Heat Kills
Plot: Reader has an heatstroke caused by an intensive workout.
Maya Bishop x Carina DeLuca x reader
Tumblr media
You can't stand the heat; you’ve hated it since you were little, always. When summer came, you were happy just because school was over but, at the same time, you hated the forty degrees you had to endure every single day.
Then you became a professional soccer player and, having always played on teams up north, you never felt as hot as you did this season with the OL Reign. Although the Seattle Women's soccer Team has been a great benefit in your career, this scorching heat is truly terrible, especially since you are not used to it.
A small sigh leaves your lips as you grab your water bottle and tuck it into your backpack, ready to face a scorching workout in the ten o'clock morning sun.
"Good morning Bella, where are you going?" Carina hugs you from behind, her breasts pressing against your back as she fondles your butt with an amused smirk on her face.
"Car I'm on my way to practice and I'm already late ... as much as I would like to slam you against this table, unfortunately I can't."
You turn around, staying in her arms and kissing the tip of her nose with a smile.
Carina pouts, and after a few seconds, just long enough for her brain to work and understand what you've just told her, her gaze changes to a frown of confusion and concern at the same time.
"The weather alert has been issued, didn't you see it Bambina? You can't train in this heat, it's going to be 104° F out there..."
You sigh and shake your head slightly. You knew this conversation would happen, and you also know how it will end. Probably with a gorgeous, sexy Italian doctor very pissed off at you.
"Car, I can't miss another workout. Less than two weeks ago I was sick and couldn't train for almost a whole week, I can't miss any more days. I have to earn my place on the team, you know it's important to me…like this"
Carina shakes her head several times, hard. She tortures her lower lip, clenching it between her teeth, and although you find it very sexy, the particularly pissed off look on the Italian's face gives you pause to comment on how hot she is when she does this.
"You'll get sick if you run in this heat. They can't make you train with a weather alert, è sconsiderato e stupido. Cazzo."
Your lovely girl rants in her native language, and you foolishly fail to control yourself and let your eyes wander to the clock hanging on the wall behind the angry doctor.
You had never done that before.
"Are you really thinking you're going to be late? No way, you can't really think about going y/n. Ugh, who am I kidding? Of course you want to go, sometimes I think you're worse than Maya...you know what, fai come ti pare."
"Carina, wait-"
Before you can even try to stop her and reason with her, the brunette locks herself in your bedroom slamming the door and making the whole apartment shake.
You know her, you know that she just has to let the pissing go now. So, despite the knot in your stomach from the fight and with the excuse of giving her the space she needs, you bend down to pick up your duffel bag and then leave the apartment, stuffing your car keys into the left pocket of your shorts, ready to head to the soccer field.
.........................................................................................
After only an hour and a half of practice, you realize you've screwed up big time when you start to lose all feeling in your body and feel like you're floating on air. Your teammates are no better off than you are.
You cast a glance at Coach Harvey, praying that she will notice the terrible condition you are in but you doubt it. After all, she is sitting in the shade and with all this heat you doubt she is really watching you. At least, not today.
The ball is put back in the middle, after Clarke has scored one of her famous goals, and the coach blows her whistle. You run nonstop to get to Clarke's side; you cross the half-court line and are careful not to be offside as you pass the ball between you over and over again.
You don't know how but suddenly you are no longer in control of your body and your right foot ends up over the ball instead of to the side. In less than a second, you find yourself on the ground groaning in pain as soon as you hit the ground.
"Fuck."
You snort, wrinkling your nose and taking the hand offered to you without even understanding who is offering it to you. Octavia gives you a smile, although she can't really hide the worry on her face.
She helps you to your feet and puts a hand on your shoulder.
"You don't look so good, are you okay?"
Meanwhile, the other girls have taken the opportunity there to take a break and drink some water, and you don't blame them, especially considering that you still have another hour of training ahead of you.
Octavia Blake is many things but she is definitely not a quitter. Never.
"You're really hot y/n, are you sure you feel good?"
You don't answer her, you don't feel good at all, and you can't even understand her.
"I don't think Carina and Maya would agree, you know? I'll take you to them."
You don't really understand what she is saying, not at all. The heat clouds your mind; you run a hand over your forehead, you have the impression that you are dripping with sweat but actually you are not, your hand is completely dry when you pull it back.
Not good, not good at all. A cold shiver runs down your spine as you lean against Octavia making her support you even more and she is the one who supports you even more.
From that moment until she takes you to Station 19, you don't notice anything, just her shaking you from time to time as you go, calling your name several times as you continue to lose consciousness. The only time you realize you are at the station is when Andy and Vic help Octavia get you out of the car.
They’re probably calling your name but you can't answer; honestly, you don't even know how you are there, really.
You don't know how much time has passed, but you only begin to understand what is going on around you because of your Italian girlfriend's warm hands caressing your face.
"Bambina, bambina look at me. Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
Carina swipes a strand of wet hair from your forehead, bringing it behind your ear. The doctor pulls a small flashlight out of her gown, turns it on and holds it in front of your eyes while she holds your head still.
"Y/n, follow the light, honey. Follow the light, okay?"
You wrinkle your nose, and the nausea you have been feeling up to this point only increases as you are blinded by the flashlight.
You scan Carina with one arm, turn onto your side and vomit all the contents of your stomach onto the floor.
Carina strokes your back, trying to give you as much comfort as she can, while Andy shoves an IV of cold fluids into you.
"Andy, call Maya. I think the heat stroke is a lo worse than I thought. She's not even sweating..."
As soon as Carina sees Andy running down the hall to find your firegirl, she immediately turns to you and takes the thermometer out of Vic's hands. She sticks it in your mouth, even though you are not very cooperative, and waits for you to make the sound to check your temperature: 104° F.
Carina gasps and her heart stops for a few seconds; she is more than aware that such a temperature is very dangerous and could even make you convulse.
You start sobbing and try to reach Carina with clumsy and uncoordinated movements, seeking the comfort of a hug. You feel so bad that you do not realize what you are doing; it is as if you have no control over your body. Your confused state only makes the doctor more concerned.
"Bella we can't, your temperature is too high."
Carina bites her lip, trying not to cry. She wants to hold you in her arms but she can’t.
"Car..."
Carina feels her heart stop when suddenly your eyes roll back and your body is suddenly shaken by convulsions.
"Damn it, no no no. Come back to me, Bella.”
Carina turns you on your side, pulling up the arms of the cot and takes care of your head.
"Vic, give her a 12-mg Diazepam drip!"
Vic goes to the station's medical supplies in a flash and rummages around until she finds what Carina asked for. She prepares the solution and inserts the IV into your left arm, which Carina says is your best arm for targeting veins.
In less than three minutes your body has stopped moving. Carina pulls your hair back from in front of your face and leaves a kiss on your forehead before unwinding the IV bag a bit to check the speed at which the drug is being administered.
"Carina!"
Maya Bishop, Captain of Station 19 as well as your girlfriend, comes running up to you. Concern fills her blue eyes that you love so much.
"What happened? Andy told me you were with her but she didn't tell me what it was about..."
Maya takes your hand between her own wincing in shock when she feels how much heat your skin is giving off.
"Shit, she's burning up. We have to get her to Grey's Sloan."
Carina and Maya exchange a glances. Carina twists her lower lip between her teeth and runs a hand through her hair. Both you and the blonde know that this gesture indicates that the brunette is very worried about something.
"No, you know how much she hates Bella hospitals. We can't, we can't do that to her. Let's take her to your office and use your shower to cool her down."
Maya leans over to take you in her arms but Carina stops her, shaking her head firmly.
"You have to be very careful Maya, we shouldn't even be moving her but we need to get her temperature down quickly. She had a seizure and I'm afraid she may still have another one.”
Carina whispers, her voice breaking as she thinks back to the feeling of a few moments ago. Maya takes a deep breath; she doesn't think she has ever been so scared in her entire life. She barely nods, taking you in her arms with such gentleness that she is surprised herself. Maya walks down the corridor to the door of her own office; Carina opens the door for you, and as soon as you cross the threshold, she closes it again.
The blonde firefighter lays you down on her bed, paying special attention to your head as Carina kneels beside you. She puts two fingers on your right wrist to check your pulse while looking at the clock on the wall.
"Pulse is dropping, we need to cool her down now, Maya-“
"Shit, she's seizing. Maya, help me!"
Carina turns you onto your side, removing the pillow from under your head and being very careful about the arm in which the IV needle is still stuck .
"Maya, Maya I need you to focus amore mio. She needs you; Maya look at me" Carina groans in frustration and concern for the blonde, watching her stand absolutely still in front of this horrible sight, "Maya!"
The firefighter blinks a few times before recovering from her shocked state and jumping into action. She lifts everything around that could hurt you and helps Carina hold you on your side so you don't choke on your own tongue.
It takes a good three interminable minutes before the seizure is over and Maya and Carina's arms ache from the force they had to use to hold you down.
"We're running out of time," Carina says, starting to remove off every layer of clothing but your underwear before taking you into her arms. Maya looks like a machine, she does everything Carina tells her to do - like turn on the shower, for example - but her eyes are blank, the Italian knows very well that the blonde is not in a good headspace right now but now the priority, as much as it hurts her to have to necessarily choose between the two of you, is you.
Maya turns on the tub's faucet and waits for it to fill. Carina steps in and slowly and gently losers you into the tub. You gasp, your eyes jerking open as your body feels the excessive change in temperature. A whimper escapes your lips as you try to pull away from the icy grip but firm hands hold you down, whispering excuses you don't want to hear right now.
"N-no, f-cold. I-I don't want to."
Chills run down your spine, making you whimper softly as you try to pulls your girls closer to you.
"I know Amore, I know... Shh, it's okay. You'll get better, you'll get better."
Carina rubs your back, somehow trying to comfort you without giving you too much heat.
The Italian puts her hand on your forehead, feeling that your temperature has dropped a bit.
"Maya I'm cold, I'm cold, I don't want to do this anymore. Please, I don't want to do this anymore."
The fever makes you start cry and your body is shaken by sobs that only make you feel worse.
Her name spoken by you make out of the near catatonic state she has been in.
“Baby, you need to calm down, this is not good for you okay? I promise it will be over soon but this way you are putting to much strain on your heart love. Please calm down."
Maya takes your hand and brings it to her own chest for you to follow her breathing and you do, unconsciously and maybe out of habit, but you do.
Carina keeps an eye on your heartbeat the whole time; her fingers never leaving your pulse for a moment, and her heart only seems to start beating again only when your pulse slows down and becomes stable again, at least for your current condition.
More than twenty minutes pass in the freezing water before you are finally covered with at least a T-shirt and then placed on the bed in Maya's office. Under cooling blankets, contrary to what you would have liked. Your mind is clearer and Carina and Maya are very relieved about that.
"What happened?"
Your voice is barely more than a whisper. You are struggling to find the words and your mouth feels as if it is stuck. It is also exhausting to talk right now, you can barely move your head towards them to look into their eyes as you speak.
"Heat stroke, Octavia brought you here Bella. You've had two convulsive episodes from a high fever. It's down now, but you're not out of the woods yet, so you need to rest."
Carina strokes your face as she points to the IV in your arm. As soon as you see it, you panic. You sit up and scratch your arm to pull the IV out. Under normal circumstances, you would think before you act but now, the delirium of heatstroke is just flying the last neurons you had.
"No no no, the press will go crazy with this news. I can't stay in the hospital, I have to get out of here; an OL soccer player in the hospital for heat stroke, n-"
Maya grabs your face and, to your and Carina's surprise, slaps you. Not so hard that it really hurts, but hard enough to bring you back to reality.
Although shock, fever, and heat stroke cloud your mind, you recognize where you are in a few moments.
"Oh...we're in your office."
You place the hand you were about to use to remove your IV at your side and give them a small apologetic smile.
"It's okay Bella, now get some rest. I'd like to keep you here a little longer for observation. We’ll take you home tonight, if all goes as it should."
Carina leans over you and plants a kiss on your lips, followed soon after by Maya.
"Now Maya and I will talk, you rest. Oh, and don't even think you've escaped the lecture. It’s waiting for you as soon as you feel better.”
Carina smiles at you with a wink and then leaves the office followed by Maya. Not before the latter mimics you an "I love you" with her lips and mentally asks you to pray for her. Surely, Carina won't let her get over the slap she gave you a few minutes ago.
Hey, thanks for reading. I know it's not much and it’s not that good but it's better than nothing, right? Write a comment and tell me what you think. Have a nice day!
p.s: I wrote this because it's like thirty-five degrees in Italy and I'm dying :)

Y/N takes a few deep breaths as she waits for her turn in the backstage area. She’s going through her lines in her head, making sure she won’t forget anything once she steps on the small stage, even though this isn’t the opening night.
She has been part of a youth theatre group for over two years now, and this is the first time she has gotten the lead role. Her nerves are high, but so is her excitement. This is a big moment for her, she is proud of herself, and she really hopes her moms will be proud of her too.
As her costar finishes their line, Y/N rolls her shoulders back, straightens her posture, and walks out to the stage. She starts speaking her lines to the audience, not yet acknowledging the other actor on the stage, this is her character’s inner monologue.
Her eyes scan over the crowd of people as discreetly as possible. There isn’t one empty chair in the room. This play became fairly popular after getting a spot in the local newspaper. She showed the page to her moms, practically glowing with pride. Her face isn’t showing any changes, but her mind is turning blue. Her mothers aren’t here. It is the last show, and her mothers aren’t here.
Still, she continues on. And she does wonderfully. All the teens come up to the stage at the end and take a bow as they listen to the applause with wide smiles. Someone’s parent brought everyone flowers, and it makes Y/N bitter, but she smiles and thanks them, her grip tight on the bouquet.
After changing out of her costume and packing her things, Y/N walks back home. It’s only a fifteen minute walk, so she is unlocking the front door by no time.
“I’m home!” She yells out, shutting the door and throwing her keys on the table in the hallway. “Anybody here?” Kicking off her shoes, she walks deeper into the house, only to find it empty.
Y/N sighs and walks into her room. She should’ve expected this. Both of her moms have demanding jobs, they won’t be able to attend to all of her achievements..or any of them.
This is just how it is.
Y/N’s hand shakes as she holds onto a piece of paper. It’s already crumbled by her grip, but she makes sure the text in it is still readable. Her body continues moving slightly, either from nerves or the uncomfortable feeling of the hard plastic chair she is sitting on.
She lets out a quiet sigh. Her turn is coming up. Soon, she will have to get up in front of all her peers and their parents, and give a speech that she wrote. Of course, Y/N accepted this responsibility when her teacher came up to her and said they believe her to be the best person for the job. And who is Y/N to say no to that? An adult figure comes to her and gives her a compliment, basically telling her they’re proud of her. She craves that. She needs it.
A round of applause brings her back to the moment. The teacher in front of the microphone is looking at her with a smile on their face, they’re signaling it’s her turn next.
Taking a deep breath, she straightens her posture and listens to the teacher’s introduction of her. After it, she stands up and walks in front of the microphone, thanking them for this opportunity.
Her eyes glance over everyone in the room. She doesn’t see her moms, but Y/N doesn’t panic. They have to be in the back, maybe they got in late, she reminded them of this event too many times for them to not show up.
She unwraps her paper and places it on the stand. “Good morning, students and parents. I’m thankful to be up here today, especially when knowing my school days are minimal.” She smiles. “The last months of school are scary, I’m sure many of my peers agree, there’s so much uncertainty in change. What am I supposed to do after? Where do I go? Who am I?”
Y/N takes a deep breath, “I don’t know what I want to do with my future. The fear of not being or doing something great debilitates me, because wouldn’t it be a waste of a life if I never did something memorable.” Her eyes stay on the audience, only occasionally glancing down at her paper. She has memorized this speech. “My moms change lives everyday, one of them is a firefighter and the other is an OB-GYN, she literally brings new life into this world.” She giggles quietly, though her worries are growing by the minute. Her moms are nowhere to be seen.
“You’d think that with parents like that, my need to change the world would be bigger. But they’re actually the reason why they shrink every day. They tell me that life isn’t about doing something big and great that future generations will remember you for. It’s about love, friends, family, the goodness of your heart, it’s about making yourself proud.” Y/N turns the page around. “My mother Maya tells me to imagine being with little me and telling her about my life. Would she be happy? Would her eyes shine in wonder because she knows I haven’t forgotten her?”
Swallowing, her eyes cast down. She’s gripping the sides of the paper tighter now. Her moms aren’t here. “I would like to say yes. Because even though I haven’t always done the right thing, she would still hug me and tell me it’s okay, because I’m still me, no matter what. You know why?” She looks at the audience with a lopsided smile, “because even though I can’t always recognize my reflection in the mirror, my laugh is still the same horrible cackle I had as a kid.” There are some laughs in the audience, especially from her friends, who have heard her laugh before.
“So, change is scary and you’ll probably never figure out who you truly are. But that’s okay, the little kid you imagine sitting next to you knows, and they think you’re pretty great.” Y/N folds her paper and gives the audience a bright smile. “Thank you again for giving me this opportunity, I hope you all have a great day, and remember to stay true to yourself.” The audience starts clapping and Y/N walks back to her seat.
“That was awesome!” One of her friends whispers, holding her arm with so much excitement.
“My moms aren’t here.” Is the only thing Y/N whispers back.
“Oh shit,” her friend frowns, “I’m sorry.”
She shrugs and gives her a small smile. “It doesn’t matter.” With that, she turns back to the teacher who has gone back to the microphone.
It’s already two in the night and Y/N is still up. She is sitting on the couch, watching the television while she waits for her moms to come back home from work. They wouldn’t like her being awake this late, but she doesn’t care. She is angry, and sad, and she needs to yell to someone, preferably her moms.
The front door opens quietly after twenty minutes, it’s her moms trying to come in without waking up sleeping Y/N. Their steps sound slow and sluggish, but they’re still giggling together. Somehow it angers Y/N even more.
“What are you still doing up?” Maya is the first one to come to the living room, though Carina is right behind her. “Is everything okay?” She drops her bag down to the floor before sitting on the other couch.
“Where were you?”
Carina looks confused, “we were at work, mia cara.”
Y/N scoffs, “my school event was today.” She states, glaring at her mothers. “You know, the one where I held a speech that I wrote. I reminded you about it like a million times!”
“Oh, honey,” Maya sighs, “we told you we’d try to get out of work for it, but you know how our jobs are.” She looks genuinely remorseful, but none of that matters to Y/N at this moment.
“It doesn’t look like you tried hard enough. I first told you about it months ago! They couldn’t give you one day off with that much notice?”
“Do you think we wanted to miss it?”
“Well it sure looks like you didn’t care about it, or me for that matter.”
“Y/N-“
Carina tries to speak up, but Y/N doesn’t let her speak, “no! I do think you wanted to miss this, I think you’ve wanted to miss every single event I’m in. You know why?” Her brows are raised as she stands up. “I don’t remember what the last important event of mine was where you actually showed up. You’ve missed all of my plays, my school events, sports games, everything. You’re never there! Nor are you ever here. You guys never have time to talk to me, or, or help me with my homework.” Her speech is starting to get faster and tears are starting to gather in her eyes. “I doubt you even know what’s going on with my life anymore!”
Maya and Carina try to defend themselves, but nothing comes out of their mouths. Y/N is right. Even they can’t remember the last time they spent proper quality time with their daughter.
“So what’s your excuse, huh? You don’t care about me anymore? You don’t want me anymore?” She shrugs, sniffling quietly. “I’d rather know than wonder why my moms don’t make time for me anymore.”
The hurt and vulnerability in her voice breaks Maya and Carina’s heart. Their daughter should never have to doubt their love for her. “I’m so sorry, love.” Maya stands up, taking a few steps forward. “We’re both so sorry. We just- I guess we didn’t realize how much time we were spending at work.”
Carina stands up and pulls Y/N into an embrace, which she resist at first, but gives up and leans in right after. “I’m sorry, mia cara, I’m sorry. You’re my baby and I love you more than anything else in the world.” Carina whispers, tears falling down her cheeks. “You’re right, we haven’t been very good moms lately, but I promise you that will change, okay? We will do better.” She pulls away, setting her palms on both of Y/N’s cheeks to look at her face. She can’t stand seeing it with such a painful expression, especially one that she caused.
“You’re just saying that.” Y/N’s voice is more quiet now, her anger having turned to sadness.
“We’re not.” Maya states with a firm tone, setting her hand on Y/N’s shoulder. “We will start taking days off work, you’re more important. Do you think you could hold your speech for us now?”
Y/N shakes her head, looking down. “I don’t think I want to, not today at least.”
“Okay,” Maya frowns but she understands, “some other day then.”
“Yeah,” biting the inside of her cheek, Y/N wipes the wetness off of her cheeks, “do you think I could sleep in your bed this night?”
“Yes, yes, of course.” Carina wraps one of her arms around Y/N as the three of them start walking towards the master bedroom.
They change into their pajamas and do the rest of their evening routine in silence. Y/N is the first one to climb onto the bed, already getting under the covers while her mothers whisper in the bathroom. She’s already half asleep when they turn off the lights and limb onto the bed, sandwiching her.
Carina starts playing with Y/N’s hair while Maya wraps her arms around her. “We love you so so much, you know that, right?” Her voice is quiet, not wanting to disturb her.
“Usually,” Y/N’s eyes are already closed, “but sometimes I doubt it. I really love you guys too.” She whispers.
Maya tightens her hold at the words. They pain her, but she doesn’t have anyone else to blame but herself. “We’ll make sure to remind you everyday.” The two women kiss Y/N’s forehead, saying their goodnights when they notice their daughter’s tiredness.
In their heads, they both vow to make Y/N feel more loved and cared for than she ever has.

Maya wasn’t sad, she wasn’t heartbroken. No, she was pissed. Only a couple months had gone by and you were already seen spending time with some unknown girl. Maya knew all your friends, she didn’t know this one. So, she felt it was a fair assumption to say the intentions between you two were all but platonic.
Maya wasn’t even sure how you and her broke up. It was a screaming match that she started. Unfortunately, she knew that part all too well. Words were said on both sides. Hurtful words; the kind that doesn’t just get forgotten when the fight eventually ends. Except, this fight didn’t really end at all. To be fair, you tried to settle the fight. You had asked for space and wanted to get out of the apartment before either of you said anymore that you’d regret.
But then when you said you were leaving for the night, Maya said not to bother coming back. She wasn’t done with this fight and the heat of the moment got the better of her. Those words flew from her mouth before she could even process them. No way in hell did she mean them. They were only said as a means to hurt you. To make matters worse though, was the furious look you threw back at her and the simple “fine then” you muttered as you slammed the door.
And then you actually didn’t come back. Maya thought you understood that it was said in anger. She didn’t think you’d take it so seriously. There was no doubt in her mind that you’d come back a couple weeks later. But a couple weeks turned into a couple months and she was starting to sweat.
Lucky for you, the relationship was fairly new when it ended. You still had your own apartment and barely anything at Maya’s place. New didn’t mean it wasn’t serious though. Very early into the relationship, Maya blurted out that she loved you in the fit of a jealous rage when she thought someone was coming onto you. That should’ve been the first red flag: you two were fighting even when declaring your love for each other.
After the night she told you not to come back, you were so utterly offended that you did exactly that. There would need to be a serious apology from Maya before you even thought about taking her back. Since she was the one to start the fight and escalate it the way she did, you decided it was her responsibility to reach out first. Deep down, you knew she didn’t really mean it, but you weren’t going to bet all your money on it until she admitted that she didn’t.
Maya could be so fucking stubborn. When weeks went by with radio silence from Maya, you were about to give up. The sting of knowing your relationship was over so soon was there, but even bigger was the frustration that Maya so willingly tossed aside something that could’ve been good. Was all your fighting healthy? No, probably not, but it’s kind of how Maya functions. You were starting to learn that quickly and slowly trying to help her unlearn it. But in the typical Maya fashion you were semi-warned about, she pushed until she took it too far.
When you started to give up, you also started to meet people. Nothing serious, most women you met didn’t make it past one coffee date. But then there was one girl who was… persistent. It was like she was smitten with you after a few text conversations and two casual dates. You didn’t feel the same, unfortunately. Maya was still very much on your mind and you weren’t over her at all. Giving up on your hopes that she would come to her senses was one thing, learning to unlove her was another.
Though, this girl wasn’t the worst company. You tried to keep it friendly, realizing quickly she was way more into you than you were into her. She agreed to accept that, but you assumed she had the hopes that your mind would change. Honestly, you hoped for that too.
She was attractive. You couldn’t lie that you thought that. Did you want to touch her? No, not when the only thoughts of being intimate with someone still led your brain to think back to all the times Maya touched you. But, she was still someone you could see yourself being open about it with. If you ever got over Maya, that is.
This girl wasn’t as attractive as Maya though. She didn’t have the smug smile that you loved so much, or the flexing arm muscles that you fixated on, or the cocky attitude that you couldn’t help but love. All you could do was compare her to Maya. It wasn’t all downsides in your mind, though. She was more patient than Maya, more gentle and kind too. It was a breath of fresh air compared to how possessive and quick to anger Maya could get.
But still that didn’t stop you from wanting Maya. God, how you wanted her. When you two were together, the way she made love to you made you feel like your entire being belonged to her. You missed that so much. There were times, when you remembered the way she touched you, that your resolve almost broke.
A few times you went out for drinks with friends, you’d see Maya at the bar too. Joe’s was her go to and you purposely picked it so she’d see you and be reminded of what she was missing. Maya usually avoided eye contact with you then, but when you started going to the bar with just one girl instead of your regular group of friends, that’s when it changed. It was after your dates with her and after you asked to just be friends. When you went to the bar with her, it really wasn’t meant to be a date or even look like one. It was also supposed to be just one time, but then that one time turned into more when you discovered you could get a reaction out of Maya.
The girl would often stand too close to you. She’d touch your arm and buy you drinks, despite your agreement to remain platonic. That first time, Maya passed you by in the bar and finally met your eyes. The fire you saw inside them nearly made you gasp. She seems furious. Even better, though, was that she also seemed extremely jealous.
After that, you made it a regular thing to grab drinks with this girl. The more she saw you with one specific person, the angrier she appeared and the more triumphant you felt. Only problem was, seeing her like this was threatening to break your own promise to yourself.
As fucked up as it sounded, it was turning you on. All you wanted was for her to grab you and fuck you in the bar’s bathroom. But that was a dangerous desire to have, so you tried to ignore it and made another promise with yourself: No being alone with Maya until she seemed willing to apologize. If she did actually act on her jealousy and anger and got you alone, then you’d be losing this battle. Not only did you make the “no alone with Maya” rule, but you also limited your visits to the bar with the other girl eventually. Time was stretching on with no apology, and you were losing hope in Maya. This couldn’t be healthy for you, so you decided this little game needed to end and distance would be a good thing.
What you really didn’t need was to be stuck locked in Station 19 with Maya. Of course, that’s exactly what happened when a snowstorm blew out your apartment’s power and even the backup generators too. You and a handful of your other neighbors, plus others in different apartment complexes with similar situations, were then forced to seek shelter and warmth in Maya’s station. It was the closest, after all.
You weren’t sure if it was a blessing or a curse that the girl you were definitely not dating but spending regular time with was also stuck there. She at least would serve as a barrier between you and Maya. Or so you hoped.
As time ticked by you were getting more and more frustrated and on edge. Maya’s eyes were always on you from the moment she realized you were trapped in the station with her. There weren't enough places to hide from her either. If you left one room for another room, a few minutes later she’d follow.
It impressed you how neutral Maya seemed, though. What you didn’t know was Maya was seething on the inside, but she had to stay professional. She was captain after all and there were so many other people around. It would not be a good look for her career if she suddenly blew up at you and your new little girlfriend in the middle of the station.
But she couldn’t stop thinking about the audacity this girl had in touching you so freely. Your hands, your waist, your arms. She was fawning all over you and it made Maya rage. It would be way easier if she just stopped watching you. She could hide in her office and it would fix everything.
Except, she wasn’t about to take her eyes off the two of you. What would happen if she wasn’t watching? This girl might sneak off with you and do god knows what. Maya couldn’t have that. She wouldn’t. So, Maya kept watch over the two of you and took a small victory in knowing the way her gaze made you visibly uncomfortable.
Even then, as the hours ticked by, this girl was getting much closer. Maya was seeing red at this point. The thin string that was holding her together was about to snap and she wasn’t sure what she would do when it did. She kept trying to tell herself that professionalism was important, but then that fucking girl was whispering in your ear and Maya could’ve sworn you were blushing and then that thin string in side her just snapped. Maya slammed her hands on the desk next to her and caused everyone around to jump. Your eyes were on her now, eyebrows arched in a way that Maya took as your way to challenge her. It wasn’t, but Maya wasn’t exactly thinking rationally now.
Maya wanted to yell at the person with you to get her damn hands off your body, but Maya waltzed right up to you and grabbed your arm instead. “I need to talk to you,” she said even though she was already hauling you away from everyone. She didn’t even bother to acknowledge the girl with you. Fuck that, Maya wasn’t going to give a shit about her reaction.
You may have protested a little bit, but Maya didn’t seem to notice. She just kept dragging you through the station until you came to a door that said “off limits.” It was one of the private rooms Maya often slept in at the station during her long shifts. You’ve been in this room many times before. Often stealing moments in here with Maya when no one else was around.
When she pulled you into the room, you heard the click of the lock. This really was not good. You two alone in a room together wasn’t going to end well. You had to stay strong. You had to keep yourself from falling into her arms. Not until you heard what you needed to hear.
She was rounding on you with such fury in her eyes that it caused you to take a step back. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Maya’s voice was not at all quiet as she took a step forward.
You backed up and she still followed as she seethed. “She was all over you,” Maya snapped. “Practically fucking groping you in my station.”
“Maya—“ you were cut off before you could even go anywhere with that.
“Don’t even start with excuses.”  Maya took a step forward again as you took another back. “I know we’re broken up, but I thought you’d wait at least a little longer before you started fucking someone else.”
“I’m not fucking her,” you finally snapped back. “It’s not like that.”
Maya scoffed at that. She wasn’t buying it for a second. “Well, if you haven’t fucked yet,” Maya took more steps into your space until you were forced to back right up against a wall, “then she certainly intends to soon. Probably tonight even, with how her hands were all over you.”
“You’re being ridiculous!”
“Am I?” Maya was right in your face now. “What did she whisper in your ear, huh?”
“What? Maya— it wasn’t anything.” God, she was testing your patience. “Plus, it’s not any of your business.”
“It is my fucking business,” Maya hissed.
“It’s only your business if we were together, but you ended that.” You were taking low blows now. “Remember?”
This was really testing Maya too. On the one hand, you were absolutely right. On the other, she was still livid that you came into her station and let someone else have their hands on you. “I thought you would come back!”
“Maya, why would I?” Finally, she at least admitted that part of your suspicion. “You told me not to. If you want me to come back so badly then you are the one who has to fix it.”
Maya just stood there in front of you now. Her eyes showed her angry disbelief and you were about fed up with it. Even if it did turn you on just a little.
“I’m going back out there,” you sighed in resignation, trying to take a few calming breaths. “She’s probably wondering what’s going on.” You tried to take a step and push past Maya, but a strong hand wrapped around your wrist halted you.
“I’m sorry,” Maya practically growled. Your eyes went wide at that. That was something you really weren’t expecting to come out of her mouth. Sure, her tone was… aggressive, but you knew that wasn’t ever easy for her to say. “I’m sorry, okay? Is that what you want to hear? I fucked up and I took forever to fix things.”
Well, that was better than nothing, you thought. Maybe later, when this heated moment was over, you could pry a less hostile apology out of her.
Maya wasn’t done though, still enraged about the evening and that she was having to swallow her pride. “But you owe me an apology for flaunting this girl in front of me. You owe me an apology for even looking for other people to fuck. I didn’t do that to you, I was waiting. I—“
“I told you it wasn’t like that.” You really weren’t hiding your frustration in your tone.
“Oh, sure,” Maya snorted.
“Jesus, Maya, it wasn’t,” you yelled. “How could I fuck someone else? How could I even want to when all I think about is you? Not once could I even stomach the thought of someone else touching me like you do. Do you know how hard it was to lay my eyes on you for even a second and not fall on my knees and beg you to fuck me?”
The look in Maya’s eyes shifted at your rant. You knew that look well, it was one that made you squirm where you stood. With pure hunger replacing the anger that was once in her eyes, her hand moved from your wrist to push hard against your shoulder until you were pressed against the wall again.
She took another step and was right up against you. Before you could react to your back hitting the wall, Maya grabbed your chin and pulled your face towards her with her grip.
“Then beg,” She said in a low voice. “Beg me.”
“Maya, is this really the time—“
“I don’t give a fuck,” Maya hissed. “I know you want me to give you what you’ve been missing. I know if I slipped my hand into your panties, you’d be wet. Tell me I’m wrong.”
She wasn’t wrong. Jealous Maya always had you wet. The way she had a hold of your chin and was a breath away from kissing you had quickly broken your resolve by now too. You gulped as Maya’s eyes shifted to your lips before flicking them back up.
“I said,” Maya’s thumb traced your lips now, “beg for me.”
“Yes,” you practically whimpered. “Yes, Maya I want you. I want you to touch me. Fuck, I’ve missed it. Please– I don’t care anymore. Just fuck me.”
“That’s the good girl I’ve been missing.” Maya flashed you a devilish grin before she pulled your face even closer and smashed her lips into yours. The way she kissed you instantly made you melt. Her tongue pushed its way into your mouth before you could even begin to part your lips. You met hers with your own, both of you moaning into the kiss.
Maya’s hands moved to your hair and tugged and pulled as she kissed you with a roughness that you knew would leave your lips a little bruised afterwards. You didn’t care though, not when her tongue was in your mouth and her body was grinding on you and pushing you harder against the wall.
All too soon, Maya pulled away, moving her hand back to your shoulder where she kept you pressed still. “Making me jealous the way you have…” Maya trailed off as she took a few steps back. “You’re going to need to make it up to me.”
You huffed, but didn’t protest. It was far too late for you to turn back now. Honestly, you had forgotten all about the fact that someone out there might wonder what you two are doing or why you’re gone. All you were focused on was Maya and the way she was looking at you.
She craved you. It felt like if she didn’t get what she wanted from you tonight in this very instant, then she’d explode. The possessive part of Maya was also still raging, but not at you now. Just at the idea of someone else touching you, no matter how innocent that touch might seem.
You were going to make it up to her, that she was sure to follow through with. The question was, how did she want you to do that? All she could think to do right now, was fuck you with everything she’s got. She wanted to see you spread open and falling apart underneath her. She wanted to hear you scream her name as she fucked you in a way that only she could. She wanted to make you cum so hard you’d see stars.
There was only one way to do that. Lucky for Maya, because of how often you two snuck away to fool around in here, she was still prepared.
“Strip for me while I get something,” Maya ordered before walking away from you and fishing for something under one of the beds. You gave her a skeptical look for a moment, but still did as you were told. Not yet fully unclothed, you heard Maya pop the buttons open to her uniform. Then as you continued to get undressed, you heard some rustling of clothes, and what you thought sounded like Maya struggling with her belt.
When you heard Maya move to one of the beds, you finally turned around. Your eyes immediately met hers as she sat on the mattress. You started to take her in slowly. She was wearing a tanktop now and you admired the way you could see the muscles of her abdomen through the way it clung to her. You shifted your gaze down after a moment and they fell between her legs. When you registered what exactly you were looking at, your eyes practically bugged out of your skull.
“Maya, why do you have that?” Right between her legs was a rather sizable strap on. Maya just looked at you unphased.
“I’ve had it hidden in here for awhile,” she shrugged. “We just didn’t get the chance to use it… yet.” The “yet” felt very pointed, like she wanted you to know just how badly you had been missing out on all the things she had planned for you. “Now, come here.”
“But what if someone had found that?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Maya huffed, getting frustrated that you weren’t on her lap yet. “Just get on it.”
“What if someone finds it after,” you hesitated again.
“For fuck’s sake!” Maya groaned. “Just shut up and ride my fucking cock.”
As much as Maya’s habit to bark orders at you like you were one of the team pissed you off, you did exactly as you were told. The way she said that made it impossible for you not to. The frustration in her voice and her phrasing definitely made you more wet than you already were. It took you two seconds to reach her with how eager you were for what was to come. When you did, you slowly climbed on top of her until you could angle yourself over her strap. Slowly, your body sunk down onto it.
As Maya watched it disappear inside your pussy, her breathing quickened and she let out a desperate, drawn out “fuckkkk” before her hands grabbed your hips. With just one roll of her body, you felt the head of her strap hit deep inside you couldn’t stop yourself from falling forward onto her.
When she asked you to fuck yourself on her, you had every intention to obey, but then you actually took her cock in. Within an instant you were too wrapped up in actually fitting it inside your tight pussy that fucking yourself with it too felt impossible. Plus, Maya was way too impatient to wait for you to even adjust to its size before she started to fuck it up into you.
She loved the way you bounced with each time she thrust up her hips and pumped her cock into you. It was intoxicating, hearing the moans that fell from your lips and watching your body tense as you took it for her.
“You’re loving this, aren’t you?” Maya taunted as you finally began to move your hips with hers. “I can tell you missed this. Missed me fucking you like the little slut you are.”
All you could do was whimper as you moved your body faster on top of Maya. You felt her arms flex around you, pulling you in tighter. Your body was draped over Maya as you rode her and the only thing keeping you sitting up was Maya’s strong embrace.
“But you’re my little slut,” Maya purred into your ear. “You can deny it all you want, but we both know you’re only ever going to be mine.”
You were speeding up now, desperately rocking your hips into her as fast as you possibly could. Maya met your desperation with just as much force as she kept fucking up into you. Both of you were panting and Maya felt like she could cum just from watching you rut your hips into her to get off.
The way you could feel her muscles flex and tense as she practically used all her strength to keep your hips rocking was making your head swim. She was practically just using you as her toy at this point. You had long lost the rhythm you started out with and now she was just making you fuck yourself on top of her with the sheer strength of her hold on you.
You buried your face into her neck because it was all you could do to muffle your moaning. It seemed like it should be impossible, the speed she was setting for you, but she just kept it going. As your body shook and your teeth sunk into the skin of her neck you heard her moan your name before she twisted around and fell forward onto the mattress, taking you with her.
When your back hit the bed, Maya made quick work to grab both your thighs and hoist them over your shoulders. She was pressing your own knees into your chest, the way she had you bent underneath her.
“Fuck,” She groaned. “You take it so well, baby.” She was fucking you deeper than you honestly thought you could take. The way you could feel her cock hit the exact spot that made you lose your mind was making it harder and harder for you to stay at a reasonable volume.
The thought that everyone in the station could possibly hear you right now as Maya continued to fuck you into the matttress crossed your mind in that moment. You tried your best to move your hand to cover your mouth, but the moment you tried, Maya’s hand flew up and grabbed your wrist. Her other hand came up to grab your free one as well. She slammed both your wrists back down onto the mattress, holding them tightly there as she kept rutting into you.
“Let them hear,” she growled, knowing exactly what your concern was. “Then no one will question who this pussy belongs to.”
“M— fuck, Maya,” you whined. Your eyes slammed shut and your head fell back. All you could do was lay, pinned to the bed, and let Maya keep pumping her strap into you.
The sounds you were making were getting louder, but so were Maya’s. She was groaning and grunting on top of you, fucking her hips into you harder with each thrust. Your body was shaking and your fists clenched in Maya’s hold.
The choice to wear this particular strap was intentional for Maya. It was the one that had the base that hit her clit just right. So with each thrust of her hips into yours and with each time your hips bucked and you tried to fuck yourself on her cock too, she felt it. She felt everything. Now, you were getting close and she could tell, but so was she. The idea of you making her cum while her strap was buried deep inside your pussy was driving her to be a little rougher with you; a little more aggressive.
“You’re gonna cum when I tell you to,” Maya panted as her own orgasm approached. You didn’t react to that, too cock-drunk on her strap to comprehend much else. Maya didn’t slow, but one hand that had a grip of your wrist moved to your chin and jerked your head up. Her eyes met yours and the look she had in them was fierce. “Do you got that?”
“M-mhm!” Maya’s hand squeezed your chin and you realized she wanted a real answer. “Yes— god— Yes, when you tell me to.”
She was satisfied with that, but her hand didn’t let you go. Instead, it slipped down and her fingers wrapped around your throat. There was barely any pressure from her grip onto your neck, just the slightest bit of restriction to your airway. That action alone brought you right to that edge. You didn’t cum yet though; you wanted to be good.
“Fuck, baby, look at you,” Maya moaned. “Gonna make me cum. Would you like that?” Her pace was becoming erratic as she approached her edge too. “Want me to cum with my strap inside you? Bet you do, you fucking love taking it. Fuck, fuck, fuck— cum now. Cum for me!”
And when you did Maya did too. The way she moaned out your name as you cried out hers had your whole body trembling. She pumped her hips into you a few more times as her orgasm ran through her body.
When you had finally come down from your high, she followed soon after. Her body collapsed on top of you and you felt her place soft kisses on your neck.
“Fuckkkk,” She sighed. “That was something. I bet the whole building heard you cum.”
“God,” you groaned, burying your head in the pillow. “Don’t say that.”
“What?” Maya smirked. “Worried that girl might hear?”
“Shut up,” you playfully shoved at her shoulder.
“Well, if she didn’t…” Maya leaned up to whisper in your ear, “then maybe she’ll hear it this time.” Maya’s tone might have been teasing, but you knew she was only half joking. Waiting out this snowstorm would take god knows how long, but Maya planned on fucking you for the rest of it.
And she made good on that plan.

ᕚ---ᕘ
You staggered around the room, completely losing your balance. You got drunk into oblivion on your best friend's birthday and your two girlfriends had to pick you up from the restaurant. As soon as Maya and Carina arrived, they quickly rushed to a private room at the other end of the building to come to your aid. "Bella, are you okay?" The brunette asked worriedly as they saw you leaning against a wall, your cheeks burning red and your eyes bloodshot and glassy.
Maya had immediately jumped to your side, hooking your arm over her shoulder so that she could catch your body and hold it upright before you stumbled and fell unhappily. "Sure thing, pretty. I'm awesome! I swear I can walk straight!" You muttered in an unintelligible slur and started to giggle, but all you got was serious faces, eyes looking at each other in incomprehension.
Using their combined efforts, they tried to gently lower your heavily intoxicated body onto one of the wooden chairs. “Y/n, darling, how much did you drink?” she requested, reaching out physically to lift your head and catch your gaze. You, however, looked back at your fingers, tried to count the shots on them, but failed miserably as they blurred and wavered in front of your eyes. "Um, I think a few more than I should? But hey, you suddenly have four eyes that I can look into, and all of them are beautiful!"
The blonde's hand fell to her forehead, trying to smooth out the wrinkles that had formed on it as she bit her lip. She looked up at Carina, who couldn't resist a gentle chuckle. Maya scuffled her hair and asked herself what you had gotten yourself into. Normally you were never the drinker. “Let’s get you home,” she sighed out loudly and rose from her kneeling position in front of you.
Both Carina and Maya helped you get up and carefully brought you into the car to take you home. During the journey it became quiet around the two of them. While Carina tried to keep the car straight and not swerve too much, it was Maya who turned around every minute to check on you. However, you were caught up in your own daydream, humming shrilly to the tune on the radio as you traced the tears of rain on the window. "Why didn't you call us and let us know? We could have picked you up beforehand. Then maybe you wouldn't have drank so much."
You looked at her with wide eyes, your pupils greatly dilated from drinking alcohol. You tried to remain serious, tried to think of a clever answer for your friend but failed and started laughing instead. "But then I would have denied you this wonderful trip!" This time, Maya and Carina couldn't help but laugh at your rambling, although they remained worried about your condition.
Both women were happy when they unlocked the door to their shared apartment and you were finally back in your own four walls. Up the stairs to the second floor with you in their luggage, the two of them were completely exhausted. While the blonde struggled to get you onto the couch, the brunette grabbed coffee and a blanket to help you get over the alcohol rush and keep you warm.
When she came back with the things, she also got salty crackers to balance your blood sugar levels and avoid side effects. Maya gratefully took the warm drink, handed it to you and supported the glass with one of her hands to avoid any accidents. "Here, drink some of this. It will help."
You nodded perfusively, pulled the glass closer to your face and sniffed it. You immediately wrinkled your nose, grimaced and pulled your head to the side to stop the smell from lingering in your nasal cavities. "That smells like burnt hope and Monday morning! Speaking of which, what kind of day is today?"
"Saturday morning," Carina laughed once more and moved back towards the kitchen while Maya stayed behind with you for a moment. When the Italian woman came with another glass, this time she put it to your lips and let you take a few sips. "This is water, maybe it will help you a little better."
"This tastes like the opposite and not as good as what I had before. Ugh!"
Maya shook her head miserably and began to take off the jacket she was still wearing, all the while standing next to you and making sure you didn't suddenly tip over to the side or fall forward onto the floor. "Maybe we should go easy on your taste buds? I think they've already experienced enough today."
You nodded in agreement, knowing she might be right. There was a short silence in which the two of them joined you on the couch. Carina took your legs on her lap and pulled them close to her middle, hoping that you would slowly relax and become calmer. But suddenly you started singing loudly, the words barely understandable, startling the two women who were tired and just waiting for you to fall asleep.
Shocked at the sudden noise and shrill tones that left your throat, they both looked at each other with wide eyes. The brunette held a hand over her mouth and looked away for a moment before she burst out laughing and couldn't stop herself. With this she also drew Maya under the pure spell of laughter. "Babe, is this your take on karaoke?" The blonde asked, holding her now aching stomach, but you didn't listen to her, got even louder and held your hand to your heart. You swayed on the couch, Carina holding your hand as you tried to sit straight on your shins and sang a tune that resembled the national anthem. "Bambina, I think you could make a new hit out of it if you sang the words a little more clearly!"
You laughed yourself at the incomprehensibility and the mood of the two women became increasingly relaxed. There was barely a shred of concern in their hearts, more happiness that you were doing well and that despite the poison in your blood, you generally made a good impression. "You know, you're probably the most entertaining drunk I know. And I've seen my entire fire team drunk."
Grinning widely, you bowed your upper body to her and punched your chest a few times before kissing the palm of your hand and holding it up in the air. "I take that as a compliment, my wonderful and beautiful Maya Bishop!"
The three of you sat together for a while until you noticed that you were getting more tired and slowly falling asleep. The blonde carefully covered you more tightly with the blanket and spoke to you gently to show you that you were cared for and safe. After the two were sure you had fallen into a deep sleep, they stayed close to you to continue to provide attention and support until you were stable again. Meanwhile, Maya and Carina kept exchanging amused looks.
"Hopefully she learns from this," Maya whispers in a gentle tone and squeezes herself next to Carina, wrapping her in a deep hug. The brunette leaned back, letting herself fall and trying to let the tiredness take its place. "Yes hopefully."
They stayed vigilant through the night to make sure you slept peacefully and didn't fall into a nightmare before deciding to seek some peace near you as well. They clearly deserved it.

Lick U Clean*
Tumblr media
Title: Lick U Clean Pairing: Maya Bishop x Reader Prompt: 99. "You know there wasn't a single thing to eat in the kitchen until you walked in." MINORS DNI, 18+ Warnings: smut, top Maya, bottom reader, oral (f receiving) R WC: 789
Maya huffed as she leaned against the counter. She was absolutely starving, but Y/n had only been leaving the grocery store whenever Maya called. There had been ways to avoid her hunger pains, but Maya had been excited to see Y/n after a week of being apart. Y/n's schedule at the university had been hectic, and once that had ended, Maya had to leave town for a conference. The station was receiving high marks for its functionality, even after becoming the laughing stock of the Seattle Fire Department. Y/n had been upset that she wasn't available to attend, but Maya understood and wouldn't have wanted everybody to see how bashful Y/n made her.
"Okay, so, I couldn't get a few things, but we should be all stocked up for the next week or so. Hopefully you can come with me next time," Y/n said as she brought the bags into the kitchen. Usually, Maya would have been right by her side to help her, but instead she was stuck to her spot. Y/n glanced over her shoulder once all the bags were on the counter to where Maya was standing and staring at her. "Are you going to help me?"
"In a moment, I promise." Maya pushed herself up from where she had been leaning against a countertop to wrap her arms around Y/n's waist and pull her backwards. "You know there wasn't a single thing to eat in the kitchen until you walked in."
"Oh, really?" Y/n asked teasingly. She knew that they'd have to be quick about this, but she was also certain that Maya had been thinking about this for just as long as her. Maya hoisted Y/n up onto the counter and secured herself in between Y/n's legs. Y/n bit her lip as she tried not to moan at the feeling of Maya's hips pressing against hers. She didn't want Maya to know how quickly things could be over. Y/n wanted to prolong the moment between the two of them, even if it was just for a few minutes.
Maya undid the buttons of Y/n's shirt as she pushed it off of Y/n's shoulders. Oversized flannels were a staple to Seattle culture according to Y/n, but Maya was pretty sure that Y/n only really wore them out to get away with not wearing a bra. Maya wouldn't complain about that little detail though. Instead, she groped both of Y/n's breasts and teased Y/n's nipples with her fingers. They stiffened beneath her touch, and Y/n wasn't able to hide those moans and gasps from Maya.
"I love it when you get turned on like this," Maya muttered as she kissed a path down Y/n's stomach. Y/n's skin was flushed, and her breathing was already starting to become uneven. Maya tugged at Y/n's shorts and underwear, managing to get both of them down Y/n's legs in one move. There was a moment of pause before Maya moved back in between Y/n's legs. Y/n wrapped her legs around Maya's waist as she pulled Maya in for a kiss. Maya leaned into the kiss, forcing Y/n to lean backwards until her back was against the marble countertop. Y/n unlinked her ankles to let Maya step back and kneel down in between her thighs.
Maya placed her hands on the insides of Y/n's thighs, gently rubbing little circles where she knew Y/n was most sensitive. A feather-light and slow kiss was placed on Y/n's center. Maya's resolve to take things slowly dissolved the moment that she tasted Y/n's arousal. Maya lapped hungrily at Y/n's cunt, as if she was trying to gather each drop so it didn't go to waste. Y/n threaded her fingers in Maya's hair and pulled the blonde's head up so that Maya' tongue could focus on her clit. Maya could have stayed completely still and let Y/n grind herself to completion, but Maya preferred to have an active role in her partner's pleasure. She worked with the gyrations of Y/n's hips to time things perfectly.
Y/n came quickly and with Maya's name being screamed from the top of her lungs. Maya's chest swelled with pride as she stood up and helped Y/n off of the counter. She placed the flannel back over Y/n's shoulders as she ushered her out of the kitchen. Y/n laid on the couch wrapped up in her shirt and a blanket while Maya put away the groceries and returned to her with a small snack for the two of them to share.

5 times Maya Bishop tries to confess she's in love with you, and the one time she actually does please?
mayaaaaa my love
the only one
1.
“Hey,” Maya smiles at you sweetly. “What are you doing right now?”
The two of you were the only ones in the station right now because everyone had been called onto a call, so you were doing your chores while Maya was on desk duty.
“Just finished cleaning the table,” You look towards the dining room table, as you slowly move towards the kitchen to clean the counters off. “I’m about to start on the kitchen. What do you need?”
“Do you want to play on the pole?” Maya lifts her brows excitedly. “Come on, It’ll be fun.”
“I’m—“
“Come on!” Maya leans towards you with pleading eyes.
You sigh, giving in to her eyes. “Fine. Only for a few minutes.”
You place the sponge on the kitchen island, and then your hand is in Maya’s. You’re being pulled down the hall until you’re on the overlook above the barn, standing on the platform above the pole.
“Ready?” Maya places her hands on the pole and looks back at you before jumping.
“You know if Andy sees us, she’s gonna kill us!” You yell down to the ground. “And you know I’m afraid of heights.”
“Then why are you a firefighter?” Maya places her hands on her hips, looking up at you from the ground.
“I don’t know,” You shrug.
“I’ll catch you if you fall, I promise,” Maya moves a little closer to the pole. “Come on, you’ve done this before.”
“Okay. Here I come.”
You slide down the pole, thankful you’re wearing pants, but you’d definitely have a burn on your thighs after that.
When you land, Maya has her hands on your hips to stabilize you.
“See? I got you,” Maya skims your face.
“Yes you do,” You laugh.
“Hey. Can I tell you something?”
“Sure!” You nod, opening your mouth to
speak again, you’re cut off by the sound of a horn.
The two of you look out the garage door and see the firetrucks pulling into the garage.
“We’ll talk later. Andy said that they were stopping at the kitchen after, so I better go finish cleaning the counters.”
“Okay. Yeah,” Maya nods disappointedly.
2.
You went out with the team after a particularly hard shift. Most of your calls were surrounded by children, and everyone knew it hurt you on a personal level.
The group and you had a specific table they always went to, because it would fit all of you, so that’s where they went tonight as well.
As you’re getting settled in, everyone decides what they want to drink (mostly beers) and so Maya offers to get the first round.
“Y/n, wanna help me carry them back?” She asks as she removes her coat.
“Sure,” You clear your throat, standing to walk over to her.
Maya places a hand on the small of your back, and you’d be lying if you said it didn’t make you feel so much more better. If you asked her why she did it, she would’ve said there were too many men in the bar.
“You okay?” Maya frowns as she leads the two of you to the bar.
You shrug while Maya orders the beers.
“I’m okay. You know how I am about the kids. And.. the Crisis One calls don’t help me any.”
“I know,” Mayas face held a soft expression, and you loved her for it.
“I hate it on there,” You lean against the bar. “Andy must hate me, because it feels like I’m on Crisis One everyday.”
“You know that’s not true,” She tilts her head sadly. “But we can talk to her about taking you off the Crisis One schedule for a few weeks.”
“Thank you,” You chuckle slightly, leaning your forehead on her shoulder. “I really mean it. You’re the sweetest.”
“Of course,” She smiles. “Hey, could we maybe talk about something?”
“Yeah,” You lift your head. “We can talk soon though, because our beers are here, and it might be better if we talk in a quieter setting.”
Maya nods, grabs a few beers, and walks back to the table with you.
3.
You pull your shirt over your head, in no big rush to get back to your apartment and your lone dog.
Most nights it was lonely, and no one offered to go out anywhere, so you were in no hurry to get home. You’d probably get dinner or something on the way home, then pass out on the couch.
“Where are you going after this?” Maya asked, her back turned to you as she removed her shirt.
“Home,” You laugh, removing your pants. “Back to the dog and my lonely apartment.”
“Wanna grab a bite to eat?” Maya turns her head, trying her best to keep her eyes on the side of your face and not your legs.
“Yes!” You turn excitedly, seeing Maya was already staring at you. “I’m sorry.. it’s just that I was really hoping someone would say that because I do not want to go home right now.”
“Perfect,” Maya lifts her chin. “There’s a small cafe I’ve been wanting to try. It’s halfway between our apartments, so it won’t cause us any grief.”
“Good,” You nod, now trying to finish changing faster than before. “I really just want a good cup of coffee and some greasy food.”
Maya zips her jeans, “Mm yes. A burger and fries sounds so good right now.”
You turn to face to Maya, now fully changed. “Tell me about it.”
Maya laughs humorously, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” You grab your bag, moving to exit the room. “I’ll wait for you out here.”
Maya presses her lips together, her mood suddenly changing.
“Not the way I love you,” Maya says under her breath, slamming her locker door closed.
4.
“I am so hungry,” You groan as you rush into the kitchen.
“Oh?” Victoria lifts her brows. “What are you hungry for? I can get Travis in here to make us something.”
“I kind of want..” Maya trails off, catching your gaze from across the room.
“Spaghetti,” You and Maya say at the same time.
“Oo yes,” Victoria claps her hands together. “I will tell him right away. Because if I try to make it, we might be putting a fire out here.”
You chuckle, “Oh yeah, same.”
“Be right back,” Victoria runs down the hall excitedly.
“You know how to clear a room,” Maya jokes from the table.
You roll your eyes, coming to sit across from Maya.
“I haven’t seen you all day,” You rest your arms on the wood table.
“Well, you are on Aid Car today,” Maya says.
“Yeah..” You nod. “But at least it’s with someone I like.”
“Yeah. What’s not to like about Jack?”
“A lot,” You joke. “No I’m just kidding. He’s been a perfect gentleman.”
“That’s good,” Maya lets out a breathy laugh. “Hey so.. there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”
“I’m all ears,” You lean forward.
“I have—“
“Here we come!” Victoria yells, dragging Travis behind her.
“Hold on,” Travis gasps, leaning over in hopes that he can get some air into his lungs. “Why am I here? Victoria was talking too fast.”
“You need to make us spaghetti,” Maya explains.
You look towards her and see her upset face, and make a note to ask her about it later.
5.
Somehow you got roped into helping with another training seminar. Every time either Andy or Victoria somehow got you signed up to help for the class.
This time it was a self defense class, which you had to admit wasn’t the worst of them, but you still didn’t like going to them, let alone teaching them.
You were praying you had someone who knew what they were doing to help teach with you, and apparently someone was on your side today, because Maya was preparing for the class when you got there.
“I must be late,” Your eyebrows drew together awkwardly.
“It’s okay. We were just starting,” Maya shrugs. “I’m Maya Bishop, and this is Y/n L/n. We’re going to teach you some basic self defense today.”
You nod along with everything Maya says, and suddenly you’re being flipped to the ground.
“Oo,” You groan in pain, ignoring the giggles from the teenagers.
“You should be paying attention,” Maya narrows her eyes down at you, offering a hand for you to take so you can lift yourself.
“I know. I didn’t get much sleep last night.”
“Let’s get them set up on an exercise and we can talk. Okay?”
“Sounds good,” You dust your butt off.
You and Maya instruct them on what to do, and she pulls you off to the side so the two of you can talk.
“What’s been bothering you?” She takes a sip of water from the bottle she has sitting off on the table.
“I don’t know,” You lie.
But you did know. You’ve had oncoming feelings for Maya, and they were there now, more than ever. You wanted to tell her, but you were terrified she wouldn’t reciprocate them.
“The dog’s kind of sick,” You look to the ground. “She’s been throwing up.”
That part wasn’t a lie.
“Maybe you should take her to the vet.”
“Yeah, I’m going to tomorrow. It’s my day off,” You bite the inside of your cheek, debating on whether to invite her or not since she was off as well.
“I’m off tomorrow too,” Maya puts her bottle down on the table. “I’ll come too. She’s a big dog. You’ll need help.”
“Thank you!” You smiled wide. “That would be very helpful.”
“Of course. I love you and Missy.”
You tilt your head, and look away, wishing she really meant it.
+1
Maya’s heart was beating out of her chest. It felt like she was going to have a heart attack, and she may as well be. The heartbreak would be all the same to her.
She has to stand back as Andy and Travis work to get you stabilized.
You were working to get some civilians out of their apartment as the ceiling fell down on you. The people managed to get out, but you hadn’t.
Maya ran in to save you, but after she did so, Andy made her stand back. She was a conflict of interest.
Victoria places a gentle hand on Maya’s shoulder as she paces, and Maya throws herself into Victoria’s hold.
No one has ever seen Maya in such a state. Everyone knew of her crush on you, and they were half excited that she was finally going to admit, but they were terrified that you wouldn’t pull through and that all of this happened.
Victoria holds Maya as you slowly wake.
“Ow,” You croak, and Maya is out of Victoria’s hold in a heartbeat. Everyone around you laugh at your reaction.
Maya dives to the ground, pulling you up into her arms, wrapping you in a bone crushing hug.
“Maya—“
“Don’t ever do that again,” Maya berates. “I was so scared.”
“I’m sorry—“
“No. I love you,” Maya lowers you so she could see your face. “And not like a friend, because that’s what you seem to think when I say those three words. I mean more than a friend, Y/n. Ever since your first day here. Even though I acted like I hated you. I really just wanted you to go out with me.”
“Maya.. I didn’t know.”
“I know,” Maya nods. “And I know that I just ruined one of my best friendships ever, but.. it’s worth it if you know. I’d rather you know, and hate me, than you not know.”
“Maya. Shut up,” You shake your head. “And here I thought I was the only one.”
“What—“
Maya is cut off as you press your lips to hers.
Everyone around you claps, and whoops, and you couldn’t care less about your pain, because you finally got what you wanted.

They’ll dare each other to be the first one to ask you out

They ended up asking you on the same day at different times, so you had to tell both of them you’d think about it
Once you started dating them, they’ll take turns driving you to work
Both of them are very protective girlfriends, and will not allow you to do anything that even sounds dangerous
You and Carina worry about Maya whenever she heads out to a call
You need to plan out dates so that your shifts don’t conflict with each other

diabetic
Dr. Elena Rodriguez was in the midst of a whirlwind since she started dating Maya Bishop and Carina DeLuca. Their connection was intense and passionate, but they were still in the early stages of their relationship. Elena had been keeping a significant secret from her new partners—she was diabetic. She'd hidden it carefully but as they spent more time together, it got harder to conceal.
They worked together at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and their personal lives were intertwined. Keeping her diabetes a secret was becoming increasingly challenging, especially during shared meals and late-night chats. Elena's blood sugar levels would often play tricks on her, leaving her feeling unwell, but she had become a pro at hiding it. One evening, after a particularly long day at the hospital, Elena joined Maya and Carina for dinner at their place. She'd been unusually tired all day but brushed it off, not wanting to burden her partners with her health issues. As they sat down to eat, Elena's hands shook a bit, and her vision blurred for a moment.
Maya noticed Elena's unease and exchanged a concerned look with Carina. They'd both noticed that something wasn't right with Elena, but neither wanted to pry.
"Elena, are you okay?" Carina asked gently.
Elena tried to put on a brave face with a weak smile. "I'm fine, really."
But her voice wavered, and her hands trembled as she attempted to eat. Carina reached out to touch Elena's hand, her concern deepening.
"Elena, you don't look fine," Maya added, her worry evident.
Elena's resistance began to crumble as she realized how much her condition was affecting her partners. She took a deep breath and decided it was time to spill the beans. "Okay, okay, I need to tell you something."
Maya and Carina exchanged a worried look before giving Elena their full attention.
"I have diabetes," Elena confessed, her voice filled with vulnerability. "I've been trying to hide it from you both, but I can't anymore. I've been managing it, but today, it's really acting up." Maya and Carina felt a mix of emotions—concern for Elena's health and relief that she had finally shared her secret. They immediately jumped into action, offering their support. "Let's check your blood sugar," Maya said, grabbing a testing kit.
Carina held Elena's hand reassuringly. "We're here for you, Elena. Thank you for sharing this with us."
As Maya returned with the testing kit and helped Elena check her blood sugar levels, they discovered they were dangerously high. It was clear that Elena needed insulin, and she couldn't delay it any longer.
Maya and Carina exchanged a determined look, then gently but firmly guided Elena to the couch in the living room. “My medication is in my lunchbox. I can get it myself-”
“No. Stay here, we’ll take care of you.” Maya quickly shut down the thought as she sat on the table facing Elena and Carina quickly left and came back with the lunchbox pulling out the medication and setting the correct dose.
With Elena's consent, they administered the insulin, their hands working together seamlessly.
Elena felt a profound sense of gratitude and vulnerability as she let Maya and Carina take care of her. The experience brought them closer, deepening their bond and revealing the strength of their newfound love and support for one another. It was a bit uncomfortable but Elena bet it was because she hasn’t had people to lean on before so this was very new territory.
As they finished administering the insulin, Maya and Carina looked at each other, concern etched on their faces.
"Elena, do you have a diabetes management app on your phone?" Maya asked gently.
Elena hesitated, her reluctance apparent. "I do, but I've been managing just fine on my own."
Carina, her love for Elena evident in her eyes, spoke softly. "We understand that you're strong and independent, Elena. But sharing this app with us would help us support you better, especially in emergencies."
Maya added, "It's not about control; it's about being there for each other."
Elena's defenses softened as she realized the validity of their points. She didn't want to fight with them, and deep down, she knew that they were offering their support out of love and concern.
With a sigh of surrender, Elena nodded. "Okay, I'll share the app with you both. But promise me, this won't change anything between us."
After their pivotal moment of sharing Elena's secret, the room was filled with a comfortable silence, broken only by the soft hum of the night outside.
Carina, ever the nurturing presence, leaned in and said with a playful smirk, "Well, Elena, you've been keeping quite a secret, haven't you?"
Elena chuckled, her eyes sparkling with a mix of emotions. "Yeah, I have. I'm sorry for not sharing it sooner."
Maya's fingers traced abstract patterns on Elena's arm, her voice laced with genuine understanding. "Elena, we all have our secrets. What matters is that we're here for each other." Carina nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We're a team, through thick and thin."
Elena felt a sense of warmth and belonging wash over her. "Thank you, both of you."
As the night wore on, they decided to move to the kitchen, not only to change the setting but also to satisfy their late-night cravings. The aroma of brewing coffee filled the air as they worked together, each taking on a task.
Maya handed Elena a piece of fruit, her eyes locking onto Elena's with a smoldering intensity. "You know, Elena, there's something incredibly attractive about your strength and vulnerability."
Elena's cheeks flushed, a shy smile playing on her lips. "Maya, you always know how to say the sweetest things."
Carina, in her usual assertive manner, leaned in and captured Elena's lips in a passionate kiss. It was a kiss filled with longing, a silent promise of the desire that simmered between them. "Elena, we want you—all of you."
Their desires were no longer hidden beneath the surface, but instead of a passionate frenzy, their actions were deliberate, filled with a deep understanding of the moment. Their touches were gentle yet charged with the promise of intimacy.
Elena's voice quivered as she whispered, "I want both of you too."
Maya's fingers traced a path along Elena's arm, igniting a trail of goosebumps. "Let's explore this together, at our own pace."
Carina leaned in, her lips brushing against Elena's earlobe, sending shivers down her spine. "No rush, no expectations, just us."
As the night deepened, they moved to the bedroom, the air heavy with desire and anticipation. Elena felt a profound sense of trust and love, knowing that they were embarking on a unique journey together—one that was not bound by clichés but fueled by their genuine connection and affection.
In the quiet moments that followed, their shared laughter and whispered confessions filled the room, creating an intimate tapestry of love and longing. They were ready to embrace the unknown, united by their love and the promise of a future filled with unique experiences and genuine emotions.

Hi, Captain
Tumblr media
Maya Bishop x Fem!Reader
First Maya Bishop Fic!
I got this idea from a tiktok I saw yesterday, and immediately thought of writing this.
Let me know what you think!
-grey
———
Maya and Andy arrived at an apartment building in the city. They were driving around in the aid car and were the closest to the location, so they were assigned to the case. They walked in to the lobby, walking up to the front desk.
“Hi, we got a non-emergency call at this location. Do you know who called?” Andy asked, looking around for anyone who could’ve needed help.
“That would be me.” You said, rolling your wheelchair closer to the two.
“Hey. I’m Captain Bishop and that’s Lieutenant Herrera. What seems to be the problem.”
“Oh, wow. They sent the big bosses. Uh, well sorry for calling, I just didn’t know what to do, but I just got back from a trip and the elevator is out of order and as you can see, stairs isn’t an option for me alone.”
“What floor are you on ma’am?”
“Just call me Y/N, no need to be formal, and it’s a long way up. I’m on the twenty-eighth floor.”
“Then you can just call me Maya.” She turns to look at Andy. “How do you wanna do this?”
“One of us can carry her and the other carries the chair?”
“Would you be comfortable with one of us carrying you?”
“As long as I get to my floor then I’d be fine with it.”
Now here you are, on the tenth floor, Maya carrying you on your back, Andy following behind with your chair.
“How are you doing Captain? Still going strong?”
“We trained for this, so I’m doing alright for now.”
“What about you back there?” You ask Andy, holding your arm tighter around Maya’s neck to look at Andy.
“I’m doing fine. Your chair is surprisingly very light.”
Eighteen floors later, Maya sets you down in your chair where you roll yourself to your door, the two firefighters following closely behind.
“Welcome to my humble abode. Would you like something to drink? Water, or a sports drink for some electrolytes? I’ll just give you guys both.”
“This is a very cozy place you for here.”
“It is. I’ve only just recently moved in a couple months ago.” Wheeling over to where they stand, looking out the windows, you hand them their drinks. “I can’t thank you both enough.”
“It’s no problem at all. But how are you gonna get back down?” Andy downs all her water.
“Don’t worry, they’ll have it done by tomorrow night. I have nowhere else to go before then.”
“We have to go, but it was great meeting you.”
“It was great meeting you too, Captain.”
———
Rolling your chair to the front of Station 19, you ring the doorbell. Seconds later, the door opens to a male firefighter.
“Hi, how can I help you?”
“Good morning. I was just wondering if Lieutenant Herrera and Captain Bishop are here?”
“Can I know what you need them for?”
“They helped me out yesterday with getting up to my apartment, so I thought I’d thank them properly with some homemade goodies.” You at, pointing to your lap that had one big box and two smaller boxes.
“They’re currently out in a call, but should be back soon. Why don’t you come in and wait inside.”
He holds the door open so you can roll yourself inside.
“Oh! This box here on the bottom is actually for all the firefighters. I didn’t wanna bring some goodies and leave everyone else out. Could you grab the Mr…”
He grabs the bottom box when you lift the other two off.
“Uh, Montgomery. But just call me Travis.”
“Okay, Travis. You can call me Y/N.”
“I’ll just bring this upstairs and be right back.”
———
Maya and the rest of the team file out of the fire truck, taking their heavy gear off, each doing their own thing. As she walks towards her office, she sees someone familiar.
“Y/N! What a surprise. What are you doing here?”
“Hi, Captain—”
“—Maya, please.” She interrupts you.
“Well, Maya, I just wanted to stop by to thank you and Andy properly. I’ve just—”
“Hey! Who’s this?” You’re interrupted once again, this time by the whole team walking in.
“Y/N! Hi.”
“Hi, Andy. I was just telling Maya I wanted to thank you both for yesterday and made some baked goodies.” You said, handing them a box each. “There’s a bigger box of them for the rest of the team that Travis brought upstairs.”
“Baked goodies?” Vic asked very excitedly, running up the stairs, other on her tow. “You’re the best!” She yelled out, followed by other ‘thank you’s’ from the team.
“Thank you Y/N.” Andy followed the others.
You and Maya were now left alone downstairs.
“Would you join me in my office? I’d like to ask you something.”
“Lead the way.”
Holding the door open, she lets you enter first, closing it behind her.
“I don’t know if this is unprofessional since I am currently on the job, but I wanted to know if you’d like to go on a date with me sometime? Hopefully tonight?” After not hearing an answer right away, Maya grew nervous. “Or, not. It- it’s okay, probably a stupid idea…”
As she’s nervously rambling, she doesn’t notice you staring amusingly at her with a smile. Deciding to put her out of her misery, you interrupt her.
“Maya!” She looks at you with wide eyes. “I would love to go on a date with you.”
“Great!” She clears her throat. “Uh, cool, cool, cool. That’s awesome. I’ll text you.” She opens her office door going out, then opening the front firehouse door, you following after her. “I will text you.”
“You would need my number for that.” You smirked.
“Right! Right. Uh, here.” She hands you her phone, hands a little shaky. “Could you put your number in. Thanks.”
Handing her phone back to her. “I’ll see you later Captain.” You said with a teasing smile, exiting the station to your car.
“See you later indeed.”

Feel free to ignore but if you feel like would you consider writing being in a relationship with Maya and Carina. Reader is a detective / cop , just the whole dynamic would be interesting I think.
Dating Maya Bishop & Carina DeLuca Would Include . . .
Tumblr media
(I made Reader an FBI Agent partly b/c I love Criminal Minds, hope that’s alright)
You guys are such a power couple. Carina as an OB/GYN Attending, Maya has a Lieutenant of Station 19 (she should be Captain tho), and you as an FBI Agent
Unfortunately with your important jobs, it’s hard to see a lot of each other
It’s definitely made your relationship a little more difficult, but you all love each other so much, and you put in the work
Carina and Maya are always worried about you when you’re on your FBI missions and often won’t be able to rest unless they get a text from you
When you come home from your missions, Maya and Carina are always there for you no matter what
They’ll always insist on Carina checking you out for any injuries, no matter how small
They also let you vent and talk about the case, often encouraging you to let it out
And even if you don’t get any injuries, Maya and Carina insist on you taking at least a day to rest
I think Maya would definitely cuddle with you like a koala would, arms and legs wrapped around you
Meanwhile Carina would have you laying against her chest, her arms wrapped around you and your legs tangled together
When it’s the three of you, you take turns being in the middle
After missions, you are. After hard shifts at the station, it’s Maya. And after had shifts at the hospital, it’s Carina
Maya and Carina will listen to you ramble about psychology and such for hours. They adore how into it you get
You also can’t help but profile them — oops
And they think you are so hot when you’re training/fighting
Maya will hold you while Carina tends to any injuries, cooing about how great you’re doing
You often take baths when coming home from missions and Maya and Carina insist on at least one of them checking in on you after you fell asleep in there multiple times (but they also think it’s very cute)
Maya and Carina are always texting your coworkers to see if you’ve been overworking yourselves
You all have little ways of getting each other to relax
More often than not, you’re hunched over case files. Carina will start massaging your neck, shoulders, or back while Maya will cup your cheek or your head and close your laptop
They’re most effective when they tag team, though
Maya and Carina are really in sync, so they’re often tag teaming you anyway
They absolutely adore how you turn to putty and melt. It’s the cutest thing ever!
If you ever have nightmares about cases, Maya and Carina will both hold you and assure you that you’re safe and that they’ll protect you no matter what (you and Carina do the same when Maya has nightmares)
You and Maya also try to learn Italian together and Carina adores it (she also teases you)
If anything more serious ever happens to you, Maya and Carina are always the first ones there
With how busy your schedules are, you make a promise to each other to always take time off to spend and devote to each other
You and Andrew would also be good friends because he’d think it’s so cool that you’re an FBI agent
You three also love to watch each other work because all of you are so amazing in what you do
Whenever Maya gets jealous that Carina’s around women all day, you’re there to distract her with hugs and kisses
There are definitely some conflicts and arguments, but your love for each other conquers all

We care about you
Tumblr media
Maya x Carina x reader (Amelia is reader’s bff)
Prompt: Reader has a car crash with Carina’s car and she feels so guilty that she refuses to go to the hospital and it’s not the best choice.
TW: car crash, seizure
When you open your eyes, your first thought does not go to the probable concussion you gave yourself, nor to the poor light pole you knocked down. No, your concern becomes the car: the Carina's very expensive and beautiful Porsche that you have just crumpled against a stupid pole that you could very well have avoided, had the road not been wet. Your thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the driver's door, yours, suddenly opening.
"Miss, miss can you hear me? Y/n?"
Vic's face appears in front of you, and as soon as he notices it's you, her gaze changes from a calm and placid one to one quite panicked.
"Are you okay? Do you want me to call Maya and Carina?"
Vic unbuckles your belt, intimating you to stay still while she checks you over. She feels your legs, asking if you can feel them. You nod. By the feel of the pain in your ribs, you probably have one or two cracked if not broken ribs, blood is pouring out of your nose since the airbag exploded in your face, and most likely the deep cut on your forehead indicates a more serious concussion than you would have liked but you don't care. The only thing you care about is the car, and right now you really have no other concerns besides.
"Were other people involved?"
"No, just a poor pole. But I don't think it will complain. We need to get you to Grey's Sloan. Montgomery, Warren! Give me a hand, we-"
"No."
Relief floods you as soon as Vic confirms that no one else besides you was involved in the accident. You know full well that it could have been worse, yet you refuse to go to the hospital, you won't let anyone waste time because of your stupid mistake. Carina's car...you destroyed it, the Italian loves that car and you literally crumpled it for her.
"Y/n, you know you have to go to the hospital. Maya and Carina would kill me if they knew I didn't take you to the hospital...please don't make me carry you or call them."
You shake your head, immediately regretting it as soon as you do when a twinge in your head makes you squint in pain.
"No, Carina is going to kill me as soon as she sees what I've done to her car..Vic, you don't understand. She loves this car more than anything, she went to pick it out with Andrew as soon as she got to Seattle-" a sob involuntarily escapes your mouth as your body is shaken as more follow. Tears line your cheeks and though you want to stop them, you really don't have the strength.
"Y/n, Carina loves you more than a stupid car...she won't care if-"
"No Vic, you don't understand, I don't want to go to the hospital, please, please, I can't look at Carina and tell her that I destroyed one of the things that reminded her of her brother. Please Vic, take me home, don't take me to Grey's Sloan. Please."
You plead with her and see her struggling internally with herself, even turning a glance over her shoulder where Ben and Travis, having heard it all, are struggling in the same dilemma as she is. Then, Vic shakes his head and you decide that you have just chosen which battle to fight, at least for the next few minutes.
"I'm sorry y/n but we need to get you checked out and Grey's Sloan is the closest. I'm really sorry."
You shake your head, tears continue copiously to line your face, and the adrenaline slowly begins to fade, making your head feel lighter and your chest feel heavier.
"No Vic, this is not your choice. I am conscious and aware of my actions, legally you have no right to transport me anywhere unless I have harmed other people."
You use your best lawyerly tone, the same tone you use in the courtroom and see them exchange a look and then nod.
"You're right, legally we can't force you but we can call Maya and Carina, y/n."
You grit your teeth; this was an option you had not calculated but, instead, you come up with an idea that is better than the others and will probably save you from going to the hospital. As they say, if Muhammad does not go to the mountain then the mountain will go to Muhammad.
....................................................................................................................
"Thank you for coming."
Amelia shakes her head, a look of disapproval quite legible on her face.
"Well, when your best friend as well as roommate for a good six years of college calls you and tells you she's been in an accident, it's hard not to check in on her."
You smile at her, and before you can try to speak, she's asking you rapid-fire questions.
"Have you lost consciousness? Have you had any dizziness? Altered vision?"
Amelia pulls a small light from the breast pocket of the lab coat she is still wearing before pointing it in your eyes.
"I'm fine," you close your eyes, instinctively turning away from that blinding light.
"Mm yeah, no. You're not all right. Now be still and stop saying you're fine."
Amelia holds your head still, probing multiple places for some kind of bump and glancing at the gash on your forehead.
"This cut needs stitches and you need a CT scan. Oh and you still haven't answered my questions, don't think I forgot."
When Vic notices that you don't answer, she does it for you.
"When we arrived she was unconscious and was unconscious for about three minutes while we were there and soon after she recovered she had trouble recognizing me so I wouldn't rule out visual changes."
Ladies and gentlemen, the traitorous bastard Victoria Hughes.
"Hospital, now. No discussion. I remind you that between the two of us, I am the doctor and also one of the best."
You sigh, shaking your head a few times or at least trying to, as Amelia holds you firmly in place.
"I don't even think about it Amelia, not-"
You stop suddenly, a high-pitched ringing in your ears not allowing you to hear whatever Amelia is saying and then, your pupils rotate back and your body is suddenly shaken by convulsions and everything goes dark.
....................................................................................................................
It is Amelia who takes you to the hospital, with Warren by your side as they check your vitals all the way to Grey's Sloan while Vic and Travis brush all speed limits in order to get their captain's girlfriend and great friend to the hospital as quickly as possible.
After administering Diazepam, fortunately the seizures have stopped and Amelia is squeezing your hand, as if to let you know she is with you.
"Everything will be fine, stay with me y/n. It's all right okay? It's all right. I'm here, I'm here with you."
In less than five minutes, your unconscious body is quickly brought through the doors of the emergency room at Grey's Sloan.
"Female, 25 years old, car accident. Unconscious for three minutes, probable head injury. She had a seizure episode before entering the ambulance; diazepam was administered. She has been stable ever since."
Vic says, before leaving you in the hands of Dr. Teddy Altman, who rolls her eyes as soon as she recognizes the woman lying on the stretcher.
"Y/n? Do Amelia, Maya, and Carina know?"
The neurosurgeon sighs, shaking her head and slipping on gloves and a sterile gown to carefully examine how severe your head injury is.
"Damn it, Schmitt, call Dr. DeLuca. Warren, alert your captain. I can't believe you guys didn't say anything, those two will kill you."
Warren swallows before nodding and pulling out his phone.
"What was I supposed to do? This idiot didn't want to and I remind you she's a lawyer, she knows her rights very well. We need to do a CT scan on her, Schmitt did you reserve the room?"
"Y-yes Dr. Shepard and Dr. DeLuca is coming. I told her that her partner had been in a car accident but I didn't have time to tell her that she was okay that she had already shut me down."
Teddy pinches her nose between her index finger and thumb, sighing in exasperation.
"Schmitt, did you even check that she wasn't operating?"
The resident looks at her embarrassed before shaking his head.
"No ma'am, I-"
The boy doesn't have time to finish the sentence that a worried Italian doctor enters the emergency room, nearly bursting through the doors.
"Where is she? Is she okay? Teddy tell me she is fine-"
The Italian woman suddenly stops, noticing only then your pale, unconscious body on the crib in front of the two doctors and the resident.
Caria quickly approaches you, stroking your forehead and being careful not to graze the cut before turning to Amelia as they move to the exam room to have you scanned. "What happened?"
Although she is addressing the neurosurgeon, her eyes do not leave your figure, and her hand does not detach from yours.
"She lost control of the car and drove into a light pole, the airbags deployed, which caused her to have a massive nosebleed, and a head injury. She had a seizure episode before we brought her in."
Carina gasps as she hears the last sentence.
"Has she woken up since then?"
"No."
The Italian closes her eyes, aware that this is not a good sign and praying that you have not suffered more damage than she initially expected.
As they prepare you for the CT scan, Amelia and Carina being the only ones in the room, Carina decides to ask Amelia one of the questions that came to her mind as soon as she noticed the neurosurgeon standing next to you, slightly sweaty in the face and aware of all the information from your journey from the accident site to the hospital.
"Why were you with her in the ambulance?"
"She called me; she was afraid you would be upset about the car and didn't even want to go to the hospital. She said she would report us if we took her, I doubt she would have done that and I would have done it anyway but you know, Vic and Warren weren't too keen on taking the risk. And then he called me so that they wouldn't take her to the hospital and they wouldn't call you or Maya."
Carina shakes her head as she and Amelia tuck you inside the machine, before exiting the room.
"You idiot, I don't care about the car. All I care about is that she's okay."
"I know Carina, I tried to reason with her and then...well, she had the fit. It will be fine Carina, she is a fighter. She will come back to you. She loves you too much to leave you."
Carina nods, chasing back tears as she looks at the monitors in front of her, waiting for the results of your CT scan.
The Italian gasps as she feels two powerful arms embrace her and hold her close.
"It will be okay love, Warren told me what happened. She will be fine, otherwise how could we give her a good telling off for how much she was considered?"
Maya kisses her wife's shoulder, also looking at the monitors despite not understanding anything written on them. They both sigh, looking at Amelia waiting for good news.
...........................................................................................
When you open your eyes, for the second time that day, you realize you've fucked up again. The cold white walls of the hospital room you are in are proof of that. You try to move your head to the side, to look around, but a twinge in your neck puts you off. You recognize Maya's warm grip in your right hand and the Italian's wavy hair caressing your stomach as the latter sleeps peacefully.
You give the fireman's hand a squeeze and a gentle caress to the Italian's face. Carina wakes up, crinkling her eyes and looking at you surprised, happy and worried at the same time.
"Bella, how are you feeling? Are you okay? I'll call Amelia..."
Carina speaks frantically, not even realizing she is speaking in Italian, and as she reaches toward the button to call the nurses, to the right of your bed, you fuss her wrist, turning a smile to her.
"I'm fine and before you call anyone else I...I have to tell you how sorry I am Carina. I'm so fucking sorry. I know how much you cared about that car and I'm so sorry, I wanted to try to fix it before you knew it...although I don't know if it can be fixed and-"
Carina hears the beeping sound getting louder and louder; she turns to the monitors and when she sees how fast you are breathing and your heart rate, she knows you are having a panic attack.
"Bella, love, it's okay. It's okay love, I'm not mad. I don't care about a stupid car, Andrea will always stay in my heart; I care about you, Bella. The car will buy back but you worth more than anything, do you understand?"
You keep breathing fast; the throbbing pain in your head does not allow you to think clearly, and unfortunately, Carina's words come to you so muffled that they have no effect on you.
The chaos around you makes Maya suddenly wake up; it takes the blond firefighter a few seconds to figure out what is going on and to join his wife in trying to drag you out of the panic attack.
The blond climbs onto the bed, sitting right behind you and holding you in her arms despite you trying with all your might to free yourself. Carina, on the other hand, kneels in front of you, taking your hands in her own.
"It's okay love, it's okay. Breathe, listen to my heartbeat" Maya whispers in your ear, leaving a kiss on your cheek.
"Follow my breath Bella; that's it, good, keep it up."
In less than ten minutes, the incessant sound that resonated in the hospital room is replaced by a soft, steady BIP. Your chest hurts and you rub it hard, to ease your pain, before a hand forces you to stop.
"Hey, hey, you're going to hurt yourself if you keep this up. Do you want me to call a nurse to give you something?"
You nod, closing your eyes and waiting for the nurse to arrive. Carina reaches out to press the button before immediately returning to hold your hands. Maya continues to leave kisses on your neck and face as you continue to keep your eyes closed.
Contrary to what you expected, it is not a nurse who enters the room but Amelia.
"Hey rock star, you're awake. What's wrong? Do you have a headache? Dizziness?"
You nod, opening your eyes and looking into her eyes. A small smile ripples your lips as your best friend walks over to your bed and hugs you.
"You had me worried idiot."
The neurosurgeon pulls away from the hug before giving you a weak punch on your right arm.
"I'm sorry."
Amelia shakes her head as she sticks something into your IV.
"This is a painkiller, not too strong but it should ease your pain. Call me if there is any problem. I'll be back later to check how your head is; I know you have a hard head but it's always best to be cautious."
Before you can even insult her for the joke she just made, Amelia sneers her way out of the room.
"What an idiot," you shake your head, rolling your eyes. Your body begins to relax as the medication kicks in.
"So will you tell us why you didn't go to the hospital right away? You know how dangerous a head injury can be and you still decided to not go to the hospital right away. It was stupid and reckless and you can't, you CANNOT do that with your health. Ever again."
Maya looks at you sternly, with her ‘’Captain's look’’, as you and Carina call it.
"I'm sorry Maya, I know you are angry and I understand why but my only thought was only the car and the fact that I had destroyed one of the things Andrew had given Carina."
Maya holds you close and Carina joins your embrace.
"No physical thing or not, none, will ever be worth as much as your life y/n. And don't ever have a seizure over it again, am I clear? A car will never be worth as much as you are to you and me, ever. I don't care if I have to throw it away, I don't care if I have to buy another one. I care about you and your health so don't ever pull that crap again because if you had the crisis while you were alone, at home, after getting dropped off there, then it could have ended really badly and I, we, need you to understand that Bella."
Carina strokes your face gently; some tears line her face and you promptly wipe them away. Maya leaves a kiss on your cheek, holding you close.
"Car is right love, you really scared us today and when I think about the fact that we could have lost you I..." Maya shakes her head, her voice breaking and you turn to her, pulling her into a kiss.
"I'm sorry Maya, I'm so sorry I...I won't do it again."
You hug and hold each other tightly, you know you fucked up but now that Carina has calmed you down the relief you feel is priceless; therefore, you enjoy the embrace and that warmth you love so much as the medication slips you back into sleep.
Thank you so much for reading! Sorry, I know it is not the best so excuse me… I will try to improve. Have a great day!

Maya, Carina, and Y/N are walking along a small park near their home. The sun is setting down alongside a hill, and the cool autumn air is moving the few already fallen leaves around. There aren't many clouds in the sky, making the brightest stars already visible on the evening sky.
Y/N smiles, closing her eyes as she takes a deep breath, smelling the fresh air around them. They all wanted to get out of the house, starting to feel a little like the walls were falling down on them, especially Y/N, as she doesn't have the same crazy schedules as her girlfriends.
"Want to go up the hill to see the sunset better?" Maya asks, knowing how much Y/N enjoys seeing the sky change its colors.
They all decide it's a good idea, so they start to walk towards the hill. From further away, it deosn't seem like a too big of a climb. However, as they continue walking, Y/N can properly see how steep the hill is. She can feel her breathing get heavier and quicker the moment they step foot on the base of the hill, but she doesn't say anything. It's just a hill, she feels embarrased to struggle while her girlfriends walk on with ease. At the middle of the hill, Y/N's pace begins to slow down. Her breaths in and out are short and quick paced, but she makes them as quiet as possible so Maya and Carina wouldn't hear. She continues pushing on.
Right before the top, the hill becomes even steeper. Maya and Carina are already at the top, enjoying the way the sun is painting the sky. At the last steps, Y/N's breathing turns audibly wheezy, getting her girlfriends' attention. They walk over to her, worry clear on their faces as they try to ask Y/N what's wrong, but she can't hear properly through the thumping in her ears.
She feels Carina’s hands gently pushing her to the ground. She sits down, her panicked eyes moving between Carina and Maya. “I c-“ she gasps, her lungs feeling like they’re collapsing, “I can’t breathe.”
“You have to calm down, bellezza.” Carina rubs her back, while Maya helps her take off the tight shirt she is wearing. “Take long and deep breaths for me.”
Y/N follows Carina’s instructions to the best of her abilities. It takes a while for her breathing to settle down, which scares both Maya and Carina, as they’ve never experienced something like this with Y/N.
Once Y/N’s breathing is normal, though slightly heavier, Maya grabs her still shaking hand. “What happened?”
“I have asthma.” Y/N tells with a sheepish look on her face.
Her girlfriends look shocked, and slightly alarmed they weren’t made aware of her condition. “Where’s your inhaler?” Maya is frowning.
“I don’t have one.” She mumbles, biting her lower lip. “Well I do, but I haven’t picked up my new dose yet.”
“That could’ve ended very badly, bellezza.” Carina sets her hands on Y/N’s cheeks, making her look at her. “You have to tell us these things so we know what to do when something like this happens. You also need to have an inhaler with you at all times.” Her doctor voice comes out, which Y/N usually finds very attractive, but right now she just feels like a scolded child.
“I know. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
Maya helps Y/N up, giving back her shirt that she slips on. “Tomorrow morning, we’ll go and get it right when the pharmacy opens.” She states, leaving no room for negotiation.
Y/N nods with a small smile, her gaze moving to the sky. “The sun has already set.” She pouts, feeling guilty they missed it because of her attack.
“It sets every night, we’ll catch it again.” Carina tubs her back while they start walking down the hill and back to their house, now in a much slower pace. “But lets not up that hill again.” She grins, kissing Y/N’s cheek.

Maya was doing better. She really was. It was the first time she could say that in months, maybe even years. She was working on herself, she was putting in the effort.
Therapy had a lot to do with this. From regular sessions came the ability to regulate her emotions when things felt too intense. It helped her process trauma, not just the trauma she experienced as an adult either, but childhood trauma too. It shocked her, how healing it could be to process everything. It was hard to really fully come to terms with all of it. Memories that she had hurt, but she didn’t have a word for why. Now it felt less painful since she finally understood herself and what had happened throughout her life.
Of course, therapy itself was something she was originally reluctant to do. It was something she was too headstrong to think she needed it, until she finally tried. She didn’t try for her though. No, if she was being honest, what got her to first make an appointment and then— after three cancellations —to finally show up, was you.
When you left, Maya told herself she didn’t need anyone, didn’t need you. That quickly became obvious to her that she was seriously lying to herself. You left because she pushed you away when she lost her position as captain. She became irritable when you asked for her to be more open. This irritability led to fights and fights led you to distance yourself from her eventually too. Then, after one night of fighting back and forth, you left to cool off. When you came back in, Maya rounded on you without skipping a beat. That was the last straw for you.
Maya still winced at the thought of the words that left her mouth that night. Accusing you of cheating, that the space you were taking was just to fuck someone new. She had thrown in your face that you two weren’t fucking, so it only made logical sense that you were out finding someone else. Of course, the words Maya used were more colorful.
She could still see the hurt in your eyes when she said them. She still remembered the way you didn’t yell back, instead you just stood utterly silent. The next thing she knew, you were packing up your things and officially moved out of her apartment.
The weeks to come, Maya didn’t run after you. She didn’t try to call or talk or anything. Maya had foolishly convinced herself that you needed her more than she needed you; that you’d be back. She wasn’t going to call first. You had to. But you didn’t and it made Maya spiral even more. Things got worse for her. At work it was a constant reminder of her loss of captain. At  home, her apartment reminded her too much of her loss of you. So, she went out to bars in the evenings often. A little too often.
That drinking led to bad decisions. One particular night was definitely her rock bottom. She had decided to call you. Drunk off her ass and angry she was stumbling into a dark apartment without you had her thinking irrationally. Her hands moved before her mind really comprehend what she was doing. Maya saw your name on the screen and immediately hit call.
“You just gave up,” she slurred into the phone the minute she heard your tired, confused greeting from the other line. “How could you just give up?”
“M… Maya?” Your voice sounded exhausted. Somewhere in Maya’s drunken brain she knew she shouldn’t be calling you at 2AM, but at that moment she didn’t care.
“You left and now I come home to nothing,” Maya pressed. “I lost… I lost my dreams and then— then you left me. You gave up on us. What was it? Because you’re ashamed I got demoted?”
“Maya, I did not give up on us.” Your voice sounded clearer now and Maya’s mouth snapped shut at the frustration she heard on the other end of the line. “You pushed me away. You forced me to leave.”
“That- I-“ Maya was at a loss for words. The way you sounded, it wasn’t broken like Maya had thought, it wasn’t sad. It was angry. In those few words, drunk or not, Maya knew you were absolutely right.
A sigh came from the other end and Maya turned her attention to her phone again. “Look, Maya, are you okay? Are you home?” You didn’t have to be there to know she was very much not sober. She might have made the last few months with her hell, but you still cared. You couldn’t just easily erase the history you had with her or turn off your feelings.
“I’m… yes, I’m home.” Maya couldn’t think of anything else to say. Her hand dropped and her phone slid from her palm onto the couch. Her thumb tapped the screen to hang up and then she just sat there. Her mind spun from your words and from the alcohol. Even in her inebriated state, she knew from your tone of voice, just how hurt you were by her.
The day after was no easier. She had curled up on the couch that night, not bothering to change or move before she passed out. There was a small hope in her drunken mind that she would forget those devastating words you said, but of course she didn’t. They replayed in her mind from the moment she woke up and nursed her hangover to the minute she went to bed.
It was after that night that she decided to fix herself. You never called to follow up. Your silence was something that Maya knew she deserved, but still wished was otherwise. So, Maya became determined. She would fix this, but it started with her. No more drunken calls, no more lashing out. The next time she saw you, she’d prove she was a better version of herself, one that deserved your love again.
Logically, Maya realized this transformation wouldn’t happen over night. There were times where she wanted to be impatient and reach out. Her therapist worked with her on this though, advising her to wait until she was sure she was ready. Therapy helped her be honest with herself, and so many times she wanted to see you, but she knew she wasn’t ready.
Until she finally was. She had discussed this in detail with her therapist. There was a plan being made, one she was eager to implement. Months had gone by, so this wouldn’t be easy. But Maya had a newfound passion and knew that this new outlook, this better version of Maya, wasn’t complete until she had her love back in her arms.
So, she planned to show up at your door. Flowers in hand, ready to beg on her knees for you to hear her out for even just one minute. She knew she didn’t deserve that for what she put you through, but she was willing to try. She had to try. From the moment she met you, she felt like you and her were meant to be. When she finally was to enact her plan, it had to go well. But things really never are that simple.
Running into you totally disarmed her. You looked vibrant. The last time she saw you, like really saw you, you were just so… broken. She knew, deep down, that she did that to you. But now… Now you’re glowing, you’re thriving and it made her disgusted with herself. All these negative feelings that she had worked through for months suddenly bubbled to the surface the minute her eyes landed on your face.
There you were, on the other side of the cafe Maya had stopped at, smiling at someone she didn’t recognize. How much time really has passed? Maya knew it had been months, but she was trying not to dwell and count. Apparently enough time had passed for you to move on. At least that’s what it looked like. Obviously, you would move on from her. Maya knew, realistically, you had every right to move on, but she hoped you’d wait for her to right her wrongs. God how she hoped.
But clearly, you didn’t. Maya treated you like shit so you left. It made sense. You gave her chance after chance after chance, of course there would be a breaking point. Of course, there would be a process that Maya didn’t see where you would pick yourself up from the wreckage she left you in and find someone else who would give you all the things Maya promised. The reality of it was that Maya failed to follow through on every single thing she said to you. Well, all but one. She told you she would never stop loving you. This promise happened once on a night when she held you tight and was scared you’d slip through her fingers. She remembered the ways your breath hitched and your eyes shone as she looked down at your face in the moonlight and made that promise.
She remembered that promise so vividly. When the storm was coming down hard and you both listened with the window open, wrapped in each other’s arms. The setting was quiet, calming even despite the thunder booming outside. The feeling of you wrapped in her arms warmed her heart and she had never felt more complete than in that moment, so she said, “There’s never been someone I loved more completely than you.” You looked up at her with wide eyes filled with the most hopeful emotions. Then she followed “And I promise, that won’t ever change.” And it didn’t. Even if you didn’t look at her the same way, or at all now, she still loved you with her entire heart. Despite all the ugliness of your last few months together, it still was the truest feeling she’s ever had. Each night she laid down in an empty bed she ached for not just another body next to her, because that wouldn’t suffice. No, she ached for you and you alone.
When Maya saw you, you didn’t see her. She had decided she needed to get out of there as fast as possible. After her order had come out, she snatched her coffee as fast as she possibly could. Her head stayed turned from you as she made her way past your table and to the exit. Of course, she was trying so hard to avoid your gaze that she didn’t pay attention to where she was going.
She fully bumped into another random man, her coffee falling to the floor and spilling all over the place. Apology after apology flew from her lips as she still tried to keep her head down and clean up her mess. When she popped back up with a handful of coffee soaked napkins though, that’s when her eyes met yours.
You were shocked, staring back at her with eyes wide. “Maya?” Your voice was full of surprise and not resentment, which relieved Maya for a second. But then your eyes flicked to the confused person next to you and Maya’s eyes followed before landing back on your face.
The look you gave her next killed her. It was a look of guilt and pity. One that crushed Maya’s heart into a million pieces. So, she fled.
If you had followed her, Maya didn’t notice. She walked with as much speed as she could without breaking into a full blown sprint. Her eyes stung, but she refused to cry.
This whole encounter threw off everything for her. She had to rethink everything she planned. Was it still possible to win you back? Was it too late? Should she even try?
Those were all the questions she flung at her therapist the moment she sat down for her next session. What she was reminded of was that she had no answers for what was going on and who she saw with you. Therefore, she had no answers for the previous questions she posed.
The new plan was still to reach out, but be more casual about it. Ask for coffee and discuss all the ways you may have changed and how Maya had been doing. Focus on you first and then perhaps Maya can move onto her proposal to restart. This plan positioned herself so that she could learn who that person was and what the situation might be before putting her heart right on the line.
She wasn’t ready for all of that just yet though. There was a greater potential for rejection now. Maya told herself she was too scared to know the truth so she would wait a bit longer. Even if waiting was knowing she could possibly be pushing you closer to this mysterious person, she just couldn’t muster up the courage. But, much like the coffee shop incident, life had other plans.
In the months you two had been apart, Maya hadn’t run into you at all. Now, suddenly, she bumps into you two weeks in a row before she was really ready to. It was like some kind of cosmic cruel joke.
Again, when she saw you, she felt utterly disarmed. She was just trying to enjoy a nice run when she ran straight up to you. Not intentionally, of course, she was off in her own little world. Her mind was wrapped up in you, so to hear your voice say her name as she passed had her utterly freeze in shock.
“Hi…” Maya said hesitantly as she turned to see your face staring back at her. This time, thankfully, you appeared to be alone.
“Hi.” Your voice had just as much hesitation as hers. “How… um, how are you?”
“Good,” Maya nodded, trying to catch her breath and calm her heart rate. She didn’t think it was the run that was elevating it. “Yeah, I’m good.” And it was true to an extent, even if she was internally panicking.
She hadn’t thought it would go this awkward. Maybe it was naive, but she assumed everything would just… click when she was one-on-one with you again. But instead, you were anxious and she was tense.
Maya took a deep breath, remembering the exercises given to her in her sessions. It helped ground her and get her bearings. “How are you?” Maya finally managed to ask after a long, awkward pause.
“I’m okay.” If there was one thing Maya knew, it was how to read your eyes. Your tone sounded fine, but that answer didn’t reach your eyes. In fact, as Maya looked on at your face, she thought you looked tired. Maybe even quite a bit sad. She wondered if she read you wrong at the coffee shop. If maybe you weren’t as happy as you seemed. Did your smile reach your eyes that day? Maya was too taken aback by suddenly seeing you that she didn’t pay much attention then.
“Yeah?” Maya questioned.
You nodded and for a moment that awkward pause was back. “Maya, about the other day…” you finally broke the silence.
“You don’t need to explain.”
“Yeah, but— I don’t know, I feel like I should.” Your voice got quieter as you spoke and Maya shook her head. She offered you a sad smile and more guilt washed over you.
“You don’t owe me an explanation.” Maya honestly hoped you wouldn’t give one. Not yet, she still wasn’t ready to hear it yet. “It’s okay really.”
But then, as you both stood, shuffling awkwardly and trying to find the right words, or any words for that matter, Maya felt the nagging curiosity bubble up in her. Maybe if she did ask, it would be better now than later. She could rip off the bandaid. She didn’t want details, but she just wanted to know. It could determine if there was hope. If she had a reason to hold on to it; to you. So, she asked the scariest, but most simple question to end this internal debate that she could think of.
“Is it serious?” Maya tried to play it off as a casual question, but deep down the answer you would give her would hold an important weight in her heart that you were entirely unaware of.
“No,” you gave her a small, sad smile. “We just met that day.”
Maya couldn’t help herself, she really couldn’t. She had to know. As much as your answers could rip her heart right out, she just had to. “Has there been anyone serious?”
“No, Maya,” you sighed. It wasn’t a sigh of frustration, but one that sounded just so disheartening to Maya’s ears. “Not since…”
“Me,” Maya finished.
You just nodded in a response. The look on your face said it all. The pain was still right there on the surface. There’s a discomfort between you two. Things were still broken. Of course they would be, Maya thought. It’s not like you two tried to talk after you walked out. She just let you walk away and she was sure you probably held that against her even today. You two didn’t try to be friends, you didn’t try to be anything after it all went down. It was just radio silence apart from that drunken night. But Maya could feel that there was still so much left unsaid. It wasn’t just her that wanted to talk, but she could see in your eyes that you did too. If you didn’t, you could’ve just walked on. Yet, you stayed. It was awkward and public, but you still stood in front of her, shuffling your feet, as you waited for more words to come. So a talk was definitely necessary and obviously overdue. The question is, would you be willing to actually sit down and talk with her?
She had to try, right? You were, well, you. The person on Maya’s mind every single day even if you weren’t currently in her life. Her greatest love that still held all of her heart. She had to try.
“Could we… I don’t know.” Maya was really struggling to get these words out there. No matter how many times she practiced this in her head after running into you, doing it was harder. She had to be brave though. She knew this moment wouldn’t come again for a long time. It had been so long since she saw you. Last week didn’t count, this meeting was different; face-to-face. A rare coincidence that suddenly presented her with so many options. What would happen if she let this chance pass her by? When would it come next? Would that girl you were with still be nothing serious? Maya couldn’t risk that. “Could we maybe grab dinner sometime?”
“Why?” It wasn’t a harsh question. You weren’t being defensive when you asked, but you were being cautious. Maya understood that and honestly she appreciated it even. But the question still took her aback.
“I just- I think we should talk.” Maya searched your eyes for any type of negativity to her request. She was really putting herself on the line. Not just with asking you to talk, but actually telling you that she was willing to. And talk she would. She would say everything that was left unsaid and she would let you say what you needed to say too of course. Maya could show you that she’s different, that she’s better, that she changed. Maybe then you’d give her just one last chance. She had no right to ask you for any more, not when so much time had passed. But god fucking dammit she wanted you back so badly.
“I’ve been seeing a therapist and working on myself,” Maya continued. “I just want the chance to— to show you how far I’ve come.” The mention of therapy shocked you. It was something you asked her to consider, but all you were met with was a scoff. As your eyes searched Maya’s face, you realized how sincere she was. She seemed to be very honest about her claims.
You wished you could relate. That you could say you worked on yourself in the time you two were apart. Truthfully, when Maya saw you it was the first time you decided to stop drowning in your heartbreak and find someone new. The sight of Maya that day had ruined that resolve.
Secretly, after that day, you hoped to see her again. Part of you wished she would call, but she didn’t. If you called, you felt like that was betraying every promise you made to yourself after leaving her. She needed to change to make it work, to stop hurting you, but you were scared she wasn’t capable of that.
So, you didn’t call. But when you saw her running towards you, on a route you knew she took, you couldn’t stop yourself from stopping her. Part of you still felt shocked to see her again, but really it was you lying to yourself. There was a strong chance you’d see her, and you knew that. You told yourself you needed the walk for fresh air, but there was more to it. The need to just talk to her, for even a moment, was too great. You wanted to know how she was doing, if she was okay. That drunken call still ran through your head and made you sick with worry.
When you saw her at the cafe, though, you thought she looked good. There was an inkling of hope, which is why you found yourself here trying to “accidentally” bump into her. And it all played out how you wanted.
But then she wanted dinner and to actually talk and you realized you were playing a dangerous game. If she hurt you all over again, honestly you didn’t think you could survive it. All you’ve done for months is lay in an unfamiliar, empty apartment you managed to find when you left. It didn’t feel like home, it felt depressing. You were sufficating in your heartbreak and just starting to pick up the pieces. If she was lying to get you back, only to treat you so badly again, it would destroy you for good this time.
“I don’t know…” Your eyes fell as you tried to find the right words to let her down.
“Just one dinner and then, if you want, you never have to hear from me again.” Maya’s plea had squeezed at your heart. The moment you made the mistake of looking back up at her, your resolve broke. She was so hopeful and yet so scared at the same time. “Just one dinner,” She repeated and you shocked yourself when you nodded in agreement.
“One,” you whispered.
“Good.” Maya’s smile was hesitant, but her eyes sparkled as she realized you were giving her a chance. Maybe it wasn’t a chance to get back together and make up for all the pain Maya caused, but it was a start. “This weekend, let’s go to that Italian restaurant… the one you love so much.”
You knew the exact one. Maya wasn’t subtle. It was your first date, which is possibly why it was your favorite place. It was romantic and intimate. A good place to talk, but also a good place to get lost in Maya’s presence and lose your resolve even more.
Still you couldn’t help but agree. “I’ll meet you there.” You knew if you drove there at least you wouldn’t be going home with her even if you wanted to. Maya nodded, giving you her most charming smile that used to make you swoon. It still did, if you were being completely honest.
Your smile was nervous as you returned it, but still there was a flutter in your stomach that you hadn’t felt in a long time. The last time was before Maya got demoted, when that bright smile was turned your way almost every day. Seeing it again, you didn’t realize how much you missed it.
Both of you parted after a moment. Maya’s jog continued but this time instead of spiraling in anxiety about potentially losing you forever, she was happy. Her plan was to talk, really it was, but as she ran her mind daydreamed about all the romantic possibilities that could happen after.
You, on the other hand, were preoccupied with very different thoughts. Ones of re-lived heartbreak and broken promises. The rest of that evening you spent spiraling and consumed in regret and fear of the what ifs.
---------------------------------------------
The weekend came faster than you expected it to. In the days that followed your last encounter with Maya, your mind was fixated on so many worst case scenarios. Maya, on the other hand, was the exact opposite.
She was nervous, sure, but she was also confident. She had her foot back in the door, she could try to convince you that she had changed. Logically, she knew jumping back into it all with you would be nearly impossible. It wasn’t like she wasn’t ready for that or for you. She knew she was ready to have it all with you, to have you back home and in the bed you once shared with her. It was all she wanted now. Screw captain, she had dropped the fantasy of getting it back somewhere in the second month of regular therapy sessions. Recently, it had even been reoffered to her and it was just as much of a shock to the station as it was to herself when she rejected the opportunity to snatch the position again.
Somewhere in the process of self improvement, she realized that wasn’t actually what she wanted. What she did want was her life back. That wasn’t possible, she decided, without you. But, not only did she want her life back, she wanted it to be better. For you. It’s what you deserved and she realized that now. She had taken you for granted and she was going to spend the rest of her life making it up to you if you’d let her.
That was another thing. Part of her plan was ambitious. She had wanted to eventually prove her dedication to you with a ring she had long hidden in the drawer next to her side of the bed, waiting for just the right chance. This was part of her plan that she had in mind before she saw you on that coffee date and if she was being honest, it was a part she tried to let go of again before she saw you on her run. When she saw you at the coffee shop, she had tried to calm herself, realizing the minute she felt ready that she was getting a little too excited. She had expected you to be hesitant, mad even, but she had held onto this naive idea that you were waiting for her to better herself.
Even if she tried to calm herself down and not get her hopes up, she couldn’t help it. The closer she got to Saturday the more hopeful she got. Her mind wandered to the daydreams she used to have about a future with you, a wedding, a house… All those big things. There were butterflies in her stomach that she hadn’t felt since she got demoted. It really felt like everything was coming together for her.
That is, until about two hours before you both had agreed to meet.
While she was eagerly getting dressed in the nicest possible outfit, you were sitting frozen on your bed, staring at the clock tick away closer and closer to when it was time to see her. Your mind was running in circles about how you were setting yourself up to get hurt again, how you were going along with this all too easily. It was a big step to see Maya and who’s to say she really has changed? Or what if she has changed, but would stop working on herself the minute she had you back? She could lean on you, sure, you were always there to support her, but you didn’t want to be her emotional punching bag again. You didn’t want the cold shoulder when she came home, the accusations, the walking on eggshells. You didn’t know what was worse, living with a shell of the woman you loved or being without her completely. But as these months went on, and that emptiness sunk in, you had gotten used to it. Maybe it was better than the constant pain, rejection, and resentment Maya had directed towards you? Or maybe you just got comfortable in it?
Either way you were scared, so you made a choice. It was one solely made out of fear, one that you chose without truly thinking over it in a logical way. You sent a text on impulse.
Maya saw her phone light up as she was out already, trying to pick up a few of your favorite things before the date really started. With your favorite flowers in hand, she opened the text and her stomach dropped.
I can’t see you tonight. I’m sorry.
That was all you gave her and honestly, Maya understood. She really did, but she was still crushed.
The flowers she had in her hand were left forgotten on the cashier counter as she just walked straight out the door.
The minute you sent that text your heart sank. You saw the three dots on the text thread start for a moment and then nothing. There was no reply, all it said was that it was read about a minute after you had sent it. You fell back on the bed, regretting the decision almost immediately and knowing just how much that had to hurt Maya. But it was for the best, right? That’s what you were telling yourself. It would save you both pain in the long run. It would save her from seeing you leave again, seeing you not be strong enough to stay by her side when she’s going through the worst of it.
The guilt was killing you.
Eventually, about three hours later and what would’ve been an hour into the dinner you were supposed to have, you got tired of wallowing. You needed to eat, you didn’t have the emotional energy to cook, and maybe it would be good to get yourself up and moving. That way you couldn’t break your resolve, which for three hours had been seriously slipping. You lost count of the amount of times you typed and deleted an apology text to send to her. Of course, none of them got sent. If you sent one then there would be a possibility to reschedule and that reschedule would lead to all these feelings again. You couldn’t do that and you couldn’t put Maya through that.
So, by some miracle, you got yourself back out of bed. You walked, on autopilot, to your favorite pizza place to get some food. Honestly, you were probably quite the sight. You didn’t bother to do much other than get dressed in a comfortable t-shirt and jeans. There were probably still tear stains on your cheeks from how overwhelmed you felt by your emotions over tonight and your hair was definitely a mess, considering you buried yourself between two pillows and willed yourself to sleep off the horrible feelings. Sleep never came, so here you were.
As you made your way into the restaurant and got in line to order, you really didn’t pay much attention to your surroundings. So, when you completely missed Ben Warren with his family sitting at a table, it was only understandable to take no notice. But he definitely saw you.
His head perked up and his eyebrows arched high in surprise. Maya had been talking all week about tonight, so to see you here and also in such a state of dishevelment was really shocking. But then he put the pieces together. You looked rough, but he didn’t think it was because of your interaction with Maya.
What he should’ve done was mind his own business, but he had a soft spot for you and Maya and once he saw how dead on your feet you looked, he couldn’t stop himself. With determination, while you remained completely oblivious to his presence, he walked up behind you and cautiously tapped your shoulder.
You turned slowly, not really thinking about who was behind you or what they could want. The emotional exhaustion was too strong for you to honestly care much about anything. You really just wanted to get food and go. Even then, you weren’t sure you were going to eat it. At least you’d try though.
Then, as you turned and realized who it was, that’s when you jumped out of your skin. This was the last thing you wanted– Well, maybe not the last thing since it wasn’t actually Maya who was standing in front of you– But still, seeing someone she worked with was not much better. God, you hoped he didn’t know that you had plans with Maya. If he did, then it would be very obvious that you blew her off. He was her friend before he was yours. In fact, you weren’t sure if he really was your friend. Ben was kind and caring of course, but he was like that with everyone.
The last thing you wanted was for him to look at you with any sort of disappointment or disapproval. What if his reaction was worse? That kind and welcoming side you had learned to associate with Warren could go away completely if he knew where you were supposed to be tonight. You really couldn’t get chewed out by him for hurting his friend. That wasn’t something you had the emotional capacity for tonight. Surely, Maya didn’t tell everyone. She wouldn’t, right? Thinking back to the dynamic you witnessed between her and her station and how everyone was a big family… the odds weren’t in your favor.
“What are you doing here?” Warren’s question was gentle, he waited to ask when the shock of seeing him finally washed from your face and was replaced with one of hesitation. He didn’t seem mad and, in fact, it was almost like he already knew the answer, but your heart still sank when you heard the question either way. “Aren’t you supposed to be meeting with Maya? It’s all she’s talked about this week.”
So he did know. Of course, he knew. “Warren, hi… I- she told you about it?”
“It’s all she’s been talking about,” he said with no hint of humor in his voice. You swallowed hard at the look on his face. Not disapproving, but still serious.
“I- I couldn’t go,” you stammered. “It didn’t seem like a good idea. She said she changed— I don’t know. Look I should go.” You took a step back and your eyes darted to the exit. It was a bad idea to come out, you were seriously regretting that now. Food be damned, all you wanted to do was crawl back into bed.
Seeing as Warren didn’t seem to want to stop you, you turned to leave. Even if you came here to get your comfort food before you spent the night, yet again, wallowing in heartbreak, your appetite was gone. Plus, you couldn’t stand the way he looked at you right now, the guilt of it was making you feel nauseous.
“She gave up captain.” Warren’s voice stopped you dead in your tracks.
“What did you say…” Your question trailed off as you turned to him again.
“She gave up captain for you.” He repeated. What he said was something Maya didn’t even plan to tell you, not yet anyways. It was the last part of her process before she realized she was ready to try again with you, ready to show you she was better. And it was also the one thing you never thought you’d hear, one Maya knew would shock you to your core. She didn’t want you to know until she actually had you in her arms again, lest you think it was a tactic to get you back the easy way without even proving herself first. But, as Warren stood and saw how terrified you clearly were to jump into things with Maya again, he knew he had to nudge.
“Warren…” It felt like the wind got knocked out of you. “That can’t be true. She wants that more than anything.”
“No,” Warren shook his head. “There’s something she wants more.” His face said it all, he didn’t have to tell you what that thing was. It was so clearly you.
You were at a loss for words. Your heart was beating faster by the second as realization washed over you.
“I suggest,” Warren’s voice was gentle now, “ you go see her. Tonight.”
You nodded, your feet backing away from the man yet again, but this time when you turned for the door it was for a different reason.
A million questions ran through your mind and you felt even worse about canceling on her now. You should’ve given her a chance to talk. You should’ve heard her out. If what he was saying was true then it changed everything. There was nothing bigger than the claim he just made. Warren didn’t lie either, you knew he was a trustworthy man. So you knew, deep down, the claim was true.
Your feet carried you home faster than you thought capable. It was like your body was on autopilot while your mind raced. You stopped to grab your car keys before peeling out of your apartment parking lot and speeding towards your destination. You knew exactly where you wanted to go before you even really processed that you were already heading that way. It was rash. You had just spent the whole week worrying about being close to Maya again, hearing Maya out, opening yourself up to heartbreak. Now, though, everything was different. Now, you were suddenly ready to throw caution to the wind.
Ben said the exact words you needed to hear to let go of any of your hesitations. Yes, you should’ve heard Maya out and yes, what you did wasn’t the best. But you were going to listen now, or try to. Even if your mind was in a million places at once, the only thing you knew was that you needed to see her.
So when you found yourself at her apartment, you didn’t think to text or call her to warn her you were coming or to tell her you were there even when you slammed the car door and rushed to her unit. There was no hesitancy in the way you went straight to her door and knocked profusely.
You definitely seemed like a crazy person, but you didn’t really care at that moment. Did you have a plan? No, but all you knew was that you needed to make this right. You’d hear her out, you’d listen for hours, you’d do whatever it took later. But as you waited anxiously for her to come to the door, this feeling inside you grew. It was one that told you to just fling yourself into her arms. Warren gave you all the reason you needed for you to let go of your trepidations. So if you could get her to open the door for you, you might just do exactly that.
Finally, the door swings open and Maya’s irritated face twisted into utter shock the moment she saw you on the other side. It was almost comical to see just how flabbergasted she was. But then, as you took her appearance in, you realized she was probably wallowing in the same way you were the moment she read your text.
“(Y/N), hi what are you-”
“I have some stuff to say and I need you to just listen.” You interrupted her. She nodded immediately and stepped aside to let you in. You walked right past her and into the middle of her apartment. An apartment you used to share. The strangeness of being back here settled in your stomach like a storm and it just added so much more to your anxiety and confusion. Again, you really didn’t have much of a plan as to what was to come next. You should talk, you really should talk, but also you didn’t want to talk you just wanted… her.
Maya walked in behind you and waited. You paced back and forth in front of her. With each step you took both yours and her anxiety was rising. She had no idea what you were going to say or if it was going to break her heart into tiny pieces. She was already hurting from your actions earlier today. The last thing she expected was to see you show up at her doorstep.  This could go either way. But honestly, she was gearing up more for you to say you never wanted to see her again rather than say anything good. But she hoped beyond hope that she was wrong to prepare for that.
Your mind was racing and your heart was pounding in your chest. Ever since you let Maya back into your life (if you could even count the encounters you had as that), you were so afraid of her and the hurt she could possibly bring on top of the hurt you were already feeling from what happened before. But now you get this news? That the one thing she wanted more than anything in the world was offered to her and she said no. That one thing she wanted so badly it broke the both of you was no longer the thing she wanted and it felt like you were living in another reality. How were you supposed to react when Ben, the most honest man you knew, looks you in the eye and says it was you that she wanted most of all now? What do you say to him or, even more importantly, to her after learning that fact?
“We have a lot to talk about,” You were repeating yourself, but it was all you could think of to break the silence.
“I know,” Maya nodded as she watched you pace the room.
“And a lot to work through.”
“I know,” she repeated.
“With this dinner was I… Was this your way of getting things back to the way they were?”
“No,” she shook her head. “Not how they were. A new start.”
“Maya, I- I’m still hurt. You hurt me and I haven’t healed all the way yet. It’s not that easy.”
“I know,” Maya hung her head. “I know, I hurt you. And I know it’s not that easy.”
“But even then… even…” Your words were escaping you and the battle in your mind was fizzling out to just one thing. You were so fucking tired. Tired of hurting from Maya. Tired of working through all of this and “staying strong” whatever the fuck that meant. Fuck sticking with your decision and standing your ground. Fuck being apart from the only woman you think you ever truly loved and would ever love. Fuck all of that. “Even after everything, even after months have passed… God, Maya can you just be kissing me now? Please?”
It didn’t even take Maya two seconds to process your words. In two quick strides she was in front of you, with her hands on either side of your face, pulling you in. It felt like a hurricane of emotions exploding inside you the minute her lips crashed into yours. But god was it just so… so everything. It was painful, it was incredible, it was messy, it was earth shattering. The way she was pressing her lips to yours with so much need, so much love, and so much desperation. And you met every emotion she was giving you into that kiss with your own tenfold. God, this was all you both wanted.
Maya felt like she was about to explode with joy. She knew there was work to be done, she knew you were hurt and the both of you were still broken, but finally there was hope. When she asked you to dinner, never in her wildest dreams did she think this would be happening right now. Especially after the text she received. But this. This moment right here was a sign that those pieces she broke back then could start being put together and that was all she had hoped for the minute you walked out the door. She was going to do everything she possibly could to fix what you two had.
Your hands moved to tangle into Maya’s hair and hers moved to wrap around your waist and pull your body to press against hers. The kiss grew more and more heated with every passing second. It was like you had been starving for her and now finally you got to have a taste again, but it was going to take so much more to satiate you. Maya was in the same boat.
In the back of your mind, you thought maybe you should stop at kissing her and start talking at some point, but then your back hit the wall and Maya’s hands were dipping under your shirt and scratching at your sides. The way she was pressing herself so completely into your body, while also pulling you impossibly closer had your head swimming. A small moan fell from her lips as she kissed you harder and any thought of stopping was totally gone. The overwhelming need to be even closer (if that was possible at this point) overtook you. Plus, you didn’t want to go another night without having her next to you. The thought of going back to your empty apartment, falling asleep alone in bed, without her strong arms around you was the last thing you wanted. Tonight, you wanted Maya and you weren’t going to deny yourself of that any longer.
You were melting into her, your hands gripping at her back desperately as she kissed you with everything she had. The way your tongue ran over hers had both of you groaning against each other’s lips. Maya too thought maybe she should take it slow. Her reasoning was that she was worried she’d scare you off, but then you held her tighter and let her kiss you deeper and she knew that she couldn’t hold back. She’d only stop if you told her to stop, otherwise she was going to finally indulge.
Eventually, Maya’s hands gripped tightly at your waist and she pulled you to walk backwards into the bedroom with her. Not once did she break the kiss and with each step you took with her, she just felt more eager to have you completely again. When both of you crossed the threshold, her hands were immediately tearing at your clothes. Both of you only broke the kiss for her to remove your shirt and bra and then her own, before you both leaned back in.
This time, when she kissed you, she slowed a little. Her tongue licked into your mouth and your nails dug into her bare shoulders. Her hands trailed down your stomach until they reached your jeans. She slipped her fingers into your belt loops and, in one swift move, she had you turned around until your knees hit the edge of the bed and you fell backwards.
You landed with an umph but she didn’t seem to mind, neither did you. She followed you down with her knees resting on the mattress on either side of your hips to hold herself up. Her lips moved from yours to lick and nip down your neck. You were breathing hard and small whines were falling freely from you now.
All the while, Maya was in a state of disbelief. This all felt too good to be true, but then here you were. In her hands, on her bed, laying right beneath her. The very thought of it all just made Maya’s need for you rise.
Her teeth sank into the tender flesh between your neck and collarbone a little harder than she had been nipping at you before. A loud gasp filled the room, but quickly turned into a desperate moan as her tongue ran over the bite mark she left behind.
Usually, when you two were together before, you would complain about her leaving marks and the efforts you’d have to take to hide them the next day. This time was different, though. You didn’t mind her doing it, in fact you wanted her to. In a weird way it was a reminder that Maya seemed to have changed and that she was here with you tonight. So if anything happened after this encounter, at least you had this moment with her. This moment of completely throwing caution to the wind and letting Maya have you completely as she once did.
Maya’s hands tugged at your jeans as her lips and tongue made their way down to your chest. When she lowered her head past your neck, she was finally met with the sight of your perfect bare chest. When Maya had managed to rip off your jeans and toss them somewhere, one hand shot right up to palm at your breast while the other pushed your thigh until you had no choice but to spread your legs and let Maya adjust to kneel between them.
With the way Maya was palming at one nipple, rolling it between her fingers and teasing you, your head was swimming. Then, she took your other in her mouth and your own hand flew to her hair, pressing her closer to your bare breast as she lightly sucked and nipped at it.
Your head had already fallen back onto the pillow, your body already overwhelmed by all the things Maya was doing to it. It was like she never missed a beat.  She knew what you liked, she remembered every sensitive spot, every way and place to touch that drove you crazy. When her fingers finally left your inner thigh and moved between your legs to just barely trace the outside of your folds, you couldn’t stop the whimper.
That was one thing about you and Maya. The sex was always amazing because she always paid attention to your body. But she also loved to draw things out, which is exactly what it seemed like she was doing tonight. The way she continued to pay attention to your breasts while just barely ghosting the tips of her fingers over your clit was her way of taking her time. It was also driving you crazy. You didn’t think tonight, of all nights, you could let this be drawn out.
It had been months since you left Maya and even longer since she actually touched you like this. Drawing it out was torture for you. Even though Maya was enjoying this, enjoy your body, she still knew you well. She didn’t miss the frustrated huff when she only traced your entrance but didn’t do much else. She heard the pleading whimpers when her fingers rubbed lazy circles against your clit. As much as she wanted to take her time and absorb every little detail about your body, she wanted to fulfill your needs first.
So, when she entered you with two fingers without warning, the way you gasped out her name felt like the most rewarding sound Maya had ever heard. You still had one hand tangled into her hair and the other moved to wrap around her back as she began to move her fingers inside you.
Maya managed to position herself in a way that whenever she entered her fingers into you, she put her whole body behind it. She rocked into you with each time her fingers pumped inside you. The whole bed creaked and groaned as she continued to fuck you at a steady, but strong pace.
As her pace sped up, Maya buried her head into your neck. Her emotions were high right now. To be with you like this again finally was everything to her. The way you held onto her, the way you felt around her fingers, the way you were about to fall apart at any second because of her— it was so beautiful to her. Tears pricked at her eyes, but she ignored them, knowing they were just a result of how happy she finally was. Her lips reattached to your neck, leaving marks on your skin as you turned your head into the pillow and gave her more access.
When her fingers curled inside you and you cried out her name again, she groaned into your neck. Her free hand moved to grab one of yours and entangle your fingers as she started to pump the two inside you even harder. At this point, she knew you were close. She could feel you tighten around her fingers.
By now all you were doing was moaning her name. Every part of you was overwhelmed by Maya and the intensity was nothing you had experienced before. To go so long without the woman you loved, to not know if you’d ever have her again, made this experience so much more intense.
Your body shook as Maya continued to press her fingers against just the right spot inside you. The hand that was now in yours held tighter and you squeezed back as your body started to approach that edge.
White hot pleasure burst through your whole body finally and you felt yourself tighten even more around the fingers inside you. You let out a pathetic whimper of Maya’s name as you came. She kissed at your neck and your face, murmuring different things about how good you were, how beautiful you looked, and other praises.
Your body relaxed underneath her finally and she slowly and carefully slid her fingers out of you. Maya’s body rested more fully on top of yours once she had and you still struggled to regulate your heartbeat.
A hand came to press against your cheek and Maya leaned up slightly to look at you. You were still panting a little from the intensity of the orgasm, but you managed to focus your eyes and look back. The expression you saw from her took your breath away. Never had you seen her so happy, so radiant in all the time you’ve known Maya. She was smiling down at you with the softest, but most genuine smile you’ve ever seen. Her eyes shined as she stared back at yours and all you could read in them was admiration and happiness.
She leaned down then, her lips pressing against yours in the most gentle kiss. Your eyes fluttered closed and you leaned up into it, overtaken by the softness that Maya was displaying.
“I know we need to talk,” Maya whispered when she pulled away. “But would you stay the night, please?” You nodded and Maya’s smile only got brighter. “I just want to hold you for the rest of the night. Is that okay?”
“I’d like that,” you managed to say, your voice still rough from the intensity of the events just moments ago.
“Good,” Maya sighed happily. She adjusted then, rolling off you and shimmying out of the rest of her clothes. Then she settled beside you, pulling you into her strong arms where you adjusted until you felt comfortable. There was so much intimacy in this moment, your bare bodies pressed to each other and your head on her chest so close you could hear the beat of her heart. Before you left, before Maya lost captain even, this kind of intimacy was hard for Maya to express. You had learned and accepted that it was a feeling that would come when it did, and that was rare.
But tonight, as Maya’s fingers raked gently through your hair, it felt so natural and easy for her. There didn’t seem to be any difficulty in the affection Maya was showing and your heart skipped a beat as you realized just how much truth she had spoken when she said she changed.
You felt content in this moment, like everything would be okay. No matter what all you had to talk through, no matter the work that still needed to be done, things between you two would be okay. You were right where you were supposed to be and both of you felt that sentiment now more than either of you ever had.
“Maya,” you whispered into the peaceful silence the room had fallen into. “I love you. I never stopped loving you.” Those words had so much emotion, they held so much promise in them, and you hoped Maya understood all of it in the conviction you put behind them.
Maya’s hand paused in your hair for a moment, but you felt the arm around you tighten and pull you closer. “I love you too,” Maya finally said, clearing her throat to avoid the obvious signs of tears that threatened to spill. “I will always love you with everything I have, if you let me. I promise you that.”
It was a new promise that Maya was making to you. What felt like so long ago Maya had held you and said she never loved anyone more completely than you and promised that never would change. Now she is promising you that she will give her all to loving you and being the partner you need. Maya has broken promises, she’s let you down and hurt you in the past. It’s what broke the both of you before. But as you took in her words, you knew, just as she held onto the one promise, she’d hold onto this one as well.
There was healing to do, but Maya was ready to rebuild with you if you’d let her. And as you pulled yourself closer into her body and pressed a kiss over her heart, she knew you were all in to rebuild with her too.

For you, the university was not only a place of learning, but also a melting pot of emotions. As the daughter of Maya and Carina, you felt the expectations weighing on your shoulders. Your mother, a respected obstetrician-gynecologist, had already made her mark in the medical world, and you felt the urge to follow in her footsteps.
Your parents had never put any pressure on you to follow the same path as either of them. Nevertheless, you felt an inner obligation to continue your family tradition. Even as a little girl, you listened with fascination when your mother talked about the challenges and successes of her job. The love of medicine seemed to be embedded in your DNA.
The campus pulsed with life as you moved through the crowd, clutching your books on anatomy and surgery, eager to head to your lectures. Like every day, your heart beat faster with excitement and a hint of uncertainty.
In your first year at university you found yourself in a world characterized by complex theories and demanding internships. The anatomy books became your constant companion and you learned to understand human anatomy like a puzzle. In the labs, you made precise cuts and analyzed tissue samples with the dedication of an artist who wanted to perfect every detail of her work.
The challenges of studying became clear as you approached your first internship at the hospital. Beads of sweat appeared on your forehead as you assisted in your first procedure. The smell of disinfectant and the hum of medical equipment surrounded you. You felt the responsibility getting bigger and bigger.
But with each passing day, not only did the challenge grow, but so did your passion. You soaked up the knowledge like it was the sweetest honey and found comfort in the advice of your professors.
The lecture hall you had just entered was filled with a hushed murmur of inquisitive students as you slumped in your seat. The excited atmosphere before another exciting lecture permeated the room as the professor began to talk about the latest advances in surgery. Surrounded by attentive fellow students, you listened intently to the expert's words and the technical details that rained down on you.
The projections on the wall showed complex surgical procedures as the professor delivered her explanations with enthusiasm and expertise and you tried to understand the connections between the details. You found yourself in a stream of information that took you into the fascinating world of medical innovations. Your eyes sparkled with excitement, taking in every sentence as if they could be keys to some secret knowledge.
Just before the professor was about to play a video showing complex open-heart surgery, a shrill alarm code, followed by an urgent warning, ripped through the air. "Attention, active shooter. Barricade yourself in the rooms." The room froze for a moment. You sat up, your eyes wide in surprise. An uneasy feeling settled in your stomach.
Students frantically ran to corners and sought shelter under tables. The professor tried in vain to calm the panicked crowd. But the situation escalated further when muffled shots were heard from outside the building. Recognizing this soundscape captured the attention of everyone in the room. Faces faded with fear and a feeling of helplessness spread.
Your heart was in your throat, you could hear the pulsing of your own heartbeat as you also pushed yourself into a corner, trying to keep a clear head. Panic was in the air, and thoughts of the surgical procedures and advances paled in front of the pressing reality.
A wave of fear passed through you and your thoughts whirled wildly. The idea of the place of learning becoming a scene of violence shook you to the core.
In a moment that seemed like an eternity, doors were thrown open and hooded figures entered. Another wave of fear swept through the room as people realized that this was no mere alarm, but a cruel reality. The shadow of disaster had entered the lecture hall.
Armed men in dark clothes now dominated the scene. Your class was taken hostage and a cold shiver ran through your body. Your eyes searched for allies, for a means of escape, but the men with weapons clung to their control over the desperate crowd.
The professor, your fellow students and you were trapped in a nightmare that was unfolding at breakneck speed. The situation worsened when the men began making demands and firing wildly in the air. You suddenly found yourself in the middle of a threatening drama that you never thought possible.

Maya and Carina stood in the fire station's supply room, surrounded by boxes full of medical supplies, taking inventory of necessary medical supplies. The mood was focused as the two checked lists and made sure all life-saving supplies were present.
"Do you think we should order more bandages? To be on the safe side?" the blonde asked as she pulled out individual small packages, counted them and then sorted them into the cupboards. "Yes, I think so. You can't have enough of them, especially on larger missions."
The sounds of the plastic wraps and packaging had created a calming atmosphere, but it was suddenly broken by a shrill voice. Victoria, who until recently had been sitting in the relaxation room, stormed into the small inventory room, her eyes wide with dismay. "You must come with me immediately," she said in a trembling voice. Her hands were gripping the remote control tightly.
Maya and Carina exchanged a worried look and dropped everything. Both women's hearts began to pound wildly in their chests as they quickly left the room and followed their friend. As they entered the room, they both stopped in the middle of it.
The television flickered as the newscaster solemnly announced the terrible truth. "A serious incident has occurred at Seattle University. Armed attackers have entered the building and taken hostages. Police are on scene, but the situation is extremely critical."
Maya and Carina stared at the screen in shock as the reporter reported on the dramatic scenes, hitting them like a blow. Images of students running out filled the room. An icy shiver ran through the two of them when the name of the affected university was mentioned several times. A feeling of helplessness fell like a leaden veil over their hearts. The words invaded their thoughts, and the images of their beloved daughter studying at this institution seemed like a fragile glass threatened by an impending storm. "Y/n.. she has classes today. She's there."
Carina felt her knees weakening and tears forming in her eyes. The blonde reflexively clung to the back of the sofa. The world of the two, which had just seemed so familiar and safe, was thrown out of control. The maternal instincts awoke with frightening intensity when they thought of the dact that you were currently in a dangerous situation. "Oh mio Dio, no," the brunette whispered, her voice shaky. Maya, usually a rock in the surf, felt tears burning in her eyes too. Fear for her daughter engulfed them both like a blazing fire.
"We have to go to the university immediately," Maya spoke, interrupted by the muffled sound of the news in the background. Carina nodded, the determination in her eyes reflecting the inner strength that mothers could mobilize in times of crisis.
The fear, worry and hope blurred together as they set off together, seeking reassurance that they would do everything in their power to get you out of there.

Title: Favorite Things
Pairing: Maya Bishop x Reader
Prompt: "You look better in my clothes than I do."
Word Count: 484
The midday sunlight poured in through the halfway-shut blinds. Ash groaned as she tried to turn away from the light. She could have sworn that Maya had closed the blinds fully whenever she had left that morning. Ash didn't remember much from the morning whenever she had just barely been awake enough to register that Maya was even leaving.
They had spent their night drinking. Ash didn't know why Maya had been so upset, and even if Maya had let it slip, Ash was too drunk to remember. They had done shot after shot before finally just getting their own respective bottles to hold. There were bits and pieces of the night scattered around in Ash's memory, but nothing concrete.
"Shit," Ash grumbled as she slipped on a sweatshirt she found on the ground by the bed. It wasn't hers, but Maya was supposed to be off at work all day. Besides, Ash doubted that Maya would care that much. Maya had been getting sappy, and Ash was almost certain that they were so close to moving in together. No more splitting up their time between the two homes. Maya had been adamant at first she wasn't going to get into another relationship, but she had gone back on that word within a couple of months of casual sex.
"I thought you'd never get up." Ash jumped at the sound of Maya's voice. Maya laughed at Ash's reaction, but the laughter slowed whenever she saw what Ash was wearing.
"What?" Ash asked. Even if Ash had been fully focused on getting to the kitchen for coffee, she would have noticed the way that Maya was staring at her. The stare wasn't a bad one, just one that Ash knew meant she'd probably be late getting ready for work.
"You look better in my clothes than I do," Maya said as she got up from the couch. Ash let Maya pull her into an embrace. Maya was still staring at Ash, which made the other woman a bit nervous, so Ash leaned up and kissed Maya. "Although, I have to admit that it's not my favorite thing to see you in."
"Oh, and what would that be?"
"Nothing." Maya grabbed the bottom of the sweatshirt and lifted it up over Ash's head. Ash wasn't completely naked, but a shiver ran down her spine as her torso was left exposed.
"This doesn't really seem fair. You've got all your clothes on, and I'm half naked," Ash pointed out. Maya lifted her up over her shoulder and carried Ash back into the bedroom. Ash giggled as she was tossed onto the bed, and once more again whenever Maya started taking off her clothes.
"Better?" Maya asked. She twisted her body just enough to subtly pose and show off her muscles.
"Much." Ash reached out to grab Maya by the hips and pull her onto the bed.
