Tumblr media
GIF NOT MINE, FULL CREDITS TO THE OWNER
Requested?: Nope!
Warnings: N/A
Let me know if you want the next part of what happens when you’re on the night out, enjoy!
*****
- was it even a night out if you didn’t spend the whole day dwelling on what you were going to wear?
- you’d grab a simple black dress out of the closet, staring at your reflection in the mirror as all of your insecurities scream back at you
- Jay would run a hand along your back effortlessly as he walks past, unaware of your inner demons rattling through your head
- ‘look at you’ he mumbles, pressing a kiss to the crook of your neck before grabbing a towel and tossing it over his shoulder
- you force a smile, watching as he circles back to you. His hand falling to innately rest on your hips as he pulls your hair to one side, exposing your shoulder for him to drop a soft kiss to your skin
- ‘what’s going on?‘ he didn’t expect an answer, just continued to reassure and plant delicate kisses along your arm to hope you see yourself the way he sees you
- ‘get in the shower, we’re gonna be late’ you lightly push back against his chest, feeling it vibrate in a huff of laughter as he presses one last kiss just below your ear, letting it linger slightly as he inhales your fresh scent
- ‘yes ma’am’ he marches off ‘can always join me if you want?’ He throws you a wink that you chuckle and roll your eyes at before tossing the towel at him that he had thrown on the bed just a few moments earlier
- you stood in the kitchen, anxiously tapping your foot as you sipped on your drink, you hated to be late and Jay always kept it close to the mark
- ‘waiting for you’ he remarks, smirk pulling on his lips as he tugs his jacket from the hook
- ‘you’re worse than a woman, Jay’ you throw the rest of your drink down the sink before joining him by the door, putting the last minute essentials in your bag
- he opens the door, ushering for you to exit first and then locking up. Naturally slinging his arm over your shoulders as he hums in amusement ‘gotta look good for my girl’

Pairing: Jay Halstead x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 111 - an actual drabble 😅
Jay Halstead Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Is that my shirt?” Y/N hears Jay ask from behind his desk.
She looks up from the paperwork she’s working on and sees that his eyes are trained on the navy-blue Henley she’s wearing. “Have you only just noticed I’m wearing it?”
“Maybe,” he says his eyes now meeting hers. “Have you been wearing it all day?”
“I did tell you this morning that we need to do the laundry on our day off tomorrow,” she tells him. “If you want, I can go check my locker for a clean shirt.”
“I was actually thinking, you should wear my clothes more often,” he tells her, pulling her in for a kiss.

Live Laugh Love Annoying requested? Nope, I was trying to write a little bit of my new wip and couldn’t stop thinking about jay responding live laugh love annoying in response of halstead!sisters newest catch phrase (which has coincidentally been my newest one today and I too find it annoying but can’t stop) so I wrote this little drabble
“Live Laugh Love hate this heat” you exclaimed while shutting the door. You had been out and about with some friends and Chicago temperatures were reaching the mid 90s.
“Weren’t you wishing for this back in January?” asked your brother Jay while he sipped on some coffee.
“I guess, but it’s not very live laugh love fun anymore”
Rolling his eyes, Jay went back to what he was doing.
Later that night, Will had called you to the dinner table and told you all about the upcoming weekend plans.
“What do you mean I have to stay with aunt Trudy and Uncle Mouch? I thought we were all going to the cabin!” you exclaimed!
“Y/N, we were, until a little birdy told me you were failing Summer school” stated Jay.
“Failing! That’s news to me!” you stated back.
“Look, we want you to come, but you there isn’t any more chances of making up school if you flunk out of Summer school!” diffused Will.
“Not my problem” you muttered.
“It will be when you are stuck repeating 6th grade when all your friends move to 7th and move onto the middle school building” responded Will, getting annoyed with his sister.
“How am I supposed to live laugh love in these conditions!” you bit back
“Live laugh love get over it!” bit Jay back getting annoyed with his sisters newest catch phrase.
“Ew, you just made it uncool” you whined
“Good, maybe you’ll stop cause its live laugh love annoying”

JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Jay paced, walking up and down the small corridor.
“Jay, this isn’t even her first shot.” Jay acted like he didn’t hear you and you let out a small smile. You weren’t sure if you should laugh or roll your eyes.
He was about to turn around and pace back the way he came from when the nurse called.
“Sophia Halstead?”
You hoisted Sophia more securely on your arm, practically dragging your husband along with you.
Sophia took the shot like a champion, partly because you’d found a really good pediatrician with Will’s help, partly because you’d found a good distraction for Sophia. So by the time Sophia felt it, it was over.
As a sob burst forth from Sophia and you tightened your arms around her, you glanced at Jay only to see the remnants of a grimace on his face.
You gave him a look and Jay narrowed his eyes at you. “They literally put a needle into your daughter, in case you missed the point.”
Tears still brimming in her eyes, she reached for her father, only residual sobs left.
Jay gently picked her from your arms and you shook your head. “I don’t know who is more upset.”
“Me, I am definitely more upset.” Jay answered you as the three of you left the doctor’s office, Sophia laying her head on her father’s shoulders. You smiled, as Jay reached down for your hand.

I Feel it coming
Ok, this is my first ever post - I'm so scared but so excited too. There is smut, don't know how good it is, so enjoy! lol :)
__________
Standing with her back against the bar, Charlotte let out a sigh. A small smile graced her lips when the bartender handed her a freshly poured glass of wine. Her manicured fingers circled around the stem of the glass, and she nodded her head in appreciation before bringing the glass to her lips. In one sip, Charlotte downed the liquid and handed the now empty glass back to the bartender, who was already holding his hand out. The shock from Charlotte’s actions wore off the poor guy’s face after the third glass. On a normal night, she would care about how she acted and wouldn’t be on her fifth glass, but tonight she didn’t even bat her eyelashes in shame.
As she waited for her new drink, her brown eyes surveyed her surroundings. The ballroom was filled from corner to corner with partygoers, talking and dancing with each other. There, only a few feet away, her friends sat around a table enjoying each other's company. And she wasn’t surprised to see Kim sitting on Adam’s lap. It took them a few years, and a few too many close calls, to realize how right they were for each other. While dating in your same detective unit is frowned upon, per se, Intelligence was different; Voight made the rules, and if he said it was ok, it was ok - no one questioned it.
Charlotte couldn’t help it and smiled when Adam’s hand rubbed the bottom of Kim’s back, which made her smile at him. They were the definition of relationship goals.
“Shit,” Charlotte said.
Leaning too far to the left, she felt herself trip over the bottom of her dress. She quickly caught herself and looked around to see if anyone saw her almost falling on her face. No one did, thankfully, but then she stood still for a moment thinking about if she would actually care if someone did – and with the amount of alcohol in her, she didn’t. Charlotte pulled her dress carelessly and turned towards the bar.
The bartender - Derek - stood in front of her with her now full glass. Suddenly, Charlotte was surrounded with Kim and Hailey on each of her sides. Charlotte smiled small and took the glass from his hands.
“How many glasses have you had?” Kim asked.
She shrugged and looked back at her cup.
“This is my fifth - no sixth glass,” she said.
Hailey and Kim looked at each other before looking back at Charlotte.
“I am fine, so stop worrying,” Charlotte said. “How long have you known me? For, what, like, six years? You guys know I need to take the edge off at these things.”
Hailey frowned.
“We know when your anxiety is getting the best of you,” Hailey said. “Like you said, we know you.”
Charlotte opened her mouth, but Kim cut her off.
“It’s been a rough year for you and don’t even try to deny it,” she said. “But it's a special occasion! Everyone is dressed up and having fun. It is not everyday the city of Chicago throws the entire police department a party. You should be dancing, not sitting over here looking like a creep.”
Charlotte laughed and bumped Kim’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” Charlotte said. “I should be having fun; I am having fun. But I hate parties, especially parties that involve talking to people.”
Kim and Hailey both threw their heads back and laughed.
“Well, as your best friends, we are forcing you to mingle,” Kim said. “Adam, Kevin, Antonio, and even Voight,  want to hang out with you too.”
Charlotte sighed.
“I guess I should talk to them. They are my friends,” she said.
Hailey smiled and nodded.
“They are your very good friends, and we should have dragged you over there an hour ago,” she said.
“Well then what are we waiting for?” Charlotte asked.
Hailey and Kim smiled and turned around. With her glass in her hand, Charlotte let them drag her over to their table.
Adam was still sitting but was now in a deep conversation with Antonio, who was sitting across from him. Kevin stood with Voight in front of the table and was talking to some other officers. Charlotte let out a sigh of relief she didn’t realize she was holding.
He wasn’t here.
He is not sitting next to Adam. He is not making some joke; he is off somewhere else, somewhere far away from here.
Kevin was the first person to notice the girls. His eyes got wide, and he smiled big.
Charlotte laughed as his arms circled around her. A moment later, she felt another set, and soon Adam, Kevin and Antonio were all hugging her while Voight just shook his head at their antics. When joining Intelligence three years ago, the unit already had their groove; they knew who worked with who and what everyone’s strength was. They were a family, and trying to enter a unit like this is scary. Kim and Hailey immediately welcomed Charlotte and accepted another woman with open arms. The boys took their time, but after a few late nights working and drinking at Molly’s, they became her older brothers.
“Dude, finally!” Adam yelled, shaking Charlotte’s shoulders. “We have been fucking waiting for you.”
Everyone laughed.
“Are you ready to have some fun?” Antonio asked, smirking.
Charlotte nodded, but she had a feeling she was going to regret that decision in the morning.
The boys cheered and headed to the bar to grab shots from Derek.
Yes, she thought. She was definitely going to regret this.
*******
It was a quarter to two in the morning when Charlotte found herself sitting in the seat Adam was sitting in before. Her friends were in front of her dancing.
After two shots of vodka and another glass of wine, Charlotte could feel how drunk she was. However, she concluded that this was a rare occasion where she didn’t feel sick after drinking that much. Instead, she found herself smiling and more at ease than she thought she would be.
The ballroom was still packed with people, and no one was going home anytime soon. Charlotte listened as the next song came through the speakers, and she smiled when she heard The Weeknd’s voice.
Charlotte watched as Hailey cheered loudly and pointed at Charlotte. She laughed and let her friends drag her out to dance.
Yeah, uh
Tell me what you really like Baby I can take my time We don't ever have to fight Just take it step-by-step
Charlotte let the music move through her as she found her hips moving in sync with the beat. She saw Hailey wink at her before she turned around and disappeared in the crowd.
Charlotte frowned and was about to go after her until she caught a whiff of something that she hadn’t smelt in a while.
Turning around, she stood in front of the man she thought she wouldn’t have to see tonight.
Jay Halstead looked down at her, and Charlotte could feel her heart falling out of her chest.
I can see it in your eyes 'Cause they never tell me lies I can feel that body shake And the heat between your legs
Green eyes met blue eyes as the pair stood only a few inches from each other. Charlotte could feel the heat radiating off his body, and this made her anxiety grow.
The first-time Charlotte met Jay was during her second week of working with the unit. He was in an undercover case, and when he introduced himself to her, she knew she was in trouble. His voice drew her in, and Charlotte couldn’t move herself away.
You've been scared of love and what it did to youYou don't have to run, I know what you've been throughJust a simple touch and it can set you freeWe don't have to rush when you're alone with me
Jay’s hand circled her waist and pulled Charlotte in until their chests were touching. She could feel his suit rubbing against the silk of her dress. His forehead touched hers and soon she was swaying with him. His eyes never looked away from her, even though Charlotte closed hers.
His breath brushed against her face; his hands gripped her waist, holding on like she was going to disappear any second - and Charlotte couldn’t blame him for feeling that way. Their last encounter had her running home and leaving him broken-hearted.
You are not the single type So baby, this the perfect time I'm just trying to get you high And faded off this touch
When his lips touched that spot behind her ear, that spot that makes Charlotte weak in the knees, she knew she had to move out of his grip. Opening her eyes, she saw him frown, and she knew he saw the tears forming in her eyes.
Charlotte took this chance and surprisingly broke out of his hold before dashing off towards the bathroom.
She couldn’t breathe, and she stopped when she reached the small hallway. Charlotte was alone for five seconds before she felt his hands on her face, and green eyes met blue eyes once again.
“You aren’t supposed to be here,” Charlotte mumbled. “I only came because I was told you weren’t going to be here.”
She felt herself getting worked up. A tear escaped, and Jay’s thumb immediately wiped it away.
“Why are you here? I was doing so well!” Charlotte said. “I haven’t thought about you in days, and now you are here in front of me, and it’s not fair.”
Jay frowned.
“Why? Why isn’t it fair? Jay asked. “I am a detective too. I am allowed to be here.”
Charlotte let out a choked sob.
“Because I left you,” she said. “I ran away and left you. I hurt you. I told you I couldn’t do this. God, do you know how hard it was to leave you? Why couldn’t you have just listened to me and stayed away?”
Jay stared at Charlotte with such force that she didn’t even know he had. His thumbs caressed her face, and she almost whimpered at his touch. Her back pressed against the wall as Jay moved until their chests were touching.
And then he smiled.
“Charlotte, I love you,” he said softly. “I will always love you. I knew I loved you when you first spilt coffee on me.”
Charlotte sobbed.
“I know you’ve been hurt in the past. That bastard ripped you open and broke your heart, and you don’t know how badly I want to kill him,” Jay said. “Yes, I was hurt when you left, but I knew it wasn’t you. It was your fear, and you had no control of it.”
Charlotte stood quiet; she let him talk. She missed that voice more than she thought she did - and it has only been a week without him.
“Please let me in. Please let me be the one to help you become you again,” he said. “I know you love me. God, I can feel it right now, Charlotte.”
Without warning, his lips were on hers, and Charlotte didn’t waste a second before wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I love you,” Charlotte said. “I’m so sorry for hurting you. I know I shouldn’t have left, and I almost turned around, but I couldn’t. I wanted to. I wanted to come back the next day and the day after that, but I didn’t think you would want me still. I have so much baggage, and I didn’t want to chance it with you. I knew if I gave in and stayed, I knew if we didn’t last, I wouldn’t be ok. I would never be ok if that happened.”
Jay smirked and pressed his lips against hers once more.
“Baby, we are going to last; you can hold me to that,” he said, making Charlotte laugh. “Kim and Adam may hold the title right now for the King and Queen, but that will be us soon enough.”
Charlotte smiled and nodded.
“Let me take you home,” Jay said softly.
Charlotte bit her lip and nodded with no hesitation.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
*******
The ride home to Charlotte’s apartment was quiet. Nothing but the breeze from the open window blowing on her face, and Charlotte didn’t mind it one bit. From the alcohol and the sudden onset of emotions, Charlotte needed some quiet time to register what just happened.
After Jay kissed her one more time, he grabbed her hand and beelined it for the exit. Just before they made their escape, Charlotte connected eyes with Hailey, Kim, and the rest of their friends. Each of them hollered and cheered as they saw their two best friends happy again. Jay smirked and waved to them before they were out of sight.
Buildings blurred together as the pair drove down the streets. Luckily, Charlotte’s place was only a short drive away.
Charlotte could feel Jay’s eyes on her every once and a while, but Charlotte kept her eyes on the window.
She knew what was going to happen when they arrived at her apartment. It’s been almost four years in the making; she could cut the sexual tension with a knife. It’s not like neither of them were virgins, but this time it’s different.
It’s with him.
Her eyes moved off the window and watched Jay look at the road in front of them. He’s gotten way more attractive since the last time she saw him - how is that possible since it's only been seven days? She didn’t know, but he did.
He’s not like her previous boyfriends, not at all. He doesn’t rush her; he will be as patient as she needs him to be. He doesn’t care that she has had some fucked-up years; he’s had some fucked-up years himself. He doesn’t baby her, he tells her how it is, and while he doesn’t show his vulnerable side a lot, she knows he will if he wants to.
“What are you looking at?”
Charlotte snapped her eyes off him and back to the window. She could see his lips curve, and she felt heat rush to her face as she just got caught staring.
“It’s ok to look, you know. I am rather good looking,” Jay said, making Charlotte laugh. “You know, I am looking at you.”
Charlotte forced herself to look at him. He was smirking at her.
“Shut up and drive,” she said, sending out a smile of her own.
Jay laughed and reached over to squeeze her hand. Charlotte’s heart thumped hard.
She didn’t understand why she was so nervous. For god’s sake, it was Jay: The guy who makes her snort when she laughs; the guy who knows how to push her buttons just when they need to be pushed.
But he’s also the guy that gives her middle school butterflies. He’s the guy who has given her a chance to open up and let someone in again. He’s the guy who doesn’t care about the scars her past relationships left, mental and physical.
“Hey, you ok?”
Jay was looking at her again, and she realized that they were parked outside her building.
Charlotte smiled small and nodded.
Jay looked at her for a few more seconds before opening his car door and coming over to her side. Before she knew it, they were standing in Charlotte’s living room.
The moon was shining through the windows, and Charlotte turned on the small lights she had above her fireplace. Jay stood in the middle of the room, letting Charlotte make the first move. He watched as she started to play with the material of her dress. Charlotte felt the cool silk against her fingers, and she let out a breath.
She could feel the need for more wine, and she let out a small laugh.
“What’s so funny?”
Charlotte almost forgot Jay was in the room with her. Keyword is being almost. His cologne intoxicated her, leaving an imprint on her memory forever.
“I haven’t done this in a while,” Charlotte said.
Jay was confused; she could see it on his face.
“God, I feel like I am in middle school waiting to be picked last for volleyball.”
Her voice cracked. She could feel the tears in her eyes.
“The last time I was in this situation, the last time I felt this way, it ended badly.”
Jay frowned, his heart breaking at the sight in front of him.
“I know you said that it was fear pushing you away,” she said. “But it’s been here for so long, I don’t know which is which anymore. I feel trapped in this fear that I’ve grown accustomed to. I don’t know how to get out of it; I feel like I’m suffocating on stage in front of everyone, and I’m so close to letting it take me under.”
Jay moved so close to Charlotte that she could feel his shirt rub against hers. His hands cupped her face and gently wiped the tears that had fallen from her eyes.
“Don’t do this; don’t close on me,” he said. “If you go under, I’m coming right there with you. This past week has been torture. And when I saw you dancing with Kim and Hailey, smiling and laughing; there was nothing more I wanted to do than run up to you and kiss you.”
Charlotte let out a choked sob.
“I am so proud of you. You’ve grown so much since we first met, but I know the woman I fell in love with is there.”
“How? How can you tell?” Charlotte asked.
Jay smiled.
“Because I’ve seen her. When you thought no one was looking, that woman came out and shined,” he said. “She shined so bright tonight dancing so freely, and I don’t care if I have to dance for the rest of my life, I promise to bring that woman out for you to see.”
Charlotte was speechless. She stared at the man in front of her and felt her heart swell. She wracked her brain, trying to think of something half as good as that but nothing came close.
In a split second, her arms wrapped around his neck and pushed her lips onto his. Jay’s hands moved from her face and down her sides until they rested on her hips. His hands traveled down to her hips, and soon Charlotte felt his fingers gently caress her back.
It was getting heated by the second, and neither of them wanted to stop anytime soon.
“As much as I want to push you up against the wall and fuck you until you scream my name, I think that can wait until round two or three,” Jay said before placing kissing on that spot behind her ear.
Charlotte let out a small moan and tried to move even closer to him.
“What do you have in mind for round one?” She asked, looking up at him.
Jay’s eyes were half closed and filled with lust. His lips were swollen and covered in Charlotte’s lip gloss.
“Round one is where we move to the bedroom, and I can show you how good it feels to be treated like the queen you are,” Jay said.
Charlotte almost fainted right then and there. No one has ever said that to her before. Right then and there, she knew that this was about to be the best night of her life.
With no words spoken, Jay kissed Charlotte’s lips one more time before starting to move her down the hall to her bedroom.
Jay has been in Charlotte’s room before. Because of the close proximity to the precinct, her apartment was where the unit hung out most during off hours. Before Jay asked Charlotte out, just the two of them used to have movie nights all the time. She would want to stay in bed all day with him lying next to her, close enough to feel his body heat. It’s a wonder how Charlotte didn’t realize Jay had feelings for her then.
His mouth was on her neck, and she came back to reality.
“Sit,” Jay said gently, pushing her onto the edge of her bed. Charlotte’s face was flushed, and her breath was ragged.
“These need to come off,” he said, sliding his hands down her legs and gently grabbing her ankles.
Charlotte bit her lip and leaned back on her elbows as she watched Jay slowly slip her heels off.
His hands started to wander up her legs again, and Charlotte knew it was time to take off her dress. Letting out a breath, she pushed him off until he was sitting in the spot she was in originally.
“What are you doing?” He asked.
Charlotte didn’t say anything; she brought her fingers to her hair and took out the few clips that were holding her long brunette hair together.
Watching Jay watch her with that same look of lust on his face, Charlotte closed her eyes and unzipped her dress. With no straps and no bra, the dress easily slid off her body and onto the ground.
Charlotte shivered and opened her eyes. The lust was gone, and something else was spreading across Jay’s face.
She watched his eyes travel down her body, and when she saw his eyes stop on her stomach, her left hand flew to her right side.
“No,” Jay said standing. “Don’t do that; don’t you dare do that.”
He stood in front of her and took her hand off. Charlotte didn’t dare look down. She sees it every day; she knows what it looks like.
But Jay didn’t. He’s heard of it from her and seen it from afar, but not up close.
The scar started from her right rib and stopped a few inches above her thigh. It’s faded, but Jay can feel it when he runs his hands over it.
He knew how it got there. He knew how her ex-boyfriend took advantage of her and got away with it, leaving her something to always remember.
“I’m so sorry,” he said looking into her eyes.
He saw the tears forming, but Charlotte wouldn’t let them fall. She cried enough times over it, and now was not the time.
She didn’t answer him, but she smiled small. Tugging on his jacket, she signaled for him that it was time to discard his clothes.
Pressing his lips to hers for a few moments, he pulled away and started undressing.
His jacket hit the floor first. And then his shirt and pants. Soon, they were both just in their underwear.
Jay stood in front of her with a look of lust back on his face, and she felt it all the way to her core. He pushed her back onto the bed and kneeled against the plush white carpet.
She could feel his breath on her, and she let out a whimper when he pulled Charlotte close until her legs were over his shoulders.
“Jay,” Charlotte said.
He smirked and chuckled against her thigh.
“Yes, baby?”
Charlotte almost came just at the sound of his voice. Her hands went to his scalp and tugged on his hair.
Jay groaned.
“Please do something,” she said.
He didn’t say anything except let out another low groan. Suddenly, his fingers and mouth were on her.
Charlotte’s eyes closed and her back arched as she felt Jay’s fingers slowly enter her. It’s only been two minutes, and she could feel herself coming undone.
“Oh god, Jay,” she moaned.
Her hands pressed down harder into his scalp, and she felt her hips grind against his face. A string of moans left her as his stubble brushed against her, and soon his mouth was sucking on her clit.
“Come on, Char,” Jay said, releasing himself for a second. “Cum for me.”
Another press against her clit, and Charlotte lost it. Her hips bucked until she found herself coming down from her high.
Jay was above her again, just watching, when she re-opened her eyes. Green met blue, and he smiled.
“That was…” Charlotte started.
Jay chuckled.
“I know.”
She didn’t have enough energy to laugh, so she smiled instead. Grabbing his shoulders, Charlotte pulled him down until his body was on top of hers and she felt his lips on her face.
Her hands started running down his chest, feeling every line and definition of his perfect chest.
Charlotte bit her lip when she felt him through his underwear. Jay dropped his head into her neck and groaned. Her hand on him felt perfect, and he wanted more.
Forcing himself away, he stood up and quickly pushed off the last article of clothing. Her eyes widened when she saw how big he was. And she couldn’t help but think that, that is all hers now.
Something came over her, and Charlotte pushed Jay down onto the bed until he was laying in the middle of it. Crawling on her knees, she moved until she was right over his lower half.
“Charlotte,” Jay said before pushing his head into the pillows.
Her hand gently touched him, and she felt him stiffen under her touch. Slowly, she stroked him up and down, adding more pressure as she went.
Jay let out a long moan when her mouth lightly touched the tip.
“No, stop. Stop,” he said before pulling her off.
Charlotte was confused but pulled away.
“But I want to,” she said, moving for it again.
Jay’s hands flew out and fixed their positions until she was under him.
“I want you too, believe me,” he said, smirking. “But if you do that right now, I’m not going to last. I need to be inside you.”
Charlotte bit her lip and felt herself nod. Jay kissed her before leaning over to his pants on the ground.
“No. We don’t need one,” Charlotte said, stopping him. “I’m on the pill. Plus, I want to feel you. All of you.”
Jay groaned and went straight for her lips. His hands cupped her cheeks, and by the second, the kiss became more heated.
Charlotte’s hand reached in between them and started stroking him again. Jay cursed and leaned his head in the crook of her neck.
“Baby, fuck,” he said, placing a kiss on her neck.
Not saying anything, Charlotte guided his tip into her, and they both felt her walls clench around him.
“Oh god,” they both said in unison.
They both were still.
“Are you ok? Are you good?” Jay asked.
Charlotte could tell he was trying his hardest not to move, and that warmed her heart.
“I love you,” she said, placing a hand on his cheek.
Jay stared at her.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to realize, and I’m sorry that I hurt you. But I will never do that again; you can hold me to it.”
Jay leaned down until their lips were touching. As their tongues fought, he started moving in and out of her.
Charlotte was in heaven. He fit so perfectly and stretched her so well.
“Oh shit, Jay,” she moaned.
Jay groaned and sped up.
“Fuck, you feel so good,” he said.
Charlotte whimpered when Jay’s lips came in contact with her breast. Her breasts were sensitive already, so when she felt him bite her, she let out a small scream.
“Do that again,” she said.
Jay was surprised but did it again. And again, until he made his mark.
He could feel himself coming close, but he wanted Charlotte to be there too.
Reaching in between them, his thumb pressed down on her clit and smirked when Charlotte let out another scream.
“God, fuck. I love you,” he said, adding more pressure to her.
Charlotte snapped.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Charlotte said.
She gasped and her walls clenched around him before she felt him release inside her.
They laid still with Jay hovering over Charlotte watching her chest rise and fall.
She looked so beautiful, he thought.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said, smiling down at her.
Charlotte smiled and felt the heat rush to her face.
“Can we order a pizza or something? I’m starving,” she said, placing a hand on her stomach.
Jay broke out into laughter. Out of everything she could say, she says that, and he isn’t surprised one bit.
“Can I fuck you against the wall while we wait for it?” he asked.
It was Charlotte’s turn to laugh.
“I thought you’d never ask.”

31 for scream au from the hurt/comfort prompts!
31. "Don't look at them, look at me."
warnings: blood, death, horror film-typical violence
Jay couldn't even make himself blink while he stared at the blood on the wooden floor. Some of it was his, and if the pain was anything to go by, he was still adding to it. That probably should have been more concerning, but he was focused on everything else - like the body at his feet that had been on top of him only a few seconds before.
He wanted to move, wanted to keep running like he'd been doing all night, but he was tired. It would be easy to sit down on the ground again, to let the pain take over, to just rest while the threat was temporarily gone, or even join some of the friends around the house who would never open their eyes again.
But that wasn't an option.
A hand grabbed his shoulder and made him turn quickly, and he anticipated another knife. Maybe it would add to the wounds that covered him already, finally put him out of his painful misery. Instead, he was faced with clear blue eyes, frantic in a way that didn't match the calmness of the voice that came with them. And he couldn't even make his gaze stay there, not when the red all over the floor and the walls was so distracting, along with the limp uniformed body at the bottom of the staircase.
"Jay? Come on, we have to go." Greg, the person who had tried to stop the knife from getting to them at all, one of the only kids at the party still breathing. "Hey! Don't look at them, look at me. We have to move. There's a bathroom upstairs with no windows, and we can lock the door. Okay? Hurry, before the other guy wakes up."
He let a hand grab onto his and pull him along, to the side of the stairs that didn't have a dirty cop at the bottom of them. He saw a blonde blur only a few steps ahead of them, something that his eyes refused to focus on, but he knew what it meant. For the first time in hours, there was no immediate danger.
They were going to be okay.

Upstead Drabble Series: Her
Jay, Will, and Hailey go out for drinks, pre 8x11.
Word count: 395
AO3
“Jay!”
Normally, they’d be at Molly’s, but they wanted to go somewhere they wouldn’t have to worry about people they knew. Jay and Hailey were keeping their relationship close to the vest, and Jay wanted to catch up with his brother. He also wanted his girlfriend to come with them. The word sent a chill down his spine. Girlfriend. She was his girlfriend. It was a relatively new development in their relationship, but he’d known for years that she was the one. He just hadn’t said it out loud yet.
“What?”
Will laughed at his brother’s expense. He’d been trying to get his attention, but Jay’s eyes were cemented to a certain woman at the bar.
“Did you hear anything I just said?”
“Yeah, something about Natalie…?”
“Not even close.”
“Fuck off,” Jay chuckled, taking a sip of his beer.
His eyes drifted back to their initial target.
Will turned in his seat, following his eye line. Jay noticed the movement and looked at him again.
“I love her,” Jay’s words were earnest.
“I know.”
“What?”
“She’s all you ever talk about, you’re always together, the way you look at each other. You fit together.”
“She’s it for me.”
“I know.”
Jay shook his head, his features softening as he smiled.
“It’s been years, man. I can't get her off my mind. She’s -”
“Jay, I know. I’ve watched both of you stumble around each other for the past four years," he paused,  "Have you told her?"
Will didn’t need to clarify what Jay was supposed to have told Hailey. He dipped his head in response.
“Tell her, man. Just do it.”
Jay nodded.
“I’m happy for you, little brother. Really. You deserve it.”
Hailey made her way back to their booth. Plopping down beside Jay, his hand finding her thigh under the table, she shoved two bottles in front of Will and Jay, keeping one for herself. She knew Jay well enough to recognize the scrunch his face made when he was deep in thought. Her hand found his back, the cold from the bottle seeping from her hand to his skin, even through his shirt. Jay looked at her with such adoration in his eyes, and Will just smiled. Someone that didn’t know him so well might not have noticed, but Jay and Will both knew that Hailey saw emotion swimming in his eyes.

Request: I would love to see something Like IT’s Career day at school and Jay and Will come to teach about their jobs along with others. And Halstead's sister gets bullied. During the break of moving in between careers someone comes and beats her up in like the bathroom and leaves her there and no one notices her being gone untill the end of the day. (I kinda want like Fire, Med, and Pd to find her)
sorry if it doesn’t make much sense you can choose how to end it and stuff
I also LOVE your fics I can’t wait to see more❤️
Authors Note; Y’all really love the angst huh, gotta deliver,, and hopefully you enjoy this little drabble. Also, part of me really wanted to title this, 'big sister hugs' because I think that Hailey would be the best big sister and also give the best big sister advice.
warnings: private girls school (yes that's a warning), bullying, getting jumped (i guess?), hospital and injuries,, Jay and Will not knowing girl bullying and being stubborn, a very poorly written plot
Tumblr media
High school was not always easy, but you were comfortable at your school with your friends. That was until there was a security issue and Jay’s information got leaked. Your apartment, school, Jay’s license plate, everything that could be used to track him ended up in the hands of the ‘bad guys’. Jay and Will had broken the news to you that they were pulling you from your current school, and moving to another school closer to Will’s. A private girls school, the ones with the fancy uniforms and stuck-up kids who thought the law didn’t apply to them because they had money. You hated it. You had begged Jay and Will to let you stay, but there was no changing their mind.
The first week was hell, you knew no one. Starting in the middle of the year meant that everyone knew you were the new girl. You were enrolled under your mother's maiden name, for extra safety. It was weird not hearing your name followed by ‘Halstead’. After the first week was gone, you decided to stick it out until the problem with Jay blew over, by then, you could probably convince them to let you go back to your other school. Three weeks passed by and intelligence solved Jay’s leak.
“So,” You began on Sunday family dinner, “Now that the whole leak in PD is over…
Jay and Will shared a look from across the table.
You narrowed your eyes, “What?”
Will ran a hand down his face, “Listen…”
“You won't let me go back.”
“It’s a better school-”
“Better?” You spat, “How is it better? I hate it there!”
“It’ll get better,” Jay said, “You just need more time to adjust.”
“I don’t want to adjust-”
“We’re not pulling you out,” Jay said, “I know you're struggling right now, but you’ll make some friends and-”
“I can’t believe you.” You pulled away from the table, leaving your half-eaten dinner where it was and stomping off to your room. Jay stood to follow, ready to scold you for storming away and having such an attitude.
“Jay,” Hailey grabbed his arm, “Let her cool down.”
Tumblr media
Jay and Will didn’t budge on your school. You had gone from begging to bargaining with no success. Now you were giving them both the silent treatment. You knew it was immature and frankly ridiculous, but you were too mad to think clearly. Jay had already scolded you for not talking to him for the last week. You had ignored him.
Hailey was the only one you spoke too, because it wasn’t her fault that Jay was being stubborn. Even so, you didn’t tell her everything when she stopped by your room. Namely, the career day that was coming up. You knew telling her meant she would tell Jay. And Jay and Will had a terrible habit of embarrassing you at school. At your last school's career day, Will and Jay had come and talked for hours about their funniest stories. You knew if they came this time, your peers wouldn’t be as amused.
When career day did roll around, your dean stood in front of the school in the auditorium, introducing students and their parents. Your school was much smaller than your last one - something about smaller class sizes being better for learning - so the auditorium wasn’t fully packed.
Not everyone brought their parents, but the popular kids with parents who had good jobs came. Like the group of girls who hated you, who all brought at least one parent. Your dean invited students to the stage by class and then had the student introduce their parents. Your class was last, the biggest number of parents who had come. You were sat at the end of your class, mostly because you didn't have anyone to bring. Not that it bothered you.
“Next up, we have Olivia and her mom, Jen.”
Jen was a dentist, she spent 10 minutes explaining how her job worked and then opened for questions. There weren’t many, mostly a few questions from seniors about collages and other stuff.
Then it was Sophie, with her dad the Banker.
By the time the girls who hated you were called up, you were ready to fall asleep. No one here had an interesting job, most of the jobs were boring well playing jobs that you could never see yourself doing.
The main girl who didn’t like you was Madison. She wasn’t fond of how the teachers asked you for answers in class, not that you could do anything about that. Her friend group was made up of 5 or 6 girls who were seemingly lovely. All smiles and compliments around teachers but spread vicious rumors and lies when adults couldn’t hear. You had heard them speaking about you a few times, not that you cared. It wasn’t great to be the new girl with all the rumors, but you had banked on leaving the school before for long. Which, you knew now, wasn’t an option. So now you were stuck with the girls who all hated you for rumors or lies that you didn’t even know.
Madison brought her mum and dad with her, real estate agents who worked together selling multi-billion dollar houses. The whole time she had a smug look on her face. When she sat back down in her row, she turned in her seat, looking back at you.
“Didn’t bring anyone?” She asked.
You didn’t bother replying.
“Is it because your parents are coke addicts?” Her friend beside her pressed.
How that rumor even started you didn’t know, it was so absurd.
“Or is it because they’re dead?” Madison pressed.
You gave her a bored look, “I’ll take my family over your fraud family any day.”
Madison opened her mouth to bark something back, but was shushed by your teacher. She turned back to face the front, arms crossed over her chest. No doubt stewing in your words.
“We now have some guests to speak to you,” The Dean said through the microphone, “We reached out to some of our first responders and invited them to come speak to you too. Everyone please welcome Dr Asher and Dr Halstead from Gaffney Chicago Med.”
Will and Hannah walked to the stage, both in their Med scrubs with doctors coats on. Will was looking for you, you could tell from the way his eyes scanned the faces in the audience. You slumped in your chair, avoiding looking at him at all.
How did he find out? Did he and Jay find out somehow? Did your school contact them?
You really wanted to disappear now, your face was no doubt bright red by how much it was burning. You prayed silently that Will hadn’t told Jay, but you knew it was a useless prayer. If Will was here Jay would be too.
You got your answer when the dean explained that there were more guests outside on the fields. She ordered everyone to head that way, ushering students with promises of something ‘exciting’.
Outside, firehouse 51 had parked their rigs on the grass. 51 had their ladder extended, Mouch standing at the controls grinning like a champion. Not far from Mouch was Trudy, flanked by two patrol cars and their officers. Looking across the gathered first responders it didn’t take long to spot Jay and Intelligence. Their own cars were parked on the grass, the lights on. Everyone but Voight had their vests on, adding to the dramatic atmosphere already created.
Students huddled around, entranced by the cars and rigs which you had seen plenty of times. You tried to hide towards the back, but Kelly had spotted you and tried to usher you closer. You shrugged back at him, trying to make it look like you were stuck within the crowd.
“Firstly, we would like to thank Sergeant Trudy Platt and Sergeant Hank Voight, as well as Chief Wallace Boden for coming today. We are hugely appreciative to hear from you,” The dean spoke into a microphone, “Secondly, I want to ask students to be respectful, as these hard working men and women have taken time out of their busy days to come and speak to us. So we are going to listen and show respect. There will be time for questions and demonstrations at the end. Please Welcome Sergeant Trudy Platt.”
The crowd clapped as Trudy took the mic, but it wasn’t too enthusiastic. Trudy gave a similar speech to last year. Along the lines of what made district 21 special, intelligence and the hardworking patrol officers. She talked about fake calls and how breaking the law would wind you up in her cells etc. It was funny, a few quips earning laughs from teachers and parents. But you had heard it all before. You were dreading what the others would say. You didn’t want everyone knowing your brother was a cop, that would cause way too many issues.
So instead, you slipped away from the crowd, heading back towards the school building to hide in the bathroom.
You didn’t think anyone would notice, most people were paying attention to the speakers or interested in the rigs. You were wrong, of course, being followed almost immediately by Madison and a couple of her friends.
You got to the lockers before they announced themselves.
“What did you mean my parents were frauds, bitch?”
You turned around in fright, not even hearing them sneak up on you.
“I didn’t mean it,” You replied, “I’m sorry.”
You were, kind of. Mostly you were sorry that you had said it, because she genuinely seemed shocked. But this was Chicago, anyone with any money committed fraud, it was kind of the standard.
“I don’t care if you're sorry,” Madison snarled, she was taller than you so when she stepped closer you couldn’t help feeling intimidated. “What did you mean?”
“Madison-”
One of her friends pushed you hard against the lockers with a forearm over your collar, “Answer the question.”
You were by no means a confrontational person. Growing up, Jay always tried to teach you to talk out your issues, violence or fighting wasn’t a good solution. Will was the same, although both of them weren’t always the best at doing as they counseled.
“I just meant that,” You were panicking under the glare of all three girls, “You know, this is chicago and-”
“And what? Everyone is a criminal like your addict parents?” Madison got in your face again.
“My parents weren’t addicts,” You scoffed, now annoyed that she wouldn’t let that go.
“No?” The girl who was holding you back moved her arm further up your neck, pressing against your throat, “Then where are they?”
“If my parents were addicts, would you really think I'd be in a private school?” You pressed, “Use your brain for once, please.”
You should have known that would piss Madison off. She let out an annoyed scoff then pulled back her fist and punched your square in the nose. The force slammed your head back into the lockers, the sound echoing through the empty halls. The punch wasn’t hard enough to break your nose, but you would feel the blood start to drip down your lip. Madison shook her hand like she had taken more damage than you had.
“Want to say that again?” The third girl finally spoke up.
It was like they were all gaining confidence in the security of the three of them. When one of them said something the others would laugh and smirk.
“I don’t like bullies, you know,” Madison said.
God, the irony.
This time the punch came from the third girl, landing in your stomach. You didn't know her name, but she was on the volleyball team, so her punch was much stronger. Your body doubled over, arms crossing over your stomach as your lungs tried to fight your diaphragm for air. The arm holding you up was dropped, and your body fell to the ground as you tried to force yourself to take some deep breaths.
“This is what you deserve,” A girl said, before another blow landed on your ribs. The wind was knocked out of you again, causing you to cough and choke.
Madison crouched down to your level, “Bullies like you deserve to be put in their place.”
You didn’t have time to appreciate the irony this time, because she was kicking your head, hard.
Your body reacted on instinct, curling into itself to try to protect you from another blow that was sure to come.
“Hey!”
The three girls sprinted at the voice, running away from their actions.
“Hey, kid,” A hand on your shoulder made you flinch, when your vision cleared you realized it was just Kelly. He held his hands out to show you he meant no harm, then gently helped you sit up.
“You’re alright,” He said softly, steading you sitting against the lockers. You couldn’t even reply, focused solely on breathing through the pain in your head and side.
“I found her,” Kelly said into his radio, “North Hallway, bring a jump bag.”
Kelly gently touched the side of your face, tilting your head to look at the side you had been kicked.
“You still got that med kit in your bag?” He asked, knowing Kidd had taught you that in girls on fire.
“Yeah,” You said softly, your voice above a whisper.
Kelly ripped open your bag, rummaging through it until he found the small first aid kit. He was only after gauze, once he secured it, he ripped the package open and pressed the gauze to your head.
You winced, instinctively pulling away from him.
“I know,” He said, sitting down next to you so he could hold the gauze in place, “Sorry kid.
You both looked up as the sound of footsteps came running towards you. You might as well have been on fire, the entire house was rushing towards you. Jay and Intelligence were there too, Will and Asher running along beside everyone.
“This is overkill,” You said to no one in particular.
Kelly chuckled, shuffling so that Will could take his place next to you, “We’re all here for you, kid.”
Will replaced Kelly’s hand with his own, when Kelly pulled away you could see blood on his hand.
Jay croached on your other side, letting Will, Hannah and Brett take care of you.
“What happened?” He asked, looking over your bloody nose, head injury and the way you were holding your side.
You didn’t want to be known as a snitch, one glance behind your brother and you could see students being held back by teachers and 51. The school day was almost over, everyone would be gathering their things to leave. You hoped you weren’t in front of someone's locker who hated you, this would definitely make them hate you more.
You looked back at Jay, his eyes filled with worry, “What happened, squirt?”
“I, uh.. I fell.”
Will scoffed, “You fell?”
“Yeah, I’m clumsy,” You said.
“You fell and hit your nose and the side of your head?” Hannah asked, voice soft, “Are you sure that's the story you want to tell?”
Over her shoulder, Kelly was talking to Voight and Hailey. Hailey was pointing something out, a camera that was positioned above one of the classroom doors.
“Yeah,” You didn’t sound confident at all. But right now, you wanted to be anywhere but here.
Jay looked pissed, but he didn’t say anything. He got to his feet and stood out of the way as Hannah and Will helped you stand. They lead you over to the stair chair, despite your very vocal argument that you were fine.
Being wheeled through the crowd of students and their parents was the most embarrassing thing you had ever experienced. You passed by Madison at one point, who was leaning against her locker talking to her parents like nothing ever happened. You avoided looking her way, instead focusing on what Brett was saying about getting to the rig.
Outside the building things were less stressful and crowded. You managed to convince the four hovering adults that you could stand on your own to get into the back of the ambulance, even if you didn’t really think you needed one.
“I’m really fine,” You argued for probably the fifth time, “I think you're overreacting.”
Will sighed, running a hand down his face, “You are too stubborn for your own good,” He muttered.
Violet chuckled, “Just lay back, alright? You aren’t getting out of this, no matter how much you complain.”
She was right, but that didn’t stop you from pouting the whole way to Med.
At Med, Will hovered as Hannah stapled the laceration on your head. You weren’t too happy about the idea of being stabled back together, but Will had taken a photo of the laceration to prove you needed it.
“That’s so gross,” You said, pushing the phone away from you.
“That’s why you need staples,” Will explained, rolling his eyes.
Not long after Hannah had treated you and left you to rest, Jay, Hailey and Voight walked in.
“Are you doing alright?” Jay asked, hesitant to start another argument.
“I’m fine,” You repeated, “I don’t know why everyones making such a big deal.”
“You were attacked at-”
“I fell.” You interrupted.
“Y/N-”
“Jay.” You echoed in the same tone.
Jay's face flashed with irritation, he looked to Will for help.
“We know that’s not true,” Will said, giving you his best parental disappointed look.
“The whole thing was caught by the security cameras,” Hailey spoke softly, she was the only person in the room who knew what it was like to be a teenage girl in high school, “We just want to know what they said.”
You tried to come up with some kind of explanation that wouldn’t get anyone in trouble, but you came up short.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” You shrugged, avoiding eye contact with all of them.
Will leaned forward, he looked wary, “Listen, squirt, we want to help, but we can’t unless you tell us the truth.”
“That is the truth,” You argued back, crossing your arms definitely, “It’s not a big deal.”
“You’re in the hospital!” Jay gestured around, “What about this is ‘not a big deal’.”
You scowled, refusing to say anything else and just sitting silently.
Voight squeezed Jay's shoulder, “We’ll let her rest, come back later?”
Jay nodded, not bidding you goodbye as he stomped out of the room. You hadn’t seen him this mad in forever, you weren’t sure if this would blow over as easily as your other fights. Voight followed after Jay, he told you to get some rest then followed his detective to try to calm him down.
Will got up to leave too, he told you to rest and said he would come back soon. When the three left, it was only Hailey who stayed behind.
“I know you’ve been struggling at school,” She took a seat on the bed next to you, “I know what that’s like.”
You fiddled with your fingers, not wanting to admit she was right.
“You know what happened today wasn’t right,” Hailey continued, “Jay wants to press charges.”
“What? No! That’ll just make it wor…” You stopped yourself.
“Make what worse?” Hailey pressed.
You took a deep breath, trying not to get upset.
“Whatever is going on, I can help,” Hailey promised.
“You can’t get me out of that school,” You scowled.
“I think after today, that might be possible.”
You leaned back into the pillows. Dr Asher had given you some pain meds for your head, they removed the sharp pain and replaced it with a dull throb. You could feel it more as you got more upset.
“There’s this stupid rumor that my parents are addicts,” you explained, “Madison is always taunting me with it, saying that's why no one ever comes to parent evenings or teacher interviews…”
Hailey didn’t say anything, she just sat listening patiently.
“Before you guys came, she asked why my parents weren’t here and I said that I would rather have my family over her fraud one.”
Hailey nodded as she listened.
“It was stupid and as soon as I said it, I regretted it. When we were outside I went inside to go to the bathroom and Madison and her friends followed me… They, uh… Madison wanted to know why I said it and I apologized but she didn’t- she, she didn’t care and…”
Hailey got the cue, “Okay. It’s alright.” She pulled you into a gentle hug. “Everything’s going to be alright.”

Pretty Girl
I’ll be honest, it’s midnight and I can’t sleep so here you go!
I also didn’t really imagine Jay for this (it was actually Trevor Wagner lol) so I didn’t use any names but feel free to picture detective chuckles in your reading!
also, if you think it’s rubbish. I agree but what are we gonna do?!
*****
‘I cant believe I’m gonna text him’
You scoffed to yourself, eyeing the phone you held in your hand, thumb hovering over his name on your chat list on whatsapp. Almost daring yourself not to give into the desires you knew you craved and that he could so easily fulfil.
‘are you awake?’
You sounded like a foolish teenager, thinking that sounded better than the stereotypical ‘you up?’ at 3am text. Spoiler alert, it didn’t.
You almost threw your phone on the ground, it landing face up beside you as your knees were instinctively bought to your chest in panic, regretting sending the text as soon as you pressed send.
Almost instantly, the phone lit up. You could see it from the corner of your eye, reluctant to look down.
You peered over your arm, wincing as you read the message through squinted eyes.
‘Of course, darling’
Your heart melted, your stomach flipped, your heart rate quickened.
You promised yourself you wouldn’t feel this way.
He told you not to fall for him.
Yet what did you do, oh yeah.
You fell absolutely head over heels, 100%, life consumingly in love with him. Good one.
Mere moments had passed, you hadn’t unlocked the phone as you sat and mustered a response.
He hardly gave you much to go from, did you completely out yourself and admit why you messaged him or did you play it off with a simple ‘cool’?
Your phone once again, lit up in your hand. Your eyes darting to the screen without a second thought or hesitation as you scanned the words on the screen.
‘any particular reason you wanted to know, pretty girl?’
Shit, even through a screen he had you backed against a virtual wall. Making the hunger for him to have you actually pushed up against a wall, ten times more intense.
‘just wondered if you wanted to come over, cant sleep’
You laughed at the innocent sad face added to the end, feeling the complete opposite and knowing he would see through it.
The grey ticks turned to blue as soon as you sent the message, quickly exiting out of the chat as though you didn’t want to seem desperate.
Not like your phone was now stuck to your hand with your eyes not leaving the screen as you wait for his response.
‘Poor baby, not sure how I would be able to help though?’
You could practically see the smug grin on his face, arm folded behind his head to prop himself up against the headboard of the bed. Thumb dancing over the keypad as he probably typed out all the ways in which he could help, before deleting them as if nothing happened.
‘oh no!’
You yet again, sarcastically added the exclamation. Clearly having too much fun with the situation yourself now.
‘guess I will just have to try someone else’
Ordinarily you wouldn’t have sent such a text, you didn’t have anyone else you could ask, the ‘lucky’ bunch stored in your phone who you could text at early hours of the morning to come over.
Even if you did, you wouldn’t want anyone else. Just him.
You wanted to see how far you could push him, knowing the way his eyes would’ve darkened with reading the message.
Probably reading it a few times to ensure he read it right, phone clutched in his hand, bringing it up to his pursed lips in frustration.
It took a significantly less amount of time to yet again see ‘typing’, flash up next to his name on the chat. Your heart rate though the roof as you hear your phone chime.
‘darling you are funny, we both know you wouldn’t dare’.
You sat on his response for a minute or two, letting him sweat as he could see you’d read the message.
‘goodnight sweet cheeks’
You were proud of yourself for your blunt response, even if he didn’t reply, you’d sure be obscenely offended but you wouldn’t be shocked.
If he had sent you a message even close to that, the phone probably would’ve been launched across the room and loud groan that could’ve been heard from down the corridor of your apartment building.
The grey ticks, stayed grey for what felt like an eternity. In fact, you stared at the screen for 4 solid minutes, waiting.
You huffed, regretting your text. Had you ruined it? Took it too far?
He could be an annoying prick sometimes and knew exactly how to push your buttons, especially when it came to making you jealous but in all honestly you couldn’t imagine him sending you a message like the one you had sent.
The room was silent, you took yourself over to the mirror as if you needed to take a long hard look at yourself, but in actual fact you just chuckled. Grow up.
You needed to test him, needed to see how he felt. If he wanted you, he would.
Simple as that.
If you were going to keep falling for him, the least you could do was find out if you were both kind of on the same page, even the same book would be good!
You continued to stare in the mirror as you got ready for bed, accepting your defeat and pondering on how you’ll deal with such rejection on a clear mind in the morning.
Scraping your hair into a ponytail, you saw your phone light up on the bed. Seeing his name flash at the top of the screen with the green and red ‘accept’, ‘decline’ buttons staring you in the face.
You froze.
He knew you hated phone calls, especially when he hadn’t told you he was going to call. Prick.
Your thumb hit the accept button before your brain could scream at you to let it go to voicemail, holding the phone to your ear to hear that raspy voice you so desperately craved.
‘I’m outside, little one. You gonna come and let me in or should I try buzzing someone else?’

“Don’t,” Y/N warns Jay, knowing what he’s about to say as he takes her, a small smile making its way onto his handsome face.
“I wasn’t going to say or do anything,” he says defending himself.
She gives him a look reminding him that she knows him better than anyone else.
“I was just going to say you look incredible,” he says as he continues to take her in. She’s wearing the little black dress that she bought for her cousin’s wedding for their undercover operation.
With the smile still on his face and all the love he has for her in his eyes, he stands and moves closer to her. He places his hands on her hips as he leans in, kissing below her ear before he whispers. “And about how quickly I can get this dress off you later tonight.”

Baseball and Church
It was opening day for baseball today! I googled it and apparently it’s normally the first week of April rather than the last week of March, so to be more accurate I wrote this for being the first week of April. But it’s the same sentiment I guess! So enjoy a little Jay Halstead drabble about the first two weeks of April!
Baseballs and Church:
To Jay Halstead, the first two weeks of April hold a very special place in his heart for two very different reasons.
The first week is opening weekend for baseball and is one of the only fond memories he remembers with his dad growing up.
His dad would buy them Cubs shirts from the local Target on opening day since they were in school on that Thursday. Come Saturday, he would wake Jay and Will up early, they would raid the local dollar store for candy and popcorn, and they would head off to Wrigley Stadium. Despite living closer to Guaranteed Rate Stadium - the stadium the White Sox would play at - Pat Halstead chose to spend every opening day at Wrigley. Cause in his mind, they could watch a Sox game any weekend they wanted during Baseball season, but it was quite the special trip to go see a Cubs game. When they would arrive at the stadium, he and the boys would sit and watch the game. Anytime the take me out the ball game song would come on, Jay remembered his dad would sing it the loudest and jolliest and would sometimes throw Jay up in the air.
Despite being a busy detective for an elite unit, the first Saturday of April every year, he calls off work and heads to Wrigley Stadium to sit and watch the Cubs opening game! And if he still walks into a local Target to pick up a t-shirt and some candy than nobody has to know.
The second week of April holds a special place in Jay’s heart because its Easter aka his late mother’s favorite holiday. Growing up Catholic, Jay found himself frequently sitting in the pews of the hot church during Holy Week. He would stare up at the icons on the ceiling and kick his feet about - which always got him in trouble by his father, who probably also didn’t want to be there but since he was an adult didn’t have the luxury to sit and lallygag.
Despite not being Catholic anymore, every year Jay finds himself sitting through long church services every Holy Week just so he can be closer to his mom.

I accidentally unfollowed you when I went to your ask box, so ignore that, but congrats on 2.5k! Here's a gif for you, and maybe something fluffy but sassy with Jay? The reader is trying their hardest to be immune to his charms, but Jay's ease and sarcasm bend the reader to his will? Thank you :)

You were laughing at something Jay had said when you noticed him watching you.
“What?” You asked with narrowed eyes as Jay let out a small smirk.
A cute smirk.
You caught the thought just as it formed in your brain and you inwardly groaned.
Jay and you had always had this flirty thing going on but you’d been resistant. First, there was the rule you’d made up in your head that you weren’t going to date another cop. Then there was the fact that this wasn’t any cop, you’d reminded yourself a bunch of times that Jay and you worked in the same unit and that was always a recipe for disaster.
You thought Jay would have gotten tired by now but seeing him smile at you from where he was standing next to you, you’d known for at least the past week that it was a lost cause and that all the reasons in your head about why you weren’t together, or shouldn’t be together, were just excuses.
“You know you really should smile more.” Jay said, stepping just half a step closer to you again. “It’s like the second best thing you could do.”
“Oh, really? And what’s the first?” You countered, but you knew the answer already that was hidden in his smile and twinkling eyes.
Jay smiled. “How about I show you?”
You knew Jay was testing the waters and this time you didn’t step back or push him away playfully.
You saw a small flicker of confusion flit across his expression and you returned him an inviting smile.
“I give up.” You said in a low voice. “I’m not fighting what this is anymore.”
You saw his smile widen before he responded to the invitation, stepping in with no trace of hesitation, one hand cupping the side of your face before his lips landed right on yours. Your eyes fluttered shut as your body fit right into his, the electricity of the contact almost surging through your body.
When he pulled away, Jay was smiling. You didn’t say anything, merely echoing his smile as Jay threaded his fingers gently through yours, his eyes not leaving yours for even a second.

i’m the same as i was (it’s all okay)
just a little drabble because I’ve desperately needed to get an idea like this out of my system since 9x19 aired, and maybe it will get my writing juices flowing so I can work on a bigger project. an AU of the scene with Jay and Kevin at The Donovan, because I did not give Mouse rich parents to not make jokes about canon plotlines with them. it’s basically just a bunch of dialogue so I can get this thought out, not by any means an actual fic.
title taken from all my love by noah kahan.
“Why are you staring at those people?”
“Hmm...?”
“Jay. There are fifteen other rich couples here. Maybe don’t draw too much attention to us by only fixating on one.”
He blinked and pulled his eyes away from the table at the window, though not for very long, the familiar faces there not sparing him a single glance while he frowned to himself. He hadn’t moved from his spot leaning against the bar since he found it, oddly comfortable despite the fact that the last time he’d been in that building had been almost a decade before, and it had been a very miserable experience. “Right. Sorry. I’m paying attention.”
“I hope so. We’re supposed to be working, here, man.”
“What did I miss? When I was, you know, totally paying attention.”
“The kid’s getting us the security footage so we can bring it back to the district and- You’re still staring.”
“What? No, I’m not.”
“You are. That’s super rude, by the way, and you’re probably going to make them angry.”
“Good.”
“You know what? I don’t want to know what you have against all these rich people. I’m going to go back to working. I won’t tattle on you for screwing around.”
I don’t have anything against all these rich people. Just them.”
“Keep your weird drama to yourself. I don’t need to be dragged into it.”
Jay hummed a non-committal response, his gaze shifting over to the door when the bell rang to signal it opening. The new arrival was another familiar face, another pair of blue eyes that didn’t even look in his direction, too focused on making over to the table by the window. Not that was any of his business.
“I didn’t know Mouse was back in Chicago.”
“You have to know what articles to read.”
“So, when you said Gerwitz, you meant...?”
“Yup. Those ones.”
“Are we going to go say hi?”
“You’re welcome to. It’s probably for the best if I stay over here.”
“Does that have anything to do with why you’ve been staring at their table for the last ten minutes?”
“They hate my guts. The feeling is mutual. It’s old news.”
“Okay, well...” Letting out a slow breath, Kevin’s voice was careful when he spoke again, the topic making it clear exactly why. “We’re looking for someone here that could have been running tech for our guy, right? Someone with those connections and computer know how. I hate to say it, but I think we’re looking at a pretty good lead.”
“Yeah. Unfortunately, I think you’re right. Just... let me do the talking.” Still frowning, Jay pushed himself away from the bar to stand up straight. It put him in the right position to walk forward, his badge hanging around his neck in full view while he approached the table.
The movement drew three pairs of eyes toward him, and only one of them held any level of recognition, along with a little panic. It made sense, considering the emotions rolling in his stomach, the angry heat that had lived there any time he thought of the people in front of him for so long. Before he even made it close enough to say anything, Mouse was getting up again, trying to put his body between his parents and his friends.
“Jay, don’t-”
“To you, right now, it’s detective. Do you a minute to answer a few questions for us? We’ll try not to take too long.”
"Really? You’re staging this like a case? That doesn’t make it better.”
“We have reason to believe that someone who frequents this establishment is involved in the murder we’re investigating. Specifically, someone with computer skills. You happen to fit that description very well, Mr. Gerwitz. So, can we have a minute to ask you a couple questions before you get back to your afternoon?”
There was a beat of quiet, heavy with a kind of defeat in the air, and he almost got a response before they were interrupted by a voice he’d very nearly managed to forget the sound of.
“Gregory, dear, don’t answer a single one of this officer’s questions until we call the lawyer. What did you say your name was again? I’ll get your superior on the phone while we’re at it.”
Jay bit his tongue to keep from snapping back at her, putting on his usual neutral expression he employed specifically for the interrogation room. “I was barely an officer the last time we were here, Thelma. I made detective years ago. And I thought we established even before then that I’m perfectly capable of looking after your son even when you won’t.”
“Oh. Halstead. It’s you.”
“Yeah, that’s kind of the greeting I was anticipating.”
“Okay.” There was no hesitation, this time, a hand grabbing him by the arm to pull him toward the door, and he went without putting up a fight. “Let’s go before you cause a scene.”
“I’m not causing a-”
“You’re either using a fake case to try to cause a scene, or you’re using a real case to try to cause a scene, and I don’t know which is worse.”
“She started it!”
“We can’t have one good meal in this place without any trouble, can we? Seriously, Jay, it’s not funny.”
The sun was bright when they stepped outside, and he frowned while glancing back over his shoulder. The door to the club closed, and they weren’t anywhere private, but it was actually just the two of them in their space for the first time in more than five years.
“I’m not trying to be funny.”
“Great, because I was already running late and getting shit for it. So can I go back to lunch, please, before I actually can’t come back here ever again?”
“That depends. Do you have a minute to answer a couple of questions about the case I’m working?”
“Oh my god...”
“What? Suddenly I’m not allowed to do my job?”
“You just antagonized my mother in public!”
“As opposed to doing it in private? No. We’d have fewer witnesses when I have to defend myself.”
“Yeah, that’s why we came out here before you started throwing punches.”
“I wouldn’t have thrown punches.”
“But you were prepared to. If the situation called for it.”
“Well, sometimes, your mother calls for it.”
“I’m well aware that you aren’t her biggest fan, Jay. I’m not, either, but I’m kind of trying to stay employed, and keep a roof over my head, and right now, that involves putting up with lunch here once a week. Believe me, it’s awful, and I hate it, but at least I can keep the discussion away from my love life when it’s just me on the other side of the table.”
“Right, because it’s somehow my fault that they jumped to conclusions last time.”
“That’s not what I said, and you know it. And we both know you weren’t just doing your job in there.”
“Well, no, I wasn’t just doing my job. Antagonizing your mother added a little fun to the whole murder thing we’re trying to solve. Even you have to admit, the look on her face when she realized it was me was kind of funny.”
“It wasn’t-”
“Not even a little bit? She did the lip thing, right? Like she was trying to hold back a comment about us again. That was pretty funny.”
“Stop it. I can’t laugh right now. I’m mad at you.”
“No, you’re not. I just gave you the perfect opportunity to get out of a shitty lunch with your parents. There really is a case, you know. And I know you had nothing to do with it. But they don’t know that I know that.”
“How does that get me out of lunch?”
“Say you’re coming down to the district so we can hold you while you wait for your lawyer. You did just put your hands on a detective, and my badge was very visible. You can help us solve the case, while you’re at it.”
“...everyone’s going to make fun of me for wearing a suit. I just got out of a meeting like half an hour ago.”
“Yeah, I think Kev was already taking pictures to send back to everyone. It’s too late to be embarrassed.”
“I hate you so much.”
“You can keep complaining in the car. Do you want me to put you in cuffs to play it up?”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, detective.”
“Good to see you haven’t changed a bit, Mouse.”

Upstead Drabble Series: Take A Hint
I turned my shit load of WIPs into drabbles. Now, I have a shit load of drabbles, so I’m turning them into a series. This is part one. I have seven more for the moment. I do plan on writing more. Please, please, please let me know if you want any of these made into full length fics.
I started writing this one forever ago, and then ended up adding an other hundred or so words after I read this prompt list from @leneemusing
Word count: 742
 AO3
Molly’s was owned and operated by firefighters. For the most part, you’d find other firefighters, cops, and various clinicians roaming around. Jay and Hailey knew most of the faces, even if they couldn't put names to all of them.
Jay, Hailey, Will, and Stevie were packed around a table in the back. When drinks ran short, Jay offered to get another round. Getting up from his seat, he kissed Hailey’s forehead before attempting to squeeze through the Friday night crowd.
He made it about halfway to the bar when a tall and thin brunette woman bumped into him.
“Oh, my God. I’m so sorry!”
“No problem. Excuse me.”
Her fingers wrapped around his arm, “Hey-”
“Yes?” glancing between her hand on his arm and her face, he turned back to her.
“Why don’t you buy me a drink, and we can get to know each other?”
“Not interested.”
“Hey baby, why not?”
Jay wasn’t sure if the woman was drunk or just horribly straightforward. Either way, he was growing frustrated.
“I’m very happily married. Excuse me,” Jay huffed, finally being able to squeeze past the woman.
Returning to the table, Jay sat the beers down. But instead of sitting down again, he stepped behind Hailey’s stool and tossed his arms over her shoulders, letting his hands dangle in front of her. Despite their normally more reserved attitudes, Hailey didn’t say anything. She kept her attention on Stevie and Will and their conversation. She reached her hand up, placing it under Jay’s and lacing their fingers together causing him to grin and relax a little further.
Will clocked the gesture and his brother’s reaction. A grin of his own crossed his face. He was thrilled that his little brother finally found someone that made him so happy. Lord knows he deserved it. He and Hailey both did.
Jay stayed with his arms draped over his wife’s shoulders for a good fifteen minutes. Eventually, he sat down beside her again, but his hand found her thigh under the table. This was the first time he’d been hit on so blatantly since they’d gotten married, and he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the woman.
Jay hadn't really let go of Hailey the rest of the night. Even though he was the one being hit on, the whole thing made him feel a bit possessive.
By the time they left Molly's, it was just after 1AM. The street was desolate and cold, only a few cars scattered along the curb. After years of unintentional practice, Jay and Hailey walked in time, their fingers twisted together.
"Hey," Hailey stopped, tugging at Jay's hand, "What's up with you? I mean, not that I mind, but you've been attached to me, literally, and that's not like you."
They stood facing each other in the midst of the sidewalk as he looked down at her, groaning before bowing his head, "Some woman asked me to buy her a drink when I went up to the bar."
She nodded, "So?"
"I didn't like it."
"Ok… Jay, help me out here."
"No one else is ever gonna have a chance with me. You’re it. You’re all I want."
Her hand found his cheek, "Jay, I know. I know that."
"Can I kiss you?"
She smiled, tucking her lips between her teeth. She found it adorable that he still asked. He'd had gotten into the habit when they were keeping their relationship under wraps. They weren't the kind of couple to hang all over each other in public, even now that they were blissfully wearing matching black bands.
Hailey nodded, and Jay leaned in.
His lips grazed the corner of her mouth before kissing her properly. He tasted the whiskey she'd been drinking, and welcomed the heat and familiarity of the taste that was only her. He cupped the back of her head before angling impossibly closer to her. His tongue brushed across the seam of her lips, coaxing them apart.  She felt the cool air of the night pass between their open mouths and against her rosy cheeks. If there was a wall anywhere nearby, Jay would've backed Hailey into it. Their lips moved in tandem. She found herself digging her fingertips into the fabric of his jacket, forceful enough for him to feel it through the material.
She forced herself away from him just enough, "Jay," her eyes flickered between his eyes and his kiss swollen lips, "Take me home."
