Small ways in which they show their affection (Hogwarts Legacy)
I'M ALIVE
Kinda ran out of creative juice and work is still killing me so yeah, decided I needed a small break. I'm still writing but I'm likely taking things a bit slower on the fics, will gladly keep doing short form requests though 🖤

Poppy Sweeting 🦡
Surprise hugs. The best ones.
Nothing to make a bad day better than your comfort Hufflepuff wrapping her arms around your middle when you least expect it.
She feeds and grooms the beasts in the vivarium when you’re out running errands outside the castle (so that you can spend more time with each other once you get back)
Sometimes you find beast treats in your bag, much to your surprise. You’re even more surprised to find that they actually taste pretty good.
Ominis Gaunt 🐍
He gives great back rubs.
Especially when he notices the tension in your voice, he will stop at nothing to pull you in and keep you there until he’s released every knot.
He’s a very patient listener. Whatever you’re struggling with, he always makes time to make you feel like you’re heard and understood, even if it’s mostly you doing the ranting.
If you don’t feel like talking, he’s perfectly content with being your human pillow as well. Sometimes soft cuddles are all you need to make the bad thoughts go away
Natsai Onai 🦁
Holding hands in public. It’s all about the little moments between all of your adventures, never knowing when your next minute of affection will be.
She loves to play with your hair, most of the time without even knowing that she’s doing it. If you don’t make sure to pay attention, you’ll be walking around with braids for the rest of the day
Knowing how much you love learning about her homeland, she often leaves you little origami figures representing the animals she grew up with on the plains.
Sebastian Sallow 🐍
You always find small notes in your bag after breakfast with cute messages written on them. It’s a reminder that he loves you (and, of course, that you’re his)
He walks you to classes and holds your hand to make sure that no one will bother you if you don’t feel like talking (also, to cut off any cute glances thrown your way)
You love to drive him crazy simply by making small talk or standing just a little too close to other students. The moment he sees you, he will be all over you with compliments and little gifts and offers to carry your books. It’s a side of him not many get to see often, but you can have it whenever you want.
Imelda Reyes 🐍
She’s not one to show affection very openly, so it’s all about reading the signs with her.
She frequently schedules workouts for you together under the guise of working on your “abysmal” cardio, even though it’s fairly obvious she likes spending time with you more than she’d care to admit
She always sets you up with first-class seats to every Quidditch match, joining you when Slytherin is not playing. (Just don’t ever call it a date)
Bonus for Slytherins: sometimes you wake up to find a bouquet of freshly plucked flowers on your bedside table. She always denies having anything to do with them, even though you can’t help but notice that this particular kind only grows around the Quidditch pitch.
Amit Thakkar 🦅
He knows how busy you can get with all your escapades outside the castle, so he doesn’t mind doing your homework once in a while (though he still gives you impromptu tutoring sessions on your walks between classes to make sure you don’t fall behind)
He’s a very meticulous planner, which means you don’t have to worry about missing out on quality time with him. When you don’t have time for romantic evenings, he simply takes you out on study dates to the Three Broomsticks.
When you’re too tired to memorize the words on the pages, he’s perfectly understanding as well. In fact, he’s more than happy to lend you his shoulder for a quick nap

Leah Soft Alphabet
♥*♡∞:。.。 。.。:∞♡*♥♥*♡∞:。.。 。.。:∞♡*♥
Tumblr media
A= Affection (how do they show affection)
Leah is definitely an acts of service girly. Like it’s cold and you forgot a coat? She brought an extra one because she knew you would do something like this. Calls you an idiot (affectionately) for it though.
On the other hand she has been through a lot. She needs words of affirmation much more than she will let on. You’ll notice she is anxious because she will pull away, not tell as many jokes, apologize for seemingly nothing. She gets very quiet, almost talking in a whisper. She doesn’t like to talk about why she is so worried about you disappearing but hearing how much she means to you relaxes her and it’s quite obvious in her body posture.
B= Beautiful (what is their pet name for you)
Leah is a babe kind of girly. I think most of the wolfpack is tbh.
C= Cuddles (Are they a cuddly person?)
Not at first. It makes her anxious receiving physical affection after so long of being without it. The first time you rest your head on her goes stiff. Over time she’s going to find herself wondering if she is pushing you away by not being more receptive and she will begrudgingly talk to you about why she’s so distant. I imagine she actually learns to love when you are cuddly with her but is on edge due to her past
D= Domestic (Do they want to settle down? What kind of future do they want)
Yes and no. Last time she was engaged did not go well. So I think she would have such bad anxiety the whole time. At the same time she would worry about why you wouldn’t want to get married, do you not see her as a permanent person in your life? I think she craves being married and getting away from the reservation, away from the vampires and mostly, away from Sam. She can’t have children but I think she would be open to adopting as long as you two were comfortable. Does not want pets until child asks for one 😅
E= End (How would they break up with their partners if they had to? What would make them do that in the first place?)
She does not handle breakups well, understandably. There would be a lot of screaming because realistically the only thing that would cause her to break up with you would be you being part of the pack and imprinting.
“Of course you imprinted! I should have never trusted you!”
She is not going through that again. She will yell those words and suddenly shut down, as if she turned off every emotion and either ask you to leave or leave herself without another word. After that you will never see her again, she doesn’t care if it hurts to be away from family or the rest of the pack she is staying away and not looking back.
F= Fear (Whats something that terrifies them)/ Fiance (How would they propose)
See above. Imprinting on someone or you imprinting or falling for someone else.
She is not proposing. Do not make a public proposal, she will say no.
G= Gentle (How gentle are they emotionally, physically?)
I think It’s obvious Leah knows how cold everyone feels she is. In reality though Leah has to put a shield up for herself and she won’t apologize for that. But with that in mind she makes an active effort to be there for you the way she would want someone there for her. So if you’re having a bad day she’s very patient and willing to listen. She also warns you after you’ve established your relationship that she can come off rude and it isn’t her intention. Physically she is very gentle too. People often think she isn’t feminine because of her clothes but the girls got to go to work, okay? She’s gotten used to people treating her like a guy and don’t think of her outside of running perimeter.
In her off time with you she enjoys comfortable clothing but likes to dress up. She doesn’t want to feel scary, she doesn’t believe her identity lies in being a wolf. Or that she has to dress like either a guy or girl but she enjoys feeling feminine and I think subconsciously it has affected the way she acts away from the pack. She’s softer, she still won’t let people walk over her but enjoys resting her head on your shoulder and honestly, she wants to be the little spoon.
H= Hugs (Are they a hugger? What do their hugs feel like? How much do they like to hug?)
Not a hugger. It feels constricting to her. She grows to enjoy cuddling but hugging is still somewhat hard for her. It’s always quick and soft. She will hug if it involves dancing alone with just the two of you or her arms are around her neck and the two of you are kissing. If you aren’t doing anything besides hugging, don’t hug her.
I= I love you (how soon did they know they were in love? How long did it take to say the words?)
It takes her a long time to say. So much so that even when you say it will take at least one to two weeks to bring it up again. She will ask if you meant it the , and if you still feel the same way after she pulled back. You say yes obviously, because you know why she did that and why she’s worried about it.
To be honest it isn’t until she has to run with the pack and they are bugging her since she’s been so quiet that everyone figures it out and shuts up. Sam is sulking (as he should tbh) and she finds herself not reveling in his upset. Someone else, probably Embry offers to talk to her whenever they finish what they had to finish. Leah is dying to talk to someone at this point and figures out how she feels as she’s venting. When Embry talks her through it she goes back to you and brings up the conversation. I think Sam probably tries to talk to her but Leah ignores him.
J= Jealousy (Do they get jealous easily? Do they try and make you jealous)
Yeah, sorry 😅 no she absolutely does not try and make you jealous but every one feels like they are out to get her or will steal you away in a second.
K= Kisses (what do their kisses feel like? Where do they like to kiss you?)
Leahs kisses are long and soft. She’s always worried about when the other shoe will drop so she is making the most out of what time she has left. She’s the one that lingers. She likes just kissing you on the lips and I don’t think she would have admitted her feelings for you without kissing you first so this timeline is unfortunately highly dependent on you.
L= Littles (Do they want kids? What are they like around kids? How many?)
Just one but yes she really wants to be a mom. She knows she will have to adopt but she doesn’t think that changes the meaning or feeling of being a mom.
M= Mornings
Leah has never said anything because since Sam imprinted on Emily her love for it has all but gone away, however she used to love cooking. And when she’s comfortable with you you’ll notice she enjoys making a nice breakfast every morning. It’s become a ritual of sorts to start the day off nicely. She got sick once and couldn’t make anything and she began having an anxiety attack but when you did the best you could you have no idea how much that helped her. Also Id like to think that she’s actually better at some things than Emily and because you hate how the pack and her whole family treated her and forced her to ignore how she felt, you’ve made some kind of snide remark along the lines of giving backhanded compliments
“wow Emily this is so good, babe this is almost as good as the thing you made!”
Paul asks her to prove it but she knows what your doing and plays it off that she only cooks for people she likes, ie you. Sam is silent because he knows your kinda right. But that’s not what Emily needs bc of the imprint blah blah blah this ain’t about them
N= Nights
She’s the person that swears they want to watch a movie or show before bed but falls asleep in five minutes. She tries to catch up on her phone at different little so you don’t have to stop watching. Once a week you guys get takeout and you both get through one show or an hour before she goes to sleep.
O= Open up (When do they feel comfortable enough to open up? Is it all at once or painfully slow? Do you have to dig?)
She doesn’t hide her past but she often glosses over it. You’re the first person to ask her how it made her feel. I think this shocks her honestly, and she will probably stop talking about it because she skips that part of the story for a reason.
She will open up completely when she feels safe you won’t leave at the possibility of her imprinting or you imprinting depending on if you do that. It still going to take a while to pull away the layers but if the pack all hangs out and they exclude her or make some rude remark and you stand up for her that will speed things along.
P= Patience (Are they quick to anger? How do they calm down?)
Quick to anger no, quick to get annoyed yeah. She puts up with a lot and often times it won’t take long for her to tell you to stop if you’re going the slightest bit to far. Most of the time she just needs to unwind and realize she’s not in fight or flight mode. She’ll probably just need to take a shower or bath with some music and she’ll come back. This only really happens if she fought someone that day
Q= Quiet/Quizzes(What do they like to do when they have time to be alone? What fun things do they remember about you? Do they remember everything?)
Leah likes to make sure things are clean and if she’s missed you on some tv she’s been wanting to watch she’ll do that. She’s gotten into very calm and relaxing games. Stardew valley, animal crossing. Things to do while she waits for you to get back. She’s also gotten really good and has made quite an impressive city in animal crossing. And I think it’s helped her realize she wants to go to school and get a degree in architecture or something like that.
R= Recovery (How you take of them and vice versa after a battle?)
Leah could be bleeding out and she will still check over a minor cut you have. She heals quick she’ll be fine,
“no Leah please relax. I’ll be fine.”
Leah does not want help. I’m sorry but her pride is way too strong. She can heal herself. She is often tense though so at most she will let you massage her. Your concern is cute to her.
S= Safety/Solution (How protective are they? How do they solve problems)
Very. Very protective. If you aren’t a shifter especially because she thinks you need to be protected, if you are a shifter she’s a lot more confident you’ll be okay but you’re still her main concern.
You guys don’t often fight. She’s pretty quick to pick up on anything off so if you’re quieter than usual she’s pretty straightforward
“Hey did I do something to upset you?”
“No just work was long and I’m tired.”
“Okay, I’ll let you rest do you want anything to eat?”
She would rather just get to the root of the problem. But don’t lie because then she will spiral and would rather you say you don’t want to talk about at the moment.
T= Try/ Touch (How much effort do they put in? When they need or want your touch what do they do? How often do they do this?)
Once she knows you’re both on the same page she makes all of the effort. She enjoyed being in a relationship before and wants to be with someone that helps lift both of you up. There are times Emily doesn’t think about what she says when she’s gushing about Sam or she meets someone and tells the story of how they met. Even though skips over the part where leah and Sam were a thing Leah tends to still get annoyed to hear her former bestfriend speak about the event as if it didn’t break leah in a way. Placing your hand on top of Hera or intertwining your hand in Hera helps her relax and realize that you both found someone you were meant to be with.
U= Ugly Side (What a pet peeve of yours they have? Bad habits?)
She gets really cold and sarcastic when anyone else is anything more than cordial. She can’t help and is working on it but she still gets snappy with everyone
V= Vanity (Do they concern themselves over how they look?)
When she has to run patrols or be with the pack she doesn’t worry too much but after work or on days she has to just relax with you she wears what makes her feel cute.
W= Whole (What makes them feel complete?)
I think starting a home outside of the rez will help her feel complete. Like she didn’t need to be in a toxic environment and that she doesn’t have to keep everyone in her life has somewhat healed the broken woman she felt like she was. She probably slowly cuts ties with everyone that hurt her, except Seth and sometimes her mom even though she’d rather not deal with her new family and keeps her distance. If your family is healthy and welcomes she will probably be overwhelmed at first but then really lean into it. And if you came from a broken place yourself she’s okay with it just being you two for a bit
Y= Yuck (What do they not like in a partner?)
Someone who can’t make decisions. She would rather debate or come to a compromise then you just saying “it’s up to you,” or “I don’t care either way” just tell her what you want. It’s one of those things that if you don’t just tell her what you want she will get annoyed and can lead to her just isolating for the night.
Z= Zzzzz (How do they sleep? Sleeping Habits?)
She obviously runs warm so she sleeps fan on in like a tank and shorts also partly because if something happens and she needs to phase she likes to not ruin anything she would want to use later. She also probably starts by cuddling or spooning but quickly moves away so neither of you overheat. However while she likes being little spoon and being the one to rest her head on you homegirl is a top, and she’s a very good one at that too

How about "thank you for being patient" "you never have to thank me for that" for jillypad, also I love that you are getting out of your confort zone it's amazing 👌👌 you still make my day a little brighter😊
omg ur absolutely one of my favorite people on here 🥺 thank u so much for always being so kind to me, i appreciate it tons!! this drabble is—a bit light on the jilypad, because j & s were too stubborn to budge over for lily, but i hope you like it <3
x
“Thank you for being patient with me,” he says quietly. His gaze is still fixed on the ground, still too ashamed to be able to raise them.
“James—James, look at me,” a rough grip on his chip tugs him forward and for the first time in this entire conversation, James looks into Sirius’ eyes. The absence of any condemnation or anger doesn’t help, like one might’ve thought, no. It only makes it so much worse, because here is James, someone who’s hurt his own best friend, the other half of his soul, every single day for who knows how long. He’s been so selfish, for so long, and Sirius still looks at him like that—like he’s a flower turned towards the sun. It’s not right. He shouldn’t have to.
Sirius pinches, hard, until James comes back to him with a yelp. “You never have to thank me for that, you understand?” When James doesn’t respond, his fingers dig in a little more. “Do you understand, Jamie? I will wait for you, as long as it takes, and you do not get to make me feel bad about that. Nor will you beat yourself up over it.”
“But, Si, I- I was flaunting my relationship in your- it must’ve been terrible,” James cries out, putting himself in Sirius’ shoes—in love with someone who’s never once looked at him, knowing their heart is promised to another—and feeling like utter shite for it.
“I…wouldn’t recommend it, no,” Sirius says, still casual as all fuck. “But it wasn’t this great tragedy you’re building in your head, James. It was just other fact of life. Magic is real, hippogriffs are divas, and I was…am in love with you. Simple as that,” he ends with a shrug.
Simple, James scoffs mentally. If there was ever more proof needed that Sirius was the strongest person he knows, then this is it. Because James lived with the feeing that the person he was in love with—well, the other person he was in love with didn’t think of him that way for five days and he was ready to crack. That one week after he realised his feelings for Sirius were like a hitherto undiscovered form of hell—he was miserable.
It took Lily dragging him into an empty classroom and typing him to a chair before he finally admitted it to himself and her.
He was in love with Sirius Black, and from the look of things, it had been that way for a long, long time now. The only reason he hadn’t suspected anything was because their relationship had always felt so right, so complete that he couldn’t imagine needing anything more.
Until the possibility that Sirius might not be his, completely and entirely his, hits him across the head when he overhears a gaggle of admirers talk about dating him.
In the end, its Lily gives him the courage to do it.
Lily, who takes his hand in both of hers and presses the most tender kiss he’d ever felt. For a minute, he is worried, nay, terrified that she’s about to break up with him and what will he do then? Sirius might be the other half of his soul, but Lily was his heart. He couldn’t live without her nor could he blame her if that’s what he decided to do.
It only takes her a second to read the fear in his eyes before she presses the same kiss into his lips, his eyes, his nose, all over his face.
“I’m not going anywhere, love,” she whispers. “But I think it’s time we bring someone else in, hm?”
(James will never understand what he did to deserve not one, but two soulmates who fit him so perfectly when most people go their entire lives without even finding one but he promises himself he’ll never take it for granted, never treat them less than they deserve)
And so he’s here, two days of unsuccessful avoiding later, spilling his guts out to his best mate who’s just responded with the most heartbreaking sentence James’s ever heard.
“Well, I’ve got you beat there, Jamie. I’ve loved you since second year.”
That’s almost the entirety of the time they’ve known either.
Like he’s said, James doesn’t know how Sirius managed it. Can’t fathom how he was able to be there for him, not just as a friend but a wingman in his attempt to woo Lily. James think he’d rather combust than assist Sirius in picking out clothes for a date and condoms for the night after.
“I always knew there was a reason I liked Lily, you know,” Sirius says, suddenly. James blinks at him in question.
“She’s the reason you’re here, isn’t she?” James ducks his head at the knowing lilt of his words, unable to refute the truth of it.
“Well, will you thank her for me, then, J?” Sirius is leaning forward, eyes fixed on his, intense and heated. “Exactly like this, actually.” And he closes the gap between them.

Squeaky Toys
Emily Walker loved her daily jogs through the neighborhood. It was a good way to start the day, get some exercise and greet the neighbors while she's at it.
One day, she came across a stray dog on her way back home. He was a big boy, but he looked hungry and he had no collar. Emily didn't see the harm in bringing him up to the porch for some treats; she always kept a bag of dog food on hand for such an occasion.
"Here you go," she cooed, pouring it into a dog bowl. She set some water out too and scratched his ears while he ate. She looked him over, trying to figure out what kind of dog he was. He looked like a mutt, definitely a mix of some bigger breeds. She could tell he had some Great Dane and Rotweiller in it at least. There would be no way to know without a visit to the vet, but that would never happen. "You're a beautiful boy.... Shame I can't keep you. My husband would never let me bring in a stray...."
He finished his bowl and brought his head up to lick her hand. She chuckled and pet him one last time. "Alright, time for you to go now. Maybe I'll see you tomorrow."
And she did see him the next day. And the day after that, and the day after that. For over a week, she found that beautiful boy on her running trail and brought him up to the porch for a meal and some water.
One day, it was scorching outside. Hottest day of the year according to the news. She still did her run but it was excruciating but it needed to be done. She was sure going to need a shower by the end of it.
She was worried when she didn't see the beautiful dog on her running route, until she found him panting under the shade of her porch. "There you are," she cooed, holding out her hand. "You wanna come up with me? It's nice and cool in the house."
Cordell could deal with one dog in the house on a day like today. And if he made a stink about it, he could just sleep on the couch while Emily wore his favorite set of pajamas.
She brought the beautiful dog in the house and gave him food and water like she did every day. While she drank her fill of hydrating water, she gave him a once over. Poor thing looked filthy and he could probably use some proper cooling off.
"You want a bath, beautiful boy?" she cooed, scratching the top of his head. "I could use a shower. Why don't we share? Save water." She chuckled and let him lick her hand while she led him to the bathroom.
She started the water in the shower and hummed while she got undressed. The beautiful boy sat patiently, like he was already trained, just watching her with soulful eyes.
"Come on, water's ready and we both need it." She stepped in first and the dog followed her. She sighed and stood under the water for a moment before reaching for the soap. Time to get clean.
She took her time washing the dog, making sure the soap got everywhere. She stroked up and down his body and legs, telling him what a good boy he was all the while. She giggled each time his snout dipped between her breasts. "Naughty boy," she teased.
Once they were both rinsed off, she turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. She set a towel down for the dog to step out on and grabbed one to dry herself off. Once she was dry, she started to wrap the towel around herself, then yelped as it was yanked down. Turning around, she saw the dog holding it in his teeth.
She chuckled. "Okay, that's cute, but I can't play tug-of-war right now. Let me have it back, okay?" She grabbed the other end and tugged but the dog wouldn't let it go. She tried tugging harder but to no avail. Her beautiful boy wasn't letting go and eventually she lost her grip and fell backward onto the floor of the bedroom.
Before she could catch her breath, the dog was on top of her, licking at her face and into her mouth. "No, bad dog," she said, pushing his face away.
He huffed and moved down to her breasts, licking and nipping at the soft flesh and- oh that felt good. Emily squeaked and moaned as her beautiful boy loved on her nipples. Her face flushed with embarrassed arousal as she felt her pussy start to get wet. The dog sniffed and licked down her body until his tongue swiped across her clit and Emily nearly screamed.
This was wrong. It was so, so wrong. She should try to stop this, try to stand up and get this dog out of her house. But she really didn't want to. His tongue felt heavenly on the most sinful part of her body and she never wanted it to end. "Such a good boy...."
The beautiful dog made her scream through an orgasm before his tongue disappeared and she nearly sobbed. Then, the dog recentered himself over her and she felt the tip of his cock at her cunt. She shakily pushed herself up to her elbows to look and moaned at the size of his cock. Definitely had some Great Dane in him. "Good boy...."
WIth one solid thrust, the dog slid his whole cock in her and Emily screamed. It felt so good, she felt so full. "Yeah, yeah, good boy...." The dog growled and started thrusting hard and fast before sticking his snout back into her tits, drawing more and more moans out of her.
Emily came twice more before she felt the swell of his knot catching on her cunt. It wasn't much longer before he slammed his full knot into her, sending streams of cum into her womb. For a brief moment, she pictured herself carrying a litter of pups. Then, she came so hard she blacked out.
She woke up to the dog licking his cum out of her pussy and she whimpered her way through yet another orgasm.
----------
Cordell Walker whistled as he entered his home after a long day of work. "Emily! I'm home. What's for-" He stopped still just outside the kitchen. Emily was cooking at the stove. At her feet lay a large, unfamiliar dog. "Em?"
His wife turned and smiled at him. "Welcome home, honey. This is Y/N. I adopted him today."
"You- What?"
She sighed. "I know how you feel about dogs but I know you've got that undercover job coming up and.... I get nervous when you're not home. I just felt safer having him around."
Cordell eyed the dog warily. He wasn't happy about this, but if he made Emily feel safer..... "Welcome to the family, Y/N."

Ginsei's bday 2022 - Rapport (part 4)
Warnings: violence, shooting, vulgar language, minors DNI
Pairing: MC (Saki) x Ginsei
Word count: 878 (part 4)
Prompt: MC and Ginsei working as police officers.
A/N: Saki is MC’s default name in Blackstar Theater Starless. MC and Ginsei’s personalities are not like their default version.
Tumblr media
PART 4
Saki - Are you ready?
Ginsei - Yep.
Ginsei’s housekeeper - Mr. Ginsei, will Mrs. Saki have lunch with you today?
Ginsei - Oh, I actually didn’t…
Saki - Unfortunately, not. Ginsei is already tired of me babysitting him every single day hahah.
Ginsei - *chuckles* I can’t deny that…
Ginsei’s housekeeper - Oh, what a shame, miss. I think Mr. Ginsei is way less grumpy when you spend the day with him.
Ginsei - Where did that come from?
Saki - *chuckles* You two are funny, I’ll give you that. Well… Let’s get going. You can’t get late for your scheduled exams.
Saki and Ginsei left for another doctor’s appointment. As agreed, Ginsei is doing all the exams the doctors requested.
It has been almost a week now since Saki started to accompany him to the hospital. She always waits patiently until he finishes all the tests.
Surprisingly, Ginsei is no longer complaining about his new “mission”. Some say that Saki’s presence encourages Ginsei to take all the tests he needs. No one knows if he sees that as some sort of competition between him and Saki to show her that he is ready to come back to his duties, or if he is just enjoying spending time with her.
It is quite rare to see Ginsei taking care of his health or just doing daily activities with someone else. No wonder his acquaintances and family call him a workaholic.
It’s not like he doesn’t like to go to social gatherings here and there, especially considering he is very popular with the ladies. But, most of the time, he gets excited when he is in action, arresting bad guys and protecting civilians. He has always been like that since the first day he met Saki.
Doctor 1 - Ok, Ginsei. I think we are done for today.
Ginsei - Thank god! I can’t wait to get out of this hospital.
Ginsei - Tomorrow is the last day, right?
Doctor 1 - *chuckles* Yes. You just have one more exam and then we will discuss your test results.
Ginsei - Nice! For the first time, I’m happy to say I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow hahaha.
Saki - Jeez, you know this is your fault, right? If you had taken care of your health properly throughout the year, you wouldn’t have to take so many exams.
Doctor 1 - And please make sure you’ll be here again tomorrow, miss. This way we know he won’t try to escape.
Saki - Sure do!
**
It’s the next and final day of Ginsei’s “mission”. He just can’t believe he managed to keep his promise.
After entering the hospital, he went straight ahead to the exam room. Luckily, this last exam is pretty simple and it won’t take much of his time. Saki is waiting for him in another room to give him privacy while he takes his tests and talks to the doctors about his medical condition.
Forty minutes later, Ginsei has already left the exam room and he is now at the doctor’s room to hear what he has to say.
And he receives good news. The doctor said his leg is fully healed and all the additional exams were good as well, which means he can go back to his patrols.
Ginsei tells Saki about the news and she gets excited for him. To celebrate that, Ginsei invites Saki to have lunch with him at his house. His housekeeper is a great cook, and she knows exactly what kind of food Saki likes. After all, they have been treating her almost every day as a thank-you for encouraging him to do the exams.
However, unlike most of the other days, Saki has other plans.
Saki - Oh, I’d love to. But I have something else on.
Ginsei - I see… No worries. I’ll see you at work tomorrow, then.
Saki - Yeah, sure. See ya!
Ginsei goes home by himself for the first time in a week, and also for the first time in God knows how long, he feels uneasy alone.
The next day, he goes to the police station to see his schedule for the week. But he gets shocked when he hears some colleagues saying that Saki took a one-week vacation.
Ginsei - Hey! What are you guys talking about?
Police Officer 2 - Oh, welcome back, sir! We’re glad you got better.
Ginsei - Ah, thanks. Were you talking about Saki by chance?
Police Officer 2 - Oh yeah. We’re talking about Mrs. Saki’s vacation. I don’t even remember when was the last time she took a vacation. It feels strange, right?
Ginsei - Yeah, I agree. That’s actually weird coming from her. You know if something happened?
Police Officer 2 - It looks like her family wanted to take a family trip and as she didn’t have anything scheduled for this week, she took the opportunity to relax with her family.
Ginsei - That’s nice. If there is someone who deserves a break, it’s her. Well… she may not be here, but I am. No slacking, huh?
Police Officer 2 - Don’t worry, sir. We are ready anytime you need.
Ginsei - Good, cuz I’m also ready for some action.

summary: a series of drabbles where you’re confused and jungkook’s confusing
a/n:
at the end of the chap!!!
Tumblr media
“Babe, you better close your lips,” Yena nudges your shoulders when the two of you approach the football field with treats of your own.
“I’m not … drooling,” you reply lamely, fingers clutching the bag of food and refreshments tightly in your grasp as if it would run away.
“I wasn’t talking about your mouth,” she smirks.
Your head snaps towards her in a flush, ears immediately turning red when she resorts to snickering at your scandalised expression. You thwack her on her shoulder, flustered at the cackles she’s releasing. The food in your hands remains unscathed, purely because you spent a good amount of time preparing it for the boys—knowing that they were entering an important season for their football games.
From where the two of you were walking from, you had a decent view of the football team sprawled across the field, likely resting from one of their many intensive practices. You weren’t concerned with anyone else, and given Jungkook’s flashy hair colour—it was only natural that your eyes immediately fell onto his figure. It also just so happened that Jungkook decided to take his break—shirtless.
You shake your head to snap out of your daydream, fully aware of the way that Yena shoots you a knowing smirk.
“Okay, shut up before you blow my cover,” you hiss.
“You’re telling me that when your face screams I want to lick the sweat of Jungkook’s pectorals—!”
You’re about to drop the food aside, fully ready to attack Yena who looks all too pleased with her teasing, but another voice interjects before you can do any real harm to your friend.
“Is Yena harassing you?”
Yena snaps her head to the source of the voice and immediately narrows her eyes at the smirking figure.
“Oh shut the fuck up, Min,” she snaps.
“Was I talking to you?” He rolls his eyes before turning over to give you a smile, “Hey, ____. Here to feed the dogs?”
You snort, casting a sideways glance to Yena who’s equal parts fuming and red—and you’re definitely sure that it wasn’t because of her apparent anger. The lingering glance that Yoongi rests on her figure with a fond smile tells you enough, and you hide the grin that threatens to appear on your face as you return a kind one to Yoongi.
“Spot on. You’re here to cover their practices?” You make small talk as the three of you make your way towards the football team, most of them too immersed in whatever Namjoon was saying to take note of your approaching figures.
He lets out a deep sigh before nodding, hands stuffed in his pockets.
“You wanted coverage for next months paper, didn’t you?” He teasingly accuses.
You duck your head in embarrassment, remembering the meeting you had with the student reporter union and your exact words. You did need an article written on the football team’s practices for publicity purposes, and you briefly remembered Yoongi and Yena bumping heads on multiple occasions on who was to cover it. Clearly, Yoongi won—or more appropriately, Yena surrendered due to his ‘irritating’ personality.
“I did,” you smile apologetically, “Hopefully it isn’t that bad.”
“All he does is complain,” Yena mutters under her breath.
Yoongi raises a brow with an amused smirk on his face.
“I would’ve been complaining less if I had someone accompanying me,” he says pointedly.
You briefly note the flush on Yena’s cheeks before she grumbles something incoherent under her breath, shoving a fist into Yoongi’s arm in retaliation as he snickers at her reaction. You smile to yourself, eyes turning fond when you realise that Yoongi doesn’t back away even as she bites. All he does is let her have her way, patiently sticking by her side while he placates her growls.
You reach the circle where the footballers were gathered as you quietly tiptoed your way towards the bleachers, setting the food down and taking them out so they could dig in right after they were done. You brought enough for the entire team—but you were still worried since they were male athletes who definitely had an appetite for victory and your sandwiches. You hoped it’d suffice.
Just as you’ve settled down, Jimin spots you when his head snaps up, offering you a wide grin along with nudges to Namjoon and Taehyung’s shoulder. The rest of the team follow the direction of his eyes, and you turn red at the sudden attention of all the men on you as you offer a meek wave, avoiding any real eye contact.
“You came!” Jimin hops towards you, immediately dragging you into a hug as he nuzzles his sweaty forehead into your neck.
You grimace and push him away, scrunching your face at the wetness that sticks to your skin at his contact.
“Ew, you stink,” you whine.
He rolls his eyes before he digs through the food, showing his true intentions on why he came over in the first place.
“And you are an angel,” he coos, pinching your cheeks while you smacked his hand away.
“How was practice?” You hum for the sake of conversation while you watch the boy scarf down your sandwiches like a starved man.
He looks up with stuffed cheeks, pausing in his chomps, “Brufal.”
You offer him a sympathetic smile before squeezing his shoulder.
“All in good time, right?”
He swallows, rolling his eyes in response.
“Said every optimist ever. I just want this season to be over so I can go back to pigging out.”
You snort but you don’t deny his statement. You watch him while he continues to munch on his meal. Something was fulfilling about watching him enjoy your preparations, and you were definitely the type to enjoy taking care of your friends. You were usually the friend that provided advice and comforted people whenever they were faced with a particularly difficult time, and you’ve heard on several occasions from both Jimin, Taehyung—and even Jungkook; that you somehow knew what to do, and say, whenever they were faced with a problem.
It’s nice, to see Jimin happy, and you note to visit more during their practices with food.
“You’re too nice, do you know?” A voice interjects.
You look up from Jimin to see Namjoon walking towards you, with Jungkook and Taehyung trailing behind him. You flush ever so slightly because you briefly remember the last time you saw Jungkook and what happened. It’s been busy for the both of you so you weren’t able to see him much on campus either.
“Stop saying that,” you scowl, “And eat up before Jimin shovels everything down this throat.”
You thrust a wrapped sandwich into his chest that he receives with a dimpled grin. Namjoon wraps a loose arm around your shoulder as thanks and you still grimace at the sweat that lingers on your skin—but you realise that it’s an inevitable part of the role you took, so you sigh and accept it.
“Let’s get married if we both don’t by 35,” Taehyung suggests the moment he’s handed a sandwich of his own as you raise a brow at his proposition.
“So I can make you sandwiches?”
“Yeah,” he nods.
“Sounds pretty misogynistic to me,” you snort, “Make your own damn sandwiches.”
“But they’re not the same,” he whines, “It’s your essence that makes it taste so much better!”
You laugh at his desperate explanation and the wiggle of his eyebrows at his insinuation. You’re thankful he doesn’t smother you with his sweat and only grants you a grateful mumble of appreciation before he’s joining his other brain cell on the bleachers, immediately bickering away about whatever topic they decided on for the day.
When Jungkook comes up for his turn, you can’t keep eye contact. Especially when he’s still in his shirtless glory while he looks at you with those eyes of his, paired with his cheeky grin. He knows exactly what he’s doing and you hate him for it.
“Where’s my sandwich?” He asks, propping himself right in front of you, leaving you no space to breathe or to move away from him.
“There,” you point to the bag rather than handing him one like you did with the rest, “Help yourself.”
Jungkook pouts, tilting his head to the side as he chases your expression to search for your eyes. You’re still avoiding his gaze, and you feel like you’re beginning to perspire at the way he’s blatant with his ogling. The two of you were in public, and your friends have sat a few metres away from you with the rest of his football team lingering nearby and somehow the idea of people seeing the two of you so close gives you anxiety.
“You’re not going to give me one?” He asks.
“You have perfectly usable hands,” you gesture, and you immediately regret it because when you turn to look at him—his arms flex under the ministration when he cages you in with his body.
You let out a yelp, head immediately darting to the side to see whether or not anyone else was paying attention. But your friends are still caught in their own conversation, except Yena who somehow has a sixth sense for your embarrassment—and shoots the two of you a sleazy wink before tonguing the inside of her cheek.
Jungkook catches this, and you’re mortified to see the way his eyebrow raises at Yena’s gesture.
“You gossiping about me to your friend?” He teases.
You know exactly what he’s referring to. You scowl in response, sticking your nose up while you glance in the other direction; away from his smirk.
“Gossiping entails that whatever I said was negative. So, do what you want with that information,” you shrug.
Jungkook tuts, shaking his head before he lets out an amused chuckle.
“Always so bratty,” he sighs, “That smart mouth of yours loves to run itself, hm?” The shift to a much huskier tone stuns you into silence because he’s suddenly much closer, more insinuative and daring with the way he leans his face closer to yours until you’re finding it hard to breathe.
“We’re in public, Jeon,” you hiss.
He snickers, “No one cares except for you.”
“I’m not about to give everyone a free show,” you saw pointedly.
Jungkook smirks, “Who said anything about a show? Can’t I just have you close to me without it meaning anything else?”
You freeze. You know Jungkook doesn’t mean it that way, but you suppose it’s the remnants of insecurity that lingers deep in the back of your mind that makes your heart drop ever so slightly. You know how he feels; how his words are meant to be a light jibe towards you. But your collateral mind can only ask, what if?
As if Jungkook’s picked up on the reason for your silence, or perhaps he was just that good at reading you and your body language, he frowns—immediately reaching a hand to your shoulder and squeezing it to get your attention.
“Hey,” he says softly, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
You feel bad that he has to clarify himself when you yourself wanted to have faith in him—you did. It was more so that you lacked that same faith in yourself. To be that someone to Jungkook even when he’s made it clear to you about he felt. But you knew Jungkook to be the type that jumped from one interest to another like he was flipping through a brochure, and you didn’t mean it maliciously either.
Jungkook just liked a lot of things and could do well in a lot of things too once his mind is set. You were just terrified if that’s all you were to him. A phase that he’s got to experience in his life because it was interesting to him now.
“Sorry,” you whisper, eyes darting to your feet, “I … I know. It’s just—I’m just overthinking. It’s dumb.”
He frowns, “If it’s bothering you it’s not dumb.”
You sigh.
“No, it is,” you emphasise, balling your fist by your side as he looks at you attentively. You hate yourself a little more for being so unsure. “I know you didn’t mean it like that. It’s just that my mind just—it just thinks the worst of every situation. I’m sorry.”
Jungkook doesn’t seem to appreciate the way you’re continuously apologising or avoiding his gaze, so he takes it up himself to reach out his hands to tilt your chin upwards so that you’re looking at him. He’s always loved looking at you, whether you were studying, driving, or even just daydreaming—he loved your eyes and he’d spend most of his days just staring at you.
“I want you. I always want you,” he says and it both takes your breath away and makes your heart pound rapidly against your ribcage, “Everything that I do with you means the world to me. You mean the world to me and I don’t want to fuck this up. I fucked up once and I—I don’t want to mess this up either. So please, if you’re bothered—tell me. I want to know. I want to ease any of your worries now because I wasn’t able to do that before.”
Jungkook speaks so softly that you may have missed the sincerity and desperation laced in his tone, the hushed utterance of his truth that only you were meant to hear. He looks at you so tenderly, so authentically that you feel your heart constrict both in want and guilt. The reassuring grasp of one hand on your hip while the other rests under your chin forces you to acknowledge his sincerity—his want, and most importantly; him.
He notices it before you do, and his thumb wipes under your eyes when you feel the first teardrop. Your face morphs into a wide-eyed expression when you quickly swipe under your eyes to erase the evidence of your heart worn on your face. But Jungkook doesn’t allow you to get far, and he uses his strength to stop your wrists—forcing you to peer up at him with red-rimmed and freshly-swollen eyes.
“Don’t hide from me,” he murmurs.
“Jungkook—” you protest, pushing his hands away but it only makes him clutch you tighter.
“Don’t,” he says firmly, “It’s okay. Just cry if you have to.”
Your face crumbles because Jungkook can be both strict but earnest at the same time. It was conflicting for you not because you didn’t know how you felt but because you cared too much about the prying eyes of others. Even now, when Jungkook only looks at you—your mind strays to the people that talk, to the people that stare and wonder. And you hate it.
“We’re in public, Jungkook,” you say softly through a shaky breath.
You put some distance between the two of you by taking a step back, and Jungkook notices. Of course, he does, especially when space he once felt warmth turns cold. He frowns because he would rather hold you close—show the world and everyone that he loved you. But your eyes stray away, darting everywhere but his face.
“I don’t care,” he huffs, “I want you.”
And no matter how many times he says it, the pessimistic side of you nags at your heart to keep it safe. To keep things under wraps so that you could avoid wandering or curious gaze; especially when anyone could see or say anything.
“I know,” you tell him.
Jungkook scoffs and your eyes shoot up when you realise that Jungkook’s annoyed. The tick in his jaw tells you enough, especially when he takes a step back—placing that distance between the two of you. It sucks when you’re on the receiving end of such coldness and you can’t imagine how Jungkook felt when you pushed him away.
“Do you?” He exasperates, “I’m patient. I am. I’ll wait for you; I told you that and I meant it,” he frowns, “But I just want to hold you. I wanted this for the longest of times and I don’t care where we are in this world because that’ll never make me stop wanting you. I want you when we’re apart, I want you when we’re together and I want you now. When will that be enough?”
Jungkook takes your breath away again, but for different reasons. This time, he sounds tired—desperate, almost. He rubs his hands across his face in frustration and you can tell he’s trying his best to level his breathing. You stand there silent, lips pursed as you mull over his words.
“It is enough,” you tell him, eyes peering up on your own; but this time Jungkook isn’t looking at you and it makes your heart clench. His eyebrows are furrowed and the only thing you can catch a glimpse of is the side of his face. “I just … people talk, Jungkook. I know you’re used to that but I’m not. I don’t like it when people are in my business.”
He scoffs, “And now it’s other people that are standing in between us?” Your eyes narrow at him but the clench of his jaw tells you that he’s not stepping down either, “I am, I’m used to people talking about me whether it be good or bad. And I know you don’t like it—I know,” he exasperates, “But when will we just be enough of a reason for you to take that leap of faith?”
“It’s not that easy—”
“Of course it isn’t!” He exclaims, “I’m not saying it is. I know I fucked up and it made things more complicated than they should be but I’m here now and I’m trying. I’m trying so hard to wait for you because I want to prove myself to you. But if all it takes is just people’s words to get in between us then I don’t know if it even matters anymore.”
You recoil at his words, eyes widening when he finally looks down at you. Jungkook doesn’t look angry. He looks tired, and he sounds tired. Your heart hurts because you don’t know how he feels when all this while you were within arms reaches but not quite. You had the reassurance from Jungkook and your friends that he wanted you—but somehow you couldn’t quite believe it. Was it your fault that you felt this way? Why did you feel this way?
“Jungkook …” you reach out to grab his arm, and he doesn’t push you away. But he doesn’t make an effort to hold your hand like he usually would and it made your stomach drop.
“I love you,” he whispers, “I can shout it on rooftops and announce it to the world if that’ll make you believe me. But when will my love be enough?”
“I want you too, Jungkook,” you reply, squeezing his arm tighter.
“Do you?” He sighs, “It’s hard for me too,” he says as his eyes flutter shut, “I can wait. But it hurts. It hurts because if you really wanted me then that’s all that should matter.”
“Wait, Jungkook—” you reach out to him when he pulls away from you and you feel your heart drop when he doesn’t look at you.
Maybe it was an act of desperation, or your mind telling you to not lose a good thing due to your rumination—but you use all the strength you have to tug him back to you because you couldn’t have Jungkook walk away from you. Not now, when your heart tells you to stop being afraid, to stop being stubborn.
“I need—” he begins with a sigh, but your eyebrows are furrowed in determination when you loop your arms around his neck to tug him down to your level.
And you kiss him.
You think it’s the first time that you’ve initiated a kiss, even when the two of you were messing around. It’d always been Jungkook who took the first step, an exception was your last interaction at your apartment. But if you looked harder, even through the hurt, Jungkook reached out first. Granted, it was never in the way that you wanted—but he always took the first leap, for you and the both of you.
When you kiss him, you feel him freeze under your hold, even when you press your lips harder against his. You don’t think about the consequences, you don’t think about your friends who are likely witnessing your first public display of affection with Jungkook, and you definitely don’t think about the way that the rest of his football teammates gawk at the two of you.
It feels scary—but right. And that’s all that should’ve mattered.
When you pull away, you’re breathing heavy, peering your eyes up to Jungkook who’s stunned to silence with a gape in his mouth.
“I’m sorry,” you blurt.
You briefly see from the corner of your eye the way that Yena is squeezing Yoongi’s arm who looks as surprised as the boy in front of you. You even see Namjoon, with a hint of a smile on his face even as he looks away. Your heart clenches in guilt, but you’ve spent far too long hurting yourself and Jungkook.
“I didn’t mean to pressure you into this,” Jungkook whispers, brushing a thumb over your cheek.
“You … you didn’t,” you assure him with a small smile before you nibble on your lips. “You’re right. This—us—it should’ve been enough for me.” You tell him as he observes you with gentle eyes, “And it is. It’s always been but I’ve always been afraid and honestly? I still am. I’m terrified because this is new for me and I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“I know,” he murmurs, pulling you closer as your arms still rest loosely around his neck, “I’m scared too. But it’s worth it. You’re worth it.”
You turn a pretty shade of red when you duck your head to avoid his fond gaze. He chuckles when you do so, endeared by your embarrassment even if you were the one that reached out first—to proclaim your affection with your kiss.
But some moments don’t last forever, and they’re not meant to. So when a third party interjects and snaps you out of your little bubble with Jungkook, you freeze.
“You sure she isn’t a two-timer, Jeon?” Jeonghan, who you briefly remember seeing at some of the football games, interjects with a raised brow as he leans on the railings of the bleachers.
You still, immediately loosening your grip around Jungkook’s neck and he realises your hesitancy—sees the fear that erupts just when you found the courage to take that first step.
“What?” You whisper.
Jungkook shoots his teammate a blazing glare that you don’t catch because you’re too busy avoiding his gaze, the attention causing the heat to rise on your cheeks and the sweat to accumulate by your hairline and on your body.
“Dude—it’s not worth it,” he snorts, “What next? She sleeps her way through the entire team?”
Your face drops, and Jungkook finally lets go of you. Your eyes widen because you think for a second that he believes his teammate, that Jeonghan has managed to somehow lure his way into the depths of Jungkook’s mind to plant that seed of doubt within his already muddled mind.
“What the fuck did you just say?” Jungkook asks with a menacing glare.
You’re frozen, but Namjoon is quickly at your side—concern etched on his face after Yena noticed the tension arising from your corner. Jimin and Taehyung are right behind him, observing the situation as they see Jungkook’s chest heaving when he stares his teammate down.
“I’m just saying,” Jeonghan shrugs, shooting you a knowing glance, “Wasn’t she fucking captain?”
“Jeonghan,” Namjoon intervenes, voice stern.
“What?” He raises his hand in defence, “Weren’t you about to ask her out?”
You hate this. You hate the attention and hate how he speaks about you as if you weren’t standing there—mortified. You especially hate the way that the rest of the team filters where the tension begins to escalate. They’re curious, for sure—at how their captain and their best player is suddenly caught in this dilemma with Jeonghan as the instigator.
“That has nothing to do with you,” Namjoon narrows his eyes at him in response.
Jeonghan snorts, “Um. It kind of does. You bailed on us for her,” Jeonghan states pointedly, “And now she’s locking lips with the golden boy here. She played you, man.”
Before Namjoon can respond, Jungkook takes a threatening step towards Jeonghan as he basically towers over him. Your hair stands on your arms as you can more or less tell where this is going, especially with the way that Jungkook’s fists clench by his sides.
“Jungkook—” you squeak, hands reaching out to rest on his shoulder.
You snap out of it, purely because you know that Jungkook’s pissed. His ears are red and his jaw is clenched, and you don’t want to know what’ll happen if you remained stagnant any longer.
“Stay out of this,” he snaps.
You blink, and even Namjoon looks taken aback. Jimin has concern written all over his features as he steps forward, likely attempting to mitigate the situation.
“Jungkook, don’t be stupid,” Jimin berates.
Jungkook turns around and all you see behind his usual doe-eyed gaze is now a fire that burns and is threatening to blaze anything in its way. And right now, Jungkook’s glaring at Jimin like he’s a rock in his journey.
“You’re going to let him say that shit about her?” Jungkook snaps.
“What’s fighting him going to do?” Jimin exasperates, eyebrows furrowed, “Don’t dig yourself a deeper hole and calm the fuck down. We have a game in two weeks and starting something now won’t do any of us good.” He raises his voice towards the end as he glares at every single person who has so happened to crowd around the lot of you to see what was happening, “Did you not hear what I said? Mind your own fucking business!”
The rest of the team murmurs amongst themselves, not before shooting you a disparaging glance that makes you feel uneasy. You look away because that’s the best you could do, fingers resting limply by your sides while you shift behind Jimin as if he was able to protect you from the wandering stares.
It was your exact fear, and somehow fate seems to hate you with the way your dream-like state with Jungkook is immediately ruined with your fears being proven.
Taehyung and Yena are by your side, looking at you with worry as you avoid their gaze. Your mind is louder, though you catch the lecture that Jungkook’s getting from Jimin for almost fighting Jeonghan. Even if nothing happened—the indents of Jungkook’s fingernails on his palm proves enough of what could happen if it weren’t for Jimin, or Namjoon, intervening.
“God, he’s such a fucking asshole,” Yena grumbles, pulling you to her side as she rubs your shoulder soothingly.
You say nothing, and you briefly see Yoongi walking over; offering you an apologetic glance that you mildly acknowledge.
“You okay?” Taehyung asks softly.
You sigh, fiddling with your fingers as you look over your shoulders to see Jungkook already staring at you.
“I want to be,” you reply, “But I fucked things up.”
Yena frowns, “Don’t say that.”
“But it’s true,” you exasperate, “If I hadn’t led Namjoon on or—if I just didn’t … if I just didn’t feel the way I did for Jungkook then—”
“And then what?” Jungkook’s voice snaps you out of your rambling as you turn around to see him furrowing his brows at you.
“Jungkook—” you reach out to him, again. He only flinches in response.
“If you didn’t feel the way you did for me and then what?” He whispers voice frustrated, “Then you’d get to protect yourself?”
“Jungkook,” Taehyung says sternly, eyes warning.
He pays him no mind, however, as you continue to blink up at him.
“That’s not what I meant,” you defend.
“What do you mean, then?” Jungkook snaps, “Because five minutes ago we had this exact same conversation—and then you kissed me—and now it’s like we’re back to square one. So what do you actually mean because I can’t keep trying to come up with my own answers!”
“That’s what I mean, Jungkook!” you frown, gesturing your arms wildly towards the team who’s all grouped together a good distance from where you were, “That. People talking. God, I want you too but I can’t live with the constant hypotheticals of people wondering how the fuck you could ever be with someone that apparently slept with your captain.”
“I don’t care about what people say!” He says vehemently, stepping closer to you.
The rest of your friends observe silently as they all exchange looks, shifting away to give you some privacy. You were so confused, and tired—and you didn’t even care if you were in public anymore and that people could see the argument brewing between you and Jungkook.
“I know you don’t,” you snap, “But not everything is about how you feel, Jungkook. You can live your life because everyone’s going to be pointing figures at me. Not you. It’s because it’s my name that’s being thrown around like I’m some—like I’m some whore who can’t keep her legs closed and—”
“Don’t fucking say that,” Jungkook snarls.
“—it’s what people are saying!” You cry, “Jungkook. Just a month ago you were with Jennie and I was somehow with Namjoon. What … what will people think?”
“So that’s what you’re afraid of?” He laughs dryly.
“What—?”
“You’re afraid because of what other people may think?” He repeats your words back to you, standing closer as you shift back, eyes avoiding his heavy gaze.
“I’m scared of a lot of things, Jungkook,” you say softly.
“I want to be there for you,” he tells you, voice softer than the previous harsh tone he took, “Me risking my position on this team just now? Yeah, that’s what I would do to protect you. I know people will talk and I know it sucks because your name is thrown in the loop—but you have me. You have Namjoon, Jimin, Taehyung and Yena. We all would do anything to protect you so why are you still so afraid?”
Jungkook’s beginning to sound more desperate, especially with the way he’s somehow clutching on your elbows as if you’d slip away.
“I”—what were you afraid of? You seemed to have all the answers earlier, and even after Jungkook’s pleas, you find yourself hesitating. The anxiety of people looking at the two of you and wondering how the hell could it work—or whether or not you were set on breaking Jungkook’s heart; and vice versa. You remember the names of people who’s ever questioned your friendship and if there was something more. You remember Sana, harmlessly saying that it seemed impossible for the two of you to be together.
The entire time, fear plagues your mind, and you can’t give Jungkook an answer because it’s more than just people. It was you. It was you being terrified that you weren’t enough and that he’d see how imperfect you were compared to the girl he thinks he loves. You weren’t the smart, independent girl that participated in every club on campus. You were … small. You were fragile and weak, and insecure.
“I can’t keep doing this,” he says defeatedly, resting his forehead on the crown of your head.
Your heart drops.
“Please don’t say that,” you croak.
You feel the lump in your throat grow, and when you look up—you see a pained expression painting Jungkook’s face.
“I don’t want to say that,” he whispers right before he reaches up to clutch your face in his hands, “But I think I need to.”
“You don’t!” You cry, your own arms reaching out to clutch at the collar of the fresh shirt he’s managed to throw on.
“This doesn’t change the fact that I love you,” he reminds you gently.
You hate that you’re crying. The hot, wet tears that flow down your cheeks is a reminder of your vulnerability. Of how much control Jungkook has over your feelings.
“Why does it sound like you’re breaking up with me,” you cry.
He smiles, soft and half-hearted as he pulls you into a hug.
“We aren’t together,” he reminds you. Your heart clenches because you could’ve been.
“I …” you want to say that you could be. You want to tell him that you want him. And you do. But your mouth doesn’t move when all you can hear is sobs escaping you.
“Think about it, okay?” He murmurs, brushing your hair out of your face so that you wouldn’t end up crying all over the strands of hair uncomfortably, “If you … if you’re still afraid. That’s okay. We can be friends, and I can pretend like this never happened. I’ll always respect your decision.”
“But …”
He shushes you gently, wiping at your tears.
“I told you. I’ll wait for you—but I can only do that if you want me to,” he says sadly, “I love you. I do. I spent the past seven years of my life loving you, but I need to know if you feel the same.”
“I do!” You immediately respond, eyes wide.
He shakes his head with a small laugh, “You may love me. But love isn’t always enough.”
His words are heartbreaking, and you feel yourself crumble all over again. But your mind isn’t clear and you’re overwhelmed with emotion. Jungkook’s still looking at you gently like he always had. But it seems different.
“Let me take you home first, yeah?” He whispers.
You stop his movements when he reaches out to pick at your belongings as you grab a hold of his hand.
He turns to look at you with a raised brow and you notice how tired and sunken his eyes look. Your heart clenches for the millionth time and you just want to—
“Can I kiss you?”
It’s funny that you’re the one asking that question. When weeks ago it was him in that same position. You realise how vulnerable Jungkook must’ve felt when he posed you with the same question because you feel the exact same. You feel like your heart is on the floor, exposed to everyone as they examine the ins and outs of your feelings.
Jungkook looks at you softly, before pulling you to his chest and pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
And like always, Jungkook can’t say no to you.

Okay this may sound like an oddly detailed request but can you do a Laszlo x reader where Laszlo has been courting the reader for a while and has never met her father, because her father is dead or abandoned her at a young age or something like that and she never told Laszlo, but Laszlo is instant on meeting him for some reason or something like that?
Sorry if thats a weird request

Unofficial Meeting [Dr Laszlo Kreizler x Fem!Reader]
Word count: 1.8k
Warnings: a bit angsty, mention of old fashioned ideas
Author’s note: I hope you will like it and I respected your wishes <3
"Miss?"
The voice of your chamber maid called you distracting you from answering some correspondence.
"Yes?"
She smiled so widely as a bouquet of white roses and peonies was presented in front of you. She giggled as she was just so happy for you. You have been courted by Dr Laszlo Kreizler for some time now, but he never missed to send you flowers on a Saturday morning, it was his ritual since you two became serious.
"Those are so beautiful, miss"
She said excitedly before leaving you to read the note, she was probably living the romance through you which was quite weird but cute to witness.
You opened the card, Laszlo usually was a brief but intense poet, but this time the message was clear. Can I tempt you with a lunch at Delmonico's?
You frowned lightly before looking out of your window, his dark clothing making him strikingly visible in the greenery of the park in front of your house, he raised his hat for you and smiled.
Damn him and his top level courting.
You put your letters away and got ready spraying some perfume on you before going out, your maid helping you with your coat and hat.
When you stepped out of the front Door Laszlo was waiting in front of your gate.
"You could have called"
He smirked at you "it wouldn't have been a surprise" he concluded simply.
You smirked as it was true and you have also learned to admire the extent of Laszlo'd courtship. He was attentive and respectful, he knew when to trace a line to forbid any kind of bad talks. He was already famous for being a maverick and he didn't want to put that stigma on you too.
You obliged him as you walked your way together to the restaurant, he never failed to ask you about your day and your plans. he was very attentive and you reserved him the same tenderness asking him about his patients or latest articles.
Once you arrived at the restaurant you were brought to one of the best tables, Laszlo taking upon himself the honour to move your chair back behind you and then back toward you for you to sit comfortably.
"Thank you Laszlo"
He smiled proudly taking it as a compliment, but he looked rather stiff and tense for his usual mannerism toward you.
Once you ordered your meal he toyed with his glass of wine a bit attracting inevitably your attention.
"What is wrong?"
He looked at you surprised by your question, but he smiled because you sort of alleviated him from the weight of beginning what he wanted to ask.
"I was just wondering when I will be able to meet your father" he said just as directly as your question was "I met your grandmother and your uncles and aunts, I am missing somebody"
He said it quite easily as your mother had left this earth early for the standard and you regret she won't be able to see what an amazing man you met.
"You don't need to meet him"
He stared at you puzzled, what really concerned him wasn't your refusal, but more the hardness you showed into expressing it.
"I think I do"
You glared at him, your conversation briefly interrupted by the waiters landing the plates in front of the two of you.
He thanked them before looking back at you, your stern look still there.
You had discussions before but never of this size and also as much as he tried before to hint the theme of your father he wasn't acknowledged at all.
He also noticed how the rest of your family followed that same guideline, acting like they found you under a tree.
"I think it is something I have to do sooner or later"
You glared at him again.
"Stop it"
It was hard for him to stop. He was already launched on the theme and he was worse than a wild animal when he got fixated over a theme in particular.
You pushed some common ground theme while you ate. Like John or Sara's agency or other mundane things, but you hated to see the intensity in his look.
That question over and over into his mind.
You never hated to be with him as much as you did now.
You declined the offer of a dessert pretty quickly just wanting to go away.
Laszlo obliged and lead you back outside escorting you to your place.
"I don't mean to be invasive.."
"But you're" you confirmed to him "thank you for the lunch, I can walk myself home on my own”
You left him there moving after your house's gate.
He stood there biting the inside of his cheek nervously.
You didn't contact him any further on that day or the ones that followed, to be honest you avoided him and his flowers and attentions. You even stayed at home instead of attending places you were supposed to be, but where he also might find you.
Until your grandmother called you and you furiously ordered your maid to call the doctor and make him come at your place.
He arrived quicker than you expected. He was worried something happened, maybe you were ill and nobody told him.
When your maid showed him the way to your study and closed the door behind him he tried immediately to politely ask you about your state but your eyes burned holes like bullets in him.
“How dare you?” You growled at him. He stood still in front of you, his back straight even if you didn’t fail to notice the frown on his forehead.
“How dare you to call my grandmother? To ask her something I specifically told you I don’t want to share or talk or even mention? What is s hard about it? What makes you rightful to come bashing into my life asking for answers? “Y/N”
“No, no Y/N, you doctor, should learn to put a line between when you’re an alienist and when you’re a decent human being” you were being extra hard on him, but just earring your grandmother worried voice was enough to make you snap his neck.
He took your rage like a champion, even if he clearly was suffering it.
“Why is so important Laszlo? Why to see your mind at ease? It is just a man, somebody that doesn’t belong to my life, why you have to push it? Why you always have to push it?” “I just hoped..” “Hoped what? Hoped that a man that abandoned a pregnant woman while courting her was worth my time and thoughts? That I need to share my own life with somebody that wasn’t there? That never asked to meet me, or even see the woman he swore to every wind that he loved? That put my mother in the position of being considered a whore? How my grandma had to pretend I was hers to try give my mother a good shot at life?”
All those truths hit Laszlo like a bag of bricks, he was overwhelmed and saddened. Those situations were the ugliest in those times. Women always paying off the debts of the lust of men. The simple promise of a marriage just to gain something that could be tasted forever with a little more of wait. Just the human need to break a rule, just one, that revolutionary feeling that only losers at heart have. Because nobody makes a revolution over the expenses of a loved one.
“I had no idea” he concluded
“I hope you are satisfied now, your scientific mind has now all the puzzle pieces, now leave and let my family alone”
You could see his shoulders fall as you said that to him, his face paling in fear and sadness. He pressed his lips tight against each other, his jaw hurting as he didn’t know if at this point was really worth it to explain why he insisted so much. He ruined it, he tried to treat you with the white gloves and instead he hurt you even more.
“I apologise” he said staring at you, you letting him speak for the first time “I never meant to put you in such a position, I really just meant to be close to your family and I couldn’t see the fault in my own desires”
He admitted it but you didn’t wince, he crossed the line, he went too far and he needed to learn to respect the limits of others, not everyone needed to be under his care.
“I said you may leave”
He looked out of your window searching for words. Your anger was waving down as he looked so upset, and he should be.
“I am also a victim of our society in my own means, even if my behaviour is not excusable in any way, I stupidly fixated on the idea of doing things right with you and some things… Well, they teach us boys some things have to be asked to a father first”
You looked at him with a frown, you shook lightly your head as you didn’t understand his point and you were five seconds away from throwing him the vase with the latest flowers he sent you when you looked at him pul out a little velvet box from his inner pocket.
“The times are modern now, it was silly of me to try move past you like that” he leaned the box on your desk. He nodded at you respectfully leaving. You were left alone with that little box, you stared at it for a moment before moving closer to it.
You looked out of the window as you heard the gates closing and you watched Laszlo’s figure walk away.
Your eyes darted from his back to the box in front of you slowly opening it to find the ring of the dreams of any girl.

Ok but yandere carlise x reader x yandere esme
(Not as detailed as I’d hoped to make it, but I quickly realized that if I went into detail then this thing would become very long. Hopefully avoided making the characters too OOC. Let me know if you like it, and how I did!)
You first met Dr. Cullen when you spent the day volunteering at the local hospital for one of your college classes.
There was a whole group of students there to help out, and you honestly weren’t sure why he seemed to notice you in particular; it certainly wasn’t because you were doing such a great job. Your work speed, in restocking the closets, was roughly average, and you kept having to ask your fellow volunteers where things were supposed to go. Granted, you at least weren’t one of the students who was transparently doing the absolute bare minimum to get the credit, but you wouldn’t exactly consider yourself a shining star of competence either.
Still, Dr. Cullen approached you personally to say, “Thank you for your help. You’re really doing us a great service.”
He was a beautiful man, with warm eyes that seemed to be beholding the goodness in your soul, for how amiably they glimmered.
“I don’t know if I can take any credit,” you said, admittedly flustered by the attention. “It was our teacher’s idea.”
He smiled kindly. “Nevertheless, we’re glad to have you here.”
You smiled back. “Glad to be here.” Then you continued working.
When Carlisle walked away from you, he carefully kept the reluctance from showing in his expression. He sent Esme a quick text warning her that they might have another soulmate in town: a human. His initial thought was that this would be the end of it; so long as Esme avoided meeting you, she wouldn’t feel the awful desperation currently clawing its way up Carlisle’s throat, and so long as Esme wasn’t suffering, Carlisle was confident in his own ability to let you live your own life, just as he had done with Esme, at first…
But then, he knew how that had turned out for her: years of pain, mistreatment…The thought of anything of the sort befalling you…The world was so dangerous, between humans and vampires and other such things, and you, so small in comparison, so vulnerable…
Carlisle regained his composure (though, to the untrained eye, he hadn’t lost it in the first place). The world could be dangerous, yes, but his awareness of that fact was informed, in no small part, by the fact that he wanted justification for keeping you. And he couldn’t give himself such license; it wouldn’t be right.
He wouldn’t drag you away from your human life.
Perhaps he could keep watch over you, and do you small favors every now and then, but that was the most he could afford to indulge.
He heard your stomach growl from across the room; he detoured to a vending machine and bought you a light snack. (Perfectly timed, Alice texted him your preference. No doubt, she was scouring the future to see how you might fit into it; he would have to have a talk with her, to be sure she didn’t go overboard. And deciding to have a talk with Alice functioned in the same way having a talk with Alice did.)
Dr. Cullen handed you a snack from the vending machine, which puzzled you at first; it didn’t seem like the hospital was handing out food to anyone else, and even if they were, why would one of the doctors take the time for such a thing?
He answered your unspoken question with a polite smile and the words, “You were looking a bit faint; I thought you might need this.”
Had you been looking unwell? You didn’t think you felt that bad, but a doctor would recognize the signs if something was wrong, and you were pretty hungry. “Thanks,” you said, and he dipped his head in your direction. Then he and his kind smile departed.
That wasn’t the last time you met Dr. Cullen.
Your paths crossed in all sorts of places: in the grocery store, he tapped you on the shoulder once to ask if you’d dropped a hundred dollar bill, and he urged you to keep it even once you’d told him it wasn’t yours; you saw him in your school’s science building, one day (He was there to speak to one of the professors, and he asked you if you had drunk any water recently.); and you even ran into him at the library. All incidents spaced out over weeks; not close enough together to really be coincidences worth thinking about. You figured that you had probably crossed paths just as much before meeting him, but only noticed now because you knew who he was.
Anyway, the two of you remained acquaintances. He was a nice man.
When someone slammed into your car, a few months later, he was the doctor who cared for you.
“A hit and run?” he murmured, tutting in displeasure as he moved a light across your eyes. “People should be more considerate, and careful with other people’s lives. You could have been seriously hurt.”
“They probably just made a mistake and were scared of the consequences,” you offered, because the doctor genuinely seemed somewhat upset. You were trying to assume the best about the other driver, because the alternative was getting angry about something you couldn’t change. You had barely even seen the car that had hit you. You just knew that it was some shade of yellow, and apparently much stronger than yours. “I wish we’d gotten to trade insurance information or something, though; my car is apparently totaled.” Despite your best efforts, your voice wavered.
“Don’t you worry about that,” Dr. Cullen said, and you were probably delirious, but something about the decisive way he said it made it seem, to you, as if he himself planned on helping you get your car fixed. “Follow the light with your eyes.”
You did.
“Have you...” The doctor seemed to choose his words carefully. “Have you called anyone, to let them know what happened, and that you’re alright?”
“No, I guess I haven’t. The ambulance got there so fast, I guess I didn’t have time to think about it.” You weren’t terribly concerned, though; if your relatives hadn’t been made aware of the crash, then they didn’t know to be worried yet. No need to call them now.
Dr. Cullen stilled at your words, though; the light in his hands shone in the spot between your eyes and did not move. It was as if he was deep in thought. No, as if he were at war with himself.
“Dr. Cullen?” you prompted.
He quickly smiled, setting down the light. “I think you should call them. Now, if you can. I would...just feel better if someone knew where you are, and that you’re alive.”
You called them (as awkward as that felt with the doctor right there in the room, patiently waiting), and Dr. Cullen seemed to relax.
Once you were released from the hospital, you went back to only seeing him every once in a while, around town.
Your car was mended seemingly overnight, under mysterious circumstances, and a part of you jokingly wondered if Dr. Cullen was some sort of fairy godmother, or guardian angel.
Then, another month after your accident, a stranger approached you while you were walking back from your last class of the evening.
“Hi,” the stranger greeted you, somewhat apologetically. She was shorter than you, with a lovely face and spiky black hair and a spritely disposition. “I’m Alice. I’m so sorry to bother you, but could you help me carry something to my car? It’s getting late, and I really don’t want to be here after dark.”
“Oh, sure,” you answered, feeling so at ease that you forgot every warning that would normally flood to your mind about the danger of following a stranger to her car. So at ease that your mind somehow just failed to observe the taller guy standing right next to Alice, well in your field of vision. You saw him, but you didn’t really think much of him.
You followed Alice to a bright yellow Porsche, and the shade of yellow stirred something in your memory, but you couldn’t say what; you were too busy looking for what you were supposed to be helping her lift.
A lovely woman with a long blond ponytail leaned against the car trunk, staring at something that she was holding in her hand, and there was a figure sitting inside the car, too; you couldn’t see them through the tinted windows, but you saw enough to be confused as to why you had been called here to help when it seemed Alice had many potential helpers, here.
Your panic, as you began to realize the ruse, had only just begun to climb when the blond woman suddenly moved, swift as a bird, behind you, and there was a hand over your mouth and a feeling like a pinch in the side of your neck.
The thing she was holding. It was a syringe.
The tall guy (the one you hadn’t thought much of, at first) moved to open the nearest door of the Porsche; he moved the passenger seat forward, to access the back row of seats.
“Wait, stop,” you slurred against the hand (the stunningly cold hand) over your mouth, as the woman who had syringed you began to maneuver you into the Porsche with surprising strength. You were already losing control of your limbs.
“This is officially the worst thing I’ve ever done,” the woman griped as she slid you carefully inside, then climbed in behind you. You were sandwiched between her and the person you’d seen through the tinted windows: a sulking young man with bronze hair. Four strangers total, and you were in the back seat of their car.
“Thank you, Rosalie, for your help,” Alice said resolutely. “Will you drive, Jazz?”
The tall one nodded, climbing into the driver’s seat while Alice occupied the passenger side.
You struggled to find your voice, or your fists, through the haze of sedative.
“It’s okay,” said the sulking young man at your side, in a surprisingly gentle voice. “I’m able to hear you, even if you can’t speak. I can read minds.”
“The human is still awake?” Rosalie said.
“Not for much longer, but yes. You have time to apologize.”
“Sorry about all this,” Rosalie said, gently nudging your mouth closed (as it had fallen open). “Don’t be scared; we just…have to bring you to Carlisle and Esme. They’re pretty great people, and they’ll treat you really well. And these guys were going to do it anyway, so I had to come and make sure things went smoothly. Alice and Jasper can’t even administer a shot; they probably would have chloroformed you or something-”
“Wouldn’t’ve had to,” said the tall guy in the driver’s seat- Jasper, apparently. “Could’ve just lightly flicked the back of their head at the right angle. Provided Alice checked the future to make sure we did it right.”
“…and didn’t cause a concussion, or worse,” the bronze-haired one deadpanned.
There was a brief silence. You were sinking against the self-proclaimed mind reader, unable to support your own weight. You were about to sleep. You actually wanted to sleep.
“Don’t worry, Rose,” Jasper added. “I’ve made sure the human isn’t afraid.”
You supposed you weren’t. Why weren’t you?
You fell asleep before you could figure it out.
You awoke to the sound of agitated voices, outside the (closed) door of a bedroom that was not your own.
You were in a bed, and it was obscenely soft and pleasant, but it wasn’t yours, and you weren’t home.
Where am I?
You felt weak, and tired. Heavy, confused. But you had to stay awake, and regain your wits, because you had been taken somewhere, and you didn’t know where or why. There was a window across the room. It was nighttime outside the window. Maybe if you could make it over there, you could climb out and run for it, but you didn’t yet have the strength to even get the bedcovers off of you.
“Because it’s been awful to watch how badly it affects you to be away from your mate,” one of the voices outside the door was saying. “All five of us agreed, and we never agree on anything!”
“And it’s not like it wouldn’t have happened eventually,” another voice agreed. “Just like with Esme.”
“Exactly! You were only prolonging your own suffering, for no reason.”
There was a sigh, and a familiar voice said, “Are you all finished?” It was Dr. Cullen; that much you knew, even though you had never heard him sound so tired.
“We did it for you, because you deserve happiness.”
“And now that Esme has seen them, there is no way to undo it, is there?” Dr. Cullen asked rhetorically. “Edward, is the human awake?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll bring some food up, Carlisle,” an entirely new voice suggested. “The children have been…underhanded, today, but there’s no reason we shouldn’t make the best of it.”
“It was for the best.” (Your head was clear enough, now, that you recognized this unabashed voice as belonging to Alice.) “You’ll see.”
Footsteps approached the door, and shortly a woman entered the room. She was soft-looking, with caramel brown hair, and she held a dinner plate in her hands.
“Good evening,” she said, soberly. Sitting on the edge of your bed while you struggled to sit up. “I’m so sorry the kids did this; we didn’t ask them to, but they thought they were doing us a service. I’m Esme Cullen, Dr. Cullen’s wife. Here: eat something.”
You ate a forkful of pasta only because it was too close to your mouth to refuse. “Why ‘m I here?” you asked hoarsely. “Take me home.” Another forkful slid into your mouth.
“I’m very sorry,” Esme said. “I’m so, so sorry, but you see…the trouble is…” Her eyes scanned over you, and she smiled a seemingly involuntary smile and didn’t finish her sentence. As if looking at you was simply a much better use of her time.
“I want to go home,” you said.
Esme sighed, pressing her lips together contritely. “The trouble is, I can’t bear to relinquish someone who is so important to Carlisle, and Carlisle can’t bear to relinquish someone who is so important to me. I promise you, though, we will make it up to you.” She fed you more pasta.
It tasted delicious, but that did nothing to assuage your terror. “You don’t even know me. What do you mean, I’m important to you?”
Esme clicked her tongue softly and rhythmically against the roof of her mouth, as if to soothe. “Carlisle can explain that better than I. But rest assured, everything is going to be alright.”
Your skin crawled, at the dissonant cordiality. “Where is Dr. Cullen?”
You heard a flutter of what could have been footsteps, if people were capable of moving that fast. Then, the bedroom door opened again and Dr. Cullen entered.
“Hello again, dear heart,” he greeted you, and his demeanor was about the same as it was in public, or in the hospital. Respectful, polite. Maybe just a bit...off. Too much of something, maybe too polite and kind for the circumstances. “I’m terribly sorry about all of this.”
The apologies were making this worse. “You don’t have to be sorry,” you said. “Just please take me home.”
“I can’t do that, angel,” he sighed. He did appear sorry, but not as sorry as he should have. “But I can explain everything to you now.”
He sat down on the other side of the bed, opposite Esme, who was still feeding you. And he did explain everything, in such expansive detail that you fell back asleep before he even got to the part about mates.
“You can pretend with them, but not with me.” The voice was quiet, and not so much accusatory (despite the pointedness of his words) as reminding.
“I know that, son.” Dr. Cullen sounded positively serene.
“You knew how much time you were spending with Jasper, in your saddened state.”
“Yes.”
“You knew that we would do this.”
“I…suspected.”
“You meant for us to do this.”
“That’s enough, I think. Thank you.”
Silence fell.
You opened your eyes just a crack. The pillow beneath your face was awash with yellow light; the sun had risen, since last you’d fallen asleep. None of it had been a dream. You were still trapped in a house with these people who thought they were vampires. You closed your eyes again. The two voices had been speaking from the direction you were facing: Dr. Cullen at your level, perhaps in a chair at your bedside; and the other above, as if standing.
“One month,” the first voice suddenly added, and you weren’t sure what it was in reference to. It was as if an inaudible question was being answered.
“That’s her optimistic guess, or her pessimistic?” Dr. Cullen inquired.
“If all goes well, it will be one month. Poorly, and the longest she’s seen is three months.”
“Well, that is good to hear. I’ve waited much longer with hope for much less.”
“I know.”
You turned over, so that your back was to them, and began to open your eyes again, but then you heard Dr. Cullen rise from his seat, take up the chair, and move around the foot of the bed. You kept your eyes shut as he set his chair down on the new side and sat in it once more. He did all of this matter-of-factly, as if he’d changed sides every time you’d turned over during the night.
The thought of anyone wanting to see your face that badly made you shiver a bit.
“Awake?” Dr. Cullen inquired casually. You didn’t hear an answer, but the other man must have nodded, because Dr. Cullen continued, “Good. Esme will be done with breakfast soon. She’s so happy to be cooking again.”
“Jasper is in the kitchen with her,” the other said, as if that was a related statement somehow. “I’m going hunting. Good luck.”
You weren’t sure why, but you felt as if he was talking to you as much as Dr. Cullen.

A Little in Love
Summary: Having broken off your engagement for an arranged marriage with him, your relationship is in shreds. As you and Gojo begin as friends again, he wonders if he ever fell out of love for you. Has he?
Notes: Gojo Satoru is good-looking, all powerful and beyond good at his job. I’ve always wanted to explore something he struggles with
Gojo Satoru  x reader

Genre: ANGST AND PINING, exes to friends to ??, commitment issues lol (wc: 1.3k) tw: mention of blood, infedelity-ish
“Are you sure you’re not in love with them?”
That question wipes the smile off Gojo Satorou’s face.
Tonight’s dinner was unexpected. You ran into Shoko Ieri, Jujutsu Kaisen’s resident doctor and Gojo Satoru just as your work day ended. One thing led to another and the three of you ended up in a soba place not too far from Jujutsu Tech. When you excused yourself to use the washroom Ieri-san grabs the chance to ask the burning question on her mind.
“So what’s the answer? You’re awfully quiet.”
“We’re not engaged anymore. That ship has sailed.” he waves his hand dismissively.
Ieri rolls her eyes. All throughout dinner, Gojo was teasing you, offering you food, playing light pranks at you just like he was when you were teenagers. The way he looked at you was enough to tick any off about how he feels.
She retorts, “You can try again now that you’re adults. You’re allowed to make a go at a love match.”
Gojo’s relationship with you is…complicated. You two were arranged to be married when you were children, but had broken up as teenagers.
Gojo looks contemplative, his hands clasped together.
“I’ve thought about it.” he sighs, “And I think about it every time we meet, but—I don’t think I’m the type to commit and they need a commitment type. It’s not a match.” Ieri scowls on your behalf.
During your time at Jujutsu Tech, he simultaneously wanted to give your relationship a shot but hated the restrictions set on him. In the end, it was all too much. Both of you begged your families to break off the engagement.
Your teenage years with him were confusing. Were you really in love or those feelings fabricated by the arranged marriage? If the marriage wasn’t a love match anyway, why did it hurt to see Gojo flirt with someone else?
Gojo remembered one of your early confrontations when you were 16 and he was 17.
“It’s difficult to be engaged to you.” you expressed, exasperated.
When you started school at Jujutsu Tech however, something changed. Gojo didn’t want to be seen around you. He was always flirting with others behind your back. You can’t even have a proper conversation with him alone.
During your second year, you finally stood up to him.
“No, it’s not.” he rolled his eyes, “You don’t even have to pretend that you like me.”
It worried you that he definitely couldn’t be faithful and it hurt you that he couldn’t even spare time to properly talk with you.
You sighed and looked left and right. It’s had been ten minutes. You were still standing outside his dorm room and he has not intention of letting you in.
“It’s not about that!” you exclaimed, annoyed, “I know you don’t like being engaged to me, which is fine—“
“It doesn’t sound fine,” he snorts, crossing his arms. He tries to drown the sound of your voice from the surrounding cicadas.
“—if you weren’t such an asshole,” you continued, “But can you at least treat me with more respect. Everybody knows we’re engaged. Neither of us want to be in arranged marriage so all I’m begging you to do is to —“
He shrugs, “No promises.”
He could see anger light beneath your eyes. Out of the darkness of the night, a silver flicker brushes by his side. You were seething, despite being barely illuminated by the light of the corridor bulbs.
You had drawn out a dagger at him. You! His kind, patient fiancee. It happened so fast he almost didn’t dodge.
“I missed on purpose. Don’t you get complacent.” you muttered, turning away.
Gojo was surprised to see tears running down your face. You’ve never looked so upset. It catches him off guard.
“I’m sorry,” was all he had to utter. He wasn’t even sure you heard him because you had already begun walking away. You had drawn the blade, but in reality it was you that was hurting and he the trespasser.
He shakes his head at Ieri and continues, “I don’t want to hurt them again. It was bad enough when our engagement fell apart.”
He didn’t mean to hurt you then of course. It was harsh to expect commitment out of a teenager who wasn’t ready, but you were still in pain.
Ieri sizes him up in the dim lighting of the diner. Gojo likes to be in control. He likes to be the one to set traps. It’s interesting to see him be the captive for once.
“You haven’t answered my question.” she presses.
Gojo’s fingers tense up.he gives in just a bit, “I’ll always be a little in love with them. Maybe because I was obligated to for so long.”
“And that’s not enough though, because they deserve more” he quickly adds.
“Can’t you change? Sounds like you’re afraid to try.” she sighs.
Gojo is quiet once again.
“Don’t wait for them to be in love with someone else before you realize that you want to be with them. I’d hate for you to be too late.” she warns, glancing towards you as you walk back to the table.
He looks away from Ieri. You sit back down in front of him.
He feels his heart swell and hurt at the same time. You’ve always represented a jumble of contradictions for him: someone to love and someone who represents traditions he hates.
“Did I miss something?” you ask, sensing the tension.
“No, nothing.” he denies, his voice purposely lightening to cover his mood.
“Well, why does everyone look so serious?” you perkily ask.
Gojo briefly glances at you. His shoulders relax and he sits back into his seat. After all these years, it’s still so easy to be swayed by your bright eyes.
“I was just about to call for another drink.” Ieri clears her throat.
“Me, too.” he adds.
You look at him carefully, a tinge of worry in your eyes. You don’t say anything though. Not now. This is between you and him. It’s a matter outside of your friendship with Ieri.
“You can have my drink.” you offer to him, eyes locked onto his.
Sensing your stare, he turns back at you, glad that his bandages cover his vulnerability. He’s not sure he can take it if you saw how deeply conflicted he was about his feelings. As he continues to look, recognition dawns on him.
In another universe, you could be married right now. You’d be having dinner, just the two of you, sitting across each other like this. In another world, maybe you wouldn’t have known each other at all. This moment feels like purgatory. He’s somewhat in love, just a little and you’re not his in a way that feels real.
You push your drink into his hands. Ieri looks away to give you a semblance of privacy. Gojo finally takes the drink.
It feels strange for the man who has everything, to know he only has a little bit of you.

Minerva isn't sure she can protect Remus Lupin any longer now a student has been injured the night of the full moon. Especially when Walburga Black is demanding repercussions for her son, after what was clearly a Werewolf attack. Sirius Black, however, tells a very different story.
Lupine Lawlessness
“This is outrageous!” Walburga Black immediately rounds on Minerva the moment the woman strides into the Hospital Wing, her voluminous robes billowing behind her.
Minerva notices Mrs Black barely spares her injured son in the bed a glance. She also notices how the boy slightly shrinks in on himself as he hears her voice. Then, Mrs Black is standing in front of her, and all her attention is directed at being on the receiving end of Walburga Black’s fury.
“I knew you and that old fool would be the ruin of this school. It’s one thing that the place is infested with Halfbloods and Mudbloods, but harbouring a Dark Creature?”
“Mrs Black,” Minerva says politely. “I understand this must be very distressing for you as a mother, and I’m very sorry indeed, but we are yet to establish what happened.”
“Do you take me for a fool?” Mrs Black spits. “That type of claw marks, on which Healing Magic has no effect, while yesterday was a full moon? It’s very clear what has attacked him, and that thing had no business being on school grounds.”
Minerva herself has put two and two together as well. It was easier for her, as she’s aware there’s a student infected with Lycanthropy attending Hogwarts. A student who also happens to have been a close friend of Sirius Black.
Oh, she had really thought they were going to pull it off. They had come so far. She had been sceptical at first. A Lycanthrope attending seven years of Hogwarts without any incidents, without anyone finding out? It appeared unlikely, but she had agreed to try. And then she met Remus Lupin, and she had been very glad she did so. The boy was sweet, modest, hardworking and clever, and he deserved to have a proper education, but also to be around peers, make friends, and have fun. Now, when she had really started to believe it was going to be alright, the worst had happened. A student had been attacked.
It’s not difficult to reason out what must’ve happened. Sirius Black must’ve seen his friend disappear into the tunnel below the Whomping Willow, and had decided to go after him, only to end up face-to-face with a full-grown werewolf.
Minerva’s first reaction had been relief. Relief that Sirius Black was going to be okay. Some nasty injuries that would leave some nasty scars, but no permanent damage, which is quite a miracle. It could’ve been much, much worse.
But relief had quickly been replaced with worry. While the headmaster and herself can get in serious trouble for allowing a Lycanthrope in the vicinity of children, her worry was mostly for Remus Lupin. The world is unfairly cruel to Lycanthropes. Graduated from Hogwarts, with his formidable grades and excellent recommendations from his teachers, the boy would’ve at least had a chance, but being expelled from Hogwarts... His only option might be The Werewolf Camps in the mountains, where Lycanthropes go if they have nowhere else to go, which, regrettably, is often. Stories about those camps make your stomach churn, and it’s not a place for a boy like Remus Lupin to be.
Sirius Black must surely know it was Remus Lupin who did this, and he has every right to be angry. School is supposed to be a safe place, not a place where an unsuspecting student can suddenly be mauled by a Werewolf. Minerva doesn’t know if, or how, she can protect Remus Lupin from the consequences.
“The House of Black is a highly esteemed family,” Mrs Black goes on. “A Black being attacked by such an inferior creature without any repercussions would be an insult to our family name. It’s already a great show of disrespect that you even allowed this to happen, and we do not tolerate disrespect.”
“I truly regret the situation,” Minerva says, hoping to sooth the other woman. “At Hogwarts, any student should be safe from any kind of danger-”
“But this was not just any student or any kind of danger,” Mrs Black interrupts. “This was the Noble Blood of Black being spilled by a filthy monster that should be removed from society!”
“Really, Mrs Black, we are yet to determine-”
Once again, Minerva is interrupted, this time by the arrival of a man.
“Lady Black, my apologies for my tardiness, but I came as you requested,” he says, ignoring Minerva in favour of focusing all his attention on Mrs Black. The man is short, with sharp eyes and a pointy face, and he looks at Mrs Black with reverence.
Mrs Black scoffs. “Quit wasting time then and get to work.”
The man starts opening his briefcase, taking out a quill and parchment.
“What is the meaning of this?” Minerva demands. “Who are you? What business do you have here?”
“Mr Hesner is from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures,” Mrs Black replies. “And he’s here at my request to make a report of the situation.”
The colour drains from Minerva’s face. Being expelled is bad, but nothing compared to an official Ministry report. If a Lycanthrope is reported to have somehow been involved in an attack on a witch or wizard, the Lycanthrope will get the annotation ‘Feral’ in the Registry. All hopes of ever finding a job or a place to live will be lost. The Lycanthrope will have to report at the Ministry at frequent and irregular times, and any failure to report will lead to the Lycanthrope immediately being locked away. The Lycanthrope will be out on the streets without any money or prospects, and even the smallest transgression will lead to being locked up. Almost every Lycanthrope with the ‘Feral’ annotation will be either locked up, or forced to flee to the mountains within a year. Remus Lupin certainly does not deserve such a fate.
“Is... is that really necessary?” Minerva asks.
“Very necessary indeed,” Mr Hesner replies. “If you had any sense of morality, you would’ve contacted us yourself, Ms McGonagall. Luckily, we could count on Mrs Black to do the right thing,” he says, with a grovelling smile in her direction.
“Can you imagine if that beast would’ve bitten him?” Mrs Black shudders. “What a stain on the family tree that would’ve been, to have a Lycanthrope in the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black!”
To make sure no one will make the mistake of confusing her fear for shame on the Black family name with fear for her son’s well-being, she doesn’t mention that her son might not have survived the bite, or that he would’ve had to live with an extremely painful, chronic condition for the rest of his life. She probably would’ve burnt the boy off the family tree herself, and sent him to go live in the mountains.
“That would’ve been such a waste,” Mr Hesner agrees, before turning to Sirius Black. “Well, young Mr Black, I need an official statement containing your description of the events.”
Sirius Black looks thoughtful for a moment. “I was... attacked. By some kind of creature.”
“Describe the attack please,” Mr Hesner instructs without looking up from his parchment, quill at the ready.
“Oh, the creature was... round.” Mr Hesner’s eyes snap up, but Sirius Black continues. “Like pumpkin-shaped. But huge. Like a huge pumpkin. Only covered in bright yellow feathers. With bulging eyes in between. And two glittering horns on top of its head.”
“You’re treating this like some kind of a joke!” Mr Hesner says accusingly, pointing his quill in Sirius Black’s direction.
“Why, sir,” Sirius Black says, pretending to be shocked. “I protest. I would never!”
“If you can’t be serious...” Mr Hesner says, gritting his teeth.
Sirius Black blinks innocently at him. “Ask anyone, Mr Hesner, and I’m sure they’ll all tell you that I’m always Sirius.”
“I’ve dealt with Magical Creatures for longer than you have lived, boy,” Mr Hesner spits. “And I know such a creature as you described does not exist.”
Sirius Black shrugs. “Who knows what creatures the Forbidden Forest hides?”
“Did the attack meddle with his brain?” Mrs Black demands.
Minerva shakes her head. “Madam Pomfrey has assured me that his mental state is unaltered.”
“So I have to believe he was attacked by a horned ball of yellow feathers?” Mrs Black snarls.
“Who knows what creatures the Forbidden Forrest hides?” Minerva repeats Sirius Black’s exact words. Sirius Black gives her a pleased smile, which she gladly returns.
Mrs Black, on the other hand, gives her a nasty glare, and then switches her attention to Mr Hesner, who shrinks in on himself. “His chest is covered in Werewolf marks the day after a full moon. It’s obvious what happened even without his statement.”
Mr Hesner gulps. “I... I’m sorry, lady Black. I’m not allowed to report an attack without an official statement from the victim. I mean, only if the victim had died I could’ve...” He trails off.
Mrs Black now directs her glare at her son, like she regrets the last isn’t the case. “I’ll make you pay for this.”
Sirius Black becomes even more pale, but he continues to defiantly meet his mother’s gaze.
“I do not tolerate anyone threatening my students,” Minerva speaks.
Mrs Black turns her head to her. “He’s my son. I can do whatever I want when it concerns him.”
Minerva takes a step forward. Her eyes are like stone and her voice is like ice. “Not in my school.”
To her great satisfaction, Mrs Black takes a step back and swallow. She quickly recovers though, and pulls her cloak tighter around herself. She gives Sirius Black a quick glance and hisses “I’ll see you this summer,” before walking out of the room in quick strides, Mr Hesner having to dribble to keep up, her robes billowing behind her in that way only purebloods ever seem to manage.
“Are you quite done?”
Minerva turns around to see Poppy standing behind her, her arms crossed over her chest. “Really, you don’t have to be a professional to know that a recovering patient needs rest, not all this uproar and noise. That goes for you too, Minerva. You might run this school after Albus, but I run the Hospital Wing. Now leave. My patient needs to sleep.”
A few days later, Minerva makes her way over to the Hospital Wing. Sirius Black has had some days to recover, and luckily, his recovery is going well. She hopes he has also been able to process everything that happened.
A difficult conversation still needs to be had.
She’s immensely glad Sirius Black hadn’t wanted to report Remus Lupin at the Ministry, but still, he could’ve been killed, and she can’t imagine he’ll be okay with there being no repercussions at all. She thinks she might be able to talk him out of demanding Remus Lupin to be expelled, and in the best case scenario, she can convince him to keep it quiet.
It’s not that she thinks Sirius Black is in any way cruel or anything like his family, not at all. She has a very high opinion of the boy. It’s just that Lycanthropy prejudice is very strong throughout the Wizarding World. Even the best person has some negative thoughts regarding Werewolves. The sentiment is especially strong among the pureblood community, and Sirius was raised with their norms and values. Regardless, she can’t imagine anyone would be okay with finding out a person they thought they knew is a Lycanthrope. Remus Lupin will definitely have to move out of the boys’ dormitory, maybe even to a private room. No one would be willing to keep sharing a dorm with someone that tried to kill them. Maybe she can-
Minerva stops in her tracks as she reaches the Hospital Wing, all thoughts of appeasing Sirius Black disappearing from her head.
Sirius Black isn’t alone. Remus Lupin is with him. Like actually with him on the bed. Remus Lupin is curled up at Sirius Black’s side, his hands gripping Sirius Black’s robes and his head resting on Sirius Black’s chest. Sirius Black has one arm firmly wrapped around Remus Lupin, and with his other hand he’s gently threading his fingers through Remus Lupin’s hair. The boys haven’t noticed her presence.
“I am so, so, so sorry,” Remus says, and probably not for the first time.
Sirius rolls his eyes. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“I did it.”
“You can’t control it.”
“I could’ve stayed away from you,” Remus argues. “I can control that. A filthy monster that should be removed from society.”
Sirius huffs. “That’s just a bunch of pureblood bollocks only stuck-up twats with half a brain still living in the Middle Ages actually believe.”
“Your mother thinks so.”
“I rest my case.”
Remus chuckles and presses his face closer to Sirius’ chest. “I can barely believe you’re real. I don’t deserve you.”
“Moony,” Sirius says with a sigh. “I told you, The Wolf wasn’t even trying to hurt The Dog. You weren’t feral! The Wolf wanted to play, and didn’t know his own strength, and kind of forgot dogs aren’t as strong as Werewolves. Even transformed, you never meant to hurt me.”
The Dog? An absurd thought enters Minerva’s mind, a thought that surely sheds a different light on what may have happened. Absurd for sure, but also... plausible? And if anyone can do it...
No. Minerva firmly pushes the thought away. It might be true, or it might not be. Either way, she doesn’t need to know. After all, what you don’t know, you can’t report to The Ministry.
“And even if The Wolf fancied himself some Padfoot for breakfast,” Sirius continues. “I still wouldn’t have blamed you. It’s not you.”
“You’re going to have a scars for the rest of your life,” Remus murmurs against Sirius’ chest.
Sirius gently tilts his head up. “Then it’s a good thing I think scars are sexy,” he says with a wink, making Minerva wonder whether it might be more than just close friendship she’s looking at.
A faint blush spreads across Remus’ cheeks, and he slightly shakes his head. “You can’t accept my apologies that easily.”
“Oh no, Moony. Don’t get ahead of yourself,” Sirius says, tapping his finger fondly against Remus’ nose, which again makes Minerva question their level of intimacy. “I have, in fact, not accepted your apologies, as I refuse to accept an apology for something someone could’ve done nothing about.”
Remus scrunches up his nose. “You’re stubborn as a mule.”
Sirius chuckles. “I could teach mules in stubbornness. But if you insist on making it up to me, I suppose you can help me win the bet.”
“The bet?”
“I’ve made a bet with Prongs that I can make at least half of the Gryffindors believe I was attacked by a pumpkin-shaped yellow feather ball, while Prongs says I won’t even make ten.”
Remus shakes his head. “You’re an idiot,” he says, though it sounds fond.
Sirius grins. “But you love me.”
Remus leans forward and presses a kiss against Sirius’ lips, making Minerva blink, but confirming her doubt. There must be something more between those boys for sure.
Remus pulls back, but gently rests his forehead against Sirius’. “Merlin, I do love you, Sirius Black.”
“I love you too, Remus Lupin.”
Minerva smiles to herself. There’s no need to worry after all. If one thing is stronger than prejudice, it’s love.

Something in the Rain - “A Month Apart, Part 1”
A/N: Hi everyone, thank you for your patience as I whipped out this chapter. I had the initial outline on how this chapter will go but more frequent than none, it changes a lot in the middle while I'm in the writing process. :) I love this story and I hope it just gives you the good feels while reading this. We're two years into this pandemic and the world is still crazy. I hope you're keeping safe and being kind to yourself. :) As always, your comments and suggestions are very much welcome.
A modern day meet cute instance between Jamie and Claire.
AO3  / C1: A Day In June : C2: Definitely, Maybe : C3: So We Meet Again : C4: Friday Lunch : C5: Finding Solid Ground : C6: Situations : C7: Interruptions
XXXXX
After their first date, their schedule for the following two weeks we’re packed - with Jamie settling back in the firm after his 2-week trip from London and Claire’s schedule at the hospital and preparing for her trip to Seattle.
Being a lawyer and a doctor weren’t the most flexible jobs - with patients and clients to attend to, surgeries and hearings to prepare for, plus, with both of them in administrative positions, it is additional work on top of their normal duties. But Claire and Jamie were determined to make it work, so they decided to communicate better, be extra patient and understanding, and really commit whatever available time they had.
The first week, Jamie couldn’t make lunch as he had a court hearing to prepare for and Claire couldn’t make dinner as she was on the night shift. So Jamie, one day, surprised Claire outside the hospital by picking her up, invited her to quick breakfast dates instead, and dropping her off at her house to make sure she got home safe.
The second week was a bit lighter but with Claire going to Seattle on Saturday, she had to do extra administrative work to make sure everything was set for her leave. She offered to have dinner takeaways at her office in the evenings which he happily accepted.
The night before her flight, Claire and Jamie were hanging out in her office, sitting at the sofa, admiring the Edinburgh skyline with a little wine and cheese tray.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t go out” Claire apologized.
“Don’t worry about it, Sassenach.” Jamie turned to Claire and patted her hand. “I honestly would prefer to do anything if it means I get to spend time with you - whether sitting here in your office on a Friday night or sitting in the gallery watching your surgery.”
“You’re too good to me, James” Claire quipped in a feigned dramatic voice.
“Ah, you give me too much credit, Claire. I hope you know that you make an effort too, especially these past two weeks”
“Me? It feels like you’re fitting more to my schedule than I am yours!”
“But you met me during breakfast even though you looked too knackered from yer shift.”
Claire couldn’t deny that and she could just smile with Jamie’s understanding.
“Are you all packed up for tomorrow?” Jamie asked, changing the subject.
“Yes. The weather’s mostly rainy in Seattle so I brought extra items for the wet and cold.”
“And what’s your schedule for the month?”
“Have I not sent you my itinerary? Hold up -” Claire took out her phone and quickly sent an email to Jamie. “There, I sent you my schedule but between teaching and surgery, my time’s the same as here just minus the administrative work, which I tell you not, I’m pretty excited to be free of it for the next month”
Jamie just nodded. The next month.
It’s all rather bad timing if you look at it. The first month, they’ve been rather inseparable with going to lunches almost everyday and weekends at the center. The following month, quick dates and meetings as Jamie was away at London and their crazy schedule at the hospital and the firm. And now, going into the third month since meeting, they’d be completely separated by roughly 4,485 miles.
“Did you hear what I said, Jamie?” Claire asked while waving a hand in front of Jamie’s face.
“I’m sorry, what?” Returning to the present, unaware that his mind has gone away a bit.
Claire gave him a softened look and sat closer to him. “What were you thinking?”
Jamie stayed silent but Claire’s look urged him on.
“Nah, ye’ll think me daft” Jamie said but Claire shook her head.
“Fine” Jamie stretched his arm to pull her closer and she gladly leaned on his shoulder. “I was just thinking about how I’ll not be able to see ye for a month, how much I’ll be missing ye, and how excited I am once ye return here.”
“Oh,” Claire knew the feelings were simple but it’s his words and the way he said it that touched her most.
“I told ye it’s daft.”
“It’s not daft.” Claire tried to mimic Jamie’s accent but they both just have to laugh at her attempt. Turning serious quickly, she took Jamie’s face by the hand and looked deeply into his eyes. “You know that I am going to miss you too.”
Jamie just nodded in agreement, looking at Claire so sweetly and lovingly that she couldn’t help but lean in for a kiss.
Since their first kiss after their date, they hadn’t been shy in showing affection to each other. Nonetheless, it’s all been very respectful to the boundaries to whatever stage they are in their relationship. Hand touches, hugs, pecks and kisses here and there but never really beyond that.
But with her impending departure, Claire seemed to be eager for more. Instead of completely pulling away, she kissed him again some more.
Jamie quickly picked up the signal and allowed himself to pull Claire closer and to his lap. A few minutes later, Claire felt Jamie’s tongue on her lips asking for entrance which she happily obliged. The air around them was electric.
Jamie was first to pull away before the moment got away from them. Claire sighed - not from disappointment, but by the fact of how chivalrous Jamie really is. And she doesn’t really mind it one bit. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
The following day, Jamie picked up Claire to drop her off at the airport. They thought they had time for a quick bite but traffic was so horrendous that they got to the gate just in time before boarding began.
With barely any time left, Jamie pulled Claire to a tight hug as the PA system called her flight. “Go, you’ll miss your plane”
Claire reluctantly released Jamie with a grunt. “Let’s go somewhere when I return”
“Sounds like a plan” Jamie tried to hide the longing in his voice but it was too late.
“The month will be over before you know it, okay? Message me everyday, call me every afternoon when you can” Claire encouraged him. With one last kiss, they bade each other goodbye as she started walking to her gate and Jamie was no longer in sight.
As Claire waited for take off, the silence of a constant message ping on her phone slightly unsettled her. It was then she realized the vast distance between Seattle and Edinburgh. A single tear escaped but she quickly pulled it together. She’s not even gone yet but homesickness hit her right away.
-
So the four-week long distance trial began.
The 8-hour time difference is not too crazy between Seattle and Edinburgh with their available times falling at the start and end of the day. They’ve been coping well with their synced calendars and communication options.
Jamie sends flowers and snacks to Seattle Grace, earning Claire points from the staff for all the treats she’s been giving away.
Claire, on her end, sends late messages to Jamie to wake up to in the morning and asks Mrs. Kim’s Korean Street Food Hub to delivery chicken wings to Jamie every so often.
They’ve also reserved some time on the weekend for extended calls with conversations falling from happenings to their week to what hairstyles and colors they’ve done in the past.
It wasn’t till late in the 3rd week that things started to shake up.
It was a random Thursday evening in rainy Seattle. Between two surgeries and one class, Claire was ready to call it a day. She was settling on her sofa, drinking her tea for a little night cap when her phone pinged. It was 9:30PM Seattle meaning it was 5:30AM Edinburgh, too early for anybody to contact her over there unless it was important.
Grabbing her phone, her notifications show it was from Geillis. It was a link to a tabloid along with a message “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?”
With the link, she can see the preview of the title “Jamie Fraser is off the market!” Curiosity prevailed Claire and she clicked the article

On the other side of the world, Jamie, as always, promptly arrived at the firm. Just as he was to pass Mrs. Fitz, she called him out.
“Ah, lad”
“Yes, Mrs. Fitz?”
“I dinna ken yet what ye or Claire are yet but have ye spoken to her today?”
“Today? Not yet. Why?”
She motioned for him to come round the reception and take a peek at her monitor.
She showed him the same article Geillis sent Claire and as soon Jamie saw the accompanying photo, he fished out his phone and immediately contacted Claire. It was midnight in Seattle but Jamie didn’t care - he wanted to clear things before things got misinterpreted.
“Erm, hello?” a groggy Claire answered the phone on the other side of the line.
“Hi, were ye asleep?” Jamie asked as he walked the hallway to his office.
“I was but I answered already, what’s up?” she replied, her voice still muffled by sleep. She knew why he was calling though but wanted to hear it from him. “Did you just arrive at the firm?”
“Yes,” he replied, closing the door to his office for privacy. “Well, I don’t want to keep you long but an article came last night about me and well, in case ye’ll see it, it is not true.”
Jamie heard Claire sigh on the other end, “I’ve seen it” she confirmed.
“Ye’ve already seen it?” he repeated in disbelief, looking at his watch, it’s only been posted a few hours ago.
“Geillis sent it to me earlier, I think it just came out then. She’s a bit of a morning person so…”
“Claire, it isn’t true. It was all in a bad angle. The Dunsany’s have been a long-time client of ours and we had an unexpected dinner meeting yesterday. I was just escorting their daughter to her car when the paparazzi got wind of us and ran with whatever story they could think of.” Jamie quickly explained in summary.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah. I mean you say it’s not true and I believe you.”
“You don’t have any questions?” he asked, a little baffled.
“Not really. I mean was there more to it?”
“A bit but something we can talk about later.”
“Okay”
It was both refreshing and confusing as to why Claire seemed nonchalant about all this. On one end, she might be really understanding. On the other end, she might be harboring ill-feelings she didn’t want to discuss.
It was Jamie’s line that turned silent. Claire, guessing he might need more despite her sleepy state, obliged him. “Jamie, I won’t lie. I was surprised at first because of the photo and how the article was written with your family histories. Add to that, that I didn’t see it in the calendar and you didn’t text me about it.”
“Why didn’t you call -?”
“But” she interrupted him, “I also know you, Jamie, and I know about us. If I was really concerned, I’ll call you right away. But I’m not and we’ll be meeting later anyway, so I know we’ll talk about it eventually.” she paused to catch a breath. “Besides, you already explained it, I don’t need to know any more because I trust you, Jamie.”
“Okay” it was Jamie’s turn to give the one-word reply.
“Are we okay now?” she asked.
“Yes, as long as ye are too.” Jamie replied to which Claire mummed in agreement. “Thank ye, Claire.”
“You’re welcome. Now, I’ll go back to sleep and see you later.” With that, Claire ended the call, a small smile crept on her face knowing the relief and joy Jamie probably feels right now.

Sweet Creature
A/N: Based on ‘Sweet Creature’ by Harry Styles. I was listening to it earlier today and this idea popped into my head.
Summary: Reader and Tom hit a rough patch and Tom’s not sure how to fix it but he knows he’s not going anywhere.
Warnings: Swearing.
W/C: 2.9K
You’d been with Tom for a while now and like every relationship it’d hit its rough patch. It wasn’t like the first year and a half of your relationship when you’d have a small argument and figured it out before you fell asleep. This was always something you’d made sure you did when you first moved in.
You’d done what most couples did when you felt that small change into chaos rise, you’d ignored it, assuming maybe the other was just tired and not spoken about it.
It presented itself in the way it usually did, your tempers with each other became short and the snapping started. You were both stubborn to a fault and didn’t take the responsibility of apologising.
“Did you really have to snap like that Y/N?” Tom had sighed when he joined you in bed.
“Look, you pissed me off. Sorry okay.” It wasn’t sincere and you both knew it; you were being stubborn. But Tom was more patient than he gave himself credit for and let it go. He knew you were stressed. You’d done the same for him the day prior.
That’s when the next issue would present itself. Tom was a very touchy and loving person, always wanting to present his love through all the affection he could. He always claimed having you in his arms felt like home. You didn’t sleep without his arms around you in some way, shape or form. Until you did. The snapping had ultimately reached a point that had you sleeping annoyed with each other and so, you stopped holding each other.
Then the next step. You’d both had enough and an explosive row had started about absolutely nothing. Neither of you could recall just what it was that started it but it grew into something it wouldn’t normally need to.
“Fuck sake Tom, you’ve really outdone yourself this time.” You’d screamed at him, slamming the washer shut; you were both so angry.
“Like you can fucking talk Y/N. What is this all about?” He’d yelled back at you as you made your way into the living room.
“I don’t know how many times I have to ask you to do simple things. It’s not that hard and you’ve found a million different ways of not doing a single thing today.” You seethed.
“I’m busy! Just because I’m not on set doesn’t mean I don’t have work to do.” He shouted as he slammed his script down on the coffee table.
“Whatever. Leave me to do fucking everything!” You screamed as you slammed the living room door shut, leaving him there with his anger.
That was the night you stopped sharing a bed completely. He took himself into the guest bedroom and you didn’t talk about it. That stubborn streak in both of you taking a firm hold.
After that it was awkward. You avoided each other, not wanting yet another explosive row to take place. You’d had too many over the last couple of weeks and left it you both tired. It was as if you’d forgotten how to communicate properly. Neither knowing what to say to fix it and not wanting to upset the other.
You both felt that distance settle in your chest. You hardly spoke, you didn’t touch and you missed each other in bed. Tom had almost given in one night and as he was about to make his way back into your shared bed, he faltered at the door. Sighing and shaking his head as he made his way back into the guest, well ‘his’ room. He wanted to rip the stubborn streak out of both of you and if it was possible, he would, in a heartbeat.
You’d started to find it unbearable. The distance was becoming too much. You missed him. You’d even take another argument at this point, you just wanted to feel any kind of emotion from him. He’d gone out to visit his parents, mumbling something about ‘needing some air.’ As soon as he left you broke down. You cried, the painful ache in your chest was too much. His side of the bed didn’t smell like him anymore, signalling just how long it’d been since he’d been in there.
You made your way into what had become his room and picked up his hoodie that he’d had on yesterday, you brought it up to your face and let his scent fill your senses. You’d forgotten just how good it was. Tears streamed down your face as you pulled it over your head. You made your way into his bed and let his scent take over everything. You cried for what felt like hours into his pillow.
Tom came back from his parents; he’d had a long chat with his dad about his frustrations. His dad had comforted him saying you’d fix it and find your way back to each other, that you were young and still finding the right way to navigate yourselves and he felt some of his resolve dissolve. He shut the door quietly and took in how quiet it was. He worried for a second that you might have left, but he knew you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t take off without saying anything.
It also confused him that Tess hadn’t come to say ‘hi’, maybe you’d taken her out? Then he heard it and it broke his heart. You were crying. He made his way upstairs and into the room you’d both shared. You weren’t there. He furrowed his brows as he made his way into his new sleeping residence.
There you were and you were crying so hard and so loud, he knew you’d not heard him. The sight made his heart rise and fall at the same time. It was an odd feeling, you had his hoodie on and you were curled up in ‘his’ bed, face planted in ‘his’ pillow and Tess wrapped up with you. She always did comfort you when you were sad, not leaving you for second. Seeing you in his clothing made his heart soar but the pain in your cries made his heart drop, all at once.
He moved towards the bed and made his way into it behind you. He took you into his arms and it seemingly made you cry harder. His heart was aching more than it had over the last few weeks. He missed you, he missed you being in his arms, missed your scent as much as you did his. He knew it wasn’t the end of the two of you, that it was a rough patch but that didn’t make it any easier.
He was glad that he wasn’t due to go away for a while. He realised he needed to fix it, do something. He just didn’t know what. He was somewhat scared to approach it, it had seemingly spiralled out of his control but he would and he was determined to. For now though, he just held you as you cried, feeling his own tears fall.
You still hadn’t spoken about what happened, although you fell asleep like that. The feeling of home slowly making its way back into both your chests. You had to go out that morning and you felt something shift back towards normal when he’d kissed you and told you he loved you before you left. You wished more than anything you could avoid this outing but you couldn’t.
Harrison had decided that he was going to visit that day, texting Tom to ask if he was in. When he got his reply, he made his way to his best friend’s house. He knew something had been off due to Tom’s lack of enthusiasm in their recent conversations and had decided that he needed to lend an ear.
“What’s wrong Tom? You seem off.” Harrison had commented slowly. He got a sigh in response.
“Me and Y/N are fighting. I think. I don’t know.” Tom dragged his hands over his face and sat further back in his chair.
“What do you mean you don’t know? Have you had a row?”
“Yeah but that was like two weeks ago. We just aren’t talking at all really.”
“What was it about?” Harrison was trying to pry the information carefully from his best friend.
“Fuck knows, I can’t remember. It was stupid I know that much.” He sighed again. “We’ve both just been so stressed, we were snapping at each other a lot and I don’t know it just exploded a couple times and now we’re just left with the aftermath.”
“Have you talked about it?”
“No.”
“That’s the problem Tom. You should talk.” Harrison had a stubborn streak to him but it was no where near as bad as Tom’s. It was simpler in his mind.
“We’re both so stubborn Haz, neither of us wanted to bring it up first and I don’t know, be the first to apologise. Fuck, I miss the days when we didn’t let it take over, when we’d made up quickly after an argument.” Tom felt the tears again but he didn’t let them fall.
“Look, I know I’m not as stubborn as you two but the answer is still clear, you need to talk before it gets any worse.” Harrison said as he patted his friend’s back.
“We’re not sharing a bed.” Tom suddenly stated and Harrisons eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“That bad?” Tom just nodded.
“She cried yesterday and it was the first bit of emotion we got from each other in ages.” Tom sighed again as the memories of your cries flooded his mind.
“That’s good right? She’s feeling the same as you?” Harrison asked.
“I guess. But I didn’t know what to say to her. It’s like I don’t know how to fix it. It’s not like either of us did anything worse than the other, we both let our stress get to each other and treated each other poorly as a result. I love her and I know this isn’t the end of us, I can’t imagine being with anyone else at this point Haz but fuck, I don’t know what to do.” He let a few tears fall, quickly wiping them away.
“Do something for her.” Harrison suddenly suggested.
“Like what? What if she doesn’t want me to?”
“Look, even if she doesn’t want you to, it’ll force a conversation. She was crying Tom, I’m sure she does want you to do something, she’ll be just as lost as you. Do something nice for her, make her dinner.”
“I can’t cook Harrison.” Tom reminded him with a soft laugh.
“Call Sam. He’ll tell you what to do. She’ll appreciate the thought.” Harrison comforted him.
“You’re right. I think maybe we just need to remind each other how much we love each other.” Tom sighed.
“Yes, you do. Now stop being so fucking stubborn. Don’t let her slip through your fingers mate. I’ve never seen you so happy with another human being.” Harrison laughed as he clapped his friends back again.
You’d been gone all of the morning and afternoon; it was almost six o clock before you made your way back into the house. You had a little time to clear your head, you were ready for a conversation, you can’t let this continue on. You made your way through the door saying a quick ‘hi’ to Tess as you furrowed your brows.
What was that smell? It smelt amazing and you knew Tom had not inherited the same culinary skills his brother had. Your feet padded into the living room in search of your boyfriend. He wasn’t there but you heard him in the kitchen.
“How do you have the patience for this? Are you sure that’s everything? I don’t need to add anything else?” Tom asked whoever he was talking to. You made your way into the kitchen and were shocked by the sight before you. Tom was cooking, it smelt amazing and you wondered for a second if this was Tom. You cleared your throat and he turned around. He looked at you and gave you a shy smile.
“Sam I Gotta go. Thanks bro. I will.” He said as he ended his phone call.
“Who are you and what have you done with Tom?” You teased lightly and he laughed.
“I can’t take all that much credit. Sam guided me through everything but I made your favourite.” He said shyly. There was still an awkward tension in the air but it was better than yesterdays.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“I did.” He said confidently. You took a moment to scan the room. He’d laid the table as if you were at some fancy restaurant. Your heart soared as you smiled. He’d even bought a bottle of your favourite red wine.
“Oh Tom.” You suddenly sighed, happy tears finding their way to your eyes, a stark contrast from yesterdays. He’d completely taken himself out of his comfort zone to do something nice for you and you couldn’t be more grateful. Whatever it was that was going on between you was slowly dissipating. He smiled sheepishly at you.
“I’m gonna go run a bath, this needs another hour before it’s ready.” He said as he made his way upstairs. You sniffled quietly as your heart felt like it was slowly gluing back together. He returned five minutes later and took your hand in his.
You followed him upstairs as he took you into the bathroom. You slowly undressed, he watched you as you slipped into the tub and smiled. He’d missed seeing you naked. It wasn’t a sexual need that had settled in him. It was that comfort and that trust that you felt at home enough with him to let him see you like this. He followed suit, finding his way behind you.
He wrapped his arms around your shoulders and pulled you into his chest.
“I’m sorry.” He said as you shook your head.
“No I’m sorry Tom. I was being stubborn and I should’ve apologised sooner.”
“We both should have. I love you.” He said as he kissed your shoulder.
“I love you too.”
“I’ve missed you.” He placed a few loving kisses to your neck as you sighed and rolled your head back onto his shoulder.
“I’ve missed you too. So much.” You said as you kissed his cheek. He smiled as he pulled you impossibly closer to him.
“We gonna be okay?” He asked softly.
“Yeah, we’re gonna be okay.” You said confidently.
“Can I come back home?” He said sheepishly. You furrowed your brows as you turned round to face him.
“What do you mean?”
“Back to bed, back in your arms where I should be.” Tears were brimming both your eyes as you looked at each other. Normally, you’d pull him up for being cheesy but you couldn’t, this wasn’t the time. He was being vulnerable.
“Tom.” You sighed as you took his face in your hands, wiping the tear that had slipped down his cheek. “Of course you can. I still love you okay, that hasn’t changed, we just hit a rough patch.” You said as you kissed his forehead.
“I’ll be damned if I ever let my stubbornness take over again.” He sighed as he manoeuvred you back to your original position.
“You will and I will but it’s okay. Couples fight Tom, that’s normal. We’ll frustrate the hell out of each other at times but that’s okay as long as we still love each other. As long as you always come home.” You said as he kissed your shoulder again.
“I’ll always come back to you.” He concluded as he grabbed your shower gel and washed you. You silently cleaned each other up, fixing each other’s hearts as you went. It was loving and sweet and intimate and just what you both needed.
You ate your dinner and wow, it was amazing, you made a mental note to text Sam and thank him for his teaching skills. You cleaned up together and it was playful, normal. Like when you’d first got together. You had music playing softly in the background when your favourite song came on and you remembered your brother’s wedding you had attended six months ago. You and Tom had danced to this and you remembered your brother joking about how the two of you looked like the newlyweds.
Tom reached his hand out to you and you laughed. You’d already passed up one opportunity to tease him, you weren’t going to let this go.
“Do you not think this is a bit like the ending to a Hollywood romance film?”
“I am an actor sweetheart.” He teased back as he laughed.
Nevertheless you took his hand and he pulled you into his chest, you stayed like that in the kitchen. Slowly swaying but just enjoying the comfort of being in each other’s arms. Tom knew that you were it for him, that he wanted you and only you. It didn’t matter where he was in the world, he knew his end goal was always going to be to come home, back to you.

Ch. Twenty Three
⚠WARNING: Mentions of mental health treatment
• ────── ✾ ────── •
Tumblr media
You look up from your phone, glancing at your companions. Kita is resting his head on Aran’s shoulder, his eyes closed. Aran also has his eyes closed. From a quick glance it looks like they’re sleeping but they’re both sitting far too tense. Suna is sitting in his chair, awake. He’s scrolling on his phone but his eyes have a glazed-over look.
Needless to say, you’re all quite worn out.
Your phone pings and you look at the new messages.
Tumblr media
You stand from your seat and walk over to Kita and Aran. They stir immediately, giving away the fact that they weren’t asleep at all.
“My friends are going to stop by with dinner,” you say. “They’re bringing enough for us all, including the Miyas. But I’m not sure if they’ll be down.”
Aran blinks in surprise but Kita stands to dip into a bow. “That is very generous of them, thank you. I have some money that I would like to use to pay.”
“Oh, that’s not necessary!” You wave your hands in front of you. “Please, it will be our treat.” Kita looks like he wants to interrupt so you speak again with a smile. “Please, you are all visitors. It would not be very hospitable for me, so I insist.”
This time Kita is the one who blinks at you. He doesn’t reply right away, so Aran leans around him and gives you a smile. “Thank you, Y/N. I’m sure Kita won’t want to object to your hospitality.”
“No, not at all.” Kita murmurs. But he gives you a small smile before bowing his head again and sitting down. You nod and go back to your seat. Suna still has his eyes on his phone but you hear a small mumble from the side after you sit.
“Thanks.”
You glance at him and nod. Your group falls into a lapse of silence, which again gives your brain ample time to wonder. You can’t stop thinking about Osamu, and hoping that he’s okay. Sure he’s physically okay, especially here in the hospital. But you have no idea what a psychiatric watch entails. Is he alone? Does someone have to sit with him and watch him? Does he have to be restrained?
That idea alone makes your heart throb, and you clench your fists to stop the onslaught of negative thoughts. But it doesn’t stop the image of Osamu sitting alone, tied to the bed and looking petrified.
You physically shake your head. There’s no way he’s alone. His parents went up there ages ago. His mother was not about to leave him alone if she could help it. She was in tears when she met you, clearly relieved at the idea of Osamu having a friend in Sendai. She must have been so worried about him, and so scared that he’d never see him again.
It makes your heart ache for your own parents, but you know it’s just noticeable from being close to this situation. You miss your parents, sure, but you talk to them nearly every other day. You visit them and they visit you. Your relationship is fostered with constant communication and check-ins.
You can only imagine how distant and helpless Osamu’s mother has felt these past few weeks without any contact from Osamu. And how powerless she must have felt when realizing that she couldn’t reach out to him in any way.
Part of it breaks your heart, for both Osamu and for his mother. But another part of you is grateful that you were able to be some support for Osamu when he was truly alone here in Sendai.
“Y/N-chan,” a voice calls out. You turn and see Oikawa, Mattsun and Makki head towards you, all laden with plastic bags filled with food. Makki looks worried, Mattsun stoic, but Oikawa glances around the lobby. You watch him offload his bags to Mattsun before he makes for the reception desk. There, several nurses and staff are glaring at your group - you hope that Oikawa can run interference and make them not hate you enough to kick you out.
“Hey guys,” you greet and stand when Makki and Mattsun get closer. Makki sets his bags down on a chair and immediately pulls you into his arms.
“How are you doing?” He asks.
“I’m okay, just exhausted.” You pull away and turn to Kita, Aran and Suna. “This is one of my best friends Hanamaki Takahiro, and that’s his boyfriend Mattsukawa Issei.” Mattsun looks up from where he’s organizing the take out on a small end table and nods.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Makki says. “I hope our dear Y/N-chan hasn’t been too much trouble for you.”
You elbow Makki for his quip, not missing his smirk. It’s not a full Makki smirk but it’s the start of one.
“On the contrary Y/N has been more than helpful.” Kita says politely. “My name is Kita Shinsuke. This is Aran Ojiro and Suna Rintarou.” Aran waves his hand in greeting while Suna just nods. Kita bows towards Makki. “Thank you for bringing dinner, it is very appreciated.”
“But of course!” Oikawa saunters over and sets down a stack of plates and cutlery. His schmoozing of the hospital staff must have gone better than you thought. “And I am Y/N-chan’s best friend - Oikawa Tooru.”
“Yeah, we met you yesterday.” Aran points out, as if Oikawa genuinely forgot and is not re-introducing himself for attention.
“It’s kind of hard to forget someone like you.” Suna says quietly. Oikawa glows at that, but you’re almost certain Suna meant it as an insult. Before you can say anything Mattsun speaks.
“The food is going to get cold, so let’s eat.”
Everyone murmurs thanks and fills up their plates. There’s plenty to feed them all, plus the Miyas, and give them enough leftovers. Everyone sits down in the chairs and digs in.
You know you should eat but you can’t bring yourself to do anything more than push the food around your plate. Suna, sitting next to you, is in a similar state. Both of your actions don’t go unnoticed by Oikawa.
“Y/N-chan, Stringbean - you need to eat.” He chides.
“Stringbean?” Suna asks flatly.
“Tell me I’m wrong.” Oikawa smiles sweetly, the challenge going unanswered when Suna looks back at his plate.
“Suna-kun, please try to have some food.” Kita’s gentle request carries the cadence of an order, and Suna is quick to comply. You glance at Kita, who gives you a nod. “You too, YN.”
You nod and turn back to your food. You twirl your fork in some noodles and take a bite. Looking back up you see both Oikawa and Kita smiling at you.
It’s quiet for a few more minutes, where you’re able to get some more food in you, when Kita speaks up.
“I just want to thank you all again for bringing dinner. Especially today, I understand that it is a more difficult day than others.” Kita pauses, his face turning somber. “And it goes without saying, but I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Wait, how do you know about that?” Mattsun asks.
“Oikawa informed me of the date last night.” Kita answers.
“Oh.” Mattsun answers. He pokes at his food. “We’re sorry for your loss also.”
Kita nods. “Thank you.” It’s quiet again after that, both groups of friends finishing the food on their plates.
You find it a bit surreal that all the people surrounding you now are similar yet so different. And how crazy your paths have become intertwined purely by chance.
You don’t get much time to ruminate on this thought for long before Osamu’s parents come down into the lobby. You all watch as they walk towards your group, Kita and Aran standing to meet them.
Osamu’s mother holds up her hands. “Osamu is going to be alright.” She looks exhausted but there’s a light in her eyes that wasn’t there before. “His fever broke but they’re going to keep him overnight so he can rest.”
Your group lets out a collective sigh and you feel your heart lighten at the news.
But she’s not done talking. “We spoke with the doctor and she called in a psychiatrist and they recommended that Osamu should stay at an in-patient facility here in Sendai for a month. If his doctors are happy with his progress and he’s happy with his progress, he’ll move back home for out-patient therapy.”
Suna speaks up. “He’s coming home?”
The mom nods with a smile. “Yes, he’s coming home.”
Suna exhales sharply and falls further into his seat. He covers his face with his hands and breathes hard. You can see his shoulders shaking minutely, and watch as Aran ducks down to put an arm around his shoulders. Kita steps up to give Osamu’s mother a hug. He’s speaking to her softly but you can’t make out what he’s saying.
You feel someone come up next to you. “Are you alright?”
You glance and see Oikawa watching Kita and Osamu’s mom hug. You take a second to gauge how you’re actually feeling right now, given everything that has happened to you today.
“I’m relieved,” you answer honestly. “Osamu is okay and he’s going to be okay. But also, I’m proud that he’s taking the necessary steps to help himself.”
“Yeah, but,” Oikawa starts. “He’s going to move away from Sendai. And Hyogo is pretty far…”
He trails off and he gives you a sad look. It takes you a second but when you realize what he’s implying your face hardens.
“Osamu is getting the help he needs, and I’d be a terrible friend if I was anything but supportive of that.”
“I know, I know.” Oikawa quickly replies. “I wasn’t trying to make it seem like you didn’t care about him.”
You smile, feeling the previous irritation melt away. “Thanks Tooru.” You pull your friend into a side hug, and let him squeeze you back. You understand what he was trying to say, but you stand by your words - your feelings are the least important thing right now.
“Y/N?” Osamu’s mom comes up to you and Oikawa. Behind her you see Osamu’s dad being introduced to Mattsun and Makki while getting served food from Aran. But you’re focused on the woman standing in front of you now. “Osamu said he wanted to talk to you, if you wanted.”
You blink in surprise. “What?”
“Visiting hours have ended but the doctors have made a special exception for you - I can take you up to his room but you’ll only be able to talk for 15 minutes.”
“Oh.” You can’t really say more, still completely thrown by what’s happening. Osamu wants to see you, apparently bad enough to warrant special permission.
But what you’re really focusing on is that Osamu wants to see you. That last time you and Osamu were in the same room he was delirious with a fever, and the time before that he was drunk and angry with you.
You’re pretty certain that he’s more coherent now than either previous time, but you’re still caught off guard with his request.
But you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to see him too.
“Okay,” you finally answer. “But I can go up by myself, if you want to sit and get some food.”
The woman blinks before she gives you a smile. It’s so similar to Osamu’s that it makes your heart skip a beat. “I can see why Osamu wants to see you, you’re so sweet.” Your face burns with your blush but Osamu’s mother doesn’t comment on it. “He’s in room 3D - if you run into anyone you can tell them Dr. Yamada gave you permission.”
You nod at her instructions. She gives you another smile and gently pats your shoulder before leaving you to grab food with her husband.
“Will you be okay?” Oikawa asks you quietly.
You don’t hesitate to answer. “Yes, I’ll be fine.” You smile and step away. “I’ll be back soon.”
“Good luck,” Oikawa calls as you walk away. You look over your shoulder and nod, before turning back to the elevators and making your way to the third floor.

A/N: The story is wrapping up quite quickly! Quicker than I want! (Not that I'm upset about the direction we're going in!) Looks like the reader has a (much needed) conversation with Osamu coming up - fingers crossed it goes better than their last conversation!
Can't believe it but the final chapter and epilogue will be posted on Friday! Thank you all so much for reading the story so far, I truly cannot put into words how amazing you all are. I read every single comment and see every single kudo and it makes me so happy and grateful. 💖

HYACINTHE | CHAPTER 4: JAEMIN X READER
SUMMARY:
Na Jaemin is far from being your typical 20 year old. Instead of slaving through college, he wastes away his hours cracking safes. Weekends that should be spent partying with friends consist of illegal races on good days and small scale bombings on bad ones.
Na Jaemin is far from being average, unless you consider being a member of Seoul’s top organized crime family normal. There is no such thing as a sense of normality and peace in his trainwreck of a life, so when he met a barista who was brave enough to call out his dangerous taste in coffee, he was like a moth to the flame. Everything about her is normal, which means she is forbidden to him, in all sense of the word. So why, then, does he always find himself at the front steps of her shop, breaking all his personal rules even if he wishes he could stay away?

"Hi. Can I have one iced americano, no sugar, with an espresso shot, please?"
My hands froze and hovered momentarily on the drink I was preparing as I heard a male voice say that from the counter. I didn't turn around to check who it was, but my boss—who is currently helping me man the cafe today—was quick enough to dash the pit-pattering of my chest. He hooked the order slip on the board in front of me and my eyes immediately raised to read the name there.
"One to-go, americano for Youngho."
I sighed internally. Whether it be from relief or disappointment though, I don't really know. A part of me wanted to be in denial of my emotions, but I realized you can only go so far if the person you are trying to fool is just yourself.
It's been almost three months since that night that I last saw Jaemin. I wish I didn't know the exact number of days that passed since then, but I do and I couldn't help it. Every little detail of what happened was still marked fresh in my mind, especially the feeling of hollowness that exploded in my chest when I woke up that morning to see them gone.
If not for the chip on the edge of the table left by Jeno as he tried to hold a half delirious Haechan down that night, I could have easily brushed off everything as a fleeting dream. But it isn't. It is a nightmare, at least in my part.
He really meant it when he said he would leave me alone.
There were no calls, no messages, no visits, nothing. It was like he didn't exist at all, the past year spent with him nothing but an imagined illusion.
We were back to being strangers again, exactly like how he wants to. If you think about it, it's selfless of him to do this, but I hate it. I hate it with everything I have.
Why? Because now I have to live through the feeling that I'm the only one suffering from all of that has happened. I couldn't watch the news anymore without thinking about him. For heaven's sake, I couldn't even get an iced coffee order without freezing like a statue because I remember him. I hate it. I hate every single moment without him, as much as I didn't want to admit it.
I placed the plastic cover over the finished drink with a soft sigh before turning to hand it over to the customer. At least I can still manage to put out my well-practiced, service smile.
"Iced Americano for Youngho," I called out into the receiving area as I slipped a straw on the cup sleeve. A tall man looked up and walked over to me to receive it.
"Thank you for coming to Brick and Beans. I hope you visit us again soon," I said in autopilot, my words so well-rehearsed that I didn't even have to think through while delivering them. The customer smiled at me before giving me a wink.
"I sure will. Thanks for this, sweet cheeks." He turned and left the shop, leaving me slightly confused.
My attention was then called by my boss who had just finished wiping down the counter. The man—who really has been more of a father figure than an employer for me—gave me a warm smile and motioned me over.
"Can we talk? I have something to tell you."
I briefly glanced at the clock. It isn't my break time yet, but the store is empty so I guess it will be fine. I shrugged.
"Sure."
"Grab a cake for you and me while you're at it," he nodded towards the pastry fridge before walking towards the nearest empty table. I wordlessly took two slices of basque cheesecake, his favorite, before following him. The man has a mean sweet tooth and we both know it.
He was silent for a little bit as he took the fork to take a bite of his treat. I waited patiently for him to speak, hands politely folded over my lap.
"I'm going to sell the cafe."
I blinked and stared. I wasn't expecting that at all.
"You're… what?"
He sighed and leaned back against his seat. He looked a little sad over what he just said but he managed to offer me a small smile.
"I'm getting older. You know how much I love this place because I started it with my late wife, but I really can't continue to manage it anymore. My children, unfortunately, do not have any plans of continuing the business. And they've been asking me to retire, too."
I nodded slowly, taking the news bit by bit.
"Do you already have a buyer, ahjussi?"
"I do. It is kind of strange, actually. Someone offered to buy off the franchise at such a perfect time. And for a very good price, too."
That made me smile. I've had this job ever since I started college so it makes me a little sad that it's going to have a new owner, but I really am happy for him. I just hope whoever buys it off takes care of it really well. The old man loves this place to bits.
I felt him take a hold of my hands from across the table. I looked up and was met with a fatherly smile.
"Don't worry. You won't lose your job. The new owners said that they aren't planning to change anything here and I told them that they had to take you with them."
That made me almost want to burst into tears. I squeezed his hand back in return.
"Ahjussi... You didn't have to do that. I can always look for another job." Who am I kidding? I know it will be hard for me to land another sideline especially with all the financial hiccups I am already dealing with so this is really sending me over to the edge of tears.
"Nonsense. You are part of this business. You've done so much for this place so you deserve this. Don't worry, they said yes to my condition."
I gave his hands another squeeze and he answered back with a fatherly pat.
"Thank you…"
"You're welcome. Just promise me, when you become a doctor, you'll give me free checkups, okay?"
"No, I won't. Because you will always be healthy and won't need my help at all," I said with a wrinkle of my nose.
That sent the two of us laughing.
"When will the new owners take over?"
"By the end of the month," my eyes rounded with surprise and he nodded in understanding. "I know, I know. It really happened too fast. I can't turn down the offer though. To be honest it was way beyond what the business is worth."
I sighed. "Well… as long as you are sure about them."
"I am. For now, I'll be here for a bit with you. I just need to enjoy my last days here. So just don't mind your old man, okay?"
I grinned.
"Only if you promise to give me a free cake every day you are here."
He reached out to ruffle my hair.
"Deal."
----
It was a slow day at the cafe so my boss decided to turn down the jazz music that usually floats from the speakers in lieu of the television volume. It was an odd hour in the afternoon and I found myself smiling as I watched him flip the channels over to look for a good show to watch while I dried some mugs. Just then, the overhead bell on the door dinged, welcoming with it a pair of uni-looking kids.
My boss looked over, but I was quick to jump to action instead. "I'll take care of it," I mouthed to him, to which he gave me a smile before turning his attention back to what he was doing.
"Hi. Welcome to Brick and Beans. What can I offer you today?"
"We'll have one dirty chai latte and one irish coffee over ice. Make it to go. "
The couple offered their names and I nodded as I punched their orders on my POS. "Would you like some pastries to go with that?"
"No, that's all."
"Got it, you can wait over there to the side. I'll have your drinks with you shortly," I said with a smile. The girl pulled the boy over into the receiving area to continue their conversation.
"So what I'm saying is, we gotta go. Tonight is going to be epic. The bets will be high for sure. We can get some mean cash if we put it in the right car."
The other gave a soft snort and started drumming his fingers against the wood of the counter. I let their conversation act as white noise while I worked behind the bar.
"I don't know. You're not even sure who is going to be there."
"Jeno is in the line-up. That at least is confirmed."
I dropped the metal scooper I was using on the floor with a resounding clang.
The three others in the room looked over to me as I hurriedly picked it up with shaking hands. I gave all parties a sheepish look before turning on my back to continue what I was doing.
This time, I was full-on listening.
"If Jeno's going to be there, then it is a goner. There's no chance for others. It'll be full-on suicide," the boy said thoughtfully. The girl, however, shrugged in reply.
"They said the others might come, too. You know, to make the run a little bit more balanced," she offered.
"You mean the seven?"
"The Four, at least."
"Oh shit."
"Uh-huh. So I'm telling you, we gotta be there man. If we can't bet then fine, but we have to see it. It’s been ages since they actually went on lane."
I didn't really know how I managed to finish what I was doing, not with how hard my heart was beating in my chest. I'm not sure how many Jeno's there are in this part of town, but I am sure as hell that there is only one who is a member of a seven-piece 'group.'
"Here's your order," I said thinly as I pushed the finished drinks over to them by the counter. The boy offered his card and I took it quickly, all the while thinking of what I should do next. The few seconds of me typing away at the terminal was the longest quarter minute of my life.
"Here's your receipt. Thank you for coming and see us again," I said, my voice a little weaker than usual. The couple gave a quick bow before turning to leave, drinks in hand.
There are two ways this could go. I could let them out of that door and have my only possible chance of getting in contact with any of the boys leave with them. Or I could call after them and…
I whipped around to call out to my boss, my figure already halfway out from the bar.
"Ahjussi, I'll be back in five minutes, sorry. I promise I'll be quick!"
He had barely looked up when I started running out the door.
-----
"Excuse me!"
The duo looked back at me, then at each other in confusion as I tried my best to hurry up to them without landing on my face. God, why do they walk so fast? They were just a few seconds ahead when they left the shop! Thankfully, they stopped at my call, giving me a chance to skid before them as I tried to catch my breath.
"Um… Is there a problem? We paid, right?" The boy asked me with an odd look. I waved my hand before finally trying to answer.
"Yes. I uh—"
Well, I obviously didn't plan this out clearly. How do I say this now without sounding like a lunatic?
"I heard your conversation earlier. You were talking about Jeno."
The pair exchanged glances again, this time tinged with suspicion. It was the girl who answered this time.
"Yes, we were. What about it?"
"I… I just want—to maybe know where he is? You were talking about tonight's—"
"The drag race?"
I stopped for half a heartbeat before nodding.
"Yeah. The race. I wanted to come, too, but I don't really know the address."
The boy cocked his brow at me in blatant suspicion. It took all of me to pull out all the basics I learned from drama class back in high school to remain calm before his withering glare.
"You know Jeno but don't know the address? That doesn't make any sense," he said as he crossed his arms over his chest. "If you've been in one before you should have been included in the text blast."
Oh shit.
I could feel my palms growing cold from nervousness. Still, I tried pushing on.
"W-well, I was invited before by one of them. But then things fell apart and I started not getting any of the...texts anymore," I said, not having the slightest idea of what I am saying myself. What's ironic though was that what I just blurted out was sort of a half-truth, too.
Apparently—and miraculously—it also made sense by the look of understanding that dawned on their faces.
"I see…" the girl trailed off. She cleared her throat and looked at her friend before glancing at me again.
"Look, I can give you the address, but promise me that you never got it from me when someone asks, okay?" She asked. The boy looked at her incredulously.
"Are you crazy? She was already shadow banned!"
She shushed him and waved her hand off to shut him up. "Look, this is a girl thing. Don't mess with it. Just go ahead to the car, I'll take care of it."
He scoffed but stalked off towards the direction of the parking lot.
She turned towards me again and pulled her phone from the pocket of her leather jacket. I watched as she unlocked the screen before showing it to me.
"Do you have your phone with ya? Here, take a photo of this address."
I swear I could almost kiss her. I scrambled to get my phone from my back pocket and didn't waste another second to take a snap of her screen.
"Thank you so much."
She nodded in understanding before locking her phone again and shoving it into her pocket. "Hey, a girl's gotta stand up for another. Who was it? Was it Haechan?"
"Um…"
She didn't wait for me to finish.
"Really, whoever it is among them, I can't really blame you. They're all cute, but they do need to be taken down a notch when it comes to girls. Those boys," she tsked. "Dangerous."
Oh…
Oh. She thought I was an ex-fling who wanted to teach one of them a lesson by crashing the race. I let that sink in before a frown settled on my features.
Well, aren't you one? The devil on my shoulder cackled at me sardonically.
"Glad to have helped though. But remember, you didn't get it from me, okay?"
With a wink, she strutted off, leaving me staring at her retreating form.
----
I told myself I simply wanted to see him again.
I reminded myself that for the hundredth time tonight as I parked my car on a free space by a gravel road, my eyes roaming the darkness beyond. The place looked deserted, and I had to do one last check if I really put in the right coordinates on my map before finally turning off my engine. The road beyond was wide but uncemented and to its left is a half unfinished building with metal banisters reaching out to the sky like skeletal arms. I swallowed. Every little thing about the space beyond screams danger.
Which probably means I am in the right place.
I reached out to zip up my jacket and pulled the hoodie over my head before getting out of my car. My sneakers crunched on the gravel as I made my way towards a low wall circling the building beyond.
Just try and take a look. You don't have to talk to him. You can keep your distance.
I repeated that in my head again and again as I approached what I assume to be the entrance. A part of me still wants to berate myself for doing this but I am too far gone to try and play the denial game again. I want, no, I need to see Jaemin's world.
The moment I passed through a crack on the wall, it felt like I stepped into a different world. It opened up into an even wider area, the shadows of a multi-lane road behind the abandoned building beyond. Milling around is a throng of people, some smoking, others sipping on red cups on their hands. Some cars were parked against the wall I just passed, their headlights on with music booming out of their rolled down windows.
I tried to swallow the lump on my throat as I looked around. Already, I felt out of place in the crowd, but I steeled myself to push on, my hands digging deeper into the pockets of my jacket.
"Hey."
I looked up to see a boy around my age wave at me. He was also holding a red cup and what looked like a bundle of paper. My eyes widened as that came into focus when he got closer.
Money.
Wads and wads of cash.
"You put your bets already?" He asked as he stuffed the bills into a small belt bag hidden beneath his oversized shirt. He pulled his phone out then, unlocked the screen, and looked at me, waiting for an answer.
"Uh…"
He gave me an odd look.
"Who are you betting on?" He asked again.
I gave the first name I could only think of.
"Ja-Jaemin," I stuttered.
That earned me a low whistle from him as he typed away at his phone, probably to record my choice of 'player.' "I don't know, man. Dude seems pretty out of it lately, but whatever floats your boat." He stuck out his hand to me then, and it took me a few seconds to realize what he was asking for.
"Oh," I scrambled to grab my purse. I was in the middle of pulling my card from my wallet when I saw his face. Slowly, I put it back to reach out for bills instead.
"Cash only."
I sheepishly handed him the last few hundreds I have. He took them, expertly flipping through each bill to count them off.
"First time, eh?"
I nodded.
I watched as he slipped the money into his already overflowing belt bag, thinking that he would leave after that. Instead he nudged his head towards the direction of the building and motioned me along.
"Come on then. At least try and get a good look at your first race."
I blinked in confusion but ran after him as he started walking away.
We stopped at the front row of the half ring of people that had already gathered in front of the abandoned rafters. Just then, a huge spotlight shone over the road behind it, driving everyone to erupt in cheers. Parked in a single line at the foot of the road are five cars, headlights opening one by one.
"Jaemin's the yellow one," the boy nodded towards the one occupying the third lane. I stared. I know next to nothing about cars, but I know enough to be sure that none of the ones in front of me now are something you can buy from your run-of-the-mill auto dealer. Lowered, with shining reams, and a low motor hum that reverberated to where I was standing, I could only briefly compute in my head how much each of those customized rides must have cost.
I heard the boy beside me snort amusedly. "Your first race and you get to see this. I'm telling you, this happens once in a blue moon," he said with a smirk. I didn't say anything, my gaze never leaving the yellow car.
Slowly though, I noticed the crowd's noise die down dramatically the same time that a petite form walked out from the building. The woman stopped in the middle of the road and raised her hand into the night sky, a small pistol in her grasp.
Everyone has gone so quiet now that you could almost hear a needle dropping. Just then, the resounding bang of a gunshot pierced the air. Few other large spotlights turned on simultaneously, revealing the snaking road ahead that was disguised under the darkness earlier. I gasped. The roaring sound of engines blared beyond and with a new uproar from the crowd, the cars were speeding ahead, leaving trails of light in their wake.
My heart was beating so hard against my chest as I tried my best to follow the speeding cars ahead. I was only able to comprehend the real expanse of the road the moment each ride took over its lanes—the place looked more like an abandoned air dock field more than anything else. I was barely aware of my nails digging on the palms of my hands as my eyes switched from Jaemin’s car and the others, particularly on the deep red one that he was currently toe in toe with. The space between the two were a hair’s breadth away and I could almost swear their sides would collide any second.
That went on until a curve on the road appeared. It was the last turn before the finish line and the crowd turned wilder as the nose of each car tried its best to take the lead. I didn’t even realize that I was holding my breath until the last second when the yellow one took over the inner space of the road before swerving successfully ahead.
Everyone around me erupted in cheers. I gave my own gasp, hands covering my lips before joining the rest.
Jaemin’s yellow lambo parked on the finish line, the rest of the race participants trailing behind. I watched as his door opened, revealing his beautiful wide grin and tousled hair. He was glowing, cheeks flushed from the adrenaline. I was so caught up in the image that I barely noticed Jeno appearing from the red car, followed by Renjun, Mark, and Haechan from the other rides.
I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I watched with a smile as they huddled over Jaemin, playfully pushing and cajoling him for his win. They looked happy, carefree.
But it seems like they aren’t the only ones who were out there in the road. My gaze moved back to Jaemin's car when I saw his passenger seat open. As if in slow motion, a girl got out of it, wearing the same wide smile the others have. The group hooted at her as she joined their huddle.
That’s when I felt as if time has stopped.
The smile on my face slowly faded as I watched Jaemin wrap his arms around her before pulling her into a tight hug.

A/N: Hey guys! This is going to be the second to the last chapter of Jaemin’s side story! I originally wanted to finish it in one go, but I thought it would be nice to release the epilogue on Nana’s birthday! So yes, that’ll be out on the 13th, lol. Thank you so much to those who have continued reading this side fic! <3
