asian on both sides, himalayan-south asian and vietnamese mix. doesnt believe in gender, i like various hcs where hes gnc amab or afab it doesnt matter to me though i usually depict a transmasculine michael. Socially inept but has a burning desire to make more friends in an attempt to strengthen the Goth circle/community, but sucks at making new friends truthfully. autistic, schizophrenic. grows up to be a 6'6 giant that hits his head on doorways and has to hunch a lot. ace/grey and holds a secret undying love for pete but would rather cut his throat out than ever confess it. He channels it in poetry, song lyrics, and music. THE INFO DUMPER OF THE GROUP Gothness is almost a special interest to him and he knows way too much on the subject, comes off as a pretentious know it all but it comes from a genuine place of love and interest. Genuinely beautiful singing voice and a good musician. Grows up to be a professor either in theology or philosophy (so he can be a certified know it all of course). he def grows into his features as he grows up and becomes pretty beautiful as an adult, but Michael never cared for conventional standards of beauty or how he fit into it. Henrietta was Michaels first goth friend but he prior attempted to be close with those in the asian communities of south park, it didnt really work out since he was always an outsider. The only fairly close nongoth friend of his was the DDR kid from the dance off episode. Has general anger issues!!!

the sensitive one

Japanese but he doesnt know much about his family. I like to think hes also just Japanese or mixed with something but doesnt know what that side is yet. raised by his grandparents and aunt or something, but probably has a single dad that is constantly working so he didnt spend that much time with him. Grew up very poor and romanticized simple things+older things and enjoyed daydreaming more than anything. Musically inept and sounds like a dying bird but the goths never shoot him down for it, except maybe Henrietta because shes allowed to. Visually artistic, paints surrealist/fine art pieces and makes crafts on ocassion. Insecure in his gothness and in himself and as a result he barks back the most at others. probably 5'3 forever, acne all over, nails bitten to hell, lips too, probably thin hair and kind of lost as to what he wants to do in the future--but he cooks pretty well out of survival which lands him a line cook job later on. hes a romantic and loves romantic era literature, much to everyone's ('Cept Michael..) dismay. Michael was the one to recruit him and all the goths pitched in to buy Pete new clothes and to live at least aesthetically somewhat happier than he was prior. Pete recruits Firkle later on additionally but all the goths have a hand in making sure he grows up with the right ideas. Pete doesn't necessarily have anger issues but hes deeply insecure and easy to react so he comes off as the hotheaded one in the group, when in truth Michael and Henrietta harbor far more internal anger issues.

Considering he never got a break from his overthinking mind and the events happening throughout his life, it would be understandable if he despises someone disturbing him while he rests, which by that i mean reading. It's probably worse if someone were to disturb him when he's angry.

Hobby: Reading

Reading helps to distract his mind, especially if he's stressed or not in the right mindset. Besides, he gets to learn more about the world he's currently stuck in.

Talent: Sixth Sense

He was gifted a unique ability the day he was born. Never missing a step on every task given to him and being aware of danger beforehand were all thanks to it. Though just like every person with this strong sensation of being able to see things, his mostly relied on vision and instinct. His sharp instinct also helped him carve a path to his life goal: becoming a professional boxer.

As much as people glorifies having this 'gift', his everyday life only became hell as he grew older. He became pessimistic and insomniac over the years for the sake of preparing for the worst each time the sensation kicks in. Pushing them away almost never works because the more he ignores them, the more he loses his mind, overthinking and imagining worst case scenarios, hence resulting in a panic attack. The only time he managed to ignore his 'gut feeling' was the day before he was mysteriously transported to Twisted Wonderland.

A side effect to this ability is not being able to tell between common anxiety/excitement and sensing danger as they both have similar or if not the same symptoms. Getting distracted by other thoughts will also refrain Skye from being able to use his ability.

Ever since he was transported to the Twisted Wonderland, his ability somewhat 'twisted' and adapted to this unknown place, and hence the visions he saw every night was confusing to him. And being able to see the visions clearer also means having quality sleep so he has no choice but to force a routine to sleep well.

Appearance

He may seem average, but thick layers of his school uniform had covered his apparently toned physique, which he built up over the years after learning to wrestle. He has pale skin and a few moles scattered around his face, one being the shape of an upside down heart. He has lavender fading to steel blue, long and slightly wavy hair, with bangs covering half of both eyes. He hasn't cut his hair for a very long time and probably will never cut it.

He wears his NRC uniform neatly. It includes a grey vest with golden lining, specially customized to fit with Ramshackle Dorm's theme. He wore a dormitory armband, the shape of a bow with black and white stripes, though the inspiration was taken from Grim's ribbon. He used the same ribbon for his hairband, which is the shape of a bow as well.

Personality

His facial expression alone says enough what kind of a person he is; a not so bright, quiet guy who just wishes to get out of this place as soon as possible. Though he doesn't mind lending a hand for every task given by Crowley or if his fellow Heartslabyul mates get into trouble for the hundredth time, ignoring an unnecessary request is something he'd often do.

When people say he's ruthless, they meant as in 'being brutally honest'. He won't sugarcoat or refine his words in a more passive-aggressive tone, he just straights up tell you his opinions and thoughts which most of them are usually negative. Its no wonder to why he can't have friends.

He genuinely enjoys company but doesn't show it. It's difficult for him to make friends because of his unfriendly attitude, but i suppose a few competitive lads would take the challenge.

Powers And Abilities

Having a natural unique ability isn't the only thing he has up his sleeves. Considering he's been trained to boxing almost his entire life, self defense is no problem to him if it doesn't include magic.

Background

A depressed boy going to Uni, and living with his older sister in Edinburgh, Scotland. Feeling disconnected from people around him, Anakin, a 5 months old kitten was his only friend. Skye's father passed away from a car accident during his 14th birthday, and his mother still held him accountable for his death. If he had stopped him from going out that day, maybe things would've been different.

Skye used to be a school bully, from both primary school to middle school, though it was mostly just him wanting to fistfight with anyone since the training with father wasn't enough. Even though he broke multiple school rules, he was still pretty caught up with his academics. It was until the age of 14 he stopped picking fights due to the recent loss of his father. You could say he was too depressed to do anything, even moving was a heavy task. After a few months, he came back to school but slightly different. He wasn't as chaotic or energized anymore, but he still would pick fights only if the person starts the argument.

His relationship with his mother is rather rocky, and also distant. She still blamed him for her husband's death, as he was their 'fortune teller'.

His depression and anxiety had led him to have sleepless nights, even if he was tired, he chose not to sleep due to feeling uncomfortable and prefers to overwork himself with uni assignments and nigh shift jobs. But on one particular night after work, his body was weak so he decided to lie down, took a last deep breath and closed his eyes before falling deep into the void of quietness and peace. The first time in years, he was finally able to sleep well.

The peacefulness didn't stay long, as he was disturbed by loud bangs and thuds. That's when he decided to burst out of what it seems to be a coffin, and realizes he'd been brought to another location, or perhaps another universe. Why? And how? We'll find out soon enough.

Ace Trappola- After the amount of times he's dragged Skye into trouble, they eventually got along. Even close friends, perhaps. He won't hesitate to punch Ace in the face if he annoys him though.

Deuce Spade- I suppose one thing they have in common is that they were both ex-bullies. Still chaotic, but at least he's much more tolerable than the cat and the red-head.

Grim- Still irritated by Grim's recklessness, but sometimes treats him like a baby as much as he treats Anakin like one.

Dire Crowley- Despite his irresponsibility and arrogance, Skye still sees him as a father figure, solely because he reminded him of his deceased father.

Jack Howl- Respects him as his wrestle buddy. Also likes the fact he isn't the only person who feels the need to be direct and not sugarcoat anything. Also woah fluffy tail.

Cater- Pretty-I Mean Bitch boy. Skye finds Cater very annoying because he won't shut up about magicam trends and internet slangs. He does pity him for his desperation for attention though, lad must've been neglected so bad.

His eyes are somewhat luminescent, which means they work as personal flashlights. (joke)

He often kept his visions a secret for the sake of wanting to see shit going down, only if its not dangerous that is.

Y’all wtf I just finished Hungry Hearts Neo I can’t believe this shit is over

What do I do with my life now

I am filled the beautiful tragic baggage of three games worth of characters and I don’t know how to handle it

Okay but seriously the Hungry Hearts trilogy is some of the BEST mobile games I’ve played in a while. I normally don’t like idle games but the pure heart, serenity, and general world of the trilogy is something that just always makes my day better. I was never too miffed to let granny rest for a while and come back later to serve and listen to my customers once more like I usually am with the nature of idle games.

The ways character’s stories intertwined with each other, the lessons they learned, the insight that was brought to them before your very eyes, the heartbreaking and heartfelt realizations, the specialized food requests filled with earnest and meaning, Grannys OWN narratives and conflicts she works through, SO FULL OF LOVE (seriously, this game made me cry several times)

Not to mention the art style that stays consistently GORGEOUS every game, the music although simple remains classy and calming, the food looks like the tastiest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life

As a child of an Asian household, who has been privy to SEVERAL of the dishes shown in the games throughout the years, the food brought an immense amount of nostalgia with it as well. Every dish I cooked, I could almost taste the very thing on my tongue, the pork cutlet dishes and spam musubi being two of my highlights as well as two of my favorite dishes in real life (which, obviously).

Yes there were ads that got on my nerves sometimes, but I honestly didn’t mind too bad (I loved these games enough that I didn’t mind gritting my teeth for a few seconds to support them). Also the ad rewards of either a rush or max energy refill was 100% worth the quick ad watch.

I learned to adore each and every character within the three games, their stories slowly unraveling with each and every meal. I of course adored the characters that kept coming back, like Mr Jizo, Officer Hiro, lovely little Mabo (who we watched grow up with tears in our eyes), and Dr Mondo (who was missing from the second game which was agonizing to me while playing it).

My favorite characters being probably Dr. Mondo, Mabo, Slick, Scarlett, Grimm, Sapphire, and Fudeko (apparently my type is hot women in colorful dresses and suspicious men along with a small child and tragic backstory doctor thrown into there for fun)

The perfect model of a quaint little town (or at least quaint little section of town) in 1970s Japan a few decades post WWII (in some customer stories, you find remnants of the effects of WWII on Japanese citizens), the games have the perfect vibes DOWN TO A TEE.

Overall though, I love the Hungry Hearts trilogy SO DANG MUCH and it makes me so sad to see so little love for the games online. Seriously, if you love calm vibes, heartfelt storytelling, gorgeous art, and even if you don’t love those things, PLAY THESE GAMES ❤︎❤︎❤︎

Appearance and Personality

Appearance: Ember is known for her slender female body build but it rather of a normal female body build. Before the abduction for the experiment, she originally had light blush red colored hair and it was short to her neckline as a human being. But after the experiment and her escape her looks changed, her hair then turned into chantilly lace white colored hair and in addition of gaining rabbit ears after infected. Before as a human, she has tart red colored eyes but still has it after turning infected but her pupils were the only difference. Ember is known for her silent behavior but she looks rather serious for her mood.

Personality: Before her current state of being, Ember used to be normal, as a human being, not a humanoid rabbit actually. Within her town that she was born into alongside with her younger sister, there rather yet a simple happiness in it for her and nothing more... Ember used to be calm yet busy for her age as an older sister.

That is... Till she had reached age 14, when a large group of abductors came in as many within the two were taken one after another for one night, turning the peaceful town into a destroyed ghost town, this resulted the town folks including herself and her family imprisoned within a very large laboratory that is considered to be a jail center location that is... Far from the town she used to be in.

Those peaceful days were turned into hellish memories, many were experimented but couldn't survive the virus infection... Many screams, cries of agony and pleads, worst of seeing many laid before her on the floor bleeding and couldn't move, she seen it all in her cell cage as she witness them taking her two only parents to the operation table. Ember was losing it all... As months passed, her sister was next... This time, she heard news that the experiment on hee was a success. Something snapped in the older sister, something that should have been done for in the first place ever since day one of her imprisonment.

Within those moments were... Escaping her cell, Finding her younger sister, and attempting to escape the lab with her... The finale? Failed and got captured as the last one.

But... Then survived but became an infected as well but... Her deepest rage that she kept in had lashed out as she alongside with her sister escape. Meeting her master was somewhat of a fate after a few days, though it may turn her into a wanted though but it didn't matter to her... Because avenging her many losses is the only thing to do now that she and her sister were now alive.

The current Ember we are nowing seeing in the present went from calm and quiet to become quite serious and a little bit stern to her surroundings after becoming an infected and a survivor with her younger sister. Despite the traumatic events that Ember went through to survive after becoming a wanted target, be surprise that she is still sane after the whole issue, seeing her meaning that there still bits of humanity in her.

Despite her appearance has changed (additional of having bunny ears), Ember is a little social to others but not very much at leastwise with anyone she sees. Though she can be rather blunt and just straight out having a blank expression at the bit least of it, but can give a response normally. According to her younger sister, Ember is mostly quiet and doesn't give much too much reactions from herself.

This bunny may look like a bunny however thanks to what she been through may get to think twice till what's coming next. After becoming a wanted target and also an escape lab subject, Ember had became feared and intimidating at anyone to the full core of her veins, thanks to her master's teachings of rather a tough kung-fu, she can defend herself but with brutality if you dare to consider her as a enemy but once a fight starts, anyone's who is a threat to her and her sister are long dead gone.

Revenge for her mass losses is her current option for now, but she still needs to enjoy life as vengeance will come soon at her stead.

-The name 'Ember' is a British name that means Spark; Burning low. Fan the flames of baby's future with this striking name. While her surname 'Frostine' is girl's name of French origin meaning "freezing".

-She's based on 'Bloody Bunny' from the game 'Bloody Bunny, First Blood' and Series 'Don't be my enemy'.

-Ember seems to know how to cook food for herself and for her sister during their days of survival, but she's more on baking than cooking. Her sister Chione often helps her with it.

-Is really good with math, especially her solutions.

-Is in fact intrigued with horror novels, and still is.

-Before becoming an infected, she was previously in a taekwondo then went to karate classes for self-defense, it was recommended by her father. But her skills increased thanks to her master.

-According to the creator, she has the most virus cells than her younger sister in her body and veins.

-During her days as a wanted target, she and Chione then met Daniel and his group. Although both sisters and his group weren't in good terms which caused a great misunderstanding at one another. But then, both sides became neutral in the aftermath, well less likely for Ember and Daniel though.

-It's slightly possible that Ember and Daniel can be together as a ship, but it isn't so sure.

-Is used to being called as a 'Bitch' often from anyone, but gets annoyed if she get called as 'Daniel's Bitch' from Kassie herself.

I'm cackling coz I feel like there's kinda a simplified one-to-one in terms of TMNT and the batbros -- Leonardo is Dick, Raph is Jason, Donatello is Tim -- until you get to Mikey and Damian, but I'm losing my shit at the idea of these two being secretly similar. I know it's not that simple and they're all individual characters with personality overlaps in different areas, but I am still cackling 🤣

Lol, Raph is who fanon fandom thinks Jason is, but I digress 😌. Damian and Mikey both have cats and enjoy drawing so there's that. Also, Damian and Mikey might actually find a common interest in manga. I mean, Damian canonically likes manga. Mikey is more of a comic book fan from what I remember. But! I have this feeling that lingers. Hovering over me as I guilt-trip and shame my way through another day. I still shame myself about waking up early because then maybe I could 

“accomplish more”, but then taking a nap. The self-hatred and disgust that I carry is like the daunting shine of some luminescent tar in my lungs; it weighs heavier than I’d care to admit. 

Mentally, as I’ve gotten older, I would like to say that I have gotten a hold of a healthy and successful routine, a working medication regime, and happiness in all of my relationships. That I’m doing great. But what I really am, is a fucking liar. 

I was given a daily journal by my mother-in-law this last Christmas: the front writes, “intentions and reflections. Daily prompts to help you start with an intentional mind and end with a grateful heart.” As I am sitting in my garage on the worn-down greyish-blue free-ish couch that my little cousin found from Facebook, my Acer Chromebook on my lap, I have come to an epiphany. 

I am so fucking mean to myself.

And yet, here I am. Still engaging in these everyday intentions and reflections (well… when my undiagnosed ADHD wandering mind doesn't get in the way), and I feel like I’ve come out of a fog. 

Bipolar disorder does that to a woman. 

Anyway, the prompt that triggered this reaction writes: “What did I do well today?” Such a simple question one would think at first, but for me personally, it brings forward a lot of negativity for me because it shows how much self-hate and lack of forgiveness I give myself because my mind immediately goes to all of the things I didn’t accomplish today. And my to-do list with only three tasks highlighted in a condescending bright orange as the dark green ink of my lack of accomplishments looks blankly back at me. At first, I think that I did not one single fucking thing right today. But then I look a little closer: heighten the magnetism of my perspective and I can see that I: brushed my teeth, washed my face, took a shower, drank water, ate food, had a coffee, journaled, stretched, went for a walk, stayed sober (4 days today!), got some reading done, and also cleaned a little. I’m doing well today.

I love to see the integration of how the title of a song can bring components of literature in by the use of the capitalization in these specific song titles that are meant to bring out a certain emphasis on some reaction or interpretation.

🌸 Senses and other oddly specific headcanons.

1. What does your muse smell like?

Lightly of sakura blossoms, but also chemicals, and on occasion smoke and blood. She really would prefer not to smell like anything except for the first one, but it comes with the job…that and wearing perfume is not good for work, but also it tends to irritate her burn scars too by drying them out ://

2. What do your muse’s hands feel like?

Depending on where you’re touching on her hands it depends. The burned parts are gonna feel coarser but the unburned parts are pretty…soft. Smooth. I’d say the most notable things about her hands outside of the burns is that she does have calluses on her fingers since she uses pens and pencils a lot for both work and for her art. You might also find a few papercuts/bandages on her fingers too :’D

3. What does your muse usually eat in a day?

The staple is medium-grained white rice, which she gets from her asian supermarket in like a huge bag- the shopkeeper always asks her if she can carry it all by herself ^^’ her rice cooker (pink with flowers of course!!) is also her best friend here

But generally since she doesn’t have a ton money to spare, most of her meals are home cooked…lots of seafood and Japanese snacks on the side and of course, if she’s too lazy to cook, she’ll go to a classic- instant ramen with an egg and some vegetables :’D

4. Does your muse have a good singing voice?

It’s average. When she goes to karaoke, she’s more likely to be noted to have a cute voice…:/

5. Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks?

Does the paper thing count? FJLSDJF well that’s her main one, being both a ‘habit’ ( good or bad is really up for the other person to determine because suki considers it a good thing :’D ) and a ‘nervous tick’ since she’s never been the best at just…being a normal sociable person and if she doesn’t have something to do with her hands, she’ll get restless…and that growing up she had been bullied a fair bit so she needed to find something to do to occupy the times meant to be for ‘socializing with peers’

6. What does your muse usually look like / wear?

At work it’s normally dress pants with a nice shirt/a sundress beneath her lab coat…usually the clothes are pink though!! the main commonality with all of her clothes though in her main verse is that they’re all long-sleeved, meant to cover up as much skin as possible, even if she would like to branch out of that...she does have a rather feminine fashion though ( think skirts and sundresses cute hair accessories ) that only grows more elegant as she gets older.

7. Is your muse affectionate?  How much?  How so?

hmmmm i don’t actually think so in a traditional sense. she tends to be very straightforward and austere about her emotions and thoughts as she has a ‘go, go, go’ mindset and being affectionate aka pda and giving sweet words in her words goes against that...that being said, she’s more likely to express her affectionate in subtler ways such as getting her co-workers their favorite drink just the way she knows they like it, or folding them their favorite animal/flower for their paperwork ( she’s very big on gift-giving as you can see here ). 

she also will be clingy around a person if she is fond of them- aka asking them to hang out with her often or even just to do a simple errand together...basically gift-giving and quality time are her two main love languages and the more she initiates, the fonder she is of someone.

8. What position does your muse sleep in?

curled on one side with something to hug- it could be a pillow or a stuffed animal. i’ll also notice she also prefers to sleep on her right side so the burned side of her face is against the pillow...she’ll sleep the other way though around someone she’s comfy with though!

9. Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room?

nah! she’s pretty mousy...soft-spoken at first so people assume she’s fragile and shy...which in reality she really isn’t :’D

“Food of Japan” by Shirley Booth FTW! One great virtue of that book is that it references a number of other classic English-language Japanese cookbooks. My favorites are “The Folk Art of Japanese Country Cooking”—Homma Gaku’s traditional recipes from the boondocks of Hokkaido—and “Good Food from a Japanese Temple” by Abbess Yoneda Soei, the dainty vegan cookery of a Buddhist nunnery. Both cover Japanese cuisines less familiar to the West, are out of print, and command exorbitant Amazon prices.

I've had a lot of books over time. The two other Japanese cookbooks I've kept (though I haven't used them nearly as much) are Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art and Japanese Farm Food, though neither looks as interesting as those.

TBH, for a lot of stuff, I'll have tried some dish in an izakaya, have no idea what it's called, and go looking on cookpad for a recipe in Japanese—for example, that thing that uses mung bean sprouts, daikon sprouts, and marinated ground pork in a stir fry.

♡ I didn't expect this to be good as others say. Wow! It blew my mind. It captures Japanese culture at its finest. The characters are perfect! Artistry, acting, and development. How they portray it. Authenticity and diversity! It's lyrical and nostalgic. Now I need to go to Kyoto, Japan!

♡ Recently I finished a lot of anime, movies, and manga. But I don't have the energy to post a review. But I couldn't let this opportunity pass to let everyone know that you need to watch this at least once in your lifetime.

♡ It's not just about cooking. It has profound meaning. It's about friendship, family, loss, true love, sacrifice, and acceptance.

♡ This is a live-action adaptation of an anime. I recommend watching the anime first before this.

๑ Anime: Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House (Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san) ๑⁠

❥⁠ The anime version has a simple premise but has an interesting plot. It's slice-of-life, food, and enjoyable! I like the simplicity of the story. It's whimsical too. It didn't focus on friendship, there's insight about Maiko's life and how home-cooked meals can uplift anyone's spirit. The food aesthetic is on point. I love it!

Twist Matchup for a female (me) please!

I’m 5’3, 18, and sort of a tomboyish person, but that doesn’t exactly make me brash. Although I’d say I’m sort of eccentric, I guess I’m also grounded in a way that I’m mature. I also think a lot and just don’t fear a lot of things if that makes any sense? Like, if I don’t have a reason to fear or dislike someone, I won’t despite what they or others say? I don’t know if I'm bad at explaining things.

I like things like art, taking long walks, staying up late, and cooking surprisingly. Though, aside from my hobbies I’m interested in architecture, history, space and engineering. I’m actually bad at history, so having someone to actually help would really be great- I usually spend my time working, which usually include club activities, school, work, homework, etc. So, I guess I’m naturally up and running. Though I usually spend my free time drawing, reading, or just thinking about a lot of things. I dislike laziness and dishonesty, so there is that.

I’d say my love language is more on the gentler, easy going side with touching (hugs, cuddling, etc.) but also words of affirmation and spending time with my s/o. Sometimes, I just like to enjoy their presence while we go for a simple date to get some food or something, or do our own thing but together in a sense. I also don’t mind comforting my partner as well, and just holding him and whatnot. For my partner, I want someone who is gentle, but also enjoys the simple things. Perhaps we don’t know much about each other’s interests, but we’re still interested and listen to one another. For example, I can teach the guy about engineering and whatnot, since I’m studying that. Someone who is loyal and is willing to be a comfort. Of course I will do the same for him, but yknow, sometimes you need a partner to just cuddle with after a long day.

Okay, everyone! To start things off here, I'll create a master post just giving a brief rundown of the setting most of my characters are written for and a brief intro to each of my characters. I'll update it as I add new characters to my slowly-increasing roster! Most images here will all be photoshops/edits of official Pokemon artwork as a form of crude reference as I have no ability to properly draw or paint, but using various selection tools, color pickers, and different brush options allow you to get surprisingly far.

The Setting: So to keep the setting as simple as possible, my friend's setting is a sort of PMD-like society that takes place in parallel to (and frequently in conflict with) human society in the Pokemon setting. Pokemon living in these little pockets of society, known as Bastions, are sentient and live complex lives very similar to their human counterparts. They make art and music, cook gourmet meals, wear clothing for both practical and fashion purposes, have complex political systems and social safety nets and resources to accommodate all different types of pokemon with different modes of locomotion and physiological needs. While they don't have complex technology in the way Human society does (they refuse to use it, mostly), sentient Pokemon are able to use magic to create similar effects (thus "radio" stones, messages stored as holograms, enchanted blankets that heat themselves, etc.). The various Bastions (and cultural towns, in the case of destroyed Bastions) in this world also often take after the same cultural influences of the Pokemon Regions they are from, so Pokemon will have various cultural backgrounds (Azalean/Japanese, Santalune/French, etc.) similar to that of real-world cultures.

Pathwalking

In this setting, there is also a semi-spiritual practice known as Pathwalking, which is a sort of combination spiritual practice, form of self-expression, and method of self-improvement and learning useful skills and abilities. Paths are based on either mono- or dual-type combinations, with each type representing a broad category of different ideas and themes, depending on the specific pairing of types. Paths involve meditation, whose method is specific to each path, and each path teaches different ideals that can be broadly interpreted and applied in different ways that may best fit any given individual. Paths give Pokemon who practice them access to moves, abilities and new skills, some unique to that specific path. When a Pokemon completes a Path, they can choose to permanently add to (if mono-type) or replace (if dual-type) one of their current types with one of the Path's types. Changing types can affect a Pokemon's physiology, which I will get into in a moment. Alternatively, if the Pokemon chooses to not permanently take either of the Path's types, they get the ability to briefly change to the Path's type combo once per day. It is common for Pokemon to walk multiple Paths in their life, though they tend to identify with one of them the most.

Physiology

In the Bastions, Pokemon tend to be exceptionally varied. Typically, Bastion Pokemon will have a primary species, which can be from either parent, taking on the typing, abilities and natural movelist of that species, but take on traits from their other parent's species such as fangs, horns, coloration/pattern changes, scales, feathers, and all sorts of other things. Further, when Pokemon change type via Pathwalking (permanently or temporarily), this can further affect their body. Changing to Grass type will cause them to sprout leaves, vines, or flowers, changing to Rock type will turn their hide to stone, changing to Fire type would increase their base body temperature and maybe they sprout natural flames from their bodies. Okay! That was a bit long-winded but that's all you need to know as a baseline for the setting to fully understand anything I might talk about with my OCs here!
