I like the fics in which Steve gets handsy and cuddly when he gets high. However, I like the idea that he's one of those guys who gets very tactile sensitive with pot and all of that is not just emotional seeking but tactile sensory seeking.

Steve and Eddie get high to relax and Eddie picks up on it without realizing it. Eddie is a handsy guy.

It starts small. Getting rowdy watching TV has Steve's leg up on Eddie's lap and his hand just rest there, thumb moving back and forth just a bit. An arm over the shoulder plays with Steve's hair. It's all so slow building and platonic that they both just have reached puppy pile level and even when they aren't high they are always touching, albeit not as much.

Until one day Steve is on a date that starts getting physical and it feels off. He finds himself wishing she'd touch him like Eddie does, the way that makes him relax. The date ends early, Steve is up all night thinking about it, then talking about it with Robin.

Finally he goes to see Eddie, and puts on 'the moves'TM.

"Stevie, are you putting the moves on me?" Eddie laughs, not really believing what's happening.

"Yeah, is it working?"

"I..."

Steve touches Eddies face softly.

"Yeah, yeah I think you're doing good... with ah that, this, um. Yes."

Eddie is flustered but smiles. Steve smiles.

"Good" Steve says and kisses Eddie.

The next time they get high they make out and figure out Steve gets extra tactile sensitive in other fun ways.

FIC HIGHLIGHT ALERT!!

today i'm highlighting "an oldie but a goodie!"

picture this. last year, i flew out of the country for the first time. i travel for over 15 hours to scotland. it's beautiful but what the hell is time anymore? i am anxiously jetlagged in a dark room, a comfy bed, my friend sleeping soundly beside me -- wishing i could be her. i find solace through tumblr & find dio and their ongoing work. eddie is engaged. engaged to chrissy. not steve. steve is heartbroken. in the two am darkness, in one of the most beautiful places i've ever been, i cry silently. the palpable, life shattering, misunderstanding, angst of this fic left me RAW. steve doesn't know what to do because the love of his life, will never be his. but, when eddie confronts steve everything comes to the surface. i was still in scotland when the fic was completed, and after every amazing day i would quietly read how those boys would end up. happy. i hope…that's all i can really ask for.

tldr: through anxiety, a piece of writing written so beautifully and delicately was able to comfort me no matter the theme. thanks dio! an instant classic <3

people always talk about leaving comments on ao3 like it's a nice thing to do, or the best way to encourage writers to keep writing, or overall like it's how you Do Your Part in fandom

and yeah, all those things are true, but having spent the past few months leaving enthusiastic comments on as many things as i can, i have a different perspective

you should leave comments on fics because it's fun

taking the time to stop and focus on what i like about a story has made me way more aware of what's going on in stories and what i like about them. there's bit more actual comprehension and appreciation and not just beaming content into my eyes to fill time

i like noticing cool little things in fics, or riffing on funny events. i've never been very good at speculating or picking apart characters, but sometimes something clicks and it rocks.

and of course it's pretty nice when you get a response and it's clear you've made another person happy

so yeah, you should leave comments for your own sake, too. it makes reading better!

oooh interesting question!!! i think i’ll go with a solid 5, but not 5 as in “im indifferent to editing”, but 5 as in “editing is my mortal enemy, but it is a necessary evil that i know to employ at varying stages”.

like, tiny things i write in the tumblr app do not get edited, they barely even get a read-through (and it shows 💀). longer fics or those that are for an event of anything, they get a thorough read through and a willing hand to make the changes and add the details. but still it’s dragging and tedious and tiring. still, entirely necessary.

but for big-ass chaptered fics??? honey, editing adds at LEAST one thousand words every time — and editing looks like me grabbing a new, empty document and re-writing that whole entire thing. 6.7k words becoming 9k bc this bitchboy doesn’t just edit, he re-writes, and it’s a Problem!!!

so how do i feel about editing?? editing killed my family, and my obsession with revenge drove me to a strange antagonistic co-dependence where i will avoid it like the pest but still i’d sooner cut off my own arm before posting Something That Matters without a proper edit.

do i enjoy it? no. 5/10.

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

as a tiny kid i used to write a lot of original stuff but inspired heavily by whatever i‘d just read or watched. fannish explorations of characters and re-writes of canon started in primary school when i used to role play some imaginary harry potter scenes (i know :///) on the school yard — like same scene every time, and we were sooo many characters jumping around the scene to sell it :D once we got outing 4th grade i started writing the things instead of playing them out with my friend. (first real fic writing fandom was hobbit/lord of the rings, i think.)

and now here i am 🥰

🎲 ⇢ what stops you from writing more in your free time? 

oh there’s a series of things that stop me. it needs to be said that the way i write is not at all sustainable, so reason number one would be a need to re-charge. there’s a certain emotional heaviness sometimes that i need to genuinely recover from.

another reason is simply a lack of inspiration or motivation, or a lack of patience for a certain story/wip/idea. or an unwillingness for that amount of emotional vulnerability, or even a momentary inability for it.

see, writing takes so much energy for me, and i know yall come in claiming “dio you’re so talented” and i kiss yall on the nose. but it’s not talent, it’s skill and it’s proficiency and it’s really hard work, and if i want to keep a certain quality, i must allow myself the luxury of taking my time between one work and the next.

and unfortunately i’m also really fucking mentally ill and when you’re busy keeping yourself alive against your will, calling it “free time” is a bit of a stretch more often than any of us are willing to admit
