What I’m missing with the Disney Dreamlight Valley fandom are the comics that everyone started drawing with their character interacting with the Disney Characters.  Remember when ACNH came out and there were just TONS of comics of everyone’s character interacting with the villagers or accidentally hitting the Resident Service tent with their net or when the update with Redd came and everyone was drawing comics of Redd being an absolute menace to Tom Nook. Those were what drew me into ACNH. I miss those comics and they would be absolutely delightful with Disney DreamLight Valley. Imaging comics of Wall-E showing the character what they found while gardening. Scrooge McDuck being absolutely certain that there is a rivalry between him and Goofy while Goofy just doesn’t notice. Your character just setting Mickey and Minnie or Kristoff and Anna up on dates after certain plot points and watching from the bushes like “Oh yeah, its all coming together”.  I might just get the game and ya’ll might just have to deal with my art that looks lt was drawn by a two year old if it means we get some fanart of this game.

So anyway, speaking of Dreamlight Valley, last night i had a dream about it except it was Dreamworks instead of Disney and here's what I remember about that fucking monstrosity:
Shrek is the first villager you unlock naturally, and every time you hang out with him, that shitty midi version of All Star plays in the background
Donkey is there too and he offers to make you waffles (he never does)
Fiona was also there. That is all I remember about Fiona
Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws were villagers but their house was almost always inaccessible, mostly because i presume there were in there having crazy cat sex at all times
Will Smith Fish from Shark Tale moved in but immediately died because he just appeared in the plaza and had no water so he flopped around until he died thank god
The two dudes from El Dorado were there and were roommates and I thought that was pretty gay but where the fuck was Chel
Every Hour on the Hour King Julian from Madagascar showed up in the plaza and hosted a Mandatory Dance Party
Barry B Benson from Bee Movie was there but every time you spoke to him he would quote the Bee Movie Script in its entirety before getting to any actual quest dialogue
Instead of Remy's restaurant, Po from Kung Fu Panda hosted a dojo where he teaches you to beat the fuck out of any villagers you don't like
Hiccup and Astrid were there and were roommates (Good for them, they're canonically married after all) and so was Toothless but he was Concerningly Off Model I was scared
Megamind was there. That is all I remember about Megamind.
The Penguins of Madagascar weren't technically villagers but they kept showing up all over the valley to spy on me
Boss Baby showed up at one point and I kicked his ass thanks to the kung fu Po taught me
The game ended when Moses from Prince of Egypt showed up and called upon God to smite the village and my game cartrige caught fire irl

Hey Disney Dreamlight Players, here is a warning for those working on Minnie’s Remembering Old Times quest.
For the quest, Minnie wants to you create a clocktower that used to be in the village but the crafting materials required is ridiculous
100 hardwood
30 iron ingots
100 stone
200 CLAY!!!!!!
And just when you think you can go and craft the item right away....
DON’T!!!!!!
For some reason unlike other quests in the came where you can go straight to making something for a character after getting everything, this one requires you to speak to Minnie first!
In my excitement I didn’t notice this step and made the clocktower and now the game won’t recognize the one I already made!!!! And there is currently no way to revert to previous saves to fix this.
I’m going to cry in the corner now over my hours of wasted time digging for clay. I sent a report to gameloft pointing out how the pacing of this quest can seriously trip up players but I doubt they will do anything and say it’s on my for not reading the tiny font in the upper left hand corner

Nightmare Before Christmas in Dreamlight Valley
Hi guys. For a few weeks now, I’ve been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley on my Switch and it’s getting really good, especially with the recent update. I kind of spoiled myself with the twist in the story and I have so many ideas for my player character that I’ll do in separate posts. For this one, I would like to discuss a what-if scenario and write fanfiction in which characters that played a big part in my growing up were in the game. One movie, in particular, is Nightmare Before Christmas.
Now this idea is not totally universal and very self-indulgent. I remember watching Nightmare Before Christmas when I was between 5 and 7. I remember being awed by the movie and very scared of the Oogie Boogie scenes. It wasn’t until my teenage years that I fully embraced it and it became my permanent hyperfixation. This post would be how I would write it in my fanfiction, but if you’d like to add or make/change something for your own, be free.
I would include: Jack, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Ideas and Spoilers Under The Cut:
Jack and Sally
I still have to figure things out for them but at the top of my head, I feel like they went back to Halloween Town. Perhaps Jack wanted to help by going back to the town and coming up with new ideas and tools to combat the Forgetting. Sally followed him to help/keep an eye out for him. Due to the Forgetting, Jack has some sort of problem and it’s up to the Player and Sally to help him. From opening the Nightmare Before Christmas realm, you’d recruit Sally first and then Jack. Sally could have her own store selling fabrics and unique clothes. Both Jack and Sally live in a recreation of Jack’s house.
Zero
Like with Pua, Zero can be an animal companion you unlock once Jack becomes a villager and asks you to help him find Zero. Don’t know how I would make it different from the Moana-Pua quest, but that’s what comes to mind.
Oogie Boogie
Here’s where the self-indulgent stuff comes in. A little short backstory: not only did I get nightmares about Oogie as a child, but Oogie has played a major role in my life both on the positive and negative side. He’s somewhat of a comfort character and through him and other media, has helped me grow as a person. Whenever I added new characters or left aside past ones, Oogie has been with me from 16 years old until now. Prior to understanding the story, I wanted to write a fic in response to what happens during the Glade of Trust arc. In it, my Player, Jess, has a hard time processing the truth and what happened during the night. She tries to distract herself by spending the day with Mirabel, but the two get stuck in a new cave in the process. Jess panics, lets out her feelings about her recent experience, and, in a state of fear and regret, becomes Oogie Boogie. At first, it was supposed to just be a symbol of a person becoming a monster to handle the fear. But after learning about the Forgotten, I decided to add to it.
As a child, the player, although frightened by Oogie Boogie, tended to sometimes hang out with him when they get scared. Hey, if you can befriend Ursula, Mother Gothel, and Scar, you could befriend the Boogeyman. Anyway, when the Forgetting happens and the Player split, Oogie split in two as well due to dark magic and the Player’s magic/emotions. While the Player has regular Oogie, the Forgotten has Shadow Oogie with green eyes. After the Glade of Trust arc, Oogie is around not as a villager but as a part of the Player. Whenever the Player has a negative emotion or feels fear, they’d transform into Oogie. It’s still them, but sometimes a little moody or sarcastic. Transforming into Oogie would be necessary for side quests that will help figure out the mystery with the Forgotten. It turns out that since Oogie is split, he is not whole and thus, has no memories. Interacting with characters would reveal snipped memories of the Forgotten, most notably: Mother Gothel, Scar, and Olaf. As of this moment, I just finished saving Frozen Heights. As I find out more about the Forgotten, the list would increase. Likewise, the Forgotten can change into Shadow Oogie when extremely upset as well, but can freely do so within the Dark Castle. Once Act 1 of the Main Story is finished and the Forgotten wants to make amends with the Player and the Village, Oogie becomes whole again and he can be his own person, becoming a villager.
Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Like Jack and Sally, I still do not know what to do with these three, but at the top of my head, here’s what I came up with: imagine you’re the trick-or-treaters in a valley where you are free to express yourself and have a little fun/mischief. Suddenly, these cool thorns appear and you don’t know why everyone’s freaking out. Some people are forgetting, Jack and Sally went back to Halloween Town, and your boss suddenly disappears. You go to the Ruler demanding answers and lo and behold, they look completely different and for some strange reason, you’re compelled to hang out with them. So you do just that, following the Ruler’s orders and whatnot when suddenly you realize that something dark and magical occurred in that your boss is somehow merged with the Ruler. You and the Ruler have a fight which results in the Ruler separating you three into three different portals having no memories of the valley but vague memories of the group.
So yeah, somewhat of a Minnie or Donald situation going on.
Let me know what you think and what you’d like to add. Fics are a work in progress.

Attitude Adjustment
A Disney Dreamlight Valley Fic! This may or may not be an indicator of how I felt about Prince Eric 😅 funnily enough I had this idea, and writing it down made me start to like him a bit more.
Ariel asked if you would spend more time with Eric to help him regain his memories.  However, you seem to have been reluctant and are giving him the cold shoulder.  When he decides enough is enough, chaos ensues.
No warnings except for tickles, obviously.  And minor spoilers if you’re playing and haven’t found Eric yet. Scroll if not your cuppa tea.
Word count: 2,349
“Let’s go, Prince Charming,” you called behind you teasingly, and maybe somewhat obnoxiously.  You two were on your way to see Donald, hoping to get some of his feathers for a Donald Duck mask.  Olaf was producing a play, and since Donald didn’t want to play himself, Olaf specifically requested the mask be made using some of his feathers.  For authenticity’s sake.
Prince Eric rolled his eyes, none too fond of the nickname you’ve bestowed upon him.  Not only because he wasn’t the Prince Charming, but also because he knew you knew this irritated him.
“Y/N, you know how I feel about being called that,” Eric started, “Why did you invite me to hang out if you were going to call me names all day?”
It was true, you had invited him out: but not entirely because you wanted to.  Ariel thought that he would regain his memories faster if he accompanied you on errands around the village, and it was working, so that in itself was worth the trouble.  However, you have grown up a bit since returning to the village, and in that time had started questioning some of the parts of these characters’ stories.
Like nearly marrying a sea witch only because she “sounded familiar.” Seriously, how could he not have recognized Ariel from the start, if he liked her so much? You could have had a conversation with him about this and get his take, but your crammed schedule and assumption had gotten the better of you.
“You and Donald are good friends, I feel like he’s more likely to help if you’re there.  Plus, Ariel wanted us to spend time together,” you explained, as you both collected fruits and herbs on your way to Dazzle Beach.
“I still don’t remember everything, but I thought we used to hang out for more reasons than that.” You shrugged, and you both arrived at Donald’s door.
“Didn’t we sail together? Looking for artifacts and treasure?” Eric asked while you two waited for Donald to answer his door.
“Wait, no we didn’t, because Merlin said you were too young to be out far.  But we pretended to, on the shores! I remember that!” Now that he said it, you did too, and before you could respond a startled Donald swung his front door open, nearly smacking you both with it.
“WAAHHH! Oh, Y/N, Eric, thank goodness! This just appeared inside!” You’ve come to recognize the faint glow that memories produced, and sure enough a smaller you could be seen on a makeshift raft along the shores of Dazzle Beach, with Eric and Donald both playing along.  You paused an extra beat before conjuring your magic photo album, where you stored the gathered memories, and placed the newest addition in an empty slot.
“Thanks, Donald, for giving me that,” you said, adding no additional comments to the memory, or Prince Eric’s gaze at you.
“Of course, Y/N!  Did you guys need something?”
“Yes, actually, we came to ask for a favor,” Eric started.  “We would like a few of your feathers for a mask.  Anna is playing you in Olaf’s play, and they would like her costume to be as authentic as possible.”
“WHAT?!” Donald exclaimed, covering his belly and tailfeathers the best he could.
“YOU CAN’T TAKE MY FEATHERS!”
“Calm down Donald, we don’t want any attached ones,” you assured, “just any that may have fallen off? Please? You don’t need them, do you?”  He pondered for a moment, realizing he would be throwing them away anyway.
“Oh, all right, come in,” he sighed, finally inviting them in.
“I’m sure the others would appreciate these for crafts or other costumes and stuff too, especially Olaf,” you remarked as Donald gathered his shed feathers in a small bag.
“Really?”
“One duck’s trash is another snowman’s treasure, or something like that,” you said with a smirk.  Donald chuckled at you.
“Maybe.  I’ll see if anyone needs them before I throw them away next time.”
“I appreciate that Donald, thanks.”  As you made your way out, Donald stopped Eric, who had been mostly quiet during the visit.
“Hey, Prince Eric, are you all right?”  The sailor took a breath.
“I’m okay.  I’m just wondering why Y/N is giving me such a cold shoulder.  I mean, they asked me to spend time with them, only to find out it’s because Ariel asked them to.  We used to have fun together, you saw the memory.” Donald offered a sympathetic look toward his sailing friend.
“Did you ask them?”
“They didn’t open up about it.  I don’t know how to apologize if I don’t know what I did. If I even did anything.  Ugh, this forgetting…”
“Say that, Y/N will understand.  Maybe they don’t realize they’re being unfair.” Eric thought for a moment and nodded slowly.
“Yeah, I’ll talk to them again. Thanks, Donald, for the advice.  Let’s take the boat out sometime soon and catch up!”
“Definitely!”
When Eric stepped outside Donald’s house, you were no where to be seen.  He sighed again, looking for any indication as to where you might be. You hadn’t wondered far though, as he found you working on the mask under a palm tree just outside of the mystic cave.  He walked over and sat across from you, silently watching you work on the mask for a few moments.
“Hey… um… do you need any help?”
“No, I think I can manage from here,” you said curtly, but quickly added, “I appreciate you coming to Donald’s with me.” Another couple of silent moments pass.
“So… can we talk?”
“About what?” Eric noted you never took your eyes off the task at your hand.
“Well… I feel like I’m the only villager here you’re short with. And I get taunted often, especially with the nickname.” You scoffed.
“You should talk to Gothel, she and I don’t get along very well, either.  Maybe you two can start a club.”
“See, that’s what I’m talking about,” Eric stated, exasperated. His sudden change in tone made you finally look up at him, and you saw his sincerity.
“You and Mother Gothel never got along. We did.  You saw the memory!” he continued, “What changed?” You sighed, gathered the mask, and stood quickly.
“I need to take this to Anna, she needs it.  This will have to wait,” you said, and nearly as soon as you turned around Eric clasped an arm over your chest, pinning you to his own.
“Hey! What do you think you’re doing?”
“I need you to talk to me, Y/N.  You aren’t leaving me with too many options.”
“So you’re holding me hostage?”
“Well, no-”
“What’s you’re plan, here?” you antagonized.  Eric sighed but kept his hold.
“It’s just… you aren’t giving me a chance.  If I did something, I might not remember what it was, you have to tell me.  I can’t fix something I don’t know is wrong.”  It was your turn to sigh, knowing you’ve let your own judgements cloud your actions.  You were trying to be a better Ruler, and this was not the way to do it.
“No, you’re right. I’m sorry.  I haven’t been a fair Ruler or friend to you.”
“Water under the bridge, we all make mistakes,” he replied, “as long as you can tell me what started all this.”
“Don’t worry about it, really. It’s for me to fix, now.”
“You can still tell me, let me help you…” Eric prompted.  His eyes settled on the mask in your hand and developed a mischievous idea. “...or face the consequences.”
“HA!” you challenged, “Consequences? Like what, charming?”
“You asked for it!” Eric knew this time, the name was a friendlier jab, but nonetheless he swiftly plucked a feather from the mask in your hand and drew it in a sawing motion along the shell of your ear. You were caught so off guard, you hadn’t even been given the chance to try to contain the bubbling cackles spilling out. Reflexively your shoulders scrunched up, and you tried and failed to break Eric’s hold.
“Erhehehic! Cuhuhut it ohohout!” you cried.  Just a simple little flick of a feather against your ear sent such ticklish vibrations through your body, including your legs that wanted to kick out but were doing their best to support you still.
“Oh, so you do know my actual name!” Eric teased, releasing his grip from you only to bring his spare hand up in an attempt to worm his fingers toward your neck.  Fortunately, your unconscious took over and bolted upon the sudden release.  Unfortunately, Eric was quick in grabbing you back around the waist.  You both fumbled, and fell unharmed on the patches of grass under you.  Eric seized the opportunity to pin you face down before you had recovered.  He rested his fingers menacingly on your hip bones.
“Feel like sharing where your attitude towards me is coming from yet?”
“I thought you were a sailor,” you started.  Eric sensed some antagonizing coming and curled his fingers as to warn you.  You, however, just couldn’t help yourself, despite the unbearable spidering sensation at your hips.  “Intehehrigation and tohohorture is pirate behavior.”
“Oh, you think I’m a pirate now?” Without warning, his hands shot up to your open underarms, and the squeal you elicited could probably have been heard back in the meadow.
“THAHAHAT WAHAHASN’T FAAAHAHAHAIR!” you cried through booming laughter, as one hand vibrated into the hollow part of your underarm while the other traced ever-so lightly up and down, sometimes wandering to your upper ribs.
“I’m a pirate now, according to you,” Eric taunted. “They aren’t fair.” As if to emphasize the point, Eric brought back the nearly forgotten feather and resumed teasing in and around your ear.  Your legs kicked out behind you and your cackles rose a pitch.
“Wait, sometimes, I was a pirate! When we had our adventures on the shoreline!” he remembered.  “You were too sometimes, and sometimes it was Donald.  Either way, we had a good time!”
He didn’t let up once during his recollection, and in fact in his excitement over a new memory he let the feather trace down to your neck and collarbone while his other hand ventured down to pinch and poke in between your ribs.  You flailed, as if your body didn’t know which way to react, and while Eric held strong straddling your back, your laughter began to grow silent.
“EHEHERIC!”
“You ready to talk now?”
“YEHEHES! I CAHAHAN’T-”
“Eric?” a voice came from behind the two of you, though it almost didn’t come through your ticklish pleas and Eric’s teasing. He turned and leapt up off of you, offering his hand. You rolled over and glared at him, but smirked, and took his help.  He smiled, this time without the mischief, hoping he was making some kind of progress.
The voice in question came from Ariel.  You had no idea how long she’d been there, but she looked to your flushed face and disheveled clothes and grinned knowingly, causing your blush to deepen. Eric strode to her, embracing her and placing a quick kiss on her cheek.
“I take it things are going well?” she asked.  Eric turned to you.
“Are they?” you took a deep breath, both because your lungs needed it and to gain some form of composure.
“Eric, you’ve been getting my cold shoulder because I was unsure if you truly had Ariel’s best intentions in mind.” Gosh, you sounded like a parent. “We all know how your story played out, and it’s my duty to protect the interests of everyone here.  Ariel sacrificed a lot for you, leaving the sea. Then more-so, bringing you back to the Valley. I can only hope you prove worth it for her.”
“... Is that what this has been about?” Eric asked, more shocked than anything else. “Y/N, I’ve had some time to reflect, especially when I was one of Ursula's trophies.  I understand how it looks, and you’re right,” he said, turning back to Ariel, “she has sacrificed a lot for me.  It’s one of the many reasons I love her.  And it’s one of the reasons I made that deal with Ursula when the Forgetting set in. I might not have swapped worlds like she did, but I would if it made her happy.  I’d do anything for her.”
Ariel embraced Eric once he was finished, clearly touched by his words.  As were you.  You suddenly felt guilty for treating him so harshly, and when their embrace parted, you extended a hand toward him.
“I’m sorry, Eric.  We should have had this conversation sooner.”  He ignored your hand and instead hugged you as well.
“Like I said, you tell me what’s wrong, and it’s water under the bridge.  Besides,” he continued, releasing you, “we did recover memories from the whole ordeal, so it wasn’t all for naught.” He pulled out a memory from his pocket.
“This cropped up earlier, but you were a little distracted,” he said slyly, handing it to you and delivering a playful poke to your belly.
“Wahatach it,” you warned, conjuring the photo album of memories again.  You placed it in an empty slot, and smiled at the photo.  A smaller you and Eric had wooden swords.  You appeared to be trying to save Ariel, playing a damsel in distress, though she looked far more amused than distressed, from a pirate hat and eye patch wearing Eric.
“This is very sweet,” you smiled, then turned disappointed.  “Ugh, this forgetting…”
“Don’t worry, Y/N,” Ariel chimed in, placing a hand on your shoulder.  “You’re doing everything you can.  And it’s working! Memories are coming back, more and more villagers are finding their way back here, its all a miracle.”
“Thank you, Ariel, but-”
“No buts, she’s right,” Eric stated.  “And we’ll be behind you every step of the way.”  You looked to them and smiled.
“Will you be wearing the pirate hat while you help?” Eric rolled his eyes and laughed.
“If that’s what it takes.”

Royally Peeved Right Now
Disney Dreamlight Valley wants me to pay for features that used to be base game!
So little old me cannot afford the Eternity Isle expansion right now. Was going to wait optimistically for a Christmas sale. I went in game today to experience the "free" update that included Jack Skellington. As DDV players are aware you need to get a character to level 2 before they can join you around the village to raise their level as you play. Leveling must initially be done with daily discussions and gifts. Specifically you get three gift options a day.
Today Jack's preferred gifts were Yellow Daisy, Yulelog and "prisma shrimp". Hmm I go, what is this prisma shrimp? Perhaps Remy has decided to cook some shrimp with fruit. Google tells me otherwise. One of my three options to raise his character level is AN ETERNITY ISLE EXCLUSIVE! Yep, prisma shrimp are only found on eternity isle.
So basically I've gone from being able to have a full base game, which I actually paid for before last years launch, to one where a key feature (valley gift giving) is going to be scaled back because I cannot afford the expansion. This may not seem big, but to me it feels pretty big. What happens when a star path requires me to give gifts to characters and I cannot because they roll favourite gifts from an expansion the game knows full well I do not own.
Am I overreacting?

Disney Dreamlight Valley - Thoughts
It's like staring into a portal into an alternate dimension where Disney and fucking Gameloft are actually design-conscious devs in their own right, and will somehow package the Most Corporate Shit Ever with the single strongest distillation of the Life Sim formula I've seen yet.
I'm shocked, seriously. The premium elements are strictly cosmetic, the required commitment is minimal and none of the Valley's inhabitants adhere to a schedule that hampers your progression. Goofy's downed something like sixteen Adderall and cannot stop pacing up and down the central plaza, when he isn't stuck in a stumbling loop while fishing in one of the meadow's three lakes. The last I spoke with him, his shop was open and fully available by 3 AM.
Everything's accessible. Nothing's gated, except what should be gated in the context of a Life Sim, to induce a sense of progression. You've unlocked pathing tiles for the Village? You're free to cover the entire plateau in cobblestones, if that's what you want.
What the actual fuck. Coming out of Gameloft, devs who consistently paywall parts of their offered content, this feels like a Twilight Zone episode in its most positive form.
I mean - Yes, the quest-givers don't shut up and pester you for a constant downpour of menial shit that supposedly ties into reviving the Valley, but that's only if you do decide to interact with them. If you don't, you're free to spend entire days tweaking the Village's layout.
So, how different is it from Animal Crossing, exactly? Well, first of all, the whole damn thing has a Copyrighted symbol in full-view. If you're one of the staunch anti-Disney posters on here, this is a definitive mark of avoidance for you. Past that, it's basically a name-swapping affair: Tom Nook is split up between Scrooge McDuck (for personal housing needs) and Goofy (for exterior farming resources). Isabelle is more or less handled by The Sword in the Stone's Merlin, and Mickey eventually serves as your Blathers analogue. The one outlying mechanic is an Energy system, which asks you to either keep some food on you at all times to keep topping off, or that simply suggest you return home for a few seconds. Considering how most of the game will take place within walking distance from your personal plot of land, this is an extremely generous implementation of that mechanic.
If I had to dock Dreamlight any points, I'd mention the lack of obviousness of certain quests. I've reached one of the themed Realms in my current save; Realms being tiny instances themed around characters that aren't part of the House of Mouse's main stable. Take, for instance, WALL-E, from the movie of the same name. I've ended in his tiny little pocket world, and was asked to find something to repair one of his treads. I went looking and only found scrap that the game did define as quest items, but never specified what I should do with.
I'd assume this is just a matter of taking five to go check out a walkthrough online, but I really shouldn't have to do this. Even Crossing's most annoying event, like Gulliver's visits, typically include clear cues in the character's dialogue. WALL-E only spews "Directive?" at the player and disengages. Your 'toon somehow immediately grasps what's going on and realizes the robot needs repairs, but the process involved is never made clear. There's a crafting bench nearby, but no amount of fishing around got me close to anything resembling gear or tread blueprints.
Past that, color me pleasantly surprised. The farming mechanic is even more forgiving than Crossing's, the game's client-side currency is generously doled out, and the server-side token is actually not accessible in a Cash Shop!
At this point, it's sort of hard to figure out what the game is doing online. Apart from analytics, the occasional ad served in the Store page - which you can entirely miss - and the gatekeeping of Dreamlight (the currency, not the game itself) to structure player progression and avoid abuse, it behaves entirely like your average PC offering, complete with a flawless response rate on the Steam Deck and a gaggle of easy exploits accessible with a trainer. Can't pay back Scrooge's loan fast enough for your liking? Just pick a trainer producer of your choosing or hex-edit yourself a berjillion coins, and move on right ahead! No online-only bullshit as you would've expected from Disney and Gameloft!
It's a very pleasant surprise, overall. Skip it if you're allergic to remixes of When you Wish upon a Star or if Disney's older stable feels so saccharine to you that you'd rather jam sporks in your eyeballs - but it's actually a very competent Life Sim that's surprisingly lenient and pleasant. It's the most pro-consumer flex I've seen the Mouse pull off in a long time, and a great alternative if you're looking for something to fill in that Tom Nook-shaped divot in your heart, in the absence of a Nintendo Switch or a copy of New Horizons.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: Live Update!
So I was debating whether or not to make this it's own post or combine it and this is too good to sit on, so it is solo and wonderful! That was one of the best lives I have ever seen in a long ass time.
DDLV First Live: So, on 10/27 the developers posted something that said: December 5th the game leaves early access, game will remain pay to play, A Rift In Time paid expansion pass is coming, updates to come, and multiplayer features. The live event explaining more is on 11/1.
Tumblr media
Let's do a quick recap:

Tumblr media
2023 (What's left of it anyway)
Update #6: Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas and Valley Verse with your friends (aka their multiplayer). I imagine Jack will be a door, even if we don't have Sally yet-maybe we get her eventually? Him coming in for christmas is perfect timing based on his movie. The multiplayer seems like its going to be very Animal Crossing like. December 5,2023 is when this is available.
Paid Expansion #1: Explore Eternity Isle, another valley like area, with 3 new biomes and 3 new characters: Gaston, Rapunzel, and Eve. New biomes means more storage needs. December 5,2023 is when this is available for $30.
2024
Update #7: We have Mike Wazowski coming from Monsters Inc! Another door in your castle, save up your dreamlight. I think this is available in the Winter 2023/Spring 2024 time.
Update #8: A vibrant villager comes in, between the image and the reference, I think we get Daisy Duck-Donald's better half! I don't know where I am going to put her, or if she just stays with donald? This comes Early Spring 2024.
Paid Expansion #2: In one of our new biomes we expand our story and get a lucky character? IS IT OSWALD THE LUCKY RABBIT? AAAAAH. This is available Spring 2024.
Update #9: There is a new door, a dynasty reference? I am guessing it is Mulan. I am kind of excited for more princesses in the group. This is available late spring 2024.
Update #10: Tia from The Princess and The Frog is coming! More cooking, and more girl power. I wonder if this is the start of a trend and I should have an area just for power women? This is available summer 2024.
Paid Expansion #3: We finish the story in our new area and right all the wrongs! I wonder if Jafar is our friend at this point? This is available Summer 2024.
Well, I did not think I missed that many nuggets of information. But I found them all for you, get ready to get excited people! What bit are you most excited for? Excuse me, my valley is not ready for all you wonderful people yet.

Vanellope Von Schweetz: A Character Rant
[Note: This rant will focus on the presence of Vanellope in Disney Dreamlight Valley, the good and the bad. I make these criticisms in the most respectful way possible, so please keep an open mind. And if you disagree with some of my opinions, I'd love to hear why! I can't shut up about this game lol.]
Wreck It Ralph characters have been anticipated since the furniture and clothing for the series showed up in Dreamlight Valley. But upon Vanellope's entrance, I can't help but feel offset by what feels like a change in personality for her.
Among film critics, it was pretty blatant that Ralph Wrecks the Internet was a synonymously frustrating sequel to the first of the Wreck it Ralph films. The blatant advertising and cash-grabbed inserts had made the characters severely lose their charm. Personally when I think about Vanellope and Ralph, I'm reminded of the amount of heart and creativity written in their initial premiere. The arcade-world and how it was presented, the clash of video game characters, the sympathy it made us feel for antagonists- it was a great movie with well written characters and the first Disney twist-villain I had ever witnessed as a child. All around- great!
My problem with using the sequel-written version of Vanellope is that she no longer comes off as a spunky kid with his ambitions and a mischievous demeanor- she feels like a character that thinks she's too good to be in Dreamlight Valley. Now, let me explain.
[I will use the disclaimer that I have not been on many quests or had many conversations with her. Simply because I don't feel motivated to.]
Sequel-vanellope has already spent time in Slaughter Race, a game she fought hard to get programmed into and play freely, leaving Sugar Rush behind. This new game she's in has very clearly provided everything she'd want. So why is she here?
To help promote the new photo-sharing system. Now I won't offend the writers by saying that was a bad idea, because I actually like it. But rather than having Vanellope STAY,
I think Ralph deserves a chance. Especially after coping with his best friend having moved on. I think it would have been far better to have Ralph stay in Dreamlight Valley to expand his horizons and to really drive home what makes the Valley so special. There's so much potential!! I could list what types of friendships and rivalries I think he would have around the village but I'd be getting off track.
TLDR: It's a little out of character for Vanellope to move from Slaughter Race to Dreamlight Valley. Ralph should have taken her place to make new friends and we would help him cope with her having moved from the arcade

I FINALLY GOT TO WATCH THE ONCE UPON A STUDIO SHORT
I GOT SO MANY ROCKY Ws AND I'M LETTING MY INNER DISNEY ADULT TAKE OVER MY BODY--I DO NOT CARE--I'M FUCKIN' HAPPY DUDE
I think the one inclusion that surprised me the most was the main cast of Dinosaurs in the group picture. I LOVED that film growing up so it's crazy to see it again after YEARS of nothing about it.
Also, nothing will describe how happy I felt hearing Robin William as Genie again. It was like-the warmest line delivery for a character I've heard in my life and I know it's because it's literally Robin Williams voicing Genie. It really reminds you of how magical his performance was for the character and what made Genie so iconic in the first place in a way no other sidekick will ever really reach.
And...I hate to say it but Olaf wasn't that bad in this short. He gets ONE stamp of approval from me for getting me to actually chuckle at him but that snow man is on thin ice.
My one wish in the end of all of this is that all these massive Disney crossovers (Wreck it Ralph 2, Dreamlight Valley, Speedstorm, THIS SHORT IN GENERAL) eventually result in some series with a House of Mouse type beat (like, they feature the building in the Toon Village raceway on Speedstorm so I know SOMEBODY at the company remembers it).
It was my favorite show to watch as a kid because it's such a wild premise to have a show that constantly features ALL your favorite characters every time it runs and it'd be a nice fit for this current age of reboots because Disney has expanded SO much.
Of course, this is just wishful thinking. Disney probably won't do any of that...but it'd be super baller if they did.

You know, I love simple games that you can pour a lot of time into making up your own little space like Animal Crossing, and Disney Dreamlight Valley. I consider those types of games to be my shit nowadays …but it gets lonely sometimes. I think the problem is that there’s a hole in my heart that only an extremely simple mid-to-late 2000’s style Multiplayer Online game like Club Penguin and Webkinz can fill.
You know the type where you have your own little space to call home that you can build up and decorate, where take care of your ‘pets’ or whatever… but if you were feeling social you could go into public zones/servers and meet other people who are online. Where you can chat with them, become friends and play some games together, invite them over to your house/village/island to hang out. Where there could be little events in the public spaces that encourage players to get together and complete goals, compare progress and earn collectable items or money to buy limited time things.
Those types of games made my childhood and early teen years so much better, but I haven’t heard much about any of them aside from them shutting down since the mid-2010’s. Are there any games like that around nowadays that are popular or is that style of online gaming simply dead?

My story idea for the rest of my Webcomic series.
Okay, so I thought over what will happen after the third page of the pilot comic of Adean the Dragon which I’ll end up naming it Adean the Dream Guardian.
I already wrote a first draft of my story for my original and also maybe fanmade comic Adean the Dream Guardian to start making my webcomic series from. I’ll post it on my secondary tumbler account where I post my webcomic series at as well as on my Deviantart account.
It’s kind of going be based after Dungeons and Dragons with the different races and monsters as well as be based after Animal Crossing which I never played very much of Animal Crossing because before when I played it I couldn’t understand the mechanics of playing the game but basically has the same concept as Disney Dreamlight Valley where you get to live in a town full of villagers or in this case in Disney Dreamlight Valley the Disney characters but it’s where you get to go on little quests for your neighbors, garden plants and crops, organize your town the way you want it, and go on adventures in the Valley.
I want my world that my webcomic is about be inspired after the story concept of both Disney Dreamlight Valley and Animal Crossing with maybe a bit of Dungeons and Dragons sprinkled in but in a more modern setting with the big city of Dreamtopia which is also a bit inspired after the Valley in Disney Dreamlight Valley and the islands in Animal Crossing but it has my own casts of characters and my own world mostly populated with many races mostly of characters and background characters I make myself but might also have canon characters in it (maybe).
Although The Land of Dragons and Dreamtopia are my own worlds with The Land of Dragons actually first thought up by my good friend @drake-the-highlander and the main city idea designed by him too so thanks to him I would have trouble building the world of Adean the Dream Guardian dragon from the ground up.
Originally the city of Dreamtopia was originally supposed to be called Heartfelt City but I actually think that Dreamtopia has a much better ring to it instead so it’s actually a utopia that looks like something out of a dream although it still has its issues at times.
But my story concept is pretty much inspired by Animal Crossing, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Dungeons and Dragons and the world traveling like in Kingdom Hearts or the Super Mario Bros franchise but especially with Kingdom Hearts with traveling to other worlds but without the whole Final Fantasy idea but more of an Animal Crossing and Disney Dreamlight Valley idea instead with hanging out with the citizens of the different areas and going on adventures while still going for the whole day to day life of the story of my webcomic series as well.
I hope to build on more to Adean’s world and work on the webcomic series of Adean the Dream Guardian with also adding a bit of a magic system to my world as well like even adding the Disney characters Merlin from The Sword in the Stone into my world as well being a big help to Adean like a wise mentor or something and Mickey Mouse being the mayor of the city of Dreamtopia with Adean helping out both Merlin and the mayor Mickey Mouse out as well and befriending them even helping out Scrooge Mc Duck help build his shops which my world is not the Dreamlight Valley but it has inspirations from Disney Dreamlight Valley while also having anthro animal characters like in Animal Crossing.
Although in the story Adean is a shapeshifting Dragon girl that changes into many different animals to help out with different tasks in different ways while protecting her world from real harm whenever she takes on different animal forms but mostly stays in her usual dragon form whenever she’s not in her normal human form.
She even has a close relationship with her big sister Kristy Micheals who can also Shapeshift into many different animals with her favorite animal form being a shark and a cat while Adean’s is a dragon and a wolf.
I’m real excited to eventually start working on the worldbuilding of this webcomic and all the characters both my own and canon characters that are from Disney, Dreamworks and some characters from Brand New Animal especially Michiru and Shirou.
I hope I can get in the habit of drawing more backgrounds for the worldbuilding of my webcomic even though I tend to draw more figures then I do actual backgrounds. I even need to practice drawing characters I don’t usually draw like Merlin and Ursula and so on.
Yes I’m inspired by the games Disney Dreamlight Valley mostly to come up with this story with a little bit of Animal Crossing sprinkled in but it’s because I’ve been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley that I want to make my own world that has Disney characters and also anthropomorphic animal characters like from Animal Crossing although besides just my ocs I might add Disney furriesa like Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Robin Hood and Little John in my story too even though they are not in the Disney game Disney Dreamlight Valley although since I tend to play it on the weekends I can be inspired by the characters that are in the game to put into my webcomic series as well as Disney characters that don’t even appear in the game like Elliott the Dragon and Nick Wilde and so on.
Yes I know that my webcomic series won’t be 100% original although I’ll try to build the world a bit where the world itself is original as well as some of my original characters in it too like Kento the Tanuki who helps Adean and Kristy out along the way the same with the Disney character Merlin who acts as a guide to Adean as well although Kento works as a tax citizen in Dreamtopia like the tanukis in Animal Crossing but also to help Adean and her sister settle into new world of Dreamtopia both the Land of Dragons and Downtown Dreamtopia while Merlin acts as a guide like he does in the actual gameplay of Disney Dreamlight Valley.
I hope to work on my webcomic pretty soon as I get more drawing practice in to make the webcomic series.
Although I also have other hobbies besides me just making art and stories like reading a good book or so, watching tv, playing video games and so on.
I don’t know when I’ll get started on the webcomic series but as soon as I continue to work on writing the story script and editing it on my Storyist app as well.
But I hope to work on it soon.

Hi everyone!! I know my blog suggests that it's empty, but now it's not. :) Anyways, like most people, I got inspired by the discarded ideas for Wish, but instead of doing a rewrite or redesign like most others, I created my own original story featuring bits of story from the Disney game "Dreamlight Valley" and one of these stories features Asha, Starboy (Aster), Rosas, and a vengeful Magnifico (you know, because I just had to be different). Now, the first story is "Guilt Trip", and it follows Dreamlight Valley ruler, Phoenix, as she grapples with a terrible truth concerning what had happened in her Valley before she'd returned to save it. She is suddenly thrust into the realm of Rosas, where she befriends the rulers, Asha and Aster. However, she unwittingly lets an old foe loose and is nearly drained of all her Dreamlight magic, and she is determined to set things right. Her new friends, however, forbid her to fight, because of her weakness, and Phoenix is then forced to face her greatest enemy...her personal guilt. The second story, "Root of Evil", follows this story. Weeks have passed since her time in Rosas, and all has been peaceful until a strange shadowman appears with the Night Thorns, seeking revenge against her. With the help of an unexpected new friend, Phoenix must find a way to defeat this new threat within her Valley while also trying to understand her new friend and ally who doesn't seem like any ordinary villager... Anyways, hope you enjoy these cover pages. I've seen people repost things, so if anyone who sees this chooses to repost this, they MUST credit me. Thanks for reading!
