ft. mira kanō x gn!reader

a/n: i used the king of hearts game in the netflix (with some info from the wiki) for this! mira and the reader are both players here. hope this is alright ヽ(>∀<☆)ノ

"they just died, mira! just like that! and there was nothing i could do to save them.."

you paced back and forth, biting your fingers in a futile attempt to calm down. hot tears were still making tracks down your face, a reminder of the recent king of hearts game. a swirl of emotions occupied your every thought, leaving you unable to think about anything other than the game. you'd cleared it safely, but the same couldn't be said for the players with you. the 13 visa days you'd been granted certainly didn't feel worth it.

in contrast, the woman opposite you was unexplainably calm. but to be perfectly honest, you'd never seen mira lose her cool, not even when you two were in more difficult and distressing games together. it was...comforting, you thought. seeing her calm in situations where the other players were panicking and making desperate attempts to save themselves.

but at the same time, it was chillingly scary how unfazed your girlfriend was. you'd witnessed first hand, many times, how she was undisturbed by the deaths of fellow players in the borderlands. sometimes, you wondered whether she would have a similar reaction to your death, if that moment ever came.

but in moments like this, you think that no, she wouldn't. because mira is your girlfriend after all. and she does care about you as both a fellow player and her partner. as she gently puts her arms around you, facial expression remaining ever so calm, you clung to her desperately. you hadn't realized how starved you were for some comfort, how much hope and mental energy the game had sucked out of you.

"i know how kind you are. how you want to save everyone. but it wasn't your fault that they died in the most difficult hearts game." she spoke into your shoulder softly, reaching to take your hand.

"i could've done something though! it feels wrong that i'm the only one who survived.."

your tone had changed from angry to horribly, sadly upset. now, the full force of what had happened hit you.

"don't cry. you'll get through this, my love. there's no use in sobbing over events that you have no way of changing." mira moved back to face you, your hand gripping onto hers desperately. it was comforting, the gentle tone in which she spoke. and your tears were slowly dissipating, lowering in intensity.

obviously, your heart still ached with the pain of witnessing those you'd become friends with die. and the ones who were strangers to you, too. but for now, you could be a little happier with the presence of mira, who eased you through the suffering in an endlessly calm and loving way.

“VICTORY!” is my new digital illustration inspired by Netflix’s Alice in Borderland and Mira Kanō ✨ This portrait is inspired by the very last episode of AIB s1. Not gonna lie, I had goosebumps the whole time and I can’t wait to see the new games in the second season. Her character got me curios to the point I want to read the manga and see what’s gonna happen next! I assigned Mira to the Queen of Hearts and let’s be honest, is there any more suitable clubs? Theory for AIB S3

After a rather short while of going back and rewatching S1 after finishing S2, I began extensively analyzing everything in the show regarding characters and what we now know from S2.

Before I go any further, I would first like to point out there will be spoilers for Alice in Borderland S1 and S2 following this. I would also like to point out that Chishiya is my favorite character and I’m pretty sure it will show in the following paragraphs.

Theory

When I first started contemplating this theory, I thought it was too on the nose for what we’d already seen from the show. However, the more I thought about it and analyzed my supporting evidence, the more it seemed to be perfect with how S2 ended.

So, we know that two of the executives from The Beach were Game Masters of Face games in the new season, Keiichi Kuzuryū (King of Diamonds) and Mira Kanō (Queen of Hearts). We also know that once all the games have been defeated, all surviving players are given a choice: To become a permanent resident of the Borderland or to deny the offer.

I believe that Last Boss will be the Game Master of the Joker card.

Supporting Evidence

S1E7: The Beach has become a killing ground and game tournament for the 10 of Hearts game. Kuina buys Anne time by engaging in combat with Last Boss. During this fight, we get to see glimpses of both Kuina and Last Boss’s pasts as well as learn that Last Boss has never felt more alive than in The Borderland playing the games. The last clip we see of the fight, is a final blow from Kuina and her giving a nod to what her father had taught her.

S1E8: The game continues, Arisu exposes Aguni for the death of Hatter, and all hell breaks loose once again. It isn’t until the dealer of the game reveals herself to distract Aguni and give Arisu the advantage to finish the game, that we find out that Niragi survived Chishiya’s jerry-rigged flamethrower (it was honestly very impressive and very enjoyable to watch). Hellbent, Niragi tries to continue to mow through the final survivors of The Beach, but is finally apprehended by Aguni, and the two disappear into the smoke from the fire with only two gunshots signaling the end of that battle. When the final survivors of The Beach finally complete the game, we get a final glimps of Last Boss, still alive in the burning building that is The Beach.

S2E2: To my surprise, and I’m sure everyone else’s, the disgusting scum of a human, Niragi shows up at the King of Clubs game, already registered and now forced to team up with Arisu and his group.

S2E4-E5: Aguni also miraculously survived the fire at The Beach.

S2E8: The final clip we get of this season was the entire 52 cards of the deck on a table. A wind picks up and blows off all the cards leaving one, The Joker.

Also with going back and rewatching S1 and analyzing Last Boss and his mannerisms, he’s a very animated sociopath. Especially in the fight scene against Kuina, the maniacal laughter, toying with her like a cat with a mouse. He even said so himself, he never felt more alive than in the game.

Her gloved hands cradled the base of her floral teacup as though it were delicate as a bird the taste of tea lingering on Mira's tongue. With it did her imagination come alive, imagining a scenario where her imminent death wasn't the next step. Where the automated voice cried out GAME CLEARED and a red light didn't descend from the heavens to claim it's next soul Mira Kanō. She would've shaken Arisu's hand and helped Usagi stand, even allowing the woman to lean on her for support, not giving a damn about the hem of her dress dirtying or fraying.

Through all of the deceit and trickery, life and death, the two players had proven they shared a love so pure it had come from the heart to fight the mind as brilliant lights of hope. Together they'd cast away the darkness in such a hauntingly beautiful way even Mira had been brought to tears, having forgotten such a thing existed. In this scenario, they had changed her. Or had in another life, perhaps. But in this reality, Mira had known the consequences of losing since the day she'd accepted her citizenship.
