The Runaway
(the beginning.)
“Hey, didn’t expect you here.” You spoke softly as you entered the kitchen, placing your clutch down on the island. Dorian was seated with some coffee and his breakfast. You’d just got in from an overnight with one of Kevin’s clients. You smelled of cigars and sex, unpleasant sex. You sighed. “Yeah, your husband asked me to come over..you look a little young to be married to Kevin?”
Tumblr media
You chuckled. “Maybe I like my men older.”
Tumblr media
“Even you can’t say that with a straight face. What is the deal between you two?” You took off your jacket, placing your jacket up on the coat rack. “You ask a lot of questions, Dorian.” He shrugged. “I’m just curious. The other day, the way he treated you wasn’t okay. No man should treat their wife like that.”
You shook your head. “You aren’t married, you wouldn’t understand.”
“Mm, I’ve had my fair share of marriage in the past. I understand the ups and downs of it, but I’ve never treated my wife the way I’ve witnessed Kevin treat you.” You sighed, shaking your head, turning on your heels to leave. “I’m going to shower.”
Truth was, although you didn’t know love and have never felt it. You knew that Dorian was right. But at the same time, there was nothing you could do about it. “Alright. I’m sorry if I offended you.”
You shook your head. “You didn’t offend me at all. What you’re saying is true. But it’s my life Dorian. You see how he is. There’s nothing that can be done, now if you’ll excuse me.”
You exited the room.
“You need to get her talking. Find out where the girls are being hidden, find out about Kevin.” His handler said into his invisible ear piece. Dorian (Jay) clicked his teeth. “I got this.” Finishing the eggs that was on his plate, he stood up wracking the remaining food in the trash, placing the dish in the dishwasher. He made his way down the hallway, to peep around and hide some bugs.
“Um, what’re you doing in here?” You ask him as you walk out the bathroom, naked and drying your hair with the white towel.
He stammered over his words, as his eyes met with your body. “My eyes are up here.” She snaps her fingers. “What’re you doing in my room, Dorian?”
“Im sorry. I didn’t know this was your room, I was coming in here to look for some paper and a pen, your husband’s office was locked.. you don’t share a room with Kevin?” He changes the subject. She looked at him grabbing the underwear that was laid out on the bed placing them on, her breast swung as she moves around. “Um, you mind covering?”
She laughs. “What? You don’t like the show?”
It wasn’t that he didn’t. He did. You were a beautiful woman to him but, he felt like this was.. wrong. Not to mention, you were covered in scars, bruises and some bite marks that were months or years old and it made him angry. He didn’t know why but it did. You had a small abrasion on her neck from when a John shoved you and you fell on the ground a few nights ago. “No, it’s not that.. just don’t think I should be seeing you like this.”
She chuckled. “Pretty much all of my husband’s entourage has seen me naked, more ways then one. I’m sure sooner or later, you will too.”
“What do you mean?” you sigh, grabbing a tank top out the drawer leaning against the dresser, your natural curls lying on your shoulders. “Doesn’t matter. I’ll open my husbands office and get the items you need.” Dorian sat on the bed. “That’s irrelevant right now, what happened there?” He pointed to the bite mark on your shoulder bone. “My husband likes to bite during sex. It’s nothing.”
Dorian laugh. “What he some kind of carnivore or something?”
You laugh and smile, shaking your head. “.. he’s something.” You smiled. “You mind leaving my room now?” He nods standing up, he slightly bowed his head, walking out the room. She walked behind him, she smiled, before closing the door and locking it. He let out a sharp exhale as he leaned against the door. He was almost.. caught.
“My husband won’t be flying in tonight, he says you’re more than welcome to stay in the guest house out back and his sister will be accompanying us so you won’t become handsy.” You said walking into the room.
Dorian (Jay) looked over at you. “Oh no, it’s all right. I’ll be okay going home. But, you going to be all right here? It’s supposed to be a big thunder storm tonight.” You smile. “It’s okay. I’m a big girl.” Dorian stood to his feet to leave, when you grabbed his hand. “Hey, wait, where are you going?” He looked down at you as he towered over you. “Home.” You slightly tap his chest. “No need for that. I’m making dinner. Stuffed Chicken breast, asparagus and mashed potatoes. So, stay for dinner and then you can leave.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Hey, it’s the least I can do for you helping me the other night.”
“It wasn’t your fault you spilled that drink, Y/n. Speaking of, how’s your foot?”
You lean on your tippy toes. “It’s good, still sore but, I’m good.” You swayed away from him, starting on dinner. “Can I uh.. can I help?” You turned around only to be met with him, close. Body to body. Your hand touching his chest. “Oh uh.. no, but you can set the table for three- well four.”
“Who's the fourth?”
You didn’t answer. “You never answered my question, you know. I asked why you and Kevin weren’t sharing a room?” Dorian grabbed his second phone from inside his jacket. Texting Hailey that he wouldn’t be home tonight. She was responding but then left him on read. He just shoved his phone back in his pocket, knowing he disappointed her, yet again. But he figured she was out all night with Voight- like always.
“Kevin likes his space sometimes. So do I.” You answered not going into detail.
He nods. “Understandable, but separate bedrooms?” You walk over pouring yourself a tall glass of white wine. “Why are you so interested in my marriage? If you tryna fuck me just say that, it’ll cost you but, we can go in the bedroom right now.” You shrugged. Dorian frowned. “Huh?”
“I mean, come on.. I see the way you look at me. And almost all of my husband’s people have done with they want with me.. but for some reason, you’re the only one my husband hasn’t had me sleep with so, I’ll take my chances this time. I could use the cash.” Truth was, you were still trying to leave Kevin. You had been saving up all the extra money where and there for jons hoping that you could find some way to leave him without being harmed in the process.
Dorian laughs. “I don’t want to sleep with you, Y/n.” You furrowed your brows. “What do you mean? You don’t find me appealing?”
“It’s not that, I just- I’m not one of those men.”
You smiled. “Good to know. But all men are the same and all men want the same.” You shrugged, when the door opened and in came in Tonya, her red curls bounced. “What’s going on in here?” She looked at the two who were just inches away from each other talking as the food cooked. “Just talking.” Dorian smiled down at you then over at Tonya.
“About?”
Your smile faded. You knew Tonya deeply cared about you, she was the one who helped you escape her brother several times but, it wasn’t exactly easy. “Just dinner and I wanted to know his role.”
“Now you know my brother doesn’t allow his men to discuss business with you. Doesn’t matter how good you are in bed, they aren’t that stupid.” Tonya shook her head running her tongue over her rosy pink lips. “I’m aware of that, Tonya. Was that even necessary?” Tonya folded her arms. “Yes. Stop asking questions, I don’t want to see you hurt like last time. Ok?” Dorian raised an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t allow that.”
Tonya laughs. “You’re sweet but, stay out of this one and keep your hands to yourself. Okay, pretty boy?”
“Okay.” Dorian stepped back from you.
Tumblr media
You shook your head at Tonya. “We were just talking.”
“And what happened to the last man you were ‘just talking’ to? Hmm?” You sighed and nodded your head, going back to cooking. You felt yourself becoming upset so you walked away, going to your room. “Tonya, man, what’s with the hostility? She and I were just talking, getting to know each other. After all, I’m in and out of her home.” Tonya stirred the mashed potatoes, looking over at Dorian. “Dorian, I actually like you. For some odd reason, I do. My brother is no saint. And he may not treat her right at all but he’s obsessed with her and very possessive when it comes to her. I just don’t want her hurt or you killed for any little thing that could be construed and taken out of context.”
Dorian shook his head. “He’s not here. She and I can be friends, Tonya. I don’t want to sleep with her.”
“We have company tonight. My brother got a new girl and he wants your opinion.” Dorian raised an eyebrow. “My opinion? Why mine? I’m just a weapons guy.” She shrugged. “I don’t know, all I know is.. he wants you to take the girl for a test run.” Dorian shook his head. “I’m not sleeping with some random woman.”
Tonya folds her arms. “You are, and it’s not a option. It’s an order.”

-As Halstead-
Jay sighed heavily walking out of the home, his eyes locked with Yours as you watched him leave from the upstairs window, he buttoned up his shirt and shook his head. He didn’t sleep with the girl but made her pretend that he did. He couldn’t find himself wanting to do this job any more, the way things were done. This wasn’t what he was supposed to be doing. You smiled a tight-lipped smile as you looked down at you, tapping your hand slightly on the window.
He waved slightly.
Jay liked you. You had this innocence about you. You had this aroma that made him desire you. You were sweet, scared and damaged. You were broken, but you still managed to smile through the constant pain inflicted on you. He could hear Tonya yelling for her through the cracked window. He nodded at you, walking off getting in his undercover vehicle, driving to the hotel he was staying at during his undercover op. He sat in the garage parking lot for a minute just thinking about the op, you. And all what this entailed.
“Hello?”
He looked at the screen as Hailey answered, she was seated on their couch, propped up with a glass of wine in her hand. “Hailey..”
“Hey, Jay.”
He smiled. “What’re you doing?” She rubbed her eyes. “Just going over a case.” He nods, rubbing his shoulders. “You seem tired. I miss you.” Hailey was dry, to say the least but yet that’s how their relationship has been for months. He hated it. She changed. He didn’t like it but he put up with it because he loved her. “I am tired, Jay. Can we actually talk about this some other time? I’m just.. this case is important.”
“Hailey, you realize every time we talk you always rushing to get off the phone?!”
Hailey rubbed her forehead. “Jay, I don’t have time to argue with you. I’m busy just like you’re busy. If you would actually come home, you’d see that.” Jay clenched his jawline. “Hailey. You know I can’t just come home. I’m undercover. This is major for me. This man is a major player in the human trafficking and smuggling industry. I have to be smart about this. I could put you in danger if I were to come home. He has people watching me.”
“I-It’s fine Jay. I get it.” She fanned her hand.
He sighed deeply when their was a knock at his hotel room door. “I gotta go, Hailey. I love you.”
“Love you too, Halstead.”
He shook his head hanging up the FaceTime, hiding the phone. He grabbed his gun out the nightstand, making his way towards the door. Only two people knew this was his hotel. Tonya, and his handler. He swung the door open with the gun pointed. “Y/n.”
“Hi..” You pushed your way inside.
He closed the door behind him walking over and sticking the gun back where it was. “Y/n, what’re you doing here? How’d you even find out this is where I stay?”
Tumblr media
“Overheard you telling Tonya. How was things with Miss.Sinclair?” You mouth off, sitting herself on the edge of his bed, crossing her leg over the other. “I don’t think that’s your business.. I should only be telling your husband that- why are you here?” you didn’t answer, she rubbed her hand over the bed, then glanced over at him. “You answer my question and I’ll answer yours.”
He shrugged. “It was alright.” You chuckled. “So, she wasn’t good?” He rubbed the back of his neck. “She was but, it just wasn’t me. I don’t like being pressured into doing something.” you fiddled with your coat’s strap. “Okay, well is she gonna be good for business?” He frowned. “I thought you didn’t handle your husband’s affairs?”
“The women, I do. I mean, it’s not like I want to. I have no choice. My husband puts me over them. He makes sure I find out if the men are satisfied, give the girls a few pointers in the bedroom and when it comes to hygiene, properly taking care of themselves.. I don’t pimp them out, I just ask the questions or join them.” you shrug. “You're saying that as if it's no big deal when it is.”
You shrugged. “Dorian. This is my life, okay? Kevin took me from the streets when I was just a baby. This is all I am and all I know. So spare me the guilt trips or the judgements.”
He walked closer to her. “What do you mean?”
“I got what I came for. I’ll be leaving now.” You made your way towards the door when he grabbed your hand. “Answer me.” You looked down at his hand linked in yours, then up at him. You’d had men be sweet and kind to you before, you’ve even had some obsessed with you. Promising to help you escape Kevin but what would it be like outside of him? And why was Dorian the one man you were feeling something you never felt before.. about. “No.” With that, you walked out. He rubbed the back of his neck, rushing over to his computer. He grabbed his phone dialing his handler.
He uploaded a photo he snuck of you sending it to his handler. “I just sent you a photo, run me everything you can on her.”

You had just gotten out of your car across the street from the side of Med and, as you were making your way through the bit of road that led to the hospital, a car comes into the driveway — screeching tires, in full speed — and runs you over long before you could even see anything and, there, in the matter of a few seconds, everything goes black and you’re left bleeding out in the street.
Almost an hour later, after you had regained consciousness and had begun dragging yourself, very slowly, towards the hospital, Will and Ethan, about to go inside Med, spot you and run your way eager to help you out — even if they hadn’t known it was you at first.
“Oh man, it’s Dr. (y/n) (y/l/n)!” Ethan exclaimed.
“(y/n), can you hear me?!?” You sort of heard Will ask through your dizziness haze.
“Wow, you’re actually shorter this up close than I had imagined at first.” You attempted a joke with your friend, momentarily gaining some clarity.
Ignoring you, Will just asked no one specifically, “oh Lord, how long has she been bleeding out here?”
Decisive as always, you heard as Dr. Choi commanded, “I don’t know but, come on, Will, let’s carry her to the ED!”
As soon as your friends get inside the hospital with you, everybody stays in shock for a moment until Maggie yells: "get her in treatment 4, now!"
Following her lead, Will and Ethan get started on treating you, who has a few broken ribs, and free fluid in your belly besides from a punctured spleen. Having done their best in the ED, they decide to send your upstairs for surgery with Crocket.
Once you're going to surgery, Miss Goodwin tells Maggie and the doctors to call PD and specifically ask for Intelligence, since you were friends with the unit. As the cops get there, one stands out: Jay Halstead. He's frantic, devastated-looking, just completely lost, and desperate to hear more news about your condition. No one really understands why he is reacting like that, but all of them do share the fear of losing a great friend. Voight's giving out assignments to the team, so Jay knows that that's when he needs to speak up.
"Um, sarge?" All eyes are on him. "If you and the team don't mind running one man short today... I was hoping that I could, um, stay here with- with her?" Hank just stares at him, unlike everyone else — who are shocked — the older man's focus is on his detective's eyes, on the way he was so distraught from the moment they got the call about (y/l/n). That was the behavior, the look, of a terrified man. And, as everyone there knew, Jay Halstead — the freaking war vet — wasn't one to get scared easily. "(y/n) and I-"
"It's fine. No need to explain. You should stay here, Jay. Let us know, in case anything changes. And we'll catch the son of a bitch." He said firmly, making Jay feel as appreciative as ever, and, also, sending an implicit message to all the other members of the unit, one that said: we work this with all we got right now, for (y/n), and for Jay, no questions asked.
After the officers left the hospital, there was still a big commotion from everyone who stayed, because it was one of their own up there in the or. But, surpassing everyone else's, was Will's surprise by how distraught Jay looked, especially considering how his little brother wanted to stay at the hospital, instead of going to find who hurt you. So he comes to confront the detective about it. "So... You and (y/n) are a thing?" Will asked, trying to understand. Since Jay just nodded his head, he decided to push a little further: "And... Were you ever planning to tell me? What the hell, man?"
"Will, I-"
"She's one of my best friends, Jay! Not to mention the fact that I'm the doctor who oversees her work here!"
"Will you put it down?" Jay pleaded with his brother, motioning him to a more reserved corner of the waiting room. "I know, okay? I know. And I'm sorry if it upsets you, man, I really am. But this could've blown her career. That's why we hadn't told you yet." It was clear that Will didn't exactly like his brother's explanation, but he knew it was true.
"Just... How long?"
"Um, about six months?"
"Six months?!" The doctor yelled in shock, then repeated it in a lower tone. "But, six months?"
"Yeah, I know it's a lot of time keeping you in the dark, Will. But, trust me, we weren't thrilled about it. And we were hoping to tell you soon. I swear." Jay said, and his brother could, once again, see it was the truth.
"So, that means that when you started seeing each other she was still finishing med school?"
"Yeah, that's right. Which was, like, the main reason for us to keep it under wraps. An intern dating the attending doctor's little brother? Wouldn't look good."
"That's true..." At that point, Will took another look at his brother. Jay looked so worried and scared, even while trying to hide it. "So, uh, you guys are serious?" That question got a little smile out of the detective.
"Yes, we are. I know that it is new for you... But, I love her, Will. I really do." He took a moment to breathe, not being able to hold back some tears this time. “And, I can’t lose her. I just can’t.”
“Jay…” Will started saying but didn’t quite know how to continue. What could he possibly say to comfort his brother right now? “We just… We just gotta stay hopeful, okay? (y/n) is a really tough person and Dr. Marcel is a great surgeon, you know it. She is gonna pull through.”
A lot of disquieting hours later Crocket finally comes out of the surgery, just to be met by a very worried hospital staff and an on-edge Jay Halstead.
"Where is sh- How is she? Is (y/n) okay? Can I see her?" The detective hovers, not even taking a breath.
"Wow! Uh, you gotta calm down a little, buddy."
"Don't give me that crap! Just- just tell me how she is!" Jay shouts again, not giving a damn about what anyone was thinking. You were the only thing on his mind right now.
"Alright. But try to keep breathing, okay?" To that, the other man didn't even bother to answer. "Okay, um, it was a very complicated surgery, I had to do a lot of cleaning and moving around to get to the worst parts and-"
"Can you please just cut to the part where you tell me if she's okay? No offense, but you can fill me in on the details later." Jay stated nervously. It wasn't just that he wanted to know what was the result of all those hours in the or, but, also, because Jay knew he wouldn't understand half of what Connor was saying, even with the simplified language. You would. But not him.
"Right. Okay. She's, um, she's okay for now. We'll need to monitor her on an hourly basis, though." By that point, the surgeon could already see the relief on both Halsteads' faces, so he went on. "We controlled the bleeding, but, with all the blood loss," he stopped to take another look at the detective, "I'm afraid," another pause, because, sure he had delivered this kind of news before, but this time it was a lot harder, because those people were his friends. And, what they had just lost, he had just lost too, in a way, "we couldn't save the baby."
"The baby?" This time he got an answer from both brothers.
"Uh, uh... You, uh, you didn't know she was pregnant?" Crocket asked, kind of already guessing the answer while sharing a look with Will.
"Oh my God..." It was all the youngest Halstead managed to let out. Seeing how his brother was unable to react any further, Will decided to step up and ask the tough questions.
"So, um,  if everything goes well from now on, you think that (y/n/n) will make a full recovery?"
"Ahhh, yes, actually. She was in great health, so, after making it through, uh, through the night, she shouldn't have any major issues." At that point, Marcel himself was trying to be as objective and as doctorish as possible, in order not to make things worse for the man who had just heard that he lost a child he didn't even have a chance to wait for.
"So, is it, um- is it possible that she didn't know about the pregnancy yet?" But, damn it, Will just kept asking all the impossible questions.
"Uh... It is, actually. Very possible." Hearing that, the detective immediately glued his eyes on him. "We estimate that the fetus was about seven weeks. It's very common that women on birth control haven't found out about it at that point." As neither Halstead said anything, Marcel continued, "well, she's up in the ICU now and in and out of consciousness but, if you want, you can see her for a few minutes."
Hearing that, the detective came out of his haze and said: "Yeah, I wanna see her!"
A few hours later, as Will Halstead gathered his things after finishing his shift, he decided to go check on you but got surprised when he realized that his brother was still there, in the waiting room. "Jay, what are you still doing here?"
"I'm waiting," he said simply.
"Jay." Will called again, "you can't do this, you need to go home, get some sleep, eat…"
"I'm not leaving her alone."
"She's not gonna be alone, Jay." Not getting any response, Will decided to lead with something else. "You know, Voight called Goodwin and said that they're hitting a lot of walls in the (y/l/n) investigation…" Measuring his brother's reaction, Will continued: "Maybe they'd have better luck working with the whole team…"
"Yeah, you're probably right. Tomorrow I'll tell Voight that I want in on the investigation." Jay said, not making any sign of wanting to leave.
"Jay, you can't work tomorrow after staying here the whole night!" Seeing his little brother still not intending to leave, he threatened, "if you don't go home right now, I'll call Voight myself and tell him that you're in no shape to work-"
"Oh, c'mon! You're gonna do that!"
"I wouldn't be so sure if I were you," Will said, looking as serious as they get. "Look, Jay, you know she's in good hands here. And, whatever happens, you'll be the first to know, I've made sure of it."
"But-"
"But nothing, Jay! It's time to go, come on!" Will pressed so much that Jay resigned himself to do as his brother told him.
For almost a week, you stayed in the ICU. For almost a week, Jay Halstead passed by Med on his way to work and on his way home from work.
Once you were moved to a room, Jay started feeling like he could finally breathe again, even though there was now the baby that someone had still to tell you. And, after chatting with Will and Crockett, Jay had already decided he was gonna be the one to deliver the news to you. So, one day, after Intelligence had already caught the drug dealers that were running away when they hit you, Jay asked Voight for the afternoon off to take you home from the hospital.
When you were at your place, you asked Jay what was going on: "Hey, you didn't say a word on the way here, is anything besides the fact that I just spent almost two weeks in the hospital and that everyone found out about us wrong?"
"Let's sit down for a minute, babe."
The minute he said that, you knew there was something really wrong.
"Okay, you're scaring me…" You said while sitting down on the couch.
"I just- I have something important to tell you," and, like that, Jay proceeded to tell you the worst thing you ever heard. It's not like you'd been planning on becoming a mother or anything like that anytime soon but it was still a possibility that was brutally taken away… You and Jay cried together for the first time and, consoling each other, you felt your relationship growing stronger.
So much so that after some time you could start talking about the future that both of you foresaw with one another and, even though nothing was completely decided, there was one thing you knew for sure: as long as you were together, you could face anything.

Saw you in the Jay Halstead x Reader tag! I was hoping you could do one where Jay is dating a black belt, and he keeps forgetting she can take care of herself bc she's been training for many years. Maybe she gets kidnapped, but escapes on her own? Thank you if you do! No problem if you don't! Have a good day 😊 💛

you picked the wrong girl- Jay halstead x reader
AN: well, I’m back… sorry I’ve been gone for so long guys. But I hope you enjoy this, and If you’ve read fics from me before. I hope you like the change in writing style.. I’d love to hear what you think (I did write the at 1am tho and didn’t proofread)
trigger warnings: Angst, Assault, kidnapping, mention of endo
**
“yeah jay i’ll come over when i finish my shift tomorrow” you held your phone up to your ear, bag on the opposite shoulder as you left your apartment building.
“alright babe. be safe okay?” Jay, your boyfriend of 3 years spoke through the phone. A smile on your face as you thought of seeing him after your shift at firehouse 51.
“you too” you smiled before ending the call, shoving your phone into your back pocket as you began walking to your car. You and jay had met while serving in afghanistan yet had reconnected almost 6 years later after you started working back in chicago and got a job at firehouse 51 through your friend clark and everyone at 51 has quickly become your family.
As you approached your car you scrolled through your phone looking to message your best friend Gabriella Dawson to let her know you’re on your way to work. The two of you usually spend the start of your shift gossiping, it’s something you’ve grown to love. Especially when it comes to girl talks in a firehouse full of men. God just the memories of the boys faces—specifically cruz— when they walk in on a conversation about something they don’t want to know makes you laugh. Like the time you had cruz walk in on you talking to gabby about the horrendous side affects of your condition Endometriosis. Which you only got diagnosed with two years ago, and luckily it wasn’t completely debilitating for you as it was for a lot of women.
When you’d been diagnosed you were terrified of telling anyone, even Jay. But after hundreds of conversations with Gabby and Jay—who were both unapologetically supportive—it no longer bothered you and you’d come to the conclusion you’d rather talk about it and educate people on the subject rather than hide from it.
Shooting Gabby a quick text that read: ‘On way now. Got so much to tell you about the CPD party’
You smiled to yourself watching the three dots pop up signifying gabby was messaging you back. You and Gabby had almost no shame when it came to your conversations, so much so that you were sure you knew more about Gabby and Casey’s sex life than Casey did himself, and vice versa for Gabby and Jay. You knew Gabby had something to tell you too as she’d insinuated as such on the phone last night. And boy, did you have something to tell her too. The sex you’d had with Jay after that CPD party had been extraordinary, easily in your top 5 sexual experience—all of which had been with Jay. He was amazing, and with the strain and pain endometriosis puts on a woman’s sex life Jay had been so understanding and patient. He’d made sex something unimaginable.
‘Can’t wait. I have news too. 🫢’ Gabby replied. You smile as you reach your car pocketing your phone and pulling out your car keys. Just as you go to press the button on your keys to unlock your car what feels like a violent slam of bricks hits your head. Pain slices through your body, shaking your bones, starting from your skull and travelling all the way down to your toes. the pain is sharp, cold. So cold that black dots dance across your vision. You can’t process anything, every thought, every instinct you have fails under the pulsing pain in your skull as everything turns black.
Pain shatters the darkness enveloping you, cold air hitting the wetness coating your hair sending a shiver down your spine. Fear claws at you, digging into your flesh, pulling and tugging at your stomach acid just as the hands are. The hands? Pain and panic interlock as everything clicks. Hands. Gripping your waist dragging you across a stony path. Darkness, not the same as before, not the dark pain that had taken you hostage but the sun leaving you, leaving you vulnerable with your captor.
It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. Yet, when they do adrenaline takes ahold of you. Forcing the old you, the soldier to take over. Power floods your veins as soon as your eyes meet the evil ones of your kidnapper.
Where’s jay? Does anyone even know you’re gone? How long have you been gone?
Questions you won’t let linger stab you. And your limbs fill with strength, adrenaline. You pull your elbow back before forcing it into your captors ribs with every ounce of strength you can, ignoring the pain, ignoring everything. You refuse to be a photo on Intelligence’s evidence board.
Your captor grunts, weakening his grip on your as he stumbles unprepared. He quickly recovers, lunging forward aiming to take you down with his fists. You don’t let him. Your lungs clench, heart pounding as if a stampede lives beneath your ribs as everything you’ve been taught everything you’ve learnt and everything that’s ever made you feel powerful rushes through your veins. Army training, Boxing, karate, kickboxing.
You dodge his attempted assault and quickly throw a balled fist toward his jaw, and it connects with enough force to break a knuckle. You move quickly, precise like you’ve got forever to calculate his next move. But you don’t. It’s the adrenaline, rushes through your veins giving you enough energy for the final push. With another firm punch he stumbles, and in the next moment you land a hard kick to his most precious area. He falls, losing his balance and stumbling with a pained groan.
Run. You barely process your next movements as your legs carry you, each step shakier than the last as you take your chance, sprinting away. Your lungs burn, your skin igniting against the harsh chicago wind. You don’t even know where you are but you keep running, running, hoping to find something familiar. Some landmark, somewhere you know, someone you know.
Your body weakens, you feel as if you’re your legs will fail at any moment as you push on. The wind brushing against your tear stained cheeks leaving a chill in its wake.
95th and Trent. The familiar street sends the final wave of adrenaline through your body. You don’t stop running, you can’t. Not until your safe. You don’t know how long you’ve been running for, how long you’ve been missing. But when you reach the familiar 21st district it almost feels as if your heart stopped. Racing up the front steps you barrel through the door. Panicked, irrational, exhausted.
Trudy Platts panicked eyes meet yours and a wave of comfort makes your eyes well up. She rushes out from behind her desk ordering a officer away, “Get Halstead. And call a damn Ambulance and 51. Tell em we’ve got her.” She bites out before rushing towards you and taking you into her arms.
As soon as the warmth that is trudy Platt touches you, your heart cracks. Almost loud enough your worried it could’ve been heard from miles away. Tears poor from your eyes and you clutch onto her uniform as the adrenaline dissipates.
“Baby” A distraught familiar voice takes you by the hands guiding you home. His arms, his smell. You’re home, you’re safe. Jay takes you in his arms, tightly. Letting all of his worry and anger seep from him in the form of your touch.
“Are you okay? Y/n, I was trying to find you. I was gonna find you baby.” He whispers as your claw at his muscular frame. “You’re safe, I’ve got you” he whispers, his voice only causing the crack in your chest to grow. A crack that only he can fix, now that you’re home.

Daddy to the Rescue
Request: hi
i was wondering if you could please write about Kelly Severide (chicago fire) having a daughter and maybe while he was at the station she is left with a babysitter but then he has to respond to a call at his house. maybe the reader is stuck so she and kelly are freaking out but he knows he has to stay calm for his daughter and once everyone is safe it is just a bunch of fluff.
totally your choice and maybe the reader is like 5 - 6 ish
Pairings: Kelly Severide x Daughter!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, hospitals, buried alive, inaccurate medical talk
Masterlist
A/N: I know you said fluff but if you know me and my fics you know I have to throw in some angst in there. Hope you don't mind.
Tumblr media
When you came into Kelly’s life 6 years ago, he was shocked but it was to be expected especially with all the sleeping around he did. You had shown up on his doorstep in your car seat with a note pinned to the diaper bag. He didn't know what to do but when you opened your blue eyes, the ones you got from him, he knew that you were gonna stay and that was it. After first he was apprehensive about telling his team but he needed all the help he could get and the fears he thought he was gonna have of them bashing him and putting him down flew out the window. Afterall Firehouse 51 was a family and family looked out for one another. With him telling them about you means you just got a lot of really cool aunts and uncles and you are going to be really protected.
He was really pissed at your mother for just abandoning you but now you were with him safe and sound. You were the result of a drunken one-night stand, he didn’t even know you existed or that she was pregnant until you just showed up on his doorstep. He despised her and would have some words for her if he ever saw her and he hoped for her sake that he never saw her.
You loved your dad dearly. When you had met him just when you were a few days old you grew close to him, then again, he was the only parent you had. You depended on him for everything and looked up to him for everything and you felt like you could come to him when something went wrong when you were growing up. You had changed his lifestyle for the good he had stopped drinking until he was blacked out and he stopped bringing random women home. He adored you and you adored him. Nothing could break that bond between you both. Everyone was shocked when they noticed how much his mood had brightened and he wasn’t such a hard ass. Kelly loved showing you off and when you found out his job, he just became your favorite person all over again. He was your hero.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
It was a Thursday morning and his alarm started to go off at 7:30 AM signaling him to get up and start getting ready for the day and his shift. Normally he would be getting you up to but since your school had been called off due to the heating and sickness going around you would be staying home. He didn’t have to go into work until 10 AM so he would have a little bit of time with you.
Kelly took a shower and then got dressed in his uniform and brushed his teeth, next he moved out of his room and down the hall to check in on you. He slowly opened the door and smiled seeing that you were still sound asleep and snoring just slightly. He smiled and shook his head. He went into the kitchen and started some breakfast and coffee and then went and switched over the laundry and started getting ready for his 24 hr shift. He needed to call Kimber Halstead to tell her that he would need her. When he found you on his doorstep, he immediately started to look for a babysitter and when Jay and Will, his good friends, heard about this and met you they immediately got him in touch with their younger sister, who he was also good friends with. You and Kimber hit off and the rest was history and she became your babysitter and she only babysat you. She was going to school so it was the perfect opportunity for some extra cash and you were pretty easy to keep. He pulled out his phone as he pulled down a coffee cup and grabbed the pot and poured some coffee in it. He went to her contact and clicked on it and then the call icon, it rang twice before she answered.
“Kelly! What do I owe the pleasure of this call?” Kimber asked
“Hello, Kimber. I need you to watch Y/N/N. Her school is closed due to some sickness and the heat is out.” He said and took a sip of his coffee.
“I would love to.” She said “Do you want me to come over now?” She asked
“Please. I’m gonna have breakfast ready so you can eat here.” He said and he could hear her smile.
“That sounds good. I’ll be over in 5.” She said
“Great. I’ll see you soon.” Kelly said
“See ya, Kelly.” She said and they hung up the phone.
He put his phone on the counter and then his coffee cup and headed to your room. He opened the door and saw that you had turned over in your sleep and he walked over and knelt down by your bed. He watched you for a minute and then he was stroking your head. You groaned and but your nose scrunched up, a sign you were waking up. “Y/N/N. Sweetheart. It’s time to get up. Kimber will be here soon.” He said and you groaned but blinked your eyes open and cracked them.
“Daddy?” You asked and he smiled.
“Good morning, Sweetheart.” He said and you smiled and then wrapped your arms around him and he picked you up. He started to walk to the kitchen.
“What about school?” You asked, still confused and you laid your head on his shoulder.
“School is closed due to a heating issue and sickness going around.” He said and you nodded and then he sat you down on a chair. “Kimber will be here soon and breakfast is almost ready.” He said and you nodded. Normally he would be having you getting ready for school but since there wasn’t any, he would let it pass and Kimber would be getting you ready for the day. He had just got done mixing the pancake batter when there was a knock at the door and he knew it was Kimber. “You wanna get that?” He asked you and you smiled, you rarely got to open the door but he knew who it was because it was about that time when she said she was going to be there and the Ring notification he got on his phone. You quickly jumped up and ran to the door “Be careful!” He yelled out and listened to you open the door and let out a screech.
“KIMBER!” You yelled out and he heard a laugh from her.
“Hey, Sweetie.” She said “Your daddy know you answered the door?” She asked and he could just see you nod.
“Yes, he let me!” You said excitedly and she chuckled.
“Well, as long as he said it was ok.” She said and she was walking into the kitchen holding you.
“Hi, Kelly.” She said with a smile and he looked up.
“Hi. Breakfast is almost ready.” He said as he flipped the bacon and the pancake.
“Y/N/N, you wanna help me get cups and drinks ready?” She said and you nodded wildly and they both laughed. You love helping out when you can. She walked over and got the glasses and handed them to you and they watched you carefully take them over to the table. Kimber got the milk and orange juice out as Kelly took the last of the pancakes and the bacon off and walked them over to the table. Everyone sat down and served themselves.
“What do you girls have planned today?” Kelly asked and Kimber answered since your mouth was full.
“If it is warm enough, we’ll go play in the backyard and then maybe go out for lunch. Then just play it by ear.” She said and you nodded excitedly.
“That sounds fun.” He said
“It is, Daddy!” You said and he smiled. Breakfast was finished quickly and dishes were put in the dishwasher and Kelly had disappeared to grab his duffle and walked out and just stood in the doorway watching you and Kimber have the time of your life in the living room. You were the first one to notice him “Daddy!” You yelled out and quickly ran up to him and jumped into his arms and hugged you tightly. Kimber walked over and then took you from his arms.
“It’s time for daddy to leave. You be good for Kimber and do what she says.” He said and you nodded.
“I promise, Daddy.” You said and he smiled and leaned over to kiss your head and then pulled away and looked at Kimber.
“Don’t hesitate to call if something happens or you need me. If you can’t get ahold of me, you can call Jay and he’ll know how to get ahold of me.” Kelly said and she nodded.
“Don’t worry. I’ll call you if something happens and I also have Will if something medical comes up but I will let you know.” She said and he smiled and nodded.
“I know you will. I trust you.” He said and then looked back at you. “Daddy loves you.” He said to you and kissed your head again.
“I love you too, Daddy.” You said and he smiled and then grabbed his keys by the front door and was out the door and heading into work.
“Alright, Little One. What do you want to do first?” She asked, looking at you.
“Blanket fort!” You said excitedly and she laughed.
“You got it!” She said back. She sat you down and the both of you set out to find the materials you needed.
20 minutes later and the fort was ready to be used. Your imagination ran wild and Kimber was all for it. Movies were watched and crafts were made in that fort. During the 5th movie you had fallen asleep snuggled up against Kimber and she pulled out her phone and read through some college stuff she needed to read and every now and then checked in on you. She figured she would let you sleep for an hour and then have you get up and get your teeth brushed and dressed then you would go out for lunch and a walk in the park maybe stop in and see your dad. Then you both would come home and play some in the backyard.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Kelly was exhausted since he had gotten to work. It was nonstop calls; he hadn't even had a break to sit down and check on you and Kimber. Everyone had just gotten back and quickly got the trucks and ambulance done and then they were going to try and have a moment of peace. While everyone was preoccupied, he stepped away and pulled out his phone. He had a few new messages from Kimber and they were pictures of you smiling and goofing around, he smiled and saved them on his phone. One particular one, you were playing with bubbles and she captured the image through the bubble and you were smiling and just being yourself, he set it as his background on his phone when he unlocked it.
He was about to call and ask how you two were doing when he heard a familiar voice “Sylvie!” You yelled out and he smiled.
“Hey, Y/N. Looking for your dad?” She asked
“Uh huh.” You said and he walked out into the garage and when you spotted him you ran straight to him and jumped into his arms. “Daddy!” You shouted and he laughed and hugged you gently but tightly back.
“Hey, Sweetheart. I'm surprised to see you.” He said and you just hugged him tighter and everyone smiled glad to see him happy but continued on with working so you could have some time with him.
“She really wanted to see her daddy and I told her we could. It was on the way home from lunch and the park.” Kimber said he smiled and nodded and then sat you down.
“Did you have fun?” He asked
“Yes! We saw a bunch of dogs at the park and most of them were friendly and I got to pet them.” You said with so much brightness in your eyes. He smiled loving that look.
“That sounds like fun. Did you ask permission first?” He asked and you nodded.
“Of course, Daddy.” You said and he smiled. You and Kimber stayed there for a few minutes until it was time to go home and start getting your school work done. “Bye, Daddy. I love you.” You said and he smiled. He hugged and kissed the side of your head.
“I love you too. Be safe.” He said and you nodded and then he and Kimber said their goodbyes and he watched you walk out of the station almost skipping and he could tell you were laughing and smiling and that made him smile.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
You made it back home safely and Kimber let you dad know. She put her phone away and then turned to you “Ok, I want you to do your homework and then we can go outside and play.” She said in a serious tone and you nodded.
“Ok.” You said and then you went and got your backpack and started your work. While you were working, she was working on some of her college work, every now and then you would ask her for help and she helped you. You got what you needed done quickly and then you both were heading outside. Kimber had brought her school work outside so she could work and watch you at the same time.
Every now and then you would come over and ask her to play and she did and then when you were done, she went back to work. Sometimes she would look up and smile at you having fun. “Y/N, come inside with me to get something to drink.” She said and you looked up from your position in the sand box and got up and headed inside with her. “Do you want a snack?” She asked and you nodded your head.
“Do we have any grapes and apples?” You asked and she smiled and nodded.
“Why yes, we do! I want you to drink something you’ve been running around a lot, don't want you dehydrated.” She said and you nodded and drank some water and ate something and then she brought the rest out with you both. You resumed your position back into the sandbox not seeing that it had sunken in. You were too busy playing to notice that you were starting to sink into the ground. You continued on playing and then you felt a huge drop and that freaked you out.
“Kimber.” You said scared and she looked up and her eyes bugged out.
“Hold on, Sweetie. I’m coming.” She said and hurried over as the chair tipped backwards.
“I’m scared. I want daddy.” You said beginning to panic.
“It’s ok Y/N/N. We’re going to get you out.” She said and she motioned you to grab her hands and you did but when she began to pull you yelped out in pain and she stopped and you slipped in further and that made you panic and panicking only made you sink deeper. “Don’t panic. It’ll only make it worse. I’m gonna call 911. Ok?” She asked and you nodded your head.
“911 what’s your emergency?” The 911 operator asked.
“Hi, my name is Kimber Halstead and I’m babysitting Y/N Severide at 251 Spiral Lane and she is stuck in a sandbox.” Kimber said
“How old is Y/N?” They asked
“She’s 6. I tried to pull her out but she just sank further down. She then began panicking and sank further.” She said
“It sounds like she is in a sinkhole. Keep her calm and don’t make her panic, it’ll just make her sink further.” They said
“Kimber, I can’t breathe.” You said
“Did she just say she can’t breathe?” They asked
“Yes.” Kimber said
“Ok, keep her calm and I have dispatched the nearest first responders.” They said
“Thank you.” Kimber said and turned to look at you.
“Did you hear that? Daddy is coming to the rescue.” Kimber said, trying to keep you calm.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Kelly, Otis, Stella, Sylvie, Gabby, and Herrmann had all sat down to relax and watch some TV and grab something to eat when the bell went off and they groaned but then Kelly turned rigid.
“Engine 51, Truck 81, Rescue Squad 3, Ambulance 61.  6 year old female stuck in a sinkhole, having trouble breathing. Location 251 Spiral Lane.”
Everyone looked over at Kelly and they instantly knew who it was and they were quick to grab their gear and get into their vehicles and rush over there. Kelly was silent as he got in “Kelly.” Joe began but Kelly wasn’t hearing him; he was worried about his child.
“She’s going to be ok. We’re 2 minutes out.” Capp said but that didn’t make him feel any better.
True to Capp’s word they arrived at Kelly’s house and he was the first one out. Everyone quickly got their stuff and they followed him through the back gate knowing this path all too well. He left the gate wide open and when he saw you, he wanted to grab you and pull you out and hold you but he needed to stay calm for you. He was quick to come over and when you saw him you cried out to him. “Daddy!” You yelled out and you struggled to reach him but you sank further.
“No, Baby. It’s ok. I’m here.” He said and knelt down and took in his surroundings. He looked at Kimber “What happened?” He asked.
“She was perfectly fine playing in it earlier and then I had her come in and eat and drink something. Then we came back out and she resumed her playing and then she said my name and I looked up from doing some school work and she was sinking.” She said and he nodded, he wasn't mad.
“Daddy, I can’t breathe.” You said and he turned his attention back to you and then to Gabby who was bringing over oxygen.
“Gabby is going to be something over your nose and mouth to help.” He said and you nodded and looked at Gabby and she smiled.
“Hi, Y/N/N.” She said
“Hi.” You wheezed out.
“I’m just gonna put this over your nose and mouth.” She said and you nodded and she did so and air rushed into you.
“Ok, Severide hold her up and watch her. Capp and Cruz start digging. Gabby and Sylvie monitor her vitals. Everyone else start helping out.” Boden said and everyone nodded and got to work. As they were working something happened and you started to slip in further.
“Daddy?” You wheezed out and he soothed you.
“It’s ok, Sweetheart. You’ll be out soon.” He said and you nodded but you started to become light headed.
“I don’t feel good.” You said and then about that time your eyes rolled into the back of your head and you passed out.
“Woah. Ok. Can we go faster?” Sylvie asked and everyone started working faster. 16 minutes later they got you out and onto the stretcher and quickly loaded into the Ambulance as Kelly and Kimber followed.
“Kelly, I’m so sorry.” Kimber said and he shook his head.
“No need to apologize. Accidents happen.” He said and she nodded, still feeling guilty.
“I’m going to meet you up there.” She said and he nodded and then got into the back of the ambulance and nobody argued because you were his kid. They were quick to get going to Med. Kelly heard Sylvie and Gabby talking but he tuned them out and wasn’t listening to him too concerned about you.
They made it to Med in no time and they were quick to get you out and into the ER. Will was the one that was going to be taking care of you. “How long has she been out?” He asked.
“Around 20 minutes now.” Kelly answered and he nodded and helped transfer you to a bed. Will started trying to arouse you but nothing was working. He took a listen to you and heard some crackling in your lungs and grew concerned.
“I want to admit it. Get her some x-rays and get a line started on her.” Will said and Kelly nodded and that is what they did. With you being unconscious and that concerned everyone. X-rays were taken and it turned out that you had broken some ribs from being stuck in the sand and that caused enough pressure to crack some ribs. When they moved you into the room Will looked over at Kelly “I want to monitor until she wakes up and if she does let me know.” He said an IV line had already been started. Will left the room and that just left Kelly alone with you. He sat there looking at you and then he looked down at his phone and saw his lock screen, it was you and him, he was holding you and you had been looking back over his shoulder smiling at the camera when you were 4 and Stella had taken the picture, she smiled at it. He texted everyone an update and they had come in and saw him but they needed back to work. Kimber came and stayed the longest but Kelly sent her home and promised her an update and because she was so shaken up that she needed rest. Will was in and out checking on you but nothing had changed.
It was beginning into the night and he had drifted off to sleep still in uniform. He may have been asleep for about 20 minutes until he heard rustling around and he slowly woke to find you awake and groaning in pain. “Daddy?” You asked groggily and he was quick to get up.
“Sweetheart.” He said and leaned over you “I’m gonna get Will. Ok?” He asked and you nodded and he did just that and Will had come in.
“Hey there, Mini Kelly.” He said and that made everyone smile. Usually, Will was the only one to call you that. “How are you feeling?” He asked.
“Hurts to breathe.” You said and he nodded.
“That’s understandable. You broke some ribs.” He said and you nodded and then turned to address you and your father “I want to keep her overnight just for observation since she was unconscious.” He said and Kelly nodded. You tuned them out since they were using words you didn’t understand and then Will was smiling at you “I’ll see you later on.” He said and you smiled at him.
“Bye, Uncle Will.” You said and he chuckled and left. “Daddy?” You asked and he looked at you.
“Hmmm?” He asked
“Do we have to get rid of the sandbox?” You asked and he smiled sadly.
“Yea we do, Sweetheart.” He said and you nodded.
“Ok. Love you.” You said and he smiled and then you yawned.
“I love you too. Get some sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.” He said as he leaned over and kissed your forehead and you fell back to sleep. He stayed up for the rest of the night and updated everyone. He vowed to himself that the next day he had off he was going to take out that sandbox and fill that hole. He was going to protect you no matter what. Afterall you were his daughter, his life, and his pride of joy.
You were just glad that your daddy came to your rescue.

Are you free Saturday? I know a spot
Those two texts come in rapid succession as you finish cleaning the store up. You’d usually try to avoid checking your phone so often in front of your manager, but by this time you were usually the only one left.
What did you have in mind?
You erase the message in-between organizing the new book shipment.
Saturday? That’s a little too close for me.
You erase that message while balancing the books for that day.
By the time you lock up the store and head home, you had thought up a couple million ways to respond before erasing them. Putting your key in the lock and you finally respond with a simple Yes.
Your next thought was right before you slid into bed for the night. Where the hell is your dress?
Specifically, your little black one that showed off all of your curves. The one that was probably lonely from being unused for so many years.
Having split from your husband over a year ago and trying to start fresh back in Chicago, you were worrying yourself into a spiral. You hadn’t been on a date since you were 22 and you were feeling out of place, getting back into the dating scene at 29.
You and your ex had grown apart from the moment your marriage started. You had done everything you could to keep everything together. You—being the one who made more money—had bought a big house. One that had room for you two to grow a family and have a backyard for a dog. It felt right at the time, maybe it would be enough so the walls didn’t seem like they were closing in.
You and your ex had been fine. But that’s all you were…fine. You finally convinced him to do therapy with you and, unfortunately, the final straw for you was when you realized that he loved you more at 23, then at 27.
You had filed for divorce not long after that. He claimed he hadn’t seen it coming, and fought you for the house. You gave into it, wanting him to just sign the papers and be done with it. In the end, when you signed your lease back in your home city of Chicago you finally checked the box “divorced.”
It had been quite the change, getting used to being back in the city. You contacted one of your oldest friends, Kelly Severide, to hang out and catch up.
It was at one of those meet ups that you met Kelly’s girlfriend, Stella Kidd, and the two of you hit it off instantly.
Now a year later, Stella and Kelly were getting ready to get married, and you voiced your thoughts to them about dating again. Stella said that she had a friend who was your type.
You had no idea what that meant, but after a few failed attempts at signing up for one of those awful dating apps, you gave Stella permission for her to give her friend your number.
The day after the first two texts were sent, he texted you again saying: Great! I’ll pick you up at 7.
You remembered at 22 being a little more cautious about a man picking you up for a date, but you trusted Kelly and Stella so you tried trusting this guy too.
It was hard, everything you’ve ever known about dating, relationships, and love had been ruined with the breakdown of your marriage. Now you wished it wasn’t affecting your thoughts this long after.
So is it any wonder that it’s 6:52 on Saturday and you’re trying to reassure yourself by saying you got this during your last looks in the mirror.
“You’ll be fine,” Kelly was saying over the speakerphone as you contemplated taking a shot to calm your nerves, “Do you think we don’t have your best interest at heart?”
“Kelly,” you say plainly, “It’s been years since I’ve been on a date. I’m gonna look so stupid stumbling over myself and what if he brings up my marriage? You told him about that right? How do I fucking do this? Is it wrong if I take a shot of something?”
“Stella,” you hear Kelly call from his end, obviously feeling like he needed backup, “she’s freaking out.”
“Yes I am.” You almost growl in confirmation, “I blame you both for this. What was I thinking?”
“Relax, girl,” Stella’s voice says over the line in a reassuring tone, “I got you. Look, I’ve known Jay for a while okay, and I’m sure you’ll charm the socks off of him.”
“Oh god,” you say, slapping a hand to your forehead almost dramatically, “I know he’s too good to be true. What have you done, Stella.”
“Breathe, Y/N,” Kelly says, his voice clear and unyielding.
There was a knock on the door. You jump slightly, looking up at the clock on the stove. 7:00 on the dot.
You curse, telling Kelly and Stella that he was there. They told you to have fun and they’ll call you later for details before immediately hanging up on you.
Cursing your friends once more, you open the door, and your breath lapses. You were going to kill Stella for understating his looks by saying he was “good-looking”.
He was much more than good-looking. He was gorgeous. His dark hair was cut evenly. His eyes were a mix of blue and green and freckles littered across his features. He was dressed for a date, his outfit lining the structures of his body. You feel slightly better about choosing your black dress for this, you may even want to wake up tomorrow with it on a floor that isn’t yours.
I’m ready, you tell yourself in your head.
And for the first time since this whole thing started, you believe it.

“Don’t,” Y/N warns Jay, knowing what he’s about to say as he takes her, a small smile making its way onto his handsome face.
“I wasn’t going to say or do anything,” he says defending himself.
She gives him a look reminding him that she knows him better than anyone else.
“I was just going to say you look incredible,” he says as he continues to take her in. She’s wearing the little black dress that she bought for her cousin’s wedding for their undercover operation.
With the smile still on his face and all the love he has for her in his eyes, he stands and moves closer to her. He places his hands on her hips as he leans in, kissing below her ear before he whispers. “And about how quickly I can get this dress off you later tonight.”

MINI SERIES MASTERLIST || JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Part 2
Tumblr media
You pulled your jacket tighter around you, ducking into the apartment building quickly to get out of the wind. Winters in Chicago were seriously brutal.
As you turned to close the door behind you, the door was stopped with a forceful bang as someone put his hand against the glass to stop it, the sound making you jump.
You exhaled, blinking back at the person.
He had a black cap on, almost covering his eyes, his scarf was pulled up almost to his nose, and his other hand was jammed tight into his pocket.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. Cold night, didn’t wanna have to dig around for my keys.” His voice was smooth and clipped.
You didn’t say anything, just gave a small polite smile before you headed back up. By the time you crossed the threshold into Jay’s apartment, the encounter had already been forgotten, your eyes falling on the pizza boxes on the table.
“Finally. I’m starving.” Jay complained, his head already leaning on the back of his couch as he angled his head to look at you.
You rolled your eyes at him. “Sorry, the meeting took a lot longer than I expected.”
Jay just pulled himself off the couch and headed towards the table.
“I was supposed to pay for dinner.” You told him, glancing up to look straight at him.
Jay rolled his eyes. “Just shut up and eat.” He answered, grabbing a slice of pizza and taking a bite off it.
You’d been crashing at Jay’s apartment for a while, partly because he had a spare room and partly because he’d found out about the problem with your previous apartment and had bullied you into staying.
But you also knew the real reason why you’d been hesitant to move in.
Maybe things would have been much easier if you weren’t in love with your best friend. But it wasn’t like you had much of a choice in the matter. You’d almost called Will instead, since you'd known the brothers forever, but you felt like you’d be encroaching too much on Will’s space considering he only had the one bedroom he slept in.
So you found yourself here, sitting across from Jay, munching on pizza that he hadn’t even let you pay for considering you were freeloading at his house.
“What?”Jay asked, his eyes narrowing at you.
You shrugged. “Thinking of a gift, plotting your murder, you’ll never know Halstead.”
Jay rolled his eyes and you laughed, hiding everything else behind it. Just another normal night with your best friend.
Tumblr media
You woke up the next morning with a pounding headache.
Your first instinct was to blame Jay for the extra bottle of beer he’d handed to you the previous night, but when you sat up and swung your legs off the bed, logic found its way to you and you knew two bottles of beer would definitely not give you a hangover.
Trying to ignore the pounding, you got up to go to the kitchen for a glass of water.
The house was quiet, which meant Jay had already left, so you pulled open the drawer, grimacing when you realized you’d forgotten to refill the aspirin.
With a sigh, you closed the drawer again. The pounding had somewhat subsided but not totally. You were glad that at least you didn’t have any meetings today. Today was supposed to be writing day which worked out because you could take things at your own pace.
Throwing on some clothes that were a bit more decent, you headed for the door, locking Jay’s door behind you before you froze.
“Jay?”
Jay was standing about two doors down, next to Kevin, looking into his neighbor's house with that expression you called his detective face. That’s when you saw the yellow crime scene tape right across the doorway and registered that Jay had his police vest on.
“Y/N, I didn’t think you were still…” Jay paused when he turned to look at you. “You okay?”
You shook your head. “Migraine, I think. But we’re out of aspirin. I’m just gonna…” You pointed.
Kevin gave Jay a nod and he stepped towards you. “Bad?” He put his hand on your forehead gently and you were acutely aware that Kevin was watching.
“No fever. Do you want me to make the run?” Jay asked, keeping his voice low.
“Detective Halstead, focus.” You teased gently, trying to hide the fact that your heartbeat had picked up. “What are you doing here? Everything okay?”
Jay glanced behind him. “Yeah, we need to interview everyone on the floor anyway so why don’t you go back in and I’ll be in shortly.”
“Can you interview me?” You asked, an eyebrow raising.
Jay let out a short laugh. “You’re a witness, Y/N. Not a suspect. Get back in there, and lie down. I’ll be right there.”
You rolled your eyes at him for fussing over a migraine but you were also secretly glad you didn’t have to go all the way to the store.
By the time Jay came back into his apartment, you were sprawled on the couch and definitely in need of that aspirin.
You heard Jay bustle into his own kitchen before he pressed the pill in one hand and then handed you the glass of water.
You felt the liquid trickle down your throat, bringing the aspirin tablet with it, before you glanced back up at him.
Jay frowned. “You didn’t have that much to drink last night. Should I be worried?”
You would have rolled your eyes if not for the splitting headache.
“I’m fine.” You said, propping yourself upwards. “So what’s going on?”
Jay’s expression took a heavier look now as he sat himself on his coffee table so he was facing you directly.
“The house two doors down? Did you know her?”
You glanced up at him, your eyebrows bunching together in confusion. “The blonde girl?”
Jay nodded.
You raised an eyebrow now. “She’s your neighbor, Jay.” You paused but when he didn’t say anything you went on. “I met her a few times around... You know, like in the stairwell, or the lift, but we didn’t really talk or anything, I don’t even know her name. What’s going on?”
Jay gave an audible exhale and you knew him well enough to know what followed wasn’t going to be pretty.
“Someone called in a dead body.”
A silence followed his statement.
“No.” The word escaped your lips like a whisper. “And I assume it’s not natural?”
Jay gave you a sad look and shook his head. “Preliminarily? Definitely not.” He paused. “You know I can’t tell you more.”
You nodded, looking down.
“Did you see anything yesterday or recently that was out of the ordinary?” Jay asked, and you could even hear the conflict in his voice. Like he hoped you did so that he could crack the case, but he also hoped you didn’t so you wouldn’t be wrapped up in all this.
“Like I said, I don’t even know her name. Off the top of my head, I don’t think there was anything. I always saw her alone.” You answered. “Sorry.”
Jay shook his head. “You know, if you think of anything…”
You gave him a small teasing smile. “I’ll call, Detective. I already have your number.”
Jay rolled his eyes but glanced back down at you as he stood. “How’s the head?”
You nodded. “Better.”
Jay reached down to ruffle your hair in that annoying way he did even though he knew you hated it. “I’ll be late, obviously. I’ll call Will to check in on you.”
“Do not.” You warned, even though you knew it was useless.
Jay just smiled, waved, and headed out the door.
Tumblr media
Abbie Walker, 27.
The words stared back at Jay from where he sat at his desk. Jay hadn’t known her personally, he hadn’t even known her name and the only interaction they had had was probably polite smiles and nods as a form of greeting, but this still felt like it hit a little too close to home. Literally.
It was only as Adam walked into the bullpen that Jay tore his eyes away from the photo they’d put on the board.
“Medical Examiner’s report. They count twelve stab wounds.” Adam said, with a grim look on his face, handing Jay the report.
Jay frowned. “That much overkill?”
Jay’s eyes raked over the report quickly before he handed it back to Voight for him to take a look.
Before Voight could say anything, Kim jogged up the stairs. “Jay, you need to take a look at this.” She said, her voice was slightly urgent as she headed straight for her desk and pushed the USB drive she had into her computer.
“We got the traffic pod that has a view of the front of your building.” Kim said, pulling the slider across the video to the part she wanted to show Jay.
“We cleared almost everyone who came in within three hours before and after Abbie’s estimated time of death. Except two people. One is a guy who delivered flowers, Kevin’s on that. The other person is this guy.”
Jay squinted, leaning forward to take a closer look.
“Wait stop.” Jay said, as there was a ringing in his ears.
Kim nodded, pulling the video backwards again. “This is why I wanted to show you. That’s Y/N, isn’t it? Heading in right before him?”
“Damn it.” Jay muttered, his eyes registering the timestamp on the video as Kim pressed play again and he watched the tape of you heading in, and the guy behind you reaching out to hold the door to make sure it didn’t close before he slipped in.
Hailey shook her head. “Jay, maybe she didn’t…”
Jay let out a sigh. “With our luck?” He glanced at Voight.
Voight nodded. “Kim, Jay, go.”
While the rest spread out to follow on the other evidence they had on hand, Kim nodded, following Jay to his truck as he sped off back towards home, where he knew you would be.
Tumblr media
You’d barely settled at the table and opened your laptop when the door opened.
You glanced up with somewhat of an exasperated look on your face, expecting to see the redhead Halstead standing there. Instead, you frowned in confusion.
“Jay? What are you doing…” Your voice trailed off as you noticed Kim right behind him.
“Hey, Y/N.” Kim called.
You smiled back at Kim, giving her a small wave, although your frown deepened when you glanced back at Jay.
“What’s going on?” You asked.
Jay glanced at you as he and Kim sat in chairs facing you. “You were home late last night, did you see anyone?”
You shook your head before you paused.
“What is it?” Jay prompted, noticing the change in your demeanor immediately.
Kim sat up a little straighter and you looked at her before you glanced back at Jay. “There was this guy… Uh… I remember because he gave me a shock.”
Jay’s frown deepened.
You shook your head, reading Jay’s expression immediately. “No, he just stopped me from closing the door. The sound gave me a shock. He said… he said it was too cold and that I was saving him the trouble of digging for his keys.”
Jay glanced at Kim.
“What’s…” Your voice trailed off because you’d already reached the conclusion. “Oh my god… no…”
Kim nodded at Jay. “I’ll call Hailey.”
As Kim excused herself, Jay got up, rounding around the table to squat in front of you. “You couldn’t have known, alright? Did you see his face?”
You shook your head. “No, he had a… a scarf draped over the lower half of his face. It was cold, I didn’t think…”
Jay shook his head more vigorously this time, reaching for your hand and squeezing gently. “Don’t do that.”
You glanced up, belatedly realizing how close Jay really was to you, the air feeling like it was sucked out from the room.
Jay blinked back at you before he lifted his hand from yours quickly. Before the awkward tension could fully permeate the room, Kim walked back in. “Jay, we gotta…”
Jay cleared his throat, pulling backwards as he nodded at Kim.
“You going to be okay?” He asked, with a final look back at you.
You smiled and nodded. “Go save the city.”
You watched Jay and Kim walk out, the front door clicking shut behind them, before you turned back towards your computer.
You were going to work and you were not going to think anymore about what had happened next door, you told yourself even as another ‘what if’ floated through your mind.
Tumblr media
Jay didn’t come back that night, even though he’d called to check in on you and offer to have Will come over. You’d rolled your eyes over the phone and promised him that you’d latch the door so well that even if he did come home, he’d have to sleep on the corridor outside.
Even so, you knew Jay was behind it when Will called you all of ten minutes later to offer to bring food over. You relented with a “Fine, you worried I’m going to forget your stupid face?”
So Will had come over with food, which actually saved you a trip and you’d spent the night catching up with him, rolling your eyes as he gently teased you about how you only wanted to hang out with Jay.
But you were grateful that at least Will’s presence had taken your mind off a lot of other things.
By the next day, you were pretty much back to yourself. Jay had always been a little protective of you, even from the time you guys had been in school, and he was probably feeling a bit of heat from the case being a little too close to home. So you told yourself that you’d humor him, and that the Halsteads were just being… the Halsteads.
You’d gone about the day like any normal day but reminded yourself not to stay out too late, just going out for a short meeting with one of your publishers before you came home, or rather Jay’s apartment.
You smiled a little to yourself, realizing how the word ‘home’ resonated in your mind along with Jay, although it came with the bittersweet taste of the feelings you’d kept buried in your heart for so many years.
Your thoughts were interrupted as you heard a knock at the door.
You headed towards the door, wondering if it was Will again, and telling yourself if it was Jay, you were going to remind him that this was his apartment and that he didn’t need to go out of his way to make you comfortable.
But when you opened the door, it was neither Halstead.
The guy standing at Jay’s door was dressed in a CPD jacket, the kind that patrol put on sometimes, along with a police cap that was sitting snugly on his head.
You frowned a little, glancing to the side for sight of a non-existent partner.
“I’m from CPD, we have some follow up questions about the murder down the hall. Do you mind if I come in?”
You felt your eyebrows unconsciously bunch together. Even if Jay couldn’t come himself for any reason, there was no way that he would send anyone other than Intelligence members in his place. And the fact that this officer was alone here was way too suspicious as well.
Your eyes flicked to where the officer’s hand was resting on Jay’s door.
You weren’t sure what would happen if you tried to forcefully close the door right now. If he pushed back, he’d overpower you easily.
You bit the inside of your cheek. As you stood there, trying to calculate all the possibilities in your head to decide what was the next thing you were supposed to do, he took another step forward closer to you, essentially forcing you to step backwards instinctively, his hand pushing the door open just a little wider.

Surprise us🌹
Hmmm 🤔...Let’s see...I have a few Jay Halstead fic's waiting to be finished. So, let's show him some love today.
Tumblr media
This fic is untitled at the moment, but here it goes, lovely:
(this one is pretty spicy 👀)
“Be my good little mistress and take me to your place right now. I Want to fuck you stupid.”
This is from a Halstead fic titled, "Peaked Interest."
“It’s fine baby. I know you love me. There is no need for me to be jealous. Forgive me if this comes off as arrogant, but I'm confident enough to know that I do my job both in and outside of the bedroom as a husband. Knowing that my tongue or fingers alone can bring you to tears is more than enough proof,” he groaned as he traced patterns on the outside of your panties.
Hope you enjoy them🥰💓! Be sure to let me know how you liked them. Reblogs and comments are greatly appreciated! If anyone else is interested leave a 🌹 in my inbox and I’ll share a line from a WIP.

“WHAT TOOK YOU TWO SO LONG?” - Erin Lindsay x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing :  Erin Lindsay x Fem!Reader
Prompt : “WHAT TOOK YOU TWO SO LONG?”
Summary : When you and Erin finally kiss for the first time, the unit has a quite funny reaction to the kiss.
Warnings : kissing?, mentions of a raid,
A/n : SDHJXESK I’m screaming over this prompt 😭 this is a little short since I’m trying to clear out my drafts :)
It all happened right after a hard case, while you and Erin were in the break room. Erin was oddly silent today, barely talking to anyone and every time you looked up from your paperwork she was staring at you. As soon as she noticed that you were looking at her in confusion she quickly looked down and didn’t say anything.
“What’s up with you today? Is everything alright Erin?” You asked softly, walking over to her. “Yea I’m fine Y/n, don’t worry. I didn’t sleep well last night.” She chuckled dryly. “Oh, okay. Well I’m here if you need anything.” You smiled, starting to walk back to your desk. Erin just nodded in response.
You walked away without looking back so you didn’t see how Erin looked at you. She was crushing on you hard. Really hard.
Soon after that Voight ordered everyone to suit up since we were needed for a bust. Everyone quickly got up and got ready downstairs.
As you were walking towards the car you heard Voight tell everyone to stop for a second. “Lindsay, you're with me today. Jay you are with Y/l/n and then Antonio is with Al and Ruzek. Understood?” Voight said, looking over to all of you. “Yes Sir.” Everyone nodded.
Holding your hand out to Jay, he handed you the keys to as black unmarked car but not before huffing and rolling his eyes in a joking manner. “I’m not letting you drive again Halstead after what you did the last time you drove.” You laughed unlocking the car and getting in. “Oh c’mon I’m not that bad of a driver am I?” You raised an eyebrow looking over to him. Jay simply huffed seeing your face.
The bust went well and after that you all got back to the district. Groaning slightly you got up to walk over to the break room for more coffee since you were a little tired after the bust.
You were so tired you didn’t even hear Erin walking into the break room until you saw her standing right next to you. “You okay Y/n?” She asked gently, placing a hand on your back. Instead of saying anything you just nodded and turned to face her.
She looked beautiful as always, you didn’t realise how you were staring at her.
More specifically at her lips. And before you even realised what was happening she pulled you in for a soft kiss. For a second you froze and then you pulled her towards you grabbing her waist and deepening the kiss. Pulling away slightly you both looked at each other with red cheeks and wide eyes.
The only thing that was going through your mind was “OH MY GOD SHE FINALLY KISSED ME.”
What snapped you into reality was Jay with Adam both screaming “WHAT TOOK YOU TWO SO LONG?” You just giggled at their words looking over to Erin who was biting her lip and looking at you.
Erin pulled you closer to her, wrapping her arms around you tightly. “I’m so glad I finally did that.” She whispered softly. “Me too.” You replied looking at her with a goofy smile on your face. You two just stayed like that wrapped in each other’s arms for a while.

One night stand
Characters: Will Halstead x Sibling!Reader, Jay Halstead x Sibling!Reader, Sylvie Brett, Sarah Rheese, Ethan Choi
Warnings: Mentions of drinking, fainting, pregnancy.
Summary: Your brothers aren't exactly over the moon when they find out your pregnant and you don't know who the dad is.
A/N: I know that I've put out several halstead!sister fics but I promise, the next one will be different because I have lots of requests and drafts coming together.
*****
You were going to blame the hot weather. No matter how many Chicago summers you lived and are still living through, you would always despise heatwaves. You were a winter baby through and through.
Jumping out the ambo, you harshly swallowed when your throat suddenly felt dry, slamming the passenger door shut when the room started spinning.
Leaning a hand against the ambo which was hot to the touch, you didn't even wince despite the fact that you probably could've burned yourself by doing so.
"Y/N, you okay?" Sylvie asked, cautiously rounding the ambo to your side, noticing you weren't as energetic as usual. You hadn't followed her into the common room like you usually did, running past to get coffee before her so you wouldn't have the job of brewing another pot.
You hummed, screwing your eyes shut as you tried to keep your breaths steady, breathing in and out deeply. You tried brushing her off, trying to say you were completely fine but you struggled to even form words.
Wanting to be stubborn, you attempted to push her away but you failed. You ended up pushing the air away and that only further convinced Sylvie that you were anything but okay.
"Alright, let's get you in the rig." She said, wrapping an arm around, basically supporting all of your weight.
"Ladies! Lunch is-" Cruz cut himself of, freezing in his steps when he saw your pale self being supported by Sylvie who was struggling to walk with you on her side.
Without being asked, Cruz went to your empty side and easily carried you, taking you off of Sylvie so she could open the doors of the rig. But, before Cruz could sweep you off your feet, you lost all feeling in your body and everything went black.

Ignoring his awaiting patients chart, Will nodded to what he was being told, immersed in Sarah's story she retolled of what happened while she was in med school. Her experiences were interesting to say the least.
Before Will could reply, their conversation was stopped by Maggie who was shouting for him as she walked towards the ambo bay doors. Jutting his head towards the charge nurses direction, Sarah followed the attending, copying his actions even when he came to a sudden stop, bumping into his back courtesy of Maggie.
Will was now being told not to pursue any further, Maggie's hand in his face as she looked down at her brick, her eyebrows furrowed in conflict.
"CFD's in the house." Maggie said loud enough for the two doctors to hear. None of this wasn't new, firefighters came in all the time with burns and smoke inhalation, what was different this time?
"Rheese, your with Dr Choi. Dr Halstead, pregnant woman in five." Maggie said, pointing the doctors in their respective directions. Sarah complied, following after Ethan who was jogging towards the bay doors but Will stayed standing.
"Maggie, what's wron-" Will stopped himself. It suddenly dawned on him why he was no longer going to treat the patient coming in. "Don't tell me it's Y/N."
Will didn't even need to see the empathy that Maggie was sending him because when the bay doors opened he only saw one paramedic and a gaggle of firefighters following behind her and you were nowhere in sight. No, instead your red hair was splayed underneath you on the stretcher.
"She was fine but suddenly felt dizzy and couldn't keep upright before going unconscious." Sylvie's voice cracked as she started to relay, leaving out bits of information since everyone already knew who you were. She had no idea what was wrong with you and when she couldn't find out, all she could think of was losing you.
Reading off vitals, Ethan got to work, shouting around orders causing everyone to fly around. It was organised chaos to anyone who had any idea as to what was happening.
Will was being held back by Maggie who stood by his side, both looking into the treatment room wanting to know what was happening to you. You had yet to regain consciousness but that was yet to be deemed a good or bad thing.
"Jay." Will whispered in realisation. "I need to call Jay."
Despite his declaration, Will found himself glued to the spot, his eyes solely on your lifeless figure on the bed.
"I've got it." Maggie assured the redhead, patting his arm as she reached for her phone and scrolled for the contact of detective Halstead.
"Jay? Hey, it's Maggie..."
*****
When you awoke, you knew exactly where you were based of two tells: the incessant beeping and the strong smell of everything sterile. There was only one place in the world that could be so recogniseable without gaining full consciousness.
You groaned, screwing your eyes shut the second you pried them open when you were met with blinding lights. You noticed how your body felt much lighter than before, your head no longer pounding but your throat felt like a desert.
"And the sleeping beauty awakes, at last." Jay says whimsically, a cup of water in his hand with a plastic straw meant for you.
Your reply was simply a groan, swallowing the water and relishing in the relief it brought you. This heatwave and your back to back calls were definitely the cause of your dehydration.
"Will's gone to get Dr Choi." Jay said, sitting back down in the chair he'd been occupying since his arrival. Linking your fingers with his, Jay tried to forget the moment he found out you were brought the med, the heavy sensation in his chest was one he never wanted to feel ever again.
"Hey, it's good to see you awake." Ethan entered the room, following after Will. The three men were still in their work attire, letting you deduce you weren't out for too long.
"You okay with me saying everything now?" Ethan asked despite already knowing the answer, having seen how close-knit the Halstead siblings were, especially when it came to any of their healths.
You nodded without hesitation, tightening your grip around Jay's hand. Fear was coursing through your veins. This could literally be anything and everything. There were no symptoms and it was all so sudden.
"You were a little dehydrated and there's no concussion seeing as Cruz cushioned your fall." Ethan started with, looking back and forth from each sibling before letting the news loose.
"Your HCG levels are also elevated."
And just like that, your world was flipped upside down.
"I'm pregnant?" You asked, shocked at the revelation. There was no way you could be pregnant. You had no symptoms and the last time you has sex was- Oh, nevermind.
With short and quick congratulations, Ethan was out the room, closing the curtains behind him, finally leaving the three siblings together, all three of them wide awake.
The tension and awkwardness was pulsating. It was so thick you could probably choke on it.
"I'm gonna keep it." For some reason, that was the first thing you said. Even without seeing the life living inside you, you felt the sudden need to defend it, fighting to the death if you had to.
"What- Why wouldn't you?" Will stuttered, looking at you in confusion. "It's your kid, of course you'd have it."
"That does raise the question though." Jay said with one brow raised, looking at you expectantly. "Who's the lucky man's record I'm going to have to look for."
You huffed, pushing Jay's smirking face away from you. You knew that Jay would do exactly that and much more. He'd probably try and get Voight and the entire unit to intimidate the man so they could question his credibility.
"Ummm." You thought hard. In all seriousness, who was the dad?
"I don't know." You shrugged, lips pursed as you pondered, ignoring the concerned faces of your older brothers. "I did have a one night stand a little over a month ago when I was a little too drunk."
"A one night stand?"
"Y/N M/N Halstead!"
You winced, screwing your eyes shut at the volume of your brothers. Their shock and possible anger was easily validated, they did just find out their baby sister was pregnant via a one night stand. The father was a ghost.
"It's fine." You shrugged them off, ignoring their scolding as you insisted. "I can raise a baby, heck, I'd raise an amazing child." You boasted with a little bit of pride.
"And my big brothers are going to be just the best uncles." You said with an amused smile, your voice imitating a mother playing with her kid.
And with nearly three decades of experience, you successfully had Jay and Will convinced, caving despite the strong Halstead stubbornness you all seemed to inherit from your pops.
"Baby Halstead is going to be just fine."
Of course baby Halstead would be fine. Actually, she'd be more than fine with her mum being a paramedic and her biological uncles being a detective and doctor. Not to forgot the aunts and uncles from intelligence, the firehouse and the ED.
Baby girl Halstead was going to be the most protected daughter in all of Chicago because hell would rain down the second harm came within five metres of her.

“Hi.” You grinned rolling over to his side of the bed, lying on top of him.
Your leg wrapped around his leg as he laid under the Snow White comforter and sheets in the fancy hotel room he’d gotten for the two of you. He planted a kiss on your lips. “Hey, Goodmorning beautiful.” You smiled, rubbing your hand back and forth on his chest. For months, you and Dorian (Jay) had been in an intimate relationship behind closed doors, and behind his boss. (Undercover)’s back. You were a runaway at the age of fourteen, you lived on the streets until you met a man you knew as Kevin Rayez, you thought he was kind and sweet and he was at first. He was kind, sweet and generous. He had taken you in, fed you, clothed you. He was grooming you, over time you and him forged a relationship. Sexual relationship. The creep didn’t even wait until you were old enough. He pursued you at just the age of sixteen.
Then once you were in your thirties, things went to bad.. to worse.
He would force you to sleep with his friends, and other men while he got paid for it. From there, he trafficked you around the world. Forcing men on you until you were in your twenties. When you were twenty-two, he forced you to start running the house with the girls he’d trafficked over the years. You were still his top girl so occasionally you’d still have to mess around with the men he told you to or he’d beat you. You’d tried to run, but that didn’t end too well.
Then, along came Dorian Grey. (Dt. Jay Halstead.)
[Flashback: The Introduction]
You sighed deeply looking at the red and blue bruises that covered your body, along with the bite marks from the man in the other room. “Get showered and dressed, I have someone coming and I would like you to be dressed and looking good, and cover those up.” He plants a kiss on your cheek. “Alright?”
“Ok.” You simply responded, he slapped and grabbed your bottom, giving it a nice squeeze. “Okay what?”
You looked up at him and forced a smile. “Ok, daddy.” He smiled. “Good, good. Be down in five minutes, be longer and things won’t be good for you. Okay?” He planted a kiss on your forehead then your head. You nod your head going to turn on the shower, you step inside delicately using your body scrub over your body, your soap and body wash. Once your routine was finished, you cleaned your coochie with water and the outside with your feminine wash. Having all of these men running through you, it made you feel dirty. You wanted out but it had become too hard to walk away from this life.
“You made it, and just in time too.” Kevin smiled up at you. “Come, come..”
You smiled a tight-lipped, forced smile, walking around the couch and sat next to him. You held your head low, and over to him. “Babe, this is someone I want you to meet..” he pulls you in closer, your eyes went from Kevin’s that was holding your wrist and pulling you closer to the man standing in front of you. Tall, beautiful man. His blue eyes pierced straight through her soul, the corner of his lip rounded as if he was about to form a smile. You nervously reached out your hand. “Hi.” Dorian shook your hand. “Hi. I’m Dorian.” He smiled.
“Y/n.” You introduced yourself back.
Kevin removed the two of your hands. “Dorian, this is my wife. As long as you’re staying in my home and, handling my business.. I would appreciate that you keep your eyes and hands to yourself,” he kissed your lips, then your neck. “This one’s all mine.” You forced a smile looking at Dorian in the corner of your eyes, he was observing the body language between you two. It spoke volumes.
“All right. I can assure you, I’m not here for that. I’m just here to help out here as much as I can.”
Kevin nods. “Good, you came highly recommended by Daniel, so don’t disappoint. I usually don’t let outsiders in on my operations, but, if Daniel says you’re cool.. you’re cool with me. Baby, why don’t you go and grab me and the man some drinks. And get dinner started? Yeah?”
“Okay, daddy.”
You stood up and walked out the room. You went to Kevin’s office grabbing his scotch and two glasses. Filling both with ice, walking out you handed Kevin’s to him, and went to hand over Dorian’s. His hand touched yours and it caused your hands to shake and a feeling you’d never felt down your spine. “Thank–” He started until you accidentally bumped your toe on the edge of the coffee table spilling the scotch all on Dorian. “Ouch!”
“What the hell woman?” Kevin stood up looking down at you, slapping you hard across the face sending you to the floor.
The glass broke and a piece went into your arm. Dorian’s jawline clenched. “It was an accident, Kevin.” He got down beside you, helping you clean up the mess. “She can take care of that on her own. She’s so incompetent.” You wiped your tears with your bloody arm. “I-I’m sorry. I'm so sorry.” You apologized. Kevin scoffed. “Leave her, Dorian.”
“Boss, she’s hurt.. just let me wipe her wound.”
Kevin smacked his lip. “When you’re done, meet me in my office. Down the hall, first door on the right. We will get you another drink.” He looked down at you. “And when you’re done, you think you can manage to whip up dinner without injury?” You nod. “Words. Speak.” He pressed his fingers together moving his hand up and down. “Yes. I-I can manage.”
“Are you ok?” Dorian asks helping you to your feet
You just looked him in the eyes. He held your waist. “Y-yes. You should go.” He shook his head. “I'm good. Where’s the first aid kit?” You pointed towards the bathroom. “In the cupboard.” He nods, going to get that, you sighed and hissed as you looked at the blood running down your arm. Shaking your head, you just wanted this all to be over. And wanted to just.. go away. Dorian entered the room with the supplies, once he cleaned up your wound, he helped you clean up the glass.
“Thank you.” You said to him standing to your feet. Your eyes locked with his. His with yours.
He smiled lightly. “No problem, Y/n. How’s your toe?” He chuckled, you blushed shaking your head. You were about to answer when you heard someone clearing their throat. “Tonya.” You stepped back from Dorian, turning your attention to her. “What’s going on here?” Tonya was Kevin’s sister, and business partner. She also was the only one who truly seemed to care about you and your well being, and always protected you when she could from her brother. “Nothing.” She nods her head, “Run along.” She told you. You sprinted away.
[end of flashback]
“You know it’s only a matter of time before he finds out about us, Dorian.” You sighed, placing your chin on his chest
Tumblr media
He leans down kissing your lips. “He won’t find out, and just trust me.. soon, I’ll get you away from him.” He ran his hand up and down your back as he held you in his arms. “I want you right now, climb on.” You giggle, getting on his stomach, pushing yourself down to his hard-on, you moaning as you slowly road his dick pressing against his stomach. “Mmm,” you moved your hair to the side as you rode him up and down, he held your hips, guiding you up and down. “Mm, shit. Give me a kiss.” You leaned down, careful not to break your rhythm, his lips pressed against yours. You both moan in sync. You giggle as he flipped you both over, thrusting in and out of you
“Mm, yes!” You moan.
You both stared into each other’s eyes intensely. You broke eye contact, you couldn’t no longer look him in the eyes as you moaned louder, creaming all over his dick as his thrust became harder and deeper. “Ohhh! Dorian!! Fuckkkk!” You screamed out in pure pleasure.
-Hours Later-
You sat up on your knees. “Mm, you leaving?” You pout.
“Yeah, I have some work I have to do. I’ll come check on you later. You sure you gonna be okay here until I’m able to make it back?” He holds your naked body to his clothed, his hands running down your soft brown skin, over the scars, the bruises. “I can’t wait to get you away from him, this life.. you don’t deserve this.”
“Dorian, let’s be real. You can’t take me away from him. He will kill me.”
He shook his head kissing your shoulder. “I’ll never let that happen, you hear me? I love you.” You looked him in the eyes. “W-what?” He smiled, kissing your lips. “You heard me. I love you. Imma protect you.”

-As Halstead
Jay walked into the locker room, sighing deeply. He looked at the photo of him and Hailey that was taped to the locker. Jay was always an honest, caring, loving and noble man. And he loved Hailey. But he loved Y/N.. more if that made sense. Hailey and Jay had been having marital problems for a long time. She’s always been distant with him.. off putting. A little like Y/n in a way but, things with Hailey were just.. sideways. They were separated right now, and he’s been working undercover for the last couple months, but today was the day he’d officially came back to the unit.
His double life was starting to take a toll. He never intended to fall in love with you, but he had. He felt ashamed , unlike himself. And he didn’t know where to begin or.. how he would even tell Hailey that he’s stepped outside of their marriage— even if they were separated– and now you were carrying his child. And he needed to get you out of the situation you were in while Kevin was out of the country on business. “Halstead?”
Jay was knocked out of his trance. He grabbed his badge wrapping it around his neck, grabbing his jacket and closing the locker behind him. “Ruzek.”
The boys shared a brotherly hug. “So glad to have you back.” Jay nods and smiles. “Thank you.” Upton entered the room, she rubbed the skin between her thumb and index finger, Ruzek smiled. “I’ll leave you two to it.” He patted his back, before leaving. Jay rubbed his neck slightly. “Hey.”
“Hey.” She smiled a toothless smile, looking at the man she did love but found herself becoming distant.
He didn’t know and she didn’t know the man he was becoming. “I been calling..” she trailed off. “Yeah, I know I’ve been meaning to get back to you, but you know how it is being under, I can barely get away. You know.” She nodded. “Yeah, but how’s things going?”
“Uh.. it’s gotten complicated but, I’ve gotten closer to–”
He was cut off. “Hey, upton- Halstead!” Kevin smiled walking over and embracing Jay with brotherly love. “Glad you here but hey, we just caught a case.” Jay nods. “We can talk about this later.” He looked at her, walking past and going to the briefing room. It all felt so weird, being back here, being around his friends. If all just felt weird and out of place. He looked down at his phone seeing a message from Tonya.
Tonya: 911. Out back.
He frowned. “Hey uh.. I gotta,” he didn’t speak another word, he grabbed his jacket and wrapped it around him rushing out, he closed the gate doors behind him and walked out the back of CPD. He furrowed his brows.
“So it’s true..” Tonya chuckled shaking her head. “You’re a fucking cop!?”
Jay held his hand up. “Tonya..” she scoffed shaking her head. “None of that matters right now, I went back t the hotel to pick up Y/n..” he furrowed his brows. “Okay and? What happened? Where is she? Please tell me you didn’t bring her here.”
“She’s missing.” Tonya told him. “When I got there..”
She was cut off by Upton running out back. “Jay, we leaving? You coming? Is everything ok?” He rubbed the back of his neck. Tonya laughs. “Wow. Jay? What’s your real name.” He sighs. “Jay.. Jay Halstead.” She sucked her teeth. “You go. Do your job. I’ll find her..”
“Wait,” Jay moved closer to her. “Don’t tell her about this. I want to be the one to tell her and don’t tell your brother.”
She laughs. “I won’t. Long as you keep me out of your little Investigation.. but there’s something you should know.. when I got back to the hotel, there was blood everywhere. You might want to come clean about being in that room or.. stall your people.. I’m sure they investigating it. I can have-”
“Wait hold up, go back, there was what? WHAT ARENT YOU TELLING ME, TONYA!?”
Upton just stood there. Confused, trying to make out what was being said until she heard him shout. Tonya pointed her finger in his face. “It’s gonna be handled. I’m sure she’s all right. I will find her.”
“No.. no.. imma find her.” He brushed past her. “Halstead!” Voight shouted.
Jay turned and looked at him and upton, “Get in.” He told Tonya, she ran around getting in the passenger. He got in his truck and started up the vehicle, speeding out the precinct. “Why you didn’t lead with that Tonya? I need details.. everything you saw or can remember..”
“I’m sure she’s fine.. Dorian, Jay whatever the hell your name is. My brother wouldn’t kill her. If anything he’d rough her up.”
Jay shook his head. “And you think that’s okay?” She shook her head. “No. But I did warn the two of you to stop what you’re doing. If she’s killed, it’s on you.” She spoke with venom looking away from the road over at him. “On you.”
“If anything happens to her, I’ll never forgive myself.”
She shook her head. “Well something did. I don’t know what happened in that room but I’m actually scared.” Jay’s phone rung with Voight’s number. He let out a sharp exhale, answering. “Halstead. Where are you?”
“Something came up. I have to handle it.”
He shook his head. “You want to explain to me why the hotel we’re investigating has your undercover alias name on file? And why I have a room a mess, ransacked and blood everywhere. Jay, what’s going on? Come talk to me before you do anything stupid.. we can do this.. together.”
“This is my mess. I’m going to fix it. Just tell me, is there a body?”
Voight went silent. Jay pulled over and slammed on his break. “Voight, is there a body?”
“Yes.” Jay and Tonya both looked at eachother.

[Dream]
You’re trailing behind Jay in the crowd, receiving stares as you pierce your way through the waves of bodies with hollers of his name. You can’t seem to keep up, his hand having been disconnected from yours, which happened several clusters of people ago.
There’s jostling and a frenetic blur of conversations, some of which you’re sure are about you and the commotion you’re making. You don’t care, however, the only thing on your mind is to keep tabs on the black [POLICE] vest on Jay’s back.
Anxiety coils around your stomach like a python, squeezing the more you try and free yourself of the sensation. To your dismay, your hand is met with thin air as you reach for your radio on your own vest.
Where the hell had your radio gone?
Fuck.
Paranoia in your line of work was generally a good thing, it kept you alert and tuned in to your surroundings. However, as you meet the eyes of judging civilians, who seem to move toward you in a silent threatening waltz, it does nothing but make your hairs stand on end.
You didn’t know why you felt so scared and so out of control, but you don’t know how to tame it anymore.
All the while your eyes haven’t left the back of Jay’s head for longer than a second, anger fizzing out of you as you watch your boyfriend and partner take a left and head for the elevator. You would surely lose him by the time you made up the distance between you.
You had no evidence for your next thought but as true as the sky is blue you know in your soul that to lose Jay to the elevator would mean disaster. Whether that disaster was for you or for him, you couldn’t be sure.
“Jay! For god’s sake!” You holler with abandon, with no concern about the scene you’re making.
A gap opens up in the shifting bodies ahead of you and you break into a sprint, thwacking shoulder to shoulder with faceless silhouettes as you keep moving.
It’s too late, however, the elevator doors begin to close just as you round the corner and you watch the back of Jay disappear.
You stand there breathless, the hum of activity behind you makes you grab at the back of your neck, trying to find some feeling of safety and security. The elevator ascends into the heights of the arched building, bright lights and a glass ceiling loom overhead, making you feel small.
Why wasn’t the team here? Why did Jay never look back for you?
You scrub your hands at your face, trying to collect your thoughts. You lift your eyes to the panel above the elevator entrance, there should be numbers there to tell you where Jay was going but there was nothing. Yet another jab at your gut.
With little option but to climb the stairs and go looking for signs of trouble that’s exactly what you start doing. You’re taking the stairs with speed as you make it to the first floor, another floor that seems to be full of people whose dark eyes are drawn to you, you felt that you were most certainly an unwelcome intrusion. Though you were used to that when on duty.
This time the floor is littered with couches, red plush velvet upholstery with canoodling couples and threesomes dressed in opulent gowns and suits, indulging in platters of food and flowing taps of alcohol. The air is thick with a pleasant-smelling smoke, it almost has an orange haze to it. You knew this place was somewhere for the rich and the elite, unsurprisingly insidious and almost cult-like in nature.
It feels as though you’ve fallen into an alternate dimension as you whip your head around, looking for glimpses of Jay. You’re avoiding the gaze of the watchers as best you can, inching forward to the next stairwell whilst keeping a distance from the silent pandemonium around you.
Suddenly in front of you, a sour-faced individual appears, feminine in appearance they align themselves with you, stopping you from moving further ahead. There are eyes are vividly green, serpent-like, their lips blood red. Those same lips are pursed as they point sharply in the direction of a small glass balcony that hung over the edge of the floor you were on, looking down onto the ground floor concourse.
For some reason, there are no words exchanged, and you can’t even bring yourself to ask for clarification, it’s like you instantly know that Jay is in that direction. There is no other choice but to go over there and see what awaits.
You nod at the strange figure, watching as they turn on their heels and strut away - catching briefly the couch-dwellers staring at you again. You could feel the inky black of their eyes, only pinpoints of white in their pupils.
The sooner you could get Jay and get the fuck out of here, the better.
Mindful of the fact that you didn’t know what was on the other side of the thick, long, velvet curtains that concealed the balcony, you keep a hand close to your weapon but your heart feels increasingly close to your vest, pounding relentlessly.
You couldn’t afford to act in a rash panic to get to Jay.
Inching forward you try and keep an ear out for signs of movement or voices, the crowd behind you seems to fade out as a sharp ringing tone pierces your ears, and you wince at the sensation. It felt as though you’d been caught in an explosion, something you had experienced on multiple occasions.
Of course, this was different, you knew that. You were certain you were actually in the undercurrent of a panic attack. Heart pounding, a sickly feeling in your throat, you feel the cold of your anxiety ripple through your adrenaline.
Still, no sound or movement in front of you as you come to a standstill in front of the curtains, balancing your posture to not fidget or jostle your vest too much.
You’re still processing how to handle what comes next when you hear the unmistakable metal whistle of a blade being unsheathed. Your heart leaps into your mouth, a shaking hand grasping the fabric of the curtain as you pry them open just a fraction, trying to see what the hell was happening.
“Oh my god.” You breathe out, and the sight in front of you is incomprehensible.
Jay is now stripped of his clothes, and his weapon and vest are discarded along with everything else. Tears and sweat stain his cheeks, mixing in with the blood that drips from his nose, drying into a rusty colour on his mouth. Angry red marks litter his skin, marks which look to be made with a blunt object. You suspected that blunt object was one of the many candelabras sitting at various heights on the ledge of the balcony.
Your boyfriend’s face is stoic, his nostrils flare in defiant anger, but you can see the fine tremor in his muscles as he tries to remain still, trying not to provoke more of what they'd already done to him.
They.
They were hooded figures, in black robes with gold trim, and black gloves to conceal anything that might show you who they were.
Your blood is rushing in your ears, the confined space of the balcony left you without a vantage point to attack from another angle or use the element of surprise.
“Time.” A deep voice utters, taking you by surprise. It doesn’t sound as though it came from any individual at all, but rather an omniscient presence from above, ethereal and intangible, surrounding you completely.
Between that last thought and your next breath, the sickening sound of metal slicing into flesh brings the world rushing back to burn you.
A stunned gasp escapes Jay's mouth, a grunt of unregistered agony as his brain fights to protect his pain reception.
The dagger in the gloved leather hand is pressed to its hilt in Jay’s abdomen, seated beneath his chest.
You watch in horror as Jay’s glassy eyes meet yours, weak hands trying to push away the stranger’s hands, you’re trying to move forward, your voice screaming hoarsely with no sound to speak of. The curtains move no further, unrelenting as they hold together with some unseen force.
Your boyfriend’s life fades in front of you, trapped in his glass prison as concealed robed heads turn to watch you, unrepentant as they make you watch your love slip away.
Your fists pound against the barrier, screaming Jay’s name in disbelief, willing him to keep his eyes open and look at you.
[Dream jump]
“Detective, this came for you.” One of Platt’s officers hands you a reasonably large box as you thank them and let them leave.
It’s a black box with no label or card attached, suddenly you’re confused as to how the officer knew it was for you. Realistically you knew you shouldn’t open it, it could have very well been something dangerous, but your feel compelled as you move on instinct, undoing the large gold ribbon wrapped around it.
The more you undo the knot in the ribbon, the worse the trembling in your hands gets, it was as though you already knew what was inside without seeing.
Lifting the lid may as well have been lifting a solid block of stone, discarding the top onto the floor as you peel away black sheets of paper.
The sight makes you gag.
Without hesitation, you knew that the pristinely cleaned and catalogued skeletal remains were Jay’s, returned from that incomprehensible and soulless place where they had taken his life in front of your eyes.
In your terror, your anger and your despair there is nothing left to do except scream, or at least try to. Throat-shredding gasps and squeaks tear at your vocal cords as you try and release your grief, fists clenched until–
[End of dream sequence]
You wake up still screaming, scrambling upright in the bed, thrashing around as that chasm of darkness swipes its claws at your consciousness, trying to pull you back in.
A warm hand on your bare shoulder makes you flinch, pulling away from it until you're almost falling off the edge of the bed. You whip your head around to the hand's source.
Concerned green eyes meet your wide, panicked, ones.
“Hey, hey, Y/N, it’s me. It’s Jay. You’re awake, everything is okay, and you’re safe with me. Breathe for me, honey.” Jay keeps his grip on you, gentle to not alarm you further but secure enough to prevent you from hurting yourself.
The longer the heat of his palm and fingers seeps into your skin, the easier it gets to breathe, the familiarity of his touch, the cadence in his voice, the smell of his aftershave, the quiet of your bedroom - it all grounds you.
That bliss of recognition relaxes your muscles, your eyes blinking against the sting of sleep and fear, tears that brim fall down in silent tracks on your cheeks. You know you’re safe, but the sensation of powerlessness and loss makes you feel like you’re dropping from a height, your stomach still giving involuntary flips of anxiousness.
“Jay.” It’s a broken whisper that makes your boyfriend’s heart ache, opening his arms up as you scramble back towards him, practically settling yourself into his lap as you wrap yourself tightly around him.
You kiss his neck, inhaling him as you steady your breathing further, slow and deliberate as you follow his guiding rhythm. Squeezing your eyes shut to get away from the tortured images, only to open them again as you see your greatest fears in that darkness.
Hands moving on instinct to feel every bit of him, stroking through his bed head, pulling back so you can look at him. His eyes search yours, trying to understand what you need, but it’s clear as you begin to trace the features on his face. His expression softens, nuzzling into your hand as you caress his jaw, chasing your hand to kiss your palm.
You study him again, cupping his face to press a slow kiss to his lips, he feels you shivering in his arms, the adrenaline and the chill of the room rattling your very being.
Wordlessly he lifts the duvet up and over your shoulders, cocooning you between him and the weighted, warm, material.
It’s not hard to guess what the nightmare was about, the way you watch him like he would disappear at any moment makes it all too clear. He takes your face in his hands like you had with him, reassuring you with certainty.
“I got you. You got me. I’m okay, I’m not leaving and nobody is taking me. Alright?” He murmurs, pressing a kiss to your forehead, to your cheeks, then back to your lips - he takes your focus away from the “What if”, letting you hear, feel and see him from second to second.
You simply nod, resting your head back on his shoulder as he holds you, gently rocking you as you sigh. Your heart races still, but not in the gallop that it had been. You feel fingertips tenderly massaging at your scalp, trailing over your neck to rub your back.
Focusing on the heat of Jay’s skin, the softness of his breaths, and listening to his gentle words as he occasionally encourages and soothes.
After a while you feel yourself truly come out of the alarmed stupor, croaking out a “Thank you.” with your dry throat.
“You don’t have to thank me, sweetheart. This is what I’m here for.” He gently encourages you to look at him, making sure you see his sincerity.
You smile, rubbing your thumb over the bridge of his nose.
“Want to talk about it?” He tests, running his hands up and down your arms.
You think about the question, not sure if you were ready to relive the moments of losing him just yet. Perhaps it would be a morning thing, where the sun could shine on both of you over breakfast and keep those shadows away, only existing in the story you would tell.
You shake your head, smiling weakly. “In the morning?” You suggest, to which your boyfriend nods without hesitation. “Of course.”
You glance at the clock, it reads 2am and you hum in thought. Sometimes, you and Jay would go to the kitchen to make a hot chocolate, then settle on the couch to watch something mindless and relaxing on the tv - it was a ritual that usually worked if either one of you was struggling, but you didn’t want to keep Jay awake. Despite the day off both of you had ahead of you, it was late and the case you’d been on this past week had been an energy wipeout.
In the silent weighing of your thoughts, Jay’s voice brings you back, you notice he’s got that knowing smile on his face, hands settled on your waist. “Hot chocolate and whatever’s on tv?” He asks, but really he knows it’s a sure thing.
You let out a small laugh, kissing his cheek. “If that’s okay? I don’t want you to lose sleep over this.” You frown, still not sure if you should just lay back down and try to sleep.
Jay shakes his head, “Babe, when do we ever just cut this short and force ourselves back to sleep when we’re not ready? I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing you’re not feeling totally safe and totally relaxed. You wouldn’t want that for me either, would you?”
You of course shake your head too, there would be no way you’d let Jay just suck it up and not do everything you could to help him wind back down. You had countless nights of dealing with his nightmares and helping him calm down to show for it, and you wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Jay kisses your forehead, “That’s settled then. Gimme a second.”
In a swift motion, he extricates himself from the warmth of you, rooting around in a drawer for one of your sleep shirts, some fluffy socks and the fluffy dressing gown that hung on the back of the door.
Then he returns to you and begins to put the shirt over your head, helping you get your arms in before pulling your legs carefully to the edge of the bed, making you laugh at the military-like execution of this routine.
“Cosy?” He asks, and you nod, shimmying off the bed to stand. “Cosy.” You confirm, immediately putting your arms through your gown as he holds it open for you, trying the belt securely as the soft material instantly eases the tension in your body.
You watch as Jay grabs his own shirt, some sweatpants and some socks, patiently waiting for him to get dressed too. Then you’re reaching for the hand he holds out to you as you both wander down the hall to the kitchen and lounge.

The sound of the simmering milk on the stove and the smell of the cocoa being stirred in has become one of your most cherished things with Jay, watching him put everything together and take such care of you only ever makes your heart grow fonder.
It was times like this that unquestionably reaffirm that you wanted him to be your husband one day, hopefully, one not too far away.
The lights are dimmed low, the curtains are drawn and the air is warm, you feel safe in your world with Jay, and your nightmare is all but forgotten for now.
With a pour of some caramel and a sprinkle of marshmallows onto the swirl of cream, Jay brings two steaming mugs over and hands one to you, holding the hot bottom of the mug to make sure you can take the cool handle.
“Thank you, honey.” You smile, making sure he’s got room to settle next to you - using your free hand to hold the blanket up so he can climb under.
Settled against Jay’s side, you sip at your hot chocolate, the ever-present weight of his arm around your shoulder lulls you into serenity as you watch the opening scenes of Our Great National Parks.
You lift your head, looking up at Jay, “This is how it should be forever.”, you muse, following up with words that you want him to hear as many times as you can say it. “I love you.”
Jay leans in, knocking his head gently against yours, “Y/N, this can be forever, you don’t have to doubt that. I love you too.”
-
Taking the last sips of your drink, you set the empty mug on the coffee table, pulling your legs back up to remain in the heat under the comforter, slipping your arms around Jay as you pillow yourself back against him, feeling the vibrations of his gentle laughter - he loved how assertive you could be about your cuddling.
“Good?” He asks, checking in with you one last time.
“Good.” You confirm as stretches of beach and forest are shown in rich colour and wondrous sound - letting your mind wander unafraid, secure in the knowledge that Jay is right where he’s meant to be.
