Hope you don't mind me asking but would Ron and Warren (No crime au) ever meet Baron?? Given that he's the cause for everyone's mutation? :0
I love this question! (and please feel free to ask as many as you’d like! I love talking about this AU :] )
Ron and Warren do end up meeting Baron Draxum through incredibly funny circumstances. They already knew of the guy from the turtles mentioning him off-handedly (Leo specifically bringing up the “he threw me off a roof!” thing), so they know who he is. They end up meeting him in person in this AU’s version of The Evil League of Mutants, where Draxum summons all of these totally normal guys to his “let’s kill my kids who keep fucking my plans up” meeting. He ignores that they are all cloaking (except for the Sando Bros who are completely on-board with all of this because they are freaks). So the other guys are just very uncomfortable. To be fair, none of the other side ‘villains’ have ever meet or encountered the turtles at all at this point so they are extremely confused as to why gay John Cena is singing at them about murdering teenagers. Warren was in the middle of a broadcast when he was summoned so he’s extra pissed, and Ron is furious at this goat man for even suggesting violence against his best assistant/nephew. It quickly becomes a mess.
Everyone leaves with lemonade while Draxum goes off to put on a shitty magic show trap with his two crabs. The turtles easily kick his ass. Warren and Ron only encounter him again after his redemption arc and actively dislike him. Not only for what he did to them (there’s a lot to unpack there - especially with Ron’s feelings given how his mutation not only took his humanity but also his best friend - as well as with Warren and how he never felt comfortable in his own skin unless he wore a cloaking device), but also with the way Draxum treated the turtles and Splinter.
Ron goes off on Draxum the hardest. Warren is a bitch toward the goat man but Ron’s been hurt worse. And it makes family dinners incredibly awkward in the future…
Side tangent, but now I’m thinking about how Draxum created mutants to destroy the humanity they so desperately cling to, and how it must disgust him to see his own creations so ashamed of themselves that they hide behind cloaking devices. He ruined the lives of so many people and then wonders why they so vehemently reject him. Draxum is, sigh, a mess. Draxum is a mess.
But yeah! That’s how Warren and Ron meet him in Only Brooches :]

Dimentio in an ancient-style fit (Mermentio? Mertio?) + 12th pixl
in my lore post, i talk about how i think dimentio was merloo’s mentor. I like to imagine he was very lowkey and his presence was lost to time, deliberately overshadowed by his student. He mentored merloo so as to get him to write the light prognosticus as a means of countering the dark one and creating a vulnerability in the prophecy for him to exploit later in the events of SPM. I additionally talk about dimentio's mask originating with the dead pixl who died during the events of the pixl war. these are just designs going off ideas from that post
Design notes under cut
-ancients have this really obvious gendered way of dressing, and i wanted dimentio to blur those lines, hence giving him the robes and headpiece of a man but the face veil and headpiece adornments of a woman. hes slaying
-speaking of facial decorations, dimentio isnt wearing his mask yet here. I hc he only starts wearing it around when he starts interacting with bleck (along with the jester fit as a whole)
-i decided to turf the stripes on his fit since it made him look too much like the dimentio we know as opposed to an ancient, as well as there was no ancients with similar patterning.
-to be real dimentio’s canon design is already very reminiscent of an ancient, particularly in the context of the rest of SPM’s designs and how crazy they can get. The basic shape of his hat already looks like a plausible ancient headpiece (like a combination of merlimbis and merlight), and merlumina has similar decal placements on her headpiece. theres also centre brooch that male ancients wear; dimentio’s diamond is similar. They both even have yellow eyes.
-the only real differences are dimentio’s leg and hands, both of which are monochrome and lined with white instead of black, almost emphasizing that they do not ‘fit’ the rest of the look or were added on unnaturally.
-his mask is also monochrome but not lined with white. My reason for this is since I think his mask is what remains of his old pixl, it’s not alien with respect to the ancients (hence not being lined with white), but not an authentic part of him (hence being monochrome)

Something Im still and will probably always grief is that ever since s1 origins we have known that Gabriel had a picture of Emilie in his Miraculous:
Tumblr media
That this was NEVER utilized in any way is driving me up the walls. It's such a crucial weak link that gives away his identity, which Hawkmoth was keeping 24/7 inside his Miraculous around his very neck.
Not even in an What if episode did we get a scenario where Ladynoir (and team) in s4 or s5 got to take the Butterfly away from him - leaving him either with only the Peacock or the other 15 miraculous so his identity could absolutely remain hidden anyway - but before he gets it back through either the dog for example or a Sentibeing Ladynoir opens up the Brooch and sees the picture of Adrien's mother inside.
They never did ANYTHING with it when it had so much potential to be game-changingly included in the plot, or even just a What if episode....
Tumblr media
And don't you get me started on Hawkmoth’s iconic Butterfly symbol from his lair straight up being one Adrien KNOWS because it stands in connection to his mother
Tumblr media
At least its still there at the end of s5
And they just didn't think any of that worthy of utilizing because it wasn't directly connected to Marinette, who still needed Félix to do her entire job of finding the man behind Hawkmoth’s mask bc the show prioritized Chloe being a bitch and bully, Maribug looking cool in every akuma battle that STILL never resulted in anything more than a TIE (meaning they never stopped being painfully POINTLESS), never getting a single step further even with Alya by her side and making an unnecessary team of 18 miraculous holders for herself when that was never her job in the damn first place.
We didn't even find out anything more substantial about the guardian or Kwami lore because she wasn't interested in that either...
*sigh*

What is it with the fire elementals and them being able to bond with dragons so well?
We got Wyldfyre, who was raised by one.
We got Ray, who has a dragon brooch on his design.
We got Kai, who was not only told stories about them, is always the first one to bond with a dragon of the team, but also raised someone who is part dragon.
Yeah I'm seeing a pattern here regarding Fire Elementals and their bonds with dragons being this prominent. I wonder if there's some lore reason behind that or if that's just a coincidence.

UPDATED appearances for the GG rivals au characters: now with Lizzie and Joel!!
Once again, i am no artist so they are just written descriptions with pictures here and there. Most of them are largely the same as the previous post, but I have added little tidbits to certain descriptions, some of which are lore related!
Gem looks similar to this gorgeous fanart, except her dress has slits up the side to allow for easier movement. This look is sometimes replaced entirely by a trouser and tunic combo of the same colour if she knows the mission she is being sent on will need a great deal of movement in close quarters or something to that affect. No matter the outfit, her sword never leaves her waist. Her hair is in a low bun with a braid wrapping around the front of her head, like this. I do not imagine her with horns in this au.
Scott and Impulse wear armour similar to how applestruda draws it in her au, with their cloths in shades of teal and yellow respectively. Scott has long, back length hair, that he wears down and covering one eye. He was born with heterochromatic eyes, one blue and one hazel. His teeth are sharp, and he has fin-like ears due to his Coral Crest heritage. Impulse has shortly cropped hair, stubble on his face, and two little nubby horns that are tipped in black extending out of his forehead. He also has sharp, clawed hands.
Grian's eyes are entirely black like a barn owl's, and he has feathers on the high parts of his cheek bones and ears. His hands end in sharp talons rather than nails. He also has bird-like legs and taloned feet. His wings are not visible, if there at all. He wears a red shawl/cloak that has a high collar and ends around his waist, held closed by a brooch in the shape of an eye, similar to this but golden instead of silver. It has a hood, but he only wears it if he is trying not to be seen. His undershirt is black, and it is a long sleeve. His trousers are brown.
Scar wears a similar black cloak as Grian, held closed by the same brooch, though he wears his with the hood up. The cloak has red flower detailing on the hem. His eyes are green, and his hair is brown. He has a single grey streak in the front of his bangs. His tunic and trousers under the cloak are both black and he wears his shirt just a little bit too open at the top. He also always wears a smile, but pretty much everyone can agree it is deceptively kind and fake. He looks the most human out of the whole cast, so much so that it is entirely uncanny. EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to mention! Scar has a cane as well. It's wooden with a gold handle.
Mumbo and Etho wear matching outfits, claiming it is professional since they share a job and shop, but it is something they choose to do, not something that is required of them (they are just very, very silly). They are simple outfits consisting of white tunics with black trousers and thick, leather aprons on top (mumbo's is red and etho's is a dark green). They both wear goggles and thick gloves, as well as chunky boots, all for safety since they work with explosives very often. Etho wears a black bandana to cover his lower his face, both to hide his scars and his identity. His goggles replace his headband in this look, doubling as what keeps his hair out of his face. His scared eye is missing entirely; he does not have a false eye, it is just an empty socket. Mumbo wears his goggles around his neck when they are not on his face.
Bdubs also wears thick gloves to protect his hands in the garden. His shirt is white, and he has brown trousers that are a tad bit high watered, something he claims is intentional as he does not want mud all over his trousers. The previous argument becomes moot, because over this outfit he wears a thick cloak that is almost always covered in some manner of flora and/or mud. He completes the look with a wide brimmed hat to protect him from the sun.
Cleo is also dressed similarly to Etho and Mumbo but her apron is a plain brown that is stained with soot. Her tunic sleeves are always rolled up to show off her strong arms and she doesn't wear her safety gloves nearly as much as she should. She forgoes eye protection entirely. One of her eyes is missing, replaced with a glass eye of a slightly different shade of green than her organic eye. Her hair is pulled into a much messier bun than Gem's, with frizzy stray hairs going every direction. She is NOT a zombie in this au, she is completely human.
Ren is dressed in all the typical regalia of a king, complete with a diamond encrusted, golden crown and a thick red cape with a fluffy collar. His thick beard is long and braided. His eyes are red, as well as blood shot, and he almost always appears angry. He, of course, has wolf ears and a tail. He simply would not be Rendog without them.
Martyn is dressed in the same armour as the other knights. His under clothing is green, as is the bandana he wears around his forehead. He usually appears worried, but he smiles often in the presence of the king. He always has a hand on the sheath of his sword, ready to draw it at any time.
Pearl wears a white tunic with flared sleeves tucked into a pair of high waisted black trousers. Over this she has a deep, red cloak that stops at her waist and is held closed by a circular broch that, when unclasped, takes the shape of crescent and wanning gibbous moons. She has a crescent moon shaped birth mark on the left side of her face. Her hair is always down and messy under her hood. When she is on the job, she carries a scythe strapped to her back, along with a crossbow. There is a sheath on her leg which contains a dagger.
Bigb wears a blue tunic with brown trousers, along with a thin white apron when he is working. He always seems to have flour stains on his clothes whether he is on or off the clock, no matter how hard he tries to wipe it off. Big strong arms for him as well.
Skizz wears the same armour as the rest of the knights, and his underclothes are black. The shoulder of his armour has a cross emblem on it that delegates him as a medic, and he has medical supplies carried across his chest. The sleeves of his tunic are ripped off and he does not wear his gauntlets, showing off a plethora of scars along his arms. He is a dove avian, but one of his wings is heavily damaged and half missing as a result of an old injury he sustained on the field. He has white feathers on his upper cheekbones and ears, but he lacks the talons that Grian has.
Tango wears a short sleeved red tunic and black trousers with big chunky boots that are never free of mud. His hands are clawed, and his ears are pointed; both are tipped in a red to black gradient. His eyes are entirely red. He has a long tail that ends in a tuff of fire that doesn't seem to actually have any real heat.
Jimmy wears a blue tunic with a brown vest over it. Brown trousers and chunky boots. His sleeves are always rolled up and he is always covered in some manner of dirt, both because of the work he does on the farm, and from being very clumsy. He has bull horns, one of which is chipped. He also has a tail and bull-like ears. He has a gold ring in one of his ears.
Lizzie wears a flowy purplish-pink dress that is thin, both to allow for free movement and to allow airflow in the Coral Crest heat. Her teeth are sharp, and her ears are fin-like. Her nails are very sharp. She wears her pink hair down with a string of pearls like this. She wears many silver and gold bracelets on both wrists, along with a few anklets on both ankles. She does not wear shoes unless she is out of the castle.
Joel Wears a thin, short sleeved white tunic and brown trousers under a set of armour. While Wintertide armour is more thick and sturdy, as well as a darker greyish colour, Coral Crest armour is more thin and agile, and is a lighter grey, almost white, colour. He wears no gauntlets. His hair is short and messy with the back pulled into a tiny ponytail. He has a short, scruffy beard. He also has fin-like ears, sharp teeth, and sharp nails. He puts on a tough guy act by scowling all the time.

Thank you for answering my question about Leona and his gloves!
There I meant if guys can cast spells without their pens? Or it’s just dangerous without them?
[Referencing this post!]
Tumblr media
I’m pretty certain it’s possible to cast magic without specifically magical pens; it’s just risky to do without some kind of magical item or something embedded with a magestone to act as a magic conduit. Without that, one accumulates blot much more quickly and it can be difficult to gauge how much blot you’ve already collected without a visual (like the color of one’s magestone).
This is topic addressed in the Vargas Camp event, when the students’ magical pens are confiscated. They realize that this will make using magic (to help with camping) very difficult for them. However, they were later able to use raw magestones they mined and that Ruggie pilfered to help them overcome certain obstacles. So… it’s not so much the magical pen that’s important, but the magestone in it. Trey also clearly states that they can use magic “without their pens”, but that they’re at a greater risk for blot without the pens.
If you look across the various cards, there are numerous examples of characters or even whole lines where other magical objects or items with magestones are used to help the boys channel their magic. In the Dorm Uniform series, Vil uses a grimoire, Leona/Azul/Riddle/Kalim/Malleus use staves, Idia’s magestone is inside of a floating skull device. Presumably, this occurs because they have a magestone embedded in these alternative use items (for example, when Idia OBs, the blot is shown pooling in the magestone inside of his skull device).
Magestones can come in many different forms, so it’s not limited to just magical pens. RSA has magestones in brooch form, and Lilia explains to Trey (in Lilia’s School Uniform vignette) that though magical pens are what is chic now, they have gone through many different size iterations through the years and describes the changes like trends. Popular fan speculation is that the NRC staff wear their magestones in alternate forms as well, such as Trein’s cravat and Vargas’s bracelet.
Various events also utilize different items, enchanted or not, to aid the boys in combat. For example, the flower bouquets in Ghost Marriage are already enchanted with the power to dispel ghosts. Many other items the boys use for combat don’t inherently have magical properties (fishing poles, cooking utensils, pies, peashooters, instruments, etc; the Diasomnia boys just do martial arts for their Halloween costumes). There are also cases where people cast their UMs without explicit use of the magical pen (such as Jade on Kalim in episode 4; if Jade had his magical pen out, it would instantly give away he intended to do something). Given what we know from Vargas Camp, I believe the implication is that as long as a character has a magestone ON them, they can safely use magic (ie the magestone helps them use everyday objects to channel their spells, and/or they can cast their UMs without necessarily whipping out the magical pens to wave for the spell). It’s also possible for someone to use magic without a magestone, but there is a greater risk associated with that.
The only notable exception I can think of is that Malleus uses magic on the regular by just waving his hands around rather than by utilizing his magical pen like most of the other students do (see the School Uniforms for an exemplar). This could just be another case of "a character uses magic with a magestone on him", but I think if there are any characters that can easily use magic without a magestone, it's probably him (because of how overpowered the Draconia line seems to be)? Like I said before though, my general impression based on the current lore is that it's the magestone, not the pen, that allows for magic to be safely conducted. Again, safety is an emphasis here; it’s possible for any mage to use magic without a magestone, but blot is a much greater concern.

In the Plain of Nysa (Trigun Greek Mythology AU)
Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Tumblr media
Priest of the Twins' Cult
Lives pretty much in the Sanctuary of Nysa by himself but gets occasionally visited by other Members of the Cult, his younger brother Livio or people in need of the Twin Gods' Blessings.
A (Kinda?) normal Priest living in his tiny Sanctuary offside from Civilisation on a small Island in the Aegean sea called Nysa.
His Duties for the most Part consist of Prayers and Sacrifices for the Gods And keeping the Temple and Statue of the Twins clean and occasionally doing a Ritual on thr Request of the odd Visitor.
Did not expect one of the Gods he is serving to be dropped off at his Temple by the goddess Meryl and her Satyr companion Roberto and to be stuck Body-Guarding said God but oh well here he is.
May Or May Not Regret Giving Vash That Short Chiton.
For more Information/lore about this AU just look at the in the plain of Nysa tag on my page or just send me an ask in my inbox.
Also shout out to my best pal Stephan for teaching me how to draw.
Additional Ramblings about the lore and WW’s design under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is btw what a Penennular Fibula looked like and I only now noticed that WW is wearing it wrong in my drawing 🥲 The needle is supposed to rest on the Bow of the brooch and not in the opening in the middle.
Also this Fanfic takes place approximately around the time of the Peloponnesian War (431-404 BCE), however Penennular Fibula were primarily worn by either Celts and Romans. So as you can tell while I am trying my best with historical research and keeping things somewhat historically accurate, there are still creative liberties being taken for this AU.
As for why this AU and Wolfwood‘s Sanctuary are called "in the Plain of Nysa“: It‘s actually a reference to the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, aka the most complete version of the Myth of Hades and Persephone we have. In this Hymn it says
Tumblr media
In other words it was "in the Plain of Nysa“ in which Persephone was kidnapped by Hades. On a fun note, Nysa is actually not a real place anywhere in Greece. It was instead meant to symbolise "a place far away“ the same way we tend to say "in a kingdom far away“ when starting to tell a fairytale. However that did not stop some Ancient Greeks from guessing where Nysa might be located. Some thus point it to be situated somewhere in Macedon or today‘s Balkans, others claimed it was around the area of the Black Sea or…. That Nysa was on the Island Naxos. Which is why in early drafts the Sanctuary was meant to be located on Naxos itself but as I have never been to Naxos in my life it felt disrespectful to the actual people who live there so I just changed it to the Sanctuary of Nysa being on a lone non-existent Island near Naxos instead.
On a smaller note Nysa was also said to have been the Birthplace of Dionysos, with his name meaning "God of Nysa“. In other Stories however Nysa was the name of a mountain on which Dionysus had started his cult.
I am also taking some creative liberties with how Priesthood functioned in ancient Greece. Unlike how it works in Catholicism and other religions, Priests in ancient Greece were not a separate social class. Heck apart from a few Cults and sanctuaries, being a priest was not even seen as a main occupation of job for that reason. And a priest usually wasn‘t chosen by some council, but in many cases you just paid a certain amount of money to become a priest. They did not even have an official attire like catholic or shinto priests do nowadays. However they were still expected to dress somewhat formally compared to WW‘s Exomis, which is basically the ancient greek equivalent of a priest showing up in shorts, flip flops and an old Tshirt.
The Twins Cult in this AU is by the way HEAVILY based on the Eleusinian Mysteries, aka the Mystery Cult dedicated to Demeter and Persephone. I will some day make a post dedicated to them and priesthood in ancient Greece as a whole.
And yes I still fucking hate drawing feet and shoes.

The old sketch of human (or not?) Valdemar.
Because of their antiquity, I came up a headcanon about their origin. So, what about a country near the great river and with the great pyramids? Many lands of the Arcana world have references from India, Arabic region or Mongolia – so, Ancient Egypt? Why not? I can't decide, maybe this is ancient Zadith? There is nothing about Zadith in the canon, just a note in the https://thearcanagame.fandom.com/wiki/World:
"The homeland of Asra's parents, Zadith lies across the Malvent Strait from Vesuvia. This is a country where both science and magic are highly respected. Those who combine both disciplines are known as alchemists."
I think this short description is suitable for the heritage of such civilization as Egyptian.
I’m sad that the history of the world is so poorly developed, but I still love the lore so much. And I’d be happy to read (only from the original writers), say, a brief history of the world. But since there's no any history, I'm taking the liberty (and, a bit, my history degree) to assume: Zadith is the inheritor of some ancient civilization like the Ancient Egypt.
I'm not good at naming, so I will provisionally call it "Deshret" – Egyptian word for "red land, desert". Valdemar spoke about "millennia of existence", describing their antiquity, so I'm pretty sure: they have been born as a human in the ancient kingdom, like the Ancient Egypt. Also, note that red beetle brooch at the neck: similar motives were common in the Ancient Egypt. And, I think, Valdemar had this beetle brooch long before the Plague.
Okay, maybe developers in Portia's route (flashback scene with Prospero and foundation of Vesuvia) just showed Valdemar to us as we know them, because of developing another (kinda "more ancient") sprite and costume for the short scene is not viable. But anyway: we have what we have. What if we imagine that "red beetle brooch" of the Courtiers is rooted not only in the Red Plague? What about a, merely my headcanon, the Egyptian "scarab" motif?
So, there's the old traditional sketch I have. When I drew this pic, I imagined Valdemar just after their first deals with the Devil. Just look at their eyes.🫀
And – of course, they are in the tomb. Maybe as a priest? Who knows, fellow humans.

(a question for when you have time again) What do the stones for the cloaking brooches in Only Brooches look like in their rough/natural form? Do they form any interesting shapes naturally?
Ooo! I had to think about this one for a bit because I was torn between two stones but then I realized that since this is my AU I can do whatever I want :]
Since a majority of the stones for cloaking brooches are formed from drops of crystallized Empyrean, they’d look similar to raw amber.
Tumblr media
However, some Empyrean doesn’t fall right away and crystallizes in a form akin to stalactites. The cloaking stones made from those stalactites look like solar quartz in their raw form :]
Tumblr media
It should be stated that stalactite-formed cloaking stones are the most rare and almost exclusively form in the colors of red and brown (with two color exceptions being blue and yellow). Big Mama, surprisingly, has failed to claim a monopoly on them due to their natural banding clashing with her aesthetic. The only ones who can afford them are high class yokai, however.

I think everyone is sleeping on the Tom Bombadil chapter. Like yeah he's fun and silly and a wife guy, but dude also carries some serious trauma and they just slip in super deep backstory randomly throughout. Like, clearly he was friends with the people who lived in the barrow downs, and saw them continue to fight each other while trying to get everyone to just sing and get along. But they killed each other until his once full domain is now inhabited by wites that haunt their deserted ruined castles. He could clear out the ghosts and make it safe, but these are the ghosts of his old friends and the last connection to that past. He finds a brooch once warn by a dear friend he saw grow from a baby to a fearless woman only to be cut down too soon, or maybe she grew to be a wise crone. And he sees this brooch for the first time in hundreds of years and decides it deserves to be out of the shadows. He probably also knew he jeweler who made it. He's the master, but he's the master of ghouls and malevolent trees because he had to watch the evil of the world rob his paradise of what made it good. We get a quick glimpse through the sad eyes of an immortal.
So yeah, odd character but wow what a dense chapter of rapid fire lore if you look for it. And he's also awesome in my opinion

finally decided to post these doodles...
im an embarrassment to the Rottmnt community /jk
i never thought of a storyline for Brewster and Rupert. i already spend too much time thinking up of lore for a minor reoccurring Rottmnt villain.
legit my only excuse is, i really like him- he's a comfort character just like phantom. let me kiss him
Some Brewster lore (this is prone to change)
Brewster is an Irish immigrant who moved to the Hidden city in NYC due to humans. he heavily dislikes being referred to as a "yokai" and prefers to be referred to as a "Puca" (his species) or "Aos Sí" (Irish fairy)
Brewster is a popular artist and art critic however is rather anonymous. so while his works and scalding reviews are known throughout the hidden city. his true identity remains a mystery to the general public
He has no need for a cloaking brooch since his species are natural shapeshifters
Brewster has a hard time communicating his thoughts and feelings, thus prefers to be alone. He's rather passionate about art so the second you mention it- he starts rambling.
Hella trans, hella ace and hella autistic-like actual me

hi, sorry if this have been asked before, but do you have any refs/inspos of clothes that the characters use/is time/region appropriated for myrk mire?
(also, sorry if this question is confusing - english is not my first language :") )
Hi,
Your English is very good!
Clothing, this has proven a topic of flux in the development of the story. I'll include the original answers I gave concerning clothing style below, but I think it's about time I updated this for you all, as things have changed...
Original answers and historical resources concerning clothing:
Historical costume
Source Material 1
Where the world is currently:
I use a little source document to keep track of clothing, so for the most part I'll be copy pasting the text from that into the post. It's quite cliff notes style, but it gets the important information across and the reasons for various stylistic choices.
Quick terms breakdown for those not 100% up to date with the wider lore around the story.
The Four Shores is a collection of four realms containing Diota, Eard, Jǫkull, and Þinda, located on a collection of islands widely considered north of pretty much everything else. Eard is the realm in which the story of Myrk Mire and TBT takes place.
A Wealdend is a leader within the rulership structures used in the Four Shores, a male wealdend is called a Cyning, a female a Cwén, and nonbinary individuals use the Wealdend title itself.
The Riverlands is a separate region on the Southern Continent, with little to no political, social, or cultural ties to the Four Shores.
Falatu is another island in the north, but not a member of the Four Shores. They have sympathetic political and cultural systems, but maintain their own very separate identity in comparison to their unified neighbours.
The Eahtung is a ruling collective of skilled individuals who work alongside the Wealdend. More information than this would open up a deep rabbit hole...
"Warmth is everything to the Four Shores, so layers are favoured.
Rather than high necklines, shawls are favoured, these decorated with swirling patterns.
Lacking a clearly defined nobility, showing evidence of one’s craft or skill is favoured higher than material expense. A metal smith would display their skill by wearing more metal upon their outfit, a weaver a more elaborate hemming, a woodworker finely carved beads.
Amber is the sole reserve of the Wealdend, and should not be worn by anyone else.
All have their ears pierced, women both ears, men just one, others may choose. Rings are worn here, usually made of silver or gold, often times studded with gems.
Everyone wears stringed beads about their necks. These beads can be ceramic, wooden, bone, metal, or stone.
There is no shame in underdresses or tunics being shown.
Women wear linen underdresses, typically white, with woollen overdresses secured at the shoulders with preónas or brooches and lacing at the sides. The lacing only extends as far at the hips, and the overdress is either slit long these lines without further lacing, or it is one unified flair of fabric.
Men wear mid-thigh length linen undershirts with woollen overshirts that are slightly shorter. In colder months this is supplemented by a wraparound jacket secured by belts or ties. Men also wear trousers of ankle length similar to the Riverlands, but these are secured by fur, or cloth wraps up to the mid-calf.
Everyone wears calf height boots. In the winter months these are fur lined.
 Everyone wears belts.
Hair is traditionally worn long by all genders, and is braided back from the face and tied in horse tails or buns at the back of the head.
Hoods and hats are used out of doors in colder seasons, but it is seen as rude to continue to wear these coverings indoors as it implies that the host does not keep their home warm enough to be comfortable.
The finest of outfits are hemmed with embroidered banding, these vary from simplistic geometric patterns, to full scenes of foliage or animals.
Bracelets are seldom worn, favoured more by the peoples from Falatu, and rings are only really worn as a symbol of office, guild status, or position as Wealdend. The Tug Stone rings are the sole use of the Wealdend, Eahtung and the respective heads of each province.
The ruling families align themselves to animals incorporating them into their surnames, once picked, they cannot wear anything taken from that animal. Otherwise furs are used to line apparel for warmth.
Cloaks are not worn indoors for similar reasons to hats, but out of doors are acceptable, they range from calf-length to lower-hip length."
As for visual aids, I'm a bit lacking in those right now.
Basic rules:
Warmth and practicality are key.
Linen underclothes, woollen overclothes.
Head coverings for outdoor use.
Ear piercings for everyone.
Belts are the toolkit for all and hold pouches and exterior pockets.
I can do a bit of visualisation for weapons, though (surprising no one). The Four Shores use two main forms of bladed arms, the sæx, and the méce.
A sæx in this context is a short, single edged blade with a tapered point.
Tumblr media
Image of the Seax of Beagnoth currently held at the British Museum. Image attributed to Wikipedia contributor BabelStone.
A Méce is a long single edged blade with a slightly curving profile. Wielded one-handed or two-handed, it favours a cutting sweep rather than a thrust approach. If you fancy seeing two chaps demonstrate the historical weapon that inspired this, the messer, I highly recommend this video:
youtube
The first section though, they later switch to different weapons.
Most important features to look at are the pin crossguard that sits at angle to the blade, how the single edge is used to advantage in the application of force, and the length of the hilt to suit the single versus two-handed approach to wielding it.
Anyway, that's enough to be chewing over, I think.
I'll keep an eye out for visual sources on dress and clothing, so folks have a clearer idea on all that.

so I’m thinking about the Victorian custom of making mourning jewelry.  Basically this was having a piece of jewelry made, say a brooch for instance, when someone you loved died.  Inside the brooch you’d include (usually) a lock of their hair.  In fact, hair was in high demand on the Victorian mourning market, going beyond a simple lock of hair in a watch fob to becoming a part of the jewelry itself, woven into metal or used in the enamel, etc.  Hair wasn’t the only thing kept.  There are records of teeth making their way into rings for instance.   Having a part of a loved one that had passed on felt like a way of keeping their memory close.
on another, and entirely unrelated note - I’ve also been thinking of the folk lore and superstition that a lot of cultures have that say when you clip your nails or lose - a tooth for instance - you need to dispose of it properly.
Because to have a part of someone else’s body is to have a way to control them.

SOOOO
We know there were supposed to be two more turtles, right? I don’t know the turtle lore but people have names: Venus and Jennika!
They would be their own characters, like everyone else in Rise so thankfully I don’t have to know much turle lore for this xD
FIRST. The ages! Wanna the girls to be the oldest sisters cause that would be funny xD And give Raph yet another existential crisis! He is not a leader anymore and he is not the oldest sibling anymore xD Mikey - 14, Donnie and Leo - 15, Raph - 16, Venus - 17, Jennika - 18.
Now, we know like 99% where is one of the turtles.
Tumblr media
I wonder if Big Mama knows. There is a chance she doesn’t since she didn’t try once to pull anything with Lou. She probably found a turtle baby and took her in thinking she is a yokai and raised as her assistent. I hc her to be Venus.
The next own is my top favourite headcanon I will NEVER let go until canon says otherwise xD
Tumblr media
JESSICA! Sounds suspiciously like Jennika xD And as far as I remember she is the only not-background girl who doesn’t have lipstick and in general her mouth is more wide, turtle-like. Now that makes me wonder what does this mean for her character and her not giving anything away to Leo. She described Leo’s look like a costume. Is she not aware or lying? And she herself looks like a human and I don’t see any cloaking brooch on her.
Their weapons probably would be from comics. With Venus wielding tessen? and Jennika wielding kuzuri?
NOW! The more specific headcanons xD Jennika is a bit taller than the twins and Venus is slightly shorter than the twins. yes kjsha
Their mystic abilities.
I don’t have much xD I would give Jennika illusions because she has to look like a human SOMEHOW. Would be cool for her to discover it on her own early on. I am curious how she ended up on the surface. Personal hc for now: she was found by a human and was took in and because she looked like a turtle she couldn’t get out and was home schooled by her overworked mom. That made her determined to learn how to fend for herself. She unlocked her mystic abilities, got into Lou Jitsu movies(everyone has to have it as a part of their childhood!!) and eventually got into wrestling where her showmanship’s strike was revealed and she quickly earned a stable job in there. She dislikes her turtleness and that’s why she refused to engage with Leo further.
And Venus? How about magnetic field. She can pull things in to herself and push them back for extra speed and damage. What if she did not discover it yet because of the repressed life style despite living among yokais. She also knew of Lou Jitsu and secretely idolized him. Though she knew about him not from movies from the human world, but from his fights in Nexus. She also unconsciously envied him for ‘getting away’. She is still loyal to Big Mama.
Now the relationships with the fam once they are discovered.
Jennika is very loyal to her mother but she is not interested in such a sudden big family. She is not much into it but is dragged anyway xD She can bond with Raph over their love for wrestling and will be openly critical about Leo’s humour(yes the Neon Leon xD) and not respect the squirt. Mikey will be fawning over her and she will be a bad influence on him, she likes him though, he is funky xD Donnie isn’t sure about her and constanly goes back and forth between liking her and being sus xD And she tries to use him which is not THAT hard xD (not malicious intent and hey the kid can get something out of it too xD)
Venus is... she WANTS a family but she doesn’t really know how to have one. The proper one. She is very much into hierarchy so she will be supportive with Leo being sort of adviser for him, but will shut Raph down, which will frustrate him. Mikey will be frustrated with her too, since he will try to be as open and welcoming with her as possible but she is just unreachable. She isn’t used to show her real emotions and frankly she doesn’t know how and doesn’t reciprocate Mikey’s attempts in inclusion. She will get along with Donnie very nicely though. Since Donnie doesn’t push himself on her and she is very interested in his science since she was deprived of human things.
