post-canon reikasa please if that's okay ❤️

that's a-okay! i'm sorry this is my first time writing reikasa, so it's not the best thing i've ever written. this is more or less where it would begin for the two of them. now I’m intrigued to explore them a little more. hope you enjoy!

The house was nowhere near big enough to bed everyone, but they made it work. Mikasa didn’t mind sleeping on the couch. Most nights, it was easier than sleeping in her bedroom. The bedroom that she used to share with Eren. 

“Are you sure you don’t need anything?” Annie asked as she was washing the dishes. 

Mikasa shook her head, “No. Go sleep, you must be exhausted.” 

Annie didn’t put up much of a fight as she disappeared up the ladder.  

She thought it might be easier with everyone here, but it was a little harder. Being with their old friends, sharing the memories, and knowing well what that meant. She was also happy for Armin and Annie but there was that dull pain in her heart. Though, there was a small comfort in knowing that he was okay. 

At least one of us got our happily ever after… 

She finished the dishes and noticed that the front door was slightly creaked open. She walked over to close it but she noticed a large, hulking figure and she’d know that figure anywhere… 

“She stepped into the warm summer air and found Reiner standing there, a cigarette between his fingers. 

He turned his head, a little startled but made no effort to conceal what he was doing. 

“You haven’t slept yet?” he asked a little sheepishly. 

“No. Didn’t know you smoked,” she responded, closing the door behind her. 

“Not often, but sometimes…” 

It was odd. He’d cleaned up. He looked younger, even. He looked less burdened but there were ghosts in his eyes, as she imagined there were in everyone else’s. 

The truth was, they hadn’t really talked much before now. Sure they’d trained together, fought each other, and then fought alongside each other, but they’d never actually talked. He’d mentioned to her that she haunted his nightmares sometimes and she honestly found that kind of funny. 

“You look good, though,” he said suddenly and Mikasa looked at him, shocked. 

“Oh, um, thanks, so do you?” 

It was high summer at this so her cheeks were burning. Damn. 

There was a smile on his face, “Heh, thanks. Also your cooking is delicious. Where’d you learn to cook like that?” 

There was a pang of longing in her chest. It was a simple question but one that reminded her of just how much she’d lost, “My mom. And…Auntie Carla.” 

A shadow passed through his features. He suddenly looked so guilty and Mikasa wasn’t about to continue on that train of thought. Yes, a lot of the misery started that day thirteen years ago, but they all had blood on their hands and things to feel guilty about. 

Her heart was still six feet below in a grave on the hill of the man who’d done much worse. 

“Well, it was good. Can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow,” he went on with a chuckle. She found herself smiling. 

Was he always like that? 

She’d never gotten a good look at him before. She just remembered that he looked older than his years and now that the curse wasn’t weighing him down, he looked…good. Good and manly. 

Wait… 

Oh, suddenly she was feeling quite tired. 

“I laid out a bed for you downstairs. Hope you don’t mind sharing the space with Jean and Connie,” she said. He didn’t respond. 

Before she disappeared back into the house, Reiner’s voice stopped her. 

“I could walk with you to the baker tomorrow. I know you said you needed to go. And then maybe we could walk around the town a little bit.” 

“Of course,” she answered a little too quickly. 

He turned to give her a smile over his shoulder which she returned. 

Weird. She was inside where it was nice and cool but her cheeks were still burning…

Queen of ReiKasa, may I ask you for ReikasaxSpy Family crossover HC?

I hear you, fam! With the release of SpyxFamily fanart by Isayama, this is a long overdue interest of mine. When I saw the first three covers of SxF manga, I immediately thought of ReiKasa! Let's reimagine that Reiner and Mikasa, the actors, starred in their next series project after SnK entitled, SpyxFamily.

This can be taken as a continuation of the ReiKasa Actor Universe Headcanon

Casting

After the global success of Shingeki no Kyojin The Series (SnKTS), many named actors and actresses from the series were shortlisted by WIT Studio & Clover Works production to helm their next big series project- an adaptation based on the bestselling manga series by Tatsuya Endo, SpyxFamily.

Reiner Braun was one of the top contenders for the lead role of Loid Forger (Codename: Twilight), an experienced undercover agent who was tasked to find more information on Desmond Donovan, an oppositional party leader believed to be supplying enemy forces with information.

It was not only Reiner's physical likeliness that was spot on to the character design in the original source, the natural energy that Reiner portrayed through his previous character in SnKTS secured his casting call. He knocked the ball out of the park with his natural charisma and impressive action portfolio.

As for Yor Briar (Codename: the Thorn Princess), the female lead, WIT Studio decided that there can be no other actress but Mikasa Ackerman for the most coveted role. This Emmy Award-Winning actress' impressive performance in SnKTS secured her the role immediately as she was handpicked by the SpyxFamily director and the same showrunners involved in both series.

The fact that the actor & actress have a very private married life with each other and both had been taking a one-year hiatus to raise their newborns after SnKTS production wrapped up, only made their casting selection indisputable as fans had been raving for their on-screen comeback for quite some time. SpyxFamily is a family series that fits the young new parents perfectly. Reiner and Mikasa's natural chemistry was undeniable from the first table reading.

For his mission, Loid Forger is required to secure a child as Donovan rarely makes appearances in public unless it's to attend primary functions at the prestigious Eden school. He managed to adopt a child from an orphanage name Anya, who, unknowingly is an Esper to assist him in his mission as his adopted daughter.

For Anya's character, aspiring child actress Gabi Braun who made her debut in SnKTS scored the role through her versatile acting range. The makeup team also did an amazing job in helping young Gabi nail the physical look required for the role. Gabi's familial dynamic with her fellow co-star Reiner, who had portrayed her cousin in SnKTS, made her the ideal choice to play Anya Forger in the series.

The moment the casting announcement was made, fans of SnKTS rallied their support for the new series helmed by their favorite stars.

Production

Same as SnKTS, Reiner, and Mikasa both performed their own stunts for SpyxFamily. Their naturally compatible battle and fight chemistry immediately become series fans' favorites and they were each nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role for this year's Golden Globe Awards through their respective roles as Loid Forger and Yor Forger.

The couple is managed by the same manager and publicist, thus their shooting schedule and production wrapped up much earlier than planned without delays. The series premiere was shifted three months than its intended release, shortlisting SpyxFamily as the most anticipated summer release of the year.

One of Reiner's notable moments as Loid Forger was when he performed all of his fight scenes in one take involving Max, the dog who played Bond, their onscreen family pet with gifted powers of clairvoyance.

Meanwhile, for Mikasa, it was on the cruise ship arc when Yor fought a group of terrorists intending to harm a baby and his mother in a witness protection program. She performed all of the stunts involved in 48 hours. (A cool trivia that no one knows was that the baby actor(s) they had casted for the cruise arc had been Reiner & Mikasa's very own real life twin babies!)

Reiner & Mikasa's favorite scene would be none other than the infamous Loid and Yor's proposal & vow exchange scene, making it the hottest and literally most explosive moment to ever went down in cinematic history. In a behind-the-scenes interview, Reiner and Mikasa could be seen divulging some information about their extremely private and high-profile wedding that took place during the peak of SnKTS's popularity as they discussed the now-famous and most-memed SpyxFamily scene.

The SpyxFamily production team is more family to Reiner, Mikasa and Gabi where practical jokes, birthday celebrations and surprises are to be expected daily on-set. The couple also hosted frequent dinner parties as an appreciation towards the production team members and crew.

The moment the series was confirmed for three more seasons, Reiner was also promoted as one of the Executive Producers, making SpyxFamily the biggest accolade in his filmography after SnKTS.

Mikasa went on to win several more distinctive awards for her incredible portrayal of Yor Briar/Forger.

Hello 😁 can I ask for a fic of ReiKasa transported into Marvel world and have to join avengers (I'm embarrassed to ask this 😂) because it has been on my mind lately

I can’t give you a fic, but I can give you a drawing! While I’m completely down for one-shots, I know any Reikasa AU is going to make me want to do something multi-chaptered, especially for something like a Marvel AU. That, and it’s been awhile since I last watched a Marvel movie. So to save all of you from OOC characters, I have instead turned to art. 

I love this idea so much! There are already plenty of potential paths they could take. For this specifically, I decided to have them ‘transported’ during their training years. 

Mikasa would keep using her Survey Corps gear. Or, at least a uniform modeled to be similar to it. She likes its familiarity and knows it's how she works best. 

Reiner would eventually, hesitantly reveal his titan shifter abilities to her. (This could also be a lot faster depending on when they’re transported into the Marvel world - Battle of New York anyone?) 

She would, obviously, feel betrayed and be noticeably upset and angry. I don’t see her immediately trying to kill him, like with the reveal in canon, as he’s not exactly threatening the lives of her friends. But, there would be a long period of little to no communication, or very cold communication, between them as they try and figure out the new world they’ve been thrown into. 

They’d be forced to work together as members of the Avengers Initiative, and it’s through those interactions that they realize they’re all they’ve got of their past lives (no Eren, no Armin, no Karina or Gabi). It’s familiar. And when they grow to be more comfortable, they begin to talk; they become close, and they’ll eventually have a connection that’s far beyond any they can possibly create with characters from the Marvel Universe. 

In time, they’d grow to rely on one another, trust one another, and confide in one another. Reiner would share about his past - all he lost and how he wished everything could be different, and Mikasa would open herself up to being vulnerable - sharing her secrets, talking about her worries. 

They’d start dating soon after that. 

And, if the other Survey Corps members were transported to the Marvel Universe later down the line, I know they’d absolutely be shocked at Mikasa and Reiner acting like a full on, regular ole couple, with absolutely no explanation for it as they greet their fellow comrades. 

As for the drawing, I immediately knew I wanted to do a roof scene. And because I can’t come up with outfits of my own, I decided that they’d be “fresh out of combat” so I can just, easily reference what they already wear lmao. (Not that the Survey Corps uniform is fully accurate. Me getting all those details down? Hell nah).

It depends on what you consider a WIP. If you only count fics where I currently have a document currently active, it's just Twist of Fate, the sequel/sister fic to A Line Uncrossed, since that's long enough that I want to wrap it up before starting anything else. That's going to become a full series focusing on Eruri, Gabi, and background slowburn Reikasa, although I'm yet to come up with a series name for it. However, if you count all ongoing series as WIPs, I have...

The Call - My Mikannie Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU (which can be read without being familiar with Buffy). Also ended up including w a y more Yumihisu than I had initially planned, and a big focus on platonic relationships outside of the romance.

Unchanging Destinations - A canon-divergent AU where Reiner is Marleyan on Karina's side and Eldian on his fathers. Features Jeanpiku, Falbi, and in the next few fics, some highly dysfunctional Gallirei.

Destiny's Challenger - The series where Gabi is physically sent back in time to 850 Paradis. I've finally finished the mountain of prequels for this fic. Updating the main story, Time's Witness, is next on my to-do list after I finish Twist of Fate. Mostly gen, but there is some background Falbi, Eremika, Aruani, and Yumihisu.

One Last Dance - An Attack on Titan fic. You don't get to know what this is yet, only that it's coming.

Year of Fire - An Avatar fic. Styled as a series of interconnected one-shots, Azula and Aang slowly fall in love over the course of a year-long trip around the world, as narrated by Toph Bei Fong.

colt was definitely a gentle and generous lover but not exactly in the way that mikasa liked. reiner was rough the first time but after that, he kept asking if she’s okay and talked and mikasa had to learn how to tune him out. only ymir till date was able to satisfy a need properly but then there was eren…who somehow knew exactly what she needed. and now “he’s the warlord but his dick is amazing.”

ReiKasa x Marvel Cinematic Universe Crossover Headcanon #023

Reiner and Mikasa both are very profound in terms of their raw strength and savior energies. In cross fandom universes, they would be the ultimate superhero couple. Well, Reiner very possibly would begin as an anti-hero from Marley who would eventually discover an initial kindred spirit type of camaraderie before it develops into an intense battle synergy & palpable chemistry with the all-Eldian super heroine, Mikasa Ackerman. From two opposing forces, Reiner and Mikasa would somehow find their stars aligned in the cosmos that would bind them together as each other's ride or die. With that in mind, these 3 pairings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe would best be embodied by ReiKasa in their own special ways.

1) Thor & Mighty Thor (Jane Foster)

Apart from sharing similar physique - buff and sturdy body frame and roguish facial shape and hair, Reiner embraces Thor's honor, pride and an almost fallen out of grace moment in his life as he goes through a period of lost and searching for himself. Thor finds himself allying with the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to save the remaining humanity from Thanos (which more or less had an almost similar ideal as SnK's big bad, Eren Jeager), same as what Reiner did in SnK's final arc when he allied with the surviving elite members of the Survey Corps.

Meanwhile, Mikasa would embody the Mighty Thor's relentless fight for the greater good even if she knows that by doing so, she would be sacrificing the most important part of herself all for humanity. This resonated so well in SnK's canonverse. Mikasa has a steely resolve to save humanity at all costs, the same way Jane Foster did as the Mighty Thor. If Mjolnir had chosen Jane as the one worthy enough to wield it, the Founder Ymir had chosen Mikasa to be the one who eventually eliminates the Titan curse & liberates her from her 2,000 years worth of inter-dimensional self-imposed imprisonment.

Traits: The couples shares resilience, bravery and impeccable teamwork.

And just imagine, Thor!Reiner holding Stormbreaker standing back to back with MightyThor!Mikasa wielding Mjolnir as the God & Goddess of Thunder?

💯 Fresh & Epic!

2) Iron Fist (Danny Rand) & Colleen Wing

Dubbed as the daughter of the Dragon, Colleen Wing is a martial artist and instructor. Similar to Mikasa, who's of Japanese blood (Hizuru in SnK), both are exceptional blade wielders and hardened fighters. Where Colleen used Chi manipulation, Mikasa was blessed with awakened Ackerman powers that blessed them both with superhuman strength. Both bear a strong character based on discipline, and both prefer to fight their own battles rather than have someone else do the job for them. Mikasa & Colleen uphold a specific code of conduct - loyalty, courage, veracity, compassion, and honor above all else.

Meanwhile, Reiner and Danny, were both blessed with amazing powers from a mythical legend. Both were forced to survive through a rough childhood and intense systematic training as children. Danny inherited the power of the Iron Fist through the heart of K'un-Lun's mythical beast, Shun-Lao the Undying while Reiner inherited the power of the Armored Titan through his predecessor.

Traits: The couples are very in-sync in battles with complementing styles & moves. And yes, exceptional tag team energy.

3) Moon Knight (Marc Spector/Steven Grant) & Scarlet Scarab (Layla El-Faouly)

Marc Spector (Moon Knight) is a character which is well known for his DID, whereas he has 3 identities/alters which draw similarities to Reiner's duality in the series (despite SnK's guidebook stating that it's fictional 'schizophrenia'), where it was shown that Reiner dissociated heavily that he had two sides - Warrior and Soldier. It may not necessarily be a different consciousness but it involved something as equally complex. Both Marc and Reiner's psyche began to split due to a traumatic incident when they were younger and both are/were in military. Where Marc Spector (one of the alters) was chosen as an avatar by the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, Reiner was chosen to wield the Armored, one of the Nine Titans in his universe.

Layla is Marc's (& Stephen) wife who works together with her husband to stop a villain & an ancient deity from unleashing judgment & destruction upon humanity, very similar to Reiner, Mikasa and the Alliance's combined efforts to stop Eren Jeager's the Rumbling through the ancient Founder's will. Layla, (spoiler alert!), is also a chosen avatar by one of the Egyptian Goddess, granting her many abilities including superhuman strength, agility, durability, stamina and reflexes, which are similar to Mikasa's Awakened Ackerman powers.

Traits: The couples have distintinctive battle prowess and deeply care about the other. Despite the challenges and separation, they persevered to protect mankind through the powers that were bestowed upon them.

I am not very familiar with Snk High School comics but I recently saw a comic of Goth Mikasa wanting a Dark Knight figure saving her - I am unfamiliar with context sadly - but what if Reiner Helos becomes her Knight?

Hello luv! I believe you're referring to Isayama's SnK High School Caste AU ❤ Spoiler Alert below!

Our dear Mikasa is a Goth & an occult lover. I have suspicions she might have some experiences dabbling with the dark arts in other words, a witch (she's holding a spell book with an inverted cross) as she could be observed using the Ouija board with Eren & Armin and made contact with a dead character's spirit. She also wanted to find a hex to repel Jean in the AU because she didn't like him always hovering around her.

To Mikasa, as referenced below, her Dark Knight is the everyday guy archetype, Eren, whose only ever did something heroic in his dreams because according to him, his life is boring. She was crushing hard on Eren but Eren was also not reciprocal in this AU orz. (No, the ouija board scene was still very vague to me. Mikasa could have moved the pointer herself 😂) But, I recently came across a very interesting ending theory that ties to this AU here. Well, if that theory comes true, I'd be happy with all the proposed points except the part where Eren would get a second chance at being with Mikasa in this AU. I'd rather that be an open end where anything is possible.

Which brings us to Reiner, the Quarterback and one of the do-gooders group members (who looks more like a group of bullies, led by the Queen Bee, Historia, who's developed an obsession towards Eren 😂) As you can see, even in this AU, Reiner is still a simp omg he deserves more than to be a cuck please. Jock!Reiner and Goth!Mikasa comes from 2 different social levels in the school's hierarchy with Mikasa & co. always getting picked on & targeted by Historia's crew (I'm a sucker for opposites attract & a couple that defy the Status Quo).

Whenever I see this two, it reminds me of no, not High School Musical, but Jenny Han's To All The Boys book/hit Netflix series' characters - Peter Kavinsky, the talented, handsome, dorky but a sweetheart jock & Lara Jean Song Covey, the sweet, loving, beautiful half Asian with a passion for writing/reading classical literature. He's the popular boy who dated the popular girl but ended up falling in love with the down-to-earth girl-next-door. I'm all for this trope! Imagine Goth!Mikasa dressing up in a gothic, dark cheerleader outfit just to support Reiner in one of his matches or when she goes on a vacation in her mother's homeland, Hizuru, she'll get him dorky cartoon socks that he'd put on with full pride because it's from his girl 😍 I was reimagining ReiKasa as LaraJean & Peter from first movie to the third!

Alright, back to the HS Caste AU, we've seen Isayama drew Historia's group ganging up on Eren based on a rumor that Historia made up. However, in the latest (and last fake preview) that was available, we can see Eren getting kidnapped by a cult lead by Zeke (lol) and Armin & Mikasa ended up getting Historia, Ymir and Reiner's help to save Eren.

Look at our dorky boy Reiner 🥲 I love seeing him working together with Mikasa and Armin to save Eren (even when he's doing it for the wrong intention)

Also, it's just Isayama's way of emphasizing strong expressions but I love the way he highlighted both Reiner & Mikasa's sentences in the above panel. It feels like I'm watching them have a quirky, panic discussion that would eventually made them realize that as they work together, they'd started noticing that the other person's pretty cool and cute after all. I hope they'll get to go out on a movie and ice-cream date aftwerwards haha I think Jock!Reiner's the type of guy who won't mind watching Goth!Mikasa's favorite movie, Twilight, together. Don't ever forget The Breakfast Club spoof cover. How endearing would it be if the popular Jock really ends up with the Rebel girl all along? 🤭

Isayama could let Mikasa move on from Eren, and he could reveal Christa was a teenage crush for Reiner that he got over, and let them get closer during final arc but he chose to regress both characters because EM sells only for him to ruin that ship with 8 pages and "romcom".

Hello dear! Thank you so much for taking the time to send in a kind Ask & for sharing your honest thoughts on what could have been. I had my grievances too and have mourned the ending, although at times, I have almost allowed hateful/negative vibes clouded my lenses.

Anonie, there are indeed subtle nuances that could have been expanded more between RK in the final arc from ch.124 onwards. Their brotp was rock solid!

For fifteen chapters, there were a lot of misses on a lot of things, but sadly, as a fan, we can only watch in helplessness as Reiner & Mikasa, being the intellectual property of their creator & the publication corporate that owns them treated them as nothing more than an avenue to bring in more revenue & decided that the published ending in volume 34 was the 'right one'. We don't even know what happened to Reiner after. We can assume he died having lived a fulfilling life. Bet you Isayama is gonna write some whacky trivia in his final guidebook on Reiner like he went to take a dump, slipped, bumped his head on his porcelain throne and died instantly. Reiner was 35. Isayama's suffering a post-series JK Rowling syndrome now he will make things much worst everytime he writes. We're not the only ones who believe that RK are the ones who could have been so amazing together for a lot of reasons.

Those 8 pages & a romcom publication only reminded me that by the end of a series, copyright owners only cared more of the direction that benefits the business side of things. EM has always been a prepubescent juggernaut pairing of the series that was never really meant to take off but needed to bait the majority of its readers. But as the characters grew, their perspectives and principles should too, but unfortunately we did not get to see that. In the end, Mikasa fulfills the 'prized waifu' archetype & Reiner, the undignified simp archetype who's hung up on a fleeting teen crush. The only thing that hasn't happened is him 'imprinting' on Historia's daughter like Jacob did with Bella's daughter in Twilight. Now that would be the final icing on the cake. Even Twilight is a better love story between the leads than SnK now.

Trust me, dear, EM pulls more dough, sadly and profits are more important than giving the characters a more dignified ending. Also, dramas & toxic, unhealthy, passive aggressive, oppressive and imbalanced rships are what the market wants to read more now, not about wholesome, respectful characters+pairings. That is where us broke ff writers come in ;____;

I remain with my personal unpopular opinion that Mikasa and Reiner together would have been a more bittersweet, meaningful & dignified ending for the respective characters without completely discarding most of their growth & development throughout the whole series. RK fans would naturally understands this the most. Isym happens to write his brotps better than his otps, but towards the end realizes he needed that otp to set sail for the publisher's business directive: merchandising, special publications & a possible sequel.

Acting Career

Both are very professional in their acting - they each have serious switch energies. They are both different off-screen and on-screen.

Reiner got his footing in acting as a rising action star. There had even been rumors of him being a stripper when he was in college, which he did not deny, saying that he needed to pay for his degree. In real life, he is the coolest, hilarious and dorky guy ever (He's a party animal!) But when the cams started rolling, he'll switch to the darkest mode needed for his character that it scares the producers at times. Same goes with Eren.

Before Reiner was cast as one of the recurring characters in the SnK series, he's also known as the face of Calvin Klein, Red Bull Energy Drink & Tag Heuer.

Meanwhile Mikasa is a multifaceted & talented actress who began her career as a child actress/commercial models. You could see her extensive filmography as she took on guest roles and recurring characters in older tv serials in the 90s & early 2000s. This woman also made a lot of cameos in the MV of famous rock & pop bands.

Mikasa is already a famous household name before her breakout role as the main actress for SnK The Series. She is the face of Dior, Simone Pérèle & Anna Sui.

After SnK The Series became a global phenomenon, both Reiner & Mikasa were appointed as Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF from the cast of the series.

SnK The Series (SnKTS)

When they were both cast into their respective characters, these two started out as acquaintances/ fellow castmates.

Mikasa was cast at the main three leads. Reiner was a recurring character until he gets a bump into the main roster for the final season.

These two barely have any direct lines with each other, but when they do have direct action/lines together, or just standing next to each other in a frame, fans can feel the intense vibe between these two.

Therefore, from S3 onwards, one can expect Reiner & Mikasa to be travelling together a lot for promos, fan panels & interviews.

Since they are the few actors on set that perform their own stunts, they spend a lot of time together with the stunt choreographer for most of their action scenes. Reiner and Mikasa have an amazing onscreen fight scene chemistry.

Any behind-the-scenes recording or media interviews would see these two playing pranks on each other or just tease each other mercilessly but one can see that they both have a soft spot for each other.

Dating Rumors

They both started noticing each other's endearing qualities since the first table reading for the series' season debut. They become fast, casual friends because they're both fitness enthusiasts & foodies.

These two would usually arrive on set 3 hours early & hit the gyms or do a quick run. After a while they'd usually do them together.

Reiner would be the one who's constantly checking if he might have accidentally hurt her in one of their fight scenes. Off-screen, their chemistry is very apparent amongst the production members but they insisted they're very comfortable friends.

There's a secret betting pool among the writers of the series that these two would end up married by the time the series wraps up.

One of the executive producers even said that if they end up married, he'll gift their firstborn child with his or her own education trust fund.

Reiner & Mikasa both have dating rumors but not with each other because they're so good in keeping things professional. Mikasa has fans speculating a lot, especially when a lot of musicians or sports stars shared that she is their dream date or big time crush. She's been linked to famous DJs & idols while Reiner has been linked to Victoria's Secret models & popstars. All of those were just rumors.

On red carpets of premiere, press tours, fan panels and after party, they're always photographed with a group of other cast members. Eagle-eyed fans would notice the subtle touches, secret whispers and longing looks from one to the other. Reiner would usually wear a tie that matches the color of Mikasa's dress. On-site fans would notice Reiner offering his hand for her to take when she wears heels or fixing her hair or her dress trains.

Levi and Hange, fellow married castmates who also had a secret relationship prior to their wedding, had been the one who's been Reiner & Mikasa's respective wingman/wingwoman. Armin and Annie, who are openly dating each other had been in cahoots in keeping their fellow castmates' relationship on the DL too. Annie had almost spilled the tea in an interview 🙈

These two are so private, they don't post anything about each other on their SM accounts. Reiner always posts about his fitness regime and hiking trips with Jean, Armin, Connie and occasionally Levi. Mikasa would post pictures of her, Hange, Annie, Sasha and Pieck on their vacations or her pictures of her cat, Primrose. But Annie's SM posts have almost exposed Reiner & Mikasa's relationship during one of their group's private getaways in Cabo.

Even the paparazzis were unable to spot them without non-family members or castmates around. But media was able to sniff their possible relationship when pictures of their secret vacation in Italy with their families were leaked online.

Their budding romance is comparable to Rose Leslie & Kit Harington from GOT or Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively. Paps pictures of Mikasa sporting a huge diamond band on her finger has the rumor mills swirling. Some fans have been able to deduce the identity of her mysterious fiancé when she's seen with a fresh tattoo of the monogram letters R and B on the inside of her wrist, while Reiner has been spotted having the letters M and A tattooed on his.

Referencing to this post, prior to their wedding news, the moment Reiner appears on the cover of Men's Health Magazine with his nude pecs on full display, fans are finally able to confirm that he is Mikasa's mysterious husband-to-be based on the tattoos on his chest.

As soon as the news of their upcoming wedding was made official with the release of their official pre-wedding pictures, they legit broke the internet.

These two would spur fans to do a forensic on all past official promo, behind the scenes stills, making of & event images that would make people go, "Holy crap, the signs were all there!" If there's a mag cover caption best to describe the news, it'll be with "Married! When did it all even begin?"

Extremely Private Married Life

They had a closed, private wedding on a cruise ship in the summer. It was attended by fellow cast members and Mikasa & Reiner's other close celebrity friends.

Even after they're married, paps had a huge challenge trying to snap pictures of them together.

During the filming of the final season, Mikasa would be like Gal Gadot, filming her own stunts at 20 weeks of pregnancy. She was very persistent in not using a double. That even made Reiner sat restlessly on the sides whenever the cameras started rolling.

EDIT: The showrunners also decided to inject an indirect fan-service by featuring their characters right next to each other in the Final Season's official poster & key art for merchandise as they've been married & have given birth by the time the Final Season was ready to debut.

After her baby bump got too big and was getting a lot harder to cover, the production crew forced her to use a stunt double for long-shots.

When their twins were born, the new family had an exclusive feature with Harper's Bazaar. All proceeds from the rights purchase went straight to UNICEF.

The Executive Producer had setup the twins' college trust fund the moment the their names were officially announced by UNICEF on their website.

Hello dear, thank you for the Ask! 💖 It really helps me to envision a more ideal post-ending universe because the potential ending right now does not look promising that both of them will somehow survive (together) because I am foreseeing one of them voluntarily dies to save another person. I hope i'm wrong! 😢 I've only done a tiny snippet of ReiKasa in this Post-Rumbling HC AU. But, here's what I envision how it could possibly be IF they survive & they happen:

Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Post-Rumbling AU (Gen) Headcanon #16

Before we delve into Post-Rumbling period, it's interesting to observe the tiny moments where the seeds of trust and possibly, love between these two former enemies turned allies might have possibly begun sprouting.

The Rumbling

We've seen the way Reiner had implied on the plane in ch.133, how Eren might want to be stopped by someone. Reiner was using himself as a pretext; an example. If HE was the one with the FT & somehow finding himself unable to control it, he'd want to be stopped by someone he knows is capable of doing so (someone more powerful & stronger than he is) When he said that sentence, he was gazing at Mikasa.

There are 2 implications here, i) He is indirectly admitting in front of everyone that Mikasa is his weakness, like a failsafe. The one he knows who can take him down if he's the one with this enormous power & he's losing control, ii) Because to him, ever since they were younger, Eren is her family & a sensitive subject to her. Him voicing out his opinion and indirectly hinting that Eren is beyond the path of no return will hurt Mikasa's feelings & emotional state.

During the Paths Intermission, the moment Eren basically told the alliance to go fuck themselves, that he will keep moving forward for his freedom, while the alliance members are free to fight him if that is what they want; Reiner was horrified to know that Eren basically confirmed his deduction & how much pain and devastation Mikasa would be in upon receiving the awful truth from Eren himself. Even after pleading to Eren to let her share the burden of his sins, which as direct as it could have been to "I don't want to be so far from you. I want to be with you through both light & darkness inside of you. Please come back to us." Mikasa still believed that the previous Eren that she knew is still there somewhere, which is no longer the case.

The shock-induced tears in Mikasa's eyes - seeing her in pain, hurts Reiner too. He'd knew how heartbroken she would be.

In Ch.135, when everyone was on the verge of dying as they're losing the battle with the raised forms of past titan shifters, Mikasa reached her breaking point & Reiner felt helpless, because he was at his last limit & Mikasa was planning to make herself the primary target just to buy the rest a little bit more time.

There's this woman who's fighting towards an expected death in front of him - any man would be an idiot for not seeing how foolish yet selfless and brave this last female warrior of Paradis was. She's always been a fearless woman who has their backs and protects their fronts. He has never stopped respecting this woman. This might have been the starting point for that seed to have sprouted inside Reiner.

If Annie's timely rescue never came and they truly met their end there, the only regret Reiner has was he couldn't do anything else but watch this woman's final moments without being able to do anything to support her before his own ensuing end.

When Levi, Jean and Connie all collectively & firmly agrees that killing Eren is the only thing that stands between the world's survival, Reiner was silent the whole time. He believed he has no right to say anything, but he saw the vulnerable look on her face the moment Jean reiterated their ultimatum: "We need to kill Eren."

Reiner did what he does best: he took charge. When Reiner told her, "You go help Armin." He was indirectly telling her, "You do what you can. I will shoulder your burden with Jean. Let me be the strength for you to do what needs to be done." This was Reiner's way of telling her, he will carry her burden for her and shelter her from an unbearable pain. Just like how she told Eren much earlier in Paths. Reiner's indirectly telling Mikasa that she's important to him too.

This was the moment that the seed had sprouted within her heart. She realized that Reiner's communicating to her in the way only she would understand. How much she feels for Eren, Reiner feels for her in the same way because you can't give a reason why you care for or love someone. You just do. It just happened without signs. Annie, however, was able to catch that short but impactful interchange between them.

Post-Rumbling

They barely survive the last stand against Eren's final form but they did with Ymir's divine intervention in Humanity's New Dawn.

Reiner sustains extremely heavy injuries on his physical body. Mikasa is emotionally & psychologically affected by Eren's true death.

The remaining humanity struggles to rebuild from the ashes of destruction. It was beyond devastation. The world is almost completely annihilated but hope is a powerful energy. Hope persists.

Reiner sees her grieving - like a pair of wheels suspended in motion - trapped while the rest of the world moves around her. She refuses to eat, she barely sleeps but when she does, she would toss and turn around restlessly. Annie tells him in passing that when Mikasa sleeps, her body contorts and freezes simultaneously like she's in a lot of pain.

Seeing her drifting through the days like a soulless vessel pains him a lot. No one could humanly survived what she had to go through without serious ramifications towards her emotional and psychological state. Mikasa becomes withdrawn and sullen.

Yet, he retains his distance like he always does & watch silently from the sides as Annie, Armin & Jean tried to reach out to her to no avail. Reiner himself is haunted by his failed attempt to hold the Founder's original form down that, in a way, had forced Mikasa to do what needs to be done. He feels responsible that he couldn't prevent her from having to go through those painful yet pivotal moments of securing humanity's survival. The day the alliance managed to save the world, well, the world that she built for Eren inside her heart was destroyed in return.

One day, she mysteriously disappears without trace. A panicking Armin searches on his own but Annie tells Reiner that Mikasa's missing, nowhere to be found. Reiner and Armin later found her at the crater where Eren's last resting place had been. The exact same location where she had to slay him with her own two blades.

Mikasa says that she just feels lost and empty. Like there's a huge dark void inside her body that she can't escape from. She just sits there amongst the dust and debris, staring blankly at a makeshift, unmarked grave. She confides that she's terrified of falling asleep because she sees Eren's face in her nightmares.

Armin wants to console her but Annie holds him back as she notices Reiner already making his way forward and settles himself next to her. Armin understands what Annie was trying to do.

Reiner only tells Mikasa, "You don't have to do this alone...Lean on us." He offers his hand, despite knowing she wouldn't even touch him. "When you feel that you can no longer breathe, I'll breathe for you. If you feel like you're drifting, I will hold you."

It takes her a while but she accepts his hand and he holds it tight in his. Reassuring her that he is here to stay for as long as she needs him to be.

Little either of them know that it would possibly be forever.

It is Annie who helps to bridge these two together with Armin's help.

Ever since the day they talked, Mikasa slowly finds herself regaining an ounce of strength. Reiner talks a lot to her and offers his silent company as they go for walks together so she does not feel alone.

Reiner makes sure that he'll check in with Mikasa from time to time when he's not supporting the remaining forces with rebuilding, too frequent not to be noticed by everyone close to them in the survivor's settlement. However, none of them questions him about it. It is an understood, unspoken notion that Reiner cares a lot about Mikasa, and her for him eventhough she's being subtle about it. Armin could see Mikasa's eyes lit up whenever Reiner is nearby.

Mikasa shares a living space with Annie and Pieck. When her night terrors get too much that Mikasa thrashes around, screaming in pain despite being in a deep sleep, the two former shifters know that they couldn't possibly restrain the Ackerman girl physically on their own. They called for Armin, Jean and Reiner for help. When Armin and Jean hesitate to hold her down, it is Reiner who holds her tight even when Mikasa's unconsciously trying to struggle against him. They could see Reiner's face holding back his own physical pain from fighting against the immense resistance coming from her. But he'd never released his hold until she eventually wakes up and calms down. He stayed with her until the break of dawn.

After that night, however, Reiner seems to be pulling himself away from Mikasa as he couldn't get over his guilt and his helplessnesss as he also didn't want Mikasa to think that he's trying to take advantage of her vulnerability. The problem is, when he avoids Mikasa, she reverts back to the darkness she's slowly overcoming with Reiner's help and he's becoming miserable himself.

This frustrates Armin, Annie, Jean, Levi and even Pieck because it was fairly obvious to everyone but the two people in question that both Reiner and Mikasa are self-sabotaging and self-punishing themselves from pursuing something more than friendship despite their beating hearts calling out for each other.

Mikasa feels she's betraying her memories of Eren and she's afraid of moving on lest she would forget about him. Reiner feels he has no right to offer Mikasa anything more than friendship because she deserves someone better than him.

Mother's Intuition

Reiner's mother, Karina, finds herself naturally drawn to this young woman who seems to have her son's attention, even when he's trying very hard not to be obvious about it. She catches Reiner staring (longingly, she dare say) at the female warrior of Paradis from afar.

Apart from Mr. Leonhardt's daughter, she too, helps to bring her son and Mikasa closer. Karina has witnessed this woman's bravery and have heard from both Gabi and Reiner of her selflessness when she had saved both her son and her niece's lives. Through Reiner's story, Karina sympathizes with the pain this young woman is going through.

Reiner tells her that he feels helpless that he isn't able to help Mikasa and that she hasn't been eating well. Therefore, Karina brings her homemade meal and visits the young woman, wanting to get to know her better. Mikasa doesn't want to be impolite and relents to having the sudden company.

However, the moment Karina holds her hands to offer her comfort, Mikasa breaks down. She had lost 3 mothers/maternal figures in her life: her own, Carla & Hange. For some odd reason, she feels grateful to have an opportunity to be held by a mother again, even if it wasn't her own.

Karina finds herself growing fond of this young woman and deep inside believes that Mikasa and her son are meant for each other.

It is Karina who advises Reiner to fight for his own happiness and her mother's intuition tells her that his feelings isn't as one-sided as he thinks. Karina urges her son to tell Mikasa how he really feels and after all the years of fighting wars for Marley, Reiner needs to fight one last war: the one within his own heart and to win the heart of the one woman who had conquered his.

However, the relief entourage that arrives from Hizuru, led by Kiyomi Azumabito prevents him from telling Mikasa how he truly feels. He knows that she is destined to become the new empress of Hizuru and that her future would be brighter without him being in her way.

Mikasa tells him of her decision to ascend the imperial throne and Reiner feigns happiness for her decision, reassuring her that she will make a great empress and that she would have a better future there. Mikasa takes Reiner's words as him indirectly telling her to move on with her life without him in it.

Reluctantly, Mikasa leaves for Hizuru. Karina is upset that her son is still sacrificing himself & his own feelings even after being relieved of his Titan powers and its curse.

Karina tells him, "You've lived your life for me and for our family, Reiner. Now it's time for you to live for yourself."

Reiner thinks he's lost the only chance he still has left as Mikasa is already en route to the East Sea country. It is Armin who tells him that the Azumabito's ship is still docked at the nearest harbor because Armin has suspicions that Reiner will change his mind.

When Reiner, Armin, Jean and Annie reach the harbor, the sun is almost setting and Reiner finally revives his dwindling courage to tell her how he truly feels about her and he would like to remain by her side if she'd allow it.

Kiyomi forewarns Reiner that if he is serious about her kin, then he would have to sacrifice his newly-found freedom from being a soldier and titan shifter to become prince consort to their new imperial monarch.

Reiner only says, "I am as good as dead without Mikasa and my freedom means nothing if I'm spending the rest of my life without her."

In the sunset of the New World built from ashes, the two young loves finally seize the courage to pledge their hearts to one another with a kiss; the first of the many in their life together, which is only beginning.

Fic Universe : It's Gotta Be You

Before they conceived the twins 6 months after their wedding, Reiner and Mikasa had a false positive. It wasn't Mikasa who cried. It was Reiner. He really wanted to be a father so badly.

Mikasa was the first to notice that she might be pregnant for real and she took the UPT (10 boxes! Just to be sure because she didn't want Reiner to be devastated again) without telling Reiner. Since she's an MO, she had her OBGYN's support to get an ultrasound during a shift to confirm.

The way Mikasa shares the news of the pregnancy with the daddy-to-be: she gave him a tiny wrapped gift box with a video player of the mp4 of the ultrasound and a message saying, "Hi Daddy, we can't wait to see you in 32 weeks!" They found out they're having twins immediately and Reiner cried, again, when he heard their twins' heartbeats for the first time through the video. Reiner sometimes replay the video on the big screen on the days it got too hard for him at work.

The following month after they conceived, they decided to keep it hush at first. However, Karina and Gabi noticed that Reiner's been having really odd food poisoning symptoms and that he actually threw up during a family dinner because they were having sushi that night.

Turns out Reiner had Couvade Syndrome or Sympathetic Pregnancy. This gentle giant had lost more weight in the first twelve weeks of their pregnancy and his nausea gets triggered when he sees any seafood. He'll need to snuggle up to Mikasa and be babied haha

He'll lie on her lap, facing her growing belly and said, "I'm going to tough it up for you, kiddos. You better let Daddy eat those mean grilled ribs Uncle Niccolo said he'll bring over this weekend."
