It's not exactly a spoiler to point out that HotD Season 1 shows the Targaryens near the height of their power while GoT shows largely the opposite.

A song of ice and fire
- nevaru atrast, šeit nav.
- varu jautāt, ko meklējat?
- troņu spēles SEPTĪTO  grāmatu krievu valodā.
- septītā grāmata nav pat vēl angliski.
- nu jā, es tikai domāju, varbūt ir krieviski.
- septītā nav vēl uzrakstīta!
- ā, jūs esat cienītāja?
- jā, protams!
- kuru šobrīd lasāt? es lasu sesto krieviski.
- ceturto angliski.

« The role that changed my life was in Game of Thrones. I will always credit its creators for taking a chance on someone who had nothing but unknown theater credits and episodic television on their résumé. I still awe at the opportunity that was handed to me by David Benioff, Dan Weiss, and Carolyn Strauss. Without Thrones, I would not have had Narcos, The Mandalorian, or The Last of Us. »
— Pedro Pascal quoted at Vanity Fair.
Game of Thrones was responsible for bringing dozens of underappreciated or little known actors to international prominence. Even people who have never seen an episode of GoT feel its influence through the alumni of the series.

I've avoided posting about the Joe & Sophie split because it just doesn't interest me much in terms of ASoIaF. But Sophie Turner's possible new boyfriend has his own, albeit indirect, connection to Game of Thrones.
Frank Dillane is the son of Stephen Dillane who portrayed Stannis Baratheon for five seasons – until Brienne of Tarth caught up with him.
I don't recall Stannis and Sansa ever being in the same scene. The closest they may have got was when Stannis was leading what was left of his army in a futile attack on Winterfell.
Rumors began to swirl that Sophie and Frank are dating after photos of the duo kissing in Spain began to circulate on September 15. However, the kiss was seemingly professional and was done as they were filming their upcoming ITVX series, Joan. In addition to the kissing scene, Sophie and Frank were photographed spending time in the ocean and smiling while on the beach. [ ... ] Neither Sophie nor Frank have commented on the romance rumors, so it’s possible that they are just coworkers and friends.
So, a potential Stark–Baratheon alliance in the making. 🙂

« I wasn’t afraid of dying. I was afraid of being fired! I decided: 'This is not something that’s going to define me'. I never gave into any feeling of 'Why me? This sucks'. I was just like – gotta get back on it. »
— Emilia Clarke at Harper's Bazaar on how she felt when suffering a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a type of stroke, during filming for Season 2 of Game of Thrones.
She suffered an aneurysm on the other side of her brain two years later during a stay in New York for a stage acting gig.
In 2019 the BBC reported...
This surgery was far more intrusive, meaning her skull had to be opened up. "I looked as though I had been through a war more gruesome than any Daenerys experienced," said Clarke.

A few months ago George R.R. Martin told us that The Winds of Winter was about 75% complete.
If rumors are true about the cover art for the book being done, this may mean GRRM is all the way up to 79%. 😛
Today, however, I come to you with that terrible, wonderful poisoned chalice: Hope. Winter may be coming at last, and just in time for spring. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a “chalice half-empty” kind of guy when it comes to Martin’s novels. I love his writing—just not the pace of his prose.
But now we have this possible cover art for The Winds Of Winter and while it might not be the official cover art for the book it also might be. The artist, Ertaç Altınöz, released the below image a few days ago on Instagram and Art Station and it’s possible this is more than just fan-art. This is, after all, the same artist who did the cover art for The Rise Of The Dragon, the new illustrated book set in Martin’s fictional realm of Westeros.
So if you’re interested, this might be the cover for TWOW.
Tumblr media
I know what you’re thinking. I’m thinking it, too. This is probably nothing, signifying nothing, a bit of fan-art from an artist as hopeful as the rest of us that Martin will finish the damn book and we can all wait another decade for the last one (to probably never come out).
Even if the art doesn’t mean TWOW will be out soon, at least we have something new that’s cool to look at.

Kit Harington doesn't claim to be perfect. He is grateful for having good parents.
"There's not much I'd change, because the mistakes I've made in the world I've found myself in have made me who I am today. And at the moment, I'm happy with myself." Kit also appreciates the support he's received from his parents. The actor explained how his mum encouraged him to pursue his ambitions "in a really intelligent and sensitive way". Kit - who married his ‘GoT’ co-star Rose Leslie back in 2018 - shared: "Their genius in parenting was not to push us into anything but to look at what we were intrinsically drawn by. "So I was never pushed into acting, just as my brother was never pushed into what he did. "For instance, when I was a kid and liked dinosaurs, my mother would buy me everything about dinosaurs. "So when I got older and drama came along, it was her who guided me, 'OK, do you want to go to drama school? Do you want to join the National Youth Theatre, or maybe you want to do this course at RADA?' "She was always there, delicately puppeteering my young life, but in a really intelligent and sensitive way. She's a fantastic woman."
Dinosaurs? That may have prepared him for dragons.
No word yet on that Jon Snow spin-off now that the WGA strike is settled.

Jack Gleeson, the Lannister we all love to hate, showed up portraying a character named "Dodgy Mo" in Sex Education.
Some non-spoiler background...
Jack Gleeson, best known for starring as the vile King Joffrey Baratheon in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones, appears in two episodes of Sex Education season 4 as Dodgy Mo, a mustache-sporting stoner who looks like he might be a pretty fun hang. In the series, Dodgy Mo is the best friend/drug dealer of Maeve’s brother Sean (Edward Bluemel). We don’t want to spoil the whole season, but Maeve (Emma Mackey) is going through a lot and needs her brother, who is spending a lot of time with Dodgy Mo.
Jack Gleeson is not the first GoT alum to appear in Sex Education. Lino Facioli (Robin Arryn) previously showed up in the series.
Anyway, it's amusing to re-imagine Joffrey as a stoner. 😮‍💨

«We can make all the films in the world about climate change but unless we are environmentally conscious in the process of making them, our efforts are superficial.
The media has historically inspired change, so I’m excited about the introduction of this Green Rider and the conversations it will incite.»
— Bella Ramsey (Lady Lyanna Mormont) quoted at HuffPost UK about the pro-environment "Green Rider" which she and other actors support.
Right now the Green Rider seems to be a UK effort, but it's something which could easily gain traction internationally.
Variety reports...
Riders are a set of clauses that artists often add to their contracts, which relate to specific requirements around issues such as accommodation, nudity or travel. In recent years, they have also included inclusion and diversity on set, though they’ve also been associated with the draconian demands made by high-profile stars who request things like all-white furniture or the use of a private jet. In contrast, Equity’s Green Rider is looking to drive a cultural shift in the entertainment industry — one that veers away from such environmentally hazardous demands. The Green Rider (the full document can be accessed here) can be added to actors’ contracts in order to state their own sustainability commitments, and to negotiate stronger sustainability standards on set before accepting a job. The overarching aim is for the Green Rider to eventually be included in the collective agreements that Equity holds with producers.
Perhaps this is something the striking SAG-AFTRA could raise in negotiations with studios.

Tom Wlaschiha  had a good run on Game of Thrones as Jaqen H'ghar. He lasted from Season 2 to Season 6 without his character being killed off.
Mr. Wlaschiha indicated that he wouldn’t mind returning to the GoT universe in some capacity.
How would Wlaschiha feel about going back to Game of Thrones? “Would I ever want to return? As far as I know, it’s over,” he said.
[ ... ]
The star said: “Well, if ever an offer came, I would definitely consider it. It was a lot of fun shooting that show and it was really great, an honour being part of that.
“Although, personally, I’m not a big fan of… fantasy but then again for me, Game of Thrones has always been more Shakespeare than fantasy.” Adding: “The human relations spiced up with some dragons.”
The sequel to Game of Thrones that would potentially be the most interesting is a hypothetical one based on Arya Stark’s voyages around the world. A reunion between Arya and Jaqen would work well in that context. I see that as generating far more interest than one based on Jon Snow moping around in a depopulated wilderness North of the Wall.

Missandei weighs in on House of the Dragon. Though it’s several episodes too late, she had some practical advice for Rhaenyra and Laenor.
It’s not too late to get caught up. The season finale isn’t until October 23rd/24th (depending on hemisphere).
