I have created a master list of queer fiction books which can be sorted and filtered by your preferences. However, many have asked how to use it - so I have created a quick guide below!

This is not like google sheets - any filters you create will only be shown to you and will disappear when you exit that screen. So feel free to mess around! I promise you won’t ruin anything.

Step 1: Open the database

Step 2: Select the “Create Your Own Filter” view on the left-hand side.

Step 3: Click “filter” on the top bar.

Step 4: Input any filters you would like to organize the files by. The screen will automatically update with books that fit into all of your specifications.

heyheyhey idk if u know how cool and important it is to have a badass assassin story with something other than cis gays and have it be Not a Big Deal but,,, it’s literally one of the first legit published books I’ve ever found like it?? And in a genre that I love??? And written well?? And genuinely funny as fuck?? Idk I’ve never seen an enby that gets to exist without it being A Tragic Plot Point or something To Overcome so thank u??? Like so much???? I can’t tell u how much???? I definitely didn’t cry at all about it nope not even once

:DDDDDD omg, my heart started pumping faster when I saw this ask. I am always so giddy when people talk to me about my books, especially the specifics about characters and tone and things they liked!

Yeah, I wanted to include every goddamn color in the pride flag!!

Pansexual/ bisexual assassins, nonbinary demons, a transgender assassin, an unrealistic number of gay and lesbian demon summoners! That's my fantasy world. It's not talked about, because it's simply normal.

Irvine in particular I adore because I am nonbinary myself, but also because they are just so powerful, and they don't even know just how much yet!

I always disliked how many nonbinary characters in fantasy and sci fi are just token "they/them" body guards, robotic or asexual leaning non-humans, or quiet, unassuming love interests who only exist to show a character is pansexual or something.

Irvine was my love letter to my own identity because I thought hey what if there was a nonbinary character who just fucks shit up, every time they appear? What if there was an enby who just kicks ass and is sexily never showing their face, and wears a badass hood all the time?

And then Irvine was born. My little storm demon :)

So glad you find it unique too! I honestly was feeling so badly about it, after months of querying and beta swapping, and getting feedback from dozens of people who only found things to criticize as being too strange or too different or stylistically confusing.

I went through a year of being told it wasn't good, and-and I'm a little emotional and overcome with appreciation and gratitude to all the people who not only bought or downloaded the book while it was free, but who also actually read the whole thing, and found it GOOD.

in between the angst and the action and the blood-filled fist fighting and crazy sniper/melee battles, there is a lot of dark comedy!

I love dark comedy. I love satire.

As much as I love being edgy, I think a story without any humor at all is unbearable.

I want you to hurt with my characters...but you should also laugh with them! Laugh at them! Be amused by their stupidity...or by their cleverness.

Be charmed by their vulnerability, but also their insane, abnormal, bizarre points of view!

AAAAH, I'm so glad you found it funny AND heart-breaking!

That is exactly what I want every story of mine to be.

Okay, so. Hi Tumblr. I am a weirdo who somewhat likes to pay for services, if I can pay some small amount and not have to deal with ads and tracking and whatever, so blaze is basically up my alley in the form of just tipping the site $10 BUT I don't have anything of my own to advertise. So instead, this.

This is my favorite book. It was written by my best friend, who is a good, kind person and a great friend and deserves many good things. She polished this for 10 years and finally it got picked up by Tor. The plot is that the Emperor's mistress, Charm, has been tasked with finding which of his evil sons poisoned him. Kill him, kill them all if she has to, and the magic doohickey that binds her to the Emperor's command will unhook. But the story is about digging up and acknowledging all the gross parts of the past, and how women survive awful things, and dissociation after trauma, and NECROMANCY, and INTRIGUE, and sex work, and psychics, and corruption, and fuck the patriarchy and also fuck the way that winners get to write history. It's dark but not grimdark or exploitative; it's clever but not smug with itself. The titular Bone Orchard is literal, not some figurative "oh all YA books need to have bone or silver or raven..." (also this is not YA; YA's great too but this is not that) So if that's up your alley, see if your local bookstore has it, or your library. Or tell your friends if it's more up their alley than yours. Thanks. <3 As an aside, she is also a huge Dracula nerd (she read the covers off a library-bound copy) and I've been sending her people's posts about dracula daily and she has been cackling. Except for the ones with literary analysis -- those ones she has been screeching in agreement with, that YES THIS when someone else sees it.

If you want to read about a cis man with adhd who recently bought a lighthouse and wants to remodel it into a rental and the trans fisherman that wants to preserve the charm of his hometown and challenges him to give him three days to show why the town is better just the way it is you can buy As The Light Goes Out for $1.49. (+ a christmas themed short story for $0.50). (Loved it especially because it showcases the very serious issues that adhd executive dysfunction brings with it but felt very comforting doing so + the trans guy tops!)
