This both manifests in how he treats others (he's exceedingly well-mannered and does everything for others because he secretly hopes that someday someone will do the same for him) and his career prospects (he takes on excessive practice to get good at football/soccer so that he can potentially get a scholarship and become famous all so he can potenially feel like he's worth something. This is actually a major conflict in his Step 4)

this is sort of random as hell but i can't help but think of like. a funger termina isekai fic. 💀 no but like. FEAR AND HUNGER IS THE WORST universe to be inside, really. it's all misery!!! pain!! suffering!! and i'm just picturing this like, regular person gets transported into the universe and just absolutely loses her shit bc she KNOWS, she KNOWS DAMN WELL exactly how she's screwed, far better than anyone else!! she's played the games dozens and dozens of times, died so many times, and now she's IN that setting, she's in that world, and death is now PERMANENT with REAL stakes. she knows the entire game like the back of her hand, but what does it matter, bc it's fear and hunger. there's only so much knowledge that can help you . .

in my head, in a lot of isekai fic and stuff, ocs tend to like, hide the fact that they know things? but i feel like a modern-day oc who gets transported into fear and hunger would be forced into a position where she has to be honest bc its the best chance of survival. this isn't a game where she can just follow the right steps, recruit the people, get them to do the things, this is now real and dangerous and terrifying, and she knows that she can't do it alone.

i dont see him as a mom friend cuz to me at least theres a specific sort of power dynamic that you need for someone to actually be a mom friend. even if the person acts like a mom friend, if no one else sees them as an authority, it doesnt work. thats what i like about the bees actually , not only is rinne not the mom friend, but there isnt one at all. or any social roles for that matter, because they just dont care. they all see each other as just guys being dudes, no notes attached. including kohaku despite the age gap. the 3 other bees consider him family like they do with each other but they dont see him as "their kid", they see him as an equal. yknow the term "one of the boys"? theyre all like that. theyre all one of the boys and the boys is each other . i went a little off topic sory i love their weird abstract "family in only the spiritual definition of the word but just as meaningfully" dynamic

how do you have so many ideas constantly? i want to write more but i jus t dont really have a lot of ideas on what to write about and it stumps me a lot D:

well, partially because it consumes my life, but my real thing is dialogue and free writing tbh. i almost never have an actual plan when i start writing, i just pick a line to start with and go from there. i can do a little tutorial if that helps??

usually, i start with dialogue. my goal is to start with something interesting or dynamic enough to be read in a certain character’s voice, because that keeps people reading once it catches their eye. that’s why i don’t post titles or anything on my fics. dialogue is the easiest thing to start with, because it guarantees a second line — someone has to respond to that line. i might choose a first line that’s something like this:

“Woah, hey, I wanna try.”

now this can go ANYWHERE. very very open, but it does have restrictions: this dialogue tells us 1) the speaker is observing something, 2) they are observing someone else do it, 3) they are intrigued by the action, so 4) it must be kind of cool, and 5) they cannot yet do it, so 6) whoever they are observing might try and help them. i didn’t have to explain any of that, it’s inherent in the line, right? no matter what you imagine, those things hold up.

next is narrowing this down further. who is the speaker? who are they observing? what are they doing? where are they doing it? to some degree, you have total control here, but i find that in fanfic a lot of these questions are already answered for you. i’m writing solangelo fic, so this opening dialogue is likely from one of two characters (although, if i desired, i could totally go in a very different direction and choose someone else. adding more characters means a longer story, so if i was aiming for something longer, i would).

so who is more likely to be speaking this? who is more likely to speak up when they see something cool, and try it? who is more likely to be doing a cool new thing? to me, that solidifies the speaker as will pretty easily. great. now i have an opener from will, so i can work on nico’s response.

nico’s response can go a lot of ways, especially depending on the setting. if this is post-canon, it might be a little more relaxed, might be established relationship. when i read the dialogue in will’s voice, though, i did end up picturing a bit of a scene, and it went a very specific way. i’ll write some of it first and then explain what i did.

“Woah, hey, I wanna try.”

Nico startles at the voice, tiny bone falling from his hand and sinking back into the dirt.

“Aw.” Beat-up flip-flops slow to a stop right next to him, and Will plops himself down. He shoots a bright, too-wide smile in his direction, eyes crinkling. “Hi!”

“Hi,” Nico says warily, subtly inching away. Will, either oblivious or uncaring to his intention, just leans in closer, blue eyes watching him intently. “…What are you doing here?”

okay SO. with this alone, i’ve established both setting, some character info, and a good amount about their relationship, without stating too much outright. there’s some tension, right? a bit of imbalance! by making nico startle, a few more things become clear: 1) he was alone before Will came, 2) he was not expecting will to come, 3) he was probably no expecting anyone to come, 4) he was either focused or daydreaming, and 5) he is tense/uncomfortable enough to startle at a voice.

some of those questions are answered as the sentence goes on — he was playing around with a bone, probably a raised skeleton. not hard for him, so he was, probably, pretty spaced out. as the scene goes on, i make it clear that nico is absolutely not comfortable around will yet (although not so that he gets up and leaves entirely), so it’s pretty clear that this is right around the blood of olympus, after the three days. i also shove in some of my own small headcanons (like children of apollo being kind of off-putting to look at, too bright, like the sun) for funsies.

from there you can just go off. once you have a solid start like this, you can just write and see what comes up. maybe you like what you get, maybe you don’t! i’ll try and see.

okay im gonna stop here because i ended up writing something decently solid and i want to post it lol. it spiralled & came pretty quickly!!

this is already way longer than i intended, and kind of rambly, so to answer your original question — i have so many ideas because i choose to. i make the active choice to write and post something every night before bed, regardless if i have something prepared. if i do — great! it can be a lot of fun to bring a scene from my head to life on paper. if not, it's still fun to watch a scene almost bring itself to life as i write. i promise that you just have to commit to doing it, commit to the actual act of writing, not writing something specifically. it gets way easier as you go on. when i first started doing this, two years ago for a different blog, i was writing things as short as 40 words. the skill came with practice, with heeding advice, with reading and analyzing what other writers do, but mostly with practice.

just write!! see what happens! and, of course, the best of luck to you!!

go on a rant about nanakis cosmo trial

So I think there's a lot of things to be frustrated with at this part of the story - considering making a whole ass video about my Rebirth thoughts tbh - but Nanaki's trial just sticks out to me as being a really big missed opportunity, especially in regards to building the relationships between the characters.

The first problem is the dungeon itself. In general, Rebirth really struggles with dungeons. It's nice that the Trial feels so geared towards Nanaki, but it's almost geared too much towards him in my opinion, in that Barret really just feels like he shouldn't be there at all. The cave also has all these things going on, and I think it would have flowed better as a trip through dangerous caves to get to Seto - and that in and of itself being a trial - rather than having all these things that Nanaki is supposed to do, which makes it feel like Bugenhagen set them up, but why are they set up like that?

But for me, that's all whatever. Like, I don't like. But again, my biggest problem is the missed character interaction.

Having Nanaki go with Barret, as far as character match-ups go, is pretty good. Nanaki is almost solely a close-range righter, and and Barret is almost solely a far-range fighter. A perfect duo. Here's the problem though: we already had the Barret and Nanaki bonding road trip!

Now, did they bond in the Mythril Caves? No, not really. Another missed opportunity, but you could say that it's because Nanaki is still new to the group and closed off and stuff. Lame excuse, but thoroughly whatever. Which sucks, because in the side quests the game has show not to shrink away from letting characters talk to each other and strike up some good conversations and get to know each other.

So who could have been matched up with Nanaki that would have been better? Honestly, basically anyone. Maybe Yuffie tags along because Bugenhagen thinks she could appreciate the experience - we know from the campfire before that she doesn't really believe in Planetology, so maybe it could be an eye-opening experience for her, and then the teens of the group get to bond. Yuffie is also has some good close and far range attacks.

Tifa just went through a really harrowing experience, maybe she needs some time away from most of the group but also wants to feel like she's helping someone. But, she's also completely close-range, so wouldn't make for the best party.

Cloud would be the boring and easy choice, and he's most close-ranged so bad party match up, but I bet they could still manage to make some good interactions. Again, maybe after Gongaga, cloud needs to be away from the group a bit, or prove that he can trust himself to keep someone else safe.

And then Aerith? I feel like it should have just been Aerith. She's more of a ranged fighter, and she's currently clearly going through stuff trying to figure out how she feels about the fact that she's a Cetra, what that means to those around her, what responsibilities she's supposed to take on. Protecting and helping Nanaki could be great for that! Not to mention, we've seen pieces of their relationship, but it could be nice to build upon that in a duo adventure.

In the end, we're with Barret. Okay, so that's what we have. What could we have done with this? Well, Nanaki sees his dad as a coward, a dad who left him in order to save people. Well, Barret is a dad who left his daugther to save people. In fact, in Marlene doesn't know about AVALANCHE - which she must not because she's just a little baby - then it could look like Barret left because of everything that was happening in Midgar. You could, then, build an interesting and compelling dynamic between Nanaki and Barret - Son of an Absent Father, and Absent Father if not completely by choice - throughout the trial.

But in stead, Barret is just kind of... chilling there. I dont' think he ever says anything interesting the whole time.

That's all to say, big let down booo

Edit: also furthermore you could have built up a really interesting thing by having Barret and Nanaki discuss parents a bit in their first outing so that nanaki doesn’t hate his father out of nowhere, but they don’t do that, which sucks. Also also, during the trial, nanaki is like ‘ugh barret?’ But they don’t have that kind of hate up to that point??? It feels like it comes out of nowhere???

so to whoever wants to read this shit i think wendy doesnt work with anyone else besides stan. if you say "kyle can treat her better!" first of all stfu u kyndy shippers are annoying asf and second of all no he would not. he would clearly get jealous of other guys and he would be really controlling (not in earlier seasons) and lets just be fr for a sec... wendy would either fall out of love or get back with stan again because yknow they always go back to eachother. and plus an arguement between wendy and kyle would be ugly especially if theyre together, they both can get mad asf and the arguement would last ATLEAST a few days. and atleast stan can handle her disagreeing and yelling at him. now lets see who else shes paired with. i wanna talk abt wendy and token. first of all i dont believe wendy ever loved token because we never see theyre relationship outside of raisins. what i believe is that wendy only dated token to try and get stans attention because he did neglect the relationship and maybe she was attention-hungry. and now the final one i wanna talk to about is cartman. i hate wendy x cartman (more than i hate kyndy) because we know it would never work. she even said that she lost all feelings towards cartman after chef goes nanners. and even if you argue and say that they had good chemestry in that episode let me remind you that she ran back to stan at the end of the episode. she clearly hates cartman and clearly would rather killherself than date cartman. i dont think cartman deserves to be with anyone (except maybe yentl) because he's pretty much unlovable.

now onto stan, i dont think he works with anyone but wendy. lets take a look at style. first of all kyle has left stan several times before. he left him for token and he also never helped him with his depression in your getting old. but guess who was there to cheer him up? wendy was. wendy was one of the only people that didnt get sick of him in that episode and it really shows how much she cares for stan. and in you have 0 friends even though wendy was kinda being... weird, stan did listen to her and tried to edit his settings on his facebook.

also i wanna bring up... best friends doesnt = dating.

also i wanna talk abt stendy as a relationship. i think that they might be able to work as friends but as partners is when theyre dynamic works best. girlboss and loser bf. in all honesty stan and wendy might have the best dynamic/healthiest relationship out of everyone. theyve been shown to care about eachother lots of times and in the older seasons was when they really had their cutest moments. modern stendy isnt bad either, wendy is able to forgive stan at the end of the chat gpt episode because she loves him. and stan really cares for wendy too. he went with wendy to see shitty movies just to spend time with her and he also wrote a song for her. stendy is my absolute favorite ship and i hate when ppl make them cheat on eachother. stan would never and wendy wouldnt either. and one thing i noticed is that stan is loyal to wendy, sure he may have had a few crushes on other girls but, he never actually tried to make a move on any of them (except ms ellen) but through out all their break ups, stan never dating anyone besides wendy, which shows he really does love her enough to the point where he would hit on anyone while she was gone

theres 3 main people i wanted to pair stan with. heidi, bebe, and red. first i want to talk abt is red and stan. i feel like they would be more friends than lovers. we dont really see much of reds personality but we do know that she acts like the other girls. stan doesnt really interact with girls that much so we dont really see a certain dynamic between them. another girl i want to talk abt is bebe. bebe is an interstening character, she can be nice, outgoing and funny but she can switch up to be sassy and rude. stan and bebe are like the listeners/jocks of their groups. they both have their hobbys that go on the field (stan plays football and bebe is a cheerleader). i feel like stan and bebe would be besties shit talking everybody. and lastly i want to move onto heidi. i feel like they could work as an alternate incase stan and wendy have a permenant break up (lets be honest thats never happening). i feel like heidi likes/ is fond of stan. she went up to him for advice abt cartman and he's probably the one that knows cartman the least. and in the bracelets episode he asked her for glue which i find funny. and i feel like their love of animals would help them bond.

oh i ADORE this idea so much!!! arghhh i love astrea family dynamics so much and i really really like each member - though of course i hope we learn more about louanna soon!!! im so curious about her and everyone in the family BUT her is at least decently fleshed out already!! but yes okay this idea is great and also Everyone in these reddit threads have brainstormed all kinds of ideas for Other Astrea Members Falling Comatose (heinkel, reinhard, theresia, or wilhelm) far far better than i could so if anyone seeing this hasnt seen those i highly recommend reading!! super fun ideas going on <3

but yeah my quick two cents on heinkel specifically going comatose is that, like people have mentioned in those threads that stuff would happen differently. marcos doesnt rejoin the royal guard, reinhard probably doesnt get the dp of mind changing, wilhelm might die to the whale instead since heinkel isnt around to get sent on a suicide mission and wilhelm Would Not Back Down from that, etc etc. or did theresia get sent to kill the whale right away while wilhelm like in canon went to deal with the royal family?? that sort of thing.

i think ultimately we dont 100% know what would happen on the louanna side of things just because. we dont know anything about how she was as a person hah so hard to predict!! but i think things would probablyy turn out a little better given everything i just mentioned. and also the bar for how canon went is super low anyway aljsdfl. but yeah i mean louanna seems like she might cope a little better (i mean. shes Probablyy not the type to fall into alcoholism right haha). or she might Also Cope Badly, depending on how you wanna interpret this. and depending on how louanna turns out to be as a person. and Someone is still gonna die to the whale probably. so things are Not That Great and also heinkel being comatose means he wont be head of the house. louanna in this situation either way would need to take charge - both in the sense that uh, in the end it'll just be her and one of reinhard's grandparents left around, and also in the sense that she is reinhards only parent left now. and also reinhard Might get a bit more pressure to hurry into the royal guard sooner. he'll get compared to his comatose MIA dad im sure :(( esp since heinkel is. frozen in time.

Heyy! just found your acc and I am absolutely loving it here. idk if you'll read or reply to this but im writing this just because im kinda disheartened seeing some of these jikooker's behaviour. like i get it, we should always be open to the possibility of jikook being in a relationship with someone else but to see them dropping jikook in a matter of seconds after one shady grainy video drops is just... some are still adamant that jungkook does infact have a girlfriend. I've been seeing so many "jikook broke up", "jikook just bros", "jikook poly", "jikook were just fck buddies" it feels like these jikookers are just heavily insecure and somewhat believe certain taekookers' theories as they've been going off about how jikook haven't been close in 2023 and they are no longer 'glued together' just because we don't see it.

i agree that nesta needed to actually apologise to the IC, but what about them? dont they have some apologising to do to her too? its not like they were all saints who never provoked her or said/did something when she was quiet. feyre was the only one completely innocent when it comes to nesta. but amren, mor, rhys, and cassian??

I never said they didn’t have apologising to do too 😅 they definitely do. they shouldn’t have forced her to do anything, and quite frankly, I wouldn’t have. I get why she was forced to go and train with cassian for the plot, but let’s be honest about how things would have been realistically:

feyre and elain reach out constantly to nesta, invite her to events, which she barely attends if ever if she’s not being bribed over her rent money.

cassian reaches out, constantly, only to be hurt and upset and shut out every single time.

nesta takes dealing with her trauma into her own hands by sitting in tubs of freezing waters and enduring the sound of fires, and lets nobody in about what’s bothering her.

she continues to spend a lot of the courts money on alcohol, and for whatever reason, this is not unacceptable to rhys and feyre.

if she wasn’t cassian’s mate and there didn’t need to be a plot for a book, it would have been one page over and done like this:

“you’re going to train with cassian.”

“I don’t want to.”

“fine, then get a job on your own and pay for your own unhealthy habits. because we’re cutting you off. you never come and see us, you’re ungrateful, you’re mean, and you don’t act like family so why should we treat you like family? you’ve made it very clear you want nothing to do with us, so off you go. stay in this court, go to another court, you do you. bye.”

“fine, about time you got off my back.”

and the book would have ended.

so, they all definitely owe her some apologies. they forced her to deal with her trauma in a way that suited them when she was handling it how she wanted to. she has an immortal life span, she would’ve cracked under the weight of knowing everyone was starting to hate her; she would have eventually processed it all.

they just wanted her to heal on their timeline, not her own, and I think that is unacceptable too. it’s one of the things that just ruins the cass and nes dynamic for me in ACOSF.

so yes, they definitely owe her apologies too. they’re not innocent and she’s not the one bad guy, it’s just that I don’t condone the way she treats them. they went about it all wrong, but in the end, they did just want to help her. in the end, they used the wrong methods trying to show their love. she actively set out to hurt and upset people at every possible chance she got to validate her own hurt and upset. I get that you’re in pain nesta, but that doesn’t give you the right to put everyone else in pain too. it ruined nesta’s character for me, who I was pretty fond of up until then.

I think ACOSF should have gone more like this:

feyre and rhys tell nesta she has to go and train, or she’s cut off. nesta gets mad, tells them fine, she’ll make it on her own, she doesn’t need any of them, matter of fact it’ll be a relief to be left alone because she never wanted this happy little fae life anyway.

nesta attempts to make it on her own, but she struggles a lot. she gets a crappy job that leaves her no time to drink her troubles away or meet anyone, she’s barely making ends meet. this sucks. plus, all she hears is gossip about the happy little high lord and lady and their baby on the way, cassian and azriel and the inner circle, and rolls her eyes when her coworkers can’t see, they don’t know who she is.

she wants her free rent money back so she can go back to drinking all night sleeping all day. she hits rock bottom after having a panic attack one night after a nightmare etc, and gets the grand idea. the idea that all she has to do is pretend to show a little effort at training but ultimately make it seem like “oh no, it’s not working, well at least we tried!” and everything goes back to normal.

when she goes to talk to feyre and rhys, rhys tells her hell she can climb the stairs to the HoW and ask cassian if he’s still willing herself, it’s not their call to make.

“fine I will.” moment.

crawling her way up 10,000 stairs, she’s a mess, she’s sick, it takes so fucking long and she’s literally crawling when she makes it to the top. cassian heard her coming and is standing there with his arms crossed.

they argue a bit but he agrees to train her. however, he sees right through her and know what she’s aiming for. an easy ride or drinking here and half-assing training before giving up. so, he lays down rules.

no drinking.

you work too, in the library.

you cant leave with me or az.

you want to leave, there’s the stairs. but it took you twenty hours to drag yourself up then this time, so if you want to go out, fine, but if you’re not back in time for training the next morning, deals off.

she is NOT facing those stairs again, so fine. and now we can start into ACOSF events where she meets gwyn and emerie and they train and etc etc. nesta would find herself more and more wanting to actually stay, to be here and be a part of this. cassian and azriel knew her plan all along, as did rhys and feyre. they all saw the state she was in, desperate for a drink and completely broken. if she came to them herself at rock bottom and healed herself, it would’ve been so much better. no need for that moment where she ruins it all for feyre because she’s feeling like being horrid. her and cassian could’ve had a moment hiking in other ways.

hugely less toxic way to do it, where nobody needs to hurt anybody. idk.

How exactly did she get here? Abby thought as Owen was kissing her, eyes wide open unmoving under his touch

It didn't feel right, none of it felt right, not unless it was y/n. His hands weren't gentle or soft like yours, they didn't know her body the way you did. They were not welcome.

Yet she stayed, why exactly she was unsure. Maybe she was just pathetic trying to move on from someone she had assumed died.

She should've looked for you, tried harder, done everything in her power to get to you. She missed you so much.

Owen pulled away, noticing her lack of interest in the kiss.

“What's wrong”

“Owen we can't keep doing this”

“What? Why?”

Now Abby was a blunt person so she did not hesitate to say.

“I don't love you”

“You don't have too we are just having fun”

“Well it's not fun anymore”

Owen looks at Abby with an annoyed expression

“Is this about your dyke ex?”

“The fuck did you just call her?”

Owen put his head in his hands, groaning.

“This was a mistake.” 

Owen gave her an empty stare, she turned facing away from him and he walked away.

Ellie and y/n didn't make it very far on the horse, Shimmer started to grow tired and needed rest as well as food and water. This was a blessing in disguise as going too far would make it difficult to meet up with Abby again. 

However, this was the one time in your life where the greatest emotion you experienced was ambivalence. You loved Abby, but she was so willing to sleep with her ex when you went missing. You could see by the way she reacted by the sight of you, that she loved you too, Owen was likely a distraction, but you knew the power you had over her. In your time together she had been emotionally closed off to basically anyone else but alone it was always

“y/n I missed you”

“y/n I got this for you, I hope you like it, it reminded me of you!”

“y/n don't you ever leave me, I love you”

You'd appear in a room and she was instantly weak in the knees, and you knew that. Anything you wanted or needed she would provide without you having to ask. She was your lover but she was also your best friend and the moments you had with her were your most cherished memories. So it made literally no sense, how could she have been with Owen? She never alluded to having any attraction to him after they had broken up. And so, you equated it to being absolute, unescapable desperation. 

She must've been desperate to have gotten with someone else.

At the same time, you questioned your sanity, did Abby have the right to move on since youd been missing for so long?

Hmmmm no, definitely not 

That is what the toxic part of you thought. She wasn't allowed to love someone else. And if she did, she would always be reminded of you as the best girl she's ever had. She certainly treated you like you were. You'd always treated her like she’d crafted the moon, the stars, the night sky just for you. 

“If she wanted to she would”  was always your mindset, the adoration always went both ways, The relationship you had was beautiful. But was it time to let it go? To mourn it?

“y/n? You okay? You seem kind of lost in thought” Ellie questioned from her place on the floor beside a resting Shimmer. 

“Yea I kinda am lost in thought”

Ellie adjusted herself so she was across from you, knees brushing against each other. Her expression was open as if to say “Talk to me, I’ll listen” 

“I'm having a hard time feeling… like I need to let some things go”

Ellie gave an awkward smile, “Oh I kind of hold onto grudges so I'm not the best with that but if you wanna talk I'll listen!”

“I just need to move on from the past, I guess. It's just difficult” You mumbled, fiddling with your necklace.

Ellie nods urging you to continue

“I really miss how my life used to be.” 

“Oh, I see” Ellie says, “What about it do you miss?”

“I miss the people, I miss the comfort of having a place of feeling like I belonged”

Ellie considers this for a moment before looking at you with the most genuine loving expression youd ever gotten from her

“You do belong, you belong with me.”

You flushed, did Ellie even realize the connotations of what she was saying? At your embarrassment she also turned bright red.

“Oh! Uhmm I meant like… you always have…., uhhhhh. Fuck” Ellie hides her face in her hands clearly humiliated by her own words,

An awkward silence.

“You always have a safe place with me, is what I meant”

That night you didnt leave until you were sure Ellie was in a deep slumber, you then snuck off.

Abby waited inside the tower,heart pounding and sweating. Nervous as ever. She’d kicked everyone out, only wanting to be alone with you.

When you made it up she snapped all her attention to you, a gas lamp lighting up the room.

“You came”

“Yea, kind of had too” You sat down next to her on her sleeping bag.

She watched you, every breath you took, every movement you gave and every part of you could see with the dim lighting of the lamp she took in.

“I missed you”

You didn't say anything, she tried again to start a conversation

“Where were you?”

“I've been staying in a town named Jackson. With a friend”

“Oh”

“Yea” The air was tense.

“Why… Why didn't you look for me? I would’ve looked for you, fuck, I was looking for you”

“I tried but Owen was pissy and-”

“Oh don't give me that bullshit, if you loved me you wouldn't have let anyone stop you”

That one hit deep, Abby loved you, she adored you, she needed you and she felt horrible for not looking hard enough, for trying to replace you with Owen when he could never amount to you.

“I didn't know if you were alive, and if you weren't, I couldn't handle the thought of finding you lifeless or worse.”

“You were scared”

“Terrified… y/n I cant, I can't handle losing you again” She spoke with a shake in her tone matching the trembling of her hands.

“I tried being with Owen to move on but I can't, I love you, I never stopped loving you”

Abby was looking at you now, searching for a reaction

“I just wanted to forget how much I missed you but I couldn't, not when nothing felt right or natural the way It did with you. Every time he touched me It wasn't the same, and it could never be the same because you are the only one I've ever wanted, ever needed, ever yearned for. And I'm sorry I didn't look harder, I should've crossed any limit to find you. I regret it more than anything. I just want my girl back by my side again” 

Finally you broke, tears of last night clouding your vision, Abby pulled you into her seeing your face drop and you allowed yourself to lean on her.

“So you don't love him?”

“I could never love him the way I've loved you all these years, and a few months a part could never change how deeply I feel for you”

“ I love you too, I missed you so much Abby '' Sobs wracked through your body, and she held you tighter than ever as if you'd disappear if she let go. 

“I really hope you can forgive me, I will spend the rest of my days trying to make it up to you y/n”

“Abby you can't go back home”

“What?” Abby turned to you with a lost expression, wondering about the sudden change in conversation.

“You can't go back to seattle.”

“What are you talking about?”

“The man you killed, Joel, there was a girl there she watched it happen right? The guy who killed your father”

“Yes but what about it?”

“She is going to kill you.”

the thing about. okay so when i first got into dr i was like ‘i think i prefer an outcome where they ultimately cant wake the other ten members of their class and its just the five survivors because then the deaths meant something yknow’ and while i still think that that kind of thing has. yknow. merit and value. i have actually come around to preferring them being able to do it. with one massive caveat.

it takes forever.

it takes at least a year and a half, two years maybe, before they (lets be real, hajime) even gain the knowledge of the system, work out its quirks, beef up its security and tech, connect it to enough power, and build the proper technology to manage something like this, and even then, each person is going to need a unique plan of action. its going to take ages. i think its best if they start from the first death through the last, which has the added benefit of waking the impostor first and gaining a good moral compass and grounding presence. but… i mean. its almost two years before they even manage the first dive into their brain. two years of living alone, just the five of them, of building each other up of building a dynamic, one that works, and of changing and growing because they have no other choice.

so when it comes down to them actually attempting to wake the first person… theres some anxiety. theres some worry. theres a lot of ‘this is going to radically alter how we relate to each other and everyone else’. theres a lot of ‘this is going to make things weird’. theres a lot of ‘theyre not going to understand a lot of things at first not only because its been two years since we all went under and everything has changed in that time but also because the five of us have a fundamentally different relationship now with each other than we will have with anyone else we wake up. thats going to cause conflict’.

and i dont even necessarily mean that in a romantic relationship sense (though if you know me you know im deeply unwell about kuzuhina and also an absolute sucker for polycule shit so yeah i do also kinda mean it in that way), but just that their bond is so strong. living alone on an island in the middle of nowhere for two years with just four other people will do that. they know each other in fundamental ways that the others may never manage. fuyuhiko may get peko back, but her relationship with him will never be the one he has with hajime, or akane, or kazuichi or sonia. sonia will get gundham back, but despite them definitely regaining their romantic relationship (after an adjustment period, of course), there will be an odd dissonance in how well hajime and akane know her in ways gundham doesnt. akane will get nekomaru back in her life. but he will never be the person she goes to with the things she goes to hajime with.

this isnt necessarily entirely negative, of course. relationships are always going to be different with different people because theyre. yknow. different people. but i think theres going to be a period of time, maybe even the rest of their lives, where the ten sleepers in the vault will understand, intrinsically, that the relationship the five survivors has is never going to be fully understood, and will always be special and different from what they all have as a group.

hajime, fuyuhiko, kazuichi, akane, and sonia all faced arguably the hardest parts of the healing process, the stumbling blindly with no hand to hold except the others with an equal lack of sight, together, and that. does things. to a relationship.

they will all manage the healing process, and they will all struggle through it. but never in the same way those five did.

I absolutely love Crowley too!! I never thought about Jack as a replacement for him, but I see where you're coming from.

The thing about Jack is he brought a whole different dynamic for team free will, narratively speaking. He reshaped all of them, bringing a lot of new story territory. When i first watched s13 I remember that I noticed and loved how much Sam's soft approach towards Jack made me appreciate him once more, reminding me why I love Sam so much. His own storyline had been weaker up until that point, but when he decided to take care of Jack, fighting for him and taking upon himself the responsibility of a child (the way Dean had done for him), that was a huge step for the character. It was growth, and it shed some very much needed good light on Sam and his good empathetic heart.

For Dean, Jack brought an intersting conflicting dynamic. I love the initial opposition that seeing Jack triggered in him, for the way it underlined his grief of losing Cas. I think seeing a character like Dean, who had always been collecting stray kids, and whose main role since he was a child had been that of the caretaker, struggling so much with Jack, was very interesting. Because Jack is a mini Cas. He's Cas's kid. And so, Dean's kid. He's not his brother, or a stray kid that he can befriend providing a parent-like care (like with Claire or Kevin, in a way). Jack is, in every way possible, more like a son. And for that, it gets harder. One gets meaner sometimes, because it's family. And it's not fair, but in the dynamics of the show, in the portrayal of family that we've seen, and that the boys have grown into, it's as real as it gets. And one makes mistakes. Dean certainly made so many mistakes with Jack, and he sometimes went way too far (like when he said Jack wasn't family in the end of s15 and then the show ended and never let him eat his words to Jack - but again, there's a lot of things that the show never let Dean say in the end...), but still, one can't deny that he cared about Jack and that his introduction didn't bring new flesh for Dean's storyline.

I don't need to explain how Jack affected Cas' storyline. It was simply wonderful to see. To witness Cas genuinely develop a father side and learn a different, completely selfless kind of love. All of that love had always been in Cas, but I think Jack brought it to surface even more, and who knows, maybe that's even what helped Cas realize that his feelings for Dean were different, romantic. Because he now had something else that was just as strong, but felt completely different to compare it with.

Ultimately, I think the point is that Jack kind of brought the whole team together even more strongly. He was like glue that kept them together, in a way that felt even more impossibly like family. And that's why i think it's so beautiful, and why his introduction was a great move that gave new life to the show.

With Crowley... they did him dirty. He was such an interesting character but towards the end the writers stopped caring about him and his storyline had become stale. His main feature, his wit, had been turned against him when they had him do a couple of stupid things (the whole storyline with Lucifer), and they just demeaned his character until he killed himself. And while i love that he was the one to do it, and for a good cause, to save our boys, his sacrifice was ultimately rendered useless too since Lucifer didn't even stay trapped but escaped and kept bringing problems.

I think the wiriters got a little bored with the character and didn't really know what to do with it, but they should've given him a refresh instead of killing him. I would've loved a storyline where he became a real part of the team. Imagine team free will being formed by hunters, a nephilim, an angel and a demon? Seeing Crowley become one of the good guys (while still being a demon) might've brought a lot of interesting story territory for them. The constant diffidence. The struggle to constantly prove his loyalty and gain their trust and approval, his relationship with Rowena developing in all this... it would've been fun. I'm thinking it might've been something like Spike's storyline in Buffy's fourth season (for those who are familiar with the show).

OR, imagine if they had him develop on what s8 started, and had him be cured as a demon and become human. Either by his own free will or by force. I'm imagining him somewhat like Endverse Cas, some sort of pariah, maybe hiding away as a hermit with a life crisis, that could've been treated both in a funny way, but also with some real moments of depths. With the Winchesters coming to look for him for his knowledge, seeking help and finding him in a sea of bottles, depressed and purposeless and overwhelmed by feelings, until they gave him something to fight for, a reason to get up, and eventually he might have become part of the team.

That's what I would've done, and I think either solution would've been better than what his character got, but anyway. 😅

I'm not sure i understand how Jack's absence would be linked to Cas being revealed God, since Chuck had already been established as God by the time Jack arrived (are you talking about Godstiel?) but anyway I see your general vision about Cas being God and being in love with Dean and... yes, oh, yes, that definitely would've been something. I'm thinking about Dean's "Cas? Are you God?" and that would've been sweet. Instead we got a different kind of God who was still obsessed with Dean, but unluckily, not in a good way.

But again, every show needs conflict, so we couldn't have it the sweet way. Just like the characters, we were doomed from the start.

3 x callie is like. top tier. its so good. like you just know 3 and callie would goof around together. especially the splat 1 version of 3??? like their dynamic would be top tier. and i just know 3 would whisper stuff to callie and they would giggle about it and refuse to tell anyone else what they are laughing about. and i am always a rarepair enjoyer. like. its so good. (i ship callie x marina x pearl so you know im masochistic when it comes to my ships)

AND 4 X MARIE??? i know this one is a bit more well known but i love it. i dont know if i would ship my main agent 4 with my main interpretation of marie, but like another version of them? yes. it works so well. marie is literally in love w 4.

BUT OK ANOTHER RAREPAIR: 4 x callie. i know everyone loves 3 x 8 cuz blah blah 8 beat up mind controlled 3. but ??? 4 beat up mind controlled callie and we got NOTHING from the fandom. im mostly a 4 x 8 shipper at heart but this is another one i rlly like. i just know 4 would try to show off by picking smth heavy up or doing some cool trick only to fail miserably. and callie would be able to do it first try.

and i have even more opinions on different idol ships and combos but uhh thats for another day when someone wants to listen to my ramblings lol

anyway in conclusion i love rarepairs and pretty much every splat ship so yeah feel free to talk to me about them any time. i love figuring out character dynamics and all that. also everyone has such good designs everyone looks good together. also just like. non romantic pairs as well. like ppl who have sibling dynamics. ppl who are clearly in a qpr. ppl who are besties. apprentice and mentor dynamics. i just think every splat character is so interesting on their own that pretty much every combination is top tier. and like. things dont have to mutually exclusive when it comes to relationships. im a multipshipper.

and i think the same goes for other dynamics. like in my mind one version of neo 3 and 3, 3 sees neo like a younger sibling and spoils them and doent want what happened to 3 to happen to neo. in another version 3 sees neo like a younger version of them and tries to toughen them up and neo sees it as unfair and there is angst while 3 has to confront everything they went thru and if it was even fair for them to have gone thru it. cuz in their mind ofc its ok to do this to neo, its what 3 did to become the way they are. in another version they are just besties. in another version they are dating. in another version they have a competitive love/hate relationship and argue a lot about whos better.
