Introducing the Trussell Trust The Trussell Trust is a charity that supports a nationwide network of food banks. They help provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. Why we’re Showing our Support In April 2020, when the nation went into lockdown, food banks in The Trussell Trust network saw a staggering 89% increase in need, including a 107% increase in the number of children receiving emergency food parcels compared to the previous year. The unparalleled speed and scale of the increase in people needing food banks shows how fragile people’s safety nets are. Increasingly I am seeing posts regarding male domestic violence.

Finally the world seems to be taking note that men can be abused too.

As is blatantly obvious, I kinda like Mr Depp, a bit... 😊. Recently his personal life has been under the microscope regarding the allegations of abuse from his ex wife. (Sorry, I cant even mention it's name)

The more information that comes out regarding this, the more heartbreaking it it gets.

Abuse is wrong, whatever the gender. We as a society have been very quick to believe women when they've come forward with allegations. Often we have just blindly believed them without finding out the truth, and a number of times it transpires that the allegations have not actually been true.

Yet the women who made these allegations quite often disappear and leave the accused man with a ruined reputation, lost family and friends, and quite often their job.

Why do we allow this? Because we dont listen properly.

We dont believe men when they say they've been abused. There's a Jeremy Kyle interview where this guy has had the guts to come forward on national television and say he was abused, and what do the audience do? They laugh.

If that was a woman, that wouldnt happen.

So what chance did someone like a wealthy, talented, attractive actor stand? Nah, he wouldn't be abused, don't be stupid, he has everything a man could possibly want after all - fame, money, women falling at his feet, an island, a private jet, multiple homes, the list goes on... Yet he was accused, with no actual evidence and the world believes her.

Yet the evidence is here of what she did to him, the physical abuse, the mental abuse, the narcissism, the gaslighting, it's all there, and yet... people still choose to disbelieve him?

The disgusting photoshopped picture of him on the hospital gurney, put into a coffin with his abuser standing over him is beyond sick.

Oh the delights of social media eh?

Please, please understand, abuse is not gender related, there is no distinction, whether someone is male or female, abuse is wrong. Domestic violence is wrong.

We need to get better at listening, at caring, at supporting, at just being there for each other.

Maybe then, when someone is suffering, they have somewhere to go... then maybe we can start to end the stigma that abuse generates.

Social media can be a horrible place, so how about we start trying to use it for good? Spread some positivity for a change?

Let's just be kind you have no idea what someone else is going through...
