i love spending time with my friends but i can't deal with the emptiness that follows after when they go back to their main friend group while i bask in the company of my own thoughts.

I periodically get someone commenting, "I don't like Shattered Glass", or "shattered glass is stupid/dumb/pointless" on my tf SG fancomics.
No other feedback or comments on my work, just a contextless "I don't like the particular neiche of the transformers multiverse you're doing storys for". Sometimes with an added ableist or homophobic insult aimed at me personally, to spice things up XD
Okay...
Like, what do you expect me to say to that?
"Sorry for making a very neiche genre of fanfiction that you, random person on the internet, don't like!"
With around 500+ pages made so far I'm not really going to stop making the series any time soon XD
Don't get me wrong I'm very aware of how neiche the appeal of my work is (particularly as I don't enjoy writing romance stuff). I mainly make it as a hobby/creative outlet. And I definitely appreciate constructive criticism and feedback, like if a plot point in my work doesn't make sense, or if a character is irritating, or if I f**k up a continuity point, or if my sequencial art is unclear etc. It's been really useful to my art evolution over the years as I kinda hate a lot of my older stuff.
But "shattered glass sucks" isn't particularly helpful when it comes to improving my art / writng skills!

JJ has a girlfriend that’s got expensive taste. and it’s not even as if you’re rich or anything. you just have a part time job that allows you to buy shit. sprays, lotions, oils, scrubs, perfumes…you always smell good and feel soft.
JJ got a look at your bathroom and thought he’d walked into a bath and body works. stood there for literally half an hour, just going through all your stuff. opening bottles and sniffing them. even put a little on himself and rubbed it in. made a face as if, yeah, that shit is nice.
came out smelling like lavender and sea salt.
when he walks back to your room, you look up from your phone and make a face. “there you are, thought you’d fallen in.”
JJ just gets back into bed with you, and burrows his face in your neck, looking at whatever you’re scrolling through. it’s a few seconds later that you lean back to look at him.
“did you?” you start, before frowning and sniffing his head.
“did you use my hair spray?”
JJ frowns, “…no.”
“then why do you smell like spring on the sea front?”
“is that what it’s called?”
you hit his arm, “jay that shit cost me $30!”
“what!” he exclaims. “for that tiny bottle?” he shakes his head and goes back to laying on you. “you shoulda told me you wanted that, babe, i’d have just robbed it for you.”

We all know this scene when Puss faces his past lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spoilers
I'll be honest, something was disturbing in this scene when I first saw it. I'm rewatching the scene and trying to put my finger on it. Then it hit me. That Tik Tok comment I saw that said the Lost Souls were acting like the sins from the Bible. The connections people made from this film and toxic masculinity. This scene right here is oozing with toxicity and masculinity.
Before I go any further, I would like to say that I am not down-talking men. I'm analyzing this scene as a Mexican woman.
Anyways, here are some traits in toxic masculinity.
Self-reliance - Men believe they have to do all the work and handle everything by themselves. Independent at all times, they need no one. They believe doing things by themselves will make them successful in life. Being vulnerable will cause the man to be ridiculed. That's Puss throughout the film.
Promiscuous - There's nothing wrong with having sexual relations with others. If it's your thing, it's your thing. But there is such thing as too much of a good thing. Being flirtatious is ok, healthy even, but when it becomes very frequent or an obsession, it can lead to problems in forming long-term romantic relationships. Puss in a nut shell.
Being violent and dominant - Most men believe they have to be strong, physically mostly. So they take risks in life and try to beat others in their own game. Taking risks can be a way to demonstrate dominance. This can include gambling as well. Or dangerous sports. The cause of some of Puss deaths. Not to mention Death pretty much gave Puss a reality check. Puss isn't as strong as he thought he was.
And a big one, refusing to seek help when struggling - self-explanatory. Men try to be emotionless and never seek intimacy with others. Especially with other men as it's seen as a weakness.
All these traits are displayed in this scene. At first, it's fun for Puss because he remembers how much fun he had in his past lives. All the parties, lovers, drinks/food, adventures, risk-taking, everything. But once the adrenaline wears down, Puss knows it's time to leave. But of course, the Lost Souls don't let him. They try their best to convince him to leave Perrito and Kitty and get his lives back. They straight up tell him he doesn't need them and he's better alone. But at this point, Puss already formed a bond with Perrito and is reconnecting with Kitty. He remembers his regrets and this is what makes him determined to go back.
I guess the Souls notice this and start to ridicule Puss for being so vulnerable. Which is something I pointed out already in self-reliance. Men get teased and made fun of if they show even an ounce of vulnerability. Men can't have intimacy with their friends, let alone friends who are men. Men can't be held down by marriage. It sounds over the top but it does happen. I've seen it happen in the past in my household.
Men are also pushed to be physically and emotionally strong. Which is what Puss was trying to do as well. He didn't want to be afraid. He didn't want help and was a lone wolf. He refused to seek help when struggling. Thankfully for him, Perrito was a very determined guy. He followed Puss and helped him become more vulnerable and to open up more. Fixing his relationship with Kitty and becoming fiends.
So yeah, this scene was something alright. Puss was already developing at this point of the film. And then they made him face just how toxic he was being in his past lives. It almost felt like torture for him. But this is an important step in developing into someone better. You have to face your past some time and realize your mistakes so you don't make them again.
Ps, Antonio's voice acting here was incredible. Voicing nine different Puss while making each one unique. From the tone of voice to personality. He deserves some recognition for this scene.

i very much appreciate how Yor, the strongest character, is so feminine
she’s obviously the physically strongest, and arguably the most mentally and/or emotionally strong. what i really appreciate is that this strength and her femininity are complements, instead of the two being treated as mutually exclusive like in many other media.
yor is soft spoken and gentle and kind to others. she feels emotions strongly and cries in front of others and shows her happiness. she has a natural inclination to take care of others. she is good with children, she is great at housekeeping. she may not be good at cooking but by gosh she tries; she wants to get better. she assumes the best in others and finds other women pretty and kind and admires them. she’s family oriented.
yor is also insanely strong. she’s gone through extensive physical training since childhood, has multiple scars, has dealt with all kinds of people. she can kick a moving car, incapacitate a whole cow, take down a whole fleet of assassins, etc, etc. the list goes on. but despite all this and all that she’s been through, she didn’t become a tough, sardonic, mean-lean-killing-machine kind of character.
what i’ve noticed in a lot of media is that there seems to be this kind of tradeoff that people think needs to happen in order for a female character to get “truly strong”. basically feminine = weak and masculine = strong. the character cries? not anymore she will never crack that poker face ever! the character cares for others? psh what no, care for yourself she’s not your maid. homemaking skills? useless, all she needs is the strength of her Fists and Harsh Words. she’s not like other vapid girls, she actually cares about the Real Important Fight which, undoubtedly, is also male-dominated.
of course, all of this is set up as an opportunity for the male love interest to come in and “break down her walls” because women are just waiting for the right man to change them, but i digress.
why? why are the things that are inherently feminine deemed as inferior?
a good example i can think of is cinderella, or to be more specific, an opinion about cinderella that was popular (and may still be, i dont know tbh): she is weak for needing a prince to save her.
lets break this down: this girl gets emotionally, phyiscally, and mentally abused from her childhood into young adulthood by the people who are supposed to care for her. despite all this, she remains kind towards others and attentive in what she does. she seizes what she believes could be her one and only chance at freedom, however fleeting, and ends up catching the attention of the person who is ultimately able to pull her out of her situation.
yes, she didn’t bust herself out of the house and shank the stepfam with her glass shoe. but does this mean she is weak? is that kind of emotional resilience within someone after years of abuse what can truly be categorized as weak?
anyways, all this is to say that yor is built up as the strong one in multiple ways, and the narrative doesn’t act like her nonmasculine qualities are somehow reductive or lesser, and i very much appreciate how rich her character is. i like so many things about this series man im just

After the Titan war, after the dust has settled on the battlefield, a single thought finds itself ever present at the forefront of your brain. A single command that keeps your body moving, keeps your legs running no matter how hard they ache. Keeps your blood pumping and your heart racing. A single mission left, one you can’t fail.
You have to find him.
When Eren screamed, when you lost yourself and became a thoughtless Titan hellbent on following the new founders every command. You lost Levi. You lost your lifeblood. No matter how much you ache, no matter how terribly you just want to collapse— your body just can’t find it in itself to do so. Adrenaline pumping through your veins, pushing you, forcing you to find him. To continue on your desperate search of the barren wasteland. To search through the bodies of fallen comrades. To find your other half. To make sure he’s okay.
The moment you lay eyes on him, the moment you see him resting against that rock, a tear rolling down his cheek, a weight lifts off your shoulders. Your heart stops pounding. The food from your vision clears. Your legs carry your frame to him without thinking. You never have to think when it comes to him. At this point it feels like everything comes too easy. Loving him is easy.
Your hands find his temples, holding him. Letting you know that he is real. That you both still are. Your forehead presses against his own as your legs collapse. Finally safe. Finally with him. Tears swell in your eyes. It’s over, the story has reached its conclusion. You are free.
“You can rest now.”
Your voice is quiet, barely above a whisper. You know he heard it. His arm slumps, muscles relaxing as you finally hold him. As you keep him close. As the two of you make it out of a battle for the final time together. You both live together. All of your hopes and dreams can finally be realised. All of the hardships are worth it just for this, for now. For the present— for a future where you two can grow old, for a future where the two of you can find refuge in each others souls without worry.
A future where happiness is your only worry.

People who engage in the Hetalia fandom while openly disliking the source material and even Himaruya himself sound kinda like hypocrites to me. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but please stay away from me, this kind of mindset truly annoys me and makes me uncomfortable. Am I gatekeeping? No, not really, I just believe that being a fan of something should mean, you know, being a fan and liking the source material at the very least. It should be like, the lowest the bar can get. Below that, there's not being a fan.

I've seen so many people say "Tim should just come out and tell us if we're getting buddie endgame or not" and I'm so incredibly baffled... like, first of all.
what if the show goes on for 5, 10, 15 more seasons? do you think he already knows what's gonna happen? he has to plan for the long run regardless of where we are now, so he might have ideas, but he wouldn't know what he can actually go through with.
second of all. do you guys understand that the point of a TV show is to... well, watch it? cuz why on earth would he spoil one of The Most Debated storylines, especially this early into the show? (early, as in we literally just got confirmed bi Buck two episodes ago and we haven't even touched on the possibility of Eddie's identity being anything other than cishet, up until this point it was truly nothing more than speculation, now canon has turned into a direction where it seems more legit to wonder, but that's all.)
I just don't get it. if Tim tells us that we're not getting buddie endgame, some people will stop watching, if he tells us that we are in fact getting buddie endgame, some people will stop watching and will only join back in when that actually happens.
the anticipation and the speculation is what keeps people around, the fact that we wanna see what happens next on the show — in regards to buddie or otherwise.
even if he knew where he wants to take the story with these two, there's literally no reason for him to tell us in advance and ruin the ratings and spoil something this big for all the people who maybe didn't want it spoiled.
you guys never cease to amaze me, every time I think I saw it all, you come up with something like this. wow.

ngl, the more I think about it, the more I feel conflicted over how people sexualize my characters.
On the one hand, it would be silly to deny that I don't go out of my way to create aesthetically pleasing/attractive characters because I love to draw what I enjoy, and I love it when people simp for them.
But on the other hand, sometimes it does bother me that people are so fixated on sex and their own arousal that they miss important lore/plot information that I get a bit frustrated

ok i'm gonna say this once then i'm gonna let it go
idk if yall know pili on tiktok she has a major following and makes marauders content but tell me why multiple times now i've posted something (or i've seen another creator post something) and then i see her post the exact same thing a couple days or so later.
and like i don't even have nearly as many followers as she does but she HAS liked a couple of my videos so it's not like she doesn't know who i am in some capacity and i know she follows the other people i've seen it happen to.
and obviously like it's like a coincidence if it happens a couple of times some people are gonna come up with the same ideas, it's pretty much inevitable, but it just feels too coincidental for it to have happened multiple times now. and i'm not the only one who's noticed either.
especially when she has so many more followers so she gets more views. like it's fine if u wanna do the same idea but also...if you saw the original say you did?? tag the original creator?
and i get if she didn't see it that's fine but it's been happening way too much lately for me to think it's accidental.
idk. maybe i'm just going crazy. who knows.
ok rant over i'm not gonna bring it up again thanks guys <3

ok, i am currently watching the new hbomberguy video and i got to the part with james somerton, and this is actually painful. i cannot believe how fucking creatively bankrupt someone can be. like, does he even watch or engage with the media he makes video essays for? i can't be sure. if he just regurgitates everything, then wtf does this guy even believe? this is so insane to me. i can't imagine making all these videos copying other people's work verbatim, it's all so empty and soulless.
the thing i love about video essays is seeing what others are passionate about talking about. i guess to me, sharing that enthusiasm (especially if it features good analysis) is so satisfying! it says something about you as a person: what you like, what you notice, and what you feel from art. art that has had a strong personal effect on me is part of how i understand my identity. so i guess there's something nearly uncanny valley about a fucking human content machine spitting out videos featuring nothing but other people's thoughts, opinions and observations. it's all so cynical.
and it's made even more upsetting that this guy is, ultimately, a marginalized person standing on the backs of other marginalized people. profit in the name of "queer analysis." it fucking spits in the face of what the queer community should be - we should be looking out for each other. uplifting one another. you'd have to be a real fucking scumbag to treat others this way.
EDIT: i got further in and uh,,, my question "what is this guy even passionate about," was answered! it's hating women. he's a misogynist. wow. fuck this guy with a brick.
EDIT: WHY WOULD HE MAKE AN ATTACK ON TITAN VIDEO IF HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SPELL "SHONEN." THAT'S NOT EVEN REMOTELY IN HIS WHEELHOUSE FFS IM INSANE \
edit: to follow up on anime not being his wheelhouse, apparently he was gonna make a neon genesis evangelion video (despite as recently as 2 weeks ago saying he'd never seen it and didn't understand the watch order) and a revolutionary girl utena video. thank you, harris, for saving us from this fate. good fucking GRIEF
