Grayson knew his brother, better than he knew himself sometimes, and he could tell by his tone that he was serious. He didn’t have the energy for a fight, and despite himself, his stomach growled at the smell of the fries in the bag, salty and warm. So he sat up begrudgingly and let Ethan pass him the bag, pretending not to see how his shoulders slumped in relief.
He didn’t have to ask why Ethan stayed. It was to make sure he didn’t sit the bag down as soon as he closed the door behind him. So he waited, and he watched his brother eat his burger slower than usual, fighting to chew it and force it down.
“Where’s yours?” He asked eventually - he knew better than to think that Ethan hadn’t gotten himself a burger.
“I uh… I ate with Eden.”
Grayson stopped chewing. His question was blatant in his eyes, and he waited for the answer.
“No, I didn’t fucking tell her,” Ethan grumbled, running his hand over his face. “But I don’t know how much longer I can do this, I feel like I’m fucking lying to her.”
“Did she ask about… her?” He caught himself. He hadn’t said her name since they left New York.
“Not yet. She knows something is up with you though, and if she starts asking questions I’m telling her.”
“No.” It wasn’t a plea. It was a demand.
“Grayson. She’s gonna find out eventually, I gotta tell her.”
“No. Twin code.”
“Don’t pull that shit man, c’mon, we aren’t six anymore. That’s my wife, and she’s gonna be pissed as fuck at me. If you don’t tell her, I’m gonna have to.”
Grayson stayed quiet and put the rest of his burger back in the bag, his small appetite fading to nausea at the thought of having to admit to anyone else what he had done. He hadn’t had to explain it yet - Ethan knew enough to put the pieces together, and he had enough heart to stay quiet on the plane, just passing over his napkin from his drink as an extra tissue while Grayson looked out the window and cried quietly. But he wasn’t going to tell Eden - he wasn’t ready for that.
Ethan sighed. “I’m just saying Gray, she’s gonna start asking me questions, and I’m not gonna lie to her, that’s not me. That’s not either of us.” He paused, hoping for a response he knew he wasn’t going to get. “Whatever. We have a meeting at 10 tomorrow.”
Ethan left the room in silence, and Grayson closed his eyes.
Indy’s struggled to keep hers open. It was almost 4 am the worst hours of her shift. She poured another cup of coffee from the nurses’ lounge, ignoring the fact that it was burnt as she sipped it down and willed herself to wake up. Part of her wished it was iced - warm drinks made her sleepy, and worse, reminded her of cold New Jersey mornings that she couldn’t afford to think of. Just the idea of reminiscing made her chest tighten enough for her to suck in a breath and start to search for a distraction. She read the schedule instead, checking to see what tech would replace her come 7 am. She still had two vital checks to do on each patient, opting to do them on the even hours. Her head tipped back as she drained the rest of her cup and tossed it in the trash, needing to keep her mind busy.
It wasn’t her job - only nurses could distribute meds, but she could prep the trays for the kids to make their lives easier. So she moved to the med cart and started to look through.
“Adams, Adrian, Bellon, Campbell, Cortez, Jenkins, Kimp, Lopez, Mullins, Norton.” Her fingers stopped for a moment as she traced down the last names on the cart, mumbling them out. No Newcomb. She double-checked. Nothing.
Bekah didn’t have a tray.
Indy’s heart sped up a bit, and she waited until she saw Ayria, one of the night shift nurses, coming out of a room.
“Hey, do you need me to get Newcomb a tray? Hers isn’t on here.” It felt weird to refer to Bekah by her last name, but she didn’t want to seem unprofessional.
Ayria frowned, coming to log into the computer on the med cart and check the charts.
“Oh yeah, everything she’s getting is IV right now, no pills.”
Indy took a breath and steadied herself, glad to see that the clock had turned and she was able to make her rounds. She’d become an expert at taking vitals without waking the kids up - even some of the more seasoned nurses were impressed.
But she could never get past Beks.
The first day, during Indy’s orientation, Bekah could tell something was wrong. It was only three days after Grayson had left after all. Indiana knew that the floor needed a tech, and she knew they’d take her as soon as she asked. She also knew that if she let herself stay at home that she’d never leave it again. So she went and bought the cheapest scrubs she could find and mustered up enough energy to show up.
She didn’t really need Ayria to show her around that day. She knew the unit inside and out from her time as a volunteer; she just needed the codes for the supply rooms and a list of her tasks for her 12-hour shift. But she was glad that they were together when they went into Bekah’s room because Bekah was kind enough not to say anything with someone else there. Now, she didn’t hold back.
“You look like shit,” she said as soon as Indy walked in.
“It’s 4 am, you should be asleep,” Indy countered with a smirk. The incident on Christmas was forgiven without a second thought, and she was relieved to be back to their normal banter as she put her blood pressure cuff on.
“You should be asleep. This is your last shift of the week though.”
“Says who?”
“You’ve been here three days already, that’s the max you can work without overtime.”
Indy kept quiet and wrote down her blood pressure in the chart.
“Are you okay?” Bekah asked quietly, and Indy sucked in a deep breath, trying to stop the tears flooding her eyes.
“I’m fine Beks. Promise.”
Bekah contemplated if she should say it.
“Is it Grayson?”
Indy’s breath caught in her throat. Her hands shook as she held up the thermometer, and she had to blink hard to be able to read the numbers and scribble them down.
Bekah took her silence as an answer.
“Sorry. I know it must be hard, having him so far away,” she murmured. Indy couldn’t find her voice to tell her that it was okay. She fiddled with her blankets, tucking her in nicely and dimming her lights down to give her time to clear the knot in her throat.
“Get some sleep Beks.”
She held it together until she got outside her room, and then the tears escaped. As quickly as she could, she ducked her head and beelined for the nurses’ desk, using her oldest trick of drinking water to keep herself from fully breaking down.
Valentina sat at her desk and watched with a frown, but she didn’t say anything.
Indy gave herself one minute, and then she took a deep breath and got back to work.
Time crawled, and she cursed herself for not leaving enough things to keep her busy for the rest of her shift. By 6 am, she’d resorted to cleaning the tables in the break room and reorganizing supplies in the supply closet to keep herself occupied. She knew the day shift nurses would appreciate the extra effort - they always sung her praises, thrilled to work a shift after her considering how well she set it up for them.
Valentina came into the supply closet at 6:30.
“You might just work our daytime tech out of a job,” she said, making Indy jump and drop the bandages she was restocking.
“You scared me,” she said, catching her breath. “Just restocking.”
“You work too hard,” Valentina shook her head, crossing her arms. “You’re gonna burn yourself out sweetheart, and we need you around here.”
“I’ll be alright.”
“You act like I don’t know you’re going to your other job right after this.”
“They give me good coffee there, what can I say,” Indy teased, but when she looked Valentina’s eyes were sad. “I like to keep busy.”
“Too busy,” she tsked. “You leave at 6:50 today.”
“Valentina-”
“Keep talking and I’ll make it 6:40,” she threatened. “And you get some sleep later, you hear me?”
“Yes ma’am,” Indy conceded, knowing it wasn’t an argument she could win. Nurses weren’t the type to lose an argument, and she’d never met a more nurse-y nurse than Valentina. She finished stocking quickly, gathering her bags and double-checking she’d finished everything before she headed out, waving goodbye to the nurses she saw.
She was distracted on her way out, and she didn’t think when she hit the button to get into the next hallway.
For two weeks, she prepped. Mentally paused and thought of all the things that could hit her out of the blue, make her come unraveled. She was ready, for the couples in the street holding hands, for the husbands coming to walk their wives home from work, the high schoolers on hot chocolate dates in the big city. But it was always the small things that got her.
She hadn’t prepared herself, and her eyes automatically went to the walls when she cleared the doors. The ocean mural. The jellyfish, the sea turtle on the wall that Grayson had said looked like Ethan once. It hit her like a ton of bricks, her chest so tight that she reached up to press on it as she heard his voice in her head. It made her feel pathetic, the way she had to stop and grab onto the rail in the hall and steady herself for a moment. She counted her breaths, trying her hardest to shut her mind off, staring at the blue of the walls as she willed herself to be okay, just for another day.
Grayson was staring at the water. Or at least, he was trying to. The moon wasn’t very bright, but it reflected enough off the ocean for him to get a sense of which way the sun would come up. The whole surface was washed black by the night sky, and it was peaceful. He wanted to swim in it. He wanted to sink beneath it and find that blissful quiet you could only find underwater.
He’d fallen asleep soon after Ethan had left him alone, which meant he found himself wide awake at 4 am, body tired of being asleep. Sitting in bed would only make things worse, so he sent Ethan a quick text and headed off in the Porsche towards the secret beach. There was no one else there so early in the morning, and he was grateful. It gave him the peace of mind to curl in on himself, let the tears flow freely as the waves lapped at the shore, returning over and over.
Time ran away from him in the dark. His tears ceased eventually, dried themselves out as he sat in his misery. He didn’t fight it. Instead, he let it wash over him, sink into every pore and weigh him down, wishing he could somehow disappear into the sand as the sun started to rise and wash the world in light orange. His phone buzzed, no doubt a text from his brother. He elected to ignore it, keeping his eyes on the water, counting the waves as they came in. It was admirable, the dedication they showed; returning every time they got sucked back out.
At some point, he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up, and he sighed, pulling his hood up over his head in a feeble attempt to hide himself from whoever was watching him. He stood up and brushed the sand off himself, ducking his head down and jogging straight back to his car, hoping whoever it was wasn’t trying to come up to him.
As soon as he ducked into his car and pulled the door shut, he sunk down, resting his forehead against his steering wheel.
“Fuck!” He yelled, smacking his dashboard. His radio turned on with a jolt, connected to his phone and automatically starting his playlist. Cudi blared through the speakers and he groaned, hitting all the wrong buttons in an attempt to get it to turn off.
“Stop, fucking stop!” In a last attempt he chucked his phone across the car, watched it ricochet off the dash and down into the floorboard. He threw his car into reverse with blurry eyes, desperate to get away from anyone who might have a camera. He was paranoid the whole drive home that someone was watching, eyes darting to the windows of any car he ended up next to at a stoplight. It wasn’t until he got the gate closed behind him and he was in the house that he felt like he could breathe again. With Ethan still asleep down the hall, he choked back his sobs as he sat down at the counter, face in his hands.
Indy was taking deep breaths behind the counter as the line started to pile up at Jet’s. She looked to her right, frowning at the stress on her new coworker, Mariposa’s, face as the cups continued to line up next to her.
“Hey Posie,” she called over between customers. “Do you wanna switch?”
“God yes,” she exclaimed, rushing to take Indy’s place at the register so she could move over to the bar.
Indiana preferred it that way. She didn’t have to smile for a latte, she just had to pour it and try not to burn her fingers and move on to the next. It had come back like second nature to her, and she liked the fast pace. It gave less time for her to think, and she welcomed the numbing repetition. She kept an ear piqued towards the register, listening to the orders coming in so she could get ahead. The next one came from a taller man, his face hidden behind a coat.
“Just give me the biggest cup of the strongest stuff you’ve got.”
Indy dropped her cup, a half poured latte splattering all over her hands first, down her apron, then the bottom of her jeans and onto her shoes. It only took one look over at the man to realize it wasn’t Grayson, and she deflated.
“Shit,” she hissed, flicking her hands in an attempt to chill the burn that was already searing on her skin. She side-stepped to the sink, flipping the cold water on and letting it flow over her hands. It stung even more, and she sighed at the bright red of her skin. She’d had enough burns from her time as a barista to know that it would blister.
“Indiana, you okay?” Patrick called from the ovens, moving a line of pastries in and out.
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine.”
He frowned, but kept quiet, letting her get back into the groove of making drinks. Indy could feel him watching her, the familiar weight of a protective eye over her shoulder. At least he was kind enough to wait until her shift was over before he tried to talk to her again.
“Hey, how’s your hand?”
Indy looked down and sighed at the sight of her red skin, resisting the urge to rub it. Instead, she moved to the first aid kit and grabbed a wrap bandage.
“It’s been better, but I’ll survive.”
“Why don’t you take the day off tomorrow,” Patrick suggested as casually as he could. “You know, to rest your hand.”
Indy scoffed.
“It’s not gonna fall off Patrick, I’m fine.”
He sighed. “Fine, if you’re gonna make me say it then I will. You’re a hard worker, one of the best we have, but you’re exhausted. We can all see it, and you don’t need to burn yourself out like this for a minimum wage job. So, you’re off tomorrow. No exceptions.”
“But-”
“No. Exceptions.”
Her anger bubbled up in her like the blister forming on her thumb, but she knew it wasn’t Patrick’s fault. He was right - she was just upset at the idea of having an entire day with nothing to distract her. An empty apartment had never seemed so daunting, and it was all she could think about as she clocked out, got her things together, and walked home.
It was quieter than she’d imagined when she got through the door, the click of the latch echoing through the still space. She thought of turning on music, but that only made her think of Grayson, singing off-key next to her in the truck. She could put on a movie, but it would make her think of cuddling with him on the couch. Her bed was where he had been so many nights. He’d cooked in her kitchen, he’d helped her move furniture in the guest room.
She couldn’t escape him, no matter where she went. And so, as pathetic as she felt doing it, she sunk down right there on the floor, and she let the misery have her. It came in broken sobs that caught on her throat on the way out, too loud even for her own ears as she tried to imagine a day where she didn’t feel like the world was crumbling around her.
She wasn’t sure how long she sat there. But eventually, the things no one ever talked about started to happen. Her butt went numb, and her head started to hurt, and her lips got dry from the saltwater that ran over them. None of that mattered though. What finally got her up from the cold floor was the fact that she was sticky - remnants of the vanilla syrup in the latte that she’d dropped finally congealing and making her feel more disgusting than the tears. She peeled herself up off the floor and headed to her bathroom.
Grayson was in the shower, with his head down, water splashing over his back and bouncing off his shoulders - a statue in the rain. It was the best place to avoid getting on his phone, considering he couldn’t, and that was the only way he could trust himself to not get on twitter and see the aftermath of the morning.
He wondered for a moment what he looked like from outside the glass shower door, standing there with his razor up by his chest. The blades clogged with the long hairs he shaved from his chest, leaving him bare and smoother than he’d been in months. He sat the razor down and moved to pick up a clear bottle from the shelf. Polis was scribbled on it in sharpie in Ethan’s handwriting, remnants of a Wakeheart meeting. Grayson could remember how excited he was to pitch the idea, even if it was over zoom.
“I finally came up with the third body wash scent. Vanilla, with a hint of coffee and then a little bit of sandalwood to keep it professional and put together.”
He’d had to whisper it - Indy was asleep in her room, the product of a good post study-session back rub that had lulled her into a much-needed nap. The team loved it, thought it complimented the other two scents they’d been testing well. Ethan was hesitant, but he kept his mouth shut and brainstormed a backup if needed.
Grayson was thankful for the gesture, even when he’d told him that he’d started planning it as early as he had. But he wasn’t willing to give it up, and he made it very clear in their first meeting back that Polis was a permanent scent. It felt like a tiny piece of her that he could hold onto. Still, as he stood there and held the bottle up to his nose, it wasn’t the same. As pitiful as it made him feel, he tried closing his eyes, tried to imagine she was there with him, standing in front of him, giggling like she always did when they showered together.
He couldn’t do it justice. Couldn’t feel the warmth of her skin against his, couldn’t smell her shampoo or watch her try to bend over and shave her legs in her small apartment shower without bumping into him. He’d held her hips to help her keep her balance, listened to her laugh and talk about casual intimacy, heard the way it echoed off the tiles and became his favorite sound in the entire world.
His tears mixed with the water, his pain palpable as he started to quiver just barely, the memory enough to break down the paper thin wall he’d managed to drag back up to protect himself. When his knees shook he gave up and sunk to the ground, green tiles of the bench seat icy against his back as he buried his face in his hands. He’d never felt weaker in his life, and he wished he was ten again, so his dad could wrap his strong arm around his shoulder and tell him that everything would be alright.
He went for the next best thing once he managed to get enough energy to get up and turn the water off. A few swipes of his towel over his body and hair, then he pulled his boxers on and put on his robe, walking straight out of his room and down the hall.
Ethan’s door was open, but he wasn’t in his bed like Gray expected. He was at his desk instead, a look of stress on his face that Grayson was all too familiar with. A pang of guilt resonated in him when he realized what his brother was doing - picking up all the slack that he was leaving in his misery.
He hadn’t said a word about it though, and that made it worse.
It took Ethan a moment to realize his brother was there, but as soon as he did he turned his desk chair, giving him his full attention.
“Hey.”
Grayson didn’t answer.
“You okay?” Ethan tried again. Grayson’s throat burned, and he shook his head, sitting on the end of the bed. He’d never been able to hide from Ethan, and luckily, he never really had to. Because Ethan was the type of brother to act tough when he needed to, but soften up at the smallest things. Which was why Grayson wasn’t surprised to see his brother rise up out of his chair, coming to sit next to him. The bed sunk down a bit with his weight, and Grayson let himself press up against his brother. The air felt heavy while he waited.
“You’re good. Just let it out.” Ethan’s voice was quiet, and he leaned his cheek against his brother’s head and felt him go to pieces. It was the hardest Grayson had cried since the airport, and every sniffle made his head pound but he couldn’t pull himself together. Those were the kind of moments where he wondered how people survived without twin brothers. He felt safe there with Ethan - if everything else fell apart, at least he’d have him. There were a million things he could say, but he already knew what the answers would be. Ethan would tell him that he’d find someone else some day, and that Indy would heal and that he shouldn’t feel guilty for doing what he did. He also knew that Ethan would say all of it even if he didn’t believe it, because their pain was shared.
Grayson cried himself out again after an hour or so, his sinuses pounding behind his eyes as the headache settled in.
Ethan stayed still - he knew better than to leave him. It wasn’t until Grayson finally wiped at his eyes that his brother relaxed a bit, watched him stand up and run his hands over his face. It felt colder without Ethan right next to him, but he knew he needed to sleep.
“Try to get some sleep,” Ethan echoed his thoughts. “We need to record the pod tonight if you can.”
“Okay. I can help with the emails, I know we probably have a shit ton.”
Ethan was already shaking his head before he finished.
“Just get some sleep, okay?”
Grayson nodded and gave him the best smile he could manage before he went back into his room, climbing back into the safety of his covers with his phone in his hand, just in case she called.
Indy’s pillow was wet. It was mainly from her hair soaking into the pillowcase - she didn’t have the energy to dry it after her shower. But she’d also made a terrible mistake. One scroll through the app store and a quick log in and she was back onto instagram, ignoring the now thousands of follow requests she had in her notifications. It only took one click to her explore page and her tears were adding to the moisture below her cheek.
He had on his Cudi hoodie, the yellow one. She wished she’d been there to tell him not to wear it. It was too bright, a target for the cameras that seemed to find him. The first ones she saw stung. They were only of his back, taken from far enough away that she could pretend it was someone else. But she knew the way he sat, with his arms over his knees.
The next ones hurt, because she could see his face. He was walking, and she knew him well enough to know he’d realized what was happening and tried to leave, just from his posture, the way he slumped while walking. His eyes were red, those dark circles that she’d ran her fingers over so many times worse than she’d ever seen them. Ever since he’d left, she’d wanted to know how he felt. If he missed her at all, if he was as miserable as she seemed to be every minute of every day.
It hurt worse to get her answer than it did to wonder. She’d hoped he was upset, but suddenly all she wanted to do was hold him, tell him it was okay, that she was okay even though she wasn’t. It was impossible not to scroll, looking for anything new, any hints as to what he had been up to since he’d gotten off that plane.
She had never asked for a front row seat to his life, but she’d take it if it was the only glimpse of him that she could get. It made her feel pathetic, but she didn’t care enough to fight it.
Eventually, she found herself scrolling his page. She couldn’t tell how she got there, but she couldn’t seem to leave it either. So she just scrolled, averting her eyes from any comments, and pretending, just for a moment, that everything was back to the way it was. That he was just busy recording a podcast, or that he’d be sprawled out on her couch when she went out to the living room.
She held onto it until she walked out of her room, knowing she needed to eat even though she didn’t want to. She kept her eyes off the couch, moving to her cabinets that were barren apart from a few avocados that were rotten. With a sigh she threw them in the trash that was close to overflowing, opting instead for the last box of mac and cheese she had left.
Indy was thankful for muscle memory, her mind wandering off to better days where her kitchen wasn’t so quiet as she cooked the pasta she really didn’t want and took it back to her room, curling up under her covers as she ate.
Grayson had two empty boxes of vegan mac and cheese in front of him, one of which obviously had an ‘E’ scribbled on it that he’d ignored when he made them. He shoveled the noodles into his mouth, ignoring the way they burnt his tongue just barely. Ethan walked in and saw the boxes, opened his mouth and shut it again.
“S’pod setup?” Grayson said around a mouthful.
“Yeah, I set up the pod, we’re good whenever you’re ready.”
“Gimminute.”
Ethan just chuckled and shook his head, happy to at least see his brother eating even if he was shoveling it down like he hadn’t seen food before. He waited, seeing that Gray was done within the next two minutes, sitting his bowl in the sink and stretching his arms out. He looked tired, but Ethan hoped the pod camera was far enough away from them to make the dark circles subtle enough.
“Do you want some of my old concealer stuff? For under your eyes?”
Grayson hesitated for a moment, picking at his nails. “You still have it?”
“Yeah, hang on.” Ethan ran to his bathroom, snagged the compact from his bottom drawer and brought it to the kitchen. “Come over here, you’re supposed to do it in natural light.”
He held it out for Grayson, who just looked up at him.
“I don’t know how the fuck to do it, you do it.”
“Do I look like a makeup artist to you?” Ethan asked, and when Grayson stayed quiet, he sighed and flipped the compact open, swiping his finger through the semi-creamy substance and moving to pat it on his brother, frowning when it was more difficult than he thought it would be. “Look up you fuck, I gotta blend it.”
Grayson just rolled his eyes but did as he was told, sitting still until E said he was finished and led the way to the studio. They got settled in their chairs, double checking the camera angles. Ethan cleared his throat, waiting until his brother looked at him.
“Are we… do you want to mention anything about…”
Grayson waited. He wondered if his brother was really going to be dumb enough to ask.
“Are we talking about the pictures, yes or no.”
“What the fuck do you think the answer to that is,” Gray grumbled.
“I’m just saying, if you mention it you can say what you want about it, get your own voice out there. Whatever you say, I’ll go along with it.”
“Great.”
Grayson took a deep breath, gave Ethan a look that read as an apology, and clicked the button to start recording. He stayed fairly quiet the first few minutes of the recording, waiting to jump into a conversation that didn’t make his throat tight. The podcast was his favorite place, because he could let himself actually speak, say what he wanted to say without worrying.
It came back to bite him in the ass 45 minutes into the episode, when his guard was down and he had finally lost himself the way he did when he worked. They were talking about birds, and how they had a bad, unjustified rep.
“I mean, Gizmo can be an asshole sometimes, but she’s only an asshole when people are like, scared of her,” Ethan mused.
“Right! She gets all shy when I come home after a while, but when Dee came in the house the first time she was freaking out, just from hearing her and I swear, every time after that Giz just like, screamed every single time she was even in the house.”
“Gray-”
“No seriously! You remember how loud she got? Fuck, remember that time she went down to help mom with dessert and Giz was out and she cried?”
“Grayson.”
“What? Did I peak the mic?”
Ethan’s eyes were sad. “You… you said her name.”
“Huh?”
“Indiana. You said Dee, when you were telling that story.”
He swallowed hard. “Oh. Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” He could see him spiraling, and he tried to reel him back in. “You’re okay. We can just cut it, and start again with a story about Gizmo.”
“Yeah uh… just give me a second.”
“Sure. Whatever you need.”
“Just, uh, say what you said again before,” Grayson murmured, shaking his head to try and clear it. But it was too late - he was so consumed by what his mind had brought back to the surface that he could barely hear Ethan repeat his words.
“Yeah-” Grayson came in a moment late. “Giz is a special one.”
Ethan waited for him to continue, but jumped in when he didn’t. “She gets shy when you haven’t been home in a while and you show up. That’s the thing about animals dude, like people think about cats and dogs and they can recognize their emotions, but with stuff like birds and cows and shit, people just don’t think about them that way, and it fucking sucks. They have feelings too! Gizmo’s fucking sassy bro, she will let you know how she’s feeling, especially if she’s pissed. Bro, we should have Giz on the pod, do you think she’d talk? She can whistle, we could show off her tricks.”
“You can’t put a bird on a plane,” Grayson mumbled. His eyes were fixed down on the blue center of the table, and he was fidgeting with his sleeves.
“Yeah, but we can put the mics in our suitcases and just record at home.”
Ethan realized it a moment too late. He wanted to snatch his words out of the air, scratch them from the tape when he saw the way Grayson’s eyes met his, saw the gloss near his waterline.
“Yeah - uh - um,” Grayson tried to save it, and then he covered his mouth, silencing the squeak that turned into a sob. He pretended it was a cough, bringing his hand up and running his fingers over his forehead, shielding his eyes from the camera.
“I uh, I miss home a lot more this time than I usually do,” he said, his voice froggy with the tightness of his throat. Ethan couldn’t say anything. There was nothing to say as he watched his brother fight and lose in his battle to keep his composure, covering his mouth as he cried, knuckles brushing up against the mic.
“Fuck, sorry, I’m sorry E.”
“It’s okay, hey, it’s okay.” Ethan was up so fast he forgot to take off his headphones. They fell back into the chair when they pulled off his ears as he moved to his brother, pulling him up into a hug. “We can finish it later, we’ll just cut to an ad or something. It’s okay.”
“Sorry.”
“Shh. It’s fine bro, it’s fine. C’mon, let’s go get some air.”
Air wasn’t what they found.
Instead, they found Eden, standing against the counter with her arms crossed in a way that had Ethan’s blood running cold. He thought the sight of Grayson practically curled in on himself might have softened her up, but she stood her ground until both of the twins were looking at her.
Grayson knew that she knew, and she only confirmed it when she spoke.
“What. The fuck. Is wrong with you.”
Back in New York, Indy’s phone was ringing. Or at least, she thought it was. But when she unlocked it and was blinded by the light, it was just her lockscreen, Grayson smiling at her with 3:04 written across the top. Judging by the darkness, she knew she hadn’t slept the afternoon away, but the buzzing continued until she finally climbed out of bed and realized it was the intercom system - the front desk calling her through the small phone on her wall that hardly ever rang. She pulled it off the receiver and held it up to her ear.
“Hello?”
“Hi Ms. Cross, there’s a gentleman here to see you.”
Her heart skipped, and she clutched the phone with both her hands.
“Who?”
There was a beat of silence, and Indy could vaguely hear her ask him for a name.
“His name is Devin.”
She sucked in a breath, letting her head and her hopes fall.
“Send him up.”
It took her a moment to process her grief before the panic set in. If Devin was showing up unannounced, something bad must have happened. She swung her door open, chewing on her nails as she stood in the doorway, waiting for him to appear. He came out of the elevator with a small duffle slung over his shoulder and a cautious smile that had her ready to cry.
“Dev, what the hell are you doing here? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” he said.
“Charlie?”
“Also fine. We’re fine.”
She caught her breath, and then she was frowning. “If everything is fine, why the fuck are you here at 3am?”
“Because you haven’t answered your sister’s calls in a week, and she’s worried sick about you.”
Guilt panged in her stomach - she hadn’t meant to ignore her. In all honesty, she’d ignored everyone without realizing it.
“I- sorry, I didn’t mean to. Just slipped my mind. Is she here too?”
“She’s got a wedding to shoot this weekend, and we only had one ticket anyways. Flight got delayed, tried to find a hotel for the night so I could wait until later this morning but I couldn’t find one so you’re stuck with me. Sorry,” he teased, reaching out to hold onto her shoulder. There was no malice in his voice, and Indy was grateful. “Let’s go inside.”
He didn’t ask for it, but she made him a coffee anyways alongside her own. She was tired, her eyes burning, but it wasn’t anything new from the last few weeks. She fought it, pulling one of the few sweatshirts Grayson had left at her place over her head before she sat on the couch, waiting.
Devin was quiet, tapping his fingers against his mug, out of his element.
“Dev.”
“Hmm?”
“You didn’t fly to New York to drink coffee with me. Talk.”
He sighed, sitting his mug down on the coffee table and turning towards her.
“Inds, we’re worried about you.”
Indy scoffed, a short, automatic sound.
“I’m fine.”
“No, you aren’t. You really, really aren’t. You’re running yourself into the ground for no good reason.”
“I’m trying to pay rent,” she countered, but even she knew it wasn’t true.
“Your hospital job pays more than rent. Jet’s is just because you’re scared to let your mind rest.”
Indy didn’t have an answer, so she sipped her coffee instead, cursing herself for telling Charlie everything in a moment of weakness. The silence was loud, and Devin sighed to break it after far too long.
“Have you talked to him? Since?”
Her throat was tight. “No.”
Devin wrung his hands together. “You do know it was fucked up what he did, right?”
“Dev-”
“I’m just making sure you know that. You can still make your own decision on however you wanna navigate it in the future, but you have to acknowledge that what he did was a new level of shitty. And he’s a good guy, I really do think he is, but he fucked you over, and you’re my family. And I protect my family. So I just need you to know that you didn’t deserve what he did to you, and he fucked up. Big time.”
“Right.”
“Okay, good.”
She let him believe it, though she’d only said it to appease him. She wondered if he would feel differently, if he had seen. If he had felt, the way that Grayson had shook in her arms, the way his sobs seemed to be ripping him apart every moment that he was hurting her. She wanted to pull up her phone, show him the pictures from the beach, show him that he was hurting too, that he didn’t want to hurt her. She wanted to prove it to him.
“When does your semester start?” He asked, pulling her mind off of it. She swallowed hard, then took another drink of coffee.
Indiana had spent three days in self pity when she got back from the airport. She let the misery have her fully - didn’t change her clothes, barely ate, hardly left her bedroom. And then, after that, she picked herself up and got to work. She applied for her tech job and called Patrick to see if she could get the schedules to align, and more importantly, she’d started to run numbers.
Medical school. Just the application fees alone were going to hit her budget hard, so much so that she reduced it down to two. JCU, and UCLA.
Her applications had gotten accepted three days prior, along with an email about a scholarship she was eligible for at UCLA that made it comparable to JCU’s tuition. But the money wasn’t the issue, and when it was time to accept, she knew that UCLA wouldn’t hold her spot forever.
She’d taken a deep breath, and emailed the registrar.
“I deferred.”
She was embarrassed to say it outloud, and for some reason it was the brick of the dam that fell, and her tears began to flow. She felt Devin’s hand on her shoulder before he spoke.
“Good.”
She hadn’t expected him to be mean - in fact, the meanest thing she’d ever heard him say was what he’d just said about Grayson. But it still shocked her enough to have her frowning.
“Good?”
“Indy. Do you realize how long you’ve been a student? Do you know who you are outside of being one?”
“I-”
“You’re the smartest person I know, and I love you, but I think you need to take a step back and really look at what you’re doing. Take a semester, fuck, take a year. Live. Breathe. You’re already ahead, and you’ll still be ahead.”
“I’m not worried about being ahead, Dev,” she whispered, running her hands over her face.
“Then what are you worried about?” There was a sincerness in his voice, and a gentleness in the way he held her hand that made her cry even harder.
“I just don’t know what the fuck to do anymore,” she blubbered, grateful when he pulled her over to his chest in a hug. He let her cry it out for a while, waiting until she was calm enough to hear him.
“I don’t have the answer to that, but I say, ask yourself what you really want the rest of your life to look like, and then do whatever you have to to get there. If it’s being a doctor, great. If it’s not, great. Just as long as it’s what you want.”
She took a shaky breath in, and blew it out through her lips, simply giving him a nod.
The problem was, she knew exactly what she wanted - and he was off in Los Angeles, cowering behind his brother.
“Baby, woah, hey, take it easy,” Ethan cautioned, side stepping into the war path she’d outlined, headed straight for Grayson. Her eyes were fire when she looked at her boyfriend and raised an eyebrow.
“He’s having a rough night, just take it easy,” he added.
He stoked the flames.
“You know who else is probably having a rough fucking night? Indiana. And we are gonna talk later-” she poked a finger into Ethan’s chest - “but right now, I’m not talking to you so I suggest you get out of my way.”
There was a bite in her tone that had Ethan rocking back on his heels, questioning just how far his duties as protective brother would go. He breathed out a sigh when he felt Grayson’s hand on his shoulder.
“It’s fine E.”
He’d never admit it, but Grayson had been waiting. Ever since he pulled away on New Year’s, he had waited for the punishment. The anger, the disbelief, the spite that he thought would arise in Indiana at the realization of what he’d done.
It wasn’t until he got off the plane and into his room that he realized his true punishment would be the guilt, and the grief, and the realization that he’d pushed away the only future he’d ever truly known he wanted.
The anger was a welcomed change.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? What the fuck, Grayson.”
“I know.”
“I don’t say a lot of shit about a lot of shit, but whoever you decide to be with could possibly end up as part of my family, forever, so fuck me if I’m invested, and I think I deserve an explanation on why I just got a call from Charlie to see if I’d talked to Indy, cause she’s ‘really going through it’.”
“I didn’t want to hurt her.” His eyes turned glossy, and Ethan stood up straighter.
“The fuck you didn’t,” she scoffed, running her hand through her hair to push her curls out of her face. “You realize how badly you fucked up, right? Right?”
“Yes.”
“And that you broke her heart right? Probably absolutely fucking destroyed her.”
“Eden-” Ethan spoke up.
“Yes,” Grayson answered, his chest tight. He wrapped his arms around himself, willed them to hold him together. It felt different, to have someone say it to him so directly, to confirm what he had done.
“Then why? Just… why?”
“Long distance wouldn’t have worked, and I didn’t want -”
“Oh bullshit. No one would have tried harder than Indiana to make that work, you fucking know that.”
“She shouldn’t have to deal with that, with me being so far away -”
“God you fucking self-sacrificial fuck!” She yelled. “She loved you, you moron, and when you love someone, you give! You hit a crossroads, you sit down and have a fucking conversation, and you fucking give! That’s what a fucking real relationship looks like, not you deciding that you don’t deserve to be loved and running in the other fucking direction!” Her face was red when she stopped to catch her breath. Ethan looked just as shocked at the outburst as his brother. Her mind seemed to catch up to her ears, and she backtracked.
“Sorry, fuck, that was -”
“No, you're right. You’re right. Everything you said was fucking right,” Grayson didn’t even try to hide his tears. He blubbered into his hands, ugly choking sobs that he wasn’t sure how he even produced. Ethan was at his side immediately, arm wrapped around his shoulders.
“What do I do?” He asked, voice muffled by his hands until he finally raised his head and looked at Eden with pleading eyes, waiting for an answer she was reluctant to give.
“You let her live. Don’t text her, don’t call her. If she calls, you don’t answer. When you go home, you don’t see her. You let her let go, and move on.”
All he could do was nod, and lean into his brother.
Indy leaned against the wall. It was cold and unrelenting against her shoulder, but it held her up better than her own legs would. She’d dropped Devin off at the airport that afternoon, and found herself back on the ped’s floor, waiting.
Valentina spotted her first from the nurses station, and the way she held her clipboard made it look like a weapon.
“My eyes better be deceiving me, cause’ I know that is not Indiana Cross standing in my hallway on her day off.”
Indy found it in her to laugh dryly. “Relax Val, I’m here to see Beks. Haven’t gotten to visit her off the clock for a while.”
Valentina still gave her signature disapproving stare, but she gave it up with a sigh. “Well, her family is visiting too. Mom and Dad, if you wanna say hi.”
It had been a long time since she’d seen Mr. and Mrs. Newcomb. They were lovely people, and they truly did come see her as often as they could. But they also worked two jobs a piece to try to foot the medical bills, which meant often was scarce.
Indy had never seen them in the same room before, and her stomach tightened. She was hesitant to go to Bekah’s room, scared to interrupt, but when she peaked her head around her doorway, she saw the couple sitting on the couch in the room quietly.
Mrs. Newcomb spotted her, eyes brightening as she waved her inside.
“Come in, come in!”
Indy was still hesitant as she walked inside, eyes darting over to a sleeping Bekah. She was curled up under her halloween blanket, brows furrowed down and skin pale.
“Hi Indiana, how are you sweet girl?” Mrs. Newcomb asked.
“I’m good, I’m sorry to interrupt, I just thought I might stop by and check on her but I don’t want to intrude.”
“No, no you’re fine! She was actually asking about you just before she went to sleep, you and Earring, whoever that is. Hang on.”
Indy watched as she moved over to the edge of her daughter’s bed, running her thumb along her cheek until she started to stir.
“Sweetheart, Indiana is here to see you. Can you open your eyes for me?”
Bekah whined, but pulled her eyes open, smiling slightly when Indiana moved into her view.
“Hey punk,” Indy said, crouching down so she could get to her level.
“Hey,” she whispered, voice hoarse. On instinct, Indy reached out to fix her head wrap, making Bekah’s mother smile. “What time is it?”
“6:55,” Indy answered.
“Mmm. Meds coming soon,” she mumbled. “Where’s Earrings? He doesn’t like needles, don’t let him see the needles.”
“No needles baby,” Mrs. Newcomb said. “Just some to make you feel better. You rest now.”
“Earrings,” she said again, and Indy could tell she was asking.
“He’ll be here to see you soon,” Indy lied, rubbing over her wrap like she would her hair if it was still there.
It didn’t click for Indiana until 7 rolled around, and Jennifer came in with a cup of pills instead of an IV pole.
Radiation and chemo don’t come in pills, Indy knew that much.
Mrs. Newcomb watched the realization come across her face, and she gave her a sympathetic smile.
“She’s… she didn’t get her meds.”
“Indiana baby, it’s what she wants. The new round didn’t work, the stem cells failed. It’s time to let her rest. We’ll keep her comfortable, the doctor says it’ll probably be a few weeks, maybe a month.”
Indy’s throat burned, and her breathing quickened, chest rising much too fast. She couldn’t say goodbye to anyone - it took all her focus to make it out of the building, running down the stairs and across the lobby before she was dry heaving in the bushes, the sight of Bekah’s frail body in her bed appearing every time she closed her eyes.
It wasn’t a conscious decision. More of an instinct, really, that drove her to pull her phone out of her pocket and pull him up and call.
In LA, Grayson’s phone buzzed against his nightstand. A new picture of Indiana popped up - her contact photo that he’d taken one day in Jersey. With a knot in his throat and Eden’s voice in his ears, he reached over and turned it off before rolling away and letting his tears soak into the pillowcase.

danny phantom 14-20 thoughts!! I finished up s1 :D these last few eps were actually really really good!!!
-did. did tucker really just say esperanto was a dead language only spoken as a secret code between geeks. google says around 100,000 people actively speak it. oh my god...it being an auxiliary language doesn't mean its 'just for geeks to speak in code' ...it helps bridge gaps between people who don't have a language in common...
-danny really isn't pulling punches when it comes to fighting the ghost-cop possessed people huh. like he SLAMMED KWAN INTO THE CONCRETE SO HARD. HE THREW PAULINA INTO A BILLBOARD. will that...I mean it WOULD carry over to their bodies non-possessed, right? like if the ghost piloting their bodies gets hurt?? itd be so upsetting to be possessed, lose time, then wake up covered in bruises (and possibly, broken bones??) real horror movie stuff im sure wont be addressed in any way
-tuckers parents seem nice! I like them :)
-WULF IS CUTE AND I FEEL BAD. im so glad the gang realized he was only causing trouble bc of the shock collar walker put on him and helped. also, him wearing that big hoodie with the hood on, and thinking its subtle. we can tell youre still a giant wolfie :) THEN GETTING SUCKED INTO THE PORTAL AAAAH :( anxiously waiting to see Him Again....
-DANNY BLASTING HIS PARENTS THINKING THEY WERE OVERSHADOWED LMFAO GET THEIR ASSES. maddie marking how many ghosts she gets with lipstick tallies on the side of her portal gun? kindaaa iconic tho. (ALSO, SHE WAS LIKE, 2 FT AWAY FROM HIM RIGHT AFTER SHE TRIED TO SHOOT HIM. HOW DO YOU NOT RECONINZE YOUR OWN SON??? like sure, he might have diff hair/eye colors. but like, if one of my family members dyed their hair, and was wearing contacts, its not like id be like 'wHO IS THIS STRANGER!!!' ...he still has all his facial features!! same everything!!! I hate it here)
-paulina being #1 girl realizing danny's a friendly ghost immediately. smart queen. lancer and kwan ran away right after he made this sweet baby face at them:
Tumblr media
which is hilarious.
-ok. im not saying his bullying is JUSTIFIED, but. dash looked so pleased with the (cute!) poster he just painted, and danny comes thru the wall and spills paint on his nice letterman jacket. his anger is justified maybe 65% of the time so far...(not the way he handles it, but STILL.) at least lancer is stepping in!! and them making a silly little bet was...cute?? until dash pulled out his GROSS UNDERWEAR AND SAID DANNY WOULD HAVE TO EAT THEM???? WHAT THE FUCK MAN. TUCKER WAS SO RIGHT ITS FUCKING WEIRD TO CARRY THOSE AROUND EWWW. THIS KID IS UNWELL. lancer was right, his animatronic setup was SUPER IMPRESSIVE?? hes actually pretty creative. danny meanwhile is stealing the fright knight's design...I hope dash is taking art classes or smth with his sports
-fright knight is the most bestest ghost so far i LOVE THAT DESIGN. I am biased towards knights, and characters with swords, but he fucks so severely. and should sue danny for copyright infringement for stealing his design for his haunted house. if some 14 yr old broke into MY house and stole MY sword, id also be pissed. his evil winged unicorn rules too with its FANGS. and he just CAN SHOVE THE PORTAL OPEN WITH HIS HANDS??? is he the strongest ghost weve seen so far? idk but hes my fav. SOUL SHREDDER IS SUCH A COOL SWORD NAME TOO. ANY NAMED SWORD ALSO FUCKS. 'flaming bedsheets of DEATH' funny king. ALSO he was polite to dash and tucker when just asking for directions and telling tucker 'oh maybe, just a suggestion, maybe be nicer to me and be more respectful :)' I LOOOVE HIM.
-I noticed this in the Ember ep, but jazz has an electric guitar in her room!! talent musical queen!! its cool to see hobbies just in the bg.
-fright knight's murder castle reminds me of the booby trapped murder castle in zexal!! another supposedly 'for kids' show with murder/trap castles! we love that. if you are a dp fan reading this, give yugioh zexal a try. its also got 13-14 year old protags and involves (alien) ghosts. the cardgame is just a vessel for the plot, which is really good. (I just want more people to watch my fav yugioh, man)
-danny. with a SWORD.
-danny doesnt NEED TO WIN this contest, dash didnt STEAL HIS DESIGNS AND STEAL A SWORD. he also got excited to hear lancer got sent to a dimension with his worst fears too just so he could win the contest? DANNY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!! BRO MAYBE YOURE 14 AND HAVENT FULLY DEVOLPED YOUR WHOLE BRAIN YET, BUT...THATS FUCKED. this kid casually says the most deranged things, I do worry for my spooky son. once again, therapy needed. that judo toss was great tho. I wonder if he actually did pick up some martial arts stuff from his mom?
-danny can fly 112 mph!!! thats so fast! I love the lil montage of him and his friends testing his abilities and stuff, very cute and a good way to showcase what he can do by now and how much more proficient he's gotten from ep 1!!! I'm sure he's going to get more abilities :)
-im glad...maddie's at least TRYING this ep. I do feel for her because her husband is a man baby. but the fact it took 16 episodes to get a kinda semblance of any kind of real concern or attempts at bonding. hmm. jack's 'BACK OFF SHES A MINOR' @ the ghost trying to attack jazz. also was very funny. and him wanting to make an action figure of her? are the parents redeeming themselves to me? slightly. they gotta Work Harder
-THE GHOST. IS FLYING. THE PLANE.
-fenton machete. but she doesnt carry a PHONE??? ???
-I mean I expected vlad when you namedrop him earlier in the ep, and also the title card picture, and dalv corp being fucking vlad backwards. but seeing him just pull up on a golf cart made me bust out laughing. WITH the gift baskets prepared. why wouldnt you at least be suspicious. also, if he wants danny to be his lil sonboy, why is he so fucking malicious?? dude you are going about this in such a bad way. stop it. get some help.
-maddie not even hesitating to drag danny out. fucking good. danny is so right, go on the internet to date. get a cat. how do you spend...how many years?? has it been since college?? at least 20, right, since the parents/vlad are in their 40s? hung up on ONE girl. my god, man. incel drama queen. her kung fu IS impressive, but dude. 'we both know hes a creep' SO right. it sucks but they do need a phone and shit being in the middle of NOWHERE. also, just stealing his helicopter was great. <3
-'you must be exhausted carrying the weight of that mistake you made years ago' 'well we all make mistakes. maybe I'll make one now!' WHY DID THIS EXHCHANGE SEND ME. AND VLAD WITH THE BREATH SPRAY EWWW BITCH. 'OLD BAIT BREATH' SOO RIGHT. both danny and his mom playing him HAHAH hes so dumb. or rather, I think he thinks with his emotions too too much and is...actually pretty gullible? lmao he believed danny was ready to give in SO fast. (which is sad hes that hopeful, like you have SO MUCH MONEY YOU COULD EASILY GET ANOTHER GIRL WHO HAS A KID. AND WOULD WANT TO BE WITH YOU AND BE SUPPORTED. GET OVER THIS (1) WOMAN ALREADY IM GETTING SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT AAAAH)
-GHOST BEAR GHOST BEAR GHOST BEAR. it was also in the title card, but I still got very excited. we love bears here
-SAM'S BAT SWIMSUIT COVERUP!!! her outfits are simply iconic.
-'i'd tell you to go to the mens room, but I don't think you qualify' top paulina transphobic moments. :( and him wearing a tanktop to the swim park? hmmm! (actually I think she was overshadowed by then, so, KITTY top 10 transphobic moments??)
-kitty just piloting paulina around makes me feel SO bad tho, paulina's gonna wake up and be like 'wtf do you mean I was dating this rando' like youre leading danny on to make johnny jealous, and also just POSSESSING POOR PAULINA. dude take your relationship problems ELSEWHERE. last time we saw them, they seemed like such a cute couple!! wtf johnny!! I mean, she sucks for trying to make him jealous, he sucks for looking at other girls...maybe they need a break, but Not Like This. or, you know, just. better communication...
-and the A-listers having a full packet and a stamp system. who organizes this. kwan fucking owning being the new danny though, this is hysterical. THE TUCKER/KWAN FLOWER FIELD TWIRL. UNIRONICALLY ADORABLE. and him giving it his all for the poetry slam. bless his HEARTTTT.
-Star owns. actually, all of the extra characters are shining this ep and I love it.
-INVISO-BILL??? NOOOO THEY DID HIM SOO DIRTY. DANNY SWEETIE IM SO SORRY.
-johnny and danny bein friends and staging a fake fight (which danny takes too seriously, once again this child has aggression he NEEDS TO WORK OUT) I hope these three stay friends, I said it before but danny needs more friendly ghosts to hang with.
-at this point, Danny's ghost enemies are a lot like, I dunno, batman's rouge gallery is the first thing that comes to mind. they all have their own gimmick and unique designs, but most of them are easy to beat after learning the Moral Lesson. I still get excited when any of them show up again, though. 18 is another valerie episode!!!! :D skulker really said you two will get along if I have to handcuff you together <3 and the gym teacher really said, youre married now, have a flour baby! ngl, I'm not really watching this show for the shipping stuff (which I am very scared to look at the fandom for after I finish this watch through- I feel like there's probably discourse/arguing about ships...) but. I'm gonna put my opinion out there. valerie/danny > sam/danny. maybe I just really love the enemies to lovers trope. And the secret identity stuff adds Extra Flavor.
-SKULKER JUST HAVING THE BOX GHOST AND DANGLING HIM BY A STRING. HILARIOUS. and him watching them with binoculars and making his silly little commentary. AND MAKING THE SACK BABY CRY. LMAO. THIS DUDE IS A BABY KIDNAPPER. skulker is super fun
-danny, you just...collapsed the water tower. and then attacked the nasty burger machine...mascot thingy...out of anger..I KEEP SAYING HE'S GOT ANGER ISSUES BUT. HE REALLY NEEDS A LESSON IN MANAGING COLLATERAL DAMAGE!!! So does valerie!! They're both pretty focused on each other. I mean it's good of Danny to say he's trying to make sure PEOPLE don't get hurt, but... (I mean I guess it's not something 14 year olds WOULD worry about, but as an adult im like, who's going to fix that? how much money will that take??)
-TUCKER MAKING BANK. and sam and tucker being super emotionally attached to their flour baby and being pretty good parents. that's cute...also him just straight kissing her and being like. WAIT. O_O JDSKAFHD. his mom baking them into cookies was the funniest possible result. tbh I dont feel like this is on tucker, if anything the other kid's shouldve been more responsible! He was just taking an opportunity to get that $$ which I respect
-Danny being more understanding of Valerie's situation in the end (helping her at her job, too, and trying to keep that a secret for her!!!) And seeing them work together this ep, and also her letting phantom get her out of the ghost zone...was very sweet. LOVE that. more valerie eps pls
-me when I realize vlad's big stupid house exploded because of his own carelessness with changing the ghost portal ectofiltrator or whatever: *pointing and laughing*
-me when I realize it means he's gonna go make danny's life hell for it somehow: >:(
Tumblr media
-SCOOBY PARODY!!! I feel like there's gotta be some scooby doo/danny phantom crossover stuff, right? also, 'guys in white' men in black wishes
-'oh, that's right! dad married the love of your life! you're bitter and alone!' DANNNNNYY GET HIS ASS ONCE AGAIN WE ARE POINTING AND LAUGHING AT VLAD
-'jack, you captured the ghost boy!!' UMM. he did nothing <3 'we have a weapon's vault??' YOU HAVE A WEAPONS VAULT??? and jack didnt put a handle on the inside. of fucking course he didnt! why would you leave that to your son!! or expect him to clean YOUR LAB when its where you work with probably dangerous chemicals and weapons and hes 14!! give him normal chores, like, I dunno, vacuuming, laundry, dishes...CMON. I hate it here. But I'm glad Jack is more chill about danny while he's a ghost, and willing to work with him for this ep. AND. I DID ENJOY JACK PUNCHING VLAD IN THE FACE. AND GENERALLY JUST OWNING HIM. the ghost punchy fists are actually amazing. like yeah, just punch a ghost in the face. that rules.
Tumblr media
-ep 20 opens with the coolest fucking ghost lady design. her tattoos can come off and fight. MA'AM. I like ur nose ring and your cape maam hello 👉👈😳
-sam's grandma is hilarious and the most valid member of her family and I love her. thats my grandma now. and tucker covering for sam by dressing as her. thats true friendship <3 also skipping school to go to a goth circus. just bestie things! sam's parents are haters but for all the wrong reasons.
-'my family has controlled ghosts with this for generations!' WAIT. WAIT FREAKSHOW /ISNT/ A GHOST? I didn't expect that...he's just a fucked up guy controlling ghosts? anyway watching danny shoot at police cars and rob banks while mind controlled. its like, the most stereotypical 'bad' things lmao. (tbh an evil ghost circus troupe is a sick concept)
Tumblr media
this gives off big deviantart emo edit vibes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I'm going to assume evil circus reaper danny has a lot of fan content. people love an edgy au, except this one is canon (even tho its via mind control...having the protag go evil otherwise might be hard, I guess?) but au where he stays with the troupe...that has to exist, right?)
ANYWAY. excited to start s2!! lowkey surprised by how many notes some of these posts have gotten. I've gone back and tagged them all with 'dp thoughts' so they're easier to find on my blog! ^^ and I will probably possibly do (more) fanart on my art blog after I finish the watch of the whole show, so like. @sanchoyodraws follow my art blog :)

for prompt: dick + jason (+ maybe cass?) doing Peak Older Sibling thing of getting tipsy together and complaining about Kids These Days even though they're like in their twenties
Read on AO3
Dick knows it’s time to leave the art show when he’s nearly finished his third glass of champagne. He feels all the warm and bubbly effects from it, and he’s sure that Cass—wherever she is—is probably feeling the same way.
His only problem now is that he’s got to figure out where Cass went. He thinks the last time he saw her is when she disappeared upstairs to the second floor. There’s a projector up there playing a video about god knows what, and Dick has a feeling Cass went up there to watch it to take a people break.
He downs the last of his drink and hands the empty glass off to one of the passing by staff workers before he sets off on his search. He wanders past the wall of paintings he already looked at earlier in the night and heads for the stairs.
A few socialites he’s familiar with from past Wayne galas come up to him and try to stop him for a chat. Dick quickly shakes their hands and schmoozes with them a little for appearance’s sake. He tries to keep things short and polite because he really doesn’t want to get caught up in a thirty-minute conversation.
Thankfully, most people seem to be just as tired and hungry as he is, and they easily let him go when he offhandedly mentions needing to find his sister.
Dick’s halfway up the stairs when he sees Cass appear at the top with slightly flushed cheeks. Her glittery black dress catches in the light and makes her look like a pretty jewel. She smiles at him when their eyes meet, and Dick has to hold back a laugh at the way she throws a hand up and waves at him. He can tell he was right about her being just as tipsy as him.
“Hey!” Dick says excitedly as he finishes walking up to her. He holds up his hand and she high fives him hard enough to make his hand sting. “Ready to go?” he asks, and this time he holds his arm out for her to grab on to so she won’t trip down the stairs in her heels. Not that he can imagine Cass doing something so clumsy, but, well, better to be safe than sorry.
“I’ve been ready,” Cass says a little too loudly, making Dick wince. She links her arm with his, and they slowly make it back to the ground floor without incident.
Dick’s hand brushes Cass’s wrist when they let go of each other, and he frowns at how cold she is. He knows that even though it’s pretty chilly outside, Cass had decided to just wear her sweater inside the art show. She had left her heavier jacket in his car, not wanting to carry it around the show for hours. He wishes she would’ve said something about it so she could’ve grabbed her jacket from his car instead of silently freezing throughout the night.
He shrugs out of his blazer and drapes it around her shoulders. “One warm jacket for the tiny dancer. Need anything else, Miss?”
Cass smiles and slides her arms through the sleeves. She hugs herself close like she’s trying to absorb as much of his leftover body heat as possible.
“I could go for some burgers and fries,” she says as she grabs him by the wrist and tugs him towards the exit.
“Sounds like we’re singing the same tune,” Dick grins and pushes open the door for her to walk through first. “Let’s stop by my car and get your jacket first. We can find somewhere around here to walk to.”
Cass’s brow furrows. “Singing the... what?” She takes the lead and walks alongside the part of the sidewalk that’s not lit up by the street lights. Dick ignores the goosebumps that appear on his arms from the sudden breeze. He follows close behind her and subtly scans the parking lot where his car is parked for any potential danger.
“It means we have the same idea. Like we’re on the same page.”
“Oh!” she says, and Dick quickly realizes that tipsy Cass has a volume control problem, which is a little ironic when he thinks about it. “Yes, we’re totally singing the same tune!” Dick laughs and holds his hand out for another high five. Cass eyes it for a second before smacking his hand even harder.
“You thinking Bat Burger or somewhere else?”
Cass hums. “You ever been to the Bluehouse Bar?”
“No,” Dick says. “Have you?”
“Yeah, once. It was pretty good!”
Dick nods and tries not to look too judgy about her choice. The bar he used to bartend at in Bludhaven ruined his perception of bar food, but maybe this place in Gotham won’t be so bad. Plus, Cass is rarely wrong, and Dick’s willing to trust her opinion on it.
“Is that where you want to go then?” Dick asks right as they make it to his car.
“Yup, I feel like it’s the place to be tonight,” Cass says, and Dick unlocks the door for her.
Dick laughs and lightly whacks her shoulder with the back of his hand. “Are you quoting Harry Potter at me? Is that what’s happening right now?”
“Maybe,” Cass says, voice muffled while she dips inside the car and fishes for her jacket in the back seat.
Dick patiently waits as she switches out his suit jacket for her own jacket, and once she’s properly zipped herself up, she tosses his jacket back to him. Dick easily slides into it, feeling much better now that he’s not as cold.
This time Cass is the one that offers her arm to him and smirks as she says, “One warm jacket for the rocket man. Need anything else, Sir?”
“Yeah,” Dick says and hooks his arm under hers. “Directions on how to get there.”
Cass tugs him forward and says, “Follow me.”
The walk to the bar only ends up being about two blocks away, which isn’t too bad. Dick’s nose is feeling a little frozen. He can tell by Cass’s pink cheeks that she’s feeling chilled as well, but they’ve both dealt with way worse conditions while on patrol to actually complain about it.
Dick can tell why this place is called the Bluehouse Bar as soon as they step inside. The whole place is lit up by blue lights that reflect off the black chairs and tabletops. Even the white napkins and plates on the tables look like they’re glowing with a blue tint.
The lights combined with the loud music and chatter makes everything a little disorienting. Dick’s still trying to get his eyes to adjust to the room when Cass suddenly grips his shoulder and leans close to his ear and says, “Look, it’s Jason!”
Dick whips his head around to where Cass is staring, and sure enough, Jason’s sitting at a table of four by himself, browsing through the menu in his hands. There’s an empty glass of beer in front of him that suggests he’s been here for a while. The Gotham Knights are playing ball on one of the TVs, and Dick has a suspicion that Jason probably came here to watch the game before patrol.
Jason’s wearing his cargo pants and boots. His signature leather jacket is zipped up all the way up to cover the bat emblem on his chest. Dick imagines Jason’s motorcycle is probably parked nearby and has the rest of his Red Hood gear in it.
Cass seems a little tense next to him, and Dick knows it’s because she really doesn’t like Jason that much. They’ve never gotten along for obvious reasons, and Cass only tolerates him when she has to. Dick can hardly remember them even having a conversation beyond “Can you pass the salt?” when they’re all eating breakfast together at the manor once a week.
He’s just about to ask Cass if she wants to go when Jason suddenly looks up and stares right at them. A look of surprise flashes across Jason’s face, and he blinks a few times as if making sure that Dick and Cass are the real deal.
Dick waves without really thinking about it, and Jason responds by motioning for them to come sit at his table.
Cass’s eyes widen slightly like she wants to do anything but that, and Dick flashes her an apologetic look before gently placing his hand on her back and steering her towards Jason’s table. It’s not like they can just ignore Jason and expect him not to take offense to it. Dick’s not willing to make weekly breakfast more awkward than it already is.
“Hey Jay,” Dick says once he’s close enough to the table. He holds his hand up expectantly. Jason eyes it like it’s a rat on fire before he slowly high fives Dick back.
“Hey,” Jason says, and his eyes jump from Cass’s dress to Dick’s suit. “Where the hell did you two just come from?”
Dick lets Cass have the seat between himself and Jason so that she can watch the door more easily, and he takes the seat across from Jason that puts his own back against the door.
“Went to an art show for B and bought some new paintings for the children’s hospital,” Dick says, snagging the menu from Jason and putting it on the table between him and Cass so they can figure out what they want to eat.
“I guess my invite got lost in the mail as per usual,” Jason says.
“You wouldn’t have gone anyway,” Cass says, and Jason recoils at her loud tone.
“Still, I’d like to be asked,” Jason huffs, eyeing Cass warily.
“Will you guys eat the mozzarella sticks if I get them as an appetizer?” Dick asks. The picture of the gooey cheese sticks on the menu makes Dick’s mouth water, and while he’s definitely going to get a burger, he thinks he can make enough room in his stomach for a few mozzarella sticks.
Cass signs “yes” with her fist at the same time that Jason says, “Fuck yeah I will as long as you’re paying.”
“If I’m paying then I get first dibs,” Dick declares.
“Fine.” Jason rolls his eyes and slumps in his seat. “You two better be ready to order as soon as the waitress gets back. She doesn’t come around much.”
“You’re telling me,” Dick says while enviously eyeing the waiter who’s taking people’s orders at the table across from theirs.
All of a sudden, Dick feels a finger tapping against his shoulder. He tenses and turns in his seat. A young looking woman with blonde hair is standing behind him. The silver bangles around her wrist jingle as she nervously pushes her long hair out of her face. Dick can see that she’s looking back and forth between him and Cass.
“Hi! Sorry for interrupting!” she says. “But are you Dick Wayne and Cassandra Wayne?”
Jason snorts so loud that Dick’s surprised he doesn’t give himself an aneurysm.
“Dick Wayne,” Jason wheezes quietly, and the girl blushes furiously as if realizing her mistake.
“Don’t mind him,” Dick says. He places his hand on the girl’s shoulder and gives it a little squeeze to soothe her embarrassment. “Trust me, I’ve been called worse,” he smiles. She blushes again for a whole different reason this time. Dick ignores it and eyes her phone in her hand. “Did you want a picture?”
“Oh my god, yeah, if you wouldn’t mind that would be great!”
“Sure thing,” Dick says, taking her phone from her. “What’s your name?”
“Brooke,” the girl says.
“Hi, Brooke! I love your dress,” Cass says in that cool way of hers, and Brooke stutters out her thanks.
“Don’t forget to turn on the flash,” Dick says as he tosses the phone to Jason, who catches it with a squawk.
Dick drapes his arm around Brooke’s shoulders while Cass wraps her arm around Brooke’s waist. They all smile, and Jason begrudgingly takes a few pictures of them. Dick’s pretty sure he hears Jason making a comment under his breath about being happy he’s considered dead to the world so he doesn’t have to go through this shit, and then the pictures are done.
Jason hands the phone back over and Brooke thanks him. Dick expects her to go back to her table, but instead, she asks, “Hey, would you guys want to be in my TikTok?”
“What’s TikTok?” Cass signs to Jason.
Jason starts to explain it to her in ASL, clearly leaving Dick to deal with Brooke.
“Sorry, we’re not allowed to,” Dick lies. “I hope you understand.”
“Oh totally, yeah,” Brooke says with a nod of her head. She looks a little confused about why they’re apparently not allowed to do TikToks, but she doesn’t question it. “No worries! Just thought I’d ask!” She smiles and Dick smiles back at her. “Thanks for the pictures! I love you guys!”
“No problem,” Dick says, holding his hand up to her. Brooke high fives him back, her touch gentle like she’s scared of hurting him. “Bye!”
Brooke waves to them all and then finally leaves their table. As soon as she’s out of earshot, Jason crosses his arms over his chest and says, “What’s up with kids and TikTok these days? Do you know how many people have cosplayed as me and made me do dumb shit like the renegade dance? Or worse... the whip! The whip, Dick! The whip!”
“Poor you,” Dick laughs. “Forced to do trendy dances that sully your reputation.”
“Shut up,” Jason huffs. “Pretty sure I saw one of Nightwing doing the WAP challenge.”
Dick raises a brow and says, “I have no idea what that means.”
He sees Cass perk up out of the corner of his eye and realizes why as soon as he sees a waitress coming towards them.
“Finally,” Cass mutters.
Dick grabs her hand excitedly and shakes it back and forth.
“Mozzarella sticks here we come!”

FAIRY-TALE LOVE ♡
*One Shot*
PAIRING : DINO X READER
WORDS : 2k
TROPE : BEST FRIENDS, SOFT, CRUSH , SCHOOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I looked at him again and he is still the same. I know he is way out of my league that’s why I don’t even try talking to him. I am already so bad at conversations. Thank goodness I can catch a glimpse of his everyday as his practice studio is exactly opposite to the cafeteria. Looking at him dancing is the best part of my day.
He finished his practice and then I got up to leave when suddenly out of nowhere a basketball hit me and I fell on the ground. I was unconscious. When I got up I am inside a room full of mirror and then my eyes met his. Damn where have I landed. I tried to get up and he supported my back
“Are you okay ?” he asked. His voice is also mesmerizing as his dancing is.
I couldn’t say anything so I just nodded.
“That’s good then are you hurt anywhere?” his voice was full of concern. I started feeling heat in my cheeks. I looked down I can’t let him see how flushed I was.
“Yeah I am okay, I should better leave it’s already pretty late.” I said in one breathe I can’t get more embarrassed and I have to go as soon as possible.
“Oh okay then as you wish.” He said and helped me stand up and when he loosened his grip I felt the pain in my ankle. I guess I sprained it.
“It seems like you sprained your ankle. Let me help you to your place.” What! He will take me with him to my house.
I spoke as fast as possible,” no it’s okay I can manage I can go home by myself.”
He was stubborn. He replied,” no I can’t I know how much ankle sprain pains moreover my work is all done so I am on my way home I can drop you easily.”
I don’t know how to counter this. So I didn’t say anything. He started packing up his things and then came to help me.
He put his arms around me supporting me to walk but my ankle was hurting so bad I couldn’t even stand properly let alone walk.
He sighed,” this won’t work. Give me your bag and let me give you a piggyback ride.”
I was shook. What he is gonna carry me on his back. Is this some kind of a dream? I was lost in thoughts when he spoke again waving his hands in front of my face.
“Are you there? Give me your bag; it’s already getting dark so we should better leave before we get locked in.”
I handed him my bag. My heart was pounding so much as if it will burst out of me. When he suddenly lowered and told me to climb on his back. I was so nervous but I didn’t have any option.
It really was feeling like a dream your one and only crush is giving you a piggyback ride is no less than a fairy tale.
We were going when he started the conversations,” I am Lee Chan but people calls me Dino so you can call me that too. What’s your name?”
“Y/N” I said only that much I was scared I might embarrass myself again.
He replied,” that’s a lovely name. By the way don’t you talk much? Why are you so silent I am blabbering since we met. “
I smiled he is way too sweet.
He made some small talks till we reach my room he left me there gave me his number and told me to contact him everyday till I get better. I am blushing so hard since he left. I mean how couldn’t I. he is my longest crush and we became friends it’s like my dream came true.
I was thinking about him looking at his picture when I fell asleep with my phone on my hand.
 [ NEXT DAY]
I reached late in school and our professor clearly told us if we are late to class he won’t allow us. So I decided to spend my time in the cafeteria reading and also I have skipped breakfast so I thought of eating something.
I ordered a burger and a coke and took it to sit in my corner seat as usual when I heard someone calling my name.
“Y/N, hey!!” it was Dino. His cheerful voice already made my face brightened up. He reached me with his breakfast.
 “Hi Dino.” I said smiling.
He came and sat in front of me with is breakfast and spoke,” did you also skipped your breakfast. But I am glad you did, it made us meet again. And how is you ankle now?”
“Yeah I kind of woke up late so I had to skip breakfast and yeah I am quite good now.” I managed to say this much thankfully.
“Thank God you are okay now and why didn’t you call me I told you to call me “he pouted.
“I am fine now. And I was feeling better so I didn’t called you.” I started eating my food.
He then spoke,” Actually I might be a little clingy with you cause I really want to be friends I don’t have any friends and  all my friends were my seniors who already graduated and since then I started feeling lonely so can we be friends ?” his eyes were beaming with happiness.
I was looking at him surprised and my mouth full of food. He asked me to be his friend. I need someone to pinch me is this happening for real. I am going to be friends with THE LEE CHAN, whom I secretly crushed upon since my first day here. Without receiving any answer he shook my arm. I got out of my thoughts and nodded while smiling. I shouldn’t let him see me blushing.
He squeaked in happiness,” Yeah I finally got a friend.”
I looked at him he was then munching his food happily. Looking at him made my heart flutter and also nervous. He just wanted us to be friends then will I be able to hide my feelings.
 [TIME SKIP TO 4 MONTHS]
It’s been a few months since Dino and I became friends and it is really getting difficult for me to control my feelings. The way he put his arms around me makes my heart flutter but I can’t even do anything. I don’t want to spoil our friendship cause of my stupid feelings. Moreover it’s almost time for the end of the school I am sure I won’t cross paths with him so it’s better to hide my feelings now. But to be honest it is really painful.
We were sitting at the bench where we spend most of our evenings after his practice and were discussing what we want to do after school. He was looking a bit upset since a week but whenever I ask him what happened he usually shrugs it off saying nothing. Even he is acting a bit weird. He straightway ignored me for three days then came back normal. I am getting anxious thinking did he figured out how I feel and is it because of that he is kind of ignoring me. But again if he is ignoring me why is he worried what I ate or not I guess I am thinking too much.
He broke the awkward silence between us,” Hey Y/N I never asked you this but I am curious , umm… do you like anyone ?”
I choked on the air I was breathing I mean did he really figured out how I feel what is this sudden interrogation. I nodded a yes. I don’t want to lie to him though.
He looked disappointed but why is he. I asked him the same question. He nodded too. I guess now I got a reason to move on.
He replied,” I liked her since a few months you know she was there when no one was with me. When my day ended and I was super exhausted she was there to cheer me up and give me strength. I never knew my liking will soon change into love but I guess I am not that lucky in this case.”
I wanted him to stop I can’t take it anymore I can’t listen him talking about someone with such affection and care I know I shouldn’t feel this way but I am feeling utterly jealous now. I wanted to leave I can’t fight my tears back. I want to vanish right now.
“ I wish I would have told her a little sooner maybe then I could have called her mine now.” He stopped then again spoke,” I am feeling really jealous for the guy she likes I wish I can steal her away what do you think?” he looked at me with his puppy eyes.
I tried not to cry and spoke,” If you really love her that much then steal her away. At least tell her so that you won’t regret later on. If she rejects you then you can move on and if she accepts then it’s great.”
I was giving him these advices which I should have also tried but no I am not that brave. I can’t take it anymore so I got up and about to leave,” OK Dino I am leaving I remember I have some work so bye will see you later.”
I didn’t even gave him a chance to speak I can’t hold my tears anymore they started falling on my cheeks I can’t turn back if I will then I will destroy everything and suddenly I was stopped he was holding me back by my wrist.
“Why are you leaving let me complete Y/N.” he said and came forward and damn he saw me crying.
“Why are you crying did I hurt you in any way I am sorry what happened please don’t cry.” He was extremely worried I looked at him and then again started leaving when I was stopped by him again.
“Okay please listen to me once and then leave I can’t bottle it up inside me anymore, you know the girl I was talking about earlier don’t you want to know who is she?”
I was looking at him with teary eyes okay I will listen to him and then I will vanish it might help me move on.
 “It’s you.” He paused.
Did I hear it correctly or am I hallucinating. He again spoke,” I liked you since the day I met you but I couldn’t be brave and tell you so I was pretending and then I fell in love with you it became difficult for me to be with you while hiding my feelings. So I ignored you but then I couldn’t live without you so I decided to tell you but I didn’t know you like someone. I know I stand no chance and I don’t expect you to reciprocate my feelings it’s just to let you know how I feel.”
Before he could say anything I started crying badly kneeling down he too came on his knees and hugged me and was comforting me,” I am sorry Y/N I didn’t mean to hurt you this much I am really sorry don’t cry please it’s breaking me to see you cry please I will go away if you want.”
I was holding him tightly and spoke feebly,” you didn’t hurt me Chan it’s because I am happy beyond any measure cause I love you too. I liked you since the first day I laid my eyes on you but I thought you were out of my league and then we became friends. I thought of many times to tell you but then I thought you don’t like me and I thought it might destroy our friendship. And when earlier you said you like someone this much it hurt me so bad that I couldn’t resist so I was leaving. But it feels like a dream Chan I really love you and-“I was then suddenly stopped as his lips crashed on mine.
He was still holding me tightly and the way he kissed I felt fireworks everywhere. I never knew I would see this day when my one true love asked me out. I found my forever prince charming and I guess fairy tales do exist.

___________________________
When they arrived at Hell’s kitchen, folks cleared out of the Avatar of Gluttony’s way. Lena barely caught on to the many eyes drawn their way. She was famished and excited for her first dining-out experience in the Devildom.
“Your usual table is read-” Beel whizzed past the waiter, “-y.”
“Uhm, thank you…” Lena awkwardly nodded and quickly followed after the giant. She was afraid of not getting to eat anything on the account that he would clean them out of everything. That’s what Leviathan and Satan had warned them about earlier when they were shopping for room decor.
Speaking of the dev….you know, Satan and Mammon entered the place, causing the rest of the customers to flinch and stare with panic at their state. The blonde had caught a hold of his older brother’s jacket collar and was leading him, in his disheveled glory, to the waiter. There were many words exchanged. And soon, the owner of the establishment arrived with the check they were both after.
The rest of the group had managed to meet up with the more excited ones, filing in quietly, like normal customers. “There you are…” Simeon said, being the first to spot Lena and Beel. She was peeking over at his menu, asking questions about the ingredients.
“Was it really necessary to make a mad dash like that Lena? You’re making us look bad…” Zak looked embarrassed.
Lilly chuckled as she took her usual seat across from Lena. “If you’re worried about images that way, you picked the wrong crowd to hang with.”
“She’s right! These demon brothers are always causing scenes. Usually it’s over being selfish!” Luke added. The little pup took a liking to Zak after some demon started teasing him in the hallway, on the way to their next class. Simeon was busy talking with Solomon and Satan about their homework, so Zak was the only one around to aid him.
When everyone was seated, drinks were served. The group's banter filled the establishment and it felt like a cozy pub in an RPG, as Lena described to Leviathan sitting to her right. The group ordered so much, the owner had to start turning away other patrons. Then walked in the trio. You know, only the most intimidating demons in all of the Devildom.
“Wow! Fancy meeting all of you here!” Lord Diavolo boasted.
Lucifer gave a long sigh and glared at him with the response, “You knew they were all going to be here didn’t you? That’s why you were so insistent on it.”
Both Diavolo and Barbatos deflected Lucifer’s words and began to take a seat at the adjacent table from the large group. Grumpy joined them and the waiter rushed promptly to get their orders. The poor young demon looked so nervous, and who could blame him?
~
The saying “Time flies by when you’re having fun” was no joke. This band of misfits: demons, humans, angels, and nephilim were having a blast! There were many jokes at one another’s expense, slight bickering, questions about each others’ worlds. It was the exact thing that the exchange program was about. Then came the food.
One waiter brought an actual pyramid of burgers to Beelzebub; his personal platter. Another waiter was in charge of drink refills. It was quite a mess with everyone together; Save for Luke, Lilly, and Lena the rest were freaking giants. It was hard getting food passed around to the 14 people and 1 Beel.
The previously mentioned nervous waiter was now carrying a serving tray towards the Big Three’s table. Just as he made it in front of him, Mammon quickly scooted back without looking as he yelled at Satan about his check again.
The back of the chair smacked right into the poor, unfortunate waiter. It caused him to lose balance and the tray to teeter out of his hands. It was a scene shot in slow-mo like many movies: The plates left the tray, Lucifer’s eyes were so wide, and Diavolo was caught totally off guard.
Before the food could splatter all over the prince, Lena rushed to catch everything. Her secret ability was revealed in an instant: She was fast like a comic hero. But unlike them, she wasn’t the most agile. She did manage to get the tray and get the plates back on, but she stumbled backwards, slipping on Mammon’s dropped napkin.
Her eyes were squinted shut as she braced for impact. It felt...odd. She definitely landed, but there was no hard, cold floor. No broken glass sounds. In fact she knew she still had the tray of food in her head.
When she opened her eyes, Lena saw Diavolo towering over her at an odd angle. The whole place was silent enough to hear a pin needle drop. What the fu…
“Are you okay Lena?” The prince asked.
“I don’t know if I’m being honest with you…” she looked around to see her whole table just gawking at her dumbfoundedly.
Next she took in Lucifer’s bewildered expression, followed by Barbatos. Though, he of course remained the most neutral. What’s the deal?
Then it hit her. Diavolo’s angle. He was over her. No, he was embracing her! The giant of a man had caught her just as quickly as she had caught the food from falling on him. Their current position was probably the reason why everyone was quiet. Well that, and the fact everything happened in a nanosecond.
No, Lena and Diavolo looked like they had just danced one wild tango number and ended on a dramatic dip. It was hot. Or would have been without the fucking tray of burgers and fries. Sorry, DEMON burgers and fries. For someone as stark white as she was, Lena turned red like a lobster. Diavolo even had a tiny blush that only she could see from her proximity.
“MAAAMMMOOOOOOOONNN!!!” Lucifer closed the silence with his deep, booming voice. Everyone either laughed, took pictures, or hid their faces in embarrassment as the eldest brothers made a wild game of “TAG! You’re Fucking Dead!!!”
It was a good thing too. Well, not for Mammon of course. In that moment, Barbatos assisted Lena, by taking the tray. Diavolo raised her carefully to stand back onto her feet.
“Thank you, for saving dinner and my uniform.” Diavolo chuckled.
Lena gave a sheepish smile, “And thank you for saving my uniform, and the bill for the table I would have broken.”
The rest of dinner went off without a hitch. They laughed at the pictures they managed to capture. Lilly questioned Lena about what happened and she explained to everyone that nephilim are extremely fast. They also each had an ability unique to themselves. Though she and her brothers teased the rest of the group by not telling them what those abilities were.
“Well, it looks like both Lucifer and Mammon aren’t coming back,” Azri said, taking Lucifer’s seat. He was tired of having a sleeping Belphegor trying to use his shoulder as a pillow to drool on. “I’ll box his up for one of them to take back.”
“That’s generous of you.” Barbatos replied, giving a small hint of a smile.
Azri chuckled, “It is, especially after hearing that he put my darling sister in a filthy attic with no amenities…” That didn’t go past big brother Azri. “If I may, can I skip class tomorrow in order to fix things up for her?”
Barbatos and Diavolo exchanged looks before glancing over at Lena, who had moved seats to take funny pictures with and of the sleeping Belphegor.
“I know you’re wondering why I don’t just let her do it.” Azri continued, “Something happened with her not long before she finally agreed to come here. Obviously we’re a year late to the program. I don’t want to dish out her personal stuff, but I want to do something nice for her.” He finished packing Lucifer’s dinner and added, “I also can’t stand the thought of her sleeping in a room filled with cobwebs! And I know she will do a half-ass job at cleaning it herself!”
That made Diavolo chuckle and he compared the eldest nephilim to Barbatos.
“I am not that bad, Lord Diavolo. It’s my job to ensure you're catered to and well taken care of. A prince can’t live in dirty quarters…” Barbatos responded. Although he held a smile, Azriel could see the fury in his eyes. It made him chuckle.
*****
“Le, stop that! You’ll get in trouble….again!” Zak scolded, though unable to keep from laughing. Lena was holding her phone so it looked like she was petting Belphegor’s head like a puppy while he slept.
“He looks so cute though!!!” she stuck her tongue out at her brother.
Luke sighed, “It seems that you’re as bad as Asmo…”
“I wonder…” Asmo replied teasingly, before winking and giving Lena a kissy face from across the table. She chuckled and playfully returned the kiss.
“What does that even mean?” Luke asked innocently. It caught Zak off guard. He wasn’t used to being around innocent kiddos like him. Simeon intervened, however, much to the nephilim’s relief. He wasn’t sure why the kid followed him around so much.
*****
When the group was finished with their meal, Diavolo picked up the check. He and Barbatos headed out first because they had a busy schedule ahead of them the next day. “Good night everyone!” he chuckled and waved.Several of them returned the wave and thanked him. Lena couldn’t help but blush a little when their eyes met briefly.
“Mmmh-hmmm, I saw that.” Lilly whispered, giving a mischievous grin at the nephilim.
Lena shot the human a look, “What are you even talking about?”
“Oh I saw it too Lilly. I feel a little jealous now.” Asmodeus joined in. He puffed out his bottom lip, fake pouting at Lena.
“Oh fuck off. The both of you…” she grumbled, still blushing.
The group eventually had to split off into those who would go to Purgatory Hall and those that resided in The House of Lamentation. Before they did, Zak hugged Lena and told her good night. Azriel did the same, but revealed something that annoyed her.
~
“Lilly, let me crash on your sofa tonight please.” She gritted as they entered the house.
Asmo pouted, “But why Darling? I thought you liked snuggling with me…”
Lena sighed and nodded, “I actually do, Asmo. It’s just that I don’t want your pretty room to be engulfed in flames in the morning…”
The group stared at the nephilim with shock and worry. Well, Belphegor didn’t because he was passed-out and being carried off to bed by a sulking Beel, who wasn’t full.
“Azri got permission to skip school tomorrow in order to remodel my bedroom.” Lena sighed, “It is absolutely sweet of him, but anything design-related...well you saw him shopping today. He goes fucking nuts. I bet he will rush in before sunrise to start.”
Lilly scratched her head. “And what about the flames?”
“Well, we’ve not known each other long enough for him to feel it appropriate that I share a bed with someone in this house...even though it’s clearly none of his fucking business. I’m a grown ass woman.”
“Yeah you are!” Lilly chimed.
“If it’s none of his business, then why the concern?” It was Satan who asked this time.
“He’s already going to be in his weird-ass mood, so the shock and insinuation would cause him to snap. It’s happened more times than I can count.” Lena sulked and shook her head.
“OOOH! So then maybe Azriel’s unique ability is pyrokinetics then?” Leviathan asked with excitement, “Like El Lumino from the Revengers comic! He gets mad and accidentally burns things like Mrs. Magnificent hover jet in The New Revengers Vol 13, issue 42: El Lumino’s Ultra Bad Day!”
Lena hesitated, but eventually nodded. “Yeah. That’s like him alright. Now, don’t get me wrong. He is progressive. He’s a chill brother, who is the most responsible one of us. It’s just when “Crazy Azri” comes out, he is too unpredictable to take any chances. If ‘overprotective brother mode’ is activated, all bets are off.” It was really embarrassing.
“He did look pretty intense back at Majolish.” Lilly nodded, remembering his trance. “But then again, I recall someone else acting like a total zombie…” She and the brothers laughed at Lena.
“Ha ha. Very funny...oh wait! The clothes!!!!” Lena zoomed up the stairs. To the others, she simply blinked out of existence.
“She’s...gone?” Satan pondered.
“Don’t underestimate the power of fashion, Satan.” Asmo chuckled, “She’s probably swimming through all of those bags in her room…”
The brothers decided to all split up for the night, returning to their own rooms. Each one of them had a small bag from Majolish hanging on their door knobs; a gift from Lena for “putting up with her during the exchange program”. They each had a tie that matched their aesthetic. Of course Satan’s was a bow tie and Asmo had a pretty Lolita-style cravat.
Lilly took both Lucifer’s and Mammon’s dinners to their rooms. Neither one had made it back, which meant it might be a couple of days before they’d get to see Mammon again. Ouch!
When she went to her room, she found Lena sitting on her couch in her pajamas with a new pillow and Hell-o Kitty blanket she’d bought on that landmark shopping trip. She had a slightly revealing tank with a skull made out of flowers and booty shorts on. Lilly bit her lip and marched straight to her bed. Why?! She asked herself. Well, they were in hell and this had to be her personal torture lingering around her room in sexy nightwear. Well anything would look sexy on Lena.

Day 7 - Domestic
The moment you feel at home is when you start decorating the house. Dean had been repeating this to Sam ever since they had officially established their headquarters in the Men of Letters bunker. First of all, he began by displaying his favorite weapons in his room: his sawed-off shotgun, the machete he had made in Purgatory, a grenade launcher, his father’s fighting knives, his first stake… Quickly, the souvenir albums had left Baby’s trunk to weigh down the drawers of his bedside table.
Sam ended up imitating him by putting his clothes in the closet first, then his computer pouch in the desk, and finally he ended up storing countless books and tapes in boxes by his bed. Dean had obviously taken over the kitchen as quickly as possible and built his famous "Dean Cave" while Sam could spend whole nights devouring every book in the library or archives.
Castiel had also inherited a room — although it was rarely occupied — and was particularly fond of the calm of the infirmary, watching over one of the two brothers when necessary. Jack, for his part, was in the only house he had ever known and cherished every wall in this underground lair.
However, everyone agreed that the refrigerator was undoubtedly their favorite part of the bunker. The Men of Letters' was not a simple American fridge with two doors, nor even a fridge with a minibar option. No, their refrigerator was absolutely gigantic, with several doors dug directly into the wall and at least two meters of metal in width.
Of course, the food gets everybody to agree —especially when Dean felt like making his own handmade burgers— but that wasn’t the only reason this family was particularly fond of the fridge. It was not so much what was in it that found grace in their eyes, but what was on it.
The first person to hang anything on it was Sam. Tired of having to repeat to his brother to buy vegetables, he had then written a precise shopping list before hanging it with a magnet on the door containing the beers, certain that Dean would fall face to face with it before the end of the day. In response, Dean had hung another post-it on a lower door saying, "Here, rabbit man."
Soon after, Jack felt confident enough to hang one of his drawings, then another. Castiel had happily added the menu of this Chinese restaurant on the outskirts of Lebanon where the Winchesters loved to order after finishing a case. Dean had pinned a few handwritten recipes and Sam was again the first to put a picture of the four of them in the library, playing board games. Months later, Dean solemnly hung his wedding announcement with Castiel below the date of their first kiss, lovingly scribbled on a piece of paper. Little by little, the fridge was filled with memories and post-it notes, a fresco of their lives spread out among the gates of the metal surface.
It was past midnight when Sam decided to have a pick-me-up to continue his search among the archives. He proceeded as usual to his reserved part of the refrigerator when a bright yellow post-it attracted his attention. He knew every photo on this fridge so well that the slightest new element was now popping into his eyes and he came closer to read what it was saying.
"I’m sorry. Can we talk?"
It was definitely Dean’s handwriting. Sam frowned, the cogs of his brain creaking in his head. He hadn’t had a fight with his brother recently, it was barely if he’d seen him for the last two days. Jack had been on vacation with Jody since the beginning of the week and Castiel had left the bunker for… oh.
Dean and Castiel had a fight five days ago. Sam had not really understood the reason for the argument, the two of them shouting at each other behind closed doors before they remained silent for hours. This was the reason why Dean had been locked up in his room since Tuesday and that Castiel only came back from time to time to wander like a lost soul before leaving for an indefinite period. This message was therefore not addressed to him, Sam realized. It was a cry for help from his brother to Castiel. Although the angel did not need to drink or eat, it was true that he particularly liked to look at the refrigerator whenever he could as a reminder of why he called this place "his home".
Sam pinched his lips and decided not to interfere. It was something between his brother and his best friend and he would be there if they asked him for support, but not before. Although troubled, Sam grabbed a beer and a few cherry tomatoes before leaving the kitchen.
To his surprise, the first post-it did not stay on the refrigerator very long. The following day he had been replaced by a note written with much more careful writing despite the austerity of the words.
"You said everything you had to say and so did I."
A cold anger sweated in Castiel’s words. Sam was still in the kitchen when Dean made his entrance, heading for the food first as usual. He was also present when his brother’s eyes fell on the note and he froze to read it in silence. A few seconds later, Dean unpinned the post-it before wrinkling it and throwing it in the trash. He returned to his room without even getting the breakfast he had come to fetch.
"I’m an idiot. Please pick up your phone." Said the following note three days later accompanied by a photo of Dean and Castiel wearing reindeer antennas for Christmas that they had celebrated with family two years earlier. Sam recognized Dean’s trembling hand behind every word.
Sam soon found himself opening the refrigerator more often than usual simply to find out how his brother and Castiel were progressing in their fight, worried about each one of them. Dean was still  as silent as a tomb about it and he hadn’t seen Castiel for a week now. Whatever happened between them, it was by far the longest argument the couple has had to date.
Dean’s last note remained unanswered.
When Sam opened the fridge door one morning to take milk, the post-it had been replaced by another still written by Dean.
"Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, Elton John"
Sam could not help a small smile from appearing on his face. Dean had always been more gifted with music than words, but the mere fact that he chose Elton John showed something fragile and sincere. Sam hoped Castiel would get the hint. Just below this post-it was pinned a photo of their fingers intertwined, the bright wedding rings to their fingers, as well as a large black feather.
Indeed, the next day, Dean’s note was still there, but this time accompanied by a second piece of paper with an address.
"716 E Montana Ave, 1312, Baker. Room 17. You’re the One that I Want, Grease."
Not more than an hour later, Dean had gathered his belongings and was already finding an excuse to Sam when this one cut him off. They exchanged a look which they alone knew the secret before Dean nodded and fondly patted his shoulder. The next minute, the Impala’s engine was growling in the garage before moving away, leaving Sam free to go and have breakfast with Jack in the kitchen.
When Dean returned two days later, it was with Castiel next to him and a weight off their shoulders. Sam sent them a simple, gentle smile before going to hug his brother and Castiel. When he got up to bring them beers, he noticed that the post-its had not left the refrigerator. However, no one ever removed them afterwards.
The family simply added other memories as life slowly resumed in the bunker.

Tumblr media
3 days.
It had been 3 days since the two of you were kiss-blocked by the present and former #1 heroes. And here you were, chilling in your apartment. Wrapped like a burrito in your bed. You couldn’t remember the last time you had done this. The weather was just too perfect to resist the burrito-ness.
Today was a miracle. A day off with zero notifications in the last 7 hours. Sure, it was past 12 noon and that you should prepare lunch, there was just this irrational fear that once you step out, some villain attack would happen again.
Nope. No. You would rather stay in your home and starve. Or maybe just order take out. Unburrito-ing yourself, you rolled over to your nightstand and took your phone. You felt your cheeks blush at the sight of your new wallpaper.
You and Hawks hugging. His cheek squished as he leaned his head on yours. Framing the picture were his wings. Uneven but still gorgeous nonetheless. You had to hand it to the man, despite him looking goofy, he was still sexy. Your mind couldn’t help but think, how in the world did you manage to lure him?
Clicking on the FoodBear app, you scrolled past restaurants and fast food chains. What were you in the mood for? Pizza and a burger. Yes. Perfect.
Sitting up, you began to choose the flavor and type of burger till the home screen changed.
The picture of Hawks replacing it. Your heart raced at the thought of him calling you.
“Hey baby bird!” Hawks greeted over the phone. It was a tad noisy so you were sure he was calling and flying.
“Pidgy, don’t fly and call at the same time.” You teased him but the tone in your voice gave it away. It was difficult to suppress your happiness when it came to this birdman. “What can I do to help you?”
“The question is, how can I help you? You eaten lunch yet, babe?”
‘Oh lord that babe hit different’ You fangirled internally. Fanning yourself with your free hand in hopes to cool off the heat on your face.
“Not yet. You bringing some food over?”
“Yeah.” You swore he was smirking on the other line. “Me.”
“Hawks, I swear to god if you don’t bring me a slice of pizza and a burger I will eat y-” Shutting your mouth, you almost fell into his trap. Not that you’d mind. Real food was simply top priority for now.
“Now wouldn’t that be the perfect reason not to but take out?” He laughed. For you, it was such music to your ears. Your heart swelled knowing you made him happy. “Get dressed lovebird. I’m takin’ you out on a date.”
“Oh.” Your eyes fell on your messy wardrobe. Shit. “How long till you arrive?”
“I’m already outside. How convenient you have a balcony, am I right?” He ended the call.
“Hawks?” You yelled out from your room.
“Right here baby!” He responded. God damn, he really was here. “Take your time unless you want me to help you change!”
Face palming yourself, the thought of him laying on your bed, pinning you down, wasn’t that bad. But still, the two of you hadn’t even kissed yet so might as well go on a date with him.
Standing up, you went out of your room only to be met by Hawks lounging on your sofa. Wings slightly open to make him rest his back. His hair was even messier from behind but still looked as soft as ever.
“Let me just shower and we can take our leave, okay?”
Turning to face you, he smirked at the sight before him. You, in an oversized shirt that hung just above your thighs. Your black shorts showing enough leg to tease him right.
“I envy the me in your shirt.” He pointed out while extending an arm to tug on your shirt.
Your eyes widened when you remembered this was the Hawks merch Ryukyu got you for the jokes. After that day, it had been your favorite. Not just for the person on the shirt but because the size was amazing and the material was breezy.
“Maybe if you play your cards right, this could end up being you.” You teased back. Booping his nose causing his golden eyes to expand. The hold on your shirt seemingly tightened.
“Damn. You flirty when you got no food in your system, chickadee~” Hawks commented as he lifted himself off the couch and landed right in front of you. His eyes exploring your face, lingering on your lips, but going back to your eyes. His hands now nested on your waist.
‘Okay. Think this through. If y'all were to do the devil’s tango now, that would mean your body would look bomb because you haven’t eaten anything. But, I’m so fucking hungry. Like is this worth the messy sheets? Hell yeah it is But pizza sounds so good right now...!’ You monologue in your mind.
Placing your palms on his stomach, you could feel his toned abs and how he flexed just to ensure victory. Sliding them upwards, you fet the bumps of his bodysuit’s yellow linings. Your eyes never leaving his.
Hawks gritted his teeth. The next thing he knew, he picked you up and carried you all the way to your kitchen counter. He wished he had taken his gloves off so he could feel just how soft your skin was. With your legs hugging his waist, this was all too perfect.
“You sure it’s pizza and burgers you want?” He leaned in closer. Using the tip of his nose, he began to trail your cheek and his lips hovered above yours. Pulling himself away from you, your throat ran dry when he used his mouth to remove his gloves.Tossing them to the couch, he used his thumb to trace your lower lip.
“Maybe if you push a little more,” Your arms now snaked around his neck. Bringing him closer to you. “Perhaps my appetite may change.”
Leaning his forehead on yours, his half hooded eyes remained glued to yours. His breathing was slow and heavy as he pulled you in closer. Giving him the invitation, you wrapped your legs even tighter. Licking his lips, his smirk was the last thing you saw before the two of you closed your eyes.
And then your stomach grumbled.
‘Motherfucker…’
‘Rotten Nuggets…’
The two of you stopped right when your lower and upper lips brushed against each other. Warm breaths grazing your skins.
“Are you for real?...” Hawks complained but his voice was amused. He placed both palms on your cheeks and squished them. “You ruined the moment babe!”
He began to stomp his foot like a small child. Your legs moving along his rather cute tantrum. His feathers began to ruffle as well. Pulling you into a hug, he nuzzled on the side of your head. A disappointed sigh coming out of his mouth.
“I’m sorry. I’ll take full responsibility for that, nugget.” You hugged him back. Only making him squirm more and whine.
“That would’ve been the perfect first kiss for the both of us~” He said as he pulled himself away to look at your flushed face. “But, it’s alright. Now go and take a bath before I make my feathers rip your clothes apart…”
Following his orders, you released him from your hold and went back to your room. Pissed and embarrassed at how your stomach chose to betray you.
Moments passed and you were now dressed. Closing the door to your room, you saw Hawks rummaging through your fridge. His wings were full once more. It gave you relief knowing he could fully perform his duties once more. Not that there was a need to worry, he was the number 2 so he’s surely more capable of more.
“Your fridge needs more chicken.” He commented. Pivoting to face you. In his mouth, a juice pack. “Ready?”
“Yeah.” You replied. Waving your matching headphones and visors he had given you a few months back.
Throwing the empty pack, he took your hand and led you to your balcony. The weather had improved and the dark gray clouds from earlier were replaced by clear blue skies and the afternoon sun.
“How do you want it? Bridal style? Or my signature bear hug?” He asked as he put on his gloves. His brows furrowed at the memory of a failed first kiss.
“I think bridal would be nice.”
Taking the headphones from you, he placed them on your head and paused to admire his handiwork. The way the sun cast light on your (e/c) made his heart flutter. Cupping your cheek, he smirked when they began to show a taint of redness.
“So beautiful…”
Placing an arm on your back and bending slightly to place the other one on the bend of your knees, he was all too happy when you rested your arms on his shoulders. Stretching his wings out, he adored the way your eyes sparkled.
Letting a stray feather loose, Hawks made the feather brush against your lip and made it land on his.
“Ah. An indirect kiss!” He teased. Flapping his wings making you both float. “Can’t wait for the real deal after lunch~”
“Keigo!” You playfully punched his chest. Your arms tighten as he flew the both of you farther and farther from your unit.
“Don’t call me that unless we’re in your bed or mine, baby!” He managed to wink as he pulled you in closer.
Choosing not to reply, the rest of the ride was nothing but comfortable silence. It only lasted for a few minutes till he landed and placed you back on your feet. Your eyes opened up and your jaw dropped when you saw where he had taken you.
“And don’t worry about distractions, chickadee.” Hawks said with his arms making a circle. “I booked the place all to ourselves.”
“The whole planetarium?!”
“Yes.” Lacing his fingers with yours, he led the way and opened the door for you.
Before entering the main room, he took you to the snack bar and ordered what you had been craving for. A slice of pizza, a burger, chicken wings, a medium soda for the two of you, and a pack of mints. Ushering you to the tables, he placed the food down and pulled the chair for you to sit.
“Gotta let that stomach of yours eat before we see the main event.” He said as he attacked the wings.
“You’re never going to let that go, are you?”
“Never.”
Small talk happened as the two of you ate. The moment the last bite happened, he handed you a mint as he took one as well. You couldn’t help but snort at how prepared he wanted to be. Though, you would be lying if you weren’t thinking of going to the women’s toilet to freshen up.
The doors were now facing the two of you. His hands finding yours once more. Opening the doors, your eyes wandered across the dome and the projector located in the middle. The room was already dim and your heart raced with excitement at the thought of staring at the stars up close.
Choosing the back half of the theater, the two of you made your way to the middle seats. Once you two were comfy, he clapped his hands and the room was now pitch black. The theater dome began to show the projectors image. Putting your arm around his, you couldn’t help but smile at Hawks for bringing you here. Wearing your goggles, you leaned on his shoulder and watched the show.
As the show came to the middle part, you were fascinated with the vibrant colors of the different galaxies, Hawks kept his eyes on you. Taking his goggles, he tossed them to the empty seat and took a deep breath.
“(Y/N)?”
Tearing your eyes from the view, you were now face to face with something much better. Letting Hawks take your goggles off, he shifted his position so he could fully face you. Imitating his actions, you felt a small push on your back. No need to look knowing that was his wing.
“You like our date?” He whispered. Leaning a little closer.
“It’s perfect~” You leaned in closer as well.
Cupping your cheek, he let his thumb brush your skin gently. His eyes widened and his wings perked up. Wondering what that was about, he let his feathers do some work. Letting go of your cheek, he took his phone out and placed it on a feather. Understanding his motive, you put yours on silent mode and placed it on the feather next to you.
The two of you watched as the feathers placed them on the seats right across the room. The slightly larger feathers made their way towards the door. Making sure that no one would be able to enter the room.
“You’ve prepared for the worst?” You teased him.
“Just making sure, nugget.” Placing his hand on the back of your neck, he gently pulled you in closer and rested his forehead on yours. “After all the distractions, I think necessary preparations are needed.”
“I would have to agree on that~” You giggled. Holding onto his wrist.
“May I?” He asked. By now, his hot minty breath touching your lip. When you nodded your answer, Hawks did not hesitate.
The two of you winced in pain when his nose hit yours. This time, there was no frustration or childish tantrums. Instead the two of you laughed it off. Cheeks red with embarrassment and stomachs doing summersaults.
“I’ll take the blame for that~” He commented. Not letting you go of his hold.
“Just shut up and kiss me, Keigo~” With that, he redeemed himself.
Finally. You felt his lips on yours. His lips were soft and the kiss was enough to melt you away. It felt as if a summer breeze had passed your soul and gave you a sense of warmth and happiness at the same time. When he titled his head to make the kiss even deeper, you felt all the butterflies in your stomach flutter. You couldn’t help but smile as you both locked lips. Not wanting to part with each other.
When Hawks felt your lips curl into a smile, he pulled you in as close as he could. The taste of mint still present and your strawberry chapstick from before still there. Wanting to intensify the kiss, he licked your bottom lip.
Gladly, you gave him entry. In the few times he’s kissed, he always wanted to have dominance but for you, he was more than willing to toss it aside. Both your tongues danced in unison, exploring each wet caverns slowly and sensually. He was grateful, and of course even more turned on, when you let out a soft moan.
The need for air finally rose. Both of you broke apart, panting. Still living in the moment, both of your eyes were shut. Grins plastered on your face at the sensation of finally being able to kiss each other.
“Well,” His voice was raspy and he was still panting. “I think the wait was worth it.”
“I couldn’t agree more~”
“So shall I make you scream my name now?” His smirk was back. The cheeky cocky pro hero you fell for.
“Keigo!”
“That’s it baby!”
The rest of the show, the two of you relaxed and enjoyed each other’s warmth. When the show was finished, the two of you checked your phones for any messages. His shoulders slumped when he saw he had a missed call from Endeavor. Followed by 7 messages.
“Looks like I’ll have to take you home lovebird~”
Moments passed and the two of you were now back on your balcony. Hawks perched on the railing while you wrapped your arms around his waist.
“I’ll be back, don’t worry.” He reassured you while petting your head.
“I know.” You lifted your head and faced him once more. The sun was now setting and his wings even more glorious with the pinks and oranges in the sky. His golden eyes staring on to you with a silent message of not wanting to leave you alone. “Be safe, Keigo.”
“I will.”
Letting him go, he leaned backwards and free fell. A second later, he was now flying in front of you. Moving in closer, he planted a short but deep kiss on your lips.
“Love you, chickadee.”
“Love you too, nugget~”
With a wink, he flapped his wings and soared into the sky. Leaving behind a feather for you to hold on to. You shook your head with amusement. This would only mean one thing.
He would most definitely be coming back and staying the night.

The Doctor - Part 3
Genre: Doctor!AU
Pairing: Donghyuk (iKON) x You (Female!Reader)
Warnings: None
Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | Words: 2,994
Tumblr media
During the next week, you tried to forget about the fact that Donghyuk had your phone number. Or that you had his. You had told him to let you know when he was free to be shown around town, but he hadn’t messaged or called you yet, which was fine because he was a busy guy, but I guess that also meant he didn’t feel like just talking casually to you? Or maybe he was too busy for that, and if that was the case, Claire was going to be one disappointed little girl.
Because, to nobody’s surprise, she asked about him every day.
“When are we showing Dr. Kim around? Where are we taking him? If I don’t go with you, will it be a date?”
...To be quite frank, you would also be disappointed if he didn’t even end up being your friend.
But then, on Friday afternoon just after Claire got home from school, your phone rang.
And one glance at your screen showed you the following name:
Dr. Kim
You picked it up without saying a word, knowing that Claire would be trying to listen in if she knew who it was.
“Hello?” you answered.
“Hey,” he replied, and you could hear that sweet smile of his in his voice. “I’m so sorry I haven’t called earlier, and I know it’s kind of short notice, but... are you free tonight?”
“Tonight?” you repeated, and you heard Claire’s soft gasp.
Your daughter ran over to you, grabbing your arm and tugging your sleeve to get your attention. “Is that Dr. Kim?!” she hissed.
“Yes, tonight would be fine,” you answered with a grin. “Claire and I were going to eat at our favorite burger place, so we can turn that into one of our stops on the tour.”
You pressed your index finger to Claire’s lips because she was still whispering ‘Is that Dr. Kim?!’ over and over.
“Perfect,” Donghyuk said.
“We can come pick you up,” you offered. “Just text me your address, and we’ll be over in... half an hour?”
“Sounds good, will do,” he replied. “See you then.”
“Bye,” you smiled.
Before you had the chance to hang up, Claire yelled out “BYE DR. KIM!”
Not even a minute later, a text message came through with Donghyuk’s address, and you told Claire to go up and get changed for a night out on the town. You were still in your work clothes, so you were certainly going to do the same.
After changing into jeans and one of your cutest blouses, you even went so far as to touch up your makeup and add a little eyeliner and lipstick.
You anticipated Claire’s teasing as you both met out in the hallway outside of your bedrooms, but instead, your daughter froze. She lifted her eyebrows and said, “Wow. You look really pretty.”
A half-smile quirked at your lips, and you bent down to cradle her little cheeks in your palms. “So do you, my sweet girl,” you told her before kissing her nose.
She squirmed away from your affections, of course, but as soon as the two of you left the house and headed out to your car, she grabbed your hand and pressed her cheek to your arm.
Once you got inside your car, you clicked on Donghyuk’s address from his message to bring it up in your GPS app. As soon as you saw it on the map, you knew where it was -- a pretty nice neighborhood, if you were not mistaken.
And, less than ten minutes later, you were proven right. You pulled into the driveway of a very nice house, and you couldn’t stop your eyes from widening.
“Whoa,” Claire breathed from the backseat.
“Yeah, you’re tellin’ me,” you replied. And then you turned around to look at her. “Do me favor, baby girl. Become a doctor when you grow up so you can buy me a nice house like this.”
Claire let out a single, amused laugh and replied with, “Yeah, sure. Okay, Mom.”
You laughed in return, though it still made your heart flip and flutter when she called you ‘Mom.’
Just as you turned around to get on your phone and call Donghyuk, you saw his front door open, and he appeared in the door and lifted one arm to wave at you.
Your heart flipped and fluttered again, though you told yourself it was still doing that from the ‘Mom’ thing.
“Hi, Dr. Kim!” Claire greeted the second he opened the passenger-side door and slid into the seat. “As you can see, I am feeling much, much better. Thank you for being such a good doctor.”
You almost choked on your breath as you shifted your car into reverse and began to back out of Donghyuk’s driveway to begin your tour.
“I think you should probably thank your mom for that,” he chuckled in reply, buckling his seat belt. “But I appreciate the compliment, and I am very glad you’re feeling better.”
When you glanced at your daughter in the rear view mirror as you got to the end of the driveway, you saw she was beaming adorably.
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed Donghyuk turn toward you, and then you heard him ask, “How are you? No fever, I hope.”
“No,” you answered with a soft laugh. “No fever. I’m doing just fine, how are you?”
“I’m pretty pumped for this tour, I’ll be honest,” he said. “What’s our first stop?”
You looked back at Claire in the mirror again as you began to drive down the street toward the neighborhood entrance. “What do you think, Claire Bear? Where to first?”
“School!” she chirped.
“Weren’t you just at school?” Donghyuk asked with an amused grin. “It’s Friday afternoon, and you already want to go back?”
“We’re not going inside,” Claire corrected. “But you can see my classroom window from the front!”
“All right, to school we go,” you nodded, putting on your blinker and turning toward the elementary school.
As you drove the few miles it took to reach Claire’s school, you pointed out a few of the older houses in town, giving Donghyuk a very brief history of the families who’d lived there back in the day. Surprisingly, he seemed genuinely interested, listening intently to you and asking a few questions here and there.
It was very obvious that he was an intellectual, and... that was very attractive to you.
When you arrived in front of Claire’s school, you pulled into the parking lot and drove as slowly as you could. Claire thrust her arm in-between the driver’s and passenger’s seat, pointing to a window near the end of the building.
“That’s my classroom!” she proclaimed with pride. And then she pointed to the sign with the school’s name by the front entrance. “And that is where they took my picture when I got student of the month. They chose me out of my whole grade.”
Since Donghyuk was a pediatrician and interacted with children all the time, you figured he knew by now to always take what they say with a generous grain of salt. But Claire was actually telling the truth, so you nodded in agreement.
“They did,” you said. “I was very proud, and we went to the zoo downtown to celebrate.”
“But I know I shouldn’t be good in school just to get a prize,” Claire said. “I should be good because it’s the right thing to do.”
You glanced over at Donghyuk when he turned around to look at Claire. There was a very impressed expression on his face, and you couldn’t stop a very wide grin from forming on your lips.
“Wow,” he said to her with a little chuckle. “You are very smart, did you know that?”
“Mommy tells me that all the time,” Claire replied. “She also says sometimes that I’m too smart for my own good, whatever that means.”
A laugh burst from your throat, and you shook your head in amusement.
“Yeah, my mom used to say that to me, too,” Donghyuk admitted with a smirk.
“So, I can become a doctor one day like you?”
“Of course! You can be anything you want to be,” he answered.
“Well, Mommy just said she wants me to be a doctor so I can --”
“Where to next?!” you interrupted. “How about we go down toward City Hall, huh? What do you think, Claire Bear?”
“Yeah!” she agreed. “We can show Dr. Kim the library!”
Phew. You had successfully dodged that bullet.
Thankfully, Claire didn’t bring up -- or start to bring up -- the fact that you wanted her to become a doctor so she could buy you a nice house again. In fact, for the next hour or so, the three of you had a really nice time driving all around town and chatting and getting to know each other.
You drove Donghyuk down to the small but bustling Main Street area and showed him City Hall, Claire’s library, the police and fire stations, and several locally-owned restaurants.
You took him past the middle and high schools, the sports fields, the local park, and pointed out where an ice skating rink and Christmas tree lot was set up during Winter.
Finally, you ended up at a burger place, one owned by Claire’s teacher’s husband -- Mr. Campbell -- who greeted you personally and warmly as soon as you walked in. You introduced him to Donghyuk, explaining that he had just moved here and had also helped Claire when she was sick last week.
“Oh, right,” Mr. Campbell replied as he smiled and shook Donghyuk’s hand. “I heard about the new doctor over at the children’s office. Welcome, glad to finally meet you.”
Mr. Campbell escorted the three of you to what he claimed was the best seat in the house, leaving you with menus and a promise of returning soon for your drink orders.
“Jimmy gave us the best seat in the house when we ate there last week,” Claire pointed out. “I might get used to this.”
“Maybe I should come eat with you every time you go out,” Donghyuk mused.
“Why?” Claire asked.
“I want the best seat in the house, too!”
Claire set down her menu and pursed her lips slightly across the table at him. “Maybe if you got Student of the Month, you would get the best seat in the house on your own.”
Donghyuk laughed at her comment -- well, you did, too, to be honest. But you also poked her side and said, “Hey, now. Don’t be sassy at the dinner table.”
Claire turned back to look at Donghyuk with her most apologetic expression and said, “I’m sorry, Dr. Kim. I bet you will definitely get Doctor of the Month sometime. Maybe even twice.”
Donghyuk leaned forward closer to her, his smile so sweet you could practically feel a cavity forming in your teeth. “I’ll certainly try my best,” he grinned.
Tumblr media
Even though Mr. Campbell’s restaurant did serve milkshakes, you opted to take Donghyuk to an ice cream stand just down the block, wanting to make sure he saw as much of the town as you could show him.
Mr. Campbell understood, of course, and even gave Claire a coupon for a free milkshake the next time she came back in.
The three of you walked down the sidewalk to the ice cream stand, the sunset casting the most beautiful orange glow around you.
Claire saw some friends from school eating ice cream when you arrived, and after raising her eyebrows at you, you let her go ahead and talk to them.
Donghyuk insisted on treating you, and you thanked him eagerly when the teenage boy behind the counter handed you a waffle cone filled with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Claire tore herself away from her friends long enough to retrieve her own cone (though hers was filled with strawberry), and then you and Donghyuk made your way to an empty bench just a few yards away.
There was a few minutes of very slightly awkward silence after you first sat down, but the two of you were busy licking away at your ice cream, so you didn’t feel the need to fill it with uncomfortable small talk.
In fact, when Donghyuk first spoke, his question was basically the opposite of small talk.
“If you don’t mind my asking,” he began, his forehead wrinkled with curiosity. “What’s the story behind Claire?”
You bit the inside of your cheek, and Donghyuk obviously took that as a sign you didn’t want to answer.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. You don’t have to --”
“No, it’s okay!” you assured him earnestly. “I don’t mind, really. I was just... trying to figure out where to start.”
Donghyuk nodded, obviously wanting to allow you time to think before you answered.
You shifted in your seat and let out a soft sigh before you did, keeping your focus on your ice cream so you wouldn’t get emotional. “Well... I always knew I wanted children. I’ve always wanted to be a mom, and... I’ve always wanted to adopt because... I was adopted, too. My parents started fostering me when I was six and adopted me when I was nine, so I wanted to do that for another child. I just... never found the right guy to do it with, so I finally decided to just apply to be a foster parent myself. My parents were great references since they were already in the foster system, and I make a good enough income to support a family on my own. I’m lucky enough that they accepted me, and I’m even more lucky that Claire was my very first foster child.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a smile curve Donghyuk’s lips, and it took everything in you not to turn and look at him. But you were already feeling a small tightness in your throat, and looking at his precious grin would probably just make it worse.
“I knew I wanted to adopt her a couple of weeks after she moved in, but I waited until the year mark before asking her. I wanted to give her time to adjust and be really sure that she wanted to be a family with me. I filed the papers the day after I asked her, and... remember that night at Jimmy’s? When you almost ran into me?”
“Of course,” he answered immediately.
“We were celebrating the adoption being finalized.”
Donghyuk shifted toward you, his knees now almost touching yours. “That’s amazing,” he said softly. “How long did it take?”
“About ten months,” you told him.
“Geez, I bet you were so relieved.”
You nodded, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. “Yes. And very, very happy.”
“That’s amazing,” he repeated. “I know people have kids every day, but... what you did. I think it’s incredibly admirable.”
“I just know what it feels like,” you said with a shrug. I wanted to give another child the same chance I got. The chance to have a family... to be loved.”
The lump in your throat only got bigger, and then Donghyuk said, “I know I don’t know you guys that well, but... I think Claire knows how lucky she is.”
And that, of course, only made it worse. Hot tears pricked the back of your eyes, and you choked out, “I hope so.”
You saw Donghyuk move the arm closest to you, and you felt his hand come to rest on your back. He rubbed it comfortingly, even sliding his hand up to squeeze your shoulder.
“Do you want another scoop of ice cream?” he offered with a grin.
“No, that’s okay,” you chuckled as you shook your head. “Thank you, though.”
“By the way,” he said. “I’m sorry it took me so long to call you. I wanted to send you a message or something before today... I was just busy. And maybe a little nervous.”
“Nervous?” you asked, slightly astonished. “Why would you be nervous?”
“I thought maybe you were just being nice and didn’t actually want to show me around.”
“No, of course, not. I really did want to.”
“Yeah, I figured you seemed too good to be like that. Plus, I really don’t know anyone outside of the office, and I wanted to actually make some friends here.”
“I’m glad you called,” you assured him, now feeling much more at ease after your emotional, vulnerable story.
The two of you spoke of less serious things for the next fifteen minutes or so, and when both of your cones were gone, you called Claire over so you could all walk back to your car.
When you dropped Donghyuk off back at his house, he thanked both you and Claire profusely for taking the time to show him around. He assured you he had a great time, and Claire reminded him that he most definitely would get Doctor of the Month -- maybe even twice!
You drove home with a smile on your face, but when your phone chimed after you stepped in through your front door... you had even more of a reason to smile.
Donghyuk had sent you a text.
Thank you again for tonight. I had a really good time, and I really appreciate everything.
As Claire headed upstairs to change into her pajamas before your weekly Friday night movie, you typed out a response.
You’re welcome 😊 I hope you feel like you have a friend here now -- or two friends 😆
You were about to close out of your conversation and change into your own pajamas, but you saw he had already read your message.
And was already typing back.
When his message came through, it was enough to make your heart do a somersault.
I definitely do. 😍

amor de mi vida - 1944

description: Bucky Barnes is a sweet young Brooklyn boy, just on the cusp of manhood, a hopeless romantic that falls in love with almost every girl he sees. when he sets his eyes on a young girl fresh off the boat from Cuba he finds out how hard love can really be.
for @cake-writes 1940s challenge.
note: in this year’s letters bucky goes into detail about what he sees out on the war front, it might be upsetting.
Tumblr media
In the middle of Harlem, almost an hour on the train from Brooklyn there was a movie theater you could go to. One that showed the movies of the war effort. Moving pictures that showed Captain America and the Howling Commandos. You could see him there, large and in black and white. Your husband. You cried the first time you saw him in action.
You wrote to him about seeing it. His hair was a little longer than he’d kept it at home. His face was more serious. You could see the dark circles under his eyes that sparked the memory of how he wrote to you about the lack of sleep. How he was always tired now. How the first thing he was going to do after getting home, aside from kissing you and eating dinner at his Ma’s, was sleep.
He’d lost weight. You knew he wasn’t able to eat enough. Not like when he was home. You knew it was something he had to deal with. His last letter talked a little about hunger. The chocolate bars they gave them in their rations, he wrote, were chalky but the sweetest thing he’d had in a while.
He asked if you’d make the dulce de leche you’d made not long before he’d left. Your Mother’s guilty pleasure. He said he could taste it in his dreams. That’s what he wanted, that and his Ma’s spice cake. He wrote about boliche and his Ma’s roast chicken. He wrote about getting ice cream at the soda shop, having a burger at his favorite diner.
You watched a man you couldn’t believe was actually Steve lay out plans on the hood of a war vehicle. Laying out plans for a mission already completed. Your husband, a man you hadn’t seen in two years, fighting tirelessly beside him. You only hoped he would continue to do so. And that this war will end and he will be home soon.
“I wanted to apologize.” Winnie lay her hand over yours, “I was taken off guard by what she said,” Winnie stopped by in the morning bearing a loaf of banana bread wrapped in cloth, still warm from the oven. “I shouldn’t have let her say those things about you.” Truth be told you’d already forgiven Winnie. You could understand that it’s hard, but times were changing. Slowly. But they were.
“Thank you.” For the apology. Winnie cried when you opened the door, it broke your heart a bit. George conveyed her sorrow to you a bit earlier in the week. And the girls came over once or twice to check in and brought food with them each time, undoubtedly made by Winnie.
Bucky and Steve. The Howling Commandos. He didn’t outright say it, but he was doing dangerous work. That you knew. These side missions, these bases they were infiltrating, something to do with a cell called Hydra. A brutal underbelly of the Nazi regime. Something deeper, more sinister with worse intentions.
It made your heart leap in your chest every time there was a knock on the door. The fear that it would be someone from the government coming to tell you that Bucky was gone. That he wasn’t coming home.
But his letters kept coming. Fewer in number than they had before.
It’s harder to write when they’ve got us in the middle of nowhere. He says. They ship the commandos all over Europe. Chasing after Hydra cells. He sends out the letters in a thick stack when he can. Steve met a woman, he says. Margaret Carter.
Bucky says you’d like her. And how when they get home the four of you should go out. A double date. Some realm of normalcy after the horrors he sees out there.
He talks about something truly horrible. They were skin and bones, these kids. These people. Starved half to death. Flies on their bodies as though they were already dead. Taken from the concentration camps and put in these Hydra facilities to be experimented on. Bodies left to rot in the cells with them.
The smell, he says. He doesn’t think he will ever forget that smell.
These aren’t in the letters he sends to his family.
He said he started having nightmares. He couldn’t understand how someone could do something so evil. To hate someone so passionately for what they believed. For who they were. But then again, he hates them for what they believed, for who they were. These monsters who ripped people from their homes and starve, beat, and kill them.
He just wants to be home. He sends a pressed peony on your anniversary.
I love you, he says, more than anything. I can’t wait to see you again.
He acts like he’s not afraid, because he doesn’t want to worry you. He says that the allies are winning, that he’ll be home in no time.
“Are you Y/N Barnes?” Usually you don’t get bothered while out. Most women who shopped at this grocery store ignored you, the rumors of whether you were hired help or housewife circulated, but they were all too afraid to ask. It was impolite after all. And most believed you were the Help regardless.
“Yes, can I help you?” Your english had gotten better but was still heavily accented. The woman behind you had a soft smile, you didn’t recognize her as someone you knew but the younger girl behind her looked to be Becca’s age. The Mother blushed,
“I’m sorry to bother you,” Her voice soft, so those around could not overhear, she stepped closer to you, “My daughter is infatuated with the dress Rebecca Barnes was wearing last Sunday in church and Rebecca says that you’re the one who made it.” You did. It was a soft blue for the oncoming spring. Yellow daisies hand stitched into the skirt.
“I did.” The basket in your hands was growing heavy with the fresh peaches they’d recently gotten in, you weren’t sure where this woman was going with this.
“Would you be able to make my daughter a dress just as fine?” The woman asked, “I’d be happy to pay you.” The young girl, fourteen, looked hopeful behind her mother. “A dress like that would probably be ten dollars in the store? Does that sound fair?”
“What color would you like?” Ten dollars was good money for a dress. You couldn’t say no and the woman and her daughter were both very sweet. You’d worked hard on the dress for seven days before she came to pick it up. Her daughter cooing over the fabric and turning around in the mirror as you made final measurements. The blush pink and white stitching, blush pink roses soft in the hem.
“Thank you very much.” The Mother, handing you the money as payment for the dress now zipped in a garment bag they’d brought. “I’m sure once I wring a little more out of my husband's pockets we will be back for more.”
One dress became another, and another Mother wanted a dress for her daughter, and then the other girls in Becca’s class asking for dresses. Suddenly you were making your own money, not in the factory this time, but enough to keep your fingers busy and give you something to do during the day with the help of Winnie.
Winnie would help you measure and fit the girls. She would help you with the basic stitching when the orders piled up, you would work on the finer details. The small stitching. The tug and pull of forming flowers.
You excitedly wrote to Bucky about it.
Once you were married he didn’t want you working at the factory anymore. “It’s a death trap.” He explained. But people could get away with a lot when it came to immigrants. Poor working conditions, not having the proper ventilation, and the long hours. You were doing the very thing he encouraged you to do all along.
But making dresses for family was vastly different than making dresses for strangers. When prom season came around you were up to your ears in tulle and velvet.
It seemed a little arbitrary, but he praised you for it anyway. You imagined him covered in dirt, out in the heat of summer, blood on his boots and an empty belly, writing this letter telling you how proud he was that you were doing something you loved doing. It felt heavy in your stomach.
Like it was unfair.
But his checks went into the same account you put this money into. And it was good money. A plan for the future.
A woman brought her baby once. A sweet fat little thing. Yes, she wailed and cried, she tugged on your hair and just about ripped the earring out of your ear but it gave a new craving. You wanted to start a family.
You thanked God that you hadn’t gotten pregnant before Bucky left, a baby was hard to handle alone. And with the stress and heartache with him being overseas you weren’t sure you could have handled having a baby going on two years old now. But when he got home, it was something to be brought up. A maternal craving you didn’t know you had.
The summer brought backyard barbecues and trips to the beach. For Bucky it was a little different.
He wrote about some nice things. The countryside. Steve rambling incessantly about his new girl. A village that made them a decent meal. He said that he’d forgotten what good food tasted like. He wrote about how he got to sleep in an actual bed for the first time in a while. About how he got to meet Howard Stark. That Steve knew him. That Stark helped him become whatever he is now. Stronger, faster, a super soldier.
Stark was talking about starting an organization to deal with people like this, Hydra. To keep groups like this from taking root. He offered Bucky a job when he gets back to New York. But that would be a conversation for another day, he writes, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do.
He also wrote about the Russians liberating a camp, how they felt like they were getting closer to the goal. He said this time next year he should be home with you the way it’s looking now. There were a number of hydra bases left, but they’ve spent the better part of a year eradicating them.
These letters that were being read by you now, albeit slowly, but Suzy was no longer looking over your shoulder became brazen, a little racy.
Bucky wrote about how he dreams of you, every night. How you feel against him. How you taste on his tongue. You felt heat grow in your cheeks reading about it. He talked about how he looked at your picture every day, how he craved your lips. How your hair felt in his hands. How your body felt under his.
You wrote back about tracing your fingers over his back, trailing your lips there. The closeness that sex brought you. How it made you feel. A breath apart and panting with it. The reunion was craved by both sides. The longing in the letters was clear. But it quickly turned sour.
There was a husband, he wrote, in one of the villages. He’d gotten to safety. But his wife was taken. There was a Hydra base nearby. These men, he wrote, come whenever they want, whatever time of day they want, and they rob these people who have no means to defend themselves. When they found the base, it was similar to the others. He didn’t want you to know what conditions he was put under, so he never described it to you. But you could assume it was terrible with the way they found the people there.
The man’s wife was dead. And he described how this man fell in the street. The emotion of it, raw and powerful. It broke your heart. He lamented about how the man told him that he’d met his love as a child. He spent his entire life with her. And now she’s gone. He asked what he should do. Because he didn’t know. And he wasn’t the only civilian who experienced loss that day.
The sorrow was palpable, he wrote, there were no songs of victory by the campfire that night. There was no celebration. The village was small enough that everyone lost someone, and it was felt.
The summer closed with the boys back in London, seemingly the home base for whatever missions they’d been working on. And there was something big, or so Bucky eluded to. He couldn’t say to compromise the mission, but it was something big. He didn’t know exactly what would happen, but it was the beginning of the end, the real end. Of Hydra and Nazi Germany.
It gave you hope. Maybe he’ll be home soon. Maybe this war will finally be over and he’ll be home, safe.
Communication was tight for the rest of the year. Something you chose to ignore by making the girl’s fall and winter dresses. Throwing yourself into your dress orders, an entire room in the house, one that would, god willing, be a room for one of your future children, covered in crushed blue velvet and rich greens and reds. You’d gotten a beautiful champagne colored tule you couldn’t help but buy along with some frivolous ribbons and playful buttons to change up the looks of the back of the dresses.
It was something easy to focus on, mindful and relaxing tasks that took your mind off of the fact that letters were fewer than ever and your husband was thousands of miles away doing truly dangerous work.
The Barnes household was buzzing with activity. All morning preparations for Christmas dinner, straight after Church you found yourself in the Barnes’ kitchen peeling potatoes, cutting carrots, and trussing a turkey.
Softly in the background was a memory of last year. I’ll Be Home for Christmas. The optimism of last year drowned with the optimism for next year. Bucky said he feels like it will be over soon. And hopefully it will be.
There was a stack of presents accumulated from last year's Christmas and birthdays, and the year before’s. Waiting for him to open.
“Maybe he’ll be home by his birthday.” Ginny was twenty and beautiful, now with a steady boyfriend you were sure would propose any day now.
The room was light and hopeful. George Barnes was stringing cranberries with Rebecca and Suzy, and now eighteen-year-old Ruth was reading a letter that had just arrived for the family.
“They got to see a USO show before going back out.” Ruth reads, “Dinah Shore.” You looked at her confused. You didn’t know who Dinah Shore was. “She sings ‘Yes, My Darling Daughter’, she was in ‘Thank Your Stars’.” You shake your head, never having heard the song or seen that movie before. Ruth shrugs, a smile on her face, “She’s blonde and pretty.” As an explanation to why they would have Dinah Shore try to raise the morale of the troops. A laugh was shared. “He said that he’s never going to eat another can of beans for the rest of his life.”
You focused on placing the turkey in the oven. There was some unfound jealousy at the thought of your husband screaming and shouting, hollering at a woman sent to perform for them. It was dumb, but it was there.
You tried to remind yourself about his last letter, the one he’d written before he left for his mission. He’d written enough to stagger out some letters, but you were afraid they were going to stop coming all together. You felt like you were being silly having jealousy about some woman who you didn’t even know. And it quickly went away as you thought about maybe this time next year. Maybe it’ll be all over. And that extra spot at the table will be filled.
You could only hope.

Bucky Barnes x Reader: Too Late
You yawned, ready to close the diner. It was already 8, and everyone had already come and eaten. The sun had already set and it was completely dark outside. Of course, you could close it whenever you wanted to, because (Insert diner name here) was owned by you. It was one of the only woman-owned businesses around here. Of course, it was pretty rare, but it was definitely not impossible.
Suddenly, a whoosh of wind passed as the door opened and the small bell on top of the door jingled. One of your best friends, Bucky, walked in. Though he usually strutted and showed of his confidence, today, something was off. His head was hanging a little and he looked like a wilting flower, drooping slightly as he trudged into your diner.
"Hey, Buck, what's wrong?" You said, concerned for your best friend. You went over to him and sat down, taking his jacket and hanging it up on the coat rack next to the door, then leading him over to a booth and helping him sit down.
"Hey, Y/N," he said sadly. "I- uh, I just got some bad news today, that's all."
"Oh, that sucks, what was it?" You asked worriedly.
"N-nothing," he hurriedly answered.
You didn't pry. Bucky may seem over the top and outgoing, but you and Steve, your other best friend, knew that he valued his privacy. If he wasn't comfortable sharing something, he would do so in his own time.
"Hey, let me get you some food and a drink, you look like you could use it." You shot him a smile and headed into the back of the kitchen room. There were a few leftover burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, which you collected. You opened a can of soda and went back out. You set the can and plate of food in front of Bucky, who quickly started eating. You smiled, knowing that no matter how sad he was, Bucky would eat anything.
"Thanks, Y/N. I don't know what I would do without you," Bucky said as he swallowed a bite of a  burger. You desperately wanted to ask him about what happened, as you were a really curious person, but you managed to hold it in.
"Of course, Buck. I'm sure you'd do the same for me," you replied back, shooting him a smile which he finally returned. You were glad he was feeling at least a little better.
You sat in a comfortable silence as Bucky finished eating. You were about to take away his plate when he shook his head and took it to the sink himself. "It's after hours, N/N, and I'm not a guest. You're giving me this food for free." You laughed in return. This was a nice gesture, especially considering he was hurting right now and this was your diner, not Bucky's.
Finally, he sat down next to you and opened his mouth. "I guess I have to tell you at some point. N/N, long story short, I got deployed."
You stared at him in shock. That was the last thing you expected him to say. Yes, he was an amazing fighter and soldier and was bound to have to go at some point, but you weren't ready for it. Not this soon. Expecting it to be in a few months or so, you hadn't even thought about it for a while, not until Bucky had said these words that he was scared to say because he was sure they would hurt you.
"I- I wasn't expecting that. W- when do you leave?" You stuttered out.
"I leave next week. Short notice, I know, but it was an emergency. The 107th. They need it." Suddenly, Bucky was hugging you tightly. His arms were comforting around you as you hugged him as tight as you could.
"I'm going to miss you so much."
"Me too."
You pulled away, and stared up into his eyes as he looked into yours. There was some sort of spark there, something pulling you towards him. You wondered if he felt it too, but he probably didn't. That's what you had always thought, anyway. But then why was he still holding you? Why hadn't he let go yet?
"Can I kiss you?" The quiet words came out of his mouth.
"Does this answer your question?" You immediately said, bringing your lips up to his. He was only a few inches taller than you, but he bent down to kiss you. You were sure that Bucky's kisses with girls were passionate and strong and definitely very intense, but this kiss was sweet and soft, yet passionate all the same. It held all the pain and sorrow and love and longing that the two of you would soon feel as Bucky would be miles and miles away.
Eventually, you pulled away. "Now I'm really going to miss you," you breathed.
"I'm going to miss you even more."
It had been months since you'd seen Bucky. You had wrote letters to each other to keep in touch. Although you were sure he would stop sending them or slow them down, you still got a letter consistently every two weeks. You'd stay up all night reading one as soon as it came, and then write one and mail it immediately the next morning. That was how you survived: hope that you would see him again and ignoring the dread that was in you, the ache in your heart over whether he would come back.
You had Steve to stay with you, to comfort you. But he was deployed too, and you had no idea what had happened to him. Soon, you came to realize that he had taken some sort of...serum, and had grown stronger and very tall. Now he was going as Captain America, an inspiration to children and to adults as he fought, and you were proud but very, very alone.
Everything broke down when one time, the letters stopped coming. It had been a whole month, and you still hadn't received anything from Bucky. You were scared, really scared. You had suspicions that he was gone, but you always pushed them away, forcing hope to dominate over your thoughts. He would come back.
Until one day, when a knock on your door early in the morning shocked you. It was a bright, sunny, perfect day, which was weird considering it was winter, though the early blossoms of spring were starting to bloom. When you looked through the peephole, you saw some Army soldiers. You were plain confused as you opened the door.
"Hello ma'am, are you Y/N L/N?" One of the men asked. When you nodded, he handed you a box. "We're very sorry, but James-- he was killed in action. His actions will be commemo...." That was all you heard. You were trying so very hard to continue standing, and finally the soldiers left with final goodbyes and sorrow on their faces, but definitely not as much as you were feeling at the moment.
You sank to your knees, hugging the box to your chest. Tears streamed down your face as you sat there sobbing about Bucky's death. You would never see him again, and that was what hurt the most.
Soon, you managed to console yourself enough to open the box. Inside were Bucky's belongings. His clothes, which smelled like him. You hugged them to your chest. His books, supplies, and photographs. You sobbed at the pictures of you, Steve and Bucky together. You hugged a picture of Bucky kissing you on the cheek to your chest. You thought it was a friendly kiss but it wasn't. You should've seen the signs earlier.
Finally, you took out the last thing in his box. His dog tags. To you. Every single one. You hugged them to your chest and cried, wishing that you had more time to stay with Bucky.

WIP 07.22.2020
Tumblr media
Guess what day it is, guess what day it is WIP WEDNESDAY!!! LOL.  Is anyone else wondering where the heck this week went?  Because I really am.  I’m still a little whipped from working 6 days last week,  but this is what I’ve got going on.
I’m also planning on redoing my tag list on my fics next week, to see if people want to be on and off and shifted around, If anyone wants to be officially perma-tagged as when I started this blog I didn’t know what TF that meant.  LOL.  Also if you are interested in my Ellie Fic,  Chapter 1 is done, so if you would like a tag on that please let me know,  I posted a little more below as a teaser.
I totally worked on these in the wrong order as inspiration struck me, so the fic I have finished, is the one I for real started last.  Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.  Because in my mind that made perfect sense.  Blame it on the alcohol yo.
Tumblr media
I am leading first with Pop’s Place, as this is the one that surprised some people ALOT with what Liam told Mia about Drake’s relationship he’s still currently in.... apparently....
First up:

Mom’s Birthday
Pop’s Place Chapter 7
*still in the writing process*
"Did you show her the pictures?"
"You were right she didn't even look through them all. If she did she would have realized they were from last year."
"And how did she take it?"
"It really hurt her feelings. I wasn't planning on her crying.  We shouldn't have done this Mollie."
"Oh good grief Liam, don't be a baby and get a conscience now. You’re gonna reap all the benefits, if you play your cards right. The way he broke up with me here, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!!!! Neville even thought it was funny.  Drake has it coming.  Where are you?"
"I'm at her place. She went to get us some drinks."
"He was going to ask her to be his girlfriend, when he got home you know.  From the vibe I got, he was pretty sure Mia would have said yes. So you're welcome."
"Thank you Mollie."
"You know we wouldn't have been able to do this to him, if he cared about social media. I'm surprised he even has his cell phone, not that it's working. He's going to walk into a shit show when he gets back.  So if you want to make her yours, you better move fast."
"I'm invited to her Mom's birthday party."
"Get you some!"
"I intend to."
"Damn, she's in for a treat, you're great in bed you know, Liam Rys."
Tumblr media
"Oh I know."
Liam quickly put his phone away when Mia came back out of  the house with their favorite apple juice.

The Fight Within
Fast Forward Chapter 12
*still in the writing process*
Are you happy with the way your life has turned out?"
"Yes My Love. I love you, and our children more than life." He gently touched her stomach. I can't wait to meet our second little girl."
She placed her hand on his. "Can we talk about children?"
"Of course."
"This is going to be our last baby Liam, I don't want any more children."
"Riley why? You are an excellent mother."
"I feel like my attention is so divided."
"Well I know we were both against having a nanny, maybe that would help."
"It won't because, I don't want any more children. We will have two babies in diapers again. Two breastfeeding again. Do you know how tiring it is? Especially when none of them start out wanting to take a bottle? And don't look at me like that Liam, you have always been helpful there. Diaper changes, nightly cuddles and snuggles,  but sometimes babies just want Mommy. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had more than 2 consecutive nights of more than 4 hours of constant sleep? After I give birth, I am going to get a tubal ligation or you're gonna get snipped.  And I can already tell by the look on your face Liam, you don't want it to be you."
"Riley, I carry the royal bloodline of Cordonia."
"So do our children.  When this child is born, I will have given you four heirs Liam."

Chapter 1: Crown Princess Blues
Ellie (Ali) Rys: Hartfeld University Student
*finished*
She wondered how Nic was going to take the news.
She walked out of the palace down the walkway to the practice arena.   That is where the Junior Guards were practicing. Being a Junior Guard was a stepping stone to get into the King’s Guard Academy, which Nicolai was planning on doing to follow in his father’s footsteps.
She always went on Tuesdays when Nico, her mother’s guard, was training them.
“Your Highness,” he greeted her when she walked in.
“I wanted to see our future guards in action, that will help defend The Crown someday.”
“We live to serve The Crown!”  The group chanted, bowing to Crown Princess Ellie.
She nodded in return.
“As you were.”  He saw Ellie’s eyes find Nic’s from across the room.  A large smile quickly crossed his face.   He could tell by Ellie’s eyes, which were Riley’s beautiful eyes, she was smiling too, but her mannerisms were just like her father’s.  King Liam had taught her to hide her true feelings very well. But Ellie’s eyes were her mother’s, and they were a dead giveaway.
Nico immediately saw how his son Nic’s demeanor had changed, and the bright pink flush that was on his face.
After watching them spar for about 30 minutes,  He decided to get them a break, which gave Nic a little time to talk to Ellie.  They quickly disappeared into a secluded alcove.  Nic couldn’t wait to kiss Ellie as soon as he knew it was safe. She ran her fingers through Nic’s hair as she kissed him.  Their kiss was so brief.  Nic leaned in again.
Ellie pecked his lips again softly.  “Save some for later,”  she smiled at him.
“There’s something I need to tell you. I picked a University.”
“That’s great Ellie.  Let me guess where.”
Ellie noticed Nic’s smile start to fade after time after time she said no.
“Ellie where are you going to university?”
“To America,  Hartfeld University.”
The color drained from Nic’s face.  “Break’s over, I have to get back.”
He didn’t even kiss Ellie goodbye, he just walked away.   He walked away quickly because he didn’t want Ellie to see him cry.
“Nicolai, wait!” Ellie called after him, but Nic walked even faster.  Ellie sighed walking back in the direction towards the palace.

“Are you ready for bed my Love.”
“Yes, I will be in a few minutes.”  Riley kissed Liam’s lips.
“Excuse me?”  Jason said.
“We’re getting ready to go to sleep.”  Liam said, he tried to keep his voice level, as he didn’t know what Jason Brooks was getting at.
“Not in the same bed with my daughter you’re not.”
Liam let out a surprised laugh.  He immediately felt Riley hit his arm.
“You’re serious.”
“Yes the hell I am.  She’s not your wife yet, you’re not sharing a bed with her as long as I’m under this roof.”
“Dad this is his palace.”
“Jason you have lost your mind. Siri what are Cordonian jails like?”
“I don’t give a flying fuck.  You’re not married to him yet Jelly Bean, and I want to keep your virtue intact.”
Riley thought of all the things she had done with Liam… Yep… that virtue has been gone a long time ago.
She watched Liam and her father stare each other down.

Liam’s ears turned bright red, as he turned to Riley.  “My love.  I will have some things moved to your old suitor room.  I  will see to it that it is properly cleaned for you in the morning.”
Liam watched as Riley gathered some of her things, to take to the other room.
He slipped his arms around Riley’s waist.  “Maybe I can sneak down the hall and spend the night with you instead.”
“Don’t even think about it, I’m a light sleeper.  Do you need any help with your things Jelly?”
“I got it Dad.”
She settled in her room.   Liam sent her a selfie from the bed with him pointing to her side of the bed, where Chance was curled up.  “We miss you Love.”
“Still want to marry me?”
“Of course… but your dad is quite the character.”

“Love you look upset, what's wrong?”
“Your father…”
“I know I was supposed to be at your confessional and at the last possible second he told me I would not be attending and it would be him instead.”
“That’s not what.. Your father said some really inappropriate things to me.”
“Like what?”
She went over the things Constantine had said during the confessional about her body and lust.
“My father would never talk to a woman like that.  You have to be taking what he’s saying out of context Riley.  I know you are still upset about the task Riley.  I am too….”
“Are you saying you don’t believe me Liam?”
“No that’s not at all what i’m saying Love.  If you would just cal.…..”
“Don’t you dare tell me to calm down Liam Rys!!!!!!!  Your father is disgusting, and talked about you and me together, and he stared at me like I was a piece of ass Liam.”
“Riley please….”
“You know what, don’t bother coming by the next couple of nights, I don’t think my schedule can accommodate you this week anyway.”
Liam watched Riley walk away slamming the door behind him.
“He didn’t believe you Riley? How could he not believe you?  I’ve seen the way Constantine stares at you when he knows Liam isn’t looking. King Constantine is a dog.”
“So you believe me?”
He stroked Riley’s cheek gently kissing her lips.
“Of course I believe you Riley.  I know you wouldn’t be this upset if it didn’t happen.  Prince Liam can’t see who his father truly is because he’s too close.  I’m sorry he hurt you.”
He hugged Riley.
“I know a place that makes the best american cheese burgers and chocolate milk shakes.  Go put your sweat pants on girl, we’re gonna go there and eat until our stomachs are full and happy.”
“No Greek tonight then?”
“You can have some Greek Meat if you would like later.”
Riley laughed.
“That was dirty Nico.”
“Yet you’re still laughing.”

SasuHina Month 2020- Day 3
Prompt I’d Choose You Again and Again
Mirror, Mirros -Part 3
The nightmares didn’t stop. She’d wake up in a cold sweat turn on the lights and look at the mirror, with dark rubies instead of red, that was broken, the only thing that differed was the image, once it would be of her lover from the dream; than of a little girl than a little boy and the cycle would start anew.  The strangest things about the whole thing was that instead of waking up scared, her heart would indeed pound, but she woke up feeling a sadness so deep she could barely breath. The events of the dreams differ from time to time the only thing they have in common is that they all start out nice and end up with her in the closet with her the ghost of her lover.
Apart from the dreams nothing else was weird, Hinata’s life went on as normal. Go to work, go see her family or friends if she has the time and return home. Soon enough the holiday would end and Uni would start again and she’d have to reduce her hours at the diner; so Hinata was working as many hours as she could at that moment, especially having taken a week off to go see Neji.
The good thing about the diner was that the owner, Teuchi, the cook Ayane were very nice people. The other waitresses were also nice but Hinata didn’t interact as much with them. She loved the diner mainly because of its vintage style with the checked floor, the red stools and red booths. The uniform was anything they wanted to wear as long as it was a white top and black bottoms. Their nametag was brooch like and could be pinned to any top.
Teuchi had called her around noon the day before asking if she could cover a double shift, because one of the girls called in sick all of a sudden, to which Hinata agreed. She decided to wear a white T-shirt tucked in a skater skirt and a pair of black flats. She did own clothing items that were not vintage but she preferred to throw in something quite old into the mix; that day she chose to wear a red headband; the story behind that particular item was that it was an actual headband wore by a pinup model in the 50s. She took her jean jacket with her because despite being summer still, the nights were starting to get colder, autumn was making its presence known.
The day went on without any trouble, being summer, the diner was quite busy but that wasn’t all that bad; it kept Hinata occupied from thinking about the nightmares she’d been having. Around the middle of her second shift Hinata started feeling tired and her feet were killing her from walking back and forth the whole day. Thankfully dinner hour had just about ended and there were only a few more people around, most of them teens or young adults that only stopped by to eat something before going to a party. The other waitress had left about 40 minutes before.
All tables were set for the moment so Hinata could take a break herself and eat something. Ayane made her favorite veggie burger with sweet potato fries. The music was soft and mellow so people could talk, the lights weren’t blinding and everything about the diner just made Hinata feel at home. She had loved it from the moment she stepped inside it a few years ago looking for a job that she could handle while she was still in high school at the time. Hinata was just taking her plate back to the kitchen when the doorbell rang signaling new customers.
“I swear you’re going to love this place” Said a cheerful voice. Hinata recognized the voice and smiled to herself. Naruto was one of their most common customers. He’d pass by at least once a day and almost always ordered the very same thing. The diner served traditional Japanese fast food but also “normal” diner menu. Hinata took out her notepad to write down Naruto’s order despite knowing by heart exactly what he wanted.
Naruto noticed her walking their way and smiled at her and she smiled right back, he had that effect on people, his positivity was just contagious.
“Hey Naruto. We were getting worried since you haven’t been by in a few days” Hinata said, it was mostly a joke but she did notice his absence in the past 2-3 days.
“Yea sorry about that. I had to help Teme move in so there was no time to swing by” The blonde answered and nodded towards his friend. Hinata’s eyes moved to the guy standing on the other side of the booth.
The moment their eyes met she got goosebumps. She didn’t have time to analyze what was happening because Naruto started talking again.
“We’ll have two of my normal order” He said to her. “It’s the best thing here you have to try that first” he said to his friend.
As in a daze Hinata walked back to the kitchen and told Ayane the order. “Nobody new came I’m taking a 5-minute break ok?” Hinata said and hurried to the back door.
Her hands were trembling and her heart was beating much faster than it would normal. Naruto’s friend, he was the man from her dreams. The one holding her close and whispering her name. He was the man to hold out his hand and watch her kill herself in the dream. She had read somewhere that every face you see in your dreams is a person you’ve seen somewhere, on the street, on tv, in pictures. Your brain can not come up on its own with new faces. She must have seen him somewhere before today.
‘But Naruto had said he just moved here’
‘No, he said he moved. Maybe he moved from an apartment to the other, from living with his family or a roommate to living on his own. People move around in the same town all the time’
‘Right. I’m sure that’s what he meant. That means I saw him before. No biggie’
‘Yes, yes that makes sense’
There was no other explanation. Finishing up the dialogue with herself, having calmed down a little and approving of the reasoning she reached, Hinata went back inside.
The boys’ food wasn’t done yet but one of the tables wished to get the check and leave. After putting the money in the cashier Hinata went back to the kitchen and took the two-ramen bowls to the table. She was trying her best not to look at Naruto’s friend. Despite knowing that the dream was just a coincidence she still felt weird looking at him. Her brain picked his face to illustrate her lover and that was awkward.
“The diner is pretty dead at the time. Why don’t you sit down Hina?” Naruto said and slid to the side to make room for her. Naruto was right the diner was quite empty; besides them there were only 2 other tables occupied and they were both still eating. Hinata wanted to refuse but wasn’t sure how so she took the easier route and said ‘sure’.
“Hinata this is my friend Sasuke. He just transferred here from Kiri.” Naruto introduced the two and Hinata’s panic came back full mode. She had been mistaken. He moved from another town, she hadn’t seen him before, and to top it all his name was Sasuke.
“Nice to meet you. If you don’t mind me asking what’s your family name?” Her voice was oddly calm compared to the storm that was happening in her brain.
‘It’s just a name coincidence I’m sure’
‘He’s not the Sasuke from the mirror. That’s impossible’
“Uchiha” He said and looked at her in a funny way. In 5 seconds Sasuke did so much damage. He had the same name as the one written on the back of the mirror, her nightmares started after buying said mirror, this guy that shared the name from the mirror was a recurring character in her dream, and his voice matched as well, it sounded just as it did when he talked her; when he said she was beautiful in her dreams.
“Nice to meet you” Hinata said her voice was a bit breathless but neither of the guys seemed to notice. What the man said to her when she bought the mirror came back to her ‘The Uchiha curse shall not die miss, make sure you don’t either’ was it really a curse? Too many things were happening for it to be pure coincidence. She was scared.
The following 15 seconds were spent it silence, the boys were eating and Hinata was looking at her own hands. They were clasped tightly on her lap so they’d stop shaking. Thankfully one of the men from the other table signed her to go to their table. Hinata left the booth like it was on fire. Scenes from her nightmare were playing in front of her eyes. The diner was in flames and Sasuke was calling for her, asking for help.
“We’d like the check please” the man that signed for her said.
“Of course” she was working the register when Ayane came out from the kitchen.
“I’m going to turn the sign around so no more people come. Teuchi-san said we can close up earlier today since it’s this slow” Ayane said and she walked back to the register looking at the two tables that were both almost done. “You can go get your things and go home I’ll close up after everyone leaves.”
“Thank you, Ayane-san” Hinata went to the back where her jacket and bag were. She washed her hands in the bathroom before putting on her jacket and going back inside. Ayane was just ringing up the last table. Naruto and his friend had left thankfully. She wasn’t sure what she should do about the mirror, the nightmares, Sasuke. Hinata was still in deep thought when she stepped out of the diner.
“Oh, is your shift over Hina?” Naruto asked scaring her. The boys were just outside in the parking lot next to a beautiful black Impala. Sasuke was smoking not really looking at her. At least that’s what she thought, from the corner of his eye Sasuke had been following her around from the moment his eyes laid on her.
“Yes, I was just going home.” She answered it was a bit rude not to ask what they were up to but she wanted the conversation to end as soon as possible. Normally she’d stay and chit-chat with Naruto for a while, but for obvious reasons that option did not feel safe.
“Sasuke’s almost done with that cig and we can give you a drive home. It’s late and quite cold” The blonde offered.
“Oh, that’s not necessary…”
“We’re going to your neighborhood anyway, Kiba invited us over to his house to play some video games and chill.” Naruto smiled at her. “So, it’s no problem at all. I’d feel much worse if we left you here.”
Her mind was working twice as fast trying to come up with a reason why she should walk home alone. But the blonde didn’t wait for her reply and pretty much dragged her to the car and opened the door for her to get in. Which she did. She never minded Naruto’s pushiness before, but in that moment she felt irritated by it.
Sasuke slid in the driver’s seat and Naruto in the shotgun seat. The drive wouldn’t be more than 10-15 minutes but the silence was deafening.
“I heard you went to USA to see Neji a week ago, how was that?” Naruto was good like that, he always tried to keep the conversation going.
“Yea I did, it was great I missed him a lot.” Naruto talked for most of the drive.
“I don’t really know where you live Hina, I just know the neighborhood so you gotta give Teme some directions from here on”
“Actually, it’s fine if you drop me off here or at Kiba’s I can walk from there” She wasn’t very keen on Sasuke knowing where she lived.
“Oooooor you can come hang out with us if you want, at Kiba’s I mean. He’ll be so pumped to see you.” The Uzumaki stated.
She knew Kiba would like to see her, they’ve talked a few days ago about meeting up but nothing really worked for both of them. She did miss Kiba…
‘Are you nuts? You can’t go. Sasuke will be there…’
‘It’s either that or I tell him my address what if he kills me in my sleep?’
‘O, shoot we went from creepy coincidence to murderer this fast?’
‘I don’t know! But I doubt he’ll try anything with Naruto and Kiba around…right?’
“Yea ok, I’ll join you guys for a while…”
“Great! Don’t text Kiba though I wanna see his face when he sees you.” Naruto said laughing “It’s adorable Sasuke I swear, he turns into a puppy dog whenever Hina is around”
They reached Kiba’s house and all three walked towards the door, Naruto stopped abruptly which made Sasuke stop and Hinata walked into him. Three things happened then at the same time.
1.      Hinata saw the Uchiha symbol on the back of Sasuke’s shirt.
2.      Hinata touched his arm and took a step back to balance herself, so she wouldn’t fall over
3.      Memories of her past life came back to her. All the nightmares made sense, she knew what the mirror meant, who Sasuke was. And the fear she felt just moments before; that fear turned to comfort.
Hinata took another step back, and another. She was overwhelmed by emotions. Utter sadness for the pain she experienced before, joy because she found the love of her life once again, she would find him in every lifetime time and time again. She also felt love, A feeling that Hinata had not experienced in that current life was now flowing inside her and it wanted to break free. Her eyes were watering up and all she wanted to do was hug Sasuke and make sure he is indeed real, but she couldn’t.
