Its been a week since you have sene each other.
A week of both of you crying, not sleeping and worst of all, not eating.
Your own father could not recognize his own daughter. He was there for you the whole time and you were thankful for that but you were still angry at him for even trying to set you up with Mycroft.
While you and Sherlock were heartbroken, Mycroft on the other hand was very happy. He knows that soon or later you will be his and your father and him would finally start a business together.
You did not know this but Mycroft was coming over to your fathers house to chat. What you also did not know is that Mycroft brought a red velvet box with him, with your engagement ring being inside of it.
What Mycroft did not know was that a little bird was watching him while he prepared the ring in his study, that little bird would be Enola who would later tell her other older brother,Sherlock, before its too late.
Mycroft gets out of his carriage and sees that your dad is waiting at him at the porch of your house.
“Nice to see you again, Mycroft” your father spoke.
“Well its been a week since I last saw you and your beautiful daughter so I thought why not visit you” Mycroft spoke.
They walked into the house and later on into your fathers study room.
“Before we talk about some business I wanted to show you something.” Mycroft spoke to your father.
“I have brought your daughter a gift and wanted to ask for your permission…”
You father first stared at the ring then Mycroft.
“To take her hand in marriage. I love her deeply.” Mycroft knew himself that it was the biggest lie he has ever told your father but, business is business.
You father was in the disbelief, he did not expect that.
“You know, she is going thru a hard time but maybe you should ask her the question, you have my permission. I want what’s best for her and I think you marrying her would be a great idea.”
While Mycroft was happy that he got your fathers permission to marry you, Enola struggles to get Sherlock out of his bed.
He was very angry at himself for hurting you.
He was not getting very much sleep or eating very much. All he could think about is you.
Your beautiful face, your soft lips that stretch into a beautiful smile whenever you lay your eyes on him and your eyes that he always found beautiful.
While Sherlock was lost in his thoughts, Enola successfully got her brother out of the bed by pushing him and Sherlock falls on the floor.
“Ouch! What was that for?” Sherlock asked his sister
“Well since you did not wanna listen to me, I had to do it the harder way!”
Before Sherlock could even say a word, Enola cut him off
“If you don’t do anything, Mycroft is going to marry Y/N!”
Sherlock’s eyes widen at what Enola just said.
“What do you mean he is going to marry her?” He asked his sister.
“He went to visit her and her father this morning and brought a ring with him!!!”
Sherlock looked at his sister before rushing off to get ready. He needed to fix this.
While getting ready he wondered why Mycroft would marry you. Mycroft had zero interest in you and then it him.
The woman that was flirting with him at the event came with Mycroft and saw her around him few times. He formed the dots and realized that it was Mycroft’s plan all along.
“That son of a bitch!” He mumbled
After getting ready, he rushed down the stairs and ran to your house.
Meanwhile you were getting ready, you heard the voice that sounded too familiar.
Mycroft.
You rolled your eyes. He just loved destroying your life at every chance he got.
You dad knocked on your bedroom door.
“Honey, are you awake?”
You quickly grabbed your robe and put it on before shouting
“Yes father, I am awake! You can come in!”
Right after you said that you see your father entering your bedroom with no other than Mycroft him self.
Your father came up to you and hugged you.
“My only daughter, you have grown into a smart and beautiful woman. I am becoming old and when my time comes there will be no one to take care of you.”
“Father, what are you talking about?” You shed a tear.
“This morning, Mycroft came up with a wonderful request.”
You looked at your father and then Mycroft who was pulling out a red velvet box and was getting on his knee. You stopped breathing at that moment.
“Today is one of the happiest days of my life. Today I came to ask your dear father to take your hand in marriage and to my surprise he agreed. So will you, my beautiful Y/N, be my wife?”
He then opened the box and reveled a beautiful ring with a diamond on it but you knew you could not accept it. Your heart still belong to Sherlock.
Just as you were about to open your mouth, you heard someone running through the door.
“Y/N!!!” Sherlock shouted.
You then ignored your father and Mycroft and ran down stairs.
There he was. He finally came for you.
You ran into his arms and kissed him passionately.
Mycroft was pissed to say at least while your dad was more confused.
“What are you doing here Sherlock?!” Mycroft asked angrily.
Sherlock pulled away from you and looked at his brother.
“I came here to see the love of my life and I also came here to make something clear. Don’t you have anything to tell, Mycroft?”
You and your father stared at Mycroft slightly confused.
“Where is your friend Vanessa by the way, is she destroying other relationships and marriages now?”
You stared at Mycroft and then you too collected the dots. This was one of Mycrofts shitty plans.
“It was one of his many plans. Enola searched your office this morning and found out that it would be easier for you to make money and become businesses partner with her father by simply marrying her. When he passes everything that he would leave for her would be given to you. You found about our relationship and decided to use ur friend, paying her to play my so called “mistress” so that you could end us, but you know what?”
Just then, Sherlock put his arm around your waist and pulled you to his chest.
“Even if you tried it a million times, you would not succeed because my love for her and her love for me is stronger.”
Just then, Mycroft leaves the house, throwing a tantrum outside your house.
Sherlock pulls you close and presses a soft kiss on your lips.
“What now?” You asked him
“Well, do you want to get married. I don’t have a ring with me so I can not really propose you in a traditional way but..”
Sherlock could not finish the sentence since you cut him off with a kiss and said
“Being your life would be the best thing that has ever happened in my life.” You said while pressing your foreheads together.
You then turned around around and saw your father smiling
“I am sorry I wanted to do what’s best for you. And you Sherlock, have my full permission to marry my daughter.”
You and Sherlock looked at each other, smiling before kissing again.
You could not wait to get married….

The love we gave away
Chapter 6
Pairing: Ransom Drysdale x Reader
Word count: 2.5K
Warning: the Thromby/Drysdale family they're a warning all of their own, mentions of drinking, angst, implied past child abuse, idk what else...
A/N: Here we have the long awaited follow up. A new character is introduced, will he be competition for Ransom? 👀 The Thromby/Drysdale family are the worst, at least the adults are. I have made Harlan more of the father figure that Ransom deserved.

Ransom was more annoyed than usual. His family bickered amongst each other over the most mundane things, he couldn’t bear it. Not even with a drink or two of his grandfather’s best  scotch. He should have known better than to come for family dinner on Friday night. Joni was going on and on about some new facial cream or diet or something very vain. Richard and Linda were arguing again. Walt was talking with Harlan about who knows what. Probably trying to persuade him to fire Ransom.
“What are you sulking about now?” Linda’s attention moved from her husband to her son.
“Nothing mother. It’s not like you’d actually care, you never have.”
“Show your mother some respect.” Richard snaps at his son. That gets the attention of everyone in the room.
“Like you do?”
“You know, it’s a good thing you didn’t get stuck raising those little brats with that gold digging whore you had in high school. They’d be little shits just like you.”
His family loved to bring that up. Throw his kids in his face as if they had been a mistake. But he knew that they weren’t. Sure, neither of you were ready to have children at 17 but that didn’t mean that he didn’t love them. And knowing them now Ransom is sure that they are the best part of him.
“You don’t know shit Richard. I sure as hell would have been a better father than you.”
His parents, Walt, Joni and Donna all laugh at him.
“You, a good father? Please, a snake could raise a kid better than you.”
“Eat shit Richard.” Ransom snarls.
It took everything in him not to close the distance between himself and his father and wipe that smug smirk off his face. Ransom knew better than to fall into their little games but after everything that happened at the wedding a week ago. Neither time nor distance have made him feel better. Ransom knows he should have gone after you but the look on your face after he said what he did left him frozen in place. He’s never been good with apologies but he knows he has to make it right with you.
“Watch your mouth before I remind you of your place.” Richard snapped back as he made his way toward Ransom.
“What are you gonna do old man? You think you can put your hands on me like you used to? I’d love it if you gave me a reason to kick your ass.”
“That’s enough.” Harlan speaks up. “If you can’t behave like an adult you can leave.”
“You heard dad, Ransom. Are you leaving or are you staying?”
Ransom glares at his mother.
“I was speaking to you Linda and your husband. You should know better than to provoke him.”
“That is outrageous. You’re going to kick me out of my own home over this pathetic excuse of a son?”
“This isn’t your house, Linda, it’s mine. Out. Everyone and I don’t want to hear excuses.” Harlan says as he gets up to go to his study. “Come with me Ransom.”
Ransom stands and for the first time the whole week he manages to at least smirk, satisfied that everyone is left whining and bitching.
****
“Sit and tell me what happened.” Harlan motions to the chairs next to the table he has a chessboard set up.
Ransom grimaces at the memory of everything that happened at the wedding and his harsh words towards you.
“I fucked up.” Ransom says as he picks up a chess piece and inspects it. Harlan raises an eyebrow at the curse word. “I messed up and probably ruined everything with Y/N.”
“How so?”
Ransom sighs and explains the wonderful weekend you’d had together before the wedding, leaving out the details of sleeping together of course. Then he explains how Bertie had just shown up without warning even though he had broken up with her. Finally Ransom explained the fight you’d had and what he’d said.
“That temper of yours will always get you in trouble.” Harlan finally says but he sends an empathetic look Ransom's way. “So do you want to fix it?”
“Of course I do.”
“Why?”
“Because I have to. I have to do right by Y/N for once in my miserable life and for the kids. They don’t need to be caught up in the mess I created.”
“That’s all? Those are the only reasons?” Harlan says with a knowing smile on his face.
“Yes those are the only reasons.”
Harlan scoffs and shakes his head but doesn’t say anything. He learned a long time ago that it’s easier to let Ransom come to his own realizations instead of throwing them in his face.
“Fine, I still love Y/N. I’m in love with her. These last few weeks and this past weekend reminded me of it.” Ransom was up and pacing the length of the study. When he turned to look back at his grandfather he found a smug smirk on the older man’s lips and he rolled his eyes. “I never stopped loving her but I wasn’t good enough for her then and I’m obviously not good enough for her, for them, now.”
“So then get better.”
“It’s not that simple.”
“Sometimes it is. But you have to start by figuring out what will happen between you and Alberta and apologizing to both of them.”
“Both of them?”
“Yes. Alberta for stringing her along and Y/N for everything else. Sit down and have a real conversation. Lay everything out on the table so that if you start a relationship again that it’s on good terms and not haunted by the mistakes of the past.” Harlan says as he gets up. “And bring me my great grandkids soon. I’d very much like to meet them.”
With that Harlan walks out and leaves Ransom to think on what he should do first.

You walk into Wanda’s home with a bottle of wine in hand. She loved to host small dinner parties. Wanda especially loved to introduce her and her husband’s friends to each other. You weren’t surprised to walk in and see a few people already sitting and chatting but your eyes are pulled to someone in particular across the room.
“I’d recognize that hair anywhere.” You say with a laugh once you’re close enough. “Hi Ari.”
“Y/N?” He turned around and smiled. “Wow what a small world.”
“Small indeed.”
You accept the hug he offers you and chuckle when he lifts you up slightly.
“It’s been so long, you look as beautiful as ever.”
“Me? What about you? You look amazing.” You say as you give him a quick up and down. He had filled in quite nicely. His shoulders were stronger and broader. The jeans he wore accentuated his strong thighs and you were sure that under the button up he wore was a wall of pure muscle.
“Hey, Y/N. I’m glad you made it.” Wanda came up and gave you a side hug. “Do you know Ari? He and Viz are working on a project together.”
“Yes. We actually met a long time ago in Italy.”
“Fun times.”
“Yeah, they were.” You smirked.
“This is great. Do you mind if I borrow Y/N for just a moment?”
“Not at all. I’ll be here.” Ari winks and watches as you walk away.
****
“Oh my god. You know Ari? I invited him to introduce you. This is even better.” Wanda ranted as she held and shook you slightly.
“Wanda, I’m not looking for anything with anyone right now.”
“Because of asshole Ransom? Please, you know the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.”
“Last time I got over Ransom was with Ari. I don’t think it really would be fair for that to happen again.”
“Oh please,” Wanda waved her hand dismissively. “You’ve never truly gotten over Ransom and you’re older now.” She grabs a wine glass and a bottle to serve you a drink.
“Thanks for that.”
“I mean, you’ve learned a lot since you last saw Ari. Things are different now.”
“Wanda I love you with all of my heart and you are one of my closest friends but please don’t meddle.” You grab the glass of wine Wanda had offered and take a sip.
“Fine. Although I’m completely against you not climbing him like a tree. I mean have you seen him?”
“Yes Wanda I saw him.”
“Ok but did you look at him? I mean as a designer anything you put him in he’d look good. Especially your bed.”
“Wanda!” You chastise her as she walks away laughing.
****
The room was starting to get stuffy and overwhelming with drunken chatter so you stepped out onto Wanda’s balcony. The twinkling lights of the city lay below you and you sigh as your thoughts go back to Ransom. The weekend had been so special, like a move in the right direction. Your hurt and jealousy drove you to push his buttons. It should have come as no surprise that he responded the way he did but he had never talked to you like that. Maybe you didn’t know him at all anymore and that broke your heart just a little more. You spent the whole week thinking over what you could have done differently. Maybe if you would have let him explain things would be different.
“Getting all the answers you need over there?” Ari’s voice pulls you from your thoughts.
“What makes you think I need answers?”
You turn to watch as he walks over and leans against the railing.
“Did you forget I met you in Italy? You had the same face back then.”
“Same face I’ve had all my life.” You quip weakly.
“And a beautiful one at that. But I’m talking about the pouty look you have right now. If memory serves me right it was because of a guy that broke your heart.”
You had been looking at the city again when you turned your head and gaze at him. He was right back then and he was right now.
“I’ll take your silence as a yes. What happened, if you don’t mind me asking?” He’s looking at you now, watching for any change in your expression.
“The same guy did the same thing.”
Ari shakes his head and stands up straight. He turns his body completely towards you and leans his hip against the railing. His arms come to sit across his broad chest.
“Give me his name and I’ll kick his ass.”
You chuckle and wave a hand dismissively at him.
“It’s my own fault really. I actually hadn’t seen him since before Italy and we reconnected recently. I thought there were some feelings there but I guess I was wrong.” You shrug your shoulders. “Nothing much too it. And I can’t really just cut him out of my life right now so I’m trying to be prepared for when I see him again.”
Ari just nodded. He watched you intently though.
“I know what will cheer you up.”
“Do tell.”
“A night out with me and some dessert. Why don’t we get out of here?” He stretched his hand out for you to take.
Ari was always an adventure and he always found a way to take you along for the ride.
Tumblr media
You woke up the next day around noon. There was a dull ache behind your eyes and you groaned when you opened them just to be met with sunlight. The night with Ari had been fun but you should have known better than to assume you would get regular dessert. He managed to find a place that sold boozy desserts. That added with your two glasses of wine gave you a hangover. Overall it was a fun night, it reminded you of the summer days in Italy. When Ari would pick you up and you’d run around freely in the city. It also helped to keep your mind off of Ransom.
You drag yourself to the bathroom and once you’re done with your morning routine you grab your phone. Wanda sent you a reminder for a dress you needed to work on and you had a few texts from Ransom, Ari, Abigail and Theadore. You reply to them, except for Ransom and decide to get dressed in order to head into your office to get some much needed work done.
****
You’d been in your office for hours. Most of your time was spent drawing, choosing fabrics, cutting out patterns and then changing things around. The sun had started to set, the last few rays filled your work space with golden light. It only inspired you more. You were so engrossed in your work you didn’t hear the footsteps coming closer.
Ransom stood in the doorway. You looked beautiful bathed in the golden glow of the disappearing sun. His heart ached as he watched you diligently and meticulously pin the fabric together. This was you in your true element. He’d seen it countless times and he’d missed it. After watching you work for a few minutes he knocked, startling you. Your eyes snap up to the door and the smile that was forming on your lips vanishes when you realize that it’s him.
“Hey.” Ransom says cautiously.
“What do you want?”
“I wanted to talk. I messaged you but you didn’t answer.”
“So you decided to drop by instead?” You  step away from the dress you had been working on and cross your arms.
Ransom sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Look, what happened at the wedding-“
“Should have never happened. It’s obvious we weren’t on the same page about what it meant.”
Ransom’s heart was practically thrashing in his chest.
“What did it mean to you?” He walked into the room.
“It doesn’t matter what it meant. The moment is over and we can just continue our lives like before.”
“What about Theodore and Abigail?”
“I can be civil towards you around them if necessary but I think it’s best if we spend time with them separately from now on.” You could barely look at him, it hurt too much. Tears were starting to gather in your eyes.
“No. I don’t want to do that. Fuck, I want to fix this, Thimble. What I said at the wedding? I didn’t mean any of it. I was an asshole and I deserve you being angry at me but don’t give up on us just yet. I want us to be together.” He said as he stepped closer to you only to have you move away from him. “I’m sorry ok. Give me a chance. I promise I won’t fuck this up.”
“I can’t. You’ll just break my heart again and I won’t be able to take it. Not again, not after everything we’ve already been through.”
A heavy tension hung in the air. The only sound was your deep breaths as you tried to hold back your tears. Ransom opened his mouth to say something but decided against it. He knew that if he wanted to convince you he was serious about this relationship he’d have to show you. Instead he turned and started to leave and you felt like your heart was breaking all over again anyways.
“I’m going to make this right.” Ransom promises before leaving.

girl boss III - frustration
When Ransom Drysdale learned that his grandfather was cutting him off the will, he knew life as he knew would disappear. What he didn’t expect was that the only person that would be willing to give him a job was a woman half his age - a woman who despite her youth would come to teach him many things, especially outside the office...
Or the one where Ransom learns he’s a huge sub.
for general warnings, please go to the fic’s masterlist.
Tumblr media
The week that followed was hell to me.
I could barely process what had happened, and so I didn’t want to believe it. I went into work Monday morning fully prepared to pretend that I didn’t desire my boss more than I’d ever desired anyone before, because there was just no way she actually wanted me, right?
Only every time I felt her eyes on me, I knew I was wrong. I could feel her desire, and I knew it was inevitable. I would give into both of our needs, regardless of what my reason wanted me to do.
But for now, I was still fighting back against my emotions, trying to make sense of the little scene we’d lived on the event, how she was able to make me feel so small and vulnerable with so little effort from her part.
I wasn’t used to it. In all of my relationships, sexual or the few times I’d tried to go the romantic route, I’d been in control of everything, from beginning to end. And it had come naturally to me: it was clear that it’s the role that was expected from someone like me, so I never questioned it.
One offer from her and it all came crumbling down.
Did I want what she was offering me? There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted *her, that much was clear for the both of us to see. The question was… did I want her so badly that I was able to do this on *her terms?
In the back of my mind, a little voice whispered, ‘but you want to explore what she’s offering’. It was the truth. I was curious, it was undeniable, but I was still too attached to that expected role I was supposed to fulfill that it was hard for me to admit it.
What if I didn’t like it?
Her words that evening left little space for hesitation: she had no doubt I would enjoy it and I had no doubt on her abilities to *make sure I would, but it only confused me further. How did she know me so well? It felt like she knew me better than I did, and I didn’t enjoy being the one in the dark, particularly when the subject was myself.
To understand it, though, I’d have to ask her. And I wasn’t sure I’d have the courage to do so until *I did it.
“I want you,” I found myself blurting out one evening, after everyone had gone home and she had asked me to stay back so she could review some of the notes I’d made to a manuscript. It wasn’t the first time we’d been alone doing a similar activity, but it was the first time we were completely alone in the building ever since *that evening, and the second she lowered the files in her hands, I knew I’d fallen right into her trap.
So *that’s why she’d been hovering the entire day, leaning over so I was inevitably drawn to the neckline of her shirt. Fuck, she was good. And I bet she *felt good, too “Are you sure?” She questioned after looking me up and down, head tilted to the side and exposing just a little bit more of that delicious neck that I wanted to leave my mark on…
“Fuck yes,” I groaned, eyes widening once I realized I had actually said it out loud. I wasn’t too sure why this felt more embarrassing than my admission of wanting her, but it did.
Perhaps because once I got the message through (the message that would hopefully get me what I wanted), I hadn’t anticipated looking as fucking whipped as most definitely truly was.
But damn it. Who could really blame me? I really, really wanted her to kiss me…
A perfec eyebrow raised up, her expression denouncing her amusement. “Well, if you insist…” I didn’t even have the time to realize I had yet again voiced something I’d expected to be inner dialogue. Because in a quick movement, she was out of her chair and rounding the desk that separated us, settling between my legs before leaning closer and closer and then…
And then our lips were connected. She tasted like cherry lipgloss and I wondered how someone as powerful as her could remind me of a time so innocent, back when I had my first kiss on the school’s playground.
I thought I had everything figured out. I was going to be the king of the world, just like I was the king of break time, leading the boys far away from the girls without them realizing it was because I wanted them to be mine. I was going to be a heartbreaker by the time I reached high school, and then I did and it didn’t feel good.
It just made me feel empty. Girls expected me to know what to do but I wanted to lose myself in them too. I wanted to forget it all for a while, have someone else lead the dance and allow me to ignore my problems, ignore how I found my dad balls deep in someone who wasn’t my mother, ignore how she yelled at me that I should have never been born.
As her tongue swiped my lips open, all of my worries wiped away at the taste of her saliva. It was more than an instinct to let her in: it was a need. My hand went around her head to hold her close but hers reached for my neck, and she *squeezed.
It wasn’t enough to hurt me, but it sent the message across. And it made me so fucking horny. I whined when she pulled away, overwhelmingly aware that her rosy lipcolor was now slathered all over my lower face, knowing my eyes were glossy and my pupils blown.
I used to drink to feel this way. Now, I was praying I’d never have to search for relief in the bottom of a glass again.
She dove in to capture my lips in another kiss, one hundred times more aggressive than the previous one. I felt her weight settle over mine when she climbed onto my lap and my hands fell to the sides as the hand that wasn’t gripping my throat pulled on my hair. I choked in surprise at how fantastic it felt.
She bit down sensuously on my bottom lip when she pulled away, and it felt too fucking hot in that air-conditioned office room. I held her stare as she sized me up, but I couldn’t say it was easy. I didn’t know why, but she intimidated me.
Perhaps it was the fire I could see burning in her eyes. I found myself oddly attracted towards it.
I think I’d like to get burnt.
That kiss wasn’t enough. Even though it had me feeling more alive than I’d felt in months, even though it had my cock straining against my jeans (just from a little dance of lips)- I wanted more.
But my boss didn’t seem too eager to give me what I wanted, only to do what she pleased.
“Has anyone ever told you that you have a very pretty smile?” The reaction was automatic. The edges of my lips quirked up, not being used at all to the silly adjective being applied to me.
When I shook my head, she smirked like the cat that caught the canary, swiftly slipping from my lap to kneel between my legs. “You’re a very pretty boy, aren’t you, honey?” A sound I’d never heard out of my own mouth resonated across the room at her words, paired with the phantom drag of her fingernail over the bulge on my jeans. “Tell me what you want, puppy,” she took mercy on me, but I couldn’t speak. Hypnotized by the mischief in her eyes, she seemed to understand it because slowly, she unzipped my pants, motioning me to raise my hips just enough so she could release my dick.
She didn’t waste any moment before leaning down and licking a line straight up my cock. “You’re so sensitive…” She mocked when I shuddered, fascinated by the way she immediately came back for more, licking and nibbling but never engulfing my member the way I wanted her to.
It felt like she just truly wanted to get acquainted with my taste.
“Tell me, pretty boy…” My breaths were growing heavier, my heart fighting against my ribcage. “Do you want your cock in my mouth?”
The understatement of the century. I tried to nod, too tired from holding back to even utter a word, but that just earned me a disappointed sound from her lips, hummed against the head of my cock.
She sounded unimpressed, and I’d never in my life had wanted to do more for someone else than I did right at that moment.
“Say it,” she ordered, helping me in my helpless state. I don’t think I would have been able to realize what it was that she wanted otherwise. “Say what you want and I might give it to you.”
At that point, I would do anything to have her suck me. I wasn’t too proud to beg - not anymore.
Our eyes met. I knew what I had to do.
“Please, suck me,” I begged. “Please, please, suck me.” The grin that I received in response had my stomach falling down like I was on a roller coaster.
“Okay, I will suck you, honey…” She answered by licking a line up my hard member. “But you don’t get to cum until I say so.” And then she swallowed down half of my length, head bobbing up and down with the motions that were driving me crazy in ecstasy.
It had never felt this good before.
She was patient with the way that she licked me. It was like she was trying to memorize my every reaction, what made me jerk up and moan out loud in desire for her.
I felt close, too close. I was going to cum in a spectacular way, like I’d never came before, but when I let her know, she pulled away. “Rule number one,” she told me, “you can only cum inside my pussy.”
She started to get up and I understood I wouldn’t be going into her pussy that night, but I wasn’t prepared to say goodbye just yet.
“I-I want to taste you too.” She smirked at that, fingers making quick work of her skirt while she left me in the chair and climbed on the desk before us.
“Beg me for it,” she ordered, making me swallow around a dry throat. I wasn’t used to being in this position, but for her, I’d try.
Rubbing my sweaty palms on my thighs, I asked her to let me lick her off as sweetly as I could, only to get a pensive look in her face as a response.
“I don’t think you’re desperate enough.” God, she was so fucking sexy. Inhaling deeply, I prepared myself to try again.
“Please, miss. I am dying to taste you, please.” With a nod, she allowed me to do so, and so I leaned down to lick a stripe up her cunt, and I instantly groaned.
She tasted too fucking sweet. It was everything I had ever wished for, and I was addicted. Gripping her hips eagerly, I leaned down once more and buried myself against that delicious cunt, sucking and licking and swirling my tongue against her little nub.
She held me by the back of my head, forcing me to stay put even despite my rapidly decreasing ability to breathe - but I didn’t mind. I’d die happily if she’d keep giving me those sounds that she released, little breathless whimpers and moans, even a small call of my name.
“Fuck yeah.” Hearing her curse was such a turn on. “Yeah, this is where you belong now, puppy. On your knees for me.”
I moaned against her cunt, and the vibrations were all that were missing for her to reach her high. “Kiss me,” was the first thing she ordered once she had caught her breath, and I didn’t clean myself up before her lips were on mine, licking away the remnants of her own taste.
My eyes struggled to flutter open once she unglued herself from me. I earned a head pat for my efforts, and nothing had ever felt better than that simple gesture.
“It seems that I’m gonna have to train you, pretty boy…” I hadn’t realized it until then, but I’d come all over myself, just by eating her out. But I didn’t have the time to focus on that, because in a second her hand was around my neck, slightly choking me.
“I think I’ll buy you a nice chain… Make sure everyone in the office knows that you’re my little bitch.” I whimpered at the idea, and she smiled, arms closing in on me as she hugged me to herself despite the messy state of my body.
“How are you feeling?” She asked, her fingernails scratching my head and almost making me purr. “Want to take a shower?”
I nodded slowly, sleep suddenly taking over me, but I allowed her to get up and drag me towards the bathroom in her office.
“Can’t wait to take you to bed, puppy.”

Tumblr media
After all the stress you had to endure in the past few months in your office you finally had the long-wanted vacation. Away from the loud noises of New York and over to Italy Lemon Sul Garda for ten days, but first you decided to visit an old friend of yours in New Haven and from there to Boston to fly to Europe.
You checked if you had everything before getting into your care and starting your engine, it wasn’t a too long drive to New Haven. You typed in the route into you navigation to make sure you would drive correctly.
However, you hoped you wouldn’t just stop in the middle of the road. Your car wasn’t the newest and it had a habit of driving you crazy.
The drive started out good until there was a traffic jam causing you to almost park on the highway for two hours until you were near the next exit. Finally driving off you drove and sighed in relief, the navigation quickly switched and led you over a country road where there was nothing but trees and trees.
It was an endless road and always looked the same. Now thanks to the traffic jam it would not take two and a half hours but almost five.
The road got boring, so you put your playlist, the first song that came up was Lay All Your Love On Me by ABBA. A big smile spread on your face, and you started to sing along, rolling down your window letting the warm summer air flow through your hair.
“And I'm possessive, it isn't nice. You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice!” you shouted on the top of your lungs while laughing.
All the stress from the past washed away from you, you felt free for the first time in ages. “But now it isn't true. Now everything is new,” you continued singing along. The road got emptier as time passed, the sun set, and you groaned as you noticed. You planned on getting to New Haven while it was still bright outside.
Now it would be dark when you came to New Haven, and you hated that. Shortly after the fifth song the sun was gone, and the only light were your headlights occasionally a streetlamp.
Suddenly there was a loud sound coming from the hood of your car and you slowed down unintentionally. Your face fell as you car came to a complete stop.
“No, no, no what are you doing? This can’t be happening,” you complained letting your head fall onto the steering wheel with a heavy sigh. You looked up and saw smoke coming from the hood, it made you quickly put on the hazard light and get out of the car.
Opening the hood, a huge cloud of black smoke busted out causing you to cough horribly.
“Fucking shit,” you cursed, it looked awful, and you probably needed someone to tow the car and you would need a taxi or something.
However, to even get a tow truck you needed your phone, getting it out of the car you noticed that you had no signal. Your face changed into confusion, your playlist was just playing so why wouldn’t that work?
Just then your playlist stopped as if it heard your thoughts. You looked around to see if there was anything, in the distance you thought you could make out a house.
You had no other choice but to walk there, it was too late for any car to come by, and it wasn’t like the road was very busy anyway. In the last hour you drove there was not one car coming by.
Walking down the dark, empty street an uneasy feeling climbed up your neck. You may be the only person on this street but that didn’t stop the fear.
After an exhausting fifteen minutes you finally found a house or more like a mansion, it looked beautiful. It was mostly dark, but a few rooms were still illuminated giving you a hint that someone was still awake.
Nervously you walked up to the front door and knocked while fumbling with your fingers.
The door opened and revealed a man with short brown hair, piercing blue eyes in a blue henley and dark jeans, had a broody expression on his face. “Hello?” he asked, confused looking you up and down.
“Hey, my uh car just broke down like fifteen minutes away from here and I’ve got no signal so I couldn’t call anyone. I don’t mean to intrude but uh, can you help me?” you asked softly not quite meeting his gaze.
“Yeah sure, let me just call Ari,” he turned around into the house, “Levinson! There’s a girl who needs help with her car, get ya ass down here,” he shouted making you flinch slightly.
Ari jogged down the stairs, stopped midway as he saw you. You looked gorgeous and so needy. He came back and continued towards you and Bucky, “hey there, I’m Ari nice to meet you,” he gave you a grin extending his right hand to you.
He had lighter hair than the other man but almost the same blue eyes, a full beard and longer hair, broad shoulders overall huge in contrast to the brunette he wore a light blue flannel and shorts.
Taking his hand you told him your name, your voice sounded melodic to both men.
“Let’s go Bucky,” Ari patted Bucky on the back and walked out, sending you a charming smile, “shit it’s rainin’,” he said after coming to a stop to wait for Bucky.
You didn’t even know it was raining, the door was covered. “Do you have an umbrella?” Bucky interrupted and you shook your head slightly. For the first time the brunette gave you a smile, “it’s okay, you can wait inside. Andy will keep you company, don’t worry we will find your car doll,” he promised before turning back once again, “Andy! Look after the pretty girl,” he shouted and followed after Ari.
Right then a man with the same dark hair as Bucky, just a little longer and more styled with a neat full beard walked in, he had a white dress shirt with a loosened necktie paired with dress pants.
Andy had the same reaction like Ari and Bucky, fully blown away by your beauty. Him and Bucky being the oldest in the house made them see a lot over the years but never someone like you. “I'm Andy,” he extended his hand to shake yours, you took his hand saying your name again, “my car just broke down,” you quickly added.
You were taken back by all the handsome men that lived here, you didn’t know how to act.
“Well come in I will make you a cup of tea and you can meet the rest of the guys,” Andy explained as he led you inside the house. Your eyes widened, there were more?
You followed him into the kitchen where you found another brunette, his hair was maybe as long as Andy’s but not as styled and looked like it had more volume. Unlike Andy and Ari he had a clean shaved face, even Bucky had a light stubble meaning it was still a difference to the other three. He had white shirt on with a red jacket on top that suited him perfectly and he was definitely on the hot list. “That's Brandon, but we call him Steve. We have two Steve's so to differentiate them just say Brandon,” Andy enlightened you.
Steve turned around, his reaction no different to Bucky, Ari and Andy. “Well hello, where did you come from?” he asked with a sly smirk. You are at a loss of words, too flabbergasted with the fact that you were in a house with four hot men. “Her car broke down, wanted to give her tea,” thank god Andy jumped in. He moved around the kitchen gathering the ingredients, “what kinda tea you like?” he questioned.
”Uh, I uhm like peppermint,” you said quietly not trusting your voice.
Andy gave you a reassuring smile, he liked your shyness but was also interested in seeing what else there was to you. Steve on the other hand wanted to get you out of yourself, he took your hand and guided you to sit on the kitchen island.
“Where were you headed?” Steve began asking you and leaned himself against the counter next to you. You took a shaky breath,“New Haven and then Boston to Italy.” The man's eyes widened and his lips formed into a grin, “I was in Italy once, a beautiful country.” As you were about to respond two new men walked in.
One had a mustache that looked like he came straight from a porno and shortish hair, he wore an expensive looking polo while the other man had shorter hair than Bucky but the same stubble and wore like Andy a dress shirt and pants. Both looked surprised to see you sitting on the counter.
“Just perfect! Bunny, that's Lloyd with porn stach and Nick with the Andy slash mob boss look,” Steve told you pointing at each one.
Your mouth dropped slightly open, another two men which looked hot as hell.
Before either one of them could say a word Ari and Bucky came back bearing bad news. “I'm sorry doll but that car of yours is gonna take a while, we could get a tow truck tomorrow. Do you have anywhere to be?” Bucky was the one to tell you.
“I wanted to visit my friend but I can cancel, I have this flight to Italy in four days though,” you explained to them. You had no idea what they would do, would they let you stay? You had nowhere else to go. “I think you can stay here, what do you guys think?” Ari asked out loud, stepping forward.
Lloyd as well as Nick were sure they would have no problem with you staying here and the others thought no different. That was when Lloyd remembered something, “we gotta ask Rogers, he will freak out if we don't and Drysdale too or at least tell him.” There were two more?
All of the men nodded, as if on queue there could be heard loud bickering from the next room.
Nick shook his head and walked to the door, opening it he shouted; “get in here assholes we have a meeting. Now,” the bickering stopped and in stepped a blonde man and brunette, both shaved clean and the hair as long as Andy, tall and good build. A wet dream.
“This is Y/n our guest, her car broke down and she needs a place to stay. Doll that's Ransom and Steve.”
So this was the other Steve, you looked from Bucky to the two who looked intrigued like the other seven did. “She can stay,” Ransom instantly said, causing relief to wash over you, thankful you didn't have to sleep in your car. “Yeah it's the right thing to do, we have enough guest bedrooms, I'll show you,” Steve waved at you to follow him. You quickly jumped from the kitchen island to follow him but not before Andy pressed the cup of tea into your hands. Whispering a thank you, you went after Steve.
As you were gone, Lloyd clicked his tongue against his teeth, “we're keeping here right?”
“Yes,” “definitely,” “yep,” “for sure,” “uh huh,” “'course,” all men in the room agreed with Lloyd.
“But I do wanna go to Italy,” Brandon cut in, for a moment everyone looked at him before they nodded their heads and gave their consent again.
“One thing though, do we tell her?” Andy asked, looking around. Some faces looked unsure while others thought they needed to tell you.
“I mean she will find out either way…,” Ransom brought up and got agreement in response. “Well then let's wish her a good night…separately,” groans could be heard as Andy made the announcement and got a pad on the back from Bucky.

Always Meant To Be...
Ransom Drysdale x reader series Part 18/?
Tumblr media
<Part 17<
LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED TO THE TAGLIST!
Warnings: 18+ readers only, swearing, Ransom's family being assholes, Linda being creepy/nice, Walt/Richard being mean to Ransom, reader being called a whore, reader defends Ransom (again)
For the first time in his life, Ransom was excited to share some good news with his family, and it wasn't just because he was looking forward to the chaos that was bound to erupt from it. He was genuinely happy. Happier than any of his family ever have been and it wasn't because of money or being treated like the spoilt rich kid he once loved. It was because he finally had your love.
"Hey," You placed your hand on Ransom's knee as he put the car into park. "You good? You seem, nervous?" You asked.
He nodded. "I guess I kinda am..." He let out a nervous chuckle. "I've never had anything like this to tell them before. I guess, although I know what's going to happen, I'm kinda excited to tell them." He sighed. "Stupid, right?"
You shook your head. "No, Ran, it's not." You smiled at him. "They're your family and telling them should be an exciting moment... If they were normal."
The pair of you chuckled.
"At least, Harlan, will be happy." Ransom smiled as he laced his fingers with yours.
"Yeah. And, I'm sure, Wanetta, will be." You smiled back at him before leaning over and kissing him.
Ransom nodded and let out heavy sigh. "C'mon, lets get this over with, shall we?"
The two of you got out of his beamer and walked around to the front where Ransom took a hold of your hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it making you roll your eyes as you blushed. You walked up to the front door but before you opened it, Ransom stopped. He reached up and held the back of your head as he crashed his lips against yours.
You wrapped your arm around his waist as you gladly let his tongue assault yours, moaning into his mouth.
The door suddenly open and Linda stood their with a scowl. "You're starting to look like one another." She said as she looked you both up and down.
You looked down at your clothes and chuckled, you hadn't even realised toud put a sweater on similar to what Ransom was wearing.
"Good job we're both fucking hot then." Ransom smirk as he pushed past his mother and entered the house pulling you close behind him.
"Your grandfather says you've got something to tell us. What is it?" Linda asked as Ransom helped you take your coat off.
Ransom rolled his eyes and pulled his own cost off. "Can't you wait five minutes? Fuck, I need a drink." He pressed a kiss to your cheek before going off into the kitchen.
You looked at Linda as she silently stared at you, "I'm not apologizing." You said firmly.
Linda's brow furrowed, "For what?"
"For the other day." You said turning to face her.
"Oh, the cunt thing." She raised her eyebrow at you with a smirk, creeping you out a little.
You nodded.
"Sweetie, I wouldn't expect you to..."
You frowned at her, trying not to throw up in your mouth. Sweetie? "Excuse me?"
"You have some balls, speaking to me the way you did. There's not many people whom get away with it." She said as she stepped closer to you. "And there's not many people who defend my son like you do. Nor care about him. And there's no one who loves him like you, either. That's why I'm fine with how you spoke to me, Y/N. You put me in my place and it showed me how you really feel about him."
You gulped and nodded. "He didn't deserve to be spoken to like that."
Linda sighed. "I know you probably think I don't love my son, but I do. I'm terrible at showing it. I hate showing it, makes people weak... But I see with you and Ransom, it only makes you stronger... I've never seen Ransom love anyone the way he loves you." She turned with a smile and left you alone in the hallway stunned.
You don't think you'd ever seen Linda smile. You didn't think she could with how much work she'd had done.
Ransom walked out of the kitchen and stopped in his tracks, not expecting to find you stood where he left you. "Beautiful?" He walked up to you and handed you your drink. His eyebrows shot up as you effortlessly knocked your drink back in one. "What's wrong?"
You shook your head and looked up at him. "Your mother... smiled."
Ransom's brow furrowed, "Did her face crack?"
You shook your head and took his drink from him, downing that too. "She-" You shook your head. "Was nice to me." You shivered.
Ransom began laughing, "Don't be ridiculous. Mother doesn't do nice." Ransom wrapped his arm around your shoulders and kissed your forehead. "I'll get another drink, why don't you go on-"
"Hell no. I'm staying with you. What I just witnessed was creepy as shit." You quickly walked off towards the kitchen.
Ransom rolled his eyes with a chuckle and followed behind you. "What did she say? Maybe you misunderstood."
You shook your head as you walked into the kitchen saying a quick hello to Fran before you leant against the counter. "I didn't misunderstand, Ransom. Linda, said she didn't expect me to apologise for what I said to her."
"What? Are you sure?" Ransom frowned at you. "I can't imagine that. You basically called her a cunt."
Fran almost burst out laughing, quickly covering it up as a cough and apologising.
You chuckled, "She said, Sweetie, I wouldn't expect you too..." You held your hands out with your eyes open wide. "Creepy right?"
Ransom nodded. "That's pretty weird."
"Oh, that's not all she said. Apparently she thinks I have some balls for talking to her the way I did. And that, she could tell that I really cared about you and loved you, because I wasn't afraid to put her in her place... Then she said something like, I love my son, but I don't show it because I hate showing it, it makes people weak... But I see it only makes you stronger..."
Ransom's eyes widened. "Maybe she's drunk."
You shrugged, "Whatever, as long as she doesn't call me sweetie again." You shivered make making Fran chuckle.
"Maybe our news will turn her into a bitch again." Ransom smiled at you reassuringly.
"News? Are you two expecting?" Fran gave you a hopeful smile.
Your eyes widened a little. "Uh, no, Fran. Not that kind of news."
"I asked, Y/N, to move in with me." Ransom explained.
Fran smiled back, "Oh, wonderful. Congratulations." She then let out a soft sigh. "Although, it would be nice if you were having a baby too... I think you'd have cute children."
Ransom nodded, "Yeah, me too."
You turned to Ransom shocked. "You do?"
"Of course. We're hot." He shrugged. "Our kids would be super cute."
"Kids?" You raised your eyebrow. "Like two?"
Ransom nodded. "Or more. Whatever."
Your eyebrows shot up as you looked at Fran.
"You've thought about having children, Hugh?" She asked sounding equally as surprised as you.
Ransom frowned at her, "That's none of your business." He snapped at her defensively making her jump. Ransom grabbed his drink and stormed out of the kitchen with a huff.
You let out a soft breath and looked at Fran. "Don't pay him any attention, Fran."
She shook her head. "I didn't mean to anger him. I was surprised to hear him talk about children, that's all."
You nodded. "Me too."
"You haven't spoken about them?"
You shook your head. "I've always assumed, Ransom, wouldn't want them."
"I think perhaps it's time you have this conversation with him, Y/N." Fran offered you a warm smile and a pat on the arm.
You thanked her and grabbed your own drink, leaving the kitchen and making your way to the lounge where everyone else already seemed to be bickering.
"Nice of you to finally join us." Walt huffed from where he sat.
You rolled your eyes and walked over to Harlan. "Hey." You smiled at him as he stood.
He cupped your face in his hands and smiled. "It's good to see you, kid. How are you?" He kissed your cheek before hugging you.
You gulped, feeling a lump form in your throat as you hugged him back. "Better, thank you. How are things going?" You asked looking at him.
Harlan nodded. "Fine. We'll talk later." He smiled. "Now, what's this news you and my grandson have to share with us?"
You smiled and sat down beside Ransom, letting him pull you into his side. You looked up at him and nodded. "You tell them."
"Oh God, you're pregnant, aren't you?" Joni gasped dramatically. "I thought you looked a little puffy."
Your mouth fell open in shock. "What the fuck?"
"Mind your language." Donna scowled at you as she covered Jacob's ears making you and Ransom roll your eyes.
"Jesus... Just what we need, another little shit." Walt huffed.
"Language, Walt." You mocked Donna making Marta snicker into her hand.
"Ransom." Richard said sternly as he stood in front of him.
"Father." Ransom looked up at Richard seriously making you chuckle.
Richard shook his head as he placed his hands on his hips, "You can't have a child, Ransom. You're just... not good enough." Richard sighed.
Your brow furrowed. "Excuse me?"
"He's right. You're a shitty person. How can you raise a child? You can barely wipe your own ass." Walt laughed.
"Oh, and the two of you are the world's greatest fathers." You scoffed. "Ransom, isn't a shitty person, asswipe," You glared at Walt. "And he will make a great father because he learnt from the pair of you what makes a shit father. He wouldn't be a fucking asshole to his children nor would he try to ruin his child's happiness to make money."
Ransom smiled at you before pressing a kiss to your forehead. "You're too sweet, beautiful." He whispered making you blush.
"Ransom, is it true, you're going to be a father?" Harlan asked with a hopeful look in his eye.
As you looked at Harlan you began to feel guilty.
Ransom shook his head with a sigh. "It's not that sort of news, grandpa." Ransom cleared his throat. "I asked, Y/N, to move in with me." He smiled to himself. "We're going to be buying a place together."
Harlan began grinning. "Well that's equally as wonderful news. The right place for you two to be taking your relationship."
You nodded. "Glad you think so, Harlan."
"Oh for heavens sake." Walt huffed as he stood up. "You can't be serious, dad. Can't you see what's she doing?"
Harlan sighed as you and Ransom glared at Walt. "No, but I'm sure you're going to tell me what I'm not seeing."
"She's clearly a gold digging whore. Wasn't she fired from her job? How exactly is she going to afford buying a new house, hmm?" Walt glared at you.
"She wasn't fired, shit head, she quit." Ransom defended you.
"And not that it's any of your business, but I have a thing called savings." You stuck your tongue out at him.
"And I assume you'll be selling your apartment?" Harlan asked.
You nodded. "Yep. And I'm working on getting a new job."
"Any ideas what you want to do, yet?" Harlan asked trying to change the subject.
You let out a heavy sigh as you shook your head. "I want to do something different but I'm just not sure what."
"I told you, beautiful, let me take care of you. I make enough money. You don't need to work." He wiggled his eyebrows at you suggestively.
You covered your mouth as you laughed at him and your inside joke. A few days ago Ransom 'jokingly' suggested being your sugardaddy instead of you finding a new job. As appealing as it sounds to be spoilt all the time in return for certain sexual favors, you wanted a job. You knew Ransom would spoil you anyway and get the sexual favors he wanted regardless. You couldn't say no and why would you want to.
"Ah ha!" Walt pointed at you. "See! She's just a who-"
"Oh shut the fuck up, Walt!" Linda shouted as she stood up. "And you!" She snapped at Donna before she could sqwark about using bad language in front of her son.
"Linda-"
"No! Shut it!" She got close to Walt and jabbed him in the chest. "I've had a fucking 'nough of the same old bullshit. You complain and whine that, Ransom, is lazy and needs to grow up and start thinking of others. And when he's clearly started doing what you've been screaming about for years, you fucking complain!" Linda glared at Walt. "It ends, now."
Walt stared up at Linda in shock, his mouth opening and closing like a goldfish.
Richard cleared his throat as he approached his wife. "Linda-"
"That goes for you, too. Can't you see for once our son is actually a joy to be around." Linda glared him.
Richard scoffed, "All he ever says is eat shit and throws insults at us."
"Maybe if you weren't all such assholes to him from the moment he walks into the room." You muttered into your glass.
"Nobody asked you." Richard hissed at you.
"That's enough!" Harlan stood up from his chair with Martha's help. "Yes, Ransom, has made some questionable decisions in his life, but haven't we all. And the positive thing to take from it is that he's making changes to be a better man. Changes that make me proud of him. Changed that make me excited to see what his future holds for him." Harlan smiled proudly at Ransom. "Now,  let's go eat."
As you stood to follow everyone out to the dining room, Ransom pulled back down onto his lap.
He crashed his lips against yours hungrily as he held the back of your hand in one hand and forced his tongue into your mouth. You moaned into his mouth as your fingers tangled in his sweater.
He pulled back with a satisfied hum, "Have I told you I love you?" He smiled.
You nodded with a soft giggle. "One or twice."
"I should tell you more then." He kissed you again but this time slower.
You wrapped your arms around his neck as you got lost in the kiss.
"RANSOM!" Linda shouted from the doorway making the two of you jump. "Can you not fuck on couch. Christ!"

The Poor Way Pt. 2
Pairing : Ransom Drysdale x Street Racer!Reader
Warning: mentioning stealing and illegal activities
Ransom had an audacious plan forming in his mind as he stood there, his smug smirk undeterred by Bolt's annoyance. Her reputation as a legendary street racer intrigued him, and he was determined to experience the thrill that had eluded him for so long.
Bolt, on the other hand, was not impressed by Ransom's proposal. Her world was built on speed, skill, and adrenaline, not on privileged whims. She glanced at her Toyota 86, contemplating her options. Could teaching this rich, impulsive guy the art of street racing be worth her time?
Ransom noticed her hesitation and decided to sweeten the deal.
"Listen," he began, his tone more persuasive,
“I can make it worth your while. I've got resources, connections, and, most importantly, money. You help me become a street racer, and I'll pay you a hefty check”
Bolt crossed her arms, still skeptical.
"Money won't buy you the skills you need to race," she retorted "Pursuing illegal activities isn't a walk in the park. It requires dedication, practice, and constant alertness against the risks of getting caught, all while trying to outwit authority."
Ransom, undeterred, leaned in closer. "I may not have the skills yet, but I have something you might find valuable – a challenge. If you can turn me into a formidable street racer, it'll be a testament to your expertise.” he says with a smug look
Bolt raised an eyebrow, her irritation giving way to a hint of curiosity. She had always loved a challenge, and teaching a rich playboy the secrets of the street could be the ultimate test of her abilities.
"Fine," she conceded, her expression softening slightly. "I'll teach you, but only if you're serious about this. Don't act like a snob, just follow my lead."
Ransom nodded eagerly. "Deal”
As they sealed their agreement, Ransom couldn't help but remembered vividly how Bolt had hijacked his car just two months ago, a fact he hadn't shared yet.
Bolt noticed the mischievous expression on Ransom's face and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "What's going through that head of yours now?" she asked.
Ransom hesitated for a moment before deciding to come clean. "That Beamer you saw me driving earlier? You hijacked it two months ago."
Bolt's expression shifted from surprise to a defensive stance. She crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing as she faced Ransom. "So, you knew it was your car all along, and you still approached me?"
Ransom nodded, still grinning, but his tone had nothing but exitment. "Yeah, I did. But it got me thinking. I want to commit Grand theft”
“No” she says with no hesitation
“Oh come on! I want to commit to doing it the unethical way possible” he says practically on his knee begging
Bolt sighed, realizing that Ransom was genuinely excited about the idea of car part theft.
“Fine," she relented, but her tone was measured.
“But remember, this isn't just about grabbing parts. It's about knowing which parts to take and how to use them. It's a strategy, not just theft."
Ransom nodded enthusiastically, fully embracing the challenge.
“I get it, Bolt. So, who do you think I should target first?"
Bolt smirked, her competitive spirit rekindled. "Tell me, Ransom, who do you hate the most in this town? That's where we start."

“Oh Georgie, it’s okay-” Ransom soothes as he crouches down beside the little girl, his heart breaking a bit in his chest at the sight of her wide bambi eyes overflowing with tears. “It was just an accident, sweetheart. It’s alright. Here,” he murmurs, collecting the child’s toy from her hands into his own as she struggles to swallow down her sobs.
“D-didn’ mean to,” the girl whimpers as she eyes her prized Sheepy, whose tummy is now covered in sticky strawberry jam.
“I know you didn’t, sweetie. It’s okay, we’re gonna get Sheepy all washed up and he’ll be good as new, yeah? Just gotta toss him in the washer real fast; he’ll be done and dry by bedtime tonight.” Nodding with wide eyes, little Georgia follows her father as he takes her hand, guiding her to the washing machine in the closet next to the main-floor washroom.
“Here we go, Georgie. Look, I’ve got a nice little bag he can sit in so he’s all safe in the machine, okay?” Ransom shows the child as he crouches down once more, letting her help him place the beloved toy in the delicates bag before zipping it up. “And we’ll put plenty of those detergent beads you like so much in there, the ones that smell like sugar cookies, remember?” Georgia nods as she watches her daddy toss the bag and the beads in the bottom machine, her eyes widening as it roars to life after the pressing of a few buttons. “It’s okay, sweetheart. He’s just getting a nice bath in there,” the man reassures her as he brushes her puffy hair back away from her face, hating the sight of her so upset.
“Oh- and you know what? I think I know someone else who could keep you company 'til Sheepy’s cycles are done.” Taking the little girl’s hand once more, he leads her up to his bedroom, going into his large closet to retrieve one of the many cardboard boxes stacked along the top shelves beneath the ceiling.
Bringing the box back down to place on the floor in front of Georgia, Ransom opens it up, pulling out an old worn stuffed animal of his own, something he hasn’t taken out since it was stuffed away so long ago at the end of his childhood. “Georgia, meet Lamby.”
With wide eyes, the girl accepts the small animal in her hands, her eyes drying up as she sniffles away the last of her tears. “Lamby,” she repeats, her gaze trailing carefully over the light-grey fabric.
“That’s right, he’s a little guy just like your Sheepy. Seems like maybe I was a lot like you when I was little,” Ransom chuckles as he takes in the wonderful sight of his daughter holding his life-long best friend. Wrapping the lamb up in her arms, Georgia gives him a big hug, nestling her nose against the toy’s fluff.
“Smells like Daddy,” she hums softly, her eyes getting a little droopy as she clings to the stuffie.
“Yeah? I bet he does, we spent many nights snuggled up for bedtime. Many naps, too. And speaking of, looks like it’s just about time for yours, little lady,” Ransom smiles gently as he scoops the small girl up along with the stuffed animal, his heart swelling in his chest as she snuggles up into his shoulder. “By the time you get up, Sheepy will be switched into the dryer.”
“Can’t wait for him to meet Lamby,” Georgia mumbles as she tucks her thumb in her mouth, struggling to blink to keep herself away. “Gonna be bes’ friends. Daddy, Lamby, Sheepy, 'n me.”

Chapter One: How We Started
I take a breath looking up at the building in front of me, Ryder Springs Private Academy. I worked my ass off to ensure I could attend this school and not one of the public schools. It feels good to see the fruits of my labor. This school is my ticket to the start of a better life; I'll make every minute count.
I tighten my grip on my backpack, straighten the skirt of my uniform, and head inside. I hold back my awe at the grandiose entryway. There's a big, plush, red carpet lining the hallway and a staircase to one side. Everything looks expensive and fancy—definitely something I need to get used to.
Some students walk the halls, all wearing the same uniform as I am. Black flats with stockings, a deep blue skirt that goes to the knees, a white blouse, and a tie with the school's crest on it for the girls. Black dress shoes, deep blue pants, a white dress shirt, and the same tie for the boys.
“Hey!” I jump a little as a loud, high-pitched voice breaks me out of my gawking state. Turning, I see a girl my age with dark skin, dreads falling from her head, and a braces-filled smile on her face. “You're the new girl, right? My name is Rio. I'm part of the welcoming committee.” She cheerfully holds her hand out to me.
This girl exudes bubbly happiness. It's nearly overwhelming. How can someone be this happy in high school?
“Yeah, that's me. My name is Orianna.” I shake her hand with a small smile of my own.
“Your name is so pretty! How did your parents think of that?” Rio gushes.
“My mom told me I'm named after my great-grandmother. Your name is pretty too. How did you get yours?” I hum, toying with my backpack strap.
“I was born in Rio; my parents aren't very creative.” Rio laughs. “So, since it's your first day, I was tasked with showing you around and getting you settled before your homeroom begins. Do you have your schedule?”
“Oh, yeah, I do.” I pull the schedule out of my pocket; I was so happy when I saw the skirt had pockets.
I hold it out to her, and she reads it for a moment. “Oh, awesome! We have 6th-period lunch together. Wanna eat with me then?”
“Sure! That sounds great!” I nod with a grin. I know she's just being nice since she's part of the welcoming committee, but maybe I could get to know her and become friends.
“Wonderful! I'll guide you to your locker, then show you around.” Rio hooks her elbow in mine, and we head off into the school.
During my tour, I got to know Rio more; she loves animals and science and hopes to go into conservation. The complete opposite of myself, who loves to write, read, and hopes to become an editor. Rio's parents are prominent advocates against deforestation. They are often in other countries working to replant the forests that have been taken down over the years—leaving her to live with her Grandmother most of the time here in Boston. We had to part ways when the bell rang; after that, it was like any other school day.
Any other school day if you add in stuck-up private school kids. When I got to homeroom, I chose a seat near the front. I hum as I pull out my notebooks and pens, ignoring all the desks with laptops on them surrounding me. I begin writing little notes when I feel someone jabbing at my shoulder. Turning around, I spot a girl with black hair and jade eyes slyly grinning at me, her eyes roaming over my uniform for a moment.
“Yes?” I raise a brow when she doesn’t say anything after a moment.
“Aren’t you the girl that got in on the Thrombey writing scholarship?” The girl asks, fiddling with one of those stupidly gaudy pens with a pom-pom on top.
“Yeah, and?” I prompt again, wondering where this is going. I don’t like the way she’s looking at me. Like she’s trying to find my insecurities to tear out, it seems like I met my first private school prep.
“Must be embarrassing, having to come here with just the money from some rich old guy. How did you manage to land that? You sleep with him?” The girl grins conspicuously at me and leans closer. My jaw drops, and my face twists into that disgust. Other girls around her lean close, and I realize what’s happening.
These absolute bitches.
After taking a moment to compose myself, I give them my grin and lean forward. “You really wanna know?” I murmur as quietly as I can. They all eagerly nod, especially the main bitch that started this.
“It’s called dedication and hard work. Something you assholes will never learn. Because you’re nothing but spoiled bitches that will get everything handed to you until the day you die. Now, I suggest you leave me alone before I show you what someone of ‘my standing’ is willing to do to protect myself.” I blow them all a kiss, and the girl’s expressions change to horror or hatred.
The head bitch goes to bark something back, but I turn around and ignore her. Girls like that aren’t worth my time. Soon the teacher walks in and begins class on economics. Despite his presence, I still hear the girls whispering to get my attention.
“Scholarship. Hey, Scholarship. Scholarship!”
Those girls weren’t the only ones to cause me problems and call me that name throughout the day. It’s like they all somehow immediately knew who I am, my status, everything. I must be the only one here on scholarship. That has to be the reason. It was all so annoying, and I had to keep myself in check on more than one occasion. I don’t want to make any more enemies today. I don’t think I could handle any more drama.
I let out a little sigh as I walked into the school's dining hall. Lunch tables scatter the area, most of them already packed. Thankfully I don't hear all the chatter thanks to my earbuds blaring a true crime podcast into my ears instead. I move to the lunch line, going through the motions of grabbing food. Today it's mac n cheese, fruit, and juice. Honestly, I was expecting something a little fancier from this place, but I'm not complaining. A good, hot meal without me having to cook? I'll take it.
I glance around before finally seeing Rio waving frantically, trying to catch my attention. I laugh at her dramatics and make my way over. I focus on my podcast as I walk, ‘...the body was found at the bottom of the steps of the man stalking her for days prior.’
I get entrapped in the story, almost to the table, when someone suddenly backs up right in front of me.
“Shit!” I gasp. I attempt to catch myself as my feet hit their ankles, but it's too late.
My precious mac' n cheese goes right on the person's shirt. They shout something incoherent as I land flat on my face. My head spins a bit from the impact on the floor; carefully, I reach up to check if I broke the skin on my forehead. When I don't feel the blood stickiness, I sigh in relief, only to pause when the laughter begins. The flush of embarrassment immediately makes its way to my cheeks. It's just my luck that I made a fool of myself on the first day.
“Clumsy little bitch.” I hear the person I dumped my food on growl. I scowl at their words and manage to push myself up to my knees. I go to bark back my insult but stop short.
Holy shit, the guy is hot. He glares down at me with icy blue eyes. His dirty blonde hair pushed back on his head. His tie is undone, and a couple of his shirt buttons give the classic 'schools rebel' vibe. Lowering my eyes slightly, I cringe at the enormous yellow stain on his shirt from where my food landed.
He suddenly smirks at me; shit, how long have I been staring at him? “Hit your head too hard? Or are you just checking me out?”
I flush at his words but quickly glare, remembering what he called me. “You fucking wish. Why don't you watch where you're going next time?” I feel a hand on my arm and smile, seeing Rio helping me to my feet.
“I should be saying that to you, scholarship. You ruined my shirt; it probably costs more than whatever hole you live in.” The guy bites out with venom dripping in his tone.
I grunt hearing that little nickname. This guy isn't the first person to have called me that today. I'm tired of being looked down on for getting a little help.
“Do I look like I give a fuck? No. I'm sure your ass can afford to get a new one.” I bare my teeth at him, showing him I won't back down or be ridiculed.
“Ransom, just leave her alone, okay? It wasn't even her fault. Your friend pushed you into her.” Rio murmurs, looking everywhere but him. Does this guy make her nervous? Yeah, he's bigger than the two of us, but he's not scary in the slightest, at least not to me. It takes a lot to scare me.
“My fault, huh? You're really brave to accuse me like that, loner freak.” Ransom shoots his glare over to Rio.
I step in front of Rio, blocking her from his view. “She's not accusing you. She's stating what she saw. Look, I'm sorry for ruining your precious shirt. Now can we move along and get back to lunch? I'm personally rather hungry, and we're losing precious minutes of our free time by arguing over something stupid.”
“Awe, you're hungry, scholarship? Are you so poor that you're not getting enough food at home? Poor thing.” Ransom cooes in a false, overly sweet tone. I roll my eyes, refusing to take his bait, and argue back at him. He chuckles when I say nothing, “Fine, I'll let you run off and finish your lunch, but this isn't over. I want compensation for my shirt.” He wiggles his fingers at me as he struts off with his laughing buddies, “see you later, Scholarship.” I stand there, glaring daggers into his back as Rio tries to pull me away from the scene.
“Orianna, this isn't good. He's the school's trouble kid.” She murmurs when we get over to the table she was sitting at earlier.
“And? I'm not going to let his reputation scare me. He seems to be all bark and no bite.” I scoff. I've met his type a hundred times over. They all think they're big shit until someone pushes back.
“Ori, he's known for getting girls and guys alike to bend at his will. He knows how to manipulate and get his way. I've seen it happen...” Rio looks down with sadness clouding her eyes.
My concern immediately grows, “Rio, did he do something to you?”
Rio immediately shakes her head, “Not me, my ex-girlfriend. He liked her for a while, but she refused him in front of many people and then dated me. I don't know how Ransom did it, but he convinced her to break up with me and get with him. Then he broke up with her in front of the whole school during one of the assemblies. She was so humiliated she moved schools.”
“What a fucking horrible thing to do,” I shake my head a bit. People are horrible. Who would go through all that trouble just to make someone hurt? “Don't worry, I won't let him get to me. Believe me. I've dealt with some fucked up people in my time. I think I can handle a pretentious shitwad like him.”
Rio sends me a small smile, “I hope you're right, Orianna; you seem so nice. You don't deserve to be hurt by him.”
“Thanks, Rio.” I give her a soft smile, and she offers me half her tuna sandwich since I lost my lunch. I grin and happily eat with my new friend.
Tumblr media
By the end of the day, I'm feeling the first day of school wear out. If today is just a glimpse of what the year will bring for me, I'm so screwed. Thankfully, I'm a junior, so I only have to deal with this hell for two years instead of four. Then it's off to the bliss of a college education with mature adults, not children like these assholes.
I shut my locker and head out of school, thinking about everything I would need to grab at the market for dinner. I fumble with my bike lock for a moment when I hear the voice from earlier that makes me want to grind my teeth.
“Scholarship!” Ransom yells as he walks over, his friends all laughing a few feet away.
“Hell no, not today,” I mutter under my breath and quickly put in the combination. Quickly tossing on my helmet, I swing my leg over my bike, only for Ransom to grab the handlebar at the last moment.
“Where are you going? Didn't you hear me calling for you?” He frowns down at me, and I roll my eyes.
“Oh, no, I heard. I'm just choosing to ignore you, now hands-off.” I swat at Ransom's hands, and his frown morphs into a scowl.
“You might want to be a little nicer to me, scholarship. I did some digging and saw you got in here purely on the Harlan Thrombey young writers award.” Ransom's scowl turns into a sadistic smirk.
My stomach turns at the sight, but I push away my unease. “And? What about it?” I glance at my watch and wince, “look, can we hurry this up? I got places to be.”
“Well, here's the deal, scholarship.” Ransom lets go of my bike and steps away from me, confidence coming from every pore on him. “Harlan Thrombey is my grandfather.”
“Congratulations?” I stare at him, confused, as I ready myself to ride off again.
Ransom scoffs at me, “Do you know what that means? It means I could have him pull your funding if I wanted to. So, you have to do what I say and when I say it.”
I snicker under my breath, attempting to control the laughter bubbling inside me. Is this asshole serious? He's hilarious! The dam breaks, and I burst into laughter, clutching my stomach.
“What's so funny?! Don't you realize the mess you're in?!” Ransom demands, looking at me incredulously.
“What mess? I'm not scared. I earned that scholarship by proving my worth and hard work. If your grandpa is dumb enough to listen to you and pull my funding, so be it. I'll find somewhere else to go or work my ass off in the public school. I don't have to do shit for you!” I push off on my bike and start heading to the market.
“You still owe me compensation for my shirt!” Ransom yells at me as I ride off.
“MHM, SURE!” I flip him the bird and continue, not even bothering to listen to whatever intelligent come back he thinks off. The spoiled little rich boy really thought he had me cornered. I'm a lot smarter than that, though. A lot smarter than him too.

Today was your doctor's appointment.
Ransom was nervous to say at least. He said that he did not care about the gender and that he was happy as long as the baby was healthy, but deep down you knew he wanted a boy.
That was one of the first things he told you about when you decided to start trying for a baby, but he also told you that he would be happy if the baby turned out to be a girl.
The baby is not even born, yet Ransom decided to buy matching sweaters. You did not know how but he found the exact copy of his favorite sweater for the baby. Your due date was during the summertime and Boston can get really hot, but yet again, Ransom did not care.
On the other hand you were excited. Even after everything that happened with your and Ransom's parents, your baby was your number one priority. You still refused to talk to your parents. You did not open their letters or answered their phone calls.
Driving to the clinic was awkward. Ransom told you about the idea for the new book. He even told you about writing a book about the baby. That made you fall in love with him even more.
You got out of the car and made your way to the doctors office, hand in hand.
You did not wait long before the doctor called your name.
“Okay let’s see what do we have here. Do you guys have any guesses?” the doctor asked.
“As long as the baby is healthy, we are happy.” Ransom said.
You looked at each other before the doctor spoke again.
“Here is your baby!” Doctor said as he pointed on the screen. There was your little bundle of joy.
“And you are having a…”
Doctor looks closely at the screen before speaking again.
“A little boy!”
Ransom let go off your hand and began jumping out of joy. He was going to have a son.
The doctor printed some pictures and left the room so you and Ransom could talk.
“We are having a boy! A little boy!” Ransom said as tears began to form into his eyes.
“A mini Ransom!” you said as you held your husband’s hand.
“I hope they look much like you actually.” Ransom said.
After talking for a few minutes the doctor came back in and told you that the baby is healthy and told you to make sure to take your daily vitamins.
After leaving the doctors office, Ransom drove straight to the baby shop. That little boy is not even born yet, and he still has a huge closet full of baby clothes, and matching sweaters of course.
As you walked around for a bit, you stopped when you saw that something was off with Ransom.
“Is everything alright baby?”
“Yea it’s nothing”
“Ransom I can see in your face that something is off.”
“Do you think I am capable of being a father?”
“Why are you even asking me that?”
“I grew up in a family full of idiots, and I never knew what a true family is like. I did not have a really good father figure nor a mother that really was there for me. I just don’t want our little boy to go through that.”
You almost began crying. He was scared of hurting his little boy.
“Ransom, you are going to be the best father our son could ask for. How do I know? Well you are constantly worrying about him which shows that you care for him. We are in this together and I am going to help you if you ever think like that, okay?
“Okay” “Do you know how much I love you?”
“Well you have told me 50 times since this morning, which is 50 less than usual!”
You both stood there laughing
“I love you”
“I love you too Ransom”

The love we gave away.
Chapter 3
Pairing: Ransom Drysdale x Reader
Word count: 4.9k
Warnings: angst, mentions of character death, bit of soft Ransom, talks of teenage pregnancy
A/N: we find out the truth that the twins have been hiding! I know this has been kind of a slow start but I’m changing it up a bit next chapter and I’m excited for it! I also love writing a soft-ish version of Ransom first because I want to show that he is capable of it but there still is that asshole version that we might see soon!

“Who are you texting?” Teddy had poked his head into Abigail’s room to ask her something. Lately every time he looked over she was on her phone.
“Y/N.”
“Again? Don’t you get tired of talking to either of them?” Teddy asked as he walked in and sat down on Abby’s bed.
Abigail rolled her eyes as she finished typing out her message.
“No, because I want to get to know them. Y/N is really nice, you should give her a chance.”
“I already have a mom, thank you very much.”
“You’re so dramatic and for what?” Abby sat up to look at her brother. “Seriously, why are you so angry at them? Why are you angry all the time?”
“You know what? It doesn’t matter. Just don’t come crying to me when they want nothing to do with you. Again. Because that’s what’s going to happen, they’re going to realize they don’t want us around and tell us to leave them alone.”
Teddy got up and walked out, slamming the door in the process. Abby was left dumbfounded.
Their mom, Annie, knocked on her door and opened it only when she heard Abby’s faint ‘come in’.
“What was that about?” Annie sat down next to her daughter, who immediately laid her head on her mother’s lap.
“I don’t know. He’s being an ass.”
“Oh come on now honey, cut your brother some slack. These last few months have been hard for all of us.”
“I know but we just-“ Abby cut herself off before she mentioned you and Ransom. She was going to tell her mom but she wanted to find the right way to say it. Maybe even figure out if both her biological parents were going to stick around.
“Just what?”
“Just moved here. We only have each other and I want to be there for him but he just hates everyone and everything.”
“We’ll figure it out honey.” Annie kisses Abby’s forehead. “We always do.”

You had just gotten off the phone with another stylist to who knows which celebrity about a custom outfit for some red carpet event when Wanda sat down across from you. Before she would even say a word your cell phone dinged and you smiled as you replied.
“Ok, are you going to tell me what’s going on?” Wanda asks. Her eyes narrowed in your direction.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you dating someone? From the way you smile at your phone I would think that someone has finally gotten your attention. Maybe that Drysdale guy?”
“No.”
“Then what is it?” She asked again. If there was one thing that Wanda was, it was persistent.
“Fine, I’ll tell you. But you have to promise me this will not leave the office. It’s a very serious matter.”
“Nothing leaves this office. I promise.”
“No one in my life now knows about this. But Ransom and I have known each other since high school. We actually dated from when we were 15 until we graduated.”
“Is that the big secret, you dated a guy? Thought it’d be more interesting like you got pregnant or something.”
You only stare at her and wait for the light bulb to go off.
“Oh my god. You got pregnant when you were a teenager.” She whisper yelled.
“Yup.” You nod before you go into the details of the pregnancy and the subsequent issues. Wanda was glued to her seat, eyes wide and mouth slightly parted from all the gasping and comments she made and questions she asked.
“Wow, Y/N I’m so sorry you went through that. So what does that have to do with the texts and you being so happy?”
“You remember the kids that showed up about two weeks ago?”
“Yeah.” She gasped again as she covered her mouth with her hand. “They're your twins?”
“Yeah. Their mom gave them the letters I had written to them. Then they found a partial address and they found their way here.”
“This is crazy. So what now?”
“I don’t know.” You shrug. “We got together for lunch a week ago. Ransom came all the way from Boston to meet them. Abigail is more open to having a relationship with us. Theodore though, he seems so angry. I don’t know why but I can understand it must be hard for him to come to terms with everything. I’d like to officially meet their parents though and make sure they’re ok if we stay in contact. To have them in my life in any way would just be… wonderful.”
“I’m sure everything will be alright. And if you need anything I’m here for you.”
“Thank you Wanda.” You smile at her.
“Now I’m sorry to burst the bubble but we need you on the main floor.”
“I’ll be right out.” You say as your phone dings again.
Wanda smiles as she watches you type away happily on your phone. You’ve known each other for seven years now with her being your assistant for six of them. Never in her life had she guessed that you had to go through something like that. But you weren’t one to really talk about your past. This new revelation however made her understand why you tended to push people away, even when you were struggling with loneliness. Wanda steps out of your office giving you a few more minutes of privacy as she steps back into the main floor.

“This is a nice surprise. What’s the reason for the visit, Ransom?” Harlan asked as he looked up at his grandson.
Ransom plopped down on a chair across from his grandfather. A drink in his hand from the small bar cart that was in the corner of the office.
“Has your uncle been giving you trouble at the office again?”
Ransom scoffs. “That asshole knows better than to try shit at the office.”
Harlan gives Ransom a disapproving look as he sets down his pen. He sat back, his elbows sitting on the armrests and his fingers interlaced in front of him. Ransom normally came to visit on Sundays so Harlan was curious as to why his grandson was there on Thursday.
“So what’s going on?”
“I wanted to visit you today since I won’t be here Sunday.” Ransom shrugged.
“Oh? Where are you going to be?”
“New York.” Ransom sits up now, this situation with you and the twins had been weighing on him since the first meeting. He couldn’t go to his so-called friends because they weren’t those kinds of friends you could talk to.
“This is the second time you’re going to New York in a month and you don’t even like New York. You’re not going to go partying, are you Ransom?”
“No, I’m actually going to meet someone.”
“A potential new author?” Harlan’s interest piqued. While he was an author at heart and had many best sellers under his belt, he also had the publishing company. He loved finding authors that had as much passion as him and helped them get their stories out there.
“No, I’m meeting Y/N.”
Harlan wasn’t able to hide the surprise on his face. It had been years since he’d heard Ransom speak about you. Only when he got really drunk and the rest of the family wasn’t around would he allow himself to speak of you.
“It’s been years hasn’t it? How did this come about?” Harlan was eager to know more about this meeting. The older man had always been fond of you. He could see the apprehension on Ransom’s face. His mind was busy as he tried to find the right words.
“The twins…”
Harlan was at the edge of his seat now more than ever. You and the twins had brought something out in Ransom he had never seen before. It showed him that the Ransom that knew love when he was a child was still there. That Ransom could be a better man than his father and even himself. But that story had yet to have an ending and Harlan could only hope Ransom would write himself a happy one.
“They found Y/N. She met them and she contacted me.”
“And you’re going to meet them?”
“I already did. About a week ago but I am going back to see them again.”
“You met them already? The first time you went to New York.” Harlan was practically speechless. He thought of those kids, his great grandchildren daily.
“Yeah,” Ransom said with a small smile, one his grandfather hadn’t in a long time. “You’d like them, they seem like great kids. Abigail, she loves your books. I may have promised her a signed copy of your next one.” Ransom sat up more, started speaking more animatedly. “Theodore though, he seems angry. Like he doesn’t want anything to do with us. I can’t blame the kid, I don’t think it'd be easy to find out you're adopted. But they seem to have a really good relationship.”
“And you plan on being in their lives?”
“I don’t know.” Ransom admitted after a while. He didn’t dare look at his grandfather, he’d been at the receiving end of disappointing looks most of his life he didn’t need to see another one.
“I think you want to. You wouldn’t have come here and told me about them if you didn’t.”
“I wouldn’t be a good influence on them.”
“Maybe they’d be a good influence on you. Did you ever think of that? Hopefully they take after their mother in that sense.”
Ransom just narrowed his eyes at Harlan.
“Don’t look at me like that. When you and Y/N were together you were happier. She showed you that you were worth loving and it made you better. What you went through, having to give up your kids, changed you. You were so angry at the world then, still are some times. But you have a chance to answer your own question.”
“What question is that?”
“If you’d be a better father than Richard. Maybe even a better husband, if things worked out with Y/N. Maybe if you gave each other a second chance.” Harlan said hopefully.
Ransom just shook his head and scoffed. You’d never give him a chance, not after the way things ended. Harlan waved his hand dismissively.
“That doesn’t matter now. Meet with them again. Give yourself a chance to realize that you are doing the right thing by getting to know them.” Harlan smiles at his grandson. “If all goes well I’d like to meet them. And I’d like to see Y/N again too.”
“Yeah, I’ll let her know.”
“Now go. I have a book to finish if I want to give my great granddaughter a signed copy.”
Ransom smiled at that. He could already see Abigail’s excited face as she saw his signature on the first page. He gave Harlan a quick goodbye and went home to pack for his long weekend.

The cab you’d taken to meet Ransom, Abigail and Theodore stopped in front of the restaurant everyone had decided on. It was Ransom’s suggestion and although you thought it was too high end for your taste Theodore actually seemed excited about it.
You pay your fare and head in and to the back of the room where the three of them were waiting for you. Abigail was right in the middle of a story about learning how to ice skate when you walked in. It was a balm into the still open wound in your soul. To watch Ransom interact with them, he was listening and putting all of his attention on her. The question popped into your head again. Would this be your life if you hadn’t given them up for adoption?
“Hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting.”
“Hey.” Abigail got up and hugged you, Theodore just gave you a small nod.
You sat down next to Ransom and bumped your shoulders with his.
“It’s about time. Were you caught up with your sewing?”
“Shut up.” You rolled your eyes and turned your attention to the twins. “So how have you been?”
“We’re good.” Theodore answered.
“Have you done anything around the city?”
“Not really, mom has been working extra hours.” Abigail gives you a sad smile.
There’s something about that statement that makes you want to know more about their parents but Theodore catches you off guard by telling you about some new video game he just got. You ask a few questions and you see him come alive with excitement, especially when he’s describing the graphics and the real life locations that inspired the video game.
****
You’ve just finished your appetizers and are talking about how busy you’ll be with work when Abigail and Theodore go quiet. You and Ransom had your backs turned slightly toward the main room so you couldn’t see what they were looking at. Before you can even turn around Abigail speaks up.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” She asks, looking extremely guilty.
You look at Ransom before turning around and looking at another woman approaching the table. She’s obviously a few years older than you. Her hair is black and in a bob, there are a few grays starting to appear. Her eyes are green and bright, a knowing smile on her lips. A rosy tint on her cheeks but underneath that you could see how tired she was.
“I could ask you the same thing.” She raises an eyebrow at Abby.
“I told you this was a bad idea.”
“You didn’t have to come, Teddy.” Abby replies.
“It’s ok, no ones in trouble here.” Annie says before turning her attention to you and Ransom. It makes you feel like you’ve been caught doing something bad. Both of you stand up and you reach out to shake hands with her. “You must be their bio parents. I hope so at least or else I’m going to have to kick someone’s ass. I’m Annie.” She jokes and it puts you at ease.
“I’m Y/N and this is Ransom and yes, we are their biological parents. May I ask, did you not know they would be here today?”
“I didn’t. I thought they’d be out exploring, like they said they would be.”
“So you lied to us?” Ransom finally spoke up as he looked at the twins. “We asked you to invite your parents and you said they were busy.”
“Ransom.”
“You lied?”
Both you and Annie said at the same time.
“Let’s take a moment. I’d like to have a word with you if it’s not too much trouble.” Annie looks at both you and Ransom.
“Yes, we’d love to talk to you. Why don’t we go somewhere more private?”
“The hotel I’m staying at is just a block away. We could go there.”
“Ok.” Annie nods. So the five of you leave the restaurant after Ransom graciously paid the bill.
****
“Order whatever you want.” Ransom tells Theodore and Abigail as he hands them the menu for room service before walking out to the balcony.
You and Annie sat opposite each other on a wrought iron table. Both of you were waiting for Ransom, who sat down beside you.
“So, where to begin?” Annie murmurs. “I had this whole conversation in my head. What I would say if I met you but now everything just seems to have completely erased from my mind.” She chuckles a bit. “I guess I want to start out by saying thank you. For having them and giving me the chance to be a mother. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for you.”
“One of the worst experiences in my life, having to give them up. Does it bother you? That they came looking for us?”
“Not at all. To be completely transparent with you, I knew that address was imprinted on the letter. I knew Abigail, being the curious child she is, would see it and want to know more. I’m glad she was actually able to find you and meet you.”
“Would you and your husband be ok with us being in their lives?” Ransom asked cautiously. That was the most important question and honestly he wouldn’t know what to do if she said no.
Annie gave you both a sad smile as you sat there hopeful that she’d say yes. There was no way either of you could go back to your lives knowing that they’re so close.
“I’d be more than ok with that. But there’s a few things you should know. The most important is about my husband. In a few weeks it will be a year since he passed away.” She reveals, a few tears escape her. You grab her hand gently in hopes of giving her some type of comfort. “It was a drunk driver, he blew right through the intersection and hit my husband on the driver's side. He was on his way to pick Theodore up from the skating rink. The weather had been bad and we told him he should stay home but he really wanted to go with his friends. He feels responsible for his dad’s death.”
“That’s why he’s so angry.”
It was more of a statement than a question. Annie nods as she takes a deep breath and you pull your hand back.
“He thinks that if he hadn’t insisted his dad would be alive. But the truth is my husband would have caved and taken him anyway. He couldn’t see those kids sad at all, spoiled them rotten.”
“We’re so sorry about your loss. This last year must have been difficult.”
“Yeah, losing my Danny, telling the kids the truth and then moving here. Away from all of their friends and family. It’s why I’m glad they found you. Although I wish you would have been in their lives sooner but I never got any sort of response from either of you so I was afraid of what could have happened.”
Her statement takes you by surprise. From your understanding it was a closed adoption. There was no way for you to have any type of contact with them. Annie sees the confusion on both your faces and clarifies.
“I had both of your addresses. After they turned one I started writing to both of you once a month and sending pictures of the kids. I wanted both of you to see that Teddy and Abby were being well taken care of and were loved. And maybe you would have wanted to be in their lives in some way, we could have said you were family friends or something. But when I didn’t receive a response to the birthday invitation for their fifth birthday I stopped.”
It felt like a sucker punch to the gut. All of these years when you wondered how they were doing and where they were you could have known. You looked away from Annie and focused on some building in the distance.
“We never received them.” Ransom says, the bitter tone in his voice sent a chill down your spine.
“Maybe the addresses were wrong.”
“They weren’t. You have to know,” you turn back to look at her. “That we didn’t want to give them up. We had no choice, our parents pressured us into putting them up for adoption. Now I am glad that they had you and your husband. You’ve done such a fantastic job with them.” It was your turn to give her a sad smile. “You should be very proud.”
“Thank you. I think this could be good for them. Getting to know you and all, now it’s out in the open. They were so bad at not saying anything it was kind of cute.” She smiles. “They’ve always been thick as thieves, those two.”
“We can see that. Even though Theodore seems like he doesn’t want to meet with us. He’d do anything for his sister.” Ransom adds.
The French doors that connect the balcony to the hotel room swing open. Theodore stands there with a scowl on his face.
“Will you stop talking about us as if we’re not right here?”
“Watch your tone.” Ransom snaps.
“Ransom.”
“Theodore.”
Both you and Annie called out respectively. It seems like Theodore gets his temper from Ransom. They’re both explosive and reactive when they feel like they’re backed up against a corner.
“What? It’s the truth. Why are you making decisions about us without asking us first?” Theodore defended as Abigail walked up behind him. She peeked over his shoulder and looked like she was ready to apologize for his antics.
“He doesn’t mean it.”
“You don’t have to apologize for him, Abigail. He has the right to feel the way he does.” You say softly, catching everyone off guard. Annie sends you a grateful smile. “Your mom was just asking if we were serious about staying in your lives. She’s just protecting you before we talk to you about it.”
“And if I don’t?”
“Then we’ll respect your decision.”
Ransom shot you a questioning look.
“We’ll give them what we wished we had, a choice.” You tell him and he looks away before nodding. “We leave it up to you. I would love to be in your life in whatever way you’d like. I don’t expect you to call me mom or anything like that. I just want to get to know you and for you to know that I’ll be here for whatever you need.”
“Me too.” Ransom adds.
“Well I already have parents so I don’t need you in my life.”
“Theodore, what has gotten into you. I’ve raised you better than that.”
“I have a dad, I don’t need another one.” Teddy is on the verge of tears. In an act that surprised everyone, especially you, Ransom reaches out and pulls Theodore into a hug causing him to start crying. “I don’t want to forget him.”
“You won’t kid. I could never fill his shoes and we aren’t trying to replace your parents. We just want to get to know you. We’ll be here for you no matter what.”
No one said anything for a few minutes. Abigail went to hug Annie and then she came to hug you. She had tears in her own eyes as she watched her brother breakdown. Theodore eventually pulls away and moves to give you a hug.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbles into your shoulder.
“It’s ok.” You move your hand up and down his back. “I just ask that you take your time and think about it. When you’re ready we’ll be here. We’ll accept whatever your choice is.”
Theodore pulls back and nods before stepping away from you.
“I think it’s best we get going.” Annie says.
“Yeah, ok. You can get our numbers from the kids. I’d like to stay in contact.”
“We’ll talk soon.”
Abigail hugs you both quickly before following Annie and Theodore out.
“That’s was a fucking rollercoaster.” Ransom says as soon as you’re alone.
“Yeah.”
“I’m getting a drink, do you want one?”
“I don’t drink.” You say as you follow him inside.
“You don’t?”
“No I don’t and you know why.”
Ransom looks over at you sitting on the couch as he pours himself some whiskey. Once he’s done he sits next to you and takes a big sip. You roll your eyes.
“You’re an ass, you know that.”
“I’ve been called worse by less important people.”
“And on that note, how are your parents?” You ask with fake interest.
“Just peachy. The spawn of satan just sold another property to some high and mighty piece of shit. And the spineless weasel is using her money to buy expensive gifts for his mistress.”
“You’re joking?” You look at him with disbelief written all over your face.
“Wish I was.”
“After that whole speech they gave us about being immoral and ruining the good name of the Thrombey family.”
“What can I say thimble? They’re not good at practicing what they preach. How are yours?”
“Alive I guess. I did my best to leave them in the past.” There is a beat of silence. “I bet he still has those letters.”
“Knowing Linda she probably burnt mine.”
“Let’s never be like our parents.” You mutter.
“If they’re the ones that set the bar on parenting we can only go up, thimble.”
“That’s the fucking truth.” You turn your head to look at him. “I’m proud of you by the way.”
It always caught Ransom off guard to hear that anyone was proud of him. In this instance he was unsure why.
“You handled the situation with Theodore better than I thought you would. Little rough start but you got there.”
You smile when you see his cheeks go pink. It was easy to make Ransom blush and it was your favorite thing to do. It reminded you of when you were younger and neither of you had really figured out what you meant to each other. Whenever you complimented him or said anything nice in general he would blush just like he is right now.
“I should get going. Fingers crossed they want to keep seeing us.” You say as you get up. Ransom follows you to the door and says his goodbyes.
“Fingers crossed.” He repeats.
This whole situation reminded Ransom why he didn’t do relationships. It was honestly killing him to have his heart exposed like that. He did his best to hold back and act as if it wasn’t that important but it was. One meeting. That’s all it took for him to be wrapped around their fingers. Waiting to find out what they wanted was going to be excruciating but he’d endure it. For them and for you. He’d do anything for you too.

“So what are you two thinking?” Annie asks as she closes the front door of their house.
Teddy just shrugs his shoulders as he looks anywhere but at her. Abby has her gaze averted and staring at the floor of the living room.
“You can tell me the truth. I promise I won’t feel bad about it.”
“I really like them. They’re nice.” Abby admits. “I’ve been texting with them a lot. Mostly Y/N. About her job, she’s a fashion designer and she gets to dress all of these celebrities.”
“Does she know you want to go into fashion too?” Annie asks as she takes a seat on the couch.
“I couldn’t tell her. I don’t want her to think I’m using her for something, but I guess it’s nice to know where I get it from.”
“You mean you don’t get your sense of fashion from me?”
Abby smiles and shakes her head.
“I’ve been begging you for a while to let me redo your wardrobe and you won’t do it.”
“And I never will because I happen to be a snappy dresser.”
“That’s the problem mom, you should be sleek and stylish not snappy.” Abby informs her.
“I’ll think about it. What about you?”
“I don’t know.” Teddy shrugged his shoulders again.
“How are you feeling after today?”
He just shrugs his shoulders. “I’m gonna go lay down for a while, I feel like I’m getting a headache.”
“Ok sweetheart. We’ll talk later.”
****
In his room Teddy pulls out his phone and dials Ransom’s number before he could change his mind.
“Hey kid. Everything ok?” Ransom asks cautiously.
“Yeah. I mean I don’t know… everything just feels messed up right now.”
“What can I do to help?”
“I don’t know.” Teddy sniffles. “I just feel responsible for them, you know. Like I have to be the man of the house. I don’t want mom to feel bad if I want to hang out with you and Y/N.”
“I don’t think she’ll feel bad, kid. She seemed happy that we got to meet. If it makes you feel better she’s more than welcome to join us any time we get together.”
“Mom is like that. She puts on a brave face and acts like everything’s alright. But when she thinks no one will know I hear her crying.” Teddy sniffles as he opens up to Ransom more. “She already lost dad. I don’t want her to think she’ll lose us too.”
“Never. We would never get in the way of your relationship with your mom. To be honest I wish I had a mom like her, she seems like one of the good ones.” Ransom confesses.
“She is. Can I ask you something?”
“You just did.” Ransom chuckles. “What is it?”
“Did you mean it? Everything you said earlier?”
“Absolutely, without a doubt.”
“Do you…” Theodore hesitates.
“Do I what?”
“Do you regret having us?”
“No.” Ransom says quickly. “Loving your mother, Y/N, and having you is the only good thing I’ve ever done. Never ever doubt that. The choice we made was in hopes of giving you something neither of us had which was a happy and loving family. And before you say anything, yes we loved each other and we love you. But we just couldn’t take care of you the way you deserved.”
“Ok.” Theodore says after a beat of silence. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“Alright, call me for whatever you need.”
“Bye Ransom.”
“Bye Theodore.”
Theodore hangs up and places his phone on his bedside table and picks up the picture he has of him in his hockey uniform. His dad proudly stands beside him. He can only hope that his dad is proud of him now and that he’s making the right choice.

Two days before Christmas. The store is left in tatters. Shelves strewn with sparse lefftovers and aisles hastily paced by those who left their shopping a bit too late. The frantic shoppers searching for a diamond among the sand grains of untouched product.
You work at arranging the remnants of the season’s beauty advent calendars on a table draped in a bright red cloth. There’s a large tag in a metal stand that marks them as ten percent off. On the other side of the holidays, they will drop to a full eighty percent off. You always believed giftcards were a better prize, not that you got many gifts.
That year, Luanne gave you a new journal and a specialty hot chocolate bomb in the department’s secret santa. You go Michelle and gifted her a copy of your favourite novel and some nail polishes. That is the extent of your shopping and gift exchanges. Except for your puppy, Ernie, who will get a bone and one of those special gourmet dog meals.
You finish your arrangement and step back, admiring your work. It’s close to close and so close to the end of the race that the shop isn’t as busy as usual. The only customers you do see are in a rush and horribly disappointed when that very specific thing isn’t in stock.
“Excuse me,” you’re drawn around the deep voice. A man strolls up the center aisle of the beauty section, the tails of his coat flicking behind him, “hi,” he uses your name as he approaches, “I’m so sorry to bother you again but can you point me to, erm,” he looks down at his phone, “a ring light?”
You hesitate. He seems to know you and you admit, he looks familiar. You’re at that point where the faces all blur together. Your one innate flaw is that you really don’t have a good memory for that, bt you definitely recognise his voice.
“Hello, sir,” you fall short of his name. You want to say Alan but you also don’t want to be wrong. “The ring lights are actually with the cellphone.” You gesture back at electronics, “I know it makes more sense to put them with cameras.”
“Ah, oh, thanks,” he nods but doesn’t move to find his quarry, he lowers his phone, “how’s your holiday going? Thing’s slowing down,” he looks around and you can’t help but do the same.
“Uh, yeah, yeah, most people are all done,” you shrug.
“Ha, wish I could say the same,” he sighs, “I thought we were done but the wife just sent me on a wild goose chase.”
“Hm, oh, well, I’m not very busy, did you need help finding anything else?”
“Really?”
“Yeah, my manager’s done for the day so doesn’t really matter if I leave my zone,” you say, “kinda boring around here.”
“You’re too sweet,” he smiles, his blue eyes deep and swirling, “and that sweater is adorable.”
You look down at your dark blue sweater with the white crochet peter pan collar. You wiggle your shoulders and grin back at him, thanking him. You know he bought some perfume for his wife but you’re still blanking on his name.
“Here’s my list,” he tilts his phone towards you and looks down, shifting closer to you as he shows you a text bubble.
“Oh my, right. I’m not sure we’ll have everything,” you teethe your lip as you go through the items, “but we’ll see.”
A message pops up over the top and you try not to read, putting your head up as you try to act like you didn’t see it. It’s not that you meant to decipher the words but your brain quickly skimmed that ‘tomorrow night?’ Not much but just feels a bit personal.
“Alright, we’ll go to electronics first, then work our way forward,” you suggest.
“Good idea,” he agrees.
You set off and he follows at just a step. You have to remember to slow down as often you’re so determined you find yourself leaving your customers far behind you. You bring him to the mobile accessories and point to the ring lights.
He considers them and rubs his chin. He points between two; “what’s the difference?”
“Oh, this one comes with a tripod extension and this one is a full kit with a mic,” you point from one to the other.
“What do you think is better for, uh, streaming?” He sounds unsure of that last word.
“I think that kit would have more to it, especially if whoever it’s for is just starting out. But I’m don’t know too much about these things.”
“I’ll take the kit,” he scoops it off the shelf, “the kid can never have enough.”
“Oh? You have kids?”
“One,” he sounds less than excited, “teenager now so he really can’t stand me.”
“I’m sorry, sir, I didn’t mean to…”
“No, no, it’s not your fault,” he forces away the shadow across his features, “you know how they can be. What about you? You going to see your parents? Spending the day with someone special?”
“Um, just Ernie,” you answer, “my puppy.”
“Cute,” he remarks, “are you guys open tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow, yeah, ‘til five,” you try to remember the next thing on his list.
He seems less concerned with the items than before, instead turn to examine a pop socket, “you have to work on Christmas Eve?”
“Yeah, closing, but I don’t mind.”
“What’s this?” He holds up a pop socket.
“It goes on your phone,” you pull out your phone and show him your daisy one, “see?” You hook your fingers around it, “it’s a grip to help you hold on.”
“Ah, makes sense,” he turns the thin package over, “kid’s always breaking his screen…”
You wait patiently as he makes up the mind to add the grip to his haul.
“What’s next?” You prompt as gently as you can.
“Oh, uh,” he looks at his phone, “video games…” he squints, “V-bucks?”
“Ah, yes, that would be a gift card,” you say, “I can show you the rack.”
He lets you lead him to the large rack of subscription cards. You point out the various currency amounts available and he rubs his brow. His forehead lines as you see the stress needling in his cheek. He’s struck with the late shopper syndrome. He’s start to feel the crush of time.
“So, just your dog?” He wonders as he picks up a $75 card.
“Yeah,” you answer softly.
“No boyfriend? Siblings?”
“Just me,” you assure him, “I don’t mind. I get to choose the dessert!”
He chuckles, “that’s a good way to look at it. Did you buy yourself something special?”
“Not really, I’ve been saving for a vacation so I put most of my overtime into that,” you explain. “You having a big dinner?”
“Last minute change, wife’s parents want to host. Had to figure out travel plans.” He looks at the giftcards again and your eyes fall to the large back curled up in his arm and the card and phone grip balanced between his fingers. He slides free a Netflix card and reads the fine print.
“Do you want a basket, sir?” You offer.
“Oh, well, sure,” he accepts as he looks down, “that’s very considerate.”
“Don’t want you to drop anything,” you smile and turn on your heel.
You go to the stack of rolling baskets beside the electronics desk. Tyler doesn’t acknowledge you as he sorts through game shells to put back on the shelf. You pull the basket behind you, rattling on its wheels as you approach the shopper by the gift cards.
“Here,” you veer it around towards him.
He bends to lower the ringlight inside and drops the smaller items into next to it; he adds the Netflix subscription along with it and holds onto the Kindle card in his hand.
“You got any of these around?” He holds up the card, “the reader?”
“Hmm, we should,” you rub your neck, “I suppose if we didn’t, you can get a tablet and download the app.”
“I guess,” he nods, “can you check?”
“Of course, sir.”
You turn away and call over your headset. Regan tells you there’s a kindle up in return they can sell. You ask them to put it aside.
“There’s one left at checkout. They’re going to have it waiting for you,” you announce proudly.
“That’s great. You like to read?” He asks.
“Oh, sure, my one vice is my book addiction,” you giggle, “how about you?”
“Well, I don’t get much of a chance with work. I’m usually burnt out from all the legal documents,” he drones grimly, “then the kid has extracurriculars or there’s a PTA meeting or the wife needs something done.”
“Sounds busy,” you say empathetically, “I hope you get some time to relax this holiday.”
“Me too,” he agrees. “I almost envy you. I’m sure your dog’s good company.”
“He’s so sweet,” you can’t help but beam at the mention of your boy.
“Big cuddler?” He asks.
“Uh, yeah,” the question is a bit unexpected, “you like dogs?”
“Never really had one. Don’t need the extra work,” he says, “but I don’t mind them.”
“That’s fair. He can be a bit needy.”
He flinches and looks down at his hand. His screen flashes and he gives an apologetic look as he raises his palm, “I’m so sorry. I need to take this.”
“Take your time, sir, I’ll wander,” you point over your shoulder with your thumb.
He mouths a thanks before he answers, “Barber.”
You back up and turn to distract yourself with the shelf of controllers and switch cases. His deep voice carries but you focus on the Sinatra carol playing overhead to drown him out. Still you can’t help but catch a few words.
“Five, yeah…no, she won’t…it’s fine…” He’s quiet for a moment before he raises his voice, “figure it out.”
His stern tone sends a chill through you. It’s a sharp contrast to his previously friendly demeanour. Well, he mentioned he’s a lawyer, you assume he has a lawyer voice, akin to your customer service one.
“Sorry,” he comes back to you, “my wife…” he takes a breath, “you don’t happen to sell wine here?”
You smile. The way he answered, it didn’t sound very affectionate but maybe he hadn’t expected his wife.
“No, sorry, sir.”
“Kidding,” he chuckles, “well, I guess I should get my butt in gear,” he flicks through his phone, “um, I assume toiletries? Face masks?”
“Oh, that’s near me,” you point back towards beauty, “there’s a special for the sheet masks.”
“Great,” he grabs the extended handle of the basket, “thanks so much for this. I’m so lost.”
“That’s fine,” you go ahead of him, “it’s the job.”
🎀
You groan as you put the last empty bin in the stack. You stand and rub your shoulders, traps sore from all the lifting and moving. The night crew will set up for the day after Christmas but in the last hour of work, you and the few others in the store scrambled to get the old displays torn down.
Luanne walks with you to the employee break room. Shes in more of a hurry as she has her three children waiting for her at their grandparents. She goes ahead of you and punches out as you wait and stretch out your arms.
“Have a good Christmas,” she says breathily as she opens her locker and pulls out her purse and jacket, folding the latter over her arm, “I’ll see you after. You’re opening, right?”
“Sure thing,” you say as you punch in your employee number. “Merry Christmas.”
“Give Ernie some pets for me,” she trills as she goes to the door. “Thanks again. You saved my ass today.”
“No problem, “ you shake your head, “Christmas Eve brings out the best.”
“Does it ever. Bye, sweetie,” she waves over her shoulder as he sweeps through the door.
You go to your locket and take out your fluffy pink sherpa coat and purse. You loop your scarf around your neck and slip your earmuffs around your head. You sit to pull on your boots and stand with an ache in your calves. You feel the fatigue finally setting in. It’s not over yet; one day off and you’re right back to the furor.
You yawn as you leave the breakroom and drag your feet across the store. You take out your phone as you pop your earbuds in and choose your holiday mix. You wave goodbye to a few other stragglers and go out the front door, Spencer locking it behind you.
It’s bitterly cold out. You’re surprised by the fresh fall of snow swirling in the air. It gives an extra sparkle to the time of year.
You scroll through your phone. The buses are on holiday hours already. The next one is in an hour. Great. You can just walk, at least until you get to the next stop. More buses stop there and you can get at least ten minutes within your building.
You trod along, kicking through the powder of snow as headlights gleam ahead of you. You walk along the narrow walk beside the hotel on the other side of the intersection and a pair of flashing tail lights blink ahead of you. A dark figure stands beside the white SUV but you can’t make out much more than their silhouette.
You keep going, peeking up curiously as you near. The boot of the car pops up and the stranded driver searches. As you pass, you trip over an unseen shape, the metal clank painfully against your toe. You look down at the small foot jack.
“Oh, shoot, sorry,” the man stands straight and turns to you, “I didn’t see you coming. I was just grabbing the iron–”
“That’s okay,” you pick out your earbuds, “I wasn’t looking.”
“Wait,” he stops short and points a gloved finger in your direction, “it’s you. You work at the store just down the way, right?”
You know the man. He’s the one who was in the store just yesterday. There’s a flutter in your chest at the coincidence of your encounter. It happens, especially in the shopping district. Half the city at least passes through her during the holidays.
“Yeah, uh, that’s me. You finish your shopping?”
“Just about,” he tuts and shakes his head, “blew a tire. So, happy holidays to me.”
“I’m so sorry,” you look down at the snowy walk.
“Mhmm,” he grumbles, “all this snow, I can’t get the jack to work either.”
“Dang, unfortunately, I’m not help. I don’t know much about cars.”
“That’s fine, I called roadside assistance but they’re taking their damn time,” he checks his watch.
“Oh…” you utter.
“Don’t let me rain on your holiday, honey,” he says, “your toe okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s fine,” you look down.
“Wait, are you walking home?” He asks.
You nod.
“Wish I could offer you a ride. This weather’s only getting worse,” he bemoans. He slips his hand into his jacket and pulls out his phone, “they should be here shortly so if–”
A set of headlights pull onto the apron and roll towards you. You look over as the man beside you does the same. You stand, somewhat dumbfounded at the unexpected run-in.
“That’s them,” he declares, “hey, guys.”
He waves as the white van pulls up. You were expecting a tow truck. Oh, well. Not your problem.
“Great, I guess I should get going,” you excuse yourself, “have a happy holi–”
As you step back, your heel catches on something. You don’t realise until your plummeting onto your ass that the man stuck his leg out behind you. You hit the ground with an oomph, barely missing the metal jack half-buried in the snow.
You hear the van door sliding open and a clatter of heavy treads. You can barely catch your breath as the world moves fast around you. The man bends over you as another rushes over, grabbing you off the ground as the two vehicles block out the street from view.
“Be nice,” the first man warns as your arms are seized. “Don’t hurt her.”
You suck in a deep breath. What is happening? You go to let out the shriek as you’re struck by the situation. This can’t be real but you’re being half-carried towards an open vehicle. A hand comes up and stifles your scream, smothering you as you’re yanked harshly forward.
“Careful,” the man girds again.
“Shut the fuck up,” the other grits and pulls you away from the other, spinning you around as he hooks an arm around your neck and covers your mouth, forcing you towards the van. He bends backwards, lifting your feet as you kick and squirm.
“Honey, calm down,” the friendly customer coaxes, “it’s okay.”
You don’t understand. Why are they doing this? Why you?
The man’s hand slips as you grab at his arms and your teeth come over the vee between thumb and index. You bite down and he yowls. Even through his leather glove, you give him a viscous pinch.
“Fuck!” He tosses you forward so your knees hit the side of the van and fall half-inside.
“Hurry the fuck up,” another voice calls from inside the van.
“Trying,” the second man snarls as you stand and let out a shrill note, only for a second before you’re caught from behind and muted again. This time the leather glove seals over your nose. “Fucking bitch.”
You’re lifted into the van, writhing and kicking as the door slides shut from the outside. You’re pinned on the floor in the seatless rear of the vehicle. You whimper as your eyes glisten with a sudden spring of tears.
That question rings in your head again; why you? You have no one to look for you, no one to care. It’s only you against them.

"Beautiful?" You heard Ransom call out for you as he shut the front door behind him.
"I'm here!" You answered from the kitchen.
You were too busy searching for something in the refrigerator that you hadn't noticed Ransom rush into the kitchen behind you. You released a startled gasp as Ransom grabbed you by the hips and slammed your back against the second refrigerator door. He held your face in his large hands and crashed his lips against yours in a fierce kiss.
Eventually, Ransom pulled back from you and rested his forehead against yours as the pair caught your breath. "Move in with me," Ransom whispered.
You gasped, your eyes widening in surprise. "What?"
"I want you to move in with me." He smiled softly. "I meant what I said, this is your home now. I want you here, Y/N, with me." He pressed his lips against yours softly. "I want you where I can protect you and keep you safe."
You wore a loving smile as you reached up and cupped his face. "What's brought this on?"
"I noticed you were dancing around the living room and singing with a giant smile on your face as I got out of the car and it made me realise that I don't want you to go back to your apartment." He admitted making you blush. Ransom chuckled, brushing your hair back from your forehead. "So will you move in with me?"
You nodded biting your bottom lip. "Of course, I will, Ransom." You smiled.
Ransom's smile widened before he crashed his lips against yours. He moved his hands down over the curve of your backside and gave it a firm squeeze. You moaned letting Ransom slip his tongue into your mouth to deepen your kiss.
Ransom pulled back and dropped to one of his knees, pulling your leggings down your thighs and off one ankle as he put your leg over his shoulder. You let out a deep moan as Ransom ran his tongue through your folds. Ransom watched you with hunger as he devoured your cunt, watching the pleasure wash over you. Ransom moaned as he began shaking his head from side to side.
You moaned loudly as you gripped his hair, "Ohhh, Ran,"
Ransom slipped his tongue inside your slit and fucked you with it as he squeezed your ass cheeks, holding you close to his mouth. You cried out as you came over his tongue.
Ransom quickly stood up crashing his lips against yours as he undid his pants, pulling his hard cock free. He hooked his arm under your knee and raised it high as he held his shaft and ran the bulbous head through your folds teasingly, making you mewl.
You shook your head, desperate for him to fill you up. "Don't tease, Ran, please." You begged as you wrapped your arms around his broad shoulders.
Ransom smirked, "Always so desperate for my cock, beautiful." You nodded with a whimper as Ransom dragged the length of his cock through your wet folds. "Look at you... just so desperate."
A drawn-out moan left your mouth as Ransom pushed his thick cock inside your pussy, filling you to the brim. Ransom quickly began to move his hips as he pressed his face against the side of your neck, his hot breath tickling your skin. You moaned, over and over as Ransom's hips snapped back and forth. His thick cock stretches your pussy repeatedly. The contents of the refrigerator rattled in time with each of Ransom's thrusts until some of it fell out of the still-open door crashing onto the floor.
Ransom moved his free hand down between the pair of you and found your clit. "Fuck, baby," He moaned against your throat as you gently tugged on his hair.
"Oh, Hugh," You moaned deeply, your eyes rolling backwards as you run your hands over his broad shoulders that were still covered by his coat. The very thought of Ransom needing to take you the moment he was home, made you shiver. You cried out as the head of his cock hit your g-spot as he fucked you harder.
"Fuck!" Ransom snarled as you tugged his hair harder, pulling his face back so you could crash your lips against his.
You came around Ransom's cock moaning into his mouth. Ransom gave a few more strokes of his hips before coming himself. He pressed his forehead against yours as you caught your breath. Ransom cupped your cheek as he pressed his lips against yours in a loving kiss as he slowly untangled himself from you before carefully pulling his softening cock from you.
He rested his forehead against yours with a soft smile. "How was your day?" He asked with a shit-eating grin.
Your head fell back as you began laughing. "It was already going pretty great before you came along."
Ransom smirked, "So I just made it perfect then."
You rolled your eyes at him and pushed him back from you with a playful smile. "I'm going upstairs to shower, you can clean this mess up." You said as you stepped over the things that fell out of the refrigerator.
As you expected, Ransom was upstairs and joining you in the shower in less than five minutes and your quick shower turned into Ransom fucking you against the shower wall before cleaning yourself up.
"Harlan, said I was capable of making my own decisions and he supported me no matter what I decide." You smiled against Ransom's bare chest.
The pair of you laid across the bed, still naked as the day you were born. Ransom laid on his back with one arm around you, holding you against his side as his other laid under his head, his eyes closed as you played with his chest hair.
"I told you, you could never disappoint him... Not when I have all these years." He chuckled making you pout.
"Don't, Ransom... You haven't disappointed-"
"I have, Y/N... Let's not pretend." Ransom turned on to his side so he was facing you. "It's okay. I never used to care about, but now I do. Now I wanna make people proud." He smiled at you.
You smiled back as you placed your hand over his cheek. "How excited are you to see, Linda's, face when we tell her we're moving in together?" You asked with a laugh.
Ransom's head fell back as he laughed. "God, I can't wait." He moved above you and began attacking your neck with sloppy kisses making you laugh.
