may i ask what brush u use for ur art? whatever it is i need to eat it
ahh it depends!!! i alternate constantly because i always change my mind on what i like in the moment but !! my general rule of thumb is to just pick some random brush with fun textures/edges (or find some to download) and then just screw around with the blender settings til i find something i like, ie:
Tumblr media
overall i tend to prefer brushes thatre labeled as oil pastels/pencils/charcoals etc. basically just brushes that try to mimic real textures irl. because ironically, in my experience, the uneven gritty textures that come with these types tend to make colors blend more smoothly than the brushes that are actually smooth and round in shape. if that makes sense?
(but also pen pressure is sooo important. i need to be able to choose how strongly a color shows up based on how hard i press the pen because thats what truly allows for the kind of soft corrections needed to properly blend colors together)
however!! where brushes fail i always always add layers of paper/sand as overlays to the entire drawing because it gives it that papery/canvas feel that i so love :-)

you and me forever | christian pulisic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
had a thought, didn’t turn out great, here it is anyway x
-
“come on sweetheart, give me one more, I know you can do it.” christian cradled her face with his hand, keeping his eyes on hers till they fell to the back of her head, her mouth dropping open as his name left her lips.
“christian, oh baby, fuck,” she squeaked out, him having successfully worked her through the sensitivity till she was feeling pure bliss again as he moved between her legs.
he looked down between the two of them, marvelling in the sight of her swallowing his cock. little groans escaped from his throat as her warm walls clentched around him and he felt himself approach his high that he had been holding off for longer than he could now bare.
christian drunk in the image below him, her hair fanned out on the pillow, eyes clamped shut as moans continued to leave her mouth.
“yeah? you like that, princess?” he muttered into her ear, not stopping the perfect pace he had built up, hitting her sweet spot every time. the light stubble of his beard brushed up against her skin sending shivers up her body, despite the heat radiating from her skin.
she managed to get out a small whimper making christian chuckle slightly. “my good girl, that’s it, gonna come all over me again, baby?”
his words were all too much for her and with a moan of his name she clenched around him, seeing stars as she hit her high for the third time that evening. the sensation of her pulsating around him paired with the sweet sounds escaping her lips spurred christian on as he finally let his release take over, filling her with ropes of his come as he groaned into her ear.
christian collapsed on top of her causing y/n to erupt into giggles at the heavy weight of her boyfriend laying on top of her. she loved it when he did this, it was almost as though he forgot quite how much he weighed as he nuzzled his face into her neck.
she wrapped her arms around him, bringing one hand up to trace her fingertips across his back, drawing aimless shapes onto his skin and just loving the feeling of his skin under hers. christian equally adored the feel of her fingertips on him as he buried his face further into her neck, softly leaving light kisses over the purple and red marks that had already begun forming from the evening’s events.
after a few minutes, y/n begun struggling with christian’s body on top of her, reluctantly speaking up. “babe, you’re kind of crushing me now.” she giggled, not wanting him to feel bad. she loved the feel of him on top of her but her body couldn’t take it much longer.
christian was quick to use his arms to take the majority of his weight from her before slowly pulling out, enjoying the sight of his come slowly leaking out of her.
he hovered above her once more to plant what he intended to be a singular feather light kiss to her rosey lips, y/n taking the opportunity to slip her tongue into his mouth to deepen the kiss, christian only pulling away when his lips curled upwards as he tasted himself on her tongue. his head spun just as much as her’s from the evening’s activities, completely and utterly in love with her.
christian told y/n to stay put whilst he quickly left the room to get a damp cloth. not even a minute later, he returned and carefully wiped y/n clean, only stopping briefly when quiet whimpers left her mouth at the cold sensation.
“i’m sorry, sweetheart, i’m almost done.” he promised, guilt evident in his voice as he gently wiped at the stickiness coating the insides of her thighs.
she just smiled, “mhm, it’s okay, i suppose it was worth it.” she beamed, christian finishing up and tossing the cloth to the side.
he planted a gentle kiss to her lips, y/n looking up at him as he pulled away, a sleepy smile plastered across his face.
hovering over her still naked body, he couldn’t help his eyes taking over her, taking in every inch of her. she felt the heat rush to her cheeks as they flushed pink once she clocked christian’s gaze, quickly moving her hands down her body to try and cover herself. she suddenly felt self conscious, even if he had just seen every inch of her.
christian shook his head and grabbed her wrists with his hands, pulling them away to place them to the side of her body. upon her face was a sheepish smile at his actions, her eyes fluttering closed every now and then as she struggled to fight the urge to let slumber overcome her.
christian felt his stomach do a flip as his eyes reached y/n’s face once more. he would never get over the way she made him feel and recently all he had been able to think about was making her his forever. so much so, he had gone out and bought her a ring.
the pair had joked before with y/n showing him pictures of rings she liked, but after only being together for just under a year, y/n thought the idea was far too ludicrous to be anywhere near his mind.
she would’ve never expected christian to have bought her the ring that sat tucked away in the box at the back of his bedside drawer.
not the best hiding place, christian didn’t care. he almost wanted her to find it so he would have an excuse to give it to her seeing as he couldn’t pluck up the courage, nor could he find the perfect moment.
as she led underneath him, all he wanted to do was pull out the ring, confess how he wanted to make her his forever and officially do that by asking her to marry him.
his heart fluttered at the thought of her going to bars, to work, just out and about with his ring on her finger. everyone would know she was taken. that she was his.
neither of them were into big romantic gestures, both perfectly content with keeping their relationship fairly private. it was for that reason he found himself contemplating right there and right then, pulling the ring out and asking her to be his forever.
he was snapped out of his trance when y/n uttered his name, eyebrows furrowed together as she watched the expression on his face as his mind went at a million miles an hour.
“are you okay, baby?” his heart melted at the pet name she always called him.
“sorry babe, i was just getting lost in your eyes.”
she let out a small laugh, rolling her eyes. “we both know that’s a lie because i’ve been struggling to keep my eyes open.”
he chuckled at her catching him out. “okay, you got me there.”
“what were you thinking really?” she asked, furrowing her brows slightly as she watched on at her boyfriend looking deep in thought.
christian raised her eyebrows, doing his best to distract y/n with a playful comment. “i was just wondering if you think we could beat 3 tomorrow?”
y/n’s mouth flew open with a gasp as she chucked before replying, “mhm, i think you could give yourself a good run for your money.” she giggled as she felt her heart rate get a little faster at the thought.
after a little longer of laughing and cuddling, y/n reluctantly pulled herself away from christian and the cosy comfort of his bed to head to the toilet. she picked up christian’s previously discarded jersey from the floor and slipped it over her head, breathing in his scent as she padded off, feeling completely and utterly in love with the boy.
christian stayed lay on the bed watching on as she headed into the en-suite. his heart fluttered seeing her wearing nothing but his jersey with his last name and number on the back, a smile creeping onto his face as he thought about the idea of the name on her back becoming hers too.
his eyes glanced over to his bedside drawer as he contemplated what to do next, his mind going crazy. was he really going to propose to her in their bedroom, wearing nothing but his boxers, following an evening of sex?
christian took a deep breath as he pulled back the drawer to his bedside cabinet, easily locating the square black box.
hearing the toilet flush and the tap run, he quickly made the decision, deciding there would be no time better than right now. he closed the drawer and pulled back the duvet, putting the ring down on the mattress behind his back.
christian wasn’t paying much attention when y/n returned, his mind too busy trying to scramble together the right words to ask the biggest question he would ever emit. she climbed in under the duvet to join him, frowning when she attempted to snuggle up into his chest and he didn’t move to welcome her in like he normally did. she looked up to face him, jutting out her bottom lip to give him a playfully angry look.
“excuse me, do i not deserve a cuddle?” she pouted up at him and he felt his heart start to go crazy as he realised what he was about to do.
“chris? are you okay, baby?” she asked, slightly concerned as she tried to make sense of what was going on.
“i just, i don’t want you to be upset that i’ve not made this a big deal. but to me it feels right, there is nowhere i’m happier than when i’m at home and it’s just me and you.” he spoke, eyes fixated on the space between them in the bed as he was unable to look at her.
“did you knock your head when i was in the bathroom?” y/n laughed with a confused look still spread across her face, completely dumbfounded as to what her boyfriend was going on about.
he continued, “i don’t want to do some big grand gesture just for the sake of it because that’s not us.” he gathered us the courage to look at y/n, her nose scrunched up in confusion. “all i want… all i want is you. i just want you, forever and ever.”
she let out a small, unsure laugh. “you’ve got me, baby.” she spoke softly, still perplexed where this had all came from, and where it was going.
“no, you don’t understand.” he took a deep breath before continuing, “i want you to be with me forever, to be the one waiting for me at home when i’ve had a shit day at training, to be the one i look for pitch side when i win a big game… to be the one who looks after me and brings me soup when i’m sick, and not just because that’s all you can cook.”
she let out a little laugh at that before letting him continue.
“i want you to be the one i watch walking down the aisle to me, waiting for you to take my hand and tell me you want to spend the rest of your life with me just as much as i do you.”
all the pieces started to fall into place and y/n’s heart felt like it was going to explode out of her chest. she watched on as christian reached behind him to retrieve the black box, tears filling in her eyes as she clasped her hand over her mouth at the realisation of what was happening.
christian climbed off the bed and walked round to her side of the bed, crouching down onto one knee as he opened the box, a beautiful oval diamond, similar to the ones she had jokingly put in his instagram dm’s, shining in the low light coming from the bedside lamps.
“y/n, baby, will you marry me?” his brown eyes glistened as he nervously looked up at y/n, her eyes now watering too as she stared at the man who she loved with all her heart. suddenly she felt all her dreams coming true. all the time she had spent thinking about starting their own little family together, growing old together. it was all becoming a reality.
y/n let out a sob, tears now streaming down her face as she nodded. she didn't try to say anything, knowing full well the lump in her throat wouldn't allow her to.
a bright smile lit up christian’s face as pulled the ring from the box, his hands just as shakey as hers as he slipped the beautiful diamond onto her finger.
“oh my god.” y/n choked out, her heart feeling like it was ready to burst as she moved her hand back and forth, watching at the diamond dazzled.
he was now her fiancé. his glistening dark eyes were wide with love and his hair a total fluffy mess from y/n’s hands tugging at it earlier on that evening. he looked so beautiful, and she couldn’t believe he was all hers forever.
she opened up her arms and christian gladly met her embrace, pulling himself off the floor and falling into her arms in a cuddly mess on the bed.
“it’s you and me forever, baby.”

please post a tutorial or walkthrough or even just a longer process video talking about how you draw!! im obsessed with the textures and colors but i cant seem to wrap my head around it!! (i would pay money for a whole mini course tbh if you were interested in uploading one to gumroad or wherever 😵‍💫)
thank you, i'm flattered :') texture and colour are really important to me so i'm always fine-tuning them to find what works. to be honest i feel like i'm not qualified to teach others since i haven't really even settled on a process, i just kind of mess around until i like what i'm looking at. there are certain things i do much of the time but it's definitely not a linear process!
that being said lately i've been experimenting with traditional media and i've found i really enjoy how gouache behaves so i've been trying to replicate the process in digital. i'll try and explain how i've went about it recently using this super boring piece of a random person...
i'm using a basic pencil brush and a default procreate brush called gouache. i picked it for the name when i was looking for something similar to the paints i'd been using but honestly it looks more like a marker to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i find trying to do separate inks on top of a sketch distracting so i just erase what i won't need. i'll add a darken layer on top of the sketch and go over it with a single colour as a kind of underpainting. i did the flat colours on a separate darken layer here but generally i'll just work on one layer.
we'll add some colour variation and shading, it looks super subtle here but i'll punch it up later. i think the critical thing with this kind of brush is working with transparent layers so you don't lose the texture and you can play with mixing colours.
Tumblr media
i'll often mess with the curve tool a lot but this piece is pretty simple and i ended up only using it once or twice. when i'm happy i'll duplicate the colour layer and see which blending mode i like, testing stuff out at different levels of opacity until i find something cool. i think i went with a transparent overlay layer here.
the lineart is getting buried so i duplicate that layer as well, drag it to the top of the pile and repeat the process of stacking blending modes. something i like to do is add one layer with the lineart blurred to give it a softer look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'll fill a new layer with a dark colour, add about 80% noise scaled up a bit and set the layer to saturation. again you can experiment with the blending mode but i've been using this one recently.
this next part might be pointless but i save the image, open the new file and resize it without actually changing the resolution much, then sharpen it to bring back the detail. maybe it's in my head but i feel like this makes the image look a tiny bit more finished and adds some crunch.
Tumblr media
finally i duplicate the whole thing, blur the layer on top and set it to luminosity on low opacity to create a soft glow effect.
Tumblr media
final touch-ups and you're done!
Tumblr media
sorry for the convoluted explanation! my process tends to messy, i get distracted and don't often work in distinct steps but i think i managed to describe some of the things i do the majority of the time. i hope it's even a little helpful :)

ur art is so, so amazing, is there anyway u could do a tutorial bc I wanna draw like u so badly
i can try but idrk how to explain myself or make tutorials lol
i think my style is just a product of my brush and what im trying to get out of my art, which is trying to portray the characters as accurately as possible. i rly just want it to look like it could be a stylized redraw of a deleted scene or something
my process is kinda everywhere bc i just move on to whatever step will probably make me hate the piece less when im done with it. i draw with a more square brush (blurring marker 1 on ibis) which i def recommend. its great for focusing on shapes in ur art and it helps me not overblend/forces me to think of more interesting lines/shapes. my sketch is a thicker size of the same pen, focusing on the major shapes and proportions and i just make as many additional layers overtop of it, lowering the size of the pen and adding details as i go
once im at the lineart i usually use a site that creates color palettes based off images (usually just steal some from old catholic art) and i steal my base colors from that. it doesnt matter how terrible ur base colors look as long as they make sense and r what ur generally going for.
Tumblr media
these were my original base, i use colored line art and shade the basic shadows using the line art mixed with the base color, highlights r whatever is the lightest color in the palette. after that i duplicate and throw it through this filter
Tumblr media
i play w the colors and use it as a color/hue/luminosity layer on top of the original version, lower opacity and render now that theres more colors on the canvas (the filter creates more contrast between the lame base colors i mix, then i can add bounce shadows and shit).
i use a shit ton of digital cheats. single color overlay layers at the end of a piece, pizza face overlay glow, using vignettes around the border to draw the eye towards the subjects at the center, filters, color palette generators, etc. they make things sm easier so u can worry abt experimenting with other things.
i dont rly know how to explain how i do clothes or hair other than focusing on the shadows and worrying abt lights later. this is honestly the best tutorial i can think of bc in my head im just drawing what i see as best as i can with the pen i use. use a fuck ton of reference, do actor face studies, and try to experiment with ur style everytime u draw. ur never gonna learn how to use ur programs or expand if ur bogged down by trying to achieve a specific look. sometimes that thing u were nervous abt bc thats not how ur style usually works is the best thing on the piece at the end.
actually draw only what u want to draw in that very moment and use that as an opportunity to experiment however u can. i just draw chainshipping and find ways to trick myself into learning 👍🏻 sorry this is so bad if u have any specific questions i can try to answer those better
edit: this is what i mean when i say just draw with whatever base colors and use the lineart to add value. i thoroughly hated this piece at this stage but once i adjusted the pallet it felt much more cohesive and i could continue on with the drawing. the best thing i can say is to have absolutely no process past the same few first steps and resign urself to a cycle of self hatred and throwing random bs at the wall to see what sticks

call of duty songs
hello!! i've decided to start a little series on my profile where i go through songs i enjoy that make me think of call of duty characters.
first song that's up is masterpiece by motionless in white. here is the normal version, and then the motion picture version. this will be under a read more considering how long this can get.
this song in my opinion is from Ghost's point of view, heavily. cw: talks of rape, ghost comic/backstory spoilers.
All the stupid lies and the stupid games Left a vacancy in this picture frame A prisoner by my own hands 'Cause if I can't have me, then no one can I need to heal what I inflict But I'll burn that bridge when I get to it As I play roulette with a broken gun I confess these sins with a sharp and spiteful tongue
So, the song starts off heavy - emotion wise. If this were written by Simon, I feel as though he'd be definitely talking about the guilt he deals with with everything he had done while being a soldier, including almost being an accomplice to rape with one of his old buddies. It results in him building up walls so new people can't get in. He removes himself from society completely, faking his death and everything else he has done. He uses this to confess all his sins/terrible things he had done.
So how do I apologize And put the tears back in your eyes When every canvas that I paint Is a masterpiece made of my mistakes?
The Chorus; please note, I will only go over this once due to it repeating. I feel like this part would be directed towards his mother in a sense. We agree he's a major mama's boy [ in a loving way. not a derogatory way. ] Considering she knows of what he has done to women since he had alluded to it, he would want to apologize to her for everything he has done that's considered terrible. He feels like he has to.
Outlined in guilt, my portrait stares In a gallery where the walls lie bare As I modernize my antique ways True colors can't escape the brush of fate
For this it would be a metaphorical portrait, of course. His portrait would definitely be in an empty gallery, his family being dead and all. He would always be shifting, changing, just so he fits in and doesn't draw attention to himself, despite being a big beefcake of a man who wears a lot of skeleton themed things which definitely make him stick out like a sore thumb. He knows he can't escape the cruel hand of fate though. Everyone does. His true colors will show at some point, he'll break the Ghost persona. It's only fate that he does.
Illustrate all my pain And set it all ablaze Burn And set it all ablaze
Simon would be talking about all his trauma. taking the trauma of living with an abusive addict of a father in his childhood, the trauma suffered at the hands of Roba, and the trauma of losing his whole family and just throwing it into the fire. Just letting it go and ignoring it - for lack of better words - as the persona of Ghost that he had molded over the years.
So how do I apologize And put the tears back in your eyes When every canvas that I paint Is a masterpiece of my mistakes? And in the light of my demise I see my failures in your eyes Every canvas that I paint Is a masterpiece made of my mistakes
This would be him about the 141 - Mostly Price with the line "I see my failures in your eyes." - I feel like he'd feel like they are judging him for his fuck ups when he does manage to have them. They're the closest thing he can get to approval & family, so they mean a lot to him, more than he lets himself show at least due to the walls he had built to protect himself.
and that's it! if you want more please comment, reblog, like, or send an ask! I really hope this also all makes sense. I did the best I could with this.

I feel like I'm the only og fnaf fan that didn't really enjoy the movie 💀
In my opinion, it was just really boring. I honestly wouldn't have minded if the movie was actually horror, like advertised?? Personally, i find horror movies to be really slow at first, but a lot of the time, they tend to pick up towards the middle. However, this movie just never picked up for me until pretty much the very end. I think it was just bc there was a lack of jumpscares imo. Like the BB jumpscares were affective, don't get me wrong, but I wish there was more from the others? I would've happily gone in with a different mindset if it was advertised as a thriller tbh. Also, a little bit more gore would've been nice. There were so many scenes that would've been awesome if they hadn't cut away right as a victim was about to die. Also, I didn't really see any lore confirmations that everyone keeps going on about? I feel like Scott just retconned stuff more than he confirmed it? It just seemed like Scott had so many ideas he wanted to do, and instead of picking one, he threw them altogether and hoped for the best
Spoilers ahead from this point on 👉🏼
.
.
Final warning... scroll past quickly if you don't want spoilers
.
.
Ok so here are my disappointments:
What was the purpose of not confirming Mike was Mike Schmidt until pretty much the end of the movie? I feel that was really unnecessary as it wasn't a huge plot twist or anything. Like I understand why Afton cut himself off when reading the name, but to me, it just felt like it was leading to a big reveal that never happened. Maybe it was to help reveal Vanessa was an Afton, but it wasn't pulled off well if that was the case imo
I understand the purpose of the fort scene with animatronics, but that personally ruined the immersion for me. It genuinely just took me right out of the movie bc it was too silly imo. I did think it was cute af how they all interacted in that scene, but I feel there could've been better ways to show that these are dead kids
Where was Afton this whole movie?? I knew Steve was him the whole time, but I wish they developed his character a bit more. A sad short story from Vanessa was not enough for me to really hate William in this movie
Another thing about Afton is that I wish he showed more fear once he lost control of animatronics. Hell, if not more fearful than at least have him be more threatening?? The lack of character development really hindered this scene imo. Matthew Lillard definitely needed more screen time
Back to first thing kinda, the whole Vanessa Afton reveal was confusing for me. Why make her his child when Mike was in the movie? Michael Afton was such a huge part of the lore, and not being a part of the movie franchise was a bit of letdown for me. It doesn't help I just did not have a reason to care for Vanessa till she revealed who she really was. Like William, I wish we could've gone more in-depth with her character
Mike's dreams were kinda dumb. I get it was a way for him to communicate to the dead children, and so we can see his trauma, but imo it wasn't done very well. It also felt like a slap in the face since the majority of the fan base dogged on the dream theory in the past. Like it seemed like a mean way of teasing more than it felt like a lighthearted kind
Lastly, William having literal control of the kids was really disappointing. Especially with only a picture. Again, the whole picture thing could've worked out a lot better if Afton was in the movie more. Maybe if we could've somehow seen Vanessa drawing the image as a kid and William putting up the artwork to seem like a good dad when in reality it was for his own personal gain or at least something to show he had some part in it. If done correctly, this movie could've really used some flashbacks
To sum it up a bit, I just really wish there was more character development. It was really hard to care or even relate to majority of these characters bc we brushed past things so quickly
Ok, now on to things I liked! ->
Mike Schmidt's character. I thought he was very well developed actually (despite my previous complaints). He (and Abby as well) was one of the couple of characters I really cared for
The actors/actresses. They all played their parts so well. Especially Abby's actress, Josh Hutcherson, and Matthew Lillard (at least when he was on screen lol). I was actually satisfied by their performances
The animatronics. They were stunning. It really was as if they were pulled straight from the game. Jim Henson company really pulled it off. I also loved how expressive they are. Also, SPARKY!! Never thought he would be an Easter egg in the movie, so that was a really cool surprise. From fake screenshot to being on the big screen :')
The Balloon Boy jumpscares. Got me twice and had me giggling. I just know this was Scott being the troll that we all know he is. It so fucking funny. Really brought out the intense hate we all tend to have for that lil fucker 😂
The springlock scene itself. Tho I wish it was a bit more gorey as well as had more expressive emotions, I still really enjoyed it. The animatronics dragging him away to rot for god knows how long movie wise was such a nice touch
Matpat and Corey's cameos. I was so excited seeing them! Esp Matpat. The dude's acting in that one livestream of his had me fully convinced he wasn't in the movie. Then boom, there he was as waiter. A waiter whose name was NESS, btw. Whoever came up with that is a fucking legend 👏🏻
Og TLT fnaf song as the end credits theme. That was such a nice nod to the fans. I'm so glad they added that in. So deserving
THE PUPPETS THEME. Look, I'm a huge fnaf 2 fan, so hearing that had me ascending lmaoooo
.
.
.
.
SPOILERS DONE
Overall, the movie was meh, and this is coming from someone who went in with low expectations. I'd advise just watching on Peacock (or 🏴‍☠️ it) personally. Don't go in expecting it to be anything similar to the games or even the books cause it's not. Treat it as a separate project. I went in expecting at least some of the basic things we've had confirmed, so I'd enjoy the movie more, but that just didn't work out for me, which is fine 🤷
Also, these are just my thoughts after my first watch. I could totally have a change of heart after another watch or 2. Unfortunately, the first impression was just not a good one, and that happens sometimes. So please don't take what I say to heart as, again, my opinion could change 😅
Overall rating: 5/10
I'm going to watch again at some point, so I'll update if my opinion changes in another post

YOU HUMMED ALONGSIDE THE MUSIC THAT WAS playing, your fashion design book in your lap as you sat in the passenger side of Nanami's car. You kept glancing over at him. He was so dressed up, which he only did when he had to meet with his parents. His tie hanged loosely around his neck as his eyes were glued to the road. His hair slicked back perfectly. You couldn't help but stare at the sight of him like this. But he could tell you were staring at him.
"What?" He questioned.
"It's nothing." You said, your eyes staring down at your book going back to sketching some design in it.
"Just say it." He said as he stopped the car at the red light. His eyes stared over at you as you inhaled sharply before speaking.
"That tie, it doesn't go well with that suit color," You said. "You should have done a dark blue tie," you then add.
Nanami chuckles at your statement. Of course, you were going to point out some form of fashion atrocity. Once the light turned green, he would start driving once again. His eyes never leave the road as the two of you drove in silence.
"So, you and Toji?" He questioned causing your head to shoot up to look at him.
"What about us?" You asked as you closed your notebook so you could have his full attention.
"Are you two serious?" He questioned. He wasn't even coming from a jealous intent, he was genuinely asking.
"We're going in that direction. Why'd it matter to you? You're the one that has women returning your necklace I brought you," You snapped. If you were going to be getting questioned by Nanami like this, you would have driven up to Gojo's family cabin by yourself.
"I'm not asking in that matter [Y/N]. I was asking as a friend," Nanami answered.
Your lips formed an 'o' shape as you muttered an apology. "We're doing okay. He invited me to meet his family, but I told him about our friends' trip and how I couldn't miss it." You said.
"You know Gojo wouldn't have minded if you missed this one. Especially considering that you never missed a friend's trip yet," Nanami adds.
"I know, but I'm not the type of brush off my friends for a lover you know. This trip was planned ahead, who do I look like ditching you guys to meet his family." You admitted. "Especially since I just think it's too early for me to meet his family," you added.
Nanami hummed to himself as he was listening to you. "He must really like you if he wants you to meet his family." He says.
You grew quiet for a moment. "I guess." You mumbled to yourself before going to draw in your sketchbook. "I'm surprised you aren't with your family right now."
"Why? I wouldn't miss this trip considering that I missed the last two," Nanami says.
"Because you missed the last two. It's no secret that when your parents want you at something, you'll go in a heartbeat," You acknowledged.
Through everyone in the friend group, it seemed like Nanami obeyed his parents the most. Gojo always went back and forth with his parents due to they thought his behavior was too childish to run a company. Geto became the family disappointment as soon as he showed up home with tattoos. You always went back and forth with your family over your college major. Mei's parents showed favoritism towards her brother. It just was a running cycle within the friendship group.
However, Nanami had a quite calm relationship with his family. Especially his parents.
"It's not that, it's just I don't want to disappoint them. I already nearly gave them a heart attack over majoring in art," He admits as he glanced at the GPS. They were quite close to their destination.
"That makes sense, but I just hope you don't let their disappointment dictate your life you know. It's your life, they did their job to raise you into the kind gentleman you are right now," You responded as you glanced at him. You chewed at your lower lip as he grew silent. Afraid at how he would take what you just said.
"I guess you're right, but I'm their only child. They're expecting me to live up to our family surname and that's what I'm going to do," Nanami stated as he made a right turn.
You didn't argue against what he said. You closed your book you were doodling in and you glanced around the familiar neighborhood you knew. You had remembered the direction to Gojo's family cabin like the history of your favorite fashion brand. You spent many times inside the nicely decorated home. No matter if it was just you hanging with Gojo for the weekend while he did some family duties or even when it was all of you attempting to have a study session.
"Can we stop at that one ramen restaurant we used to go to?" You asked. Your eyes traveled over to Nanami.
"I don't think Gojo would appreciate us being later than we already are," Nanami pointed out.
"He'll be okay. For all we know, he's probably already started drinking." You responded. Your lips formed a pout that caused Nanami to sigh in defeat.
"Fine." He said as he made a swift turn towards the restaurant. He also remembered the restaurant simply because the first time they were up here, they ate at the small family-owned restaurant when they got lost coming up here. It turned into a friendship tradition for the group to stop by when they were staying at Gojo's family cabin.
When Nanami and you arrived at the restaurant, you opened the door and were greeted by the owners. A couple that's been together for over ten years, Mr. and Mrs. Fujito. You always seem to smile even harder when you saw them in the shop. When you first heard their love story, you couldn't help but swoon on the inside. Always imagine yourself getting their happy ending when you were ready for it. You took notice of how Mr. Fujito's face would light up when his wife rambled on about this recipe to a customer. Or the fact that Mrs. Fujito would laugh at her husband's joke, even though she was sure he already told her that joke two days ago. It was a beautiful sight as you sat indulging in the warm savory food.
You sat down at the usual table, not bothering to even look at the menu because you ordered the same thing every time. When Nanami sat down in front of you, loosening up the hideous color tie he was wearing, you peered up at him with curiosity.
"How was dinner with your parents?" You asked as some water was placed in front of you.
"Good. The usual talk on my major, future family trips, you know—the boring stuff," Nanami explained as he looked over at you.
"It's a little too late for them to try to talk you into changing it, you're almost at the finish line," You pointed out.
"That won't stop them from trying," Nanami chuckles.
Your lips parted to speak but were interrupted by Nanami's phone that was ringing. You thought would have been one of your friends asking where the two of you were at, but by the way, he excused himself from the table it could have been one of his parents.
"Do you want the usual?" One of the servers asked. "For you and your friend?"
"Yes, please. He just went to make a quick phone call." You smiled at the server before watching them walk away.
When Nanami returned to the table, he had the most frustrated look on his face.
"Everything okay?" You asked.
"Just parents being parents," He sighed. "You ordered already?" He asked.
"Yes, the usual." You admitted with a sly smile on your face.
You watched as Nanami's cheeks glowed a crimson color. "(Y/N), you do remember what we usually get right?"
"Yes, how could I forget? We get it every time." You shrugged.
The server returned with the bowl of ramen placing it in front of you two. You happily picked up your chopsticks, but before indulging in the food, your eyes met Nanami's. He was giving you the same look he previously would give you before you two fell out romantically.
"Don't look at me like that Kento." You said as you begin to eat the shared bowl of ramen.
Nanami would pick up his chopsticks, "Keeping it strictly as friends." He uttered to himself for you to hear.
"After all, it was your idea."
"No need to remind me."
"Just giving you a heads up. We said we were past this. Keep it strictly platonic, we go our separate ways romantically. Let's not ruin this trip because of unresolved feelings." You bluntly admitted.
Nanami could feel that comment pierce his heart. He was forced to swallow the food that was in his mouth before commenting on what you said. However, your phone interrupted him. His eyes traveled down to the flashing image on your home screen indicating who was calling. His hands never gripped something so tightly compared to the chopsticks he was holding when he saw Toji's picture illuminate your phone.
"I should take this, he's probably wondering if I made it to my destination in one piece. I'll be back, try not to eat all the ramen," You pushed yourself up from the table, answering the phone like a lovesick teenage girl before stepping outside the small ramen restaurant.
Mr. Fujito was coming over to place desert on the table. Nanami didn't even notice due to his constant staring at you outside the window. It made his stomach form the most horrible knots as he watch you smile so hard listening to Toji speak.
"We didn't order this," Nanami said.
"It's on the house. My wife remembered how obsessed your girlfriend was over those things." Mr. Fujito answered.
"She's not my—uh, girlfriend. We're just friends." Nanami answered.
Mr. Fujito glanced at you who was still on the phone outside and then at Nanami. "You two always shared the same bowl of ramen every time you come here. You sure that's not your girlfriend?"
"It's complicated, but I could only blame myself," Nanami answered truthfully.
Mrs. Fujito came from the kitchen and would only roll her eyes. "My gut is telling me that it's another woman in the picture and my gut is never wrong."
"It's not," Mr. Fujito agreed.
Nanami's lips formed a straight line as he didn't want to particular answer that.
"It is another woman. You should tell her, it's the least you should do if you want to keep a friendship with that young lady," Mrs. Fujito said.
"And my lovely wife isn't saying, wait for the perfect opportunity We think you should tell her now. It seems like another gentleman has caught her attention anyway, she probably will understand." Mr. Fujito shrugged as he walked into the kitchen.
Mrs. Fujito was still staring at Nanami as if she was trying to search for a secret. "It may hurt her feelings, but the truth will be out. Just drink some of that broth in your ramen, I do not want her throwing hot ramen on you just in case she reacts badly."
"Uh—thanks," Nanami said just in time to hear the door swing open and for you to rejoin the party.
"Oh my god, did you order these?" You motioned to the plate of miniature sweet treats that Mrs. Fujito made.
Nanami's eyes traveled behind you and could see Mrs. Fujito nodding at him and mouthing for him to say yes. "Yes, I remembered you liked them. How's Toji?" He asked.
"He's doing good. Still bummed out I couldn't meet his family, but I agreed to let him pick me up to take me back home at the end of the week," You admitted. "That seemed to make him happy."
"I need to tell you something (Y/N)."
"What?" You asked as you went back to eating the ramen.
Your eyes met with Nanami's and for once, you couldn't read him. You didn't know what was wrong with him, especially considering just minutes ago those same eyes were filled with something you two put a stop to. You watched as he swallowed the lump in his throat and lean back into his seat. He rubbed at the back of his neck nervously. He also nearly knocked over the glass of water that was next to him.
But you watched as a smile appeared on his face before he started speaking.
"I'm glad that Toji makes you happy."
And behind your head, Nanami could see Mrs. Fujito face-palming herself before walking away to go be with her husband in the kitchen.

“W-Well I certainly do know that…!”
Tumblr media
Rushing to correct himself, Riddle shook his had rapidly, hands up and waving back and forth along with it to banish the notion. Vil-senpai didn’t use weaponry, and he was one of the most powerful and capable people that Riddle knew - and certainly not one to ever have an issue with his voice being heard. Epel, too, tended to draw attention when he wanted it - and when it wasn’t given freely, he demanded it until it was. And then there was Rook-senpai…
Pressing his lips together, Riddle breathed in deeply in an attempt to calm his quickly flustering self. His upperclassman didn’t sound upset, but he didn’t want him to think that there was any possibility he looked down on them regardless. After his Overblot…there were things he was starting to become more aware of, things such as how to pick out pieces of others that he admired in everyone in his academic sphere. Vil-senpai and Rook-senpai had existed as objects of that admiration since long before, of course, but now there were more people beginning to join that once-small group they were a part of in Riddle’s mind.
Even the underclassmen. Though he’d be caught dead before telling Ace such a thing. It would only inflate his ego, no doubt.
“…I cannot use weaponry myself. Aside from poor upper body strength, I’m afraid my affinity for magic and my prodigal nature in academics is all I have to offer.”
For a moment, he averted his gaze, instead moving his hand slightly to run a finger across the fletching of an arrow sticking out of the bag set down in front of them…though he was sure to listen closely regardless. “Vous avez beaucoup de talent.” You’re quite talented. “Votre travail acharné a porté ses fruits.” Your hard work has paid off.
It was nice to be able to brush up on his linguistics with another who was fluent; he was particularly fond of the french language and the way his tongue rolled to form the words as well.
And it was also a good way to lighten the mood…he’d become aware of more than just things having to with admiration recently, after all…specifically, what a considerable percentage of the school seemed to feel about him, and the ways in which he was viewed by the majority of the students in his dorm. He knew all he’d done couldn’t be undone so quickly, but…he was trying to improve. And things like bringing negativity to interactions, being too uptight, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong way…he wanted to fix it all.
A compliment was always a good way to start, he’d learned, though perhaps his senpai would find it nice that it was said in his native tongue as well.
“I see it.”
Tumblr media
Of course, once he was asked a question himself, Riddle perked up at once to send a quick reply, focusing intently on what’d previously been one of many things he’d quickly calculated and picked up on concerning their surroundings and the other’s actions.
“…You’re merciful.”
A slight tilt of his head, and then Riddle reached up to tug a few strands of vibrant hair behind his ear, his focus moving once more to Rook-senpai, rather than his arrow. Lips tinted pink parted as he did so; considering.
“I knew you were kind, Senpai, patient as well, for I have watched you in your treatment of your peers, and of your underclassmen, myself included. And you are friendly, even to those who disapprove of your nature and say severe things concerning it. But it seems I have indeed misunderstood the depths of your goodness.”
What must it be like, to move through life in such a way? Riddle didn’t know if he could ever possibly manage to present himself quite as vulnerably.
“…Is it difficult? To maintain those qualities?”

a sweet bet (jaehyun)
anon: “Hey can I request innocent school boy Jaehyun with freaky bad girl y/n smut?:)” thx for requesting anon! both jae and y/n are the same age, although are around university ages. you can take it in a way that y/n takes up the dom (altho… she’s not so mean) role in this!
fem pronouns. thank u for the challenge! i don’t write fem doms that often so this was interesting to try out :)
content warnings: a bit of fem dom, sub!jaehyun, vaginal penetration, breeding (I'll never let this damn kink go), implications of pegging/strap-on, praise, like one mention of "brat"
NSFW UNDER CUT, MINORS DNI!
“aw, aren’t you such a darling?” you cooed, backing jaehyun up against the door of the classroom as his head covers most of the window on the door. you peak just over his locks to look at the dwindling number of students, most of them heading to class.
“(y/n)-ssi, i-i don’t think we should be doing this-“ jaehyun gasps when you invade his space, nose an inch from the other as his eyes struggle to focus on something.
“so now you’re backing down?” you tilt your head, challenging him. “not when your friends were betting on whether you could even get within a metre of me?”
“y’know… i don’t mind being used for bets or anything, but when someone accepts it like a champ, i expect them to carry it out like one.”
jaehyun sucks in a breath when your arm snakes around his waist, pulling his hips off the comfort of the door. you can tell he’s enjoying it even if his words say otherwise, hips pushing up to get any form of friction for his growing erection.
“proximity wasn’t your bet, right? you just wanted a piece of this pussy, huh?” jaehyun reacts strongly to your use of such a lewd word, swallowing on nothing and making the mistake of dropping his eyes to your lower half.
he timidly nods, breaths coming out short that all he can focus on is your body heat and the words of his friends resonating in his mind. he was happy to take a chance with the popular chick he shared the english literature major with, already envisioning good money that one of his richer friends promised.
why’d they pick you of all people? he wondered why he even said yes when you so clearly had no problem pinning him down. at least the other chick would take her time and beg to be fucked, presenting him with no problem since he’s had a bit of… knowledge from porn.
now, all jaehyun could compare himself to was prey caught in an unfortunate position by its predator. hell, forget about fucking anyone dumb, if anything, he was the one at your mercy.
“you want this, jeong jaehyun?” you ask nonchalantly, eyes already filled with lust at how easily he obeyed to your movements. a widen of his eyes, a bite of his underlip and a curt nod.
you smiled, “good.”
the next minutes were blurry, clouded by hot breaths and wandering hands. your lips moved against jaehyun’s like a sin, tongue slipping into the others’ mouth while he deepens the kiss as much as he can. you can feel his dick on your thighs; he’s rutting against it like a bitch, hesitant hands travelling over your body as it settles over your breasts.
“you’re a good boy, aren’t you? you don’t need to ask for permission.”
with your arms, you’re flipping the two of you over so you’re concealed from the prying eyes of curious students while jaehyun adapts to the new position. he wastes no time to draw your shirt up and bra down, latching his mouth onto your nipples and swirls them around his tongue.
you hum, palming his hardening cock that has his efforts interrupted by the needy moans he lets out. you struggle to hold your own too, his tongue sucking effortlessly while bucking into your hand. it makes you wet, soaking your underwear that you have such a cute boy at your disposal.
you waste no time to push him down to his knees once he’s done, his big doe eyes staring up at you as his hands linger at the waistband of your pants.
“go on,” you mumble breathlessly, sighing in relief when your underwear separates itself from your leaking cunt in a string of arousal, not missing the surprised noise that the other makes. it’s adorable, the way he experimentally places a finger against your slit, rubbing at it like it’s his first time. you shiver when he slips a finger in, holding onto his shoulders while you lean forward at the immense pleasure.
he could call it his first time, although i’ve definitely done it before, god! i’ve practiced making love to my pillow before finding out who was in it for the bet, he thinks. the ‘done it before’ in question only involved pillows and fleshlights, however, but god, nothing compares to the real thing. nothing compares when he can feel you react to his ministrations, thighs shaking at the way your pussy sucks in his slender finger.
“such a g..good boy- ah! can you go faster for me, jaehyun?” you cover your mouth as fast as you can to muffle your moans, grinding down on a single finger that has your face scrunched up in pleasure. he obeys immediately with a flush to his cheeks, pumping his digit at a speed even you couldn’t go at yourself. you let out a gasp when he inserts a second one without warning.
“shit- fuck!” you mewl when his fingers brush up against your clit, observing that his fingers disappearing and reappearing into you makes for an extremely appealing sight. it seems that jaehyun has the same thought, using his free hand to rub his cock that’s forming a tent in his pants. it’s painful, you can tell by the furrow of his brows, but it only fuels the knot in your stomach further.
it’s so appealing that you cum on the spot in a silent scream. your hips have a mind of their own, riding out the orgasm with quickness as your mouth spews profanities and murmurs of jaehyun’s name.
your head hits the wall in a loud thunk, breath heavy from the satisfying climax.
“you did so well, baby. need my help?”
the other’s frantic nods only makes your smile widen, gesturing for him to stand up before your hands reach forward to peel off his pants and soaked briefs. you turn him around, back against your chest when your hand reaches round to wrap around his shaft.
the immediate obscene sounds fill the room, cock hard and wet with pre-cum that jaehyun quivers at the cold air on his dick and your hasty hand that’s stroking him.
jaehyun is thrashing around in your arms, tears threatening to leak from his eyes when you swipe your thumb over his tip. his cries fill your ears like music and you can feel the crystal clear sensation of his hair digging into neck as well as the juices seeping from your pussy.
“(y/n)-ssi- hah… faster please! faster, faster!” he whimpers, head thrown back onto your shoulder. he’s moving against your hand, desperate to chase his high with mouth parted open and eyes closed, he’s there, he’s there, he feels it.
and then you stop. he whines, hips moving on their own accord to feel everything, anything.
“ah, ah, no- stop that.”
you’re turning jaehyun over again, revelling in his full length that you don’t notice his crimson cheeks and messy hair. his forehead is dotted with sweat and he manages out a cute little plea that has you humming.
“are you gonna fuck me good, now, baby?” you pout, drawing a finger down his neck, to his torso and finally resting on his cock.
the shaky breath that jaehyun releases makes you smirk, twitching from the minimal pressure you’ve used. he nods a second later, licking his lips at the dryness that’s taken over them.
“hah… t-that’s it, baby. oh my god, you’re so big…” you moan when he enters you slowly, relishing in the way your soaked cunt provides some lube as the other groans into your shoulder. your bodies are pressed up together with no space in between, the heat of your pussy already causing him to move his hips needily.
“fuck me with all you got, brat,” you spit out, prompting a particularly harsh thrust that has you jerking forward with eyes shut tight.
for someone so shy, jaehyun’s thrusts hit the spot just right, reaching so deep inside of you that you’re hunched over his person. the groans he’s making out only increases your arousal, and combined with the rush of getting caught, it was almost divine how good he’s fucking you.
it’s so divine that you forget that jaehyun was freezing up under your touch earlier, that you forget you’re supposed to be edging him with your words and hands.
“am i doing good, (y/n)-ssi?” the innocence laced within his voice ignites something inside of you, nodding incoherently that you have to give a few seconds before getting your words out.
“mhm- hm- you’re fucking me so good that i can’t even talk, baby. i think that’s- f..fuck- enough proof for you- ah!”
jaehyun basically preens at the praise, burying his face into your neck with the gentleness of a feather while his hips piston in and out of you contrastingly. the squelching noises fill the room like no other, echoing in the classroom that stretches at least two stories, and you’re so tempted to let your whimpers break free, wanting to hear it in the same space that jaehyun’s fucking you in.
“(y/n)-ssi! (y/n)-ssi, oh fuck, baby-“ the pet name slips from his mouth, his movements consisted more of chasing his orgasm rather than pleasing you, but you don’t mind with the way his breaths hit your neck and your sweat mingles with his. you’re grasping onto his shoulders you hard you’re convinced you’re going to dislocate them.
“more, more, more- i want more, (y/n)-ssi,” jaehyun choked out, fisting at your nipples in between his index and thumb. you tremble at the contact, but your hands don’t show it when you brush away the hair that’s stuck to his forehead. his eyes and nose are red, drool falling from the corners of his mouth.
“you’re doing so good, angel.” he moans with the compliment, tears now fully falling as his eyes screw shut at the way you’re clenching around his cock and the way that his balls slap against your cunt lewdly.
“‘m close, (y/n)! mmhhn-!” he doesn’t get the chance to finish his sentence before he’s cumming deep in you, filling you up with his seed. you don’t miss the way his cock throbs inside of you as his cum continues to leak from his cock. in a second, jaehyun fucks the cum back into you, knowing you haven’t came for the second time.
“make me cum like a good boy, jaehyun,” you pant out, playing with your clit as his thrusts become sloppy yet again. he’s cumming again?
you get your answer when you feel another rush of white hot cum stuffed deep into your pussy, filling you to the brim while you reach your own orgasm. your lips let out little pants, while your eyes are fixated on the way jaehyun’s pupils dilate. it’s not long before he pulls out, your juices mixing with his seed which spills out like a bottle without a lid.
it flows down your thighs uncomfortably, but you swipe it up with a finger lingering at the edge of his lips. the other takes your digit with compliance, making a mess and slurping and slobbering all over. it sparks endless ideas in your mind.
“mhm… maybe next time i’ll let you suck on my cock, huh? then i’d fuck you dumb like what you just did to me. whatd’ya say?” the sheepish smile jaehyun gives is all the confirmation you need, even more determined to ruin him silly when he takes two more fingers into his mouth.
he would just have to collect that bet money a hundred times over, because you’d definitely fuck him that many times.

Hi i saw the requests were open. I love your writings!!! I had an idea of a story about chris and reader (early 20s). They are co stars and good friends and they have a good chemistry ( there are also kinda feelings but they don’t tell each other). Sooo the reader got a role in an other movie, chris is really supportive but is kinda jealous because she has a good looking co star (maybe henry cavill idunno). A bit of angsty but with fluffy end. So thats my idea, hope you can write something about it. Xxx
Just Say It
Chris Evans x Actress! Reader
Warnings: none I think
Words: ~1500
Requested: Yuh
AN: I’m sorry this took so long, Anon. I was trying to get in the right headspace for Chris-- I binge-watched Defending Jacob and was wrapped up in Andy Barber, My apologies.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“They’re ready for you guys in 2 minutes,” your assistant said.
Nodding, you followed her to the chair, sat beside Chris, for the interview.
“There she is! Look at this sweater; it is very Knives Out of you,” Chris exclaims, lightly brushing the sweater as you sat beside him chuckling. The movie the both of you were doing this interview for was Knives Out, the first movie in which you and Evans had worked together.
You smiled over at Chris as he offered you a coffee he had his assistant bring for you, and the interviewer came back to you guys, sitting in front of the both of you.
“Good morning, guys, are we ready?” She asked us and we looked at one another before nodding to her silently.
She began the interview, introducing us individually, asking us ice breaker questions about the rest of the cast, and then got to the questions we both knew were coming. “So, you two have been seen together a lot off set since filming has ended, is there anything you would like to disclose about your ventures together?”
You gave her a bit of fake amusement, heavily breathing air through your nostrils, as Chris looked over at you, his smirk growing on his face. “Yeah, babe, we should tell them.”
You laughed, growing red in the face at his joke. He had now done this in 4 different interviews, and you knew if he continued, if the fans saw them all, they would most definitely come after you. You shook your head at the interviewer, “No, we are just friends. He’s just kidding; I use him for his dog,” you answer half-honestly.
He faked being hurt, his right hand grabbing his chest as a fake wince grew on his face, making you stick your tongue out at the older man.
The interviewer nodded, moving on to the next, and hopefully last, topic: you’re next film.
You were a young actress, getting a late start on the profession at 22 years of age, so this was your first feature film. The only other work you had done was as a favor for one of your college filmmaker major friends. He wanted to create a short film for his final presentation and you obliged in being his leading role.. the only role. Nonetheless, once you began filming for Knives Out, fans began digging into your past, found the short film, and now it was getting its own feature film, to which you were being recast as the lead once more.
“(Y/N), how are you feeling about the new film, (Film Title)... again, as I understand?”
Nodding, you prepared your answer, “Yeah, it began as a short film created by a friend of mine from college. He wanted to use it as a final presentation for a filmmaking class, but I don’t really think either of us expected it to get the recognition that it has; though, I think he deserves it for sure. I’m excited to be able to do it again and join him on his breakthrough journey.”
“She’s going to be great. I watched the short film, and I’m excited to see them draw it out and add more to the idea,” Chris jutted in, taking the attention off of me for a moment in time.
“And with quite the attractive costar too, Henry Cavil. That’s quite exciting,” She pushed. Interviewers were all the same: find a love angle in any way possible. Curiosity and love sell.
You sigh softly, tired of being paired with every male you come in contact with. You glanced at Chris, who had rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over your chest. You furrowed your brows to him quickly, before turning to the interviewer with an answer, “Yeah, I’ve met him once in preparation for filming. He’s lovely, very sweet, and talented. He’s going to be great for the story.”
The interviewer accepted the answer, realizing she was not making a love triangle of you in the public eye and ended the interview. She shook your hands, wishing you well, and went off about her day, leaving you and Chris alone once again.
He was rigid, arms still crossed, face stone-cold, you looked at him softly, hand coming to his bicep to get his attention. “Are you okay?”
He looked at you pointedly, clearly annoyed, but uncrossed his arms. “Yeah,” he said softly as he walked away from you. This was the last interview for the both of you, where would he be going?
You followed behind him, annoyed at his actions.
The time you two had spent together while filming had allowed you both to grow close. Very close, you two were practically best friends at this point, but you always noticed him acting stranger when someone would ask about other male costars. You couldn’t simply ignore it, it was painfully evident he was jealous, and if someone had been pairing him with every woman actress he had come in close proximity with as well, you would probably be acting in the same manner.
The truth be told, you had a lot of feelings for Chris, and couldn’t help but wonder if he had any for you, so when he reacted in this way, you were sure he did. The problem was he was too stubborn to tell you, and you too shy to tell him.
“Listen, (y/n), I’m fine. I’m not upset with you. I’m just annoyed that every interview ends with the interviewer trying to paint this idea that you go around fucking all of your costars,” he said casually as he slung his jacket around his body, slipping his arms into their spots.
You scoffed at his words, “Chris, no one said I was fucking anyone...” He shrugged his shoulders in response, trying to go about the day as if he hadn’t let it slip out of his mouth. You walked closer to him, pulling the collar of his jacket out and fixing it properly, “If you’re jealous, why don’t you just say it?”
He looked down at you, eyes and body softening as he brought a hand to cup your face gently, “I think I’m in love with you,” he whispered before bending to your height and kissing your lips softly.

Moments of Despair #2 [Genshin Impact/Albedo x Reader]
Tumblr media
Synopsis: "The alchemist who relished in his gifts only to fall from grace."
(A series of works where the boys deal with the passing of their beloved).
Diluc’s despair
Warnings: angst, tragedy, major character death and psychological horror (correct me if otherwise)
(A/n): I decided to take a slightly different approach this time. Regardless, it’s still killing my heart TwT.
---------------------------------------------------
Out of the many wonders of Teyvat, one thing Albedo loved most was how you were so different from him.
Difference ties to the unknown, one that must be discovered. He was drawn to you the first time he had laid his eyes upon your form standing at the heights of Mondstadt's cathedral. The Sisters scolded you from below, but all you did was reply with a wink amidst their chaos before soaring into the skies and letting the wind carry your glider. Reckless they said. For him, your recklessness was intriguing.
As the sun's light blinded his vision, everything he saw seemed like a glass barrier. For the ground was where he thrived and chalk was his core, it became the basis of Albedo's very existence. Even the geo Archon granted him a Vision of the same element to affirm his identity. The earth will forever be attached to his feet as he will keep on his stride until every last truth of Teyvat have all been realized. You, on the other hand, hailed from a place where he couldn't quite reach. What lies beyond this glass ceiling? Albedo found himself gradually holding onto a string of curiosities, a string he could touch but was not able to feel.
'Interesting,' he thought quietly, while the breeze slip between the fingers of his outstretched hand.
He was a character of logic, possessing sharp eyes that could pierce through the depths of the most complex formulas and a mind to predict their outcomes-  as long as alchemy was still related. All impossibilities thrown in his way only paved a path for him to become the well known genius he was now. Whether it was alchemy or  investigations with the Knights of Favonius, Albedo never failed to deliver the answers. But despite it all, he always found himself endlessly contemplating over things that were considered intangible. He wonders why you smile when there was nothing to laugh about. How could you tell between the complexities of the human heart? Albedo can't seem to put a finger on it.
'Why? What drives you? What are you thinking?'
The Chief Alchemist couldn't resist being fascinated by your unpredictability. It reels him in similar to a fish being baited out of the waters. However, unlike those creatures, Albedo only tightened his grip on the strings as if they were a lifeline, determined to find out what they truly felt like to the touch.
"I can't really say it's much of an answer," you hummed, clasping both hands behind your back before declaring with a grin, "To put it simply, you just gotta follow your heart."
'Follow your heart...' What does it mean to follow your heart?
"I'm afraid I still don't understand," he replied in a thoughtful manner. The statement never really resonated with him and it certainly weren't the words his Master taught when he was in the early stages of being created, "But it does suit you very much."
"Really? But still bring your head with you," a playful laugh escapes and you add while pointing a finger, "At least, it's what everyone tells me these days."
"Hm," Albedo then affirms with a nod, "I can definitely see why they would tell you that."
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"
The days go by and his repetitious march towards the truth remains the same. However, there was never a dull moment when you were at his side. Perhaps that was the reason why Albedo became so attracted to your aura. The way you'd follow around his experiments, eyes so full of enthusiasm at every step of the activity. Sometimes the events can get a little too out of hand in which he needs to step in and save you from getting stuck in slime condensates...constantly. Albedo grew fond of your childlike excitement even when you weren't entirely sure what was going on. He normally distanced himself from socializing as it never sparked his interest. Frankly, he was too much of a genius for mundane conversations. Your presence was rather refreshing in this case. You were an oddball, just like him, and for once the alchemist felt like he didn't need to place that glass barrier between the two worlds.
"You seem to be in a very good mood today Mister Albedo."
He was a man of subtle expressions yet anyone could notice the small gleam in his eyes whenever he saw you walking in the hallway. Sucrose often remarked with a giggle after she noticed her teacher holding his documents upside down. But who could blame him? Joy, fun, laughter. He was able to experience those emotions all because of you; his beloved. You were the colour to his canvas and the meaning to his flower. You were a force of nature. Like a warm breeze gracing upon the terrestrial lands, you move him.
Thump- thump- thump-
Strings around his world began to weave one whole picture while they also tugged inside his chest. God had finally blown the breath of life into mankind's body, it was only a matter of time before Albedo came to follow his heart too.
--------
"Alright, just one more detail aaaaand done!"
You gave a small tap using the tip of your pencil and leaned back to examine your artwork.
Masterpiece!
On days when Katheryne had no commissions assigned to the guild, Albedo would accompany you to the Whispering Woods and conduct his sketches there instead. He was aware of the discomfort Dragonspine brought as the temperature wasn't ideal for anyone except for him. You eventually learned that your lover was not only intelligently different from the rest but physically too. Albedo, aside from the Cavalry Captain, was mysterious in his own way. He was hard to read yet never came off as intimidating, no one knew of his origins nor they knew how he came to Mondstadt. You wondered why someone like him would have wanted to get involved with your shenanigans. Rosaria often gave warnings regarding the alchemist's 'hidden intentions' in which you'd roll your eyes in response. The Albedo you knew was far from that. He was a big brother to Klee, a man passionate about his work, he was the one golden star among the many silvers in your sky. He was your lover.
My Albedo.
Brushing a hand upon the drawing you made of him, you glided down the lines of his cheek before resting your finger on the mark by his neck. You gazed at it with fondness. Truly a masterpiece indeed.
"You do realize I'm still here?"
The paper nearly flies out of your grasp and you snatched it back to your chest, "HUH A-ALBEDO, WHEN DID YOU APPEAR???"
"I was with you the whole time," he states. The corner of his lip tug upward ever so slightly, "You said you wanted to sketch me."
"A-Ahahaha, so I did," you reply while scratching your head bashfully. 'I thought I was looking at a sculpture!!'  You rushed to cover your face with the sheet. It wasn't that you forgot he was there, rather, you forgot he was still a living and breathing specimen who just witnessed your little serenade. As Lisa had once said, Albedo was easy on the eyes. His graceful features made him seem almost like an oil painting that could only be found in  halls of the most prestigious households. You made sure to capture everything, every detail, every curve just like he had done with your portraits. Only now you noticed the sun already began its descent below the lakeside, dusting the landscape with hints of bright orange as it marked the day's end. If only time could slow down. But duty calls upon your next journey and there was no telling when you'd return. At the very least, a simple portrait would suffice to fill in the temporary gap of his absence.
"Can I see it?"
You glanced his direction while keeping the drawing close to your nose, "Are you sure about that? It might not be up to your expectations."
"I'm sure," Albedo affirms with a straight countenance, "I can already tell you've put a great amount of effort, otherwise you wouldn't have taken this long."
"Yeeaahh I kinda lost track of time. I guess it's only fair that you get to see the finished product," you say and shoved the drawing in front of him, "Tada! I present to you, my masterpiece!"
Albedo takes it out of your grasp and you watched the way his eyes expanded upon sight.
"Well? Whaddya think?"
Words could not describe the mixture of emotions that erupted within him. Was it distinguishable or abstract? Albedo spent his time pondering between the two answers as he examined the drawing closely. Despite the lines being slightly jagged and the unevenness in the placement of his eyes, he managed to make the shape of the entire image you were trying to convey. Perhaps it was all thanks to his well trained artistic vision which gave him the ability to do so. Or maybe he was simply biased. But there wasn't a shred of doubt that this was indeed your craftsmanship.
"You even added flowers in the background," he pointed out with amusement.
"It's the thing you make when using your elemental burst, I couldn't fit your hand in the picture so I decided to put it somewhere empty," you informed, "Out of everything, that one took me the longest."
"And the rabbits?"
"They resemble Klee's bombs!"
He lets out a chuckle, "I see."
Albedo kept his attention downward until he was mindlessly staring at the paper in hand. This was a memory made to be carried as you moved on to your next journey and it saddens him that he could not accompany you. If only time slowed down. Albedo wanted to hold onto the memory forever, because he knew once he gave it back, he wouldn't be able to see you for an uncertain amount of time.
"Do you really have to go?"
His voice was barely above a whisper. Guilt crept into your heart and you gingerly layed your fingers on his gloved ones, bringing down the paper that blocked his face. A pair of teal orbs held a reflection of your image as the sun's rays casted from the side. You returned it with a reassuring grin, hoping to soothe his worries somehow, "I just need to pay a visit to my father since he's been very sick lately. I'll be fine, so don't worry too much okay?"
Albedo turns over his palm and gave your hand a squeeze, "How long will it take?"
"I'm not sure but it will be a while. Snezhnaya is pretty far so..." you trailed off, "But my time in Mondstadt, with Klee and with you, I will never forget! I won't even if I tried."
When you were met with no answer, a breeze came in to fill the melancholic silence. He too will not forget and he would ensure that it was the same for you. Slowly, Albedo brought your hand up, past the center of his heart all the way to cupping his cheek. He allowed himself to indulge in your warmth, tangling the strands of his hair with your fingers while closing his eyes. Sweet flowers. You always carried the smell of sweet flowers.
"Albedo?" You gawked, "What's the matter?"
"...There are certain aspects where drawings can't imitate,"  he says, grip tightening ever so slightly, "How I feel against your skin, the shape of my jaw, your warmth radiating with my own. These are the things I want you to remember."
Breath leaves your slightly parted mouth. It was unfair how straightforward Albedo could be when showing his affection. Doing as he pleases without anyone's approval to the point it would even catch you off guard since he often absorbed himself in the arts of alchemy. But during times when Albedo did choose to express his feelings, you knew they came from a place of pure genuinity. The thought made it hard for you to tear away from him, "Did you ever find out what the strings felt like then?"
Albedo returns his gaze, long golden lashes hovering them as he smiles softly, "...I have."
As he began to reveal his stories, the dusk sky continued to flare across the landscape with colours of passion. Red, it was the thread that had led him to you, the same string that weaved him together as a whole. Albedo lays a kiss atop of your pinky, there was a reason why Mondstadtians called him the Chalk Prince. You didn't know the intention behind his sudden affection but he knew. It was a promise, one to ensure that the thread would also have you return safely back into his arms.
Oh how he hated the colour red.
"Al...bedo..."
With speed he never knew he had, Albedo scoops you into his embrace and held you close. How did everything happen so fast? He curses his mind as it proceeds to scan your injuries, drawing a conclusion where he wished to be wrong for once:
You were beyond help.
"Ah..haha..." you managed to laugh through bitter tears, "You don't have to say it. I know."
His breath hitches, trying to make sense of the feeling that was slowly tearing him apart from the inside. It's not real. Of course it wasn't, it couldn't be. What other possible answer was there to explain the numbness stinging his fingers? The reason for his shaking? Everything felt so cold. Your body hardly registered to his to touch, you were losing so much blood. You were losing. He was going to lose you.
"No," Albedo shakes his head, "We still have time. I'll go find help."
Please, hold on.
He forced himself to think. The ruin hunter ran off shortly after it had ambushed you, by now the Knights would eventually noticed and apprehended it on sight. They couldn't be too far. All he needed was to carry you back to safety and everyone can go home. Albedo darted his eyes all over the place, breaths becoming shallower with each passing second. Where? Where to go? Which route was best to not overexert your wounds? Think. Think. Think. Why couldn't he think?
"A..." You watched him in your helpless state. Every part of you throbbed with pain but it pains you even more to see the renowned genius who stood atop the pedestal of elegance and grace so utterly, undoubtedly lost. This was not the goodbye you wanted, though death already had you tight in their grasps. Not yet. Using the last particle of your strength, you tried to stay alive as long as possible. Just a little bit more time.
Albedo freezes when a trembling hand extends itself to cup around his cheek. Every single thought he had in mind vanished and was replaced by a loud ring resonating in his ears. Dreadfully, mechanically, he turns his attention to where you lay.
"Don't cry," you whisper, "I love you, don't cry- okay?"
Albedo grimaces, shutting his eyes closed as he allows the pent up sadness to flow out of him completely, "I can't," he said in a shaky voice, "Please. Stay."
"I'm sorry," Your vision blurs and he hugs you even more. Drawing your final breath, you relay your most cherished words through a broken smile, "But no matter w-where I go...I won't for..ge.."
The moment your hand fell, Albedo finally understood the difference between death and loss.
It was...suffocating. Having the air trapped in his throat, begging to release yet it hurts to speak. The never ending stabs that pulsed within his veins rushed forth like the scraping  blizzard of Dragonspine until his whole body lost all its senses. The world was shattering. He could no longer feel your weight. He could no longer feel.
(Y/n).
Albedo glances at his blood stained fingers where the thread had been severed, wide eyes drowning in sorrow. What a horrible feeling. Was this a warning sent by the gods? For stepping into the boundaries of knowing too much? Ah the curse of knowledge man must bear when eating the temptatious fruit. It was the result of choosing to love you. With life, death is inevitable and with love, it will eventually bring pain. Everything had a price to pay and as an alchemist, Albedo knew that better than anyone.
"...Meaningless..."
But he refused to accept it.
Cradling your corpse, he leans in and places a kiss on your forehead, lips quivering as they lingered for a second too long before gathering the strength to stand back on his feet. Nothing will stop the alchemist from reuniting with you. If the laws wished to take you away from him then he will use everything in his power to fight against those laws.
"This is not goodbye..." Albedo said to the sleeping girl, "And it will never be."
When the sun sinks below the plains and the stars lose their light, the sky had been replaced with a palette of darkness. It was time to go home.
------
"Have you all heard about the rumours?"
A group of knights gather in the corner as they whisper about. Sucrose stops on her tracks and hides behind a wall, clutching the book close to her chest in an attempt to stay hidden.
"Another criminal disappeared from the dungeons? Crazy..."
"More like creepy. I was told that place might be haunted by some dead prisoner's ghost. Even the Church is hopping onto this case."
"Well I hope it doesn't get any worse. So many of us started going on night patrols..."
Their voices faded out of range as the anemo user backtracks her steps carefully. Several months passed since the news of mysterious kidnappings have been announced to the public. Rumours of their whereabouts swirled around the city and much to her discomfort, Sucrose happened to catch every single one of them. There couldn't possibly be evil spirits lurking in the Favonious Headquarters right? She silently shrieks at the thought, shaking her head furiously to stop her mind from going too deep. No, I have to find him. Without wasting another minute, the anemo user sprinted towards the stairs all the way up to the second floor before stopping directly in front of her teacher's office. Despite the adrenaline that occured at the same time, she made sure to knock.
No answer.
"Strange, he told me he would be here today..." Sucrose muttered to herself. But suddenly she heard the sound of objects shifting from the otherside, signaling that there was indeed someone occupying the room. Without realizing, she held her breath out of anticipation.
"Come in."
The door creaks as she opens them, giving her enough space to slip between the gap, "Mister Albedo?"
"You're early today," The Chief Alchemist noted from his desk, "Is there something the matter?"
"Y-You mean you don't know? There was just another case about a person disappearing from the dungeons," Her tone became more frantic as she rambled to herself, "The kidnapper never leaves a trace and no one knows how they were able to get out. Even when we ask the guards what happened, they can't seem to remember as if...as if someone casted a spell on them!"
"A spell?" He inquires, "I suppose that could be a possibility."
"I think so too. I-It's the only explanation that makes sense! I mean...ghosts don't exist after all," Sucrose nervously looks down at her shoes while giving her book a squeeze, "But why? Who could be capable of such advanced techniques? No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to understand their intentions."
"...Yes. It is a very strange occurrence indeed."
Noticing her teacher's withdrawn attitude, Sucrose couldn't help but feel flustered at her own behaviour, "Ah my apologies Mister Albedo, I didn't mean to go off track. Have there been any progress on the investigations so far?"
Albedo briefly glanced at the various documents splayed across his table. His reputation as an incredibly intelligent individual had reached far and wide through Mondstadt. This led to the authorities requesting his assistance regarding the recent matters, despite him specializing in the alchemical field, he was also the Captain of their Investigation Team. Although, Albedo detested partaking in things he deemed irrelevant to his research;
"I'm afraid I would need more evidence to draw a conclusion."
"Eh? You still need more?"
He could not deny that the given authoritative position had provided much benefits to his own accord.
"My expertise lies in the subject of alchemy," Albedo reasoned and proceeds to intertwine his fingers in front of his mouth, "Humans on the other hand, are very unpredictable in nature. Even the essence of their existence is hard to obtain."
"Essence of their existence?" Sucrose repeated softly. She wanted to ask what he meant but the blank expression was evident  enough to signal his impatience. At least, that was what she thought, "Nevermind! I have something that might help," taking out a slip from her textbook, she handed it to him, "It's the report Captain Kaeya gave me. He said that the culprit might be a traitor coming from the Knights of Favonius."
He narrows his eyes.
"I-I think he might be right! Just think about it, we haven't found anything at all for the past few months but when we do, I sometimes feel like we're just running in circles...oh what if it's becau-"
"Sucrose."
"Y-Yes?!"
Albedo calmly looks at the flustered girl, not realizing how sharp his tone was, "You're overthinking again. Perhaps it's best that you take this day off."
"But I came here to help," she insisted, "I know it hurts to lose someone you love! Don't you understand that we're all worried about you? And Klee, she..."
"..."
"Please Mister Albedo, if there's anything I could do-"
"No need," he cuts her off once again, "Your stress levels are too high. We can't go any further if you continue to act like this."
"Oh," her ruby eyes casted to the side, "I understand..."
"Good. Now, if you would excuse me," Albedo bid her farewell and watched as the door clicked behind her, observing every detail until he was sure that the absolute silence had returned. He picks up Kaeya's document. Such remarkable handwriting. But of course, appearances are only meant to be displayed on the surface for the Captain was a sly man, wearing a mask to shield what lies underneath. Just like his letter, they were full of innuendos and condensed meanings, orchestrated together until the truth spoke loudly to Albedo himself.
"So, that's what he thinks."
Perhaps the alchemist should have been a little more discreet.
--------
There was a certain place in Dragonspine that no one dared to enter. But those who have, they never return.
"Hm, no response. Now as for the next step..."
And he was the reason why.
Taking the sword out of the transmutation circle, Albedo turned to the snowy hill nearby and activated his alchemy. A small portion of it dissipates, revealing a trench that went so deep underground that even warmth couldn't outplay the sheer cold. It was the perfect hiding place for the evidence to lay out of sight and an environment where only he could handle. The alchemist tossed the leftover along with the others before exiting quietly, summoning back the ice to bury his victims once again. Another day, another experiment, another stain goes to his title. The path he walked upon was one littered with corpses and the sins he committed. But despite the bones crunching beneath his feet and the weight of the dead hanging on his shoulders, the alchemist was numb to it all. Like an entity floating in space with nothing to hold, he became unable to feel.
"I'm back," When reaching the center of Starglow Cavern, Albedo puts his hand on the icicle and caressed it's hard cold surface, "Did you sleep well?"
The girl did not respond. Her eyes were closed and her skin was as young as ever. She was frozen in time.
"You must have."
Albedo felt the sword beginning to shake in his grasp as it resonated with his energy. Dust particles emitted from the hilt and slowly made their climb to the side of his arm. Still, Albedo's attention did not waver, "To this day, I've been thinking about what you told me the first time we met."
"..."
"Follow your heart. I couldn't understand it at first but after being around your presence, I believe I can finally recognize what that term means."
He closes his eyes as he envisioned your lively form running across the landscape. Albedo, Albedo! The sound of his name was mixed with your laughter while Klee came into the scene and caught the dandelions with you. A content smile formed on his countenance as he watched from afar, even if it was just a memory, "It's everything. The breakfast we ate together, to the nights spent camping outside, and the silly moments we shared, they bring all these colours that I never knew existed."
"..."
Albedo curls his fingers against the ice as he continues to lament, "Perhaps that's why I began noticing the strings around me. The closer I was to answer, the more I felt it was necessary to discover what they are. All this time, you were the answer I was searching for," Moist begins to build up in his eyes but they freeze up once reaching the corners. How cruel. Despite what he went through, he wasn't even granted the liberty to cry, "Because with you, I'm able to feel them."
He wonders what you would think if you saw him right now. Albedo peers at his reflection casted on the crystalline surface, the frame of his face had been decorated with streaks of purple and red, spreading out like tree branches as they both fought for dominance. The teal coloured orbs you once adored were beginning to transform to a colour that reminded him of his darkest days. This was Albedo's true nature- a monster, a being that wasn't human, the essence in which you never had the chance to see.
"I know I may not be the same as I was before," he added, "But if that is what it takes to follow your heart, will you let me feel the strings again?"
Would you still love me the same?
"..."
"If so, then please understand my actions," Albedo takes a step back as he held out the sword in front of him. At last, the preparations have finally been completed. He plunges the blade to the ground with full force and the surrounding area begins to shake under the power accumulated through many, intentional sacrifices. To revive the dead was a forbidden art as it came with heavy consequences. If it weren't for Albedo's talent and quick wit, the process would have consumed him long before executing the last stage. He winces, the pain was excruciating. It was hard for him to ignore the sound of his skin cracking below his ears and all the way to his nose as they fall off in the shape of small rock-like chunks. Everything hurt so much that even death sounded like a sweet dream but Albedo couldn't afford to give up. He had already come this far, his hands completely washed with sin and his reputation already broken beyond repair, Albedo had nowhere else to go. This was his last destination.
"Soon-" he pants between choked breaths. Soon your eyes will open. He could drown in your embrace, one that was warm and not cold. Soon he will be able revive those cherished memories from a frozen past. It was all he could think of right now. Your existence was the reason why a part of him felt whole and your death made him realize how painful it was to tear away those pieces. Albedo refused to let go of those pieces, they had already become a part of him. And if this path ended up tearing him even more, then so be it.
"I should have stopped you the moment you were born."
The intruder snapped him awake and he swung around to where they stood. But before Albedo could make out who it was, they lunged past him with incredible speed, kicking the sword off the ground while severing his two arms once and for all. They flew to the side, blood dyed purple trickling from the edges of his joint as he struggled to stay upright.
"Dains...leif..."
Dainsleif watched the alchemist fall onto his back as the light around him slowly faded away. He turned his gaze to where the objective was and noticed a girl encased within the ice. The man sighs out of relief when she shows no signs of life, he came just in time, "So this is how it ends."
Albedo weakly stared at the blonde man. He attempted to say something but the blood caught in his mouth prevented him from that.
"Save your breath, you won't be having any," Dainsleif remarks in a cold manner and glared at his bloodied form, "The renowned Chief Alchemist of Mondstadt and an important member of Ordo Favonious. Hmph, what an interesting turn of events. Out of everyone, I never thought you were the type to act so foolish."
Foolish...what a foreign name to be called as. He never heard anyone tell him he was foolish.
"Truly a pity," With a flick of a wrist, Dainsleif brought his sword to Albedo's neck. It was unbelievable how he had the endurance to go through all that pain while still breathing at this point but what is there to be expected from a monster? "Remember that all actions have consequences."
The alchemist watched as his life flashed before him, the weight of his sins had finally caught up. He had always seen the world as a platform for his objectives and results were merely a natural cause after attempting many experiments. But death as a consequences was an unbearble realization upon his final moments. He abandoned his title, his pupil and his dearest sister. In the end, he was still unable to fulfill his duty.
"I just..." Albedo mumbled, his words slurring together, "wanted..."
As the ashes turn to ashes and dust becomes dust, chalk returns to the earth, forever yearning a place that can never be reached.

tiptoes and kisses.
pairing — hwang hyunjin x reader
word count — 2.385
ratings — nc-17
genre — suggestive, fluff
warnings — heavy, heavy make out, mentions of sex, obvious size kink.
note — requested. this is just 2k words of heavy make out with hyunjin and how much you love his height. that's it.
Tumblr media
Sometimes, you forget how tall Hwang Hyunjin is.
Even though it's hard to forget that when the man you love towers over you like a huge building, making him seem so statuesque — not that that was a bad thing. In fact, it was never a bad thing, but you're going off the safe for work talks then.
It especially helped when you needed to take the empty boxes up from the storage at the top of the cupboards, or when the utility room in the kitchen shelves ran out, the empty racks at the top were accessible to your boyfriend.
It quickly switches to annoying however, when you stand next to him and he uses your head for an armrest, only to put even a miniscule of his body weight on it as he leans forward to bop your nose with his other hand and mumble, "My cute girlfriend," and you want nothing more than to headbutt him in the face for doing that.
"You stupid tall bean," you would huff and all Hwang Hyunjin would do is drop his arm from your head, only to grip both your shoulders, turn you around to face him and hold your chin between his thumb and forefinger as he slightly tilts your face upwards.
Your eyes would widen and your body would lean backwards instinctively, but he would snake his other arm around you and lean forward. He would make his voice particularly huskier than normal just because he knows how much it affects you and say, "You like me being tall though. I like this height as well. From here, I can see clearly your beautiful face."
And you are blushing, temperature rising to the apples of your cheeks and you plant your face into his chest in embarassment. He doesn't stop though and continues, "Or when I lift you up and pin you against the—"
"Hwang Hyunjin," you would yelp, clutching tightly on to his clothes, your mind infiltrated by thoughts that have you dizzy.
And then there are days when he lets you feel tall. When he comes back weary and tired after practice and slouches down on the sofa, his long legs jutting massively out of it, he closes his eyes, his head resting against the faux leather of it. You would walk slowly, careful to not make a sound as you stand in between his legs and lean forward to hug him. You would rest your chin on the top of his head, albeit a little pushing down on Hyunjin's frame.
He would let you, only to wrap his arms around your smaller frame and pull you closer into him so that your cheek is against his soft hair and his face is buried in your chest and he sighs — a small act that could turn sexual enough with a change in the atmosphere but then, it would have just been a fleeting moment where he lets you he the bigger person and comfort him.
Or there are days when he's everything — sexually frustrated, annoying and the sweetest boyfriend ever. Like today.
You hear Hyunjin coming home when the door makes a sound, footsteps resonating louder and you are smiling to yourself as you put the noodles into the boiling water. Your tall boyfriend wraps his arms around your back, burying his chin into the crook of your neck as he kisses your cheek.
"You're home," you smile to yourself and Hyunjin nods, kissing further down trail, each kiss lingering a little more than the previous ones. "How was your day?"
"Tiring," he mumbles against your skin, nose brushing against the sensitive region by your neck and a tingle runs down your spine. "I missed you. Way too much."
"Of course you did," you break the chopstick apart and use it to mix the noodles before covering it with the copper lid. "I'm quite a huge presence to miss."
"To me, yes," and he kisses your neck again, arms tightening around your waist. Hyunjin has always been the one to display his affection and that has led to one too many accidents in the kitchen where the two of you forget to either switch off the stove or close any electrical apparatus. So you do your best to not get distracted by your boyfriend and rather decide to focus on the noodles that were cooking. Hwang Hyunjin could wait till then but safety couldn't.
He whines against your skin, his mouth still lingering against it as you move to remove the noodles from the stove, turning it off and quickly covering it with the lid. He pulls apart from you and looks down at the steam arising from the covered noodles off the lid. As soon as you were done with that, you whirled around in Hyunjin's arms, arms wrapping around his torso.
"It's going to turn soggy, you know," you state the obvious and Hyunjin does not care. He wraps his arms around you once again, holding you tightly against him.
"It's fine," he laughs. "We'll order take out if it's that bad."
"Really?" You raise an eyebrow, leaning slightly back to look at your boyfriend's face. He grins with no remorse and you roll your eyes. "Dork," and you chuckle. He chuckles along with you and presses his forehead against yours as he bends down. Hyunjin's hands are slowly creeping under your — his oversized t-shirt — and his thumb traces and rubs tantalising small circles into your hip bones, fingers delicate as they hold you.
Hwang Hyunjin has always been a tease. He'll taunt you with everything till you take the first step. It's a small quirk you have noticed in your boyfriend and you are soothingly grateful for that. Therefore, you do exactly that. You step on your toes, putting your entire weight on that. You let go of his waist and wrap your arms around his neck, crashing your mouth against his. Hyunjin moans in content into the kiss as he wraps his arms even tighter around your waist, pulling you up slightly.
Hyunjin holds onto you with his right arm securely and pulls you into a fiery and passionate kiss that you initiated. Your hands grip tightly onto his neck as you delve deeper into the kiss, while his left arm trails its way around your body, feeling each crevasse, each line along your perfect physique. You have always been perfect to him, even in all your imperfections.
Hyunjin's lips that had slammed against yours, nearly knocking all the wind from your lungs, moves against yours as he kisses you. Your eyes are closed and you tiptoe further if it were possible.
You hardly have a moment to react before he presses his tongue to the seam of your lips and, at your grant of access, delves inside your mouth. It is a very sloppy kiss with the strong scent of beer that you think he must have had with his teammates, being exchanged in the intermingling of your billowing breaths. Your arms tighten around his thick, strong neck.
And you guess this is where being shorter than your boyfriend is a major con, a huge drawback.
Because, in all honesty, standing on your tiptoes for a long duration of time, even if it is when you are kissing your incredibly good-looking boyfriend that you are ready to jump at any minute from now, can be ridiculously exhausting. Your legs ached, muscles cramping up with slight pulls at it as a gentle reminder for you to stop stretching. And even the incredibly handsome Hwang Hyunjin's kisses could not stop it from feeling that way.
However, you would not let that stand in your way. Never in a million years. You are going to get your make out, and your stupid legs are definitely not going to be the reason as to why you were going to go to bed sexually frustrated.
You anchor yourself more firmly around Hyunjin's neck as he kisses you, sucking on your lower lip, moulding perfectly into your lips. You try to ignore the general exhaustion of your body and continue to persevere on. Although, cross your heart and hope to die, you prayed that he would just carry you and take you to bed only to hammer his big cock into you and take you to heaven and back.
However, as you open your eyes, you notice how calm Hyunjin is as he kisses you, drawing out every kiss with a passion that would take years to reach the bed. You sigh, deciding that holding on his shirt from behind would help you slightly.
Your feet begin cramping under all the standing on tiptoes and it reaches a point where you know you just have to land back on your feet. You let go of Hyunjin and fall back onto the ground and your boyfriend's eyes soften, worried if he did something wrong.
Hyunjin holds your hand, rubbing small circles into your palm and he is about to ask you what's wrong when you glare at him, “Damn it. Would you stop being so tall?”
Hyunjin's eyes widen, not expecting such a comment from you yet it amuses him. He lets out a surprised laugh, watching you with sheer joy and perhaps — no, most definitely — a small amount of adoration.
“It's not exactly something I can help with, babe." He tells you, teeth on display as he smiles widely. Hyunjin has trouble suppressing his laughter at your quick outburst but he finds his heart warming with love for you and bends forward to rub his nose against yours. "Moreover, you love my height."
Unwillingly, you feel the corners of your lip begin to tug into a huge smile. “Stop laughing. I'm being serious." Gesturing between the two of you, you complain, “Some of us have to do a lot of hard work for this, you know. My legs ache,” and you pout, bending down to rub the back of your hamstrings to soothe it out.
Hyunjin smiles at you, yet this time as you watch it, it seems like it held a lot more meaning. His gaze doesn't divert for even a minute as you complain, still smiling and holding your hand, rubbing his thumb into it.
"Hwang Hyunjin! Stop smiling," you whine. "This is a serio—"
Hyunjin lifts you up with such ease that it takes you aback. His arms wrap around your waist and he holsters you up above him, your legs wrapping instinctively around his waist. Immediately, his hands move to support you by your thighs, fingers slightly grazing the curve of your rear and your eyes widen.
"Hyunjin," your voice is raspier and drier after the small act of his. Your arms are around his neck once again but this time with less strain and force.
"Now, please," he sighs, locking his gaze with you as he holds you up with just one arm, the other brushing the hair that has moved forward, covering your vision. "Let me have my dessert."
He walks towards the walls by the kitchen, slamming your body with lesser impact than you had expected. You draw back into his lips that has crashed down onto yours. You can nearly feel the faint fatty taste of the beer as it rolls off his tongue to yours and seeps down your throat with every push of his tongue against yours.
It is magic, the way his lips connected with yours, tongue rolling against your hot muscle. His mouth is so warm, the caress of his lips softer than anything you could have remembered and you moan against him, arms raising upwards to allow your fingers to tangle them into his hair. You tug at them slightly every time you feel a hot rasp of air against your skin or when his obviously growing boner presses against the side of your thighs.
You stifle a surprised gasp as his soft lips leave yours, trailing down your skin, causing your entire body to flush with heat. This very heat seems to travel through your veins, warming you and subjectively leading you to feel slicker in your nether region as Hyunjin sucks at the skin by your neck, only letting go when he's happy with how bright red it is. Your head drops against his shoulder, moans leaving your lips as you feel his warm breath fan over your skin. Your fingers dig into his scalp and you worry if you'd cream your pantiesies just from Hyunjin laying out strong hickies against the skin by your neck.
He pulls away from your neck, hooded eyes locking with yours. The loud breathing between the two of you is the only thing distinctly audible in the house. In that split second before his touch every nerve in your body and brain is electrified. It is the anticipation of being together in a way that's more than words, in a way that's so completely tangible and you cup your boyfriend's face delicately, thumb grazing at the slight stubble by the jaw.
“Better?” He asks lowly, expression dark with desire as his forehead touches yours and you know exactly what he's talking about. However, your legs still wrapped around his, his erection visibly felt against your covered arousal — you exactly don't know if it was any better. Yes, your legs don't ache anymore, but something else aches and now you crave for him even more.
“Hm," you hum, voice parched and barely making a noise of agreement, before pulling him in again, without any intention of letting him go again in the foreseeable future. The noodles could wait. Fuck, even safety could wait for now. Hwang Hyunjin, delirious in want for you, could not wait.
Hours later, precisely your two orgasms and his one orgasm later, you are both lying satiated, tangled together in bed, your head rests gently on his broad muscled chest and his arms around your shoulder allows his hands to brush your hair softly as you both lay in the glory of it all.
And just maybe it is perhaps the beautiful way Hyunjin's one hand wraps completely and perfectly around your neck, you can't deny — it's perhaps hard to forget how tall Hwang Hyunjin is and you are glad.

Part Two
AN → You might all be wondering where I’ve been, I honestly just needed a bit of a break for my mental health! I’m sorry, I’ve missed taking to you all <3
Summary → When an alliance is made between England and France, you are sent away to marry the crown prince and heir to the British throne. Except both you and Prince Thomas despise each other at all odds, subjected to the hand of the monarchy and unable to stand each other.
Pairing(s) → Prince!Tom x Princess!Reader
Warnings → None
Word Count → 2.0k
“Could one of you run off and find out if my son is planning on gracing us all with his attendance.” Nicola’s voice was assertive, dripping with irritation at the Prince’s tardiness.
A man holding a closed box with an assortment of rings stood off to the side of the drawing-room. He was stiff, awkward even, in the presence of not only the Queen, but the Princess and future Queen of England. His eyes were trained on the freshly polished floors, clutching the velvet.
Behind you stood your newly introduced ladies in waiting, there were three: Lady Eloise, Lady Charlotte, and Lady Andrea. They were very young, pretty, and had very clearly come from aristocratic backgrounds. Each of them held a title, meaning they’d soon enough marry. You’d planned on meeting them for tea, but Queen Nicola figured it would be better to bring them in before you chose an engagement ring.
“Apologies, mum,” Tom came through the double doors, his hair skewed and his shirt disheveled. He bowed, taking a spot beside his mother and averting his eyes from you.
“Thomas, wonderful of you to join us,” she drawled. “Do begin, sir,” she said, motioning towards the man.
He opened the box a bit shakily, dozens of diamonds gleaming. They ranged from color to carrots of gold, each holding a different and more interesting background. You couldn’t help but to reach out and pick up one with a deep sapphire.
“That was once worn by the late Queen Elizabeth l,” he droned on, continuing to tell you about the long history of where the ring had come from and what it signified.
“What do you think, Thomas,” Nicola asked. She was practically beaming at each ring you slid onto your finger. Like no matter which one you chose, none would be the wrong choice.
“It is not I that will have to wear the dreadful thing,” he replied shortly. “Therefore, I should not be the person deciding which one she chooses, though I wish you’d quicken the pace a bit.”
“Since you’ve made it clear that you have no intention on weighing in on the decision, I ask you kindly, Prince Tom, to please refrain from commenting,” you quipped. He took a step back irritably, pulling at the collar of his undershirt.
You reached into the box once more, pulling out a large European cut diamond ring. The several diamonds displayed at the golden band left you lifting your hand, staring at your ring finger absentmindedly. It was classic, yet had too many diamonds to be considered simple. A royal staple, much like the tiara you’d eventually choose to wear on your wedding day.
“This one,” you said. “This is the one.”
The Queen drifted towards you, biting back excitement as she assessed the ring. It was clearly too large and would need to be sized, yet still had the same effect. She held it up as you had done, clutching your hand and motioning towards your ladies to come and look.
“That’s absolutely darling,” Charlotte mused.
“It’s stunning,” Andrea agreed.
The Prince soon enough took his leave, slipping out of the room before Nicola could notice his absence. She looked disappointed when she looked over and was met with an empty space where he’d just stood.
“He’ll come around soon enough,” she said, this was less reassuring to you and seemed more comforting for herself.
-
“Do tell me about yourself, Andrea,” you murmured on, arm in arm as you both perused the large gardens.
“Well theres not much to know, miss,” she replied swiftly.
“Please, I wish you’d call me Y/N in private company,” you laughed a bit. “I’ve never had much of a thing for titles.”
“Her Majesty would simply chastise me.”
There were blooming flowers and the grass was slowly becoming more and more green. The air was a bit brisk, the cloak draped along your shoulders thinner than you’d like. The soft breeze felt nice, though. Andrea was simple looking, pulled back brown hair and a heart-shaped face. She explained that she was one of three girls, the third daughter of an earl.
“I must admit, I do wish we’d have met under different circumstances,” you mused, plucking a lily from the shrubs.
“I’m not sure what you mean, miss,” she looked over at you a bit sideways.
“I just mean—well under the circumstance that I wasn’t being pawned off on the Prince.”
You fumbled at your skirts for a moment, pressing at the fabrics of your afternoon dress. It was ivory, beautiful, really. Though, much different from anything you’d have worn in France.
“I’m sure His Royal Highness will be as pleased as everyone else once you are both wed.”
“That’s hard to believe,” you chuckled. “He has hardly said a word to me since I arrived in London.”
She looked nervous, like she was afraid to say the wrong thing. Her cheeks flushed lightly, the glint in her eyes a bit brighter. Andrea just looked over to you and gave a soft smile, as if to say everything would be alright.
“Do you think that Prince Thomas is handsome?” You asked, curious of her opinion. You watched her cheeks redden, an awkward laugh escaping her lips.
“That is not for me to judge, miss,” she answered almost immediately.
“No—but, I just want your opinion, do you think he is handsome?” You asked once again.
She hesitated for a moment, “yes, I think the Prince is certainly very handsome.”
You thought for a moment, of his brown hair that had been swept back and so carelessly skewed about earlier in the morning. The way his freckles scattered lightly across his nose like a constellation, you’d only known this from when he’d pulled you in so closely the night before. He wore his signet ring proudly, this amongst what looked like another ring with a crest on it.
“Yes, I suppose he is quite handsome. Though, if I’ve learned anything, it is that looks count for almost nothing when you’re forced to spend everyday with a person.”
-
The quiet clattering of silverware sounded throughout the large room, beside you sat Prince Tom. Down the table were the two older princes, assuming the youngest, Prince Patrick, was still too young. At the head of the table was King Dominic, at his right was Queen Nicola. Occupying the rest of the table was an assortment of dukes and duchesses, earls and ladies.
It had been too late to join everyone for dinner the night before, so tonight was the first time you’d been in everyone’s company. The room was large, grand even, gold trim and deep royal red walls filled with paintings dating back centuries. Candles burned while you ate, attempting to steal a glance at the Prince while he spoke with his brother Harry.
It had taken you weeks studying the British monarchy to completely grasp their political and traditional protocol. You had to learn who to curtsy to and who not to, and then in what order, how to determine the sovereign and whether or not to address someone with a title or not to.
“Tell us, Y/N, how are you finding England?” The Queen chimed, staring at you from her seat across the table.
“Well, ma’am—I haven’t seen much of it, I do hope to see more. It is far different from France, though.”
A quiet murmur spread across the table, “I’ve always found the French quite curious,” a duchess, whom you could not recall the name of, said lowly.
“Curiously dreadful,” Tom laughed to himself in a whisper you were sure only you could hear.
“I’m sorry?” You turned towards him, the sound of your cutlery against the plate louder than you’d liked. “I thought you said something, sir.”
The King looked up at you, the scornful way in which you looked at Tom, seething at his teasing words. You felt the heat in your face spread when you noticed an almost surprised look from a majority of the long and stretching table.
The rest of dinner you kept quiet, avoiding the looks from the prince at your side. He seemed quite bothered, you put your head down and braced yourself once the King stood. Once the King finished his meal, everyone else was finished as well. He stood soundly, the paleness of his skin off-putting, the deep purple crescents underneath his eyes prominent in the candlelight.
You stood with everyone else, retiring to your chambers in a fleeting moment once it was appropriate to get away. The long, narrow halls were ages older than you, the artwork clearly showing that. You recognized past monarchs, the kings and queens of the years earlier. The twists and turns reminded you of a labyrinth, easy to get lost in.
Once you reached the double doors to your chambers, you pulled at them quickly, shutting them behind you soundly and sinking against the wall. The room was still filled with burning candles, the servant at your vanity looking at you curiously.
She curtsied quickly, motioning you off of the floor in a maternal way. You said nothing, letting her help you slip out of the evening gown and undo the tight lacing of your corset. You breathed deeply as she slipped the white nightgown over your head and took down the silver pins from your hair.
“Are you alright, miss?” She asked, the look on her face a bit concerned.
“Yes, just tired,” you excused. “I can put myself to sleep, thank you.”
“Are you sure, miss? I really do not mind,” she trailed off as you waved her away laughing stiffly.
“I am sure, thank you, Anne.”
You stared at yourself in the mirror, brushing through your hair as you sat. Anne had long left, the doors shut tightly and the guards posted at them for the night, however, you turned quickly at the sound of them creeping open.
“How thick in the head must you be?”
Prince Thomas.
“You should not be in here,” you warned. “It’s bad enough to be caught alone in the daytime without a chaperone, but at night—in my bedroom!” Your tone was sharp, your arms wrapping around yourself. His eyes scanned your bare ankles, the curve of your legs underneath the thin material.
“You need not be concerned about your virtue, not after what you decided to pull at dinner tonight, before mother and father! I mean seriously, it’s like you enjoy humiliating yourself in front of the whole family!”
His cheeks were flushed in anger, his eyes fixed on you. You hair was undone, your eyes stuck on him. The silence was deafening, the space between the both of you closing when you stood up and marched over to him.
“I have been here a day. A day! And you cannot allow me the luxury of my own chambers, parading in here like you were not the one who provoked me!” You rammed a finger into his chest, gaze not faltering as you looked up at him.
“I told mother, I told father. You are nothing but a child, a little girl with no clue what she’s getting herself into,” you flinched at his voice.
“I will be your wife—”
“You will be the Queen of England!” He shouted, “the way you acted tonight was not that of a queen, but an eighteen year old girl in way over her head.”
He grabbed the hand that had jabbed into his chest, skewing it to the side. “Do not forget yourself, Y/N. I can promise you this, if you cannot at least act like you have any idea what you’re doing, this engagement is off. I will not tarnish the name of my country, nor title or reputation for a French princess that I had no desire to wed in the first place.”

IF ONE MORE CUT-OUT, CRAFT-PAPER HEART HIT YOU IN THE FACE, YOU WERE GOING TO QUIT YOUR JOB.
Of course you would never actually quit. With your mother out of the picture and your father working nonstop overtime just to barely have enough cash to put food on the table for the both of you, you had come to rely on your minimum wage part-time hours more than you liked to admit. However, the handmade strings of paper hearts that hung from wall to wall throughout the entirety of the record shop you were employed at was enough to make you consider it; not to mention the Phil Collins record that had been spinning all day, filling your ears with melodies embodying the very air of romance, and the embarrassing pink sweater your boss had forced you to wear. You mumbled curses beneath your breath as you pulled at the collar, itching away at your neck.
When you made a step towards a crate full of records, ready to tidy it up after a customer had rummaged through it leaving it a mess, you were met with another face full of cheap red construction paper. With a large growl of exasperation, you swatted at the hearts and accidentally caused the entire string of them to fall to the ground. You cleared your throat, glad that no customers were present to see your little outburst.
Your boss, Jen, still saw it all.
“That’s not very festive of you, kid,” She said, taking a drag on her cigarette. “It’s Valentine’s Day! Lighten up.”
“Ah, my bad. I forgot that I was supposed to be overjoyed on the day honoring the execution of St. Valentine,” You said as you gave her a sarcastic smile. “I’ll make sure to smile at the next couple that walks in and ask them how they plan to contribute to the commercialization of a martyr’s death.”
“You must be real fun at parties,” Jen mumbled. She shook her cigarette at you from behind the counter. “You’re just bitter because you don’t have a valentine. I can’t blame anyone for giving you the cold shoulder with that attitude of yours.”
You scowled, picking up the string of hearts that you had sent crashing to the floor. “I’m not bitter, and I don’t want a date. Also, I told you to stop smoking inside! It smells awful.”
“Last I checked, this was my shop, not yours.” You rolled your eyes as you approached the counter, handing the discarded string to Jen so she could throw it in the trash. “Now you’re making me do chores for you too? You’ve got some nerve, I’ll give you that.”
“Jen, please, I’m really not in the mood for this today.”
Jen shrugged, bending towards the trash can to throw away the string of hearts when she paused and pulled something from the bin. You glanced over your shoulder and gasped when you saw what she held in her hand—a small red envelope with your name scrawled across the front and a pink heart-shaped sticker stuck on the back.
“What’s this?” Jen asked, opening the envelope and shaking out the contents. A single slip of paper fell out, landing atop the counter. You rushed to grab it, but Jen snatched it up just before your fingers reached the countertop.
“Give me that,” You insisted, face growing warm. “I threw it away for a reason!”
“It’s an invitation to a party?” She seemed beyond surprised, glancing back and forth between you and the paper several times. “You got invited to a Valentine’s Day party, and instead of going, you asked me to give you extra hours? Why?”
You looked down at your feet, digging the toe of your sneaker into the blue carpet. There were, in fact, many reasons why you did not want to go to that party. They were as follows:
One: Choi Yeonjun was the one who had invited you. After you had rejected his offer when he asked to take you to a basketball game a month before, you could barely make eye contact with him in the school hallway without feeling guilty. That and the fact that he was one of the richest preps in the school, you knew he had just been asking you out for some sort of prank or dare that you preferred to not potentially fall victim to.
Two: you needed to work as much as you could. Money, as always, was tight for you and your father. There was no way you would sacrifice precious hours to go to a party full of rich kids where nothing but humiliation was sure to await you.
Three: your old childhood friend and the one person you couldn’t bear to see was probably going to be there—Choi Soobin.
You had barely spoken to Soobin in the four years you had been in high school. Crossing paths with him in the cafeteria, turning down the same aisle of books as him in the library, all those tiny stolen glances and accidental encounters were the only bits of interaction you had kept throughout all that time. The worst part was, he hadn’t done anything wrong.
It was nothing but your own cowardice that had driven the two of you apart, and you were still too afraid to own up to it.
Instead of explaining all of this to Jen, you simply shrugged and said, “I dunno. It just sounds lame.”
Your boss sighed, holding the invitation out towards you. “Okay, I’m letting you off early. Go to the party.”
With wide eyes, you shook your head immediately. “Absolutely not. Why in the world would I go?”
“Well, first of all, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for you. Who knows when your next chance to go to a party will be.”
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at that.
“Second, it’s a holiday! The only reason I even opened today was because you were begging me for hours. I thought it was because you were bummed about having no plans, but clearly it’s because you wanted an excuse to be a recluse.”
“Hey, I’m not a recluse.”
“Clearly.” She shook the invitation at you once more, brows raised. “If you go, I’ll raise your pay by fifty cents for the next month.”
Your ears perked up at that.
“Well?” She asked, well aware that she had hit the jackpot. “What'd ya say?”
Weighing the risks against the benefits, you bit the inside of your cheek.
“Make it a dollar and you’ve got a deal.”
-
“HAPPY VALENTINE’S, CHOI.”
When Soobin heard the sarcastic remark coming from his best friend, Felix, he had to fight back the urge to burst into tears then and there. He still wasn’t quite sure how Felix had convinced him to come, but he was already regretting it. The last thing he wanted to do to celebrate the day dedicated to love was spend it at a house party—or, as Soobin preferred to call them, any outcast high school kid’s version of hell on earth.
With a quick peek between his fingers, which he had used to cover his eyes immediately upon arriving at the site of the Valentine’s party, Soobin caught another eye-full of couples getting all too familiar with one another out in the open. He gulped, letting his hands grip the handles of the bike as he averted his gaze, choosing to cast his best glare at Felix, who was busy adjusting his ever-present beanie.
“Shut up,” he murmured, slowly sliding off the seat of his bike. He dusted off the worn, tearing cushion, glancing around the area. “Now quick, we gotta put our stuff somewhere safe.”
Felix looked aghast, making no moves to help Soobin in his search for a hiding spot. “What are you doing?”
“Tryna find a safe place for my bike?” He thought the answer to be somewhat obvious, but clearly Felix wasn’t on the same track of thinking. “You don’t know today’s world! Anyone is willing to steal nowadays.”
“Soobin, your bike is coughing up oil from its chains. It should be in its own care home at this rate.”
“I don’t wanna hear your slander, skater boy,” Soobin retorted, eyeing Felix’s ebony skateboard that he refused to be seen without. As if on cue, when he pushed his bike forward, the chains squealed, drawing the attention of a pair of particularly passionate individuals who had been wrapped up with one another moments before. Soobin ignored their annoyed stares, feeling his ears burn from embarrassment. He glanced back to Felix. “Help me find a hiding spot.”
Felix was anything but enthusiastic, but he began to help Soobin search nonetheless.
“Slide it in here, Soobs,” Felix called a few moments later. He was pointed to an empty space between the home’s perfectly trimmed bushes. Soobin pursed his lips together, pushing his large glasses further up the bridge of his nose—a nervous tick of his. Felix groaned, rolling his eyes. “Or you can leave it out in the open so it’ll spit more oil on the passersby? Is that what you want?”
“Fine, fine!” Soobin huffed, wheeling his bike over to the shrubbery, chains squeaking all the way. He carefully laid it beneath the brush and moved a few branches to cover it up nicely. He stood up straight, dusting his hands on the front of his loose blue jeans. “What about your skateboard?”
Felix gave the board a pat, awarding his most prized possession a dazzling smile one would expect to see a proud father giving his beloved son. But in reality, it was the school’s stoner grinning ear to ear at his old, dusty skateboard. “Nightrider stays with me.”
Soobin scrunched his nose, cringing on instinct. He still calls that thing by that stupid name?
Felix clapped him on the shoulder before he could make a remark, catching him off guard when he said, “Right. Let’s go and get your girl.”
There was nothing Soobin could do to stop the flush that rushed to his cheeks right away. Images of you, his ex-best friend and the only reason he had even come to this party in the first place, flashed through his mind. Had he not overheard Yeonjun invite you earlier that morning and then casually mention the encounter to Felix, there was no way he would have even stepped foot out of his house that night. Part of him was peeved, wishing he had never uttered a single word about you to his overbearing friend. Yet, deep down, there was hope within him—the tiniest sliver.
If there was even the slightest chance that he could talk to you that night, he would do anything. Even if it meant dealing with a stupid party, and the never-ceasing teasing he was bound to continue receiving from Felix.
“Don’t even say that,” He said, emphasizing each word as they walked up the front steps. Soobin had to glance down at his much shorter friend to see the devious grin on his freckled face.
“Say what? That she’s your girl, your woman, your one and only?”
The blush must have been creeping to his neck by that point. He could feel it. “I. . .” There were many things Soobin wished to say; angry words that would hopefully shut the blonde skater boy up real quick. But he couldn’t bring himself to say a single harsh word, so he sighed in defeat. “I can’t even say it.”
“That you hate me?” Felix only grinned even bigger, and Soobin couldn’t help the tiny defeated smile that slipped over his features. “Oh, I know. It’s because I’m too good of a best friend.”
They stepped into the house then, instantly being overwhelmed by loud music, boisterous laughter, and drunken yells echoing throughout the halls. Soobin latched onto Felix right away, gripping his friend’s sleeve as someone stumbled into him, a bit of beer spilling from their cup. He pushed his glasses up, only for them to slide right back down as he began to sweat.
“Maybe we should go home, Lix!” Soobin shouted to be heard over the noise as they travelled further into the house. “We can always try next year!”
“Stop being a scaredy-cat!” Felix shouted back, and Soobin thought he might actually begin to cry as they squeezed their way into the living room. Soobin nearly gagged at the strong smell of alcohol as it burned in his nose. The scene was nothing short of a nightmare to Soobin—loud voices, smoke rising in the air, vodka assaulting his nose and sweat beading on the back of his neck. He had never been one to drink, and he didn’t plan on starting that night; but he was beginning to understand what Felix meant when he had once told him it was nearly impossible to get through one of these parties sober.
He was about to make another complaint and beg to leave when someone from the crowd hollered his name, causing him to wince when he recognized that voice as the one that belonged to none other than Choi Yeonjun.
“Soobin! Where you been?”
Soobin smiled nervously at the school’s heartthrob—and textbook snobby rich kid—before he turned back to Felix. He didn’t want to leave his friend, but he knew that he would never hear the end of it if he ignored Yeonjun’s persistent calls. “I’ll be right back,” He promised Felix, still holding onto his sleeve.
“No, no,” Felix assured. “You go. You’ll probably find her around that place anyway.”
Soobin wasn’t so sure of that. You were definitely not of the right social standing to be caught amongst the circle of the school’s rich boys—which was why it had surprised Soobin that Yeonjun had invited you to the party in the first place. Your high school had its own caste system, and you were near the bottom of it.
And, as much as it pained him to admit it, Soobin was stuck at the very top with all the other rich snobs who cared about nothing more than their daily allowances that came straight from their daddy’s bank account.
“What about you, buddy?” He asked Felix, desperate for any excuse to remain by his friend’s side. He would have tried to bring Felix with him, but his friend was in an even worse social standing than you were—he was poor, and he was most known for being the school’s pothead. There was no way Soobin would willingly drag him into a situation where nothing but slander and torment awaited him.
“Me?” Felix shrugged, gripping his board tighter. “I’ll just smoke away the night.”
Soobin pouted, glancing back at the group of preps as they called for him once again. He sighed, clapping Felix on the shoulder. “Just make sure you won’t smell too much of it when I come back.”
Submitting himself to his doom then, he turned on his heel and slowly made his way to where the group of  boys sat near the sofa, giving them a half-hearted wave.
“Why were you hanging around that Felix guy?” Yeonjun asked once Soobin had reached their circle. “Did he blackmail you or something?”
Soobin frowned, pushing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. “He’s my friend.”
Yeonjun rolled his eyes, brushing a hand through his perfectly-straightened ebony locks. “Sure he is. Tell me, do you see every kid you find on the streets as some sort of personal charity project? Or is it just Felix and—what was her name—” He snapped his fingers then before he said, “Y/N, right?”
Soobin didn’t respond—well, it was more like he couldn’t respond. By nature he was a very passive being, but nothing drew him closer to bouts of anger than when the people he cared about were being insulted right before him.
Especially when it came to you.
Yet, as much as he wanted to tell Yeonjun off or give him a nice shove into the smoke-stained walls, words failed him. They always did. Perhaps this was why you had abandoned him all those years ago. Nobody knew him better than you did, so of course you were able to see what he truly was beneath all the expensive clothes and nervous laughter—a coward.
He figured that he’d probably have left himself too.
“Drink up, buttercup.” The chipper voice that belonged to the other Choi in the small gathering of socialites, Choi Beomgyu, thrust a plastic red cup towards Soobin’s chest.
He shook his head, throwing another wavering smile in his direction. “No thanks. I don’t drink.”
Yeonjun rolled his eyes. “Of course you don’t. Why are you even here then?”
Once again, Soobin chose silence as his only response. He swallowed, patting the front pocket of his denim jacket. As the group of boys began conversing once more, he couldn’t help but let his eyes wander around the room, searching every drunken face for the features that belonged to you, trying to hear your name in every conversation, desperate for your voice to break through the blasting music and shouting voices.
“Who ya looking for there, Big Choi?” Soobin grimaced at the nickname. He was skinny, but incredibly tall, and nobody would let him forget that. “Big Choi” was one of his most common nicknames among the elitists. He despised it, but of course, he would never voice that aloud.
He glanced at Beomgyu and smiled nervously again, shaking his head. “Nobody.”
His eyes met Yeonjun’s and he gulped yet again as the latter eyed him with suspicion. It wasn’t as though he had anything to hide, but something about Yeonjun’s calculating gaze made his skin crawl.
He needed to escape. Just for a moment, at least.
“I’ll be right back. Going to find some water.”
He slipped out of the living room then, apologizing profusely to each couple he accidentally bumped into, bowing in remorse to each person’s toes his big feet happened to stumble over. He ached to be by Felix’s side—the stoned skateboarder had become somewhat of a security blanket to the taller of the duo—but his blonde friend was nowhere to be seen.
After snagging a bottle of water from the kitchen, Soobin managed to slip into an empty bathroom. He slammed the door shut and wasted no time in locking it. Letting out the biggest sigh of relief, he closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the door, taking a big gulp of the ice cold water.
He set the bottle on the counter and carefully reached into the front pocket of his jacket, his fingers finding the piece of paper he had been storing there all evening. He pulled it out and let his eyes wander over his middle school creation. It was a big heart, cut out from a scrap piece of red construction paper. Scrawled across it in his eight-grade handwriting were the words, Be mine this Valentine’s! His name was etched at the bottom, and at the very top, delicately printed in hot pink glitter glue, your name was written as well.
He had planned to give this to you four years ago on Valentine’s day. Everything had been planned out perfectly; he was to pick you up on his old, trusty bike. It wasn’t really made for two people, but the two of you had fashioned a makeshift extra seat for you to sit upon whenever you went places together.
He wanted to take you to the Dairy Shack, which was the local ice cream shop where the two of you spent the most time together. You always got a large chocolate shake to share, playing a quick game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who got to eat the cherry on top. He was going to order a shake and specially ask for two cherries that time, and planned to give both of them to you before he would bravely present you with the handmade card he had spent all day working on.
However, when he waited for you outside your house that day, the red dusk turned to pitch black night, and you never stepped foot out your door.
He had even gone up to your door a few times and knocked, but there was no answer. Eventually he pedalled off into the night, back to his house. He was disappointed, of course, but more worried than anything else. He had hoped you weren’t sick.
But when he saw you at school the next day, he knew that hadn’t been the case.
And when you ignored him calling your name as you passed by him in the hallways, he knew that something had drastically changed.
For weeks, Soobin was in great turmoil as he replayed your last few encounters together before you had stood him up. Perhaps you were angry that he had won the last few games of rock, paper, scissors? If he had known, he would have given you all the cherries for the rest of time if it meant you would still talk to him. He didn’t care about them—he cared about you.
He missed you.
And as weeks turned to months, and months turned to years, you still barely spoke to him, and he missed you more and more. The best friend he had wanted to take a step closer to had taken a thousand steps back from him, and he still had no idea why.
But that night, he was determined to find out.
Well, if he could muster up the courage to get a single word out, of course.
He folded the heart back up and stuck it back in his pocket, taking a deep breath as he observed himself in the fogged-up mirror. He fixed his bright blue hair that Felix had helped him bleach and dye, making sure the pieces fell over the corners of his eyes just right. He straightened his white turtleneck and cuffed the sleeves of his denim jacket until he was at least somewhat content with his appearance.
“You can do this, Soobs,” He told himself, adjusting his big round glasses further up the bridge of his nose. “That’s what Felix would say.”
“Hey, rich boy!” A loud scream came from outside the bathroom door, accompanied by harsh knocking that sent Soobin stumbling backwards until he fell in the shower, pulling the curtains down with him.
“Hurry up in there! I’m about to piss myself!”
Soobin let out a shaky sigh, scrambling to his feet as he rushed to fix the curtain he had torn down with his clumsiness. “Sorry,” he mumbled, though he doubted the person on the other side of the door could hear him.
He realized then with an ever growing dread that it would be a miracle if he survived the night long enough to even find you, but it would take the work of God himself for him to actually speak to you.
He figured it was time for him to start praying.
YOU KNEW IT WAS A MISTAKE TO LET JEN DO YOUR MAKEUP.
When she had stopped you on your way out the door with a compact of bright purple eyeshadow, you had turned her down right away. No way in all of creation were you walking in a party with such an atrocious color caked up to your brow bone.
“How can you say it’s gonna look bad if you haven’t even let me try?” Jen had asked.
You had given her a once-over, your lips pressed into a thin line. “If it’s gonna look anything like the way you do your own makeup, I’m gonna have to pass.”
After that snide remark, she had threatened to fire you if you didn’t let her apply the makeup. And so you obliged, though you didn’t have much of a choice.
The booming sounds of the party hit your ears before you had even reached the lawn. Screaming teens—well, there were probably some adults thrown in there as well—and the sound of music spilled through the open windows of the home. Couples and singles alike were scattered throughout the perfectly kept lawn that was now littered with empty cups and other assortments of garbage.
You looked down at your patchwork jeans and pink sweater, certain that you would be underdressed compared to the rest of the partygoers. But from the looks of things, as you carefully squeezed your way through the front door and into the home, everyone was probably too wasted to even notice your arrival, let alone care about your looks.
You caught a glimpse of your face in the hallway mirror, cringing at the sight of your eyeshadow. You had tried to wipe some of it away before arriving, but it simply smudged, giving you quite the shocking smoky, purple eye look. For someone who didn’t even know the difference between a paintbrush and a makeup brush, it was a bold look, to say the least.
If Soobin saw you looking like this, he’d probably have a heart attack.
Soobin.
In the midst of all your frantic preparation, you had nearly forgotten about the main reason why you had planned to avoid this party at all costs. With a quick glance around the room, you realized that he was nowhere to be seen. You wouldn’t have been surprised if he hadn’t shown up at all. He was never a fan of parties, anyway.
You crossed your arms over your chest and slowly slipped past the couples crowding the hallway with their limbs intertwined, mouths practically swallowing one another whole, until you reached the living room. Surprisingly, it was less crowded in here than you thought it might be. A few minglers were scattered about the room’s perimeter, but they all kept away from the center of the room, which was occupied by none other than Choi Yeonjun and all his brainless, rich-boy worshippers. You quickly scanned the group, not able to make out Soobin among them. When you realized he wasn’t there, you were partly relieved and partly disappointed. If was to be anywhere at this party, it would probably be with these guys.
With a quick turn on your heel, you planned to make your way out of the living room before Yeonjun could see you. The last thing you wanted was for the boy with a bruised ego to see you, regardless of whether or not he had been the one to invite you.
“Y/N? You came?”
Too late.
Plastering a forced grin to your face, you slowly turned to face Yeonjun, who had just called your name. He was eyeing you with slight surprise, but soon, a smirk slipped across his lips as he motioned for you to come over. You had to hold back your sigh, wishing there was some way for you to get out of this situation. It was all Jen’s fault that you had to show up in the first place. You decided you were going to demand an extra ten cents be added to your raise the next time you saw your pushy boss.
“Hey Yeonjun,” you said once you had walked over to him. “I figured I’d stop by for a minute or two, since you were kind enough to invite me.”
He smirked, glancing at a few of his friends. They shared a knowing laugh with one another, but the meaning of it was lost to you. You wanted nothing more than to get away from them, but that wasn’t an option.
“You’re too busy to go out with me to a basketball game but free enough to come to a party, huh?” He asked.
You blinked, digging your nails into your arms. “I’m sorry?”
“It’s fine, really,” He drawled, swirling his plastic cup of beer in his hand. “You didn’t think I’d be upset or anything did you? I only asked you out because I was dared to shack up with you. But I’m guessing you already knew that, since you’re so smart and all.”
Your eyes went wide, but you managed to control the rest of your expression. It was just like you had guessed—Yeonjun had invited you to the party with the sole purpose of making a scene.
If you survived the night, Jen was never going to hear the end of it.
“You’re not gonna say anything?” He asked, pushing himself to his feet. You could tell by the slight stumble in his step and his hooded eyes that he had quite a bit to drink. He took a step towards you, causing you to back up immediately. Your back hit the wall, and you placed your palms against it as Yeonjun towered over you.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. I know why you’re here anyways.” He leaned forward, his lips hovering near your ear. “You’re here to see Soobin, aren’t you? Since he’s the only one here willing to waste his time on filth like you.”
Your blood boiled, and you had to clench your fists at your sides to control your anger.
“Don’t,” You seethed, “Call me that.”
“Call you what? Filth? Or sweetheart? Why, is that something good old Binnie used to call you—”
He never got to finish that sentence, because with one big burst of anger, you stomped on his toe as hard as you could with your worn-out platform sneaker.
“What the hell!” He screeched, drawing the attention of several others in the room. His outburst even caused a few of the couples to pull away from each other’s faces long enough to eavesdrop.
Before you could even say anything back, lukewarm liquid was splashed up in your face, burning your eyes and nose. You gasped, running your hands over your eyes to see Yeonjun with his now empty cup of beer pointed towards you.
“Think twice before you act out against me next time, sweetheart. Never forget your place.”
Tears of anger burned in your eyes, and you scanned the room to see several people exchanging whispers and giggles as they glanced in your direction. You pushed past Yeonjun and quickly made your way out the back door of the house, unable to stand the humiliation for a moment longer.
Soobin arrived in the living room just in time to see you leave.
He wasted no time in rushing towards Yeonjun, grabbing hold of his arm. “Yeonjun, was that Y/N?” He asked, eyes quickly taking in the puddle of alcohol on the floor and the empty cup in Yeonjun’s hand. “What happened?”
“Nothing you need to worry your pretty blue head about, Big Choi. I just put her in her place is all.”
Soobin’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean you ‘put her in her place?’”
Yeonjun laughed, giving Soobin a nonchalant pat on the back. “Just drop it, would you? It has nothing to do with you.”
“What did you say, Yeonjun?”
Yeonjun was growing irritated now. He huffed out a breath, crossing his arms over his chest. “I said it has nothing to do with you, Soobin. I know you like to hang around people like that pothead Felix, but the rest of us live in the real world, where we’d rather not waste our time with those who have no future anyways. I bet he’s the one that got you to dye your hair that god awful blue, isn’t he?”
Soobin bit the inside of his cheek. He so badly wished to rip Yeonjun to shreds then and there. If he had Felix’s courage, the cocky bastard would have been knocked to the ground ages ago. But if there was one thing Soobin was sure he could never be, it was brave. And so, despite his rage, he remained silent, his eyes practically burning a hole through Yeonjun’s chest from how intently he was glaring.
It seemed as though Yeonjun was about to say something, but his eyes landed on the bit of red that peeked through the front pocket of Soobin’s denim jacket. Before Soobin had time to defend himself, Yeonjun had reached forward and snatched it from his pocket, revealing the large paper heart—his valentine for you.
“So this is why you care so much,” Yeonjun said, laughing as his eyes scanned the glittery words that decorated the page. “You want her to be your valentine.”
“Give that back,” Soobin said quietly, his hands beginning to shake.
Yeonjun instead lifted his eyes to Soobin, gave him a sickly sweet grin, and ripped the heart straight down the middle. He let the two pieces fall from his hands to the ground, and with them Soobin’s heart went also.
“You’re really willing to try and go against me, and for what? For the sake of a girl who can’t even afford a new pair of jeans and a boy that smokes his life away in the bathroom stalls?” Yeonjun took a slow step towards Soobin, his eyes glinting with a sinister determination. “You may be rich, Soobin, but if you choose to lower yourself to their standards, you may as well be dirt poor just like they are.”
With his hands clenched into tight fists, his glasses sliding down his nose, and his heart quite literally in two pieces on the floor below him, Soobin decided that he had had enough.
“I’d much rather be associated with people who are kind and have actual depth to their character than be lumped together with a bunch of pricks like you with no real personality—because that’s something you can’t buy with daddy’s paycheck.”
He had to physically restrain himself from slapping his hand across his own mouth in shock. It was as if the spirit of Felix himself had possessed him to say such harsh things. He wondered where Felix was then, wishing more than ever before to have his best friend by his side as he began to tremble from either the rush of adrenaline that coursed through his veins, or from fear. Or perhaps it was both.
He didn’t have time to ponder it any longer before Yeonjun’s fist collided with his nose, resulting in a sickening crack as pain echoed throughout his face in tidal waves.
He stumbled backward as people began to shout, raising his hand to his nose and gasping when he saw that his palm was covered in blood.
Beomgyu had his arms wrapped around Yeonjun, who was desperately trying to lunge towards Soobin once again.
“Knock it off, Yeonjun!” Beomgyu shouted, pushing the elder back. “His dad is on the school board! Are you trying to get expelled?”
Beomgyu looked over his shoulder at the still stunned Soobin, who was gaping at the blood that now stained his once white turtleneck.
“Get lost, Soobin,” Beomgyu said, to which Soobin only blinked in reply, his ears ringing.
“Now!”
Head spinning, Soobin picked up the two halves of his paper heart, stuffed them into his jeans, and stumbled out the same door he had seen you go through just minutes before. After checking to make sure his glasses were still intact—they were, thankfully—he shook his head in an effort to clear his mind of the static, eyes scanning the front lawn looking for any trace of you.
It didn’t take long for his eyes to spot you among the now dwindling crowd of partygoers. Your bright pink sweater stood out against the darkness, so he was able to recognize you even with your back towards him. He sniffed, wiping the back of his hand against his dripping nose as he slowly made his way to where you sat on the curb, your feet planted on the asphalt street. He wished that he looked a bit more presentable—when he played this scene out in his head over the years in which he would finally reunite with you, he never imagined himself dazed and covered in blood.
Desperate times called for desperate measures, he supposed.
When he reached you, he simply stood beside you in silence for a moment, unsure of what to say. He could tell that you sensed his presence, but you refused to look up at him as you kept your face buried in your hands. He could have sworn he heard a few muffled sobs slip through your fingers, but of course, he wasn’t going to bring that up.
Eventually he decided to slip his jacket off of his shoulders, leaning down to drape it over you. You still kept your head down as he sat beside you on the curb, but he watched you grip the jacket and pull it tighter around your body. He smiled a bit, holding the collar of his turtleneck against his throbbing nose.
“Thank you,” you muttered, wiping your hand across your eyes. You finally looked over at him, and when you did, you couldn’t hold back your gasp. “My God Soobin, what happened to your face?”
“Oh, well, I might have gotten punched,” He said quickly, trying to wave off your concern. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Punched? By who?”
He looked down at the ground, sniffing as a drop of blood hit the pavement. “Yeonjun,” he muttered under his breath.
“I’m sorry, did you just say Yeonjun? Are you insane? Why on earth would you butt heads with the Choi Yeonjun?”
Soobin didn’t say anything in response, he simply stared at you, eyes wide with beer dripping off the ends of your hair, makeup smeared across your face, your sweater stained down the front. It didn’t seem to take long for you to put the pieces together, as the shock left your face and was replaced with something akin to guilt.
“Oh,” You said, looking back down at your shoes.
“So she knows that I did it all for her,” Soobin thought.
For some reason, the idea of that both terrified and excited him.
A second later, he glanced over to see you ripping one of the hand-sewed patches of fabric off your jeans, leaving a square of your skin exposed to the chilly night air. You leaned towards him, pushing his hand away from his nose so you could use the patch to clean up some of the blood on and around his puffy red nose.
“Y/N, your pants!” He exclaimed, trying to push your hand away. “They’re ruined!”
“I’m not worried about my pants, you idiot,” You said, swatting his hand away as you continued to press the cloth against his skin. “You got punched in the face because of me, this is the least I could do.”
“That was my choice though,” He muttered, although he stopped trying to resist your touch. He ignored the way his heart thrummed harder in his chest, hoping that you couldn’t hear.
“Well, this is my choice too.” Your eyes flicked to his for a brief moment, your bottom lip pulled between your teeth. “Why did you do it, by the way?”
“Do what?”
“Stand up to Yeonjun for me and get a nasty nosebleed as a result.”
“Oh.” He blinked slowly, keeping his eyes fixed on yours. “Just ‘cause.”
“Because . . . ?”
“Because of you.” He blurted, causing your hand to go still against him. He swallowed his fear, braving the best smile that he could. “Just you. That was my only reason.”
You didn’t say anything as your hand fell from his face, the cloth clutched between your fingers. The anxiety he had tried his best to suppress came rushing up all at once, and he was surprised that his ears didn’t begin to squeal like a tea kettle from all the pressure.
“Y/N,” He said, gently placing his hand over yours despite how his fingers trembled. “Why did you pull away from me?”
“What?”
“Four years ago. Why did you stop talking to me?”
You were quiet for a moment, digging into the ground with the toe of your sneaker. Soobin held his breath until you finally replied with, “I was afraid.”
“Afraid? Of what?”
“We were getting older, Binnie,” You said, and his heart skipped at the use of your old nickname for him. “You and I, we’re from very different walks of life. You get to hang out with people like Yeonjun, whereas I get a cup of beer poured all over my face just for existing, and you get a fist to the nose for trying to stand up for me. We’re from different sides of the track, one might say.”
“So?” Soobin asked, his hand tightening around yours. “Did you really think that would affect us that much, Y/N?”
You frowned, glancing down at his hand over yours.
“I thought you’d be embarrassed of me,” You said, your voice barely above a whisper.
“Embarrassed?” Soobin’s eyes went wide as he gripped your hand tighter still, pulling it into his lap. “Y/N, I would never, ever be embarrassed of you. Besides, have you seen my best friend? He’s on a first name basis with the principal because of how often he gets written up for smoking behind the school. If I’m not embarrassed of him, why would I ever be embarrassed of you?”
You laughed, wiping the back of your hand across your eyes once more. “I guess I was worried about nothing, huh?” You sniffed, giving his hand a squeeze. “I’m sorry, Soobin.”
He shook his head, squeezing your hand right back. “Don’t apologize. You’re here now, that’s what matters. Do think we could—you know—”
“Pick up where we left off?” You smiled, nodding vigorously. “I’d like that very much, Binnie.”
He beamed then, almost pinching himself to be sure that he was not dreaming, but the pain in his nose was real enough to remind him of that on its own. He jumped to his feet, pulling you right up with him.
“In that case, how about we finally go on that Valentine’s date I had planned all the way back then?”
“Date?” You asked, a brow raised. “Is it really considered a date if two friends are just hanging out?”
He didn’t respond as he pulled you along behind him towards the bushes where he and Felix had hidden his bike. He crouched down and moved the branches aside, feeling his heart drop to his stomach when he realized that his bike was, in fact, no longer there.
He shot up, turning to face you with eyes wide. “Felix—that bastard took my bike!”
You were quiet for a moment, but then, you burst into boisterous laughter, leaving Soobin utterly confused.
“It’s not funny, Y/N!” He whined, shoving your shoulder lightly. “I was supposed to take you to the Dairy Shack on my bike!”
“It is funny,” You said between bursts of laughter. “Only you would get such a rusty old piece of metal stolen from you.”
He pushed his lips out in a pout, sliding his glasses up his sore nose. “It’s a good bike, don’t make fun of it.”
You grinned, interlocking his fingers with yours, which was enough to instantly wipe the pout right off his face.
“Let’s just walk, Binnie. The Dairy Shack isn’t that far anyways.”
You were right; the walk to your favorite milkshake place was very close to the house where the party had occurred. Although Felix stealing his bike had thrown an obvious wrench in his plans, it was a minor hiccup, and one he could most definitely handle. Besides, he wouldn’t have to see Felix until the next day anyways. He could deal with his frustration then.
At least, that’s what he thought anyways, until the two of you spotted Felix at the skatepark on your way to the dairy shack.
Soobin’s eyes took in the deplorable sight before him—from where he stood on the dimly lit sidewalk, he could see Felix and a girl he had never seen before, their faces nearly pressed together, and most importantly, with his bike discarded a few yards away from them.
“Soobin,” You said, tugging on his arm. “They look like they’re busy, let’s just go—”
But Soobin, who had little patience when it came to Felix messing up his plans, didn’t let you finish before he screamed, “Give me back my freaking bike!”
You had to hold back your snort of laughter at his choice of words. Even when he was trying to sound angry, he was undeniably adorable.
Soobin watched as Felix startled, clutching his spliff between his fingers as he glared daggers back at his friend. Soobin gulped, trying not to let his fear show on his face. What did he have to be afraid of, anyways? He was the victim of thievery, and his best friend was the offender.
Felix took a big step towards him, but he paused, his eyes landing on your interlocked hands. Soobin glanced down as well, his face growing furiously warm as he realized the situation he had gotten himself into.
He decided to divert the subject before it could even be brought up by saying, “I can’t believe you stole my bike! All this time I was trying to hide it from strangers, but you, my best friend! I should’ve been hiding it from you!”
Soobin noticed Felix’s female companion step off the skateboard and walk over in his direction, and for a second he felt bad for possibly ruining her night with his best friend. However, his frustration was more prominent in the moment as he fixed his gaze back on his best friend, who had fixed a mischievous smirk upon his face that made warning sirens blare in Soobin’s head right away.
“Now, now, buddy,” Felix said, his voice calm and carefree as ever. It probably had something to do with what he had just smoked, but Soobin didn’t care all that much. “You’re just gonna have to let me borrow it for a little longer.”
Soobin nearly laughed at the audacity of such a statement. “You are gonna give me the bike, or—”
“How about this, Soobs?” Soobin’s lips clamped shut at his friend’s interruption, as the thief in question gestured with his joint to where Soobin’s fingers were locked with yours. “You let me keep your bike for the night, and I don’t tell your dad about you hanging out with the opposite gender.”
Unable to control yourself, you let out a big laugh. Soobin would have felt betrayed, but he was more terrified than anything else at the idea of his father finding out that he was taking a girl out without his permission. He would be grounded for weeks—no, months.
“You wouldn’t.”
Felix’s lips curled up even more into a twisted grin that Soobin wished he had the guts to slap off his face. “God, just imagine the look on Mr. Choi’s face. Imagine him finding out about your premarital hand holding.”
No. Not the hand holding.
Soobin almost felt faint, but he steeled himself to the best of his abilities as he cleared his throat. “One night, Lix,” he warned. “If I don’t see it on my porch in the morning, you’ll be sorry!”
“Oh, I’m so scared,” Felix teased. His expression changed a moment later though, when he finally noticed Soobin’s swollen nose and blood-stained turtleneck. “Wait, Soobs, the hell happened to you?”
Soobin, however, had already taken his first steps away from the skatepark, pulling you along behind him. “I’ll tell you later, bud. Enjoy your spliff with that kind girl who you probably don’t deserve!”
“Hey!”
Soobin couldn’t help but laugh as he swung your interlocked hands together, grinning as you let out a laugh as well. The anger that had seeped through him seemed to melt away in an instant as the two of you continued your journey to the Dairy Shack.
“Would your dad really be that upset if he found out about this?” You asked.
Soobin grimaced. “We should probably wait til next year to tell him about this outing. Or maybe the year after that.”
When the two of you had finally reached the Dairy Shack, you waited outside for him while he went in to order your drink. A large chocolate milkshake, with two straws, just like you used to get every time before.
When he had the drink in hand, he walked back outside and sat down beside you on the curb, smiling as you wrapped his jacket tighter around your shoulders. You smiled back up at him, your eyes creasing from the expression. Your smile had always struck him right to his core; he had missed seeing it every day.
He hoped he could see it every morning and every night from that day onward. There was no way he would let you go this time.
He just had to muster up the courage to grab hold of you first.
“You know what, Binnie, you turned out to be a lot taller than I thought you ever would be,” you said as you took one of the straws from his hands. “You’re actually enormous. It’s shocking.”
“Should I find that offensive? It sounds kinda like an insult.”
“Take it however you will,” You teased, leaning over as he popped the plastic lid off the milkshake. He grabbed the cherry by the stem and held it towards you.
“What are you doing?” You asked, holding out your fist. “We have to rock, paper, scissors for it. Remember?”
Soobin laughed as he shook his head. “I’m giving it to you this time. It’s what I planned to do all those years ago, when I asked you to hang out on Valentine’s.”
You seemed to be taken aback, but you simply shrugged as you plucked the cherry from his hand and pulled it from the stem with your teeth, glancing back over at him. It was silent for a moment, but then your eyes landed on the pocket of his jeans, where you could see a bit of red paper poking out. You leaned over even further, reaching your hand out to snatch the paper.
“What are you—hey! Give that back!”
Soobin desperately tried to take his Valentine back from you, but it was too late. You held both halves of what used to be a whole in your hands, your eyes scanning the words as you pieced them together.
“Soobin . . .”
He held his breath. Had his act of young love left you completely speechless? Were you so touched that you would burst into tears?
“This looks like a middle schooler made it.”
He let out the breath in the form of a long, long sigh.
“That’s because it was made by a middle schooler,” He said as he set the milkshake down beside him. “I made it back in the eighth grade. I planned to give it to you that Valentine’s.”
“Oh.” You ran your finger along the card’s surface, the smallest smile creeping across your lips. “Well in that case, it’s not half bad. Why’s it ripped though?”
“Ah—well, Yeonjun . . .”
You nodded, taking another glance at his swollen nose. “No need to elaborate. It seems you had a lot planned for our Valentine’s Day back then. Is there anything else you wanted to do?”
His mouth went dry at that, and he wished that you couldn’t see his face because he was sure that his expression was quite comical. All the way back then, four years prior, he had in fact planned the perfect, ideal day in his head. Picking you up on his bike, giving you the cherry from his milkshake, and presenting you with his hand made card.
There was only one thing left on his list.
He didn’t move at first, willing himself to have enough courage to even look back in your direction. But when he finally did allow his eyes to meet yours, he felt his shoulders relax and his heart rate became more manageable.
He took a deep breath, leaned forward, and pressed his lips against your cheek.
He lingered there for only a moment before he pulled back, daring to pry one of his eyes open to take in the look on your face.
The disappointment was palpable—from the way your brows furrowed together and the way you pursed your lips. His stomach dropped, and he scooted the tiniest bit away from you.
“I’m sorry,” He blurt out, his face growing warmer by the second. “I shouldn’t have done that, I just—”
“Is that all?”
Your question stopped him mid-ramble, his eyes growing wide. “Huh?”
“Is that all?” You repeated, closing the distance between you that he had created. “It’s Valentine’s Day, Soobin. I think we can do better than a peck on the cheek.”
The implications of what you were saying didn’t register with him right away, but when it finally did, he could have sworn his heart began to beat loud enough for the entire town to hear. His hand curled into a fist as he gripped the denim of his jeans. He leaned forward, keeping his eyes open just enough to watch you as he brought his lips closer to yours. He could feel your eyes on him all the while, causing his heart to pound fiercer still within him.
When he was just a breath away, he whispered, “Can you close your eyes?”
“Hm?”
He lifted his hand, gently placing it over your eyes. He leaned closer then, filling the space between you both as his lips met yours. You tasted vaguely of cherry and strawberry slice soda, and he found it quite nice the way his lips seemed to fit perfectly against your own. As the seconds drew on, your hands slipped around his neck, pulling him closer. He slowly let his hand fall from your eyes, tracing lines with the tips of his fingers down your cheek before he cradled your jaw, letting his lips part just enough to taste the sweet sugar on your lips once more.
He thought in a haze that it was a good thing he didn’t drink anything at the party, as kissing you was proving to be intoxicating enough on its own.
When you finally pulled away, leaving your forehead resting against his, he let his eyes flutter open enough to see the euphoric smile that adorned your features. He grinned as well, gently running his thumb against your cheek.
“I think that back then, I had planned to ask you this before kissing you,” He whispered, “But Y/N, will you be my Valentine?”
Instead of a spoken answer, you laughed, leaning forward to capture his lips with yours once again, and that was the only answer Choi Soobin would ever need.
-
WHEN SOOBIN ARRIVED HOME THAT NIGHT, HE WENT STRAIGHT FOR THE TELEPHONE.
It was kept upstairs at night right outside his parent’s door, to keep himself and his brother from using it in the late hours. Of course, this never stopped Soobin from sneaking it downstairs to his room in the basement to make late night calls to Felix.
And that particular evening, he really needed to give Felix an update.
He grabbed the phone from the small table in the hallway, carefully tiptoeing towards the basement stairs. Before he had even taken the first step down, the bathroom door creaked open. Soobin whipped his head around to see his brother Kai standing there, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he raised a brow at his older brother.
Soobin froze, blinking slowly as he realized the incriminating situation he found himself in.
“Please don’t tell mom,” He whispered, his eyes pleading with his younger brother.
Kai nodded, although Soobin wasn’t quite convinced that the boy was even coherent enough to understand what was going on. Soobin offered a rushed thank you, and ventured his first step down the stairs.
Well, he tried, anyways, and ended up missing the first step. He tumbled down the rest of the stairs, landing on his butt at the very end.
He winced in pain, glad to see that the phone was still intact in his hands. He glanced over his shoulders to see Kai staring down the stairway with wide eyes, his lips parted in shock. Soobin quickly put a finger to his lips, begging his brother for silence.
Kai simply shook his head and walked away, allowing Soobin the freedom to breathe out a sigh of relief.
He quickly ran to his bedroom and shut the door, collapsing onto his bed with the phone as his breaths came in ragged gasps as an aftereffect from his tumble down the stairs. He figured he should have dialed Felix’s number right away, but he couldn’t help but brush his fingers against his lips, remembering the feeling and taste of having yours pressed against them.
He was so caught up in his daze that he didn’t notice Felix calling until the third ring.
He picked it up, breathing heavily into the speaker as he rubbed a sore spot on his lower back.
“Please tell me that panting is from running a marathon, and not what I think you’ve successfully tried.”
Soobin nearly gagged, holding the phone away from his face as he coughed, flustered by his friend's crude words. He brought the phone back to his face and said, “No, you sicko, I just fell down the stairs.”
“How the hell did you manage that with those long legs?”
“That’s not important, Lix!” He laid back onto his pillows then, twirling the phone cord in his hands as he stared up at his ceiling, the memories of his adventure with you that night flooding his mind once more. He couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear as he said, “Look, I need to tell you something important.”
If he didn’t know any better, he would have thought that he could hear the smile in Felix’s voice too as his friend replied.
“Well buddy, I got something to tell you too.”

The third Arch Deleted Scene
The snippet here is a bit rushed at the beginning and in some other parts, as I did not want to go into even more spoiler territory. If you want to send me asks about this please be sure to advertise them as spoiler at the beginning, since not everyone will want to read them.
SPOILER
TW: blood, injury, poisoning, strong language.
3rd Arch – the seventh Trial
Your stomach was knotted by dark swirling anxiety from the moment Arthur announced the diplomatic visit. You were familiar with the House, it kept being, after all, one of the most influent beside yours before and after the Emperor’s fall. This did not mean anything, though. Your homeland was beautiful but deadly, ready to swallow anyone whole to quickly digest them.
You promised yourself you were going to be at Arthur’s side at all times, and that’s precisely what you are doing now.
Four days in, and the only major threat has been the amount of people wanting to interact with you. For the most part, Arthur smoothly deflects them to himself, for which you are endlessly grateful. You’re not in the mood to socialize, instead you keep on high alert, especially against the House leader and formal Ambassador.
You do not think he will pull anything while you’re here, after all you grew up together and you respected each other deeply, but one cannot be too cautious when the King is concerned – as demonstrated by the multiple scars that litter your body. You would go through all of it again in a heartbeat if it meant keeping your King safe, but all you can do for now is stay by his side and keep the risks at minimum.
For this reason, when the Ambassador proposes a meal together with both yours and his knights, you are instantly weary.
“I don’t like this one bit, Arthur.”
“Me neither,” agrees Evaine, all the while lazily making their dagger spin on the table.
“I don’t deny that is not an ideal situation. On the other hand, a wrong move on their part would jeopardise their own negotiation,” counters Arthur as Morien finally snaps, blocking Evaine’s wrist with a tight grip and hissing an irritated “stop fooling around, for God’s sake!”
Evaine pouts. Yniol ignores them in favour of the matter at hand “they are certainly going to outnumber us, but if they wanted to attack us head on they would have done so before now, there were better opportunities. MC?”
You really think it through before answering “I wouldn’t put it past the Ambassador to try something, direct or more subtle, while we’re so exposed and out of our physician. Lania is not the head of his House for nothing, but aside from that he was always particularly attached to the Empire. We can’t afford to underestimate him.”
“Yes, yes” interjects Morien, having by now freed Evaine’s hand and left the table, dismissing themselves from the meeting “I’ll be prepared in any case. I swear you manage to hurt yourselves everywhere we go.”
And so dinner begins. It is a boring affair, but you won’t let yourself relax until it’s over. You sip on your wine, closely inspecting the hosts for any sudden or unusual movement. You find none, but you stiffen and your brows furrows. There’s something strange in your mouth, something strangely… bitter.
Time seems to freeze in front of your eyes. With an uncoordinated, panicked movement you jerk on the table and bat away Arthur’s cup, spilling its content on the table.
You place your hand on the table to support you as you rise, your dilatated pupils numbly fixed on the red liquid that’s quickly staining the tablecloth. It feels like an hour but actually only a second has passed before you regain your senses.
“Seize them.”
Arthur and his Knights are no longer seated by now, but the Ambassador’s men have drawn their weapons as well and pointed them to your delegacy, effectively halting their movements. You see icy red and do not spare another glance at the man now placed on your back while you snarl in the envoy direction.
Placing your fingers on the hilt of your sword, you hiss an enchantment to track the magic residue and the culprit is revealed in front of your eyes. Ignoring the taste of iron on your tongue, you spit out another enchantment and the room’s door is locked close with a lout snap. They will not get away.
Unfortunately, you lack the ability to free Arthur and the Knights, you are now surrounded and painfully outnumbered, but you know they can hold on until you have taken care of the threat at hand. You cough blood and half crash on the floor, but you ignore the alarmed voices of your Knights and crawl in the Ambassador’s direction.
How dare he. How dare.
“My, Lord…”
“Let them,” a voice says to your back “they will not go far.”
“How dare you” your breaths are ragged, your intestines raw and burning, your voice rough for the acid that invades your throat. The Ambassador’s face is a mask of contempt and stony resolution. He watches, halting his men while they try to block you, as you half-crawl to him, gripping with iron strength the wooden chairs to keep yourself upright.
“I have the upper hand, King Arthur. I’m afraid you are in no position to make such demands.”
“Release us, and call a physician for my spouse, and I will consider letting this incident go without consequences.”
Arthur’s voice is steady, calm and there is only a hint of something sharper, at least for now.
You can’t see your King, but the sound of his voice sends shivers down your spine. They tried to kill him. The House you grew up to respect is full of nothing more than vile traitors.
As your strength start to waver, you lose your balance and crush to the ground with the chair you were pushing your weight on. Still, you get up again and you and fix your gaze on the second born, now Ambassador and traitor “I’ve had enough of you.”
You take a shuddering breath, your lungs filled with blood that’s now spilling over to your lips as you speak, but the pain you feel is nothing compared to the hot, blinding rage that’s consuming your every thought. Still, your voice is, as ever, cutting cold “you invite us here, offering a pacific discussion, and all you provide are poison in our drinks and weapons against my Knights and my King’s throat. You’ve exhausted my patience, Lania.”
You see him flinch at the use of his name. You remember a time long gone when you played together as kids, swearing you would be the ones to restore the Empire uniting your two Houses. Now these are broken promises and rotten friendships.
“MC,” the Ambassador says, “it’s over, you have to understand that.”
“Oh, you just wait,” interjects Evaine, almost immediately silenced by the Ambassador’s men.
You cough and choke on blood, and you can feel the physical weight of Arthur’s and the Knights’ worried eyes on your back, but you exhale and grip tighter your sword’s hilt. A wave of raw power invades your body and you are able to focus again.
“You know what I’m capable of, what I am willing to do for my King,” your voice is almost devoid of intonation, save for unforgiving hardness. His gaze falls on your non dominant arm and then on your throat, scarred by a thin horizontal line “I will gut you and feed you to my hounds. You’ll die like the backstabbing coward you are.”
They know as well as you do that you don’t make empty promises. There is a rustle around you that culminates in a sharp sigh from the Ambassador and swords pointed at your neck.
“Must we really do this, MC? I cared for you once, but you know that I will not hesitate to strike you down if you give me reason to do so.”
You don’t draw black nor move a single muscle, your eyes find Arthur’s blue ones and you find the King is dangerously immobile, his fingers brushing against Excalibur’s hilt in what could be mistaken for a soothing caress. When he speaks, his voice bears nothing else but firm command “you will not do that.”
Lania cocks his head to the side, appearing quite unbothered “oh?”
“How is your sister, Ambassador?”
At the same time as Lania stills, you blink. A violent cough than shakes your chest, and when your senses are fully back and you can breathe again Arthur has kept going with the same calm, calculated demeanor “I want to remind you that together with the Lord the wedded she’s now head of the Merthian feud, the nearer one to the south-eastern border.”
“What does it-“
“I am the one in control of the knights tasked with their protection. As per the arrangement we signed weeks ago, the border is under Camelot’s defence. But if I die, or if my spouse dies, my knights will retire, Ambassador.”
Oh, Arthur is not King for nothing. He is striking where it hurts the most – family – without even an drop of blood shed. You don’t hide a proud, feral smile at this. Almost immediately, blood invades your throat again, you can feel its taste on your togue, but you shove the pain back where it started in your burning stomach. You shiver. You love and hate seeing your King like this.
Lania swiftly unsheathe a long, curved dagger and you are immediately ready to bolt– swords to your throat be damned, you’ve had worse – but he makes no move in Arthur’s direction for now.
“Figured you had to hit low to get a reaction.”
“Release us,” Yniol commands, standing tall near the King.
“No” spits out Lania, his composure now fully broken “you stole our independence and our pride, Pendragon, you humiliated us and stripped our Houses of the opportunity to unite again. You are every bit of your father’s blood!”
He then turns to you, his eyes frantic, his expression pained and almost feral “I thought you were on my side!”
Blood rushes to your ears, a high-pitched whistle the only thing you’re able to hear at the moment. You feel sick. Sicker than before – sicker than what you’ve felt in years. You spit blood on the floor, your answer is weak and unnaturally subdued, “it was a- a long time ago.”
“We were like siblings!”
You can’t say anything, you only choke on your words. All that you manage to do is keep yourself upright only thanks to your sword.
“They are right, you really are your King’s hound, nothing more than Camelot’s bitch,” he tries the next word in his mouth like they were both foul and inevitable “the haghàn bajek*.”
Your vision is overcome by whit spots, your skin hot and freezing cold.
“Kill them all.”
You force yourself to focus. Protect your Knights. Protect your King.
After that it is pure, unbidden chaos. You tighten your grip on your sword, assessing where you’re needed the most. With the corner of your eye you spot Arthur, he’s a beautiful fighter, he is no match for – Lania.
Your magic flares alongside most of your nerve endings as you sprint in his direction, interjecting his blow with your own weapon. Unfortunately, the Ambassador is a skilled opponent and you’re already considerably weakened, all you can do is channel in your arms the strength of your steel determination to not let him reach your King.
“Stop trying to defend an enemy, MC!”
“Stop trying… to kill him.”
You are barely managing to defend yourself when Lania strikes back. You catch the dagger with your arm, it pierces through your skin just over your elbow but it won’t reach its intended target. No one will hurt your King while you’re still breathing. No one.
Pain paralyzes your arm, your breath is stuck in your throat together with a blood clot that feels intrusive and that fills you with panic. The finishing blow never comes, though. As you inhale again, you refocus on the room’s occupants and notice how Arthur’s Knights have the clear upper hand.
“Ah, and you thought you could beat the Round Table so easily,” Evaine all but purrs in a knight’s ear “that’s precious.”
“Stand down” Gawaine commands “you’re surrounded.”
You can hardly distinguish the shapes of your own knights, you’re nauseous, your stomach and throat are on fire. You fall down on your knees, exhausted and hurt. You feel like you’re going to throw up–
“MC’”
Where is Lania, where is –
“Wh-where…?”
“Kai, get Morien here, please.”
Arthur’s voice is soothing, as ever, but tainted with worry. You can’t make his face out. There are arms supporting your weight, not his but equally familiar – Yniol?
“It’s going to be alright, dear.”
It’s the last thing you hear before the world goes black.

Summary: Spencer steps way out of his comfort zone to ask his film major girlfriend a question.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader

“Hey Garcia, do you think you could help with something?” Spencer asked, rubbing the back of his neck nervously and not looking up from the floor of her office.
“Of course, Boy Wonder? What can I do for you?” Garcia answered while excitedly turning her chair back to her wall of screens.
Spencer grabbed the extra chair in her office and mumbled, “Actually um,” causing Garcia to completely abandon her position and fully face the genius.
“Spencer, are you okay? Is something wrong?” Spencer couldn’t blame her for asking. He was sweating more than usual, his face was bright red and he hadn’t stop fiddling with his hands since he shut the door.
“Oh no, nothing’s wrong. I just, uh, I don’t really know how to ask this,” Spencer stumbled back. It was the truth after all. No life experience had prepared him for such a request, one that in the grand scheme of things was not a lot, but to Spencer.
To Spencer, it was everything.
“That’s okay. Take your time,” Penelope stated back, and coming from anyone else, Spencer would have believed it was sarcastic in nature. But he also knew that Penelope was one of the only people he could never find judgement or maliciousness from.
You were the other.
“So Y/N and I as you’re probably aware have been together for 2 years now, and you also know that she just got her degree in cinematography and design, which is really funny if you think about it because I know nothing about any of that, but she knows everything. You know, sometimes she’ll explain to me what she sees through her eyes and it’s nothing like what I’ve ever been able to. I’m rambling now but I want to do that,” Spencer spurted out, and once he was done, he took a breath so deep Penelope whole-heartedly believed if he spent one more second talking, he may pass out.
“Woah there, slow down. First of all, that’s adorable. I love Y/N so much. Second of all, how exactly am I supposed to help you see things that way? Shouldn’t she be more help?” Penelope questioned, now completely confused about Spencer’s intentions with this very early morning visit.
“She can’t exactly know. It’s kind of a surprise thing,” Spencer answered shyly. He hadn’t even gotten to the punchline and yet, he was contemplating every move.
Was this a good idea?
But when he saw the way Penelope lit up before she yelled, “Tell me everything, and spare no details. None!” He knew he would stop at nothing to make this perfect.
“So here’s what I was thinking.”
That was 1 year ago today, and since then, Spencer has tried to figure out what to say when he revealed his big project. He stood in front of the mirror every day for 365 days trying to find the perfect way to put it. Still when you sat on your shared couch gazing up at him in amusement, confusion and adoration all at once, his mouth was dry and his throat clamped up.
“Spence, you’re starting to scare me. Are you okay?” You asked, watching as your boyfriend stared at you like a deer caught in headlights with a laptop and assorted cords in his hands.
“Uh, yes! Yes I am okay. I just need to um, this needs to go. You know what? I wasn’t told how to do this part, can you help me?” Spencer paced back and forth between you and the TV four times while he was talking before he stopped defeated in front of you. He wouldn’t have asked for help unless he was certain Penelope was smart enough to insert a black screen in the beginning of what caused the laptop to burn a hole in his hand.
“Yes, of course,” you said, slightly chuckling at his confusion. Spencer Reid and technology, whilst tragic, was also very adorable. “What are you trying to do?”
“I need the video on the laptop to play on the TV,” he stated simply. At least he knew what he wanted. That was a new, first step in the right direction.
“Okay easy. Just hand me that cord, and,” you drew out the ‘and’ as you bent around the TV and plugged in the cord. “Perfect. Now just plug this end into the laptop and hit play.” You handed Spencer back his end of the cord, watching as he examined the object and the side of the computer to know where exactly to put it. It almost felt like watching a toddler try and find the rightly shaped hole for the triangle piece, and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t endearing.
Before he could break anything, you stepped in. “I know you’d be able to figure it out, but it’s that one.”
“Thank you,” he mumbled back sheepishly.
“Okay so a little back story. A year ago today, I asked Penelope to teach me how to record videos on my new phone. Thank you for that by the way, the camera on it is really cool, and I’m not just saying that because it’s one of the only things I know how to work. Anyways, I started secretly recording videos of you, of us, anything that reminded me of you, and me talking about you. So I sent them over to Garcia and she pushed them all together, and I think what I’m trying to say is I made a short film? Home video? It doesn’t really matter, but I’m showing it to you now.” Spencer didn’t acknowledge the shocked look on your face as he settled next to you and put the laptop on the coffee table.
But as you watched him find the video and set up, your jaw stayed slack. Spencer Reid, the world’s biggest technophobe, figured out how to use an iPhone camera just for you. While to others it may not seem like a lot, to you.
To you, it was everything.
“Spence, I don’t even know what to say. This is the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for me.” It didn’t feel like enough. The amount of awe, and love that filled your chest was so comforting, so warm.
It felt like home. It felt like Spencer.
“You don’t have to say anything, just watch,” he stated before hitting the spacebar, something he’s seen you do plenty of times.
The video started out with Spencer crouching down slightly to where the phone was set up against a bookcase in front of the couch.
“Is it recording?” He whispered, and when he realized it was, he took a step back and gave a thumbs up before rushing to sit on the couch. You couldn’t help but let a full smile stretch across your face, an involuntary act when it came to Spencer.
“Hey, love bug. It’s Spencer, but wait you knew that because you can see me.” There was a small pause as Spencer squinted to see if you could actually see him from his position on the couch. When he realized he was in frame, he continued. “This is totally weird that I’m technically talking to myself right now, but I hope future me gave you an explanation. I tried to wait for a good time to start recording this, and in the two weeks I’ve known how to work that thing,” Spencer said as he pointed to the camera. “We’ve been on a case. I came home tonight, and you’re sleeping right now, but if I stay quiet enough I can say what I need to.”
You looked over at Spencer as he was twiddling with his fingers. Something he only did when he was nervous. You reached over and grabbed one of his hands, giving it a reassuring squeeze, but when you tried to pull away so as to not truly disturb his fidgeting, he caught it. So, you intertwined your fingers together, and continued to watch past Spencer.
“I came home today, and all I wanted to do was hold you. Granted, that’s every day, but today was just, it was really hard. When I came home you were asleep on the couch. One time you told me you didn't like to sleep in our bed while I was away, something about it being too big. At first, I was mad because your poor back, but today I changed my mind because the amount of steps to get to you was much less.”
Spencer unlocked the door to the apartment, resting his head against the wood as he inserted the key into the lock. The most recent case had ended with the death of both the latest victim and the unsub, and he couldn’t bear another second of remembering the scene play out in front of him.
All he wanted to do was lay in her arms, but when he opened the door, the apartment was completely silent.
And then he saw a little fuzzy sock clad foot sticking out from underneath the huge, fluffy blanket on the couch. Slowly, he walked towards you, finding you fast asleep with a t-shirt of his tightly snuggled up to your neck and face.
Spencer got down on a knee in front of you, and brushed the hair that had fallen over your eyes. Slowly, they fluttered open at his feather touch, only to widen with realization.
“You’re home!” You squealed, throwing your hands around his neck. Immediately, he reciprocated the hug, tighter than usual. Spencer tucked his head into your neck and inhaled the scent of your shampoo, a grounding technique he would never tell you he developed. The hands he delicately placed at first across the expanse of your back grew heavier, drawing your body closer to his.
You pulled your head back, him following your movements, and stared deeply into his eyes for a second. The moment you two locked eyes, he knew the jig was up. Spencer knew you could see right through him, and he knew that even if you weren’t there to witness what he had, you saw it replaying over and over in his eyes.
“You must be tired, let’s get you to bed.” Your words shocked him at first. Usually, the people in his life would ask insistent questions on his mental well-being, and while they were greatly appreciated, Spencer was never one to open up when asked to.
You, however, didn’t meddle, you didn’t push. You simply gave him a place to feel safe as you two settled under the duvet together, never letting go of one another even for a second. You held the back of his head, slowly brushing your fingers through his curls as he laid against your chest. Your fingers were medicinal to him, softly taking away the pain and violence of the day, and replacing it with security, comfort, love.
“No one’s ever been that excited to see me before, let alone knew how to take care of me the way you did. I just,” Spencer trailed off and looked towards our bedroom, where you stirred in your sleep looking for him. “You’re about to wake up and wonder where I went. Now you know what I was doing in “the bathroom” for 30 minutes actually meant. Alright, see you next video, love bug.”
The screen cut to Spencer obviously holding the phone close to his chest, the only thing in frame the space where his shoulder and neck met. The soft chords of the start of Vienna by Billy Joel can be heard from outside the room he was in.
“Okay, I’m gonna have to sneak up on you. I’m sorry in advance.”
Spencer finally addressed the camera. As the Spencer on the TV quietly left his position in what you could only assume was your bedroom, you looked over at your very real Spencer softly smiling at the TV.
When he caught your stare, he said “Watch, this is my favorite part.” Turning back to the TV, you watched as Spencer carefully tiptoed to the living room, placing the camera to lean against the vase in the middle of the dinner table to face the kitchen.
In the kitchen, you watched yourself very poorly sing along with Billy Joel using a whisk that you just got done washing as a microphone. The blush that crept up your neck and to your cheeks with embarrassment still felt the same as it did that day.
You hadn’t heard Spencer sneak up on you, not until he was right behind you and let out a soft chuckle at a note you missed. Spencer had never seen someone jump out of their skin as much as you did when he made his presence known.
“Jesus Spencer, you scared me!” You yelled before a smile crept up your face. You couldn’t help it, even in the most embarrassing times, not when Spencer looked at you like that.
“Sorry, love bug. Although, I didn’t mean for you to stop the show.” At that you hit his chest with the whisk/microphone, both of you laughing fully now. “Come here.”
Spencer took your hand, pulling you softly to his chest where you laid your head to his heart. Wrapping his hand around your waist, the two of you started to slowly sway to the music. You both were incredibly offbeat to Vienna, but listening to Spencer’s heart, you realized that the tempo you were dancing at matched up. Unbeknownst to you, due to the adrenaline of being scared, Spencer could feel your heartbeat on his abdomen, and was swaying to that.
You didn’t know how long you stayed like that, dancing to the in sync beat of each other’s hearts.
The clip of you dancing however only lasted 10 more seconds as the next scene of Spencer bundled up for the fall played. You had met Spencer during the fall, and fell in love with the way the red, yellow and orange leaves contrasted against his honey eyes. This clip was no different.
“Hey, love bug. I’m on my way to deliver this coffee to you in between classes, but I had to stop so I can show you my new friends I’ve made along the way.”
The camera panned down to 4 little ducklings surrounding Spencer’s converse, most of them just waddling around, but one was insistently pecking at the rubber toe of his left shoe. Spencer pointed at the little deviant and said ‘that’s you’ before bringing the camera back up to his face.
“I may have made the mistake of feeding them the fruit I was bringing you, which reminds me I should probably go get you more. I don’t think you’ll be mad though. How could you? Look how cute they are! I kind of want to take them home, but I definitely know that’ll make you mad. Anyways, I just wanted to show off that you’re not always the animal person in this relationship. See you soon, love bug.”
“Oh my god, Spencer. That was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, but to confirm your thoughts, yes, I would’ve been mad,” you stated, the giddy smile never leaving your face, and giggles spreading themselves through your words.
“I know, I know. They belong in the wild,” he said back, holding up his free hand in faux defeat.
A new scene presented itself to you, this one being Spencer setting up the camera on the bathroom sink while brushing his teeth. You knew you were approaching by the music slowly getting louder.
You entered you and Spencer’s shared bathroom, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John playing out of your phone. He was brushing his teeth, and you followed suit, not stopping the small dancing as you did.
You looked at Spencer, and started moving side to side, your free hand grabbing the crook of his elbow to join you. Looking in the mirror expectedly, you watched Spencer look up at the ceiling before joining you, a smile on his face.
Slowly, the two of you fell into a rhythm to the beat of Elton John, making funny faces to each other in the mirror as you did so.
You reached out fully to lean your head on Spencer’s shoulder as you watched.
The scene on the TV shifted once again to show a very flustered you standing in front of the TV with Citizen Kane paused. Your hair was in a messy bun, and you were sporting one of Spencer’s old Caltech t-shirts, and fuzzy black pants with little pumpkins printed everywhere.
Spencer was also wearing the same fuzzy pants.
“Spence, I’m gonna sound crazy here,” you sprinting off the couch after pausing the film you were currently trying to study for your film analysis class.
“You’re not off to a great start here,” Spencer laughed out. Spencer once told you that no matter what he thought about a book or film, he wanted to listen to you ramble about it for hours. The first thing he fell in love with about you was the way you challenged his thinking, expanding his mind to the possibilities of learning about the difference between production design and cinematography. You taught him something that no class, book or person could ever.
Your mouth dropped open, an over exaggerated gasp leaving your lips, your hand meeting your chest softly.
“Meanie.” Spencer and you chuckled at the antics, and when the laughs died down, you continued. “Here me out, though.”
And from there, you went into a deep dive about the unreliable narrator, and how it affects camera placement in the scene you two just watched.
“Oh my god. I talk that fast?” You asked Spencer, who just let a breathy laugh out at your realization.
“Don’t worry, I think it’s adorable,” he whispered the last part, the smile on his face turning from one of hilarity to one full of love.
30 seconds into your rant, you realize the phone he was attempting to hide close to his lap. Your eyes flicked between the camera that was pointed at you, and Spencer, who’s face filled with confusion as to why you stopped talking.
“Are you recording me?” You asked, a smile never leaving your face. Oh no, he’d been caught. Spencer has to think of a believable excuse, and quick.
“Uh, yeah, sorry, I just uh... I figured instead of you trying to write it down later, you’d want all your notes now.” Perfect!
“Damn, that was good,” you said, nodding softly at his swiftness. You couldn’t be mad he lied, how could you when the truth was this beautiful?
“I know, right? I came up with it on the spot,” Spencer joked with you. As if TV Spencer knew he was interrupting a moment, a throat clearing came from the video. The Spencer you saw was from 3 days ago, and was sitting in his car in what looked to be the Quantico parking garage.
“Hi, love bug. I’m days away from showing you this, and I still don’t know what to say. I hope the me you’re with now has figured it out. So, uh, yeah. That’s it. Uh, take it away, future Spencer. Actually, you’d be present Spenc-” The video cut off, courtesy of Penelope Garcia.
“Y/N,” Spencer started, turning to face a very emotional you fully. “I still haven’t found the right words. None of them could express my love for you, and perfect doesn’t come close to describing you. I know you have a thing for supporting evidence, and I think I just provided a lot to prove that the best thing to ever happen in my life is you.” You let out a small giggle, the tears welling in your eyes breaking free. “Oh no, if you cry, then I’m going to.”
You let out a full laugh now as Spencer wiped the tears falling down your cheeks before continuing.
“Before you, I was reckless. I didn’t care what happened as long as I did something to help. Now, I have a reason to be careful, a reason to care. I can’t do that to you, and if I’m going to spend the rest of my life with you, I need to live.”
You inhaled softly as Spencer reached into the pocket of his pants, taking your hand in his.
“Which brings me to my question,” he said with a small smile and cocked his head. Slowly, he dropped down to one knee in front of you.
“Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?” Spencer opened the velvet box to reveal a simple silver band with a square cut diamond delicately placed on top.
“Spencer Reid, yes. I will marry you.”
With shaky fingers, he slid the ring on your fingers, the fit perfect. You couldn’t wait any longer, and grabbed his face in your hands to pull his lips to yours. Your lips molded together in perfect harmony, lulling you deeper into Spencer’s embrace.
“I love you,” you whispered against his lips.
“I love you, too,” Spencer answered, only pulling back far enough to mumble before kissing you again.
