Queen of ReiKasa, may I ask you for ReikasaxSpy Family crossover HC?
Tumblr media
I hear you, fam! With the release of SpyxFamily fanart by Isayama, this is a long overdue interest of mine. When I saw the first three covers of SxF manga, I immediately thought of ReiKasa! Let's reimagine that Reiner and Mikasa, the actors, starred in their next series project after SnK entitled, SpyxFamily.
Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Actor + Gen Crossover Headcanon #22
Tumblr media
This can be taken as a continuation of the ReiKasa Actor Universe Headcanon
Casting
After the global success of Shingeki no Kyojin The Series (SnKTS), many named actors and actresses from the series were shortlisted by WIT Studio & Clover Works production to helm their next big series project- an adaptation based on the bestselling manga series by Tatsuya Endo, SpyxFamily.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reiner Braun was one of the top contenders for the lead role of Loid Forger (Codename: Twilight), an experienced undercover agent who was tasked to find more information on Desmond Donovan, an oppositional party leader believed to be supplying enemy forces with information.
It was not only Reiner's physical likeliness that was spot on to the character design in the original source, the natural energy that Reiner portrayed through his previous character in SnKTS secured his casting call. He knocked the ball out of the park with his natural charisma and impressive action portfolio.
As for Yor Briar (Codename: the Thorn Princess), the female lead, WIT Studio decided that there can be no other actress but Mikasa Ackerman for the most coveted role. This Emmy Award-Winning actress' impressive performance in SnKTS secured her the role immediately as she was handpicked by the SpyxFamily director and the same showrunners involved in both series.
The fact that the actor & actress have a very private married life with each other and both had been taking a one-year hiatus to raise their newborns after SnKTS production wrapped up, only made their casting selection indisputable as fans had been raving for their on-screen comeback for quite some time. SpyxFamily is a family series that fits the young new parents perfectly. Reiner and Mikasa's natural chemistry was undeniable from the first table reading.
For his mission, Loid Forger is required to secure a child as Donovan rarely makes appearances in public unless it's to attend primary functions at the prestigious Eden school. He managed to adopt a child from an orphanage name Anya, who, unknowingly is an Esper to assist him in his mission as his adopted daughter.
For Anya's character, aspiring child actress Gabi Braun who made her debut in SnKTS scored the role through her versatile acting range. The makeup team also did an amazing job in helping young Gabi nail the physical look required for the role. Gabi's familial dynamic with her fellow co-star Reiner, who had portrayed her cousin in SnKTS, made her the ideal choice to play Anya Forger in the series.
The moment the casting announcement was made, fans of SnKTS rallied their support for the new series helmed by their favorite stars.
Tumblr media
Production
Same as SnKTS, Reiner, and Mikasa both performed their own stunts for SpyxFamily. Their naturally compatible battle and fight chemistry immediately become series fans' favorites and they were each nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role for this year's Golden Globe Awards through their respective roles as Loid Forger and Yor Forger.
The couple is managed by the same manager and publicist, thus their shooting schedule and production wrapped up much earlier than planned without delays. The series premiere was shifted three months than its intended release, shortlisting SpyxFamily as the most anticipated summer release of the year.
One of Reiner's notable moments as Loid Forger was when he performed all of his fight scenes in one take involving Max, the dog who played Bond, their onscreen family pet with gifted powers of clairvoyance.
Meanwhile, for Mikasa, it was on the cruise ship arc when Yor fought a group of terrorists intending to harm a baby and his mother in a witness protection program. She performed all of the stunts involved in 48 hours. (A cool trivia that no one knows was that the baby actor(s) they had casted for the cruise arc had been Reiner & Mikasa's very own real life twin babies!)
Tumblr media
Reiner & Mikasa's favorite scene would be none other than the infamous Loid and Yor's proposal & vow exchange scene, making it the hottest and literally most explosive moment to ever went down in cinematic history. In a behind-the-scenes interview, Reiner and Mikasa could be seen divulging some information about their extremely private and high-profile wedding that took place during the peak of SnKTS's popularity as they discussed the now-famous and most-memed SpyxFamily scene.
The SpyxFamily production team is more family to Reiner, Mikasa and Gabi where practical jokes, birthday celebrations and surprises are to be expected daily on-set. The couple also hosted frequent dinner parties as an appreciation towards the production team members and crew.
The moment the series was confirmed for three more seasons, Reiner was also promoted as one of the Executive Producers, making SpyxFamily the biggest accolade in his filmography after SnKTS.
Mikasa went on to win several more distinctive awards for her incredible portrayal of Yor Briar/Forger.
EDIT: (5/5/22) Special thanks to @ricebunnyyy for her amazing efforts, lineart, detailings & colorings on her ReiKasaxSpyxFamily FA available here.

✍️ Fic authors self rec!
When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to other writers you know. Let's spread some self-love! 💛
Hey Sunshine ☀️
Thanks for dropping by my inbox with this ask! Well, I won't tell you I'm not embarrassed to do this but let's go for a bit of self-promo 🫣
So far my stuff is mostly Levihan-centered but I'm writing for other SNK pairings & for Levi x Reader at the moment as well (still in my WIP though).
✍️
1 - SUNBURST // 2.2k words // Modern AU // SFW // read on Tumblr & AO3
The latest of my works. It's part 2 of my series It's not like I've got something grand to say to you & I wrote it in one go within a few hours but I'm rather proud of it, especially Levi's characterisation. A word about this series: it will be a bunch of "chapters" requested for a drabble challenge that I decided to write as parts of the same story.
2 - ECHO // 1k words // Canon Universe // N.SFW-ish // read on Tumblr & AO3
I love Terra's (@dont-f-with-moogles ) story Never Enough & I wrote this drabble inspired by the series as a gift for her birthday. Once again, Levi's turmoil inspired me.
3 - BEHIND THE SCENES // 2.1k words // Modern AU // Actor AU // N.SFW-ish // read on Tumblr
This one was requested by anon & it's a Pikuhan fic (with a side of Levihan, I can't help it!). Actor AU is really a good setting for stories, I love to see them all being alive & well! I had so much fun writing this one! There'll be a part 2 & there'll definitely be other SNK Actor AU drabbles. I haven't posted it on AO3 yet.
4 - DUMBSTRUCK // 1k words // Modern AU // N.SFW-ish // read on Tumblr & AO3
Part one of It's not like I've got something grand to say to you series, written for another challenge. Hange's POV for once. Well I mean, Hange's POV about Levi's body hehe. The first time I've been proud of something I wrote tbh.
5 - UNDER THE MISTLETOE // 1.3k words // Modern AU // SFW // read on Tumblr & AO3
Part two of my Levi x Reader series Love Language (side note: part one is one year old & it's crap tbh, but I posted it as a reference to see if my writing is improving with time). A bit cheesy but I kinda like it however.
✍️
I'm not a particularly good writer but I'm not that bad after all I guess lmao.
A big shout out to all those who liked/reblogged/commented/kudo-ed my silly works! It means a lot to me & I'm so thankful for your kind support!
Sending love your way Sunshine 🫶☀️
✍️
Please consider reblogging / commenting / kudo-ing fics on Tumblr or AO3 to support writers, it's really encouraging for them!

Erwin was sitting at the kitchen table with his grandmother when his phone blew up with notifications. He eyed the device from afar as he listened to the irritating, constant beeping and buzzing. It was a relief his grandmother’s ears didn’t work as they used to, or she’d surely yell at him the way she did when he was six years old and stared at the TV instead of his food.
“Aren’t you going to get that?” The woman’s eyebrows rose at him from across the table. Seemed like he’d been wrong. Erwin couldn’t decide if she meant the question, or was challenging him.
He decided for the second, and continued to eat his food in silence. It didn’t matter how old he was, he would never fail to be a child in that woman’s eyes.
The beeping continued, and grandma let out a sigh in frustration as she rose on her feet.
“If you are not getting the damn thing, then I am, and I’ll throw it in the toilet.” She grunted, and not another second passed before Erwin rushed to grab his phone.
“What’s so important that it can’t wait until after dinner?” The woman scoffed from her seat, shaking her head as she continued to eat, waiting for Erwin to return. But Erwin didn’t move from his place.
Multiple notifications continued to blow up the screen of his phone from all his social media accounts. Nothing too new; he would normally just ignore them. But it was when he saw a missed call from Nile that Erwin began to worry.
The phone vibrated again in his hand; Nile’s name flashing on the screen. Erwin picked up right away.
“Check your Instagram... now-“
Before Nile could say anything else, Erwin hung up to open the app.
Three thousand…
There were over three thousand likes and hundreds of comments on the footage posted just a moment ago, and still counting. A rush of blood crawled up to his cheeks as he saw himself in the video, only a few inches apart from Levi as they joked around.
“I thought it was an action show you were filmning,” de felt his grandmother’s voice behind him as she took the phone away from him. “Isn’t this the nice boy from the other day?”
“Yes,” he snatched the phone away from her. “But it’s not what you think.”
“You mean what three thousand people think.”
Erwin’s eyes now followed the comments as he scrolled down the endless wall of texts. Some of them were compliments, others, hate comments. Most of them, however, were just questions and speculation.
“OMG! What is this?! Who’s that hottie flirting with Erwin?”
“They gay?”
“Erwin was married, how can he be gay? you people always trying to make everything gay.”
“Bisexual people exist”
“ERURI CANON”
“Erwin and Levi canon!”
“Wtf man, you changed Marie for this scrawny twink?”
“Noooo Marie and Erwin were perfect together! What is this?! My heart is broken 😭”
Erwin’s jaw dropped, his screen flashing again with Nile’s name. His finger hit “decline call”, over and over again. It was too much to process.
Did these people know that he would be reading the comments? Did they just not care? Erwin’s brows furrowed, unable to wrap his head around the fact that people felt so entitled over his private life. Who had leaked the video in the first place?
He scrolled up again to find the user name.
Of course. Of course it had been Zeke.
Even with his hands shaking and heart racing, Erwin couldn’t look away, couldn’t stop reading the comments and watching the numbers blow up. Most of the comments were positive, anyway; some of them even stole a smile from him. All until he read the last comment.
Nice...
That was it. That was the comment. But it was enough to make Erwin’s heart jump in his chest; He’d recognise that profile picture anywhere, it still caused a spike of adrenaline to skitter down his spine.
Marie.
He shut his eyes against a sudden wave of panic. Marie’s username beside it lingering in his mind as he closed the screen to put his phone away in his pocket. ‘Nice’? What was that even supposed to mean?
“Well, you’re gonna eat or what?” His grandma demanded. “Food’s gone cold now.”
As Erwin sat at the table again, his grandma took the plate away to heat it up in the microwave. While he waited, Erwin’s phone vibrated again in his pocket. He tried to resist the urge to look at it, but gave in to curiosity.
Levi Ackerman has sent you a “follow” request.
Shit.
His heart skipped a beat. His finger hit “accept” and “Follow back” before he could even think; the inbox opened the next second.
“What’s going on?” Erwin began to type, but as soon as he saw Levi typing as well, he deleted his text. A second later, the three dots on his screen had disappeared, no text coming from Levi either. He stared at the blank space in the chat for a long while.
A plate with warmed up lasagna was suddenly shoved in front of him, and Erwin put his phone down to take his fork with a soft “thanks”, only to pick up his phone a minute later when it buzzed with Levi’s message.
“Hey. Did you see the leak?”
Erwin replied instantly. “Yes, what the hell?”
“I have like 3000 new followers, wtf”
“I know. Did you see the comments?”
…typing...
That god damn, never ending typing. Just how much was Levi typing to take that long? Of course he had seen the comments, what a stupid question. Erwin took a bite of his lasagna to keep his anxiety away, until his phone buzzed again.
“Yes”.
That was all Levi had typed. Erwin now wasn’t sure what to reply.
Levi was typing again.
“I’m ‘trending’ on Twitter now, whatever that means…” Levi continued.
Erwin chuckled at his cluelessness. Even he knew what that meant. “Yeah, get used to it.”
“Lol. Anyway, fun stuff. See you tomorrow at the studio.”
“See you tomorrow.”
With a shy smile on his face, Erwin muted his phone and put it away in his pocket. At least he wasn’t alone in this mess. His stomach growled, now begging for food, and Erwin took his fork again, only to find his plate was gone.
“Where did my plate go?” He searched around the table with a puzzled look.
After a while, he heard the smacking of wet chewing behind his ear; Juanito the llama licking the traces of tomato sauce on the plate, grandma holding it for him.
“Did you just feed my lasagna to the llama?” Erwin’s eyebrows raised in awe.
“You looked busy, so I assumed you were done eating,” she said casually, as if it were the most obvious thing to do. With the same calmness, she took both their plates to wash them in the sink.
Erwin sighed, too mentally tired to argue. He had enough to deal with now with thousands of strangers meddling in his private life. Tomorrow would be an interesting day.

Rivamika: age issues
“It’s pedophilia!”
“She’s 15 and he’s 40!”
“He could be her father!”
How many times did we hear that? Well, too many. Indeed, that’s haters’ second favorite negative argument which they like to use against our ship, after “It’s incest!!”. Some of them probably don’t even know what they’re talking about, they just follow what the others say thinking that it’s sensible. Well, it isn’t. Here I want to dispel this myth with you.
I bet that since you ship Rivamika, you already know that it’s a totally fine couple, but some people, who are also part of RM fandom, are a bit confused about Levi’s age, so we’ll talk about it too. Now, let’s start.
In this post you can find:
• Their exact ages and the age gap
• Why Rivamika isn’t pedophilia
• It’s age gap a problem in couples?
The subheadings are written in their own special colour, so if you’re not interested in one of them, it will be easier to find the other.
• Their exact ages and the age gap
Levi’s age is a mystery; many doesn’t know it, many think he’s 40, many that he’s 35, and others doesn’t care at all. Actually, his exact age is unknown, but our dear Isayama gave us some informations who give us the idea of how old Levi is.
Back to 2016 [from chapter 19 to 21 (japanese language)], the Japanese voice actors of Mikasa, Eren and Armin made an appearance at the Universal Studio Japan’s SNK THE REAL exhibition with Hajime Isayama. During an interview, a fan asked to Isayama Levi’s real age (He said that it isn’t important for the story, but he is more older than what it seems), and he answered he’s in his late-thirties. Then, Isayama corrected his mistake and said that Levi is in his early-thirties.
I did some researches and with the term “early- thirties”, you indicate someone between 30 and 33 years old, with “mid-thirties” instead between 34-36 and “late-thirties” between 37-39. So, if Levi was 30 during season 1, 2, 3, now he’s 34, if he was 31, now he’s 35, if he was 32 now he’s 36 and if he was 33 now he’s 37.
Mikasa was confirmed to be 15-16 before the timeskip so now she is 19-20. Knowing this, we can calculate their age gap:
Tumblr media
(Sorry If it’s a but messed up)
I consider Levi 34, so their age gap is of 14-15 years.
• Why Rivamika isn’t pedophilia
I think it’s not that difficult to understand that it isn’t, but since haters are a bit crazy, we’ll talk about it. So, for the law, Mikasa is not a minor anymore because she’s 19-20, so a relationship between her and Levi would be considered legal, end of the discussion. But I won’t stop here.
What’s pedophilia?
Tumblr media
Actually, 15yso Mikasa with Levi wouldn’t have been pedophilia, SCIENTIFICALLY, but obviously for us a relationship between a minor and an adult it’s disgusting. It all depends on the historical period we are living in; ever since we were kids, our parents teached us that grown people who are interested in children are dangerous and that we have to stay away from them. But the law was different centeuries ago, and I know that it’s difficult to imagine a society where it’s legal to have a romance between teens and adults, but remember that the world we are living in it’s way different from the past one.
But when is AOT set? Well, I think that there’s not an actual year who matches perfectly with ours. We can say that it’s after the discovery of America in 1492 because they eat potatoes, which were imported by American colonies. They have also dirigibles, who was invented in the 19s, but they still move on carts and car were invented in 1886. Another thing, they communicate with letters, so no phones yet, and phone was invented in 1876. Like I already said, for me that’s not an year who corrisponds perfectly to our calendar, so the range of my analysis it’s quite huge.
According to my researches, many girls, even younger than Mikasa, got married with older men in the nineteenth century; in America, many believed that marriage could transform a child into a wife who was legally and socially an adult because of marriage. Her marital status trumped her chronological age. In Great Britain, the minimum age at which marriage was permitted (with parental consent) was 12 for a girl and 14 for a boy. Since usually women didn’t have many options for their future (the works which were permitted for them weren’t many, and they weren’t well payed), it was convenient to get married with a man they didn’t even know; men’s salaries were higher so they could support them economically. Actually, Mikasa could have been considered old according to the usual age of marriage.
And another thing, do you think that in AOT’s world, with titans who eat people, they care about age? no. Falling in love is probably considered a gift from heaven, something special who can make people smile in a such difficult period, and they don’t pay that much attention to age. I know that for us a relationship between an adult and a teen is creepy, but remember that for them it’s a miracle to be alive at the end of the day.
• Is age gap a problem in couples?
I think it’s a completely subjective thing. Google can’t give you the right answer this time; we’re all different in the world, so for some people it would be a problem, and for some no. It depends. Anyway, I want to list some famous couples with age gaps:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope you liked this post guys!! I wanted to post it two weeks ago but I don’t know why I didn’t 😂
I’m working on another post right know and it’s taking very much time, I hope I’ll post in before the end of the month.
Tell me what do you think about this!!!! 💜💜💜

Chapter I: A Nurse and A Soldier
It has been five years since the start of the war in 1939. A year longer than the previous war who lasted for four years, from 1914-1918. Because of that, people begin to wonder whether the war will end at all, especially with so many people lost their life during the process to obtain this peace. The war itself is split into two main theatres, The European Theatre and The Pacific Theatre.
Theatre is oddly a fitting name for the war, where a bunch of actors are playing their part in the battlefield while the directors are staying behind the stage as the puppet master. The war is a play and the whole world is the audience, no one knows the ending or knows who wrote the script, not even God or the universe knows it. However, despite that, the show must go on.
After the struggles that the allies experienced throughout the earlier years of the war, by 1944 they are finally able to confine the Germany by pushing them from the east and the west. However, it comes with a price. The high mortality of the soldiers forced the medical practitioners to be near the frontlines of the war, serving in tents they called field hospital as healer and helper for the fallen body, mind, and soul of the soldiers.
A bespectacled nurse with knee length light blue dress is wearing her white apron—with a big red cross sign on the chest area—in a hurry. After that, she put her hair up in a bun and pinned a white cap on the top of her head, securing it with pins.
She glances at her reflection at the small mirror that she puts on top of a suitcase. She readjusts her glasses before finally leaving her small tent. Her steps fast and wide as she walks through the maze of dark green tents toward the biggest tent in the area, the hospital ward. A big red cross symbol can be seen right on the roof. She sees the influx of soldiers being carried in stretchers around the tent; some are still conscious, but some appears to be dying.
From what she knows, the troops are currently in the middle of the fight in the South of Ardennes, which started back in September. It is a battle where the American forces are trying to push the Germans out of Lorraine. However, due to the high numbers of fallen and injured soldiers, the American forces decide to retreat from the battle in October. They intend to let the soldiers rest and heal while the leaders revise the plan of the battle. They built a temporary station near the field hospital, located near the western front of the European war.
She immediately goes inside the tent, and she is welcomed by the stench of blood and sweat. She takes a deep breath as she walks toward the head nurse who is seen talking with a soldier who is crying.
“Hange Zoë is reporting for duty, Ma’am.” She greets the head nurse.
After a few exchanges between them, she is dismissed to do her duty. Hange looks around the tent to search for patient that she can treat. She spots two soldiers who have just arrived at the tent. The taller man with ash blond hair is leaning toward the shorter man with disheveled black hair.
“What’s the matter?” Hange approaches them as she inspects their bodies. The raven-haired soldier seems to be alright while the ash blond soldier is wincing in pain. She immediately leads them toward the empty bed, and she helps the blond-haired soldier to lay on the bed.
“He said that his whole body is in pain, and he also has a fever.” The other soldier tells her with a flat voice. However, she does catch a hint of worry on his expression. “He’s been like this since we retreated from the battlefield a few days ago.”
Hange hums as her brain begins to work, trying to understand his symptoms. “What’s his name?”
“Furlan Church.” The other soldier replies.
Hange looks over to Furlan Church and sees that he is sweating. “It’s okay, Mr. Church. I’m going to help you.” She tells him in a soft and clear voice.
The man nods and Hange takes it as a good sign, as he is still responding to the surrounding. Hange then grabs a slender case from a pocket in her apron, she opens it and gives a small glass stick to him. “Mr. Church I need you to put this thermometer under your tongue for a few minutes.”
Hange then unbuttons his tattered and dirty brown uniform and examines his torso. She finds a bunch of red rashes on the skin of his torso and arms. Hange bites her bottom lip, she has an inkling about his sickness. She returns to him and takes the thermometer from his mouth, the number in the thermometer indicates that he has a high fever.
Hange immediately grabs his hand and bends the joint gently, “Is it hurt?”
Mr. Church grunts in pain and nods at her. “I can’t move my joints without experiencing pain.”
“How about your chest? Do you experience chest pain?”
“A little bit.”
Hange nods before looking around her and notices that other nurses are busy treating other patients, so there is no one that she can ask for help. She glances at the other soldier and asks, “I’m sorry, but can you stay with him? I have to fetch something from the pharmacy.”
The soldier obliges and goes to his comrade’s side. Meanwhile, Hange walks toward the other tent, the smaller one, to asks for penicillin and morphine. After getting what she needs, she returns to Mr. Church. She notices that the raven-haired soldier is giving Mr. Church a glass of water.
“What is it?” The other soldier asks on behalf of his comrade, his gaze stares intensely at her. “What happens to him?”
Hange takes the liquid morphine into the needle, preparing to give Mr. Church a shot. “Rheumatic fever, I’m afraid. It’s quite common for soldier to get it. If we didn’t treat him soon, it can develop into more serious illness.”
The soldier pauses and looks at the weak body of his comrade. “Is he going to be okay?”
Hange cleans the area of his forearm and injects the solution through his vein. “I’m trying my best.” She says before putting away the needle.
Mr. Church seems to be calmer after the shot. Hange smiles and gives him the tablet that she takes from her other pocket. He swallows it with water in one big gulp.
“How are you feeling?” She asks him again.
“A lot better.” Mr. Church replies weakly, almost like a whisper. “Thank you.”
She let out a relieved sigh, “You’re welcome. As long as you are resting and drink your medicine, you should be fine. If you need anything, just call me.”
Mr. Church hums while the other soldier nods at her. Hange is about to leave them, but she notices something from the corner of her eyes. She approaches the other soldier and grabs his right hand.
“What—”
“You are wounded.” Hange exclaims when she sees a bandage wrapped around his palm.
He takes his hand away from her, voice latches with danger. “This is nothing.”
“Nothing for you, but not for me. Even a small wound can be dangerous if it wasn’t treated properly.” She puts her hands on the side of her waist. “I’m a nurse, you have to listen to me.”
He raises his brows at her. He looks curious as well a little bit surprised at her, and it oddly makes him appear more amiable than before. Hange cannot help but to loosen herself around him. She gently takes his hand again; her brown eyes stare deeply into his grey eyes. “Please, let me treat it.”
His eyes widen and he quickly glances away from her. “Fine,” he muttered.
Hange leads him to an empty bed next to Mr. Church—who already fall deep into his slumber. Hange gestures him to sit on the bed while she grabs a bandage and a bottle of antiseptic from her apron. She sits next to him and begins to unwrap his red and dirty bandage. She sees a gash on his palm, it is not alarming, but it still can lead into an infection.
As she cleans the cut, the soldier remains unmoved on his seat. He does not wince or hiss in pain. She takes the time to study him. He has youthful face that seem to be stuck in perpetual frown. His eyes are void with prominent dark bags underneath. Well, it is a well-known fact that most soldiers are sleep deprived. Hange also shares her fair share of sleepless night as her head is filled with worries and irrational fears.
Despite that, he is still a handsome man. He has a very strong jaw, and she imagines how well-built he is from all the training he endured. She wonders—
Hange scoffs as she brushes away her thought. She must remember that they are currently in war, where a lot of life is on the stakes. The life of the soldiers, of the volunteers, and of the innocent civilians.
“What the hell are you doing.”
Hange looks at him and tilts her head, “What am I doing?”
“You are grinning like an idiot.” He tells her. Even though his words are a little bit crude, she cannot detect any mockery in his tone.
Hange laughs as she realizes that she has just make a fool of herself. She shakes her head as she feels a subtle flush on her cheeks, “Nothing.”
He raises one of his eyebrows, “You are weird.”
She shrugs as she grabs the clean bandage, “I get that a lot, trust me.” Hange carefully wraps his palm. He does not give her any respond, but Hange knows that he is watching her.
After making sure that there are no other wounds on him, she puts the rest of the bandage and bottle to her apron while she collects the dirty bandage. “You should try to take care of yourself more.” She mutters without even looking at him.
“We are in a war. There are a lot of more important things to consider, there are a lot of comrades to protect.”
Hange turns to look at him, “Well, but you couldn’t save someone when you’re dead, right?”
He stares at her, folding his hands on his chest. “Maybe I can.”
“I agree to disagree.” She mutters as she checks on Mr. Church for the last time before looking back at him. “Please look after him. If you need anything, just call me or any of the nurses here.”
She walks away from their bed, there are other soldiers that she needs to take care of. However, that does not change the fact that she can not stop glancing into their direction, especially to the nameless soldier.

It has been almost two weeks since the first time Hange met Mr. Church and the nameless soldier. She sees the nameless soldier a few times when he is visiting Mr. Church, who is slowly but surely recovering from his illness. Unfortunately, no matter how much she wants to try to have a conversation with him, she knows how important her duty is. Thus, every time they meet; he usually nods at her while she can only responds with a small smile.
When she first volunteered to the American Red Cross as a nurse, she knows that it will not be an easy job. Treating a wounded soldier is different than treating a patient in a hospital. There is a hidden more complex nature of their mental who is also injured alongside their physical body. Thus, she found herself not only treating external wound, but also their mind.
There is a young man, a soldier, who got shot in the arm. Hange remembers him due to the snake tattoo that he has on his forearm. One day, when Hange is trying to change his bandage, the young man suddenly become furious. He refuses to be touched by her, he even shouts at her and throws the bandage to her.
Other nurses are trying to calm him, but it comes to no avail. As if the young man is possessed, his eyes empty but burning. Hange comes forward, trying to soothe him, but he immediately raises his hand toward her. Hange is about to react, but the movement of his hand is already come into a halt by another hand.
“Is that how you show your gratitude toward the people who treats you?” Hange notices that the nameless soldier is holding the arm of the young man. There is a fury in his expression as he mutters to the young man, “Don’t do something that you will regret later.”
The young man stares at him before glancing toward the nurses who are surrounding his bed. He begins to sniffle as he brings his hands to his face. “I’m sorry...” He whispers before his voice slowly turns into a cry.
Hange glances toward the nameless soldier and smiles, “Thank you.”
He nods at her before leaving to return to Mr. Church who witnesses the whole event from his bed.
Later, Hange and another nurse, Nanaba, gently approach the young man. They learn that his name is Daniel. It turns out, he is the only son of a single mother who lives in Florida.
“I don’t want to come home.” He tells them as he let Hange to change his bandage. “I don’t know what to say when I meet her.”
“Is there a reason why?” Nanaba asks, sitting on a stool next to the bed.
“She didn’t want me to fight in the war while I see this as my duty. She’s always like that, telling me to do this, to do that. Can’t she just see that I want to choose my own path? I got mad at her, so we ended up fighting the day before I was deployed. I haven’t talk to her ever since… She must hate me.”
“I don’t think so.” Hange remarks. “The fact that she forbids you to go to the war really indicate how much she loves you. She doesn’t want to lose you, Daniel.”
“You think so?” There is a hopeful tone on his voice.
“Of course, there’s nothing that she wants other than to welcome you back.” Hange says as she wraps the new bandage on his arm. “I think you two misunderstood each other’s intention.”
“Really?”
Nanaba nods in agreement, “Yes. That’s why you have to stay healthy, Daniel. So, you can meet her again. Hopefully, you two can have heart to heart conversation.”
He smiles, “Right. I will do that.”
“In the meantime, why don’t you tell us about your mother? She seems to be an interesting lady.” Hange adds as she finishes bandaging his hand.
The young man’s face lightens up from the mention. He then spends the rest of the night talking to Hange and Nanaba about his mother.
•──────✦──────•
The American troops returns to the battle in the South of Ardennes after three weeks of retreating from the battle. Mr. Furlan is still too weak to join the battle, so he does not participate on the battle. During the time, Hange speaks to him a few of times. Through him, she learns that the name of the mysterious soldier. Levi Ackerman is his name.
“Please don’t take this the wrong way, Miss Nurse.” Mr. Furlan tells her when she comes to give his medicine. “But I just want to say that you are really pretty.”
Hange raises one of her brows and glances at him in confusion. She then let out a giggle. It is not uncommon for the nurses to receive compliment or even proposal during their service. Which is actually a sad thing, showing how lonely the soldiers are during the war.
“What do you want, Mr. Furlan?” Hange teases as she prepares to inject the needles.
“Nothing. I was just stating my observation.”
“Well, thank you, Mr. Furlan. From my observation, you are a handsome man yourself.”
He hisses in pain as Hange gives him a compliment as well as the needle injection. “Uh, I never thought you would return it back.”
“That’s just how I was raised.” Hange smiles before giving him a tablet and a glass of water.
He laughs before swallowing his medicine. “Hey, do you have a boyfriend, Miss?”
Hange grins and folds her hands, “You are quite a talker, Mr. Furlan.”
He puts the glass away and raises both of his hands in surrender. “I’m asking for a friend, not for me.”
She narrows her eyes and mutter in playful tone, “A friend?”
“Yeah, for a friend. I think he is interested in you. But he’s a shy, quite hopeless to be honest. That’s why, as his best friend, I want to help him.”
She pauses before letting out a chuckle, “If that is true, then tell your friend to ask me directly, Mr. Furlan.” Hange answers as she walks away from him. In her head, she tries to think about which friend he is talking about. A figure appears on her head, but she quickly dismisses it. In the end, she concludes that Mr. Furlan was only teasing her out of boredom.
•──────✦──────•
After two months of battle, the American forces are finally able to push Germany from the South of Ardennes. The battle finishes just a week before Christmas. However, the Germany immediately plans for a counteroffensive in the dense forest of the Ardennes itself. The American decides to retreat again to the field hospital, to revise their plan and to let the soldiers receive treatment. They plan to return to the battlefield the day after Christmas.
During Christmas, both sides are having ceasefire. The troops hold a party for the soldiers, the medical practitioners, and for the supporting staff of the war. For a day, they are allowed to forget about the state of the world that they are currently living in. They sing carols, they pray together, and they dance around the fireplace.
As much as Hange wants to join the party, she volunteers to stay in the medical tent with other soldiers who cannot join the party due to their sickness and injury. She is not alone though, she is with Nanaba. They think that they ought to give the older nurses and doctors a chance to unwind themselves from their duty.
“Do you want to listen to a story, Miss Nanaba, Miss Hange?” A man with brown hair inquires as Nanaba apply a new compress to his forehead. Meanwhile, Hange is a few beds away from them, currently taking the sheet off the empty bed to put it on the basket.
“Is it a story about your wife and your daughter, Mr. John?” Nanaba replies with a playful tease.
The man shows his left hand, a golden wedding band can be seen circling around his ring finger. “Yes, look at this, isn’t this beautiful? Every time I see this ring, I remember my beloved. She is the most beautiful, kindest, and intelligent person I’ve ever met.”
“Yes, Mr. John. It’s beautiful.” Nanaba replies, genuinely. Hange shares the same sentiment. If she ends up with someone who loves her the same way Mr. John gushes over his wife, Hange would become the happiest person ever.
“Ah, wait until you meet my daughter.” He grabs something from under his pillow, it is a photo. He shows the photo to Nanaba. “Look at her, isn’t she precious? The last time I met her, she could barely stand on her own… I wonder how big she has gotten? I bet she has grown into a cheerful and energetic child. I’m sure she’s currently running around the house, tiring her mother to no end.”
Hange puts the sheet to the basket before approaching him and Nanaba. “We know, Mr. John. You miss them, right?”
The man let out a sad smile as he stares at the photo, “Yes. It’s been four years since the last time I spent Christmas with them…”
Hange shares a look of understanding with Nanaba. The blonde nurse gives a pill to the man, “Let’s wish that we are finally able to celebrate the next Christmas in the warmness of our homes.”
The man nods, his eyes bright with hopes. After taking his pill, it does not take him long to finally sleep. Nanaba tucks him into the blanket before helping Hange to take off the dirty sheets, blankets, and pillowcases.
However, suddenly, two men come into the tent. Hange recognizes them, they are Mr. Furlan and Mr. Ackerman. Hange and Nanaba ask them about their visit to the tent. Mr. Furlan informs them that a soldier was injured in the party, he broke his ankle.
“Well, I guess someone is getting a little too excited for the party.” Nanaba remarks, her voice latches in worry but also amusement.
“I know.” Mr. Furlan chuckles. “There are a bunch of nurses and doctors at the party, so we come here to ask for first aid bag.”
“Oh, it’s on the pharmacy tent. Let me get—” Hange’s speech is cut short by Nanaba.
“No, Hans. You stay here. If there’s an emergency, you are the best we got.”
Hange furrows her brows, “Huh? Alright.”
“Good idea!” Mr. Furlan exclaims before gesturing toward the other soldier. “I will go to the pharmacy with her while you stay here, just in case Miss Nurse needs your help.”
Neither Hange or Mr. Ackerman are able to reply or object, because both Mr. Furlan and Nanaba vanish in a blink of an eye. Hange glances toward him and as usual, he has that frown on his face. Suddenly, he looks at her and it catches her off guard. He seems to be surprised too, but he hides it quickly. “What can I do to help?”
“Ah—Uhm, you can help me to change the bedsheets.” Hange explains, gesturing toward the empty beds inside the tent.
He nods and walks toward a bed on the corner while Hange choose the bed across him. She keeps looking at him, not so subtly because he realizes it.
“What?” He asks when they both go toward the basket at the same time, putting the old bedsheet inside.
Hange smiles sheepishly, “Ah, I just realize. I never catch your name.” She says, which is obviously a lie.
He shrugs, “Well, I never throw it to you.”
She chuckles, it is probably not something he says to amuse her. It is probably not even that funny, but she still laughs anyway. There is just something about him that attract her right from the start.
“But I can throw it if you want.” He says with a little hint of humor that is hidden underneath his blank stare.
“I don’t want you to throw it.” She replies with a grin. “I want you to lay it to me gently.”
He raises one of his eyebrows before giving her a subtle smirk, “Levi Ackerman. Just call me Levi.”
“Hange Zoë, pleasure to meet you.” She nods at him, “I let the soldiers call me anything, but they mostly call me Miss Nurse.”
“That’s a bit of mouthful.”
“Well, what do you want to call me, then?”
He smirks at her before returning to another bed, “Enough chatting, there’s a lot of stinky bedsheets that we need to change, four-eyes.”
Hange raises her eyebrows, intrigued by the nickname that he gives her. She laughs and answers, “Yes, yes, Mr. Soldier.”
After taking off all the bedsheets, they replace it with a brand new one. At first, she thinks that he helps her out of politeness, but it seems he really enjoys the task. He makes sure that the surface of the sheets and pillowcases are smooth, he even folds the blankets very neatly. Hange smiles the whole time as she observes him and the subtle joy that appear on his expression.
“How long since they’d been gone?” Levi asks as he sits on the chair while Hange sits across the table, his hand holding a cup with steaming liquid inside.
“Too long.” Hange answers before she sips a cup of warm instant tea that she made.
He hums, taking the cup to his mouth. “Maybe your friend gets caught up in the party.”
“Maybe.” She giggles, putting the cup on the table. Hange scans his face and snickers, “Speaking of, I heard that you are the best soldier that we got in here.”
He scoffs at her remark, “Nonsense.”
“They say you are so strong, it almost like you are invincible in battle.”
He clicks his tongue, narrowing his eyes at her. “I never thought you like to gossip.”
“Well, sometimes I do.” Hange replies as she looks at his posture. This is her first time seeing him without his uniform. He still wears his uniform pants and shoes, but this time he wears a white shirt that shows his muscles. She returns her gaze to his cup as she tries to keep herself from smiling.
“You know, I’ve never seen you before.” Levi suddenly asks her. Hange is pleasantly surprised by his question, he never thinks that he is interested to get to know her.
She giggles, “Of course, this is my first time being a nurse in field hospital. Before this, I acted as a nurse aide for a year in the big hospital. However, as the war stretch all the way into years, the demand of medic in the front lines are high as ever. That’s why I began my work here last October.”
“I see.” He acknowledges. “That explains why you look so young.”
Hange tilts her head in amusement, “You speak like you are an old man.”
“Maybe I am.”
“I don’t believe it. How old are you?”
Levi looks at her for a few seconds before glancing away. “Today I turn 26.”
Hange blinks as she stares at him. Suddenly, her eyes widen when she understands the implication. “OH MY GOD!”
“Hey, quiet!” Levi reprimands as he looks at the surrounding. Fortunately, the patients are still sleeping soundly on their bed.
“Oh my God.” Hange repeats with reduces volume, smiling joyfully at him. “Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Levi!”
“Thanks.” He murmurs before sipping his tea again.
They sit together in silence as they wait for their respective friends to return from whatever journey they are having. But then, as the night goes even more late, Hange feels herself to be in a talkative mood. Thus, she decides to break their silence by asking the question that she has been wanting to ask. “What do you think about the war?”
He does not immediately answer nor even spare her a glance. However, he looks like he is in a deep thought. Hange realizes that they are not that close for her to ask such question.
“You don’t have to answer it—”
“It’s a lot of things, you can ask one soldier to another, and they would probably give you different answers.”
“…Well, how about you, then?” She speaks her words slowly and softly.
He let out a sigh. “It feels like a nightmare that you can’t wake up from. It went on and on, constantly. In the end, you have no fucking idea which one is a reality, and which one is a dream.”
She notices the veins that appear on his temple, and she also notices how he grips his cup tighter. “I’m sorry. That must be hard and confusing for you.” Hange utters gently and carefully.
“Yeah, it’s very shitty.” He adds as he looks at her. “It changes people too, you know. Not only the soldiers.”
She nods weakly, “Yeah. This is a world war. I’m sure that by the end of this, the world will change too.”
“True… and I don’t think I want to change.” He remarks. “That’s why sometimes I wonder if it would be better for me to just run toward the bullets.”
Hange’s body freezes as she holds her breath, “What—”
“It’s a joke.” He immediately reiterates, his lips grinning as if he is emphasizing his words.
Hange narrows her eyes at him, not in every ounce believing his words. She bites her bottom lips before asking, “Don’t you have someone waiting for you back home?”
“No.”
Hange’s heart sinks when she heard that. Then, without even thinking about what she is about to say. With a clear voice she declares, “Well, you have it now.”
He stares at her with uncertainty, “Huh?”
She returns his intense stare with a softer and gentler one, “You heard me.”
There are a lot of emotions passing through his face. His eyes widen at her, while his mouth left slightly agape. He seems like he wants to reply, but no voice is heard.
“That’s why you have to promise me that you will survive.” She smiles at him. “Because I’ll be waiting here for you.”
It takes her a few more minutes to realizes what she was implying. A heat crawling onto her cheeks, she tries to open her mouth to save them from the impending awkwardness.
“Sorry we took so long.” A cheery deep voice comes into the tent, it is Nanaba’s voice. “Ah, Mr. Ackerman. Your friend said that if you need him, you can meet him at the party.”
Levi leaves his seat walks toward Nanaba. “I see, thank you for the information.”
“No, I should be the one who thank you for helping, right Hange?”
Hange immediately stands up from his seat, “Yes… thank you, sir.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
She hears the hoarseness of his voice, but she does not have the courage to take a look at his face. Even when he bids his farewell to them, she still chooses to keep her head low, purposely avoiding his face.
However, that does not mean she did not wonder about what expression that he made when she told him that.

Sorry to all my fellows, but I have to do this.
I'll maintain deactivated this account until I read the official version of the last chapter and be okay with it.
No hate to Isayama, I believe we have to thank him and all the snk staff (WIT, MAPPA, the voice actors, the animators, all of them). If it wasn't Isayama to share his history, we would not know anything from the snk universe.
However, maybe I'm being too sensitive, but for me, who have Mikasa Ackerman as the most favorite character, this is too much. I have seen things about her which wound a lot.
Therefore I need to take a breath and time to digest this.
See y'all soon.

Queeeen! 😆 I live your HC to my ask about ReiKasa and if you don't mind, I'm sorry if I ask too many things but can you make HC of ReiKasa actor AU? Hehehe
Hello dearest, thank you for the interesting Ask! I hope this post fits into your envisioned universe 😉
Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Actor AU Universe (Gen) Headcanon #15
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Acting Career
Both are very professional in their acting - they each have serious switch energies. They are both different off-screen and on-screen.
Tumblr media
Reiner got his footing in acting as a rising action star. There had even been rumors of him being a stripper when he was in college, which he did not deny, saying that he needed to pay for his degree. In real life, he is the coolest, hilarious and dorky guy ever (He's a party animal!) But when the cams started rolling, he'll switch to the darkest mode needed for his character that it scares the producers at times. Same goes with Eren.
Before Reiner was cast as one of the recurring characters in the SnK series, he's also known as the face of Calvin Klein, Red Bull Energy Drink & Tag Heuer.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Mikasa is a multifaceted & talented actress who began her career as a child actress/commercial models. You could see her extensive filmography as she took on guest roles and recurring characters in older tv serials in the 90s & early 2000s. This woman also made a lot of cameos in the MV of famous rock & pop bands.
Mikasa is already a famous household name before her breakout role as the main actress for SnK The Series. She is the face of Dior, Simone Pérèle & Anna Sui.
After SnK The Series became a global phenomenon, both Reiner & Mikasa were appointed as Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF from the cast of the series.
SnK The Series (SnKTS)
When they were both cast into their respective characters, these two started out as acquaintances/ fellow castmates.
Mikasa was cast at the main three leads. Reiner was a recurring character until he gets a bump into the main roster for the final season.
These two barely have any direct lines with each other, but when they do have direct action/lines together, or just standing next to each other in a frame, fans can feel the intense vibe between these two.
Therefore, from S3 onwards, one can expect Reiner & Mikasa to be travelling together a lot for promos, fan panels & interviews.
Since they are the few actors on set that perform their own stunts, they spend a lot of time together with the stunt choreographer for most of their action scenes. Reiner and Mikasa have an amazing onscreen fight scene chemistry.
Any behind-the-scenes recording or media interviews would see these two playing pranks on each other or just tease each other mercilessly but one can see that they both have a soft spot for each other.
Dating Rumors
They both started noticing each other's endearing qualities since the first table reading for the series' season debut. They become fast, casual friends because they're both fitness enthusiasts & foodies.
These two would usually arrive on set 3 hours early & hit the gyms or do a quick run. After a while they'd usually do them together.
Reiner would be the one who's constantly checking if he might have accidentally hurt her in one of their fight scenes. Off-screen, their chemistry is very apparent amongst the production members but they insisted they're very comfortable friends.
There's a secret betting pool among the writers of the series that these two would end up married by the time the series wraps up.
One of the executive producers even said that if they end up married, he'll gift their firstborn child with his or her own education trust fund.
Tumblr media
Reiner & Mikasa both have dating rumors but not with each other because they're so good in keeping things professional. Mikasa has fans speculating a lot, especially when a lot of musicians or sports stars shared that she is their dream date or big time crush. She's been linked to famous DJs & idols while Reiner has been linked to Victoria's Secret models & popstars. All of those were just rumors.
On red carpets of premiere, press tours, fan panels and after party, they're always photographed with a group of other cast members. Eagle-eyed fans would notice the subtle touches, secret whispers and longing looks from one to the other. Reiner would usually wear a tie that matches the color of Mikasa's dress. On-site fans would notice Reiner offering his hand for her to take when she wears heels or fixing her hair or her dress trains.
Levi and Hange, fellow married castmates who also had a secret relationship prior to their wedding, had been the one who's been Reiner & Mikasa's respective wingman/wingwoman. Armin and Annie, who are openly dating each other had been in cahoots in keeping their fellow castmates' relationship on the DL too. Annie had almost spilled the tea in an interview 🙈
These two are so private, they don't post anything about each other on their SM accounts. Reiner always posts about his fitness regime and hiking trips with Jean, Armin, Connie and occasionally Levi. Mikasa would post pictures of her, Hange, Annie, Sasha and Pieck on their vacations or her pictures of her cat, Primrose. But Annie's SM posts have almost exposed Reiner & Mikasa's relationship during one of their group's private getaways in Cabo.
Even the paparazzis were unable to spot them without non-family members or castmates around. But media was able to sniff their possible relationship when pictures of their secret vacation in Italy with their families were leaked online.
Their budding romance is comparable to Rose Leslie & Kit Harington from GOT or Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively. Paps pictures of Mikasa sporting a huge diamond band on her finger has the rumor mills swirling. Some fans have been able to deduce the identity of her mysterious fiancé when she's seen with a fresh tattoo of the monogram letters R and B on the inside of her wrist, while Reiner has been spotted having the letters M and A tattooed on his.
Referencing to this post, prior to their wedding news, the moment Reiner appears on the cover of Men's Health Magazine with his nude pecs on full display, fans are finally able to confirm that he is Mikasa's mysterious husband-to-be based on the tattoos on his chest.
As soon as the news of their upcoming wedding was made official with the release of their official pre-wedding pictures, they legit broke the internet.
These two would spur fans to do a forensic on all past official promo, behind the scenes stills, making of & event images that would make people go, "Holy crap, the signs were all there!" If there's a mag cover caption best to describe the news, it'll be with "Married! When did it all even begin?"
Extremely Private Married Life
They had a closed, private wedding on a cruise ship in the summer. It was attended by fellow cast members and Mikasa & Reiner's other close celebrity friends.
Even after they're married, paps had a huge challenge trying to snap pictures of them together.
During the filming of the final season, Mikasa would be like Gal Gadot, filming her own stunts at 20 weeks of pregnancy. She was very persistent in not using a double. That even made Reiner sat restlessly on the sides whenever the cameras started rolling.
Tumblr media
EDIT: The showrunners also decided to inject an indirect fan-service by featuring their characters right next to each other in the Final Season's official poster & key art for merchandise as they've been married & have given birth by the time the Final Season was ready to debut.
After her baby bump got too big and was getting a lot harder to cover, the production crew forced her to use a stunt double for long-shots.
When their twins were born, the new family had an exclusive feature with Harper's Bazaar. All proceeds from the rights purchase went straight to UNICEF.
The Executive Producer had setup the twins' college trust fund the moment the their names were officially announced by UNICEF on their website.

Thanks for the Ask, dear! ❤ I had loads of fun with this 😆

Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat: The Many Ways the Crossover Almost Happened
https://ift.tt/38sRB2j
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, the game that really kickstarted the fighting game genre, has turned 30 this year. To celebrate, Ryu and Chun-Li are appearing in Fortnite. It’s par for the course for Ryu, who has been in so many crossovers to fight everyone from everywhere. Ryu has crossed over with the cast of Tekken, the guys from King of Fighters, the Marvel superheroes, just about everyone under the Nintendo banner, GI Joe, Power Rangers, and even Family Guy for some odd reason. Ryu and Street Fighter have crossed over with nearly everyone.
Yet for some reason, the number one dream fighting game match-up has never happened. Yes, we’re talking about Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat. These two giants of the fighting game industry have never exchanged blows despite being household names from the very beginning of the fighting game boom of the early 1990s.
That doesn’t mean there haven’t been some close calls or that they haven’t brushed shoulders in the past…
The Beginning of the Rivalry
The first iteration of Street Fighter II came out in February 1991. This was the sequel that made good on the promise of the 1987 original, which had great ideas that it couldn’t really execute. It would be bold to say that Street Fighter II perfected the formula, but it was such an improvement that it’s still incredibly playable to this day. It was a lucky break for Capcom, who would go on to milk the game’s success with several new editions of the title, from 1992’s Champion Edition all the way to 2017’s Ultra Street Fighter II: Final Challengers for the Nintendo Switch.
If you’re a fighting game aficionado, you know the history. The success of Street Fighter II sparked a boom for the fighting game genre. In Japan, SNK released Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting right on the heels of Capcom’s hit, while Alpha Denshi gave us World Heroes in ’92. Meanwhile, in America, Midway Games was planning its own Street Fighter II competitor, which was originally meant to be a tie-in game for the movie Universal Soldier starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. When that project fell through, Midway turned to the much gorier Mortal Kombat, a fighting game that digitized actors instead of sprites, an innovative approach to animation at the time.
Released on October 1992, Mortal Kombat was a major hit, and Midway quickly put out a sequel, Mortal Kombat II, six months later in April 1993. The third game would be out two years later. Mortal Kombat was speeding through its early days with cabinet after cabinet, while Capcom was focused on re-releasing newer versions of Street Fighter II. After making bosses playable, adding new characters, and tossing in other bells and whistles over the course of various upgrades, the studio concluded the game’s original run with 1994’s Super Street Fighter II: Turbo.
That meant that at a time when the internet was in its infancy, these two popular franchises were mainstays of print gaming magazines. Announcements, previews, reviews, secrets, tips, and so on. If your early ’90s magazine didn’t have at least a page dedicated to Street Fighter and/or Mortal Kombat, then get your eyes checked because you weren’t looking hard enough.
In 1992, Electronic Gaming Monthly famously pulled an April Fool’s Day gag on readers where they took the Street Fighter II mistranslation, “You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance,” and insisted it was a reference to a secret boss fight that involved working your ass off in the game in a way that was outright impossible, making your way through the game as Ryu without taking a single hit until your battle with M. Bison (and that was the “easy” part). The joke led to many stressful nights for gamers, who were finally told the truth about the hoax the following December.
But Midway took the idea of a secret boss more literally. Using the Sub-Zero/Scorpion ninja sprites, Midway introduced a green-clad fighter named Reptile, a seriously difficult opponent that you could only fight in arcade mode under some seriously ridiculous circumstances. Reptile was added in the 3.0 version of Mortal Kombat, making him the first secret boss in the genre’s history.
Capcom would eventually catch up with Akuma, a character extremely similar EGM‘s design for Sheng Long, in Super Street Fighter II: Turbo. By then, Midway had thrown in three more secret boss fights for Mortal Kombat II, and even SNK had already introduced Ryo Sakazaki as a secret final boss in Fatal Fury Special.
Brushing Shoulders
The Mortal Kombat series really thrived as a gorier and campier alternative to Street Fighter II‘s more fundamental approach to the genre, but that didn’t stop Midway from taking a couple of jabs at Capcom. In-game, secret characters would occasionally pop up before rounds and say something cryptic for the sake of helping the players figure out how to unlock their fight, a nod to the Sheng Long joke. But there were more direct pokes at the competition. For instance, Jade would occasionally appear for the sake of asking, “CHUN WHO?” and vanishing. Midway also included “RYU” as default initials on Mortal Kombat II‘s high score board. Cute.
Meanwhile, Capcom stoked the fire with a commercial for Street Fighter II: Champion Edition for Sega Genesis. It featured a security guard at a toy store coming across a box for the game. Blanka’s arm would thenreach out and grab the nearby box for Mortal Kombat and crush it into smoldering trash.
But it wasn’t all jabs. The two companies crossed paths in other interesting ways. In 1993, Malibu Comics published a Street Fighter II series for only three issues before having to drop it because Capcom was unhappy with Ken Masters’ grisly fate in the story. Around the same time, Malibu also launched a Mortal Kombat series, and the publisher would actually batch issues of both series together and send them to vendors.

Hasbro double-dipped when it came to action figures too, releasing sets for both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, complete with weapons and special vehicles. But while Street Fighter characters were treated like part of the GI Joe line, and were even featured in commercials where they all hang out and beat the crap out of Duke, Mortal Kombat was kept separate from Hasbro’s most popular figures.
Nintendo also used both franchises as major selling points for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The SNES ports for Super Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat II both played big parts in Nintendo’s Play It Loud ad campaign. One such commercial even had a guy getting a massive Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat tattoo on his torso.
But the closest thing we’ve ever gotten to a real crossover between the two games was through their Saturday morning cartoons. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm were both released as animated follow-ups to their live-action movies, although they were directly inspired by the games themselves. On Nov. 16, 1996, both series, as well as Savage Dragon and Wing Commander Academy, took part in a long-forgotten crossover event based around a hero named the Warrior King and his search through the multiverse for a special orb that controls the weather.
The Warrior King played a major role in his Street Fighter episode as the romantic interest of Chun-Li, while in Mortal Kombat, he merely made a quick cameo as a shadowy figure running through a portal. Regardless, both stories involved the villains (M. Bison and Shang Tsung) wielding the same mystical orb.
No, the crossover ain’t much, but that’s still more than what we got in Wreck-It Ralph. Although the Disney movie featured M. Bison, Zangief, Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Cammy, it didn’t bring in any official Mortal Kombat characters to face them. Instead, the movie included “Cyborg,” a blatant Kano knockoff with the same cybernetic eye, goatee, and zest for heart-ripping. Why didn’t Disney just use Kano? Probably because he’s a Warner Bros. property. Still, missed opportunity.
Copying Test Answers
The video game adaptation of Street Fighter: The Movie will always be a fascinating novelty. Released in 1995 in arcades, the game not only copied Mortal Kombat’s digitized actors but it actually featured Jean-Claude Van Damme, the actor Midway had been unable to secure for its own Universal Soldier tie-in years earlier.
Interestingly, whenever Capcom sets out to make a totally new Street Fighter game, the studio usually chooses to go in a new art direction. Street Fighter V is the exception, although Capcom did initially start with a more photorealistic art style before nixing it and going with “Street Fighter IV but extra.” So, when Capcom tapped Incredible Technologies to put together the video game version of Street Fighter: The Movie in 1995, it was at a time when the publisher was also considering using the digitized Mortal Kombat style for Street Fighter III. Thankfully, Capcom decided not to go in this direction.
Midway hilariously dipped its toe in Capcom’s waters a bit more blatantly in 2004. Mortal Kombat: Deception introduced a fighter named Kobra who was supposed to be the latest human POV character, only evil. But Midway initially named him “Ken Masters” due to his physical similarities to the Street Fighter character. The studio included “Ken” in a beta version of the game provided to the press, with the express direction NOT to mention the character.
Guess what happened next. A German publication posted the images of “Ken Masters” anyway, suggesting Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter was finally happening. Sadly, no, this was not a teaser for the long-awaited video game crossover. It seemes Midway just hadn’t come up with a proper name for “Ken Masters” yet.
Capcom did throw in a cute reference to Mortal Kombat in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The game featured Nathan Spencer, the Bionic Commando, whose cybernetic arm could shoot out like a grappling hook and grab opponents from far away. When doing that to yoink an enemy towards him for a haymaker to the face, he’d quote Scorpion’s famous “GET OVER HERE!” Nice.
Not the Right Fit
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon admitted in 2008 that he’d tried to make Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter happen at one point but Capcom wasn’t interested.
“I’ve always wanted to cross MK over since about MK4, or something like that. I’m a big fan of all of the other fighting games, Street Fighter, Tekken. I always thought, wouldn’t it be cool to have MK vs. SF and MK vs. Tekken? We pursued some of those ideas to the extent we could but we always ran into some kind of road block and couldn’t do it.”
A full-on roster vs. roster situation was out back in the ’90s, but these days, guest characters are a normal part of fighting games. Tekken 7 alone includes representatives from Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Final Fantasy, and The Walking Dead. Mortal Kombat and Injustice have gone all over the map with their DLC choices, including slasher villains, ’80s action heroes, Spawn, Hellboy, and even the Ninja Turtles. When a fighting game announces a new season of DLC, you usually know to expect at least one crossover character to be included in the package.
For 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11, Boon reached out to Capcom once again. Wouldn’t it be neat if a Street Fighter character got in on all the gritty time-traveling action? While we don’t know which character Boon was interested in using, many fans theorize Akuma would have been the perfect fit. But Capcom said no.
Here’s what former Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono had to say about it:
“It’s true that a proposal for a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat was rejected by Capcom, but it wasn’t me personally! There were many people at the company that felt that it wasn’t a good fit for our characters. I actually met Ed at the Brazil game show and spoke to him personally about it. So it’s true – but I didn’t make the decision!”
So why didn’t it happen? Probably because Mortal Kombat 11 is banned in Japan due to all the gore and extreme violence.
“I understand why people want it,” Ono said at the time, “but it’s easier said than done. Having Chun-Li getting her spine ripped out, or Ryu’s head bouncing off the floor…it doesn’t necessarily match.”
Maybe one day. For now, we’re left waiting for Ryu to finally get over here.

Universal Studious Japan SNK Attractions 2019
Tumblr media
It’s been about a week since we went to Universal Studios Japan and took in the new Cool Japan 2019 summer attractions including Attack on Titan: The Real!
Tumblr media
Universal’s Cool Japan attractions are temporary attractions using popular Japanese IPs like...Attack on Titan! (And others.) This year’s attractions included SNK, Lupin the 3rd, Godzilla, Evangelion, Detective Conan and Sailor Moon. Besides the attractions there is also exclusive merchandise and special menus that can be found only in the park.
Tumblr media
Let’s take a look at what was on offer for SNK this year. The SNK attraction that was created for this event runs from May 31st until August 25th 2019 and is a show type attraction. The attraction runs 30 minutes long and includes a mix of 3D, live action and special effects including smoke, lasers, moving seats and projection mapping. For something running under 3 months I found it very ambitious and impressive, not that it wasn’t without flaws but those flaws were minor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The attraction covers season 3 part 2 in a type of recap with some things happening in a slightly different order. You start with a pre-show catching people up to speed so they will know what’s going on. It’s a fairly long preshow with live actors playing the parts of Roy and Peaure who are the journalists for the Berg newspaper discussing what is happening now and the events leading up to it. As they talk they pick up various maps and documents depicted on screens with illustrations so the audience can also see. After that the audience is led into the theater.
Tumblr media
The theater is decorated to look like the rooftops of Shiganshina and there is no real bad seats since the show takes place all around you. The 3D animation is a mix of the shows animation mixed with original animation. This is one of the few weak parts as one of the very first shots of the original animation unfortunately looks like it was unfinished. The rest actually looks fairly nice. Live actors portray the survey corps and the is a live portrayal of Levi and Reiner. We also see live titans including Zeke and Pieck and some favorite abnormal titans running around. The is a big colossal titan as well recreated with projection mapping and some special effects. We experience the battle for Shiganshina ending with the simultaneous defeat of the beast titan, armored titan and colossal titan. Then there is a surprise tease at the end for the basement scene with television quality animation done by WIT Studios.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another SNK attraction on offer was a scene depicting a private moment between Erwin and Levi with realistic Clonoid figures. This attraction required the purchase of a special Express Pass ticket that also included the show type attraction described above and had no standby line. We experienced this during the first three days of the event start so there was a learning curve for the cast. The first day the queue took forever and the second time the experience was way too rushed. Hopefully by now they have found a nice middle ground. You could purchase the picture you took with the Clonoids and receive a picture of your choice with it.

RATE THE EPISODE 363 Responses
Tumblr media
This was considered a very emotional episode for many viewers, but also highly praised. A majority 86.8% of viewers rated the episode 5/5, with only a few less thrilled viewers.
beautiful episode
Attack on Feels at its finest yet again
It felt slightly underwhelming, but I don't think it couldn't have been considering how great the previous episode was
I cried so much, but I liked it a lot.
Brilliant and excruciating
the most emotionally impactful episode for me so far. it was perfectly done
Awful, fast-paced, and just a statement that Araki wanted to get this out of the way before he could very probably put his eremika fillers. Him cutting out Reienr's tears is unforgivable. It lessens his relationship with bert when the fucking back-bump was a highlight of the OP.
Best of the season
Powerful episode with excellent voice acting.
It was absolutely perfect!
It was so emotional and dramatic, this show keeps getting better and better
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE EPISODE? 371 Responses
Tumblr media
A number of notable moments split the chart into several nearly even pieces. In fact, 16.2% of respondents could not decide their favorite moment. 12.7% did favor watching Levi make his final choice, with Levi and Hange saying their goodbyes to Erwin, Hange’s speech, and the 104th holding Armin in the 9%’s.
Shirtless Armin really waters my crops
This episode was DEVASTATING. OnoD had only one line, but even that one, all soft and weak that made the Commander sound so *human*... I was practically sobbing. And the look on Levi's face just. Just ended me.
Eren and Mikasa's pain was beautifully done. Kaji Yuuki is an absolute marvel, his voice is always dripping with emotion and Eren's pain brought me to tears, too. Not to mention Mikasa's wail...
WHICH SEIYUU WAS THE MVP THIS EPISODE? 366 Responses
Tumblr media
Of course, such emotional performances should be credited to the talented voice acting. 36.6% of respondents believe all of them deserve equal praise. 25.1% thought Eren’s seiyuu, Yuki Kaji, was MVP for this episode, followed by 17.8% Yui Ishikawa, who plays Mikasa.
Thanks to the voice actors it had more impact than the manga. I cried for Levi, who had to make the hardest decision of his life.
Yoooo i made a post on reddit appreciating Zeke's VA but he didn't get included in the VA list ;_;
i am a hardcore dub over sub person and yuki kaji had me in tears. SUPER phenomenal voice performance in this episode, jesus christ.
Might’ve been the best ensemble voice acting I’ve ever seen in anything and that included movies. Eren’s, Mikasa, and Levi’s performances were phenomenal. Also, Erwin and Bertholdt’s voiceactors made their deaths that much more impactful.
Great VA work. Growing increasingly attached to floch character because his VA is so good.
Regarding the voice actors this episode, everyone did an awesome job and I expect EreMika to take top place. I chose Hange though because this episode showed new sides of her and it felt like she had a bigger variety of emotions to display. From the relentless wish to kill a titan, which was something uncharacteristic of her usual self, to the strong and determined ""It was my decision"" and then her desperate and vulnerable speech, and finally, her worn-out ""He's already dead."
I may have said all the voice actors were MVP this episode(they are tbh lol added a lot to this already emotional episode) but Mikasa's crying omg I FELT THAT
Hands down to the voice actors this episode, man. They deserve all the praise they can get. 🙌
THIS EPISODE HAD A PROFOUND LACK OF BACKGROUND MUSIC. DO YOU THINK THIS WAS THE CORRECT DECISION ON THE PART OF THE ANIME TEAM? 369 Responses
Tumblr media
The majority of the episode had minimal or no background music. 71% of respondents were especially supportive of the decision, with 19.2% who were simply content. The rest would have preferred some more soundtracks or didn’t even notice at all.
It was a great decision, we could focus on what was the most important during those scenes - pure emotion in an outstanding performance by the VA's.
I feel like a track could've been placed during Hange's speech, but otherwise I liked the silence
thanksArminTitan ruined everything
It creeped me out so much. Awful yet good
It was great. But it could also have been great with music so I don't know if it was a good choice.
The silence made it feel eerie, you were able to hear the sizzling body in the background.
THE LACK OF AN OP WAS AN EXCELLENT DECISION. JUST HEARING SHIGASHINA BURNING? EXCELLENT DECISION.
This episode destroyed me! I was nearly in tears during the whole episode and finally shed tears once the music started playing at the end 😭
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT HANGE’S SPEECH? 371 Responses
Tumblr media
Hange’s monologue about loss tugged a lot of heart strings. 35.8% of respondents preferred seeing the flashback of Moblit’s sacrifice. 33.2% liked everything Hange had to say, while 20.8% favored the hug between Hange and Mikasa.
WHO DO YOU FEEL WAS OBJECTIVELY THE BETTER PERSON TO REVIVE? 370 Responses
Tumblr media
The decision between Armin and Erwin’s survival split the participants’ responses near evenly, though 47.3% thought the best objective choice was to revive Erwin, while 42.4% thought Armin was a better choice. (A small 10.3% thought neither were good options, you monsters!)
I want to say that depends on what sort of objectively we are looking for. Are we looking at it from an in character perspective? Then yes, I would've chosen Erwin. However, if we are looking at it from a story analysis/out of universe perspective, I feel Erwin should always have died, as Armin, in my opinion, has more potential for an additional narrative arc (though his character development would also have been perfect if he had died there) but also through Erwin's death, a lot more people gained new development (Levi, Hange, Armin obviously, Floche to some degree, to some degree the rest of the 104th) that I feel is much more important from a narrative point of view. This arc marks the moment where the status quo about the world is very violently shaken up, and Erwin's death does the same thing to the SC which I feel works best thematically.
OBJECTIVENESS ASIDE, WHO WOULD YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO REVIVE? 371 Responses
Tumblr media
When it comes to personal preference, 70.1% of respondents would revive Armin, while 24% would have picked Erwin.
HOW DO YOU THINK ERWIN WOULD FEEL IF HE HAD BEEN PICKED INSTEAD OF ARMIN? 365 Responses
Tumblr media
Had Erwin been chosen to receive the serum instead of Armin, 49.6% of respondents believe he would have mostly felt guilty. 25.8% believed Erwin would understand the final decision, while 15.3% think he’d be disappointed.
Accepting, but terribly sad, guilty and weary.
Happy to find out about the basement but once he confirmed his father’s theory, I think he would have preferred not being chosen.
Depressed. After the basement? Unmotivated and listless.
The first thing is he would want to go see the basement. After that, he'd continue to be crushed by his guilt and feel burdened with the responsibility of the titan power even though he no longer has a motivation to lead an army.
His speech made everyone go on a suicide charge with him, therefore after he would survive his guilt of fallen comrades would be unmeasurable. The charge was his final decision and his final redemption.
Erwin not only feel guilty at having been forced to live after coming to peace with his death, he would probably also come to resent Levi for breaking Erwin's trust by bringing him back.
Idk i feel he'd kinda be resentful like he was ready to die and he did value armin's skills so maybe he would view them killing off potential as a bad choice?
He would be suicidal like Reiner. Truth is Erwin wanted to die. And the basement reveal wouldn't make him happy. Like oh shit I found out the truth but now I have to worry about humans(Marley) instead of Titans now.
Very very tired. And saddened by Armin's death (cause the loss of potential, and I sorta feel Erwin does see his own younger self in Armin) but at the same time, it's also the same sadness over all the recruits that died. And again, that they died but he lived.
WHY DO YOU THINK LEVI INJECTED ARMIN INSTEAD OF ERWIN? 371 Responses
Tumblr media
Multiple possibilities factored into Levi’s decision to pick Armin, though 45.8% of viewers believe it was mostly because Levi wanted to let Erwin rest. 42.6% believed it was a mix of all possible factors that played a role in his decision.
Erwin told Levi how he felt all his dead comrades were looking at him, Levi didn't want him to live with the guilt any longer.
I think ultimately, after Floch's speach Levi realized that Erwin was indeed becoming a monster and he didnt want him to go further down. But I also think that he cared for Armin and his dream enough that also played a part in his choice. He may have realized that he was being a hypocrite when he told Eren to set his feelings aside.
I believe that Levi wanted Erwin to escape this hellish world but also because he saw a more visionary future from Armin.
He realized Erwin gave up on his dream and made his mind to die but Armin hasnt and died while still longing for his dream. Plus he wanted him to rest from being a devil with guilt
Levi realized that Erwin had given all he had to give and that he’d only be bringing back an empty shell of who Erwin was. It would also be cruel to bring him back, as Levi explained.
He realized that Erwin and Kenny were both driven by the intoxication of their dreams, and wanted to set Erwin free from that.
Levi understood that Erwin's wish was to die there, at that moment when he was finally in tune with his words as a commander
Many factors influenced Levi's final decision. But I want to say something that suits better than simply saying "Levi chooses Armin". I mean, yes, he gave him the serum and the chance to be reborn to Armin, but I saw him more as if Levi chose Erwin as the best way for him, not for humanity. Both (and all) are slaves of a dream, a goal to achieve in their lives, and it is wrong to say that some dreams are more "good" or more valuable than others. Their lives cannot be measured by their actions, but by their souls. And Erwin soul was tired, full of pitty and guilt for how much soldiers and close friends died because "they gave their hearts" to him, their life and dreams for humanity, and every dead was a weight that fall in his shoulders, every mission, every year. And for Levi, Erwin is the most important person in his life, he knew all of his suffer. Erwin's death was the freedom for him, being freed of living in this hellsite and being called by the name of the devil. In summary, Levi decision was the most kind, empathetic and noble act in his life for Erwin. He loves this man so much, he needs to rest.
WHICH CHARACTER DO YOU FIND YOURSELF MOURNING THE MOST? 370 Responses
Tumblr media
Three long-term character deaths happened in this episode. 58.4% of respondents grieved Erwin the most. Moblit was mourned by 18.9% of participants and 16.8% were more emotional for Bertolt’s demise.
Bertholdt deserved better 😔
I thought I got over Erwin’s death but haHA GUESS I WAS WRONG
RIP Erwin.
I feel almost cheated by having Bertl reduced to just titan fodder for the sake of pushing a protag’s story along.
F to Erwin
WHICH PART OF THE EPISODE GOT YOU CHOKED UP, IF AT ALL? 369 Responses
Tumblr media
There were plenty of tearful moments that got viewers grabbing their tissues. Mikasa’s panicked crying when Levi was preparing to inject Erwin choked up 16.8% of participants the most. Levi’s reaction to Erwin’s death was the saddest to 13.3%, and 11.9% were emotional over Eren’s final plea to save Armin.
I teared up when Erwin died; I didn't realize the anime adaptation of Serumbowl would affect me so much. Kudos to the directors, VAs, animators, everyone for such an impactful episode
The episode was beautiful. It made me cry throughout most of it. The voice acting was amazing, especially Mikasa’s VA imo. Tons of respects for the VAs for delivering so much raw emotion and the animators’ amazing work on the visuals.
I'm not crying you're crying
Even if Eren and Mikasa were more demonstrative in their emotions, the one that made my heart broke is without hesitation Levi. His silent despair was much more poignant.
the "Which part of the episode got you choked up, if at all" made me insulted. I choked up the entire episode and this wasn't even a option.
I didn't cry like I did in the manga.
HOW WELL DID THE ANIME ADAPT THE CORRESPONDING CHAPTERS? 367 Responses
Tumblr media
Overall, a majority of respondents believed the episode was very faithful to the manga with 80.4% rating at a near perfect score.
i wish the anime production team would realize that since anime ("film") and manga ("print") are two totally different media, you cant just adapt an anime episode "panel by panel" from a manga and have it be as good. it needs to be formatted for *anime*. such a lazy fucking way to go about adapting a show
Honestly this episode was emotionally exhausting, in a good way. The silence was a brilliant choice on the directors' part as it let the VAs raw emotion carry the episode. Character animation and expressions were also on point. Couldn't be happier with the adaptation of Ch.83-84.
IF LEVI HAD CHOSEN TO INJECT ERWIN, DO YOU THINK THAT THE CURRENT MANGA SITUATION WOULD BE AS DIRE? 370 Responses
Tumblr media
It’s possible the events of the manga would have been different if Erwin were chosen instead of Armin. 24.9% of respondents the situation would be just as dire, 24.6% are not sure what would have happened, and 24.1% have faith in Erwin to come up with better strategies.
Armin will come through like he always does
His presence COULD have prevented a lot of factors, but this is just a guess, there is no guarantee he would change anything.
It would probably have been as bad, but Armin still has time to do something important.
Eren probably would've been a bit resentful over losing his best friend. Resulting in him going off on his own and being potentially more uncaring with the choices he makes
Would things be different if Erwin had been saved? I believe a lot of the shit that's going on in the manga right now is because cultists infiltrated the Survey Corps. I know Erwin is not perfect but his absence left a clear gap in their organization.
Hard to say. Grass is greener on the other side.
Just different. I don't think we can say that Erwin would've dealt with the current situation better because the current situation would not exist at all. From the moment of Erwin's death, the decisions became Hange's and her priorities shaped those. Erwin, from the start, would've made different decisions. Those may have led to the same situation occurring, those might have led to a whole different set of difficult circumstances. It is impossible to predict. Plus there is the Eren factor. We have Eren causing a lot of trouble for the SC right now, and that is an Eren who did get the revival of his best friend and his close companionship for a few more years. And Eren who lost Armin would've acted completely differently. Would he have resented the SC? Would he have even wanted to stay under the people who, in his eyes, killed Armin? Would anyone be able to talk him down. Would he strike out on his own more quickly and have another reason for potentially joining with Zeke? Maybe in a universe where Erwin was revived, sure, they would've had his experience and political savvy, but it is quite possible they would've lost Eren completely at a much earlier point. Does that lead to a better or worse situation? We literally cannot say.
I don't think there's a way to know for sure. Erwin stated that he wasn't sure what he planned to do after seeing Eren's basement, plus I'm not sure if he would have been able to handle any more guilt related to sending his soldiers to their deaths. Personally, I agreed with Levi when he said that Erwin deserved to rest.
No fucking Armin is useless as of now. That's what Hange was saying about leadership and insight. We could easily argue Isayama hasn't written anything for Armin, but you could also argue that attests to his lack of. Erwin wouldn't let Eren go rogue. The biggest question to ask all manga readers is whether Armin has done anything for humanity that Erwin couldn't have done thus far.
The situation inside the walls would definitely be a lot more organized, but when it comes to turning the tables on Marley, Armin seems to find the most creative ways to turn the tables on their enemies in a way that doesn’t leave a pile of corpses behind him the way Erwin does. The early part of this arc demonstrated what they lost with Erwin, but I believe it’s Armin’s turn to do something great again. And let’s be honest, it’s Eren’s fault that Armin hasn’t gotten the chance to do anything besides plan the Liberio reinforcements anyways.
EREN WAS UNABLE TO LET ARMIN GO, A SHOW OF HOW MUCH HIS FRIENDS ARE HIS WEAKNESS. DO YOU THINK HE STILL HARBORS THE SAME WEAKNESS TOWARDS THEM IN THE CURRENT EVENTS? 371 Responses
Tumblr media
One of Eren’s biggest vulnerabilities is his attachment to his friends, although current manga events have displayed Eren’s less heartfelt treatment of his loved ones. 51.5% of respondents, however, still believe Eren harbors the same weakness for them now as he did back then.  25.6% aren’t quite sure, while 18.6% believe he has completely moved on.
He does care. He just isn’t weak about it. Or at least, he doesn’t show it. But he still wants to protect them.
I think only placing Armin or Mikasa in a deathly situation would descover If Eren still harbours feelings for them. In this point of the manga I believe Eren has forgotten all love and compassion and he needs a sparkle to remind them.
He grew up, so of course he has changed. But I still believe he cares about them, he just doesn't want them around rn and prefers to do this by himself.
Eren never really cared about his friends. He didn't wnat to let Armin go because he can't take no for an answer.
Some yes but I think he is influenced by so many previous titan shifters and the titans themselves it got kinda suppressed
Probably? Maybe he kept what happened here in mind in order to say the horrible things he did in Ch 112. I honestly hadn't thought of this before, that Eren himself would distance his friends because they were his weaknesses. :/
I don’t think Eren actually loves Armin, just what Armin symbolizes to him
Maybe a little but not as much
if we can believe what the message Isayama is making us read between the lines to see, yes, the 104th are his weakness and he is subjecting himself to be a terrible villain for their futures and freedom, 100%
HAS THE ANIME ADAPTATION OF THE SERUMBOWL™ CHANGED YOUR PERCEPTION OF EREN AND MIKASA IN THIS MOMENT? 367 Responses
Tumblr media
When the Serumbowl chapters were first released, there were varying reactions to Eren and Mikasa’s actions. With years since then and the anime retelling, most viewers’ opinions remained unchanged, 69.5% of respondents say that they were always empathetic, while 10.1% are still indifferent, and 9.3% remain upset by their behavior.
I get where they were coming from, I still do. But I also still think they shouldn't have acted this way (neither of them, even Levi), but it was a tough and intense situation
It was badly animated and overacted so I cringed. But that’s not the characters’ fault
Eren was understandably sad but Mikasa proved her unlikability further with her need to resort to violence.
From their perspective, it was reasonable for them to feel that way. However, I felt disappointed that Erwin was going to die especially since I would have chosen him.
I understood their behavior, but they were in the wrong ( both versions)
Empathised before, but now moreso
It changed a bit from Eren side bc I was surprise by the ease he could have to rebel against someone he admire that much, but also Mikasa bc with a manga reader perspective, I saw that she wouldn't have killed none of Levi and Floch. But tbh I just  thought "Oh waw, it's almost scary to see how well they get along when it comes to murder someone"
EreMika being emotional during the serumbowl. Well that is understandable but not excusable. I could argue that Levi was emotional too, his decision to revive Armin wasn't just because he wanted Erwin to rest but also because he thought Armin had a good, pure dream (otherwise he wouldn't have gotten all those flashbacks of Armin flailing about the sea). But EreMika only wanted their friend alive, with little consideration towards Humanity's chances of survival, and only after a long process of persuasion did Mikasa finally let go of Armin...while Eren still did not. That, coupled with the fact that Mikasa legit attacked their one and only best soldier because emotions...I cannot find their actions justifiable…
Eren action just screams childish and selfish just like a child who is throwing a tantrum and crying out loud when his demand wasn’t fulfilled. I understand he can’t helped it since it’s his precious friend but it just shows his immaturity and his inability to understand other people pains other than his own. I don’t see him putting his faith in Levi’s decisions nor others comrades’ when the decisions didn’t go the way he likes; he was angry, bitter, he even forced to take it away and threatening.
FLOCH HAS COMPARED BOTH ERWIN AND EREN TO A DEVIL. DO YOU THINK HE SEES THE SAME QUALITIES IN EREN NOW THAN HE HAD SEEN IN ERWIN? 369 Responses
Tumblr media
Floch believes only a devil can defeat their enemies. With the current happenings of the manga, 73.4% of respondents believe Floch thinks Eren holds similar “monstrous” qualities that Erwin had, though 14.6% are not quite sure.
Maybe Floch in the Manga is trying to become the devil because he knows no one else will do it.
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SPLIT SECOND FLASHBACK OF ERWIN RAISING HIS HAND AT SCHOOL? 367 Responses
Tumblr media
The anime added a brief transition scene of Erwin raising his hand at school. 52.9% of respondents enjoyed the addition and felt it helped show that Erwin was in a dreamlike state. 40.6% of viewers though it was a neat extra touch that added more impact to the moment. A small amount of viewers could have done without it.
I jumped when i saw that moment, that was a perfect decision, this episode is truly poetic cinema.
Essentially the second option, but I'd like to say that it wasn't just a "neat" addition, it was a heartbreakingly poignant one.
really makes you realize how much erwin was stuck in the past
I blinked and almost missed it, so if they were gonna add it, they should have made it a tad longer
Apparently this still wasn't enough for people to realize that this was Erwin hallucinating, and not him rejecting the serum.
I feel like Erwin overheard everything & willingly rejected the serum, but was just so out of it that he couldn’t form the right words to tell Levi his actual thoughts on the matter. I think it’s good writing, generally speaking.
I started sobbing
It was funny and silly actually
This scene was made in perfection. It showed Erwin’s hopes and dreams but also his big heroism and dedication to the cause.

NOW THAT WE KNOW MORE ABOUT BERTOLT, HAVE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT HIS DEATH CHANGED? 366 Responses
Tumblr media
More information on Bertolt’s backstory was revealed later in the manga, which had 31.7% of respondents feel more pity for him when watching his death in the anime. 24.6% were always sad to see him die and 21% of participants felt more sad about it.
Didn't really change. On one hand i feel bad for him but i also really disliked him.
His death in the anime mirrored Marco's and seemed fitting
Nah, i didn't felt anything when he died, and even tho i am more empatethic and pit for with him rn, he still killed hundreds of people. It's good to understand the characters reasons (somethign wedon't have with Eren) but it's also a fact that his reasons don't erase what he did.
I felt bad for Bert's death before the Marley arc. But more of a disturbing pity way. Now I feel alot more sympathetic. However, he still deserved to die unfortunately.
In that moment I felt so bad and there are times when I do but in general I prefer Paradis to Marley. Though I understand what an awful situation they are in. The music and how it was carried out was heartbreaking tho.
His reaction just broke me, in the end he was left alone, with his own guilt and unfulfilment.
I am more sympathetic, but I still believe that he brought that onto himself.
I've always been ambivalent about Bert's death; I'm not happy to see him die but I'm not particularly sad either.
No, he's one of the characters the series could never get me to care much for.
Seeing Bertholdt’s death made me a lot more emotional than the manga. His reaction and voice acting really hit it home for me since I have a soft spot for him after reading the manga. RIP Bertie, despite the circumstances he couldn’t control he definitely deserved better :’(
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE ADDITION OF BERTOLT SMILING AS HE SPOTS HIS FORMER COMRADES? 368 Responses
Tumblr media
The anime added a moment of Bertolt’s temporarily smiling when he saw his former comrades.  44.3% of participants thought the addition added more emotional impact to his death, and 28.5% of participants felt sorry for him. 14.9% were upset that Bertolt had the nerve to smile at all.
Dark as heck, I love it
After he clearly asked them to die, how could he think they would help him? (Granted, he was panicking and all but still...)
It was a good show that for a brief moment after regaining consciousness, he was back to thinking of his days as a solder and that his old friendship would save him, before realizing the gravity of the situation
Didn't notice until it was pointed out on Reddit; strange detail to add
It made the scene weirdly comedic
That moment of hope then realization did work emotionally, but I preferred the way it happened in the manga.
It wasn't a smile. More like a baffled-smile.
We all know that his actions were imposed, and the thought of them alone has traumatized the RBA trio. They have shown many times the guilt and need for forgiveness for everything they did. They don't deserve any of this, much less die in such a horrible way as being devoured alive! For me, Berthold was a background character, the boy who was always next to Reiner and that's all, but reviewing and watching more closely his evolution in the anime, even more his death, made me feel really bad for him. Berth deserved more attention in his life, more love and praise, because it is evident that his self-esteem was THAT LOW for all the comments that others gave, including Reiner, his best friend. Anyway, as I said in a post, the one who died was not the Colossal Titan, was a lonely, shy and noble teenager who just wanted to be loved.
I truly wish the survey corps were instead able to convert Bertolt and Reiner to their side instead of watching Bertolt die so brutally. The fact that he flashed a smile when he saw his former comrades really goes to show that he instinctively thought of them as his friends. Truly a sad addition to the anime. All he wanted was to be found.
WHICH SCENE FROM THE PREVIEW ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? 366 Responses
Tumblr media
From the preview scenes of the Basement, a majority 39.9% of participants anticipate the scene of Eren being unable to unlock the door with the key. 29.8% of respondents are most looking forward to Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and Hange approaching the basement. 13.7% are anticipating the scene where Armin learns about the sacrifices made to revive him.
I just need to see Eren's face trying so Hard to lift the bar that fell on top of his house and Mikasa and Levi just lift it like it is a feather.
Levi opening the basement's door with his foot is one of the best scenes of the whole chapter and no one will ever change my mind
THERE HAVE BEEN RUMORS ABOUT A POSSIBLE ANIME-ONLY EM FLASHBACK SEQUENCE NEXT EPISODE TO MAKE SURE THE EPISODE ENDS WITH GRISHA AND FAYE LEAVING THEIR HOUSE. THOUGHTS? 367 Responses
Tumblr media
There are rumors that the new episode will have an extended flashback with Eren and Mikasa.  60.8% of respondents are fine with the addition as long as it doesn’t detract from the manga material. Others are very excited about the flashback, don’t want the extra scenes, or don’t care.
As long as it contributes to what’s currently happening, I won’t have a problem with it.
I don't think anime has time for filler
The anime direly needs a breather episode to let people process the events of the last few episodes, and that would allow for it while also leading to an ending that brings in the next part of the story.
I dont like filler but if it's relevant and faithful to the story, why not
I like when they stick straight to the manga, but this will be interesting?
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
The anime deciding to work both 83 and 84 into an episode solved my biggest issue with Serumbowl just like that. By having both chapters flow into each other, the sense of urgency and chaos of the event actually resonated with me, rather that having lost that in the monthly wait between chapters. And I really appreciate that.
I was crying like a fuckin baby, this was amazing.
Wonderful episode. So much emotion. I was only disappointed to see that it removed the close-up shot of a crying Reiner. I believe it was the only scene of him ever shedding a tear since he became a warrior..
Hange may have suffered the most by losing her close friend/assistant and her close friend/commander + physically losing her left eye. She also has to step up to the mantle of being the new commander to fill the impossibly large shoes that Erwin left behind.
All the emotions I felt while watching this episode made me realise how much i am greatful for those who matter to me the most, this is why this episode was just the best.
Erwin will live forever in my heart. Best anime character
Sad that we didn't see Reiner crying.
I find it great that Bert's death was done in such a great way where whether you are a Manga or Anime-only viewer, you have tons of different conflicting opinions regarding Bert's death.
This episode was splendid, brilliant in every way, I just have to give a round of applause to the voice actors and animators who did this great work. And maybe for that reason and to relive these feelings already believed buried years ago, I thought about what things would have happened and not if another path had been taken. The death of Erwin was the breaking of everything. In that time (years ago) when I saw that Levi chose Armin, it was sad, VERY SAD, but I had faith that he would be the future and the hope to guide us to a better destiny, one without big conflicts and wise and transcendent decisions, but no. Until now Armin has not done much, almost nothing. The current situation of the government, the "betrayal" from Eren and genocide on Liberio, Historia waiting for the time to pass so that her son born and immediately introduce her to the curse that cost so much to get out, ingesting the Beast Titan from Zeke. All these factors make me think that if Erwin was alive none of this would have happened, his leadership and conviction are more necessary than ever now. And seeing it as a whole, more than the fact that Erwin is officially dead (I mean in anime and manga), it gives me even more pain and helplessness than before to see that maybe Levi's decision was not the right one. This feel of desolation also falls for Levi (ofc), Hange, Armin, Eren, Historia, in everyone! Perhaps if the situation had been different, maybe everything would be better, I don't know. However, I don't want to stop believing in Armin, if he was chosen is because he has a purpose to fulfill, perhaps being the new "Helos" that will stop this great war, I don't know either... We'll see it soon, I hope so.
Some of the timing in the animation was weird and irked me a little
"I read the manga, I know whats gonna happen, I'll be fine" - BOY WAS I WRONG! Cried like a bitch pratically the whole episode holy crap what a masterpiece this episode was
It was so so so so badly animated. It looked worse than the manga. The amount of completely still frames was absurd.
It feels like the end of an era. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch the anime the same way. After this, everything turns upside down, and everything seems tainted by the truth of their world. When I think like that I'm glad Levi let Erwin go when he did. Erwin would have thrived in the current events, for sure, but he would've hated it and himself for his part in it. I have no doubt Erwin would blame himself thoroughly for Armin's death, if he had been given the serum then.
Best episode of season 3 thus far. I feel like the art in this episode is the best out of any of them, mostly due to the fact that they probably brought back some of the season 2 staff to work their Close-Up-Facial-Shot-Magic™️. There was a lot of detail put into the faces of the characters this time around and I feel like that’s been lacking ever since season 3 started. I hope they stick around for the rest of the season.
As someone who is extremely neutral about Mikasa, this episode made me shed tears at the expression of utter pain she had when she accepted armin's death, 10/10 animation, how heartbreaking.
The last 3 episodes are the greatest Attack On Titan episodes ever. I just can't decide which one is the best. I am leaning on Hero, but both Perfect Game and Midnight Sun could easily take its place.
omg it was so good I died and thanked God that snk exists kjnhbdhcbdsapozkd

Spring 2019 #1
So what will I be watching this season instead of working for my finals...  Not mentioning OPM, SNK nor Jojo
Tumblr media
- Fruits Basket is back!! It’s the first manga I’ve ever read and I was very emotional during the whole first episode. Not only is it very cool to see the characters again, but the animation, the background, the voice actors, everything is amazing. The ending is so pure I cried. Am I being objective ? No.
- Fairygone looks like the heavy-plot challenger of the season. A fantasy / steampunk universe with war, mafia, magical creatures and a revenge story? Count me in. Animation and chara-design looking good. Also badass lady duet. I can’t really say more, since the plot hasn’t really begun as of now, waiting for it though!
- Robihachi is a very good surprise! It does not make any sense whatsoever and has no will to do so, but it’s actually funny as hell and the characters are very stupid. Brace yourself to follow two bros across space doing whatever they are doing. Officially adopting Hachi now. Other than that the animation is fluid and colourful. A treat. The remaining question being - is it gay?
- Kimetsu no Yaiba (aka Demon Slayer bc I will not remember the Japanese name) and also aka the anime of the season I won’t take any critiques the first episode was LIT it was dynamic, the animation is beautiful with the CGI being extremely well-used, the universe and the characters are very intriguing especially the MC, he is such a genuinely good person and yet straightaway badass I love this man. Go on, anime, you have all my attention. Just look at this opening frame THAT’S GORGEOUS.
Tumblr media
Let’s see where these four shows go, compared to the huge series coming back (ONE PUNCHHHHHHHH)!

I have some questions that might sound dumb but whatever. What does meta and queue mean?
Hello! They're not dumb, you simply don't know what they mean, it's okay.
"Meta", I believe, is a term that has been misused in fandom spaces. When I first approached fandoms, I was puzzled at why analyses of..things were called "meta".
I was taught that, in a literary context, "meta" was a term used to describe a piece of art that references itself or talks about itself, sometimes even by breaking the fourth-wall (i.e. addressing its audience).
So, for example:
Actors in a theater piece talking about acting and theater's conventions, etc.
Shirobako is a meta anime, because it's a Japanese anime that talks about anime production in all its phases in Japan.
Bakuman is a meta manga, it talks about the manga industry, mangaka's job, editors, how manga are created, approved and published, etc.
But in fandom, it's been used to mean "analysis". What "snk meta" really means is "snk analysis", "character meta" is "character analysis", etc.
I don't know if this came about because someone started using "meta" without knowing what it meant and everyone just thought it was a cool term and started spreading it or if it can be used about art discussion in general, tbh. I just know that if Isayama made, I don't know, Eren say to Armin "I feel like we're characters without free will in a cruel story"...well, that would be considered a "meta comment", because it is something that can be read as Eren feeling depressed about his life condition but also, it can be read as a greater, universal comment about how Eren is a character in a story so he literally has no will of his own.
When you see posts tagged as "queue", "q", "queueueueue", "it's mah Q", and other frilly variations of it, it means that person put those posts in its blog's queue so their blog would remain active even when they aren't on tumblr at that moment in time.
Tumblr media
You can open up your Queue page and it explains to you what it does as such (this is mine, as you can see, I decided to only have 1 automatically queued post published per day + some scheduled ones, but you can choose how many times a day your queued posts/reblogs are published):
