Various! Horror Reacting to their S/O Sleeping W/ Stuffed Animals
A/n- Let me know what character's I should do for the prompt next :D
Inspired by a previous headcanon set I did! If you want to read some quick ones for Billy/Stu, Brahms & Michael -> click here
T/W for some mild language + mentions of torture !! <3
This set includes: The Sinclair Brothers, Randy Meeks + Sidney Prescott
Taglist: @strawberry-moonpies —> let me know if you’d like to be added or removed from this list <3
Sinclair Brothers
None of them really mind <33 except Bo, he's a totaly stinker abt it >:(
Bo finds it weird and he lets you know that. he is literally the lamest partner when it comes to this . . . don't let his negativity bog you down tho, hun!! his brothers are far kinder on it, you don't need Bo's stupid reaction <3333
having said all that about Bo . . . there is some redemption for him!! when he starts noticing you acting funny or a little down around him, he realizes it's his doing and he has a lot of guilt & regret about how he acted.
he'll get you a plainer looking doll, or get Vin's help to sew something up for ya. He leaves it on your side of the bed and doesn't say a word about it . . . neither should you. Be appreciative of what he did, just don't tell him that. He'll just pretend he had nothing to do with it, and get all flustered.
Bo might be kind of a dick to you about it, but if anyone that's NOT him does it?? if someone's passing by and they think they just get free range on the language they use?? oh, hell no!
he has a few tricks up his sleeves, I promise <3 (these may, or may not, include more torturous methods when dealing with guests . . .)
Lester thinks it's mighty sweet!! an' he ain't got much to judge, he knows he's a lil weird. he don't mind ur weirdness tho <33
creativity seems to run in the family, cause sometimes he'll take the animals off the road 'n he likes to skin em and make lil furs out of em. not so much taxidermy . . . he ain't got the patience for that
and i bet he would ADORE to make ya a lil somethin from those critters <3
what's better than seeing your lover all safe and cozy, cuddled up with somethin-- than when that somethin is one of your own creations??
yeah ... nothings really better than that, huh? <3
Vincent's not one to judge on such a small thing. he's spent so much time feeling like the odd one out, for mannerisms and facial deformities . . . and you're so sweet and kind hun . . .
he'd hate to upset ya, especially over something so insignificant.
it brightens his day seeing you down in his studio space with him, while you happily watch him work, while holding a floppy-eared fuzzy pal close to ur arms <333
Randy Meeks
he thinks it's a little silly but mostly endearing <3
he won't poke fun at you . . . unlike certain Scream boys (cough cough Billy n Stu... cough cough)
randy loves doing little voice impressions, and my favorite concept is him playing around with ur stuffies and making them say silly things. or sometimes, since he's a bit of a romantic, but also awkward n nerdy he'd make them say things like "i love you" <3
Sidney Prescott
Tatum still has a ton of stuffies from when she was a kid, and some of her current faves are definitely ones that Stu have gotten for her
Sidney doesn't really sleep w/ any of her stuffies, but she does keep them out on her bed sometimes or on her dresser as like, decoration.
long story short -> she honestly gets it! sleeping with a stuffy is nice, and she wants you to sleep well <3 there is nothing wrong with ur stuffies <333
after the ghostface attacks!! she tends to be more closed off to other people, sort of weary, and isn't always good with contact/touch. the two of y'all's favorite way to sleep is in the same bed, next to each other, but cuddled up with ur comfort buddies instead of holding each other :'3

Dev Journal: Day 1
I’ve tried a few times at putting myself out there with my system, boss, level, and world design content. Every time I did it for feedback, or validation, because I was looking for a reason to go out and do it full-time. Well, I’m now fresh out of college, a year down the drain trying to find any job that matches my qualifications, and have nothing better to do than to take the hobby I’ve poured countless hours into and run with it. So now this blog is finally just going out there for myself; clean slate.
For anyone who finds themselves becoming an interested and long-time fan of my work, I’ll document where I’m starting from here. Like I said, I’m fresh out of college. Twenty-two years old with a degree in Statistical Analysis, and a sizable amount of coursework in Operations, Actuarial Math, and Physics to boot. All that aside, I’ve been a huge game nerd for 15 years, been writing worlds and systems for a decade, and have been a perma-DM of both Dungeons and Dragons as well as, now, Pathfinder for a sum total of 5 years and counting. Needless to say, I’m a nerd who wasn’t encouraged to write - so I did all the hard homework first to make time for it.
This blog is gonna start out kinda boring, it’s really just me documenting what I’m doing. In part so I can look back at it, in part so I have it all somewhere that can be seen, and finally just so I can put myself out there. Being nerdy doesn’t really score you a huge network until well after school. Eventually I’m hoping to put some of my old D&D content and notes as a DM and worldbuilder out there. Maybe someone will learn something, maybe not.
Regardless, today was Day One. My first steps to really becoming a game designer. I’ve always had a knack for level and world design. I like making things that feel meaningful and have something to add. I’ve also been infatuated with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim since I was in middle school. So me, who has no credentials in softdev or compsci, well how am I going to make myself stand out to game studios? I’m starting with the Skyrim Creation Kit, and hopefully I can make something good enough to play with the big boys in some of the large community projects.
Today is Day One, Project One: The Bookwyrm’s Vault.
When I think of Skyrim, I think of three things. Vikings, dragons, and the Jedi Greybeards. But when I think of my ideal fantasy, I think of the wizarding type of sorcery, I think of arcane dragons - long-lived individuals who have honed magic over generations. And who’s to say that the dragons of Skyrim can’t be this way, Parthurnax certainly is.
So I devised the idea of the Bookwyrm’s Vault. I’m still undecided whether it is a Dwemer ruin built around the den of a long-departed dragon, or a ruin which a dragon took interest in. Regardless of which, the goal of this dungeon, unlike many of those in Skyrim, is not to add a crawl through enemies to feed the martial prowess of so many of the races of Tamriel. It’s to instead create something once beautiful and tranquil.
Initially I thought to conform to the Dwemer dungeon stereotypes of long hallways with many guardian automatons and littered steamworks and metal scraps. I’ve decided instead to be less industrious and more mystic and monastic with this ruin, to design a great library of magic and lore, one that rivals the College of Winterhold. Perhaps some Dwarven Spiders, remnants of a bookkeeping system as degraded as the parchment, remain to provide a small inconvenience to the Dragonborn. Even maybe a few runes of fire and lightning protecting more secretive experiments, or lingering from the attempts to keep something else in. This is my level, my addition, and I want it to reflect my interests in fantasy.
Tumblr media
Now, today was my first day working with the Creation Kit. Panning with the MMB is a new experience, and wow could it use an efficiency update, but it is a decade-plus old piece of software, so I guess it gets a pass. For my first time working with the software, and having no clue what assets Skyrim actually uses, I decided to go pretty simple.
We start, as all subterranean dwellings must, with a passageway down and in to the earth, allowing all the room needed to carve out the great recording hall that is front and center. This room will, once populated, hold a dozen or more desks in varying states of repair and organization, and will have been where historically research of older tomes and transcription was done.
To the east of the recording hall, I’ve made a larger laboratory for more practical experimentation, which will feature a handful of crafting stations, like an alchemy and enchanting table, as well as maybe a staff enchanter if I feel inclined to make this mod require the Dragonborn mod.
To the west of the recording hall I plan to have a short hallway that connects a number of bedchambers, or private cells. A place to rest or study quietly.
Finally, to the south a passage leads further down. The door at the end of this passage will be locked, and I feel the key would be best kept in a well-warded chest in one of the private cells, as it leads to the special collections room.
Based on what I’ve seen of the assets library so far, I’m worried about making the special collections room because I had been hoping to make it a two-tiered library, but that may not be possible with the assets that exist and I certainly don’t have the experience to produce new ones. I may be able to use some of the components normally reserved for exteriors to get by, though. Only time will tell.

Ok, I have to ask because I have seen this for years here and I still don't understand really what exactly it is, what is this critical role thing? All I see is 7-8 people sitting around a table talking and like what? reading or improvising a script of a story? Are they actors? Players? Is it a show? An adaptation of videogame story or something? Is this an american thing? or a particular kind of roleplay game? I'm sorry I really am curious about it because it seems fun? but I kind of not understand it much 😅. I'm sorry if it's a stupid question 😬
Hey there! Not a stupid question at all!
Critical Role is a streamed (Twitch and YouTube) show where a group (seven players plus the game master) of professional American voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons (D&D or DnD for short), a tabletop roleplaying game.
CR is not scripted and relies almost entirely on the game master's storytelling and the players' huge roleplaying talent. Each actor plays a character of their own creation and the game master not only guides them through the story he invented, but also plays every character the players engage with during the game.
It's hugely successful because of every cast member's insane talent and also because you can really see that they're a tight group of friends who have an immense amount of fun playing. They do it for an audience, yes, but have made it very clear that above all they're doing it for themselves, because they love it. The money helps 😉 (as it would for anyone lbr). It's 100% creator-made, which means no iffy big corp business, and made with love.
They started out with a buggy stream on Geek & Sundry and now have their own company with a studio and super professional set, plus a publisher and a charity, etc. The stream is now flawless and doesn't hurt your ears, but what really keeps people returning week after week, the real power of Critical Role, is that same group of talented friends, that bunch of nerdy ass voice actors who still love catching the GM on an accidental innuendo, shriek at big reveals like a kid on Christmas morning, celebrate Nat20s like they just won the World Cup, and make silly fart jokes like the very first day.
Personally speaking, even when I don't like something, I keep coming back for them.

Howdy!
This is a post announcing the creation of Atticdotes. A blog presenting in-depth information about niche, nerdy stuff.
The first topic I'll cover is the history of Sukeban Games. The report will span the studio's inception up to their first project, VA-11 Hall-A. Due to the small number of staff, I will try to include biographical sections on all who have worked in or alongside the studio.
Lastly, I may have a small section on Sukeban Games' future. The section could be cut due to the lack of news from the studio in the last couple of years. While my preliminary research was basic, I did not find any definitive comments on the progress of N1RV Ann-A or other projects. An epilogue which frames the studio's future as uncertain seems unnecessary.

Day #2 - I'm not like other the girls
The other girls are better than me, but that's okay! I'll still take inspiration from them. There are a few amazing games that I'm taking inspiration from to create my own whodunit:
1) This one shouldn't really be part of my benchmark, but I can't help to include it. I was a kid when Riddle School games started to come out. These games came with short notes from the creator talking abt his process. As a child, this was when I realized that 1 person could actually put together and create a game by themselves. I sensed so much detail and passion were put behind these small funny games. At the time, I did not have the skills, but the idea of making a silly little game stuck with me. From Riddle School, I hope to capture the nonsensical humor and subtle Easter eggs.
Tumblr media
2) Tangle Tower. This girl is definitely the one I have a crush on and want to be the most like. A whodunit with fun, vibrant colors, characters and a light-hearted approach to murder. I enjoy the balance of the point-and-click elements and the puzzles. Their UI is also my dream UI. I could never have such cool animations and character designs (my background is in programming), but this is definitely the vibe I want to go for in terms of aesthetics, storytelling and gameplay.
Tumblr media
3) Every creative person needs at least 1 insane-sounding idea. Disco Elysium gave me mine. While the premise involves a detective solving a murder, this game is hardly a whodunit. Still, there are a couple of elements I adored and need to become a genre. 3.1) The character creation of Disco Elysium is similar to DnD's, but I love how it ties into the gameplay. How different personality traits serve as your 'inner dialogue' and pressure you to act in different ways. Will you take the empathetic approach? The aggressive route? The reasonable stance? They also serve as modifiers, like in other tabletop games, and can be influenced by the items you pick up (e.g. nerdy glasses = extra intelligence). I'm not going for such an intricate system, nor am I thinking abt replayability too much (after all, it will always be the same culprit). That said, I do want a character creation mechanic. I want players to pick an approach (logic, empathy or brute force) and pick a couple items to help them solve some puzzles in alternative ways!
Tumblr media
3. 2) No thoughts, head empty! This is a tricky one for sure… The Thought Cabinet is a game mechanic that almost drove Disco Elysium's studio to bankruptcy. However, in an interview, one of the creators described it as "a crafting station for thoughts". This sentence made me think how cool it would be to have a crafting mechanic for murder theories/suspects. This would allow players to use testimonies and clues to craft theories at their own pace. Some theories could be wrong, and it would be up to the player to back them up with evidence until they had a sound explanation for all the events. I've drafted three approaches for this mechanic: The Minecraft Table, The Baba is You, and the one I will most likely go for.

And that this new work of Murakami could gain him favor in the otaku culture. Between the 20,000 avatars that will be released, Kizu notes that they interconnect and cross reference the breadth of the anime database. He admits that people may complain but that ultimately evolution is important. Chris talks about how they examined all the details of anime especially the eyes so that they could keep true to a certain aesthetic value, within this though they also wanted to evolve the image so that it represented a bit of the RTFKT taste as well. That there is a database of attributes that are used in the creation of anime which form a somewhat rigid structure and that Murakami falls outside of this. Kizu brings up how Murakami is a contemporary artist inspired by anime but not actually considered part of the otaku culture. The aesthetics of the CloneX project evolved out of a shared love for anime rather than trying to adhere to the tastes of a specific demographic. They also liked the challenge of making anime 3D and actually have it look good.
Clone x cross reference plus#
It all started when Ben and Chris started creating virtual influencers ( FN Meka) with this background, plus a need to be able to wear their products in the metaverse, a PFP project only made sense. Sabretooth notes that there are many PFP projects out right now in the NFT scene and asks Chris how they they came up with, CloneX.
Clone x cross reference Pc#
Kizu talks about the cultural shift between the need to look cool on and offline and how these worlds are merging.įor Chris who started as a nerdy PC gamer looking up to hip-hop culture, he says that he always knew that pop culture would eventually go in that direction how Clone X for him is bringing these worlds together. Chris says that him and Ben came into this because they wanted to make gaming cool. This is interesting as usually they are seen as being on the opposite sides of what is cool or fashionable.įor Chris, who has a love for gaming and otaku but also hip-hop culture, this highlights even more the synergy of why and how this collaboration came together. Kizu sees Murakami, especially in recent years, as merging the two worlds between hypebeast and nerd culture. The collaboration came about after the guys at RTFKT did an interview with Forbes Japan after which Murakami reached out with a DM of emojis. Starting in fashion, then later moving into the hip-hop industry (Murakami’s colaborations: LVMH, Supreme, Off-White, Kanye West, Ben Baller & Drake)Ĭhris responds that he only works with people he is a fan of and that their backgrounds (Chris, Zapatio, Ben & Murakami) all aligned, almost as if it were meant to happen. For Kizu he sees a lot of overlap between Chris and Murakami’s background. They returned to NFTs in late 2020 with their release of Cyber Sneaker on Superman. They got funded in 2019 by Galaxy Digital then later by GFR Fund and RTFKT launched in 2020. From there they teamed up with Zaptio to create a digital sneaker brand that could be forged for physicals. He then had the idea to put these skins on sneakers and was introduced to Benito through his friend Brock Hofer (Hyperbeast). In his view skins are the same concept as NFTs. Chris developed a lot of skins for the Steam Workshop Platform. From music industry to film he has done it all but always with an emphasis in visual effects (CGI or VFX background) then moved into game skins. Chris has worked in all forms of entertainment some of the artists e has worked with include Anderson Paak, NAS, and Rick Ross. Chris is the co-founder of Studio RTFKT and soon dropping CloneX, a collaboration with Takashi Murakami. Episode interview with Chris Le, find his Twitter check out his new avatar project dropping soon CloneX

Christmas Day
One day I’ll wake up and I won’t want to immediately feel like I’m going to die. Today is not that day, apparently.
When I blink my eyes open, the very first thing I see is Dodger’s furry face. He’s laying on the bed next to be with his head on my chest, staring intently at me like he’s been waiting for me to wake up. He does this constantly to Chris and I, and we always find it hilarious.
“Hi, baby.” I whisper, my voice hoarse from all the crying and the whiskey last night. I’m in our bed and to my immense relief, I’m dressed in a pair of soft sweats and a T shirt, which I have no memory of putting on.
After we got back here last night, I went straight to the liquor cabinet and poured us both a drink and put on A Muppet Christmas Carol and cried and bitched and ranted about how much of a bitch my mom was, and Chris just kept quiet and let me vent. At some point I remember almost falling asleep on the couch and Chris nudging me awake, and then....nothing.
I glance over at the nightstand and see that Chris plugged my cell phone in for me to charge overnight and there’s Advil and a gatorade sitting there. I don’t know how much good Advil is going to do since it feels like there’s an elephant sitting on my head, but what the hell.
After peeing and brushing my teeth and hair to at least appear somewhat human, I make my way to the kitchen and stop in my tracks. Lisa is standing at the stove making what looks and smells like french toast and bacon, and there’s coffee brewing. Chris is sitting at the dining room table (after the debauchery that occurred on top of it a week ago, I’m sincerely hoping that Chris went at it with a ton of Lysol) looking like he’d rather be anywhere else.
My fight or flight urge kicks in and I’m two paces into going back into the bedroom when I feel something soft but sturdy hit me in the back.
In a flash, Dodger is at my feet, devouring the croissant that Lisa threw at me.
“Not so fast. Get in here.” Lisa says. The look on her face and the tone of her voice leaves no room for argument. I turn back around and walk into the kitchen, leaning in to give Lisa a hug.
“I’m sorry. I should have called.” I say softly.
“Yeah, you should have. But that’s not why I’m here.”
The food finishes a a few minutes later and I help her plate it up and bring it to the table. Once we’re all seated, Lisa looks from me to Chris.
“So, who wants to tell me what the hell has been going on the past few weeks?”
“Mom-” Chris starts.
“No, save it. Something big is going on, and you’ve been lying to me about it. And I know you’re lying because you suck at it. And Scott knows what’s going on because every time I ask him about it, he looks like he’s about to puke. Now here’s what I know: you guys apparently had a fight. Kelly’s been staying with her brother in the city. I can’t get either one of you to tell me anything, which is a HUGE red flag, because neither of you have ever been shy about coming to me about anything. Now what is going on?”
I lace my fingers together and rest my fists under my chin.
I know this is going to kill Chris. And it’s going to kill Lisa. And it’s going to kill me to have to fucking hear the words come out of his mouth again. And there’s a good possibility that Lisa will kill Chris, or at the very least beat the piss out of him. There’s a whole lot of killing that’s going to happen.
Chris looks at me with such a profound sadness in his eyes that it nearly breaks my heart.
“Just tell her. Get it over with.” I say sadly.
“The reason Kelly hasn’t been here is because......” I watch as his eyes shine with tears and his adams apple bobs up and down in his throat. I close my eyes and try and brace myself for the words that brought my world down a few weeks ago. “I slept with someone. I cheated on her.” Lisa’s jaw drops and she looks to Chris, who’s barely keeping it together and then to me, my jaw clenched tight and my eyes closed.
Seconds pass without a sound. Then a minute. Then two.
“YOU DID WHAT?!”
Her gaze swings to me and I can see her eyes brimming with tears. She reaches across the table and grabs my hand, squeezing it tightly.
“I didn’t want anyone to find out until after the holidays. I didn’t want to ruin anyone’s Christmas.” I say softly.
I watch Chris swallow thickly.
“Honey-”
“No. You don’t get to talk right now. You were raised better than this. I raised you to be better than this. I’ve been proud of you you’re entire life, but right now.....right now I’m so disappointed in you I can barely stand it.”
Tumblr media
I take my coffee and my plate up to my office on the second floor, not wanting to be there or listen as Lisa lays into Chris. As it is, I can still hear her yelling without hearing what’s being said.
I knew everything was going to come out sooner or later. I just really wished that it would happen after the holidays. Between the disaster with my family last night, I guess it’s only fair that Chris has his turn.
There’s a knock on the door as I’m finishing my coffee, and Lisa opens the door a bit, and I can tell that she’s been crying.
“I don’t even know what to say.” she tells me softly as she takes a seat in the comfy armchair in the room.
“I don’t know if there’s really anything TO say.” I whisper.
“Honey, why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you talk to me? You didn’t have to go through this all by yourself.”
I pull my feet up on my chair and wrap my arms around my knees and look up at her.
“I could barely begin to process any of it myself. When he told me, I kind of just went on autopilot. I didn’t want to be alone; part of me was afraid of what would happen if I was alone. I knew that if I went to you or Shanna or Carly or any of our friends, it would all come out, and I wasn’t ready for that. I couldn’t stay here with him. So I fled to Connor’s. I kind of trashed the studio, then just shut down. That’s why Scott knows. Connor called him because I physically couldn’t get out of bed for four days. He came to check on me and laid with me for a few hours. I was ashamed. I AM ashamed.”
“Kelly, the only person here who should be ashamed is my son. He didn’t tell me any of the details, and honestly, I don’t want to know. I don’t know what the hell was going on in his head. I am so, so sorry about everything. I just....I can’t believe any of this.”
A thought pops into my head and I turn to her.
“How did you know I was here?” I ask.
“I didn’t. I had Scott start on dinner for today, and I came over, determined to get the truth out of Chris once and for all, no matter what. He told me you were here sleeping. He gave me the Cliffs Notes version of what happened at your parents’ last night.”
I scoff and roll my eyes. “Yeah, it was one for the books. I just couldn’t be around any of them last night. I just wanted to be here, at home.”
“What about now? Where do you want to be now?” Lisa asks.
“I don’t know. I’m so sorry for all of this happening on Christmas. I hate feeling like the holiday is ruined. I hate that you and Chris are fighting. I hate that Scott and Chris are fighting. I just wish we could have a nice Christmas and just pretend that everything is normal.” I tell her.
She takes my hands in hers and rubs them, warming them up.
“If that’s what you want, that’s what we can do. God knows I could wring Chris’ neck right now, but it’s Christmas. If you think you can handle it, and handle everyone, we can do it. I’ll hold everyone off on the questions for today. But you know eventually.....you and Chris are going to have to sit down and talk.”
“I know.”

No matter what it was. Paintings, sculptures, stories, pictures, creatures, whatever it was, Remus enjoyed it. Of course, Roman loved all those things as well, further cementing how similar the two were. But neither of them enjoyed thinking about that.
Logan's least favourite thing to do was create.
His area of expertise was things that were known. Things that were facts. He could tell you the history of a specific art form, tell you techniques that helped improve it, but every time he attempted to create any sort of art, it always came out looking...wrong. Not wrong in the way Remus' were, where something was just off enough that you could tell, but not enough to tell what it was. His creations were just objectively bad.
Remus didn't think that at all about his partner's art, but he wasn't sure how to get him to believe that. So, he made a plan.
During each of their weekly hangouts as a duo, they would take turns picking an activity for them both to do. Previous activities ranged from stargazing, to making explosives, to playing video games together. This week was Remus' turn, and he intended to use it well.
Right at 7pm on the dot, Remus heard a knock on his door. Opening it, he was greeted by the sight of his partner, smiling softly at him.
"Salutations, Rem."
"Oh get in here, you nerd."
After Logan stepped in the room, Remus immediately shut the door and spun around to face him.
“Ready for tonight, Lo?”
“Of course. What is it you have chosen for tonight?”
Remus gave him a sly smile. “You’ll see.”
With a snap, the two were transferred from Remus’ room to what looked like an art studio. It was messy, supplies crowding tables and floor alike, canvases leaning anywhere there was room. The walls were covered in murals and graffiti, forming beautiful but haunting images that were not easily forgotten. Finally, in the center of the room: two untouched easels and canvases, back to back from each other, and paints and brushes on the accompanying tables. Logan stared at the room in poorly disguised awe, as Remus bounced excitedly next to him.
“Remus this is...satisfactory.”
“Come on, nerdy wolverine! This place is pretty fucking cool, and we both know it!”
“...alright. It is, as you put it, ‘pretty fucking cool’.”
“Aw, I knew you loved me!”
“...I can not argue with those facts.”
After clearing his throat for a moment, Logan continued.
“Now, what exactly are we doing here?”
“Oh, right, I nearly forgot. Whoopsie!”
Remus dragged his partner over to the blank canvases, smiling broadly.
“Tonight, we’re gonna paint for each other! Whatever you want, no limits, just pure creating. Whaddya think?” He waited, anticipating Logan’s answer.
After a moment of hesitation, he nodded, and Remus sighed with relief.
“Well, get to work!”
And so, they began.
~
After a couple hours, Remus stepped back from his canvas. He had worked hard on this piece. Sure, it wasn’t one of his more...extravagant pieces, but it was for Logan, and he knew Logan would appreciate it.
On the canvas, a galaxy stared back at him. Blues and blacks and purples all swirled together to create space, while planets and stars were added with their bright colours of rock and gas. He had tried to keep everything as accurate as possible for Logan’s sake-he had been the one to teach him about space after all-but he allowed himself some creative liberties. After examining his creation for a moment, he snapped his fingers. There was still one tiny touch he needed to add. He flourished his hands dramatically, and sat back to watch the magic happen.
Slowly, the paint began to move on its own, swirling together, creating an almost glittery sort of look. The stars seemed to actually shine, the planets seemed to actually rotate around themselves, the colours changing slightly as they moved. The painting felt alive, as if it was a living, breathing, thing. Remus had always been good at adding little touches like this to his work.
He glanced over at his partner, seeing him still working. Feeling eyes on him, Logan looked up, meeting Remus’ eyes.
“Have you already finished, Rem?”
“Yep! How about you?”
Logan looked down at his painting for a minute. “I’m afraid I have not completed it yet, apologies.”
“No problem! I’ve had tons of practice, so it makes sense for me to finish first.”
“Correct. May I see what you've done?"
"Of course, Lo!"
He walked over and gasped in surprise when he saw the painting.
"Oh my, that is...satisfactory, Remus."
"Aww, I love you too, Lo!"
Logan blushed slightly, and Remus' grin grew.
"Hey nerd, can I see yours? Even if it's not done?"
"Of course, Re, though I'd have to warn you it isn't very good. Especially compared to something as magnificent as this. Objectively speaking, of course."
"Hey, I'm sure it's amazing. After all, you made it."
Remus walked around to Logans canvas and stared.
The painting was of an octopus. It was relatively simple, orange with bulging yellow eyes. Its tentacles floated around it, the suctions attached. A blue background of the deep sea was behind it, as the octopi rested on the seafloor. Remus noticed small things immediately, how it lacked the level of depth that his own did, or how the colours weren’t blended as perfectly as they could be.
He loved it.
“Lo! You never told me you were an artist!” He gasped dramatically. Sure, he was being a little over the top, but come on, he was creativity for drawing’s sake!
Logan adjusted his glasses as he spoke coldly, “There is no need to patronize me, Remus.”
Remus deflated a bit. He didn’t want his partner to think he was mocking him. He quickly reassured him.
“No Lo, I love it. Really.” He smiled, but Logan didn’t smile back.
“Remus, really. I mean, look at what you’ve done! It’s magnificent! And mine is...painfully mediocre.” He continued to look forward, but his posture sagged slightly, letting Remus know how upset he really was.
“Lo, it’s perfect because you made it. I, frankly, don’t give a damn about the technique or accuracy or anything else. All that matters is that you, my delightful dork, created this, and that’s enough to make me love it.”
“I...thank you, Remus,” Logan adjusted his glasses again, voice wobbling slightly. Remus chose not to comment on that, “that means a lot.”
“Oh, come here you nerd.”
~
Remus’ favourite thing to do was create.
No matter what it was. Paintings, sculptures, stories, pictures, creatures, whatever it was, Remus enjoyed it. But, his absolute favourite thing to do was create with Logan.
Logan's least favourite thing to do was create.
His area of expertise was things that were known. Things that were facts. He could tell you the history of a specific art form, tell you techniques that helped improve it, but every time he attempted to create any sort of art, it always came out looking...wrong. But, when he and Remus went to their studio, making art for one another of all different kinds, he began to not find his art so awful all the time. Remus helped change his perspective on it, and made him begin to enjoy it.
“Maybe,” he would say one day to his partner as they sat in the studio, mirroring their positions of their first time there, painting for one another, “maybe art isn’t so bad. When it’s with you, at least.”
And Remus would smile.

Do you have any super nerdy hobbies?
I guess it depends on how you define nerdy?
I still study history like I'm getting graded on it. I've been reading about economic history lately, particularly key moments in modern history that still shape current economic policy making! The advent of the automobile, the effect of major motion picture studios in the 30s and onward, systemic changes made in response to equality movements for people of color and women... it's pretty wild. Just look up the timeline for the creation of the credit score.
I guess that is pretty nerdy. 😅
Otherwise, I think my hobbies are all creative ones: photography, writing, drawing, calligraphy.
(I don't know when you sent these, bc tumblr is terrible but I just saw them!)

MUST READ FOR DESIGN ASPIRANTS
What is Design
Design is the practice of intentional creation to enhance the world. It is a field of doing and making, creating great products and services that fit human needs, that delight and inform. Design is exciting because it calls upon the arts and humanities, the social, physical, and biological sciences, engineering and business.
Design thinking comprises strategies for finding and solving problems by bringing an understanding of people and society to technology design, focusing upon finding the correct problem before rushing to a solution. We believe that design thinking skills will be a key success factor for a new generation of creative leaders in technology, business, and education.
Design's purview has widened from its historical focus on artifacts to its new, expanded role in developing services and experiences, and improving sustainability, health, and education. In earlier years, designers were trained in form, function, materials, and aesthetics. Today, culture and emotion are central, plus knowledge of societal issues, techniques for subtle persuasion, and the intricacies of complex, interdependent systems. Design education must change.
Design is a field of doers and makers. In the practical world, successful products and services require generalists who can cut horizontally across many of the deep, vertical specialties. Generalists cannot succeed without close collaboration with specialists, while the knowledge of a specialty is too limited to create an effective service or product for people without the aid of design generalists.
Is Design for Me ??
Weird is good :
Students are attracted to design in the first place because they see the world in a different way, slightly askew. They are weird. Most of them have heard this many times in their lives—and it was not intended as a compliment. But Weird is good; it’s an anomaly and it’s unique. If you look at any “successful” person, they are probably being paid to play out the goofiness or athleticism or nerdiness or curiosity they already possessed as a child. Unfortunately for most people, somewhere along the road their weirdness was taught out of them or, worse, shamed out of them. Crushed by the need to “fit in,” they left their quirks and special powers behind. But it is our flaws that make us interesting. We need to not only hang on to them, but hone them. I don’t try to make my students “Designers.” Weird is good, but only if we put it in your work.
Design is not math. This is what makes the work hard. There are no right answers and very few wrong answers. Design is more as an innate skill set that we are born with—a small ember waiting to be coaxed into a larger flame. If you know  how to use your  brains, to make your senses of association and imagery sharp and flexible and urge them to seek their own way and express their individuality and push yourself to think for self, form an opinion—and know that your opinions matter. Essentially, you have to “learn” to be yourself  and put it in your work.
DESIGN EDUCATION – A PARADAIGM SHIFT
“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”
In today’s dynamic world, it is imperative to monitor and map trends that have far-reaching impact on the larger society and the resulting implications on preparing design students. Definitely the future requires a different skill set. Employers are more and more looking towards hiring quick learners who can easily swing from one role to another and in the process be more productive for an organization; a definite shift from specialized subject skills that are the primary outcome of a design education, towards life skills.
With the ever changing job market and the industry, flexible ‘new age’ courses are gaining favour among learners as compared to traditional courses and skills. Learners of today are increasingly opting for non-mainstream new age alternate career options.
The role of design and of designers is increasingly shifting towards innova- tion, creative problem-solving, co-creation and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Designers are increasingly invited to the table to tackle complex business, social, and environmental problems that require much more than a visual solution. Design in these contexts is more complex than styling or making; it is an iterative process of redefinition that often produces products, services and experiences that continue to evolve over time.
Design is no longer an elite and exclusive language of luxury products, brands, and services. In this capacity, a designer is no longer viewed as privileged genius, but rather as a strategic partner in a range of contexts from startups to large corporations and governments.
Fortune 500 companies that are not design studios or digital products are creating new positions at the executive level that place emphasis on design. It is becoming common to see designers at the top with titles like Chief Design Officer, Chief Creative Officer or VP of Design at companies like Hyundai-Kia, PepsiCo, Capital One, Johnson & Johnson, and 3M
future needs are also an urgent need . This reiterates that there is a need to reconstruct the education model towards inter-disciplinary approach and revolutionize curriculum by merging and making them more progressive, responsive, real-time, and learner driven (what will industry offer and student readiness for it). A shift from:
·       Disciplinary to inter-disciplinary/ multi-disciplinary;
·       Specialized to holistic
·       Fixed path learning to flexi path approach
·       Product based to systems based
Employability trends: expectation from a young graduate
We are driven by economy of sales and economies of time, which are changing fast and so are the related needs and expectations. ‘Those whom the left-brain corporate masters tolerated as an interesting distraction but not really relevant to the main game, are now not only becoming the main game, they’re rewriting its rules. Designers who were once the barbarians at the gates now have the keys to the kingdom
In a qualitative study, over the last one-year, many design professionals and educators in India were spoken with through formal/ informal interactions in the form of focus group meetings and one on one discussion. These professionals were experts from various domains including product design, accessory design, fashion, visual and interactive communication, advertising, media and journalism, sports management, hotel management. Some important insights were brought forth.
When hiring a fresh graduate, design professionals look for relevant skills and capabilities over degrees. During interaction with industry experts, most of them stated that there is not much distinction in recruiting masters and bachelor level graduates. The preferred candidate should be well aware and be able to incorporate global as well as local factors while demonstrating responsibility towards ethical practices in design delivery.
With continuously changing scenario and the organization structure also altering from clear verticals to network based structure, there is a need for GENERALISTS rather than Specialists, who adapt from one role to another. There is a need for people who will solve BUSINESS PROBLEMS and not just design problems. Graduates should showcase the ability to develop new innovative ideas or improvement to products and processes. They should be able to develop and apply strategic thinking, critical analysis leading to innovative user centred responses.
Looking at the future trends, there is an increased demand for those who can effectively collaborate/connect and work in trans-disciplinary teams, while understanding the importance of individual role and responsiveness in an engaging and collaborative learning environment. There should be increased emphasis on research to generate wise designers who act more as consultants than as pure designers (as they are traditionally described)
Industry prefers to hire graduates with enthusiastic ‘ATTITUDE’ and appropriate ‘SKILLS.’ Experts further elaborate attitude as:
·       Risk taker, challenge the norms, entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, embracing (open to change and ideas), bring passion to work, patience, multi-tasker, and partnership with technology.
·       Graduate should be passionate about the area of specialization, should show ownership of the creative idea and be excited by it. He/she should have the thinking acumen, should be good with people, should be creative, insightful and a planner. Passionate people with fresh ideas. People who love their work – be proud – be able to say ‘wow’
·       Person not desirous of being in their box
·       Awareness of the ecosystem - Curious about what’s happening in ‘design’. Understand what’s happening in the world
·       Exposure, Willingness & Adaptability: Ability to adapt and quickly pick up nuances of change
·       Wanting to integrate mediums

Digging a Little Deeper
In my last post I made a list of all the topics that I enjoy enough to feel they have a shot at becoming my brand, so to speak. I talked a little bit about Writing and why I think it’s going to end up being my primary focus...
Writing has been a long term passion of mine, probably the longest lasting with the exception of animals and nature. I also think it would be the best outlet for all the various things that I enjoy, because then I can work on individual books that cover the topics I love even if I don’t love them enough to make a career of them. Writing gives me the freedom to jump around a bit, to dabble in a little bit of everything without losing focus.
...but I neglected to talk about anything else in the same kind of depth. Why do these other topics have a shot at being my brand? What about them do I like, and more specifically if they did become my brand, what kind of content would I be making? These are rather general topics, so let’s go over them one by one the same way I did with writing:
Art (in various forms)
I’ve done all sorts of art from drawing and painting, sculpting, and photography all the way to glass blowing, jewelry making, and woodworking. I have basic sewing knowledge, I’ve played with resin a little, and I’m up for a DIY project pretty much anytime be it to improve my wardrobe or the space I live. I’ve discovered through my many years of trying different types of art here or there that as fun as two-dimensional art (drawing, painting, photography) is and can be, I prefer working with three-dimensional creations. Something I’ve wanted for years (about a decade now) to do is create dolls of my characters to use in photography that can act as the illustrations in books I write. If I were to make art my brand, it would be an adventure of trying new things and sharing my various creations, probably with a focus on these dolls and making art for my books, the secondary focus being on DIY projects for my wardrobe and home.
Animals
I love pretty much all animals (’cept wasps lolz) and I really love learning about them and sharing what I know. I think it would be a meaningful thing to get educated and share that knowledge, and I would be very humbled to get the opportunity to do something important and help animals however I can. One thing I’ve always wanted to do, but simply have not had the time nor means to do so, is volunteer at a wolf-dog shelter about an hour or so away from where I live.  Another direction that I feel I could easily go is getting into betta fish and/or ball python breeding. I’ve often had bettas present in my life, and I’ve almost always wanted a snake, particularly a ball python, so both creatures are something I’ve on-off considered breeding as a hobby, if I ever had the opportunity. I don’t know if I’d make a career out of it, I’ve never looked into it as anything more than a hobbyist, but I would definitely not be mad if it went that way.
Reviews (Books, Shows, and/or Movies)
My favorite genre, my bread and butter, is high fantasy, but second to that I probably read philosophy and supernatural fiction the most. When it comes to movies, I’m a big Disney fan, but my favorite types of movies are stop motion, hand-drawn animation such as Studio Ghibli or older animated movies, and I’m not sure what I’d call them, but films that implement puppetry and less CGI and such, films like The Neverending Story, the Dark Crystal, etc. Shows I enjoy range from drama and romance to comedy and horror, and I’m not ashamed to admit there are some really great cartoons and anime out there. I’m a theater geek and was a techie in high school, so I get nerdy over set design and ambiance and soundtracks, and would undoubtedly talk about that background stuff too. I don’t think I’d make a very good reviewer, but I think it sounds like a lot of fun, and I’d like to do it for the sake of the fun alone whether it becomes what I’m known for or not.
Video Games
I strongly doubt that this would become my brand/focus, but I really love video games and think no matter what direction I end up going in, I’ll likely still make Let’s Play videos and maybe even video game reviews just because it’s something enjoyable and fun to do. I strongly prefer playing games with my fiance and friends like Don’t Starve Together and Minecraft, but I also like playing games on my own too. I particularly like medieval-style RPGs, slice of life games like The Sims or those silly dating simulator games, and Nintendo, most particularly the Legend of Zelda series and Pokemon.
Gothic Subculture & Fashion
If I had the luxury of having enough money to truly express myself with complete and utter vanity, I would do a huge wardrobe rehaul and deck myself out as badass as It’s Black Friday. Everything would be black on black on black, and I’d live in my dark little black on black on black world with minimal if any color. However, my wardrobe currently is nothing spectacular and my fiance could not stand to live in all black the way I could, so I don’t think I’m in a position to dive into this world all in the way I’d like to. I strongly doubt it’ll become my brand, but rather it’ll be the primary aesthetic I strive for and will likely slowly develop over time.
Philosophy (Neo-Paganism) | Gender Studies (minus feminism)
Both of these topics are things that I have learned a great deal about and have personal, life-changing experiences within. They are also highly personal, controversial things to talk about, and don’t always jive well with people. There’s a particular crowd that these things get discussed with, and while I am a part of that crowd and am not afraid to talk about these things, I’m probably just going to leave my opinions about these things in places where they are more appropriate to discuss them, like Quora. Because I’m so passionate about them, I will likely talk about them in time, but I just don’t know if I’m comfortable attempting to make a career out of either thing. If I do, I think I’d be a lot more inclined to talk about philosophy and spirituality than I would about Gender. Even though I don’t know if I want it to be my main point of focus, I do think it’s important to share my opinions and perspective on these very personal things, perhaps by writing books about them at some point. I guess we’ll just see how much people hate me sharing more about this side of me haha
Music
As much as I love music, I know it won’t be my brand. The most I do regarding music is post good music to my instagram. I don’t play any instruments, and I’m not tone-deaf or anything, but regardless of that, at my very best my voice is simply average, so it’s not like I ever imagined I’d be making music. I might write some songs if I think I can even do that, but one this is for sure - I will talk about good music here and there, especially since my favorite genre (gothic metal) is fairly niche and deserves a little bit of a shout out.
The Furry Fandom
In my previous post I said that my prediction for the topics that are most likely going to be my brand are Writing, Animals, and Art. Well the furry fandom is pretty much made up of animal-loving artists of all kinds and sorts, writers included. So needless to say, I could very easily end up becoming a furry influencer, since it encompasses a good portion of the things I love doing, and is the fandom I’m most involved with as well. I wouldn’t be mad in the slightest if this ended up happening, and I have a hard time believing that my followers won’t end up being made of majority furs anyway. If I had continued my list beyond the top 3 predictions, the furry fandom would have been the fourth listed for this reason.
Hunting | Gardening | Food & Cooking
I’ve learned a lot about the food industry, and I’d like to learn a lot more and be more proactive in changing my lifestyle for the better in order to get away from all the processed, typical American diet shit out there that’s tainting our food. So basically for years now I’ve had this vision and goal for my lifestyle. I want to be a hunter, then I want to go vegetarian (may even vegan idk) with the only source of meat I consume being my own personally hunted game, or I guess maybe locally sourced meat from ethical farmers and such. I’d also like to learn a lot of skills that a good for a hunter to know, like leather-working, taxidermy, and skeletal articulation so that I can utilize all of the resources, not just the meat. I’d ideally like to have my own goats for milk, otherwise only drinking nut milk (preferably homemade), and my own chickens for eggs. I’d like to have a small farm where I grow as many of my own fresh ingredients as I reasonably can, and with all those good and healthy resources, I’d like to become a better at home chef. I’ve just never had the land or money to do all this with, so I’ve kinda put that goal on the back-burner while I focus on my career and finances first. Undoubtedly, however, I will learn more and talk more about this stuff as I get closer to accomplishing these goals, cook more, and hopefully get the money and means to learn more about it and actually become a hunter.

Niall geeking out on audio equipment is a big ol nut.
IT 🗣 REALLY 🗣 IS!!! 🗣🗣🗣 just saying but my ultimate nerdy NH2 promo dream (which I've talked about at LENGTH with rand) is for niall to do some sort of long-form track-by-track breakdown of the album, similar to what picture this did for their newest album MDRN LV. talking thru each song and the inspirations, stories from the studio, technique, easter eggs, and all kinds of super interesting BTS shit. OR he could some kind of music based podcast like Song Exploder where they talk thru the creation of a song start to finish. just SOMETHING where niall can nerd out about all that stuff he normally doesn't go into because he thinks people aren't interested in it

Weekend Top Ten #386
Top Ten Coolest Things About SDCC 2019
So another SDCC has come and gone, and with it a cavalcade of nerdy news. This was a weird year, as there were some simply huge pop-culture-defining announcements, but for my money it was all about Marvel, which was to be expected; other epoch-shaking revelations were thinner on the ground, I feel. There was less of a comics presence, which I know is often a criticism of SDCC nowadays, as it has become an arm of the movie business really. But all the same, without a cinematic DC presence, and with choice animated fare such as My Little Pony essentially taking a year off, the sheer gravity of the MCU consumed almost all else.
However, what a gravity! And there was stuff, great stuff, surprising stuff. So here we go: my top ten things from SDCC.
Tumblr media
Marvel Rules the Universe: I mean, this was it really, wasn’t it? A lot of stuff we knew, a lot we sort-of knew, but plenty that was an outright surprise. Biggest moments? Natalie Portman back as The Mighty Thor; Mahershala Ali as Blade; “The Multiverse of Madness”; What If…? I could go on. I expected it to be supreme, and it was. Make Mine Marvel.
Picard’s Triumphant Return: Unquestionably the TV event I’m most excited for, seeing Sir Patrick Stewart as an older, sadder Picard is a highlight. Intrigue, action, and Seven of Nine. And Data! Data! I’d long predicted the plot would centre on Picard trying to save/resurrect Data, and that sure seems to be the case, doesn’t it? although I’m still holding out for Q…
Tremendous Transformers Toys: Absolute Unit Unicron is just phenomenal. The scale of it, the accuracy, the price… but I’m just as giddily happy that Rung has a toy. Rung, the creation of James Roberts, who first appeared in his own fan-fiction. That’s just lovely.
Brandon Routh’s Back Behind the S: Now this was a surprise: the Arrow-Verse is doing Crisis on Infinite Earths, and low and behold, Brandon Routh – who was brilliant in the often weird and a bit disappointing Superman Returns – is back playing the Man of Steel. Return he very well will. It’s the Kingdom Come version of Superman apparently, so we’ll see what that’s like.
Will the Real John Connor Please Stand Up: Who is the Terminator franchise’s John Connor? After Edward Furlong gave one of the greatest child-star debuts in Terminator 2, he’s been played by a different actor in every film. But now, surprisingly, OG John is back, back, back, in the increasingly-curious Dark Fate. Also nice to see Arnie on stage!
Party Like it’s 1984: I have a funny feeling that Transformers ’84 might have been teased or something beforehand, but all the same it’s great to see Simon Furman back writing a Transformers book, with classic artist Guido Guidi too.
Nice Job, Agents: Agents of SHIELD is ending, which is to be expected. Rumoured, I think, before the conference, and confirmed on stage. From a rather inauspicious and derided first season, it rallied, producing some great TV and very fine character arcs. I think at this point any pretence it’s set in the main MCU is out the window, but it was a good show with a good run.
Trailermageddon: Blimey, where to start? Not including stuff I’ve already mentioned, we’ve got The Witcher, His Dark Materials, the new Harley Quinn animated series… I have to say, the calibre was high and the majority of the trailers dropping in SDCC week was very impressive.
Kylo Rises: This was a surprise: the story of Ben Solo’s fall to the Dark Side will be told, not in a mainline Star Wars movie, but in a Marvel comic. The Rise of Kylo Ren will – presumably – fill in all the blanks. I’m actually quite pleased we don’t need this in a film; it should either have been the spine of the trilogy or ignored entirely, along with Snoke and Rey’s parents…
I Really Need to Watch Duck Tails: The rebooted Duck Tails remains one of the best-looking shows I’ve not seen yet, and the teaser poster for the upcoming season is bananas. With characters from Darkwing Duck, Tailspin, Rescue Rangers, and more, Duck Tails is looking like the MCU of ‘90s Disney animation. Goofy’s there, too, looking very Goof Troop, although I don’t see Max. Anyway, this is incredible and I really need to watch it.
As I was sorta saying earlier, it was a funny year in that a lot of it was predictable, and yet also surprising. As far as my predictions went from a few weeks ago, I was on the money in the broad sense, although my specifics were a little off. Yes, Marvel announced a slew of Phase Four goodies, showing footage from Black Widow and giving us firm release dates and parading their A-list cast around; but we didn’t get a Loki trailer, for instance, and my out-there picks (Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel!) were out-done by other weirdness (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a title I guarantee no one predicted). Yes, we did sorta get the tiniest tease of Discovery season three; we sort-of have new Transformers (especially with the confirmation that the Constructicons-centric mini is now an ongoing focusing on side-characters); and there were plenty of trailers, although nothing yet from the Thrones spin-off. SHIELD is wrapping up, but I think the writing was on the wall there. And my predictions for Teen Titans-related stuff were, I think, pre-empted, although I didn’t know it at the time; we are indeed getting a straight-to-video movie starring the Teen Titans Go! cast as well as the OG Teen Titans from the noughties. Two Robins with one stone.
Anyway, maybe not the most vintage of vintage years, but when a company the size of Marvel Studios is putting out films with titles like Thor: Love and Thunder, you’ve got to tip your hat to them. We’re past the Endgame now, people. Who knows what comes next?
