Regulus never actively tried to shut people out, at least he didn't to begin with. As a child, he was one of the bubbliest kids he could have been in his circumstances. In fact he was always better at making friends than Sirius was until he wasn't.
No, Reg never blocked himself off until he had to. Because sometimes you realise too late that your whole life you've been taken advantage of because you're warm and bright. And sometimes the brightest people become the coldest people, the ones who are near to impossible to reach.
Regulus Arcturus Black was not a cold person. The world froze his warmth time and time again until he couldn't bring himself to fight back.

No Longer Yours
James Potter x Female!Reader
IB: In The Cold November Rain by @sweetsweetjellybean (Make sure to check it out, it’s incredible and one of the best I’ve ever read !)
A/N: First, I wanna say thank you to @sweetsweetjellybean for letting me be inspired by her story even though I am stupid, lol, but seriously (not kissing ass), check her series out; it is fantastic. Thank you to everyone for the kind comments, reblogs, and likes. I'm overwhelmed with love, and I'm so thankful that people actually want to read more of what I write but anyways, enjoy!
Summary: James had disregarded you for multiple years, but when you have an epiphany in your final year, how does it feel to taste his own medicine?
Warning: It may contain swearing and soon-to-be smut.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Tumblr media
"Are you sure you don't want me to walk you all the way?" Your mother asked, squeezing your hand.
"I'll be fine," You caressed her hand, "I'm still your baby, though."
She laughed lightly, "Make sure to write always," She held your face with her hands, "Have fun; it's your last year."
You touched her hand on your cheek, "I will."
You hugged her one last time, taking in her scent. Every time you said bye to her, it was as sad as the first, without you crying and begging to stay.
"Okay," She smiled, taking her hands off your face, "Are you still sure you don't wanna wait for James here? I mean, you've done it all these years."
Little did she know, you had been ignoring James's letters, all 128 of them. He had been persistent, asking you what was wrong and begging for a reply to know you were safe.
You even received a letter from his mother, Euphemia Potter, asking how you were and everything was in Paris. You would never have it in your heart to ignore Ms. Potter, so you replied dutifully and happily.
And then you got a letter from him saying,
Dear Y/n,
Are you really going to reply to my mother and not me?
Sincerely,
Your BEST FRIEND, James Potter.
You didn't reply, scoffing at the bolded best friend. The last letter you received was last week, him telling you he couldn't wait to see you and wanted to talk as soon as he got to you.
Bullshit.
"Yeah," You gulped, "I'm just gonna meet him inside."
"Well, I'm sure he misses you," She started fixing your coat, "I mean, you have been in Paris all of this time, and I just think it would be good for you to-"
You cut her off, pecking her cheek, "Love you!" You yelled, going towards the train.
She shook her head, "Be safe!"
You smiled at her, going through the wall to the train. The feeling still felt the same, nostalgic. This was the last time boarding the train, and it felt sad.
You remembered the first time you ever boarded it. James was practically high on excitement on his first day at Hogwarts. You were scared out of your bloody mind, not wanting to leave your mum and dad.
When you had finally stopped crying and holding onto your mother's leg, James was the one to hold your hand and tell you that he would take care of you.
Maybe that was the first time you had realized James was more than a friend to you, or perhaps you were a naive child.
But either way, he was the one that you needed protecting from. You realized he hadn't been your friend since the fourth year.
But this year wasn't about James; it was about you having the best last year of Hogwarts that you could have ever had.
You boarded the train, moving through the compartments to where Marlene, Mary, Dorcas, and Lily usually were.
Compartment 222.
It was pretty lucky; it is where you guys first met.
You opened the compartment, "Did you guys miss me?"
They excitedly cheered, "Now tell me, Y/n, how many French boys did you end up shagging in France?" Marlene asked.
"I would say about thirty, oui oui." You joked in a French accent as they all started laughing.
You sat down next to Dorcas, giving her a side hug. You saw Lily and Mary whisper something to each other, to which Mary said, "Just say it!"
You could see Dorcas in the corner of your eye, shaking her head no aggressively. Apparently, Marlene was the only one not in the plan, continuing to look at her newsletter.
Your eyebrow raised, "Am I missing something?"
"It's really nothing," Lily nervously said.
"Okay, so what is it?" You laughed.
"Well," Lily fiddled with her fingers, "You know how you specifically requested that none of us tell James that you were replying to our letters and not purposely ignoring him."
You said, "Uhuh." Already knowing where this going.
"Well, I accidentally let it slip out over the letter you had spoken to Marlene and me." She admitted.
Your mouth agape, "Lily."
"I know, I know," She groaned, "It was a total accident."
"How do you accidentally slip something out over letter?" Marlene snorted, earning a glare from Lily, but she still looked at her newsletter.
"What did he say after?" You asked, kneading your forehead.
"Why is she ignoring me?" Lily answered, "I just said it was none of my business, nor was I involved."
The group stayed in silence, waiting for you to reply.
You sighed, thinking about how much James would bother you more now that he knew you ignored him.
"Are you mad at me?" Lily asked quietly.
"No, of course not," You smiled, looking at her, "I just don't want to talk to him and explain everything,"
"Who says you have to?" Mary asked.
You looked at her confused, "I just can't ignore him." You said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"And why not?" Marlene asked, now looking at you.
You opened your mouth to reply, but nothing came out. You thought about it harder, and why wouldn't you be able to ignore James? Maybe it was hard because you have never done it before.
"So I just don't reply when he tries to talk to me?" You asked.
"Well, I don't support this, but," Lily started, "You could always just walk away when he says something to you."
"Wouldn't that be mean?" You asked.
"What did I tell you in person and in the letter?" Dorcas asked as you looked at her.
"Give him hell."
"So do it." She said.
They were right; you couldn't keep explaining to James what he did wrong; you just had to be done with him. You missed your friendship, but it took a turn years ago; you never said anything.
And you had to start not caring about him.
"So, how was your guy's summer?" You changed the subject, grinning as Marlene went on about how she perfected her Quidditch skills and would finally be the best chaser at Hogwarts.
Then Lily talked about her poetry that she started over the summer and how her sister had ripped a few of them, but she fixed them with a single swish of her wand and appreciated magic more.
Mary talked about how many soap operas she had seen and how she might even go into it after she graduates from Hogwarts.
Lastly, Dorcas talked about how this year was her year to be a seeker and how she got a whole book collection from her sister in New Zealand.
You began talking about how you tasted so many new foods and learned a bit of French, showing off your knowledge of the profound language.
You were interrupted by someone opening the compartment doors, "Hello," Remus greeted as you stood up to hug him immediately.
He caught you as you almost made him fall over by the movement, "Remmy, how much I have missed you," You said, kissing him on the cheek.
"And Y/n, how was France?" He asked, smiling.
"Quite a bore; every man was all over me; I was getting exhausted," You exhaled, sitting back in your seat.
"Well, if you ever want to get with a real man, I'm here, Y/n," Sirius said, nudging next to you as you looked disgusted.
"Did you have to bring him?" Dorcas asked Remus, rolling her eyes.
"He insisted," Remus shrugged.
"There needs to be some form of restraining order against him by all of us," Mary sighed.
"I thought his STDs were enough of a restraining order for us to keep away from him," Marlene teased.
Sirius interrupted before another insult could be made, "Ladies, this Sirius Black hate train is honestly starting to hurt," He pretended to be hurt.
"Aww, poor baby," You said in a baby voice, pinching his cheek as he swooshed your hand away.
"Now, Y/n, why are you ignoring poor Prongs?" Sirius asked as you wanted to throw him out of the train through the window.
"I thought he told you to dance around the question," Remus snorted.
Sirius disregarded, "What did my poor, stupid boy do this time?"
"I'm afraid it's none of your business, Black." You simply said.
"It is my business when my friend is sulking and bringing down my mood," He explained, "So why are you upset with him?" He asked.
Marlene abruptly laughed, "I'm sorry, but he really thought you would be the one Y/n would say something to,"
Sirius fake-laughed, "Oh McKinnon, I'll be laughing like that when you fall off of your arse on the field,"
Marlene mocked his facial expression as he did the same thing to her.
"May I please just arrive in peace without one word of James Potter? I'm begging." You reasoned.
"Well, at least I can tell him I tried and that Moony was no help." He glared at Remus.
"I told you I wasn't going to talk to her for him; it was all up to you," Remus said as Sirius went outside, and Remus waved everyone goodbye before closing the doors.
You could already tell it was going to be a long year.
Tumblr media
After finally sorting the first year, everyone was allowed to dine. One thing you always missed about Hogwarts was the fantastic food; it was always incredible.
You were sitting in between Remus and Dorcas when Remus abruptly got up.
"Where are you going?" You asked, mid-laugh from a joke Marlene had made about Dumbledore and McGonagall in their secret chamber.
"Don't kill me," Remus stated before leaving. You looked confused, and James took the spot in front of you. You rolled your eyes, turning back to your meal.
"Please talk to me, Y/n," James pleaded.
You continued to stay silent, not even giving him a look as you looked at Marlene. She shook her head, and you continued to eat.
"I just wanna know what I did," James begged.
When you still didn't respond, he grabbed ahold of your wrist in an attempt for you to look at him.
"Don't fucking touch me." You spat before getting up and leaving the dining hall, telling your friends you were just gonna meet them in the dorm.
You tried rushing to the common room, but James was behind you.
"Y/n!" He yelled, speed-walking after you.
You continued to ignore him, going to the common room until you were stuck with the singing lady at the door who would not give it a rest.
"You have to talk to me," James demanded while the lady continued to screech.
"I don't have to do a thing you say," You scoffed, "In fact, I would prefer if you screwed off and stopped talking to me."
You went to one of the corridors, trying to escape him, but he followed you.
"Can't you just explain to me what I could've done for you to treat me like this?" He said roughly.
You turned to him, "There is not a single, simple explanation of what you could've done; there is a book of things," You snapped, "And treat you like this? Ever since I fucking stepped foot into your life, you have continued to treat me like shit." You stepped closer, "I stuck with you despite Lily, despite what other people said, and despite what you have shown me."
He continued to stay silent, "And now that I finally stick up for myself, I've done you horribly? Bullshit." You spat, "You have continued to show me exactly why I will never ever love you again, and yeah, for a matter of fact, I did love you, but you don't deserve me and never will."
Your words shocked him, not being able to mutter a word.
"Now you have nothing to say?" You manically laughed, "The smooth-talking and fantastic golden boy that shocked the century has nothing to say? What a pathetic-"
He kissed you suddenly precipitously, his tongue entering your mouth, entangling with yours.
For a second, you were drunk on his mouth, engaging with his kiss with as much passion as he gave you. His hand pulls on your hair lightly, making you moan.
His lips went from your mouth to your neck, sucking hard, red marks into your skin, knowing it would bruise.
Then you remembered everything. You remembered James's bitter words, his voice mocking you, and the boys laughing in the locker room.
You pushed his hard chest off you, breathing hard from the whole interaction. He looked at you, breathing as hard as you; realizing what he had done, he tried to touch your hand, but you pushed him again.
Tears brimmed in your eyes, "You're such an asshole," You cried, going to the Gryffindor common room.
You rushed up the stairs, immediately going into your bed. You couldn't believe what had just happened.
A part of you wanted to be grateful, grateful that you pushed him off, and realized that he only wanted to be with you when he felt convenient.
Another part of you wanted to continue kissing him, laughing with him, hugging him. You knew it wouldn't be easy, but you had never figured it would be painful.
What if you had loved James for so long that you didn't know anything but to love him?
It was stupid and pathetic.
You were tired of being stupid and pathetic, you just wanted to move on from James Potter and get away from him, and if that wasn't possible, you had to make him regret being friends with you in the first place.
So you did.
Tumblr media
You got up fresh and early in the morning when all of your roommates were sleeping, taking a shower immediately.
You looked in the mirror, your mascara smudged and dark red and purple hickies wearing your skin. You placed a shit-load of powder and concealer to cover up the parts you could.
You tried several spells to cover it up as best as possible, changing into your uniform.
You slipped into the most showing tights you could and wore your skirt from the fifth year that you so obviously outgrew, showing almost your ass cheeks.
You would be thankful not to get a write-up from McGonagall.
You unbuttoned two buttons off the top of your shirt, showing a tiny bit of your bra. It wasn't the most rebellious or seductive, but it could work.
The first challenge of that day was Potions; all of your friends were there, including all of the Marauders. But, thanks to Merlin was also Jacob Carrow's class, the Slytherin Captain that James hated with a burning passion.
They both could not be in the same room without spitting a hateful insult at the other. James once had a dream that you and Jacob had gone out, and he refused to talk to you for an entire day until you convinced him you would never do that.
You never considered yourself a liar.
The only problem was that Jacob was a dickhead, but so was James. You were surprised they didn't get along, maybe in another life.
You went inside Potions with your friend group, and you spotted Jacob Carrow in the back with an empty seat next to him as you told your friends you were gonna sit in the back.
You were thankful none of his friends were around him; it would be ten times more unbearable.
You sat next to him with a wide grin painted on your face, trying not to show your pain.
"Sitting next to me, Y/n?" He smirked, "I thought you were Potter's little puppy."
You tried to ignore your annoyance, "Pets tend to lean away from their owner at points; I guess that's my case." You shrugged.
"I am no Potter; I don't like having little girls follow me and do my shit for me." You could tell he was insulting you, but you stood tall.
"Good thing girls don't like to be in your presence." You snickered.
He smiled, "Love a kitty with claws," He leaned into his chair, "What do you want?"
"Do I have to want something?" You asked, popping your chest out to show your tits as he looked down at your face.
"You finally trying to make your boy toy jealous?" He asked.
You dropped the facade, "Are you gonna help me or not?"
"Control the temper, baby; I just wanna know what's in it for me." His body faced you.
"Isn't James being angry enough?" You asked.
"Nah, I can piss off Potter by just existing." He replied.
"What do you want?" You asked, half-annoyed.
"Meadows on a date with me."
You laughed, "Dorcas would never go on a date with you."
"Then no deal." He said with a fake smile.
"Ugh, fine, I'll talk to her if you just make James's life hell for a few minutes." You said.
"Okay, deal." He smiled, "Do you want me to touch you or,"
"Sure, but don't overdo it." You warned.
"I love when you flatter yourself." He said as James walked in, laughing with the Marauders.
Jacob immediately placed a hand on your thigh, slightly higher than preferred, but you continued smiling.
You started fake-laughing at Jacob's joke, which immediately caught James's attention. You looked behind you, and James's head looked like it would explode.
You looked back at Carrow, touching his shoulder and admiring how much muscle he had.
"What else do you want me to do?" He said through his teeth.
"I'll scoot closer to you, and you can put your hand on my waist." You suggested as he nodded.
You faced the front as Jacob touched your waist, tickling you with his fingers as you laughed.
"Mind keeping it down?" James scowled, "Not everyone wants to fucking hear that shit."
"How about you piss off, Potter?" Jacob mocked as he gripped your waist tighter, which pissed off James even more.
Before James could say another word, Slughorn started the class.
Throughout the class, Jacob would squeeze your thigh or tickle you, almost rising to touch your tits. Whenever he did those actions, you would giggle, earning daggers from James.
Once Slughorn instructed everyone to look inside their microscopes at the different ingredients used in Veritaserum, you took the opportunity to sit on Jacob's lap, looking in the microscope as he bounced you with his knee, causing you to laugh.
This really pissed James off, him storming up to you both. He grabbed your arm, practically flying you off of Jacob.
"Mr. Potter!" Slughorn yelled as the class watched the entire thing.
"Don't you dare fucking touch her," James said brusquely.
Jacob scoffed, "What will you do about it, Potter?" He stood, going closer to James.
You rolled your eyes due to the amount of testosterone in this conversation.
James got closer as you grabbed his hand, pushing him back, "Stop it." You said to him as he looked at you.
He grabbed your wrist, dragging you out of the classroom to an abandoned bathroom.
"James, let go of me!" You yelled as he pushed you inside the bathroom.
He was fuming, and you could tell which scared you. You hadn't seen him this angry since he lost a Quidditch match against the very man's lap you were on.
"You dragged me in here, so is there something you have to say?" You looked at him angrily, hands on your hips.
"Us not being friends anymore doesn't allow you to be a slut," He ridiculed.
You slapped him, "Don't you fucking dare call me a slut; I can do whatever the fuck I want,"
He wiped his mouth with a smile, "You think he gives a shit about you? He would fuck you and then dump you." He said as he moved closer, and you backed up.
"You don't know a thing," You replied nervously.
"He wouldn't even clean you up after," He continued, "He would let you rot there like a slut," Another step closer, which you took backward. You didn't understand if he purposely tried to intimidate or lecture you.
He didn't stop.
"He would tell all of his friends after," Another step, "He wouldn't dare spare you a minute after," Another step, "You would mean nothing," You were backed into the wall now, "But it's okay because you can do whatever the fuck you want."
"James." You kept eye contact with him, his eyes beaming into yours.
His mouth lowered to your ear, "But I think you want me to give a shit; you wanna see me mad." His hand snaked to your waist, "I guess you win." His body left yours, storming out of the bathroom.
Did you really win?

Part 2 of Let them be | 1k words
< Part 1 | Part 3 >
Let boys wear skirts
James had started a protest against the school rules not allowing females to wear trousers. How? By breaking the dress code. Of course Sirius was going to follow up and also put on a skirt. His brother Reggie desperately needed to change uniforms.
What he wasn't expecting was how it felt. The fabric was nice and it was much more freeing, refreshing. But there was something else. He felt different. He felt pretty. I mean, he was always gorgeous. But not like this. He was looking at himself in the bathroom mirror, turning to see the skirt from different angles. He put his long black strands behind his ears and smiled. Sirius didn't know what it meant. He wasn't like Regulus. He wasn't trans. He liked being a bloke. He never felt discomfort with his body. The knock on the door startled him out of his thoughts.
"Sorry I'm going!" Taking the towel and his pajamas, he opened the door to a Moony in a skirt. Obviously they had all agreed to it but he just looked so awkward and cute, with high socks to hide the scars. But Remus would look good in anything. At least in Padfoot's eyes.
Lupin didn't budge when the bathroom got free. He stared, looked his friend up and down.
"What?" Did he look bad? Did he wear the skirt upside down? Did he just look ridiculous with his hair like that, which made him look even more feminine?
"I- uh- nothing, I just… It suits you." Was Moony blushing? Did Sirius only have to wear a skirt to catch his crush's attention this whole time?
"You think?" Pads did a little twirl. The skirt was a little short but what did he care?
"Yeah. You look… Pretty."
"Thanks. I kind of like it, actually…"
"I see. Uh Pads, can I use the toilet?" Sirius stepped aside and ever so slightly glanced at the boy's arse. Lupin looked a lot more modest. It made sense with his 'problem', as well as anxiety and low self confidence in general. Black didn't expect him to follow the protest. The four of them were in, though. Even Wormtail. Lily's skirt was slightly tight but he said it was fine since it was for a good cause. He could use a spell to largen it but none of them had mastered those yet. They'd end up making a skirt big enough for the squid.
There were whistles from the Gryffindor table as soon as he walked in for breakfast. Mckinnon was hyping her friend as usual.
"Look at her!" She was joking, of course. But it hit Sirius. He felt a knot in his (her?) stomach. Why did he like that? He was fine with male pronouns, never had a problem. Still didn't. Shrugging it off, the drama queen paraded to the table, followed by an anxious werewolf.
"Don't worry Moons. If anyone looks I'll just be flagrant and get the attention off you."
"Thanks Pads." He smiled, his cheeks still slightly tainted. Perhaps he was too hot from the high socks and long sleeves in the hot weather?
"Good morning, lads! How are we feeling? I see Padfoot is confident, great. Wormy is getting used to it. Moony, you good, mate?" Potter was such a mum. People would think that Remus being the most sensible out of the four, he would have the responsible, more parent-like role. To be quite frank, he didn't give a shit. If his friends made a fool of themselves he'd laugh. Prick. Hot prick, though.
"Yeah." He looked to his left and back at Prongs. "I'm okay."
The day went as expected, they got detention quite soon, the first class was thankfully History of Magic and their ghost of a teacher didn't even know he was dead, let alone what his students were wearing. They received plenty of comments. Some cheering, mostly from girls, some were snarky, and some of the students called them girls, which Black didn't seem to mind at all. And of course, there were lots of stares.
The Marauders walked together everywhere, to be stronger and avoid being attacked. James was incredible, swagging around the castle with his head held high.
"Hey, Prongs? Can I ask you something?" It wasn't until they were in their pajamas that Sirius gained the courage to talk about it.
"Of course."
"How did you feel wearing a skirt? Were you uncomfortable? Did you like it?"
"Well…" Potter twisted his mouth to the side, as he always did when thinking. "It was fine, I suppose. I wouldn't say I liked it, I wouldn't choose to wear one. But for the cause it didn't bother me."
"Hm." Pads's gaze was distant. He had time to figure it out, they were going to keep wearing skirts until a teacher heard their complaints. At least Sirius and James were.
The next day, Marlene joined the protest, borrowing Sirius's trousers that were oversized for her. The lads had gone downstairs and she was in their dorm with Black, getting ready. They had no problem changing in front of each other since both were gay.
"You seem to be enjoying the skirt." That tone meant she was onto something. The fucker could always read Sirius. Even better than James, at times.
"Yeah… I suppose so. Makes me feel pretty."
"Just pretty or more like a girl?" Bloody hell, she had figured it out even before Sirius.
"I'm not sure…" Marlene put on her tie, done getting ready.
"Do you want to borrow my makeup? It might help." Pads turned around nervously yet excitedly.
"You sure?"
"Yeah mate. You also have to repaint your nails, they're all chipped. Wait here, I'll get my stuff."
"Thanks Marls…" She winked and left, coming back a few minutes later.
"I also brought a small mirror. Sit, we're having a beauty session." It was funny. Marlene wasn't that feminine. She didn't wear makeup all that often and when she did, it was more of a rock punk look with smudged black eyes. It wasn't anything like Evans or Mary, which were a lot more elegant and traditional.
"You don't want to eat first?"
"I'd rather get you all prepped up to see people's faces when you show up all girly."
And the faces did not disappoint. Black and Mckinnon walked into the Great Hall with wrapped arms. She had her hair in a messy bun, her shirt not fully buttoned up with her tie loose, the trousers covering her feet and a bit of a black smudged eyeshadow. Sirius, on the other hand, wore the skirt from the previous day, which was slightly short but still covered up everything, the shirt also not buttoned up all the way as per usual, and the red and gold tie undone, sitting on his shoulders. Some black nail polish and winged eyeliner, too. He couldn't deny it, it felt pretty good.
The best face was Remus's, who literally dropped his toast. The pink cheeks were definitely not from the weather. It sparked a little hope in Padfoot, that maybe his dreams of being with his best friend would come true. However, Moony would probably forget about it as soon as the protest ended.
It took a while until that happened. Pads and Prongs wore skirts for around two weeks (and some of the girls wore pants - Marlene, Lily, Mary, Dorcas, Pandora), eventually Reg felt comfortable enough to join, he had never felt so good at Hogwarts.
Mcgonagall was the one who spoke up about it, saying it was getting ridiculously out of hand and that she saw no problem with girls wearing trousers 'But for the love of Merlin, boys, put on some trousers'.
Dumbledore agreed to change the rules, as the protest was distracting the students' focus during classes. Fully aware the Gryffindors weren't going to back down.
Regulus was ecstatic and thanked all of them. Sirius was happy for his brother but he was going to miss the skirt. In this journey of self discovery, he had come to the conclusion that he felt both masculine and feminine, some days more than others. All the pronouns felt right, but he did prefer being called pretty over handsome. Maybe Sirius would be able to wear a skirt again someday. Until then, makeup was the only way of expression. He would also miss Moony's glances, he ought to come up with a new way to lure the Gryffindor boy.

"When did you say they were arriving again?"
Your voice echoes through the walls of the kitchen at 12 Grimmauld place. you wipe down the kitchen counters as another smaller, more meek voice replies.
"Mum we talked about this" That's your son. Regulus.
After the event of your brother passing, you wanted to honour his name. Such a beautiful name it was. No matter how cruel the people to name him were.
"I know ,I just worry, what if they get lost? maybe they couldn't find the place? what if they got caught- " Your rambling was interrupted by your son once again.
"MUM! nothing is going to happen. Besides, he's your brother. And he has lived here before. You know him." Regulus reasoned, and frankly his reasoning was logical. you were just...paranoid.
You did however, leave out the fact that what truly made you nervous was Remus.
"Well i haven't for the past 14 years, Regulus." you replied, snappy, referring to sirius. Your impatience was nearly rivaling that of your son.
"when is it arrivingggg?" a voice full of exasperation nearly whines as the screeching sound of trolly wheels comes to a halt.
An eleven year old regulus rocks back and forth on the balls of his feet as he (claimed to) patiently wait for hogwarts express to make it's way into the platform.
A thirty three year old you bent down to brush away his untamed curls, sighing as you did so.
"It will arrive soon enough, dove. Calm down."
Your voice tried to reason but little regulus's patience was waning. You had never seen a kid be so excited at the thought of going off to boarding school. But you suppose watching his older brother Harry would have embedded him with some form of excitement for the school.
You would be lying if you said you weren’t just as excited. It was your son’s first day at school. Big boy wizarding school. You were excited to see your boy go to the place you first knew as home, meet your former professors, roam the halls that you did, and make friends.
You did not, however, expect his first friend to be Draco Malfoy, son of Lucius Malfoy and your dearest cousin. In a way the two were cousins, they just didn’t know it yet.
That summer, when regulus came back from Hogwarts, he had a plethora of stories to tell you. His rant began with his new friends, Draco, Blaise, Pansy and Theo, and ended with his defense against the dark arts professor, Remus Lupin.
Needless to say all colour drained from your face at the mention of him. Remus Lupin…how do you even begin to describe remus lupin?
Remus is pretty.
He is pretty like the sunrise in winter, when the sky is faded out and it's warm. Thats what you think as you sit on the roof of  potter manor. Chatting, with hands occupied by, what you think is, beer in plastic cups. You felt giddy, perhaps it was the alcohol in your system. Or the gentle brush of his hand on your clothed thigh. You felt…in love. Somewhere along the way your innocent schoolgirl crush had become something more. You hoped it had been so for him as well.
“Dove…”
His velvety voice catches your attention. You turn your head to him, only to see him still facing the sun. You’re sure he’s seen your movement though, as he takes it as his que to continue.
Nothing. Nothing could brace you for the words that were to follow.
“I fancy you.” Your eyes widen. He continues.
“I have for some time now… I think you fancy me too? Not to-  I- uhm–”
“I do.” you find yourself speaking.
That was your first of many kisses to come.
Just then, the sound of the doorbell catches your attention.
“That must be them” your son says, in a rather ‘i told you so’ tone.
You rush to wipe your hands on the kitchen towel and head for the door.
Taking a deep breath to brace yourself for what’s probably Remus Lupin on the other side of the door, you pull it open with a creak.
Your eyes immediately find his.
And for a moment, you're fourteen again. Staring at the brown haired bloke across kings cross station, as he laughs with your brother. Mesmerized by his eyes, his nose, his lips, his scars. You knew that face all too well.
You blink and you're back at the doorway. Staring at those brown eyes, those eyes you knew...all too well.
"Remus.."
"Hi, love"

Harvest Moon || Remus Lupin x Muggle!Fem!Reader
it's finally here! here’s the moodboard to go with it! i worked far too hard on this so please let me know if you like it or if you want to see more of her! <3 to preface: this part takes place in roughly september :-) pt. 2 here word count: 4.6k warnings: mention of alcohol and cigarettes, maybe like two swear words, fluffy, some pining, quickly edited
You and Lily went to primary school together. Your mum and dad loved her like she was their own, and even though she had loving parents, she would often spend a lot of her evenings after school and summers at your house, evading Petunia’s constant need to bully her. The two of you were like sisters: sharing secrets, having constant sleepovers, playing pretend.
However, there was something different about her that you couldn’t quite put your finger on. Petunia incessantly told you that Lily was a witch, but you didn’t believe her. Why would you believe someone who hated the girl that you loved so dearly? Lily wasn’t green or wicked, and she didn’t have a wart growing on the end of her nose. That’s all witches were to you back then, and Lily was the opposite. She was radiant and kind, like sunlight on a dark day. She was your best friend, not some evil hag.
It wasn’t until a giggling Lily appeared on your doorstep the July before you turned eleven.
“Look!” She said, shoving an odd letter into your hand. “It’s for a place called Hogwarts! Go on! Read it!”
She eagerly watched you read it out loud. “Dear Miss Evans. You have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.” You couldn’t believe it. Lily, the radiant girl, was actually a witch. Petunia was right all along, and that September, Lily left to go to this magical school.
When Lily came home, she had befriended the greasy haired boy from down the street that you had only known as “snipe” from the kids at school, saying he looked close to the little bird that shared the name. You were willing to share her, seeing as he had no other options for friends, but he tried to take Lily away from you completely, saying she was his kind. Of course, Lily didn’t stand for this and split her time with the two of you equally.
As the years went on, the more you grew to dislike Severus. It was almost like he had a vendetta against you because you were Lily’s friend before she was his, or something like that. Whatever it was, you kept your head high whenever you saw him, ignoring his constant “filthy muggle” comments, and greeting him with a nice, “Hi, Severus! It’s so wonderful to see you again!”
His possessiveness didn’t seem to matter in the long run because Lily came back from her fifth year at this magical school gushing to you about some bloke named James. He was all she ever talked about. James, James, James.
“He’s annoying, and kind of a prick, but God, I just love looking at him…”
You felt like her real sister as you cursed Lily under your breath the entire way to the reception tent next to Potter Manor. She didn’t invite anyone else in your family to her wedding except you.
Sure, you were the only one to really know Lily, but a quick explanation, and your mum wouldn’t have asked any questions.
It wouldn’t have been that simple, you decided, when you saw the actual wedding. James and Lily took part in what the pixie-haired girl sitting next to you called the “Unbreakable Vow” in which they used wands to seal their promise to marriage. If one of them were to break this vow, they would die, the girl explained. It sounded intense, but as a hopeless romantic, it was one of the most beautiful sentiments of love you had ever seen.
Their vow keepers were the best man and maid of honor. The best man wore flamboyant plum dress robes with jewels adoring the lapels. He had shoulder-length, raven-colored hair and the biggest smile you had ever seen. He didn’t let the smile drop once. The maid of honor wore a pretty sapphire blue dress that complemented her skin tone very well. She wore her curls in a high bun, curly bangs framing her face.
James and Lily looked magnificent. James had on maroon dress robes that nearly matched his best man’s, but they were more humble with gold accents rather than the gaudy jewels the other man chose. Lily wore an ivory dress that flowed off her body like it was made of water. It had lace cap sleeves, and a bodice that contoured to her small shape. Every step she took, the ground blossomed with small lilies.
The more you looked around, the more you realized that everyone dressed insanely nice. You felt self conscious seeing that other people around went “all out” for this wedding: beautiful gowns and tea-length dresses of all colors of the rainbow, and the fanciest dress-robes you had ever seen adorned with silver, gold, and jewels. Obviously, you thought, they had gotten their clothes enchanted, seeing a special tailor to look as amazing as they did.
You got to work with Primark and Harrods, and since you didn’t have the luxury of getting something custom made by a literal wizard, you looked simple. You wore your hair down your back in loose waves, a plunging rose colored dress, and nude heels. In any wizard’s eyes, you’d look plain, unwilling to flaunt your nonexistent wealth through fancy clothes.
While the other people were nice and smiled widely at you as you walked past, you could tell that they knew you were different. It was in the hushing of their voices as you passed, and the way they looked at you like you had something growing out of the top of your head.
As far as you could tell, you were the only outsider in a sea of people that seemed to know each other. They all mingled, hugging and kissing each other like none of them expected this type of occasion, which baffled you.
Lily and James were made for one another. Even though James was quite literally Lily’s opposite, they worked. They fit together like two fiery puzzle pieces. You couldn’t see why anyone wouldn’t be expecting their wedding.
You self-consciously raked a hand through your hair, taking extra care to not snag any of it on your fingers, and looked at the table spots on the board next to the giant tent, desperately searching for your name. When you found it at table nine, you walked, head down, into the tent to sit down.
You took your seat in the nearly empty tent, pouring yourself a generous amount of the table wine, and drank it down. You sighed, taking a breath for what felt like the first time in an hour.
You wouldn’t necessarily consider yourself shy, but in this specific scenario, you felt yourself clamming up. These people, the party; it was all overwhelming. It was so different from the normal, non-magical life you were used to. You were normally willing to talk to just about anyone, but feeling underdressed at a huge wedding where you thought you were the only outsider left you feeling less than worthy.
You poured yourself another glass of wine and took a butter mint, popping it into your mouth. You sucked on it, looking around the slow-to-fill tent to catch a man glancing at you.
He was tall, lanky, and just so happened to be one of the most normally dressed people you had seen all evening. He wore a creamy brown sweater, with darker brown slacks, and a jacket that matched. From where you sat, you could see the faintest stubble on his cheeks and around his mouth. He was leaning on a cane, but didn’t seem to look any older than you since he had sandy brown hair that was long and swept off to the side with not a grey in sight.
A chill ran through you, and you looked away, feeling your face flush. He was handsome, and you decided then and there that at one point during this strange reception, you would talk to him. Needing the eventual confidence, you took another sip, glancing to see if he was still standing there, but he wasn’t.
“So you were the name I didn’t recognize,” said a voice from behind you, followed by a mention of your name.
“Oh!” You nearly jumped out of your skin, setting your wine down before you dropped it on your lap.
“I’m sorry, love! I didn’t mean to startle you!” He gushed, patting your shoulder as he pulled out the chair next to you to sit.
Embarrassed at the way his hand made your shoulder burn, you huffed, “You didn’t startle-”
You turned to look at him, your mouth turning bone dry despite the mint you had been sucking on.
It was the same man that had been staring at you before. Closer up, you could see that he had jagged white lines covering his face. A fresh scratch worked its way down his cheek, sure to leave a scar to match the rest of them. If you looked closer, you could see the tip of a wand sticking out of his jacket pocket. You were wrong.
You blinked, realizing you had been trying to figure out how to melt inside the chocolate that his eyes resembled. You swallowed the mint thickly. “Sorry, um-” you said sheepishly, tucking hair behind your pink-tipped ears. “What did you say your name was?”
You suddenly felt drunk, butterflies filling your belly with tenacity, but your mouth was so dry that you had to take another sip of wine before saying anything else.
“I didn’t,” he said, sitting. “I’m Remus.” He stuck his hand out to capture yours in his with a quick shake. Your eyes flicked to his hand, seeing if it was on fire. He was looking too, your gaze captured in the middle when you both looked up at each other. You pulled your hands away at the same time, Remus making himself busy by hanging his coat and cane on the back of his chair, a smile lingering on his lips.
You stared at the plate in front of you, trying to mentally blame your flush on the amount of wine you had already consumed. “Do uh- Do you know everyone here?” You asked, glancing at him.
Remus blew a puff of air out of his nose, amused as he looked around. “Just about everyone. You?”
“Nobody except for Lily,” you said, grabbing another buttermint to try and sate your dry mouth. “I mean, I know of James, but I spent every summer with Lily when she was home from school.”
“Oh?” Remus said, sitting straighter. He cleared his throat like had gotten something stuck. “Where did you go to school?”
“Saint Grogory’s,” you answered him. You tried to ignore that he was staring at his lap instead of you, his posture still stiff. “Now I work at a cafe while I’m going to the University of London to get my Master’s in English Literature.”
“You can just study that?” He asked quietly, looking at you. Your eyebrows raised with amusement, gathering that he didn’t know you knew about any of them. “Sorry, that’s a daft question,” he said, exasperated. “I mean, that’s really… Um- That’s really neat.” You didn’t say anything, deciding to let the poor wizard flounder. “I’d go to school for… For um… For maths, but I hate maths, so it wouldn’t really-”
“I know that I’m the only muggle here,” you said, eyebrows still raised as your mouth tugged into a smile. “It’d be very hard to think this was a normal muggle wedding. There are candles floating mid air. That doesn’t happen in the muggle world. You know that right?”
“Yeah,” he sighed, shaking his head. “Yeah.” He visibly relaxed, sending his gaze skyward as his ears started to burn red. “Here I was thinking that I was about to spoil everything.”
“Lily told me the day she got the letter,” you said, smirking as you nudged him. “I sure got you though.”
The heat from Remus’ ears made its way to his face, his cheeks turning crimson as he nodded, looking back at you.
“Wine?” You asked, filling his cup without a response. “How do you know Lily then?”
Remus took his glass before you overfilled it, taking a sip. “We went to school together.”
“Is that where everyone is from?” You asked, and he nodded.
“Mainly,” he said, looking around. “A few from-”
“There you are!” The best man shouted, slapping Remus on the back. He rested his bottom on the table next to his friend. He peered over to you, his grey eyes sparkling. “Magnificent wedding, isn’t it? I heard the house elves did a real bang-up job on the feast too.” He grabbed the near empty bottle of wine, pouring what was maybe a sip into the glass next of him. “Merlin, Moons, you finished it all yourself? Nervous about sitting next to a pretty bird?”
“Sorry, that was me,” you admitted, flushing when the raven-haired man looked back at you with furrowed eyebrows.
“No worries,” he said, waving his hand nonchalantly over the bottle. It filled instantly, and he took it, pouring more into his glass.
You blinked hard, staring at the wine bottle. Grabbing it, you peered inside to make sure it was real. “How’d you do that?”
“Do what?” He asked incredulously. “Do you not know that spell or something?”
Remus took the bottle from you, setting it in front of his friend. He introduced you to his friend, finishing with, “Sirius, this is Lily’s friend from home.”
Sirius paled. “Oh… Fuck.” His hands met his face as he muttered something about James being upset. He looked at you, his face still alarmingly pale as he started taking out his wand. “I’m so sorry, love. Just sit still, and I can help you forget-”
“I just didn’t know that you could do magic with your hands,” you said, still staring at the wine bottle. “I thought you always needed a wand.”
Sirius shook his head, the color slightly returning to his face as he deadpanned, “What?”
“She knows we’re all wizards, you plank,” Remus sighed, drinking his wine. “Put your wand away.”
Sirius breathed a sigh of relief, a smile breaking his face. “Oh, good! Brilliant! Ignore that comment then.” He pocketed his wand then turned to his friend. “Have you got a light and a ciggy?”
Remus huffed, patting the table in front of you. “Excuse us for just a moment, will you?” He grabbed his cane, slipped on his coat, and he and Sirius went off to smoke.
Sirius was right. Dinner was magnificent, as well at the people who sat with you. Remus was back in time to introduce you to them all. Frank and Alice, who said they were going to have the next wedding, were the same people you sat next to during the ceremony. Next to them sat Marlene and Dorcas. Marlene had a bright smile and a head full of white blonde hair that hardly ever left Dorcas’ tanned shoulder. On the other side of Frank sat Peter, who looked to be the youngest of the group with his baby-faced cheeks.
The wine was passed and refilled a few more times as the night went on, as well as special cocktails, feuling riveting conversations amongst the wizards and witches. You decided to listen, taking in everything the boys were talking about. From the legalization of recreational boomslang to the crackdown on broom riding. Eventually, their conversation hushed down to mumbles and whispers.
Dorcas, Marlene, and Alice, however, were busily chatting about her wedding and how excited she was to finally marry Frank. They eventually roped you in on their conversation, asking your opinion about what would be better: live unicorns or a toad choir. Of course, you chose unicorns which had the girls roaring in laughter.
By the time that James and Lily danced their first dance, you felt good, and that wasn’t including the way you brushed up against Remus’s side as you stood alongside your newfound friends.
“We’re gettin’ drinks then goin’ to dance,” you slurred, the butterflies reemerging as he looked at you. “You want me t’ grab you somethin’? ‘M gettin’ water.”
He shook his head, pushing himself up from the chair. “I’ll come with you.”
“You sure?” You asked, watching him grab his cane and coat and nod a goodbye to Frank and Peter. “‘S not a big deal f’ me-”
“I insist,” Remus said, walking past you, slightly turning over his shoulder. “Come on then.”
You caught up, trying not to stumble alongside him. Focused on him, the two of you walked straight past the drink table.
As if Remus could sense your reminder, he said, “I want to show you something quick,” and led you out of the tent into the dusky lawn.
You didn’t protest, rather you felt bad for him, his nose scrunching every time he took a step. You lightly hooked your arm in his, your hand resting on his bicep.
“You ‘right?” You asked, feeling dumb as the words left your mouth. “‘M sorry. That was rude.”
“It’s a valid question,” he reassured you with a soft nudge of his elbow. “Hip just acts up sometimes. I’ll live,” he said, glancing at you as you pressed your cheek against his arm. “Are you okay?”
You sighed. “Yeah.” You moved off his arm, rubbing the side of your face that touched him, praying there wasn’t a burn mark. “I think I overshot.”
“You were drinking a lot of wine,” he snorted, opening a large manor door for you. “Do you need some water?” You entered, and he followed you, offering you his arm again. “A sober up potion?”
“The latter,” you said, desperate to feel the burning in your hand again as you hooked onto him. “‘M gonna hurl if I drink anymore.”
“We don’t want that.” Remus led you down a long hallway in the expansive manor. Marble floors and large columns made up the hallway, breaking off into the entryway and the living room. The two of you passed the huge, bustling kitchen and came to a double door.
“Here,” Remus said, nudging the door open slightly. “You go wait in there while I go find that potion, alright love?”
You nodded and the corner of his mouth tugged into a half smile. You watched him, entering the door he had nudged open.
You could’ve dropped dead on the spot, and you would’ve died the happiest lady on the planet. Books covered the walls up to the ceilings, lit by the large moon as it rose over the manor.
You stepped closer to the shelves, tickling the spines when you noticed that they weren’t just books. There were books on runes, books with fur, and books that were quietly whispering.
You picked up a shiny book, cracking it open. While nothing popped out, the book began shouting. You screamed and quickly slammed it shut, putting it back. Your heart beat out of your chest as you picked up another one, finding ice cold air blowing out of it as soon as you opened it. The third book you picked up had a plaid spine, and looked safe. The cover read, “Frankenstein's Monster: Did It Actually Happen?” You held it to your chest and sighed, breathing in the dusty, papery scent.
You could live here, and nobody would know. You could nestle in amongst the shelves, hiding in the hole until all the books were read. Feeling drunk and overwhelmingly happy, you sighed again, closing your eyes as you plopped down on the sofa.
“Do you like it?” Remus asked from the door.
“I think I’m in love,” you replied dreamily, turning to look at him. “Has anyone read all of ‘em?”
“James said his dad was working through them,” he said, sitting down on the sofa. He handed you the potion. “I think he got about halfway through before he gave up.”
“God,” you said, looking around. “I’d try to read ‘em all.” You smelled the potion, instantly recoiling with a gag. “‘M not drinkin’ this.”
“It just smells bad,” he said, an amused smile gracing his face. “Drink it and you’ll feel better.”
You sighed, grumbled, “Fine,” and downed the potion like a shot.
Remus lied to you. It tasted just as bad as it smelled, but it worked. You felt all the drunkenness leave you like it was being siphoned out of your body. You sat up straighter, pushing your hair out of your face.
“Better?” Remus asked, his eyebrows raised.
“Much,” you said, smiling as you looked at him. “Thank you.”
Despite not being drunk, you still felt the butterflies in your stomach as he matched your toothy grin, glancing at the book in your hands. “Are you going to steal that?” He teased.
“I’d like to,” you admitted, reading the first page to yourself. “It’s the first book that hasn’t done something.”
“I’m sure Fleamont wouldn’t care,” he said, his fingers dancing against yours as he took the book from you, pocketing it in his coat. “I can hold onto it for now. Until you leave, of course.”
“I suppose I should probably get back and say goodbye to everyone,” you said, standing and smoothing out your dress over your thighs. “The last bus leaves in an hour, and I still have to see Lily.”
Quietly, Remus nodded, standing alongside you. He offered you his arm again, and even though you weren't stumbling, you took his desperately, letting him lead you back out of the manor.
“Moon’s really big,” you said, looking up at the moon that shone orange in the sky. “Must be full.”
Remus winced, glancing at you to see if you noticed, finding you still staring. “There was a full harvest moon a few nights ago. If you look, you can see it waning.”
You narrowed your eyes trying to see what he was talking about. “Do you like the moon or something?”
“I-” He paused, catching you already looking up at him. “Sure.”
“I like the sun more,” you admitted, looking back at the moon. “The moon is fine, but without the sun, it’s just another dark rock.” You glanced at him to catch him staring at the moon, a grimace on his face.
Before you could say anything, a sharp squeal followed a flurry of red hair that was barreling toward you.
“I’ve been looking for you everywhere! I thought you left already!” Lily shouted, picking you up and spinning you around. She held you at arms length. “Look at you!”
“I wouldn’t have left without saying anything to my favorite girl!” You beamed, taking in your Lily. “You... you look radiant.”
“Oh, pish,” Lily said, waving her hand in the air. She looked at Remus, who was still staring at the sky as if to give you and Lily your space. “Hi, space man,” she cooed at him, causing Remus to look at her, a tight smile on his face. She reached up, squishing his cheek between her fingers. “I’m stealing her from you.”
“Be my guest,” he said, pulling cigarettes out of his pocket. “I’ll be in there in a minute,” he said more to you than to Lily.
“That’s a nasty habit, Lupin,” Lily sighed like she had said it about a million times.
“Really? That’s funny,” he said, lighting a cigarette and holding out the pack to the three other men coming toward him. “Seems as though the other Potter likes it.”
You smiled as Lily pulled you away toward the tent, grumbling about James being irresponsible and how she was going to have to have a little chat with him later.
“Oh, you love him,” you cooed, and Lily sighed heavily.
“Very much so.” She turned the two of you around, gazing at the group of four boys all smoking and chatting away. “I mean look at him,” she mumbled to you. “I just want to hit that cigarette out of his hand and scream at him until my throat bleeds, but God, I just want to kiss him until he chokes, and I love him, and I just wish I could-”
While Lily continued to tell you about all the things she loved about her new husband, you couldn’t help but to look at Remus whose face was pulled in a genuine smile as James and Sirius began loudly talking about God knows what. The way he threw his head back as he laughed had your cheeks flushing, and this time, you couldn’t blame the wine.
“He’s cute,” you blurted, sensing Lily following your gaze.
“Remus?” She asked, and you confirmed with a short nod.
“He took me into the library,” you said, looking at Lily. “He’s got a book in his pocket for me.”
“Really…” She said, sounding far off as she continued looking at the group of boys. “It makes a lot of sense…”
“What does?” You could hear your heartbeat in your ears watching the way she smiled, knowing she made eye contact with one of them.
“You and Remus,” she said, looking at you with the same smile. “You should give him your number.”
“Lily,” you groaned and she grabbed your arm, leaning in.
“He wouldn’t have looked over here at least four times if he didn’t want it,” she whispered, a fiery look in her eye when you began to protest with pink cheeks. “He lives in muggle London. He owns a phone.”
You huffed. “Fine.”
Lily’s smize turned giddy as she gave you a napkin, your number already written on it. “I’ve had this in my pocket since I saw you sitting next to him.”
“You’re a minx,” you hissed, taking the napkin. You checked your watch and sighed. “You planned this out so I couldn’t say no, didn’t you?”
The glint in Lily’s eye said it all as she threw her arms around you. “I’ll see you soon. I can come round your flat, and we can watch movies, and we can have a proper girl’s night, alright?”
You squeezed her tightly. “That sounds amazing, Lils. I love you.”
“Not as much as I love you!” She said, pulling away. A mischievous grin grew on her face as she pushed you forward. “Now go get ‘em, tiger!”
You stumbled forward, throwing Lily a scrunched nose over your shoulder. She met it with a thumbs up and a cheeky smile before James snuck up behind her, batting him away as he tried to kiss her.
You laughed to yourself, shaking your head. You could only hope to have a love like Lily and James one day.
The napkin in your hand grew increasingly damp the closer you got to Remus. He was still standing outside nursing a cider that one of his friends must’ve given him. You stepped outside of the tent, siding up to him.
“Hey, you!” Remus said, nudging you with his elbow. “Are you heading out?”
“I am!” You said, the napkin becoming damp in your hands. “Bus leaves soon, and I need to catch it before I’m stranded here.”
“Alright,” he said, grabbing the book from his pocket. “Here you are.”
You took it, smiling while you looked at it. “Thank you,” you mumbled.
The two of you became quiet, not knowing what to do next. A handshake would’ve been proper, you thought, considering you had just met him and he took you under his wing for the night.
You panicked and stuck out your napkin-filled hand without saying anything. He looked at you with furrowed brows then took your hand, the burning sensation filling you from the tips of your fingers straight to your chest.
“It was really nice to meet you, Remus,” you said, pulling away and leaving the napkin in his hand.
You turned around before he could say anything, head down as you walked quickly down the Manor drive, hoping the scorched feeling in your hands would never go away.

Say something babe pt2
James Potter x reader
Angst
Warnings: cheating, yelling, James being a dick and few curse words I think? (Also y/n being a big dummy for a sec but it happens)
A/n: here's part two! I hope you guys enjoy it this one is longer than the last since some of it was technically part of part one but I moved it. This part made me really hate James so I have some regrets but oh well I promise to write fluffier fics eventually. There's gonna be part 3 of James groveling but for now it's just this I'm sorry. :(
Tumblr media
It was your last day home after spring break, you had spent your week in your bed in the dark having restless sleep to avoid the reality of your situation, but it seemed even your Dreams were haunted, and you knew your mum was worried. You had written to Penny and your other friends, who had been worried about your sudden departure without saying goodbye. Penny had thankfully not told anyone anything about what you two heard that last night. James had surprisingly also sent you a few letters,5 to be exact, but you couldn't get yourself to open them, any time you tried nausea overtook your body at the thought of the words he said about you.
You were dreading the thought of returning and facing everything. You thought about continuing everything as if you had never heard that conversation and try to enjoy however long you had with James, you had even thought of excuses as to why you left and didn't reply to his letters, but you knew you deserved better. You needed to confront James, and maybe he would apologize and reassure you it was all some big misunderstanding, you probably would believe him if he did.
.......♡☆♡........
As soon as you stepped on the train platform, you heard a set of heavy steps approaching you, but before you could turn around, a big set of arms enveloped you. "Can't... breathe..." you gasped out and patted Finn's back, and he immediately let you go to see Penny, Rowan, and Wren were there too, each giving you a gentler hug than Finn.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you, I was just so worried, and I missed you so much, it's been ages!"
"Sure has felt like it but come on, let's find a cabin before the good ones are taken." You placed your hand on Finn's arm and started guiding your friend group to the train. You knew that you were probably going to get interrogated by everyone, but you could at least push it back a few minutes.
Once your group found a cabin you sat down by the window and Wren immediately shut the door, and you knew even if you tried there was no stopping this. "Okay girly you better start talking about whatever it's going on because that letter saying something came up at home, and you had to go earlier is bullshit cause something is always going on at your house and that is exactly why you hate being there. So now talk and tell me who I need to jinx with Finny here for doing something to you."
You looked at Penny for some help, but she just gave you a soft smile, encouraging you to tell your friends the truth. But you were terrified of them hating James, in case it was just a misunderstanding.
"James and I just had a bit of an argument, no big deal, I promise we are fine. I'm fine." Penny rolled her eyes at your words, but thankfully no one saw her, and she did help you change the topic. But you knew none of your friends believed you, even Finn who was sometimes a bit clueless could tell you lied and for the rest of the train ride they gave you worried looks.
.......♡☆♡........
After the long train ride, you went to freshen up in your dorm (and mentally prepare yourself to face James) assuring your friends you would meet them at the great hall. But just when you made a turn, you felt someone pull you into an empty classroom. Just when you were about to scream you felt a pair of lips you knew all too well pressed onto yours and for a moment you forgot about all the pain that you had felt over the past week.
When James pulled back and searched your face his eyes brought back the words you had heard, the words that came out of the lips you had just kissed, and immediately all the pain and nausea returned.
"I was so worried about you baby, you left without even saying goodbye, and we were supposed to go to that party together, and then you wouldn't reply to any of my letters and your friends didn't know anything either." You usually thought his ranting was adorable, especially when he looked like he did right now with his eyebrows furrowed and eyes looking at you with what you used to think was sincerity, but now that stupid look in his eyes just felt like a dagger onto your heart twisting with each word that left his lips.
You pushed his hands on your cheeks away and took a step away which made him frown, but before he could say anything you blurted "I heard your conversation with Castor in the Gryffindor common room!" Which made him frown more until a look of realization crossed his face and his eyes widened.
"W-what conversation...? H-how did you even get into the Gryffindor common room?" He tried to deflect, which made your heart sink and tears well up in your eyes.
"The one where you mentioned I was so annoying and clingy and offered me to Castor, so you could have some alone time with Lily!" He was refusing to look you in the eyes anymore, which was making all that sadness you once felt turn into bitter anger.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about you are overreacting right now Castor and I don't really talk plus y-you were complaining about him that one-"
"James!"
"Okay! Fine! I did tell Castor all that, but you know what? You're just proving that you ARE clingy. I mean, why do you have to listen to MY private conversations, huh? And again, what were you doing in the Gryffindor common room? And you're also proving how dramatic and psychotic you are by making this big show about something I said to my friend privately!" By this point, you couldn't hold back your tears as James spit the words that had kept you restless the past week with so much venom, and his once gentle eyes turned into those of a crazed man.
"And what about Lily!?" You managed to scream back, but it came out so broken that even James' eyes momentarily softened, or maybe it was just because you mentioned the girl he actually loved.
"What about her?" He stepped closer, eyes hardening again, glaring at you in a way that killed you. "Are you seriously jealous of her? Merlin y/n! Am I not allowed to have friends? I never tell you anything when you hang out with Rowan and Finn."
"I've never been jealous because I trusted YOU! B-but I heard-"
"Heard something completely out of context! Look babe, I love you okay! That night at the party I just wanted to play some drinking games with Lily cause I know you don't like drinking! I would never cheat on you, okay? I know how you feel about it because of your dad and I wouldn't do it to you, promise" You wanted to scream deep down you knew this was all lies, but you wanted to believe him so badly. Just when you had made up your mind, you felt James wrap his arms around you, and you couldn't help but cry harder. You just felt so small and broken and as if his arms were the only thing holding you together.
"I'm so sorry for overreacting. I-I don't know what happened, I-I…" James took my face into his hands again and gently kissed my lips.
.......♡☆♡........
After you and James cleared things up, things had been a little tense between you and Penny, who berated you for an hour and then ignored you until the next day cause she couldn't stay mad at you. And even though with James things were seemingly back to normal you still felt yourself walking on eggshells around him and stopped missing classes and club meetings, like you usually did in favor of meeting him, so he wouldn't feel like you were clingy. Despite all of it, you still felt something was missing, like the life had been drained out of you. But that only made you feel worse, since you had everything you could possibly want, and suddenly you weren't satisfied. Now when James was by your side you often felt numb even when you would hang out with the other marauders who usually made you laugh you felt like you were laughing out of a pure reaction but not feeling any joy.
It had been 3 weeks since your argument, and you were running late to Madam Puddifoot's tea shop, where you had made a last-minute arrangement with your friend group to celebrate your friend Luna's birthday. You usually didn't come to Hogsmeade in the middle of the week, too busy with the many activities you were part of plus assignments as it was your last year at Hogwarts. But you and Luna had been friends since second year when she had gotten sick around the same time you fell off your broom and both of you spent your days at the infirmary chatting away. You helped her usually shy, and reserved self become more open and make more friends.
When you finally arrived at the tea shop, you spotted a curly mop of hair that you recognized as James leaning in to kiss Lily. The chatter you were having among your friends completely stopped, and you felt your world come crashing down, there was no denying anymore. James Potter was the biggest cheater ever, and you were the biggest fool for trusting him. You contemplated going to confront him right then and there, but you didn't want to ruin Luna's party, so you made your way back to Hogwarts and would confront him when he got back to his dorm. All throughout your walk back, you kept cursing him and yourself for being so naive.
.......♡☆♡........
By the time James made it back to his dorm it was 7:45 you had long made yourself comfortable after kicking out the other marauders.
"Baby! What are you doing here? I told you it was best to not come after the whole misunderstanding from last time" Unsurprisingly, James was shocked to see you there, but he quickly disguised it and tried to lean in to kiss you, but you just turned your face, so he just kissed your cheek which made him frown. "Is everything okay?"
"I don't know, James, you tell me. How was your little date with Lily?" To that his eyes widened and if you weren't seething right now you probably would have found it comical.
"Merlin y/n this again?! I've told you there's nothing going on between me and Lily! You're so-"
"I saw the two of you kiss at Madam Puddifoot's." You said matter of fact, interrupting whatever argument he was gonna use to call you delusional.
"I swear it wasn't what it looked like! She's the one who kissed me! She's been obsessing over me ever since we got together. She's an insane babe." That was true, unfortunately, James had never told you about Lily wanting him back after seeing him with you, and it's not like he tried to stop her, in fact, James had very much encouraged her. He loved the thrill of being with her behind your back, you had been so close to finding out about them so many times. And after the last time he had been so cocky about being able to convince you he was loyal, bragging to everyone in Gryffindor. But you didn't know any of that.
"Oh really, just like I'm so obsessed with you that I don't let you breathe? Look I don't care anymore I'm done playing the fool. If I'm even here, it's just for formalities because we are done, Potter." You said, as you got up from his bed, and made your way to the door.
"Are you seriously breaking up with me right now?" You didn't bother answering as you opened the door and stepped out. Making a vow to never anyone hurt you like that again and refusing to ever look back.

Ok here’s a no pressure oneshot request if it inspires you:
Your class is allowed to pick their own partners for a paired project and James Potter *insists* he’s yours and you argue with him a bit because you don’t trust him to take it seriously.
But then you end up partnering with him and he ends up making it fun and he actually knows what he’s doing!
Tumblr media
Pairing ~ James Potter x hufflepuff!reader, platonic!remus x hufflepuff!reader
Word Count ~ 1, 032
Summary ~ You're not the biggest fan of the idea, but you get a new partner in Herbology, your favorite class
Warnings ~ Beginner writing skills, fluff, unedited because I'm lazy...banter?
Note From Mia ~ I hope you enjoy, but I'm not very confident in my writing yet, so, we'll see where this goes, I guess, I also wasn't 100% sure how to end it, so I hope it was okay. ALSO, THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING, I LOVE YOU! <3
Tumblr media
Herbology has always been your favorite class. And however stereotypical it sounds, it just was. You grew up in a household where your father had been a Ravenclaw and your mother, a Hufflepuff. That being said, you grew up with your nose stuck in a book, playing games of wizarding chess with your father, and gardening and baking sweets with your mum.
Naturally, out of all the classes, you were drawn to Herbology. It was one of the subjects that just clicked into place. And it didn’t seem to hurt that Professor Sprout had always been fond of you, and you of her.
You enjoyed the smell of the various plants and soil, and the sun and warmth emitting in the Greenhouses. Everything to do with it was simply second nature to you, having helped your mum open up her own floral shop.
You were currently on your way to the Greenhouses for Herbology when Remus caught up to you. Remus and you had bonded in your Third Year when he had asked for assistance in the very class you both were on your way to.
The two of you had always had a quiet, relaxed bond. You were comfortable sitting in silence, but liked to lean on each other when it was needed. You also made him homemade chocolate every full moon, so that was a plus for him.
Remus had always tried to introduce you to James and Sirius, but even though a Hufflepuff, you tended to be more introverted. That trait came from your father. You liked to stick to your inner circle of friends: Remus, Regulus, and Pandora.
“Rem, what am I going to do?” You broke the silence, seeing the Greenhouses appear in the horizon.
“About what?” He asks, tilting his head, looking down at you.
You sigh before responding, “I don’t have a partner this year.” You look down. “Ember, decided that she would ditch me and find a group of Ravenclaws to be her friends, instead. But did she really not realize that I’m just as smart as them? I was raised by a Ravenclaw!”
At the end of last year, your friend of three years had decided that she wanted to branch out and make new friends; which you completely supported, well, until she decided to leave you completely.
Remus came to a halt and grabbed your shoulders, stopping you and turning you to face him. “You don’t need her. She clearly wasn’t a good friend and you are better off without her.” He drops his hands from your shoulders before continuing. “Plus, I know the perfect person to be your partner,” The fawn-haired boy smirks before striding away, leaving you to catch up.
“Remus,” You grumble, sprinting to catch up to his long strides. When you're finally back to his side, he glances at you, smirking.
“Your hair is messed up now.”
You simply ignore him, flipping him off before walking into the Greenhouse, shutting the door in his face. You hear him laugh and roll your eyes before heading over to your workbench.
Professor Sprout makes her presence known by telling everyone to pull out their textbooks, and to find a partner.
You ignore the latter and grab your book from the bottom shelf of your bench, wanting to leave worrying about the partner situation until last. However, someone seems to have other plans because when you look up it seems that you already have a partner. Or at least someone thinks so. You disagree completely; and you show that perfectly with the glare you send Remus’s way.
You sigh, “What do you want, James?”
“Why to be your partner of course.” He quips, not leaving room for much discussion.
However, you have different plans. “Yeah, sorry, but not happening.”
“Why?”
“James. I like this class. I take it seriously. Do you?” You question, while flipping open your textbook to the chapter that introduces everything that needs to be known about the Deadly Nightshade: Belladonna, which everyone was instructed to do so by Sprout.
“I take all my classes seriously.” He answers, pushing his glasses up from where they had slipped. You give him an unsure glance, but don’t argue any further.
“An easy week, this time around, students,” Sprout starts. “You’ll simply be reading and taking notes on Belladonna. If you haven’t already flipped your books open to page eighty-four.” She waves her hand in dismissal for students to start.
“Would you like to take notes, or read the text?” James asks politely.
“I really don’t mind either,” You answer politely. A trait from your mother? Indecisiveness and people pleasing. The latter being a trait you were unaware of James sharing with you.
“How about I read a page and you take notes on it, and then we switch?” He compromises.
“Sounds like a plan,” You smile, pulling out a parchment and quill.
James reads the first page out loud easily, while you scribble out information that sounds both important and then intriguing.
After that you switch, and that continues until the last page of the chapter where it landed with you reading. You slowed down to make sure you weren’t going too fast and glanced over to James who was writing neatly and at a speed of which you didn’t know how he managed.
His glasses slipped down his nose in the process and you giggled, causing him to snap his head up. “What?” He asks obliviously.
“Nothing,” You assure, fixing his glasses for him before he even realizes it happened himself.
A blush spreads across his face and he looks back down at the parchment, continuing writing, mumbling, “I was wondering why the words were getting blurry.”
You laugh before continuing reading.
Across the class Remus has a smug smile and Sirius notices his pause in reading and looks up curiously. “Moony. You stopped reading.”
Remus looked down, then to Sirius. “Oh I know, but I also just played matchmaker.” He responded smugly, subtly pointing to the pair directly across from them.
Sirius looked over to see his best friend with a blush across his cheeks and you, laughing in between your words, your head resting on James’s shoulder.

🎂 james - childhood best friends that live next door to eachother in godric (i love ur writing so much - @venushighcosmic)
Climbing Trees and Grazed Knees. Platonic James Potter x Reader
AN - This was a really sweet request. thank you and thank you so much for joining in <3
The initial encounter between Y/N and James occurred on the day her family settled into their new home. Upon the arrival of the moving van, the neighboring houses curtains rustled, revealing a boy who eagerly emerged from the house next door. James leaned casually against a tree on his front lawn, observing as Y/N's family unloaded their furniture. The sun shone through his messy, brown curls and he flashed a mischievous grin at Y/N who remained seated in her parents car.
Once the bulk of the furniture was unpacked and her parents deemed it safe for her to explore without risking being inadvertently squashed by a wardrobe, they finally allowed Y/N to exit the car. As soon as her feet touched the pavement, James was in front of her, jutting an arm out to shake her hand.
“I’m James. I live next door. Been waiting for ages for someone to move in!”
Y/N shook his hand, her gaze drifting down to his grazed knees.
“We’re friends now.” James said bluntly, “That’s the rule if you move in next door. The last family didn’t have a kid. They did have a dog though. Although you can’t climb trees with a dog.”
“I can’t climb trees either.” Y/N admitted.
“I can teach you. I’m really good at it.” he grinned at her, the corners of his eyes crinkling up.
They were inseparable ever since. Y/N was either round at Potter’s or James was round at hers. There wasn’t a day that went by that they didn’t see eachother.
As they got older, they only grew closer. By the time they were teenagers they were doing absolutely everything together. They had traded climbing trees and grazed knees for sprawling out on James’s bedroom floor listening to records and drinking in their local pub.
Their parent’s would joke that they were joined at the hip. James’s mum didn’t mind, she said that Y/N kept James out of trouble. She couldn’t have been further from the truth.

DESI JAMES POTTER HEADCANON
Disclaimer: this is not era-typical. this is strictly subjective, this is my way of projecting my delusions and hoping I meet someone like James Potter some day!!
James craves parental and academic validation.
Now before I get jumped, lets all be real for one second. You are telling me James Potter is a desi first gen NRI and he does not crave validation? I refuse to believe that!! And it was not that Effie and Monty pressurized him... it was the opposite actually. they did not say a thing and my boy just felt he had to be the best because he has such nice parents who never ask for anything how can he ever live up to it??
He was the kind to lose sleep before important days. Right before the big matches and papers you would find James F. Potter roaming the halls of the school in the wee hours of morning, hands tightly clutching onto a mug that says, "You are ENOUGH" (his parents gifted him this in 3rd year when they noticed he was not doing well). The mug is obviously filled to the brim with either masala chai or cold coffee (the indian one).
2. He smelled like cloves
now this is something I have observed in my day to day life and feel like James too, would partake in. He would be the kind to use "spicy" toothpaste. simply because he thinks they last longer or smth. Effie also makes him homemade oil that has cloves (idk what they do I just associate the spice with him OKAY?) So basically when his partner(s) kiss him, they taste and smell clove. And it is not a comforting spice like cinnamon but imagine a whitewashed Regulus getting used to the sting of cloves and the horrible dant kanti-esque taste because the boyfriend uses them. There is a point when Regulus just starts carrying around a small bottle of clove oil or a box of clove and elaichi daana because James smells like cloves and Sirius like cardamom (FIGHT ME.)
3. Resident Problem Solver
Was he mischievous? Hell yes. Did he still make efforts to make sure everyone was okay? Duh.
James would be the kind to ask everyone about their day at the dinner table and be actually interested in what they have to say. He would notice when one of his friends were having a hard day and just drop a ladoo on their plate or ask them if they would like "non-spicy" chai. He would be the peacemaker. ALWAYS. He DID not like conflict. It hurt his soul to watch his friends fight or give each other a cold shoulder.
4. He LOVED being Desi.
he had the diaspora issue, obviously. But Effie and Monty came from the pre-partition India and tried to hold onto their country as much as they could. So James was super used to all the desi things. He had a head full of thick luscious curls because his mother massaged oil and gave him champi every week. When he moved to Hogwarts his hair suffered a little before the Summer when Sirius visited the Potters. Effie taught both of them how to apply oil onto each other's scalps and then it became their tradition at Hogwarts.
5. When Sirius returned bald.
there is a very popular HC that one year Walburga shaved Sirius' hair off because he was being disrespectful or smth. That year, James developed a variant of Indulekha x Parachute Coconut Oil (come on Desis i know you know what I mean) and made sure Sirius had his long hair back before Christmas. He would personally look after his diet, forcing amla tea down his throat or making sure he is eating 3-4 meals that consist of healthy things and not just meat as Sirius would otherwise have it.
Regulus fell in love with James around this time because he did smth he could not, protect Sirius. He went as far as daring Walburga to try to do it again, James would make sure Sirius grows his hair longer than ever.
ps. he was the one who came up with curl-care routine for the marauders and all of them had PJO cast like hair it was so cute jadfiqgfuiwgiuu okay
6. He did not practice any religion
James was not religious, he was spiritual. He did whatever his mum, who herself practiced two religions, told him to do. Both Effie and Monty believed in giving back to the society more than giving to some religious institute, so imagine a first year James rushing into Poppy's wing with an injured bird in his hand begging her to save it.
7. He was the people's princess.
fight the wall. everyone, even the slytherins, secretly LOVED him and the gulab jamuns he would give out on Diwali every year.
8. Enjoyer of classical music.
I have said it before, I will say it again. MY MANZ LISTENED TO GHULAM ALI. idc if he was muggle or what, he loved his music, language be damned.
he enjoyed urdu ghazals more than anything else tbh.
9. TRAINED CLASSICAL MUSICIAN
he was trained in sitar and he could sing as well. he was basically an in house singer. He learnt electric guitar in his 2nd year and then there was no looking back. If he would not have been a professional quidditch player he would have been a musician or a music teacher or smth.
10. he was a STEM student.
okay this is non-canon but comp sci major James? who also happens to enjoy botany? yes. just the best.
11. James who would slip into Urdu when he was overwhelmed, who loved when people played with his hair. James who wrote letters in Urdu or Hindi or whatever regional language his parents spoke and wrote.
12. James potter who hated how his eyes were brown, just brown, growing up. but then one day his mother told him it is what she loves the best about him.
13. James Potter with bitten lips, he does that whenever he is nervous.
14. James Potter who was born during sunrise, his mother believes he is the sun.
15. James who would lay his life for his friends. James who loved hugging Peter, James who committed crimes for Remus.
16. James who adored and admired Minerva so much that he would try everything to get her attention, except he was her favourite student after Lily and Remus (Sirius was her son, let us all be honest).
17. James who played Carnatic Music while studying.
18. James who would wear short kurtas. james who is obsessed with shawls.
19. James who carried a bag full of supplies his friends might need. Like imagine a pouch filled with hair elastics for Sirius and the girls, painkillers for Remus, fidget toys and stress ball for Peter, and cloves for Regulus.
20. James WHO FOUGHT THE AUTHORITY!!!
-- I WILL ADD MORE DW LET ME THINK--
ADD YOURS TOO BTW COME ON HELP A DEMIGIRL OUT

in honour of his birthday, here are some of my personal james headcanons <3
he’s very much the mother hen friend. he has everything anyone could need in his backpack (tissues, pads, chapstick, plasters etc), and somehow has everyone’s schedules memorised.
although he’s quite a strict quidditch captain, he really cares about his team. he makes sure they’re all okay, and he gives his signature ‘james potter pep talk’ when it’s needed.
he LOVES planning pranks with the other marauders, even if they are relatively harmless. he loves the adrenaline of possibly getting caught, and just causing chaos in general.
he constantly runs his fingers through his hair subconsciously, especially when he’s nervous. it helps him calm down.
he lives in his red converse, and they have little drawings all over them too (he let regulus draw little stars on the sides)
if there’s one thing james potter misses when he’s at hogwarts, its his mums cooking. it’s genuinely one of his favourite things ever.
he can’t sit still, and will be tapping his feet, bouncing his leg or tapping on the table. he is the definition of fidgety.
his favourite season is summer. he loves going to the beach, he loves building sandcastles, the whole lot. he also loves late night campfires with friends, and just spending time with them in general.

Christmas Fics 2023 (Part 3):
I Gave You My Heart by queenkhaleesistark - T, one-shot - One-shot After the year she's had Hermione just wants a drink and to see her godchildren at the annual Potter Christmas party. She doesnt expect who turns up at the door.
A Bottle of Blotson's by thepotterfamily - E, WIP - A little Christmas tale in which Hermione and Draco are workaholics spending the holidays in the Ministry halls together, but separate. In which Draco steals Hermione’s ink and makes up for it with the best gift she’s ever received. In a world where Draco is Hermione’s golden boy and Hermione is Draco’s saving grace, please enjoy my ten-part Christmas tale that is really more of a New Years Eve story. Eventually NSFW.
Willow Weep for Me by MilanScolding - E, WIP - Hermione Granger is now realizing that the price she paid for her parents’ safety may have been costlier than she can contend with. Alone and grieving, she seeks refuge in a town rife with their ghosts. Draco Malfoy is lost without direction, after all that he has been raised to be and believe is shattered. Grave whispers and hostile stares follow him wherever he goes, a reminder that a reckoning awaits for his service to the Dark Lord. How then, do they only find comfort with each other in a muggle park, when mere months ago they were sworn enemies? *** AKA traumatized!Hermione and traumatized!Draco find that misery loves company, but it gets harder and harder to be miserable when your company of choice is not ugly, gives you good tea recipes, and kisses you when rip roaring drunk
Pink by TeTe91 - G, one-shot - It's quite embarassing how long it took Hermione to figure out that the pair of pink socks that appeared on her stack of laundry are her fellow Head Boy's lucky item. The final Quidditch match before the winter holidays is fast approaching and all signs predict a win of Hufflepuff over Slytherin. Still, it's such fun to watch Draco grow more unhinged by the day. She will mend the socks - no need to worry - but first she'll lean back and enjoy the show.
Meet Me Under the Mistletoe by Anonymous - E, one-shot - An obnoxious best friend and her too-tall heels. A mystery man in a dragon mask. One stupid little sprig of mistletoe. Hermione Granger had no idea what she was getting into when she showed up at Hyperion Enterprises' Christmas Masquerade.
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by Biirdiee_Rose - E, one-shot - “What does what mean?” James asks through a mouthful of cake. “Milf,” Scorpius says, watching the other two’s expressions cautiously for reactions. “McLaggen just called my mum a ‘milf extraordinaire’.” James just cackles while Albus looks sheepish. “Mum I’d like to fuck.” The older boy says simply while Scorpius blinks in confusion. “Excuse me?” “That’s what milf means, mum I’d like to fuck.” - While at the annual Hogwarts Fundraiser, Scorpius learns a new word and that unfortunately people associate his mother with it. Meanwhile after the event is over, Draco is more than happy to demonstrate to his wife just exactly how much she fits the definition.
To Deserve This by potterhead25919 - T, one-shot - no summary
A Christmas Wish for Two (Blaise, Not Included) by MarinaJune - M, one-shot - Hermione just wants Draco to join her at the Burrow on Christmas Day, but he'd rather not--how can she convince him otherwise?
The Snowball Fight by potterhead25919 - E, one-shot - no summary
Ungentlemanly Warfare by Anonymous - E, one-shot - Aurors Malfoy and Granger are on protective detail for the Minister and his wife as they make a series of appearances over the festive season. The best way to liven up the long and boring shifts? Challenge your colleague to a magical prank war. But in the heat of battle, anything can happen. Featuring weaponised Christmas songs, magical topiary, and Minister Percy Weasley and his wife Pansy, who are desperate for some alone time.

What’s that, Addie? You’ve posted a new fanfiction? Called ‘Here We Go Again”? And it’s a mamma mia au?????
yep! read a snippet below the cut, then head down to read the full chapter on Ao3!
The night sky was cloudless the evening Teddy sent the letters. The letter addressed to a ‘James Potter’, ‘Peter Pettigrew,’ and a ‘Sirius Black’.
Teddy ran to the edge of the dock where his friends arrived, screaming. “Harry! Mione! Ron!” He shouted as they noticed him and began running towards him.
“Teddy!”
They exchanged hugs and cheek kisses, with a little bit of “Did you cut your hair?”
“Guys, guys. I’ve got something to tell you.” Teddy whispered.
Harry raised his eyebrow. “What?” Teddy smiled and bit his bottom lip. “What!?” Harry asked again, exasperated.
“Come here.” Teddy said and ran towards the trees, where there was little chance they would be caught talking. “Okay, so you know how my mum and dad split after I was born?” He questioned. Harry, Ron, and Hermione nodded. “I found my dads old diary, because he’s been moping about lately, talking about love and how blissful it is while it lasts.” Teddy rolled his eyes.
“Yeah? And?” Ron asks.
“Let me read his first entry to you. ‘Honey, how you thrill me’”
“Uh huh?” Harry breathed. “Who’s the lucky woman?”
Teddy held up a finger to signal to wait. “‘Honey, i’ve heard about him before, I wanted to know some more, now I know what they mean…’”
“What else?” Hermione asked.
“‘He’s a love machine! Oh he makes me dizzy!’” Teddy exclaimed. “And so, we know he’s in love with a guy here, but it says that he had to leave because he thought my dad was cheating on him. But my dad says in the diary he was shopping for engagement rings! They were about to get married!”
Hermione covered her mouth. “That’s awful! Does it say Mr. Lupin tried to tell the mystery man that?”
“It says that he tried and the mystery man didn’t believe him.”
“Okay but why did this have to be so secretive?” Ron asked.
Teddy tutted. “Just wait, Ron. So basically I looked through his old photos and saw a picture dated the same date as the 1st diary entry. He has his arm around 3 guys! Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, and Sirius Black!”
“Yeah? What’s that got to do with anything?” Harry asked.
“So I want my dad to be happy! He’s been acting like an angsty teen! And…” Teddy trailed off.
“And…?” Hermione inquired.
“And I invited them all to come to my wedding!” Teddy told them.

he whined. loads. not like whinging but like genuinely high pitched whines when he was frightened or upset, kind of like Enid from Wednesday

he fought w sirius a lot. im sorry I love them both but brothers fight and like. even found family brothers. sirius is the most petty bitch you cannot tell me that James didn't get annoyed or frustrated with some of Sirius' habits and didn't begin arguments over them
so bad w kids until Harry. he was absolutely terrified of them, cos he never had interacted with them much before he had his own, my man Sucked at babysitting and frequently panicked whilst lily was pregnant because he was scared he'd be a bad parent

Lily Potter (Evans)
actually thought the Marauders were pretty funny but put on a face because of being friends with Snape
a whole pansexual queen
bought everyone in Gryffindor Christmas gifts, or if they were Jewish/Muslim/any other religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas she'd figure out when their holiday was and got them gifts
first person Remus came out to. and she accepted him immediately because she knows what it feels like to be an outcast
so autistic. her special interest was absolutely Jane Austen books I take no criticism <3
Regulus Black
hated his mum just as much as Sirius, but actively tried to conform because he was too scared to be hurt by her
was angry with Sirius for running away, even if he understood why Sirius did it, it still hurt him immensely. that was his older brother, the only one he could talk to, and when he left, it broke off the little bit of familial love he had left
in love w Barty Crouch Jr. I DO NOT CARE. platonic my aSS they were boyfriends, but they hid it very well. absolutely such a healthy couple before the war though. got together when they were 13 or 14 by accident, and stayed together until Reg died
actually really enjoyed being called Reg and Reggie, but pretended to hate it so he wouldn't be perceived as weak or soft by his mum
chess fucking champion
Marlene McKinnon
the flirtiest person you'll ever meet. flirted with everyone but was actually an aromantic lesbian
loved her family unconditionally, and constantly was going home on weekends to help her mum before she died of breast cancer
hated school, she was dyslexic and never told anyone so everyone just thought she was a dumb blonde
half Japanese, but her biological father left when she was a baby, so she wasn't really in tune with that part of her culture.
got bullied in primary school for being the "only dumb Asian"
Mary Macdonald
the most supportive person you'll ever meet
helped the younger POC in Gryffindor take care of their hair properly, and absolutely was like an older sister to all the young girls

Barty Crouch Jr.
gay little lad with gay handwriting

Give me a sample for prompt 48 plzzzz
Hey! Thanks for the prompt <3
I actually got this one twice but rather than have you share the angsty result, I thought I'd do another.
“I called you at 2am because I need you.”
to dream the impossible dream
Canon 860 words
The unmistakable sound of his best friend calling his name rouses him. Bleary-eyed, he tosses his arm carelessly to the bedside table, fingers reaching around the cool smooth surface.
“Prongs? Do you mean to say—”
“Sirius this is serious.”
The sound of light laughter fills his dimly lit bedroom, James fumbles for his glasses, squinting at the mirror in his hand.
A glimpse of auburn hair, a flash of pale neck as she tosses her head back, Lily Evans.
“You don’t understand— where did Mary go? She gets it…”
James hears his best friend chuckle, the image on the small rectangle in his hand sways with their movement, their location indiscernible.
“Mary, my dear, is utterly sloshed and insisted on finding a chippy that she swears she knows how to find; the pack followed her.”
“I like chips, chips are delicious— almost as delicious as dimples, you know who has a great dimple? Your best mate.”
The chuckle returns, a feminine sigh feathering through the sound.
He’s dreaming, he must be dreaming.
James pulls himself up in bed, resting his back against the headboard, stretching his neck from side to side, in the hope of gathering his wits.
“Let’s wait here for everyone—” The steady motion comes to a halt, his friend’s leg in view “—you have any other thoughts on this best mate of mine?”
Sirius lifts his arm, sending a wink to James through the reflective glass, and angling it so the girl next to him fills the small frame. Her head rests back against a brick wall, a smile spreading from cheek to cheek.
“So many, all the time.”
“More than you think about the giant squid?”
She wets her lips, releasing another soft sigh, “More than I think about magic, probably.”
Merlin, it’s impossible, it’s a dream, just a really good dream.
“Prongs?”
“James Fleamont Potter, your James.”
“You sure he isn’t your James.”
“I wish he were here—”
“Yeah?”
A crease pulls her brows together, a fleeting sadness.
“I smell vinegar, hold this, I’ll be over there…”
The perspective shifts, he can’t make out much in the streetlight, shadowed outline, the corner of a fringed smock.
If this is a dream, he doesn’t want to waste it. He wants more of her, to talk to her, see her clearer, look her in the eye.
“All right Evans?”
His voice is coarse, a cough follows and when he recovers, there she is sparkling green eyes sweeping over his bed-messed hair, his flushed cheeks.
“James?” A breathy whisper that sends a shiver through him.
He sends her a bashful wave, he wants to memorise this look on her face, a look of delight, of wonder.
“You’re in bed.”
An easy smile pulls at his lips, “It’s almost two o’clock in the morning—”
“You didn’t come out.”
She pouts her lip, and he considers that maybe she believes it a dream, her mind creating a drunken conjuring.
“Mum doesn’t approve of mixing Pepper-Up with firewhisky…”
“You’re hot, I mean are you hot? I— Sirius said— do you still have a fever?”
His breathing is heavy and his chest hammers against his ribs.
“I think I’m feeling better actually.”
“Yeah?”
“I mean, I— unless this is just all fever-fueled delirium.”
She tilts her head to the side, studying him intently, a soft smile lifting her lips. She opens her mouth, looks away, and closes it. Her head shakes from side to side and her eyes look more awake when they return to him.
“You sure you’re feeling better?”
“Oh, ‘eh, yeah, reckon so.”
“I think I need to check for myself, do you fancy some chips?”
“What?”
The rest of the soon-to-be seventh-year Gryffindors appear in the background of the small mirror as if from nowhere.
“James invited us over for a nightcap, shall we find a floo?”
The mirror passes back to his best friend, a brief wink and it disconnects.
He stumbles from bed, feet solid on the wooden floor, and tangles himself while changing out of his pyjamas, his body bubbles with anticipation, if this is a dream it’s more real than any he’s ever had before.
Laughter, followed by shushing, travels up the stairs as he descends, a welcome sound of life in the quiet old house.
“Morning, all.”
Remus pats him on the shoulder as he passes, Sirius wears a wide grin, “To the kitchen—”
Everyone follows, the promise of a cool butterbeer to wash down their food.
They’re all here, Lily is here.
She stops in front of him and runs a hand through his dishevelled hair, her knuckles skimming his cheek.
“You’re flushed.”
“Uhuh—”
He has no doubt, no means to cool himself, no potion to cure the cause.
He brings her hand to his chest.
“Rapid heartbeat too, it’s the Evans effect.”
Pushing onto her tiptoes, she presses her cool lips to his cheek, covering his dimple.
Threading their fingers together, both hands, palm to palm, Lily rests her head on his chest as if she’s in communion with his heart.
“You have that effect on me too, James.”
To dream the impossible dream, only to have reality be that much sweeter.

i guarantee you sirius black would absolutely break and shatter on one random tuesday afternoon at age sixteen when he’s sitting in the potters lounge room and he’s doing homework or plying a game or something and he does something right and just celebrates quietly by telling james and effie overhears as she’s walking past and just pets the top of his head and mindlessly says she’s proud of him before going on with her day and oh my god sirius would shatter that would be the first time anyone - especially a mother figure - had said they were proud of him and especially for something so small and she’d come running back because he’s crying and he’s sobbing into her shoulder and without thinking he just says thank you mum to her and then she starts sobbing violently and then james is watching and he’d feel so sad for his best friend and also so happy that he’s in a safe space so he’s start violently sobbing and falling apart and then flea would come down with the sound and see them all violently sobbing and he’d start bawling his eyes out himself because he absolutely would and imagine them all in a big pile cuddling half on the couch half on the floor and they’re all just hyperventilating and ugly crying
the potters <3
