Corner Office and Mental Health
Tumblr media
I just watched Corner Office a couple hours ago, and it’s… hard to describe. Best way I can explain is it’s like Wes Anderson directed American Psycho. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Basically, if you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend doing so.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
————————————————————————
I don’t know how to begin this. It’s more a thought dump than anything. I’ll just start by saying the movie felt very surreal, which I guess is kind of the point. You have a guy who seems to live a fairly normal life, aside from being fairly neurotic. And one day, he finds this room that nobody else can see. More details on that later.
But as the movie goes on, you see how the MC (Orison) is not a reliable narrator (and he is narrating for about 95% of the movie). We see how sensitive he is of the details in his surroundings. The way he over-analyzes the world around him, sometimes accurately, sometimes not. We see how awkward he is in social situations. There’s emphasis on how his unusual thought process influences the world around him and vice versa.
And I don’t want to admit this, but I relate on a certain level. I discovered 15 years after my diagnosis, that I have autism. When I learned I had it, it was like a puzzle piece that completed the bigger picture. I understood why something felt off about my behaviors and why it felt like I was behind on emotional maturity. I realized why I do things differently. But it also made me paranoid about the way people perceive me. It made me reflect on past experiences and try to “mask” more often, which I didn’t even know was a thing.
I don’t know what Orison has, if anything, but he rarely self-reflects. And the few times he does, it’s a detriment to his mental health. When he changes his outward behaviors, he becomes tired and frustrated. His work suffers, which seems to be his only purpose in life. Yes, people like him more, but to what end? To just exist?
And that’s where the room comes in. It’s semi-ambiguous as to what the room is, but is implied early on to be a sort of self-induced psychological coping mechanism. When he enters this “perfect room”, his coworkers only see him staring at the wall. But it provides a space for him to clear his mind and work more efficiently. But he’s seen as odd despite being equally productive as his coworkers, if not more, due to this.
Obviously, I’m no expert on mental health. My highest education on the subject is a Psych 101 class from freshman year of college. But I drew some parallels from his life to mine, and it was heartbreaking. It was hard to see him struggling in life because of the way he thought, and the half-assed help he received; To work and be punished for finding different solutions. That, coupled with the obnoxious bureaucracy of a dying corporate office, moved something in me. Idk. That’s all.

some follow-up thoughts on BnHA 306
mostly Deku angst, but also a little Baku angst (and some TodoBaku angst) mixed in for good measure. because there’s plenty of angst to go around.
1. “if I’d only been stronger...”
I’ll talk more about Deku later in this post as well, because there’s definitely plenty to talk about; this is the most character development he’s gotten in almost 200 chapters. but for starters, I want to discuss the possible parallels between Deku’s current character arc, and what is arguably the most iconic moment of angst/character development in the series.
Tumblr media
remember how this kid, who up until this point had rarely seemed to give two fucks about the world around him, suddenly revealed that he blamed himself for being the downfall of All Might? remember how it came almost out of nowhere? how he’d been hiding it, and trying to suppress it? “but even if I try to forget... sometimes it all just comes rushing back.”
yeah. so anyway, I got to thinking -- if being the cause of one hero’s downfall could affect someone this badly, what about being responsible for the downfall of all heroes?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what if a boy who wanted nothing more than to keep people safe suddenly found himself at the epicenter of a disaster that killed hundreds, possibly even thousands of people?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now obviously, this is not the sole thing that’s troubling Deku right now; this kid has a whole array of traumas as of the War arc. like, you know it’s bad when Society As We Know It Coming To An End Partially Because Of You is the least of your problems. but still, I think this is worth bringing up, because the hero kids blaming themselves for things that aren’t their fault is hardly anything new. and yet, what with everything else that’s been going on -- all of the Todoroki drama, and Vestige revelations, and hospital antics, and political strife -- I feel like it’s easy to forget or overlook this little detail.
the fact is that AFO put this entire plan into motion solely in the hopes of finally obtaining OFA. every single thing that happened at Jakku -- Tomura powering up; Machia waking up and going on his rampage (after being ordered to do so by Tomura); and even Dabi/Touya choosing this moment to finally strike (because he knew this was when the reveal would do the maximum damage -- when people’s faith in heroes was already wavering) -- every last bit of it can ultimately be traced back to AFO’s desire to steal OFA. which, obviously, makes it AFO’s fault, not Deku’s. but then, Kamino wasn’t actually Katsuki’s fault either. it wasn’t his fault the villains went after him (but he blamed himself anyway), and it wasn’t his fault that people got hurt in the ensuing battle to save him (but he blamed himself anyway).
just. I think we’re underestimating just how strong of an impact all of this likely had on Deku. we haven’t really had the chance to see him process it yet. he’s been too busy, and there have been too many other things going on. but I’m telling you guys, that empty look in his eyes in the final page of the chapter? I can all but guarantee you that at least some of that emotional weight is coming from this.
sure would be nice if he had a friend who knew exactly what that was like, and could help him process the guilt and all of the other associated emotions, just like Deku once helped him. unfortunately I’m not so sure things will be that easy this time around. anyways though let’s move on to a couple of other thoughts and speculations.
2. “...and I bullied him.”
one of my least-favorite BnHA fanfic tropes is the one where the rest of class 1-A somehow finds out about Katsuki and Deku’s history -- i.e. that Katsuki bullied Deku throughout most of their childhood. mind you, it’s not the concept itself that I dislike; it’s mostly how it’s used. a lot of times it’s just an excuse to have all of the other kids turn on Katsuki and ostracize him; either because the author thinks that’s what he deserves, or else so that Deku can eventually come to his rescue and defend him and shame the rest of the class for not seeing how much he’s changed. either way, it’s usually pretty awkward to read, and more often than not the characters are pretty OOC (especially Ochako and Todoroki).
however! there’s a big difference between fanfic and canon, and just because I’m not a fan of this trope in the former doesn’t mean it couldn’t be executed well in the latter. and lately I’ve been thinking about this a lot. mainly for three reasons:
the recent (can we still call it recent?? well whatever) scene where Katsuki confessed to All Might that he used to bully Deku is now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and proof that this can be executed well.
both Todoroki and Deku have finally had their respective big secrets revealed to the rest of the class. so like, idk. feels like it just might be secret-revealing season now, you know?
and lastly, as a result of Deku’s secret about OFA finally being revealed, the rest of 1-A now either knows, or can extrapolate, that he used to be quirkless.
and from there, I feel like it’s not all that hard to put two and two together with how terrible Kacchan and Deku’s relationship was when they first started at UA. that’s not a terribly difficult puzzle to solve. so I feel like it might come out anyway, and if so, I’d prefer Bakugou telling them himself, and taking responsibility as part of his atonement process. because we know that he regrets it. we know their relationship has changed. we know that he has changed. and so I think I might like to see this.
alternately, if confessing to the entire class is too much, at the very least I could see him confessing to Shouto, because I’ve always felt like this was one of the big things that made Katsuki so resistant to letting Todoroki call him a friend. because I feel like there’s a part of Katsuki that saw the parallels between Endeavor’s abuse of Shouto and his own bullying of Deku, and thought, he wouldn’t be so quick to call me his friend if he actually knew the truth. and so there’s actually been this roadblock wedged between them this whole time that Shouto doesn’t even know about. because Shouto hates Endeavor. and so it’s not such a leap to assume he’d hate Katsuki too if he knew just how terrible he’d been to Deku when they were younger.
not that I think he actually would! actually I don’t think either of those things is actually true (because Shouto clearly doesn’t hate his father either, in spite of everything that’s happened). but the point isn’t what I think -- the point is what Katsuki thinks. and I really do think there’s a good chance he’s worried about Shouto hating him, and it’s one of the things that’s made him so reluctant to accept his friendship. anyway, so I’m really just rambling now, but you get my point. I don’t know if this is actually going to happen, but it’s a scene I would like to see if Horikoshi decides to indulge me.
3. “...so when you wake up, please give him my best.”
Tumblr media
and now, as promised, back to Deku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ngl guys, when I first saw this image, my immediate thought was that Gran must have died. because I mean, hello, leaving U.A.?? donning himself in his teacher’s old cape?? empty, exhausted look in his eyes?? what else were we supposed to think lol.
but maybe that was an overreaction. because when I think about it more, Gran’s death isn’t strictly necessary in order to push Deku over the edge. first of all, there’s already the whole “hero society is in ruins now because of you” thing I mentioned earlier. but also, there are just so many other things. like, let’s just list them here because omg. what a rough couple of days this kid had.
he was forced to battle TomurAFO and was terribly injured in the process (most of which was his own fault, but he wouldn’t have gone that far with OFA unless he felt like he had no choice)
and it wasn’t just him that was injured, either. in fact, even though he tried to act as bait to keep everyone else safe, he wasn’t able to stop three of the people closest to him from nearly being killed right before his eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and of course that last one was especially traumatic, because it was Kacchan, and because he had to watch Kacchan nearly die just to protect him. out of all the things that Deku witnessed in this arc, this might be the one that had the biggest impact on him
he was also basically helpless to do anything to protect Shouto and Endeavor when Dabi showed up. so again, we have this running theme of people he cares about being hurt and him not being able to save them
and he also got sucked into the OFA Interstellar Dream Vortex for a brief spell during the battle, during which he learned that AFO had possessed Tomura. more importantly, he learned that Tomura was Nana’s grandson, a fact which was only briefly touched on during that scene, but which I think wound up being the trigger to the whole avalanche that ended with Deku leaving UA. but more on that in a moment
anyway so just to wrap this all up, the battle eventually ended, Tomura got away despite all of their efforts, and then Deku wound up comatose in the hospital for two days. which brings us to the most recent chapters, during which
Deku learns that he will be the last wielder of OFA, whether he likes or not
Deku learns the identity of the last two mystery OFA users
and then at some point, he wakes up and presumably talks to Gran, and winds up with his cape
something happened during these last two scenes which helped to push Deku over the edge. I won’t delve into the matter of the Second or Third users for now, although most of you already know my suspicions regarding that, and I do think that would fit into the general pattern here (that is, the pattern of Deku feeling more and more strongly that he is putting the people around him in danger, and his fear of losing them becoming so overwhelming that it eventually pushes him to leave).
but that’s not what I want to talk about for now. what I want to talk about is Gran. specifically, what it is that Deku discussed with Gran. and this is where we come back to that reveal I mentioned earlier -- that Tomura is Nana’s grandchild.
Tumblr media
basically, what I think happened is that Deku mentioned seeing Nana in the OFA Zany Psychedelic Spirit Void, which led to the topic of Tomura, and the fun fact Deku recently learned about him being related to Nana. this, in turn leads to Gran divulging his various regrets about everything that happened with him and Nana and Kotarou. his intent is to apologize to Deku for placing the burden of their failures on him. unfortunately, the part that Deku actually gets fixated on instead is this:
All for One hunted down and killed Nana’s son (and probably her husband as well), and stole her grandchild and psychologically tortured him into becoming a mass murderer, for no other reason than that Nana had once held OFA
in other words, AFO can and will hurt and kill anyone Deku is close to, anyone who has any kind of connection to him at all, without mercy, and regardless of whether it actually gives him any kind of tactical advantage or not. he’ll do it simply to hurt him. no other reason necessary.
I don’t know about you, but for me that would be a terrifying realization. and for Deku, I think it just might have been the tipping point.
so, let’s recap.
Deku learns that AFO is after him
AFO/Tomura very nearly kills several of Deku’s most important people, including Kacchan
and then he learns that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and realizes that all of their lives are still in danger and will continue to be as long as Deku is AFO’s target
and then add to all of this the misplaced guilt about society already being shambles, and the heroes already having more than enough to worry about. they’re barely holding things together as it is. and we already know how Deku feels about being a burden to them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and so instead, he leaves. of course he does. in hindsight, I think this was inevitable.
the question is, did anyone else also put the pieces together in time to realize what Deku was planning before he actually left? specifically, did Katsuki, who understands Deku’s self-sacrificial nature better than anyone else, see the signs and put two and two together? like he did back at Jakku?
Tumblr media
and if he did, would Deku have been willing to accept his help again?
Tumblr media
somehow, I can’t help but think it might not be that easy this time.
anyway, so that was a lot of rambling, lol. sorry about that. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS about all of this angsty shit. tired nomad Deku needs hugs and comfort and someone to reassure him that he doesn’t have to face this alone, and that everything is going to be all right. HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY. this is too much, and I cannot handle any of these feels, and oh my god, somebody please help him.

The possibility of Dabihawks linked past: yes i’m still not over it
Now that chapter 350’s out, the dabihawks childhood friends theory is pretty much dead - or is it really? They might not be friends in the past but I’m 70% sure there is some kind of connection beyond just parallels as narrative foils.
Toga is Uraraka’s narrative foil - Hori said he made Toga for Uraraka, after all - but we don’t often see their childhood being presented side to side, right? Yet every time we see a little bit of Todoroki Touya’s past, we also see a piece of Takami Keigo’s story.
Warning: what ur about to read contains serious brainrot, a ton of overanalyses, and is probably the furthest from accurate. I’m just listing out my suspicions and guesses here, which has turned into rambling by this point. I’M SO SORRY.
Here are some unresolved questions about their arc:
Hawks’s “who are you” & almost calm expression at the Keigo Takami name drop
the infamous black bubble
How did Dabi find Hawks’s mom with only a C in intelligence (i’m sorry)
Scary men = Dabi’s thugs? Hawks’s mom leaving to stop causing him trouble, but to where?
Hawks’s dad: a thief or a serial robber & killer?
Name drop & the black bubble: One could argue that the “who are you” is just setting up for the Touya reveal, and I think that’s pretty much the case. But to really answer Hawks’s question, “Todoroki Touya” must be a person who has means to know Hawks’s name. Or at least knows that Tomie is Hawks’s mother.
Hawks’s face in that panel is almost…pacified? Calm? Curious? As if it’s not an alarming fact that his deadly enemy knows his dead name. Although it’s possible that it’s just how Keigo usually show emotions without that Wing Hero Hawks mask.
Some people see words in that black bubble, but there’s also a circle around those words, which makes it about 80% clear that it was just the speaker bubbles on the other side of the page. And even if “轰灯矢” or “endeavor’s son” is really what’s written underneath, the font is not big enough to warrant such a big bubble. It’s the lost piece in the puzzle - the explanation of why Todoroki Touya is someone that knows Hawks’s mom, knows where to look for his identity. And I think now Touya’s backstory is mostly revealed, we are about to know the full secret behind that black bubble.
Hawks went to his mother’s house, and thought the name was leaked from his mother after all since supposedly there’s no other person who knew his name & story - ok. But. Look at what he said before he was convinced that Dabi knew his name from his mother. “How did Dabi even go that far” “did Dabi use people for this” “Guess it was really my mom who leaked it” - like idk but it sounds like he’s not sure about this conclusion at all. Sounds like he has considered other possibilities but casted them aside when he saw his mom’s letter.
Speaking of the letter: the last time we saw a letter by someone who left was Izuku leaving UA. Would Hawks go look for his mother after the war arc is over, just like how 1-A has gone out to find Izuku? When Hawks was with the Todoroki family, he also expressed his regret not being able to save his own parents. Would we know the whole truth of how Dabi found her by then?
Takami the Thief was first brought up by the villain, Ending, so we know that the public knowledge about Takami didn’t go further than “car thief” - and why was it that Hawks’s dad’s true crimes needed to be hidden from public? What warranted the No.2 Hero Endeavor traveling across Japan to catch such a person?
Side note: When I first read Ending’s lines, I can’t help but notice how much his experience resembles that of Hawks - the capture of Thief Takami seemed to have endeared Endeavor to Ending in great ways, and then he claimed “7 years ago, I lost it, you caught me”(it’s also recent to when Touya burnt to death, which is 8 years ago), then it was shown that Endeavor remembered Ending and even recognized that he gave himself a villain name.
In his childhood flashbacks, Keigo and his mom were both seen wearing striped clothing which reminds me a lot of Ending’s clothing and quirk. — All I’m saying is that Ending probably had some connections with the Takami family, and it’s why the Takami case has been special to him. (A minor point is Hawks’s mom’s name, Tomie, which contains a character that means “to paint,” and Ending’s quirk is associated with the paint on the pavement.)
Dabi “dug out something” about Hawks’s past and came to the conclusion that he lived under constant influence of violence since his father was a serial robber & murderer, captured by Endeavor. But he didn’t bring up Takami the Thief on TV - hasn’t mention that name at all. Which means Takami Thief probably wouldn’t ring a bell in public ears, or else Dabi just had to say “Hawks’s father is the infamous Takami Thief” instead of prefacing it with all that. But Dabi made Takami’s crimes seem pretty serious, serious enough to stay in public memory - I mean, a serial killer captured by Endeavor himself, that gotta be one of Endeavor’s great victories worthy of remembrance, right? Is Dabi, idk, leaving Hawks some privacy over his name?
If dabihawks really have a linked past, when could they have come into contact before we saw them interact in canon?
Endeavor could have brought Touya along to Fukuoka when he arrested Takami the Thief, or Touya could’ve obtained that information on TV since he seemed adamant on watching every one of his father’s fights. Young Keigo told his father that his feathers sensed commotion in town, and that’s why he slipped out. It could be that he sensed the Heroes’ arrival in his living area.
When Touya was 12-13 and still attending school, Hawks was starting his training in the HPSC, presumably also in Mustafu - correct me if im wrong
Side note: we mostly assumed that Hawks would’ve never left HPSC during his training but what if that wasn’t the case?
During the early days Touya was wandering the streets, when his skin hadn’t required staples & he hadn’t dye his hair; Hawks was just starting his hero career.
Ok most of this is me obsessing over unimportant stuff. If u had read to here, u r an amazing human, i love u and im sorry for attacking ur eyes with my pointless ramblings. Anyways, if ur as invested in the childhood friends theory as I am, let’s not give up on the hope just yet <3

Professor Layton Iceberg Explanation
As I said in the tags of the original, the iceberg I made was a meme consisting of both real theories and satire/parodies/fandom memes. If anyone is interested, I can work on an unironic version that only has real theories.
Buckle in because this post is LONG and heavily saturated with lore and information.
Tumblr media
Actual theories
Parallel universe 1960s where the world wars didn’t happen. There’s an unused file in Curious Village that shows the year as 1960 and the time machine from UF is set to 1973, ten years into the future. The series canonically takes place in an undefined time period (hence the technological inaccuracies and fantasy elements), but it’s based off the 60s. There’s more evidence but we don’t have time to go over every little thing. I linked my “no wars” theory below but TL;DR the outdated airplanes and underdeveloped medicine in the Layton series imply that the world wars may never have happened. https://cayenne-twilight.tumblr.com/post/632205992162099200/outofcontextdiscord-timegearremix-zonosils-war
The real meaning behind the statue in Future London. In UF, the purpose of the statue is to spark Layton and Luke’s conversation about their friendship. Luke is stressing out about moving overseas and sees himself and the professor in the story behind the statue, but in the bigger picture, Clive must have been the one to commission it. Some theorize that the little boy is Clive and the man is either his father or the professor. One idea I’ve seen is that Clive wishes he could be Luke for real, while another is that he wishes he died ten years ago, and another is that he’s literally terminally ill explaining why he doesn’t care about consequence. Personally, I think “the boy succumbed to his illness” refers to his mental illness seeing as he wanted the professor to save him from his madness as he saved him all those years ago.
True location of Monte D’Or. there are no deserts on the British isles to my knowledge, so it makes the most sense for Monte D’Or to be in Southwest USA where English is the default language, they have a desert, and there exists a city famous for flashy hotels, casinos, and entertainment. What makes it odd is that nobody ever mentions overseas travel, and all the major characters are from England.
Loosha’s origins are not explicitly explained if I remember correctly, but the implication was that her prehistoric (supposedly) species was sealed away along with the garden, allowing them to survive all the way to the time of LS until Loosha was the only one left. The garden provided a good habitat and protection from predators, and it’s logical that they’d slowly die out anyways, but there’s no explanation of any specific factors that led to Loosha being the last.
Beasley is not a bee I wrote a post about this one as well, but TL;DR Beasly lacks several defining bee traits whilst having several human ones. He is not human, yet, by definition, not a bee. It’s possible that he is the result of Dimitri’s testing, but whatever his untold story is, he remains an enigma of nature. https://cayenne-twilight.tumblr.com/post/632381715250282496/theory-beasly-isnt-a-bee
Subject 2’s identity is currently unknown. There is a subject one (parrot) and subject 3 (rabbit) so there has to be a second. For a long time, people suspected Beasly to be him seeing as he’s a bit of an amalgamation and definitely not a regular bee (see above). After the release of LMJ, though, people began to suspect Sherl, the intelligent hound who could speak to certain people but not others. That being said, it’s possible for one to be subject 4. Sherl’s memory of a bright flash matches up with subject 3’s memory of being electrocuted. They never explain why the animals were being experimented on, but it was probably Dimitri making sure the conditions of his machine were safe for humans before reliving the incident from ten years ago.
Lady Violet died from the plague from DB. There’s no evidence for this or anything, it’s just an idea. People say she died from the flu but I don’t remember them saying that in the game, at least the US version. Extending off my “no war” theory: it’s theorized that the Spanish Flu was spread by the travlelling soldiers, so if that’s true, it’s possible for the epidemic to have been averted for some decades. Maybe the Spanish Flu reached England later than in real life. The hole in this is that DB’s plague must’ve been close in time to 1918 while Violet’s death was much later, so it would’ve had to stick around.
Bill Hawks is working with Targent and Arthur Cantabella. There was a force in the shadows buying the time machine technology from Bill. Someone with a ton of money who helped him cover up a freak accident and get away with it completely, a feat that involved shady means like violence by hired thugs. Some theorize that it was Targent, seeking power over time in exchange for a little mafia magic. The Labarynthia project was sponsored by the UK government, so as the PM, Bill must’ve known about it. He probably supported dubiously ethical, high stakes (witch pun) psychological experiments like Cantabella’s and helped him stay in the shadows.
All the NPCs in St. Mystere and Folsense are dead. I make fun of this type of theory later, but they’re admittedly captivating. I’m pretty sure the canon in CV is that the villagers are Bruno and Augustus’s OCs that they made robots of and built a town around, but it’s more interesting to think that the village was there before, and the townspeople died of a plague and were replaced like Lady Violet. In Folsense, there really was a plague and they never explain the NPCs there. They’re either real people who appear way younger than they are due to hallucinations (even the ones who already look old ?), or they don’t exist at all, which is pretty spooky. This part of the story is a gaping plot hole. In a similar vein to CV, the edgy yet plausible theory is that they used to live in Folsense but died of the plague and now live on as hallucinations.
Hershel seeing everything as a puzzle is a coping mechanism for all his trauma. This was a joke but I thought about it for more than five seconds and it makes way too much sense.
Plot holes and unexplained questions that we like to overthink because it’s fun
The downfall of the Azran was vaguely explained in canon by people being so greedy that it lead to the civilization collapsing. It’s not a stretch to imagine that happening, but it would’ve been more interesting with a little more detail.
Layton and Luke are programmed to routinely forget how to walk. I didn’t know whether to list this in the joke section or not, but it’s odd that the characters actively participate in the walking tutorial (as opposed to showing a little memo to the player) as if they didn’t know how to before, especially when they go through this several times a year.
The truth behind Pavel. He’s simply a joke character who teleports, is a polyglot (sort of, at least he wants us to think he is) and is mega confused all the time. He’s a fun character to make crack theories about because of his cryptic nature that even he doesn’t seem to understand.
Miracle Mask deleted scenes. The first trailer for MM featured animations that were not in the final game. One was the Randall falling scene, except in a slightly different style than the one we know. Others were completely foreign, like Layton and Luke pacing across a theatre stage as if Layton’s about to expose someone with a dramatic point. Cut content and “could’ve beens” are always curious to think about.
Evan Barde: secret mastermind. Arianna and Tony’s dad is a mysterious character who died under mysterious circumstances. I think the canon is that his death was a genuine accident, but concept art of him making a creepy evil face suggests that maybe he originally had a larger role in the first drafts of LS than the finished game.
The secret to how Paul and Des pull off their disguises is unclear and will remain unclear. There is no plausible explanation for their shape shifting. Unless Paul is just a little dude wearing a human suit like that one Wizard of Oz species and Des is the best quick-changer ever and hides his naturally feminine legs under his cloak.
Alfendi’s mom. When LBMR came out people scrambled to piece together who Hershel had a kid with, but there’s no way alfendi is his biological son. This happened with Kat as well and her biological parents turned out to be brand new characters, so I’m sure Al will get an adoption backstory if his arc continues, be his parents old major characters or nameless, faceless NPCs.
Granny Riddleton and Stachenscarfen are omnipotent deities. Idk which section this fits best under, but these two characters have some serious power. At first introduction, they’re implied to be robots, but they appear everywhere in later games. They follow the Professor wherever he goes and assist him on his adventures, GR collecting puzzles and housing them by some odd magic, and Stachen teaches you how to walk. They both introduce and supervise the gameplay. By extension, I guess this idea could apply to Albus as well in the prequels. GR and Stachen even had the power to appear in LMJ, something no major character could do. I consider them akin to the velvet room attendants from the Persona games.
Clive’s kill count is a vague subject in the game for the sake of keeping it PG. I don’t know if anyone’s ever mathematically estimated the damage he caused, and I sure don’t want to try, but the game appears to push the idea that he didn’t kill anyone at all, saying they stopped him in the nick of time and things like that, even though we watch him raze the city. If they ever want to bring him back post-time skip, I can see them twisting it so that the mobile fortress cutscene wasn’t a linear sequence of events, but instead a compilation of scenes over the course of hours so that London neighborhoods around him could be evacuated and have it make sense. Knowing Level-5, it’s more likely that they wouldn’t think this deep and do something more lazy, though.
Memes and references
Post-time skip Flora is real references the famous L is real theory from Super Mario 64. Like Luigi in SM64, Flora was also a highly anticipated character who didn’t appear in a new game, in this case LMJ or LMDA. In the end, Luigi did become real in the DS port so hopefully Flora is real will be realized as well.
Hershel can’t read is a veteran fandom meme referring to how in the first few games, especially Curious Village, Layton asks Luke to read every document out loud for him. Perhaps this was an exercise to improve Luke’s reading skills and independent thinking, or perhaps he was just too lazy or preoccupied to do it himself, but this grew into the joke that our genius Professor was actually illiterate this whole time.
Layton’s smash invitation is hidden in PLvsAA. It’s no secret that the fandom would kill a man to get the Professor into the smash brothers franchise. In PLvsAA one of the puzzle artworks features a goat eating a familiar white envelope with a red stamp, sparking the joke that either Layton or Wright got the invitation their respective fans desired, but it got lost along the way.
The science board is the mysteriously vague organization Don Paolo got kicked out of for the crime of being evil. It’s the epitome of liberal arts majors and art school graduates trying to bs their way around not knowing any science and failing miserably. “He was very good at all the sciences, but then the CEO of science told him to stop because he was using the power of science for evil science”. They do this again when “Dr. Stahngun” describes his time machine what with the soolha coils and whatnot.
Hoogland is death cult initiation is a parody of “Mario 64 is Freemason initiation” which is ridiculous, just like the creepy human sacrifice subplot of AL.
You can see the reflection of someone watching you in Aurora’s eye references the famous, creepy Talking Angela theory. In retrospect it would’ve been funnier if I said Angela instead of Aurora.
Every copy of Professor Layton is personalized references the famous “every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized”
Clive’s fat ass in HD is a meme that originated from the announcement of UFHD, saying that half of the excited fans wanted to cry again while the other half were simply attracted to Clive. If we want to enter real bottom-section-of-the-iceberg-chart territory then let’s say Clive’s character has some sort of psychological siren properties that draw people to him like a magnet and/or Harry Styles.
Things I pulled out of my ass for shits and giggles
Infinite hint coin hack: I’m sure a tech savvy cheater could hack the game for infinite hint coins, but there’s no easy or interesting way. I don’t know why someone would do that though, considering a lot of the hints suck and there are puzzle guides on the internet.
Cringy, unused Randall villain monologue. This joke is derived from the actual scrapped MM content as well as deleted content being a popular element of iceberg charts, but it’s sadly not real. Would’ve been hilarious, though.
Last Specter Puzzle 031: Light Height tracks and records children’s intelligence level. It doesn’t, but it’s always fun to make fun of arguably THE most ridiculously difficult puzzle in the franchise. (Seriously, do they expect 7+ year olds to know trigonometry???)
Hershel struggles with tea addiction. Hershel from the games drinks tea in moderation, but the manga begs to differ. He has a tea set in the Laytonmobile, and an attempt at teatime while driving causes him to crash.
Folsense is a metaphor for Alzheimer’s. This is inspired by those edgy kids’ show theories where everyone’s in hell or something, but nobody has ever said this.
London Life is reality and the plot of the games is all in Luke’s head. That’s one way to fill every plot hole. How funny would it be if Luke made up crazy characters and stories based off his fellow townspeople Sharkboy and Lavagirl style. “This dude who lives in a castle and asks people to give him all their money for nothing in return is a vampire from 50 years ago involved in a tragic love story”.
Secret ending encoded into Tago’s Head Gymnastics. It’d be crazy if there was, and Dimitri would hound Tago for the secret to time travel. If you didn’t know, the Layton games started as an adaption of Akira Tago’s puzzle series, except they decided to add a story to make it more interesting and marketable.
Daily puzzles datamine your DS. I’m bad with technology but is it even possible to datamine a DS??? Idk, but I think my DS lite from 2008 is safe.

What are your thoughts on Bronte/Fallon? (Or Fintan/Fallon)
will be entirely honest, I don't think about them very frequently, but that does mean going into this I will have a fresh set of eyes to tackle their characters with!
bronte/fallon:
we don't know a lot about fallon, only that he's a Vacker, served on the Original council--with Bronte working as emissary, I believe--and doesn't seem entirely...there, you know? his memeory is fleeting and he doesn't compose himself the way everyone else does. this is attributed to his age, but that's not important right now. But! going back to that council thing! they worked together and have a history spanning longer than most elves have even been alive. there could be a sense of knowing between the two of them, sharing an experience nearly no one else does and an age that separates them from all the inventions and drama of the current era. I mean, I think they both existed before a council even existed, and that's something that's just become normal to everyone else.
bronte has a reputation the same way Fallon does, they've just gone in different directions. Bronte is someone you should avoid because he's cruel and abrasive and doesn't like people, while Fallon is someone you should avoid because he's aloof and has trouble with reality and forgets things. Both of those aren't very accepted in elven society, but both of them paved the future and are respected for that.
if i remember right, Bronte doesn't like Fallon for some unexplained reason, but I'm just going to toss out a possible theory to take into consideration for their relationship. Fallon stepped down from his position to marry and start a family after a thousand or so years of service. I think Bronte may have saw that as weak, a lack of commitment and a softness that he wouldn't want a leader to have. i think he may have been disappointed in Fallon for his decision. My reasoning? Bronte has served a long time on the council, I think longer than Fallon. He started working for the council as an emissary when Serenvale fell to the ogres, and Fallon was still councillor at that time. So, seeing as he is the 19-time great grandparent of Fitz and Biana, estimating elves start the next generation every 100 years or so at the very least, that puts it at around 2100 years ago when Bronte first started working for the government--not necessarily as a councillor. I might be able to figure out that math but I won't do that right now because it's not relevant to the ask more than this, but might do that later just for fun. My point is, 2100 years of service compared to 1000 might make Bronte think he's better than Fallon, more committed and not swayed by familial ties, which would be an interesting dynamic if the two of them ended up together, Bronte engaging in the very thing he hated Fallon for
]Fintan/Fallon:
Oh that's an interesting one! I don't remember when exactly Fintan was serving as a councillor, but if they were serving at the same time, then that opens up so many opportunities. I'll think about him both serving and not serving with Fallon just to postulate about things that could've happened
if Fallon served at the same time as Fintan, there could be a lingering tension on Fintan's end as the council he was on decided that he would need to step down because of his ability. he did agree with this at the time, but we could also go down the route that suppressing his ability for so long made him crack and a little less stable, perhaps in a way that Fallon is as well. there could be something there to explore and their parallels. or he could hold a resentment against Fallon and Fallon alone, going more with the "why did you let me do that to myself" thing, "why didn't you protect me from myself." that could be a good opportunity for something.
if he didn't, then i don't really have a lot to go on aside from a shared public experience of being an ancient member of society who has also served on the council. I don't know when else they could've met or interacted. But this is all also affected by me having very little on Fallon to base this off of--honestly I'm impressed I've gotten this far. Same thing I said with Bronte, there's also rumors about the two of them that are less than positive, so they could bond over that and approach each other with something no one else does, knowing that rumors aren't what they seem. if there's more scenes that have the two of them in common, please let me know and I'd be more than happy to revisit this! I feel like there might be one in Flashback (? whenever Alvar's trial was), but I'm unsure and don't want to drag this on!
to summarize: there's a lot of possibilities for each of those pairs, just a lot of gaps to fill in to try and puzzle them out. there seems to be a lot of drama surrounding all the ancients, so I'd be curious to either meet more and compare them (idk. maybe we just got a weird batch and everyone else is an average person), or learn more about each of them!

Blinding | Satoru Gojo/GN!Reader
Tumblr media
@anon:
Satoru or Sukuna with "I cut you out because I couldn't stand being a passing fancy" Tbh I think this prompt is made for Satoru but UGH I JUST HAVE SMTHG ABT STRONG AND CRUEL AND CALLOUS AND ALMIGHTY CHARACTER GETTING CRUSHED DOWN BY SOMEONE YK WHAT I MEAN
a/n: thanks for requesting! 💕 you know what, anon? i'm on board with you on this and i genuinely want to hurt sukuna too lol (i have something else in store for that 😉). but you're right, this is for gojo. idk what happened with what i wrote here tho.
Tumblr media
posted: 05.15.21 | prompt: i cut you out because i couldn't stand being a passing fancy
prompt ficlets: [Sobriety] [Masterlist] word count: 928 content tags: prompt ficlet. non-physical intimacy. denial of feelings. can be read as either platonic or romantic. character study, if you squint. mild spoilers for hidden inventory arc (implied). tw: none.
pov: you think of satoru gojo in the snow.
Tumblr media
Mid-January is frosted over in a dense blanket of white.
It makes him colorless, as if he can disappear within the palest slate of the month, but even there, Satoru always has to wear his funeral clothes, more somber and darker than blood, and without really asking, you think, who is it all for?
Perhaps, you'll rather not know, so you don't and instead embellish the lingering sentiment of how he stands out in black. A clean, crisp black, untouched by the falling snow.
For once, you're envious. You don’t want to let this winter catch up to you.
You don't believe you've ever experienced snow as heavy and knee-deep in this time around. Winter is one of the many occurrences that has grown prevalent in your life, but it isn't the ice that's biting and bitter to the touch.
It's the cold. It's so cold in Tokyo. The city, the people, the air polluted with cloudy overcast and curses. So unlike the summer days in Okinawa, the spiels of heat and home, the beaches, and your childhood sun. You don't mention Okinawa to him, never again. It's an unspoken rule. One you have to learn by yourself, one where Satoru doesn’t give you any forewarning about.
Satoru doesn't make himself much of a puzzle about it. It's always conundrum, chaos. You're tempted to call him calamity too, and he won't deny it with a lopsided grin. So much devastation in his wake; the path to him has never lent itself clear or any less damaged.
You contemplate about that, recalling how he’ll freeze up in a fraction, and then it'll melt away into some token sunny disposition, brilliant enough to blind.
That's the thing with him. Everyone goes blind for him and Satoru can see right through it. Right through you.
“You're thinking an awful lot,” he observes, sitting next to you on the school bench. “I hope it's about me.”
You sigh under your breath. “Don't make it all about you, Satoru.”
Satoru chuckles. He perches an outstretched arm on the bench, almost hovering the entire span of your shoulders. Touching but not touching.
Something about his voice feels like a playful nudge. “Isn't it?”
You wave it off. “What a sad thought then.”
“Now, now. Don't be so cold! You'll hurt my feelings.”
Can you really be hurt?
Then Satoru gives you this knowing look behind his blindfold, as if you’ve blurted out the thought anyway.
There’s a faint wisp of a smile on his lips. “Want to try?”
Satoru isn’t staring at you this time. He never stares too closely. Always far ahead from everyone else, always at a high distance.
It must be so tedious. Seeing the same things unfold in his line of sight. The same ones that make it impossible for anyone to comprehend themselves, that make it nigh-unbearable having to see all by himself for such a long time.
“You’re just bored.”
“You are too.”
“Yeah, I’m bored of you,” you say blatantly. “So bored that I cut you out because I couldn't stand being a passing fancy.”
“You,” Satoru starts, musing aloud, “could’ve tried harder than that.”
You shrug.
Because you actually feel like it comes off a bit overreaching. You don’t want to reach him in that regard, in words or the plane of existence he lives in.
It’s meant to be clear-cut and separate from yours after all, like the fault line between stars. One can only gawk up, left to a detached interpretation if the immeasurable lengths almost compare to a fracture.
Satoru makes heaven seem like such a desolate place above your finite world, and sometimes, you try to console yourself with ignorance because you often find yourself torn between knowing too much and not at all from a glimpse of his eyes.
Like gazing onto what many a mortal will think is celestial and iridescent blue, though Suguru has always known better and now so do you, gazing onto his humanity is something the world can’t stand to bear for all its aching sincerity.
So there’s denial in the form of willing blindness, and then blindness in the thin veneer of indifference. An indifference that Satoru seems to have been captivated of since high school because he alone can see what no one else sees, what you refuse to see in him, and what he has always seen in you.
When omniscience makes itself into a curse, you believe you’re a little wiser to avert your eyes away from him.
You abruptly stand up to leave, not waiting for a response.
“Where’re you going?” Satoru catches up to you in long strides, perhaps disconsolate of the thought that he’s behind you. He says your name and it grips you for a quiet interval.
“Don’t know,” is the only thing you say even though you’ve walked the steep path on these school grounds for years, committed its labyrinth to memory, have never gotten lost even when it’s obscured by a white canvas of hoarfrost, where everything seems as if it can only fade into the snow.
Though as you walk further, both of your scattered footprints meet like parallel lines in lethargic, unreachable distances that one might call it infinite and as it extends into nothing more but pensive trails, it takes another glance for you to realize that he’s never looked so vivid next to you.
You can last in the heat for days, not in his. Not outside this cold either.
Satoru notices it first. He always does.
“We should head back.”
“All right.”

okay humanstuck thoughts under the cut
i owe a lot of this to @/rhythmic-idealist's kankri/vantasposting bc holy shit theyve got such a big brain (ill link to their individual posts when im on desktop since im using this to keep all my thoughts straight and i agree with most of what they say wholeheartedly)
general status quo stuff:
signless works in an extremely demanding career involving helping others (i'm leaning towards an attorney who works with organizations and does pro bono work), and is also extensively involved in social justice work outside of his job... he is very rarely home
he loves and cares for his children deeply and tries to express it whenever they're face to face, but the couch in his cramped and messy office has seen far too much use over the years for him to have been able to say it enough
his habits of working himself to the point of exhaustion are handily passed down to his kids btw
the kids had to grow up quickly because signless was out of the house so often and so consistently—kankri, who was already pretty high-strung, has to learn to take care of himself and karkat
they grow up near ms firuzeh maryam, who's their pseudoaunt/grandma (she took in a nine year old kavana vantas when she was about twenty), but they just call her ms rosa
they spent a lot of time in the maryam house growing up, with miss rosa's two nieces. porrim is a year older than kankri, while kanaya and karkat are the same age
kankri grows kinda sensitive to people trying to mother him since it rubs against the notion that he's the "adult of the house" and that he can take care of himself and karkat just fine
(and it also kinda underlines the fact that kankri has no idea what he's doing at the best of times)
and ironically enough, kankri becomes overbearing and naggy towards karkat in his own right, which forestalls them becoming close in any brotherly sort of way
they grow up really just... unable to communicate with one another clearly
karkat develops his ornery exterior in response to kankri's constant stream of opinions and frantic attempts at making up for the presence of a guardian in the house
i think there would actually be some really interesting parallels with rose in this au.. maybe i'm drawing from my own experiences as well but i think he'd begin to assume that every time his brother opens his mouth, he's going to criticize karkat
but instead of reacting like rose with the "making yourself more of a puzzle"/passive aggressive stuff, he gets a more defensive/hackles raised/"argue with you before you can argue with me" approach
and the thing is that they do love each other and would take a bullet for the other etc etc etc.. but they don't know how to express it because they've fallen into these shitty patterns
and it really doesn't help that kankri has grown somewhat resentful of signless over the years... that mix of resentment and fear and love gets more extreme and more polar every time signless gets injured during a political demonstration
i think kankri and signless would also be slightly closer than karkat and signless, as signless' job really only started to ramp up when karkat was less than years old and kankri was in his early double digits
kankri autistic btw its word of god (i am god)
karkat has a pet crab. its name is also karkat. he vents his frustrations to it.
i feel like the vantases exemplify both the best and worst parts of their aspects with one another as well... the strength of their bonds keeps them together and grounded, but TOO grounded. [insert Blood rant here]
the Blood rant:
i define Blood as bonds, responsibility, and the "core". if Life is the fertile soil and everything living on a planet's surface, then Blood is the gravitational core of the planet keeping everything together
i also think Blood, Heart, & Mind work in tandem to define a person just as blood serves to connect the pieces of the human body... Heart is the soul and the self, Mind is the application of one's self through active choices (agency), while Blood defines both the self and the choices one makes in greater detail [and, as an aside, Life provides the physical spark of life needed to keep the heart pumping blood]
OKAY wow that got tangential anyways
SO BASICALLY! too much Blood makes you stagnate, so for example:
kankri is split between staying home with karkat or going to college across the country and being truly unbound for the first time in years
another crisis of Blood: signless is caught between his empathy and responsibility to the whole world and his responsibility to his own children
okay so here's more status quo stuff:
the maryam and vantas kids grow up together and its hilarious because you'll see them all together and its just like (girlboss) (girlboss) (physical manlet) (emotional manlet)
the maryam girls are actually miss rosa's nieces but she took them in when they were both pretty young
the pyropes know the vantases well enough considering pyrope senior and sign have known one another from their respective legal practices for years, but they live on the other side of town
the leijons lived in town when kankri and meulin were very young, but they moved and travelled for a long time before coming back and reestablishing their roots
the captors (psii being one of sign's oldest and closest friends) move into town with the peixes family pretty early on though
the condesce is.. a horrible spouse and guardian, to put it plainly. she's very emotionally manipulative and isn't averse to smacking people around, including her own family. she moves herself and her perfect little family into town so she can properly oversee a new business venture close by
feferi is one of the best young swimmers in the country and has a pretty good shot of getting onto the olympic team.. a lot of this drive to be perfect and to be better results from the condesce's unrelenting pressure and thinly veiled resentment throughout her whole life
so yeah psii, )(ic, feferi, and sollux all live together and it's really not great for anyone involved. (meenah ran away years ago, and crashed on aranea's couch for a pretty long while—mituna moved out with latula for college before psii and the condesce got married)
it gets bad to the point of sollux staying with the maryams for two months while the adults try to sort out that absolute clusterfuck and get the divorce proceedings going (meenah finally convinces feferi to get out and come stay with her and aranea for the duration as well)
in terms of relationships i think latula and porrim were really really close in high school, and probably had some kind of unacknowledged thing going on for a while that never actually turned into anything because latula and mituna were going steady
kankri has had a crush on latula for years but never acted on it for similar reasons
meenah still carries a lot of that give no fucks attitude (it's developed moreso as a defense mechanism here) and can't understand why feferi refuses to leave the condesce with her
okay back to VANTAS MANPAIN i also think that karkat feels the weight of a lot of expectations on his shoulders as well
he feels responsible to live up to the example his dad and his brother set, even if it's to his own detriment—and kankri's oblivious rambling about his grades and his teachers and all his clubs certainly aren't helping the matter
kankri is one of those overinvolved kids taking a million AP's while simultaneously shitting on the collegeboard at every single step
hes this super overachiever anal retentive perfectionist type dude and (just as karkat preemptively criticizes others to forestall their criticisms of him only to harshly criticize himself) kankri subconsciously holds the people around him to the same expectations he holds for himself
so karkat also develops this sense of lacking which, in combination with everything else, culminates in self loathing and thinking he has to solve everyone else's problems and getting horribly mad at himself for every little mistake
GOD i have a lot more but lemme post this before i accidentally close out of the app and lose it all
more little details:
vriska's mom and terezi's mom HATE each other like HATE HATE HATE one another it's so bad
karkat wrote a ten page review of my immortal in middle school
jade is one of nepeta's best online friends
sollux can't raise one eyebrow at a time.. karkat gives him so much grief about it
the vantases eat a lot of shitty renditions of persian dishes until karkat learns to cook because literally the only person in the world with a CHANCE of getting KANKRI VANTAS to make an EDIBLE DISH is miss rosa
kanaya is really good at persian dance too but is VERY VERY embarassed to perform in front of people.. however porrim definitely is not
karkat has insomnia while kankri just stays up stupidly late for assignments that really shouldnt be taken that seriously.. but they both have the same rumination/sleep anxiety thing where your brain goes insane with horrible and depressing scenarios as you try to sleep
and more ideas that i thought were interesting but idk how to fit in the context of this au:
signless and disciple getting married pretty late in life after having been in love for years, the vantases move in with the leijons and karkat suddenly has two sisters
nepeta and karkat are both juniors at this point, meulin is probably in her third year at a local college nearby while kankri is about to start his second year at a university pretty far away
the kids in general honestly but ill figure it out
more random hcs this time with kids:
kanaya and rose get into a flame war online that gradually settles into elaborate courtship rituals
also nepeta + jade online besties
also bec can inexplicably still teleport
the first sbahj movie comes out and the next six months of dave strider junior's high school career are absolute hell
actually hc that dave senior goes by d strider professionally. the d stands for a lot of things
aradia and dave frequent a lot of the same forums but never end up really interacting
meanwhile karkat and john frequent a lot of the same forums and DEFINITELY end up interacting. this turns into grudging (at least on karkat's part) friendship after they find themselves fighting for their lives defending an objectively shitty movie together on the same thread

Piper/Kyle, except it's an AU where Kyle's parents were never killed by demons, so he lived a perfectly normal, happy childhood and grew up to follow their footsteps into teaching and Kyle's a normal, maybe even a little boring archaeology professor who secretly dreams of having his very own Indiana Jones moment - up until the day he opens some dusty old chest and unleashes a demon that tries to kill him, and he barely gets away only to run into this petite brunette woman who proceeds to blow the demon the fuck up, and Kyle's never believed in love at first sight before, but he's pretty sure he can make an exception for Piper
wait omg mentally stable kyle au okay wait i gotta wrap my head around this kyle but not absofuckinlutely insane whatta picture omg. okay. i feel like he’s still gotta have this belief in the supernatural i feel like that’s a large part of the charm in literally any kyle dynamic with the sisters is Witch Who Gets It and Man Who’s Only Got Raw Data. there’s an appeal to that. seeing things from different angles all that. so we can say kyle ever good at puzzles has taken his parents notes and everything he knows and various texts and kinda pieced together okay magic does exist. but in this au he’s a professor and not an fbi agent so he can’t just walk around saying Magic Is Real because um he needs this job. also he’s never seen it. but like. the data does not like. like. like it’s real man like are you kidding me. and we’ll say he has one normal friend because he’s normal in this au and he’s like okay here me out tho magic is real and his friend is like ......okay. because like. it could be, i guess? i’m not gonna fight you on this. and kyle also definitely read a lot as a kid he reads a lot now and he’s always kinda like. like you know wondered what it might be like to be a man of action not someone stuck behind a desk all day seeing the world through books. so when he starts to see markers of the gathering storm,,, well. these are the times that make a man. he can either be a pussy about it and keep living his life through paper and ink, or he can follow his intuition. blah blah blah this leads him to get kidnapped by pirates which like. excuse me??? and kyle’s kinda kicking himself because he Wanted to be like a character in an adventure book and well like bada bing bada boom you get what you ask for. which. all due respect on his part. is smart enough to outwit them and escape. he might have dropped his wallet there tho. but when he goes back the same route wandering through the thick fog, all he finds is a solid wall of rock. so i guess he’s fucked in that regard. whoops. but!! magic is real. so that’s a dub. digs a little bit more into the blackjack cutting lore, maybe finds the x marks the spot on where their main hideout was, road trip to. seattle? i guess? port city that isn’t san francisco but is more reasonable to drive to that like. nola or boston. and lo and behold he finds it and find their documentation of the gathering storm accidentally trips a booby trap and jesus fucking christ pirate skeletons with sword which - respectfully - kyle is holding his own for the most part, not getting immediately worried, but there’s no way that would have lasted had the three skeletons not been blown to pieces. and he looks over and sees three brunettes and the one in the center is like who the hell are you? to which kyle really feels like He should be the one asking that question but after stammering out some kind of response about how he’s a professor and he was just looking for some soil samples something generic archaeological because hey. he doesn’t trust these women. he doesn’t know what side they’re on. and he’s not just gonna sacrifice the information he has on the gathering storm. and it’s obvious they don’t believe him, but they don’t kill him either. instead, the one in the center just says be more careful where you leave your stuff and tosses his wallet back to him.
and later at the manor paige is like we just let him go?? and phoebe’s like yeah how to we know he’s not a demon? he wouldn’t be the first to pose as a mortal in the mortal world (because phoebe went to the university to return kyle’s wallet because like it has is ID in it employee id all that under the guise of like. giving a lecture to some of the student’s there as the bay’s leading advice columnist oh hey is there a kyle brody here yeah haha he’s a friend of a friend anyone seen him no he’s on vacation right now? left real abruptly? and then immediately went into his office and touched every surface trying to get a premonition (au in which phoebe didn’t get her powers stripped) and concluded that he’s just Some Guy. like he like has friends and a nine to five and an apartment. so a guy). but piper’s like we don’t know. but we also don’t know what he’s up to or what his connection to the pirates was, which is why i cast a tracking spell on the wallet. and both phoebe and paige approve and in this au again phoebe didn’t get her powers stripped so in styx feet under it’s her and paige on mission and as paige is the one who cast the protection spell and as paige is also very stubborn and also refuses to let innocents die she is the one who gets to become death. she also has a very compelling relationship with death because like. she watched her parents die. and she’s prue’s replacement. the replacement for the dead girl. also fun paige/prue parallel! meanwhile right Should state in any piper/kyle au we just extend pleo’s divorce era by having him remain an elder and keeping that early s6 vibe. so piper’s definitely like a bit more neurotic than normal because you know things haven’t gone great for her and those pirates were warning about the gathering storm and honestly that better not be something that’s gonna hurt her boys because she really could not bear to lose another family member so she’s doing some digging which begins to imply that kyle knows more that he let on so where is he now? the university? great.
and kyle’s you know minding his own business in his office when the same woman practically kicks down his door and is like alright i’m gonna ask again who the hell are you and this time you better answer me honestly. to which: wow. like wow. she’s. she’s a force to be reckoned with and also kinda immediately gains points in kyle’s book for like a) kinda confronting him about knowing more because he’s pretty good at covering his tracks all that so if he’s been Found Out it’s by someone good and b) she also disintegrated evil pirate skeletons so like. 👍. But. he does not trust her for shit. no. absolutely not. he has no reason to. but piper’s not yielding blasts a hole in the wall near his head like quickly now or next time i won’t miss but kyle’s so fuckin stubborn he’s like 🤐 and piper’s. i mean, she can’t kill an innocent. she doesn’t know if that’s who he is, but she can’t run that risk. and kyle’s not saying shit, so she leaves.
then it’s the guardian angel episode where the charmed ones are there on instruction (though they don’t know what they’re looking for. maybe they were just scrying for information) and kyle’s there on a hunch and piper and kyle see each other and it’s um. mac charlie see each other from across the room reaction image. both like. what the fuck are you doing here? and in this one paige is still the one to get her guardian angel stolen and piper’s immediately on high alert because you know big sister/mom mode activated. but they don’t know what they’re looking for and kyle’s like it’s her guardian angel. and piper once again snaps to him firey look in her eyes but kyle’s really just trying to place nice here so he’s like guardian angels. they’ve been going missing being stolen whatever. he’s got the research on it. and piper doesn’t want to trust him but paige is really in grave danger. so, as the sister with the offensive power, she’s going with kyle, and phoebe has to make sure paige doesn’t like. pull a grams. (which for the record i do not accept prewitched as canon but like the elders definitely killed grams <3)
so blah blah blah piper’s now and kyle’s place which is ten times worse than his office because this is where he does his real work and he’s got all the guardian angel shit up and out and is explaining it to piper and it’s making sense but what catches her eye is something on the gathering storm that kyle left out now they’re talking about that they’re starting to realize they’re on the same side. blah blah blah save paige. next episodes what werewolf episode. skip. then!! idk paige still runs magic school right so she’s in the library and she calls piper and she’s like hey remember when you told me to keep an eye out on the gathering storm? and piper’s like yes yeah what is it? and she’s like well we’re inventorying the library and we have books on them and piper’s like that’s good news ! ? and paige is like yeah but we’re missing one. book five. in this something something series. and piper knows Exactly where that book is because she fucking saw it on kyle’s kitchen counter. so now she’s barging into kyle’s place which is getting to be a common occurrence at this point and kyle kinda wants to complain but this is by far the most interesting his life’s been ever and honestly? he’d be kinda bummed if piper stopped kicking down his door. wait actually scratch that you want my book no fuck you changed my mind. to which piper’s like look we’re looking for the same goal here right so give me the book because i have the rest of the series and this could be the missing puzzle piece and kyle’s like okay fine i’ve read the book cover to cover give me the rest of the series and i’ll get you your answers and piper’s like okay let’s get things straight here i’m the witch you’re some two bit archeology professor so when it comes to the handling of sacred magical tomes i’ll be taking the reigns here and kyle’s like fine then you won’t be taking the book. and piper’s like wanna bet and the next think kyle knows he’s hearing the door slam his book’s gone and he’s hearing tires peel out onto the street and he has no idea how she did it.
back at the manor piper’s got her reading glasses on an volume one open and god this fucking sucks. so she makes phoebe take a stab at it and she hates reading it too. paige also starts it and is like respectfully no. piper’s the only one who did the reading in high school. this is her turf. but my god she cannot make it through all eight of these fucking books. So. she calls kyle. he has to come to the manor because there’s no way she’s giving him the books and there’s no way she’s letting him in magic school so. hi. welcome to the house. but!! by a contrived plot device!!!! a gnome has been shot in magic school this book was the only thing at the scene and paige wants to investigate further but she can’t just leave it out there so she brings it back to the manor she’s gonna cast some spell to find out if there are already spells on the book how to reverse it she just needs to find the spell first and like. there’s no way in hell paige ever wears an outfit with big enough pockets to keep the book on her. so she leaves it on the table. to which kyle asks how this is relevant to the collection. to which piper says don’t open that!! whoops. see, this is why i said we don’t let two bit archeology professors near magical books! piper/kyle charmed noir..............

idk anything about the grace period for deltarune u can just keep this ask in the attic until that’s over.. anyway.. i really liked chap 2 i played it in one sitting 😭 the rpg combat is enjoyable enough and just the right amount more complex than the undertale combat is, although not very difficult. very touching power of friendship moments minus that fucking bird man. some of the dialogue felt quite fandom tropey and surface-level, and queen’s lines (love her tho) were hit or miss for me. i think the biggest frustration i have with it is all the useless random encounter characters clogging up your world 😞😞 there’s only so many wacky one-liners toby can give them and i am not invested enough to care! also some of those designs are uglie!! there are better ways to make a world feel real and lived in. same thing happened with undertale.
BUT it was a great time! i liked the juxtaposition between the ultimately harmless antics and charming banter with the gang and queen, and the more sinister plot going on in the background. most obviously in the ending. toriel and susie making a pie while kris RIPS OUT THEIR SOUL….spoiler warning.. did u see the theory that the soul aka red heart is you the player operating kris the vessel? i’m definitely not a theorist but i like seeing all the loose plot ends i’m having a good time. i love noelleeeeee 💞💞💞💞and i liked susie a lot more this chapter. when ralsei taught her a healing spell 😖😖 i still don’t really care about ralsei though 😓
special shoutout to the spinning teacups ☕️☕️☕️ and special NOT-shoutout to the mice games with the rotating blocks i never understood how to do that.
it was a very feel-good game. it made me feel good. standards for video game passed. what did u think tho!! i mean i assume u liked it but for the same reasons? different ones? feel free to respond with an excruciatingly long essay of ur own <3 we are back to the tt anon blocks of text i restrained myself for a bit but we are back -tt
hiii tt anon <3 back at it again with the asks that i am looking forward to answering. if i post this a little before the 48 hours i will be forgiven bc i will use the deltarune spoilers tag and also the long post tag LMAOO anyway anyway oh btw never refrain urself from sending blocks of text if my followers are mad even though i tag them long post that's ON THEM. everything u say is worth listening to & same for everything i say so that's my final stance on this 😌
i also played it in one sitting it was so GOOD. i don't care that it was 2 am here when it was released i wasss ecstatic and the game was so fucking GOOD tonby the fox delivered!! it was so so worth the wait! the music was so much better than in chapter 1 imo, like... my castle town? the cyber fields theme? the queen's fight? spamton g spamton??? rouxls' "fight"?? BANGERS. i only see bangers. the new gameplay mechanics were also very fun!! i for one kinda struggled with the mice puzzles but not nearly as much as that one section with the traffic jams where you have to go down and back up or whatever. what the hell was that? i'm surprised i actually got past it. i loved the parts in cyber field though where you had to move on beat with the music that was sooo fun!! more of that! i prefer the fighting system in undertale ngl but it's mostly bc the undertale bosses are... just so good. the one boss who rivalises for now to me is queen, although rouxls is also very fun.
as for the story itself... i liked it :) susie & noelle are fucking ADORABLE. i think they deserve to be happy forever like not even together just individually as characters they're the fucking best. susie's grown so much that's my girl... wough... ralsei i do like but... i don't trust him :D i don't think he's evil but he knows too much and tells us too little until he can't keep it for himself and i don't like that. like bro you're gonna get us in trouble stop. but ALSO some ppl speculate that himself is being misled and that the fountains wouldn't bring the roaring, which is an interesting theory. (also i miss lancer being more relevant)
uhh kris is... well... kris... :)... yeah i did hear about that theory i'm in a discord server where ppl have been going on and on about theories since the game dropped LMAOO we're all insane. um. my personal theory is that there's another knight, or that kris is at least also influenced by an "evil force" or whatever, and we're the good force influencing them bc otherwise they're just a normal albeit mischievous kid. and the stretch part is that uhhh there's two knight pieces on a chessboard, ik this isn't about chess at all but king of spades does tell you at the end of chapter 2 that you'll meet a more powerful foe = the queen, coincidentally in chess the queen is stronger than the king. hmmmmmmmmmmm. lmao i don't think my parallel here is right but it's fun to think about anyway
did you see the superboss? i didn't fight him myself but he's so fun. also @ everyone who said he's gonna be a tumblr sexyman i hate that you're right shut that shit down HJKSNFKJSDHG. also did you see the secret fucked up pipis route? it's horrible. genuinely... i watched a streamer play it and 😳 uh. well i didn't even hate berdly before anyway yeah he's annoying but like he's a snot-beaked kid i'm not gonna wish him... whatever happens in this route. legit scarring. and poor noelle... pffbbgtbg. hate this so much. but i think it was done so bad and horrible on purpose, with how specific your gameplay has to be for you to be able to complete it tonby really was like "you wanna be an asshole? undertale wasn't enough? fine. work for it. and also suffer" nskjshf. i'm never doing it <3
lastly FUCKING QUEEN!!!!!!! QUEEN MY LOVE!!!!! BEST CHARACTER. i love her sosososo much it's unreal. and i didn't mind any character designs much, i'm not too complicated in that regard shfkjsdfh i love the tasques and tasque manager though :) also the... idk their names... the butler dudes? they're so cute. swatch's design is neat
so those are my thoughts <3 can't wait to hear more from u!!!

Pale is always working, always stressed out. How about his s/o giving him a nice massage? it could turn into nsfw idk! I just adore how you portrait him 💞😘
Hey Angel
Pairing: Pale/Reader
Word Count: 1361
A/N: Thank you so much! I’m very proud of my Pale! I’m gonna be keeping this one SFW, just because I’ve had a negative personal experience with massages turning into something else, but I do think that with Pale, he’d be very excited with your hands all over him, so just imagine that for the ending if you want lol ;)
Tumblr media
There’s a little candle burning, vanilla scented, a bourbon on the rocks waiting for Pale alongside it.
And alongside that, you were also waiting for Pale. He’d left at half past 4 this morning for work, no rest even on a Saturday. It was 9 p.m. now, a seventeen hour work day. Typical for Pale to work this hard, typical for his work to call him in, typical for this man to parallel his city; never sleeping.
You wore a robe he’d bought you a while back, lace mostly, butter-soft on your skin. Under that, plain underwear, allowing the lace to be the statement. You were a little dressed up for him, though you wouldn’t admit the effort, knew he’d feel guilty with how long he’d been away.
When he was the only guy in the world who could manage all this shit, keep all the plates spinning, you could understand why his work called him in, even on the weekend. Probably some event, a Greek wedding or a mob dinner. Something that had to be perfect. With his standards, of course it would be.
You were so busy animating little vignettes of the events he might be catering that you didn’t hear him slamming the car door or stomping down the passage. He was a big man, he made a lotta noise. So when the door opened, you jumped a little, shifted toward the bedroom where there was a pistol in Pale’s nightstand.
Your eyes softened when he rounded the corner to the living room.
“Sorry dollface, did I scare ya?”
You nodded sheepishly. “Yeah, I didn’t hear you.”
He took off his blazer and draped it over the piano before making his way to you.
“How was your day? Sorry I left so early,” He kissed your cheek tenderly.
“It was nice, painted my nails, watched some TV.”
He glanced at the bourbon and raised an eyebrow. “That for me?”
You nodded, pulled your bottom lip into your mouth with a small smile.
“So what are the Carringtons up to this time, huh?” He settled beside you on the couch, his hand instinctively resting on your thigh.
“It wasn’t only Dynasty, I watched some Jeopardy too,” You protested with a laugh. “But the Carringtons are fine. Still got enough money to buy their way out of all their problems.”
He smiled over the rim of his glass, something like love in his eyes. How else would he know what you were up to, keep track of what you were invested in?
“So I was thinking, if you’d like, I could give you a bit of a massage to help you unwind a little?”
Pale hummed and set his glass down. He wrapped you in a hug, albeit a slightly awkward one with you both being on the couch. “You’re really an angel, huh? That why you got the candle and the robe and all that set up?”
“Not set up,” You smiled. “Just an extra few seconds.”
He nodded into your shoulder. “Angel.”
You laughed and lightly pushed him off. “C’mon Pale, let’s get that shirt off.”
“Alright, alright. You got some music for me to strip to at least? Yeesh.”
Laughing heartily now, you leaned your forehead into his chest. “Man, I missed you, actually.”
“Actually? I did too.” He kissed the top of your head. “One day I’ll have more than enough money to pay the bills and we can just cruise through life. Won’t leave you alone for a second.”
You leaned back, giving him some space to undress. He seemed to get the message and undid the first few buttons of his shirt, tugging it over his head and tossing it to the floor. He could iron tomorrow, he thought with relief, tomorrow’s a Sunday.
“How do you want me?”
“However’s comfortable.” You warmed the oil between your hands. “Make sure you can breathe.”
Pale huffed a laugh. “Breathe? Around you? Haven’t breathed in years, don’t need to.”
You were a little puzzled by that one, but you didn’t think too hard about it. He’d only slept for a few minutes, it was fair enough if his metaphors weren’t a hundred percent coherent. Maybe it was, maybe it made sense in some way of Pale’s that you couldn’t quite understand. Probably just trying to say he loved you.
You started on his lower back and worked your way up either side of his spine, rubbing circles into his skin with your thumbs, kissing along his vertebrae where you hadn’t oiled yet. His tailbone was tense, you figured that was from sitting in the driver’s seat for a couple hours today.
He moaned freely, mumbling when you hit a tender spot and leaning away from your touch slightly. You took your time working out the knots and kissing over his freckles, but after what felt like quite a while, your hands started to get a little sore, so you rubbed a few final spirals over his neck and then moved to kneel on the floor, face in line with his, propped up on a couch cushion.
“You’re droolin’ a little, Pale. That good?”
You smiled and wiped the corner of his mouth with your thumb, you’d have to wash the oil off your hands anyway.
A tear spilled from the inner corner of his left eye and ran over the bridge of his handsome nose. “What’d I do to deserve this, huh?”
He smiled and closed his eyes, happily drawing a deep breath. Tenderly, you pressed a kiss to his cheek.
“I know I don’t say it that often, but I love you,” He blinked his eyes open. “More than anything. It hurts when I have to go without you for so long.”
You felt something brushing your hand, then glanced and saw his fingers tracing over your knuckles. When you looked back at him, he was smiling at you.
“C’mon, it ain’t that bad,” You smiled back, ran your finger over his face, connecting the freckles.
He hummed negatively. “It is. Boss said I could have the day off on Monday and Tuesday. Said I looked grumpy today. Damn fucking right I’m grumpy. My girl’s tucked up in bed sleeping and I’m not there to grab her ass or nothing. You gotta wake up alone, make your own breakfast- What did you have for breakfast?”
“Cereal,” You kept tracing your finger over his skin, lining his features.
He groaned. “Fuck, that’s inhumane. On a Saturday? Man, there’s gotta be a special place in heaven for people like us. People who work their asses off and love each other through it.”
“French toast tomorrow? With berries and cream?” Your voice took on a hopeful lilt as you traced Pale’s eyebrow.
“And mascarpone, and I’ll make an omelet or something, hashbrowns, onions... You know why I had to leave so early today? Fucking group catering, three hundred people or something, and you wanna guess what they ordered last minute?”
You thought for a second, knew if you took any longer Pale would explain without giving you a chance. “Seafood or something? Like calamari?”
Pale looked at you incredulously. “How’d you know?”
Surprised yourself, you shrugged. “I was just picturing it, before you came. Thought it might have been a Greek wedding.”
Pale pushed his chin out, raised his eyebrows further. “And how the hell’d you know it was Greek?”
You laughed. “I didn’t, I swear. It was just what I was imagining. I didn’t know seafood was a Greek thing.”
He nodded. “Yeah, it is. There’s this salad thing, pretty simple at first, you know, lettuce, olive oil, lemon juice, but then you gotta add crab, calamari, mussels, scallops... Shit, it’s nearly impossible to find three hundred pounds of seafood in less than twelve hours. Fresh seafood!”
“Any leftovers? Not the seafood, but..?”
“Oh, so much baklava. There’s a tray in the fridge at work, was gonna bring it home but I guess I forgot. We could get it tomorrow sometime. I put my name on it ‘cos I know you like it.”
You kissed his cheek again. “Maybe you’re the angel.”
Pale chuckled. “Not even close.”

alright i’m never on here anymore but i’m trying to work out how i feel abt the loki show and i feel like i’m losing it a little bit so here are just like. thoughts in a list that i need to get out of my head so i can sleep
1. I liked it overall, but I do think the first 3 episodes were better than the last 3.
2. I also wish that it had stayed more as a focus on loki rather than turning into setting up the future of the mcu since it made the finale feel less like a finale. It was more focused on looking forward than wrapping up or establishing what had been started in the previous 5 episodes. The other disney+ shows kinda got to stand on their own and we didn’t really get that here.
3. People freaking out about the sylvie/loki kiss need to chillax frankly? “selfcest” is literally not a real problem, people on this site and all over the internet have shipped far worse pairings, and the ethical dilemma of “would you hook up with your au self” holds no irl weight, it’s not a real dilemma! relax!
4. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that the character development was bad and that loki changed too fast but like.......... he came straight off of losing the battle of new york and was shown that all his ambitions and scheming are for nothing and that the guy he thought he was aligned with will kill him and there’s nothing he can do about it. And I think it’s safe to say that learning all that will sort out someone’s priorities? I thought it was believable & made sense & obviously tom acted it well! Do I not understand what character development is? Perhaps! But I didn’t think loki had, like, an ooc journey. We know he’s capable of change, we saw the ragnarok version of him, and seeing his life play out just kinda fast-tracked him.
5. I can’t get the Good Place parallels out of my head. pillboi appearance aside, loki rlly functions as an eleanor shellstrop here. bisexual disaster trying to become a better person and protect their world and the people they love!
6. giving up on the possibility of good queer rep in any marvel properties has brought me so much peace and i lowkey recommend it. as much as i want loki to kiss owen wilson, i know it’s never gonna happen! and i’ve accepted it! not saying it’s not valid to critique it and that we should be happy with crumbs bc it fuckin sucks but i simply don’t have the energy anymore
7. my brain has a hard time with the mcu’s way of “explaining” timey-wimey stuff (pardon the doctor who reference but it’s apt). i dont understand what happens to the surrounding area when someone gets pruned, and i still don’t understand whatever the fuck was happening in endgame. i get what a multiverse is and understand au’s but it’s the pruning and the What Is The Aftermath How Do Things Go Back To Normal that i really would’ve loved to have explained in show! but i also accept that their time logic is just kinda fucky and i should just go with it.
8. idk how true it is but i saw a tiktok talking about how the writer wrote sylkie as romantic but the director directed it as platonic and that’s why it’s an awkward pairing and i just think that’s so puzzling? like how did that happen in the first place?
9. all the music was perfect natalie holt emmy when
Anyway! These are my thoughts at the moment bc all the critique/dislike for the show has been sticking with me in a weird way today and I need to get it out of my brain!

well. i think i’ve finally pinpointed the Thing abt chapter 2 that really digs under my skin / makes me uncomfortable to look at too closely (not the character execution of half the losers which is major and probably reason numero uno why chapter 2 does not live up to the book nor first movie and i Will go on abt later but i’m waiting to finish my reread to do so) and it’s essentially that eddie and richie are almost.... forced apart for a lot of it. in chapter 1 we have so many moments, countless looks and gestures and dialogue to point at and say look! there! that’s why they’re in love! where the impact these characters have on each other holds weight and they’re so deeply intertwined to the degree of siamese twins, one never without the other, never farther than a thought or heartbeat away (physically touching in one way or another anytime they can, a beacon through the walks of hell). it’s clear, on both ends, that whatever love they hold for each other is profound and heavy and embedded six feet deep into each other’s souls, transversing across memory, distance, time. even in the background of a scene in which the main focus is ten feet away, highlighted in red and grasping at your attention, you can spot eddieandrichie⏤together, inseparable, linked.
with chapter 2, this dynamic is hinted upon, and given to us through flashes, but never through scenes alone (prior to neibolt) or actual context. in fact, the scenes we Do have in which their magnetic pull towards each other is allowed narrative (hammock, eddie taking off the shower cap, eddie looking away smiling after richie’s “what the fuck does that mean”, going into the photo booth separated from the rest + eddie pulling richie in, eduardo! andale, them expressing constant agreement w each other through gestures, all of the jade of the orient stuff, etc) was courtesy of the actors and not the script or (likely) direction. bill even said that He was the one who had to push the clarity of richie’s sexuality, to clearly express that he’s gay (“““movie canon”””), while andy and the rest thought vague would be the best route to go in fear of audience reaction. and even then! it’s not as forward as it should’ve or could’ve been (considering they pulled eddie’s canon death scene w the love confession + more emotional moments between them in that setting + the supposed kiss), and oh! not to mention stripping eddie of his own homosexuality and giving richie the bowers storyline, which was the scene that cemented his sexuality in the movie, making it clear that the crew knew the dynamic and context of the interactions between eddie and bowers.
the point remains that all of the “official” reddie scenes are... kinda out of nowhere? we are given spare information, but lacking any context, leaving the general audience with no way to complete the puzzle with a dozen missing pieces. during the flashback, we see richie carving r+e on the kissing bridge, set after the events of the arcade, and obviously the e stands for eddie, but that’s it! nothing before or during that flashback gives the average watcher any information besides that, and the ones of us who are invested have little satisfaction from that moment alone, when we’ve been building it up and expecting an actual storyline, rather than 5 secs in a minute long flashback clip (that is to say, the r+e is one of my fav reddie scenes, but maybe they shouldn’t have teased it in the trailers if that was all it was gonna be?).
richie is the one to calm eddie down, snatch away his inhaler bc it’s meaningless physically and damaging psychologically, and tell him “you’re braver than you think.” but why is it that richie is able to get through to him when no one else can or bothers to, why richie, why does he understand what eddie needs to hear, why does eddie listen and take it to heart, especially when richie is the one emphasized to have a crush on eddie and not vice versa? they’re important to each other (on a deeper level than they individually are with the rest of the losers), it’s clear based on that scene, but that’s what it’s left at, with no scenes or dialogue previous to that moment propping it up, other than the r+e, which doesn’t account for eddie’s reaction. and then, they’re together when they face the doors, parallel to benverly who are shouting their love at each other. again, this is telling us something, which is less surprising based off of the inhaler scene 5 mins prior, but then it swiftly plummets to eddie essentially sacrificing himself / saving richie. again: why?
to me, it’s obvious. to y’all, it’s obvious. we all know well enough, right. but susan in the seat next to me doesn’t, nor do her two friends, or even my friends (getting new ones) or the majority of people who came out of that theatre. they walked out of there and didn’t understand the relationship as requited bc they weren’t given the context and love and soul of reddie. and i think what upsets me most about that is that i can’t just brush it off as them not understanding the nuance or depth of a stupid clown film (if it was the stupid clown book, sure, or even the first stupid clown film but) bc it was done on purpose. they were afraid of negative responses to the lgbt storyline (and god forbid there’d be two of them in their precious big studio film), and so they strangled the heart out of reddie. and because reddie became canon (or richie’s crush became canon), they had to tone down the “gayness” of their relationship, because now the audience would have a new perception of what they were to one another, and no longer have the cushion to brush it off as a “brotherly relationship” (sorry finn). take bill and mike for example! objectively, they were probably “gayer” than reddie, because they were allowed to touch, to show affection, to say i love you. but of course they can’t be gay, bc bill has a wife and they don’t see mike as enough of a person to give him anything good.
it’s like. what they (production) Have given us is flashes of moments that they are barely responsible for and bury ur gays (fantastic rep), wherein the sexuality of the character that actually dies is kept vague so that the record breaking number of people that went to see their film (who frankly don’t even care) won’t think the film is too gay. like. LMFAO it’s so dumb and frustrating bc on one hand we’re valid for clocking reddie but on the other we’re Too Wild for thinking that it’s a requited love story. like yes, i’m grateful that richie’s sexuality (re his attraction to men; i think he’s bi, movie canon leans toward gay but whatever) is canon, that the wretched grief he felt at losing the love of his life was Shown if only to paint how deep the emotion he felt went, that r+e is forever carved into history. but that’s hand in hand w me being upset over eddie’s character and sexuality being sidelined, at the graphic depiction of gay men being murdered with no full circle moment as it Should Have Been, at having to defend reddie as canon bc some cowards in the editing room couldn’t handle the negative reviews of a few bigots at the expense of their invested and loyal and passionate audience who care abt this story and the characters within it.
idk. anyway. this is the result of me going crazy so don’t pay it much mind but. imagine how fucking tired i am

Hi,Z ✨from the 40 questions for fic writers would you please answer if you’d like of course #4,7,8,15,&16 ☺️
Hello my dear anon! Thank you so much for asking :)
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Oh my gosh in terms of chaptered fics, 9 or 10, I think! Lol. I have lots of plans for the new year, and I can’t wait to get cracking on some of them. There’s a lot of fun in just thinking about and daydreaming about the ideas though, so even if 1 or 2 of those actually turn into something, I’m still grateful for the time to mull over new AUs or ideas.
Currently the one that’s on my mind is Beyond Reasonable Doubt, which will be a Lawyer!Kylo AU chaptered fic in which Kylo is wrongfully accused of murder and needs you to represent him. Classic slowburn, enemies to friends to lovers, murder mystery court-room drama, lol.
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
For this question I’m going to choose this scene from Each Eye, my Mob!Kylo Ren x Reader fic:
You were hunting, hunting him down. On your way to rip him apart limb from limb, on your way to gouge out his eyes and yank his heart straight out of his throat.
Snoke.
The man who had ordered your beloved to kill his father, which he had done! Which he had done so well, so deservingly – it hadn’t been enough. Not enough for Snoke, not enough for him who lured him into a trap for his sister to strike him down. The wretched old man, the monster who had taken your Kylo away from you, who had warped and twisted him into a puppet who had to obey.
Well, he didn’t have to obey any longer, not anymore.
Kylo was passed out, blacked out in your bed. You had found him had saved him, had sewn the chasm of his face back together with ugly fucked up stitches because you didn’t know how to do any better, you didn’t know. You had never done anything like this before, had never even seen it done. Nothing but sheer force and willpower had pushed your fingers forward, nothing but blind determination and fear had given you any sense of calm.
Were you calm?
For context, this story is about how Kylo Ren deals with the apparent news of a traitor within his family of organized crime moguls. The entire fic is shadowed by a sense of underlying tension between literally every character (other than Kylo) and you, but for the majority of the story there isn’t a clear reason why. The paragraphs above are the beginning of that why.
I’m proud of this whole setup because really it’s something that is set up through the entire story leading to this point. There’s a curiosity there -- why does everyone fear her? Why does everyone blindly respect her? Even Kylo submits to her, and he doesn’t submit to anyone.
Well, in the scenes that follow, you find out exactly why. It also unveils another layer to her character that we don’t see in the present. In the present, she is perfectly put together. In the flashback, she is absolutely unhinged, and that is a sort of simmering dichotomy that everyone in the story -- and now at this point, the audience -- knows can flip at any moment.
She is capable of sheer brutality, and you see that firsthand.
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
You know what I’m also going to choose a scene from Each Eye for this question lol, which as a matter of fact follows shortly after the scene mentioned above:
“Do you remember? Remember what I did to him?” You asked softly, removing the napkin from your lap, folding it and placing it on the table. You knew there was one last course coming, some sort of ice cream, but you didn’t care.
You wanted to go home, you needed to plan.
“Yes.” Rey said, voice barely above a whisper, because she did – she was there.
“Remember how I spared you?” You asked, snapping your finger and drawing her attention so that she could look at you, so that you could look at her, really look at her.
“Yes.” Rey answered, terrified.
You were no longer all smiles, all warmth. You were no longer sunshine and charm as you had been, as you tried to always be. No, no now you were angry, now you were impatient, now you were offended. Your eyes were cold and hard when you regarded her, when you bore your gaze into hers as you leaned in ever so slightly, leaned in just enough to make her lean in too.
“I’m starting to regret that.” You whispered, before pulling away.
The waiter arrived then with the ice creams, and you returned to your normally cheerful disposition, checking your phone and collecting your belongings.
“Shit, would you look at the time!” You laughed breezily, apologetically to the waiter. “I need to get going, Kylo will be expecting me back home soon. You know how he gets if he’s away from me for too long.” You said to Rey, who was stunned.
“Of course.” She said, mind racing, pulse jumping.
The waiter nodded, handed the ice creams off to someone else passing by so they wouldn’t melt, no use in wasting them on people who wouldn’t eat it.
You eyed the little piece of newspaper that was still on the table, and picked it up.
“Oh, would you mind holding onto this for me? He doesn’t like it when I fill in the puzzle without him, gets all sour.” You winked, folding it up and handing it to Rey.
“Did you finish it?” Her voice shook as she accepted the paper.
“No, there’s one left, I was hoping you could solve it.” You smiled warmly, standing up and putting on your coat, “It’s got me stumped I’m afraid. Forty-two across.”
There’s a lot of dialogue in the Tea Room scenes, because there’s a lot of unspoken truths being revealed. But I like this moment a lot, because it’s the moment that Rey realizes she is completely and totally fucked. It’s the moment where, without saying anything at all, you tell her that you know what she’s done, what she’s doing.
It’s also an example of that switch I mentioned above being flipped, how thin the layer of her patience is. It was all in all, just such a fun scene to write, that whole tea moment.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
This is such a fun question!! For those who may not know, I’m actually a spec screenwriter, and I use many of my chaptered fics as the base/starting point for some screenplays. So do keep an eye out, because there’s actually quite a few in the process of being tweaked and adapted into scripts.
But to pick just one for this question, the answer is definitely Two Doves, a Flip Zimmerman/Reader fic I wrote which gives us a glimpse of Flip’s time in Vietnam.
There are so many movies about the war in Vietnam, but in the updated for-screen version of Two Doves, that movie is more about veterans grappling with death and grief, humanity, morality, and what it means to be human. It’s very much an anti-war film that talks about the treatment of veterans after the war and how that’s a parallel to the treatment of vets today, as well as a commentary on the imperial militant industrial complex that has such a grasp on our country.
16. If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
Oh hands down Flip & His Darling Jewish Wife. I just have so much invested in that version of Flip, and there’s so so much that I could write about with them. Probably because that AU is also the personal AU put into prose lol, but idk. I’m just always very interested in seeing where they go, and how they handle the things life throws at them.

personal ask tags
tagged by someone who tells me I’m pretty on the regular @fineosaur 🥺🤏🏼
do you make your bed? yea every morning. It’s been instilled from me since childhood that you. must. make. your. bed.
what’s your favourite number? I don’t have a favorite number, but I do like the number 11 for some reason. It’s just a little different from the rest of the teen numbers, and it has a different name (not like one-teen), and it’s an odd number…so IDK, it just speaks got me.
what’s your job? I do communications and training for Marketers in a tech firm. It’s not exactly the most riveting stuff but it allows me a smidgen of creativity during work hours, which then spills over into writing and I am grateful for it.
can you parallel park? hahaha…yes, it’s actually my greatest strength behind the wheel. I should preface this by saying that I used to drive all the time, but living where I do, i haven’t been behind the wheel regularly in a decade…and have started to dislike it.
a job you’ve had which would surprise people? For a hot second, I was a social worker in a geriatric facility…it was wild to say the least.
do you think aliens are real? yup…i think it’s far too arrogant for the human race to assume we’re the only ones in the vast universe…they’re coming for us. Don’t ya’ll worry.
can you drive a manual? omg no. and it’s probably for the best that i don’t try.
what’s your guilty pleasure? I’m kind of with Raniyah here…nothing that brings me pleasure should be considered guilty. That being said, I love blasting music as loud as I can when no one is home…like to the point that our next door neighbors have issued complaints…but yolo :)
tattoos? oof…this is like my second favorite topic (besides food) to discuss.
I’ve always loved tattoos, have been obsessed with them since I was a kid and first listening to heavy metal. I didn’t get my first one until I was 24 and it’s my grandparents’ initials in Russian on my right shoulder.
I thought that was it, but ofc, it’s true what they say, once you get one, it’s hard to stop…so a year or so later, I got a feather quill on my back (this one taught me not to believe tattoo artists when they tell you it’ll only take ‘an hour or so’…this bitch kept me under the needle for 3 and a half hours…)
The other two tats I have are smaller. One is a Aries constellation tattoo on my right wrist, and the other is inspired by Robert Frost’s Nothing Gold Can Stay poem and it’s a phrase on my left arm.
I usually try to wait a year or so between tat jobs, but I told myself that once this quarantine is over, the first thing I’m doing is getting my next tattoo, which will be of black & white tulips with the phrase “skirting around oblivion” weaved into it…I’m super excited for it and am hoping this can happen this year.
favourite colour? red…always and forever.
things people do that drive you crazy? people who are too uptight and stick too closely to the rules absolutely drive me nuts. I have noticed an uptick in this during the quarantine and some people are so riddled with anxiety about not doing things properly that it almost feels like they’re inviting the virus into their lives…i am such a believer of what you put out into the universe, you get back tenfold, so this very anxious, paranoid approach to this really bugs me.
any phobias? sharks :/
favourite childhood sport? I’m not a very sporty person sadly, but I was a CHAMP at kickball.
do you talk to yourself? yes, and do it so loudly sometimes people think i’m talking to them but I’m not… :P
what movies do you adore? I’m a sucker for a romantic drama (obviously) but also thrillers. The other day I was thinking how much I love The Lincoln Lawyer, and it’s because it’s a mix of a courtroom drama and a thriller, with a surprise ending. Love it.
do you like puzzles? No, do not get me started on puzzles. I find them to be a torture device. I am not inclined towards detail or patience and watching people do puzzles just gives me a cold sweat and anxiety. I’ll only participate if I can do the edges and can have a bottle of wine at the ready to mitigate my frustrations.
favourite kind of music? hahahahaha a LOT of kinds. mostly alternative, rock, indie, folk.(I left Raniyah’s answer here because its…just true). Plus disco.
tea or coffee? both! coffee is a morning bev for me and one I’ll indulge in outside too…like I’ll get a latte or a flat white from a coffee shop. But tea, omg, tea is a religious experience. I love this brand called traditional medicinals. It’s so heavenly. I always end my day with their blend of peppermint and the chamomile with lavender…it literally makes me smile and feel warm just thinking about it.
what’s the first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up? an actress…a theatre actress to be precise. I think I belong on the stage and in another life, I definitely was.
Now that ya’ll know way more about me than you even wanted to, time to tag some peeps *I* want to get to know better: @julietacapulletto, @what-the-waterbear @huffletiika @fandomjuxtaposition @celestialboyds @jepshe
