Greetings from Scotland !
The Monadhliath Mountains 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
The landscape here is among the most ancient in Britain and is a designated area of conservation. Although the Monadhliath mountains have always been a wilderness, a route through them has existed for hundreds of years and the area is steeped in historical importance.
The Corrieyairack Pass was known to travellers in the 12th century as being a short route through the mountains for anyone heading to the far north.
From the 15th century, a cattle drover's route from the Isle of Skye towards Stirling was in use and James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose had led his men into battle along this way in 1645.
In the Summer of 1731, the English troops under the command of General Wade, completed a gravel and rock road running from the town of Dalwhinnie and the English troop's barracks at Ruthven westwards, crossing the River Spey near Garvamore and over the Corrieyairack pass and down to Fort Augustus at Loch Ness.
According to legend, it was in this area that the last wolf in Scotland was killed in 1743 and that the Jacobite leader, Charles Edward Stuart (aka Bonnie Prince Charlie) passed this way in 1745 with his fledgling army on the way to Edinburgh, England and eventual exile in France.

So I love all the Yuus for Twisted Wonderland, they're all amazing and wonderful but I feel that if Yana/Disney decided to make them canon here are some of my favorites that I'd want to see be real

Day Forty-eight
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up and at 'em just outside Kyke of Lochalsh, today starts off extricating myself from the forested cliffsides and a short cruise down to the village proper to make use of the facilities.
Once set, it's time to begin proper! A short bit of island hopping westward along the road brings us to the impressively arching Skye Bridge, which gives a lovely view over Loch Alsh.
Over the bridge and I now hit the Isle of Skye!
Whilst the initial road on to the island is a bit of a busy A road, the road is lined with trees and the air is filled with a pleasant smell of both sea salt and pine as the journey carries on past the shore, with Skye's mountains touching the clouds ahead.
Past Breakish there's a left turn and on to a less busy A road that heads south around the foothills here and begins a nice ride past Loch Hourn, with the mainland's craggy mountains making a pleasing backdrop.
There are a few hardwr ascents along the road here, but I'm in no big rush today so they are gradually chewed through as the road passes by various holiday homes and villages along the coastline.
A bit more riding and it gets to lunchtime by the time I hit Armadale, and I have some time to kill so allow myself a nice long lunch.
The day had started off a bit damp but the sun has come out fully now, with the sunlight shining off the sea.
As there is no through road on the mainland around this stretch of coast, and the only other route being a 100 mile diversion inland past Fort Augustus, I've journeyed onto Skye to get the ferry from Armadale across to Mallaig, and after a nice 30 minute cruise across the water it's back to the mainland coast once more.
Out of Mallaig port, it's a long stretch of A road but I'm pleasantly surprised by it having long stretches of separate cycllying infrastructure, which allows me to make some good headway up the tougher hills here as the road climbs up once more.
Around Loch Nan Uamh there are a number of military jets on maneuvers and the hills echo with the thinder of their engines.
A bit more climbing and we get a beautiful view across the water of Arnavol Viaduct at the end up the loch.
The road carries on around and under the viaduct, where another few stiff climbs are thrown in.
I'm tiring at this point with evening setting in, and spy a nice bit of flat ground through some of the trees ao decide to setup camp a little shy of Lochailort. Whilst the plentiful deadwood around is rather damp, I'm in the mood for a little fire, so employ a bit of bushcraftiness to get the damp wood going.
A pleasant end to the day! See you all tomorrow.

Tag 18: Skye - Loch Ness
Datum: 13. Juli 2022
Reisedauer: 2 Stunden, 16 Minuten
Unterkunft: Morag's Lodge Fort Augustus
Old Man of Storr" verlassen. (Fortsetzung direkt unterhalb)

Day 55
Saturday 25th June 2022
This morning we got up and packed up the tent just before it started to rain. Only lightly but at least we managed to keep the tent dry. We waited out the rain for a bit and then made our tea and coffee before heading into fort Augustus to check out the Caledonian canal and Loch Ness. Probably the most famous loch in Scotland. It was another warm day today so we put on our shorts and walking shoes. Luckily our legs aren’t too sore today but it was nice to walk along the flat of the canal. The canal was pretty and the sun was supposed to be out today so a good day for a rest day. We checked out the town a bit and got to watch a boat coming into the canal with all the rising of waters and opening and closing of gates. Then on to our next stop invermoriston falls. A nice little walk from the car park to check out some lovely slow falls in the river that leads into Loch Ness. We also found a tap to fill up our water bottles which is always handy. We then hit the road towards skye. We stopped at Eilean donan castle, one of the most photographed UK castles apparently. It was a stunning rock castle on a little outcropped island on the loch. Pretty but very touristy today so we only checked it out from the car park. Not to far from there we found a hilltop look out and picnic area. We decided to make the most of the picnic tables and cooked our next big meal for the next few days. A bolognaise. It was fun. We lugged all our cooking supplies to the picnic table and spent the afternoon relaxing in the sun (and the sun showers) and slowly cooking our sauce. A nice way to spend the day off. This afternoon we arrived in Skye. I have been really looking forward to this part of the trip and it has so far been living up to the expectations. We found and incredible place to camp in the southern part of the island. Tokavaig to be exact ish. We had an incredible beach from spot with views right over to the mountains on the other side. It was magic. When we arrived we went for a swim and then dried off in the sunshine. There was just enough wind to ward of the midges. We laid out the crash pad and read our books in the sun until we started getting a bit hungry. We had toasties for dinner as we finished off the risotto for lunch and for dessert we had a big portion of carrot cake. Not bad. Actually it was bliss. I love it here. The view was stunning, we had sunshine, no midges, we could stay outside most of the evening and we got the sunset. Bliss. I was a bit worried that my high expectations of Skye would make it a bit disappointing especially after all the other stunning areas we have seen but so far it has exceeded and then some. We went to an old castle ruins just across the bay to drink our tea and look out over the sea and mountains. Dunscaith castle ruins were lovely and a great spot to enjoy our evening tea. We got back to our camping spot to watch the sun set below the hills spouting colours into the colours. I wish you could all be here to see it, minus the midges which did eventually come. But incredible though, we are so high up on the world that the sun doesn’t just set in a straight line down towards the horizon, but in a slow parabolic motion which is only down for a few hours before it comes back up again. It’s crazy. So as soon as I could I escaped into bed with my book! Love Kate xxxx

Any good friends? Enemies? Best couple
I have a couple of pairs of friends, I’m trying to make my dragons all more interconnection. Chamomile and Skye (keep bees) and Maria (candle maker) are close, so are Citrine and Hemoglobin, as they were raised together.
Enemies wise, Augustus (wants to be leader so bad) has a loathing for Basil (clan leader) that the latter is unawares of. Hemoglobin finds Trinket (both fae) to be a bother, as he doesn’t understand why she doesn’t use magic (she’s autistic and finds it a very bad sensory feeling) Kuna and Vasily, two necromancers also don’t get along well. Vasily is very highly opinionated on how necromancy “should” be.
I have some good relationships too, one I hold dear is Chamomile and Skye’s, they’re very in love wives.
