You Left Me - You Miss Me - 4
Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four
Hi, time for more, arguably making things better, but also arguably making things much worse.
----
There was a diner a block and a half from their apartment. Steve found it when the sky opened up during his jog one morning. Snow, he could have handled, he was dressed for it. Slushy sleet mixed with hail was another matter. He ducked inside to hide until it passed, chatted with the owner for a bit, and brought Robin with him the next day because they had an amazing spread of waffle toppings, including crumbled bacon, and Steve knew she’d go crazy about it.
He was correct, and it was their go to spot, not just for breakfast.
At the end of January, Rebecca sat down to join them, and handed Steve an application.
Steve was already working at a JC Penny in the stock room, and picked up a few hours at a roller rink filling in when someone called out. They had enough money to live. Not decadently, but they could cover all their bills, and keep gas in the car, and buy supplies for Robin’s classes.
“Uh, Rebecca, I’m- thank you? But. My memory sucks, and my hearing isn’t great, and if someone starts getting rude, I’m going to get rude back to them, and --”
“This is a diner, hun,” she stopped him, “You write the orders down, you can always tell someone to say it again, and the fact you can shut down anyone that gives you lip is why I think you’ll be good at it. Like I said, it’s a diner. We don’t have to be all sunshine and daisies here.”
“I’m working at another--”
“Over at the mall and the rink, I know. And I know you’re free Monday through Wednesday mornings. And,” she stressed, “staff gets free meals and first dibs on the day olds.”
“Dingus!" Robin gasped and grabbed his arm. "Do it, do it. Stevie. Please, oh my god, please, you have to take it. You can bring me the brioche buns. And that apple butter. And that thing with the nuts! Steeevveee, don’t you love your soulmate? Please? I cou--”
So Steve took the job, and worked a few mornings a week. By the third week of February, he stopped feeling like he was going to fuck up any second. He understood why Rebecca liked his ability to get bitchy in the face of difficult customers, and he and Robin had cupboards well stocked with random take homes.
He liked it. Starting at five in the morning took some getting used to, but he was done by one, and traded off with a middle aged mom named Susan after the lunch rush settled down. Was it a ton of money? No. But he got more tips than he expected to, and the brioche really was delicious.
The last week of February, he was working alone on a Tuesday, at the start of the lunch rush, expecting Susan to arrive soon, and an easy day.
“Be with you in a minute,” he called to whoever just came inside, bussing half a dozen empty plates from table two after dropping off more creamer at table four. He looped back, ducking behind the counter to put the plates on the pass through for Nick to grab.
He dropped the entire stack before he got there.
His hands clenched down, his muscles locked, and even though it should have made him hold harder, everything slipped, and either shattered on the tiles or banged into his feet.
Jim Hopper winced from his seat at the counter. “Sorry, kid.”
The couple of other diners glanced up to check on him, and John looked around the window from the kitchen. Steve didn’t move. Couldn't. Could barely breathe.
“Is it back?”
“No.”
His exhale shook out of him before he shoved down the panic.
“Then whatever this is can wait.”
“I’m just here to talk.”
“And I said it can wait.”
He swept up the broken dishes, shrugged off John’s silent offer to throw Hopper out, and reminded himself there was no reason to think that the Upside Down was back. That meant this was going to be more awkward and less dangerous, and he was going to hate it, but it was still the better version of the day.
“What’ll you have?”
“Kid, I’m here to talk cause I didn’t think you’d want me at your place.”
“And I’m at work, and this is a diner, so what’ll you have?”
“Steve--”
“I’ll bring you coffee. I’m not talking about this while I’m working.”
“Coffee’s good. When are you off?”
Steve gave his bitchiest smile, didn’t answer, and went to seat the couple that just walked in.
The lunch rush was a mercy. Susan handled Hopper, and gave him the iciest service anyone had ever gotten under that roof. Hopper took it gracefully, but he didn’t shift, or push, or give any indication that he wasn’t willing to sit there til midnight if he had to.
Normally, Steve would get some lunch to go and head home. If the weather was bad, he ate at the booth in the corner to wait it out. With the way his stomach was twisting, unable to separate Hopper from what his arrival could mean, he wasn’t going to keep food down. He filled a glass of water, then silently gestured Hop to follow.
“Good to see you, Steve,” he said when they sat. “You and Robin doing okay up here?”
“We’re fine. Why are you here? If it isn’t something to do with, you know, then why are you here?”
“Maybe I just came up to check on you.”
“Did you?” Steve snorted into his drink when that question made Hopper’s face twist up. “So what is this?”
“I am here to check on you. There’s something else, but I came here because I’m checking on you. Me and you weren’t all that close, but you had Mrs Buckley give me your info so I’d know where you were.”
“Yeah, in case of an emergency. And you said there wasn’t any emergency. Plus, you had my phone number, so you could have called, which would be way less weird than showing up while I’m at work, you know?”
Hopper scratched at his cheek. “It’s not an emergency compared to all the reasons you wanted me to be able to find you, but if you ask those kids, this may as well be the end of the world again.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “Yeah, right.”
“Yeah, well. Henderson is gonna get himself arrested if he keeps trying to steal the mail and find something addressed to you. Max keeps pushing El to try and find you. The only reason they haven’t gone completely crazy is because of the Buckleys telling them that you’re fine. She gave me your address and number, and she talked for a little bit about the kids.”
Steve smiled at that. Mrs Buckley had never talked a ‘little bit’ about anything in her life. Either she was holding the line on being rude to anyone that might bother them, or Hop was pretending he hadn’t listened to a solid hour of rambling.
“Still haven’t told me why you’re here.”
“Want to ask if I can -- shit, I don’t know. I can route mail back and forth so they never have your address or something. I’d rather give them your info so I don’t have to be involved, but I already know you won’t agree to that.”
Steve ignored the pause that Hopper left there. Conversation and good manners said he should concede to something so he wouldn’t inconvenience the man too much. The last month with Robin supporting his choice kept his mouth shut. She’d be pissed at him if he folded, and worse, she’d help him get through all the pain it caused if he did talk to the kids again. Then he’d feel guilty and sad.
“Alright,” Hopper grumbled, “Didn’t think you would, but you know how those kids can be. Can’t fault me for trying.”
“So, we’re done? You sat here all this time just to talk for three minutes?”
“Almost.”
“So….” At least Steve could enjoy the fact that neither of them were enjoying this.  Hopper winced a bit before he spoke.
“I didn’t tell any of the kids I was coming up to see you. None of them knew, and none of them are gonna know. Didn’t even tell Joyce why, just that I was driving up to Indy. Already had a plan in case they tried to tail me up here. So, had a surprise this morning when I got to my truck. it might change your answer.”
“Didn’t know you were so dramatic about stuff.”
“Side effect of two hours with that surprise, I guess. Eddie Munson came up with me.”
Any of the kids would have hurt.
Henderson might have made him cry.
Eddie Munson? That didn’t make sense.
They weren’t friends, never had been. The Upside Down meant they were connected, but they were never more than acquaintances, even when Steve was desperately trying to keep them all close. Sure, he’d taken over as the chauffeur for the kids, and everyone’s new best friend, but that didn’t explain why he’d bother to come up to talk to Steve.
“What the hell? Why?”
“He asked.”
“And you said yes.”
“He said please.”
That was not the whole story. There was something getting skipped over, left out. Hopper tolerated Munson, but he wouldn’t do him a favor if there wasn’t some kind of monster involved.
“Wait, you’ve been here for two hours.”
“Yep.”
“Did you just leave him in your truck this whole time? That front came through overnight. The high is thirty four today.”
“Yeah, I did,” Hopper said flatly. “He told me he wanted to come up so he could talk to you. Told me a little bit about why. And I said yes and I let him come, but I told him that I was gonna talk to you first. If you said no, he was gonna stay in that seat clear back to Hawkins, and keep his mouth shut about this whole thing.”
“How’d he know what you were doing?”
“No clue.”
“What does he want to talk about?”
“Not gonna say it for him.” Hopper shifted towards the edge of the booth. “So, want me to tell him to buckle back up, or tell him to get his ass in here?”
A quick consult with the imaginary Robin in his head left him just as confused, but curious as hell. He agreed, and fidgeted with a napkin, struggling to think of any reason why Eddie Munson would want to talk to him, or what the hell he said that the kids hadn’t that convinced Hopper to drive him up.
Stuck in his head, Steve jumped when a mess of a man in denim and leather slid shivering into the seat opposite. The scars on his face and hands were less vivid than they were last time they saw each other, but they still worked as a thermometer. Steve's did the same.
“Why the hell were you sitting in the cold, man?”
Eddie blinked, and froze where he was rubbing his hands together trying to get feeling back. “Hopper took the keys.”
Steve’s turn to blink. This was the guy taking care of his kids.
“Susan?” He called, gesturing for two when she lifted the coffee carafe in a question.
“You don’t need to do that.”
“Dude, I don’t know what the hell you’re doing here or why you care or what the hell is happening, but I’m not gonna let you sit there shaking cause you’re a dumbass who doesn’t know what gloves are.”
Steve watched packet after packet of sugar pour into Eddie’s, while he stirred a splash of half and half into his own cup. Eddie took a gulp, hissed at the heat, and clutched at the mug, eyes glued to the nicked surface of the table.
“I’m sorry.”
“For rotting your teeth out? That’s your choice, Munson.”
“No,” Eddie insisted, voice hoarse, “I’m sorry about the kids.”
Steve took a breath, took a sip, took another breath. “Look, man, that’s not on you. You play D&D with them, and you like all their nerdy shit. I was -- They grew up. We got through everything, all of that, we won, and they grew up. It’s not your fault that they like you more than they liked me. So, thanks, I guess, but--”
“Steve. No. They didn’t. They -- those kids did not suddenly grow up and decide they didn’t like you anymore. You are their favorite person anywhere, ever, you will be for the rest of eternity, and they don’t understand why no one will tell them how to reach you. They put on a really good show about being mad about it, but, come on, you know what they’re like. They want to apologize cause they know they hurt you, and they want to fix it, and just, you gotta let them try, Steve. You gotta let them talk to you. They miss you so fucking much.”
“Look, I know how they get, and I know how dramatic they are, but it’s still not your fault--”
“It is. Steve. It is my fault. That’s - That’s why you have to talk to them. Cause they didn’t grow up and get over you or decide they didn’t care about you. Those kids are crazy about you, and they never stopped, and they’re hurt right now cause they don’t understand why you left them, and you gotta fix it with them, please.”
Something pinged weird in his ear when he heard the way Munson’s voice cracked. Not just worry, not just helping, not just caring about the kids. Guilt. He was taking the blame for it, even though that didn’t make any sense. The kids were - brats, gremlins, terrors, the most stubborn people he’d ever met, and he knew Nancy Wheeler. If they wanted to be around him, they would be around him.
It wasn’t Eddie’s fault, or anyone’s fault. It hurt like hell, and Steve wished it wasn’t true, but this was just life. Kids grew up, their interests moved. Friendships changed and ended.
But that crack of guilt…
“How is it your fault and not theirs that they stopped wanting to ever see me?”
Eddie’s hands stopped shaking from the cold before he got the coffee.
His hands were shaking again.
Trembled in the time between Steve asking, and Eddie managing to respond.
“I, uh, I asked them to.”
----
Don't be too mad at him yet. He has a lot more to say.

Anxiety courses through your veins when your phone rings at nearly midnight.
Who would be calling this late if it wasn’t some sort of emergency?
You quickly make your way to the telephone and pick it up. “Hello?” you answer, voice filled with concern.
“Hi, pretty girl” You let out a sigh of relief when you hear your boyfriend's voice. “Hi, Stevie. Is everything okay?”
“Nope. Far from okay” he replies and your stomach drops. “w-what’s wrong?” you stammer.
“I miss my girl.” he says, sighing dramatically and making you chuckle. “I thought you were hurt, dummy!” you lightly scold.
“I am hurt. Even more now that you didn’t say you miss me too” he whines. “I haven’t seen you all week, you know I miss you, too. A lot.” you reply honestly.
A week might not seem like a long time to most, but for you and Steve, it felt like a lifetime. It was the longest you’d gone without seeing each other since you started dating almost three months ago.
You weren’t ashamed of how much the two of you cling to one another, not one bit. You loved how he always had his hand on your thigh, his arm around your waist, or even just his pinkie looped with yours. Showing you affection was like second nature to Steve. Every touch or glances at each other in a crowded room was a reminder of how much you loved each other, even if you haven’t officially said those three words yet.
His friends always say he’s “disgustingly obsessed with you” and he always tells them “you would be too if you had a girl like her”. Though his friends like to make fun of how soft he is for you, they love how happy you make him. They especially love that they don’t have to listen to anymore stories of failed dates with girls that left him feeling hopeless.
“Can you come over?” He asks and fiddles with the phone cord while waiting for your response. “What’s in it for me?” you joke. “Unlimited kisses, obviously, and I’ll make you breakfast in the morning.” he promises.
“You’ll make your special pancakes?” you ask.“I’ll make my special pancakes.” he affirms.
Steve’s ‘special’ pancakes were just normal pancakes. Sometimes he would add blueberries or chocolate chips, but that isn’t what made them special. What made them special is how domestic it felt when you made them together or when he surprises you with breakfast in bed. Anything Steve does is special, even if it’s something as simple as pancakes.
“You’re very convincing, Harrington.” you say in a sing-song voice.“Does that mean you’re convinced?” you can practically hear him grin.
“I would’ve said yes even without the pancakes.” you tell him and he chuckles. “I know. I just like to spoil you. Do you want me to pick you up?” he offers. “It’s alright, I’ll drive. I’ll be there in about fifteen minutes, okay?”
“Bring a swimsuit.” he tells you. “Why?” you question. “I wanna go for a late night swim with my girl. If you want to”
“Yeah, that sounds fun! I’ll be there soon”
“I’ll be counting down the minutes.”
“You’re so cheesy.” you giggle. “Bye, Stevie”
“Bye, honey”
_
Steve opens the front door before you even have a chance to knock. He wastes no time pulling you into him, wrapping his arms around you tightly and pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “Missed you, baby” he lets out a sigh of relief at the feeling of finally having you in his arms. “Missed you, too.” you respond, burying your face in his shirt and inhaling the scent of his cologne.
Steve can’t believe how happy he feels right now to have you with him. He’s almost embarrassed at how tightly he’s holding you, scared that if he lets up even a little you’ll disappear.
“C’mon, let’s go inside” he grabs your hand, not letting go until you reach his bedroom. “So, I’ll, uh, let you get changed. If you still wanna go for a swim” he nervously scratches the back of his neck and you can’t help but grin about the fact he gets nervous around you.
“Of course I do. What else is the point of having a boyfriend with a pool?” your arms wrap around his neck and his hands fall to your waist. “So, that’s all I’m good for then, hm?”
“That, and all the free movies from family video.” you kid and he playfully rolls his eyes. “You’re lucky you’re cute. I’m gonna get changed in the bathroom, then I’ll meet you out by the pool, kay?” he says and pecks your lips before exiting his bedroom.
Before changing, you take a moment to look around Steve’s room. You’d been in here many times, but usually only to sleep or steal borrow one of his shirts, and you’ve always been too tired to observe his bedroom.
The first thing you take notice of is the nightstand next to his side of the bed. His glasses that he refuses to wear in public lay on the stand out of their case, which you will gently remind him to put in the case when he isn’t wearing them.
“Baby, you gotta keep them in the case or they might break” you’d tell him, to which he’d reply “like that would be the worst thing in the world.” and honestly, it might just be the worst thing in the world. Not only does he need them, despite his protests, but he looks incredibly handsome in them. You also find it sweet that he’s comfortable enough to wear them around you.
Your heart grows about three sizes when you see the picture in the frame that he keeps next to his bed. The picture is the two of you at Robin’s birthday party. You’re both wearing goofy party hats and Steve’s cheeks are flushed due to the drinks he had that made him unbelievably lovey dovey (not that you’re complaining). You’re both smiling so big your cheeks hurt just from looking at it.
That was the night Steve asked you to officially be his girlfriend. You said yes, but kindly asked him if he’d ask again when he was sober. It was the first thing he did when he woke up the next morning.
In the bottom corner of the frame, there’s a polaroid of you he took a couple of weeks ago. He called you late, much like he did tonight, and asked if you wanted to go on a little adventure. You said yes without hesitation even though he gave you no context.
He took you to lovers lake, of course. You both jumped in the lake and quickly got out when you felt the freezing water, giggling all the way to shore. You laid on the ground while your clothes dried and looked at the stars. Steve insisted on taking a picture of you, saying he never wanted to forget how pretty you looked under the stars.
Setting down the picture frame, you realize you should probably change before Steve comes back and finds you snooping through his room. Not that he would mind.
You quickly change into a simple one piece that’s the color Steve loves you in and throw one of his shirts over the suit before heading downstairs.
Steve’s already in the pool once you get outside. He’s floating on his back, but he lifts his head once he hears you walking towards the pool.
“Hi, handsome. Don’t you look relaxed” you observe and sit on the edge of the pool. “Figured I’d get comfy since you were taking too long” he teases, swimming over to you and standing between your legs. “m’sorry. got distracted.”
You run your fingers through his damp hair, pushing it back so it’s out of his eyes. “You look so pretty right now” you say, still running your fingers through his hair. “Do you have a crush on me?” he dramatically gasps, causing you to laugh. “Maybe I do” you move your hand to cup his cheek and wipe off water droplets with your water droplets.
“Are you gonna join me or sit there and look pretty? I’m fine with either one” he says before pressing a kiss to your palm. “I’ll join you if we play marco polo” you jokingly bargain. “Only if I get to be polo” he counters. “You’re so on. Prepare to lose, Harrington.” you say before standing up to remove your t-shirt.
Steve lets out a whistle once your shirt is off and thrown onto a lounger. “You trying to kill me, honey?”
“What? This is, like, the most conservative bathing suit ever.” you chuckle. “You’d make a garbage bag look sexy, babe.”
“Whatever you say, loverboy.” you respond, sitting back on the edge of the pool and sliding into the water.
Once you’re within reach, Steve grabs your arm and pulls you close to him so that your chests are pressed up against each other. His arms wrap around your waist and your wrap around his shoulders, your hands linked together behind his neck.
His nose gently nudges yours before he finally kisses you over and over. The loving and soft brush of his lips over yours fills your stomach with butterflies. One of his hands slowly travels down until he reaches your butt, giving it a light squeeze and a small gasp escapes your lips.
“I thought” kiss “we were gonna” kiss “play” kiss “marco polo” you say in between kisses. Steve chuckles and slightly pulls back. “We can if you really want to” he responds.
“No” is all you say before capturing him in a breathtaking kiss. Your legs wrap around his waist and his hands grasp the underneath of your thighs. His tongue glides into your mouth causing you to moan.
“Fuck, baby” Steve sighs into your mouth. “I wanna taste you” he confesses and you whimper. “yeah? you like the thought of me eating your pussy, sweet girl?”
“yes” you moan, absentmindedly grinding against Steves’ bulge, causing him to groan.
Steve carries you all the way to the side of the pull, encouraging you to sit on the side and you oblige quickly.
Steve uses his large hands to part your thighs and a smirk appears on his face once your legs are spread. “You’d do anything I told you to, wouldn’t you?” he looks up at you, still grinning like a devil. “uh-huh” you nod swiftly.
Steve presses a kiss to the side of each of your knees. He begins kissing up the inside of your thighs, occasionally nipping and sucking at the skin. You let out a shaky sigh in anticipation and your fingers thread through his hair, giving him a slight tug.
Once he’s reached the top of your thigh, he presses a kiss to your clothed core. “Steve, please” you plead and he doesn’t think he can make you wait a second longer.
He moves the part of the bathing suit covering your core to the side and licks a fat stripe from your hole to your clit. Your hand that isn’t in his hair grips the edge of the pool to keep you steady when his lips wrap around your clit and he starts to gently suck. “Fuck, Stevie” you moan just loud enough for him to hear, not wanting to alert any neighbours what you’re up to.
His hands hook onto your thighs with a harsh grip and you hope it leaves a mark.
His tongue toys with your clit at a slow, excruciating pace. He loves to tease you, loves to hear you beg for him. He knows it’s a little mean, but you just sound so pretty when you’re begging.
“Faster, please” you whine and that’s all he needed to hear.
Steve doesn’t hold back, sucking and licking your clit like a man starved.  Steve’s tongue dips into your entrance and his nose nudges your bud. You throw your head back as you feel your orgasm approaching. You start to grind your pussy on his face, chasing that high you need so badly.
“I’m so close, baby” you groan in pleasure. Steve would know you’re close even if you didn’t tell him. Your breaths have shortened, the grind of your hips has gotten faster, and you have a death grip on his hair.
He doesn’t change his pace or do anything different because he knows you’re about to cum and he’s not going to do anything that would mess up hearing you scream his name as you cum for him.
“Steve, yes!” you scream, neighbours be damned. “I-I’m gonna- fuck- gonna-” you stammer, unable to speak as your orgasm washes over you. The pace of your hips still and Steve works you through your high, pulling away once he knows you’re satisfied.
You collapse onto your back as you catch your breath. Steve hops out of the pool and sits next to you, taking in how beautifully blissed out you look.
He can’t seem to think straight when you turn your head and look at him, giving a loopy smile. Love has been something that’s scared him since he was a teenager. Well, not exactly love, but the vulnerability that comes with being in love. When it comes to you, he’s never felt scared. He’s not afraid to give you his heart or show you sides of him that no one has ever seen, good or bad. Steve feels something with you he was sure only existed in movies and he can’t go another second without telling you.
“Hey” Steve whispers. “Can I tell you something?”
“Yeah. anything” you say and sit up, scooting closer to him. You grab his hand and give it a loving squeeze and he squeezes back.
“I love you. So much. Almost too much. It’s kinda crazy, actually. Like, I’m always thinking about you and wanna be with you all the time. I hope that doesn’t freak you out or anything, but, yeah, I just really fucking love you.”
“Steve…” you whisper, holding back happy tears “I really fucking love you too”
“Yeah?” he asks like it’s too good to be true. “Why wouldn’t I? You’re my favorite person.” you say and he smiles so big his nose scrunches. “You’re my favorite person too. Just don’t tell Robin or she’ll kill me”
“Deal. Now, should we go up to your room so I can show you how much I love you?”
Steve’s never moved faster in his life, practically sprinting inside while dragging you with him.
You rode him for as long as you could until you had no strength left in your legs. After that, you both laid on your sides as Steve fucked you from behind, whispering sweet nothings in your ear, not stopping until sunlight began to stream through the bedroom window.
You eventually fell asleep with your limbs intertwined with his, needing every inch of your body touching his.
Even though he was exhausted from barely sleeping, he still kept his promise to make you pancakes with an extra side of kisses when you woke up. It’s easily the best meal you’ve ever had.

Forever, of course.
SteveRogers x Female!Reader
summary: Steve has a crush on you but your flirty character isn’t making things easy for him. Now he even has to marry you to please a 6-year-old superfan of his. Whether that’s a good plan or not, isn’t quite clear for Steve yet.
a/n: I think this will be the last AI-adaptive story but it was a lot of fun! Shoutout to @RandomTingsForFun on beta.character.ai for having created the character that helped me write this story (and the Bucky one).
Word count: 4k
warnings: a Stevie in love, an attempted funny reader, and a super excited 6-year-old (she carries the story tbh), this is really just super fluffy

Steve shook his head at the sight of your chat history. It wasn’t too long ago when he didn’t even know how to listen to music on the device he was holding in his hands, let alone write a text message in less than 30 seconds. Now, he was bickering with you, and he had to admit it was even a little fun to wait for a response from you. Of course, Steve didn’t do anything else in the time he waited for your reply. He just stared at the screen in his hand and willed his heartbeat to slow a little.
*ping* Why would that be important? So? Maybe I have been talking to Sam about you. Have you been talking about me with Bucky?
Steve: No I haven’t! And it is important because if he’s badmouthing me, then you’d believe him. What has he told you anyway?
You: Just the usual. Save the world this, Captain America that. I stopped listening when he started obsessing over your shield again.
You: Wait. Did you seriously think Sam would say something bad about you? That guy is obsessed with you.
Steve just laughed at your antics. Sam loved the shield for some reason, but every time Steve would give it to him to ‘throw it one time’ Bucky would intervene and ‘show him how it’s done’.
*ping* Anyway what I actually wanted to ask is if you’d come to my niece’s house with me this weekend. She’s a huge Avenger fan and I might have promised her to meet one as her birthday present 😬
Steve: Of course, I will! I would feel bad if you made such a promise and I wasn't able to make it. And I bet she'll know who her favorite Avenger is after a visit from The Cap 😉
You: ugh please don’t call yourself that. ever.
You: I’ll pick you up Saturday at 1:30?
Steve: Yeah, sounds good! I'll make sure to clear my schedule. How old is your niece by the way? And what’s her name?
You: You can call her Izzy. And she’s turning 6 this Thursday. Be nice. And make sure to talk me up a bit, will ya? I mean, I’m already her favorite aunt but just making sure...
Steve: How could she not love you? But I’ll do it anyway. I’ll talk you up so much you’ll never be able to escape my praise! What’s her favorite food?
You: weirdly enough it's carrots, that child is strange. Says vegetables make her a superhero or something.
Steve: I mean she’s not wrong. Carrots are great for your eyes! What does she think of Iron Man? I need to know my chances against the competition.
You: I just asked her and she said she doesn’t care about Tony because you are her one true love.
You: I told her that’s not possible because you are already mine. Now we’re in a big fight so thanks for that.
Steve: why would you say that?
You: I like to see her freak. Don’t worry about it, captain. It was just a joke
You: ...or was it 👀
Steve: I don’t believe you. You’re lying.
He got a little nervous. But it was a good nervous.
You: why? Do you want me to?
You: Am I making you nervooouuus?
Steve could practically see you wiggle your eyebrows with a grin. A silly idea flashed past his mind, and he felt like grabbing it.
Steve: You need to stop before I accidentally propose to you.
Nothing - just a second, though. Then:
*ping* you have a ring?
Steve: I can get one in less than an hour. Meet me at the chapel on main and I’m all yours.
You: I’m stunned. I’ve taught you well.
Steve: 😊 I’ll see you Saturday, doll.
Steve sat back on his sofa. That girl is really something. A smile broke loose on his face at the silly thought of marrying you. Honestly, he wouldn’t mind if it happened. Out of all the people he knew, you were the only one he’d want to spend the rest of his life with. You were fun and you made him loosen up. He was a whole new man around you and he loved it. Because being in your presence was easy, and comforting. There was nothing to worry about.
He sighed before putting his phone down and staring at the ceiling. He couldn’t wait to see you again.
❁ ❁ ❁
Steve stepped out of the door and smiled upon spotting your car. You were already waving at him, a beautiful smile adorning your face and Steve felt his heart skip. Car rides with you were nice. You always had some soft music playing. Always making sure it was nothing too funky so he felt comfortable. Still, he was a little nervous. It wasn’t every day that he go to meet someone who looked up to him - well, actually, it was every day - but this one was different. Because it was your family and Steve needed to make a good expression.
It wasn’t long before you pulled up to your sister's house. But before you could even reach the front door, a little girl jumped out of the door and ran toward you with wild screeches.
“Auntieeee!!!! OH MY GOD, you really did it! You invited Captain America!” The girl jumped up and down beside you and Steve couldn’t help his smile from spreading. Izzy was adorable - very loud - but adorable. Concentrating on it made his nervousness subside a little.
Then she turned around and stared up at him with wide eyes. He could have sworn there were little stars sparkling in them when he crouched down to her height and extended his hand.
“Hey there, little lady. It’s so nice to meet you, I’m Steve.”
“I know that!” The 6-year-old giggled as Steve shook her hand. But when he was about to let go, her tiny fingers grabbed onto his wrist and dragged him up the driveway. “I want to show you something! It’s soooo cool!”
Steve was still a little cautious as she dragged him to her room. His only experience with kids came from Sam’s nephews and prior he had only gotten to hold a couple baby’s for pictures. He didn’t know how to navigate the situation, but he decided he would just rock with it.
Your niece pushed the white door with her name brightly colored on a sign hanging on her eye level open and revealed a tornado aftermath of action figures. He was able to spot most of the avengers laying scattered around a dinosaur toy but the overwhelming red, white, and blue covering her room was undeniable. There was a poster of Steve hanging by the desk and a bunch of her own drawings framing the magazine shot. Izzy appeared next to Steve again, holding a small action figure of himself in her hands.
“My aunt gave me this one. It’s my first one.” She reached up to Steve and barely passed his hip with her little arms. The figure was well loved - he could see it from here. And when he bent down to retrieve it, your niece pulled him down further and whispered a giggly ‘you’re our favorite avenger’ into his ear.
His heart swelled at the excitement presented in front of him. It was adorable, and he could see a little of you in the little girl nervously treading beside him.
“I’m your favorite, huh?” He said, his voice full of affection. Steve usually wasn’t the kind of person to get mushy over an adorable child, but the way her face lit up was too cute. The little Cap figure in her hands was pretty cute, too. “My, my. I must be pretty special then.” His thumb stroked over the blue helmet in her hands.
Lost in thought and seriously flattered by being the hero that inspired this impressive collection, he almost didn’t notice how Izzy threw her hands in the air. “So special! My mom says I will marry someone as special as you one day, but my aunt says there is no one like you. That is so mean!” Her little chubby cheeks puffed with a pout and Steve had to hold back his laugh. The 6-year-old had no idea what you implied with that comment, but he still felt more pride from being called special by you and your niece than from any medal of honor he had ever gotten.
“Well, a girl your age shouldn’t worry about things like that. But who knows, maybe I will be part of your family one day.”
“Really?!” Wide eyes stared back at him and Steve could practically feel the floor vibrating when he nodded with a laugh. Izzy held out her finger and then she exclaimed a rushed ‘stay here’ before zooming past him and out the door.
Steve stayed a little longer and admired Izzy’s room before he heard an excited ‘Captain America said I can marry him!’ Which made him instantly rush to the source.
He spotted her clinging to her mother’s leg, giddy and jumpy. But your sister just shared a laugh with you over the kitchen counter. “I don’t think he meant it like that, buttercup.” Steve watched your sister explain before his eyes got stuck on the little frown on your face. Was that a hint of jealousy, he was detecting? “But if he marries your aunt, he will be your uncle and just as much part of the family.” A little fire hushed past your older sister’s face. It was a look of mischief he had seen you hold all too well. Steve’s cheeks heated when you caught him leaning in the doorway, scratching his neck at the slightly awkward situation.
“That works?”
“That’s how it works, baby.”
Izzy turned with excitement and within a second she was before Steve again. “You have to ask my aunt to marry you! Right now!!” She ordered with a stomp of her foot. “Then you can be my uncle and we can hang out every day!”
Steve’s eyes wandered from the six-year-old to you and his heart picked up its pace at the laugh you shared with your sister. There was no harm in a little play pretend, right?
So, he knelt down in front of you and when your name traveled past his lips softly, he almost imagined a grasp coming from you. “Will you,” his head tilted with a wink, “marry me?”
You hid your laugh behind your hands as they covered your mouth in feigned astonishment. But Steve caught the little glimmer in your eyes at his little show. He continued to take your hand as he threw together a little speech for Izzy to hear, and when the child began excitedly jumping up and down beside him, your face softened.
“Oh, Steve! This is so unexpected!” You clutched your chest and your sister chuckled beside you. Steve felt a tinge of nervousness wash over him then, but he would be okay with a fake rejection - he wasn’t sure if Izzy would, though. “Of course, I’ll marry you! Come here you big, hunky, handsome superhero!”
And as if he hadn’t been prepared for you to agree so quickly, Steve felt his cheeks heat up. He couldn’t deny that the words you described him with had his stomach tingle with excitement, and before he could help himself, he leaned forward and kissed our cheek.
“That was the easiest marriage proposal ever,” he mumbled beside you to which you just slightly pulled from his embrace.
“What? You’ve done that before? Are you already cheating on me, Rogers?” You raised your brows suspiciously, but Steve was only able to shake his head with a smile before Izzy blared into his ear again.
“A wedding! A wedding!” She swirled by him like a tornado, immediately collecting things around the house. “Mom, get all the stuffies, ready! We have to do a wedding!!!” And then she was off to prepare the quickest wedding in history.
Steve shook his head as his arm remained around your waist. “What did I get myself into?” He mumbled to himself before turning to you. “Do I dare ask what a six-year-old’s idea of an official marriage ceremony looks like?”
“I think Paddington Bear will be your best man and if I’m lucky, my sister gets to be my maid of honor, but who knows.” You shrugged with a laugh that warmed Steve’s heart all over again.
❁ ❁ ❁
Not even ten minutes later, Steve found himself kneeling beside a makeshift altar with a bunch of toys and stuffed animals as wedding guests. Action figure Cap had made best man and was neatly propped up behind him. Your sister had officially been crowned the ‘disco machine’ along with a lengthy speech on how important the right song was for the bride’s entrance. Steve had fought hard to keep his face steady, but when Izzy had suggested ‘Party Rock Anthem’, he’d lost it. When really, he was just proud, he knew the song because you had shown it to him the other week - it was Izzy’s favorite.
You had been instructed to wait behind the couch until the music started to play, and Steve felt himself get a little nervous. It was silly, but somehow his desire to have this wedding according to your niece’s wishes was a lot more important to him than he had initially thought.
“Now what do we do?” He asked as he leaned over to Izzy, but that was when the girl gave her mother the ‘sign’ - which was the chicken dance, of course - and his eyes immediately swerved to you. He could see the amusement in your gaze as you bit back a laugh.
Izzy wasn’t wasting any time, as soon as you had reached the altar, she put your’s and Steve’s hands together and immediately began talking. Steve had had barely any time to wipe the sweat from his clammy fingers before they connected with yours, but you didn’t seem to care. He smiled as he watched you listen to your niece’s little speech.
“We are gathered here today, to make Captain America my uncle,” she started, and both you and he struggled to keep it together. It was cute though, and something about becoming this little girl’s uncle excited Steve like nothing had in a long time. “Mr, Captain America, will you take my aunt as your wife?”
Izzy’s eyes were serious as she waited for Steve’s answer. And when he didn’t do so fast enough, she leaned over and whispered the answer to him.
“I will,” Steve chuckled and gave your hands a small squeeze.
Then Izzy’s eyes wandered to you. “Do I even have to ask?” She said with her adorably high voice and everyone started laughing.
“Yes, I will take Steve as my husband,” you answered with the same squeeze of your hand as Izzy imitated the audience cheering.
“You are now husband and wife. Now, kiss, kiss, kiss!!!” It was a little awkward, but Steve leaned in, anyway, to press a gentle kiss to your cheek. He looked at you again and the spark in your eyes was a little brighter as that smile lit up your face again. You looked beautiful, Steve thought, and his heart jumped in his chest at the realization.
“Wohooooooo!” Your sister cheered loudly and ripped Steve out of his trance.
“This is so awesome! You have to come to every family dinner and we can be best friends forever!!” Izzy must have eaten a bag of gummy worms with the way she was vibrating to the song coming out of the little pink CD player. Steve was sure he’d never seen such a hyper six-year-old before.
“Every family dinner?” He asked her as Izzy swayed his hands to the music. When his eyes caught yours, you just shrugged. "Forever?"
"Of course!" Izzy exclaimed as Steve spun her around. His eyes stayed locked on you, however. Forever didn't sound so bad...
“Looks like you’re stuck with me.” You laughed, but Steve didn’t mind that in the slightest.
❁ ❁ ❁
The evening had come sooner than anyone had anticipated. Steve had been so occupied with Izzy all day, he had forgotten all about the time. It didn’t bother him too much, though. He had fun, but exhausting as well. And now that he was finally sitting in your car again, his head leaning against the headrest and enjoying the silence for a moment, he felt how much energy it had really cost him. He would do it again, though - especially if it meant marrying you over and over for eternity.
His eyes opened when you sighed beside him. You hadn’t so much as bothered to start the car just yet, and Steve was kind of happy about that.
You smiled at him when his head turned to you, still leaning back with a dreamy smile himself. “Who would have thought that we would get married today?” You chuckled with a shake of your head. “And you didn’t even give me a ring. I should reconsider my standards.”
“A ring, you say? Well, you are married to the greatest superhero in the world - according to your niece - so I think we’re going to need something pretty special...” Steve joked as he turned in his seat to look through the car, and when he spotted the right thing, the smile returned got his face. “Should I do the honors?”
And then he took the lid off his water bottle and popped the plastic ring off to place it on your finger.
“It’s perfect, blue like your eyes,” you laughed watching the big plastic ring hang from your finger. “I’m gonna have to get that resized, though. You must think I’m fat.” You shook your head. “Wow, not even a day in, and I already have things to tell my therapist about.” But the mischievous glimmer in your eyes told Steve that you were only joking.
“Do I really need to say it, doll?” He took your hand in his before spinning the plastic piece. “You’re the most beautiful woman in the world,” He whispered, secretly meaning every word.
You laughed it off but Steve didn’t miss the stutter in your smile at his words. It made the butterflies in his stomach go wild.
“So what should our first act as a fake married couple be? Celebratory drinks at the Stark Tower rooftop bar?”
"Stark Tower... that sounds good to me.”
The engine roared to life and soon, the faint music was playing in your car again, the streetlights passed him by and the full moon shone above the New York City skyline. But Steve didn't care, he had more beautiful things to look at.
❁ ❁ ❁
“You’re what now? Married?! And I wasn’t invited?!” Sam’s shocked face yelled across the bar, making few agents turn their heads with intrigue.
You chuckled before leaning your head against Steve’s shoulder. The second Martini seemed to already work its wonders on you, but Steve loved how close you were.
“Married by a six-year-old. Count that as you will, but I have a ring on my finger and I’m not telling you how much it cost.” You stretched your hand over the counter to show off the blue piece of plastic and Natasha just laughed at the cute story.
“So, how is the newlywed life?” She leaned on her hands to play along while Sam still tried to get over his non-invitation to a fake wedding. “You guys talking about kids yet?”
That startled Steve a little but he tried his best to keep a straight face - he failed. The thought of having a family with you did things to him he couldn’t explain if he wanted to. The warmth in his stomach spread to his heart and his arm almost instinctively came up to press you further into his side.
“Who knows, I wouldn’t mind a couple mini me’s.” He shrugged with a low smile. He loved this little game more and more. It just got harder and harder to remind himself that it was just that - a game.
“Hold your horses, now. You’re not the one squeezing them out of your body, Mr. Rogers.” You patted his chest and sighed theatrically. “I can already see that I will be home alone with a bunch of kids and you’re working late every night. Our life will fall apart!” Your hand brushed over your forehead as your head fell back like that of a damsel in distress.
The group laughed at the little performance, but Steve was a little quieter now. Somehow, he couldn’t rid himself of the feeling that he needed to tell you how much he really cared. He’d never let your life fall apart - not when he was able to prevent it. And while he sat there with his friends, laughing about something as ridiculous as Captain America settling down, he contemplated in silence, if all this life had really been worth it when he would end up alone in the end - giving up the dream of an easy life he’s had for a century.
❁ ❁ ❁
It was about 12am when Steve and you stopped before your door in the hallway. His eyes were glued to you, his mind racing with scenarios this could go. He had decided to tell you about his feelings about two hours ago, and ever since, he had tried to come up with the best thing to say. But even though talking to you was the easiest thing he’d ever done, and even though you were already married - fake married - he didn’t have a single idea. Not one word that seemed fitting enough to describe the exciting fireworks in his chest whenever he saw you, to somehow tell you how bad living without you would be.
He must have been staring for a while because you began to shift from one foot to the other before finally clearing your throat to kill the silence.
“So... uh... that was an eventful day...” You started, fists nervously opening and closing beside your body. “Thank you for playing pretend. You made a little girl very happy.” You smiled and Steve’s heart skipped another beat.
He caught the small shimmer in your eyes just in time to give him confidence. Your body kept moving forward as if you willed it back again and again, and Steve gathered all his bravery to open his mouth.
“You know what,” Your name tumbled over his lips like a song he’d sung a thousand times. But the effect it had on you still excited him every time anew. “Today... it’s not going to be pretend.”
And before you could even react to his weirdly vague statement, Steve leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours. Full of love and affection, his hands moved on their own - one to your hip and the other onto the wall behind you. There was a moment of panic settling in Steve’s brain, but then your arms came up to sling around his torso and he leaned further into your touch. You pulled him even closer, your lips melting with his, tongues gently stroking soft skin until air got scarce. His whole body felt electric with you so close to him - finally. And when he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, eyes still closed and thoughts swimming in the moment you had just granted him.
“I... I love you.” He whispered against your skin, and he felt his warm breath bouncing back. Your chest was still rising and falling beneath him, a subtle reminder of how breathtaking all this was - Steve couldn’t get enough of it, of you.
Your hand came up to stroke over his cheek, making him open his eyes to find you already looking at him.
“I love you, too, Steve.” You bit your lips, and it made Steve just press his mouth to yours once more.

is that tax fraud?
for @corrodedcoffinfest warm-up round prompt ‘taxes’
rated t | 671 words | cw: language | tags: they’re just so stupid, and I love them, look Steve is here!
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
“What the hell do you mean you’ve never filed taxes?” Jeff asked Gareth as they sat around trying to write a song.
Keyword: trying.
Now it looked like they were gonna be figuring out how to keep Gareth out of fucking prison for tax fraud.
“I thought our band accountant handled it!” Gareth exclaimed.
“We don’t have a band accountant! The label just handles our money!” Jeff exclaimed back.
“Okay, let’s calm down.” Eddie, the voice of reason at this moment, held his hands up towards them. “Technically, Gareth only turned 18 two years ago. That’s only two years of back taxes. And if he’s honest, it’ll be fine! He probably didn’t even make enough the first year for them to care.”
“Well, I did get an inheritance from my grandpa who died,” Gareth said unhelpfully. “Does that count as income?”
Everyone stared at him in shock.
“This is a joke,” Freak said from his spot on the couch. “Has to be.”
“Oh my god, our drummer is actively committing tax fraud,” Jeff put his head in his hands.
“Guys, it’s fine! I’ll just file it all this year,” Gareth assured them.
“We should call someone. Right? Someone should be told about this,” Eddie started pacing the floor, wearing a trail into the shag carpet.
Who even put shag carpet in here? Shag was terrible.
The door swung open and Steve walked in holding three large pizzas and a grocery bag full of sodas.
“They didn’t have any Mountain Dew, but that’s probably for the best. You guys have a conference call in an hour so eat up,” he said as he started setting everything on the coffee table. He looked around when he realized it was way too quiet. “Everything okay?”
“Stevie. I fear our drummer may be going to prison.”
Steve paled. “What? Why?”
“He forgot to tell the government he has money. For two years.”
“He what?” Steve looked at Gareth to explain.
“I didn’t know I was supposed to file my own taxes! I thought we had a guy!”
Steve looked between all of them. He looked at Gareth.
“You do have a guy. The label provides a guy. I think his name is Sam? Maybe Shane.” Steve shook his head. “Either way. You have a tax guy. He filed for all of you last year.”
You could hear a pin drop in the silence.
“What do you mean? We all filed for ourselves last year. Except Gareth, apparently,” Jeff was frowning at the floor.
“Uh, well, you may have given double the money, then,” Steve laughed, though this wasn’t exactly funny.
“So let me get this straight: the label provided a guy to do our taxes without telling us. We all file our own taxes after this guy already did. No one caught it. Gareth’s the only one who hasn’t double paid into the fucking government?” Eddie asked, face red with shame or anger, it was hard to say which.
“Yeah, appears so.”
“Fuck you guys. Had me worried I was going to prison and I’m the only one who’s done shit right!” Gareth laughed. He reached for a slice of pizza and sat back in his chair, smug smile on his face. “Feels good to have my taxes paid.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Freak rolled his eyes. “So how do we get money back if we double filed?”
“Not sure we can,” Jeff sighed. “Probably isn’t worth figuring it out anyway. It’s not like we were rolling in for last year’s taxes.”
“But this year…” Eddie started.
They all looked at each other and nodded.
Yeah. This year would be different. They’d skyrocketed after the release of their first album and their first tour. Money was…pretty fucking great.
“So…pizza?” Steve asked.
They all nodded and started grabbing for their food.
“If you guys want, I’m sure Nancy can try to find a way to get money back. She’s good at that stuff,” Steve suggested.
“Nah, she’d call us idiots.”
“Well, if the shoe fits.”
“Hey!”

Tumblr media
“Wait,” Eddie said firmly. He sat up, moving you from off of him, and your heart instantly plummeted into your stomach. Had you said the wrong thing? Were the movies right, and you had said it too soon and scared him? “Wait, wait, princess, what did you just say?”
“I-I said I love you,” you mumbled. “‘Cause I do! I love you a lot, Eddie—“
“You don’t love me,” Eddie said quickly. “It’s hardly been a month, a-and you’re just confused. You think you love me because you’re swimming in a soup of emotions right now, I mean, fuck, you just came and now you’re—!”
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” you told him earnestly, grabbing at his arm. “I wanted to tell you the night we went to Stevie’s but I held off, but I’m done holding off! I-I love you, Eddie! I think about you all the time, I always want to be right next to you, I can’t wait to see you every day; isn’t that love?”
Eddie was quiet, watching you with wide eyes. “Yeah,” he whispered. “That’s love. Fuck, you love me, princess.”
“Uh-huh,” you said. “Um… Do you love me?”
“What?” Eddie asked sharply, and you jumped back, your hands falling from his arm as if he had burned you.
"Daddy—" you started, but Eddie shook his head quickly, silencing you without saying a single word.
"Don't call me that," Eddie said. "No, it only makes me... Makes me fall for you harder."
Your whole body went all hot, like melty ice cream, melting down Eddie's arm. "Do you..." you started. "Eddie. Please don't be mean right now."
"I'm not trying to be mean, princess," Eddie told you. "For once, with you, I'm trying to be genuine. I'm not trying to pull one over on you or take advantage of you right now, but I don't know how to be honest with you. But I love how you love me, and it scares the hell out of me because I am so not worthy of your love."
"Yes, you are," you told him. "Da-Eddie, you are so worthy of my love, because you've given me every reason to love you. You're kind to me and you respect me—"
"But I don't," Eddie said quickly. "Baby, you don't get it, I haven't done right by you, since the very first day we met. I've hurt you, in ways that you just don't understand, and I'm not sure you can ever understand—"
"Are you calling me dumb?" you asked. You didn't dare hold back your tears, and you sniffled and wiped your eyes on the back of your hand. "Maybe Nancy was right about you."
"She is," Eddie said, and your heart seized up. You expected a fight, for Eddie to call Nancy a nasty name and try to convince you that he was right and she was wrong, but his lack of fight only made you feel... Empty. "She's totally right about me. I'm no good for you, and you should break up with me right now, before you realize that I'm in love with you too now."
"Are you?" you asked. "Are you in love with me?"
"God, fuck, yes, I am," Eddie told you. "I love you so much, it makes my heart hurt. I do all the same as you described, I think about you all the time and I wonder what you're doing when you're away, and I fucking hate making you cry, I hate that shit so much. But I'm such an awful boyfriend to you, I'm an awful person to you, there's no reason why we should even be together in the first place."
"Eddie," you sobbed. "Please don't say that! I-I only wanna hear about how you love me, please just say it to me. I love you too, Eddie, I love you so much—"
"Stop it," Eddie said quickly. "Stop it, I told you, I'm not worthy—"
"You're not worthy because you've done bad things?" you asked. "I've done bad things too! I lie to my parents and cheat on my homework, and I graduate in a month and I don't know what I wanna do with my life, with college or with a job or anything, but you— You, Eddie! I feel like I have a purpose when I'm with you! I've never had a purpose before, and I like my purpose when I'm with you!"
"This is just what I mean, you don't understand," Eddie said. "You don't get it, because you're so sweet and nice, you're everything good with this world, and I've made you into something horrible. You should hate me for what I've done to you."
"What have you done to me?" you sniffled, crossing your arms over your chest indignantly. "Tell me, if it's so bad."
"I lied to you," Eddie said instantly. "The very first day, I lied to you. I lied to you to get you to show me your tits, because I'm selfish and wanted something, and I knew that I could manipulate you into getting what I wanted. That's all I've ever done to you, is lie to you and manipulate you, just so I can get what I want. I used you, baby, I used you and your innocence and your kindness to get what I want."
"What did you want?" you asked softly, hesitating to even ask. "What did you want from me that you had to lie to get?"
"I wanted you!" Eddie exclaimed. He sighed and stood still for a moment, watching you standing there, still in his shirt, your panties clinging to your hips, your legs still shaking from the beautiful orgasm he had given you, and seeing you standing there in such a state, sobbing with snot flowing from your nose, it only made him sigh again. "I wanted you, baby, and I knew there was no way I could get you if I was honest."
"That's not fair," you whined. "If I can't call you Daddy right now, you can't call me baby or princess or anything!" Your mouth screwed up in anger and the hot bubble of it was slothing in your chest, and you couldn't help the words that burst forth: "This is bullshit!"
Eddie looked wounded. "Baby, don't curse—" he started, but you brandished your finger at him, silencing him.
"I'll curse all I want!" you cried. "Because you made me this way! You used me, Eddie, you used me for your own fucking selfish wants, and you tell me that, but then you tell that you love me, like that makes it all okay? Fuck you, Eddie Munson. Take me home."
"Princess, please—"
"Take me home," you snapped. "Take me home, lose my number, you can tell Steve that I broke up with you because I finally wised up. I bet you guys had a big laugh over how stupid I am, huh?" You sniffled and mopped up your tears, and you bent down to grab your clothes, and you whipped the shirt up over your head. "Don't look at me," you told him, and Eddie sighed, looking away.
"For the record," Eddie said. "It was Steve's idea. Wanting to see your tits that night."
"Is that supposed to make it okay?" you asked. "You still went along with it."
By the time you were dressed again, Eddie had gathered his car keys, and he held the door open for you as you huffed out to his van. You pushed his hand away as you climbed up into the passenger seat, and you shut your own door before you crossed your arms and sulked.
The part that hurt the worst was that you loved him. You loved him with every part of you, every inch of you loved every inch of him, but he had used you. He was selfish and had abused you, and you couldn't find it in your heart to forgive him. The ride was quiet, Eddie taking his time with the drive, and, when you got home, you started to slam the door. "Wait," Eddie said, and he said your name. You couldn't ever recall him using your name once before— you were always his princess, his baby. "I'm sorry. Listen, I'm just sorry, alright? I know you're pissed at me, and you have every right to be, but... Call me if you want to. Okay? I love—"
You shut the door before he could finish.

Holy fuck, yall. SO MUCH happened. Had to delete Tumblr for a day (or, as it turns out, like, 8) but I’m back!! Y’all get TWO parts today and then another in two days to keep us on schedule.
Part 1 | . . . | Part 25 | Part 26 | Part 27
Dinner is filled with raised voices, back and forth, thinking of and discarding plan after plan, until an agreement is reached. Joyce takes her kids home soon after, and helps ferry some of the other kids as well. Nancy takes Mike and Robin. Steve winks at Robin as she leaves, resulting in her sticking her tongue out at him.
Then it’s just Steve and Eddie, Alli having given Steve a look before taking her leave and heading upstairs to her room.
“So,” Eddie says with a grin, holding up his lunchbox.
Steve swallows the noise that wants to come out. “Please,” he says instead, leading the way to the back door before freezing just inside, realizing what had happened just a few days ago. “Um,” he says embarrassedly, “how do you feel about roofs?”
Eddie gives him an odd little look before replying. “In general?” He asks, though his smile reveals he knows what Steve means.
Steve chuckles. “Y’know what? If you have actual opinions, I want to hear them.”
“D’you know they’re made differently depending on where you are? Because the type of weather? They’re steeper here than in, say, Florida, ‘cause we get snow and Florida doesn’t, and snow is heavy and can cause your roof to cave in if too much settles on top. Also if you live in areas that get a lot of snow, don’t grow weed in your attic, ‘cause the heat will cause the snow to melt on just that one part of your roof.”
Steve blinks. “That’s… actually really interesting.”
Eddie grins. “Isn’t it?” His grin falls when Steve opens the door to his room. “Speak now or forever hold your peace, Stevie-boy, ‘cause I’ve got opinions on your room.”
Steve sighs. “I think I’ve probably heard it all before, but go right ahead. Surprise me. You’re good at that anyways.”
Eddie gives him another odd look before looking around. “Seriously, if you don’t want me to say anything, I won’t. I mean, it’ll be hard, but-”
Steve snorts. “No, go ahead, I wanna hear it.”
He wanders over to the desk, picks up the phone, and brings it to his ear before saying to Steve, “the seventies are calling. It wants…” he gestures around, “all of this back.”
Steve snorts, drawing a hand over his face to hold in a laugh. “That all you got?”
“Hey, that was a good one,” Eddie retorts, then looks around again as his smile falls. “I dunno, man. I get that I don’t really know you, but… this doesn’t really feel like you.” He tilts his head. “Besides maybe that car,” he gestures to the picture, “but… is that the stock photo?”
Steve hums. “Probably. My mom decorated it. I didn’t have much say. Well,” he considers, “any say, really.”
Eddie narrows his eyes. “Can I ask about them?”
“Who?”
“Your parents.”
“Oh.” Steve shrugs. “Sure. There’s not much to say. They’re not terrible, just… absent. I mean, my dad can be an asshole sometimes, but that’s just dads, right? But he’s always gone on business trips and my mom thinks he’s cheating on her—she’s probably not wrong, by the way—so she goes with him.”
Eddie blinks. “Your dad sounds like a dick.”
Steve snorts. “Well, his name is Richard.”
Eddie’s eyes light up. “His one redeeming feature.”
“His name?”
“Exactly what it says on the tin,” Eddie nods.
He’s so earnest, so ridiculous, Steve can’t hold back the laugh. He leads Eddie out onto the roof, extending him a hand as he crawls out the window and staying behind him as they crawl up, a misguided hope of being able to catch Eddie if he were to fall.
They make it up unscathed, however, and Steve watches as Eddie lights a pre-rolled blunt, taking the first drag and releasing it—and the tension in his shoulders—before handing it over to Steve, who inhales deeply before immediately coughing. “Fuck, man,” he says, laughing, “I forgot I haven’t smoked much yet.”
Eddie raises a brow. “Yeah? You do it a lot in four years?”
Steve shrugs. “Not a lot, maybe, but definitely more.”
Eddie hums in response before accepting the joint back. “So tell me,” he says after a few minutes. “We’re actually friends? Or ‘s this more of a keep your friends close and your enemies closer type thing?”
Steve huffs a laugh. “I can definitely see how you’d think that,” he admits. “But no, this is… it’s friends. We’re friends. Or I’d like to be, at least.”
Eddie grins at him. “You don’t seem too bad,” he teases. “I guess I could stand being friends with you.”
“Oh, well I’m so glad I meet your standards.” He grins lazily before taking another hit. “If it makes more sense to you this way, we can just say this is reason enough,” he says, holding the joint up. “Cause man, I tried another dealer, and I dunno what he had but it sure as hell wasn’t this.”

I wrote this in September and it’s been collecting dust in my docs and staring back at me with judgement whenever I post or write something else so here
“Steve” a familiar voice shouts across the room.
Steve turns around, and there, on the other side of the crowded room is Tommy. It really shouldn’t be as big of a shock to see him as it is. Steve is at a house party on a Friday night, it would have been weirder if Tommy wasn’t here. But still, that doesn’t mean he’s prepared to see him, they basically haven’t talked in three years, ever since Steve ‘chose’ Nancy over him and Carol (aka finally dropped them because they were horrible and didn’t drop Nancy because she isn’t).
Still, he plasters on a smile, making it as polite as he can, and waves. Hopes it will be enough but of course, it isn’t. Tommy starts weaving through people, pushing and elbowing his way toward Steve.
“Its been ages,” he says clapping his hand on Steve’s shoulder, “how have you been man.”
Steve resists the urge to shrug his hand off, but it’s a close thing.
“It has.” Steve doesn’t add ‘because you’re an asshole and I hate who I am around you’ and he feels very mature for it. “I’m good.” He very deliberately does not ask Tommy how he’s been.
“Me too, me too.” He responds anyways, at least he finally removes his hand from Steve’s shoulder which makes him relax marginally. “Still dating Nancy?”
And, okay yeah, he and Tommy haven’t really spoken since he and Nancy were still together but Hawkins is a small town and he’s sure Tommy knows that Nancy had both broken up with Steve, gone on to date Jonathan for two years, and recently broken up with him as well. Actually, he thinks he remembers a shower conversation with Billy just days after she dumped him and went off to Murray with Jonathan, a conversation that Tommy was also present for.
“No, we broke up years ago.” He dutifully replies anyways, because what else can he say?
“Yeah, heard she dumped you?”
Steve is gonna remain calm, play along in whatever game Tommy is playing, and not react.
“She did,” he agrees easily.
“And got with Jonathan right after? Should have listened to us and stayed away.” He grins as he speaks, grins as if Steve is gonna agree with him.
“We’re still friends,” Steve shrugs, letting the fall of Tommy’s smile bring one to his own lips.
“Was for the best that we broke up, we’re much better as friends.”
Tommy squints a bit, his hackles raising and Steve only notices because he once knew him so well. Why he’s still getting defensive talking about Nancy Steve doesn’t know.
“Oh Stevie, you still hung up on her huh?”
It’s deliberate, he’s trying to press Steve’s buttons. ‘Well, tough Tommy-boy.’ Steve thinks, ‘those ones don’t work anymore, have been defunct for ages. You’re gonna have to do better than that if you want a reaction.’
“Nah,” he says, lets his smile be a bit more genuine when he continues, “she’s great but I’m dating someone else.”
“Rebound?” Tommy whistles, “she hot?”
Why Tommy is convinced Steve is still pining after Nancy he can’t say, or maybe it’s the only angle he has on Steve nowadays? Except they basically lived in each other's pockets all through high school and if Tommy really wants to get under Steve’s skin there are other things, better things. Things he has used against Steve before and seen the effect of. Why he isn’t he using them now when he clearly has some agenda Steve can’t say.
Steve is about to respond, has his mouth open and ready to speak when someone calls his name again. Thankfully this time the source is a lot more pleasant.
Tommy turns around to see who it is, completely exposing his back to Steve. It’s probably the last few years of fighting hell monsters that has ingrained a distrust in Steve. Making him hyper-aware of his surroundings and never willing to leave his back open like this to people he doesn’t trust. He knows this but still, he thinks there should be some primal instinct in Tommy to stop him from making himself so vulnerable to Steve, the action speaks of leftover trust that Steve isn’t ready to face.
“Munson? You know Munson?” He turns back around, an incredulous look on his face.
It snaps Steve out of his thoughts and reminds him Eddie had called for him. He leans to the side, stretching out so he’s visible behind Tommy, catching Eddie’s eye and waving him over.
“I do, yeah.”
Tommy’s face twists into something Steve can’t immediately place. He recognizes it, knows he’s seen Tommy make that face before. It’s not disgust or confusion but maybe something in between? Before he can figure it out it clears.
“Oh, King Steve getting drugs? Who would have thought?”
Steve rolls his eyes, the only reason he had stopped smoking weed for a while in high school was because athletes got tested. Why Tommy is pretending Steve ever had some moral issue with it now is beyond him but not much of this interaction has made sense to him so far so what’s one more thing?
“What Steve doing drugs? He’s a very responsible young man and would never” Eddie says, twisting past the last couple of people.
“Right Stevie? You wouldn’t touch the stuff?” Eddie–knowing very well that Steve would in fact ‘touch the stuff’–asks.
“Not with a ten-foot pole.” Steve–who smoked yesterday–deadpans.
“Knew I could trust in you to stay a good boy.” Eddie coos as he steps into Steve's space and kisses him despite where they are. It’s quick enough that no one who isn’t watching would catch it though and the only one who is watching is Tommy. When Steve looks back at him his face slack with shock.
“Hagan,” Eddie says with a short nod.
“You-?” Tommy looks between them, that same look as before flashing on his face, still just out of Steve’s grasp.
Steve contemplates what he should do for a second but Tommy already saw them kiss, already knows. And honestly, Steve doesn’t really care what he thinks and he knows Tommy won't say anything. Steve has too much dirt on him.
“Oh sorry, Tommy this is my boyfriend.” His voice is deceptively sweet as he introduces Eddie as if that’s what Tommy had been getting at.
Steve turns to Eddie, “baby, you know who Tommy is right?”
He’s laying it on thick, asks despite Eddie greeting him by name two seconds ago. Knows others' unabashed confidence and being on the outside are things Tommy can’t handle.
“I think so,” Eddie plays along, “you were friends once right? Before you found better people?”
It’s mean but Steve wouldn't have thought too much of it if it weren’t for the wounded noise Tommy makes. When Steve looks at him again his face is cracked open and it finally clicks what that expression is.
“Aw, you jealous?” Eddie says in a mocking tone, hitting the nail on the head because that’s exactly what that expression is, jealousy.
It’s the same look he had whenever Steve told him about a new girl, the look he’d have when Steve started bringing Nancy around. It’s deeper though, not only jealousy. He also looks like he did when Steve told him and Carol to leave him alone. He doesn’t just look jealous, Tommy looks heartbroken.
He tries to pull it together, scrunching his nose up in disdain, and scowls at them. Quickly looks away from Steve when their eyes catch and his mask falls a bit, instead focusing on Eddie who raises one eyebrow in response.
“Hardly,” he scoffs, it comes out strained, “I would love to stay and chat but-”
He doesn’t elaborate, just turns on his heel and disappears into the crowd.
Steve is frozen to the spot, a war going on in his head. Puzzle pieces he didn’t know were missing falling into place.
“Come on, let's get out of here.” Eddie grabs Steve’s wrist and starts pulling him outside, away from the party. He gets them in his car and doesn’t try to speak to Steve, probably sensing he’s having some earth-shattering realizations right now.
“He liked me,” he finally manages to say. “That’s why he hated Nancy so much. He was...” he trails off, knows it’s true but can’t quite say it.
“Jealous,” Eddie finishes softly.
“You knew?” Steve asks because Eddie doesn’t sound or look surprised at all.
He shrugs, “I had my suspicions.”
“But how-”
“We looked at you the same,” his smile is wry, self-deprecating, “I recognized it.”
And Steve can’t really process this right now even though he knows it’s true so he grasps at straws, “Carol, he was with Carol?”
Eddie reaches out one arm and cups his face in his hand, glances at him quickly before he looks back at the road with a sad smile.
“If you’re in love with your best friend, your male best friend who you believe is straight, you do what you need to do to push it down, to hide it. Especially in high school and in a small town.”
“In love?” Steve rasps because he’d said ‘like’.
“Yeah, sweetheart. In love.”
Eddie brushes his fingers under Steve’s eye and he realizes it’s because he’s crying.
“I’m sorry,” he says, “I don’t know why I'm reacting like this.”
And it’s true, he really doesn’t understand why it feels like a big hole has opened in him. He never liked Tommy, not like that, yet it feels like he’s lost something, fucked something up.
“He used to be your best friend, it’s a big thing to realize.” Eddie parks outside of his trailer, turns to Steve making no move to get out of the car. “Kind of changes everything, or at least puts it in a new context, explains some things.”
Steve feels the blood drain from his face because he’s suddenly remembered something and oh god does it put it in a new fucking context.
“Baby?” Eddie asks when Steve sits frozen again.
“We used to get wasted and make out,” he whispers the words, shame coursing through his veins.
Eddie goes still and Steve rushes the explain.
“Not often and not after he got with Carol, just,” he takes a shallow breath, “It happened a few times. We’d steal my dad's whiskey and get so beyond drunk and, well, kiss a lot.”
He’d smile at the memory if he wasn’t so horrified by it at the moment.
“The first time Tommy had never kissed anyone, asked me to teach him so he wouldn’t fuck it up when it mattered. Then after that it just kind of continued to happen. We’d get drunk, make out, and pretend like nothing. It stopped when he started seeing Carol, he tried but I stopped him. Told him he didn’t need to practice now when he had the real deal. We never talked about or even mentioned it.”
Steve sees Eddie’s arms shake and when he looks up he sees Eddie holding back laughter, eyes filled with barely concealed amusement.
“Are you laughing right now?”
Eddie stops holding back, letting the laughter burst out of him and Steve is so confused because he thought Eddie would be mad at him. He’s not sure why, it’s just that this has been such a deeply buried secret wrapped in shame for years with a big ‘do not talk or even think about it’ sign placed in front of it. That it would be met with laughter was never a possibility.
“I’m sorry,” he gasps through it, “It’s just such a cliche.”
Steve’s confused face only makes Eddie laugh harder. When he calms down he takes Steve's face in both his hands holding him firmly and looking him in the eyes.
“Steve, baby, sweetheart. Tommy used the oldest trick in the book on you, asking you to teach him how to kiss and you did it multiple times because what? he needed practice? That’s the flimsiest excuse to gay kiss your best friend and it’s also fucking done, it’s a cliche.”
Steve blinks, realizes that while he never had feelings for Tommy he had definitely found him attractive, had enjoyed kissing him. Had very deliberately not thought too deeply about his or Tommy's motives because that would have made it something he would have had to face.
“Oh,” he says.
Eddie smiles, wide and warm, “yeah, oh.”
“You don’t think I used him?” Steve has to ask, “if he had feelings for me and I didn’t have any for him.”
“No,” Eddie says, “not more than he did you. And you were kids, just messing around and trying to figure yourselves out in a not-very-accommodating world.”
Eddie squints a bit in thought, “though he probably thought you were more on the same page, that you could continue even though he was with Carol. Must have stung to be rejected.”
Steve snorts, “wasn’t really interested in helping anyone cheat, even under all the pretenses.”
“I know.”
Eddie's eyes are soft, looking at him with so much warmth that Steve momentarily forgets what they were talking about until Eddie's mouth twists into a sly grin.
“I can’t believe your first gay experience was with Tommy fucking Hagan.”
Steve gives him an unimpressed look, “at least I didn’t come in my pants ten seconds in, like some people I know.”
Eddie draws back, clutching his chest with his hands, “harsh words, love. It was at least a minute.”

AU where eddie works security for a venue and gets drafted to be part of the cleaning crew after a huge sold out concert.
he’s in the 100 section and he’s got a trash bag in one hand and a pair of grabbers in the other. he’s picked up more feathers and empty seltzer cans than he cares to count and he’s two seconds from hiding out in the sound booth until everyone else forgets he was even there and he can sneak out under the cover of night.
he’s grumbling under his breath when he hears an incessant buzzing sound from a few seats up. he jogs up the steps and sees the light from a phone screen coming from under a seat.
it’s flashing a picture of a pretty girl, her face pinched while an even prettier guy kisses her cheek. the name “robbie 🕊️” scrolls across the top of the screen.
eddie hesitates for a few seconds before he realizes that whoever it is is probably just trying to find their phone. he answers.
“uh hello?”
there’s a shriek from the other end that has eddie yanking the phone away from his ear.
“it’s you! oh my god hi! STEVE! it’s him! he has your phone!”
eddie’s confused.
“uh listen, you left your phone in your seat- or your friend did, i guess. i can leave it at the will-call window so you can come get it or-”
there’s a ruckus on the other line and then a new, distinctly male, voice speaking.
“NO! no i- uh. i mean. can you just bring it out to us? we’re still in the area.”
“uh i’m still working but-“
“oh shit. right. um well, we’ll be out for a while? can you just bring it out when you’re off maybe?”
eddie’s sure he’s got a dumbstruck look on his face. why can’t he just send it downstairs?
“i mean i can? but it would just be faster to send it to the office.”
he hears a huff and some mumbling and can almost imagine the guy, steve (?), rolling his eyes.
“okay so i might have left it on purpose.”
now eddie’s even more confused. but before he can question it, the guy keeps talking.
“look. i saw you working security during the show and i wanted to come talk to you but then the show was over and then everyone was leaving and i had to- you know how concert traffic is, you work there for fucks sake.” he cuts off his own ramble with a huff. “anyway. i panicked and robin told me to leave my phone so i would have an excuse to come back and see if you were there.”
eddie snorts.
“well, you’re sweet steve, but how do you know you’re talking to the right guy?”
there’s a pause and eddie isn’t sure he’s still on the line.
“steve?”
“i recognize your voice. i may or may not have spent the hour before the show listening to you talk to your friend while i tried to work up my nerve.”
his friend? gareth. oh he can’t wait to tell him about this.
speaking of, he’s spent almost enough time entertaining this riveting conversation to wrap up his shift. he looks around and everyone else is wrapping up their sections too.
“well good news for you, my shift is almost over and flattery works with me. so i’ll bring your phone down in about a half hour? meet you outside the floor entrance?”
he can hear the way steve’s voice picks up and he can imagine him smiling.
“okay! yeah! yeah okay i’ll see you then!”
eddie laughs to himself and is telling steve he’ll see him soon when he’s cut off with a shout.
“WAIT! shit, sorry! i just realized i never got your name.”
eddie laughs for real this time, loud and unbidden.
“eddie. it’s eddie.”
“eddie. i’m steve.”
“yeah i got that sweetheart,” he jests.
“right. well i’ll see you soon?”
eddie can’t help his smile.
“yeah stevie. see you soon.”

Tumblr media
The third glass of the bottom shelf wine you’d picked up a few hours ago goes down a lot smoother than the first two. A bloom of flavour in your throat that warms what otherwise feels numb.
Your fingers twitch as you glance down at your phone, aching to look at Charlie’s Instagram one more time - just to make sure she’s okay, you rationalise. Make sure she’s not fallen into a well, or been abducted by aliens or something.
You kind of hope she has been.
Stevie Nicks sings Landslide through the tinny Bluetooth speaker on your coffee table, and you hum to the song that makes tears well in your eyes. Charlie hates this song, but since Charlie is now your ex and all her belongings had vanished from your home this morning it doesn’t really matter. She’d hate the wine too. You have to remember it doesn’t matter.
An errant tear slips from your eye - definitely because of Stevie and not Charlie - and as if on cue your phone buzzes loudly making you jump. A splash of wine lands on your couch. This week really isn’t working out for you.
A look at the phone screen makes you roll your eyes. The photo that comes up with the call is of you and Eva, your best friend for longer than you can even recall. You’re both wrapped in each other's arms and smiling wide, stupid toothy grins as you pose outside the modelling agency in LA that had signed her on for her first big break.
Eva was destined to be a model, really. She’d always been ‘pretty’; all curves, warm beige skin that practically glowed, entrancing chestnut eyes and long dark hair that fell in natural waves. But in high school she’d transformed from pretty to gorgeous seemingly overnight.
From that moment on no one ever forgot Eva.
She was more to you, though. To you she’d always been beautiful. Always. For a long time you’d passed the twist in your stomach when you looked at her for too long off as jealousy, but how could you ignore the stutter of your heart when she smiled at you a certain way? The more you two grew together, the more perfect she seemed to become. The more you wanted to look at her, spend time with her, be in her radiant presence.
Not that her looks mattered. Eva was kind, fun and a little goofy. She liked stupid slapstick comedies and she crocheted silly little animals in her spare time. You had a frog on your dresser she’d made for you years ago. She cared deeply about so much, and she always fought for what she believed in and what she wanted. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone when she’d jetted off to LA several years ago to live her dreams out, then.
Of course no one is truly perfect, which is why you’re currently staring at your phone as it rings again and again, debating whether to pick up. Eva had always been drastically spontaneous and had a history of bad decisions. Usually harmless to anyone but her (the name of a one night stand permanently etched on her hip comes to mind), but two weeks ago she’d made what you could only see as the worst decision of her life.
You sigh, place down your wine glass and finally answer the phone.
“Hi Eva” you grumble down the line, turning the music off so you can hear her.
“You didn’t call me back last week” She offers instead of a greeting. You can hear something in the background that makes your eye twitch, a man’s voice and the clink of a glass.
You'd found out about this particularly bad decision not from your best friend, but from the noisy article on some dumb celebrity gossip website that had somehow made its way onto your timeline.
And you'd scoffed when you looked at the caption because of course Dieter Bravo had gotten married on a whim in some corny Vegas chapel, but then you had to do a double take upon seeing the picture of his bride; dolled up in a simple white dress that made her skin glow, platform white heels, dark hair in a bun atop her head and the same bright smile that had made your heart flip so many times in your life.
It was Eva.
Your Eva.
Eva the model who was leaving the chapel leading on to the Vegas strip with a wedding ring on her finger and Dieter fucking Bravo by her side. And they were smiling, laughing. Paparazzi shots of the two of them kissing in the street after the ceremony flitted behind your lids every time you closed your eyes for the last two weeks.
You could only assume it was a drunken whim that had turned your best friend from your Eva to Mrs Dieter Bravo.
So you were mad at her right now. Mad that she’d married some trainwreck celebrity she barely knew. But the real gut wrenching pain you felt was that she hadn't even told you; you'd had to find out after the fact through stupid papped photographs that made you want to claw your eyes out. You weren’t jealous, absolutely not.. You just wanted Eva to be happy. How could she be happy with a guy like that? You had heard plenty about Dieter Bravo; he seemed to have often been the subject of some ridiculous Hollywood gossip in the past, and then there had been that god awful Cliff Beasts documentary you'd watched for a laugh that certainly didn’t paint him in a great light. Sure he was an Oscar and Emmy winning actor now but jeez, from what you’d seen he wasn't exactly what you'd call marriage material.
Yeah, you were hurt.
"What? Say what you want to say” Eva sighs when you remain solidy quiet for a long minute.
"I don't have anything to say"
Her breath huffs down the line and you can practically hear her roll her eyes.
"You got married, Eva” You finally speak again, voice coming out quiet and more bitter than you’d wanted it to.
“I did, cherry” She responds.
The nickname she’d given you in grade school was never going away.
“You got married! To fucking…to Dieter Bravo!” It makes you laugh a little to say it out loud, and Eva can’t hold back her own small giggle at that.
“Yep”
You can tell she’s smiling, there’s that cadence in her voice that lifts when she’s really happy. Usually it’s your favourite thing in the world but right now it makes you fucking ache. Reaching for your glass of wine you take a big gulp before speaking again.
“I just…you didn’t even tell me. I’d like to know if my oldest friend is getting hitched, you know?"
“I do know, I do…I-” She stops and there’s a rustle of noise on the line as she shifts, “I wasn’t trying to hide it from you, it just happened so suddenly…we didn’t exactly plan it. He made a joke about it and the next thing I knew we were on a flight to Vegas”
So it really was a spontaneous decision. You couldn’t even pretend to be surprised.
"I could've....Eva, I wanted to be your maid of honour if you ever got married, isn't that what we always said?"
"You can be my maid of honour for the next one" Eva offers.
Ok, she got you there, you can’t stop the laugh that comes. At least until you hear a man's gruff laugh in the background. For a moment it makes you see red at the thought that he's involving himself in your conversation even in the smallest way.
"Ev. This isn't a joke. You get why I'm mad right? And to Dieter Bravo of all people - look, is this a PR stunt?" You mutter a little meanly, taking another sip.
“Wow, screw you” She retorts, but it’s playful. “He’s nice...really nice. He’s fun. You told me to have all the fun I could have in LA, remember?”
“You weren't supposed to marry the fun, Eva!” You protest, but her happiness in the face of the ridiculous situation makes it so difficult to stay mad at her.
"Wait til you meet him, cherry pie. Just wait, you’ll get it. And…I am sorry, okay?” The line is quiet for a moment and you hear her moving presumably to a different room “I really am. But I didn't call to tell you about my married bliss. I heard about Charlie"
God, your stomach twists in knots at the mention. Being mad at Eva had been a good distraction from the breakup even if only for a moment.
"Oh, right”
“You wanna talk about it?” Her voice is gentle now, sympathetic. You wish she could hug you like she used to when you were sad.
“I’m fine” You lie, “I mean I thought she'd be my... doesn't matter. I’m okay" Massive lie.
Eva says some comforting words that you barely register.
You feel like you’re constantly standing at the edge of what your world could be. Maybe it’s why the marriage riled you up so much. You can’t pretend she doesn’t sound happy. And here you are broken up with again, alone again. Before she’d left to live her dreams, you’d had visions that maybe it’d be Eva you’d end up with. Maybe if you could just let yourself be fully real for once…Maybe she’d realise, and you could have been something bright and glowing and joyful too.
A whole lot of maybes that meant nothing in the end.
It’s just you now.
You zone back in to the call at the words ‘Bora Bora’ and ‘Don’t worry about the cost, cherry’
“Wait, what?” You stutter, trying to understand if you’re hearing her correctly
“Take a few weeks off, come with us. The hotel is paid for, we have one of those fancy bungalows. We’ll sort the flights. You need this and I miss you”
"I..." you hesitate nervously, biting your lip “I miss you too. But…”
Eva tsks at you, familiar with that tone even down a phone line.
"What are you going to do instead? Sit on your couch for three weeks and scroll her instagram for hours on end? I'm not letting you do that. Come on, cherry pie, we'll have so much fun. It'll be like old times" Eva gives as much enthusiasm as she can, but that hint of concern has notched in her throat. She knows you too well and she’s right.
"Like old times?" you huff  "Except it'll be me, you, and your husband"
"You'll like him, I promise"
The call ends with your promise to think about it.
And think about it you do. All night, all of the next day. It’s a stupid fucking offer for them to make. It’ll be so awkward. What if he’s a nightmare? What if she’s not the same with you now she’s got a ring on her finger? You should say no.
You should really say no.

Two weeks later, after a day of sitting too long with not enough leg room, the little Air Tahiti plane lands in Bora Bora.
Your legs shake as you step off the plane. It’s possible you’re still in shock that you even agreed to this. Your stomach knots with nerves, as your bags are unloaded and you head over to the arrival area to find-
There she is. Your breath hitches in your throat. Your heart beats faster. God, you really had missed her. It’s been months, and she’s still so her it makes everything suddenly feel okay.
“Cherry!” Eva squeals gleefully, dark glossy hair bouncing as she runs up to crush you into an insistent hug. You laugh, you can’t stop laughing as you hold on to her.
Your Eva.
“Oh my god, I missed you” You feel like you might cry as she utters similar sentiments into your ear.
When she finally lets go and steps back you finally notice the man behind her. Not that Dieter Bravo would ever be easy to ignore.
He's what you'd expected; The mess of brown hair sticking this way and that, the too casual clothes, scruffy facial hair. But he’s also…well he’s gorgeous, not Hollywood good-looking like the waxwork movie stars in all those big action films. You’ve seen his face before on screens and in pictures and yet you’ve never fully understood that this man is pretty, he’s different. He’s enthralling, even just at first glance.
Dieter tilts his head so you can catch his big brown eyes beneath the sunglasses he’s wearing and you have to stop yourself staring too hard. He’s what you expect, but he takes you by surprise too. He raises his left hand to scratch at his chin, a glint of the rings on his fingers catching your eye as you observe him before stepping forward with a friendly smile which he returns with a wry one of his own.
“You must be-” You start before he cuts you off.
“The fun, yeah” Dieter pushes his sunglasses down his nose and gives you a wink, followed by a grin before he turns towards Eva.
Your stomach flips, a twinge of jealousy as he takes hold of her hand and they share a glance at each other. You’re still processing the interaction with him but it’s impossible to ignore the way Dieter's face lights up when he looks to her - a brilliantly bright but bashful smile like he can't believe she's there, his eyes snapping up to meet hers like it's the first time seeing her.
Like he's desperately in love with her.
At least the two of you have something in common.

Royal Pain Part 21
Hello! We're back with more Royal Pain. For the person(s) that thought the kiss meant the nearing of the end of the story: NOPE! We still have a bit to get through plot wise. Plus I don't usually go through past them getting together, and wanted to explore that a little before the end.
Also, where have my commenters gone? I used to get 10 or so comments a post and the last part of "Well Met By Moonlight" only had one. My usual commenters just didn't. If I have suggested in anyway that I don't like comments or don't appreciate them, know that I really, really do! And I miss it when people who used comment don't anymore. I'm not going to name names because this isn't a callout post, just a concern, I guess.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20
Today we have a replay reaction to the kiss by the Royal Pain crew, Wayne being wise (and mention of a ring that has always been a thing in the story, I just forgot to put it in before this oops!) and Chrissy getting some advice.
***
To say that Steve was practically squealing from joy when he got to his car would be an understatement. He put his bluetooth earpiece in his right ear and immediately called Robin.
“Are you okay?” she asked as soon as she picked up.
“Eddie kissed me!” he giggled excitedly.
“No fucking way!” she gasped.
“Not yet anyway,” he said slyly, pulling into traffic.
“Steven Joseph Harrington!” Robin squeaked. “You don’t get to make dirty puns like that unless I’m in hitting distance.”
Steve laughed. “Joseph isn’t my middle name.”
He could hear her snap her fingers. “I’ll guess it eventually.”
“It’s been nearly a decade and you still haven’t guessed it,” he reminded her. “I can make it harder though...”
“Don’t you dare!” she hissed. There was silence for a moment. “You can’t make it harder, can you?”
He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. “I can actually, but you told me not to.”
He could feel her narrow her eyes from across town as she weighed her options.
“Go ahead,” she said haughtily. “I don’t think you can.”
Steve grinned. “I have two middle names and you’ve never guessed either one.”
“You do not!” Robin hissed. “There is no way!”
“My parents were super traditional,” he told her. “My middle names come from each of my grandfathers.”
“Oh my god,” she said, “that makes so much sense.”
Steve licked his lips and waited. Five, four, three, two–
“Don’t you change the subject, Steven!” Robin came back. “Eddie kissed you.”
“He did indeed,” Steve said, “and I will tell you all about it when I get back to the shop. I’m like three minutes away.”
“I want to know everything!”
“I promise.”
*
Steve got to the shop and everyone was standing around the front counter, chins propped up on their hands, blinking at him expectantly.
He shook his head. “Menaces, the lot of you.”
Erica batted her eyelashes. “Yeah, but you like menaces.”
Steve tilted his head to the side and then nodded. “Yeah, yeah. But first I have to tell about my lunch with Wayne.”
Erica and Chrissy groaned, pushing off the counter and rolling their eyes. Robin and Argyle stayed in position though.
“Trust me,” Steve said holding his hands up, “it’s relevant to the story.”
“This better be good, Harrington,” Chrissy snarked.
“Oh it will be,” he said with a smile, “I promise.”
He started telling them everything. Wayne’s approval, the confrontation with Quinn, Eddie coming to the rescue, the kiss.
“Lunch was definitely relevant, dude,” Argyle said. “Getting parental approval is super important in a relationship. Especially if they’re close.”
Steve nodded. “So does the story live up the hype?” he asked the girls.
Robin rolled her eyes. “I suppose.”
Chrissy giggled. “It was so cute, Stevie. I’m happy for you!”
Steve waited for Erica, who sat there tapping her lips for a moment. She cocked her head. “Ehhh...it was all right.”
Everyone protested, talking over each other.
She burst out laughing. “God, you guys so easy. Of course it was awesome. Super sweet, too.”
Steve opened his mouth to say something when the bell over the door sounded, announcing the arrival of his next client.
He turned to greet them as everyone but Robin scattered. As much as he would love to gossip about his newly minted love life, he had clients that wanted tattoos.
*
Eddie kept licking his lips the whole way to his apartment.
“What made you change your mind?” Wayne asked. “About dating Steve? Him saying ‘I love you’?”
Eddie bit his lip and shook his head. “I had made the decision before that. It was just with Seth stalking me, I didn’t want to get Steve hurt if Seth thought we were together.”
Wayne nodded. “If Seth would threaten Steve over being your friend and tattoo artist, I shudder to think what he would have done if your relationship was more serious.”
“In fact I was going to tell him before Seth threatened him,” Eddie said with a sigh. “We had plans to have dinner at his place and I was going to tell him then.”
“But then Seth showed up?” Wayne asked.
Eddie nodded. “And then that night, I was going to at least let him know that after the whole thing with Seth got resolved, I was going to kiss the hell out him, but that didn’t work out either.”
Wayne tilted his head to the side. “What do you mean?”
“That was the night he ran into an ex,” Eddie explained. “The ex. The one that broke his heart. Found out a whole bunch of other shit that night, too. I spent most of the night trying to console him.”
“So the stars finally aligned today, then?” Wayne asked.
“About god damned time, too,” Eddie agreed fiercely.
Wayne hummed. “He’s good for ya, Ed. I don’t think I’ve seen you this happy in a long time. Even when Seth was breathing down your neck, you were more solid. You had your friends, but with Steve standing beside you, you looked like you could handle whatever the world threw at you as long as you had him.”
Eddie blushed, annoyed that driving kept him from ducking his head or shoving hair in his mouth to cover the flush on his cheeks. “He makes me feel brave, because he’s been through shit too and he’s still standing. Still moving forward each day. I love that about him.”
“Good.”
They drove the rest of the trip in silence. When they got back to the apartment they chatted as Eddie helped Wayne pack for his journey back to Hawkins.
“I want to see you both come Labor Day,” Wayne growled. “No excuses, you hear?”
Eddie nodded. “Yes, sir.” He gave him a jaunty salute.
It looked absolutely ridiculous coming from a long haired metalhead and Wayne’s snort cinched it.
Eddie grinned but gave him a gentle shove. “Steve wasn’t lying when he said that was the plan, by the way. We had been talking about taking him down to meet you since the first week of us becoming friends.”
Wayne nodded sagely. “I understand that he’s not close with his parents.”
“It was big ole mess,” Eddie said softly. “His parents are very recently divorced, like it was finalized last month, recent.”
Wayne hummed. “I remember you saying something about that,” he said. “At least you had an uncle who cared when your parents decided to be shit, it doesn’t seem like Steve had that option.”
“He was close to his grandpa though,” Eddie murmured. “On his mom’s side. He was really broken up when the man died.”
Wayne zipped up his suitcase. “How old was Steve?”
Eddie shrugged. “Young. Eight or nine. His grandfather got cancer before his mom met his dad. His grandpa had struggled with the disease before it finally took him. Steve said that it had ravaged so much of his body that his death certificate was like a laundry list of possible causes of death. Heart failure, kidney failure, cancer...you name it, it was probably on the damn thing.”
“That ring he wears all the time,” Wayne asked, “that his grandfather’s?”
Eddie nodded. “His dad tried to take it for years, saying it inappropriate to leave to a little boy.”
“Only he wasn’t going to stay a little boy forever,” Wayne said. “I guessing that since he still has it, his mom interfered?”
“Maureen Harrington wasn’t going to be winning any best mom awards at any point in Steve’s life,” Eddie scoffed, “but she did do some shit and hiding that ring was one of them.”
“I’m glad he had someone looking out for him,” Wayne said. “I’m sorry it wasn’t all the time. But he at least had something some of the time.”
“He’s not jealous of me or Robin,” Eddie said, “Or anyone of his friends that have a good home life. He’s happy with his found family. He loves them as though they are blood.”
Wayne smiled. “I’m happy for you, Ed. You’ve got something real special with Steve.”
Eddie blushed. “I love him.”
“I think the whole world knows it’s mutual at this point,” Wayne said with a small shake of his head.
Eddie just grinned.
*
Steve grinned as Chrissy wandered out of her room for the third time today. The first time was that she forgot her purse in her car. The second time it was because she had a question for Robin (completely made up and not something that was essential at all to her job). The third time it was because she wanted to ask Robin if she wanted anything from the deli on the corner for lunch.
Could you tell that Vickie was being trained by Robin today?
Vickie put her hand on Robin’s arm to get her to slow down in her nervous and very rapid fire explanation of the phone system and Steve thought Chrissy was going to explode.
Chrissy was wearing a pink blouse with spaghetti straps and white lacy cardigan over the tightest jeans Steve had ever seen and he’s been to a lot of Corroded Coffin shows. Her hair was up in an artfully messy ponytail and her makeup was tasteful and very pink.
Steve was just grateful she hadn’t paired the outfit with anything high heeled and instead chose white ballet flats. He was always worried someone was going to sprain their ankles in high heels walking on their hardwood floors.
He winced as Chrissy’s poor attempt at flirting fell flat.
“Oh,” Robin said, “Steve already ordered him and me Chinese, sorry.”
“I’d love something though,” Vickie said brightly. “Do they have a turkey club?”
Chrissy sputtered for a moment before she nodded meekly. “Yeah.”
“Great!” Vickie continued. “Just let me know how much and I’ll wire you the funds.”
Chrissy nodded again and with a squeak, dashed back into her room. Steve watched as Vickie’s smile turned knowing.
He shook his head and went to go talk to his apprentice.
“Someone’s got a crush,” he said, leaning against the door frame, with his arms folded.
Chrissy threw her arms in the air. “At least you noticed. I don’t think she has.”
Steve chuckled and made his way over to her, swinging the door shut behind him.
“I love her,” he said sitting down on her client lounger, “but she absolutely loses her head when a pretty girl is around. Gay, straight, bi. Doesn’t matter she becomes an absolute mess.”
“I’ve noticed,” Chrissy said bitterly. She thought about Vickie and Mandy and how Robin was just goo around them.
He hummed, knowing exactly what she was thinking. “Here’s the thing though, you are one hundred percent ahead of the game compared to the other two girls.”
Chrissy scoffed. “What makes you think that?”
Steve grinned. “Mandy has a boyfriend, soon to be fiance and Vickie could be bisexual. But she could also be straight. Robin knows you’re a lesbian. You have the advantage of her knowing where she stands with you.”
Chrissy blinked. “Oh.”
“You want to get the girl?” Steve asked. She nodded. “Then you’ve got to step up your game. Time to woo her and not just flirt with her.”
Chrissy chewed on her lip. “But how do I do that?”
Steve shook his head. “Well for starters, paying attention. Robin and I always get Chinese on Fridays.”
She blinked for a moment, pulled out her phone and then the light bulb went off above her head. “Oops.”
“Yeah...”
She took a deep breath. “Do you think I have a chance?”
“She thinks the cheerleading thing is scary hot, so...”
Chrissy grinned. “It’s short skirt, isn’t it?”
Steve shrugged. “And the cute little socks.”
Chrissy laughed. “Can’t forget those.”
He turned to walk away, but she stopped him. “Thanks for this, Steve. I know you didn’t have to.”
Steve just smiled softly and then walked out of the room, leaving her alone with her thoughts. Thoughts on how to get the girl of her dreams.

here's the first part to a little domestic steddie thing that I don't have a name for yet, but I thought it up last night and couldn't sleep while I started planning it in my head.
highlights will include: friends to lovers, roommates, slice of life, getting together, hispanic!eddie (MY LOVE), i may sprinkle in the fact that Steve is HOH (but I haven't decided if i'd like him to be in this one), and possibly the first smut i'll have ever written 👀
this is just to get my thoughts out so go into this knowing that at Robin and Steve know that Eddie is Gay, Eddie and Steve know that Robin is gay, and only Robin knows that Steve thinks he's bi. You know, classic steddie fic things.
----------
“Okay, you guys, time to head out, no Dustin, you can’t stay the night.”
“Damn, how’d you know? Dustin asks, picking up his bag and shuffling toward the door to get his shoes on.
“Because you always ask.” Will admonishes his friend.
“Exactly. Thank you, Will.”
“I can’t believe the last session is next week.” Lucas says to himself, slipping on his shoes and ducking down quickly to arrange Max’s in front of her so she can get them on.
“Oh no, what will we do then?” the Max in question snarks back.
“You don’t even play, you can’t be sarcastic about it.”
“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t be sarcastic about, Wheeler.” Max follows Mike out the door and smacks him in the shin with her cane.
“We will see you tomorrow Steve?” El asks, stopping at his side to look up at him with those curious eyes.
“Of course, supergirl, it’s the ‘Everything’s Fine’ party.” He grins at her and she smiles back, moving to grab her shoes as well. Steve stops her “Everything is fine, right?”
She stares off into space for just a second, then smiles back up at him. “Yes. I do not feel any of the Upside Down or of One.”
Steve lets out the breath he always holds when he checks with one of what they are now calling “The Wonder Twins”, El and Will. “Thanks, El, sorry to always ask.”
“It is okay, Steve. I don’t mind.”
“Alright you lot, you heard Stevie. ¡Ya deja de chingar! Ándale, ándale!” Eddie yells at the kids, shoo-ing them out the front door and into his van while the other Hellfire guys get into Jeff’s car. They’d officially disbanded Hellfire after everything happened last year, but still meet for D&D (now at Steve’s house) under a still undecided name.
“No need to be rude, Eduardo, we’re going.” Erica taunts him.
Eddie seems to glitch out, “¿Sabes español?”
“Eso si.”
Eddie sucks his teeth, “Dios mio, now I gotta deal with that; alright, lets go, crotch-goblins, gotta get you home. Be back soon, cariño!” He yells to Steve, still on the front step before he points to Erica and shuts the door in her face.
“I still have no idea what he’s calling me. Why don’t you just tell me? You know spanish.” Steve asks Robin as he comes back inside and closes the door.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to intrude.”
“You literally translated secret russian code, is that not intruding?”
“Yeah, but like, they don’t matter. Eddie does.” He’s looking at her like she’s crazy. “It feels like spying on a friend.”
“Whatever you say, Buckley.”
“Just ask Eddie to teach you. He could use the practice”
“What do you mean? He’s fluent isn’t he?”
“Well, he really only has Wayne to speak spanish with regularly, sometimes me, but usually it’s english. He could start to lose it.”
“That can happen?”
“Yeah, sometimes. I don’t have many people to talk to in Italian, so that’s my worst language. I used to be fluent in that too but if I don’t use it, I lose it.” she shrugs and Steve takes that in.
“I just want to know what he’s calling me, it’s not anything bad is it?”
She smiles softly at him, “No Dingus, it’s not bad. Promise.”
They clean up the rest of the stuff lying around from the kids being there, Robin is rambling on about something that happened at her last solo shift at work, and Steve’s trying to contain his nerves.
“Querido, Estoy en casa!” Eddie yells from the doorway when he gets back. “Now what’s this surprise?”
“Let me guess, ‘Honey, I’m home’?” Steve asks, rounding the corner from the kitchen, still drying his hands.
Eddie points at him, “You got it, Querido.” and gives him a wink before waltzing his way into the living room in front of Steve.
Steve rolls his eyes fondly, and wills the heat that’d crept up on his face from being called ‘Honey’ away while he puts the towel back in the kitchen.
“Okay,” he claps his hands when he walks into the living room, his two friends sitting on the couch in front of him “I have a proposal for you.”
“Oh, Stevie! Of course I’ll marry you!” Eddie jumps up and immediately koalas onto Steve, causing him to take a stabilizing step backward.
“Not that kind of proposal, Eds.” Steve chuckles and goes to unwrap Eddie’s arms and legs from around him.
“So you’re not gonna make an honest woman outta me?” Robin says from the couch as Steve comes around the coffee table, Eddie still latched to his front.
“No, Robs, still not that kind of proposal, sorry.”
Steve finally gets Eddie’s limbs out from around him over the couch so he bounces to a landing on the couch next to Robin.
“That’s bogus..”
“Here.” Steve hands them each a manila folder from the mantle, each one with their name written on it in a thick black marker.
“Okay, here goes. So it’s been a year since Vecna, Will and El both haven’t felt hide nor hair of him since, and since these goddamn events usually happen at least once a year, I think we are in the clear.” He pauses to knock on the wooden coffee table. “So I figure now that Eddie is healed all the way, and he and Wayne are set up well enough again with their hush money, Max is doing pretty good at her physical therapy, the Byers are back in town with a not-dead Hopper….well.”
He gestures to their folders, and they both look down at the same time, like they’d forgotten they were there.
As they open them and start flipping through their stack of papers, Steve continues. “Robin, I know you wanted to take a gap year anyway, so I put down entry for the fall of ‘87 on the applications I sent in, I hope that’s okay.” She looks up at him in shock. “There’s a great International Relations program there too if you want to stay after you get your core classes out of the way? But there are a couple acceptance letters in there so you can take your pick. And I got a job at this little diner nearby to the campus just because I wanted to, but I will pay your way if you want since I’m the one who applied for you so you can just live off your hush money.”
“A-and Eddie, I asked around and there’s a great underground music scene that I think you’d fit right into, and I met a guy named Daryl who was real nice and owned a music shop down the road from the diner who is uhm…something? He wrote “call me” and his number on the flyer he gave me so I feel like it’d maybe be safe for you to work there i-if you wanted to, you know. You could also just live off your hush money. I don’t mind.”
Both of them are stock still and dead quiet. He finally looks down at them on the couch.
Both of their faces are blank, like they don’t know what it is they are supposed to feel, which, Steve supposes, is better than pissed off.
“Oh fuck, this was too much wasn’t it? Sorry, sorry, just pretend I didn’t say anything, I’ll just—“ he reaches for their papers and they both jerk away from him at the same time.
“Fuck off, this is my stack of papers, get your own!” Eddie yells at the same time Robin yells “No! I’m keeping these forever!” and Steve pulls his hands back in surrender.
“You still haven’t gotten to the proposal part, Dingus. What’s going on?”
“Oh! Uhm, I bought a house? In Indianapolis? My parents are staying away after the earthquake, and sold the house so I leave to sign the last papers and get the keys in two weeks. So that means Eddie can finish his D&D thing in time too.”
They’re quiet for a beat again, then Eddie asks “You bought a house?”
“Yeah, with the money I saved up from Scoops and Family Video, plus what my parents would leave..I only had to use a little bit of my government money in the end. It’s not much, and it needs work that’s why I got it as cheap as I did, but it has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and—actually, I put pictures at the bottom of your stacks if you want to-“
They both shuffle their papers around until they find what they’re looking for. Then immediately look at the others’ like they are comparing notes.
“Robin, that’s the bedroom at the front of the house, it’s got two windows and one has a window seat, so you’ll get plenty of light, and Eddie, your bedroom is the one in the back corner, it’s only got one window but it’s pretty big and I thought that maybe you’d like that one since it just looks out into the woods like yours used to in your trailer. I was going to take the master, but Robin, if you want that instead so you don’t have to share a bathroom with one of us, that’s cool too, I don’t mind.” Steve rushes it all out.
“You want us to move with you?” Eddie’s voice is quiet, eyes wide.
“Uhm, yeah. I do. That’s the proposal. I figured I’d ask you guys to come with. That way we’re out of Hawkins but still close enough if something does happen,” Steve knocks on the coffee table again with two knuckles, “Robin can go to school, and hopefully Indy is far enough out of the way that Eddie can make a clean-ish start?
“And you don’t have to pay rent, It’s all paid for with cash so just maybe buy groceries, or help with the utilities? Or none of it! Like I said, I kinda just thrust this upon you, so no worries if you want to just mooch.” he huffs out a nervous laugh.
Eddie and Robin take a look at each other then Robin is shooting off the couch and (almost tripping) over the coffee table to latch onto Steve
“Of course I’m coming with you, Dingus, we’re two halves of a whole idiot, we gotta stick together.” She unhooks from him and starts wandering away up the stairs, talking about ‘We gotta tell Keith, and my mom is going to be so excited, but she’s definitely going to think I’m pregnant or something,’ like she’s going to pack away her overnight bag from the guest room and be ready to go just like that.
“Eddie? What about you? I get it if you don’t, but like I said, I figured you’d want to get out of here too an–”
“Joder si, pendejo! I’m not gonna turn down a chance to get the fuck outta here!” He jumps up and crashes into Steve once again, squeezing him tight. “It means a lot that you’d want me to come with, Stevie.” He says quietly over Steve’s shoulder.
Steve wraps his arms around Eddie and stuffs his face into his curls, he smells like cinnamon. “Of course Eddie, anytime.”
Eddie pulls back with a soft smile, and gives Steve a look that makes him want to melt into a puddle. Eddie’s gaze flicks down momentarily, then there's a creak from the stairs and Eddie lets him go, backing towards the door. “I gotta go tell Wayne, he’s really going to be excited for me to get outta his hai–out from under his feet.”
Steve busts out laughing at that “I’m so gonna tell him that you said that.”
“You better not, pendejo, otherwise he’ll kill me dead and you’ll have one less roommate!” then Eddie’s turning and flying out the door to his van, taking off toward his and his uncle's new shared apartment.
“Okay, that one’s bad.” Robin says when she’s come down the stairs.
“Pendejo?”
“Yeah, it means ‘asshole’.” She laughs at Steve’s hurt expression, “Oh don’t take it too seriously, Dingus, obviously he was saying it in a joking way.”
“I really need to learn spanish.”
---------
I translated the best I could, PLEASE tell me if something is off in translation:
"¡Ya deja de chingar! Ándale, ándale!" - basically, "Stop your bitching! Hurry up!"
“¿Sabes español?” - You know spanish?
"Eso si" - Yes indeed (my husband says this one a lot lmao)
"cariño" - sweetheart
"Dios mio" - oh my god
“Querido, Estoy en casa!” - Honey, I'm home! (Querido meaning honey, darling, love, etc.)
"Joder si, pendejo!" - Fuck yeah, asshole! (said affectionately :) )

stevie boy with a virgin gf that’s all shy and soft and giggly, he was her first kiss after being friends for a year or two, and i just can’t stop thinking about how careful steve would be with her daddy kink involved for sure and how devoted he always is, how in love. gods, he loves her so much. he calls her all the pet names he can think of, kisses her all over all the time, praises her and shows her off, babies her every day, treats her like a princess, always spoiling her. and she’s just as crazy about him!!! so proud to be his, so clearly in love, and steve isn’t used to this level of reciprocity!!! even though she blushes whenever he’s sweet to her and giggles when he makes her flustered and how she melts when he takes care of her and always needs his guidance and touch and protection— imagine his cute little gf is just obsessed with his cock, even if he hasn’t given it to her yet, and steve knows… he knows he’d have to be slow and soft and careful with her, to get her worked up to taking his cock. steve would ease her into the sexual part of their relationship only when she’s ready ofc with such care and softness :( and she just loves having him pressed against her, all of him all over her, just covering her with his body lots of size kink i think and she loves having his cock smushed against her when he hugs her from behind or sits her between his legs. even when he’s soft, ‘cause he’s still big and chubby and she needs to touch!!! she’d be so eager to move forward and have sex with him but steve takes it slow to make sure it’s perfect for her, to get her used to intimacy, to not hurt her, and he often has to remind you that you have to take it slow! that his cock is too big! you need to work up to it! don’t be a brat! be a good girl and listen to me! i—
😫😫😫😫😫
oh my GOD HARMONIA. first of all youre my favorite celebrity ily im freaking out that you sent me this.
i hope this is something like you imagined ! <3 im actually working on another “first time” fic rn so there is more to come <3
Tumblr media
every-time he stretches or she thinks he isnt looking her eyes go straight to his dick and shes just drooling. but shes so obvious about it. she really thinks he doesn’t notice but god he does. in fact, she will “sneak” a glance at him, and then a few minutes later she looks again and its bigger? and then shes trying to figure out why hes turned on and is so confused. poor girl is drooling over his cock and hasnt even seen it. hes so hard all the time. of course he wants to take things slowly but shes making it so difficult for him. he has to fight every bone in his body not to indulge her and let her touch him. but hes a gentleman, so of course hes not going to do that.
Tumblr media
when the time comes, shes grinding down onto him, the feeling of his cock against her making all rational thoughts go out the window. hes laying her down and working her up. first with his fingers, then with his mouth.
“want you steve”
“ you arent ready yet lovey” with the fondest smile shes ever seen.
“please can i touch you?”
how can he say no to that? letting her go down on him, she pulls his cock out and is mesmerized by the way it almost hits her in the face. hes literally about to hyperventilate above her. the sight of her right by his cock, finally getting to see it. the second thing she notices is that hes huge. a good eight or nine inches and thick. she wraps her pretty hand around the middle and gives the tip a little kiss. the sigh that leaves his lips makes her look up at him. and she goes back in to touch him more and he just picks her up and places her back on the bed cause he knows hes not going to last long if she keeps doing that.
he pushes only the tip inside her at first, spreading her lips open by moving her thighs a little farther apart. he know how to make it as painless as possible, making sure her hips are propped up on a pillow. shes wet enough and open enough that the entry is pretty easy, but the stretch isnt. shes whimpering from the pain, but it just feels so good that she cant stop herself from wanting more. especially since hes rubbing soothing circles into her hips and reassuring her constantly.
“shhh, its okay baby, ive got you. you want me to stop? you dont hav-”
“no! … want more…” a little shy as she finishes her sentence.
hes smiling so softly at her because why does she make it so hard for him to tell her no.
“not yet honey, youre still getting used to it.” and youre arching your back and writhing beneath him, “you gotta tell me when to move.”
and of course she wont lie and say it doesnt hurt. but she just wants to be full. so shes whimpering and moaning while steve occupies himself with her breasts and waist. “doing so good baby, be a good girl for me okay? love you so much.” the pain finally subsiding completely. he can feel her relax around his cock.
“more please steve”
“ok sweetheart, hold onto me alright? ive got you.” and hes pushing himself deeper inside her, having his arm around her waist keep her grounded and his hand on her face to keep her looking at him. her mouth wide open as he finally bottoms out.
“such a good girl. such a good girl baby. good job beautiful.” before lacing their hands together. <3

Fav lines game 💫
rules: share your favorite lines or paragraph you've written from one of your fics, posted or wip.
thanks for the tags @bidisasterevankinard @diazsdimples @tizniz @daffi-990 💖
since I'm indecisive and, like Stevie, do what I want, I'm choosing lines from each of my 'ships
Buddie - from honey, when you call my name
It’s okay. Eddie can ask for this. He can want this. Isn’t it just one of the (many) points Frank’s been trying to get across? That he doesn’t have to settle for the bare minimum of whatever life hands him? That he can request and desire and, most importantly, receive. And anyway, it’s Buck. Who would be more enthusiastic to give than him? “I, uh, want you to have me,” he whispers. “I‘ve never. Not with another person, but. I want you to.” Jesus Christ, for all the confidence he started with he sure can’t seem to find any now.  “It’s okay if you haven’t. If you’re asking what I think you’re asking.” Buck presses a kiss to his hair. “You can have it. But I need you to ask me.” Another soft kiss, so light that Eddie could have imagined it. “Need to be sure.” Eddie squeezes his eyes shut tight, only for a second though. Because he wants Buck to see, and maybe he wants to allow Buck to see him, here in this sacred space they’re creating. He tilts his head back, baring himself. Offering himself up for Buck to take.
Lutalia - from stay here honey (i don't wanna share)
“You’re not getting soft on me, are you?” Nat teases. “I might start thinking you want me for more than just my body.” Lucy snorts and rolls her eyes. “This is a one-time thing. Don’t get used to it.” “Well, if you’re interested…” She trails off, tracing a finger down the center of Lucy’s chest, over her abdomen, and dragging the sheet down as she goes. She pauses to rub the heel of her palm over Lucy’s neatly trimmed patch of coarse blond curls. Nat’s gaze turns darker, hungrier. Like she’d eat Lucy alive, which doesn’t seem like such a terrible thing. “I don’t mind going back to something more familiar. You know, in the spirit of putting you at ease.” “How very altruistic of you.”
David/Patrick - from I know all your secrets
“Don’t go.” The words are barely more than a whisper. Still, David may as well have screamed them for as raw, vulnerable and hollowed out as he feels. He bites down on the inside of his lower lip, a pitiful, broken attempt to hold himself together. If Patrick wants to leave, David won’t stop him. He’ll stay frozen in place, stone faced and unyielding, until Patrick is gone.  Once upon a time he would have tried for nonchalant, but that act is no good anymore. Patrick doesn’t just mean something to him now – he is everything. Anything less and David will crack, bleeding his emotions everywhere until there’s nothing left.
Twylexis - from the with my heart in my lap wip
Twyla steadies herself, maintaining her hold on Alexis so they’re almost walking as one down the sidewalk. She’s a comforting line of warmth huddled against Alexis’s side. Her cheeks are pink and flushed from dancing, and her lips curl up in a satisfied smile.  “Wasn’t that fun?” Twyla stops abruptly to look up. “That was fun.” “Yeah, doll. It was,” Alexis assures her, tapping a finger to the tip of Twyla’s nose and indulging in the soft chuckle it earns her.  “Are you sure you wouldn’t rather have gone with Tommy? He was having a really great time dancing with you.” Twyla’s giddiness turns to something more subdued and vulnerable that makes Alexis’s heart twist and ache.  “No, Twy.” Alexis presses a kiss to the crown of Twyla’s hair, then tilts her chin to drown in a mesmerizing sea of green. “Trust me when I say there’s nobody in there for me.”

In which Eddie likes words that are pretty or funky or weird, and Steve goes on a treasure hunt for Good Words after learning that they make Eddie happy. They are utterly in love.
🤍 also on ao3
Eddie, with his bright eyes and brighter mind, has opened Steve’s eyes to a great many things. Steve just never anticipated that words would one day be included in that.
It starts with his name. They’re hanging out at Eddie’s and Wayne’s new place, and his boyfriend is pouring over something — Steve can’t quite tell if he’s doing school work or working on his DnD campaign — when Steve hears it.
“Stevie.”
He looks up to see what Eddie wants, if he needs anything or if he wants to run something by him, ask for a different word, the time, anything. But Eddie isn’t looking at him.
Steve frowns slightly and takes to watching his boyfriend instead of turning back to the magazine he’s been reading. Eddie is more interesting anyway, even when nothing’s happening. And, well, he’s right there for Steve to look at. How the hell is he supposed not to watch the way the light catches in those pretty curls and makes them shimmer, thanks to the new conditioner Steve bought him last week.
Eddie is beautiful. So Steve watches.
And then he says it again, quietly, as if testing how the word feels on his tongue. “Stevie. Steve. Stevie. Hmm.”
Eddie doesn’t even seem to be aware of it, and it makes Steve smile, leaning back into the armrest of the couch, his head against the backrest, his view of Eddie unobstructed and perfect. He just wishes he could see his face, but there is a curtain of hair that sort of prevents that.
“Stevie.”
It’s quiet, somewhere between contemplative and certain, playful and serious. Steve has absolutely no idea what’s happening, but he likes the way Eddie says his name.
After a while, he can’t hold back on the affectionate amusement anymore and gently calls for Eddie’s attention. “Are you just saying my name?”
And when Eddie looks up, he almost looks like a little kid that has been caught trying to sneak into a candy shop even though his parents said no.
“Uh.” He leans back slightly, his pencil landing on the table and Steve follows it with his eyes, when—
His smile grows, and so does this fondness inside his chest, the affection, the want and need to go over there and wrap Eddie in the tightest, longest, most intimate hug and never let go.
“Babe, are you writing my name, too?”
He knows he sounds terribly besotted — because he is. All of that is extremely endearing.
Eddie, seeing that Steve isn’t mad or annoyed or demanding an explanation, relaxes immediately and shoots Steve one of his shy smiles. The ones that are for Steve’s eyes only.
“Yeah? I mean, it’s a good name, Stevie, what can I say?” And then, with a different smile, his lips form the word again. “Stevie.” The smile grows, like it just makes him really happy to say it like that.
“Hey, if it makes you happy, don’t let me stop you.”
Eddie chews on his lip for a moment, not looking away from Steve, before he shrugs very slowly. “It does.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. I like it when words end on that ‘ie’ sound, y’know? I’m not even sure why I like it, but. Steve just feels too short, too crass, too… Too King Steve, if you know what I mean. Adding that extra syllable makes it feel more complete, more rounded, more… I don’t know, it’s just better like this. Stevie. You’re not Steve, you’re Stevie, because those feel like very different names to me.”
Eddie shrugs again and then looks at the paper, huffing a laugh and nudging it with his pencil, smile still in place, though it’s a bit sheepish now.
“And then sometimes when I like a word, or when I’ve made it better, I have to write it down. Or, don’t have to. But I want to, and it’s fun. Sometimes it makes me feel very accomplished afterwards.” He chuckles, scratching at the light stubble on his chin. “It’s a bit silly, I know.”
Steve has been listening with rapt attention, soaking up every new detail about this boy that he likes so much, only to like him even more in the end.
But he gets up at that last point Eddie makes and walks over until he’s standing between his legs. His hands find their way into Eddie’s hair where he’s tucking it behind his ear, caressing his cheeks, making Eddie look up at him with those bright, trusting, vulnerable eyes.
“Hey,” he murmurs, hoping that Eddie doesn’t feel ridiculed or exposed just because Steve can’t ever stop being so damn emotional about him. “Eddie. We’ve been through hell and back. Fuck, we’ve been to hell and back. It’s kind of a miracle we’re still alive, okay, so, frankly, if saying my name like that makes you a little happy because it feels right, I am not going to judge you. I’m not asking you to stop. In fact, it’s kinda cute.”
Eddie flushes and tries to hide his face, but Steve keeps him where he is and catches his lips in a tender kiss, then his nose, his forehead, his temple.
“And so what if it’s a bit silly or whatever! You’re right, actually,”
Now it’s Eddie’s turn to look surprised. “How do you mean?”
“It does sound better like that, the way you say it. Nicer. I like it. So don’t stop on my account, yeah?”
The surprise melts away and leaves in its wake something softer, something tender, something more. More than relief and understanding and affection.
“Okay, Stevie,” Eddie says, still looking up at him with those big, brown eyes, illuminated by the desk light, and Steve can’t quite catch his breath.
So he steals Eddie’s instead when he leans in for another kiss. Slow, careful, because something has changed between them. And it’s a good something, that’s for sure.
Over the next few days, Steve realises that Eddie refuses to call him anything but Stevie for a while. No pet names, no exaggerated made-up terms of endearment, nothing. And he loves it. Loves seeing the small, shy smile on Eddie’s lips every time, loves the way his own heart skips, because he’s never been Stevie.
He never got to be Stevie. It was Steven for his parents, Steve for school, King Steve for high school, and Dingus for Robin. This new name, handed to him on a satin pillow of trust and affection, brings something new to him, something softer. It makes him believe, hope, that he could be something softer, too. Soft because that’s what Eddie sees in him, because Eddie believes in him, because Eddie makes him all of that and more.
Because Eddie makes him Stevie.
And he thinks he’s falling in love with that boy.
One night, as they’re holding each other, trying not to fall asleep because the night is fleeting and they barely saw each other today, Eddie refers back to that day a while back.
“Y’know, I think the whole… Ordeal has done quite a number on me.”
Steve freezes. They don’t usually do this before falling asleep, they know better than to challenge the nightmares like that, but he’s sure Eddie has a point with this, so he waits for it.
“The almost dying part, or…?”
“Maybe, but actually just the whole thing. Because during D&D today, I… Or, well, not during DnD, because nothing can break the Dungeon Master, thank God! But before and after, it’s like I’d forgotten how to talk again.”
Steve blinks. Eddie, forgetting how to talk? Eddie who’s always rambling, always muttering something or other, always keeping the conversation going even when there’s none to be had — forgetting how to talk? Again? That’s what trips up Steve the most, so he finds himself asking.
“Again?”
Eddie shifts in his arms, rolls Steve onto his back and crawls on top of him, his head on Steve’s chest, hands still finding his and drawing patterns on his palm.
“When I was a boy, I was… Well, let’s say, I didn’t quite understand how basic communication worked, and no one really bothered to teach me. I’d just repeat words, repeat questions, entire sentences without really getting my point across, y’know? Like, I knew the words a lot of the time, but connecting everything was a bit overwhelming. It got better in time, I had a pretty great teacher, too, and then learned to just. Mask it. I’d be the crazy guy, sure, the one who’s not making sense when you ask him a simple question, the one who will answer in terminology he read in books because characters there can talk, right, and they don’t get made fun of, and they just. Get to live. By the time Wayne took me in, I knew how to say what I wanted to say, how to answer questions, even though I would still evade them if I didn’t know the answer.”
“The Shire is burning, so Mordor it is,” Steve says quietly, and Eddie lifts his head to meet his eyes in the dim light of the room.
“Hm?”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to… But when. At Skull Rock. Dustin asked you to come along and I said we can’t just take a walk with you because you were still wanted, and then he asked you. You just said—“
“The Shire is burning,” Eddie fills in, as though realisation only just hits him. “So Mordor it is.” He swallows and puts his head back on Steve’s chest, where Steve’s hand immediately finds its way back into his hair. “Yeah. Like that. You got it.”
“I always thought it was just a quirk. But it’s not?”
Eddie sighs and seems to want to bury further into Steve. “I mean, I don’t even know at this point. But you understand what I mean.”
“Yeah,” Steve says, though he’s not sure he really does. Doesn’t think he could, really. “So, what happened with the kids today?”
“Remember how I have this thing with words? Where I’ll just say them over and over again because they feel good or funky or weird, all that jazz? Well, today’s word, apparently, was luminous.”
“Luminous?”
“Luminous. And boy, I think Dustin was mighty annoyed with me. Thought I made fun of him the whole drive home. And I used to have this under control, the funky words and the non-answers and the fucking quirky Munson freak show. Turns out, I don’t. And I blame Vecna.”
Eddie is done, and he’s quiet, and Steve doesn’t know what to say. Doesn’t think there’s anything he can say, could say, to help.
And he feels stupid when all he says after a while is, “Luminous is a good word, though.”
But Eddie laughs, and the tension between his shoulders leaves, and he presses a kiss to Steve’s chest. Maybe not so stupid then. “It really is.”
“What’s it mean?”
“It means that something’s shining or glowing. Radiant. Bright. Something to do with light.”
Steve smiles for some reason, forming the word with his lips again. “Good word.”
Eddie just hums, and Steve mulls over everything that Eddie just told him. They lie there in silence for a while longer, before a thought strikes him. He braces himself the way he always does when he’s about to be vulnerable, when he’s about to expose himself and hope that no one is gonna strike where it’ll hurt the most.
“Is that why you’re so patient with me?”
“Come again?”
“Your… Your difficulty with, uhm, with communication sometimes, right? Is that why you, why you don’t mind when I need a moment to get things, or to say things, or when I need you to use different words? You never make me fee stupid about it, not like… Anyway, I always wondered why you didn’t mind. Guess it makes a little sense now, huh?”
Eddie is still for a moment before he raises not just his head but his entire body, coming up to straddle Steve’s hips and look him in the eye.
“You deserve patience, Stevie. First of all. And second of all, it’s not a hardship — and it wouldn’t be a hardship for the buttheads either if they weren’t a bunch of self entitled teenagers. You’re not stupid. You hear me?”
Steve nods, and Eddie cocks his eyebrow. “Not stupid,” Steve concedes, a smile forming on his lips. “Thank you.”
“And don’t you forget it,” Eddie threatens, before cuddling back into his earlier position on Steve’s chest. “But yeah, I think you might have a point that you and I, we just…”
“Match?”
“Yeah, Stevie,” Eddie murmurs, the smile evident even in his voice. “We match.”
They fall asleep like that, holding hands, not willing to let go.
And that is how Steve finds himself looking at words differently. He listens to people differently, still oftentimes not catching their meaning, but he’ll catch their words as though they’re separated from any sort of meaning. He’s collecting them, and remembers that Hop once told him what he and El used to do.
They’d have this word of the day deal going on, where El would learn one new, possibly big word each day.
Maybe it’s silly, maybe it’s even offensive or patronising, but he still ends up telling Eddie about it, and the boy’s eyes are, well, almost luminous.
“You’d want to do that?”
“Sure,” Steve shrugs, tugging Eddie in for a hug because he never wants to stop holding him, dammit. “Maybe I could learn a thing or two, improve my vocabulary just to defy Dustin one of these days.”
And Eddie just laughs into Steve’s throat, sounding happy and bubbly and excited.
Steve realises he would do anything just for Eddie to laugh like this.
They make it a routine. If Steve wants to get a goodnight kiss, he has to tell Eddie at least one Good Word, as they’re calling them now. The rule gets omitted more often than not, because Eddie simply cannot resist kissing him. Ever. Steve still collects the words for him, catches Eddie writing them down sometimes, over and over again, and just hooks his chin over his shoulder, never interrupting him. Never judging.
Sometimes when they don’t know how a word is written or what it means, they’ll have a look at the dictionaries in Steve’s mother’s library, or call Nancy or one of the Wonder Whiz Kids with their endless wisdom; though even Dustin doesn’t know how to properly pronounce iridescence. They don’t care, though, because it looks pretty enough.
The questions rise, people demand to know what’s up, and one day Steve tells them. Not the entire story about Eddie’s struggles with words and communication, but he tells them that, “Sometimes words that look or sound pretty, or funky, or weird, delight Eddie.”
“Is delight one such word?” Lucas asks, and Steve flips him the bird.
“Fuck off, Sinclair, or you can leave if you’re going to make fun of this.”
They all realise pretty quickly that Steve is serious, and thad this is important to him. No one makes another snide remark and they all listen carefully as he tells them about how he and Eddie have been collecting the words.”
“Like me,” El says, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips and Steve melts as he turns to her.
“Yeah, El. Like you. I told Eddie how you did it back then, and he absolutely loved it.”
Eleven looks so proud when he tells her, and Steve just really fucking loves these kids. Most of the time, at least.
After that, nobody questions them anymore when Eddie or Steve call, needing their help with a word or two. Especially when they see how genuinely relieved and happy Eddie is when the remarks, the questions, the teasing stops. Even though he tries to hide it.
One by one, everyone in their chaotic little group contributes to their treasure of words. They try to be sneaky about it, but Eddie finds out, of course.
It’s on a Trauma Family Bonding Night where there’s pizza and ice cream in abundance and they all come together at Steve’s place, even Hop and Joyce joining them for the night. They talk the whole night through, and everyone will have brought their word. Ineffable, from Mike. Philanthropist, from Nancy. Epiphany, from Max. Catharsis, from Will, which quickly sends Eddie into a happy little spiral, rambling like he did that first time about Stevie.
“It’s just, it’s a great word! Starts with a weak syllable, almost unimportant, but it’s crass, a harsh beginning even in its irrelevance. But then you get to the ‘tharsis’, and it’s big and bright and you can’t ignore it, can’t not open your mouth and by extension your mind and heart to this change, this realisation, this complete opposite to where you started. And then the end, the last syllable, and you don’t even have the chance to be harsh about it, to be crass, to be curt. Because the ‘sis’ needs you to take your time, making sure you end the word almost on a smile.” Eddie finishes his rambles and looks almost embarrassed about it, but Steve can only stare at him and find the most beautiful, most wonderful, most intelligent looking back at him because Eddie doesn’t quite dare to look at anyone else.
Steve moves to him, right into his personal space, and kisses him. It almost feels like catharsis, the word still hot on Eddie’s lips.
“Told you it was a great word,” Will says and they all laugh, even when Eddie and Steve are breathless from just about everything.
It’s that night that Eddie finds out that they all know, that they’re all in on their little word treasure hunt.
He looks at Steve when everyone is gone, El leaving them with effervescent, and thinks, I want to spend the rest of my days with you, Stevie.
Steve drops the spoon he’s been holding, half-empty tub of ice cream on the counter abandoned as he stares at Eddie.
They’re both staring, because Eddie is realising what he’s just said out loud, and Steve just busy processing.
“Forever,” he says after a moment, sounding dazed, feeling dazed, dizzy, floating, as he walks towards Eddie. “It’s a pretty big word, hm?” His hand finds Eddie’s cheek, caressing, mapping, promising.
“Feels just big enough, honestly,” Eddie says before catching Steve’s lips in a kiss.
They’ll talk about this. Of course they will. But not now. Now, they just create their own little forever. Just the two of them and the love they share.

written for @bethespark who wanted to see Eddie with echolalia, but then this ran away from me. well. you're not surprised.
