Summary: Murasakibara didn’t believe in fate, but damn did he believe that all the stars just so happened to align so you could meet that fateful day.

The first time he saw you, Murasakibara couldn’t help but admire you in a feeble attempt to picture how silky your hair would feel against his fingers. How your plump lips would feel against his cheek, or even how your fingers would rest against his own. Even better yet how your small figure would feel pressed against his much larger frame.

But most of all he couldn’t help, but stare as he saw you. You were the literal embodiment of his ideal type. Tall, and very considerable in the chest department. You probably had a even bigger chest then the girls he saw in Aomine’s porn magazines, but who was he really to compare? Compare you please he wouldn’t dream of it. You were beautiful all on your own accord might he add. Truly.

Beautiful was the first word that crossed his head when he first saw you. He came across you at a local convenience store, buying thirteen popsicles one late afternoon. His favorite popsicles, and now there was no more. Murasakibara was beyond pissed, and so before you escaped he cornered you, his strong, tall and build frame trapped you against a brick wall outside the convince store. Trapped against the wall, by his large build. He could only sigh as he saw your deep (e/c) orbs stare up at him.

“Did you really have to buy all thirteen of the popsicles?”

“Uh—" He waited for your retort to mind his business, but it never came instead you shuffled into your bag and reached in and grabbed a popsicle handing it to him.

“Thirteen? Damn just my luck. Here’s an idea, why don’t you have it. Tall-kun?”

Just his luck? Your just like Midorima. Believing in all that astrology and superstitious crap. But he couldn’t help the pang in his chest as he saw you smile, before running off. And so just like that he was love sick, and was now a firm believer in fate.

“Plus twelve is my lucky number today.”

The second time Murasakibara saw you again, was at the same convenience store buying yet another type of snack. Potato chips, his favorite kind no less. But to make matters worse they were no more. He huffed, and puffed as he stormed to the cashier, and informed them of there being no more on the display. And just as the poor cashier was fumbling around you placed a second bag of chips on the counter and slide it to the cashier.

“Just these, please.” Murasakibara couldn’t help, but frown as you paid, and just as he was about to make his exit you stopped him by tugging on his sleeve, and placing the bag of chips in his hand.

“I heard, sharing is caring. Plus my horoscope said I should do one good deed a day, and also cut down on the gluten. So enjoy the chips, Tall-kun.”

And like always you gave him a sweet smile before taking your leave. He could only stare as you retreated back to your own activities. And just his luck he couldn’t help admire the way your hips moved side to side. Maybe he’ll get Aomine to help explain some things to him, he was also a guy after all.

The third time he met you were devouring a bunch of snacks on your own. Not like he was one to talk, but he was amazed at how your delicate body could digest such amounts of food. It was amazing really.

Your eyes were tear-stained and puffy. Maybe you failed a tested, or got yelled by your parents or maybe you got into a fight with your boyfriend— and that thought alone sent a twisting motion against his stomach that made him suck in a breath. But as he glanced at you he couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief as he heard you on the phone saying.

“Onii-Chan lost the tournament. No wonder. My horoscope said, sometime bad would happen today. Ugh! But don’t worry, he’ll be fine he’s the king of the court, after all. Oops did I say that out loud? My bad.”

He saw you wallow in despair, and he felt like he was just hit by a truck. He could only clinch his fists and then a second later he returned with a popsicle in hand. Without a word he placed the cold treat against your cheek before taking his leave. And with that, he smiled knowingly. Because you didn’t have a boyfriend as far as he knew of.

It was a distant voice, but he caught it.

“Thanks, Tall-kun!”

And so just before another official match he reached out, and met Midorima. To get a better understanding of you. To his shock, Midorima laughed and smirked.

“You finally realized the importance of horoscopes?”

“No. I just like this girl who happens to like stuff like that.”

“Like that?”

“Horoscopes, superstition even.” Midorima could only hum in response. A quizzical look cast across his features. And a growing curiosity loomed against the air.

“You must be joking? Right? You liking a girl, that’s news to me. I thought the only thing you actually liked were snacks.”

“Oh come on, I’m a man too you know.”

“Why don’t you ask Aomine or Kise. They might be better for these type of things.”

“Alright.” And with that he was off to find his old team mates. But just as he was set on his way, he saw his shoe untied. And just as he kneeled down, he felt a sudden whoosh pass by. With a serious look, he caught a glimpse of you jumping over him towards the gymnasium at a incredible pace. He couldn’t, help but be in complete awe of admiration as you turned back, and give a sincere smile as you yelled out a apology.

“Sorry, Tall-kun!”

He couldn’t help, but hear his teammates snicker and compliment your agility, but what irked him was how they complimented you on your appearance. Tall, pretty eyes, a big bust and the agility to move, the innuendo caught him off guard he won’t lie. As his teammates comments he couldn’t help, but let his anger get the better of him.

“Like hell you guys would ever have a chance. Maybe in a million years.” Atsushi Murasakibara was a man of many talents, but only thing he desperately wanted was your heart. He swore then, and there he would find some way to get it. And by no means would he ever let somebody else set there sights on you, not if he could help it.

And so that’s how he soon found himself confiding in Kise, and asking for advice on the topic.

“Your good with girls right, Kise?”

“Yeah, but why you asking? You want me to set you up with someone? Like on a date, I’ll do it if you ask nicely.”

Murasakibara could only shake his head, and a small smile graced his lips.

“I’m just curious, how do I get a girl to notice me.” Kise could only stare at the giant, and sigh as he looked at him.

“First things first, do you actually know the girl?” Murasakibara could only stare blankly at the blond man infront of him.

“Don’t tell me, you had a meet-cute?”

“Meet-cute? What’s that?”

“Honestly. A meet-cute is a amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them. Typically only happens in movies or soap operas. But on the rare occasion, real life too. So where and how did you meet her?”

“At the conscience store.”

“Oh let me take a guess, she’s a pretty cash register lady, and you so happened to be short on change so she spotted for you?”

“Nope. She gave me a popsicle.”

“Is that it?! Was that all it took for you to fall in love?!”

“She also gave me a bag of my favorite potato chips brand, the last one.” Kise stood in disbelief as he stared at the purple haired giant.

“Is she pretty?” Murasakibara could shake his head and a small smile graced his lips.

“She’s beautiful. Plus she’s also my ideal type. It was literally love at first sight, I swear.” Kise could only scoff in disbelief, and roll his eyes. All this cutesy talk was making him sick to his stomach.

“Well good luck with that. Next time try to actually talk to the girl, don’t be a chicken.”

“Hmm, I will.” Murasakibara couldn’t help, but smile at the thought of seeing you again. And just as he made his way to the connivance store, he passed by what appeared to be a group of high schoolers making their way inside as well.

“Hey, Kageyama.”

“Hmm? What?”

“I can’t believe (Y/n) ran all the way to the arena in time just before the tournament started. She’s amazing.” Murasakibara couldn’t help but have his ears perk up at the conversation.

“Well she didn’t have too, but she had no choice since you were crying saying you mixed up Hinata’s gym bag. Idiot, honestly.”

“She used to be on the track & field team in middle school.”

“So does she still complete?”

“(Y/n)? Ah no, she had to quit, and since then she rarely ever competes.”

“She quit?”

“Before she quit once due to a injury. I think she was in a competition, and she slipped, and rolling her ankle that subsequently severely fractured it. She had a cast on for a few months then after that a foot supporter for another few months. The doctors said the only way for her to run competitively again is to get surgery; and do intensive rehabilitation, but she never went through with getting it. Since then she was never the same. She’s been doing better, she actually seems happier then ever.”

“But then later she had further health issues which complicated her recovery and subsequently created conflicts with her running. So as to not burden the team any further, she withdrew from further competitions.” The room grew quiet as everyone waited on his next words.

No one could help, but catch the sullen look his features held or the dull gaze the boy’s eyes held as he continued to talk to his group of friends.

“But don’t worry she’s fine now. Still the biggest pain, ever.”

“Bigger than Hinata?”

“I wouldn’t go that far.” At this a small child clad in a similar team Jersey interjected, huffed out a complaint.

“I’ll have you know, I’m a delight to be around.”

“Yeah keep telling yourself that. Chibi-chan.”

Soon the days passed, and still you didn’t show up to the conscience store. He was worried, if he thought about it. Maybe what those first year club members said seemed like a lot. He wondered if his suspicions were true. Was it really you? Did something happen to you? Were you unwell again? He hoped not.

(This part was supposed to be my original idea but I couldn’t help myself, and made it a full scenario. I have officially become a Atsushi Murasakibara simp ;)

It was just his usual snack run; when he saw you again. You were pretty, and tall in all your glory. The literal embodiment of perfection, and everything in between. He couldn’t deny that, but the way you pouted as your ice cream fell set a fire within him. He ran back inside the store and purchased his favorite kind, and ran back out. And lo and behold you were still there pouting as you kicked the nearby pebbles back and forth with your feet.

“You can have this one, I accidentally bought a extra.” You looked up to the direction of where a familiar voice came from when suddenly you smiled up at him as you took the popsicle. He happily watched as you licked, and plopped the popsicle against your lips. As he watched you finish the popsicle he couldn’t help, but softly pout. He dreaded the mere thought of you leaving and him never seeing you, again. But as luck would have it, you gave a cheeky smile as you reached the end of your popsicle, the popsicle stick was engraved with a small quote.

“Happiness is all the ice cream you can eat.”

He swore his heart skipped a few beats as he saw you laugh.

“Thanks for the popsicle. Tall-kun.” But just as you were about to leave, Murasakibara grabs your hand, and looks at you.

“I’ll buy you even more treats if you go out with me. At least once, please.” Taken aback by his last comment, you could only ruffle through your bag and take out a marker. He saw you scribble something down on the back of the popsicle stick, and give it to him.

“My phone number, call me sometime this week. I like snacks, but I’ll love a proper meal next time. Until then.”

And with that you blew him a kiss before walking, but just as he began to think anymore you turned back around and yelled

“Oh by the way my name’s (Y/n). (Y/n) Kageyama.”

But just like that he found you at the convenience store, and just his luck you were eating the last popsicle yet again.

“Wait, don’t you want to know my name as well?” You looked back at him and held a cheeky smile against your pink lips.

“Nope. I heard about you from Midorima. Now that one, is a firm believer in fate. But I gotta say I think I have him beat in that department, right, Murasakibara Aksushi?”

At your words, Murasakibara couldn’t help, but have his whole face heat up.

“No fair, you knew my name all along.” He couldn’t help but catch the smile forming at the end of your pink lips as you glanced up at him.

“It was outside the gym, I saw you talking to Modorima before the tournament. I didn’t really have to ask because your name was written on your bag. But if I’m telling the truth, I asked him anyway. Just so you know, it was more like love at third sight. Three is my lucky number after all.”

And with a knowing smile you couldn’t help, but let out a chuckle.

“I expect a amazing dinner date. But I’ll make due with a snack one too. I’ll meet you then. Make sure this time you make a move. I’ll be waiting, Tall-kun.”

But what could he do, now he was a firm believer in fate. And as he saw your retreating figure, he couldn’t help, but smile. He wouldn’t go as far as say he understood Midorima now, but he couldn’t help but smile at the thought. Fate really did exist and it goes by the name of (Y/n) Kageyama.

Akashi has a reputation and image to portray at school. It’s a little hard to be the authority when your pocket princess is hanging off you.

Aomine

He likes it, but more for the attention.

Hugs are cool or whatever. But what he likes is that he has a cute s/o that loves him and runs up to give him hugs, and everyone can see.

Gets really moody when they don’t hug him, even in private, though. So he’s a big liar.

Kise

Pretty similar to Kise and they’ve had some near collisions because of it.

They’ll run up to him. He’ll run up to them. And one of them needs to stay static for this to work.

Very noisy about it too. Like shrieking magpies.

Kuroko

Used to it from Momoi but less uncomfortable about it since he shares their feelings.

It’s nice to be noticed, and to have someone excited to see him, as he’s usually overlooked.

Has been knocked down more than once in their enthusiasm.

Midorima

He does not like it and they’ve had conversations about it.

Midorima doesn’t like being touched often. He especially doesn’t like public displays of affection. They are inappropriate, and embarrassing, and this is his hell.

He appreciates that they are just excitable and excited to see him, so he suffers for them. But would prefer they not.

Murasakibara

Has no real opinion on it.

Despite it happening almost every single day, Murasakibara still always has that dull shock of surprise when they run up and hug him.

They can only get to about his waist, so sometimes he doesn’t even notice for a while. Just walking and dragging them along.

I saw this in a YouTube short and thought it was a brilliant scenario! Person A steals the phone of person B and replaces the lock screen photo with a naughty picture of themselves, puts the phone back in an easy to find place, and waits for person B's reaction (within the confines of there home obviously, noone else needs to see that.) I want S/O to do this prank to the GOM boys to see how they would react.

Kuroko: You'd never seen him slap his phone back down onto the table so quickly before. Kuroko takes a brief second to recompose himself, taking a breath before slowly peeking at his lockscreen again. When he sees your nude on the screen, you hear his breath hitch.

"____-chan, please... You can't just tease me like this."

Kise: It's like it happens in slow motion. Kise flips his phone over, glancing down at the screen. The image of you scantily clad in your lingerie has him pausing. He stares for a few seconds too long, his face slowly going through every shade of red. There's a whine in the back of his throat.

"When did you take this? Do you have more?"

Aomine: He almost doesn't notice at first, but when he does, Aomine is slow to react. He lifts a brow, expression changing from curious to devious as he smirks down at the picture. After a few seconds, you see him trying to zoom in, a light snicker leaving his lips when he realizes you're watching his reaction.

"You know I'm keeping this as it is now, right?"

Midorima: His first reaction upon seeing your nude picture was to clutch his phone close to his chest, as if there were people nearby that were eavesdropping. He eyes instantly pinpoint onto you, glaring with his lips downturned into a frown. He holds his phone up to you, shaking it.

"Ch-change it back! I don't want other people seeing this!"

Murasakibara: The sucker held between his lips drops a bit as his jaw goes slack. That, accompanied with the slight tinting of red on his cheeks, is the only indication Murasakibara gives you that you've caught him by surprise. Before you can fully gauge his reaction, he's putting his phone away into his pocket.

"Huh? Change it back? No way, ____-chin. It's my favorite now."

Akashi: The slow exhale of breath he lets out is your only clue that he's been caught off guard. Akashi's lips slowly curl up into an amused smile. When his phone screen goes dark, he taps on it just to get another look at the picture. His eyes flicker over to yours, catching your gaze.

"Looks like I've found a gift."

Part three: Kise

He loves them still. He loved them even when everything was ashes and dust, when his whole life burned, caught into flames and all of the things he knew disappeared. He loved them when the floor under his feet vanished, the roof over his head fell apart and he was left there, homeless. 

He loves them still. He loved them all still after the fire took everything from them, everything he had turned into nothing piece by piece as months went by. He loved them still after the first punch Midorima threw at him; after Murasakibara’s voice invaded his head calling him weak for crying; after his own poisoned heart destroyed Kuroko’s out of pure fun. Kuroko, who he adores wholeheartedly. Kuroko, who taught him all he knew and more, gave him a place on the team. And he went and lit all of those things up with his brilliant stupid idea. He’s not proud of himself for that game he suggested, for that breaking point he pushed Kuroko into. He’s not proud of how funny it was, how normal it felt, how harmless they thought it would be. He’s not proud of being 15 and selling his soul for the coach to say he did a good job, selling his image to anyone that said he looked pretty in jewels and less clothes. 

Somewhere along the line he learned he was worth more than the rest, and yet he felt like less than every single person he loved.
