The Death of the Tragic Devil
Watched Skyehoppers’ SPM video today so I’ve been thinking about the lore and my headcanons/theories again. Thus I whipped out a ‘mentio (RIP)

Heads up for the first chapter update on Dimenchant and Viola, have a chart of Toads throughout all of the Paper Mario games and I didn’t realize that what I assumed was the design of all the Toad guards in the first Paper Mario game was the design of ONE specific Toad named Fice T. So the two Toad guards that appear have the same outfit as Fice T.
This is the chart btw
And these are unused Toads in SPM for me to share because why not.

I think I am the way I am partially because my first ever big video game with a story was Super Paper Mario. The narrative is kickass but honestly more than anything I haven't seen many examples that come close to how visually coherent Super Paper Mario is. The amount of geometric shapes in the art direction of the game really drives home how many characters could only exist in 2D, which really drives home the ability to swap to 3D!!!! It's so cool!!! and all the weird equations in the sky and the bizarre (even for Mario standards) enemy designs and the way each world seems to have a unique pattern to the way the world layout is stylized.....its absolutely incredible

In Super Paper Mario, the rare Toopa Striker enemy (spelled "Toopa" instead of "Troopa" as a pun on usually appearing in groups of two) normally attacks by kicking a soccer-themed shell back and forth. However, it has an obscure interaction only experienced under specific circumstances.
If the player decides to make Mario stand on a platform where the shell would not reach him, and enough time passes, the Toopa Striker will suddenly switch up its strategy and kick the shell directly at Mario, which it normally has no indication of being capable of doing. This is likely to surprise players unprepared for that attack, as shown in the footage.
As most players would try to defeat the enemy long before this strategy is activated, this is likely to not be seen by the vast majority of players during a normal playthrough.
