reblobbing to say i guess i am p much hiatus-ing rn, i've just been so exhausted lately with work that i haven't found time to come online. it sucks because even when i feel motivated, it's hard to really think of words and im finding myself sort of stumped at finding the words to describe what's in my head. i can't even draw as i've lost my tablet pen as of late (gutted, rip tabbo). so, im just gonna continue staying away until i've found energy / time; i'd say i'd be on discord but honestly it intimidates me so i may look at revamping there just to get things in order.

BASICALLY, im just taking a little break til i find some energy to be around again more. i hope everyone's good <3

a plot i'd love to do is a spurned / greedy heidegger being talked into assisting rufus in assassinating president shinra. like, i read a theory once that rufus murdered shinra using a replica blade (bla bla, bullshit but bare with me) and it just got the ol' noggin joggin

i couldnt see heid actually assisting with the murder of his bff but i COULD see him being tricked / talked into by a crafty turk or rufus himself. maybe something happens that irks heid enough to have him take part or even a promise of another war (remake rufus seems ok with war???) or perhaps even the promise of MORE power / influence. bUT, i would absolutely be down for this plot to be something that is more underhanded and full of betrayal aka characters openly lying to one another and falling for it. a game of thrones kind of - i will fuck you over and you fuck me over kind of deal.

i'd love to write something like this; doesn't have to be full of action or drama, but just a slow paced, thriller-esque plot with a tonne of twists and turns. a story like the below structure:

gaging / weighing up heid as a potential comrade -> suggestive / some sort of deal made (maybe some secret meet up in wall market or somewhere - both characters disguised! that kinda thing) -> the doubt / suggestion that the characters don't trust each other -> the action and outcome etc

eyes, annoyed dart toward the blonde – teeth grit with rage barely hidden beneath the disguise of a sigh. he resents the other’s honesty, resents the truth of it and as much as heidegger would wish to deny such sorrow, rufus is right. like cockroaches, AVALANCHE continue to fester; they remain alive despite bleeding so much blood. in his heart, he admires it – looks on such determination with a nostalgic sort of admiration. rouses memory of those once worthy of a fight; but in his heart exists a pain, too, an agony that reminds him of failure. an ache that would have hanging his head in shame, eyes following the cracks in the floor as to avoid looking to his superior.

when he feels blue eyes boring into the back of him, only then does he face the president’s words – offer him an answer with the same steadfast tone once held by a front line commander of war. as if transported back there, his expression bares the aged scars of a man somewhat still there.

honestly? (and somewhat predictably), I’d imagine for heidegger – he found it very impressive and admirable. like, he’d openly admit his own mistake of assuming tseng to be this untouched / unblemished / never seen war before sorta guy. heidegger would see those scars and he’d have that sudden realisation that tseng HAS been through it, he HAS struggled and bares the scars of war (much like heid).

he’d admire him – not openly, not outwardly – but he would.

there would be a new found, unspoken sort of respect. you know that whole, like, manly nod of the head – a silent appreciation? it’d be like that. heidegger wont ask questions, he wont trace scars with fingers or say ‘WOW THAT’S COOL’ out loud.

he would just silently find himself with a new found appreciation of the other. heidegger’s serious silence in response to tseng baring all would speak words enough of the director’s admiration for tseng’s sacrifices / scars.

IN TERMS OF TSENG - i said in my last little essay that got deleted (lolcry) that i loved your exploration of tseng's response to trauma, his potential masochism and the representation of gender / how he presents himself. i said that i love the way you tackle these things and add this intrigue to the character that the game doesn't necessarily give in terms of his reaction to being wounded / going through these traumatic events etc. i also said that i love our relationship between heid / tseng, expanding more than just 'oh they hate each other'. i love that we've made them two guys who fucking take their ANGER out on each other. like, their version of unwinding is a fight club style car park fight - i LOVE that. it gives me ichi the killer vibes in terms of just having these two characters explore their sadomasochism with each other. not even necessarily in a sexual way, they both just wanna take some anger / insecurity out and i LOVE writing that with you.

i wrote a similar thing for moogs when i was sperging all over the place about taking unloved / underrated characters and shaping them / loving them in a way that made them you're own / did them justice and hot damn, you're a good example of this with genesis. NOW, i don't know if i've said to you before BUT like -

i was never a genesis fan, dont get me wrong - i was never an active hater or anything but like, his character just wasn't someone i was super into. you know how i am with the pretty boys, lol. but the way that you write him makes him interesting for me - like, you don't divert from canon or anything, you do his canon a lot of justice and in my opinion, improve upon it. like, you make me interested in a character i wasn't otherwise super into. but i see your portrayal and i wanna know more, i wanna delve deeper, i wanna have him socialise with my boys and see what happens between all of them. i love that you have him be all theatrical and fun and charming but also you give him a little foreboding, like, enough angst for us to know that this a guy kinda wrestling with his mortality / humanity. i love that.

and in terms of you, max - when have you not been chill a/f and cool as hell to chat with. your puns are fire, your personality is fire, your muse is like, literally pretty much fire ( think the lil fire from howls moving castle lol ). all in all, you're very rad, very fun to talk to and i'd always point people in your direction if they want a fun ff rper / amazing gen to follow and write with !

no longer distracted, the sleeve of his coat providing a suitable guard for his skin – he shoots a glance her way. looks once, then twice – spares a double take for the brightly coloured creature sitting at one of the terminals. gaze held, he observes her for a moment; fingers rapidly tapping against keys as if she’s one of the great pianists performing their masterpiece – of course, it sounds less stellar than such a thing – the tapping actually quite irritating – but in his dumbfounded stare, heidegger ignores such a sound.

he clears his throat, shifts eyes to a soldier nearby.

“…the staff are getting younger and younger…” he hesitates, holds onto the thought for a moment “or…perhaps i’m just getting older-“ a crack in his expression, the quirk of a smile. “gyah-“ he laughs, louder enough to surely alert her attention – his words, almost certainly, enough to rouse a look from the girl “trust hojo to go hiring goblins; that man is as incompetent at recruitment as he is science! gyahahaha!”

heidegger cocks a brow - dons a smirk when he turns to face the scientist. with a heavy hand placed quickly on the boy's shoulder, a subtle squeeze of muscle accompanying the director's words.

"yes-" he nods "though..." his smile wanes, his grip loosening "metaphorically, of course." strangely enough - it's sometimes hard to remember that the boy is cyborg. another of hojo's creatures, this one slapped behind the skin of a human. to think on it would unsettle the general, and so he simply decides not to.

"haven't you ever felt anger, chadley-" he pries, probes in the hopes of getting a rise from the boy - after all, he really did seem to be more human than human. "ever...wanted to hurt someone? or punish them?" he takes a breath, crosses arms over his chest alongside a shrug of his shoulders. "i'm no philosopher-" he really isn't "but, we all have something inside of us-" inside of himself - he almost isn't sure. a demon, perhaps?

he silences himself for a second before shrugging his shoulders, a half-laugh ( though one serious ) laced along his lips as he speaks. "if it's a wolf-" he hums, his tone and his words not too far from the young man he once was. highly-educated, sometimes poetic. a wealthy boy who had gone to a private school and studied the world - a boy who had exchanged lavish wealth for the grit of the military - no time for philosophy when one is a soldier. a man. "it's always worth feeding it."

MAROON. how does your muse deal with complexity and conflict in their relationships?

heidegger is a simple man (lol), well – he is and he isn’t! on one hand, he’s the sort of man who I DO see as very complex and that reason is largely why I’ve tried to expand on canon so much / create so many stories surrounding him. i am kind of going on a tangent right now but I see military men as very interesting / complex. especially those who served in war; so technically, I DO see him as complex. but on the other hand I also see him as simple in his means of thinking / dealing with things outwardly. while Heidegger might have inner conflicts personally when it comes to things, he does not reveal these and he will barely make these known outside of a sigh or a grunt.

SO, with that mind – to answer the question – heidegger is so up-front / apologetic in the way he presents himself that when it comes to dealing with more complex relationships, he’s very black and white in practicality / execution. he will answer with a very straight answer, he will refer to his relationship with others as a simple ‘good’ or ‘bad’. for example, his relationship with Rufus. he will die for that man and protect him with his life / serve his every command BUT deeply? Behind it all? He almost certainly thinks he’s a pain in the ass and kind of a dick – he’s not ‘besties’ with Rufus anytime soon, but if asked by the media / in general what he thinks of Rufus – he’d say he’s great, good president, 10/10 bla bla.

the point I’m trying to make is that surprisingly, heid lets a lot of shit slide and he can generally be amicable / fine with someone whether there is conflict in their relationship or not. yes, he’ll make the odd shitty comment ( sorry reeve and tseng ), yes, he will perhaps mock them openly to others ( sorry hojo / palmer ), but would he go on a crusade against someone he dislikes / has mild issues? no, he’s not going to waste his time on that.

like Heidegger is passionate and he’s forthright about his belief but, contrary to fandom belief, he is professional and he’s not necessarily going to let his personal feelings impede upon his professionalism (hence why he hasn’t headbutted hojo yet lol).

literally, your love, appreciation, passion, spirit and just fuckin general FEEL for roche has always, ALWAYS been something ive loved and admired. i feel that your passion for roche is similar to my weird obsession with heid - but it's so much more articulate / well-rounded / thought out. you have this way with roche, like, you adopted him back then as your bab (unloved by the fandom but adored by you) and i just love that so goddamn much. your analysis of his character and headcanons are something i absolutely cannot get enough of. when i saw him in game, i found myself thinking 'i wonder what moogle thinks of this choice, or that choice-' i saw certain things and desperately wanted to message you but didn't wanna spoil you so i laid of. HELL a part of me was close to grabbing shots of the keyring (you know the one lol) just to send you cause i saw it and literally said 'moogle would love that shit'.

it's just so heart-warming to me to see somebody have a passion for a character others 'don't like'. a lot of characters get an unfair rap from people, be they og fans w/no time for those characters or remake fans who just want to shit on any character they dont like (srsly the chadley hate actually makes me fuckin twitch). despite it, you power on. you love this character unapologetically, you're passion overrides any losers dislike for the character. that gets a big fuckin high five from me

AND in terms of writing - your writing is just so magical. you write professionally and a lot of the time when replying to you, i find myself taking a minute to take in what you've read and savour it - you know like homies do with a fine glass of wine? its like that. im huffing that writing and swirling it round my glass like, 'gosh DARN the good cush-'. you're so insanely talented, and your art, too! everytime i see it, im like snorting it up. you got that oldschool anime style that makes my brain vibrate inside of my SKULL.
