The Bad Batch S2 Rewatch: Pabu

Phee doesn't tell the batch what they need as a family. She shows them by example and by letting them draw their own conclusions. She's helping them unlearn thinking strictly as soldiers with tactical objectives. Some examples I picked up during my rewatch:

Phee takes them as far from the Empire as possible, where other displaced families have made a life under the radar.

She puts her "pirating" activities in a different light with the batch by revealing that she's acquiring items for the benefit and cultural preservation of the refugees.

Teaching them by example that helping others is important even if you're not personally affected by their struggles, and:

That the preservation of all cultures and art is worth much more than money.

She introduces Hunter to Shep, a single father who's successful in his career and serves his community while raising a happy, well-adjusted daughter.

Introduces Tech and Wrecker to Shep and Lyanna, regular people who aren't clones and who are friendly and don't judge them. Incidentally, up until they met Suu Lawquane and later, Romar, the batch mostly had bad experiences with the regular citizens of the galaxy (Cid, Rafa Martez, Roland Durand).

Phee introduces Omega to another girl her age, Lyanna. It allows her brothers to see how happy it makes Omega to have a little friend and that it's good for both girls.

Shep teaches them that there's more to being a parent than providing necessities and protection. Fun, hospitality, and playtime also teach kids independence (as well as the batch).

In Shep, a big man with a big heart, generous and caring who enjoys relaxing with friends, Wrecker discovers a friend who accepts him as he is. Others in Pabu also befriend Wrecker.

Tech discovers that much of the knowledge he has can be useful to rebuild communities, infrastructure and help people rather than solely for war.

Phee encourages Omega to explore and enjoy nature and wildlife away from her brothers.

She essentially gives Tech and Hunter permission to relax and take time to enjoy the simple things, like twinkling lights at sunset.

The community effort to work together saved them from the destruction of the earthquake and sea surge. This is a brand new experience for the "trust nobody but your squad" batch.

They learned thst community is vital during unpredictable life events, and:

Staying together as a community and sharing resources provides a sense of safety and security regardless of the circumstances.

It's important as a member of any community to help strangers, children, elderly and disabled, risking your own life to do so. Very different than prioritizing your fellow clones over the local people during combat.

The batch experienced being part of a community, giving more than money: each one shared their time, skills, labor, food, and friendship.

These are just a few of the things that stood out to me.

Wrecker sensing the earthquake along with Hunter was also a surprise. He turned to Hunter just as he looked around, and then Wrecker also turned as well. It made me wonder if he sensed the movement or if he heard the noise that accompanies large earthquakes. And just what abilities their enhancements give them.

It struck me that Pabu is the first inhabited planet the batch has visited that was untouched by war - no garrison, no scarred landscape, no Empire, no clone troopers on duty. It struck me that they've probably never seen what peace actually looks like for the citizens of the galaxy. It's a deeply sad realization.

Right now the Green Rider seems to be a UK effort, but it's something which could easily gain traction internationally.

Riders are a set of clauses that artists often add to their contracts, which relate to specific requirements around issues such as accommodation, nudity or travel. In recent years, they have also included inclusion and diversity on set, though they’ve also been associated with the draconian demands made by high-profile stars who request things like all-white furniture or the use of a private jet. In contrast, Equity’s Green Rider is looking to drive a cultural shift in the entertainment industry — one that veers away from such environmentally hazardous demands. The Green Rider (the full document can be accessed here) can be added to actors’ contracts in order to state their own sustainability commitments, and to negotiate stronger sustainability standards on set before accepting a job. The overarching aim is for the Green Rider to eventually be included in the collective agreements that Equity holds with producers.

Perhaps this is something the striking SAG-AFTRA could raise in negotiations with studios.

remarkably different, and they met in a less hazardous manner, Elia Martell and Lyanna Stark could have formed some sort of friendship. In fact the list may have truly only been this one name who has both the connections and the means to be a deeply advantageous match for the redwyne family to consider and it's been know their attraction to kiraz though its never been reciprocated. y/n was sure that an eventual marriage was in the bag and then when you met with an older brother before his passing were told the betrothal was off, cancelled, ended and that kiraz was not going to entertain any other marriage proposals going forward. No explanation was offered as to why Lord Redwyne was pulling out of the agreement ( your character unaware like the vast majority that she'd married the northern prince in secret ) and since the older brother has passed and her twin is now lord of the arbor and hand of the king your character having not given up the idea of taking her to wife may hazard asking again - it is giving a young robert baratheon / lyanna vibes with a touch of hellfire from hunchback of notre dame . you are not required to contact the mun prior to applying . but if you wish to , you can find them here @redwynters !

Coloring | an Adventures of Daddy Jon fic

Summary:  The girls have never cared about Jon’s tattoo before but suddenly take interest on a rainy day, deciding they need some for themselves...with lots and lots of markers. Shame Jon wasn’t paying attention when he left them to color alone...you think he’d have learned his lesson by now..

Excerpt:

Alysanne picked up a pink marker, twirling it in her fingers. She eyed his shoulder. “Why’d you get it Daddy?”

“Get what?” He scraped the glitter onto a piece of paper and walked it to the trash. He sighed at his hands. Glitter stuck all over his palms. He supposed it was a hazard of living in a house with three little girls.

“The too.”

“Tattoo?”

“Yes.”

“Well…” To be honest sweetheart, Daddy had several ales, lost a bet to your crazy Uncle Tormund, and the next day realized he had to cash in. That was the simplest story. The other story was that he actually wanted something to constantly remind him of where he came from, of his outsiderupbringing, and at the ripe age of seventeen, he wanted to rebel. Robb got one too, of a grey wolf instead of a white one. “I wanted something to always be with me. A wolf, that was what they called me, growing up.”

“Oh.” Lyanna swished her lips around, meeting Aly’s gaze across the table. They both appeared disappointed. “I see.”

He chuckled. “Are you almost done with the paint?”

“Yes. I want to put ribbons here.” She pointed to the princess she’d drawn with Missy’s hair and coloring. She giggled. “For her hair!”

“Ribbons? Well that’s a great idea.” He actually thought there might be ribbons and paper in the basement.

As he leaned over to put the paint away, he felt a cold scrape of something on his shoulder. Yelping, Jon whipped around, to see Rhaella laughing, holding her paintbrush in one hand and a marker in the other. “What’d you do?” he asked, trying not to laugh, but knowing she had just swiped pain on his bare skin. He tried to be stern. “Rhaella! That wasn’t very nice!”

“I wanted to color it.”

“Color what?”

“The too!” Lyanna giggled. She pointed at where Rhaella had painted. “His eyes are red now! Really red!”

“It’s not colored in, you need to color in the lines,” Alysanne said, piping up. She pointed and frowned. “They did not do that Daddy.”

 So I read a couple theories and this one by @muttpeeta stuck out to me and I started thinking about a couple of things.  And yes, the original leaks might be true but I am a delusionist optimist at heart but here goes.  Putting this under a read more because it got long:  Don’t read further if you don’t want spoiled to the ending of the show.  

First off, let’s just consider the fact that they released these for Mother’s Day of all days and they’re pitting the Mother of Dragons and the Mother of Evil against each other for the Battle of the Mad Queens ON MOTHER’S DAY means nothing.  I see you HBO.  I see you.  

I want to discuss the style of the photos first.  They are a renaissance type portrait and were done by Ignasi Monreal who also does a lot of artwork and concept art for Gucci (check out their work; it’s amazing).  

The art for this is very interesting a lot of ways but first we are going to talk about the most important thing:  the fact that Dany’s hand is covering her belly in a protective manner.  First off, this is a very specific type of Renaissance portrait referred to as the “pregnancy pose.”  !!!!!!!  So yes, Dany is very likely pregnant.  Cersei is also holding this pose in her picture and she is known to be pregnant.  

This “Portrait of a Woman in Red” by Marcus Gheeraerts II.  This style of portrait was often done to signify the woman’s role in providing an heir. “ At a time when a wife’s principal role was to bear as many healthy heirs as possible to perpetuate and extend a family’s name and influence, such a portrait would act as a form of visual evidence of anticipated dynastic success. At the same time, the childbirth process was potentially so hazardous that the portrait might also act as a record of the features of a beloved individual who could shortly die.” (x). 

So there’s the good in it:  Dany is very likely pregnant and if the Spanish leaks are to be believed then Cersei is not really pregnant.  Every single thing about her is false.  She is a fake; passes off her bastards as fake heirs; she lies about everything and she is very likely not actually pregnant.  She is the REAL MAD QUEEN.  

Conversely, everything about Dany is good.  She has freed slaves, helped defeat the night king, is the mother of dragons, and there is not a bad bone in her body.  She is very likely truly pregnant and therefore can produce a trueborn heir to the throne. Therefore Dany is NOT the mad queen.  Basically if this is what happens, Dany is revealed to be pregnant with Jon’s child.  

What I think would happen then is that Dany and Jon would decide off screen that they are better off alone and away from everyone as they and their child would never be safe.  How do they know this?  

Dany spent her childhood in exile and was sold off into slavery.  Why?  Because Robert Baratheon wanted her dead.  Jon Stark spent his life thinking he was a bastard because he was the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.  He would have been murdered had his identity been found out.  Their world has rules.  In the Game of Thrones, you Win or you Die.  What if the only way they win is if Danaerys “dies”. 

What I propose is a fake death for Dany, in that part of the leaks might be true. Jon stabs Dany and fakes her death.  Drogon carries her off. To the North, beyond the wall to Jon and Dany’s waterfall.  Jon “takes the black” and goes North.  Tormund actually factually said to Jon the north is in you.  And Jon gives Ghost to Tormund saying the south isn’t right for him.  

Because really, really, really, why was the waterfall scene in there at all.  

“We could stay here a thousand years and no one would ever find us.”  

“We’d be pretty old.”  

They would grow old here together with their child.  Make a home and a life in the far North where no one would ever find them.  Where their child wouldn’t have to be in exile. Or in fear where someone would try to murder them.  Let’s face it:  Both their childhoods were not happy because men or women in power wanted them dead because they were a threat to the iron throne. 

Dany, if pregnant, would not care one bit anymore about the Iron Throne.  Her entire focus would change to protecting her child.   They could live in the North.  Where they’d be safe.

Where they could live out their lives loving one another and their child(ren).  They could easily have filmed this away from everyone’s watchful eye.  Just Emilia, Kit and a handful of crew.  No standersby.  They could have filmed it at the same time as the waterfall scene.  

Because really in context of everything else that has happened this season, that scene is really quite gratuitous and in a show where perfectly good content is cut all the time for time limits, it’s hard to believe that this scene is in there for no good reason other than to give us a beautiful make out session at a waterfall.  It must be foreshadowing.  

Lastly, the frames of the picture caught my eye.  Other than their house sigils, Dany’s has ice around it and Cersei’s has fire.  A Song of Ice and Fire might well also be played upon with the Mad Queen/False Mad Queen theme here.  Cersei’s is covered in fire and fire is even in the background behind her.  We have all heard that she dies at King’s Landing, likely by fire.  So it’s funny that the Dragon Queen who has long been associated with fire has ice in her motif of this Mother’s Day card photoset.  Why ice?  The white walkers are finished and have been.  So icy north backdrop doesn’t really make sense.   These were released May 1st.  This just strengthens my thoughts on all the above.  

And it would make good on the “A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing.”  They would never be alone.  They would always have each other.  Dany, Jon and their little Targling.  

I know I am probably delusional and will probably have my heart broken all over again if the original leaks are true.  But all this just stuck out to me and I thought I’d share.  

Also if we get a better ending than those original leaks, then I will gladly wear my clown mask for all to see.  lolz  xoxoxo

Catelyn was 12 when she was bethroted to Brandon. Many high born girls and boys were bethroted pretty much right after they were born; we can argue about how good that is, that’s a fact you cannot change. Moreover, for example Marie Antoinette was first ‘only’ married by proxy to Louis XVI. Or Joanna of Castille, who also married by proxy and was 17 by the time her marriage was consumated. 

However, Catelyn and Brandon’s marriage was only scheduled when Cat was 18 and Brandon 20; she was born in 264 AC and their marriage was announced in 282 AC.

A power balance in a relationship not only comes from one of the partners being older than the other; you cannot possible be that dense. Rhaegar isolated Lyanna from her family, those who were there to protect her, impregnated a 14-15 year old, knowing full well from his wife that what a health hazard childbirth is, puts her reputation in the garbage for kidnapping and raping her, locked her in a Tower far away from her her home and kept there by armed men until she gives birth, a rather traumatic experience, while her father and brother are getting toasted by said man’s father: even by westerosi standards, that’s a horrible fucking thing to do. 

Yes, it’s fantasy and dragons and shit, but consider this: A fourteen year old girl today meets a 24 year old man with a wife and two children. Even if she swears up and down that she’s in love with him, it’s still a crime for him to take her away from her family and sleep with her. That’s statutory rape. 

Stop being a rape apologist and read the fucking books, if you’re so sure to refer to them.

One of those things, of all things, was the last type of message this massive model citizen and that cup-sized cougar of a couturier ever expected to receive, let alone receive together. Gendrya Prompt Fic: CLUMSY GENDRY

It’s just hear me out, I had a dream of like Gendry being all chill and awesome until he just tripped or stepped in a bucket like he would be talking to Jon about the weapons made and then Arya smiles at him from across the room and he gets out to leave only for his head to hit the one side of the door that wasn’t open. I want Clumsy Gendry tripping on buckets, hitting himself on door frames and dropping his hammer when surprised.

and what would be even better is the fact if it was genetic like Jon would be eating in the Great Hall when Jaime and Tyrion sit down to eat next to him. “You know that blacksmith of yours looks an awful lot like the Usurper” Jon tried not to look too guilty, “So? Looks don’t prove anything” Tyrion grinned, “Yeah I wasn’t even sure until i saw him trip on his own feet to fall into a wagon and slide into the mud after the she-wolf waved at him” 

Jaime laughed, “That Baratheon clumsiness, the most reliable trait to prove real and fake bastards.” He gulps down what is left of wine, “They are inspiring leaders until they get nervous, or near the ones they love and apparently to the stags, that means Starks.” Jon looked intrigued, “But Arya-” “You know Robert fell down a well after him and Lyanna went for a walk? Took 3 knights to get him out and that was when he was a young man.” Jon looked puzzled, “What about Renly and Stannis?” Tyrion looked up, “Well Rely had his own encounter with Robb in a court dinner and lets say he had to be quick stopping that fire as for Stannis, he was too much a bore for love but everyone witnessed him tripping all over the place right before High Council meetings.”

Jon began to notice that Gendry was a good commander but Arya walked in and he was quite a sight. Anything near the poor blacksmith became a hazard to him or others but it seemed that the laughs his sister Arya let out due to him clumsiness was a good reward if the happy smile on Gendry’s face meant anything.

       IT WAS MAYHAPS RECKLESS, irresponsible, thoughtless or foolish to do as he has now but what else is there for the fallen prince to loose? His life should've ended under the blow of the stag's warhammer and yet, his heart refused to stop beating entirely. He knows not what it is that transpired afterwards but somehow in the midst of the chaos that followed his fall and his cousin's loss of consciousness from the wounds inflicted by the dragon prince; his body was retrieved. For long weeks, he agonized between life and death until it would seem even the Stranger refused to give him the sweet freedom and finality of death for his crimes were too grave, too terrible to not endure. And now with the weight of his GUILT upon heavy shoulders, he is to hide his survival for the sake of the siblings that live a life of exile far from home. 

When the rumors reached him, of the bastard Eddard Stark had brought North from the war from an unknown woman, how Lyanna returned with her brother back to Winterfell; Rhaegar could not remain idle. Some few years is all he could wait before venturing on the hazardous journey, not knowing what to expect once reaching the destination. It was on the outskirts of the great castle that he saw her one morn, walking about by herself but he did not approach then, he was not brave enough yet. How was he see her? To look into those grey eyes and speak of his sins? For they were his, he did not blame the she-wolf, he never would—the burden must be all his own. It was on another day, knowing he would walk in the snowy fields again, that he lowered his hood to cover his silver hair and indigo gaze before approaching. Of course she knew who he was just by laying eyes on his form, as if she's seen the ghost of her dreams ( or nightmares ) come to life and how that look HURT. 

All he could do was speak his regret and she responded with ice in her voice, chilling him to the very core with the anger found behind the tone. All of it justified, all of it with reason and all of it expected but it stung no less. And then his breath catches—A SON. Her belly was swollen with child when he marched off to war and her words only confirm the suspicions that brought him here, despite the DANGERS not only for him, but many others. His eyes widen, lips part and the once prince is at a loss. So many queries, so many thoughts that cannot be gathered into coherent words.

          ❝ ...You are right. ❞ The man finally states, wind blowing and pulling the hood of his cloak back a little. ❝ I should've died but death was too sweet a punishment for what I have done. My mistakes will haunt me to the end of my days... And the greatest of them is to know you are to suffer. ❞ It's not difficult at all to know why their son is to take the guise of Ned's bastard—to protect him from Robert—the man who received his other children as a gift of fealty. The thought alone threatens to sicken him, even now but to know that his babe with Lyanna lives... ❝ Our son... ❞ he begins almost hesitantly but there is just the slightest hint of relief, taking a small step closer. ❝ ...What is our son's name? ❞
