My favourite headcanon about the AU where Anakin doesn’t turn to the dark side and just has a normal happy family:

Luke eventually comes out as gay to his mom and his dad, and while Padme is being all super proud and hugging and kissing him, Anakin is standing there like ???What the fuck is gay???

Like, come on, my boy spent nine years on the star wars equivalent of the middle of nowhere and was then raised by the Jedi with their whole major puritan “no-romance-of-any-kind-with-any-gender-or-species” culture. He barely knew that romance or sex existed until he was 19, there is no way anyone ever told him what being gay means.

(But after Padme explains it to him he starts wearing a rainbow pin that says “I’m proud of my gay son” everywhere and studies queer culture in order to set him up with an Anakin Approved™️ boyfriend)

Snippet from chapter 2 of Of Bolts and Bucket Hearts

“Mom, this is Din, my sahe’as, my boyfriend.” Luke said.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Padmé said. “Please take good care of my son. He means everything to me.”

“I noticed you speaking huesmic, were you a slave?” Din asked as they walked.

Padmé laughed. “No I was a queen and senator, but I married his father. He, Nia, and Beru taught me.” She said.

Din nearly tripped. Luke, actually tripped, luckily Din managed to grab him just in time to stop him from face planting into the ground. Luke flashed a grateful smile as he steadied himself against Din.

“You were a queen?” Luke asked. “Aunt Ru only mentioned you being a senator.”

“I was elected queen of Naboo when I was four teen. I ran for two terms. The people wanted to vote for me to stay in power for longer, but I refused. It wasn’t how things were done. After that I became a senator.” Padmé explained. “They insisted I keep the name Amidala instead of going back to Naberrie though. If things had been different I would have taken your father’s last name when we married. But, he was a Jedi and forbidden from marrying, so we had to do it in secret.”

She shook her head. “I haven’t been a Naberrie, Amidala, or Skywalker in a very long time though. All of them were too risky to use. When this war is over I’ll go back to my name, but for now call me Veré.” She said.

“Of course mam.” Din said.

“What name will you use?” Luke asked. “Naberrie or Skywalker?”

“I was thinking Naberrie-Skywalker.” Padmé said.

“Padmé Naberrie-Skywalker. I like it.” Luke said.

Din smiled as Luke and Padmé talked. It was good to see the mother and son catching up. It was like they’d only been separated a few months and not eighteen years. Like Luke had simply moved out and come to visit instead of a first meeting.

Padmé’s Perspective in song lyrics….

Heart of Stone, from Six the musical

I feel like this song relates to Padmé in many ways. This song has lyrics such as ‘but I took your hand, promised I’d withstand any blaze you blew my way’ that represent Padmé’s everlasting love for Anakin and her ability to see the good and hope in all situations. Furthermore, the repetition of the phrase ‘heart of stone’ indicates that the values Padmé holds close to her heart, such as peace and prosperity for all, are unchangeable and are ingrained in her behaviour. Additionally, the verse that hints to Padmé’s tragic, untimely death suggests that her legacy, love and hope lives on in her children and in her handmaidens.

Padmé and Luke similarities

Can anyone else agree that Padmé and Luke or way more alike?

For instance Luke is more level headed, (He could be reckless but he truly learned from his mistakes he knew his weaknesses he thought about his actions.)

Kind (He may of grown up on Tatooine but he didn’t let all the bad things happening in the world crush him. I do understand that Anakin grew up as a slave and in harmful environment but still that shouldn't control you. The difference is Luke didn’t let all that darkness control him. Through Anakin was being manipulated he still had some control. He let all the awful things in his life control him which lead him to his downfall.

Intelligent (Both Padmé and Luke were intelligent. Padmé was a queen at 14 she thought out what she did. It takes deal of bravery and intelligences to lead her planet through an invasion. She was carful what she did she always thought carefully. Luke could reckless but he learned especially in return of the Jedi. He was carful what he said to his father he thought it out well. He carefully made a plan to invade Jabba’s palace. Luke also had a backup plan if things didn’t go to according to plan than he wouldn’t be clueless with the help of his companion R2D2 they escaped.)

Selfless (They were both selfless they cared about people around them. What do I mean? Padmé layed down her life for her planet. She was willing to sacrifice her own happiness to help her people. Luke layed down his life when the alliance was in trouble he sacrificed himself while fighting Kylo Ren for the rebellion, for the last sliver of hope he sacrificed himself then they could have of survival.)

Brave (Padmé was brave during multiple times during her life. She fought for her planet survival during the invasion of Naboo. She may have been young but never underestimate someone for the height or age or looks. She was also brave during the battle of Geonosis. While Luke was brave fighting Vader, Sidious, and fighting in the rebellion.

And this is why I think Luke and Padmé are similar. (Mother like son)

(I've had this in my drafts on my main blog since February of 2022 I think that says a lot! 😳)

she can't speak so she can't tell him about everything, but he does find out that she's actually his mom. when he's like. 10 or something. i have a whole thing planned out for it.

yes she beats obi-wan's ass. yes it happened i saw it with my own eyes.

yes this au is also very much an excuse to draw luke in padme's makeup for the entirety of the ot and see how that changes things.
