Aries: Your blunt and it often comes across as insensitive. Yet at the same time people may think your too sensitive. Growing up your household was very busy and or very gossipy. if/when you ever have the energy for it, do you have any resources/suggestions for dealing with adhd understimulation when trying to rest or relax? I'm supposed to be resting and not doing tasks but all the resources I've found seem to be about ✨accomplishing your goals✨ and ✨doing tasks✨ and mostly I just want to lie down for a few hours without chewing through the bedposts

Funny, that. It's almost like there's a problem with ADHD resources prioritizing productivity over rest and mental well-being.

Understimulation genuinely makes me want to crawl out of my skin, so I getcha. It's hard to rest when your brain feels like a shark that'll die if it stops moving.

One thing I've found helpful is guided meditation. I suck at the regular kind, but if there's a voice to guide me through it, I find it much easier. I also like watching nature walks on YouTube. There are quite a few left over from the pandemic when that was a big thing.

Adult coloring books were also something my therapist got me to do when I was going through major mental and physical burnout and my brain was climbing the walls. It felt creative and productive while also being not too tasking.

Word puzzles were also something I did a lot of. I tried to avoid doing them on my phone lest I get sucked into a social media doom scroll, but sometimes doing games on your phone can be a good way to decompress.

If you can handle audiobooks, those can be easier than reading sometimes. I get the majority of mine through Libby these days.

Also, something random that I found helpful with calming my brain down was green light. I used it initially for migraine treatment (green light therapy), but I've also found it helps with sleep and relaxation. Most of our lights in the house are fitted with 'cheap' light-changing bulbs I can control from my phone so I can change them all to green when I've got a migraine, but I also use it when I'm jittery and need to relax. Seems to help. Just throwing it out there in case it helps.

Hopefully, others will have more suggestions in the notes!

Sometimes we need a silly little joke, and that's okay. I hope you like it anon. Is the moss thing related to this blog name or is it just random? Also, I don't know who that is - and I had to look up what deltarune is. Maybe it's an age thing or maybe it's just one of those topics I know nothing about. Either way~

Also, I'll be honest, I set up an excel sheet with all of my requests organized by post type before I did this request. Now I feel more organized. Yay.

The demon brothers react to MC eating moss

Lucifer

No. No. No. No. “Spit that out right now, MC.”

They’re going to give this poor single parent of 6 an aneurysm. Moss could be dangerous for MC. Where did they even get that? Did they at least wash it before shoveling it into their mouth?

What is he going to tell Diavolo if moss gets them sick? “Yeah, sorry about needing you to call a human doctor for MC. I looked away from them for one minute, and they started eating moss.” He has a responsibility to keep MC safe.

Lucifer is the type to order MC to get a psych eval when he sees them eating moss. He knows it’s weird and potentially dangerous. This kind of unusual behavior should be closely monitored by a professional.

He’ll nearly lose his mind believing that MC had definitely lost theirs.

“What in the Devildom has gotten into you? Have you utterly lost it? MC, I can’t handle these kids on my own anymore. I need you to be sane and relatively normal, please.”

Please don’t do this to him. Lucifer needs stability in his life, and eating moss is not the picture of stability.

He will make MC’s potential problem about him for a bit in true bad single parent fashion.

Mammon

“The hell ya doin’?!”

Mammon will not hesitate to point out how weird he thinks they are. He doesn’t want to hurt MC’s feelings, but he can’t stop himself from giving them a look of confusion and light disgust.

“That can’t possibly taste good, can it? Ya can’t just go ‘round eatin’ any plant ya see.”

Once the initial surprise works through him, he’s just worried about MC eating something weird. What would he do if they got sick? What would he tell Lucifer? He’s their guardian, and he takes that role more seriously than he likes to let on.

Mammon’s the most likely to try to physically remove the moss from MC’s mouth (but Lucifer is a close second). It could be dangerous. He’ll confiscate MC’s moss if they have any left and keep a close eye on them.

Leviathan

Levi finds it funny (and he probably actually knows which character you’re referencing, anon). It’s weird, sure, but he figures whatever MC is doing, it’s pretty harmless.

He wonders if that applies to algae. It might make cleaning out his fish tanks a bit easier if MC can and wants to eat it. The thought pops into his head, but Levi decides against it.

It’s strangely comforting that MC has something weird and arguably off-putting about them. Usually, he’s the weird, gross one. (This is where creepy Levi kicks in and he wants to know more about MC’s weird habits. Maybe if it turns out that they’re super weird, he can keep them all to himself. However, Levi lets his creepy thoughts go as quickly as they came.) Levi unlocked new information. Friend points +50. MC’s charm points +30.

“If I kiss you right now, that’s close enough to touching grass, right?” That’s a thing he’s supposed to do, isn’t he? Shit. He didn’t mean to say that out loud, but it’s too late.

Levi’s one of the brothers who will just let MC be and do their thing. He might double check and make sure MC isn’t going to get sick, but after that, he’ll leave them be. It’s not really his business. If it makes MC happy, he won’t judge.

Satan

Oddly supportive boyfriend.

The man’s a little feral and weird. I think he would find it kind of precious and adorable; it’s kind of like how cats like to eat grass.

He’d spend a while figuring out which mosses are safe to consume, asking MC if they have any preferences for which moss types they enjoy. Do they prefer certain textures and mouth feels? Are certain colors preferable? Which moss tastes the best?

Then, he would set up a moss terrarium for MC filled with their favorite mosses. Satan may ask them to help him build it as a cute little craft date. This way, MC will have a way to safely snack on moss whenever they wish. A terrarium has the added benefit of MC being able to control where the moss comes from so that they can avoid any harmful bacteria, viruses, pesticides, etc.

Of course, Satan understands that eating moss is unusual, and he may question what it is that compels MC to eat moss, but he doesn’t see the need to stop it.

He may taste the moss himself (in the same way that someone with a pet may be tempted to try pet food). It would, in all likelihood, disappoint him, but MC’s enjoyment is all that matters.

Satan has a real “MC can have a bit of moss – as a treat” kind of mindset. He’ll probably try to see if he can hand-feed MC like they’re a stray cat. He’s weird, too, but we love him.

Asmodeus

“Honey, no. This isn’t how we transition into our feral era.”

Asmo thinks it’s kind of gross, but he asks if maybe eating moss is good for the skin or something (because he can’t think of any other reason MC would even consider eating moss).

When they tell him that’s not why, he gives them a troubled stare with his arms crossed over his stomach. “Uhm, hun. Why are you eating it then?”

Even if MC tells him that it tastes good, there’s no way he’s trying it unless it has incredible health and beauty effects. He can’t stomach the thought of it.

After the disgust washes over him, the concern floods his system instead. He asks if MC is sure that they can and should be eating moss. Regardless of what MC tells him, Asmo will go to Satan or Lucifer (probably both) to make sure that MC isn’t putting themselves in any danger. He couldn’t handle it if MC got sick. All that stress would destroy his skin (and break his heart beyond repair).

Once he ensures MC’s health, he tries to just let MC do their thing. “Just please don’t eat that stuff around me, ‘kay? And if you eat it, please brush your teeth before you kiss me.”

Beelzebub

“Aw, MC, are you hungry? I’m sure we have something more delicious than moss in the fridge. I was just on my way to get a snack. I’ll pick one up for you too, okay?”

He’s probably eaten some moss in his time. He’s no stranger to eating weird things, so his reaction is the least judgmental.

Sometimes moss looks delicious, right? It just makes sense to him that they would want to try eating it.

Beel will definitely ask them to spare some of their moss so he can try it, too. If the moss tastes relatively bad, he might be weary of their tastes in the future, but as long as eating it won’t hurt them, Beel doesn’t care.

Beel is probably the only one who would try to suggest tastier methods of eating the moss. “What about putting it on top of ice cream? Or maybe in a cheeseburger. Mmm. . . cheeseburger. A moss salad might be more appetizing, too. I could blend it into a smoothie or some soup for you. How does that sound?”

It makes him feel a bit comforted that they both have eating habits that others think are weird – like it brings them closer and is a special connection only they can share.

Belphegor

He’s seen Beel bite into a pillar at the castle when he’s hungry. He’s not too troubled by a bit of moss-eating.

Belphie trusts MC not to be stupid enough to ingest moss that would be toxic to them, and not worrying saves him a bit of energy and time. Additionally, I think Belphie would be relatively knowledgeable about plants, so he would probably be able to tell if what MC is eating is likely to kill them.

For the most part, he just doesn’t care. MC could even kiss him with fresh moss breath, and he won’t give a shit. It’s probably better than morning or fish breath, and he’s still getting a kiss, so he doesn’t see a reason to complain.

He won’t be ultra supportive like Satan, but he will be a bit more enthusiastic about it than others – mostly because it gives him an idea for a prank. He could make soup with moss in it, have MC bring a bowl to Lucifer, and eat one themselves so he isn’t suspicious. Then Lucifer would end up eating moss soup. He could probably do that with multiple types of food, too.

One (stupid) point of contention will be that Belphie thinks moss is better as a pillow than as a snack, but he acknowledges that’s a ridiculous difference of opinion. However, that could be a nice date idea: find a mossy forest where he can take a nap while MC gets to snack on moss.

He will probably get scolded by Lucifer and Mammon for enabling MC’s behavior (and not at all because he goes on weird moss dates with MC).

You knew that Chan would want to get in the hot tub the second you surveyed the Airbnb. You figured that one of the guys could join him, you weren’t sure if you’d be able to handle being in it with him and only him

Alas, he invited you anyway, to which you agreed to because you could never say no to him. Here he sat, right in front of you, head rolled back and soaking up the warm water. “This is the fucking best.”

It would be more enjoyable if he had a shirt on. Maybe then, you’d be able to stop drooling. You’d be able to focus on literally anything other than his body. He was your friend, your closest friend, you shouldn’t be looking at him like that

Who could blame you? Chris was one of the most handsome guys you’d ever laid eyes on. There was no denying your attraction, but times like these were the ones you hated the most because he seemed to catch your staring every single time

“Like what you see?” He joked with a laugh. Oh, if only he knew

“How funny,” Minho scoffed, standing over the single bed that the two of you were supposed to share overnight. The managers must’ve forgot that they were supposed to book a double for this stay, since you’d be attending. “Well, what can we do? Just a night, right?”

It was his first priority to make sure that this scenario didn’t make you uncomfortable. If it did, he was ready to sleep on the floor, but he relaxed once you plopped down on the mattress. “Guess so. Go shower first, you stink.”

With a roll of his eyes, he did as told, leaving you to stare at the ceiling and mentally prepare yourself. This would be your first time sleeping side by side despite knowing him for over a decade. It would be easier if you didn’t have a raging crush on him

“You look nervous,” he teased from the doorframe, scaring you. With a laugh, he dried his hair off and got himself comfortable on his side. “If you are, just say the word. Speak now or forever hold your peace.”

You responded by getting under the covers as well, quick to turn out the lights on your side, hoping that’ll help calm yourself down. God, your palms were so sweaty. Everything went well until he started tossing a bit, back now pressed right against yours. This was gonna be fun

changbin can’t seem to find a good place for his hands

Going around with the guys meant that space was limited. They came as a pack and moved as a pack, all of them shoving into the same vehicle to go from place to place. So, when you were nearly sat in Changbin’s lap, you couldn’t even be surprised

You preferred being in his personal space than any of the others, only because you’ve known him since school. Most of the time, you were with them as you were his best friend, so you’ve gotten used to their presence. Just not quite at the point where you’d sit on them if need be

A pair of hands placed themselves on your lap and you instantly froze. Of course, there wasn’t a place for Changbin to keep his hands to himself. Of course, he’d have to reach over you to rest, why were you so shaken up about it?

Was it because you’ve been helplessly in love with him for years? Yeah, that would sure do it. You felt that you couldn’t move a single inch, nearly jumping out of your skin once he started sliding them up and down, not even thinking about it because he was so comfortable with you

“You okay?” Hyunjin asked from beside you, laughing knowingly at your shocked expression. Changbin extended his neck to look your way, just barely catching sight of the sweat gathering near your neck. “You look a little hot over there.” Leave it to the boys to blow your cover

hyunjin has a staring problem

You thought you were going crazy when you felt something, someone burning holes into the side of your face as you slouched over the table, trying to get some work done as you waited for Hyunjin to finish up his meal

“Is there something on my face?” You quirk a brow at him, patting all over your cheeks. It was obvious that he was staring at you, and if you were honest, his gaze made you squirm in your seat. It was intense and usually you could read him, but right now, he was impossible

He barely shook his head, eyes locked on your lips. It was so blatantly obvious and you wondered if this was on purpose or if he genuinely couldn’t tell how forward he was being. Regardless, you could feel yourself heating up and there was no stopping the butterflies that flooded your stomach

He’s always just been stupid Hyunjin that all the girls liked. He’s always been a silly guy that liked to read and listen to stories and perform. He’s always been your companion, someone who you could go to without judgement and be yourself around

So why now? Why do you want to shy away from him? Why does he suddenly have such an intense effect on you with a single gesture? Why does his eye contact make your heart beat out of your chest?

“I was wondering where you’ve been!” You called out rather loud, announcing his position to the entire building. In a panic, he tugged you over to him and clamped a hand over your mouth. At first, you wanted to fight back, ask him what the hell his deal was

Then again, this was Hannie. He surely did something that caused one of the members to be turning the dorm upside down to look for him. So, understanding the situation, you shut your mouth

Yet, he didn’t let go. He still had a rough hand over your mouth, keeping your sounds quiet. You were sure that he could feel the heat in your cheeks, you were sure he could feel the rate of your breathing. You were held quite tightly against him after all

Everything was semi-calm until you locked eyes. You’ve always been able to communicate with a single look, but right now, you weren’t sure what he was feeling. It was new, he looked a way that you’ve never seen before. What was it?

felix invited you to watch him perform

Everyone knows that Felix’s duality is insane. He’s a beast on stage, a total 180 from the normal Felix that you’d see every single day. You agreed when your best friend offered you tickets to watch him do what he does best, after all, you’re a supportive friend

You couldn’t help but see him in a new light after watching him devour the concert. His movements when dancing are so precise, his jaw locks in place when he’s concentrated, his voice is killer and smooth at the same time

“Did you enjoy yourself out there?” Felix shot you a hearty smile and you almost felt bad for feeling so attracted to him. He just did what he always does, he gave every song and choreo his all. It’s not his fault that you’re now noticing the appeal that everyone else around you seems to see

You could tell that he was studying your expression, hopefully not examining the way that your eyes were shaking and the way that your chest started rising and falling a bit faster at the proximity. That would probably give you away.

There was no fighting him. He probably had you figured out already. With a large gulp, you gave a nod. “Great as always.”

seungmin doesn’t give a single fuck and flirts directly

It was hard to tell when Seungmin was playing with you or being serious. You’ve never been able to differentiate the two and it’s only gotten worse throughout the years, he’s gotten bolder with the comments he’d make and it’s starting to make your mind wander

Whether it’s offering his hand when walking across the street or changing out of his attire into comfy clothes over FaceTime, there are moments when you question what type of relationship you have with him

He does this all on purpose too. “Stop dressing up so nice lately,” Seungmin puts a hand over his heart, acting faint. Another one of those times where you aren’t sure if he’s just messing with you. “You’ll make me fall in love.”

Whatever he’s doing, whatever he’s aiming for, he needs to stop. It’s gonna start working because you’re noticing that you’re holding your breath, waiting for the next action or comment. Waiting for another old lady to tell you in public that you’re such a cute couple like the lady from last week

You don’t smile like you usually do. You don’t laugh. Instead, your eyes soften up and he watches the way that your breath hitches in your throat. Oh.

jeongin gets stuck in the heat of the moment

It wasn’t often that the two of you would bicker, but right now, Jeongin was very clearly not the happiest person in the world. You had gone against what he advised and went on a date with someone that had a sketchy history, especially without telling anyone

You’re allowed to do what you want but he just hates to know that you aren’t safe. You were told about yourself as soon as you came back to the dorm, ready to moan and groan about how bad it went

“Why didn’t you listen?” He asked from his spot on the table, watching you in his peripheral as you slumped against the kitchen counter. You could only shake your head and sigh because he was right

“I was curious.” He seemed to dislike your answer, erupting from his seat and backing you further into the counter, both arms locking you in place on either side. You weren’t scared or surprised, he’s always been a little protective about things like this. It was just one of the things that came with being his childhood best friend

The air seemed thicker and it was suddenly unbearably hot. You could feel his breath hit your cheek and you were sure that locking eyes was the worst idea. So, you sat this one out

how do you get over the social anxiety of wearing something "unusual"? i've wanted to wear lolita fashion for years but just can't muster the courage

So, for me, wearing lolita actually helps with my anxiety because yeah, it's absolutely weird. And there is something very freeing about not trying to fit in. Yes, people may think it's weird. But I know it's weird. I'm purposely being weird. So I don't have to care if people think I'm weird, because I'm trying to be weird. People generally don't say mean things, or give me dirty looks when I'm out by myself, honestly more often I'll get random compliments? And people smile more genuinely? I try just to be extra nice when I dress up too, so like, I'll make sure I smile if a kid stares, or if someone comes up to talk to me, or if I'm in a checkout line I try to be more friendly/nice than average. So like, being extra nice kind of becomes a shield I put up to make it harder for anyone not to be nice back to me. That said, I do tone it down more for like, going to the mall, than I would for going to a convention. I don't typically wear wigs and 3 headbows when I'm going shopping like I might for a meetup or a convention. That's another thing, going to meetups with other lolita or spaces like anime conventions where lots of people are cosplaying can help with getting used to being in public in lolita without being the only person dressed "weird". Like, when there is a whole flock of lolita, people do stare more, but there are a bunch of other people who can deflect questions. Gothic and classic also can be easier to wear in public alone than sweet. And then with sweet, fruit prints also are a lot more "normal" to non lolita than like, carousel or toy prints. So, if I don't want to be bothered, I'll wear brown or black classic / old school, or I'll just pick like a gingham and cherry dress and style it somewhat casually. It also helps me to have a task. So, like, I used to bring my camera to cons as a new lolita and I would take photos of other people's outfits or cosplay. Going up to someone and telling them you love their outfit and asking for a photo in a setting where that is encouraged like a convention center, or asking them where they got something, can be a great way to meet people with a positive first impression. When I'm shopping, I'm actively shopping , so I focus on the task at hand. I also tend to catastrophize, so, I think for me as well thinking "ok what's the worst that could happen and what would the solution be?" can help? Like, what is the worst that could happen? Someone looks at me funny or yells "where are your sheep" and then... what happens next logically? I don't care about that person. I don't know them. I'm probably not going to see them again. Who cares if they like my coord or not. They don't even know what lolita is. So why should I let them dictate how good I feel about myself today? Their opinion doesn't matter, they are being a jerk, and if they make me feel uncomfortable I can leave. And I just sort of find solutions or ways I would handle and resolve those situations I'm nervous might happen. Now, if you don't already imagine bad things happening, I'm not suggesting you intentionally do that, but more like, if you already have those sorts of thoughts, interrupting them with logical arguments is something I find helps me. If you are going to like school or something where you will see the same people again often, I'd suggest slowly easing into a style change. So maybe you start doing your hair with braids, and then wear more dresses in general and just of kind of slowly change your style to be more lolita-like until it is just lolita. Finally, I'm not a mental health professional, I'm just a lolita with generalized anxiety / panic disorder. What works for me may not work for others and this isn't medical advice.

The Pig:

Amanda appreciates that you’re so good at reading people. Or in this case mask expressions. She doesn’t like to take her mask off, even outside trails. This means that if you want to get to know her, you need to get to know her through the mask. Her mask isn’t very expressive but there are clues you can look for to figure out how she’s feeling. A head tilt means she’s listening, her head going back means she’s annoyed. Amanda says a lot with very little once you learn how to read her.

Her eyes show a lot of emotion and you often stand so that you can see them clearer in the light. She thinks it’s odd you’ll stand just off to the left or directly in front of her but there’s a reason. Pig isn’t going to stop you from doing what you want, even if it’s going to get you hurt. She thinks it’s funny when you go to get a better angle and then trip on a tree root or step into a hole. Her laughter might sound mocking but it’s one of the only times you hear her laugh so you’ll take it.

She will get jealous if you spend time reading the other killers like you do her. She wants to be special to you and takes that very seriously. Even if you’re only doing it to stay alive, a part of her is going to be huffy. Make sure to spend extra time with her or ask her what she wants to do. Amanda will take things into her own hands and if you really want to see her face, this might be a good way to gently hint that she needs to express herself. The Pig might grumble but she does care about you and wants you to be happy.

The Huntress:

It’s not something that Anna notices at first, she’s too busy watching you. You’re so interested in the world around you that it can be hard to look away. She’s drawn to you like a moth to flame. It takes some time for her to notice that more often than not you’re staring back at her. She knows that it’s hard to tell what she looks like and where her attention is, her mask is designed that way on purpose. Even so, you always seem to know when she’s watching and it makes her feel good to have so much of your attention.

It can unnerving to be the center of your attention; you read her so well and it makes her feel vulnerable. Anna isn’t use to being the one exposed, the one hunted. There’s a part of her that likes it and another that hates it. When she first realizes that you can read her like a book she’s not pleased, not taking it out on you but stomping around trials. As she gets used to it and understands that it’s part of how you express your affection, it gets a lot easier for her to handle. On bad days it can still be too much and she’ll end to spend some time alone before spending time with you again.

Anna is fairly neutral if you’re good at reading other people. It makes her smile behind her mask when you route other killers or tease the other survivors. She doesn’t get jealous easily but when she does, it’s with other killers who have masks. She knows the kind of focus you have to have to read them that well and it can make her feel insecure. Give her extra affection after trails like this and all will be forgiven.

The Artist:

She thinks that it’s fitting you’re able to read her so well. Carmina isn’t very expressive anymore and does her best to come off as cold and elusive. She can’t deny that she’s been drawn to you but the better you get at reading her, the more she wants to follow you. It’s your eyes she later realizes, when the urge to stalk is gone and she’s thinking about the trial. She loves your eyes; even more so when they’re fixed on her. She becomes determined to keep your attention as much as possible.

It’s not hard for Carmina to keep you entranced; she has a presence that’s hard to ignore but when you’re in her sights? You’re only torn away when it’s forced. It doesn’t start as love, it’s defiantly fascination but it goes from like to love quickly. She loves that she hardly needs to say anything, one glance and you know what she’s feeling. It’s a power rush she hasn’t felt in a while and she embraces it completely.

Carmina begins to show off when she knows you’re looking, making things seem completely random but it’s all for you. It’s flattering to see new pieces of art that relate to you in some way. It’s not super obvious but it may be more use of your favorite color or a landscape you enjoy. She’s not easily jealous but she does get annoyed if people have no idea you’re together. When she wants everyone to know they will and then her affection can overflow like a river.

Hunk’s nose always twitches when he’s about to throw up.

It’s something Lance noticed over the years. Inevitably, right before a muffled gag or a hunch in his shoulders, Hunk’s nose would give the slightest twitch. Sometimes Lance thought his nose knew he was about to blow before his brain did.

Of course, the nose twitch wasn’t the only way Lance could see the catastrophe coming. In fact most of Hunk’s tells were pretty dependant on outside factors — some people cracked under pressure but Hunk, in a way, exploded. Hunk’s moms didn’t call on schedule? Lance knew to guide his best friend to the nearest washroom. Exams coming up? Lance kept a bag on him. (He stopped feeling any kind of squeamish about it when they were about 13.) The cafeteria was serving those nasty ass mashed potatoes again? Looks like they’re choosing a table next to a trash can.

The point was that Lance didn’t need some asshole condescending doctor to tell Hunk that most of his stomach bugs were psychosomatic. Anyone with eyes in their fuckin’ head could puzzle that one out.

The problem, fucking obviously, came with solving the issue.

Hunk — and by extension, the people around him — had done everything he could to make himself less prone to upchucking. Back before they head known that a lot of it was caused by anxiety, he’d cycled through a stupid amount of meds and treatments for a shitty immune system he didn’t have. There was a point where he and Lance used to joke that Hunk had experienced every medical side effect known to man.

It was funny in a very, very sad way.

It was almost worse that it all boiled down to mental health, though. It made the whole thing that much easier to dismiss.

Lance lost count of the amount of detentions he got cussing people out for being a dick to Hunk. And the amount of flack Hunk received for low attendance, for class disruption, and whatever other bullshit Garrison admin cooked up, was ridiculous. At the very best, it kind of levelled up to a…tolerance, almost? Over the years the two of them had become so adept with handling Hunk’s anxiety that it became easier and easier to manage.

Thus, the nose twitching. So when they’re at a diplomatic meeting, one dreadfully boring morning, Lance sees Hunk’s nose twitch ever so slightly after a comment on the effectiveness of one or two paladin’s fighting styles — namely, that of the yellow and red paladins, who seemed to be very prone to refusing risk in name of team safety.

Lance pulls out a solution fast.

He admits that turning his blaster to stealth mode and shooting a leg of the meeting table without anyone seeing, causing a the entire table to collapse and halt in anything other than dealing with the New Matter At Hand, might have been the slightest amount of overkill. He probably could have just, like, excused the two of them, or something.

Oh, well.

Instead he hurriedly rushes Hunk down the twisting corridors of the planet’s parliament building, desperately trying to remember where he saw the bathroom on the way in.

“Lance? What’s going on? Why are you —” Hunk interrupts himself with a gag. “Oh,” he says queasily, “that’s why.”

“Just a little longer, buddy,” Lance assures, and luckily he’s proved correct seconds later.

He pulls Hunk into the bathroom in the literal nick of time, the yellow paladin hunched over the toilet mere nanoseconds before the retching begins. Lance crouches beside him, placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder and digging around his fanny pack pouch thing (Altean uniforms are weird as shit) for a water bottle.

“Why does this happen to me,” Hunk asks miserably.

Lance knows this is rhetorical, so he keeps his mouth shut. Hunk has said this dozens of times before, after all. He doesn’t need Lance’s cajoling, probably.

But Hunk continues, wiping his mouth and accepting the water bottle, sipping slowly. “I haven’t had an anxiety attack in weeks.” He scoffs. “There hasn’t been fuckin’ time for it with all the other shit.” His expression turns somber again, glancing down at his knees. “Why do I keep — I don’t know. Struggling, I guess? It doesn’t make sense.”

That sounds less rhetorical.

“You didn’t just…outgrow you anxiety,” Lance points out. “I mean, yeah, you’ve essentially had to shut off the part of your brain that feels fear to do this job. Not literally, but you know what I mean. We all have. But, man —” he nudges Hunk until he looks up at him, brown eyes meeting brown. He smiles slightly, trying to convince some of the defeatedness out of Hunk’s face. “You’re still a massive worry wart, Hunk. You think about shit. All the time. And unfortunately for you, you’re smart as hell, so all that thinking helps you identify a million and one problems with everything. And that stresses you out.”

Hunk snorts. “I guess so. But you’re smart, too, and you don’t throw up all the time.”

“That’s ‘cause I cry, dude.” Lance hadn’t meant it as a joke — he really does cry all the time, which is endlessly fucking annoying, especially when he’s trying to argue with someone — but Hunk laughs, which makes Lance grin, too. “Anxiety is a bitch. I know. But I’ve got you, dude.” He reaches out and grabs Hunk’s hand, squeezing gently. “Okay?”

Hunk squeezes back, smiling. “Thanks, Lance. I’ve got you too.”

Summary: You've been traveling with Vic'tao and Uihoy for around two human years. Over the course of that time, you've come to learn and understand these aliens now called your lovers. They have duties to preform to ensure your safety and the clan's as well. You understand the work they do is important but you were only human. That doesn't mean you don't get bored and alone while they work. As any other human, you do what is best for your mental health and go to bother them.

Masterlist

Stars slowly passed by as you walked into the main cabin of the star ship you were currently on. Your gaze dragged to outdoors and watched the distant solar systems move by. It made your heart throb momentarily. Earth was far away at this point but it was your first home. Everything that you knew and loved had to be left behind. Your life now was different, a good different.

Two loving and caring lovers. Which both are on this ship, in the same room as you. Yet, neither were giving you any attention. Their screens were filled with the symbols that made up their language, one you could read, not fluently, but enough to get the idea of it. Your eyes caught something about a group of rogue Yautjas leaving a bloody and gory mess in their wake. The two hunters before you weren’t enforcers but freelancers per say. Whatever the Elders wanted done back on Yautja Prime, your lovers did so. The added skulls and honor kept your little group well fed and happy.

Though, the Elders weren’t the happiest when they showed up one day with you. One of the Elders dared to challenge them. That ended his life pretty quickly.

After everyone heard and/or saw the gruesome battle, no one stood in their way again. A fearsome duo not to be messed with. Funny enough, Vic’tao wasn’t much before Uihoy met him. Vic was the youngest of the group and learned a lot from Uihoy. Then they found you. It was almost a year before the group landed on Yautja Prime and that whole fiasco happened.

Clicks drew you from your thoughts and looked over to the two working Yautjas. Uihoy had his head turned just to the side but his gaze was still focused on his screen. Since he was speaking in the Yautja language, you knew he wasn’t speaking towards you. Vic’tao sat close by, his own screen pulled up and claws dancing along it.

Their written language was a lot easier for you to understand. When they tried to talk with you, all it seems to do is go in one ear and out the next. But you tried, you really tried. Your ears strained to pick up any nouns or words you’ve come to know.

Nothing simply came to you besides what sounded like your name. You rolled your eyes and strolled further into the room. Both aliens didn’t turn to greet you though, either too preoccupied with the work or their talk. After the two human years with them, you know that they knew you were there. Hunters, born and raised and bred to be the universes most dangerous species. No one smart enough dared to get in their way; humans aren’t on that list as you’ve come to learn.

Instead of letting them easily ignore you, you decided to step next to Vic’tao’s chair. Before you got within ten feet, Uihoy gaze returned back to the screen. It wasn’t unusual for them to, in a way, ignore you when in the middle business. They told you this would happen when handling cases. You’ve come to terms with it over time.

Yet, the male wouldn’t give you a piece of his time. Finding that group was important but after five days of this, a couple of times they’ve landed on different planets, you needed some sort of attention. They haven’t learned this just yet, as much as you hated it. You hated it worse when you had to be direct like them for them to get the idea. Acting that way was a last resort. That’s what you had to do now. Act.

Vic’tao swiped at some symbols without acknowledging your presence. Your face fell into an annoyed look. So, you decided to take things into your own hands and poked him into the shoulder. The muscle there didn’t even move at the action. It didn’t do anything to get his attention on you. “Vic, come on. I’m bored, I’ve ran out of book to read days ago. I need attention, please,” you begged with your hands clasped before you.

The male didn’t even falter in his movements, eyes studying the work before him. His free mandibles twitched with a soft chitter but you knew that wasn’t because of you. With his young agility, when he found something, he wasn’t about to let go. Like a lion and a zebra within its claws. Sometimes, that aided him. Other times, it didn’t with you.

You poked him again. No reaction. Again. Still nothing. Five more times. Not a twitch or reaction. “Vic, babe, love. Can’t we cuddle for just an hour. I’ll stop bothering you?” you attempted to reason but silence from him. Damn him and his training.

So be it. “I’m not going to stop poking you until you give me some attention,” you stated firmly and began to constantly poke the younger male. Still, he gave no indication that he even knew that I was there.

Uihoy chittered something to his partner, nothing you could understand. Damn him! He spoke too quickly for you to decipher anything of importance. With a scowl, you started to poke harder but still received nothing in return. At this point, Vic was probably hoping for you to get tired and leave. On any other normal day, you probably would’ve. It was too late to go back now. They’ve been neglecting you.

When both arms got tired after what felt like hours on end, you rest your forehead on his shoulder. He tensed underneath but didn’t falter in his work.

Then, an idea hit you.

A smirk grew on your features. This has to get his attention! You latched your mouth onto his shoulder and bit him as hard as you could.

Vic yelped and pulled away. You released him from your hold and looked smugly at him. “Now, will you give your mate attention or do I have to bite you again. Not that I mind.” See, you didn’t like to be direct but this was needed. Anything to get his attention back on you. He turned his head to face you, brows lowered into an annoyed look. Uh oh.

Whoops, maybe you pushed it a bit far. You took a step back with your lips pressed together. As you opened your mouth to apologize, Uihoy chattered to Vic’tao once more. It was short then he spoke English towards you. “C’mere, sit in my lap till I’m done working,” Uihoy offered and motioned for you to come over to him.

That was probably the best course of action. Before you followed through though, you quickly pecked Vic’s shoulder where you bit him and scrambled over to Uihoy. Said male used one arm to lift you off of the ground into his lap. You gasped and clung to his arm. You were promptly dropped into his lap.

The shock was simply washed away with a smirk that was thrown at Vic. Said male shook his head and tapped on the screen before him.

Uihoy smacked the side of your head. “Don’t be smug.” Unfortunately, he had a point so you had to listen to him. You settled down in Uihoy’s lap and kept his arm close to your stomach, not allowing him to have it back.

Instead of being ignorant, you began to read the letters before you. The yellow light was harsh on your human eyes in the low light but you pushed through.

Once in a while, he got to an interesting part where it could important for them. Uihoy was about to swipe away from the video when you stopped him. His tresses slid over his shoulder as he tilted his head. “What do you see, little hunter?” he questioned.

Similar to Vic’tao, you’ve come a long way to become a better hunter. Never as good as them due to your stature. That didn’t deter you from helping them every once in a blue moon. And they seemed to love when you did. That’s how you gained many of the scars that decorated your body.

You got onto your knees and carefully pointed out a point of interest on the screen. The male leaned closer as well, eyes squinted and keeping a steady hold on you. You may have come a long way for fighting, doesn’t mean you aren’t still clumsy as fuck. Both of them knew this and kept a watchful eye on you while out and about.

When he saw what you saw, he hummed and typed something in. Most likely marking the spot for later reference. Uihoy pulled you back towards him and nuzzled his strange mouth to the back of your neck. “Watchful eye, little hunter. I’m proud of you,” he praised. You smiled shily and shrugged your shoulders. It’s not often they give compliments about that sort of thing as they are on top of things.

Over to your left, Vic’tao makes a grumbling noise. That you heard. “Well, if you weren’t such an ass to me, maybe you would be getting cuddles instead of Uie,” you snarked at him and turned your nose up at him. He gave you one last look out of the corner of his eye before returning back to work.

does the peanut choir in Quiets head become too much? Does he ever just stare into space engaging in the latest nonsensep while the princess can only wonder what is going on in there? and conversely does the princess ever have times when all of her facets pulling in different directions become too much?

💗 the times where the princess interrupts the voices because birdie has been silent for a really long time were sooo funny. i understand that the game can't make that joke every single time the voices go on and on, but the peanut choir really cannot keep quiet, can they?

(as a side note, what the hell is going on with the poll? why is smitten so popular? i honestly cannot stand him. yellow and i will be posting our individual tier lists for the voices at some point, and smitten is easy at the very bottom for me. if anyone could explain the hype, i'd appreciate it)

The voices can be... distracting.

- The Voices™ are great, really, don't get him wrong. They all mean the best, even if they have wildly different opinions on pretty much everything. But with those differing opinions comes many, many, many arguments, and while it's possible for the Quiet to tune them all out, he feels kind of bad about leaving them alone.

- Sometimes he can't help but engage in the conversation, especially when they often involve himself or an important decision. Usually nowadays it's all trivial matters, and the Quiet finds silent entertainment in sitting back and listening to them all bicker about proper grammar or music tastes.

-The Quiet is pretty decent at responding to the voices in his head, though he will sometimes slip up. He might be washing the dishes and the Princess will walk by and hear him mutter, "This plate was too expensive, I'm not turning it into a shiv."

- There are times when he doesn't realize, however, that the Princess is standing nearby--often right in front of him--with a questioning look, playing her game of "How Long Will it Take for the Bird to Notice Me." The Quiet has before emerged from his own head to a hand waving in his face, to a card game being all set up and ready to go, to hats being stacked on his head. The Princess finds it entertaining at least and doesn't seem to mind too much when he spaces out mid-conversation.

- Sometimes she asks what was going on in there. Sometimes the Quiet can't answer without hours and hours of context. When that's the case, the Princess tells him that she's lost interest.

- The few times where the arguing becomes too much and he can't help but shut them out, he feels awful. It's just too much for his head to handle sometimes. The Princess knows that the Quiet needs some dim lights, cuddles, soft kisses, and whispered reassurances. The voices are all pretty apologetic when he finally tunes back into them and are quieter for a while after.

- A few of the voices have gotten to know the signs of the Quiet reaching his breaking point. Usually it's the Narrator who notices first, though there are times when he's too caught up in an argument to realize. The Paranoid or the Cold are the most likely to notice after the Narrator. The Hero is... bad at realizing, but once he's made aware, he is one of the most active in getting everyone to cool down or at least be quieter.

The facets can be overwhelming.

- The Princess does sometimes experience something similar, though instead of voices in her head, she gets strong, conflicting emotions. She has to sit out and take a breather lest she blow up at the Quiet out of frustration like she used to, allow herself to listen to and feel all of her emotions, understand what they're trying to tell her. It's exhausting and takes a lot of mental energy.

- Some facets will overtake others. It's easier for the Quiet to tell if facets like the Beast or the Witch are the most dominating, and he's quickly able to advise the Princess to take a deep breath and take some time to herself. Ones like the Prisoner and the Damsel, though, are more difficult to detect and are scary in their own right.

- She'll often disappear into the bedroom and close all the curtains to lay in the darkness in silence. The Quiet knows not to disturb her, waiting for her to come back on her own time, offering a hug, a cup of tea, a game, or an ear if she needs it.

- The Princess still loses her cool sometimes, angry tears streaming down her cheeks as she races to the bedroom and slams the door shut. She's incredibly ashamed and apologetic after she's taken time to collect herself, and the Quiet is understanding and reassuring.

- They're both aware of what each other needs by now, able to offer the right kind of support without really needing to ask. It's not always easy, but it's them.

Almost 3am trigun brianrot time! This is long so be prepared

Tldr: it's about my idea of trigun 98 being the body, stampede the mind and trimax the soul

Ok so I was thinking about how TF I'm gonna handle trimax for @vashsscoreboardofpain (follow that is gonna be funny) and then I remembered an idea for a master post I wanted to do. I still want to make it but sadly I'm not at a stable position rn to do so. Maybe one day. But I still wanted to put that idea cuz it's slowly taking more form

Now, when I mean X is Y I mean it in a "this version of trigun has everything yes, but highlights Y the most and I think that's neat." Also it applies for all the characters but tonight I'm gonna focus on vash cuz im a vash enjoyer first and a person second. Yes my favorite character is the main one sue me.

Anyway, let's go

Trigun 98 is the body and vash encapsulates this idea in an interesting way. Plant powers aren't really a thing in this version so he is more like a super human with a fucked up arm. This makes him the closes to humans he's ever gonna be. But even if he doesn't have powers on this one, it was his and knives' bodies the cause that one guy's fear (its 3am I don't remember). He's afraid of how fast they grow and how much they learn. 98 also highlights vash's body being like everyone else's. He gets hurt multiple times, he needs nurses and kind people to look after him. Not only during the eriks episode but also on the episode after he kills legato. He also shows vulnerability by getting so drunk he needs to really focus to aim. He needs food and water. 98 Vash is really the closest one to humanity than the other 2, but only because of his physical attributes. Only because of his body, which bring him trouble most of the time. His vulnerable body is the cause of his misery, but it also allowed him to get close to people

Stampede is the mind cuz yeah, they had a specific mind palace episode (which I loved I ate that shit right up) but also because it does give us an easier access to everyone's mental state. We get to see this vash speedrun so many psychological problems in 12 episodes and is not gonna slow down. We literally get to see the guilt and terrors that plague his mind and how his mental fortitude exists thanks to other people. Also if you notice it, people just diagnose him left and right on stampede. Roberto picks up the ED signs, most characters tell him he has a death wish, nai straight up tells him he's doing good things out of guilt and vash allows himself to think about his contradictions outloud in episode 12 and why does he do the things he does (something that would be a therapy exercise I wanna say). Stampede is the mind cuz everyone is getting retrospective

And finally, trimax is the soul because it has more time to dwell on the characters emotions than any other version will ever give us. Instead of straight up diagnosis, trimax will give us panels to show us how vash feels about a situation. Instead of showing vash hurt from the horrors done to his body, trimax will focus on his pain. On his eyes that refuse to look at his own terrifying body that we can see, but only he can feel. What I mean is trimax is designed to drown us with emotion. The other versions are emotional af too, but trimax has that raw emotion up its sleeve. Trimax does nor dwell on the multiple scars vash has or his many Many mental problems. It shows us how fucked up vash's thoughts are about his body and his sins and we get to say "ohhhh...oh no". Trimaxs emotion is so heavy to bear that the body nor the mind are still present, but in comparison to the soul, they aren't highlighted. People say eyes are the windows of the soul and honestly I feel like you can learn so much of vash just from looking at his eyes. Once you focus on his soul and emotions you just can't let go of the feeling that this man will be drowned by his own emotions. Both positive and negative.

I want to rewrite this one day. Fuck, I'm pretty sure I got the Google doc somewhere. But I also wanted to put that idea out there. Because this doesn't mean one version is better than the other. It means that they all highlight different parts but they all end up in the same conclusion: trigun is about connections and alienation and love and peace

And vash needing therapy. Desperately.

What do you think Hunter’s first daydream/dream/fantasy of Willow was like? Rather, the first time his brain subconsciously started telling him he has a crush? One where he was like, “Holy Titan this is different!” I want to know your take on it!

Oh his subconscious was TRYING to tell him literally that night after meeting her but Hunter blatantly refused to process the truth of the matter cuz it was just too much for him to mentally handle. He was all like "hahaaaa....friend.... :)"

Like "It'll only be 52 weeks before Caleb's next day off"??? Not only has this girl confirmed that she still considers him a friend (She's his friend!!! Hunter's stomach does backflips at the thought it of it.) but she also makes clear that she would like to see him again. 52 weeks....in 52 weeks he's gonna see Willow....there is no way that's not going to cause his mind to wander about the possibilities.

Oh and the pensta chatting. The pensta chatting makes it a billion times worse. Cuz he's here and he's talking to her everyday and he's having so much fun but all he has are her words on a screen. He can't see her face or hear her voice.

He remembers how he blurted out "The Emerald Entrails!", that moment of doubt that he had said something dumb, only for Willow's expression to completely light up in a pretty smile as she touched his shoulder and eagerly began to chant the name he came up with. That was when he knew he had done something right. And those little emojis and exclamation points and 'lol's are cute NICE and makes him all giddy when he gets a positive reaction out of her but he misses the real thing. Which is weird to think because he barely knows the real thing.

Why does he want the real thing so badly?

He misses her.

So he starts to imagine her smiles and her laughter somewhere on the other end of Bonesborough. He knows the hours she's at school. He knows the hours she's working out. So whenever they're not texting, wondering how she's doing is always tucked away in the back of his mind.

As Hunter's crush on Willow fattens up (without him realizing it) the anticipation to see her again only builds. Before he knows it, he falls asleep to the thought of how it's gonna go. What will he say? What will she say? He's writing scripts in his head. He'll be strapping on his armor in the mornings and rehersing his lines in the mirror. He always imagines himself as doing something cool that Willow is very impressed by. And then they'll play Flyer Derby together 🥰

So yeah that is definitely the foundation of Hunter's little Willow daydreams. They don't start off intimate in any way at first. They're very innocent. He just wants to see her. He wants to spend time with her. He wants to talk to her. (He later discovers that talking to her is easier said than done.) So while he definitely has a massive crush on her at this point, his feelings remain repressed because he doesn't have the self awareness to explore them so the explicitly romantic daydreams are still locked behind a paywall.

This shifts into something more heart thumping between the events of LR and COTH where Hunter gradually begins to realize that how he feels about Willow is very very different from how he feels about anyone else. Like Luz. At this point he can admit to himself that he's very fond of Luz. And ever since HP, he has wondered if he'll ever see her again. Her words still stick with him. But she doesn't render him grinning and giggling as he lies awake at night thinking about her. Willow makes vines squirm around in his stomach. It is undeniably different. Even Hunter, the king of mental gymnastics, can't run from that truth forever.

I feel like he didn't quite know he had feelings for Willow during LR. Hell, he was surprised as anybody about how nervous he suddenly became when she was around. But he had observed that she made him feel very funny. In a good way. He mostly just chalked it up to her just being so cool that of course he felt a little starstruck in her presence.

But then Willow yanked him into a hug after the Hexside battle and it changed his brain chemistry. Because she was just!!! So close!!! He could smell her. Her voice was practically in his ear. And she was holding him so tight and secure. It initially startled him beyond comprehension because he is so starved of intimate touch that a hug would absolutely make his endorphins go fucking buckwild and what was happening was so foreign to him that he was frightened of the emotion he felt. He couldn't immediately recognize it as a positive feeling because he had no idea what was going on.

But after?? After Willow let him go and the Hexside students all gathered around to make sure everyone was okay, Hunter was just left standing there, in a complete stupor until Gus pulled him out of it. He still didn't fully understand what had just happened, only that his brain was static because of it.

It takes him a moment to realize that he desperately hopes that whatever that was, she'll do it again.

So those few days/a week he spends with Willow and Gus, Hunter receives a bombardment of physical touch. Usually from Gus. Sometimes Willow too. And Hunter is going absolutely fucking bonkers because Willow's touches are so soft. So fluttery. A hand on his shoulder. A pat on the head. Almost like she knows the effect her touches have and is keeping it to a minimum just to tease him. And it's driving him wild. She'll jokingly pat his cheek and it takes all of Hunter's willpower not to press his face into it. A hand on a shoulder could so easily turn into an arm wrapped around him and pulling him closer. It never does. But that doesn't stop Hunter's kneecaps from melting everytime she touches him so gently and his mind wanders to how it could escalate.

It is astounding what one hug did to him. He hasn't been the same since. But Titan forbid he ask for one. Or initiate himself. Oh no no no that's far too forward.

So yeah, whenever Hunter is left alone and the thought of Willow crosses his mind, he ends up fantasising about being held. Or just. Touched in a way that makes him feel safe. It's a very emotionally charged desire.

Again, while Hunter has definitely reached some awareness that he might be heading down a slippery slope of infatuation, he's still very inexperienced in matters like these. So he doesn't quite know what to fantasise about. But he's had hugs and touching on the brain ever since LR so that's what all his dreams concerning her revolve around.

But then COTH happens and OH BOY. This is when the overload of repressed teenage hormones are finally unleashed. Hunter has spent the last week wanting to be held by Willow because Willow is so sweet and so kind and soft and pretty. But then it finally happens but the nature of it is completely upside down. This is different!!

She swoops in to rescue him and flings him over her shoulder and she's holding him tight but it's not a hug. It's nothing like he was fantasizing about. It's something he has NEVER experienced before but it definitely awakens something in him. She...she's capable of carrying him. She's strong. Girl strong. Arms.. Uhhh..hmm...um. WELL. that's...Ugdhhkk.

This unlocks a new reason that Hunter wants to be held by Willow. Because simply put he thinks Willow is hot.

And that is a whole other set of emotions that Hunter will have to unpack but we won't go into detail about it. But you know how it is with teenagers. Their attractions are borderline feral. Especially if they're experiencing them for the first time.

After Hunter's Strong Girl awakening, he's pretty preoccupied with the Day of Unity to focus on it. It's not until the dust has cleared and he's settled in with Camila that he has the mental capacity to indulge himself with silly little daydreams of Willow effortlessly picking him up.

So now physical attraction has been added to the Hunter crush broth. Now all that's left is for him to observe how Luz and Amity interact with each other, sharing affection that he never really saw up close before and he's beginning to realize that a romantic relationship is....a thing he might actually want? Maybe?? Holding her hand...hm...or....or maybe....

It began as Hunter simply longing to see her in person. To see her smile. To hear her laugh.

Then it escalated to wishing more than anything that she could touch him.

Then the fizzling burst of teen attraction butted its way into the equation and he can't stop thinking about her strong arms.

And now....he wonders what it would be like to kiss her...

Stir that all together and you have a boy who is helplessly in love.

What, Troublemaker? Hm, off the top of my head it's an episode of Missed Opportunity and Unfair Writer Intervention for the Sake of Humiliating the Main Character Unnecessarily.

Penny gets akumatized in "Troublemaker" because she's stretched too thin. She takes on too many responsibilities to the point that the people around her are completely dependent on her and she takes on more duties than she needs to and it overwhelms her.

Hm, sounds a lot like aNOTHER character we know quite well.

Marinette, it's Marinette.

This could've been a good episode to teach Marinette that she needs to find a work/life balance by showing her how it can be detrimental to your own mental health. By having Penny be akumatized over the same thing Marinette often puts herself through (double booking herself, offering up extras like race banners for events that don't need them, making the smoothness of events entirely her own responsibility when it's not) could've made Marinette look at how she handles these things and make changes so she won't be overwhelmed.

They could've changed the ending so that instead of Jagged declaring how much he needed Penny, which was part of the problem, he could've offered some way to HELP Penny - hiring an assistant for her to help her, giving her time off every once in a while, reflecting on his own "demands" (he wanted to eat breakfast off the back of Polar Bear at the start of this episode, maybe he should think about how unnecessary that is?!). It could've shown Marinette that it's okay to ask for help too, maybe reach out to her parents or Alya or Fu (at this point).

But no, we can't do that. If we taught Marinette to have an actual balance over her civilian life and superhero life, we can't have her stuck in awkward situations because she forgot something she promised to do or superheroing pushed all her responsibilities to be due on the same day! And where's the fun in giving Marinette an easier time?

SPEAKING of not giving Marinette an easier time, how about we talk about the fact that her Adrien photos duplicated themselves to cover 5x more of her bedroom just so it would be that much more embarrassing to be shown on live tv? Why was that necessary? She already has his photos up, has a homemade computer screen background of Adrien with hearts on it. Jagged only needed ONE of those things to be just as embarrassing, there is no reason to add photos like wallpaper all over her room or hide them under her...mattress?? And chaise lounge?

Like, is that funny? Did people think it was funny when it came out?

And it amounted to nothing. She was so embarrassed (seriously I would DIE if that were me) and no one teased her, she wasn't bullied by Chloe, and Adrien still thinks she doesn't have feelings for him because after being exposed all over Paris in the most shame inducing way he thought it was a good idea to corner her and try to "confirm" whether or not she had feelings for him and in her panic she lied.

Because what was the show going to do, have her confirm it with only 2 minutes of the episode left? Please.

So now we miss out on Adrien being on the same level as Ladybug, having just realized in Season 2 that Marinette/Chat Noir has feelings for them and navigating their friendships with that new knowledge. Balance? In this show? We don't know her!

It's just so frustrating from a writing perspective that this could've been such a good episode for Marinette to learn a lesson she actually NEEDED, that is applicable to MANY people irl who overwork themselves because they want to be helpful, but the writers made it about the Love Square (big shocker there) and then didn't even do anything interesting with that. They needlessly escalate Marinette's picture collection just to shame her for being in love with the person the writer's WANT her to end up with and then write it off as not a big deal.

The fact that Penny was akumatized instead of Marinette told me everything I needed about where Marinette places in the importance of things tbh.

Solo Leveling Episode 12 Thoughts

The final episode of season 1 was so good! Spoilery thoughts for the anime, novel, and manhwa below:

The fights were just incredible. The animation was gorgeous, all the voice acting and music were excellent, it's just beautiful to watch. Also really loved the anime version of the manhwa scene with Lee Joohee, Song Chiyul, and Sung Jinwoo himself appearing as mental projections. It looks really good and it hits really hard, emotionally. The visual parallels are also handled well. Jinwoo is getting hammered here, and it's nicely done.

It's also interesting to learn that Woo Jinchul was also at the third Jeju Island raid! Even though he was just handling security, he was there. It's nice to emphasize how big of a deal the Jeju raids are to South Korea, because it helps with how messy stuff is later. I like how the show is focusing on trauma and its effects.

I like the emphasis on how a big part of Jinwoo's survival is luck. And I imagine some folks see this as a cheat, though I also like how it just shows the story is sticking to his own rules. It's not like the daily quest ever stopped being a thing. But also like... a lot of this is luck. When you awaken and what rank you awaken to is luck-based, and you're just kind of stuck with it (which is a good metaphor for how people are born, as well, particularly in terms of economic status; folks are randomly born to rich families/otherwise in places with a lot more resources than others and thus have a way easier time in life than other folks because resources are everything; it has nothing to do with ability, and it's massively unfair). If Jinwoo gets a little extra luck kinda because he's hyperfixated on something and it helps him survive, it's actually kind of fair, because at least that's sticking to a system of rules he ignored. And still a nice reflection on an unfair system.

Even the fights in the penalty room are amazing XD I don't go for stuff with giant insects, so the way this was a pleasure to watch was really awesome. I love the animation with Jinwoo flicking the mana potion away. I don't have any screencaps because I'd take far too many. All of the fights are good.

I still love seeing more of Choi Jongin and Cha Haein interact (with a brief cameo of a silent Lee Bora). Really glad the anime added little things like this. It's similar to what happens later, but it's nice to see them working together more.

The end of knight fight is incredible. All his movements are excellent. It's just really impressive.

It's also just really cute the way the notification window follows Jinwoo around the room as he's pondering lol

It's funny while I was reading the manhwa originally I related to this arc a lot as a former warlock player (loved running around with my army of summons who could just overwhelm any opponents, letting me stand safely in the back) but now I'm thinking of it more in terms of a death knight, particularly when Jinwoo is like, "There's no rule that says necromancers can't fight on the front lines". He is not wrong. Particularly if you've ever played the class in Diablo III, which is fun.

Jinchul just looks really pretty here. I love his relationship with Go Gunhee, and I'm still glad we're getting more of it in the anime.

And the Shadow Monarch arrives XD So happy :3 I also really love the nice touch in the manhwa, which the anime included, that the portal opening is purple, foreshadowing this part in the story with all the purple. It was always going to be this way (for other reasons). But it's a nice little visual touch.

Also framing this with Jinwoo being in front of the throne but slightly below it as well is really neat and also good foreshadowing.

He's so delighted by his ability XD I'm happy for him :3 Especially after he got brought so low earlier. He needs the pick-me-up. The shadow soldiers look really neat.

Distracted by the shadow soldier butt highlights alkdjaldja I just alkdjlaj YES IT'S A REALLY TENSE AND FUN SCENE WITH REALLY GREAT MUSIC BUT ALSO ldkjaljalaj (yes I know what codpieces are, I just lakjdlaj). It's not bad art or anything, I am just... Distracted TM roflmao

I like that Jinwoo still apologizes to the soldiers he dismisses, but he's sadder in the novel, and even in the manhwa. In the novel he has this, “He felt bad about getting rid of any of his soldiers. Even though he’d known them for only a few minutes, he was already attached to them.” (Volume 2, Chapter 4: Shadow Monarch by Chugong, Yen Press English release). In the novel and the manhwa he also looks a bit sad about it after apologizing, and thinks on it longer. It's a really humanizing moment for him, and shows how easy it is for Jinwoo to care about and sympathize with even complete strangers, particularly when they're his responsibility. It's not the worst change, and the anime has plenty of other moments that show his humanity, but it's just one of those little things...

I'm really curious about Gunhee's neck scar: who did that and how? In the novel, it's stated that he was too old when he awakened to ever fight as a Hunter: he's never been in a dungeon. The neck scar is part of his design in the manhwa, and he's just generally heavily scarred. He's a neat character who doesn't get explored enough. Looking forward to them expanding even more on him in future cours.

Shadow Igris looks so pretty. (Also there's a moment where he seems to purr around 20:48, which is I just think the sound of the movement of him standing, but it's hummy and sort of purr-like alkdjlaj and it kills me akdjlajal Purring Igris yes, thank you :3). Also, I love that the cape pops out of his back like butterfly wings alkdjalj beautiful. The way he walks around and the camera focuses on him and the click of his heels, just everything about him is so beautifully animated. I love this so much.

Ahh, I figured Jongin's expedition would find the flying ant. And so it begins.

That was such a good episode. An excellent season. Some leaks have stated that there are plans for like 6 cours or 3 regular seasons (and a PV for the end of the series with some spoilery footage), so I'm not that worried about the rest being animated (with some extra anime-original stuff, judging by how many episodes that'd be), though there will seemingly be delays. But with quality like this I'm happy to wait. I hope the crew get the time they need to make more awesome seasons without straining themselves. Ahh this was so GOOD!!!

I feel like this guy might come off as a “total disaster” because his thoughts are like ping pong balls going 1000 mph ricocheting off the edges of his skull 😭

For example, if thoughts were compared to atoms in a solid, liquid, or a gas, his thoughts would probably resemble that of a gas at high temperatures LOL (air!)

He is probably someone who loves to learn about a bunch of different things, and is obsessed with conceptualizing them. I feel like he might be someone who needs a lot of time to properly sit with his thoughts so he can understand them, even if he comes off as someone who is social. He might love to engage people and soak up as much as he can from the interaction, but has to (and wants to) go home and really process it in its entirety. He is probably highly attracted to someone who can stimulate his mind and teach him new things. He can get bored very easily and does not like this feeling. I feel like this is someone who probably sleeps very lightly from all the mental activity going on that he seems very flighty and “tweaky” in waking life.

I feel like he is someone who is attracted to someone’s music taste, and can appreciate someone who is a bit more eclectic because it gives them a puzzle to work out. He’s probably very funny and needs a partner who he can joke around with. He probably finds it easier to commit to someone who he feels like might even be funnier than him, because it keeps him on his toes. He might appreciate a bit of unpredictability!!! 👀

I think he would be best with a partner who gives him space to engage his interests so he can come back and rant about all the cool things he learned.

He might appreciate observing the process of falling in love with someone just as much as the feeling— learning about love and relationship dynamics might be just as fun as feeling it out. He is very good at noticing changes in energy around him. He might get a bit scared in more casual connections when it feels a bit too emotional or vulnerable, just because he’s probably more used to navigating interactions logically. There’s too much confusion that comes by trying to see through the murky waters of emotion. They can make you fall in love with them with their humor and conversation. If they like you, they are texting you allll the time. They’ll send you the funniest things and it’s like they always have a reaction pic for everything you’re talking about. Once they feel comfortable with you, they’ll open up pretty quickly. Their love language can be telling u every little detail that’s on their mind. Gemini Venus men might give you a lot of attention to see if you can hold theirs, but then might disappear the moment the connection feels stagnant. They’ll test out soon into the interaction if they see you as someone they’ll be comfortable talking to everyday. If not, your name is probably removed from their roster LOL.

There was a time I was close with a Gemini mars man, and he let me know he’s actually very selective with choosing a partner to be intimate with. He noticed everything and got icked out very easily. He said he wouldn’t feel true to himself if he got physical with women who he didn’t feel connected to on every level. I feel like he always has great points in an argument and can be intimidating to argue with, not because of aggression, but because of his wit. He’s like a lawyer when he feels passionately about something. He actually found it “ugly” that other men would get aggressive or violent when mad, instead of handling things rationally.

He’s probably very open minded and creative. :)
