We shouldn’t assume a trainer’s - or any health professional’s - health status just by looking at them. In fact, we shouldn’t judge ANYONE’s health status just by looking at them.
The way they look has NOTHING to do with their capabilities and knowledge.
Also, just because someone is in a bigger body, it doesn’t mean they are unhealthy.
Health is multi faceted and there is no one way to be “healthy”.
But even if that fitness professional wasn’t “healthy”, it doesn’t mean they’re a bad trainer and not capable of helping those around them set health related goals and program workouts.
Also, a trainer’s fitness abilities - whether they are “fit” or not - doesn’t affect how good they are at their job or the skills and knowledge they have.
Many things can affect someone’s fitness level. Having to take care or a loved one, injuries, needing to train differently, getting sick, healing their relationship with exercise, etc might all mean that person has less time to move their bodies which can affect their fitness level.
That doesn’t change how good and qualified of a trainer they are.
To the person who made that fatphobic tweet, how dare you undermine trainers that don’t look like the “fitspo norm”.
How do you think your fat clients feel when they read your tweet?
Stop perpetuating weight stigma by encouraging the thin = healthy or “in shape” rhetoric

A strong back will take you far in life. Head over to @kbkliving.fit to watch our master trainer, Marcus, demonstrate for you. While most people are out there focusing on their “mirror muscles” you’re doing your rows and building a healthy, resilient, muscular back. The row is a compound movement that hits your back, shoulders, arms and core. When programming rows it’s important to maintain a 2:1 (or even 3:1) ratio of pulling to pressing. This will help alleviate imbalances and specifically shoulder issues. A stronger front side because of years of pushing horizontally and vertically can lead to rounded shoulders and less than optimal posture which will eventually lead to pain. A strong back from top to bottom will help alleviate postural issues and create a solid foundation for heavier lifting. I love arm balances. It’s funny cause as a child my wrists were so weak I had to wrap them for gymnastics & tennis. As an adult it took a few years to build up the type of arm strength to be able to not ever feel like I wouldn’t get through the next chattarunga or like my wrists wouldn’t fail holding me up for a period of time. This past year I dealt with a ganglion cyst in my right wrist which caused intense pain & forced me off my wrists for a while. I had the wrist drained, then shot up w steroids to hopefully prevent it coming back. I was told in no uncertain terms I likely would eventually refill it through use & have to have surgery on my wrist to remove. (so that’s probably in my future down the line) For now I try to absorb some of the weight into my fingertips which have become fairly strong. Crow featured here is far from my best but this day of play and flow was really about trying to do yoga I hadn’t been working in a while to access where my body is at & where I’d like to see it go. I love this pose because it was the first one that made me feel like I could literally hold the world in my hands! I felt so strong! Triceps and abdominals is what this pose is about from a position of strength but I feel like it is also this pose that feels liberating in every way! Maybe you’ve wrestled with injuries or setbacks too. How did it feel when you had to come back to the things you love with caution?
