*banging pots and pans*
Edit 12/21/23: If you still need a refill urgently and your doc’s already closed, please continue to reach out on 12/22/23! There’s a chance it might not get in before the long weekend, but you won’t know if you don’t try. Either way, the sooner the process starts, the better!
Everybody with maintenance meds, now is the time to get end of the year refills. If it needs to be taken care of before second week of January, reach out ASAP. This goes double for prior auths.
Please understand that virtually every office is short staffed, even with all hands on deck. Most of us are also dealing with some type of lingering issues from COVID, and pharmacies are at a turning point (looking at you, pharmacy tech strikes 👀👌🏽). There’s not just a chance of delays, there’s a likelihood. I just want everyone who can avoid the ER for the next two weeks to do so. It’s going to be even worse than usual.
TL; DR: 12/21/23 morning is pretty much last call for timely med refills through January 5th, 2024.
Best wishes,
Your chronically ill medical scheduler w/ ADHD (who is filing their refills Right Now)
Edit: quoting @morallydiseased in the notes
“That goes for your chronically ill pets too. Don't wait to refill meds only to discover that your animal is overdue for blood work and an exam and you can't get in until mid-January. Shipping sucks ass this time of year so don't wait.”
Edit: one more quote from @kiana996
“Also, if you get your meds through the VA and can't renew online CALL YOUR NURSE LINE. Explain the situation and ask them to help you get the meds renewed. They can connect you quickly to your doctor, or sometimes can just do it through their system.”

A little update
Well, the short of it is: they found two retina holes with a bit of fluid in my left eye. Had to get them lasered up to prevent a retinal detachment. My follow up appointment is in 2 weeks so crossing my fingers that all will be well.

In the past week and a half, I’ve written 5k, including 10 microfics (mostly for the workshop I’m hosting at hpffwg), hit my smart watch’s default fitness goals 5 consecutive days, made dinner three times, and grocery shopped in person.
I’d like to thank spring break, my rheumatologist, and the vitamin b12.

Only spoonies know how validating it is to hear a doctor say, unprompted, that the diagnosis you were given 10 years ago is bullshit and is not actualy recommended to be given anymore.

Just going to nip this in the bud now, but I will not be entertaining any "but what about/have you tried" suggestions in my inbox re: plastic straws.
If you message me about this, I'll be soft-blocking you.
I don't care how well-meaning your intentions are; your intentions don't mean shit when what you're actually saying is, "I am uncomfortable with your clearly stated needs as a disabled person and would rather you harm yourself than do something I have deemed immoral based on corporate greenwashing."
This is not up for debate. You either need to unpack the problematic elements of greenwashing on your own time and continue to be an ally to disabled people, or you need to own what you're actually saying and fuck off.
Anyway. Peace and love. Don't be ableist. Save a sea turtle, kill a big oil CEO ✌.

Me: Okay, I really want to get things done, but I’m sitting down as soon as I get up. Brain, what’s happening?
Brain: Alright, so you know how there’s the ADHD thing?
Me: Yeah, but this doesn’t feel like it’s just that.
Brain: You’re not wrong, but I don’t think you wanna know.
Me: It’s not gonna get better if I don’t figure it out.
Brain: :/
Brain: I’m gonna add them, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Hello. Love your story.
Just wanted to say, don't be worried. I have had those too. Everything will work out. Good luck.
Thanks anon 💜 hopefully our eyes and vision will be fine for all the years to come. Honestly that's really all I'm asking for right now.

I was gonna say ‘shout out to all the people with ‘gross’ chronic health problems who are never going to see themselves in fiction in a positive light because there’s no way to make sitting on the loo for four hours glamorous’ and then realised I’m an author and not a coward so
Which of my beloved OCs should receive my debilitating digestive problems?

Real question, do any of you get tired from going in the shower? Not like oh I had a long day this is just one thing too many today, tired. But I am moderately ok going in, but the second I get out, bam gone are all the spoons.
See I live with people who think taking a shower is refreshing. May in fact boost their energy levels. For me however it’s instant loss of all energy for the day. No matter if I just got out of bed or not.
I don’t know what exactly does it either. Is it the movement, the stretching? It could be I suppose, although you’d expect a more gradual decline. Or if it is my body’s usual way of just going all soufflé as soon as we are done, you’d expect it to hit when you go sit down. But nope. The second I step out of the shower it’s like, I need to sit down or I’m going to be lying down in 0.2 seconds flat.
I’ve considered it might have something to down with the temperature shift, but idk. What I do know is that it’s exhausting and annoying. And I’d like to know if it’s just me.

I strongly suspect that if you made a venn diagram of type 2 diabetes friendly foods, ibs friendly foods, and low histamine/histamine sensitivity safe foods, you would end up with very little in that center overlap
Which is making my life increasingly annoying and difficult right now
